Research Report On Data Collection
3.1INTRODUCTION
In this chapter, the focus is on the methodology used in the study. It include the data collection, data
source, variables, research design, theoretical research framework, sampling design, test
consideration for data analysis, hypotheses statement and conclusion.
3.2DATA COLLECTION
Data collection involves the process of gathering information and data either from primary or
secondary data. In this study only secondary data is used.
3.2.1 Secondary Data
Secondary data refers to the statistical material which is obtained from someone else records.
Secondary data helped researcher s understanding so as to define problem, formulate research
design and interpret the results. This type of data is generally taken from sources ... Show more

The values can differ at various times for the same objects or person. The variables consist of
dependent and independent.
3.3.1 Dependent Variable
The dependent variable is denoted as variable of primary interest to the researcher as it provides a
measurement of the effect of the independent variables. In this research, foreign direct investment
(FDI) is the designated dependent variable where it indicates the outcome of the change brought
about by changes in the independent variables.
3.3.2 Independent Variables
Independent variables (predictor variables) are the ones that influence the dependent variable and
they explain the variance in dependent variable. In this research, gross domestic product (GDP),
interest rate (IR), exchange rate (ER), inflation rate (IFR), unemployment rate (UR), company tax
(CT) and labour cost (LC) are the independent variables that were used to

Lab Report On Colligative Properties

Lab 11: Keep It Liquid
Introduction
The purpose of this lab was to study colligative properties. These properties are properties that are
affected when a solute is added to a solvent. Thus, the amount is important, not the actual type of
substance, for the colligative properties. A couple types of this property are the freezing point and
boiling point of a substance. (1) The specific property observed in this lab was the freezing point
depression caused by the additives. This is the change in the freezing point between a standard
solvent and said solvent with added solutes. This changes the entropy of the system, making the
properties change somewhat, lowering the freezing point itself with the addition of more solute.
Hence, the term freezing point depression . A similar effect leads me to my hypothesis. Boiling
point elevation is, like freezing point depression, a colligative property. When cooking something
on a stove at higher elevations, salt (a solute) is added to the water in order to enable the water to
go to higher temperatures without boiling. The more salt is added, the higher the temperature is able
to go. Knowing this, it makes sense that the largest amount of solute will lower the temperature of
our chosen solvent, tert butanol, the most.
Method
As stated, our solvent in this lab will be tert butanol. We start by recording the freezing point of this
substance without anything added. Then, we add various

Lehman Brothers was founded by Henry Lehman, and his brothers, Emanuel and Mayer a German
immigrant in Montgomery, Alabama in 1850. Lehman Brothers gained there banking experience
by helping to intermediate funding for the emerging group of retail, industrial, and transportation
giants that were founded in the early 1900 s. Lehman brothers gained popularity and became a well

join hands with leading companies in underwriting securities offerings, giving financial advice and
helping me mergers acquisitions and takeovers.
Under the leadership of Peterson, Lehman brothers saw huge profits and gained recognition
worldwide and had developed offices internationally through acquisitions. They were able to operate
in three main areas of finance which were investment banking, capital markets and client services.
Lehman faced serious problems during the 1980 recession when internal conflict broke out between
the investment bankers and traders. Lehman brothers were financially sound and generated healthy
profits, the trading partners only received a small portion of the profits which they thought was
unfair towards them. Lewis L. Glucksman, a 20 year Lehman veteran and highly successful trader

The Shortage Of Donated Organs And The Issues With The...
Dying painfully in a hospital bed is not the way anyone wants to go. Unfortunately for many
people, it is a reality. Thousands of people a year end up dying while waiting for an organ that
could save their lives. While on the other side of the world, thousands of people die a year, but
from infection when an organis forcefully taken from them to sell on the black market. There are
two sides of the organ donation list, and both can end in death. This paper will discuss the
shortage of donated organs and the issues with the current donation system. It will also discuss the
black market for transplant organs and possible solutions to viable organ shortage. The focus of
this paper will be on transplant kidneys as they are the most desirable organ for buyers and sellers.
In order to be eligible for an organ donation list, you must be in end stage organ failure. This
means that one of the patient s organs has not been working for a while and it is impossible for
them to live without some kind of help or transplant. For many patients, end stage organ failure
can come as a shock even if they have known for months that one of their organs was failing. With
kidneys, this means the patients are put on dialysis if they are not already. Dialysis is a process that
mechanically helps to do the things that the kidneys normally do. This can include filtering waste
and toxins out of the body. Many organs can be transplanted from living and dead donors, including
kidneys, heart, lung,

Similarities Between The Glass Menagerie And A Dolls House
Realism is An attempt to reproduce faithfully the surface appearance of life, especially that of
ordinary people in everyday situations (Kennedy 2081). Realism is shown throughout the two
following plays. The Glass Menagerie is a play written by Tennessee Williams, and it was published
in the year of 1945. The play being compared is A Doll s House, written by Henrik Ibsenit was
published in the year of 1879. In A Glass Menagerie realism is shown through the fact that Tom s
familyis struggling with money. Tom can be seen as the protagonist of the story. Similarly, in A
Doll s House Nora s family was struggling with money up until this year. Nora can be seen as the
protagonist in this story. In A Doll s House the claims given about... Show more content on

is unhappy with her relationship with Herman. I mean that I was just passed from Papa s hands

(Isben 1606). Nora is not happy with where she is in the relationship. She is just being led like
cattle, but she is now leaving so she will not have to deal with it anymore. I m leaving right now
(Ibsen 1606). There are similarities and differences in these aspects between the two plays. Tom
in The Glass Menagerie is also sympathized for, but he is not the center of attention until the end
of the play. Laura and Jim are the center of attention. This is until the audience finds out Jim and
his girlfriend Betty are going to be married the second of June (Williams 1656). The tone in this
play can be seen as gloomy. Not one character in this play has found what they want in life. Tom
wants happiness, his mother wants a good man, and Laura wants a husband to love her. Tom in
The Glass Menagerie wants to better his career and life, and Nora in A Doll s house wants to
better herself and pay back the debt she owes to Krogstad. In the end they both achieve their
goal.In The Glass Menagerie Tom leaves to find a better life for himself, but he is then left with
thinking about his sister and how he did her wrong. Oh, Laura, Laura, I tried to leave you

The Role and Function of the Fool in King Lear
Explore the role and function of В‘The Fool in В‘King Lear The Fool in В‘King Lear is a
William Shakespeare creation. Shakespeare has the ability to reveal a human character with an
exceptional use of language. He allows us to see more than just words on the paper; we re given
a multi dimensional insight into a character. Usually his characters aren t as straight forward as
black or white, they are invariably more complex. Edmund for example, it s easy to present him
as the villain but Shakespeare also shows us a sorry side to him as he attempts an apology before
he dies. Shakespeare has given us concrete images of things that are inexpressible, such as love. To

