Benefits Of Legacy Application Mobility
Legacy Application Mobility, is the Answer Surprisingly Simple?
The significant benefits of mobility were highlighted in a recent Microsoft paper. The paper went
further than most, stating some quantifiable bottom line benefits for mobile application access;
claiming that mobility leads to 30% improvement in processes and 23% more productivity and 100%
more satisfied employees . This enthusiasm and willingness to drive value for the business outside of
the typical work hours, or office location, can no longer be dismissed. So, what is stopping
organisations tapping into this extra productivity, and why are organisations that rely on legacy
applications, such as Mainframe, Unix, IBM i, Pick or even Multi Value systems finding it ... Show

They have previously been physically guarded, so the idea of making them available on an
unregulated mobile device can be especially jarring. It s important to remember though, that
organisations who choose not to enable employee mobility are not immune to this risk. The latest
Forrester State of Enterprise Mobile Security report, by Chris Sherman points out that employees are
going to continue to purchase and use whatever devices and apps they need to serve customers and be
highly productive, whether or not these devices are company sanctioned . Whether you embrace of
shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround. Is this a barrier
too high, or could there be a solution?
What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen, replica
of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app would work on all
devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been released yet. It would be as
secure and performant as the in house applications and you wouldn t have to develop it at all. It would
just work. That sounds wildly unrealistic and in some ways, it is. There is no app that will do all of
those things, apps by their nature are specifically developed for their destined OS; but apps are not a
requisite for mobility. They are often lumped together and assumed the same, but there is an
alternative route to mobility that allows you

Johnny Tremain Analysis
Johnny Tremain, by Esther Forbes is a book about a boy that lived before and during the
Revolutionary War. In this book, Johnny Tremain experienced many things as a boy, apprentice, a
silversmith, a messenger, and a revolutionary. While Johnny was getting older and time past by,
Johnny experienced love, changing, and betrayal in many ways. Johnny changes during the story, as
well as experience love and betrayal right in front of him. Although Johnny went through many
hardships, he was still able to overcome the obstacles that came to him. After reading Johnny Tremain,
Johnny never gave up, and people should never give up just because there is a barrier ahead of us.

The Lapham family betrayed Johnny, just because of Johnny s hand that was burned while making a
teapot for John Hancock. Before the incident, Mrs. Lapham use to treat Johnny very well, proper and
as a gifted person in her family. After the incident Mrs. Lapham called Johnny a useless person that is
only good for picking up rags and virtually told Johnny to get out of the house. Johnny was even
betrayed by his own family and the proof was a silver cup that the entire family knew about. After
leaving the Lapham family, being jobless, and starving Johnny decided to use his last resort, which
was the silver cup that was given to him by his mother. The entire family rejected Johnny when they
were in private, and in court without any sympathy, even though the Lyte family knew Johnny s case
about his dead mother. Jonathan Lyte, a very wealthy, successful, and popular merchant in Boston,
accused Johnny of stealing one of the cups that belong to Jonathan Lyte. Luckily during the case, Cilla
was there to support Johnny. According to Jonathan Lyte, someone stole one of his silver cups in
August, however Johnny Tremain had showed the silver cup to Cilla on July. That proves that Johnny
did not steal Jonathan Lytes silver cup and the silver cup belonged to Johnny Tremain. Johnny was
betrayed by his own family, which pretended that they never knew him. Close to the end when the
Lyte family were leaving Boston, going back London, Lavinia Lyte, Jonathan Lyte s daughter,
admitted that Johnny Tremain was part of their

Congenital Heart Defect
It is very important to note that congenital heart defects are among the most common birth defects
affecting more than 40,000 children a year. The defects can be very complex and life threatening or
relatively benign. Treatment is different for every cardiac defect and usually involves medicines,
surgeries, heart transplants, and mechanical ventilation. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is
characterized by hypoplasia of the left ventricle, aortic stenosis, hypoplasia of the ascending aorta, and
coarctation (narrowing) of the aorta. In normal conditions the left side of the heart receives
oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it into the systemic circulation. In patients with HLHS,
the left ventricle and the aorta are underdeveloped. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TOF involves four anatomical abnormalities of the heart: a large VSD, a stenotic pulmonary artery, an
overriding aorta, and right ventricular hypertrophy. The degree of cyanosis of TOF depends largely on
the size of the right to left shunt. Patients with left to right shunting may have little to no cyanosis and
are referred to as pink tetralogy. Patients with TOF may experience episodes of extreme cyanosis
called tet spells often during times of stress such as crying, dehydration, and fever. If left untreated
these hypercyanotic episodes can be fatal. Deletion of the gene on Chromosome 22, (22q11) is often
the cause of TOF among other congenital heart defects. Another gene associated with this anomaly is
the jagged1 gene, which can be diagnosed through the images of an echocardiogram. On an anterior
posterior chest x ray, the heart is shaped boot like. 3
Treatment after birth includes administering prostaglandin E to maintain the ductal patency and
pulmonary perfusion. In some cases Blalock Taussig shunt (BT shunt) can be performed to provide
adequate pulmonary blood flow to the lung. Surgeries are done over time from neonates to 4 6 months
of age. Mortality depends on the severity of TOF. It carries a 35% mortality rate if left untreated in the
first year of life and 50% mortality rate in the first three years of life. Genetic testing to look for these
mutations can be a viable option

The Pros And Cons Of Knoxville Pedestrian Accidents
Knoxville Pedestrian Accidents Attorney When most people think about traffic accidents, they think
about collisions between motor vehicles. However, it is estimated that a pedestrian dies every two
hours in the United States in a crash related accident. During 2013, 150,000 pedestrians were treated
for injuries resulting from traffic crashes and 4,735 pedestrians lost their lives in traffic accidents. In
fact, pedestrians are about one and half times more likely to be killed in a traffic accident compared to
the occupants of passenger vehicles. Pedestrian deaths have increased significantly in Tennessee since
2012. According to data from the Tennessee Department of Safety Homeland Security, 68 pedestrians

Pedestrians More Susceptible To Traumatic Injuries In A Crash? Pedestrians are at a higher risk of
death and serious injury in a traffic accident for the same reason motorcyclists and bicyclists are at an
increased risk lack of protection. Occupants of a passenger vehicle are protected by the vehicle in a
collision. The vehicle takes the majority of the impact; however, a pedestrian receives the full impact
of a collision. There is nothing to protect the pedestrian from the force of the impact; therefore, the
injuries in a pedestrian accident tend to be deadly or catastrophic. Common injuries in pedestrian
accidents include brain injuries, spinal injuries, paralysis, internal bleeding, broken bones, and
fractures. Even a low impact pedestrian accidents can result in injuries that leave the victim with
permanent disabilities. A careless or distracted driver can turn your world upside down in a matter of
seconds leaving you with substantial

Kurt Vonnegut Research Paper
Kurt Vonnegut s works were affected by his dark viewpoint on human existence, that death is
inevitable and his lack of trust, but are most well known for his use of black humor to express it. Kurt
Vonnegut s most famous books included Slaughterhouse Five, Cat s Cradle, and Breakfast of
Champions, but he wrote many others. According to Kurt Vonnegut Jr. , Vonnegut s writing style was
considered postmodernism. Postmodernism is the use of choppy, vernacular sentences that go against
traditional rules of plot, theme, time, and character development. He demonstrated social myths and
viewed the world differently with new ideas and thoughts (5). Cat s Cradle said, [Kurt Vonnegut used]

