Iron Concentration Lab Report
By using the average absorbance of every solution prepared here, and knowing the concentration of
standard iron added to each, a standard addition curve was constructed with the purpose of
determining the original concentration of iron.
Figure 3 Illustrates the standard addition curve constructed using the data from Table 1. The line of
best fit is also included in the graph, as well as the equation representing it and its coefficient of

This is in agreeance with published results, where the USDA has deemed most samples of raw spinach
to contain 0.0029 wt% of iron.3 Although our results seem to reflect this real value, the high value of
error observed in these results must still be accounted for, as well as the shortcoming of or results
compared to those from the USDA. Firstly, it is possible that this apparent lower value observed here
may be a result of loss of sample in the transportation, measuring, and funneling of the ash across
multiple measuring devices, which may cause some loss of sample from the anticipated 0.9343 g
leading to lower amount of iron being analytically measured. Additionally, the filtering step of the
procedure was somewhat of a challenge considering that elution was a very slow process that required
series of washes using the 15 mL of HCl. These washes needed to be quick since we had a limited
amount of time to complete these experiments, and so it is possible that some sample may have been
lost in the interest of completing the experiment in time. Simple methods to resolve these issues would
be to repeat the experiment with an adequate amount of time, as well as a more controlled
environment where sample loss may be minimized, perhaps a fume hood. It is also a possibility that
this deviation in results may simply be a result of the sample itself; the USDA data

Characteristics of Drama
History of Drama
Ancient Drama
The origins of Western drama can be traced to the celebratory music of 6th century BC Attica, the
Greek region centered on Athens. Although accounts of this period are inadequate, it appears that the
poet Thespis developed a new musical form in which he impersonated a single character and engaged
a chorus of singer dancers in dialogue. As the first composer and soloist in this new form, which came
to be known as tragedy, Thespis can be considered both the first dramatist and the first actor. Of the
hundreds of works produced by Greek tragic playwrights, only 32 plays by the three major innovators
in this new art form survive. Aeschylus created the possibility of developing conflict between
characters by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subject matter was drawn from nature and natural man (such as the supposedly untouched Native
American). Perhaps one of the best examples of Romantic drama is Faust (Part I, 1808; Part II, 1832)
by the German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Based on the classic legend of the man who
sells his soul to the devil, this play of epic proportions depicts humankind s attempt to master all
knowledge and power in its constant struggle with the universe. The Romantics focused on emotion
rather than rationality, drew their examples from a study of the real world rather than the ideal, and
glorified the idea of the artist as a mad genius unfettered by rules. Romanticism thus gave rise to a
vast array of dramatic literature and production that was often undisciplined and that often substituted
emotional manipulation for substantial ideas.
Romanticism first appeared in Germany, a country with little native theatre other than rustic farces
before the 18th century. By the 1820s Romanticism dominated the theatre of most of Europe. Many of
the ideas and practices of Romanticism were evident in the late 18th century Sturm und Drang
movement of Germany led by Goethe and the dramatist Friedrich Schiller. These plays had no single
style but were generally strongly emotional, and, in their experimentation with form, laid the
groundwork for the rejection of Neo Classicism. The plays of the

The Political System Of The United States
Roger Darlington has said that the United States is the most powerful nation on earth; politically,
economically and militarily(1). Even though the U.S. is the second largest democracy in the world,
India being the first, it is considered rare, compared to other systems in the world. Where did the
founders of the U.S. get their ideas for the political system we have today? The U.S. political system
is made up of many components and there are several factors the contributed to what the U.S. political
system is today. Such as, where the foundations of the U.S. government came from, the American idea
of government, the characteristics of American society and political culture, and the values and
principles of American democracy.
The founding fathers were wise and had great experience in politics and government, however they
could not produce ideas for a political system of a country by just using their wisdom and experience.
The founding fathers needed to look at history to find some answers. One aspect that the founding
fathers explored was the government systems of ancient Greece and Rome. Aristotle and the Greeks
were the first to propose the idea of natural law. The system of direct, rather than representative
democracy, was developed in Athens, Greece. In Athens, citizens directly governed themselves. They
were allowed to participate in debates, voting, and law making. The next part of history that the
founding fathers observed was the philosophers that lived during the

American Revolution Reflection
Alexander Hamilton a great founder so great there have been many biographies written and a
broadway play capturing the eyes, ears, and minds of a diverse audience. With all the flashing lights
amazing choreography and lyricism of the rap performed in this play the mass society that believes
solely in the message of diversity and the building of our country by an immigrant can not truly see
who Hamilton really was as a founder. The representation he built in the office he created of himself is
far from the images of Hamilton represented in Hamilton: The American Revolution by Lin Manuel
Miranda and Jeremy Carter. This play does not represent the time as it was, but as we wish it would
be: a period of fighting for equality for all: for men, for women, and for slaves. Irresponsibly does it
sprinkle in small details of history bringing forth a light of immaculate freedom and omitting the cold
facts, we do not wish to open our eyes. It is ,however, entertaining. The entertainment value is much
more important than the false information being expressed in this play. For those that believe they are
paying purely for the entertainment think about the lesson being taken away from the viewing. The
perception of fighting for equality that is being expressed throughout the entertainment. Messages
subtle and unsubtle both visually and verbally we are shown a coming to power story of an immigrant.

Speed Loss Lab Report
RECONSTRUCTION:
Pre Crash:
On 05 25 2015 at approximately 1940 hours, Vehicle 1 was westbound on County Road 672, east of
Dupree Road. The driver of Vehicle 1, for reasons unknown, drove off the north side of CR 672 and
onto a grassy shoulder. Vehicle 1 drove approximately 229 feet through the grass before he returned to
the roadway. In returning to the roadway, Driver 1 overcorrected his steering and continued in a
southwest direction across both lanes of CR 672, for approximately 76 feet, as Vehicle 1 rotated
slightly in a counterclockwise direction. As Vehicle 1 left the south road edge, Driver 1 again tried to
overcorrect and began to rotate in a clockwise direction, as he drove onto the grassy shoulder.

