Virtual Reality Edwards
As we continue to progress further into technological advances, we begin to become more
interactive with our technology. As this Is becoming the norm, for media to be more interactive,
new regulations come into question. This is particularly true for virtual reality games. Kate
Edwards wrote a response to whether virtual realityvideo games should be more regulated than
conventional video games for Congressional Quarterly Researcher in the February 26, 2016,
issue. The analysis of virtual reality was written by Thomas J. Billitteri. Edward s experience on
the issue comes from being the executive director of the International Game Developers
Association. Edwards claims, Every new media has experienced a level of caution and critical
examination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edwards fails to provide any sort of numerical examples or specifics to support her position. She
simply states her point and moves on, only providing vague support to enhance her argument. To
improve her arguments, it would be beneficial to see timeline examples from how long it took
other of media like radio and television to become mainstream after their introduction. Also , to
increase the strength of her argument, the inclusion of a professional opinion from a developer
(HTC, Sony, Etc.) on how video games don t differ from virtual reality enough to constitute further
regulations. Edwards focuses most her article comparing the introduction of virtual reality to other
media types and their history. By focusing her argument on comparing media types, it seems she
hopes to convince the reader that it is alike any other technology and doesn t differ, thus not
needing further regulation. In doing this, she doesn t leave room for supporting details and specific
examples, leaving her with a rather weak argument . She also includes a paragraph on the liabilities
of new ideas, that seems to distract from her argument. She concludes her argument saying that
virtual reality is protected alike video games under the first amendment of free speech. Again, she is
straying from the point of her argument and filling with unsupported arguments . This is an
irreverent argument because while they are

No One In Government Pays The Slightest Attention To The
No one in government pays the slightest attention to the root of the undocumented immigrants

you were walking home at night. A pickpocket, suddenly, jumps on your front with a gun pointed

influence and dominance in their native country in order to sustain stability and security for the
operation of the U.S. corporate entities who ravaged the nation s resources and wealth, subjugated
its working class and suppressed its people through a dictatorial government under American
protection. For example consider the power and influence of the American Fruit Company in
Central and South America established and operated for decades at the cost of tens of thousands
lives of innocent citizens whose only crime was to have control over their own land and national
resources. The history is well illustrative of the American direct or indirect and often bloody
suppression in countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama,
Colombia, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia,
Iran and Iraq. In some of these countries the U.S. military operation had amounted to the level of
genocide such as Vietnam where 2 to 4 million human lives were destroyed including total
population of many villages; Indonesia, where by the help of the U.S. government the socialist
government of Sukarno was overthrown and replaced by that of Suharto who slaughtered about

Explore American Art History
How to explore the history of American through the art?
Films and books break the limit of time to be the common way to explore the history of
American for people. Indeed, visiting the famous museum and watching popular historical operas
also are two of the most effective approaches to explore the development of America. Famous
museums generally preserve a large amounts of artworks which are historical and precious to
remind people. In my opinion, Boston s MFA is a good choice to explore the history of America
because it is located in the center of American revolution and it is considered to be the most decisive
change. Thus, people are able to realize what is American about American history through the art.

According to the American history, American artists had evolved their own American style to paint
portraits and landscape, and almost had separated from English traditions in the late 18th century.
This century for America undoubtedly is the transition from colonial country to power after went
through many vital incidents such as American civil war, American Reconstruction, Abolition
movement, and Industrial Revolution . Dating back to the late 18th century, America had improved
their system to be relatively wealthy and to be a stable country. In addition, artistic representation
that portray religious, racial, gender, political, class and other perspectives continue to serve as
unique historical documents to help people better understand as well as see the world through the
artist s eyes. ( Edell Fiedler) Hence, the formation of unique American art style cannot without other
country s inspirations of art after went through many artistic struggle. That s the reason why that

Our Time Essay
Alex Leen
9/5/12
English 110, 11:00
Final Draft of paper 1 In the essay Our Time by John Edgar Wideman he often takes a break from
the narrative to address that he has many problems as a writer. He does this to try to consciously
address these problems and hopefully solve these problems. He believes that if these problems are
not rectified he would destroy any chance he has at telling a truthful account of his brother s story.
To rectify these problems he employs a variety of unique techniques in his writing. Looking at these
techniques it is not always 100% clear how these are fixing his problems. It is also evident that the
way he is writing may be going against a lot of things we were taught in school about our writing.

The first of the three is Garth s death. When Garth died he lost his best friend, one of the few
people that he truly loved. After Garth died Robby got big into drugs, I think its cause he was
depressed after the loss and wanted to forget. It was a major turning point in Robby s life and in
my opinion the most important of the three events that could have started the story. The second
one is his own birth. People may wonder why this wouldn t be the logical starting point seeing as
how it s his birth and makes sense chronologically. The reason this can be seen as starting point
of his troubles isn t because he was born so it could happen as you d probably think. It s because
for as long as he could remember his birthday was overshadowed. It was right after Christmas so
it always felt a little insignificant compared to the biggest holiday of the year. There were also the
unfortunate events of death that seemed to follow his birthday around like a cloud. All of his
Grandparents died near his birthday and that has to take a toll on you. To have your birthday
associated with the deaths of loved ones must be extremely hard. The third and final possible
starting point is his childhood home in Shadyside. Nothing particularly traumatizing happened in
this passage but it s still important none the less. In this he talks about how he grew up in a
predominantly white neighborhood. He was around white people all the time and felt that they had
it easier than him. Also

The Importance Of Toxic Leadership
The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the
Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and
keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of
the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadershipis a
serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is
toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to
continue?
Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes,
motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and
mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but
when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not
every soldier is born to lead. Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just
unable to inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a
follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot
step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. With education and training NCOs with
poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders.
Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an

An Analysis Of Haraway s Manifesto Manifesto Essay
In a world invested in (overly) determined biological authenticity, its margins will be populated by
the identified and self identifying cyborgs. This is not a coincidence. Haraway s Manifesto strongly
suggests that in such a mixed subjugated population emergent opportunities for political alliances
based on affinities thrives. She reminds us that cyborgs do not/cannot respect traditional boundaries
and are therefore driven by survival (294) imperatives to reach across, to break through, to shatter
windows and ceilings, to ultimately be fluid and flow between hardened boundaries and between
worlds of status quo. In other words, to not only create patchwork identities but to construct
political understandings and positions through patchwork or coalition politics. For alliances to
work there must first be alignments. Haraway locates these through Sandoval (2000) who in
Methodology for The Oppressed, notes a connectivity between the mestiza consciousness that
emerges from the Anzalduan borderlands where feminists of color keep intact shifting and multiple
identities with integrity and love and the commitment to partiality, irony, intimacy and perversity of
cyborgs (168) . It becomes salient to highlight how these shifting and multiple identities are survival
mechanisms activated in response to being othered by dominant politics and those who espouse
them. Both feminists of color and cyborgs have utilized these mechanisms by recreating themselves
in response,