Kurt Vonnegut is known for his use of black humor and his humorous way of looking at something
sad or serious often in his books. Criticism for his most popular book, Slaughterhouse Five, included
questions of Vonnegut s Moral Indifference and as Michael Crichton said, [Vonnegut] refuses to say
who is wrong... ascribes no blame, sets no penalties ( qtd in Telegan and Hile 269). Similarly, Lev
Grossman spoke of Vonnegut saying that his opinion of human nature was low, and that the author
was endlessly disappointed in humanity (qtd in Cat s Cradle 70). People even suggested that his
frequent repetition of distinctive phrases, use of colloquialisms, and his digressive manner became
overused and uninspired over time ( Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. 6). Although he was criticized by some as
pessimistic, others observe that aspects of his work counter his gloomy worldview. Vonnegut s humor
was loved by his readers, and helped him stand out from other generic works of his time. As Telegan
and Hile quote Robert Scholes, [Vonnegut s humor] does not disguise the awful things perceived; it
merely strengthens and comforts us to the point where such perception is bearable . Robert Scholes
also considered his novel, Slaughterhouse Five, to be an extraordinary success... a book we need to
read, and to reread... funny, compassionate, and wise (264). Vonnegut s writing style set him apart
from other authors, and also kept more negative criticism off hi back. He received lots of praise from
many people for his outstanding, different, and interesting works. Terry Southern wrote in 1963,
following the publication of Vonnegut s book Cat s Cradle, to be far more engaging and meaningful
other than the melodramatic tripe which most critics seem to consider serious ( Cat s Cradle 69). In

Child Labor During A Nike Factory
CHILD LABOR IN A NIKE FACTORY IN PAKISTAN Abstract This paper especially focuses on the
problem of Child Labor in Pakistan with respect to the case of the world renowned sports brand Nike
and its use of children in its factories in Pakistan. A set of laws that can be established to eradicate this
evil from Pakistan have been elaborated upon in the paper, these proposals include the Trafficking
Victim Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), the International Human Right Treaty by the
General Assembly, International Criminal Court (ICC), penalty laws for businesses practicing child
labor, system to inspect workplaces for child labor and holding employers responsible for the
education of the employed children. The recommendations section of the paper deals with methods
beside laws that can aid in the eradication of child labor and includes negative publicity, introducing a
rating mechanism and dealing with competing (and ethically more sound) organizations. Outline I.
Introduction: A. Thesis statement: Because child labor is practiced in Pakistan at a Nike factory, I
propose the Trafficking Victim Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), the International Human
Right Treaty by the General Assembly, International Criminal Court (ICC), and negative publicity to
mitigate the problem. II. Analyses the problem: A. Child Trafficking affects children in several ways
including: 1. It harms the child 2. Some children work for little pay, giving them low income

Pieter Claesz Still Life
A quick glance at the Still Life (1643) by Pieter Claesz (figure 1) reminds me of his Still Life with
Oysters and Roemer (1642) (figure 2). The environment looks familiar, because they both depicted
similar objects against the same wall, the same light source and perhaps the same table. A silver plate
with three pieces of oysters, accompanied by a knife on the left, always occupies the middle
foreground of the table; behind the plate of oysters is always a gleaming Roemer that is placed on the
left across from a piece of bread. I also see pepper spreading out from its newspaper packing, and at
the back, a pinch of salt sitting in a metal container while topping the brim.
I think the meaning(s) of the Still Life (1643) lie(s) in the comparison ... Show more content on

Nevertheless, I feel Hochstraser would stand out and warn me not to be fooled by those fancy objects
appearance or underestimate little things value. She would direct me to look at the pepper on the table
and think about the labors and lives cost on the way from its homeland to Dutchmen s table. On the
one hand, a Dutch merchant would be encouraged by the abundant still life painting to invest in more
voyage and goods from Dutch colonies; on the other hand, due to the underestimation of the cost and
labor on the importing activity, Dutch people yet never realized the bankruptcy that awaited nearby.
Thus, everything is expensive in the Still Life (1643). However, I wondered if the bread has shown
traces of getting consumed by someone, then why not everything? I suppose originally there were five
oysters presented in the table, but only two were needed and perhaps the pearl was from one of the
eaten ones. I suppose the Roemer was filled nearly to the top with liquor yet the consumer only sipped
a little out of it. I suppose that the consumer may not even need the pepper and salt, because, as Still
Life with Oysters and Roemer (1642) suggests, I did not see pepper gets grinded and salt gets
sprinkled on the plate. Then I questioned: if the consumer does not need the salt, why does he/she
have it on the table with a luxurious container whose appearance surpasses its function? Although

Sociological Concept in The Help
Summary:
The Help is written by Tate Taylor in 2011 which is adapted from Kathryn Stockett s novel. This film
mainly talked about three women in Mississippi during 1960s : Aibileen Clark who is a black maid
and works for Elizabeth family, Minny Jackson who is the brusque and outspoken maid, and Skeeter
Phelan who decides to write the book about the help . In overall, The Help presents how African
American maids in the South viewed their employers during Jim Crow days.
First, Skeeter is a southern society girl, who already graduated from a college, comes home and finds
that she doesn t easily fit in that society. She has never had a boyfriend despite wanting romance in her
life, primarily concentrate for writing career, either as a serious journalist. Skeeter starts to think about
writing book to change attitudes about race in Jackson Mississippi, which is also the chance from a
New York s editor to develop her career. She purposed to know about the works of a black maid in
Mississippi. Aibileen is the first woman who agrees to work with Skeeter. Aibileen works hard for
Elizabeth family in Jackson. After realizing that Skeeter needs more maids stories to finish the book,

forced on them. However, their sacrifice also viewed how beautiful and strong they were .Therefore,
for the women in The Help the struggles are obvious. Aibileen had denied joining in Skeeter s book

Plato s The Republic And Aristotle
Plato s The Republic and Aristotle s The Politics are two classic texts in ancient Greek political
thought. Although Plato taught Aristotle, the two philosophers had differing viewpoints on many
subjects, one of them being the purpose of political rule. Plato believed that the purpose of political
rule is to allow for the manifestation of a just city where both the city and its citizens are in harmony
due to a specialization of roles according to individuals natures, whereas Aristotle believed that the
purpose of political rule is to create a regime that pursues the common advantage and preserves the
political partnership of the city.
According to Plato, political rule s purpose is to enforce a certain version of justice. Plato s version of
justice is neither Polemarchus idea of doing good to friends and harm to enemies, nor is it
Telemarchus idea that justice is the advantage of the stronger (Plato pg. 7 15). Justice in The Republic
is adhering to your role in order to secure the good of the whole, and not just the individual. The
proper expression of this view of justice results in a city that is harmonious because its individual parts
are functioning correctly. In order for the individual citizens in the city to carry out their proper roles,
they must be separated into three categories: gold souls, silver souls, and bronze souls. Gold souls
individuals are those who are competent to rule; silver souls are guardians who protect the city and
also keep watch over the

Technology And New Media Art
There are numerous upon numerous different styles of art from traditional art to new media art.
Traditional genres of art such as painting, drawing and ceramics create pieces of work that are done by
hand. Unlike traditional art, new media art has pieces of work created by digital machines and other
technological devices. In addition, digital media art can be in a form of a video, sculpture, installation
art ,photography, robotics, audio and many other formulations.
In the reading New Media Art Introduction written by Mark Tribe, the author talks about technology
and art becoming new media art. together. According to Tribe in the reading, We use the term New
Media art to describe projects that make use of emerging media technologies and are concerned with
the cultural, political, and aesthetic possibilities of these tools (Tribe, 1). In this quote, the the author
interprets new art form as electrical pieces of work to help give out a message; whether it is
controversial, aesthetic, or racial topics that connect within our society. In addition, new media art can
represent all of these element, some of these elements or even one of these elements. I strongly agree
with the author s definition of new media art because in learning and researching about new media I
have found three new media artists that support the author s definition. These new media artist are
Aleksandar Srnec, Katherine Behar and Camille Turner.
The first new media artist I found researching was