I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle for the distance of 76 feet. The result of this speed loss
was less than 1 mile per hour in the overall speed loss of Vehicle 1 and was not factored into the
overall speed loss for Vehicle 1.
After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to
rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss
over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be
considered.
I utilized the coefficient of friction values based on skid testing conducted by the Institute of Police
Technology and Management, (IPTM). IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 1.50 for
a vehicle furrowing.
For this speed analysis, I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle. I utilized the sine value of the
angle determined by the path of travel of Vehicle 1 versus the angle of approach at measured distances
during the rotation. In conjunction with the standard speed loss equation, the sine value is applied to
the coefficient of friction value. The result based on this analysis is a speed loss range of 22.85 mph to
29.50 miles per hour during

The Impact Of The Opium War
The Opium War was a war between the United Kingdom and Imperial China. Smoking opium for the
stimulating impacts is not noted in China until the eighteenth century, but rather likely started at some
point before. The Chinese Imperial Government in the mid eighteenth century turned out to be
progressively concerned with the spreading dependence on opium and its crippling impact. The
Imperial Government disallowed the offer of opium blended with tobacco and banned opium smoking
houses (1729). The Government classed offering opium for smoking was classed with burglary and
affectation to kill, and rebuffed with expulsion or passing. The Government found, be that as it may,
extremely hard to stop the exchange, particularly as the British consistently ... Show more content on

Prior to the Opium wars China had begun to build up a urban business economy, however once the
wars started, China was presented rashly to western commercial enterprises. China couldn t contend
and got to be subject to remote products and exchange. While the wars did give China a urban
business sector economy, they likewise about devastated the economy as of now set up. After the wars
China understood that the nation couldn t keep on being so independent. Scholarly people understood
that they must attempt to comprehend western society, particularly if they somehow managed to beat
the West. Lin Zexu, Xu Ji yu, and Wei Yuan read deciphered material from the West and distributed
books on western nations and society. They found out about western political thoughts, social

First Component Of My Observation Assignment
On March 18, 2017, I began the first component of my observation assignment. In contemplating
where I was to do my observation, I wanted to find a location with a lot of people, a location that was
indoors, and a location that would provide me with a wide point of observation that would allow me to
peacefully and conspicuously observe people while taking notes in my notebook. As a result, I decided
on the second floor above the lounge area in the Santa Anita mall, located in Arcadia, CA, on a
Saturday afternoon. Prior to beginning my observation, I did not expect to be nervous, but as soon as I

Furthermore, when people alter their behaviors, it sometimes becomes impossible to know when a
person is truly being themselves. This type of playing the part leads into the sociological theory
known as Dramaturgy. Dramaturgy was first theorized by Erving Goffman. Goffman believed that
people conduct themselves differently in different situations to appear in some way that is
advantageous, kind of like actors playing different characters in films. For instance, there was a group
of teenagers who were taking lots of pictures with each other. However, one boy was just off to the
side calmly looking at his friends. After a few minutes of this, his attitude completely changed, and he
jumped into one of the pictures with his friends and began taking more pictures. After they all took
pictures, they all left to another part of the mall, and this boy returned back to his calm self. This was a
perfect example of someone who was playing the part of appearing more social even though he may
not have actually felt that way. In addition, usually at in door stores and restaurants, dogs, or other
pets, are not allowed because they can be messy or impact people s enjoyment. Whiling observing,

for those who desire it, but it is also a senior center where seniors around the community can freely
visit and attend health classes. The class I attended is called Health/Wellness Trivia and is part of the

The class consisted of mainly strength training, long periods of stretching and short cardio. It was
essential that the activities was mainly concentrated on increasing leg strength and improving balance.
Strengthen the bones will help build bone thickness and help lessen the danger of breaks/fractures.
Balance, coordination and mobility will help older adults from falling. Older adults are at high risk of
falling and this can cause serious injuries such as hip fractures, head traumas and even death. The
class also helped older adults educate themselves on preventive strategies from falling as well.
Major Health Components Covered In Class The two major health components covered in this class
was physical health and social health. Physical health refers to the way that the body function. This
definitely consist of regular exercise. Since the class was mainly consisted of strength training
exercises, it gave older adults strength and energy. This can play a major role in preventing some
illnesses. Social health is the quality of one s relationship with his/her friends and family. I feel like
the instructor was also trying to get older adults to work together during the exercises. I saw older
adults helping each other out when it came to stretching. This would be a good class for older adults to
attend if they wanted to meet new people. The

Class Between Class And Class Essay
Economic class division in the United States is simultaneously one of the most visible and invisible
issues facing this nation today. Unlike issues that many passionate individuals aren t afraid to voice
their opinions on such as racism, sexism, climate change, and marriage equality, the issue of class
divide is like the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about or address. As Bell Hooks puts
it, author of Where We Stand: Class Matters, Racism and sexism can be exploited in the interests of
class power. Yet no one wants to talk about class. (Hooks 7) The fact that discussions of class and
class divide have become such a taboo in the United States is truly disappointing. Class, more than
race or gender, is the single biggest factor in determining someone s success. Therefor, it should go
without saying that discussions and open dialog about class are crucial in this society in order to
advances its citizens and promote success with as many people as possible. It wasn t always like this.
There was indeed a time in our history when class was talked about, a time when the poor were cared
for, not seen as second class citizens or a taboo. David Hilfiker describes an earlier time in our history
as a nation when it was just assumed that a physician would care for the poor. However, in more
recent times Hilfiker finds himself regarded almost as a saint because he chooses to work with the
poor. (Hooks 41) Although the precise point at which this switch in logic