The Fool also likes to remind Lear that he has not only failed himself but his people too. В‘So
out went the candle and we were left darkling Lear was the light of the state now he has
abdicated the light has gone out and he s let his people down by leaving them in the incapable
hands of his two daughters. Eventually the Fool gets a glimmer of hope back from Lear when
he realises his mistakes. В‘I did her wrong he says about Cordelia. At this point the Fool
switches back to being light hearted as he realises stressing the point would only bring Lear
down. Some critics say The Fool is responsible for pushing Lear over the edge. I like to think it
was necessary for Lear to go through madness so he can truly appreciate the consequences of his
actions. The Fool was helping Lear to В‘see better . Finally Lear s conscience catches up with
him at least to an extent when he says В‘poor fool and knave I have one part in my heart that s
sorry for thee. The Fool s sarcasm is blunt and hard hitting, just like Cordelia s truth was in the
В‘love test . В‘I am better than thou art now I am a fool thou art nothing . The Fool is one of the
Truth tellers in the play. Cordelia and Kent being the other two. However the fool doesn t get
punished for it like the others do. This is mainly due to the way he articulates himself and what
traditionally the role of the fool is. The main role of the fool was to entertain. Yet they

Film Analysis Of Robert Altman s Gosford Park
Set in the 1930s, near the end of the era of domestic service in the U.K, Robert Altman s Gosford
Park through its film design and its usage of heritages spaces and period details examines the
separate worlds upstairs and downstairs of rich society people and their servants at a country
mansion.
Sir William McCordle is a wealthy industrialist turned aristocrat, with a magnificent country state
named Gosford Park in the English countryside, complete with staff. It is a world where
everything runs in order both amongst the bejeweled guests lunching and dining at their
considerable leisure and in the attic bedrooms and stark work stations where the servant s labor for
the comfort of their employers. Whether they like it or not, everyone knows their place. But all is
not as it seems. Part comedy of manners and part mystery, the film is a moving portrait of events
that bridge generations, class, sex, tragic personal history and culminate in a murder.
Ultimately revealing the intricate relations of the above and below stairs worlds with great
clarity, Gosford Park illuminates a society and way of life quickly coming to an end as it is a time
when World War II has not yet started, but the status quo has begun to shift away from the strict
social structure so integral to England for hundreds of years.
There are various elements in the movie which portray Britishness and establish class differences.
In setting the film at a historic country house, the film does

Explainations of the Fog of Fear in Alan Axelrod’s,...
What is fear? Fear can be, and can come from, many things. It can come from everyday life
experiences, such as taking tests in school, or giving a speech in a meeting at work. Or from
things that frighten more people than just yourself. Such as going to war, being in an accident,
or in the midst of a public shooting. In Alan Axelrod s, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership
from FDR , Alan talks about fear, and his points are valid, for fear is like a fog, it can be
overcome, and that mankind has had worse things to fear than what is feared in his writing.
Alan Axelrod makes a very valid point in his text, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from
FDR , when he compares fear to fog. ..fear is not so much the sensation accompanying the
realization of danger, but a fog.. which means that fear is not just something you fear, but instead,
something that clouds your vision. With too much fear, it s all a person can see, they have
nightmares, flashbacks, and other things that make even the small things in life, frightening. Yet,
there are ways to overcome this fog, just like there are ways to overcome the fear itself. Evenso,
Alan Axelrod clearly places a good argument in relating fear to fog.
In, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Axelrod constructs an agreeable altercation
in saying that fear can be overcome. In his writing, Alan Axelrod talks about how Franklin D.
Roosevelt overcame his fear of plio. Having been diagnosed with polio and

Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives
There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based perspectives. The
ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be learned through social
interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with personalities, specifically how the
different personalities adapt to personal and social implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most
researchers of interpersonal communication have look at emotions within our social relationships
using the trait perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at
emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective.
Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of intelligence is
social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being defined as the ability to
understand and manage people. With further research, several subsets were added to this premise.
The subset that is relative to this present research is, emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence
is define as, the recognition and use of one s own and others emotional states to solve problems and
regulate behavior, (Salovey, 1990, p.188). Emotional Intelligence (EI) was conceptualized in the
field of organizational communication.
Within work environments people develop ongoing relationships between themselves and their
colleagues, they become dependent on each other to achieve shared goals, and have to be aware of

Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead And Atlas Shrugged
Ayn Rand was a novelist. She was born in Russia, but didn t like the way society worked there,
so she packed her bags and moved to the States, New York to be exact. She is a widely known
author of many books. Anthem was just one of her creation, others named The Fountainhead

crime, also have an controlled society, and lastly to make sure that nobody looks like an outcast.
First, the rules are in place so that it cuts down crime. Having everyone follow the rules will keep
the crime rates low. Having a lot of laws in place will make it that everyone will act like each
other. Crimes are going to happen in every society, but in this novel, the crimes are lower, because
there are so many rules to prevent crimes that could later occur. Also in this society, there are
punishments, like every society. In Anthem the punishments are more extreme than in a normal
society. The rules are way more strict than in our society. The crime rate in Anthem is lower than in
our society. The reason for that is that the laws that follow makes them act different than we would

Compare And Contrast Baroque And Baroque Music
Romantic and Baroque Music: Two Different Styles Music has been categorized over time in
different periods, each of which have their own characteristics, composers and music style. Two of
those important periods were baroque and romantic, which had left an important musical legacy
though history. The baroque was the period from about 1600 to 1750. It was called one of the best
periods of the musichistory, because there was a huge change from the style of composition from
antique and renaissance music which achieved great expectations about this music. Furthermore,
Baroque music was written by great composers such as Bach, Handel, Rameau and Vivaldi who

First, in the baroque period vocal and instrumental music had the same importance, this allowed that
the composers had a wide range in composition types. Some composers chosen more vocally style
and others preferred the instrumental style, which generated an amount of balance in composition
during this period. In addition, instruments were created with specific features to perform the
baroque music, they presented a sound and form characteristic, they were built to sound full and
rich, but in small type sized, mainly strings instruments. The bow and the technique to play this
kind of music required a careful and distinct method which caused that its texture and timbre were
unique and special for that era. The most representative instruments of baroque period were organ
and harpsichord, however, in most of the compositions of this period strings, woodwinds and brass
instruments were also used by the compositors, and these instruments were important for the
baroque orchestra. Some instruments used in the baroque period were: violin, viola da gamba, lute,
violoncello, oboe, bassoon and trumpet. Moreover, baroque orchestra was characterized as small
number of instrumentalists, and it was form mainly by strings instruments with a few woodwinds
and brass, which gave the colorful contrast in the orchestra, this was called chamber orchestra. On

The Layout Of The Cinerama Dome
The layout of the Cinerama Dome consists of an auditorium, lobby, restrooms, projection rooms,
and storage, see Fig 7. The entrance is located at the centre of the façade and is composed of
glazed aluminum doors. The ticket sales area is located to the right of the main entrance.
Concrete block wing walls enclose the lobby, which are embellished with decorative detailing in
the form of alternating projecting half blocks arranged in a grid pattern (Emerton 2003, P 38).
The exterior is circular in plan and the majority of the exterior surface consists of the domed roof.