Narrative And Themes In The Circus By Charlie Chaplin
A genre of the film is the narrative and themes of a film. The different types of genres are fictional,

Silliness and assessment entwine; the shot, similar to the film and the vast majority of Chaplin s work,
is truly painfully clever. At first glance, The Circus is as energetic and charming as Chaplin s other
most well known noiseless comedies. It s loaded with locate chokes, grounded in a sentiment, and
finish with gaudy tricks. It s your normal tribute to the little person in the city corner. However, at the
focal point of the film is something else. Unbeknownst to him The Tramp turns into a celebration star
in The Circus. Something other than the person in the city, The Tramp turned into an entertainer
whose tricks achieved a vast and participative crowd. In making his character an entertainer by calling
in the film, Chaplin welcomes a reflexivity all alone big name and vocation, requesting that the
gathering of people consider their part in silver screen as much as he hopes to think about himself.

and crowd. Chaplin was dependably part of an industry that depended relatively without any help on

Globalization and Higher Living Standards
Globalization is spawning a rise in living standards
The main focus in this article is to illustrate how globalization has improved the lives of many in
developing nations. Globalization in of its self is the trading of goods and services of a local economy
into an integrated global economy. Technological advances have made this practice more feasible with
in the last 50 years. The major milestones were the development of the internet and increased
transportation technology. These two advances made the world coined flat and set the stage for higher

business not only cuts cost for the companies it demotes the corruption and violence accompanied
with most poverty torn nations.
Globalization allows for countries and cultures to share its products and services to the rest of the
world. As I walk thru my house I have products from the entire globe. You no longer have to travel to
remote locations to pick up unique items. Having products that I love from around the world
personally strengthens my standard of living. I feel as though im a part of something larger that just
American culture or what I like to refer as Californication. The thought of buying something from a
foreign country, especially a developing nation brings a warm feeling inside my body knowing I did a
small part in helping globalize the world. The spread of cultures through globalization allows for a
melting pot of products and services. It allows us to connect with people from 1,000 of miles away
and support economies from all over the globe. Globalization is not harming poor countries.

When diagraming Case Study House #16 by Craig Elwood I discovered that the plan was made up of
a series of L shape geometries that were correlated and organized around a diagonal line. These L
shapes varied in direction and size but were the regulating geometries of the plan, in specific the mass
and void of the house itself. These L geometries identified the bones of the plan and allowed a rotation
within the plan to be revealed and later emphasized. Once the rotation was revealed, groups of Ls
were then analyzed, questioned, chosen and emphasized within a new diagram. These Ls rotated
around a central point and reformed the mostly rectangular plan into a circular diagram. At this stage

[...] Significant Form is the one quality common to all works of visual art.
Significant form is substituted for beauty for two reasons. First, beauty reduces to a universal,
excluding its use as a standard. If beauty can be an objective standard, then it also must be particular,
in that it can be known. If beauty is understood as an underlying principle, or essence of art that
evokes aesthetic emotion where essence is defined by what it is said to be in respect of itself then
absent of the predications that describe beauty, such as the accuracy of representation, technical skill,
or impressive form, all that remains is beauty evidently. Secondly, people are apt to use beauty to
predicate a subject absent of the aesthetic emotion that its presence evokes. Therefore, any system of
aesthetics which pretends to be based on some objective truth is palpably ridiculous ... . Using the
framework formerly established, in conjunction with analysis from Clive Bell, John Hospers, Kakuzo

justice, as they had to be interrogated by many attorneys and prove their history in the Long Beach
area through multiple documents to prove their genealogy to the buried people. I also learned that
Puvunga is not only a burial site, but a place for ceremony and prayer. It is one of the largest religious
site for Native Americans in the entire country, however most people do not recognize it as such an
important landmark. This interview changed my understanding of the Long Beach area and my
campus. I realized that this community dates way further back than the westward expansion of the
United States and people should educate themselves on the rich history of Long Beach. I learned how
awful the United States people and government have treated Native Americans and how their needs to
be more justice for the people who were here long before we were. In conclusion, interviewing a tribal
member of the Tongva tribe helped me to understand Long Beach s diverse history more and to begin

Federal Government Budget Essay
Federal government spending is increasing, deficits are lingering, and the amount of accumulated debt
is reaching dangerously high levels. Growing spending and debt are undermining economic growth
and may push the nation into a severe financial crisis in coming years (Edwards, 2016). How can we
keep our balance and spending under control? Federal spending is becoming more and more of a
problem, and Bill Clinton did not balance our budget. He did provide solutions to balance our budget

But it s not just up to the President which is why it s so hard to come to an agreement. During the
Clinton era, Clinton proposed to increase Federal spending by 4 percent, to $1.73 trillion, to hire
100,000 new teachers, provide adequate child care, boost scientific research and offer monitored tax
incentives. Effects of a large tax increase that Clinton pushed for in his first year are made prominent.
For the most part, it fell entirely on upper income taxpayers and the wealthy people in our society.
Clintons 1994 budget also contained some spending restraints. The cuts allowed the economy to boom
and there were bigger gains in the stock market business that made people happy (Bennett,1998). The
new budget brought in hundreds of millions in unexpected tax revenue from taxes on capital gains and
rapidly rising salaries (Jackson,2008). Although this was a good plan, it unfortunately did not get

gave his opinion as the time passed. Even though the budget was balanced while he was in office, but

Industry Description and Outlook Based off an article Miami Herald in 2014, dog grooming and
boarding businesses make around $100,000+ annually. With this information, the market share for one
of these companies would be .0017% market share, while the higher end businesses in the pet services
industry make $1,000,000+ annually which translates to a .017% market share. I did get a chance to
speak to a representative from the Pet Paradise Resort and Day Spa which said that they make an
estimated $70,000 $80,000 per year. Based off this research we can expect to make at least $70,000 a

Resting Membrane Potential Essay
The first step of four is called the resting membrane potential, the resting membrane potential is also
known as polarized. At this stage no ions move through the voltage gated channels, both sodium and
potassium gates are shut. A neuron (which is a specialized cell transmitting nerve impulses) is resting.
At resting state, the membrane potential of a neuron is roughly 70mV (millivolts), so the cytoplasmic
side (which is the inside) is negatively charged parallel to the outside. All gated Na+ and K+ channels
are closed at this stage. A Na+ channel each has two gates, 1 being an activation gate which is closed
at rest but swings open when depolarization occurs, the second being and inactivation gate that ceases
the channel once swung open. Although for Na+ to enter both gates ... Show more content on

This is where the Na+ channels are inactivating, this allows the K+ gates to swing open. Due to their
being a lot more Na+ ions on the outside and the inside the sodium dashes into the neuron first,
sodium is a positive charge, so during depolarization the neurons become a lot more positive. As time
passes the Na+ channels inactivates allowing the K+ channels to swing open the K+ channels take
more time to open, but once they fully have unfortunately, the internal negativity resting membrane is
restored to 70mV (Marieb ; Hoehn;, 2010).
The fourth and final step is called Hyperpolarization. This is a dramatic change in the cells membrane
potential which makes it more negative than the resting membrane potential. It is the complete
opposite of depolarization. Hyperpolarization is also considered as a undershoot, due to it dropping
below step 1 (resting membrane potential) during the hyperpolarization stage a small amount of K+
channels remain open while the Na+ channels reset, the Na+ channels reset to their original position
by changing their shape to further reopen their inactivation gates by closing the activation gates