Analysis Of Disgust Of Vulgar Superstition
In the poem Sonnet. Written in Disgust of Vulgar Superstition by John Keats, the English writer
discusses the role Christianity and all other organized religions have in society. Keats particularly
notifies the irregularities officials apart of the church conduct themselves. Attacking them for their
behavior. Later Sherwood Anderson, an American writer, takes up the mantle Keats originally
discussed and takes it a step further exploring the human condition within a church official named
Reverend Curtis Hartman, in The Strength of God within the novel Winesburg, Ohio. Anderson choses
to describe church officials behavior, by focusing to tell the story of one individual instead of

Keats composes in his poem, ...and I should feel a damp a chill as from a tomb (Poertryworld). The
speaker makes his opinion obvious to the reader about his dislike for religion and finds it a vault for
where his beliefs would go to die. In other lines such as, The church bells toll a melancholy round and
In some black spell; seeing that each one tears, Himself from fireside joys (poetryworld). In those
lines, the speaker further points out his resistance to religion and what people will do for religion such
as, pull away from what makes them happy.
In the sonnet Written in Disgust of Vulgar Superstition by Keats, he attacks the church for how they
conduct themselves and behave. As a romantic he refuses to believe in the existence of an all mighty
god since, it interferes with the individuals mind. According, to C.U. Holman he defines romantism as
an, literary and philosophical theory that tends to see the individual at the very center of life and
experience . Since, Keats is a romantic writer he believes that the individual is the center and that
imagination is his greatest tool. He sees how the actions of the church and condemns their restraint on

Keats writes, That they are dying like an outburst lamp
That tis their sighing, wailing ere they go

Mobile Learning
Mobile learning in the 21st century: benefit for learners Abstract
As the quantity of information available increases exponentially and the general pace of life
accelerates, the ability to navigate, access, validate and share information will be a pivotal skill in an
increasingly complex environment. This skill will affect every part of a person s existence, including
everything from their ability to remain competitive in the workplace, to their ability to make personal
choices about holidays, social activities and personal development projects. This article proposes four
fundamental learning advantages that are gained more easily, or to a greater degree, through the use of
mLearning than through traditional face to face instruction, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The salesman on the way to meet a client, the worker sitting on public transport, the emergency
services personnel on the street and the list of examples goes on. But how much would modern society
actually use this facility if it were available? The increased requirement to undertake personal learning
to maintain a competitive advantage in the global economy (Falk Dierking 2002) has resulted in the
average adult spending 15 hours per week conducting deliberate personal learning. Considering those
15 hours per week are not conducted at regular times or in regular places (Sharples 2003), the
potential use is considerable. That potential is likely to increase as the information age accelerates.
People will need to be able access information faster and more effectively if they are to increase their
employability, business success, personal fulfilment and social development (Lowey, 2003).
mLearning provides people with the opportunity to access information where it would previously have
been impossible. This access advantage is not limited to time and location. The devices required to
access mobile networks are relatively inexpensive compared to desktop or laptop computers (Savill
Smith Kent 2003). This reduced expense can make access to this learning available to people who
otherwise could not afford it. Extensible Markup Language (XML) in the future could (if not XML

Near Field Communication Research Paper
The exact definition of Near Field Communication (NFC) is a set of communication protocols that
enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a smartphone, to
establish communication by bringing them within 2in of each other. For example, if I have an iPhone
specifically it will connect to the Internet and can exchange data with online services. Different
providers such as AT T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, T Mobile USA and even Apple have joined in this

Its been brought up that NFC tags can assist medical professionals with important information about a
certain patient. Patients can have tags with their medical history, treatments they have gone through,
and even any future medicines or treatments they can take. Recently on the news a mother explained
how the hospital gave their newborn baby to another who had also just given birth to a newborn. The
confusion started with a nurse going into the wrong room and reading off the wrong tag number that is
placed on the newborns bracelet and ankle, of which a mother and their second person also receive a

The Effect Of Magic In Doctor Faustus And The Tempest
Christopher Marlowe s Doctor Faustus and William Shakespeare s The Tempest both examine the
effect of magic on one s morality. The protagonists of the plays, Faustus and Prospero respectively,
seek the power of knowledge and find it in magic, which is a superhuman source of power. Despite
the losses Faustus and Prospero suffer, they think magic is right on the grounds that it gets them what
they want. Magic is a means of achieving one s ends without effort and transcending the limitations of
the human condition (Paris 264). But when Faustus and Prospero renounce magic at the end of events,
they abjure the means that gave them power and knowledge. This is a change from their attitude
towards magic in the opening of Doctor Faustus and The Tempest, and it indicates a moral journey for
both characters. When they ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Positive Aspects Of Playing Basketball
Young boys often dream about playing in the NBA or the NFL when they grow up. If parents make
sure their boys and girls are in sports when they are very little than they have a better chance of
getting to the pros. When you are little you usually play recreation ball at your local rec centers. You
also usually have a dad or an older brother that coaches the kids. Typically when you are in 2nd grade
you can start playing rec basketball. If you are good enough when you are in 2nd grade to 6th grade
you can be asked to play on a travel basketball team. This is where you parents pay a lot of money to
have you travel around and play with the best of the best. This is a really good time, because you
sometimes play on college courts which just make you dream of one day playing college basketball
and then maybe going into the NBA. I played on travel basketball, but then the next year I did not
make the team. I was a good basketball player, but I was not aggressive enough. I continued to play

What Age Should I Freeze My Eggs
Shannon s Edits
What Age Should I Freeze My Eggs?
The short answer is the earlier the better. Studies show that banking eggs at an younger age increases
the likelihood of having a successful birth after. However, these studies also show that women who
bank their eggs earlier are less likely to use them, because they have more time to conceive naturally.
Keep in mind, these findings don t apply if you re freezing your eggs due to health issues that impact
your fertility directly.
So, what s the recommended age for egg freezing if you don t have any health threats?
It turns out there are two major age related factors that can help answer this question: egg quantity and
quality. For the best egg freezing results, you need to know at what ... Show more content on