Las Vegas Strip Clubs Research Paper
Legendary Las Vegas strip clubs have cemented themselves as one of the most storied
institutions in this city of debauchery and merriment. A city does not deserve a reputation as
being America s Adult Playground without offering a side of eye candy to male visitors. If you
are a Sin City newbie, you might be wondering what the difference between strippers and escorts
is. Visitors in Las Vegas call girls who provide private stripper services *escorts*, and these
ladies come to one s accommodations to perform a private show. These performances differ, in
that they can be personalized to a guy s tastes. Additionally, reputable escort services provide
entertainer bios, so the ideal companion can be selected from a gallery of bombshells with
impressive striptease skills. While you will find eye catching ladies dancing at night inside Vegas
strip clubs, you could possibly be disappointed during daytime hours when clubs are less
patronized. Fewer women are on hand, and the ladies working during the day are not the club s
most lauded entertainers. It is worth noting that the hottest dancers work at night, when clubs are

For starters, they are expensive, and probably more so than in other regions you have visited.
Some Vegas strip club deals include happy hours or no cover charges during the day, but
remember, that is when the least popular dancers work. So the ladies on hand may not be any
more impressive than what you are accustomed to at clubs where you live. Also, the dynamic is
different. In smaller, less touristy cities, dancers strive to establish regulars who come to see them
frequently. Vegas strippers are less motivated to hope for a customer s return because that
happening is so infrequent. Therefore, they work toward garnering a man s attention for as long as
he will have them dance for him in the club, on that particular

Essay On Prenatal Genetic Testing
With the recent advancements in genetic technology, it is now possible for us to recognize and
diagnose defects during the pregnancy stage of development. The Genetic Interest Group (2004)
says, For parents at risk of having a child with a genetic disorder, testing of embryos prior to
implantation or during pregnancyis an important option. There are certain individuals who reject
the idea of prenatal genetic testing simply because they are against the action of abortion;
however, performing genetic testing during the pregnancy stage is still a decision to be made by
the mother. (Gillot, 2001). In speaking of genetic screening for cystic fibrosis, Murray and Cuckle
(1999) boldly state that, The aim of genetic screening for CF is to reduce the birth prevalence of
the disorder. This is primarily achieved by identifying carrier couples that can have prenatal
diagnosisand selective termination of pregnancy. Although there are many implications for prenatal
genetic testing, viewing this from a utilitarian perspective we can see that genetic testing with the
aim of selectively terminating fetuses with disabling but otherwise manageable or curable diseases
is unethical. Furthermore, selective termination from a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Causes Of Gun Violence Essay
Guns and Violence
In discussions of Violence, one controversial issue has been the use of guns and assault rifles. On
the one hand, the NRA argues that a ban on assault rifles will not reduce gun violence. On the
other hand, Judith Miller contends that the second amendment is great but there should be some
kind of ban on assault rifles. My own view is that as long as guns are available there will be gun
violence regardless.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) argues that bans on assault rifles and large ammunition
magazines are misguided and conflict the second amendment. The NRA lists ten reasons of why
we should reject firearms ban on large clips and assault rifles. Some of these reasons include the
fact that all assault rifles are not fully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that more violent crimes are committed with handguns rather than assault rifles is not
stunning at all to me. Handguns are much easier to get a hold of and to sale illegally and assault
rifles are just too big. Also when people think assault rifle they think fully automatic which is not
the case for most assault rifles in the US.
Judith Miller argues that the second amendment gives Americans the right to own guns, but not the
right to own assault rifles. Brings up the Federal Assault Weapons Act of 1994 which banned the
manufacture and sale of semi automatic weapons and magazines. Also the Brady Act which made
you wait five days and you had to have a background check before purchasing a handgun. Although
I agree with Judith Miller to a certain extent, I cannot accept her overall conclusion that assault
rifles should be banned because she gave no kind of statistics about how many deaths or shootings
were done with assault rifles. Only one issue she used was the theater shooting in Colorado. When
there are many other handgun deaths and shooting around the world everyday. Statistically
handguns are more dangerous so why shouldn t they be banned rather than assault

Analysis Of Spotlight
The movie Spotlight is a film based on actual events that tell how a special investigative group
uncover a scandal involving the Catholic Church. The story is set in Boston, Massachusetts in
2001. The story began with a new editor, Marty Baron, joining the team of the Boston Globe.
The story unfolds in a gripping tale of how this group of reporters are able to overcome many
obstacles and tell a story that most likely saved many children from being abused. Marty Baron is
the editor that joins the team and it is clear from the beginning that he is thought to be boring and
an outsider to the city of Boston. They make a references to him being Jewish to infer that he does
not understand their religion or the extent of the importance of Catholicism within their community.
Marty shows us over the course of the movie that he is looking at the bigger picture using the
Larger Truth approach. When he and the Spotlight team discuss the widespread issue of the priests
and how the church was paying off the victim s family, he tells the team that they need to focus first
on the institution not priests . This is also somewhat of a populist approach. He was much more
concerned about how the church was not dealing with the issue and how it was affecting the entire
city. Marty wanted to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strategic Expansion Of The World
LEGO
STRATEGIC EXPANSION IN CHINA
Abstract
LEGO, being one of the leading toy companies in the world, is very well known in Europe and
Americas. As LEGO has recently began accelerate its expansion into Asia, China contains the
largest portion of the company s market share in Asia. Besides, Chinese toy industry is the fastest
growing toy industry in the world. This serves many advantages for LEGO to become bigger in the
region. Therefore, we examined the current situation of the company in China in many different
ways, and eventually brought a strategic solution to the growth of LEGO in China by increasing its
market share.