Workmen s Auto Insurance Company V. Guy Carpenter, Inc.
Are Insurance Brokers Agents Fiduciaries?
Insurers, insureds, and even their attorneys frequently incorrectly assume that insurance agents and
brokers owe fiduciary duties to their insureds. While the law is not completely clear regarding the
applicability of agency principles and their fiduciary duties in this area, legal precedent can offer
some guidance on the issue. Currently, there is no appellate precedent permitting an insured to sue
its agent or broker under a common law action for breach of fiduciary duty. However, the
California courts have yet to be willing to rule that the cause of action based on common law
agency principles is completely inapplicable to brokers and agents.
Demonstrative of the Court s unwillingness to create a bright line rule is the heavily litigated case
of Workmen s Auto InsuranceCompany v. Guy Carpenter Co., Inc. In 2011, the Court of Appeal
in Workmen s answered the question regarding fiduciary duties of brokers and agents definitively
in the negative, ruling that an insurance broker cannot be sued for breach of fiduciary duty. The
ruling finally provided the guidance and rule necessary to put the issue to rest. However, the relief
was short lived when in 2012, after a rehearing that affirmed the Court s ruling, the opinion was
vacated and depublished, again leaving the law in this area without ... Show more content on

Mexico had been in political turmoil for several years after their independence from Spain in

Maximilian had agreed to be emperor but was in need for more troops for his protection.
Liberals by this time held on to power in northwestern Mexico and parts of the Pacific Coast.
The Mexican Minister, Matias Romero, built strong allies with Americans to support Mexico.
The American Civil War ended in 1865 which was caused by Juarez s success against

Pixar and Disney: A Study of Creativity and Culture In 2005 the managers of Pixar Animation
Studios were facing a crisis. The company s ten year partnership with Disney was about to end
and the company had three options: draft a new agreement with Disney, find a new partner, or set
up their own marketing and distribution network.[1] Renewing the partnership with Disney
seemed, to many, like an obvious choice. The arrangement had been a boon to the fledgling studio
when it was first starting out. Disney had provided most of the funding[2] and had given Pixar s

At the cost of $1,488,422, the movie had represented yet another first for the innovative studio
that had already introduced the world to Steamboat Willie, often credited as the first animated
cartoon to feature synchronized sound in 1928[16] (According to film historians Max Fleischer
had produced Old Kentucky Home, which also had sound, in 1926), and Flowers and Trees, the
first full color cartoon, in 1931. Flowers and Trees was also the first cartoon to win an animation
Oscar.[17] Snow White, which had both color and sound, made use of other innovations as well.
The multiplane camera, developed by the studio, allowed Disney animators to create layered
scenes with pictures of objects in the foreground and background suspended on sheets of glass at
different layers of a fourteen foot platform to create the illusion of a three dimensional world.[18]
Further innovations followed. Fantasia, launched in 1941, was the first animated film to feature
stereophonic sound. (The movie s success was limited, however, by a combination of factors. One
practical hurdle was that theaters had to install new sound systems to show it and the onset of
World War II made theater owners hesitant to make the investment.)[19] In years that followed,
Disney would expand beyond animated features into live action film and television and into the

Positive Messages On Business Communication
Positive Messages in Business Communication
Introduction
Business communication requires avenues through which leaders, management, and workers
communicate. It also requires the communication process between an organization and its partners,
as well as the customers. In business communication, it is vital for an organization to develop a
communication channel that is not only efficient and effective, but one that relays positive
messages. Positive messages are crucial in developing good relationships with the employees,
business partners, and customers. Research shows that we actually comprehend a positive
statement 30 to 40 percent faster than we do a negative statement, our mind literally has to
unscramble negative messages to determine the meaning (Simoneaux Stroud, 2014). There is a
power in using positive messages, a strategy in building relationships and producing positive
results. When using positive messaging it is beneficial to use the 5 S s, and goodwill messaging.
The 5 S s are; selfless, specific, sincere, spontaneous, and short. This paper looks into the effects of
positive messaging, with an emphasis on goodwill messages, and the 5 S s.
Goodwill Messages In business, companies normally experience internal and external pressures
that may keep them from making various goals. For instance, a company may fail to repay its
loans on time, or fail to pay its workers as required. It is also common for companies to make late

Blackfoot Tribe Essay
BLACKFOOT TRIBE
The Blackfoot People are one of the many Native American Indian tribes that roamed America in
the early 1700s. Like many tribes they were nomadic hunters that lived in the Great Plains of
Montana and the Canadian provinces of Alberta. The name is said to have come from the colour
of the peoples shoes that were made of leather. They had typically dyed or painted the soles of
their shoes black.
SOCIETY:
The society is hierarchical within the Blackfoot Nation; there were different societies to which
people belonged, each of which had functions for the tribe. Young people were invited into
societies after proving themselves by recognized passages and rituals. For instance, young men had

The male had to show the woman s father his skills as a hunter or warrior. If the father was
impressed and approved of the marriage, the man and woman would exchange gifts of horses and
clothing and were considered married. The married couple would reside in their own tipi or with
the husband s family. Although the man was permitted more than one wife, typically he only chose
one. In cases of more than one wife, quite often the male would choose a sister of the wife,
believing that sisters would not argue as much as total strangers
In a typical Blackfoot family, the father would go out and hunt and bring back supplies that the
family might need. The mother would stay close to home and watch over the children while the
father was out. The children were taught basic survival skills and culture as they grew up. It was
generally said that both boys and girls learned to ride horses early. Boys would usually play with
toy bows and arrows until they were old enough to learn how to hunt.
TRADITIONS/RELIGION:
The Blackfoot Indian tribes held a major tribal ceremony in the summer, for which all the bands

carried up to the Creator, who would bless them with well being and abundance of buffalo. Other

that the collaborating agencies work together to achieve the common mandates. The Federal
government and the State department of Illinois have closely worked together to ensure that they
eliminate the existing barriers that limit access to education. Communities can suffer significant
setbacks if education is not prioritized with the significant impact being on the lack of the
necessary skills to improve the social welfare of old people (Cunningham, 2014). The
collaboration between ICCB and IDHS aims at improving the skills of working people by
extending educational services to the vulnerable members of the society. The collaboration of the

Poverty and Inequality in Society
Have you ever wondered what it s like to live in poverty? No proper food, shelter or even clean
water. And have you ever stopped for a moment and thought about how inequality and separation
has affected the world? Everyone is born different yet we still treat each other differently because of
our race, ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality. Povertyand Inequality has been one of the world
s major concerns. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Poverty is the
inability to afford the resources you need to survive; water, food, shelter and results in a few
getting wealthy and the majority living in poverty. Inequality is the limiting of people s social
status. This has an effect on your income, resources, opportunities, citizenship and civil rights,
lifestyle, education and the list goes on (The Stanford Center, n.d.). Poverty is increasing day by
day and this is because the governments in many countries have limited access to resources to
supply to the people (Global Issues, 2013). Over 3 billion people survive on less than $2.50 a
day. One in every two children lives in poverty. Millions live without proper shelter, safe water
or access to health services. In 2003, 10.6 million died before they reach the age of 5 (Global
Issues, 2013). This means that there have been roughly 29000 deaths per day. Poverty exists in all
countries in the world but is most severe in lower income countries. The rate of poverty is higher in
countries that have