Tolga Mesen found in his research that the highest probability of live birth 74% occurred when eggs
were frozen before 34 years of age. However, most doctors say that freezing your eggs before the age
of 37 is fine. This recommended age is when the quality and quantity of a woman s egg is still suitable
for egg freezing.
What if I m older than 37 years?
Good news: Women still conceive naturally at this age.
The CDC reports that nearly 120,000 women in their 40s give a birth every year in the United States,
with only 9% of these births resulting from IVF.
However, at some point in their 40s, women experience Diminished Ovarian Reserve. This means that
women no longer have healthy eggs to fertilize naturally or retrieve for preservation. The condition
may occur at younger age due to disease or injury, but it most commonly occurs as a result of the
normal aging process.
Dr. Dominic Stoop suggests the ideal age for the egg freezing is 31 35. However, although eggs from
women in 36 40 years will result in fewer pregnancies because of lower egg quality, he adds that these
women may still benefit given the accelerated age related decline in fertility after the age of 40 years .
In other words, if you re 36 or older and you re not trying to conceive right now, you re more likely
achieve pregnancy success later if you freeze your eggs

Sal On The Road
In Part Four of On the Road, as Sal says good bye to Dean in preparation for his trip to Mexico, they
reminisce about old friends, with Dean showing Sal a photograph of Camille and his new baby. Sal
questions what their children will think in the future, looking at pictures of their parents that paint an
image of a normal, ordinary life. In contrast, he considers that their lives are actually rife with chaos
and ultimately empty, suggesting that Sal is growing as a person and drifting away from his aimless
lifestyle. While it is possible that Sal is growing up, the sentiments he expresses are similar to those he
had expressed before. Early in Part Two, he seems focused on school, his writing, and possibly settling
down with his girlfriend, Lucille, but all of that is forgotten when Dean shows up for another
adventure. Additionally, Sal mentions sadness and emptiness several times throughout the novel,
particularly at the start or conclusion of a new journey. In another instance, not long before the pair are
looking at photographs, Sal snaps at Dean for needling him about his age, making him cry. It is the

A Look Into The Dachau Concentration Camp
Libby Baert HIST B323 28274 April 20th, 2015 RA The First: A Look into the Dachau Concentration

2014). Gates marked with the words Arbeit macht Frei , or work makes freedom or work liberates , led
to Dachau, the first concentration camp instated during the Holocaust. Although there is much known
about Dachau and concentration camps in general, there is still some intrigue surrounding the first

happenings and the legacy it has left behind. On February 27th of 1933, the Reichstag, the German
parliament building, was burned completely down. To this day, nobody really knows who set the
building on fire. Hitler took the arson as an opportunity to put blame on the Communists, but
Communists believed that Hitler s own party started the fire so that they could sabotage the
Communists. Even some non Nazi Germans thought that Hitler was behind it, but there was nothing
they could do about it. If they spoke out there was a risk that they would be accused of being
Communist sympathizers (Bergen, 2003). Hitler s answer to this atrocity was to target the
Communists, and soon Dachau was opened. Dachau was the very first concentration camp instated by
the Nazi party. Located in a small

him if rude society could rightfully Accompany the greatness of thy blood, / And hold their level with

of reputation and attempt to be wondered at by the people, in order to be regarded as kingly. Hal

Product Description Of Rat And Monkey Based Experiments Essay
Adipotide: Product Description
Adipotide is a synthetic peptide that possesses anti obesity properties. this peptide particularly targets
and destroys specific proteins that constitute the surface of blood vessels that support white fat
(adipose) tissue hence interfering with the supply of blood to the fat cells and resulting in their
adoptosis (reabsorption and metabolization). Adipotide was initially referred to as Prohibitin TP01
(Prohibitin Targeting Peptide 1). It is a peptidomimetic that was synthesized by American scientists as
a potential therapeutic drug for obesity and its amino acid sequence is CKGGRAKDC GG
D(KLAKLAK)2. Adipotide has a molecular formula of C111H204N36O28S2. Peptidomimetics are
tiny protein like chains that imitate peptides. It is an experimental drug for weight loss. It was
developed in a way that enables it to bind to two receptors, prohibitin and ANXA2 which are found in
blood vessels that support white adipose tissue. In rat and monkey based experiments, Adipotide has
been shown to bring about rapid weight loss in both mice and rhesus monkeys. In general, Adipotide
has been observed to bring about weight loss by reducing fat tissue especially in the abdominal
region), rapid metabolic changes, and decreased food intake. Product History

a substantial rebuilding programme. In the first 20 years after the Second World War, many buildings

These responsibilities included the reclamation of land, the provision of transport infrastructure,
environmental improvement and the attraction of private sector investment. The LDDC acquired land
and promoted transport development in the form of the Docklands Light Railway and London City

to achieve in the Docklands. They were basically to improve the economic, social and physical aspects
of the area. To improve the economic aspect of the area, they had to create jobs for the unemployed
who were living in the Docklands. To do this, they had to bring in major companies. The LDDC
decided to provide a good infrastructure to the area. They provided the gas, electric and roads.
Transport was a main problem, so £600 million was spent on transport, and another £300 million on
just the Docklands Railway.
3. a) Many office buildings were built, including Canary Wharf. Large newspaper companies were
attracted to the Docklands, away from Fleet Street because of the new Canary Wharf building. This is
one of the tallest buildings in England, at 800ft high and boasting 50 stories. Companies were
attracted to Canary Wharf because of the quality of it with air conditioning, deep floors, and open
office space. Building space in London was short and expensive.

