The Theme Of Madness In Shakespeare, By William Shakespeare
Madness can be defined as the state of mental delusion/ mentally ill or showing extremely
foolish/eccentric behavior which begins with anger. The incorporation of madness in literature has
been a long standing tradition and can be encountered in these three works: King Lear by William
Shakespeare where he tells the story about King Lear whose madness has been promoted by his two
daughters, Regan and Goneril, Daddy by Sylvia Plath, where she reveals her anguish at her father s
death, she also discloses an eccentric behavior of attempting a suicide, and Medea by Euripides, where
we can encounter madness through the actions of Medea after being spurned by her husband Jason.
Insanity occupies a central place in these pieces of literature and ... Show more content on

King Lear slowly starts to descend in the complexity of insanity and his first sign of madness can be
seen through this quote ...Look look, a mouse! Peace, peace; this piece of toasted cheese will do
it...OH, well flown, bird! (Act IV.6. 88 91). Over time, he starts to realize that he made himself fall
into this trap and Regan and Goneril are the reason for his madness and lastly, he learns to conquer his
madness; however, it leads to a misfortune. On the other hand, Edgar, the son of Gloucester pretends
to be a madman and decides to live the life of a beggar due to Edmund evil intentions (Act 3, Scene
4). In this scenario, Edgar is able to save and live his life better even if the world considers him insane.
Edgar as a character symbolizes madness the most in King Lear. His loss of identity as a noble can be
seen as a form of madness. Obsession is a form of insanity that can be discovered in Daddy by Sylvia
Plath where the author shows hatred towards her own obsession with her dead father. With the use of
literary devices, she expresses her emotion towards the male figures in her life causes of her insanity.
Plath faces rejection from the society and from her family which leads to her insanity. An example of
her cutting off from the society can be seen in lines 69 70, The black telephone s off at the root, The
voices just can t work through. Due to her obsession towards her father, she tried to commit

Canadian Rebellions
List some of the impacts of the rebellions of Upper and Lower Canada
There are many lasting impacts of the rebellions of Upper and Lower Canada that are even present
today 200 years later. First is that Canada has a democratic government. During the rebellions,
Canadians could elect representatives but the representatives had very little power. The government
didn t care about the thoughts of the common person. Today the people cast votes for the Prime
Minister instead of it already being decided by a counsel of rich people. He cares about people s
opinions and tries to appeal to them to win office. Another way Canada has been influenced is we are
one country and are multicultural. Back in 1837 Canada was divided into two parts the French

Guidelines for the Arundel Partners Case Assignment
This is a group project and only one case report should be submitted
FIN 6425 Arundel Case Guidelines Nimalendran
In this case, a movie industry analyst is asked to evaluate a proposed venture in which a group of
partners would purchase the sequel rights to movies produced by the major studios. Your objective is
to 1) discuss and evaluate the basic concept; 2) determine the value of the sequel rights on a per movie
basis; 3) evaluate the possible upside and potential drawbacks to the proposed plan. As you will see,
the ideas here incorporate elements of capital budgeting coupled with a real options analysis.
Please provide answers to the following questions. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beyond this broad understanding, you shouldn t worry any more about how the specific numbers were
estimated but you should understand how to interpret them. For example for The Burbs, the numbers
in Exhibit 7 suggest that the value of the sequel at t=3 (using the suggested 12% discount rate) is :
NPV (at t=3) = $27.3/1.12 $24 = $0.375 million.
It follows that the NPV at t=0 can be found by discounting the above number three years at 12% doing
so you get a value of $0.2669 million which is an estimate of what you pay for the sequel right at t=0.
Looking at this in terms of an internal rate of return the one year return can be calculated as ($27.3/24)
1=.1375 or 13.75% (this number has been rounded up to .14 or 14% in Exhibit 7). Note that whenever
this IRR is above 12%, the sequel will be positive NPV.
5. Assume that a maximum of ten sequels can be made in any given year (choose the sequels that are
most likely to be made for example if the main character in the film dies then a sequel is unlikely to be
made) Using the same decision tree approach, what would you estimate to be the per movie value of
the sequel rights to the entire portfolio of 99 movies released in 1989 by the six major studios?
6. Using the Black Scholes approach, calculate the per movie value of the sequel rights to the entire

The Duel Essay
In reviewing John Lukacs, The Duel, I noticed that the author has other intentions in mind besides the
facts. Lukacs gives a very precise account of the actualy events during those eighty days but in my
opinion he wants the reader to grab the bigger concepts. One of these concepts is that Lukacs wants
the reader to honestly consider just how close the Allies came to losing the war. Another of these
notions is the idea that the main difference between Churchill and Hitler concerned nationalism versus
patriotism and a third idea is just how greatly history can be effected by the courageous decisions of a
few people.Lukacs makes strong mention of how close Hitler came to victory.
Hitler got everything he wanted for so long, without even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can all understand this, especially when looking back at the horror of WWII. Hitler abused the
idea of nationalism and thet is why the author made sure not to leave this footnote out of his book.
Hitler got the german people to follow him under this demented idea that Germany should be
considered better than everybody else, and yet it is astonishing that nobody seemed to noticed that
Hitler was not even a German. Lukacs wants the reader to raise these questions to themselves so they
can see how unique this entire situation was.
The idea that the entire course of history is changed by the decisions of a few people is a very
important notion in the book. The hesitance of Hitler in early July is especially important and vital to
the outcome of the war. Lukacs depicts the two men differently then one would expect. In this
evaluation, Hitler does not want to attack Britain. He wants them to simply make peace, of course on
his terms.
He was not sure if England would go for this, and if they did not, he knew that the time had come to
force them to do so. He could not shake Churchill, no matter how many other leaders crumbled. Hitler
s generals wanted to use force, but Hitler remained reluctant. The author effectively exhibits Hitler s
hesitance. He makes the evil man seem human saying that Hitler wanted to make a peace proposal on
a great and generous scale. (159). However, it