Injustice In Letter From Birmingham Jail
When injustice is in place we as citizens must react, and this is exactly what Martin Luther King
Jr. did. Letter from Birmingham Jail is a letter written by Martin Luther King Jr. while he was in
jail. King was in jail for partaking in protests against segregation. King s clergymen have recently
called him out for his actions, stating that they are unwise and untimely. King then goes on to state
why he thinks his actions are wise and timely. He then goes on talking about the unjustness in
Birmingham at the time. King at the beginning tried to negotiate with the Birmingham community
to stop segregation, but it ended up going nowhere. He ended up using nonviolent direct action
which this started to make a difference. Martin Luther King Jr. s reasoning and evidence of his
actions are very persuasive. The clergymen stated that King s actions of taking nonviolent direct
actions is wrong and he should have negotiated with Brimingham. King think s that direct actions
like, sit ins and marches, were really the only option. King writes, The purpose of our direct
action program is to create a situation so crisis packed that it will inevitably open the door to
negotiation, (Pg 2, Paragraph 6). So, King does agree that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The clergymen were questioning why he didn t give Birmingham administration time to react.
King wrote, The only answer that I can give to this query is that the new Birmingham
administration must be prodded about as much as the outgoing one, before it will act. We are
sadly mistaken if we feel that the election of Albert Boutwell as mayor will bring the millennium
to Birmingham, (Pg 2, paragraph 7). King pretty much said that waiting to negotiate with the
administration would take hard work and a lot of time. He also said waiting for Albert Boutwell
to become mayor would also be a waste because he is also a segregationist. That is why he reacted
quickly, and took direct action right

Chain Store Contract
There are various elements that should be present to prove a valid contract exists between Sam
and the chain store. There are four elements of a contract and they consist of an offer and
agreement, consideration, contractual capacity, legal subject matter, and no valid defenses
(Kubasek, 2015). The first element agreement would be considered to exist if: the safety chain
store (offerer) made an offer to Sam (offeree) with actual intent to be bound to an agreement,
definite terms were agreed on, and if communication occurred between Sam and the chain store.
The second element of consideration would be deemed to exist if the chain store discussed the type
of payment Sam would have received for delivering 1,000 units of his new invention. Consideration,

Such a contract may be verbal or in writing under a standard residential lease agreement. There are
a few facts that may support Sam being in breach of his contract. One fact is that Sam did not
retrieve a license to make and sell his inventions. All 50 states have statues that require certain
professions to have licenses before they practice (Kubasek, 2015). Sam could also be in breach for
violating covenant of quiet enjoyment, which is the promise the tenant has the right to quietly
enjoy his surroundings (Kubasek, 2015). Since the noise from Sam s barking device has bothered
other tenants, he is interfering with their right to quiet enjoyment. Otherwise, this loud barking
invention has become a nuisance for the other tenants. Some facts that may support that Sam is not
in breach of his contract are mistake of fact, which consists of unconscious ignorance of past or

John Steinbeck John Steinbeck, the author of 26 novels, was one of the most prolific and popular
American writers of the twentieth century. Steinbeck was the first and only western American
novelist to both win the Nobel Prize and top the bestseller list. The peak of his career came with
the publication of his masterpiece, The Grapes of Wrath (1939). The novel won the Pulitzer
Prize and the National Book Award and also generated controversy over its portrayal of
California s sometimes merciless agricultural world, as well as its so called vulgar language and
socialist bias. A novel that encouraged the ideas of realism and called for social protest, The

showed signs of Realism, a prominent literary movement of the late 19th century. This movement
is closely tied to Charles Darwin, author of The Origin of Species, and backer of the theory of
evolution. This theory caused Steinbeck as well as other realist, to disregard the highly symbolic,

Importance Of Criminal Rights
Are criminals granted too many rights? Ever since the groundbreaking Supreme Court case of
Gideon V. Wainwright in 1963, further rights have been admitted to felons. Now, criminals can
conveniently surpass the harsh rulings of the court and not be found guilty. Even though criminals
should be granted rights during trials, there have been unnecessary decisions passed giving more
rights to the accused.
Before it can be determined whether criminals are granted an excess number of rights, the rights
that the criminals are given must be examined. Felons have the right to the Writ of Habeas
Corpus. Habeas Corpus is the right for the accused to be brought in front of a judge to determine
whether they are truly guilty or not ( Habeas Corpus ). A criminal can now be held for a longer
period of time until they are proven guilty while also be granted a fair trial. Another right given to
criminals is the trial by jury. This is the most important right granted to any felon as stated in
Article III of the Constitution and by the Sixth Amendment. People accused of crimes can now be
tried in front of a panel of normal citizens. The next right given to the accused is the right against
self incrimination. According to Cornell University, self incrimination is defined as the act of
implicating oneself in a crime or exposing oneself to criminal prosecution. The Fifth Amendment of
the Constitution protects a person from being compelled to incriminate oneself. Also termed self
crimination;

Annie Lee Moss Appearance Before Mccarthy s Committee
Annie Lee Moss appearance before McCarthy s committee (1954) In addition to limiting
freedom of speech through the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Smith Act, Congress continued
on a witch hunt to remove all dissenters in any way they could, often charging and prosecuting
individuals based on circumstantial evidence. This period, often referred to as the Second Red
Scare, followed World War II and came as the United States entered the Cold War, was a time of
much paranoia. One of the many cases during this period that showed how little evidence was
used against individuals to incriminate them was the case of Annie Lee Moss. According to a
F.B.I informant, Ms. Moss was a card carrying, dues paying member of the Communist party and
was brought to testify before McCarthy s committee, for she was alleged to have examined and
correct secret, encoded oversee messages. (The McCarthy Years) As they began to question
Moss, it became clear that the evidence against her was only circumstantial. For starters, the
F.B.I informant had never seen Moss in person, but just knew her name appeared in records kept
by the communist party. This was clearly not enough to convict someone of being a spy,
especially since it was later said in testimony that three others name Annie Lee Moss in the area.
Second of all, she was said to have connections with a white man by the name of Rob Halls, who
was a well known Communist, but the Rob Halls Moss knew was a colored man. This once again

Taking a Look a the Munchausen Syndrome
Munchausen!!!
If you know someone with munchausen syndrome, you know how bad the disease is. If you
don t know someone with the disease, I will tell you all about it. the disease isn t very big or
popular anymore, because not a lot of women don t have this disease anymore. I have done a lot
of research, and most of the diagnoses were done in the 1900s, but the disease is still around
some places. This disease is mostly diagnosed to women, because most men don t feel the need
to these kind of things. Personally, I don t know anyone with the disease, but I have been doing
research for a while and things do get really serious. The disease is when women, that have
children, don t feel enough love from their kids so they poison their kids food, and when kids are
sick, what do they usually want the most their momma. Then the kids want their mother and the
mothers feel loved more that usual. Women with munchausen are putting the lives of innocent
children in danger, some are even going to the extreme and taking their lives.
Munchausen syndrome is a serious mental disorder in which someone with a deep need for
attention pretends to be sick or gets sick or injured on purpose. People with Munchausen syndrome
may make up symptoms, push for risky operations, or try to rig laboratory test results to try to win
sympathy and concern.Typically, the cause is a need for attention and sympathy from doctors,
nurses, and other professionals. Some experts believe that it isn t just the

Even back in Elizabethan times, female actors painted their face white to show them as part of the

also found the high school and adult characters interacting with the audience distracting. I feel
actors, of all people, should know how important getting into and staying in character is, not only

The Substantially Likely Factor
The government has failed to demonstrate that the forced medication of Mr. Whitman against his
will, is substantially likely to render him competent to stand trial. To protect the liberty interests of
defendants who are initially too ill to stand trial, the Supreme Court implemented the four pronged
Sell Test. Per the holding of Sell, in order to physically subdue and forcibly medicate a sick
defendant who has not consented to treatment, the government must demonstrate by presenting
clear and convincing evidence, that such treatment is substantially likely to make the sick
defendant well enough to stand trial. See Sell v. United States, 539 U.S. 166, 180, 123 S. Ct.(2003).