Attacks on Religious Figures in Chronicle of a Death...
In Columbian culture, society is hierarchical in which authority figures, mainly those involved in
religion and justice, are considered to have a great deal of influence and responsibility towards the
town they preside over. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez,
Marquez attacks this idea and suggests that these figures are superficial and unimportant. He does this
mainly through the religious and judicial figures of the Bishop, priest, police officer and the colonel as
authority figures that ignore their duties, thus making authority in the village in illusion.
Catholicism plays an important part in Columbian society as it influences a number of its actions and
beliefs. Thus, prominent religious figures, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The self centeredness of the village is displayed through them attempting to gain personal benefits
from the bishop. Moreover, the village s church looked like a trash heap (13). Marquez use of a simile
linking the description of the church with a trash heap suggests that the townspeople have no respect
for Catholicism. As the bishop hasn t been making any attempt to convey the Catholic ideals onto the
village, the villagers have abandoned them, which thus has caused them to become selfish. This shows
how corrupted authority figures can have negative impacts on the village.
Another religious authority figure in the novel is the priest, Father Carmen Amador. Father Amador

and in doing so he s made to seem irresponsible and careless. The excuse he gives is that you have to

Father Amador is awaiting the bishop s arrival in the hope that the bishop will bring gifts to him. His

figures in Columbian society are egotistical and easily corrupted. Moreover, this also reveals the
amount of influence authority figures have, as the bishop has made the priest

may collide with the skull, then bounce back and collide with the opposite side of the skull. At the
neuronal level, blow strong enough to create a concussion has the effect of twisting or stretching of the
axons, which in turn creates swelling. In many cases, the swelling will subside and the neuron may
return to normal. However, if the swelling of the axon is severe enough, the axon may break down and
can cause permanent damage. Many athletes will experience multiple concussions over the course of
their career. Recently the NFL has stated it expects 1 in 3 former players will develop long term
cognitive issues. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, his brain has hit the back of his skull, then the front. Answer the following questions:
1. Name at least four specific brain structures {not just the lobes/cortexes} that would likely be
affected. Why do you think these structures are at risk for damage in a hit like the one described
above?
2. What are the functions of these four structures?
3. Based on the functions of the brain areas you identified above, what temporary symptoms would
you expect to see as result from trauma to these brain areas and why?
4. Since football players are at risk for experiencing multiple concussions during their lifetime, what
type of long term issues would you expect to see from more permanent damage to the brain areas you
identified above and why?
5. Based on what you have written, what type of regulations would you recommend for how soon a
player (of any sport) can return after a concussion?
6. Would you allow your own child to participate in contact sports? Why or why

Serial Killers, By Flannery O Connor
In this world, there are people who are able to shoot, bludgeon, or torture a whole family and then
sleep peacefully just hours after. Serial Killers have piqued the American public s interest for
generations. In the 1970s, for example, America was enthralled by the danger and fear of Ted Bundy
and John Wayne Gacy, famous serial killers who killed a combined number of over a hundred people.
Following suit of the popularity of serial killers, they have become ingrained in our culture through
art, books, news, talk shows, and movies. A famous example of this trend is in Flannery O Connor s A
Good Man Is Hard to Find , where the antagonist, The Misfit, brutally murders a family of six. O
Connor described The Misfit as a calm, polite, analytical, morally confused, murderer with leadership
skills and strong white teeth. This archetype, a person who can be perfectly calm while being
aggressive and lacks a sense of right or wrong, has also been an interest of study in the medical field.
The medical community has come together for patients that are described as lacking a moral
conscious, naming their disorder psychopathy (Robinson). In Flannery O Connor s A Good Man Is
Hard to Find The Misfit exhibits signs of psychopathy, shown from his manipulating control over
Bobby Lee and Hiram, and staying calm while he directly and indirectly kills six people. Psychopaths,
although they differ on an individual basis, are described as fearless, seeing people as beneficial
objects,

Detriment of PSA Screening Essay
Arguably the most essential and indispensable aspect of life is the attainment and preservation of good
health. Individuals with health related complications are often prevented from leading what many
would consider to be a normal lifestyle. One of the several ailments that impedes typical human
functioning is prostate cancer. The community of experts and professionals who have dedicated their
lives to this field of study are, at this time, engaged in a substantive yet divisive and strongly
opinionated dispute regarding a test considered by some to aid in the detection of this cancer. This
highly scrutinized test is known as the prostate specific antigen test, more commonly referred to as the
PSA test. In the United States and more broadly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a fairly easy to follow rankings system or grading scale, this government health body had
previously given the PSA procedure an I grade; in other words, the screening was thought of as
inconclusive and neither the harm nor benefit could be proven by either side. In the new report, a D
grade is imparted upon the screening which signifies that it is thought of in such a negative light that
the panel recommends and advises against the test. Not many routine tests of this nature are given
such a poor status; this fact should and does lead many physicians away from the regular
administration of the screening. Not only is this test ill advised by the U.S. Preventative Services Task
Force, it has also been looked down upon in the past, in a sense, by various other respected and
knowledgeable medical organizations. For example, both the American Cancer Society and the
American Urological Association have taken a stance in opposition to routine prostate specific antigen
screenings. Using the exact scale as the one employed by the United States Preventative Services Task
Force, these two organizations have given the PSA test a C grade; this status simply means that
although they believe the interaction and dialogue between patient and physician to be crucial to

The Rise Of Post Impressionism
Impressionism was an art movement that started in the mid Nineteenth Century and peaked during the
1870s. Although Impressionism was also apparent in mediums like music and literature, its most
prominent influence was painting. As it progressed towards Post Impressionism, it opened up the art
world to stylistic rendering, deviated from realism, and introduced the world to modern and avant
garde art. This essay will discuss how it managed to do so and specifically how the movement
advanced into Post Impressionism.
To understand how Impressionism came about, we must first understand how Academic Art rose to
power. Academic Art was introduced in the Renaissance period, Old Masters such as Leonardo and
Michelangelo emphasized the need for painting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Impressionism peaked in 1870 artists such as Cézanne and Seurat started to opt out from
exhibiting altogether, and had produced their own styles. In the eighth and final Impressionist
exhibition, it was suggested that the title Impressionist be dropped as the artists who aligned with its
characteristics were not present, and pieces were judged by its own merit rather than as a group.
Manet s death in 1883 had also signaled the breakup of the Impressionists, being one of the initiators
of the movement. Therefore, the lack of common ideas between the artists led them to work
independently, form new ideas and techniques which led to Post Impressionism.
In conclusion, Post Impressionism itself was not a singular style, but was unified through the rejection
of Impressionism and many post impressionist artists served as inspiration for many movements to
come such as Fauvism, Symbolism, Expressionism and avant garde art in general.
The inherent limitations and discontent in forms of expression was what drove artists from academic
art into Impressionism. It became the first movement to question and redefine what was acceptable
and considered as art. Similarly, the same was done to progress from Impressionism into Post
Impressionism. People have realized the need for constant reevaluation and experimentation to
innovate new ideas fitting for the progressive