Essay On Septic System
The main objective of this proposed research is to study the magnitude and causes of septic system
failure in rural Black Belt region of Alabama and its impact on the socioeconomic and public health
conditions of the local community. A lack of septic system in rural Alabama is a complex mix of
environmental, human right, environmental justice, health, sanitation and geospatial problems. A multi
method and interdisciplinary approach involving geospatial, environmental engineering, water quality
and spatial demographic methods will be used in the study to analyze this complex issue.
Although, a lack of sanitation and waste disposal system and its impacts on public health is very
common in lesser developed countries, this problem is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Local stakeholders indicated that poorer counties of the so called Black Belt of Alabama, with higher
rural poverty rates and soils unsuited to the operation of conventional septic systems would have much
greater than 15% straight pipe. Therefore, two nearby counties, Hale and Wilcox counties, with high
rates of poverty (26.6% and 39.2%, respectively) and poor soils were chosen. The study uses two
main methods (1) site by site inspections of a random sample of unsewered rural communities and (2)
water sample collection from and analysis from impacted streams.
Preliminary data indicate staggering rates of straight pipe discharge and substantial impacts of water
quality in local streams and tributaries. In Wilcox County, approximately 60% of surveyed unsewered
households had a visible straight pipe surface discharge of raw wastewater and only 7% of households
had a permitted onsite wastewater treatment system. For the remaining 33% inspection could not
determine whether the discharge was above or below ground but there was no evidence of a septic
system drainfield or a mound system (often this indicates that a straight pipe is well buried and
discharges to an overgrown area). Conservatively, these straight pipes discharge 500,000 gallons of
raw sewage to the ground in Wilcox County every day.
Similarly, Lowndes County, Alabama is one of the Black Belt counties with

Simba And Hamlet Comparison Essay
Through analyzing the movies Hamlet and The Lion King, it is clear that the resemblance and
differences between the two characters Hamlet and Simba and the storyline itself are very noticeable.
The main similarities taken away from the movie is the similarities between these two princes that is
widely talked about is the characters friendships and the death of both of their fathers. The deaths of
their fathers made them try and forget and redeem their deaths. A difference between these two movies
is the contrast between how Simba and Hamlet are perceived to their family and the public.

problems in life. Simba establishes a deep friendship with the ever ... Show more content on

Shortly after, the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMNL) formed to oppose the
government forces. Once the FMNL launch a full scale attack on the El Salvador government, the
United States responded by giving the government military aid. In effect, the Rapid Deployment
Infantry Battalions formed and were responsible for most of the war crimes. On November 16, 1989
the Rapid Deployment Brigade murdered eight Jesuits on the University of Central America s campus,
six of them prominent Jesuit priests. This event gained international attention and got the United
Nations involved with the situation. Slowly the civil war came to an end and FMNL demobilized their
forces. Now ARENA and FMNL are parties of opposition and have continued their war through
political means instead of violence (El Salvador). El Salvador has suffered a lot of violence and unrest.
For these reasons, combined with a current difficult economy, Salvadorians have sought refuge in the
United States. Felix, a native Salvadorian, came to the United States in 1989 when he was 25 years
old. I met Felix at Gloria s Pupuseria while researching the Salvadorian community and savoring

Issue Relating to Violence Abuse Against Women and...
Issue relating to violence abuse against women and children within family
The issue that I am exploring
As increasing number of women are gaining more rights globally as well as their economic power.
However, domestic violence, especially violence against both women and children from associated
partner remaining a broad issue that need to be addressed. Public health studies indicated that a large
number of people have the experience of witnessing varies degree of violence within the family. I
believe that when speaking of family violence, there is a picture that comes out of our mind. It usually
started with a quarrel between the parents, the husband and wife had some sort of disagreement, and
the man gradually lost his patience and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most extreme case would be murdering. WHO reported that 38% of murdering of women is
conducted by intimate partners. Other than the case above, other significant damages would be
disability, functional disorder, delusional disorder, despondent, etc. The general feelings of victims
would be fear, depression, avoidance, suspicious, and the duration of those emotions would depend on
the degree or means of the violence conduction, the victim s education background, their social status
and numbers of other factors.
Not only women and children, men can be victims as well. But their experiences during violence are
different. Men tend to bury their thoughts deep in the heart; it means they would rather be silent than
speak out. Most likely men are mental victims in violence compared to women. Overall, speaking of
the size, women and children are still the main victim in terms of domestic violence.
Discussion over the issue
To understand the origin of domestic violence, the first thing I think is to identify universal factors
causing violence. According to the research, four major concerns are listed as below: economic living
conditions, traditional gender attitudes towards women, authoritarian parenting, and a general
tolerance of violent behavior in a given society. The research found that in rural area with relatively
low economic condition, women tend to have larger exposure to

The Matthew Effect Rhetorical Analysis
Wayne Gretzky skates down the ice with the puck, he fakes a shot, the goalie falls for it, Gretzky
shoots, he scores! This is a common occurrence for Wayne Gretzky, a former NHL player who holds
the record for most career regular season goals (894), assists (1,963), points (2,857), and hat tricks
(50). Most people would say Gretzky s success all stems from his innate talent, but in The Matthew
Effect, Gladwell argues that innate talent is not the only reason for success. He reveals there s a much
more surprising reason. In Gladwell s chapter, The Matthew Effect, the controversial writer expertly
asks rhetorical questions and uses charts and statistics to defend his claim that a person s date of birth
has a significant influence on their athletic and academic success. The rhetorical question is a simple

Without these two strategies, Gladwell would have failed to draw attention and transition from section
to section, or build up to and eventually defend his claim with any undeniable facts. Statistics and
rhetorical questions do not only apply to arguments about success, but they are also rhetorical
mediums that can be and are used in a variety of ways. Rhetorical questions can be seen on posters, in
ads, and in any strong paper. How s that for applicability? Statistics are most commonly found in
visual advertisements and websites. They use evidence that cannot be discredited to credit any
possible argument. The reason these two strategies work so well together is that questioning adheres to
the visceral and emotional side of an audience, while cold, hard numbers build credibility and respect
to logic and reasoning. This results in a powerful one two punch that left many Gladwell readers
wondering if they missed the chance to be great because of something as simple as a set of numbers

Commander. He played a major role in utilizing all principles of mission command. The five roles I