According to the McKinsey s estimation, the population of Chinese middle class will be 400
million in 2020. Considering the fact the target of LEGO is mainly middle class and every other
wealthier segments, these groups focus mostly on children learning and safety rather than price.
After the abolishment of the one child policy in China, the children population is estimated to boom
in the next decade, while it currently has 223 million children under the age of 14.
Considering the data obtained by PESTEL and Hofstede models, China, as a highly collectivist
country, has huge urban population growth, which is simply justified by the growth in middle
class. Although inflation is a notion that Chinese society lives with, achieving prestige is the main
factor shaping the consumption behavior of the Chinese people. While the labor force capacity of
Chinese major cities poses very beneficial opportunity for the manufacturing plant that LEGO
opened in Shanghai, the legal aspects are hard to deal with in terms of patents and local partnerships.
In the LEGO survey that we gathered 32 Chinese people to participate, while LEGO seems to be a
recognized brand in China, only half of the participants identify LEGO bricks as inexpensive
product. This pushes our product strategy towards a blend of mass customization and luxury. This
situation also sets our pricing strategy in the marketing mix unchanged. Therefore;

Basic Importance Of Physical Fitness

The Importance of Overall Fitness of EMS Personnel
So, what is physical fitness? The definition I tend to use, which also pertains to the EMT in a
physically demanding situation, is old but worth including: Physical fitness is the ability to last,
to bear up, to withstand stress, and to persevere under difficult circumstances where an unfit
person would give up. No one wants to tell a patient in a life threatening state that they have to
catch their breath before they can continue patient care. Beyond the basic definition of physical
fitness, you should be familiar with its three general components: body composition;
cardiorespiratory endurance; and musculoskeletal fitness. These components can be measured
separately, and each assessment will provide information regarding your fitness level in each
specific category. For example, an individual may score well in cardiorespiratory fitness but
poorly in flexibility, or poorly in cardiorespiratory fitness, but well in muscular strength. Bettering
your overall physical fitness improves your ability to perform under physical stress and reduces
your risk of developing chronic lifestyle related diseases, such as diabetes, coronary artery disease
and hypertension. Body composition is used to describe the percentages of fat, bone, water and
muscle in human bodies. Because muscular tissue takes up less space in our

The European Private Equity And Venture Capital Association
The European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA) released its report on the
investment, divestment and fundraising activity in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region
last year at the end of last week. The report shows that 2014 was a robust year for the region, while
some differences in private equityand venture capitalinvestment remained in the region.
Investment in the Region
The Central and Eastern Europe Statistics 2014 report found that capital investment by funds
increased in the region by 66%. Total investment from funds in the region stood at €1.3 billion in
2014. This is a good achievement, especially in the light of the whole of Europe, which only
managed to grow investment by 14%.
Furthermore, CEE was able to increase its share of investment. While the region received 2.2% of
the total European private equity investment in 2013, last year the region attracted 3.2% of total
investment. This was mainly influenced by two very large CEE buyout transactions. Together these
two deals accounted for nearly 40%, or €520 million, of the total investment value in the region.
The specific regions that attracted the most private equity investments were Serbia and the Czech
Republic. Serbia accounted for nearly 25% of total investment value, while the Czech Republic
received around 23% of the regional total. These two countries were closely followed by Poland
and Hungary, with the four countries accounting for 80% of all private equity

The Archetype Of The Noble Savage
What is the Noble Savage? Authors James Fenimore Cooper, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,
Pontiac, and Mary Rowlandson seek to answer to that very question in their respective writings.
Each author has a different take on the Noble Savage some focus more on nobility rather than
savagery, others do the inverse, and some have a good balance of the two. When coupled
together, the varying viewpoints lend themselves to paint a great picture of what the Noble Savage
truly is: a complex archetype. After examining each of the works by the authors, I have concluded
that the two aspects which make up the Noble Savage nobility and savagery are found in how they
carry themselves, how they live, how they go about killing and why, and ultimately how they feel...

First, let us examine just how the Noble Savage kills. In Rowlandson s Narrative, she depicts so
much death. Throughout the Narrative, the Noble Savage is said to have burned houses,
knocked many people on the head, chopped people on the head, stripped and split open some
who they knocked on the head, and all the while the Noble Savages would have roared, sung,
ranted, and insulted (Rowlandson 127 129). Now, the reason the Noble Savage kills is hinted at
in The Last of the Mohicans, but it is made explicitly clear in Pontiac s Speech at Detroit.
Ultimately, it comes down to the Noble Savage s hatred for the white man; he/she feels that the
white man has corrupted his/her people s way of

Title: Explain why companies use competitive bidding and explain the advantage of using it.
Introduction
In the modern businesses, selecting the qualified suppliers becomes more and more important
activities for the companies. Lots of companies use the method of competitive bidding, which is
commonly used for selecting suppliers. Transparent procurement method in which bids from
competing contractors, suppliers, or vendors are invited by openly advertising the scope,
specifications, and terms and conditions of the proposed contract as well as the criteria by which
the bids will be evaluated [1]. In this essay, I will try to explain the reason and the advantage of the
companies using competitive bidding.

The buyer controls the selection completely. It means the buyer s position is more positive and
more powerful.
ASL upgrade
The buyer commonly sends their contract to the existing supplier. It is very difficult for the other
qualified suppliers or small sellers to be noticed by the buyer. Competitive bidding can introduce
more potential suppliers into the AVL. There are more options for the buyer.
Win win relationship
Competitive bidding is easy to acquire the win win relationship between the buyers and bidders.
Both two sides satisfy the product price, and good for them to form the long term relationship.
Better information
Competitive bidding can produce the up to date development and value of the product.
Transparency
Transparent competitive bidding can make a fair bidding environment for all suppliers. No matter
the large suppliers or small suppliers, both of them have an opportunity to chase the contracts,
awarding the contract with competitive price.
Conclusion
Competitive bidding is the more efficient method for selecting qualified suppliers. It is base on the
quotation from potential suppliers to determine the final suppliers. The competitive prices conduce
to the buyer getting more options and reducing purchasing costs. It helps the buyer and supplier to
establish the win win relationship, which may be developed into

The Negro Artist And The Racial Mountain

Prof: Justin Gammage

Hughes s The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain (1926)
The article The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain by Hughes (1926), the author shows a
situation that the African Americans felt underestimated for being black and attempted to
embrace whites culture. This was because white people looked down on them during that era.
He shows this by expressing his disappointment with a statement made by one of the most
promising of the young Negro poets who says that, I want to be a poet not a Negro poet,
meaning behind that, I want to be white. (Par 1) He wanted to be white so that his artwork would
be better accepted. Not only this young Negro wanted to be white for him to be uplifted in the
society, but also some other black people wanted to be white as well for them to be estimated and
respected.
According to Hughes, this statement of denying being black was the mountain standing in the way
of any true Negro art in America this urge within the race towards whiteness, the desire to pour
racial individuality into the mold of American standardization, and to be a little Negro and as
much American as possible. (Hughes, Para. 1). This wants to tell us how many blacks artists, felt
it was necessary to be white in order for themselves and their work to be accepted and recognized.
Hughes also talks about the state of the African Americanfamilies of that period. In his second
paragraph, he says that, Negro middle

Essay On Copernicus
Nicolaus Copernicus started out as just an ordinary person. In fact, according to today s standards

Order Code RS22814 February 21, 2008 FDA Fast Track and Priority Review Programs Susan
Thaul Specialist in Drug Safety and Effectiveness Domestic Social Policy Division Summary By
statutory requirements and by regulation, guidance, and practice, the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) works with several overlapping yet distinct programs to get to market
quickly new drug and biological products that address unmet needs. FDA most frequently uses three
mechanisms for that purpose: Accelerated Approval, Fast Track, and Priority Review. The first two
affect the development process before a sponsor submits a marketing application. Accelerated
Approval allows surrogate endpoints in trials to demonstrate effectiveness and is... Show more