Underground Economies And Its Effects On Canada
This paper looks into the different types of underground economies and its effects on Canada, and
argues that underground economy is destructive to the society and should be eliminated as much as
possible. With evidence from Statistics Canada, it shows the percentage of how much the black market
is affecting the GDP. It also discusses the main causes as to why some sellers choose to be in the
underground economy and how they could benefit from it temporarily. Underground economies in a
long run are invisible actions that creates very visible consequences, including the vicious cycle of
low tax revenue, less quality and quantity in public goods, discourage in money circulation,
drawbacks to GDP, lowered employment rate and a society that ... Show more content on

All kinds of goods and services are available in an underground economy. The most commonly traded
goods and services are goods and services that are available in the official market, but at a lower cost
in the black market; or goods and services that has a limited supply in the official market, but are sold
at an elevated price in the Black market. Despite the trade being illegal, as long as both the seller and
buyer comes to an agreement on the price, they trade privately with cash to avoid being detected.
Although many sellers get away with this, at the end of the day underground economy is a continued
cycle of affecting the country and its citizens, including sellers and buyers in the black market, mostly
its tax revenues will be affected, then the GDP, and finally its citizens. All Black market trades are
done in the shadows, but if the root causes of the continued growth in the underground economy are
known, things could be done to eliminate the number of black market trades as much as possible.
Underground economy is disruptive to the society, to avoid these negative effects; it should be
eliminated as much as possible.
The unreported economy causes tax evasion and that affects everybody in Canada. There are various
negative effects regarding the black market; doubtful the most significant one is the effect it has on tax
revenues the unreported economy. Tax revenue is the sum of all different kinds of taxes collected

Watch Dogs 2 Research Papers
In Watch Dogs 2, the player takes control of Marcus Holloway, a young hacker from Oakland who
was convicted of a crime he didn t commit due to the Big Brother like surveillance system ctOS 2.0.
Afterward, he sets out to take down the mal purposed software and Blume, the company behind it. To
accomplish this, he enlists with the hacktivist group DedSec and takes on a variety of missions in and
around San Francisco. While first playing the game, I noticed how different it felt from the original
entry in the series. Instead of opening with cut scenes of a digital heist gone wrong followed by the
traumatic death of the main character s niece, the game starts off by tasking the player to break into a
guarded server farm while fun electronic music plays in the background. They even throw in a
Mission Impossible reference in the first lines of dialogue when a mysterious digitally altered voice
says: Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to bypass Blume s security doors and get inside
(Watch Dogs 2). However, Watch Dogs 2 felt less like its own unique hackable world like the first
game and more like Grand Theft Auto with a tech focus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The game creates satiric versions of organizations such as the hacktivist group Anonymous (DedSec),
the Church of Scientology (New Dawn), tech companies Google and SpaceX (Nudle and Galilei), and
even the Oakland Police Force. The game was also very representative of many minority groups. The
game s playable character, Marcus is black. Another member of DedSec, Josh, has Asperger s
Syndrome, and Miranda Comay, a transgender woman. Through the inclusion of these organizations
and characters, the game acknowledges the diverse range of communities within San Francisco and

The Global warming being the major problem and the fact that consumption of non renewable
resources is the reason behind it. The Future is considering complete utilization of renewable
resources as energy consumption, like wind energy, solar energy, tidal energy, etc. Particularly when it
comes solar energy, there are many techniques through which we can harvest solar energy as fuel and

Rooftop mounted transpired solar collectors:
This type of transpired solar collector is installed on the building s roof top (see figure 2a) and these

Let us see some of the researches done on transpired solar collectors and their outcomes.
Photovoltaic Transpired solar collectors:
This hybrid transpired solar collector (see figure 3) was developed to simultaneously produce heat and
electric energy using solar radiation [1]. In 1998 (Hollick) and 2008 (Delisle), conducted experiment
by bonding photovoltaic cells to transpired solar collectors, but results were not satisfactory as the
thermal efficiency turned out to be less than that of conventional

This is in agreeance with published results, where the USDA has deemed most samples of raw spinach to contain 0.0029 wt% of iron.3 Although our results seem to reflect this real value, the high value of error observed in these results must still be accounted for, as well as the shortcoming of or results compared to those from the USDA. Firstly, it is possible that this apparent lower value observed here may be a result of loss of sample in the transportation, measuring, and funneling of the ash across multiple measuring devices, which may cause some loss of sample from the anticipated 0.9343 g leading to lower amount of iron being analytically measured. Additionally, the filtering step of the procedure was somewhat of a challenge considering that elution was a very slow process that required series of washes using the 15 mL of HCl. These washes needed to be quick since we had a limited amount of time to complete these experiments, and so it is possible that some sample may have been lost in the interest of completing the experiment in time. Simple methods to resolve these issues would be to repeat the experiment with an adequate amount of time, as well as a more controlled environment where sample loss may be minimized, perhaps a fume hood. It is also a possibility that this deviation in results may simply be a result of the sample itself; the USDA data