Cruelty, Neglect, And Neglect Of A Pet
Growing up, most kids wanted a pet. They wanted a dog, cat, fish, lizard, hamster, or even a bird.
Many parents saw this as a way to help teach their children responsibility. However, some parents
failed to teach their child how to treat and take care of their pet. Due to the lack of knowledge of how
to properly take care of and treat a pet, many pets have ended up abused and, in worst cases, dead.
Most people think that dog abuse is just beating their dog or putting them in a dog fight. Indiana has
laws against abandonment, neglect, and physical abuse of dogs, but some owners need to realize that
these laws are being broken by acts of unintentional abuse and since most acts of abuse are
unintentional there needs to be a way to educate people.
Another name for unintentional abuse is neglect. It results from a lack of knowledge of how to
properly train and take care of a pet. Some examples of unintentional abuse are: cruel shelter
environment, lack of food and or water, lack of veterinary care, depriving them of attention and love,
and a lack of recreational stimuli. Unfortunately, many of these people don t know that what they are
doing is cruel. For example, some may keep a dog in their yard with a doghouse that is on the ground
and gets flooded with water when it rains, or they keep their dog on a short chain all of the time
without realizing that the dog needs better shelter ( Information on Animal , n.d.). It seems that some
people abuse their pet because they

chronic diseases present and nursing procedures administered in school) could be a question.
Hypothesis/Hypotheses Since the steady increase of students with chronic illnesses in public schools,
there has been an increase in the roles and responsibilities of school nurses (Krause Parello amp;
Kimika, 2010). This study looks to build upon other studies, but as well, it does look to prove this.
Study Variables The independent variables in this study are the nurses. With the study design being
non experimental, however, no manipulation takes place. The research is only being replicated exactly
as it was and so we would not expect to see any dependent study variables (Burns amp; Grove, 2011).
Conceptual Model/Theoretical Framework Betty Neuman s conceptual model of nursing is concerned
with the person as a whole and stresses prevention. She brought us primary, secondary, and tertiary
prevention (Nursing Theories, 2011). It is noted through the study of the health promotion/disease
prevention activities that the schools of New Jersey are required to have a wellness plan and that the
nurses agree to the importance of prevention of disease by early health screening (Krause Parello amp;
Kimika, 2010).
Review of Related Literature Through the literature review, it became apparent that over the past few
years the roles and responsibilities of nurses has increased even further; this study sought to bring that
research current and encourage school nurses

Watership Down Analysis
The book Watership Down by Richard Adams, is a story that was once told to his children and has
been put into a novel. The book shows us the ups and downs during a journey of many rabbits. These
rabbits talk in their own language and embark on a crazy journey to a new land. Sandleford is the
current home of the rabbits and their journey will take them to Cowslips Warren, there part time home.
We will focus on life in Sandleford, the life in Cowslips Warren and the individual rabbits who chose
to go on this journey together. The location of the Sandleford Warren is a grass field in England. The
current location of of warren is on top of a location that a housing development. The type of

The Sandleford Warren is ran by the powerful and the poor members of society aren t treated as well.
The general moral of the rabbits is that they are all satisfied with the living conditions except for Fiver.

Breast Calcification Research Paper
By Jonas Wilson, Ing. Med.
Diagnosing calcification
In addition to routine blood and biochemical tests to check for underlying factors such as
hypovitaminosis K, hypervitaminosis D or hypercalcemia, X rays (e.g. for the breasts) and CT scans
(e.g. for the brain) may be used to detect calcifying deposits. The two types of breasts calcifications,
macro and micro calcifications look like large randomly dispersed dots and white specks on the
mammogram (breast X ray), respectively. Breast calcification tissue may be removed and biopsied in
order to rule out more serious pathologies such as cancer.
Arterial calcifications, for example in the coronary arteries, may be detected in vivo (in a living
person) by methods such as electron beam computed tomography (EBCT) coronary arteriography,

Cases of hypercalcemia can be further broken down into those that are PTH dependent and PTH
independent (parathyroid hormone). PTH is usually elevated in physiological conditions when there is
a drop of calcium in the blood and then returns to baseline once it corrects the problem. This is not the
case however in hyperparathyroidism. Furthermore, PTH related peptide (PTHrP), which is capable of
acting on PTH receptors is abnormally elevated in certain cancers such cancers of the genitourinary

Summary Of Toni The Superhero
Toni The Superhero by R.D. Base, Illustrated by Debbie Hefke Review by Kit Lago When you pick
up this book you will follow young Toni through his day, and all of the activities that he likes to do,
both on his own as a young boy, with his friends, with his mother, or as a superhero from mundane to
adventurous! Through clear illustrations you see each of Toni s favorite activities, each one something
he enjoys. Created for small children who have yet learned to read, the text is quite simple and easy
for little ones to follow, and the illustrations are concise and clear, if a little untidy. It s a simple and
quick read for a nice afternoon cuddle on the couch with your child, considering how short the
attention span of toddlers is, it s perfectly paced for them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a digital artist myself I immediately noticed what would normally be considered sloppy
illustrations. But on retrospect I realized that s not at all the case. Young ones easily recognize simple
drawings, much like what they are trying to mimic and create on their own, and it s exactly drawn for
their level. I read the book through twice myself, then brought my toddler over to read it with me. Not
only was he able to immediately recognize many of the images, he seemed quite engaged and excited
by them. He even recognized a few items in the pictures before I pointed them out, clearly they re

Celie s Sexuality In Alice Walker
her sexuality. In an effort to express her emotions, Celie begins to write letters to God at a young age.
Celie does not realize until later in the novel that the God that she addresses in the beginning is
identified with men from the start. McDowell explains to readers how Celie assumes that God does
not listen to her because she is a poor black woman, and he is a man. She does not have an experience
with men being good for her in the past, so she does not have a reason to expect the same from God
(167). For most of the novel, Celie writes with restraint because she perceives the higher power as
masculine like many of the men she knows who have persecuted her. However, there is a redeeming

She is called Squeak because of her petite figure and her quiet speech. However like Celie, Squeak
learns through the woman around her that she is also a woman who can be independent. Celie tells
Squeak that she needs to tell Harpo to call her by her real name. Otherwise, he will never respect her.
She does precisely this. She tells Harpo while they and the other characters are eating dinner that she
will be called by her real name from this point forward, Mary Agnes (Walker 95 97). Squeak and
Mary Agnes are completely different characters. While Squeak is a woman who allows her partner to
disregard her and is content with being forgotten, Mary Agnes is a woman who knows her worth and
demands to be treated with respect. Because of Shug s influence, Mary leaves her partner by the end
of the novel so that she can do what she loves the most; sing and perform for other people around the
world (Walker 210). By the end of the novel, Celie is happy. At this time, she is a successful
entrepreneur, happily living with her current partner, Albert, and lives in a restored version of her
childhood home. When Celie begins writing to Nettie, confiding in Sofia, growing alongside Squeak,
and being motivated by Shug, she completely changes as a character and finds herself through each of

The Cractus Bene Moriendi And The Ars Morendi
Its has been demonstrated that the term poor can be employed to refer to a wide socioeconomic group
in the Middle Ages. What is left to examine is why and how this group aided the souls of the dead in
the afterlife. Every good Christian, according to scripture, had a duty to care for the needy. From
Matthew s Parable of the Separation of Sheep and Goats to Daniel s warning to Nebuchadnezzar to
break off his sins by showing mercy to the oppressed, Christians were constantly reminded of their
civic duty. But the spiritual necessity of acting on this charitable obligation came into sharp focus
around the eleventh and twelfth centuries with the introduction and development of Purgatory. Aside
from Saints, who were promised direct entry to heaven, every Christian soul was destined to spend

