Getting Away And Going Camping With The Family
Getting away and going camping with the family can be a very rewarding time, not to mention a ton
of fun. But if you have a toddler that you must take with you, it will present a set of unique problems.
You will need to keep your toddler occupied, safe, and entertained. Here s how. 1. Don t try and travel
too far at one time with a toddler in the car. Three hours of traveling is about the limit for a toddler.
You will then need to stop and get out of the car. Give the toddler some time to move around a bit and
get some fresh air. The exercise will do him good and he may get tired out enough that he may sleep
during the next leg of the trip. Be sure to bring some snack foods with you to give him something to
munch on. 2. Also consider where your toddler will sleep. Is he used to sleeping on something other
than a bed? If he is, then you don t have anything to worry about. But if he isn t, then you may need to
do some thinking concerning sleeping arrangements. 3. Be careful where you camp. I don t think you
want to be too close to a lake or pond. Your toddler could wander in that direction very quickly
without you noticing. In fact, you need to keep an eye on him constantly. There are many hazards in a
camping environment that could injure him. 4. Be sure to make the trip fun for the toddler. Try and
arrange things that will be fun for him to do. The lake or pond can be fun; he just can t do that by
himself. As long as you accompany him and keep a tight grip on his

Sisyphus Deception
Albert Camus, a French philosopher who tries to decipher a meaningful world through the trails and
tribulation of life. His piece, The Myth of Sisyphus can be interpreted that the essay represents man s
struggle to belong, an endless journey to achieve, and a glimpse of his own fate. Sisyphus is the
absurd hero. He is, as much through his passions as through his torture . (Camus, The Myth of
Sisyphus)
There is scarcely any person without struggle. (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus) Sisyphus is a devious
mortal creature who is willing to betray his fellow man. Having minimal respect for his gods,
Sisyphus has a willingness to deceive in order to receive what he wants. Sisyphus has a profession as a
highwayman, where he lays his own path in life, often finding hardship and wanting to have what

Just as Sisyphus deceived his own wife, man deceives man. Somehow, man can look past his
deception and justify it with the thought process that their deception has not hurt anyone. There is a
multitude of scenarios in which I find myself like Sisyphus but it is the one man who changes those
patterns. It is the one man who finds himself, moving away from the norm and what society portrays
as truth. When that man emerges, it is difficult but courageous. It is a meaningful transformation that
will assist in helping others find who they were meant to be.
There is no fate that can not be surmounted by scorn. (Camus, The Myth Of Sisyphus) Having a
glimpse of your own fate is for those who choose to continue the struggle of the uphill climb and the
repetitive fall, and untrustworthy happiness. They will always be tormented as Sisyphus was, because
they will always be searching for something they can t find. The lack of fulfillment will devastate
them spiritually, emotionally and mentally. The stability of man will falter and the foundation they

Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion
Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In
many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the
trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose
again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from
Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also
have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The first
difference between the two religions is their services. Roman Catholic services are held in sanctuaries
that are richly decorated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the practice of praying to
Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out and ordered, with much less participation
by the church members during the service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the
partaking of Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the members
are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each service and is always presided
over by the priest. The members believe that they are consuming the actual body and blood of Christ
during Communion, and are required to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect.
Communion is believed to be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required
to obtain salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually reserved
for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may partake every few months
or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally presides over Communion, any member
designated by the church can do so. Baptist religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to
Communion, and believe it to be a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body
and blood of Christ are consumed during Communion. The

flaws in the oversight of the studies as well as how data was recorded and provided to governing

Strategic Bombing Of The Ussr Essay
Even before the end of the Second World War, the USSR was a very secretive and closed society. US
intelligence had little to no information about Soviet military strength and did not even have accurate
maps of the USSR. The best aerial photographs available to western planners were from the Luftwaffe
and had been captured by the allies at the end of WWII. Outside of these captured photos, virtually no
maps or aerial photography existed of the USSR, especially those areas in the Urals, Siberia and the
Far East. As victory in WWII appeared imminent, the USAAF under General Hap Arnold
commissioned studies to assess the impact of strategic bombing in the war. In addition to results about
strategic bombing, the U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey (USSBS) concluded that the U.S. should have
an intelligence organization capable of knowing the strategic vulnerabilities, capabilities and
intentions of any potential enemy. In spite of the aforementioned dearth of intelligence on the USSR,
very specific information was needed for military and political leaders to make decisions regarding
their strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities. Additionally, the strategic bomber forces needed a list of
verified targets in case conflict with the USSR broke out. In order to fill the major voids in
information the US civilian leaders employed a bifurcated approach: human intelligence (HUMINT)
obtained through agency operatives, and signals (SIGINT) and imagery (IMINT) intelligence acquired

Ischemic Stroke: An Overview
Section One: Introduction My name is Shankar Pattabhiraman, and I am an incoming senior at New
Albany High School. I will be graduating in June of 2016, and I am thinking of pursuing a chemical or
biomedical engineering major in college, or possibly biochemistry or neuroscience. My career goal is
to become a physician, or perhaps a physician scientist. I am especially interested in neurology related
fields, and this interest has been reinforced in several ways: participating in the 2015 National Brain
Bee Championships competition in Baltimore, MD, volunteering at Riverside Methodist Hospital in
the Neurocritical Care Unit and the Stroke and Brain Center, and helping Tony Hall and his friends
who suffer from neurological disorders and diseases. I chose to study ischemic strokes because I am
interested in neuropathology, both clinically and through research. In addition, through my
volunteering at RMH, I have worked with patients who have suffered from strokes, and while the
symptoms onset is sudden, the events leading up to the stroke are long term but rarely treatable.
Section Two: Background
Ischemic stroke is the blockage of blood vessels in the brain as a result of blood clots (thrombi),
causing the portions of the brain nourished by the vessel and its tributaries to be starved of nutrients,
poisoned, and to eventually die ( Symptoms

The Change In Macbeth And Lady Macbeth s Wickedness
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, there are multitude of changes throughout the play within
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth s wickedness. A metamorphosis takes place deep inside both characters;
however, the changes oppose each other. The witches chant: The weird sisters, hand in hand, posters
of the sea and land, thus do go about, thrice to thine and thrice to mine and thrice again, to mine and
thrice again, to make up nine. Peace! The charms wound up. (Act 1.2 Lines ) The witches pour
prophecies into Macbeth giving him an insight of what is to come in his future as King of Scotland.

After receiving a letter from Macbeth, her first thought is about hoe to convince Macbeth to become
King. She thinks to herself: Yet do I fear thy nature it is too full o th milk of human kindness... Hie
thee hither, That I may pour my spirits in thine ear and chastise with the valor of my tongue all that
impedes thee from the golden round. (Act 1.5 Lines 13 15 and Lines 22 25). When he returns home,
she says Look like the time; bear welcome on you eye (Act 1.4 Line 61). She implies that with the
strength she has she will over power Macbeth thought and get him to the throne to make it their own.
Lady Macbeth has a lot in mind and through all the thoughts that are cramming into her head only one
stuck, and it was to kill King Duncan while he is asleep. It is time for their rebellious move to become
the new reign of Scotland. Macbeth is still not up for the murder of his King because King Duncan is
loyal to Macbeth as he is with King Duncan. Lady Macbeth does not care she would love to go ahead
and kill him and become Queen of Scotland for her to conduct this horrible crime she has in mind.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have to wait till everyone leaves the castle. Later on that night, Macbeth
is feeling delusional he starts to imagine the dagger that he will kill King Duncan with. Macbeth says:
is this the dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand...A dagger of the mind, a false
creation proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? (Act 2.2 Lines 32 33 and Lines 37 and 38)
Throughout all the trauma, Macbeth loses his mind he kills the King and the guards without knowing
what he was doing. As soon he becomes King of Scotland, he kills with no hesitation. Macbeth kills
his best friend Banquo and Macduff s family. The people of Scotland hates him because of all the evil

What Does It Mean To Be Professional
In my opinion, to be professional means a litany of things. In specific, being professional means: to
take your work seriously, to be polite to others, to better yourself through feedback, to be reliable, and
to be trustworthy. These are just a few characteristics of a professional.
Teachers which excel in the profession of education are those who are continuous learners. At the end
of the day, teachers who continuously focus on bettering themselves, their classroom, and adapt their
learning environment to meet environmental changes, excel in the profession. A teacher which strives
to excel is critical of themselves. They work to improve their lesson plans even when they feel they
are perfect. A teacher which excels uses veteran teachers as