  • 4. Characteristics of Drama History of Drama Ancient Drama The origins of Western drama can be traced to the celebratory music of 6th century BC Attica, the Greek region centered on Athens. Although accounts of this period are inadequate, it appears that the poet Thespis developed a new musical form in which he impersonated a single character and engaged a chorus of singer dancers in dialogue. As the first composer and soloist in this new form, which came to be known as tragedy, Thespis can be considered both the first dramatist and the first actor. Of the hundreds of works produced by Greek tragic playwrights, only 32 plays by the three major innovators in this new art form survive. Aeschylus created the possibility of developing conflict between characters by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Subject matter was drawn from nature and natural man (such as the supposedly untouched Native American). Perhaps one of the best examples of Romantic drama is Faust (Part I, 1808; Part II, 1832) by the German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Based on the classic legend of the man who sells his soul to the devil, this play of epic proportions depicts humankind s attempt to master all knowledge and power in its constant struggle with the universe. The Romantics focused on emotion rather than rationality, drew their examples from a study of the real world rather than the ideal, and glorified the idea of the artist as a mad genius unfettered by rules. Romanticism thus gave rise to a vast array of dramatic literature and production that was often undisciplined and that often substituted emotional manipulation for substantial ideas. Romanticism first appeared in Germany, a country with little native theatre other than rustic farces before the 18th century. By the 1820s Romanticism dominated the theatre of most of Europe. Many of the ideas and practices of Romanticism were evident in the late 18th century Sturm und Drang movement of Germany led by Goethe and the dramatist Friedrich Schiller. These plays had no single style but were generally strongly emotional, and, in their experimentation with form, laid the groundwork for the rejection of Neo Classicism. The plays of the ... • 5. The Political System Of The United States Roger Darlington has said that the United States is the most powerful nation on earth; politically, economically and militarily(1). Even though the U.S. is the second largest democracy in the world, India being the first, it is considered rare, compared to other systems in the world. Where did the founders of the U.S. get their ideas for the political system we have today? The U.S. political system is made up of many components and there are several factors the contributed to what the U.S. political system is today. Such as, where the foundations of the U.S. government came from, the American idea of government, the characteristics of American society and political culture, and the values and principles of American democracy. The founding fathers were wise and had great experience in politics and government, however they could not produce ideas for a political system of a country by just using their wisdom and experience. The founding fathers needed to look at history to find some answers. One aspect that the founding fathers explored was the government systems of ancient Greece and Rome. Aristotle and the Greeks were the first to propose the idea of natural law. The system of direct, rather than representative democracy, was developed in Athens, Greece. In Athens, citizens directly governed themselves. They were allowed to participate in debates, voting, and law making. American Revolution Reflection Alexander Hamilton a great founder so great there have been many biographies written and a broadway play capturing the eyes, ears, and minds of a diverse audience. With all the flashing lights amazing choreography and lyricism of the rap performed in this play the mass society that believes solely in the message of diversity and the building of our country by an immigrant can not truly see who Hamilton really was as a founder. The representation he built in the office he created of himself is far from the images of Hamilton represented in Hamilton: The American Revolution by Lin Manuel Miranda and Jeremy Carter. This play does not represent the time as it was, but as we wish it would be: a period of fighting for equality for all: for men, for women, and for slaves. Irresponsibly does it sprinkle in small details of history bringing forth a light of immaculate freedom and omitting the cold facts, we do not wish to open our eyes. It is ,however, entertaining. The entertainment value is much more important than the false information being expressed in this play. For those that believe they are paying purely for the entertainment think about the lesson being taken away from the viewing. The perception of fighting for equality that is being expressed throughout the entertainment. Vehicle 1 drove approximately 229 feet through the grass before he returned to the roadway. In returning to the roadway, Driver 1 overcorrected his steering and continued in a southwest direction across both lanes of CR 672, for approximately 76 feet, as Vehicle 1 rotated slightly in a counterclockwise direction. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle for the distance of 76 feet. The result of this speed loss was less than 1 mile per hour in the overall speed loss of Vehicle 1 and was not factored into the overall speed loss for Vehicle 1. After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be considered. I utilized the coefficient of friction values based on skid testing conducted by the Institute of Police Technology and Management, (IPTM). IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 1.50 for a vehicle furrowing. For this speed analysis, I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle. I utilized the sine value of the angle determined by the path of travel of Vehicle 1 versus the angle of approach at measured distances during the rotation. In conjunction with the standard speed loss equation, the sine value is applied to the coefficient of friction value. The result based on this analysis is a speed loss range of 22.85 mph to 29.50 miles per hour during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Class Between Class And Class Essay Economic class division in the United States is simultaneously one of the most visible and invisible issues facing this nation today. Unlike issues that many passionate individuals aren t afraid to voice their opinions on such as racism, sexism, climate change, and marriage equality, the issue of class divide is like the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about or address. As Bell Hooks puts it, author of Where We Stand: Class Matters, Racism and sexism can be exploited in the interests of class power. Yet no one wants to talk about class. (Hooks 7) The fact that discussions of class and class divide have become such a taboo in the United States is truly disappointing. Class, more than race or gender, is the single biggest factor in determining someone s success. Therefor, it should go without saying that discussions and open dialog about class are crucial in this society in order to advances its citizens and promote success with as many people as possible. It wasn t always like this. There was indeed a time in our history when class was talked about, a time when the poor were cared for, not seen as second class citizens or a taboo. David Hilfiker describes an earlier time in our history as a nation when it was just assumed that a physician would care for the poor. However, in more recent times Hilfiker finds himself regarded almost as a saint because he chooses to work with the poor. (Hooks 41) Although the precise point at which this switch in logic ... Considering those 15 hours per week are not conducted at regular times or in regular places (Sharples 2003), the potential use is considerable. That potential is likely to increase as the information age accelerates. People will need to be able access information faster and more effectively if they are to increase their employability, business success, personal fulfilment and social development (Lowey, 2003). mLearning provides people with the opportunity to access information where it would previously have been impossible. The protagonists of the plays, Faustus and Prospero respectively, seek the power of knowledge and find it in magic, which is a superhuman source of power. Despite the losses Faustus and Prospero suffer, they think magic is right on the grounds that it gets them what they want. Magic is a means of achieving one s ends without effort and transcending the limitations of the human condition (Paris 264). But when Faustus and Prospero renounce magic at the end of events, they abjure the means that gave them power and knowledge. Studies show that banking eggs at an younger age increases the likelihood of having a successful birth after. However, these studies also show that women who bank their eggs earlier are less likely to use them, because they have more time to conceive naturally. Keep in mind, these findings don t apply if you re freezing your eggs due to health issues that impact your fertility directly. So, what s the recommended age for egg freezing if you don t have any health threats? However, most doctors say that freezing your eggs before the age of 37 is fine. This recommended age is when the quality and quantity of a woman s egg is still suitable for egg freezing. What if I m older than 37 years? Good news: Women still conceive naturally at this age. The CDC reports that nearly 120,000 women in their 40s give a birth every year in the United States, with only 9% of these births resulting from IVF. However, at some point in their 40s, women experience Diminished Ovarian Reserve. This means that women no longer have healthy eggs to fertilize naturally or retrieve for preservation. The condition may occur at younger age due to disease or injury, but it most commonly occurs as a result of the normal aging process. Dr. Dominic Stoop suggests the ideal age for the egg freezing is 31 35. However, although eggs from women in 36 40 years will result in fewer pregnancies because of lower egg quality, he adds that these women may still benefit given the accelerated age related decline in fertility after the age of 40 years . In other words, if you re 36 or older and you re not trying to conceive right now, you re more likely achieve pregnancy success later if you freeze your eggs