Survival At The Cost Of Mortality In Literature
The theme of survival at the cost of morality is evident in an abundant amount of literature seen
today. This type of literature is studied everywhere from school classrooms to reading on an
individual s free time. Morality relates to what behavior is considered right or wrong based on
an individual s ethics. Sometimes a person may do things that they did not originally intend to
do, but they feel as if they have to behave this way to get what they want, or even survive. The
characters discussed in this English course that have displayed the quality of survival at the cost of
mortality is Pi, Claudius, and Hamlet. The most obvious example of a character that had to go

his mother s remarriage to Claudius: ...Why she, even she / O God, a beast that wants discourse

marriage brought upon him. However, anyone would be upset if their mother ended up

The Effects Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses Essay
Dr. Barak
ENGL 111
30 September 2016
Break the Silence On January 22, 2014, President Barack Obama signed the Presidential
Memorandum, forming the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault.
This task force was established to help decrease sexual assaults in college campuses and create
awareness of this little talked about topic. Many college students don t believe sexual assault is
an issue until it happens to them or someone they re close with. Sexual assault affects the victims
by making them feel helpless and causing serious negative effects on their emotional health.
Many of these incidents don t get reported due to students feeling unsafe or feeling like it isn t
that big of a deal. Even those that are reported, sometimes aren t taken seriously by the school s
administrators. College should be a fun learning experience, where safety shouldn t be a concern.
Sexual assault is a serious issue in the United States especially in college campuses. Many of the
victims are left with devastating lifelong problems. Depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress
disorders are only a few of the mental effects. In addition, many of the victims sustain injuries as a
result of forced sexual assault. There is also a high risk of sexually transmitted infections including
human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) due to
forced sexual contact. The emotional trauma can eventually lead the victims to attempt or commit

When the validity and reliability of this tool is replicated and verified thru further wide scale
studies, then this scale can be used as an evaluation tool for the effectiveness of an intervention that
aims on improving routine health behaviors. In addition, Tyler and Horner (2008) used Denham s
FHM as a construct for their collaborative negotiation model. This model describes a process in
promoting health and reducing health risk factors in primary care setting by (1) identifying factors
that affect individual health and risk status, (2) using family centered intervention to negotiate
behavior change and (3) measuring it using health indicators that reflect the outcomes of the
provider family interaction. Applying the FHM in the nursing practice will not only make the nurse
or APN a more effective healthcare provider, it will provide a more holistic benefit for the
individual and family health. FHM in nursing practice encourages family in focusing on the well
being of the individuals through health promotion and prevention rather than focus on illness and
disease alleviated solely thru treatment and medicines. Furthermore, nurses using the FHM will be
able to assist family needs by collaborating with family to develop useful interventions that is within

Industrialization Of The Second Industrial Revolution
The Second Industrial Revolution, which reached its peak during 1870 to 1914, marked a

and the Mexican cession of Southwest territory guaranteed by the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo of
1848, (Engelman) America was able to expand their territory and access new resources.

Other plentiful resources include coal, iron, oil, and ore (Pacheco). The utilization of these
resources led to a variety of new inventions. Using iron, one valuable invention that was created to
make agriculture more efficient was the iron bladed plow, created by Jethro Wood in 1819, that
could plow through all types of fields (Alchin). Perhaps the most important advancement was the
development of railroads, such as between 1863 and 1869 when the first transcontinental railroad
was built using iron. This railroad linked the east and west the Atlantic to the Pacific which was a
true phenomenon during this time (Alchin). Both these revolutionary creations, the bladed plow
and the transcontinental railroad, among many others, allowed the economy to prosper, due to the
use of the natural resources. The railroad increased efficiency and wealth for citizens nationwide,
as this opened up new markets for farmers, industrialists, and bankers who could now bring crops
and cotton from the Mississippi River Valley, wheat in the Midwest, and manufactured goods in
upstate New York into a global market based on credit (Engelman). Another significant reason why
our economy prospered during this revolution was the expanding labor force available to work in
factories to mass produce products. The opportunity to work in industrial factories attracted millions

In the eighteenth century, relations amongst food and the state grew stronger, ranging from farmer
wages to the amount of food that is produced. However, Anne Hardy s article, Pioneers in the
Victorian provinces: veterinarians, public health, and the urban animal economy speaks about the
increased attention to public health in the United Kingdom bolstered the relationship between
food and the state. The emergence of the veterinarians, several acts being passed regarding public
health, and studies that showed correlations between human diseases with animal diseases, all
turned food into a vital part of the state. Before the mid eighteenth century, public health was an
issue that was largely overlooked, but new investigations regarding fever among the lower class
made way for new research regarding public health. One of the biggest issues in the cities were
the abundance of animals, ranging from horses, to cattle, to pigs. However, what the cities did not
realize was the harmful effects that these animals had on the environment. When animals would
die, their carcasses would generate vapors that led to diseases and illness. Although there was a
catastrophic cattle plague in 1865 1866, the Victorian government did not look at animals in the
city a significant issue until the end of the century. 1876 was a pivotal year in regards to animals
and their effects on society. In 1876 studies showed the specific agents of diseasethat were linked

Political Philosophy And The Natural Law
Political philosophy and the natural law are seldom reflected on in politics. Typically, persons in a
political or civil society are often distracted by fiscal success or recreational leisure. In society
today, there exists a consensus reality with the prospect of money and power. This reality emanates
from a scandalous and corrupted political system. As a result, there lacks the recognition of
idealistic values on liberalism, human rights, and the natural law. There have been several
philosophers who have tried to conceptualize what constitutes a political philosophy. Several
theorists produced valid points, highlighting the epitome of both politics and citizenship.
Consequently, there was one philosopher that was able to produce a much more valid theory. John
Lockephilosophized that the political system is rooted from the law of nature. The law of nature
states that all persons are equal, inducing limitations or restrictions on human freedom and personal
liberty. Locke believed that natural rights was not created by societal inclinations, but rather
discovered by reason. Locke s concept of political philosophy emphasizes that the law of nature
furnishes persons rights to self preservation, self defense, and personal liberty. (Personal Liberty,
414) Locke s theory on the political system was quite interesting because he believed that the

through Sonnet 43 , we notice that five of the 14 lines do not end with a set pause; rather, they are
enjambed. Enjambed means to carry over; this term describes how one line flows into the next
without hesitation. To try to understand what Barrett Browning s intentions might be for this move
away from traditional form, it is useful again to notice what the mood of the poem is where she
breaks the rules. In the first stanza, as she begins to count the ways, the ways she

I. Executive Summary
My decision for this case is to implement the Just In Time Distribution (JITD) system. Barilla
SpA, an Italian pasta manufacturer, is experiencing amplified levels of inefficiencies and rising
costs due to variability in demand from its distributors. In order to bring things back into place and
to improve margins, Giorgio Magialli, the Director of Logistics at Barilla wants to implement a Just
In Time Distribution (JITD) system that was proposed by his ... Show more content on