The Main Features Of Information Management
01 The need to manage information and knowledge within organisations
1.1 Outline the main features of information management
Information management (IM) is the collection and management of information from one or more
sources and the distribution of that information to one or more audiences; is also particularly critical to
businesses that work in conjunction with other businesses, so the two must share information with, or
transfer information to, each other. In addition, businesses with more than one department or unit can
use the MIS to compile information in one central location, thereby preventing information loss.
1.2 Explain the relationship between data, information and knowledge
The relationship between data, information, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowledge can refer to a theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. It can be tacit (as with
practical skill or expertise) or explicit (as with the theoretical understanding of a subject); it can be
more or less formal or systematic. Botha et al (2008) pointed out that tacit and explicit knowledge
should be seen as a spectrum rather than as definitive points. Therefore, in practice, all knowledge is a
mixture of tacit and explicit elements rather than being one or the other. The most important
distinction within KM is between explicit and tacit knowledge. The overload of data is making
knowledge management increasingly more important as it facilitates decision making capabilities;
builds learning organizations by making learning routine, and stimulates cultural change and
innovation.
1.4 Analyse the benefits that information and knowledge management brings to organisations
To get sustainable competitive advantage, the significant role of knowledge management has been
explored. Knowledge management causes companies core competencies to become stronger.
Therefore, competitive advantage has been more sustainable. Knowledge management is perceived as
the development of organizing the intangible asset of a firm. The economic and production level of a
company relies more on its brainpower, human capital and invisible competences than its physical
assets. The function of each business relies upon the knowledge of its human capital.

Notice that the Reynolds number is given in logarithmic scale. Then, we exit the diagram horizontally,
starting from the point defined above, towards the left of the diagram. Page 1 of 4 The Colebrook
White formula was proposed in the first half of last century, and allows for the computation of f . It is
expressed as follows: 1 = − 2 log10 f  ε 2.51  +  3 .7 D ℜ f      (1) where ε or ks
indicates the pipe equivalent roughness, D is the pipe diameter, and ℜ is the Reynolds number. The
main characteristic of Equation (1) is that it is implicit. It can be observed that the Darcy Weisbach
coefficient appears at both sides in (1), and there is no way of obtaining it solely as a function of
known variables. Therefore, a numerical method needs to be applied to compute that coefficient.
Equation (1) can be expressed as:  ε 1 2.51 + 0.869 ln  +  3.7 D ℜ f f   =0   (2) where
the logarithm on base 10 has been converted to the natural logarithm. Multiplying by f , Equation (2)
yields:  ε 2.51 f 0.869 ln  +  3.7 D ℜ f   =0   F =1+ (3) which is still an implicit
equation. Problem 1 You are asked to: 1. Please, develop a code for the bisection method to obtain the

Freudian Analysis Of Zuñi Tale
Freudian Analysis of Zuñi Tale Sigmund Freud, the famed Austrian neurologist, pioneered the process
of psychoanalysis, which was intended to be a clinical method to treat neurosis and other forms of
psychopathology. However, it has also found use in analyzing stories, dreams, and myths. Freud s
method of developing latent thoughts through manifest content will be demonstrated in the following
paper, which focuses on a Zuñi folktale called The Ugly Wild Boy Who Drove the Bear Away from
South Eastern Mesa. The story is about a young boy who lives with his grandmother near a village
called K iákime. This boy is unlike others in that he is frightfully ugly ; with scars all over his body, he
suffers from distorted facial features and abnormal growths on his head. One season it rains heavily in
the Southeastern Mesa near K iákime, bringing forth fresh growth like nuts from piñon trees, fruit
from datilas, and seeds from the gray grass and redtop. However, the villagers are unable to retrieve

forth fertility. Freud s works explain fruits as a symbol of breasts, in line with the concept of fertility.

represent desirable items to the boy and the villagers. Unfortunately, the bear prevents the village from
gathering the fruit, which drives the story s main conflict. A towering, violent animal, the bear is the
principle foe of the boy, and further affirms the notion of the simpleton hero story; in comparison, the
boy is weak, yet he can defy all odds and defeat a more powerful enemy. Moreover, his unexpected

A Car In NASCAR
If you have ever wondered how the cars in NASCAR are so fast, it s the tech that is in them. In every
NASCAR race car, is a piece of machinery that has been worked on for hours. Mechanics of every
NASCAR team work for hundreds of hours building engines, making adjustments, building the roll
cage, and getting stock parts. The cars are worked on throughout the entire week, because the crews
have to go through the car and see if they had missed anything that they were supposed to fix or
adjust. If they don t do that, the driver will talk about how the car is running and feeling. The cars are
modified to be able to run on the tracks that they are going to run on. Most of these cars need a lot of

The engines in the racecars of NASCAR are way more different. They have more horsepower, more
torque, and a lot more power. According to popularmechanics.com, the engines in Nascar Sprint Cup
cars are 90 degree pushrod V8s, just like those that have powered many vehicles on American roads
for more than 50 years. But today, the engine under Jimmie Johnson s hood is a custom made 850 hp
358 cubic inch thoroughbred that s optimized to run flat out for no more than 1000 miles. See most
street car engines have about 400 to 500 horsepower. Engines in NASCAR have different valve trains,
engine blocks, and a different lubrication system. Those make the engines more powerful. The tires in
NASCAR are also very different. For one thing, the tires are filled with nitrogen instead of air. That
makes the tire wider, and much more harder to pop. They also have a treadless design on them so they
get more grip on a dryer track. If they raced on wet tracks, the tires won t get traction from the track
and will spin out. That is why NASCAR stops the races if it rains. So even if the engines don t really
evolve, they still may run on them, but most teams make new engines before every

Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The Essay
Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The I Function
The so called I function which describes the brain s sense of self takes on interesting connotations
when discussing phantom limbs and associated phantom pain. The loss of an arm or leg through
amputation is not an easy experience to endure, and is even more difficult when the patient begins to
feel sensations in their now missing limb. These feelings, sometimes referred to as stump
hallucination , is the subjective sensation, not arising from an external stimulus, that an amputated
limb is still present (1). Although they no longer exist, patients perceive these limbs as still being
essential components of their body image, and continues to move in sync with their torso and other ...