Anderson s notion that charity was a means by which one could accrue spiritual merit is evident in
medieval mortuary tracts. The Tractus Bene Moriendi and the Ars Moriendi, which served as
handbooks for the dying man, offered practical solutions to concerns about Purgatory by outlining the
crafe to lyue well and dye well. A considerable portion of both texts is dedicated to projecting the
importance of charity as the queen of all virtues, with which no one can perish, without which no one
can live, either in this life or the next. By employing a culmination of parables and Augustinian
rhetoric, these handbooks reinforced the relationship between alms deeds and the emancipation of the
soul. The various vernacular translations and wide distribution of these works suggest that lay readers
were aware of the spiritual significance of their philanthropy and what it meant for the afterlife. By
helping the needy, testators were not loosing their riches, but sending their wealth to heaven via the

Blakeslee said. Philanthropy, my children, you know. I m not intrigued by cash, I was recently

I defiantly agree with the verdict, because I don t think it was right for the project manager to fire
Blakeslee for reporting wrongdoing. It doesn t matter who was doing wrong, it s was Blakeslee

They gave her something for anxiety and restrained her to the hospital bed because she kept getting
out of her bed to throw up. She died in that hospital due to infection in the abdomen and was portrayed
as a drunken Indian so did not get the medical help she needed for her gun shot wound (Peters, H.
Sels, B., 2005). This is a clear example of the meaning of the drunken Indian stereotype.
How the Stereotype Effects the Health and Well being of Children
I believe that having the drunk Indian stereotype will greatly affect children, families and
communities. For a child growing up in a community with the belief in the stereotype that all first
nation people are drunken Indians would cause that child to have low self esteem. If these children
were teased at school by their non aboriginal peers this would have a negative effect on the child as
well. These children who already have low self esteem could turn to alcohol and drugs as a way of
coping with the feelings they have about themselves.
Parents of these children who have survived the residential schools don t know how to cope with
everything they have lost and everything they have been through. They have turned to alcohol to mask
their emotions. Over time as these children were taken away from their homes and put into residential
schools they were losing the chance to parent their children. All they know is

The American Culture And Values
Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of
communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance
from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met
in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by
Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of
Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives,
treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to
criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media
in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010). A method of universal programing, by
which centralized, censored content is broadcast in synchronous to an audience discriminant only by
which of the four major networks they choose to view is the portrayal of television afforded by the
characters aimed to garner the most sympathy in Network. The voices of reason and morality in the
film, older folks seen as untainted by television and corporate greed condemn television for replacing
genuine human interaction with hollow facades of conformity and pre scripted emotions. While
concerns over lacking human connection and false human emotions remain, social media has

president of the National Aeronautic Association, which authorized the official records and races
(Cochrane and Ramirez). Having been a licensed pilot for a mere 5 years, this is quite impressive. The
following year, she took place in an airplane race dubbed the Powder Puff Derby. Amelia Earhart
came in 3rd during this race. This race was dangerous, and open for women only. Many people died,
but those who didn t later became some of the female pilots to make up the Ninety Nines. Amelia

this wasn t the first time that she had crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The first time was in 1928, but she

Who Is The Parson In The Canterbury Tales
The Parson of Chaucer s Canterbury Tales In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, the author reveals the true
motives of the Parson, a man overcome with godly love. Though Chaucer usually makes even the
most evil of souls seem decent, he makes certain there is no other way to describe this person except
as lawful and honest. The Parson sets a good Christian example in his character as a whole. Initially,
Chaucer describes the Parson as a holy minded man of good renown (487), a statement that may bring
to mind other characters who seem good, but are truly evil at their core. Though this may seem a
likely case in the first few lines of the Parson s introduction, instead he is found to be a man who lacks
money, but makes up for it in his godliness (489). He is lowly of service and instead of moving to
London to make an easier living (517), the Parson prefers to remain in his village and watch over his
fold (520) because he views the townspeople as his sheep and himself as the shepherd. ... Show more

The Characteristics Of Ronald Reagan
World leaders have immense power. Some use that power for good; others use it for evil. Whether
they are looked upon fondly or not, world leaders are still loved by many people. They can inspire
good character, good morals, and responsibility. The best example of this is how people view the
United States presidents. Some of the former presidents are considered heroes, and even depicted to be
on the same level as gods. These people have been so highly praised, that saying anything bad about
them is looked down upon. There are statues and monuments dedicated to presidents such aslike
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy, and
so on. This illustrates the fact thatThe point is, former US presidents are held in high regard. One of
these presidents held to this high standard was the US president throughout most of the 1980s. His
name was Ronald Reagan. Reagan He went from being a typecasted, Good Guy actor, to politician, to
becoming President of the United States of America. Ronald Reagan s background as a performer
contributed directly to his effectiveness as a politician.
One of the character traits that Ronald Reagan embodied was good public speaking. He was able to
convince people that he was on their side and that he was there to resolve improve the problems in the
American government. During his inaugural speech in 1981, he said, government is not a solution to

Alternative Methods Of The NIPG DGFEM Superconvergence
subsection{NIPG DGFEM Superconvergence 2011}
Now that the continuous standard Galerkin solution over a quasi uniform mesh may oscillate as
$epsilon to 0$. An alternative tool will be a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method where the
oscillation can be avoided provided that an appropriate mesh refinement is applied, to capture the
boundary layer behavior. The origins of the DG methods can be traced back to the seventies where
they had been proposed as variational methods for numerically solving initial value problems and
transport problems. It is well known that the DG methods, in particular the local DG (LDG) method
cite{210}, are highly stable and effective for convection diffusion problems cite{211}. Whereas, the

cite{212,213} and Zhang et al. cite{214} adopted the local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) method to
solve convection diffusion equations and analyzed the corresponding superconvergence properties. On
the other hand, non symmetric discontinuous Galerkin method with interior penalty (the NIPG
method), originally designed for elliptic equations, is analyzed by Zarin and Roos cite{87} for
convection diffusion problems with parabolic layers.
A disadvantage of DG method is that the method produces more degrees of freedom than the
continuous finite element method (CFEM). With this motivation, this work derives and analyzes a
coupled approach of LDG and CFEM on a layer adapted Shishkin mesh for singularly perturbed
convection diffusion problems. By splitting the domain into the coarse and the fine part, we adopt the
CFEM with linear elements in the fine part where the mesh size is comparable with $epsilon$, and
use LDG method in the coarse part for its stabilization.
The idea of combining DG and CFEM to obtain the advantages of both methods is not new. A coupled
LDG CFEM approach has also been studied by Perugia and Sch{ o}tzau cite{215} for the modeling
of elliptic problems arising in electromagnetics. Roos and Zarin cite{79}, Zarin cite{82} analyzed
the NIPG CFEM coupled method on Shishkin mesh for two dimensional convection diffusion
problems with exponentially layers or characteristic layers. In cite{209}, Zhu et