Subsequently, this is the first reason for demand fluctuation because it results in excessive
promotional activities. Barilla also offers volume discounts; paying for transportation to
distributors and offering incentives of 2% to 3% for orders in full truck load quantities which was
another reason for demand fluctuation. Accordingly, most distributors place their orders with
Barilla once a week yet their sales volumes vary; another reason for Barilla s inefficiency since
there was no limit in order quantities from its distributors. Nearly all of the distributors have
computer supported ordering systems but only a few of them have sophisticated forecasting
systems or analytical tools for determining order quantities. Consequently, this indicated a lack of
sophisticated forecasting techniques and it is our final reason for demand fluctuation.
The impact of the issues mentioned earlier is really hurting Barilla s entire channel. The extreme
demand of order variability overburdened Barilla s manufacturing and logistics operation and
causes a Bullwhip effect in the entire supply chain. In addition, it is very difficult to quickly
produce a particular pasta product that has been sold out due to unanticipated high demand, which
results in poor product delivery. Furthermore, holding sufficient finished goods inventories to meet
distributors order requirements is very expensive and difficult to predict which results in increased
inventory carrying costs.

The Cold Equations By Tom Godwin
Our group selected the short story The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin as a basis for our play.
This play is about a girl named Marilyn who was ejected from the Stardust aircraft. Our group
selected this play so we could create an exciting, interesting, and a suspenseful alternative
ending. We titled our alternative ending The Slightly Warmer Equation because of the happy
and light storyline that our play has in comparison to the dark and dreadful storyline of The
Cold Equations. The reason we did this was so we could convey to our audience that Marilyn
was getting closer to solving her own life equation and living happily ever after. The main
conflict in the play is that Marilyn has floated onto the Octagon spacecraft belonging to aliens.
She is then discovered by an alien named Malron, her life is put in jeopardy, and to her surprise
she begins to have romantic feelings for him. By the end of the play Marilyn accepts her feelings
for Malron and they live happily ever after. Our play uses the conventional elements of drama by
having a clear setting, an identifiable protagonist and antagonists, a pyramidal pattern, and an
entertaining and positive storyline for our audience. An essential piece to making our story
understanding and entertaining was that we needed to include the proper elements of setting: place,
time, and environment. The play s setting takes place aboard the Octagon alien spacecraft. As for
the time period of our play, we used exposition in the

A Day For A Hospital Volunteer
The skateboard flew from underneath her as she slammed down onto the concrete, her
belongings scattering everywhere around her. As I picked up her belongings to return to her, I
noticed she had landed on her back and was bleeding from her head. Everyone gathered around
us. An assistant teacher tried to help her up when I exclaimed, Stop! You re never supposed to
move someone with a head wound. Two others brought her water to help her feel better, but I
denied their suggestion, informing them that she shouldn t have any water or food in case she
needs to have a procedure at the hospital. I wouldn t let anyone near this girl until the paramedics
arrived. I held her hands in an attempt to comfort her while we waited. It was in those moments
that I found myself grateful for everything I had learned as a hospital volunteer, while
simultaneously wishing I could help the girl even more. While I had all the right knowledge to
prevent more harm from coming to this stranger who fell off her skateboard, I was unable to
provide the level of care I desired.
After that incident, I decided it was time I did more for my community. I began explaining health
insurance to community members in Summer of 2013, and in doing so, I have become more
aware of the great dearth in easily accessible health care. To help remedy this situation, I compiled
binders full of information on free or low cost health care resources in the Inland Empire. I go to
local clinics and health fairs to connect

Popular Culture And Pop Culture
Pop culture, short for popular culture, is the entirety of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, images, and
other phenomena that are within the mainstream of a given culture (Wilson, 2014). It refers to
products that are generally recognized and enjoyed by the majority of the people ((Wilson, 2014).
Pop cultureis manifested around the world through movies, music, television shows, newspapers,
satellite broadcasts, food and clothing, sports, news (as in people/places in news), politics, and
technology (West, 2016). Internet and social media also play a huge role in pop culture. Pop
culture is almost often, if not always, interesting and appealing to most people. However, people s
preferences over things are constantly changing. This is why no one can ever tell how long will...

The content of popular culture is favorably determined by industries that disseminate cultural
material, for example publishing industries, as well as mass media that greatly influences the
people (Wilson, 2014). In spite of this, popular culture is not only the collective product imposed by
industries and media, rather, it is the result of the continuing interaction between those industries
and media and the people of the society who consume their products (Wilson, 2014). Masses decide
and consume what is popular. With all of these things taken into consideration, what role does pop
culture play in education? Since pop culture permeates the everyday lives of the people in the
society, teachers have to be innovative in a way that they will take into account integrating or using
pop culture as their teaching material because they see it as an opportunity for students to become
more interested, further engaged, and actively involved in the classroom for the reason that
students play an important role in determining what s pop culture or not thereby making themselves

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association has a Vision to...
The National Cattlemen s Beef Association is a trade association and policy group that represents
all segments of the cattle industry: producers, feeders, and breeders. The association has over
28,000 individual members and represents over 230,000 people in the industry. The current
president of NCBA, Scott George, is a cow/calf producer from Wyoming with a long history in the
dairy industry and policy groups as a member of the FarmBureau. In addition to its role in U.S.
policy, the NCBA conducts research, marketing, and promotional work for cattle ranchers. The
NCBA s vision is an industry united around a common goal of being the world s most trusted and
preferred source of beef and beef products. The economic interests of the cattle... Show more

In the early 70s, the cattle market suffered a severe crash. To combat this and increase beef
demand, the ANCA helped create a beef checkoff program which began in 1986 and worked to
educate the population and promote high quality beef. In 1977, the National Livestock Feeder s
Association combined with the ANCA to create the National Cattlemen s Association, developing a
wider membership in the cattle industry. Over the next 20 years the group was able to fully focus
on its policy actions by concerning itself with several issues regarding future markets, food safety,
and the environment. Finally, in 1996, the NCA merged with the Beef Industry Council of the Meat
Board, allowing for full coverage of all aspects of the cattle industry and creating the National
Cattlemen s Beef Association as it is known today (Patrick). The NCBA continues to fight
against the same challenges it has faced in its more than a hundred year history as well as the
new challenges of today. As recently as this week, the NCBA has had trouble influencing policy
in its favor. The country of origin labeling requirements in the 2014 Farm Bill were not changed to
the NCBA s liking (Farm Press). The new rules require meat products to be labeled with where the
cattle was born,

Native American Narrative
My husband of 5 years, Larry, and I woke around 7 a.m. to finish packing our things into our
prairie schooner, in which we bought supplies for and made ourselves. Our 3 year old daughter,
Lucy, is still sleeping, so we pack her things too. We pack light, so that our oxen, Moses, Alfred,
and Edward, will be able to pull the wagon. Once we leave, we will be leaving our home above
Larry s blacksmith shop in Knoxville, Tennessee. We are also leaving my parents and our closest
friends. My husband s parents are the main reason we re leaving, they both got very sick with
tuberculosis and passed away, so we don t want our child around those sicknesses. In Oregon, we
will get free land since we have one man in our family. Except on the way, I know that it will be
very hard. I know this because of all the talk inside the coffeeshop just 5 minutes of a wagon ride
from our home. We have been in there lately because we are buying coffee grounds to take with us
on our trip.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and we went to each wagon in her wagon train to ask. Everyone was very friendly and nice, so
they are letting us ride with their wagon train. We went back to our wagon and I told Larry the
good news. Larry was excited, but also a little nervous about them since he does not know them. I