Since there is no visual feedback, initiating motor intention does not activate proprioreceptors (4).
Over time, phantom limbs are deemed by the amputee to be overflexed, which causes a cramping
pain. The question that arises is, if the inconsistency between the intention of the brain and the
perception of the body s actions was to be resolved, could the phantom pain also be eliminated?
Several theories have been developed over the years that have attempted to answer this question, most
notably by Ronald Melzack and Vilayanur Ramachandran.
The earliest hypothesis regarding the cause of phantom limbs and pain was that of neuromas. These
were thought to be nodules comprised of remaining nerves located at the end of the stump. These
neuromas presumably continued to generate impulses that traveled up the spinal cord to portions of
the thalamus and somatosensory domains of the cortex. As a result, treatment involved cutting the
nerves just above the neuroma in an attempt to interrupt signaling at each somatosensory level (5).
This and other related theories were deemed unsatisfactory because of the fact the phantom pain
always returned, indicating that there was a more complex reason.
Psychologist Ronald Melzack developed the concept of the neuromatrix and the neurosignature. This
idea held that the brain contained a neuromatrix or a network of neurons that analyzed the sensory
information and allowed the perception of

Predictable and Unpredictable Life Events

effects of racism and the expectations of others. This is supported in significant parts of the novel such
as the battle royal, his time in the Brotherhood, and the Harlem riot. The narrator s invisibility first
comes up in chapter one, where he is invited to a community meeting consisting of prestigious white
citizens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ellison also supports his claim when he refers to their dirty ears, the dirt symbolizing the racist trash
that has built up in the minds of the white men, affecting their choice not to give the narrator their full
attention and respect he deserves as a human being. The narrator shows in the basement that he is truly
blind to the white oppression that controls his life. He lets himself be ridiculed by turning into a
puppet for the white crowd for entertainment purposes. Still, he holds onto the assumption that if he
degrades himself, he will be rewarded in the end. As a result, the narrator does not advance in his
journey to find his identity, but rather degrades himself even more and makes himself dependent on
other s opinions. Furthermore, the narrator appears invisible to others and to himself during his time as
a member of the Brotherhood, an organization that appears in the novel as a euphemism to the
Communist Party in real life. The narrator joins the Brotherhood in the hopes of creating an identity
for himself within the organization by acquiring recognition as a prestigious black leader. He is under
the assumption that the Brotherhood recognizes his ideas, his individuality, his intelligence, and soon
becomes dedicated and loyal to their cause. However, the narrator does not discover the Brotherhood s
true intentions until after Brother Clifton s funeral. The Brotherhood turns against the narrator for his
belligerent speech at the funeral that

Health Current Events Research Paper
Health Current Events An optamaligist known as Dr. Ralph Chu and Dr. Rex Hamilton have made
some ground breaking discoveries in helping to prevent fading close up vision. They have made an
amazing eye plant called the rain drop. The rain drop helps with reshaping the cornea so it can focus
better and faster. One of the most important ways it helps people with close up vision is to be able to
read better. According to Dr. Ralph Chu, this is one of the most significant advances in apthomology
in 20 years. The reason why it is so important is because it can remove the need for reading glasses in
anyone that affected by presbyopia also known as the aging eye. The lenses costs 4000$ to get
implanted are not covered by insurance.

Guns And Crime And Violence Essay
Guns and crime. These two words sound interesting, right? Now think about it deeply, do they really
link to each other? Do guns surely lead to crime and violent issues? If so, should governments set
restrictive rules for people who own and use the guns, such as provide the mental health reports, and
test the shooting skills before purchasing the guns? These questions have been mentioned and
discussed over and over again in today s world. We can often hear the news about gun violence, such
as a tragic mass shooting somewhere around the world and tons of victims who died from the
accident, or husband that shot his wife by accident. Thus, many people, especially people in America,
are asking, and even doubting whether or not it is beneficial to own guns at home without a license. In
my opinion, I think that owning a gun can be helpful sometimes in some ways, as it can always be the
extremely powerful and helpful weapon for self defense, especially when help from the law
enforcement officers are not available.
Being a student in the United States, I have often heard many stories about gun violence. I always
thought it was something that would never happen to me and people around me until that Friday night.
I clearly remember that it was a chill and windy night. A dark sky was full of the blazing stars, and a
round bright moon hanging in the sky. Everything just seemed so quiet and perfect. During the time, I
was sleeping peacefully in bed, and all of a sudden I heard someone

The Ottoman Empire And Islamic Terrorism
The Ottoman Empire and Islamic Terrorism
Florida International University
By
Melinda Persaud
November 7, 2014
Introduction What is known today as modern day Turkey, was once one of the most powerful empires
in the world. They referred to this imperial state as the Ottoman Empire. The Purpose of the empire
was to gain land , and spread their Islamic teachings. With this they had created a thirteenth century
empire led by Osman, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. Osman surrounded himself with strong
solders who specialized in ambushes, and hit and run tactics, they referred to these highly trained
soldiers as Janissaries . The empire they built was the largest and most dominant of the Muslim
empires. The decline of the Ottoman Empire led to terrorist movements, specifically Islamic terrorism.
Wanting to spread their beliefs through violence, Islamic terrorist groups began to try to overpower
certain nations. It not only existed in the later history but still seems to play a big role even today. This
has spread throughout the world from the horrific tragedy of the World Trade Center all the way to the
multiple bombings in the London Underground. One main terrorist group that has our focus today
would be ISIS whose purpose is to create an Islamic state. This is only one example of a current
Islamic terrorist group. Power, religion, and beliefs are what seem to make up the goal of what these
Islamic terrorist groups are trying to allow.

James Coleman s Equality Of Educational Opportunity
The report was so seismic Daniel Patrick Moynihan s word that Lyndon B. Johnson s administration
released it on Fourth of July weekend, 1966, hoping it would not be noticed. But the Coleman Report
did disturb various dogmatic slumbers and vested interests. And 50 years on, it is pertinent to today s
political debates about class and social mobility. So, let us now praise an insufficiently famous man,
sociologist James Coleman, author of the study Equality of Educational Opportunity. In 1966, postwar
liberalism s confidence reached its apogee. From 1938, when the electorate rebuked Franklin
Roosevelt for his plan to pack the Supreme Court, through 1964, congressional Republicans and
conservative Democrats prevented a liberal legislating majority. But Johnson s 44 state victory that
year gave Democrats 68 Senate seats and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moynihan, then a 37 year old social scientist in Johnson s Labor Department, presented in The Negro
Family: The Case for National Action what then counted as shocking news: 23.6 percent of African
American births were to unmarried women. Today 71 percent are. Almost 47 percent of all first births
are to unmarried women, and a majority of all mothers under 30 are not living with the fathers of their
children. The causes of family disintegration remain unclear, but 51 years ago Moynihan and then
Coleman foresaw the consequences. Moynihan said the tangle of pathologies associated with the
absence of fathers produces a continually renewed cohort of inadequately socialized adolescent males.
Socializing them is society s urgent business if it is to avoid chaotic neighborhoods and schools where
maintaining discipline displaces teaching. Coleman documented how schools are reflections of, rather
than cures for, the failure of families to function as the primary transmitters of social

he fails, they will establish a friendly way of accessing the house. Mr. John can help in this, since he
understands the house better. After gaining the access to the house, Mr. John will assist the officers in
identifying Mr. Jones and in a cheerful mood, the officers will greet him and make a friendly
introduction, elaborating the reason for their visit. The person elaborating the reason for the visit
should use more cheerful and joking language to make Mr. Jones feel at ease and willing to welcome
his guests.
Handshake will be exchange after Mr. Jones is comfortable with the group and the fear of intrusion is
over. The handshake should also involve assurance eye contact to make him feel freer and secure
while talking with the officers. The officer in charge will mention how much they appreciate Mr. John

Called to Service a Life of Missionary Service
After I turned sixteen (16) years of age, I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit calling to me and
directing me to serve as a missionary in the field. My internal strength is always my sense of faith
since I feel so strongly that my destiny lies in helping my neighbour as well as seeking a higher
purpose that my faith leads me towards a path of tranquillity and harmony with my Father. As a result
of my predilection of helping others, I have decided to act onto God s will and gravitate towards
missionary service rather than talking but, in fact, executing my quest. In addition, the realization of
assisting altruistically my fellow man on a global basis added another layer of purpose that serves my
Father on several levels towards my missionary life. For example, I ve always felt a need to help other
to seek a better life for themselves spiritually, physical, and mentally since I have made a
consciousness decision to follow my desire help others for the greater need of others rather than my
own needs that is more than satiating my need to work with those in need of life skillsets.
On 2010, I turned eighteen (18) years of age. I remember this time frame only in that I served on my
first international missionary trip in Jakarta, Indonesia for two (2) weeks of my life at a small village
that was thirty (30) minutes from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. During my time at the small
village, I had to overcome feelings of discomfort since this was my first time outside my