Gestalt Therapy Essay
Gestalt Therapy
I. Summary and Integration of Major Concepts
Founded by Frederick (Fritz) and Laura Perls in the 1940 s, Gestalt therapy is a phenomenological
existential methodology which emphasizes experience and experimentation. Gestalt is a German term
that means a complete pattern or configuration (p. 112). Though there are many modalities and styles
in Gestalt therapy, it is holistic in its approach uniting mind, body, and feeling (p. 112). Some concepts
at the core of Gestalt therapy are the organism as a whole , emphasis on the here and now , and
awareness (pp. 223 225). Perls believed that human beings are unified organisms (p.223) and that
mind and body were not separate entities. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

II. Breakthroughs and Steps in Learning Practicing Client Centered therapy helped me get over most
of my fear and apprehension about performing as therapist and client in front of my classmates. So, as
we (the class) began our first session in Gestalt I initially felt less nervous about participating, in fact,
I volunteered to be the first client in my group during the first demonstration. Just like client centered
therapy, I had again been in a group that was assigned to Dr. Fiebert and I felt fortunate to have him
demonstrate because I knew that I would learn a great deal given his years of experience. I had learned
through the reading and class lecture that this was a therapy that called for the therapist to be creative
in getting the client to express emotions and feelings. I was anxious to see what creative techniques
Dr. Fiebert would employ. He began the session by asking me what I was aware of and I told him that
I was feeling some tension in my neck and shoulders. He then asked me to describe the tension, rate
the level of tension on a scale of 1 10, increase the tension and relate it to and experience or incident
in my life. I linked to a recent situation I had experienced with my mother, whom he then brought in to
the empty chair to begin the

Teens Should Have After School Jobs
Why Teens Should Have After School Jobs. When teens go into high school, they come to the point
where getting a job is an opportunity. Most teens have parents that will push them to get a job as soon
as they turn sixteen. Most non fast food jobs only hire eighteen year olds. This causes a lot of stress
for the teen, juggling a job and school at the same time. Some teens are also in advanced classes, or in
extracurricular activities. Depending on how many hours they need to work these teens could possibly
have to quit their extra activity. Although this can be very stressful for teens, all teens need an after
school job, so they can have some experience on what the adult life has in store. When it comes to a

Caribbean Integration
CARIBBEAN POLITICS and SOCIETY
Caribbean Integration
Rationale for Integration.
The Caribbean remains fragmented both economically and politically as a result of competition and
conflict among the European powers. Fragmentation is in part the product of a long history as separate
colonies of a metropolitan power or powers. It is also in part the psychological effects on people of
separation by sea.
The case for regional integration is both simple and irrefutable. First we are small and we need to
achieve economies of scale. We need to achieve such economies in markets, production, the
mobilisation of regional capital for regional use, university education, science and technology, sea and
air transport to mention some areas.

Psychological Dependence on the outside world
In spite of our achievements in many fields of endeavour, we still have a strong sense of psychological
dependence on things external particularly North American, Europe, and some of the bigger countries
of Latin America. We still (as good ex colonials) see big countries in the hemisphere and in Europe as
being some sense better (intrinsincally and not just economically) than out individual countries and
the other West Indian countries and we sometimes carry this perception into the field of international
relations.

Mandatory Overtime In Nursing
Nurses have a professional obligation to be informed about staffing as part of their concern and
obligation to patients that they are caring for. Why? As nurses, having enough staff to cover all
patients, and possible patients that are coming in are very important to make sure that nurses are not
overloaded. However, nurse managers, charge nurses and other administration staff of the hospital or
organization are responsible of staffing, all nurses are still held responsible to their patients and the
profession as a nurse. Any companies or organization that you work for, it is best to make sure that the
department has enough staff. Professional variability can have a negative effect on staffing and

If nurses are sleepy, and burnout, they might tend to find a shortcut of giving care to the patient. These
kind of shortcut can create medication errors, poor quality of care given, and can cause death. For
example, at my current clinical site, the nurse that I was shadowing told me story about his co worker
and a very good friend. She was a single mother, and the hospital required for them to work
mandatory overtime. As a single mother, when you come home from a 12hours shift, your job do not
stop. Basically, what happened was the single mother had a young patient age 8 10 that was about to
be discharged, and for some reason, an insulin was ordered by the MD to be given to that healthy

How Did Edgar Degas s Use Of Visual Impairments
A comparative analysis of two works by 20th and 21st century artists, Edgar Degas and John
Bramblitt, where a discussion of their lives, their techniques and of course their works comes into
focus. One of the main comparisons between these two artists is how visual impairments in both their
cases affected their works. Whilst Degas s works became more hurried and quick although not losing
his precision, Bramblitt s work still remained patient and calculated.
Dancers ca. 1900 by Degas is a study drawing of what was later to be Dancers VI. It portrays three
women dancing, although one seems to be centrally placed and in focus with two other women behind
her dancing. This portrait of dancing women, is a draft done in pastels, with the expert mixing of
various other materials such as gouache, tempera. This is attributed to the experimental nature of
Edgar Degas s methods and techniques of creating his works. The lines are not sharp and crisp as you

White is very thick like toothpaste while Ivory Black is fairly runny more like oil. By adding a little
thinner you can make it even more so. In order to mix a gray halfway between white and black you
simply mix for a texture that is halfway between the thick and thin paints. This is actually a very
precise way of mixing color because your sense of touch is extremely adept at sensing subtle changes
in texture. With practice it becomes even more so. (Bramblitt,

The Boundaries Of Childhood Amnesia Essay
Understanding the boundaries of childhood amnesia has become a large discussion among researchers.
Over the years, researchers have developed multiple theories of the boundaries of childhood amnesia
for adults, adolescents, and as well for children by using different methodology of measurement
(Usher Neisser, 1993; Eacott Crawley, 1998; Macdonald et al., 2000; Peterson et al., 2000; Tusin and
Hayne 2010; Wang Peterson, 2014 2016). Childhood amnesia occurs when adults are unable to recall
memories from their childhood. Although, this definition is still up for debate on whether or not
childhood amnesia only occurs for adults, a specific gender, specific cross cultural difference, or if the
boundaries fluctuate over development (Macdonald et al., 2000; Peterson et al., 2000; Wang Peterson,
2014). While there are still many variables researcher s must consider when studying childhood
amnesia, there is a common theme that arises throughout the research. Researchers are intrigued in the
boundaries of childhood amnesia and how using different methods provides different might alter the
perspectives and outcomes for how long childhood amnesia lasts after birth (Usher Neisser, 1993;
Eacott Crawley, 1998; Macdonald et al., 2000; Peterson et al., 2000; Tusin and Hayne 2010; Wang

Themes InThe Rememberer And Jealous Husband Return In Form...
Many stories have similar themes, The Rememberer by Aimee Bender and Jealous Husband Returns
in Form of Parrot by Robert Olen Butler are two short stories that do. In The Rememberer, Ben is
going through reverse evolution and Annie and Ben both do not know why. It is implied that Ben
remembers Annie, but not completely specified. In Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot, the
husband falls out of a tree trying to catch his wife in the act of cheating and gets reincarnated into a
parrot. He remembers her, but she does not know it is him and ends up choosing and purchasing him
from the pet store, putting him back into his own home. Both stories have ironic tendencies and share
a similar theme, but have different meanings. Throughout both stories, the characters are facing
internal conflicts. In The Rememberer, Annie is dealing with Ben going through reverse evolution.
She does not know why he is going through it or what to do about it, which results in her battling
herself in her own mind. She cannot tell anyone what is going on because nobody would believe her,
she is stuck telling people that he has a strange sickness and is forced to keep it all inside. In Jealous
Husband Returns in Form of Parrot, the husband is dealing with the internal conflict of being
purchased by his wife and brought back into his home where now he is stuck seeing his wife with
other men. The conflict comes in to play with the husband because he does not have the vocabulary as
a parrot to tell her that it is him. Throughout the two stories, the men are both, somehow, turned into
animals.
They both may have turned into animals, in one way or another, but those ways are different. In The
Rememberer, Ben first turns into an ape, but then turns into a sea turtle, just to turn into a salamander.
Whereas, in Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot, the only animal he is turned into is a parrot.
Another difference between the two circumstances is, Ben is going through reverse evolution, so he is
turning into many different animals, and the husband went through reincarnation after he fell out of
the tree, so he will not change forms. Although, in The Rememberer, both Annie and Ben know that he