105 115) directed the Secretary to create a mechanism whereby FDA could designate as Fast
Track certain products that met two criteria. First, the product must concern a serious or life
threatening condition; second, it has to have the potential to address an unmet medical need.
Once FDA grants a Fast Track designation, it encourages the manufacturer to meet with the
agency to discuss development plans and strategies before the formal submission of an NDA
/BLA. The early interaction can help clarify elements of clinical study design and presentation
whose absence at NDA/BLA submission could delay approval decisions. However, FDA makes
similar interactions available to any sponsor who seeks FDA consultation throughout the stages
of drug development. A unique option within Fast Track is the opportunity to submit sections of
an NDA/BLA to FDA as they are ready, rather than the standard requirement to submit a complete
application at one time.4 2 Other options fit very limited situations and support shorter times
from idea to approved public use. The Animal Efficacy Rule (21 CFR 314 Subpart I and 21 CFR
601 Subpart H) allows submission of data from animal studies of effectiveness as evidence to
support applications of certain new products when adequate and well controlled clinical studies in
humans cannot be ethically conducted and field efficacy studies are not feasible. The Project

The Style Of Naturalism In White Fang By Jack London
The aim of life was meat. Life itself was meat. Life lived on life. There were the eater and the
eaten. The law was: EAT OR BE EATEN. This quote from author Jack London s novel, White
Fang, portrays the style of naturalism and the theme of natural selection and survival of the
fittest. Jack London was a naturalist writer. He chose a style and theory of representation based
on the accurate depiction of detail; and he held a viewpoint that everything arises from natural
properties and causes. Natural selection is the process in nature by which, according to Darwin s
theory of evolution, organisms that are better adapted to their environment tend to survive longer
and pass on their genetic characteristics or the survival of the fittest. London s fiction work, White
Fang, takes a deeper look into the savagery of the wild, the cruelty of man, and the chance of new
beginnings. White Fang is considered by many to be one of the greatest coming of age novels ever
written.
The setting of White Fang, takes place in Yukon Territory and ends in California. The majority of
the novel is set in what London calls the North. This area is a section of Canada buttressed against
Alaska. The historical significance of this area is that the story occurs during the 1890 s Klondike
Gold Rush. This provides a balancing point between the savagery of the wilderness and civilization,
by examining the violent world of animals and the equally violent world of humans. Jack London
wrote White Fang in the Third person. Third person is a method of storytelling in which the
narrator is aware of the feelings and thoughts of all the characters. Jack London especially used the
Third person method, when tracking the life of the character, White Fang, and aiding the reader to
know the wolf dog s thoughts and feelings.
White Fang is the central character and the protagonist of the story. His mother is, Kiche, and is
known as she wolf. Kiche is half wolf and half dog. She escaped from and Indian camp during a
famine. She mated with One Eye, a full wolf, and White Fang came about. White Fang starts his
life in the wild. He becomes more domesticated as the book goes along but still struggles to be the
fittest and surviving among nature, the

The Ugliness Of Human Nature In Wuthering Heights
Human beings can be truly deranged creatures. Often times they are seen as elevating and putting
themselves on a pedestal. They will treat people who are not the same as them as they are garbage
and worthless. Although it is not their fault to simply put it, it is human nature. More specifically
the ugliness of human nature. The complex characters in Wuthering Heightsare guilty of this. Their
circumstances drive them to do unthinkable things which unfortunately have drastic outcomes.
Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights is a beautifully written novel that shows the ugliness of human
nature as seen through the depiction of toxic relationships, displaying revenge and vengeance in the
differentiation of social class.
The ugliness of human nature is undoubtedly shown through toxic relationships in Wuthering
Heights. They toxicity can be shown through almost every character relationship. The bain of
toxic relationships can be shown right in the beginning of the novel with Hindley and
Heathcliff. They immediately get off on the wrong foot all because one of them chooses to let
their ugliness take over. Hindley is extremely jealous of Heathcliff, ...and is subject to Hindley s
jealousy almost right away (Galt). His jealousy sparks from the fact that his father seems to
favour Heathcliff over him. This does Heathcliff no favours as it causes Hindley to be cruel and
brutal towards him. Infact, on several occasions Hindley can be found almost abusing Heathcliff,
Take my colt, Gipsy, then! said young Earnshaw. And I pray that he may break your neck: take
him, and he damned, you beggarly interloper! and wheedle my father out of all he has. (Bronte 4)
and Off dog! cried Hindley, threatening him with an iron weight used for weighing potatoes and
hay. (Bronte 45). The abuse and hatred that Heathcliff receives from such a young age cause him
to give the same treatment in the other relationships in his life. In Heathcliff s relationship with
Isabella he can be seen showing the same abuse towards her, Heathcliff seized, and thrust Isabella
from the room; and returned muttering I have no pity! I have no pity! The more the worms writhe,
the more I yearn to crush out their entrails! It is a moral teething; and grind

Advantages Of Extreme Hotel Hacks That You Should Try
Awesome hotel hacks that you should try
Every one of us needs a break from their monotonous life once a while, don t you agree? What
better therapy than a holiday! With a beautiful holiday destination comes the need of booking
hotels. Some of these hotels eat up in your budget and you are forced to compromise on the stay.
Now, how good is a holiday with a compromise? Here are few hacks that can save you some bucks
and also give you a better deal and a comfortable stay.
Make a combo booking
There are many online travel booking sites that offer you a combination like booking a flight and a
hotel. Few sites offer booking of flight, cab as well as a hotel. There are different options and
ranges of flights and hotels that are available on these sites. Depending on the budget and luxury
you need, you can choose your booking. Usually making a combination booking cracks you a
better deal than booking separately. So why spend more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from the basic toiletries, breakfast and Wi Fi, sometimes the bookings made might have
hidden offers that you aren t aware of. This has happened to me before; I had free spa in my
booking and wasn t aware of it, till the end of my stay. It is always best to find out at the reception
about the complimentary items included in your booking and enjoy all that you can.
Apart from these, if you are just planning for a holiday with a budget constraint and flexibility of
dates, then you should plan your trips during the off season. The hotel rates are slashed to a great
extent and you might get a luxurious deal in your budget. Sometimes during season, a similar
chain of hotel might offer you a better rate than the one you are looking at. You can always ask
them if they are ready to match up to the other hotel. This usually works with hotels as they do not
want their business to go down because of their