Mistakes In Lost Cities, Lost Treasure
A mistake cost an adventurer from discovering an ancient lost city. Sometimes mistakes lead to
greatness, but are they worth the trouble they cause? Mistakes are not key to making discoveries
because mistakes can cause problems, mistakes can be dangerous, and most big discoveries were
invented with no mistakes. To begin, mistakes can cause problems. If you are a construction
worker and you make a mistakeby not putting the right size beam on the building that whole
building can collapse because of just that one little mistake. In the passage Lost Cities, Lost
Treasure Schiliemann s careless actions erased important clues to Troy s past. That careless action
set Schliemann and Calvert back from finding the ancient city Troy. Schliemann did get all credit
for discovering Troy but he was not just famous for the. He, Schliemann, also became... Show more

In the passage In Praise of Careful Science Pierre and Marie Curie spent years studying radium. If
they were not careful the radiation from the radium could have either injured them horribly or
killed them. The scientist who invented the microwave spent 20 years to release it to the public.
If those scientist just released it as soon as they got it just to heat up food they could have been
killed by the dangerous electromagnetic microwaves. All the same, mistakes can be a danger to
anybody who make them. By the same token, most big discoveries were invented with no
mistakes. In the passage In Praise of Careful Science John Denker says, I am reminded of the
rock star who said it took him 15 years to become an overnight sensation. Scientist John Denker
says that many big discoveries were actually invented, step by step with little to no mistakes made.
When magnetron and radar were discovered they were researched for years. The scientists worked
to avoid any mistakes while working. In other words, most scientist want to work with very little to

A Sacrifice For Passion By Stephenie Meyers
Escarlin Perez Novel: New Moon June 8th, 2015
A Sacrifice for Passion. In accordance with a renowned statement that is reference by Stephenie
Meyers from the novel, New Moon, happens to entitle an astonishing significance to the novel
itself. Furthermore, the statement on page 71, from Meyers in New Moon (said by Edward Cullen),
states as follows, I promise that this will be the last time you ll see me. I won t come back. I
won t put you through anything like this again. You can go on with your life without any more
interference from me. It will be as if I d never existed. In other words, this statement would be a
great example of the true meaning of sacrifice. Sacrifice that is, is being willing to lose
something or someone for the sake of others benefit. Sacrifice tides closely around the statement
mention by Edward Cullen in the novel referred to as, New Moon. Who is Edward Cullen, you
ask? To begin with, Edward Cullen is the male protagonist in the novel, written by Meyers.
Edward is a vampire who is one hundred and seven years old, but portrays to be seventeen years

As this Is becoming the norm, for media to be more interactive, new regulations come into question. This is particularly true for virtual reality games. Kate Edwards wrote a response to whether virtual realityvideo games should be more regulated than conventional video games for Congressional Quarterly Researcher in the February 26, 2016, issue. The analysis of virtual reality was written by Thomas J. Billitteri. Edward s experience on the issue comes from being the executive director of the International Game Developers Association. Edwards claims, Every new media has experienced a level of caution and critical examination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Edwards fails to provide any sort of numerical examples or specifics to support her position. She simply states her point and moves on, only providing vague support to enhance her argument. To improve her arguments, it would be beneficial to see timeline examples from how long it took other of media like radio and television to become mainstream after their introduction. Also , to increase the strength of her argument, the inclusion of a professional opinion from a developer (HTC, Sony, Etc.) on how video games don t differ from virtual reality enough to constitute further regulations. Edwards focuses most her article comparing the introduction of virtual reality to other media types and their history. By focusing her argument on comparing media types, it seems she hopes to convince the reader that it is alike any other technology and doesn t differ, thus not needing further regulation. In doing this, she doesn t leave room for supporting details and specific examples, leaving her with a rather weak argument . She also includes a paragraph on the liabilities of new ideas, that seems to distract from her argument. She concludes her argument saying that virtual reality is protected alike video games under the first amendment of free speech. Again, she is straying from the point of her argument and filling with unsupported arguments . This is an irreverent argument because while they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