Home From Nowhere By James Kunstler
James Kunstler in his book Home from Nowhere, slams American urban design and goes into detail
about its horrifying attributes. He calls the United States a theme park nation that needs superficial
stimulation to hide unhappiness. These conditions exist, in part, due to our association of the city with
the dirty industrial revolution rather than the more natural green environment that people prefer. He
calls the public realm the connective tissue of our everyday world. It is parks, streets, squares,
sidewalks, vistas and views and defined open space and seascapes, rural working landscapes and
wilderness and porticos and entrances to the more often private spaces of buildings. A good public
realm is important to foster interaction between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kohn writes about how this affects our civil discourse, people congregating in suburban shopping
malls creates an odd qusi public / private space leading to questions of free speech. This privatization
of the public realm would not occur in traditional society where people congregate at neighborhood
parks or downtown plazas and public sidewalks.
Perhaps some of the most intolerable consequences of poor urban design are discussed by Powell who
writes that sprawl and the fragmentation of people along social and racial lines creates inequality. This
is because historically only the middle and upper class were mobile enough to sprawl as
discriminatory housing practices disenfranchised minorities and redlined their communities. The
problem intensifies as concentrated poverty creates an environment void of opportunities and as
Kunstler has stated our auto dependent society disadvantages the poor who lack mobility.
Davis highlights these issues of the public realm, inequality, and concentrated poverty while writing
about Los Angeles. A city where the wealthy cower behind guarded walls and downtown is filled with
skyscrapers that turn inward away from the public. Davis also points out that this type of destruction
of the public realm is subsidized by LA s taxpayers who shelled out two billion dollars to lure banks

Effects Of Modernism
The Modernist era was a social and cultural movement characterised by rapid social and technological
change in the 19th and 20th century. The art movement revolved around a group of innovative artists
and art critics who challenged preconceived ideas about what good art was, and redefined
expectations. Modernism affected the ideas and practices of artists, increasing the attitude of the Avant
Garde to be original. Abstraction was explored visually and artists moved away from pictorial realism,
bringing into focus new techniques and acceptances. Abstract Expressionist was the final sub era of
Modernism. Artists started to view painting as a performance or experience, rather than a reproduction
of an object real or imagined. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He aimed to distil the core essence of each artwork through visual vocabulary; using non genre based
subject matter such as distorted shapes, squiggles and motifs. For example, in his painting
Composition IV, 1911, Kandinsky has partially disguised symbols of subject matter from the outside
world, such as boats, reclining figures, and a castle on a hilltop, beneath vibrant blocks of colour and
harsh black lines. The notion of battle is conveyed in the chaos of the composition particularly in the
way Kandinsky has juxtaposed the clashing vibrant high key colours, with the calm of the flowing
forms. This alludes to the peace and redemption to
follow. Kandinsky s formalistic approach to the biomorphic painting with a specific focus on colour,
shape and arrangement was challenging to the deeply ingrained notion that subject matter was
required to tell a narrative and realistically represent society. Kandinsky was criticised for devaluing
art in the Modernist era and promoting the notion of art for art s sake due to the abstract nature of his
work. However he argued that such artwork could create a corresponding thrill or contrast of emotion
in the audience. He said Such works of art at least preserve the soul from coarseness; they key it
up...as tuning key the strings of a musical instrument. He aimed to reveal the inner life

Amazon s Diversification Strategy Analysis
Amazon s diversification strategy Diversification strategies involve broadening the scope of an
organization across different products and market sectors. It requires an organization to explore new
experiences and knowledge outside its existing markets and products (Business Case Studies).
Strategic management is a business concept that consists of strategy analysis, creation,
implementation and monitoring, used by organizations in order to achieve and maintain a competitive
advantage (as cited by Jurevicius, 2013). The following parts discuss Amazon s strategy with a focus
on the company s competitive advantage and its customers. Amazon s Global Strategy Amazon has
been able to maintain sustainable competitive advantage because the company has adopted cost
leadership, differentiation and growth strategies. Cost Leadership Low cost leadership is pursued by
Amazon by differentiating itself primarily on the basis of price. Amazon s goal is to become customer
centric, aiming to offer a wide range of products with lower prices and convenience to its customers. It
can be seen that the company believes offering low prices and focusing on customers are fundamental
to Amazon s success. Over the time, Amazon seeks to mitigate the costs in order to lower the prices
through achieving higher sales volumes. The company also finds many ways to negotiate to obtain
better terms with their suppliers, and achieving better operating efficiencies. Amazon always ensures

How Coats s Disease Is An Idiopathic Condition...
Introduction
Coats disease is an idiopathic condition characterized by retinal vascular telangiectasia and exudative
retinopathy mostly affective young males unilaterally (1). The spectrum of Coats disease manifests
from mild to severe visual disturbance. An unusual presentation is with a macular hole and only few
case reports of this rare association exist (2)(3)(4)(5). In addition surgical treatment of macular hole
associated with Coats disease has only been described once by Wong et al in 2012 (5). We are
reporting a unique case, of macular hole in adult onset Coats disease (6)(7), which was successfully
managed with pars plana vitrectomy(PPV) and microscope integrated Optical Coherence Tomography
(MI OCT) assisted internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling to ensure hole closure. Though Wong et
al reported on closure of macular hole, they reported delayed hole closure and poor results with
conventional management. This case report highlights a better approach to achieve early macular hole
closure with better functional outcome in patients of Coats disease.

Essay
Earlier in the semester, the class was introduced to topics such as politics within Children s Literature
and learning how to be cultural critics. Both topics generated discussion that was centered around the
contributions that were made within Children s Literature and how they could deepen young reader s
understanding of the content presented to them in children books. I believe the book The Sneetches
and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss would ve been a great addition to the class reading list. In this book,
Dr. Seuss discussed topics such as discrimination, prejudice, acceptance, and tolerance which are all
topics people wouldn t think are suitable for a children s book. The themes were used as underlying
messages throughout the story and the illustration presented a visual to readers, so that they could
have a clear understanding of what Dr. Seuss was writing. The importance of the message was to bring
awareness to the issues that are present within society. Other stories include The Zax , Too Many
Daves , and What Was I Scared Of? . These stories all contribute to reaching out to help young readers
analyze and further understand others who may not always be the same as them. In Dr. Suess s The
Zax , one Zax was going North and one South but because of pride neither one moved to
accommodate the other out of respect. Too Many Daves highlights the lack of originality. It teaches

Global Economic Conditions and Market Analysis
Global economic conditions The global economic conditions have a direct bearing on the local
economic condition within the nation. This means that the product (SOC) has also be greatly affected
in terms of demand and distribution. The global economic growth has been noted to have slowed
down over 2012 and this trend is expected to be sustained over the next two years. This means there
will be a downgrade to the earlier projected growth rate, though there still will be a growth rate, albeit
at a lower pace than was hitherto foreseen. The UN Department of Economic and Social affairs (2013)
forecasts a 2.4% global growth in 2013 and a further 3.2% global growth in 2014. This means that the
recovery from the job loss that was triggered in 2008 recession takes longer. What this means for the
local microeconomic situation in the country is that more people prioritize the essential and basic
goods first and considering the daily consumption supply as a priority. This negatively impacts on my
business since the cards that are exchanged globally, particularly during the special seasons and
occasions are often considered secondary needs hence one would get into buying on either online or

Omnivore s Dilemma By Michael Pollan
Michael Pollan is the author of several New York Times bestseller books including the Omnivore s
Dilemma. He is a professor of journalism at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Michael
Pollan s perspective on food is that we should know what is in it and where it comes from, who grows
it and how. The theme of this book is the industrial revolution for food. Its purpose is to make
awareness that our food is getting its energy from our resources. Michael Pollan s goal with the
omnivore s dilemma was to shed light on the way we eat now by telling stories about how we ate then