Wrongful Convictions
Cornelius Dupree Jr.: A Case of Wrongful Conviction.
Written by: Lance Kriete
CJL4037
April 2011
Every year in the United States of America, millions of crimes are committed that violate and harm
the individual rights, properties, and freedoms that are not only guaranteed to American citizens of
this country, but also naturally inherent to mankind as whole. Based on the founding principles of
our country, which are derived from the Constitution of these United States, justice is dealt
accordingly to the perpetrators of these crimes. While this justice is usually fair, due to certain
rights given to those who may be charged with crimes, sometimes an error is made. A simple
mistake, a missing or broken link in the chain that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 26 year old woman, on the other hand, had pointed them out and identified them as the
perpetrators. Dupree was subsequently charged with one count of aggravated robbery and one
count of rape, and put on trial. During litigation, both victims had testified that Dupree was one of
the men who carjacked them in November. Disregarding the fact that the two defendants were not
originally noticed in police lineups by the male victim, and despite the woman s repeated mixing
up of the two defendants identities in court, the jury somehow thought the defense of mistaken
identity was not possible, and thus both men were found guilty of aggravated robbery. The jury
decided to not indict Dupree on charges of abduction or rape because they had felt any further
convictions would not have been very significant; he was already given a sentence of 75 years in
prison. After the initial trial, Dupree s attempts of appealing the decision were rejected three times,
because he would not admit to being a sex offender. Throughout his time in incarceration, Dupree
maintained his innocence; even turning down two opportunities for early parole, because he would
not admit guilt and confess to a crime he did not commit. In 2006, his case was picked up by The
Texas Innocence Project, and by July of 2007, the Innocent Project team requested permission from
the state of Texas to test for DNA evidence from pubic

The Prohibition Of The 18th Amendment
With the 18th amendment passed came about a new era, an era where the government was unable
to enforce the laws. The 18th amendment had banned alcohol creation and consumption. The
reason the amendment was passes was because workers became addicted to liquor ultimately
becoming ineffective workers. The 18th amendment gave young desperate men the chance to make
big money selling liquor. Eventually selling liquor will become the gateway for these men to
becoming gangsters. Through the years of the Prohibition three men would lead the gangster into a
new style of organized crime unseen ever before. Al Capone, Dutch Schultzand Charles Lucky
Luciano became the big three gangsters that led the era into a new direction of organized crime.
Although many gangsters came from an impecunious and or illiterate families, Al Capone s
family was an educated family. His father, Gabriele, was educated and from Naples, where he
had earned a living as a barber. Al Capone had lived in an area where crime did not influenced
him but when he moved he had met John Torrio. John Torrio was a big time gangster at the time
and it was Torrio that would teach Capone how to run a criminal organization. Torrio had
represented a new era of criminal empire, which he would be passing down to Capone.
Torrio had his boss assassinated giving him full power, which he passed down to Capone when he
retired. Capone became crime czar of Chicago, Capone s new position symbolized a new criminal
empire, this

Swot Analysis For Boeing
The Boeing Company SWOT Analysis
1. Strengths
1.1 Global Market Leader
The Boeing Company ( Boeing ) has established itself as the global market leader in the
commercial airplanes industry. It is also one of the two manufacturers in the commercial airline
industry to manufacture 100+ seat airplanes.
As a global market leader, there exists a strong market demand for Boeing s products. In 2013, it
extended its market share leadership with an industry record of 648 deliveries, reaching historic
highs in delivery totals for the 737, 777 and 787 models. Boeing has also managed to secure an
additional 1,355 new net orders in 2013, which extended its record backlog to 5,080 airplanes
worth $347 billion . In 2014, Boeing is estimated to have about 43% share of the commercial
aircraft market and is currently leading Airbus in the number of new commercial airplane orders .
In addition, Boeing has consistently rejuvenated its existing product lines by improving and ... Show

The market liberalization in Europe and Asia is enabling Low Cost Carriers (LCC) to expand
and gain market share, exerting a downward pressure on airfares. In European Airline industry,
the market share of LCC has increased from 17% in 2005 to 23% in 2013 . The LCC capacity on
departing flights grew by 6.8% worldwide from 2012 to 2013. The growth is especially
remarkable in the emerging market, with a growth rate of 17.7% in Middle East and 28.7% in
Asia .In order to survive in this competitive environment, many airlines are turning towards drastic
cost cutting measures such as downsizing their fleet size or their planes or cancelling their existing
airplane orders. The possible slowdown in global demand and potential cancellation in orders for
commercial aircrafts may hurt Boeing s revenues and profit margins in the long

Comparing The Picture Book And Because Of Winn-Dixie
Introduction
This paper focuses on two books, the picture book and realistic novel. I am hopeful while doing
a critical analysis of these two books that it would help me to create an effective mini library in
my future classroom. I would like to use it as a helpful tool to teach children how to compare the
differences and similarities of the two genres and many more. I have chosen Corduroy as my
picture book and Because of Winn Dixie as my realistic novel to write on this written critique
because it signifies the moral lessons about family importance and friendship.
According to Skolnick Skolnick, Family in Transition there are three ways to defined a family.
The first definition is people related by blood, marriage, or adoption and ... Show more content on

She does not have any doubt to buy Corduroy even though he is missing a button on his shoulder
straps. This show that Lisa is willingly accepts Corduroy with or without the missing button. The
word choices are very engaging on every page. It truly allows the children to be imaginative by
reading it or just by looking on the illustrations.
The mother s reaction when she saw Corduroy missing the button abruptly dismisses him. She
directly judges him that he doesn t look new. The statement gives a huge impact of how we view
things, people, and how narrow minded we are of so many things. I know I am guilty about this
and I need myself to be reminded how to be positive when in the worst situation in our life
happened. We should challenge ourselves to do more and to do better act. This would allow us
to show a positive outlook in life for the children. It would help the children to learn to handle
emotions whether it is bad or good. It could also help us to provide the children some good
examples to model ourselves to make them feel that we are all special in every way and that we
are all unique. My view, at that moment Corduroy knew deep down that he wants somebody to
care for him. That is why he is willing to find his missing button.
This makes sense to Corduroy to look around the departments store maybe he could find the
missing button on his shoulder strap. My response on this part is that Corduroy portrays curiosity.
He wants to be accepted and hoping that