The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art
The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each
culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In ancient
Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art, people
were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very human and emotional. The way humans
have been depicted through sculpture and the reasons behind these canons have evolved and changed
over time.
The earliest examples of the human form in sculpture can be found in the Paleolithic era. While in the
Paleolithic era humans were rarely depicted in paintings, they were commonly depicted through
sculpture in small figurines. The majority of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike artwork from previous cultures and periods, Hellenistic sculpture was filled with drama. Many
works seem chaotic due to the amount of movement and action happening in them. There were also
pieces that were, while not chaotic, filled with extreme emotion. This can be seen in the sculpture
Dying Gaul , one piece of a larger group of sculptures (see fig. 7). A man is depicted in what is most
likely his last moment of life. He is a Gaul, the losers of a battle with the Greeks, and yet, he is shown
as human with strong emotions. His face is filled with the pain and sadness of knowing that he is
dying with a furrowed brow (see fig. 8). It is a strangely detailed and emotional death to give to one s
enemy. It shows a possible respect for their enemies and an understanding that they are human and
feel pain and have emotions as well. Much like previous Greek works of art, the muscles are well
defined and highly realistic. Yet, unlike Riace Warriors where the figures were just standing in a
relaxed and calm way, this figure is trying to hold himself up, and the realistic muscles make it easy to
see that this figure is using all of his strength to keep from collapsing. While it could be considered
overly dramatic, the way extreme emotion is used in this piece makes the audience feel the pain and
sorrow of the person in front of them even though he was the

rough exoskeleton and usually in dark grey colour. They have 7 pairs of legs, each pair is attached to
the underneath of each thorax segment. Their body consists into three sections: head, thorax and
abdomen, these are often fused together so that it is difficult to be sure where each section starts or

Count Of Monte Cristo Revenge Quotes
Did the Count of Monte Cristo get complete revenge? Edmond Dantés was framed and put in jail for
14 years. He later found out that Fernand, Danglars, and Caderousse were behind it. Villefort was also
an accomplice. He vowed vengeance and he spent most of his life leading up to that revenge. When he
finally gets his revenge he is confused on why he does not feel all that accomplished. Edmond Dantés
did get complete revenge because he believes he has gotten revenge, he lived well, and because his
actions fit the definition of revenge. First, Edmond believes he has gotten revenge. He tells Mercedes
that, God brought me back from the living dead to punish them! And I will have my revenge! so he
believes that he is carrying out justice (Dumas, page 377). After his revenge is carried out he is
confused about why he feels guilty and why he does not feel fulfilled. He starts to wonder if he has
done wrong because of his revenge. Then when Haydee confesses her love for him he exclaims, God,
who raised me up against my enemies and made me victorious, didn t want me to have this penance at
the end of my victory. I wanted to punish myself, but God wishes to forgive me! (Dumas page 529).