Michael refers to the supermarket as a landscape where all species derived from the single crop of
corn. Michael tells a story about a corn field in Iowa where the farm had been passed down to the
family and was quiet successful back in the day. George s crop in inedible they are fed to livestock so
shipped to factories to be processed. His family survives from the income of his wife who works for a
social services agency. The supply of corn has greatly surpassed the demand and therefore alternative
decisions must be made as to where the corn will go which is why it is fed to cattle and other
livestock. This is Pollan s way of tracing the steps of the industrial food chain. Since corn is produced
so cheaply using synthetic nitrogen which creates a dependency on our fossil fuel resources rather
than our solar resource. The Feedlot method has produced more issues than solutions. Yes, it does
result in fattening cattle quicker which in term then produces faster meat but it results in manure that
is extremely high in concentration of phosphorous and nitrogen that cannot be used as fertilizer to
regenerate nutrients in the soil. If the soil cannot be regenerated cattle must be moved which leads to
medical problems, which were attempted to be solved using antibiotics but only increased antibiotic
resistant bacteria. These new practices benefit corporations that run them and produce easy and quick
cheap meat but Pollan warns that they come with repercussions. Some of those

Similarities Between Paley And Paleey
Paley states that if a person were to go on a walk and along the way they found a rock, they could
infer or assume that the rock could have been there forever and have not though any more about it.
However, if a person found a watch (a quaint watch with springs and with cogs) you can observe that
it has parts that move which can show:
That the watch was designed for a particular purpose: To tell the time
That the parts of the watch work together for its purpose and they fit
That the parts of the watch are ordered in such a way that it will allow the watch to function
If the watch and its parts that make it function are arranged differently then it will not work and hence
it will not achieve its purpose.

Essay on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol is the number one drug problem among America s youth. More senior high school students
use alcohol than any other psychoactive drug. Family doctors, pediatricians, schoolteachers, and
parents know that alcohol is overwhelmingly the drug of choice among today s youth, although
trendier substances such as cocaine are often given more attention in the headlines (Carla Felsted, p.
vii). Furthermore, it is widely acknowledged that drinking alcohol is a part of the youth culture in
America; it may also be understood as a culturally conditioned and socially controlled behavior.
In my generation drinking among underage kids is blamed on peers, accessibility, and adulthood.

In a study done by Paul Rhode, PhD, a scientist at the Oregon Research Institute in Eugene, he and his
colleagues evaluated whether teenagers with serious alcohol problems were likely to continue their
behavior into adulthood. Roxanne Nelson states that the researchers found that serious alcohol
problems as a teenager did predict future substance abuse, alcoholism, depression, and symptoms of
antisocial and borderline personality disorders by age 24. In addition, teenagers who were heavy
drinkers but that hadn t actually been diagnosed with a serious alcohol problem were also at some
increased risk for these same problems.
Teenagers face many difficult decisions in their lives and have many people in their lives that
influence them. One of the major groups that influence teens is their peer group. Since teenagers are
not yet comfortable with themselves, they have a strong need to be accepted by their peers. And to be
accepted, they feel they have to be just like their peers (Ruth Maxwell, p. 24). From Maxwell we learn
that teenagers will use alcohol to be accepted by a group. As age progresses the number of alcohol
users progress 73 percent of kids that are from the ages of 16 18 are drinkers. In addition, around 90
percent of high school seniors have experienced alcohol at least once in their life.

Essay on Media Portray of Environmental Issues
The way that media has portrayed environmental issues has changed radically in the past few years.
Environmental issues often aren`t considered newsworthy unless something large scale occurs with a
notable impact on everyday life. The BP oil spill in 2010 made front pages world wide, there was a
sudden push for the rescue of marine life and a general disgust for the condition of the Gulf Coast. An
outpouring of awareness came of this tragedy and mass media diligently informed audiences of every
detail as the following cleanup events unfolded. Most environmental news is not front page material.
The media gets the ultimate say in what is deemed as important.

Media draws from various sources to gather facts and assemble stories for their readership. When a
story comes out about a new scientific discovery or an impending extinction of a species, the source
must be considered. In a paper by Jeremy Corbett entitled Testing Public Uncertainty of Science he
discusses how newspapers especially just don t have the manpower to go straight to the scientific
source. Media often rely on information sourced from governmental and private entities rather than
cutting edge scientific information. This allows them to provide information that is easily understood
and likely widely accepted. Corbett gives the example of a magazine that cites scientific reports but
changes their story constantly: cell phones cause cancer, no they don`t, then months later they are back
to the initial assumption.
Awareness does not necessarily lead to change. Just because an environmental issue is brought to light
doesn t mean its going to pull at everyone s` heart strings and convince them to act. News affects
everyone a little differently and some indicating factors include education level and interest in local,
national, and international news. (Schafer, 2010, pp. 11 65) A survey cited in an article by Fredrick
Saunders showed that in 2011, 70 percent of people who follow international news say that global
warming is a serious threat, compared to 35 percent of those surveyed who do not

And the window represents our opportunities for succeeding; discover what your strengths are and

similarity is that it is just a small enough community that everyone know everyone by their name just

Net Neutrality
Many people worry that without net neutrality, we will lose our freedom.
Net Neutrality is the principle that Internet Service provider s should treat all content on the internet
equally. Most people in the United States of America want to keep net neutrality. However, the Federal
Communications Commission s chairman, Ajit Pai, wants to stop net neutrality, so many people are
protesting to keep net neutrality. Net neutrality promotes innovation and allows freedom, but is seen as
unnecessary by the Federal Communications Commission.
One reasons to keep net neutrality is to promote innovation. People can contribute to science and

Most aspects of net neutrality can be achieved without forced regulations. They say Internet Service
Providers wouldn t want to alter internet content access and speeds anyway. We should trust our
Internet Service Providers. Internet Service Providers are afraid to alter the internet because they
would quickly lose many of their customers. They say net neutrality will disincentivize companies in
low income areas. We need more focus on broadband expansion instead of regulation of companies;
some companies take more bandwidth than others, so having net neutrality overloads bandwidth on
smaller companies that don t need as much. Also, authority should be restored to the Federal Trade
Commission. Internet speeds become overall slower by spreading out bandwidth. The Federal
Communications Commission has multiple reasons for thinking that net neutrality is unnecessary.
Paragraph one explains how net neutrality promotes innovation. The second paragraph explains how it
protects freedom. Paragraph three explains how the Federal Communications Commission says net
neutrality is unnecessary. Net neutrality promotes innovation and freedom, but the Federal
Communications Commission sees it as an unnecessary addition to an already stable internet. Many

The As A World Of Perfection And Reality
Art is a collection of artworks that reflects a message for the audience to interpret. Each piece of
artwork is expressed in different forms that communicate an individual s thoughts and emotions to
another person. Every artist has their own individual style which makes them different from the rest.
Although artists have similar styles, viewers have their own interpretation when they are analyzing a
piece of art in depth. Philosophers claim the uniqueness of art comes from all the creative ideas in one
s mind. Nietzsche believes the appearance of objects matters more than reality of objects but Dewey
would disagree. Friedrich Nietzsche introduces the art world of dreams and reality. These are two
different qualities that represents Apollonian and Dionysus art. According to Nietzsche, he describes
dreams as a world of perfection and reality as a world of imperfection. In the excerpt The Birth of
Tragedy, he writes, In our dreams we delight in the immediate understanding of figures; all forms
speak to us; there is nothing unimportant or superfluous (Nietzsche 163). By dreaming, it is possible
to fantasize about your desires positively. On the other hand, reality forces you to become aware of
your true thoughts and how you are currently living your life. The author clearly explains the reality in
which we live and have our being is also mere appearance, and that another, quite different reality lies
beneath it (Nietzsche 163). When we are either doing real life activities

Judith And Maidservant
In Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith and Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes Judith is depicted with

Army was to beseech Judith s town Bethulia. Judith is a jewish widow, who was invited to have

off, and save her people. This is the second image in a series of three Gentileschi produces, here she
has succeeded in her mission, and is attempting to get away.
In this work I have conflicting opinions about what is the focal point. The focal point is the area of the
work where the eyes are drawn, or where the eye tends to focus. I see two main focal points one being

intercourse within the context of love is heavily emphasized by Marvell in To His Coy Mistress ,
suggesting that the Carpe Diem poem presents love as solely physical is arguably hyperbolic. Marvell
s structural establishment of a perpetual hypothetical implicitly addresses the nature of romantic
asexual love and presents it as something fundamentally positive. This is structurally established in the
first verse through Marvell s diction choice of had we and continually utilized until the twentieth line.
A hypothetical context is essentially presented to the love interest addressed in the dramatic
monologue, where Marvell and his lover have enough World and Time and her sexual coyness ...