Development of an infant from womb to twelve months of age
A mothers nutritional status, before and during her pregnancy has a powerful impact on the lifelong

encounter in utero shape everything from our susceptibility to disease, to our appetite and metabolism,
to our intelligence and temperament (Kresser). The mother s prenatal care, nutrition, and precautions

acid works only if taken before getting pregnant and during the first few weeks of pregnancy, often
before a woman may know she s pregnant (Folic acid). Also certain medicines during pregnancy
should not be taken as they can cause side effects or other problems inside the womb (Prenatal Care

Mannerism and Baroque
If you study art history at any length, you will become aware of the many different periods and their
individual characteristics. There are prime times throughout art history that the general populations
can easily identify such as Renaissance or Impressionism. They might even be able to name a few of
the artists or their artwork. As you delve further into the rich history of art, you start to notice many
deviations in the style of artists who are transitioning into a new artistic period. At first look, you
might not see the subtle difference in the art from the norm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the seventeenth century, the city of Rome became the model indication of Catholic dignity and
satisfaction articulated in all the arts. (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, n.d.) The popularity and
success of the baroque was encouraged by the Catholic Church when it decided that the spectacle of
the baroque artists style could communicate religious themes in direct and emotional attachment. The
secular nobles also saw the dramatic style of baroque architecture and art as a means of impressing
visitors and prospective competitors. ( ArtinPicture.com, 2013, para. 2) The Baroque period is known
for its extravagance and eccentricity. Chiaroscuro and tenebrism are a large part of Baroque art. Some
of the main characteristics of the baroque era are of the portrayals feel emotionally and tangibly real.
The artists wanted you to participate in the scene. Baroque artists painted real people with all of their
imperfections. The artists rendered religious figures and saints in theological settings and miracles
portrayed as ordinary individuals in common goings on. Gian Lorenzo Bernini is one of the greatest
artists to emerge out of the Baroque period. Some of Bernini s works include The Ecstasy of Saint
Teresa, Rape of Persephone, and the Triton Fountain at the Piazza Barberini. Known for

The Problem with Immgration to the United States Essay
The Problem with Immgration to the United States
The first move stopping immigration decided by Congress was a law in 1862 restricting American
vessels to transport Chinese immigrants to the U.S. The Alien Contract Labor Laws of 1885, 1887,
1888, and 1891 restricted the immigration to the U.S. of people entering the country to work under
contracts made before their arrival. Alien skilled laborers, under these laws, were allowed to enter the
U.S. to work in new industries. By this time anti immigrant felling rose with the flood of immigrants
and in this period the anti Catholic, anti foreign political party the Know Nothings, was already born.

other cultures. Lowers the cost of products produced in the U.S. that we buy. If the businesses can
produce products and services at a low price keeping there overhead low, then we as a consumer will
also pay a lower price. Most illegals are skilled workers and helps run the economy. Other countries
economies are also being helped. The workers bring money to their families out side of the U.S. which
in most cases the U.S. dollar has a higher value than their own. Most people disagree saying the cons
of this issue out way the pros. Here are some of the cons to this hideous problem. Illegal immigrants
pay no tax. If they pay no taxes then how can we as a country pay for public services we as well as
they do. Sending money out of our economy and sending it to their families abroad. If money is taken
out of our economy it causes a monetary problem. this can cause an inaccurate account of money in
circulation, which might cause inflation. Lower wages; if an illegal is willing to work for under the
minimum wage then the employer will not pay more for the job to any other employ. In fact might
higher only illegals and take away jobs form legal residents who are willing to work. When illegals
come to this country they do not get tested for diseases that might infect the population. Which can
cause a health problem. Such as