  • 2. The Theme Of Madness In Shakespeare, By William Shakespeare Madness can be defined as the state of mental delusion/ mentally ill or showing extremely foolish/eccentric behavior which begins with anger. The incorporation of madness in literature has been a long standing tradition and can be encountered in these three works: King Lear by William Shakespeare where he tells the story about King Lear whose madness has been promoted by his two daughters, Regan and Goneril, Daddy by Sylvia Plath, where she reveals her anguish at her father s death, she also discloses an eccentric behavior of attempting a suicide, and Medea by Euripides, where we can encounter madness through the actions of Medea after being spurned by her husband Jason. Insanity occupies a central place in these pieces of literature and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King Lear slowly starts to descend in the complexity of insanity and his first sign of madness can be seen through this quote ...Look look, a mouse! Peace, peace; this piece of toasted cheese will do it...OH, well flown, bird! (Act IV.6. 88 91). Over time, he starts to realize that he made himself fall into this trap and Regan and Goneril are the reason for his madness and lastly, he learns to conquer his madness; however, it leads to a misfortune. On the other hand, Edgar, the son of Gloucester pretends to be a madman and decides to live the life of a beggar due to Edmund evil intentions (Act 3, Scene 4). In this scenario, Edgar is able to save and live his life better even if the world considers him insane. Edgar as a character symbolizes madness the most in King Lear. His loss of identity as a noble can be seen as a form of madness. Obsession is a form of insanity that can be discovered in Daddy by Sylvia Plath where the author shows hatred towards her own obsession with her dead father. With the use of literary devices, she expresses her emotion towards the male figures in her life causes of her insanity. Plath faces rejection from the society and from her family which leads to her insanity. An example of her cutting off from the society can be seen in lines 69 70, The black telephone s off at the root, The voices just can t work through. Due to her obsession towards her father, she tried to commit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Canadian Rebellions List some of the impacts of the rebellions of Upper and Lower Canada There are many lasting impacts of the rebellions of Upper and Lower Canada that are even present today 200 years later. First is that Canada has a democratic government. During the rebellions, Canadians could elect representatives but the representatives had very little power. The government didn t care about the thoughts of the common person. Today the people cast votes for the Prime Minister instead of it already being decided by a counsel of rich people. He cares about people s opinions and tries to appeal to them to win office. Another way Canada has been influenced is we are one country and are multicultural. Back in 1837 Canada was divided into two parts the French speaking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay Arundel Partners Guidelines Guidelines for the Arundel Partners Case Assignment This is a group project and only one case report should be submitted FIN 6425 Arundel Case Guidelines Nimalendran In this case, a movie industry analyst is asked to evaluate a proposed venture in which a group of partners would purchase the sequel rights to movies produced by the major studios. Your objective is to 1) discuss and evaluate the basic concept; 2) determine the value of the sequel rights on a per movie basis; 3) evaluate the possible upside and potential drawbacks to the proposed plan. As you will see, the ideas here incorporate elements of capital budgeting coupled with a real options analysis. Please provide answers to the following questions. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beyond this broad understanding, you shouldn t worry any more about how the specific numbers were estimated but you should understand how to interpret them. For example for The Burbs, the numbers in Exhibit 7 suggest that the value of the sequel at t=3 (using the suggested 12% discount rate) is : NPV (at t=3) = $27.3/1.12 $24 = $0.375 million. It follows that the NPV at t=0 can be found by discounting the above number three years at 12% doing so you get a value of $0.2669 million which is an estimate of what you pay for the sequel right at t=0. Looking at this in terms of an internal rate of return the one year return can be calculated as ($27.3/24) 1=.1375 or 13.75% (this number has been rounded up to .14 or 14% in Exhibit 7). Note that whenever this IRR is above 12%, the sequel will be positive NPV. 5. Assume that a maximum of ten sequels can be made in any given year (choose the sequels that are most likely to be made for example if the main character in the film dies then a sequel is unlikely to be made) Using the same decision tree approach, what would you estimate to be the per movie value of the sequel rights to the entire portfolio of 99 movies released in 1989 by the six major studios? 6. Using the Black Scholes approach, calculate the per movie value of the sequel rights to the entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Duel Essay In reviewing John Lukacs, The Duel, I noticed that the author has other intentions in mind besides the facts. Lukacs gives a very precise account of the actualy events during those eighty days but in my opinion he wants the reader to grab the bigger concepts. One of these concepts is that Lukacs wants the reader to honestly consider just how close the Allies came to losing the war. Another of these notions is the idea that the main difference between Churchill and Hitler concerned nationalism versus patriotism and a third idea is just how greatly history can be effected by the courageous decisions of a few people.Lukacs makes strong mention of how close Hitler came to victory. Hitler got everything he wanted for so long, without even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can all understand this, especially when looking back at the horror of WWII. Hitler abused the idea of nationalism and thet is why the author made sure not to leave this footnote out of his book. Hitler got the german people to follow him under this demented idea that Germany should be considered better than everybody else, and yet it is astonishing that nobody seemed to noticed that Hitler was not even a German. Lukacs wants the reader to raise these questions to themselves so they can see how unique this entire situation was. The idea that the entire course of history is changed by the decisions of a few people is a very important notion in the book. The hesitance of Hitler in early July is especially important and vital to the outcome of the war. Lukacs depicts the two men differently then one would expect. In this evaluation, Hitler does not want to attack Britain. He wants them to simply make peace, of course on his terms. He was not sure if England would go for this, and if they did not, he knew that the time had come to force them to do so. He could not shake Churchill, no matter how many other leaders crumbled. Hitler s generals wanted to use force, but Hitler remained reluctant. The author effectively exhibits Hitler s hesitance. He makes the evil man seem human saying that Hitler wanted to make a peace proposal on a great and generous scale. (159). However, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On Septic System The main objective of this proposed research is to study the magnitude and causes of septic system failure in rural Black Belt region of Alabama and its impact on the socioeconomic and public health conditions of the local community. A lack of septic system in rural Alabama is a complex mix of environmental, human right, environmental justice, health, sanitation and geospatial problems. A multi method and interdisciplinary approach involving geospatial, environmental engineering, water quality and spatial demographic methods will be used in the study to analyze this complex issue. Although, a lack of sanitation and waste disposal system and its impacts on public health is very common in lesser developed countries, this problem is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Local stakeholders indicated that poorer counties of the so called Black Belt of Alabama, with higher rural poverty rates and soils unsuited to the operation of conventional septic systems would have much greater than 15% straight pipe. Therefore, two nearby counties, Hale and Wilcox counties, with high rates of poverty (26.6% and 39.2%, respectively) and poor soils were chosen. The study uses two main methods (1) site by site inspections of a random sample of unsewered rural communities and (2) water sample collection from and analysis from impacted streams. Preliminary data indicate staggering rates of straight pipe discharge and substantial impacts of water quality in local streams and tributaries. In Wilcox County, approximately 60% of surveyed unsewered households had a visible straight pipe surface discharge of raw wastewater and only 7% of households had a permitted onsite wastewater treatment system. For the remaining 33% inspection could not determine whether the discharge was above or below ground but there was no evidence of a septic system drainfield or a mound system (often this indicates that a straight pipe is well buried and discharges to an overgrown area). Conservatively, these straight pipes discharge 500,000 gallons of raw sewage to the ground in Wilcox County every day. Similarly, Lowndes County, Alabama is one of the Black Belt counties with ... • 8. Simba And Hamlet Comparison Essay Through analyzing the movies Hamlet and The Lion King, it is clear that the resemblance and differences between the two characters Hamlet and Simba and the storyline itself are very noticeable. The main similarities taken away from the movie is the similarities between