Ultimately, this is due to Marvell and the addressee lacking the time to pursue these endeavours. This
becomes clear to the reader in verse 21, where Marvell metaphorically alludes to the Olympian deity
Apollo, through the symbolic establishment of time s winged Charriot hurrying near . Within the
context of the poem, this metaphor ultimately introduces a sharp tonal shift between the hypothetical
nature of the poem and the realism of the current situation. The shift in tone is further enforced by
Marvell s employment of the motif of death in line 27, where the grotesque imagery of worms
essentially deflowering his lover in the grave establishes juxtaposing connotations to Marvell s
hypothetical promise to love his mistress until the end of time in verse 10. Furthermore, it reinforces
the critical lack of time Marvell and the addressee have together as the lover will inevitably die,
inherently providing an essential argument to the addressee to indulge in sexual intercourse with

Sex Linked Genes
In some traits that are inherited, gender plays no role. However, there are three ways that an inherited
gene can be related to sex, which is what makes them similar. First, sex linked traits are traits whose
loci are on the sex chromosomes, meaning that their transmission from generation to generation is
affected by the sex chromosome complement of the individual. Secondly, sex influenced traits are
autosomal. Their genes are not carried on the sex chromosomes. Finally, sex limited traits are
generally autosomal, meaning that they are not found on the X or Y chromosomes.
Sex linked genes is caused by the differences in sex chromosomes between males and females. They
are linked because more males (XY) develop these traits than females (XX). This is because the
females have two X genes, which means they are able to offset the recessive trait. The trait is more
likely to be visible in the male. Genes on the X chromosome are all linked to each other. This means
that they are x linked. Due to the fact that females have two X chromosomes and males have only one,
X linked recessive traits are found more in males than in females. An example of this is ... Show more

These traits are phenotypically expressed in a unique way. This is because they are autosomal,
meaning they are not on the x or y chromosome. If a male has one recessive allele, this means that he
will show that trait, but it will take two recessive for the female to show that trait. An example of this
type of gene is baldness. This gene has two alleles. The products of these genes are influenced by the
hormones in the individual, one including testosterone. High levels of testosterone cause the baldness
allele to have a very powerful influence, and vice versa. Testosterone is present in males and females,
but males have much higher levels of it. Due to this, the baldness allele in males behaves like a
dominant allele. In females, however, it acts like a recessive

Junior Miners Research Paper
During the 1955 56 Cape Breton Junior Hockey League (CBJHL) season, fans who can remember
remark that the Glace Bay Junior Miners went from the outhouse to the penthouse. In the process, the
team was fittingly dubbed the Cinderella Miners. The three team CBJHL consisted of the Junior
Miners, the Sydney Eastmount Millionaires and the Northside Franklins. Xavier Junior College of
Sydney had started the campaign but later folded.
For the longest time, the Glace Bay club couldn t win a game. Consequently, fan support at the Miners
Forum was slipping. Finally, in December, the Miners defeated the Franklins 7 1, but the team went
on another long losing streak. Finally, in mid January, to no one s surprise, the arena s board of
directors, which was the club s sponsor, ended it s association. ... Show more content on

On January 31, 1956, with less than two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Junior Miners at
long last won their second game. The regular season ended with the Millionaires in first place
followed by the Northside. Bringing up the rear was Glace Bay who, according to reports, managed
just two wins. All clubs, however, qualified for the postseason. More on the playoffs later.
A key performer for Glace Bay was Fred Courtney, originally from Donkin. In spite of playing for the
cellar dwelling Junior Miners, Courtney won the league scoring crown and did so in fine fashion.
Heading into the team s last regular season contest at the Miners Forum, he trailed leader Greg
MacIntosh of the Millionaires by five points. However, the flashy winger struck for a pair of goals and
added four assists in a 11 9 loss to the Franklins to overtake MacIntosh by a single point. Not
surprisingly, Courtney was voted the circuit s MVP.
A little while back I had the privilege of sitting with Courtney at his kitchen table in Glace Bay, and he
talked about the 1955 56 Junior

Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the
philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar versions
of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea of
dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for even
the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot achieve
that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I argue that if we
construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines as a relation connecting predicates rather than
properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea.
My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require the
development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some
misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson s original treatment of
supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson s brand of supervenience is equivalent to Kim s
weak supervenience, which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson s
conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim s and
clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism.
As I see it, the difference between Kim s approach and Davidson s lies in the items supervenience is
thought to connect. Kim s formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to be the
ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a metaphysical
thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson has little tolerance
for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property exemplifications. Given Davidson s
reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of supervenience as a relation between

Miami University Research Paper
Over the next few months, many high school seniors will be making one of the biggest decisions of
their lives. This is no different for myself, as I will be attending college within the next year. College
is the place that you can go to enhance your education in order to succeed in your career choice. The
two colleges that I am looking at are Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. When I
attend one of these two universities, I will be going into their pre medical program while majoring in
another area that I am interested in. Both of these colleges are essentially the same in terms of
acceptance rates into medical school and majors. My main concern is with how my daily life will go at
these places. Along with the daily life of college I am also looking at the campus in general and all of
the activities that I can do. Both of the colleges are very good, however I would have to choose Miami
University over the University of Cincinnati because it fits me better overall. With the many choices
that go with college, one of the most important decisions is what you want to do. For me, I have
decided to go into the medical field. Miami University and the University of Cincinnati both have very
good pre med programs. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

study of how the body moves and nutrition is the study of the human metabolism and how it relates to
nutrition. I believe that both of these will help me with my career however, kinesiology more directly
relates to orthopedics than nutrition does. Kinesiology at Miami offers state of the art facilities and
nutrition has a very high passing rate ( Majors by

Gregory The Great Accomplishments
For over a period of seven hundred plus years, from Gregory the Great s papacy to Boniface VIII s
papacy, the world experienced many influential popes, whose accomplishments changed the course of
history. Many of these popes become known for both their positive accomplishments, which brought
prosperity to their people, and for their failures, which in many cases led to their own death.
Throughout the given time period, Pope Nicholas II, Pope Gregory VII, Pope Innocent III, and Pope
Gregory IX, were all influential popes whose accomplishments are what they are most remembered
for.
First, Pope Nicholas II decreed that the College of Cardinals would obtain authority to choose the
pope. The College of Cardinals was made up of a group of Roman Church officials who were in
charge of electing the pope, which was put in place to prevent kings from selecting popes. The
declaration made by Nicholas II for the continuation of the College of Cardinals led to the declaring of
independence from political structure. This meant that the Roman Church officials did not have to
seek the approval of the King before electing a new pope, while preventing kings from electing
puppets, to do the bidding of the King. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gregory VII was attempting to test the Church s independence by excommunicating those who
participated in lay investiture. At Canossa in 1077, Gregory reigned supreme after Henry was
excommunicated for defying the papacy. Gregory also attacked the corrupt practice of simony, the
buying and selling of church offices, which was in direct confrontation with the College of Cardinals,
a council that he helped to establish. Overall, Gregory s accomplishments include the affirming the
papal primacy and the attempt to destroy the practice of

Dr. Ben Carson s Life
Ronald Dolan
9/22/15
Dr. Mera Ford
Dr. Ben Carson The sound of tearing cloth and a twisted metal sound resonates in his head. The knife
had bit into his friend when he lashed out toward his friend over the use of a simple radio. He felt as
light as a feather as he ran home from the scene of the crime. Inside his closet he clutches a bible.
After wiping his tears away the young child looks down to the bible, opens it, and reads Better a
patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city Proverbs 16:32
(CEB). (Ben Carson Bio.com) His anger and fear subsides from his fit of rage where he tried to stab
his friend. Benjamin Solomon Carson at this time was a young frustrate boy who needed help and
found it through the bible. He was lucky that the knife had hit his friend s belt buckle just right so that
the boy was unharmed. This experience, which he considers a miracle, turned a young unruly boy onto
a completely different path of life. Dr. Ben Carson has become someone of great stature and an icon to
all people struggling in the United States. He is a true example of how someone can come from a life
of poverty and hate to a life of love. Dr. Carson had his defining moment at a very young age. Along
with moment was an extremely supportive mother and brother. Carson started off that school year
with terrible grades and had little help to change those grades. It was up to him to pull them up, which
he did. He graduated with honors from his high