  • 3. Lab Report On Colligative Properties Lillian Guttery Matt Chem 1315 011 6/25/2017 Lab 11: Keep It Liquid Introduction The purpose of this lab was to study colligative properties. These properties are properties that are affected when a solute is added to a solvent. Thus, the amount is important, not the actual type of substance, for the colligative properties. A couple types of this property are the freezing point and boiling point of a substance. (1) The specific property observed in this lab was the freezing point depression caused by the additives. This is the change in the freezing point between a standard solvent and said solvent with added solutes. This changes the entropy of the system, making the properties change somewhat, lowering the freezing point itself with the addition of more solute. Hence, the term freezing point depression . A similar effect leads me to my hypothesis. Boiling point elevation is, like freezing point depression, a colligative property. When cooking something on a stove at higher elevations, salt (a solute) is added to the water in order to enable the water to go to higher temperatures without boiling. The more salt is added, the higher the temperature is able to go. Knowing this, it makes sense that the largest amount of solute will lower the temperature of our chosen solvent, tert butanol, the most. Method As stated, our solvent in this lab will be tert butanol. We start by recording the freezing point of this substance without anything added. Then, we add various ... There are two sides of the organ donation list, and both can end in death. This paper will discuss the shortage of donated organs and the issues with the current donation system. It will also discuss the black market for transplant organs and possible solutions to viable organ shortage. The focus of this paper will be on transplant kidneys as they are the most desirable organ for buyers and sellers. In order to be eligible for an organ donation list, you must be in end stage organ failure. This means that one of the patient s organs has not been working for a while and it is impossible for them to live without some kind of help or transplant. For many patients, end stage organ failure can come as a shock even if they have known for months that one of their organs was failing. With kidneys, this means the patients are put on dialysis if they are not already. Dialysis is a process that mechanically helps to do the things that the kidneys normally do. This can include filtering waste and toxins out of the body. Many organs can be transplanted from living and dead donors, including kidneys, heart, lung, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Similarities Between The Glass Menagerie And A Dolls House Realism is An attempt to reproduce faithfully the surface appearance of life, especially that of ordinary people in everyday situations (Kennedy 2081). Realism is shown throughout the two following plays. The Glass Menagerie is a play written by Tennessee Williams, and it was published in the year of 1945. The play being compared is A Doll s House, written by Henrik Ibsenit was published in the year of 1879. In A Glass Menagerie realism is shown through the fact that Tom s familyis struggling with money. Tom can be seen as the protagonist of the story. Similarly, in A Doll s House Nora s family was struggling with money up until this year. Nora can be seen as the protagonist in this story. In A Doll s House the claims given about... I mean that I was just passed from Papa s hands to yours. You arranged everything according to your own taste, and so I had all the same taste s (Isben 1606). Nora is not happy with where she is in the relationship. She is just being led like cattle, but she is now leaving so she will not have to deal with it anymore. I m leaving right now (Ibsen 1606). There are similarities and differences in these aspects between the two plays. Tom in The Glass Menagerie is also sympathized for, but he is not the center of attention until the end of the play. Laura and Jim are the center of attention. This is until the audience finds out Jim and his girlfriend Betty are going to be married the second of June (Williams 1656). The tone in this play can be seen as gloomy. Not one character in this play has found what they want in life. Tom wants happiness, his mother wants a good man, and Laura wants a husband to love her. Tom in The Glass Menagerie wants to better his career and life, and Nora in A Doll s house wants to better herself and pay back the debt she owes to Krogstad. • 9. The Role and Function of the Fool in King Lear Explore the role and function of В‘The Fool in В‘King Lear The Fool in В‘King Lear is a William Shakespeare creation. Shakespeare has the ability to reveal a human character with an exceptional use of language. He allows us to see more than just words on the paper; we re given a multi dimensional insight into a character. Usually his characters aren t as straight forward as black or white, they are invariably more complex. Edmund for example, it s easy to present him as the villain but Shakespeare also shows us a sorry side to him as he attempts an apology before he dies. Shakespeare has given us concrete images of things that are inexpressible, such as love. To articulate a multi faceted view of a person and present it concisely with... В‘So out went the candle and we were left darkling Lear was the light of the state now he has abdicated the light has gone out and he s let his people down by leaving them in the incapable hands of his two daughters. Eventually the Fool gets a glimmer of hope back from Lear when he realises his mistakes. В‘I did her wrong he says about Cordelia. At this point the Fool switches back to being light hearted as he realises stressing the point would only bring Lear down. Some critics say The Fool is responsible for pushing Lear over the edge. I like to think it was necessary for Lear to go through madness so he can truly appreciate the consequences of his actions. The Fool was helping Lear to В‘see better . Finally Lear s conscience catches up with him at least to an extent when he says В‘poor fool and knave I have one part in my heart that s sorry for thee. The Fool s sarcasm is blunt and hard hitting, just like Cordelia s truth was in the В‘love test . В‘I am better than thou art now I am a fool thou art nothing . The Fool is one of the Truth tellers in the play. Cordelia and Kent being the other two. However the fool doesn t get punished for it like the others do. This is mainly due to the way he articulates himself and what traditionally the role of the fool is. The main role of the fool was to entertain. Yet they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Film Analysis Of Robert Altman s Gosford Park Set in the 1930s, near the end of the era of domestic service in the U.K, Robert Altman s Gosford Park through its film design and its usage of heritages spaces and period details examines the separate worlds upstairs and downstairs of rich society people and their servants at a country mansion. Sir William McCordle is a wealthy industrialist turned aristocrat, with a magnificent country state named Gosford Park in the English countryside, complete with staff. It is a world where everything runs in order both amongst the bejeweled guests lunching and dining at their considerable leisure and in the attic bedrooms and stark work stations where the servant s labor for the comfort of their employers. Whether they like it or not, everyone knows their place. But all is not as it seems. Part comedy of manners and part mystery, the film is a moving portrait of events that bridge generations, class, sex, tragic personal history and culminate in a murder. Ultimately revealing the intricate relations of the above and below stairs worlds with great clarity, Gosford Park illuminates a society and way of life quickly coming to an end as it is a time when World War II has not yet started, but the status quo has begun to shift away from the strict social structure so integral to England for hundreds of years. There are various elements in the movie which portray Britishness and establish class differences. In setting the film at a historic country house, the film does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Explainations of the Fog of Fear in Alan Axelrod’s,... What is fear? Fear can be, and can come from, many things. It can come from everyday life experiences, such as taking tests in school, or giving a speech in a meeting at work. Or from things that frighten more people than just yourself. Such as going to war, being in an accident, or in the midst of a public shooting. In Alan Axelrod s, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Alan talks about fear, and his points are valid, for fear is like a fog, it can be overcome, and that mankind has had worse things to fear than what is feared in his writing. Alan Axelrod makes a very valid point in his text, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , when he compares fear to fog. ..fear is not so much the sensation accompanying the realization of danger, but a fog.. which means that fear is not just something you fear, but instead, something that clouds your vision. With too much fear, it s all a person can see, they have nightmares, flashbacks, and other things that make even the small things in life, frightening. Yet, there are ways to overcome this fog, just like there are ways to overcome the fear itself. Evenso, Alan Axelrod clearly places a good argument in relating fear to fog. In, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Axelrod constructs an agreeable altercation in saying that fear can be overcome. In his writing, Alan Axelrod talks about how Franklin D. Roosevelt overcame his fear of plio. Having been diagnosed with polio and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based perspectives. The ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be learned through social interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with personalities, specifically how the different personalities adapt to personal and social implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most researchers of interpersonal communication have look at emotions within our social relationships using the trait perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective. Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of intelligence is social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being defined as the ability to understand and manage people. With further research, several subsets were added to this premise. The subset that is relative to this present research is, emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is define as, the recognition and use of one s own and others emotional states to solve problems and regulate behavior, (Salovey, 1990, p.188). Emotional Intelligence (EI) was conceptualized in the field of organizational communication. Within work environments people develop ongoing relationships between themselves and their colleagues, they become dependent on each other to achieve shared goals, and have to be aware of how their ... Markham College of Central Florida The Importance of Overall Fitness of EMS Personnel So, what is physical fitness? The definition I tend to use, which also pertains to the EMT in a physically demanding situation, is old but worth including: Physical fitness is the ability to last, to bear up, to withstand stress, and to persevere under difficult circumstances where an unfit person would give up. No one wants to tell a patient in a life threatening state that they have to catch their breath before they can continue patient care. Beyond the basic definition of physical fitness, you should be familiar with its three general components: body composition; cardiorespiratory endurance; and musculoskeletal fitness. These components can be measured separately, and each assessment will provide information regarding your fitness level in each specific category. For example, an individual may score well in cardiorespiratory fitness but poorly in flexibility, or poorly in cardiorespiratory fitness, but well in muscular strength. Bettering your overall physical fitness improves your ability to perform under physical stress and reduces your risk of developing chronic lifestyle related diseases, such as diabetes, coronary artery disease and hypertension. The Negro Artist And The Racial Mountain Emmanuel Adamson HUM 312 Prof: Justin Gammage 09/09/2015 Hughes s The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain (1926) The article The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain by Hughes (1926), the author shows a situation that the African Americans felt underestimated for being black and attempted to embrace whites culture. This was because white people looked down on them during that era. He shows this by expressing his disappointment with a statement made by one of the most promising of the young Negro poets who says that, I want to be a poet not a Negro poet, meaning behind that, I want to be white. (Par 1) He wanted to be white so that his artwork would be better accepted. Not only this young Negro wanted to be white for him to be uplifted in the society, but also some other black people wanted to be white as well for them to be estimated and respected. According to Hughes, this statement of denying being black was the mountain standing in the way of any true Negro art in America this urge within the race towards whiteness, the desire to pour racial individuality into the mold of American standardization, and to be a little Negro and as much American as possible. (Hughes, Para. 1). This wants to tell us how many blacks artists, felt it was necessary to be white in order for themselves and their work to be accepted and recognized. Hughes also talks about the state of the African Americanfamilies of that period. In his second paragraph, he says that, Negro middle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Copernicus had only 27 recorded observations in his lifetime though he most likely had more than that. He viewed eclipses, planets, stars, and much more. • 43. The Style Of Naturalism In White Fang By Jack London The aim of life was meat. Life itself was meat. Life lived on life. There were the eater and the eaten. The law was: EAT OR BE EATEN. This quote from author Jack London s novel, White Fang, portrays the style of naturalism and the theme of natural selection and survival of the fittest. Jack London was a naturalist writer. He chose a style and theory of representation based on the accurate depiction of detail; and he held a viewpoint that everything arises from natural properties and causes. Natural selection is the process in nature by which, according to Darwin s theory of evolution, organisms that are better adapted to their environment tend to survive longer and pass on their genetic characteristics or the survival of the fittest. London s fiction work, White Fang, takes a deeper look into the savagery of the wild, the cruelty of man, and the chance of new beginnings. White Fang is considered by many to be one of the greatest coming of age novels ever written. The setting of White Fang, takes place in Yukon Territory and ends in California. The majority of the novel is set in what London calls the North. This area is a section of Canada buttressed against Alaska. The historical significance of this area is that the story occurs during the 1890 s Klondike Gold Rush. This provides a balancing point between the savagery of the wilderness and civilization, by examining the violent world of animals and the equally violent world of humans. Jack London wrote White Fang in the Third person. Third person is a method of storytelling in which the narrator is aware of the feelings and thoughts of all the characters. Jack London especially used the Third person method, when tracking the life of the character, White Fang, and aiding the reader to know the wolf dog s thoughts and feelings. White Fang is the central character and the protagonist of the story. His mother is, Kiche, and is known as she wolf. Kiche is half wolf and half dog. She escaped from and Indian camp during a famine. She mated with One Eye, a full wolf, and White Fang came about. White Fang starts his life in the wild. He becomes more domesticated as the book goes along but still struggles to be the fittest and surviving among nature, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Ugliness Of Human Nature In Wuthering Heights Human beings can be truly deranged creatures. Often times they are seen as elevating and putting themselves on a pedestal. They will treat people who are not the same as them as they are garbage and worthless. Although it is not their fault to simply put it, it is human nature. More specifically the ugliness of human nature. The complex characters in Wuthering Heightsare guilty of this. Their circumstances drive them to do unthinkable things which unfortunately have drastic outcomes. Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights is a beautifully written novel that shows the ugliness of human nature as seen through the depiction of toxic relationships, displaying revenge and vengeance in the differentiation of social class. The ugliness of human nature is undoubtedly shown through toxic relationships in Wuthering Heights. They toxicity can be shown through almost every character relationship. The bain of toxic relationships can be shown right in the beginning of the novel with Hindley and Heathcliff. They immediately get off on the wrong foot all because one of them chooses to let their ugliness take over. Hindley is extremely jealous of Heathcliff, ...and is subject to Hindley s jealousy almost right away (Galt). His jealousy sparks from the fact that his father seems to favour Heathcliff over him. This does Heathcliff no favours as it causes Hindley to be cruel and brutal towards him. Infact, on several occasions Hindley can be found almost abusing Heathcliff, Take my colt, Gipsy, then! said young Earnshaw. And I pray that he may break your neck: take him, and he damned, you beggarly interloper! and wheedle my father out of all he has. (Bronte 4) and Off dog! cried Hindley, threatening him with an iron weight used for weighing potatoes and hay. (Bronte 45). The abuse and hatred that Heathcliff receives from such a young age cause him to give the same treatment in the other relationships in his life. In Heathcliff s relationship with Isabella he can be seen showing the same abuse towards her, Heathcliff seized, and thrust Isabella from the room; and returned muttering I have no pity! Based on the founding principles of our country, which are derived from the Constitution of these United States, justice is dealt accordingly to the perpetrators of these crimes. Dupree was subsequently charged with one count of aggravated robbery and one count of rape, and put on trial. During litigation, both victims had testified that Dupree was one of the men who carjacked them in November. Disregarding the fact that the two defendants were not originally noticed in police lineups by the male victim, and despite the woman s repeated mixing up of the two defendants identities in court, the jury somehow thought the defense of mistaken identity was not possible, and thus both men were found guilty of aggravated robbery. The jury decided to not indict Dupree on charges of abduction or rape because they had felt any further convictions would not have been very significant; he was already given a sentence of 75 years in prison. After the initial trial, Dupree s attempts of appealing the decision were rejected three times, because he would not admit to being a sex offender. Throughout his time in incarceration, Dupree maintained his innocence; even turning down two opportunities for early parole, because he would not admit guilt and confess to a crime he did not commit.