  • 2. Benefits Of Legacy Application Mobility Legacy Application Mobility, is the Answer Surprisingly Simple? The significant benefits of mobility were highlighted in a recent Microsoft paper. The paper went further than most, stating some quantifiable bottom line benefits for mobile application access; claiming that mobility leads to 30% improvement in processes and 23% more productivity and 100% more satisfied employees . This enthusiasm and willingness to drive value for the business outside of the typical work hours, or office location, can no longer be dismissed. So, what is stopping organisations tapping into this extra productivity, and why are organisations that rely on legacy applications, such as Mainframe, Unix, IBM i, Pick or even Multi Value systems finding it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have previously been physically guarded, so the idea of making them available on an unregulated mobile device can be especially jarring. It s important to remember though, that organisations who choose not to enable employee mobility are not immune to this risk. The latest Forrester State of Enterprise Mobile Security report, by Chris Sherman points out that employees are going to continue to purchase and use whatever devices and apps they need to serve customers and be highly productive, whether or not these devices are company sanctioned . Whether you embrace of shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround. Is this a barrier too high, or could there be a solution? What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen, replica of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app would work on all devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been released yet. It would be as secure and performant as the in house applications and you wouldn t have to develop it at all. It would just work. That sounds wildly unrealistic and in some ways, it is. There is no app that will do all of those things, apps by their nature are specifically developed for their destined OS; but apps are not a requisite for mobility. They are often lumped together and assumed the same, but there is an alternative route to mobility that allows you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Lapham family betrayed Johnny, just because of Johnny s hand that was burned while making a teapot for John Hancock. Before the incident, Mrs. Lapham use to treat Johnny very well, proper and as a gifted person in her family. After the incident Mrs. Lapham called Johnny a useless person that is only good for picking up rags and virtually told Johnny to get out of the house. Johnny was even betrayed by his own family and the proof was a silver cup that the entire family knew about. After leaving the Lapham family, being jobless, and starving Johnny decided to use his last resort, which was the silver cup that was given to him by his mother. The entire family rejected Johnny when they were in private, and in court without any sympathy, even though the Lyte family knew Johnny s case about his dead mother. Jonathan Lyte, a very wealthy, successful, and popular merchant in Boston, accused Johnny of stealing one of the cups that belong to Jonathan Lyte. Luckily during the case, Cilla was there to support Johnny. According to Jonathan Lyte, someone stole one of his silver cups in August, however Johnny Tremain had showed the silver cup to Cilla on July. That proves that Johnny did not steal Jonathan Lytes silver cup and the silver cup belonged to Johnny Tremain. Johnny was betrayed by his own family, which pretended that they never knew him. Close to the end when the Lyte family were leaving Boston, going back London, Lavinia Lyte, Jonathan Lyte s daughter, admitted that Johnny Tremain was part of their ... • 4. Congenital Heart Defect It is very important to note that congenital heart defects are among the most common birth defects affecting more than 40,000 children a year. The defects can be very complex and life threatening or relatively benign. Treatment is different for every cardiac defect and usually involves medicines, surgeries, heart transplants, and mechanical ventilation. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is characterized by hypoplasia of the left ventricle, aortic stenosis, hypoplasia of the ascending aorta, and coarctation (narrowing) of the aorta. In normal conditions the left side of the heart receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it into the systemic circulation. In patients with HLHS, the left ventricle and the aorta are underdeveloped. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... TOF involves four anatomical abnormalities of the heart: a large VSD, a stenotic pulmonary artery, an overriding aorta, and right ventricular hypertrophy. The degree of cyanosis of TOF depends largely on the size of the right to left shunt. Patients with left to right shunting may have little to no cyanosis and are referred to as pink tetralogy. Patients with TOF may experience episodes of extreme cyanosis called tet spells often during times of stress such as crying, dehydration, and fever. If left untreated these hypercyanotic episodes can be fatal. Deletion of the gene on Chromosome 22, (22q11) is often the cause of TOF among other congenital heart defects. Another gene associated with this anomaly is the jagged1 gene, which can be diagnosed through the images of an echocardiogram. On an anterior posterior chest x ray, the heart is shaped boot like. 3 Treatment after birth includes administering prostaglandin E to maintain the ductal patency and pulmonary perfusion. In some cases Blalock Taussig shunt (BT shunt) can be performed to provide adequate pulmonary blood flow to the lung. Surgeries are done over time from neonates to 4 6 months of age. Mortality depends on the severity of TOF. It carries a 35% mortality rate if left untreated in the first year of life and 50% mortality rate in the first three years of life. Genetic testing to look for these mutations can be a viable option ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Knoxville Pedestrian Accidents Knoxville Pedestrian Accidents Attorney When most people think about traffic accidents, they think about collisions between motor vehicles. However, it is estimated that a pedestrian dies every two hours in the United States in a crash related accident. During 2013, 150,000 pedestrians were treated for injuries resulting from traffic crashes and 4,735 pedestrians lost their lives in traffic accidents. In fact, pedestrians are about one and half times more likely to be killed in a traffic accident compared to the occupants of passenger vehicles. Pedestrian deaths have increased significantly in Tennessee since 2012. Why Are Pedestrians More Susceptible To Traumatic Injuries In A Crash? Pedestrians are at a higher risk of death and serious injury in a traffic accident for the same reason motorcyclists and bicyclists are at an increased risk lack of protection. Occupants of a passenger vehicle are protected by the vehicle in a collision. The vehicle takes the majority of the impact; however, a pedestrian receives the full impact of a collision. There is nothing to protect the pedestrian from the force of the impact; therefore, the injuries in a pedestrian accident tend to be deadly or catastrophic. Common injuries in pedestrian accidents include brain injuries, spinal injuries, paralysis, internal bleeding, broken bones, and fractures. • 6. Kurt Vonnegut Research Paper Kurt Vonnegut s works were affected by his dark viewpoint on human existence, that death is inevitable and his lack of trust, but are most well known for his use of black humor to express it. Kurt Vonnegut s most famous books included Slaughterhouse Five, Cat s Cradle, and Breakfast of Champions, but he wrote many others. According to Kurt Vonnegut Jr. , Vonnegut s writing style was considered postmodernism. Postmodernism is the use of choppy, vernacular sentences that go against traditional rules of plot, theme, time, and character development. He demonstrated social myths and viewed the world differently with new ideas and thoughts (5). Cat s Cradle said, [Kurt Vonnegut used] black humor the use of satire and irony to transform serious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kurt Vonnegut is known for his use of black humor and his humorous way of looking at something sad or serious often in his books. Criticism for his most popular book, Slaughterhouse Five, included questions of Vonnegut s Moral Indifference and as Michael Crichton said, [Vonnegut] refuses to say who is wrong... ascribes no blame, sets no penalties ( qtd in Telegan and Hile 269). Similarly, Lev Grossman spoke of Vonnegut saying that his opinion of human nature was low, and that the author was endlessly disappointed in humanity (qtd in Cat s Cradle 70). People even suggested that his frequent repetition of distinctive phrases, use of colloquialisms, and his digressive manner became overused and uninspired over time ( Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. 6). Although he was criticized by some as pessimistic, others observe that aspects of his work counter his gloomy worldview. Vonnegut s humor was loved by his readers, and helped him stand out from other generic works of his time. As Telegan and Hile quote Robert Scholes, [Vonnegut s humor] does not disguise the awful things perceived; it merely strengthens and comforts us to the point where such perception is bearable . Robert Scholes also considered his novel, Slaughterhouse Five, to be an extraordinary success... a book we need to read, and to reread... funny, compassionate, and wise (264). Vonnegut s writing style set him apart from other authors, and also kept more negative criticism off hi back. He received lots of praise from many people for his outstanding, different, and interesting works. Terry Southern wrote in 1963, following the publication of Vonnegut s book Cat s Cradle, to be far more engaging and meaningful other than the melodramatic tripe which most critics seem to consider serious ( Cat s Cradle 69). A set of laws that can be established to eradicate this evil from Pakistan have been elaborated upon in the paper, these proposals include the Trafficking Victim Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), the International Human Right Treaty by the General Assembly, International Criminal Court (ICC), penalty laws for businesses practicing child labor, system to inspect workplaces for child labor and holding employers responsible for the education of the employed children. • 8. Pieter Claesz Still Life A quick glance at the Still Life (1643) by Pieter Claesz (figure 1) reminds me of his Still Life with Oysters and Roemer (1642) (figure 2). The environment looks familiar, because they both depicted similar objects against the same wall, the same light source and perhaps the same table. A silver plate with three pieces of oysters, accompanied by a knife on the left, always occupies the middle foreground of the table; behind the plate of oysters is always a gleaming Roemer that is placed on the left across from a piece of bread. I also see pepper spreading out from its newspaper packing, and at the back, a pinch of salt sitting in a metal container while topping the brim. Nevertheless, I feel Hochstraser would stand out and warn me not to be fooled by those fancy objects appearance or underestimate little things value. She would direct me to look at the pepper on the table and think about the labors and lives cost on the way from its homeland to Dutchmen s table. On the one hand, a Dutch merchant would be encouraged by the abundant still life painting to invest in more voyage and goods from Dutch colonies; on the other hand, due to the underestimation of the cost and labor on the importing activity, Dutch people yet never realized the bankruptcy that awaited nearby. Thus, everything is expensive in the Still Life (1643). However, I wondered if the bread has shown traces of getting consumed by someone, then why not everything? I suppose originally there were five oysters presented in the table, but only two were needed and perhaps