Homeless youth pursuing higher education, are amongst the students facing the greatest obstacles. It
has been estimated that 32,000 homeless youth do not attend college due to their lack of academic
foundation and inability to attain accessible resources and or information to make college a viable
option (Leibson 138 141). A study done by Hannah Leibson, a writer for Child Law Practice, went to
explore what kind of research had already been previously done in terms of college enrollment and
completion, what challenges were identified that potentially hinder the ability of homeless youth to
pursue college, and programs pre established that impede on the youth s accessibility to financial aid

Demographics And Its Impact On Health And Health
In my research, I discovered that population trends will dramatically impact healthcare. Simply put the
more people who exists the more healthcare that is required. Population is not the only factor and
other sub factors of population such as age, race, and ethnicity or demographics and they also have an
impact on Healthcare. For example, the population of people in the U.S. over the age of 65 in 1950
was only 8.1% of the total population. The trend of that number is expected to rise to 20.2% by 2050.
Geographic trends can assist healthcare professionals where to focus their educational efforts in terms
of healthcare availability. Psychographics examines the consumer or the factors that motive them such
as values, attitudes, beliefs, motions, interests, and personalities.
Demographic trends can be used to target specific gender and ethnic groups from a healthcare
perspective. An example of this targeted healthcare is research showed that males, both non Hispanic
and Hispanic, in the Michigan area where disproportionately affected by cancer (Kodjebacheva,
Blankenship, Hayman Jr, Parker, 2016). The application of this is by knowing this data and data
similar to it, we will be able to have focused HealthCare to the demographics that statistically need it
more than others.
The study of Geographic trends will allow us to better understand physically where healthcare
resources are lacking compared to other typically developed areas. An example of application here is a

brothers Tom Monaghan and James Monaghan. Monaghan brothers purchase DomiNick s pizza store

Other than that, Domino s Pizza can also get to know the opinion of the society on their product,

As mentioned earlier, through Facebook the feedbacks can be received easily, but if it is a negative