None of the present reform efforts in Congress is relevant to or addresses the true cause of these immigrants claims for legal rights as other Americans. Consider you were walking home at night. This responsibility comes from the U.S. government s bloody hands in establishing influence and dominance in their native country in order to sustain stability and security for the operation of the U.S. corporate entities who ravaged the nation s resources and wealth, subjugated its working class and suppressed its people through a dictatorial government under American protection. For example consider the power and influence of the American Fruit Company in Central and South America established and operated for decades at the cost of tens of thousands lives of innocent citizens whose only crime was to have control over their own land and national resources. The history is well illustrative of the American direct or indirect and often bloody suppression in countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq. In some of these countries the U.S. military operation had amounted to the level of genocide such as Vietnam where 2 to 4 million human lives were destroyed including total population of many villages; Indonesia, where by the help of the U.S. government the socialist government of Sukarno was overthrown and replaced by that of Suharto who slaughtered about ... • 5. Explore American Art History How to explore the history of American through the art? Films and books break the limit of time to be the common way to explore the history of American for people. Indeed, visiting the famous museum and watching popular historical operas also are two of the most effective approaches to explore the development of America. Famous museums generally preserve a large amounts of artworks which are historical and precious to remind people. In my opinion, Boston s MFA is a good choice to explore the history of America because it is located in the center of American revolution and it is considered to be the most decisive change. Thus, people are able to realize what is American about American history through the art. The perception of the art of Americas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dating back to the late 18th century, America had improved their system to be relatively wealthy and to be a stable country. Our Time Essay Alex Leen 9/5/12 English 110, 11:00 Final Draft of paper 1 In the essay Our Time by John Edgar Wideman he often takes a break from the narrative to address that he has many problems as a writer. He does this to try to consciously address these problems and hopefully solve these problems. He believes that if these problems are not rectified he would destroy any chance he has at telling a truthful account of his brother s story. To rectify these problems he employs a variety of unique techniques in his writing. Looking at these techniques it is not always 100% clear how these are fixing his problems. The first of the three is Garth s death. When Garth died he lost his best friend, one of the few people that he truly loved. After Garth died Robby got big into drugs, I think its cause he was depressed after the loss and wanted to forget. It was a major turning point in Robby s life and in my opinion the most important of the three events that could have started the story. The second one is his own birth. People may wonder why this wouldn t be the logical starting point seeing as how it s his birth and makes sense chronologically. The reason this can be seen as starting point of his troubles isn t because he was born so it could happen as you d probably think. It s because for as long as he could remember his birthday was overshadowed. It was right after Christmas so it always felt a little insignificant compared to the biggest holiday of the year. There were also the unfortunate events of death that seemed to follow his birthday around like a cloud. All of his Grandparents died near his birthday and that has to take a toll on you. To have your birthday associated with the deaths of loved ones must be extremely hard. The third and final possible starting point is his childhood home in Shadyside. Nothing particularly traumatizing happened in this passage but it s still important none the less. In this he talks about how he grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood. He was around white people all the time and felt that they had it easier than him. Also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Toxic Leadership The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadershipis a serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to continue? Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes, motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead. Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just unable to inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. With education and training NCOs with poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders. Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an ... • 9. An Analysis Of Haraway s Manifesto Manifesto Essay In a world invested in (overly) determined biological authenticity, its margins will be populated by the identified and self identifying cyborgs. This is not a coincidence. Haraway s Manifesto strongly suggests that in such a mixed subjugated population emergent opportunities for political alliances based on affinities thrives. She reminds us that cyborgs do not/cannot respect traditional boundaries and are therefore driven by survival (294) imperatives to reach across, to break through, to shatter windows and ceilings, to ultimately be fluid and flow between hardened boundaries and between worlds of status quo. In other words, to not only create patchwork identities but to construct political understandings and positions through patchwork or coalition politics. For alliances to work there must first be alignments. Haraway locates these through Sandoval (2000) who in Methodology for The Oppressed, notes a connectivity between the mestiza consciousness that emerges from the Anzalduan borderlands where feminists of color keep intact shifting and multiple identities with integrity and love and the commitment to partiality, irony, intimacy and perversity of cyborgs (168) . It becomes salient to highlight how these shifting and multiple identities are survival mechanisms activated in response to being othered by dominant politics and those who espouse them. Both feminists of color and cyborgs have utilized these mechanisms by recreating themselves in response, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Workmen s Auto Insurance Company V. Guy Carpenter, Inc. Are Insurance Brokers Agents Fiduciaries? Insurers, insureds, and even their attorneys frequently incorrectly assume that insurance agents and brokers owe fiduciary duties to their insureds. While the law is not completely clear regarding the applicability of agency principles and their fiduciary duties in this area, legal precedent can offer some guidance on the issue. Currently, there is no appellate precedent permitting an insured to sue its agent or broker under a common law action for breach of fiduciary duty. However, the California courts have yet to be willing to rule that the cause of action based on common law agency principles is completely inapplicable to brokers and agents. Demonstrative of the Court s unwillingness to create a bright line rule is the heavily litigated case of Workmen s Auto InsuranceCompany v. Guy Carpenter Co., Inc. In 2011, the Court of Appeal in Workmen s answered the question regarding fiduciary duties of brokers and agents definitively in the negative, ruling that an insurance broker cannot be sued for breach of fiduciary duty. The ruling finally provided the guidance and rule necessary to put the issue to rest. I am to examine three aspects of the traffic stop and arrest, the initial stop, the extension of the stop, and the details surrounding the consent to search given by Mr. Caulfield. Issue #1 Under Texas law, can evidence found during a traffic stop be excluded because the stop in question was for what would be considered a very minor offense? Issue #2 Under Texas law, can evidence seized during a stop for a minor traffic violation be excluded based on the prolonged continuation of said traffic stop? Issue #3 Under Texas law, can evidence seized during a routine traffic stop be excluded based on consent to search, when it is not clear whether consent was voluntarily given? Brief Answer Issue #1 Under Texas law, can evidence found during a traffic stop be excluded because the stop in question was for what would be considered a very minor offense? No, police officers are justified in making a traffic stop whenever they witness a traffic violation. Mr. Caulfield did commit traffic infractions, and no matter how minor the violations, Officer Campbell was justified in stopping him for those infractions. Maximilian alienated his conservative allies by trying to adopt liberal policies in which he failed to win over the liberals. By 1866, Napoleon III ordered withdrawal of French troops. Wilkie was charged with two offences of dishonesty as a company s officer and misleading an auditor of the company, Mainprize was also charged with the same three offences and Burroughs was charged with a misleading a company s auditor offence. The three directors made the auditors and the investors of the company believe that it was adequately reserved. In other words, they made these auditors and investors believe the company had attained an $8.6 million profit whereas it had actually incurred a $ 19.1 million loss. The company s ten year partnership with Disney was about to end and the company had three options: draft a new agreement with Disney, find a new partner, or set up their own marketing and distribution network.[1] Renewing the partnership with Disney seemed, to many, like an obvious choice. The arrangement had been a boon to the fledgling studio when it was first starting out. Flowers and Trees was also the first cartoon to win an animation Oscar.[17] Snow White, which had both color and sound, made use of other innovations as well. The multiplane camera, developed by the studio, allowed Disney animators to create layered scenes with pictures of objects in the foreground and background suspended on sheets of glass at different layers of a fourteen foot platform to create the illusion of a three dimensional world.[18] Further innovations followed. Fantasia, launched in 1941, was the first animated film to feature stereophonic sound. (The movie s success was limited, however, by a combination of factors. One practical hurdle was that theaters had to install new sound systems to show it and the onset of World War II made theater owners hesitant to make the investment.)[19] In years that followed, Disney would expand beyond animated features into live action film and television and into the ... And have you ever stopped for a moment and thought about how inequality and separation has affected the world? Everyone is born different yet we still treat each other differently because of our race, ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality. Povertyand Inequality has been one of the world s major concerns. