2. Vomiting
• Vomiting is not a disease itself.
• It is a symptom of certain type of diseases.
• Vomiting is the forcible emptying of the
stomach.
• In this the stomach has to overcome the
pressures that are normally in place to
keep food and secretions within the
stomach.

3. Why Vomiting Occur
• 4 general causes of Vomiting.
• Chemoreceptor trigger zone.
• Vestibular.
• Vomiting center pathways.
• Gastric stasis.

5. Nausea
• Nausea is different term from Vomiting
• In Nausea there is a diffuse sensation of
unease and discomfort, often perceived as an
urge to vomit.
• While
• Not painful, it can be a debilitating symptom if
prolonged, and has been described as placing
discomfort on the chest, upper abdomen, or
back of the throat.

7. Causes of Vomiting
• Internal Causes
• Headache
• Heart Attack
• Pregnancy
• External Causes
• Motion Sickness
• Alcohol poisoning
• Medicines

9. Diagnose Cause of Vomiting
• Some investigation may needed in 5% cases:
• USG (Ultrasonography)- For detect
pancreatitis, appendicitis, gastritis, Liver
disorder, Gall stone etc.
• If patient complain about moderate to severe
pain than you can do,
• CT-Scan of brain - For detect encephalitis,
meningitis or other disorders.

11. Treatment of Vomiting
• Patient Vomiting can be treated by,
• Ondansetron 2mg/1ml IV or IM injection or
tablet given
• For less than 6years baby :
• Syrup of Ondansetron
• Can lead to stop vomiting.

19. If ondansetron fail
• Perinorm 1ml + 1ml Phenergan IM than
vomiting can be control.
• Metoclopramide 5mg/1ml (Perinorm inj )
• Promethazine 25mg/1ml (Phnergan inj)

21. Finally
• Nasal Gastric tube is used to remove or clean
the stomach waste products.