  • 2. Getting Away And Going Camping With The Family Getting away and going camping with the family can be a very rewarding time, not to mention a ton of fun. But if you have a toddler that you must take with you, it will present a set of unique problems. You will need to keep your toddler occupied, safe, and entertained. Here s how. 1. Don t try and travel too far at one time with a toddler in the car. Three hours of traveling is about the limit for a toddler. You will then need to stop and get out of the car. Give the toddler some time to move around a bit and get some fresh air. The exercise will do him good and he may get tired out enough that he may sleep during the next leg of the trip. Be sure to bring some snack foods with you to give him something to munch on. 2. Also consider where your toddler will sleep. Is he used to sleeping on something other than a bed? If he is, then you don t have anything to worry about. But if he isn t, then you may need to do some thinking concerning sleeping arrangements. 3. Be careful where you camp. I don t think you want to be too close to a lake or pond. Your toddler could wander in that direction very quickly without you noticing. In fact, you need to keep an eye on him constantly. There are many hazards in a camping environment that could injure him. 4. Be sure to make the trip fun for the toddler. Try and arrange things that will be fun for him to do. The lake or pond can be fun; he just can t do that by himself. As long as you accompany him and keep a tight grip on his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sisyphus Deception Albert Camus, a French philosopher who tries to decipher a meaningful world through the trails and tribulation of life. His piece, The Myth of Sisyphus can be interpreted that the essay represents man s struggle to belong, an endless journey to achieve, and a glimpse of his own fate. Sisyphus is the absurd hero. He is, as much through his passions as through his torture . (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus) There is scarcely any person without struggle. (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus) Sisyphus is a devious mortal creature who is willing to betray his fellow man. Having minimal respect for his gods, Sisyphus has a willingness to deceive in order to receive what he wants. Sisyphus has a profession as a highwayman, where he lays his own path in life, often finding hardship and wanting to have what others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as Sisyphus deceived his own wife, man deceives man. Somehow, man can look past his deception and justify it with the thought process that their deception has not hurt anyone. There is a multitude of scenarios in which I find myself like Sisyphus but it is the one man who changes those patterns. It is the one man who finds himself, moving away from the norm and what society portrays as truth. When that man emerges, it is difficult but courageous. It is a meaningful transformation that will assist in helping others find who they were meant to be. There is no fate that can not be surmounted by scorn. (Camus, The Myth Of Sisyphus) Having a glimpse of your own fate is for those who choose to continue the struggle of the uphill climb and the repetitive fall, and untrustworthy happiness. They will always be tormented as Sisyphus was, because they will always be searching for something they can t find. The lack of fulfillment will devastate them spiritually, emotionally and mentally. • 4. Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The first difference between the two religions is their services. Roman Catholic services are held in sanctuaries that are richly decorated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the practice of praying to Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out and ordered, with much less participation by the church members during the service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the partaking of Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the members are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each service and is always presided over by the priest. The members believe that they are consuming the actual body and blood of Christ during Communion, and are required to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect. Communion is believed to be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required to obtain salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually reserved for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may partake every few months or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally presides over Communion, any member designated by the church can do so. Baptist religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to Communion, and believe it to be a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body and blood of Christ are consumed during Communion. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Strategic Bombing Of The Ussr Essay Even before the end of the Second World War, the USSR was a very secretive and closed society. US intelligence had little to no information about Soviet military strength and did not even have accurate maps of the USSR. The best aerial photographs available to western planners were from the Luftwaffe and had been captured by the allies at the end of WWII. Outside of these captured photos, virtually no maps or aerial photography existed of the USSR, especially those areas in the Urals, Siberia and the Far East. As victory in WWII appeared imminent, the USAAF under General Hap Arnold commissioned studies to assess the impact of strategic bombing in the war. In addition to results about strategic bombing, the U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey (USSBS) concluded that the U.S. should have an intelligence organization capable of knowing the strategic vulnerabilities, capabilities and intentions of any potential enemy. In spite of the aforementioned dearth of intelligence on the USSR, very specific information was needed for military and political leaders to make decisions regarding their strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities. Additionally, the strategic bomber forces needed a list of verified targets in case conflict with the USSR broke out. In order to fill the major voids in information the US civilian leaders employed a bifurcated approach: human intelligence (HUMINT) obtained through agency operatives, and signals (SIGINT) and imagery (IMINT) intelligence acquired ... Nationwide Children s Mechanisms Of Human Health And Disease Shankar Pattabhiraman Sneha Sharma Nationwide Children s Mechanisms of Human Health and Disease 16 July 2015 Ischemic Stroke: An Overview Section One: Introduction My name is Shankar Pattabhiraman, and I am an incoming senior at New Albany High School. I will be graduating in June of 2016, and I am thinking of pursuing a chemical or biomedical engineering major in college, or possibly biochemistry or neuroscience. My career goal is to become a physician, or perhaps a physician scientist. I am especially interested in neurology related fields, and this interest has been reinforced in several ways: participating in the 2015 National Brain Bee Championships competition in Baltimore, MD, volunteering at Riverside Methodist Hospital in the Neurocritical Care Unit and the Stroke and Brain Center, and helping Tony Hall and his friends who suffer from neurological disorders and diseases. I chose to study ischemic strokes because I am interested in neuropathology, both clinically and through research. In addition, through my volunteering at RMH, I have worked with patients who have suffered from strokes, and while the symptoms onset is sudden, the events leading up to the stroke are long term but rarely treatable. Section Two: Background Ischemic stroke is the blockage of blood vessels in the brain as a result of blood clots (thrombi), causing the portions of the brain nourished by the vessel and its tributaries to be starved of nutrients, poisoned, and to eventually die ( Symptoms ... Summary and Integration of Major Concepts Founded by Frederick (Fritz) and Laura Perls in the 1940 s, Gestalt therapy is a phenomenological existential methodology which emphasizes experience and experimentation. Just like client centered therapy, I had again been in a group that was assigned to Dr. Fiebert and I felt fortunate to have him demonstrate because I knew that I would learn a great deal given his years of experience. I had learned through the reading and class lecture that this was a therapy that called for the therapist to be creative in getting the client to express emotions and feelings. I was anxious to see what creative techniques Dr. Fiebert would employ. He began the session by asking me what I was aware of and I told him that I was feeling some tension in my neck and shoulders. Most teens have parents that will push them to get a job as soon as they turn sixteen. Most non fast food jobs only hire eighteen year olds. This causes a lot of stress for the teen, juggling a job and school at the same time. Some teens are also in advanced classes, or in extracurricular activities. The Caribbean remains fragmented both economically and politically as a result of competition and conflict among the European powers. Fragmentation is in part the product of a long history as separate colonies of a metropolitan power or powers. It is also in part the psychological effects on people of separation by sea. The case for regional integration is both simple and irrefutable. First we are small and we need to achieve economies of scale. How Did Edgar Degas s Use Of Visual Impairments A comparative analysis of two works by 20th and 21st century artists, Edgar Degas and John Bramblitt, where a discussion of their lives, their techniques and of course their works comes into focus. One of the main comparisons between these two artists is how visual impairments in both their cases affected their works. Whilst Degas s works became more hurried and quick although not losing his precision, Bramblitt s work still remained patient and calculated. Dancers ca. 1900 by Degas is a study drawing of what was later to be Dancers VI. It portrays three women dancing, although one seems to be centrally placed and in focus with two other women behind her dancing. This portrait of dancing women, is a draft done in pastels, with the expert mixing of various other materials such as gouache, tempera. Over the years, researchers have developed multiple theories of the boundaries of childhood amnesia for adults, adolescents, and as well for children by using different methodology of measurement (Usher Neisser, 1993; Eacott Crawley, 1998; Macdonald et al., 2000; Peterson et al., 2000; Tusin and Hayne 2010; Wang Peterson, 2014 2016). Childhood amnesia occurs when adults are unable to recall memories from their childhood. Although, this definition is still up for debate on whether or not childhood amnesia only occurs for adults, a specific gender, specific cross cultural difference, or if the boundaries fluctuate over development (Macdonald et al., 2000; Peterson et al., 2000; Wang Peterson, 2014). While there are still many variables researcher s must consider when studying childhood amnesia, there is a common theme that arises throughout the research. Researchers are intrigued in the boundaries of childhood amnesia and how using different methods provides different might alter the perspectives and outcomes for how long childhood amnesia lasts after birth (Usher Neisser, 1993; Eacott Crawley, 1998; Macdonald et al., 2000; Peterson et al., 2000; Tusin and Hayne 2010; Wang Peterson, 2014 2016). • 19. Themes InThe Rememberer And Jealous Husband Return In Form... Many stories have similar themes, The Rememberer by Aimee Bender and Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot by Robert Olen Butler are two short stories that do. In The Rememberer, Ben is going through reverse evolution and Annie and Ben both do not know why. It is implied that Ben remembers Annie, but not completely specified. In Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot, the husband falls out of a tree trying to catch his wife in the act of cheating and gets reincarnated into a parrot. He remembers her, but she does not know it is him and ends up choosing and purchasing him from the pet store, putting him back into his own home. Both stories have ironic tendencies and share a similar theme, but have different meanings. Throughout both stories, the characters are facing internal conflicts. In The Rememberer, Annie is dealing with Ben going through reverse evolution. She does not know why he is going through it or what to do about it, which results in her battling herself in her own mind. She cannot tell anyone what is going on because nobody would believe her, she is stuck telling people that he has a strange sickness and is forced to keep it all inside. In Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot, the husband is dealing with the internal conflict of being purchased by his wife and brought back into his home where now he is stuck seeing his wife with other men. The conflict comes in to play with the husband because he does not have the vocabulary as a parrot to tell her that it is him. Throughout the two stories, the men are both, somehow, turned into animals. They both may have turned into animals, in one way or another, but those ways are different. In The Rememberer, Ben first turns into an ape, but then turns into a sea turtle, just to turn into a salamander. Whereas, in Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot, the only animal he is turned into is a parrot. Another difference between the two circumstances is, Ben is going through reverse evolution, so he is turning into many different animals, and the husband went through reincarnation after he fell out of the tree, so he will not change forms. • 21. Home From Nowhere By James Kunstler James Kunstler in his book Home from Nowhere, slams American urban design and goes into detail about its horrifying attributes. He calls the United States a theme park nation that needs superficial stimulation to hide unhappiness. These conditions exist, in part, due to our association of the city with the dirty industrial revolution rather than the more natural green environment that people prefer. He calls the public realm the connective tissue of our everyday world. It is parks, streets, squares, sidewalks, vistas and views and defined open space and seascapes, rural working landscapes and wilderness and porticos and entrances to the more often private spaces of buildings. Kohn writes about how this affects our civil discourse, people congregating in suburban shopping malls creates an odd qusi public / private space leading to questions of free speech. This privatization of the public realm would not occur in traditional society where people congregate at neighborhood parks or downtown plazas and public sidewalks. Perhaps some of the most intolerable consequences of poor urban design are discussed by Powell who writes that sprawl and the fragmentation of people along social and racial lines creates inequality. This is because historically only the middle and upper class were mobile enough to sprawl as discriminatory housing practices disenfranchised minorities and redlined their communities. The