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Poverty is the inability to afford the resources you need to survive; water, food, shelter and results in a few getting wealthy and the majority living in poverty. Inequality is the limiting of people s social status. This has an effect on your income, resources, opportunities, citizenship and civil rights, lifestyle, education and the list goes on (The Stanford Center, n.d.). Poverty is increasing day by day and this is because the governments in many countries have limited access to resources to supply to the people (Global Issues, 2013). Over 3 billion people survive on less than $2.50 a day. One in every two children lives in poverty. Millions live without proper shelter, safe water or access to health services. Even though criminals should be granted rights during trials, there have been unnecessary decisions passed giving more rights to the accused. Before it can be determined whether criminals are granted an excess number of rights, the rights that the criminals are given must be examined. Felons have the right to the Writ of Habeas Corpus. Habeas Corpus is the right for the accused to be brought in front of a judge to determine whether they are truly guilty or not ( Habeas Corpus ). A criminal can now be held for a longer period of time until they are proven guilty while also be granted a fair trial. Another right given to criminals is the trial by jury. This is the most important right granted to any felon as stated in Article III of the Constitution and by the Sixth Amendment. One of the biggest issues in the cities were the abundance of animals, ranging from horses, to cattle, to pigs. However, what the cities did not realize was the harmful effects that these animals had on the environment. When animals would die, their carcasses would generate vapors that led to diseases and illness. Although there was a catastrophic cattle plague in 1865 1866, the Victorian government did not look at animals in the city a significant issue until the end of the century. 1876 was a pivotal year in regards to animals and their effects on society. In 1876 studies showed the specific agents of diseasethat were linked between animals and humans. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Political Philosophy And The Natural Law Political philosophy and the natural law are seldom reflected on in politics. Typically, persons in a political or civil society are often distracted by fiscal success or recreational leisure. In society today, there exists a consensus reality with the prospect of money and power. This reality emanates from a scandalous and corrupted political system. As a result, there lacks the recognition of idealistic values on liberalism, human rights, and the natural law. There have been several philosophers who have tried to conceptualize what constitutes a political philosophy. Several theorists produced valid points, highlighting the epitome of both politics and citizenship. Consequently, there was one philosopher that was able to produce a much more valid theory. John Lockephilosophized that the political system is rooted from the law of nature. The law of nature states that all persons are equal, inducing limitations or restrictions on human freedom and personal liberty. Locke believed that natural rights was not created by societal inclinations, but rather discovered by reason. Locke s concept of political philosophy emphasizes that the law of nature furnishes persons rights to self preservation, self defense, and personal liberty. (Personal Liberty, 414) Locke s theory on the political system was quite interesting because he believed that the government plays as a servant, working for the benefit of the people, in which the government claims their authority with only the ... • 40. Sonnet 43 Sonnet 43 (Sonnets From the Portuguese) BY Elizabeth Barrett Browning How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace. I love thee to the level of every day s Most quiet need, by sun and candle light. I love thee freely, as men strive for right; I love thee purely, as they turn from praise, I love thee with the passion put to use In my old griefs, and with my childhood s faith. I love thee with a love I seemed to lose With my lost saints I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life! and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death. On the other hand, as she moves on in the poem, and her voice gets more and more passionate as she continues to develop her list of ways she loves her husband, she builds each line s rhythm to match this mood. By the time we reach the final stanza, her lines find a rhythm of their own, almost completely ignoring traditional form WITH my LOST SAINTS I LOVE THEE with the BREATH,/SMILES, TEARS of ALL my LIFE! Another set structure for sonnets is how each line ends. Traditionally, each line ends with punctuation, a period, comma or otherwise to create a pause and contain a complete thought. Lines which end this way are called end stopped. Reading through Sonnet 43 , we notice that five of the 14 lines do not end with a set pause; rather, they are enjambed. Enjambed means to carry over; this term describes how one line flows into the next without hesitation. To try to understand what Barrett Browning s intentions might be for this move away from traditional form, it is useful again to notice what the mood of the poem is where she breaks the rules. In the first stanza, as she begins to count the ways, the ways she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recommendations VI. Implementation VII. Monitor and Control/ Conclusion I. Executive Summary My decision for this case is to implement the Just In Time Distribution (JITD) system. Barilla SpA, an Italian pasta manufacturer, is experiencing amplified levels of inefficiencies and rising costs due to variability in demand from its distributors. In order to bring things back into place and to improve margins, Giorgio Magialli, the Director of Logistics at Barilla wants to implement a Just In Time Distribution (JITD) system that was proposed by his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Subsequently, this is the first reason for demand fluctuation because it results in excessive promotional activities. Barilla also offers volume discounts; paying for transportation to distributors and offering incentives of 2% to 3% for orders in full truck load quantities which was another reason for demand fluctuation. Accordingly, most distributors place their orders with Barilla once a week yet their sales volumes vary; another reason for Barilla s inefficiency since there was no limit in order quantities from its distributors. Nearly all of the distributors have computer supported ordering systems but only a few of them have sophisticated forecasting systems or analytical tools for determining order quantities. Consequently, this indicated a lack of sophisticated forecasting techniques and it is our final reason for demand fluctuation. The impact of the issues mentioned earlier is really hurting Barilla s entire channel. The extreme demand of order variability overburdened Barilla s manufacturing and logistics operation and causes a Bullwhip effect in the entire supply chain. In addition, it is very difficult to quickly produce a particular pasta product that has been sold out due to unanticipated high demand, which results in poor product delivery. Furthermore, holding sufficient finished goods inventories to meet distributors order requirements is very expensive and difficult to predict which results in increased inventory carrying costs. • 42. The Cold Equations By Tom Godwin Our group selected the short story The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin as a basis for our play. This play is about a girl named Marilyn who was ejected from the Stardust aircraft. Our group selected this play so we could create an exciting, interesting, and a suspenseful alternative ending. We titled our alternative ending The Slightly Warmer Equation because of the happy and light storyline that our play has in comparison to the dark and dreadful storyline of The Cold Equations. The reason we did this was so we could convey to our audience that Marilyn was getting closer to solving her own life equation and living happily ever after. The main conflict in the play is that Marilyn has floated onto the Octagon spacecraft belonging to aliens. She is then discovered by an alien named Malron, her life is put in jeopardy, and to her surprise she begins to have romantic feelings for him. By the end of the play Marilyn accepts her feelings for Malron and they live happily ever after. Our play uses the conventional elements of drama by having a clear setting, an identifiable protagonist and antagonists, a pyramidal pattern, and an entertaining and positive storyline for our audience. An essential piece to making our story understanding and entertaining was that we needed to include the proper elements of setting: place, time, and environment. The play s setting takes place aboard the Octagon alien spacecraft. As for the time period of our play, we used exposition in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I picked up her belongings to return to her, I noticed she had landed on her back and was bleeding from her head. Everyone gathered around us. An assistant teacher tried to help her up when I exclaimed, Stop! You re never supposed to move someone with a head wound. Two others brought her water to help her feel better, but I denied their suggestion, informing them that she shouldn t have any water or food in case she needs to have a procedure at the hospital. I wouldn t let anyone near this girl until the paramedics arrived. I held her hands in an attempt to comfort her while we waited. It was in those moments that I found myself grateful for everything I had learned as a hospital volunteer, while simultaneously wishing I could help the girl even more. While I had all the right knowledge to prevent more harm from coming to this stranger who fell off her skateboard, I was unable to provide the level of care I desired. After that incident, I decided it was time I did more for my community. I began explaining health insurance to community members in Summer of 2013, and in doing so, I have become more aware of the great dearth in easily accessible health care. To help remedy this situation, I compiled binders full of information on free or low cost health care resources in the Inland Empire. I go to local clinics and health fairs to connect ... • 44. Popular Culture And Pop Culture Pop culture, short for popular culture, is the entirety of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, images, and other phenomena that are within the mainstream of a given culture (Wilson, 2014). It refers to products that are generally recognized and enjoyed by the majority of the people ((Wilson, 2014). Pop cultureis manifested around the world through movies, music, television shows, newspapers, satellite broadcasts, food and clothing, sports, news (as in people/places in news), politics, and technology (West, 2016). The content of popular culture is favorably determined by industries that disseminate cultural material, for example publishing industries, as well as mass media that greatly influences the people (Wilson, 2014). In spite of this, popular culture is not only the collective product imposed by industries and media, rather, it is the result of the continuing interaction between those industries and media and the people of the society who consume their products (Wilson, 2014). Masses decide and consume what is popular. With all of these things taken into consideration, what role does pop culture play in education? Since pop culture permeates the everyday lives of the people in the society, teachers have to be innovative in a way that they will take into account integrating or using pop culture as their teaching material because they see it as an opportunity for students to become more interested, further engaged, and actively involved in the classroom for the reason that students play an important role in determining what s pop culture or not thereby making themselves consumers of pop ... To combat this and increase beef demand, the ANCA helped create a beef checkoff program which began in 1986 and worked to educate the population and promote high quality beef. In 1977, the National Livestock Feeder s Association combined with the ANCA to create the National Cattlemen s Association, developing a wider membership in the cattle industry. Over the next 20 years the group was able to fully focus on its policy actions by concerning itself with several issues regarding future markets, food safety, and the environment. Finally, in 1996, the NCA merged with the Beef Industry Council of the Meat Board, allowing for full coverage of all aspects of the cattle industry and creating the National Cattlemen s Beef Association as it is known today (Patrick).