Father Amador gets the opportunity to inform Placida Linero about her son s impending death, however he does not, and in doing so he s made to seem irresponsible and careless. The excuse he gives is that you have to understand that the bishop was coming on the unfortunate day (71). Much like the rest of the village, Father Amador is awaiting the bishop s arrival in the hope that the bishop will bring gifts to him. His occupation in attempting to receive gifts rather than saving someone s life symbolises how authority figures in Columbian society are egotistical and easily corrupted. Moreover, this also reveals the amount of influence authority figures have, as the bishop has made the priest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Head Injury Case Study Do not write this assignment as question/answer. Put everything together as one complete essay. Your brain sits in your skull and is surrounded by cerebral fluid. When a head injury occurs, the brain may collide with the skull, then bounce back and collide with the opposite side of the skull. At the neuronal level, blow strong enough to create a concussion has the effect of twisting or stretching of the axons, which in turn creates swelling. In many cases, the swelling will subside and the neuron may return to normal. However, if the swelling of the axon is severe enough, the axon may break down and can cause permanent damage. Many athletes will experience multiple concussions over the course of their career. Recently the NFL has stated it expects 1 in 3 former players will develop long term cognitive issues. ... Serial Killers have piqued the American public s interest for generations. In the 1970s, for example, America was enthralled by the danger and fear of Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy, famous serial killers who killed a combined number of over a hundred people. Following suit of the popularity of serial killers, they have become ingrained in our culture through art, books, news, talk shows, and movies. A famous example of this trend is in Flannery O Connor s A Good Man Is Hard to Find , where the antagonist, The Misfit, brutally murders a family of six. O Connor described The Misfit as a calm, polite, analytical, morally confused, murderer with leadership skills and strong white teeth. This archetype, a person who can be perfectly calm while being aggressive and lacks a sense of right or wrong, has also been an interest of study in the medical field. The medical community has come together for patients that are described as lacking a moral conscious, naming their disorder psychopathy (Robinson). In Flannery O Connor s A Good Man Is Hard to Find The Misfit exhibits signs of psychopathy, shown from his manipulating control over Bobby Lee and Hiram, and staying calm while he directly and indirectly kills six people. Individuals with health related complications are often prevented from leading what many would consider to be a normal lifestyle. One of the several ailments that impedes typical human functioning is prostate cancer. The community of experts and professionals who have dedicated their lives to this field of study are, at this time, engaged in a substantive yet divisive and strongly opinionated dispute regarding a test considered by some to aid in the detection of this cancer. In a fairly easy to follow rankings system or grading scale, this government health body had previously given the PSA procedure an I grade; in other words, the screening was thought of as inconclusive and neither the harm nor benefit could be proven by either side. In the new report, a D grade is imparted upon the screening which signifies that it is thought of in such a negative light that the panel recommends and advises against the test. Not many routine tests of this nature are given such a poor status; this fact should and does lead many physicians away from the regular administration of the screening. Not only is this test ill advised by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force, it has also been looked down upon in the past, in a sense, by various other respected and knowledgeable medical organizations. For example, both the American Cancer Society and the American Urological Association have taken a stance in opposition to routine prostate specific antigen screenings. Using the exact scale as the one employed by the United States Preventative Services Task Force, these two organizations have given the PSA test a C grade; this status simply means that although they believe the interaction and dialogue between patient and physician to be crucial to ... As it progressed towards Post Impressionism, it opened up the art world to stylistic rendering, deviated from realism, and introduced the world to modern and avant garde art. This essay will discuss how it managed to do so and specifically how the movement advanced into Post Impressionism. After Impressionism peaked in 1870 artists such as Cézanne and Seurat started to opt out from exhibiting altogether, and had produced their own styles. In the eighth and final Impressionist exhibition, it was suggested that the title Impressionist be dropped as the artists who aligned with its characteristics were not present, and pieces were judged by its own merit rather than as a group. Manet s death in 1883 had also signaled the breakup of the Impressionists, being one of the initiators of the movement. Therefore, the lack of common ideas between the artists led them to work independently, form new ideas and techniques which led to Post Impressionism. In conclusion, Post Impressionism itself was not a singular style, but was unified through the rejection of Impressionism and many post impressionist artists served as inspiration for many movements to come such as Fauvism, Symbolism, Expressionism and avant garde art in general. The inherent limitations and discontent in forms of expression was what drove artists from academic art into Impressionism. It became the first movement to question and redefine what was acceptable and considered as art. Similarly, the same was done to progress from Impressionism into Post Impressionism. People have realized the need for constant reevaluation and experimentation to innovate new ideas fitting for the progressive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