problem intensifies as concentrated poverty creates an environment void of opportunities and as Kunstler has stated our auto dependent society disadvantages the poor who lack mobility. Davis highlights these issues of the public realm, inequality, and concentrated poverty while writing about Los Angeles. A city where the wealthy cower behind guarded walls and downtown is filled with skyscrapers that turn inward away from the public. Davis also points out that this type of destruction of the public realm is subsidized by LA s taxpayers who shelled out two billion dollars to lure banks and professional ... Modernism affected the ideas and practices of artists, increasing the attitude of the Avant Garde to be original. He aimed to distil the core essence of each artwork through visual vocabulary; using non genre based subject matter such as distorted shapes, squiggles and motifs. For example, in his painting Composition IV, 1911, Kandinsky has partially disguised symbols of subject matter from the outside world, such as boats, reclining figures, and a castle on a hilltop, beneath vibrant blocks of colour and harsh black lines. The notion of battle is conveyed in the chaos of the composition particularly in the way Kandinsky has juxtaposed the clashing vibrant high key colours, with the calm of the flowing forms. This alludes to the peace and redemption to follow. Kandinsky s formalistic approach to the biomorphic painting with a specific focus on colour, shape and arrangement was challenging to the deeply ingrained notion that subject matter was required to tell a narrative and realistically represent society. Kandinsky was criticised for devaluing art in the Modernist era and promoting the notion of art for art s sake due to the abstract nature of his work. However he argued that such artwork could create a corresponding thrill or contrast of emotion in the audience. He said Such works of art at least preserve the soul from coarseness; they key it up...as tuning key the strings of a musical instrument. He aimed to reveal the inner life ... Both topics generated discussion that was centered around the contributions that were made within Children s Literature and how they could deepen young reader s understanding of the content presented to them in children books. I believe the book The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss would ve been a great addition to the class reading list. In this book, Dr. Seuss discussed topics such as discrimination, prejudice, acceptance, and tolerance which are all topics people wouldn t think are suitable for a children s book. The themes were used as underlying messages throughout the story and the illustration presented a visual to readers, so that they could have a clear understanding of what Dr. Seuss was writing. The importance of the message was to bring awareness to the issues that are present within society. Other stories include The Zax , Too Many Daves , and What Was I Scared Of? . These stories all contribute to reaching out to help young readers analyze and further understand others who may not always be the same as them. This means there will be a downgrade to the earlier projected growth rate, though there still will be a growth rate, albeit at a lower pace than was hitherto foreseen. Since corn is produced so cheaply using synthetic nitrogen which creates a dependency on our fossil fuel resources rather than our solar resource. The Feedlot method has produced more issues than solutions. Yes, it does result in fattening cattle quicker which in term then produces faster meat but it results in manure that is extremely high in concentration of phosphorous and nitrogen that cannot be used as fertilizer to regenerate nutrients in the soil. If the soil cannot be regenerated cattle must be moved which leads to medical problems, which were attempted to be solved using antibiotics but only increased antibiotic resistant bacteria. • 39. The As A World Of Perfection And Reality Art is a collection of artworks that reflects a message for the audience to interpret. Each piece of artwork is expressed in different forms that communicate an individual s thoughts and emotions to another person. Every artist has their own individual style which makes them different from the rest. Although artists have similar styles, viewers have their own interpretation when they are analyzing a piece of art in depth. Philosophers claim the uniqueness of art comes from all the creative ideas in one s mind. Nietzsche believes the appearance of objects matters more than reality of objects but Dewey would disagree. Friedrich Nietzsche introduces the art world of dreams and reality. These are two different qualities that represents Apollonian and Dionysus art. According to Nietzsche, he describes dreams as a world of perfection and reality as a world of imperfection. In the excerpt The Birth of Tragedy, he writes, In our dreams we delight in the immediate understanding of figures; all forms speak to us; there is nothing unimportant or superfluous (Nietzsche 163). By dreaming, it is possible to fantasize about your desires positively. On the other hand, reality forces you to become aware of your true thoughts and how you are currently living your life. The author clearly explains the reality in which we live and have our being is also mere appearance, and that another, quite different reality lies beneath it (Nietzsche 163). • 40. Judith And Maidservant In Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith and Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes Judith is depicted with her maidservant after the head of Assyrian general Holofernes has been chopped off. The Assyrian Army was to beseech Judith s town Bethulia. Judith is a jewish widow, who was invited to have dinner with Holofernes. After a night of drinking she attempts to seduce him in order to chop his head off, and save her people. This is the second image in a series of three Gentileschi produces, here she has succeeded in her mission, and is attempting to get away. In this work I have conflicting opinions about what is the focal point. The focal point is the area of the work where the eyes are drawn, or where the eye tends to focus. I see two main focal points one being Holofernes s head at the bottom of the work where all the light is filtered. Also I see Judith s gesture also being the focal point. She is ... The way the Maidservant is holding his head and the presence of the sward tells you a violent act had accred. The maidservant is also a secondary focal point she seems to be hastily, and quietly wrapping up the generals head before the two are caught. While also watching Judith to see if they are in danger. The technique tenebrism created by Artemisia is a form of chiaroscuro where balance between light and shade are used to emphasize certain parts of the artwork. Tenebrism witch means murky (Pg105) is large areas of dark contrasting sharply with smaller brightly illuminated area (Pg 105). • 41. To His Coy Mistress By Marvell Examine the view that Marvell presents love as entirely physical Although the role of sexual intercourse within the context of love is heavily emphasized by Marvell in To His Coy Mistress , suggesting that the Carpe Diem poem presents love as solely physical is arguably hyperbolic. Marvell s structural establishment of a perpetual hypothetical implicitly addresses the nature of romantic asexual love and presents it as something fundamentally positive. This is structurally established in the first verse through Marvell s diction choice of had we and continually utilized until the twentieth line. A hypothetical context is essentially presented to the love interest addressed in the dramatic monologue, where Marvell and his lover have enough World and Time and her sexual coyness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, this is due to Marvell and the addressee lacking the time to pursue these endeavours. This becomes clear to the reader in verse 21, where Marvell metaphorically alludes to the Olympian deity Apollo, through the symbolic establishment of time s winged Charriot hurrying near . Within the context of the poem, this metaphor ultimately introduces a sharp tonal shift between the hypothetical nature of the poem and the realism of the current situation. The shift in tone is further enforced by Marvell s employment of the motif of death in line 27, where the grotesque imagery of worms essentially deflowering his lover in the grave establishes juxtaposing connotations to Marvell s hypothetical promise to love his mistress until the end of time in verse 10. Furthermore, it reinforces the critical lack of time Marvell and the addressee have together as the lover will inevitably die, inherently providing an essential argument to the addressee to indulge in sexual intercourse with ... • 42. Sex Linked Genes In some traits that are inherited, gender plays no role. However, there are three ways that an inherited gene can be related to sex, which is what makes them similar. First, sex linked traits are traits whose loci are on the sex chromosomes, meaning that their transmission from generation to generation is affected by the sex chromosome complement of the individual. Secondly, sex influenced traits are autosomal. Their genes are not carried on the sex chromosomes. Finally, sex limited traits are generally autosomal, meaning that they are not found on the X or Y chromosomes. Sex linked genes is caused by the differences in sex chromosomes between males and females. They are linked because more males (XY) develop these traits than females (XX). This is because the females have two X genes, which means they are able to offset the recessive trait. The trait is more likely to be visible in the male. Genes on the X chromosome are all linked to each other. This means that they are x linked. Due to the fact that females have two X chromosomes and males have only one, X linked recessive traits are found more in males than in females. An example of this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These traits are phenotypically expressed in a unique way. This is because they are autosomal, meaning they are not on the x or y chromosome. If a male has one recessive allele, this means that he will show that trait, but it will take two recessive for the female to show that trait. An example of this type of gene is baldness. This gene has two alleles. The products of these genes are influenced by the hormones in the individual, one including testosterone. High levels of testosterone cause the baldness allele to have a very powerful influence, and vice versa. Testosterone is present in males and females, but males have much higher levels of it. Due to this, the baldness allele in males behaves like a dominant allele. In females, however, it acts like a recessive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All clubs, however, qualified for the postseason. More on the playoffs later. A key performer for Glace Bay was Fred Courtney, originally from Donkin. In spite of playing for the cellar dwelling Junior Miners, Courtney won the league scoring crown and did so in fine fashion. Heading into the team s last regular season contest at the Miners Forum, he trailed leader Greg MacIntosh of the Millionaires by five points. However, the flashy winger struck for a pair of goals and added four assists in a 11 9 loss to the Franklins to overtake MacIntosh by a single point. • 44. Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar versions of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea of dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for even the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot achieve that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I argue that if we construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines as a relation connecting predicates rather than properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea. My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require the development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson s original treatment of supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson s brand of supervenience is equivalent to Kim s weak supervenience, which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson s conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim s and clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism. As I see it, the difference between Kim s approach and Davidson s lies in the items supervenience is thought to connect. Kim s formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to be the ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a metaphysical thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson has little tolerance for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property exemplifications. Given Davidson s reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of supervenience as a relation between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gregory The Great Accomplishments For over a period of seven hundred plus years, from Gregory the Great s papacy to Boniface VIII s papacy, the world experienced many influential popes, whose accomplishments changed the course of history. Many of these popes become known for both their positive accomplishments, which brought prosperity to their people, and for their failures, which in many cases led to their own death. Throughout the given time period, Pope Nicholas II, Pope Gregory VII, Pope Innocent III, and Pope Gregory IX, were all influential popes whose accomplishments are what they are most remembered for. First, Pope Nicholas II decreed that the College of Cardinals would obtain authority to choose the pope. The College of Cardinals was made up of a group of Roman Church officials who were in charge of electing the pope, which was put in place to prevent kings from selecting popes. The declaration made by Nicholas II for the continuation of the College of Cardinals led to the declaring of independence from political structure. • 50. Demographics And Its Impact On Health And Health In my research, I discovered that population trends will dramatically impact healthcare. Simply put the more people who exists the more healthcare that is required. Population is not the only factor and other sub factors of population such as age, race, and ethnicity or demographics and they also have an impact on Healthcare. For example, the population of people in the U.S. over the age of 65 in 1950 was only 8.1% of the total population. The trend of that number is expected to rise to 20.2% by 2050. Geographic trends can assist healthcare professionals where to focus their educational efforts in terms of healthcare availability. Psychographics examines the consumer or the factors that motive them such as values, attitudes, beliefs, motions, interests, and personalities. Demographic trends can be used to target specific gender and ethnic groups from a healthcare perspective. An example of this targeted healthcare is research showed that males, both non Hispanic and Hispanic, in the Michigan area where disproportionately affected by cancer (Kodjebacheva, Blankenship, Hayman Jr, Parker, 2016). The application of this is by knowing this data and data similar to it, we will be able to have focused HealthCare to the demographics that statistically need it more than others.