these two princes that is widely talked about is the characters friendships and the death of both of their fathers. The deaths of their fathers made them try and forget and redeem their deaths. A difference between these two movies is the contrast between how Simba and Hamlet are perceived to their family and the public. To begin with, Hamlet and Simba both had very close male friendships that helped them through their problems in life. Simba establishes a deep friendship with the ever ... The faint roar of an overly dramatic Latino soap opera could be heard over the Spanish conversations. Shortly after, the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMNL) formed to oppose the government forces. Once the FMNL launch a full scale attack on the El Salvador government, the United States responded by giving the government military aid. In effect, the Rapid Deployment Infantry Battalions formed and were responsible for most of the war crimes. On November 16, 1989 the Rapid Deployment Brigade murdered eight Jesuits on the University of Central America s campus, six of them prominent Jesuit priests. This event gained international attention and got the United Nations involved with the situation. Slowly the civil war came to an end and FMNL demobilized their forces. Not only women and children, men can be victims as well. But their experiences during violence are different. Men tend to bury their thoughts deep in the heart; it means they would rather be silent than speak out. Most likely men are mental victims in violence compared to women. Overall, speaking of the size, women and children are still the main victim in terms of domestic violence. Discussion over the issue To understand the origin of domestic violence, the first thing I think is to identify universal factors causing violence. According to the research, four major concerns are listed as below: economic living conditions, traditional gender attitudes towards women, authoritarian parenting, and a general tolerance of violent behavior in a given society. This is a common occurrence for Wayne Gretzky, a former NHL player who holds the record for most career regular season goals (894), assists (1,963), points (2,857), and hat tricks (50). Most people would say Gretzky s success all stems from his innate talent, but in The Matthew Effect, Gladwell argues that innate talent is not the only reason for success. He reveals there s a much more surprising reason. Rhetorical questions can be seen on posters, in ads, and in any strong paper. How s that for applicability? Statistics are most commonly found in visual advertisements and websites. They use evidence that cannot be discredited to credit any possible argument. The reason these two strategies work so well together is that questioning adheres to the visceral and emotional side of an audience, while cold, hard numbers build credibility and respect to logic and reasoning. • 17. Cruelty, Neglect, And Neglect Of A Pet Growing up, most kids wanted a pet. They wanted a dog, cat, fish, lizard, hamster, or even a bird. Many parents saw this as a way to help teach their children responsibility. However, some parents failed to teach their child how to treat and take care of their pet. Due to the lack of knowledge of how to properly take care of and treat a pet, many pets have ended up abused and, in worst cases, dead. Most people think that dog abuse is just beating their dog or putting them in a dog fight. Indiana has laws against abandonment, neglect, and physical abuse of dogs, but some owners need to realize that these laws are being broken by acts of unintentional abuse and since most acts of abuse are unintentional there needs to be a way to educate people. Another name for unintentional abuse is neglect. It results from a lack of knowledge of how to properly train and take care of a pet. Some examples of unintentional abuse are: cruel shelter environment, lack of food and or water, lack of veterinary care, depriving them of attention and love, and a lack of recreational stimuli. Unfortunately, many of these people don t know that what they are doing is cruel. For example, some may keep a dog in their yard with a doghouse that is on the ground and gets flooded with water when it rains, or they keep their dog on a short chain all of the time without realizing that the dog needs better shelter ( Information on Animal , n.d.). This study looks to build upon other studies, but as well, it does look to prove this. Study Variables The independent variables in this study are the nurses. With the study design being non experimental, however, no manipulation takes place. Diagnosing calcification In addition to routine blood and biochemical tests to check for underlying factors such as hypovitaminosis K, hypervitaminosis D or hypercalcemia, X rays (e.g. for the breasts) and CT scans (e.g. for the brain) may be used to detect calcifying deposits. The two types of breasts calcifications, macro and micro calcifications look like large randomly dispersed dots and white specks on the mammogram (breast X ray), respectively. Breast calcification tissue may be removed and biopsied in order to rule out more serious pathologies such as cancer. Arterial calcifications, for example in the coronary arteries, may be detected in vivo (in a living person) by methods such as electron beam computed tomography (EBCT) coronary arteriography, plain film X rays, fluoroscopy, intravascular ultrasound, MRI and CT scan. EBCT and fluoroscopy are the most commonly used techniques in the blood vessel investigations, while CT scans are very sensitive for the detection as well as the localization of intracranial calcifications. Calcifications produce the appearance of high density material on CT scans and X rays. The American Culture And Values Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives, treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010). A method of universal programing, by which centralized, censored content is broadcast in synchronous to an audience discriminant only by which of the four major networks they choose to view is the portrayal of television afforded by the characters aimed to garner the most sympathy in Network. The voices of reason and morality in the film, older folks seen as untainted by television and corporate greed condemn television for replacing genuine human interaction with hollow facades of conformity and pre scripted emotions. • 30. An Essay About Amelia Earhart A pilot, lost over the Pacific Ocean, thousands of people searching for her. But the reason why so many people were searching for her is what is truly interesting. Amelia Earhart was one of the first female pilots in the world. Everyone knew about her from her many accomplishments and how they allowed her to travel the world. But there is much more to her than just being a pilot. To what extent did Amelia Earhart prove that women can do what a man can do through determination and dedication, as well as through her many feats, and encouraging gender equality? Amelia Earhart became a successful pilot through determination and dedication. Amelia wanted to become a pilot ever since she was young, when her father took her to an air show on Christmas, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her first feat was becoming a female pilot, which at the time was very difficult. She became the 16th woman in the world to receive a pilot s license in 1923 and the first woman to ever receive a pilot s license from the National Aeronautic Association of the USA (Wels 42). In 1928, Amelia became the vice president of the National Airways, Inc. ( Earhart, Amelia ). She also became the first woman vice president of the National Aeronautic Association, which authorized the official records and races (Cochrane and Ramirez). Having been a licensed pilot for a mere 5 years, this is quite impressive. The following year, she took place in an airplane race dubbed the Powder Puff Derby. Amelia Earhart came in 3rd during this race. This race was dangerous, and open for women only. Many people died, but those who didn t later became some of the female pilots to make up the Ninety Nines. Amelia became the head of this all female aviatrix club ( Earhart Amelia 1897 1937? ). Amelia Earhart was also the second person after Charles Lindbergh, and the first woman, to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1932, which is perhaps her most well known accomplishment ( Earhart Amelia 1897 1937? ). Though this wasn t the first time that she had crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The first time was in 1928, but she was merely only a log keeper on that flight (Yount). Amelia Earhart also had many lesser known feats. In 1935, she was the first pilot to fly solo, nonstop from Mexico City to Newark, NJ as well as fly to Honolulu from the US mainland ( Earhart, Amelia ). During that same year, Amelia became a flight instructor at the Purdue University Airport (Winters 166). Amelia Earhart also received multiple medals and trophies for her accomplishments. • 31. Who Is The Parson In The Canterbury Tales The Parson of Chaucer s Canterbury Tales In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, the author reveals the true motives of the Parson, a man overcome with godly love. Though Chaucer usually makes even the most evil of souls seem decent, he makes certain there is no other way to describe this person except as lawful and honest. The Parson sets a good Christian example in his character as a whole. Initially, Chaucer describes the Parson as a holy minded man of good renown (487), a statement that may bring to mind other characters who seem good, but are truly evil at their core. Though this may seem a likely case in the first few lines of the Parson s introduction, instead he is found to be a man who lacks money, but makes up for it in his godliness (489). He is lowly of service and instead of moving to London to make an easier living (517), the Parson prefers to remain in his village and watch over his fold (520) because he views the townspeople as his sheep and himself as the shepherd. ... • 32. Autobiography Of African Americans Introduction The Merriam Webster dictionary defines African American, as an American who has African and especially black African ancestry. Being born in the United States and being American I have always been classified as African American, because my skin was dark, my hair was tightly coiled and because my parents were black. As a black child growing up here believed I was African American because my parent were African. I knew Africa from the Lion King and National Geography. I knew of the music because it played on a loop in our Georgia home, when I was trying to watch Disney or Nickelodeon. I knew of the food, because I was made to eat it instead of McDonalds. So to me, Africa and Africans where distant, it belonged in the world of fairytales. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She asked if the name Fa is popular in America, like the name Awa is in Gambia, I said no, she was surprise that I did not know anyone with the same name as me. I explained to her that Fa was short for Fatou. With this revelation, Awa jumped up and hugged me and said that I was Gambia like her, just born in America. I was confused, I tried to explain that I was just American, and in America I was African American because my parents are from Gambia but not me. She went quiet for a minute and then she shook her head, and said that I did not understand, she asked if I spoke Wolof, I said yes, she asked if I liked the game Acara, I said yes, she asked what my favorite food was, I answered Benachin, and then she asked like Bisap (the hibiscus tea), I said yes. She conclude that since I answered yes to all her questions then I am Gambian too. What she said may not have seem much at the moment, but for the first time since arriving in Gambia, I felt like I belonged. From then on, the term African American meant something completely different to me. I embraced it fully, because to me it meant that I am African because I have lived and had significant life experiences in Africa. I understand and embody many African values, as well as the American values that I was born with. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Characteristics Of Ronald Reagan World leaders have immense power. Some use that power for good; others use it for evil. Whether they are looked upon fondly or not, world leaders are still loved by many people. They can inspire good character, good morals, and responsibility. The best example of this is how people view the United States presidents. Some of the former presidents are considered heroes, and even depicted to be on the same level as gods. These people have been so highly praised, that saying anything bad about them is looked down upon. There are statues and monuments dedicated to presidents such aslike George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy, and so on. This illustrates the fact thatThe point is, former US presidents are held in high regard. One of these presidents held to this high standard was the US president throughout most of the 1980s. His name was Ronald Reagan. Reagan He went from being a typecasted, Good Guy actor, to politician, to becoming President of the United States of America. Ronald Reagan s background as a performer contributed directly to his effectiveness as a politician. One of the character traits that Ronald Reagan embodied was good public speaking. He was able to convince people that he was on their side and that he was there to resolve improve the problems in the American government. During his inaugural speech in 1981, he said, government is not a solution to our problems; government is the problem. In the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Alternative Methods Of The NIPG DGFEM Superconvergence subsection{NIPG DGFEM Superconvergence 2011} Now that the continuous standard Galerkin solution over a quasi uniform mesh may oscillate as $epsilon to 0$. An alternative tool will be a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method where the oscillation can be avoided provided that an appropriate mesh refinement is applied, to capture the boundary layer behavior. The origins of the DG methods can be traced back to the seventies where they had been proposed as variational methods for numerically solving initial value problems and transport problems. It is well known that the DG methods, in particular the local DG (LDG) method cite{210}, are highly stable and effective for convection diffusion problems cite{211}. Whereas, the main feature of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... cite{212,213} and Zhang et al. cite{214} adopted the local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) method to solve convection diffusion equations and analyzed the corresponding superconvergence properties. On the other hand, non symmetric discontinuous Galerkin method with interior penalty (the NIPG method), originally designed for elliptic equations, is analyzed by Zarin and Roos cite{87} for convection diffusion problems with parabolic layers. A disadvantage of DG method is that the method produces more degrees of freedom than the continuous finite element method (CFEM). With this motivation, this work derives and analyzes a coupled approach of LDG and CFEM on a layer adapted Shishkin mesh for singularly perturbed convection diffusion problems. By splitting the domain into the coarse and the fine part, we adopt the CFEM with linear elements in the fine part where the mesh size is comparable with $epsilon$, and use LDG method in the coarse part for its stabilization. The idea of combining DG and CFEM to obtain the advantages of both methods is not new. A coupled LDG CFEM approach has also been studied by Perugia and Sch{ o}tzau cite{215} for the modeling of elliptic problems arising in electromagnetics. Roos and Zarin cite{79}, Zarin cite{82} analyzed the NIPG CFEM coupled method on Shishkin mesh for two dimensional convection diffusion problems with exponentially layers or characteristic layers. • 36. The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In ancient Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art, people were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very human and emotional. The way humans have been depicted through sculpture and the reasons behind these canons have evolved and changed over time. The earliest examples of the human form in sculpture can be found in the Paleolithic era. While in the Paleolithic era humans were rarely depicted in paintings, they were commonly depicted through sculpture in small figurines. The majority of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike artwork from previous cultures and periods, Hellenistic sculpture was filled with drama. Many works seem chaotic due to the amount of movement and action happening in them. There were also pieces that were, while not chaotic, filled with extreme emotion. This can be seen in the sculpture Dying Gaul , one piece of a larger group of sculptures (see fig. 7). A man is depicted in what is most likely his last moment of life. He is a Gaul, the losers of a battle with the Greeks, and yet, he is shown as human with strong emotions. His face is filled with the pain and sadness of knowing that he is dying with a furrowed brow (see fig. 8). It is a strangely detailed and emotional death to give to one s enemy. It shows a possible respect for their enemies and an understanding that they are human and feel pain and have emotions as well. Much like previous Greek works of art, the muscles are well defined and highly realistic. Yet, unlike Riace Warriors where the figures were just standing in a relaxed and calm way, this figure is trying to hold himself up, and the realistic muscles make it easy to see that this figure is using all of his strength to keep from collapsing. While it could be considered overly dramatic, the way extreme emotion is used in this piece makes the audience feel the pain and sorrow of the person in front of them even though he was the ... Slaters Project Report on the distribution of slaters in different level of soil pH Introduction Slater (woodlouse), Biological name Porcellio scaber, is probably the most common species in New Zealand. They belong to the biological class Crustacea. Their size is about 17mm in length. They have rough exoskeleton and usually in dark grey colour. They have 7 pairs of legs, each pair is attached to the underneath of each thorax segment. Their body consists into three sections: head, thorax and abdomen, these are often fused together so that it is difficult to be sure where each section starts or ends. Most slaters can live for 2 4 years, although most die as juveniles. ➢ Habitat In New Zealand, slaters are common in spring and autumn as they prefer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He later found out that Fernand, Danglars, and Caderousse were behind it. Villefort was also an accomplice. He vowed vengeance and he spent most of his life leading up to that revenge. When he finally gets his revenge he is confused on why he does not feel all that accomplished. Edmond Dantés did get complete revenge because he believes he has gotten revenge, he lived well, and because his actions fit the definition of revenge. First, Edmond believes he has gotten revenge. He tells Mercedes that, God brought me back from the living dead to punish them! And I will have my revenge! so he believes that he is carrying out justice (Dumas, page 377). After his revenge is carried out he is confused about why he feels guilty and why he does not feel fulfilled. He starts to wonder if he has done wrong because of his revenge. Then when Haydee confesses her love for him he exclaims, God, who raised me up against my enemies and made me victorious, didn t want me to have this penance at the end of my victory. I wanted to punish myself, but God wishes to forgive me! (Dumas page 529). He believes that his revenge has been carried out and he is satisfied with it.