the pearl was from one of the eaten ones. I suppose the Roemer was filled nearly to the top with liquor yet the consumer only sipped a little out of it. I suppose that the consumer may not even need the pepper and salt, because, as Still Life with Oysters and Roemer (1642) suggests, I did not see pepper gets grinded and salt gets sprinkled on the plate. Then I questioned: if the consumer does not need the salt, why does he/she have it on the table with a luxurious container whose appearance surpasses its function? Although Hochstraser ... • 10. Plato s The Republic And Aristotle Plato s The Republic and Aristotle s The Politics are two classic texts in ancient Greek political thought. Although Plato taught Aristotle, the two philosophers had differing viewpoints on many subjects, one of them being the purpose of political rule. Plato believed that the purpose of political rule is to allow for the manifestation of a just city where both the city and its citizens are in harmony due to a specialization of roles according to individuals natures, whereas Aristotle believed that the purpose of political rule is to create a regime that pursues the common advantage and preserves the political partnership of the city. According to Plato, political rule s purpose is to enforce a certain version of justice. Plato s version of justice is neither Polemarchus idea of doing good to friends and harm to enemies, nor is it Telemarchus idea that justice is the advantage of the stronger (Plato pg. 7 15). Justice in The Republic is adhering to your role in order to secure the good of the whole, and not just the individual. The proper expression of this view of justice results in a city that is harmonious because its individual parts are functioning correctly. In order for the individual citizens in the city to carry out their proper roles, they must be separated into three categories: gold souls, silver souls, and bronze souls. Gold souls individuals are those who are competent to rule; silver souls are guardians who protect the city and also keep watch over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These L shapes varied in direction and size but were the regulating geometries of the plan, in specific the mass and void of the house itself. These L geometries identified the bones of the plan and allowed a rotation within the plan to be revealed and later emphasized. Once the rotation was revealed, groups of Ls were then analyzed, questioned, chosen and emphasized within a new diagram. First, beauty reduces to a universal, excluding its use as a standard. If beauty can be an objective standard, then it also must be particular, in that it can be known. If beauty is understood as an underlying principle, or essence of art that evokes aesthetic emotion where essence is defined by what it is said to be in respect of itself then absent of the predications that describe beauty, such as the accuracy of representation, technical skill, or impressive form, all that remains is beauty evidently. Effects of a large tax increase that Clinton pushed for in his first year are made prominent. For the most part, it fell entirely on upper income taxpayers and the wealthy people in our society. • 26. Resting Membrane Potential Essay The first step of four is called the resting membrane potential, the resting membrane potential is also known as polarized. At this stage no ions move through the voltage gated channels, both sodium and potassium gates are shut. A neuron (which is a specialized cell transmitting nerve impulses) is resting. At resting state, the membrane potential of a neuron is roughly 70mV (millivolts), so the cytoplasmic side (which is the inside) is negatively charged parallel to the outside. All gated Na+ and K+ channels are closed at this stage. A Na+ channel each has two gates, 1 being an activation gate which is closed at rest but swings open when depolarization occurs, the second being and inactivation gate that ceases the channel once swung open. Although for Na+ to enter both gates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where the Na+ channels are inactivating, this allows the K+ gates to swing open. Due to their being a lot more Na+ ions on the outside and the inside the sodium dashes into the neuron first, sodium is a positive charge, so during depolarization the neurons become a lot more positive. As time passes the Na+ channels inactivates allowing the K+ channels to swing open the K+ channels take more time to open, but once they fully have unfortunately, the internal negativity resting membrane is restored to 70mV (Marieb ; Hoehn;, 2010). The fourth and final step is called Hyperpolarization. This is a dramatic change in the cells membrane potential which makes it more negative than the resting membrane potential. It is the complete opposite of depolarization. Hyperpolarization is also considered as a undershoot, due to it dropping below step 1 (resting membrane potential) during the hyperpolarization stage a small amount of K+ channels remain open while the Na+ channels reset, the Na+ channels reset to their original position by changing their shape to further reopen their inactivation gates by closing the activation gates (Marieb ; Hoehn;, ... The Main Features Of Information Management 01 The need to manage information and knowledge within organisations 1.1 Outline the main features of information management Information management (IM) is the collection and management of information from one or more sources and the distribution of that information to one or more audiences; is also particularly critical to businesses that work in conjunction with other businesses, so the two must share information with, or transfer information to, each other. In addition, businesses with more than one department or unit can use the MIS to compile information in one central location, thereby preventing information loss. 1.2 Explain the relationship between data, information and knowledge The relationship between data, information, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowledge can refer to a theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. It can be tacit (as with practical skill or expertise) or explicit (as with the theoretical understanding of a subject); it can be more or less formal or systematic. Botha et al (2008) pointed out that tacit and explicit knowledge should be seen as a spectrum rather than as definitive points. Therefore, in practice, all knowledge is a mixture of tacit and explicit elements rather than being one or the other. The most important distinction within KM is between explicit and tacit knowledge. The overload of data is making knowledge management increasingly more important as it facilitates decision making capabilities; builds learning organizations by making learning routine, and stimulates cultural change and innovation. 1.4 Analyse the benefits that information and knowledge management brings to organisations To get sustainable competitive advantage, the significant role of knowledge management has been explored. It is expressed as follows: 1 = − 2 log10 f  ε 2.51  +  3 .7 D ℜ f      (1) where ε or ks indicates the pipe equivalent roughness, D is the pipe diameter, and ℜ is the Reynolds number. The main characteristic of Equation (1) is that it is implicit. It can be observed that the Darcy Weisbach coefficient appears at both sides in (1), and there is no way of obtaining it solely as a function of known variables. Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The Essay Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The I Function The so called I function which describes the brain s sense of self takes on interesting connotations when discussing phantom limbs and associated phantom pain. The loss of an arm or leg through amputation is not an easy experience to endure, and is even more difficult when the patient begins to feel sensations in their now missing limb. These feelings, sometimes referred to as stump hallucination , is the subjective sensation, not arising from an external stimulus, that an amputated limb is still present (1). Over time, phantom limbs are deemed by the amputee to be overflexed, which causes a cramping pain. The question that arises is, if the inconsistency between the intention of the brain and the perception of the body s actions was to be resolved, could the phantom pain also be eliminated? Several theories have been developed over the years that have attempted to answer this question, most notably by Ronald Melzack and Vilayanur Ramachandran. The earliest hypothesis regarding the cause of phantom limbs and pain was that of neuromas. These were thought to be nodules comprised of remaining nerves located at the end of the stump. These neuromas presumably continued to generate impulses that traveled up the spinal cord to portions of the thalamus and somatosensory domains of the cortex. As a result, treatment involved cutting the nerves just above the neuroma in an attempt to interrupt signaling at each somatosensory level (5). This and other related theories were deemed unsatisfactory because of the fact the phantom pain always returned, indicating that there was a more complex reason. Psychologist Ronald Melzack developed the concept of the neuromatrix and the neurosignature. This idea held that the brain contained a neuromatrix or a network of neurons that analyzed the sensory information and allowed the perception of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Issue of Identity Formation Depicted in Ralph... All of us go though a period of discovery of our identities. The novel Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison, addresses the issue of identity formation by following the efforts of an invisible man in search of his identity. He considers himself to be invisible because people refuse to see him for his individuality and intelligence..The narrator in the novel Invisible Man is invisible to others and to himself because of effects of racism and the expectations of others. This is supported in significant parts of the novel such as the battle royal, his time in the Brotherhood, and the Harlem riot. Ellison also supports his claim when he refers to their dirty ears, the dirt symbolizing the racist trash that has built up in the minds of the white men, affecting their choice not to give the narrator their full attention and respect he deserves as a human being. The narrator shows in the basement that he is truly blind to the white oppression that controls his life. He lets himself be ridiculed by turning into a puppet for the white crowd for entertainment purposes. Still, he holds onto the assumption that if he degrades himself, he will be rewarded in the end. As a result, the narrator does not advance in his journey to find his identity, but rather degrades himself even more and makes himself dependent on other s opinions. Furthermore, the narrator appears invisible to others and to himself during his time as a member of the Brotherhood, an organization that appears in the novel as a euphemism to the Communist Party in real life. He is under the assumption that the Brotherhood recognizes his ideas, his individuality, his intelligence, and soon becomes dedicated and loyal to their cause. Do guns surely lead to crime and violent issues? If so, should governments set restrictive rules for people who own and use the guns, such as provide the mental health reports, and test the shooting skills before purchasing the guns? These questions have been mentioned and discussed over and over again in today s world. We can often hear the news about gun violence, such as a tragic mass shooting somewhere around the world and tons of victims who died from the accident, or husband that shot his wife by accident. Thus, many people, especially people in America, are asking, and even doubting whether or not it is beneficial to own guns at home without a license. In my opinion, I think that owning a gun can be helpful sometimes in some ways, as it can always be the extremely powerful and helpful weapon for self defense, especially when help from the law enforcement officers are not available.
