HCI Webinar: Changing a Company Culture, One Technological Performance Module...Cornerstone OnDemand
Sometimes the best systems aren’t all in place when it comes to talent management. Processes may need improvement and people likely want more support, but a knowledge gap and lack of experience in change management blocks companies from adopting the finest practices and implementing helpful technology. Success, as seen by leaders, is achieved by doing what works best for the business. Top managers take on the constant task of determining how to make each process more efficient and improve what’s needed to maximize productivity.
Did you know that within the first 48 hours of your employees attending a traditional training or learning event, their knowledge retention drops to 33%? Did you also know that research now shows that nearly 80 percent of learning in the workplace takes place informally? So why are training departments still spending the vast majority of their budgets on formal training efforts? Do you struggle with getting the correct and most current information out to your employees so they can perform at the top of their game?
Join the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation, Bob Mosher, and Dr. Conrad Gottfredson, Performance Support Experts from APPLY Synergies, for this special presentation on Performance Support: Enabling The Most Valuable Resources Within Your Organization. Attendees will learn:
• How Performance Support can improve your nonprofit's effectiveness.
• What effective Performance Support looks like
• How to integrate Performance Support into your existing learning approach
The Agile Activity based Seating Report 2018 - PresentationMia Kolmodin
There is an increasing trend in Sweden to move in to something commonly called Activity Based Seating, what we discovered is often confused with Flexible Seating. We couldn’t find any data on the actual impact of these kind of seatings for Agile Teams. Thats why we did a survey to uncover the “truth” with 177 people answering and an open space session to learn more about what learnings are out there from people working Agile.
The survey was presented at Agila Sverige 2018 and can be found here > At an Open Space session we got together to share experiences people had around ABS. The result of both is shared in this free infographic and we hope this information can bring value to you and your organization so that you can find better solutions together. Please feel free to use the content in any way you like. We would though be happy if you would refer to Dandy People if you take any content out of context.

Learning Objective: Increase analytical and problem-solving skills
Description: What are the most valuable skills in today’s business world? Technical skills, people skills, and management skills are all critical skills needed to create impact. However, it is the integration of these skills that support professionals in increasing capacity to analyze and solve problems. The perspectives of the science involved in the technology, other people involved in the work, and ultimate effect on the business, must be considered for a solution to be successful. This session will feature an expert panel that will share their winning strategies and approaches to analyze and solve problems, and apply these models to complex business challenges.

Hallmark's Process Journey and Center of Excellence for IntegrationBrad Power
In 2007, Hallmark embarked on Project Horizon, an implementation of a software package for most core systems (SAP) and Lean. Twenty-five major end-to-end processes were identified, and 'process owners' and other roles were assigned to each process, and a Process Council organized to coordinate activities and prioritize improvement projects. Three years later (in 2010), as the major system deployments were winding down, Tony Marolt brought forward the idea of creating a Center of Excellence to keep these hybrid (business process and technical) experts together.

The Importance of HRMS and ERP Integration for Your CompanyNet at Work
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are designed to provide a ‘single point of truth’ concerning a company’s resources. However, Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) have often evolved as separate software solutions from the rest of the company’s ERP system.
Knowledge Management is first and foremost a willingness and desire of people within the organisation to help each other make things better. If this desire is not truly there, all that your process and technology-related investments will lead to, are expensive and embarrassing white elephants.
Paperless Performance Appraisal ManagementNet at Work
See firsthand how this solution facilitates the employee appraisal process and lets you set goals, keep employee journals, and visually track employee and organization progress over time.
A company’s most valuable asset is the people who walk through its doors each day to manage, lead, coordinate and execute. Providing these employees with a first-class experience from pre-hire to retire is the most crucial element to sustaining a successful business and attracting talent that will develop into future leadership, and utilizing cutting-edge technology is a key ingredient to the process.
Join us as Thomas Boyle and Chris Lennon of SilkRoad help attendees discover the “why” behind talent management technology, exploring the capabilities and power of automation and its positive effect on the employee experience and your company’s bottom line.

How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.

Globus Compute wth IRI Workflows - GlobusWorld 2024Globus
As part of the DOE Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) program, NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and ALCF at Argonne National Lab are working closely with General Atomics on accelerating the computing requirements of the DIII-D experiment. As part of the work the team is investigating ways to speedup the time to solution for many different parts of the DIII-D workflow including how they run jobs on HPC systems. One of these routes is looking at Globus Compute as a way to replace the current method for managing tasks and we describe a brief proof of concept showing how Globus Compute could help to schedule jobs and be a tool to connect compute at different facilities.
Developing Distributed High-performance Computing Capabilities of an Open Sci...Globus
COVID-19 had an unprecedented impact on scientific collaboration. The pandemic and its broad response from the scientific community has forged new relationships among public health practitioners, mathematical modelers, and scientific computing specialists, while revealing critical gaps in exploiting advanced computing systems to support urgent decision making. Informed by our team’s work in applying high-performance computing in support of public health decision makers during the COVID-19 pandemic, we present how Globus technologies are enabling the development of an open science platform for robust epidemic analysis, with the goal of collaborative, secure, distributed, on-demand, and fast time-to-solution analyses to support public health.
Enhancing Research Orchestration Capabilities at ORNL.pdfGlobus
Cross-facility research orchestration comes with ever-changing constraints regarding the availability and suitability of various compute and data resources. In short, a flexible data and processing fabric is needed to enable the dynamic redirection of data and compute tasks throughout the lifecycle of an experiment. In this talk, we illustrate how we easily leveraged Globus services to instrument the ACE research testbed at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility with flexible data and task orchestration capabilities.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.
