Analysis Of The Performance Of Microwave
Analysis of the performance of microwave category can be done through the increase or decrease in
the demand between years. The analysis shows that the demand is ever increasing for microwave
category products. The perceived advantage of using microwave foods has increased as the life of
people is becoming more and more complex. The advantages could be summarized as time saving,
greater appeal since it is a gourmet meal and the variety provided. The multi use of the products at any
time of the day in the form of breakfast, dinner, as well as lunch, is the reason for the high appeal of
these products. The use of products from the microwave has drastically increased as the commonality
of the microwave is increased. The customers are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of segmenting and profiling allows better decision making to the ones handling markets
and its differences. The significance is added to the geographic and other variables which make help
differentiate the product in the group of target customers. The differences in consumer preference and
behavior are because of the changes in their perception regarding the features of the product, the usage
dimensions, purchase readiness and the emotional connection with the brand. The point of
equilibrium, i.e. the point where demanded quantity is equal to supplied quantity is given by the
following equation, where QD= Quantity demanded, QS= Quantity supplied QD = 5200 42P + 20PX
+ 5.2I + .20A + .25M QD = 5200 42P + 20*600 + 5.2*5500 + .20*10000 + .25*5000 QD = 42P +
38650 QS = 7909.89 + 79.1P Here, 26770 42P = 7909.89 + 79.0989P Or, P = $286.38 QD is 14742
units Thus, the point of equilibrium is at price of $286.38 and quantity of 14742 units. Given the
scenario, there is the high importance of customer profiling for the purposes of market segmentation.
For this, the identified variables of the profile need to be considered. The target market for the whole
food industry is determined by the target customers, followed by which the market size determination
will occur. Microwave industry is a low cost one, and thus, the survival of this industry depends on the
adequacy of capital and inventory, adequate demand

Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health
Does one s socioeconomic status affect their mental health? Mental health is a broad category that
refers to our mental well being. Mental illness refers to many different conditions that impact our
mood, our emotions, our thinking, and our affect. Depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia are all
examples of mental health conditions. Socioeconomic status (SES) is a term that social scientists use
to capture many different factors. It refers to a person s income level, education, and general position
in society. It s essentially a combined measure of how we re doing. Lower socioeconomic status is
related to higher levels of mental illness. This is known as a negative correlation in research terms. In
other words, as one variable increases, the other decreases. In this case, as SES decreases, the
incidence of mental health issues generally increases. Socioeconomic status (SES) is evaluated as a
combination of factors, including income, level of education, and occupation. It is a way of looking at
how individuals or families fit into society using economic and social measures. Likewise, according
to Psychiatry.org, mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in thinking, emotion or
behavior, or a combination of these. Mental illnesses are associated with distress and/or problems
functioning in social, work or family activities. Mental health is the foundation for thinking,
communication, learning, resilience and self esteem. Mental health is also key to

Policing And Anti-Plagiarism
Why Electronic Policing and Anti Plagiarism Software Should Be Used
College and high school students today have access to a vast amount of information on the internet.
We are no longer limited to the books in the library or outdated encyclopedias for research.
Information is in abundance and at our fingertips. Because of this, students find themselves easily
falling into plagiarism, copying and pasting data without properly citing sources. Some students may
pay to have their essay or research paper written for them. Therefore, it is good to have students work
checked by anti plagiarism software because of advanced technology and ease of accessibility, the
lowering of moral and ethical values of some students, and the basic lack of knowledge ... Show more

Plagiarism has become a serious problem among high school and college students. A lot of this could
be that the attitudes and moral values of students have changed and a high percentage of students do
not worry about being caught. In a recent survey, it is reported that at least 28% of students do not
worry about the potential consequences of plagiarism ( Survey Reveals Unique Insights to US
Students Attitudes Towards Plagiarism ). Some students often claim they did not know they were
doing anything wrong, especially those who claimed to speak a language other than English (Cross).
Of course, with the endless amount of information available on the internet, a student can easily
educate themselves on the proper way to cite an essay. If a student does not choose good morals and
ethics when writing essays, the battle for plagiarism will continue. To avoid further risk of detection,
students will also use paid services that write essays. Even though this method is hard to detect, a
good teacher can notice changes in a student s writing style, which will send a red flag (Cross). If
students continue to lower their moral and ethical values, universities will increase technology to
detect plagiarism. Students should learn to write their own content and develop their skills. Anti
plagiarism software will help deter students from copying from others work without citing (Graham

Information Security and Risk Management
As a growing majority of middle class families fall victim to the economic devastation of the Great
Recession, suffering from prolonged unemployment, depleted job markets and a rising cost of living,
the threat of potential terrorist attacks striking America and its interests seems to have faded into the
proverbial background of our collective consciousness. With a transfer of power from the hawkish
Bush Administration to President Obama and his more diplomatic approach, major media outlets in
print, on television and in the blogosphere, which just a few years ago regaled with patriotic fervor
while espousing the possible peril awaiting the nation, have all but abandoned their coverage of
terrorist activity. This reversal in focus by both individuals and institutions may simply be a natural
response to the reduced capabilities of al Qaeda and other terrorist networks, as confirmed by the
leading authority on terrorism and its effects, and national security analyst for the CNN network, Peter
Bergen, who observed recently that the Obama administration has played a large role in reducing
terrorist threats by continuing and scaling up many of former President George W. Bush s counter
terrorist methods (Bennetch 1). Despite the substantial progress made in the last two years to
decapitate and destroy al Qaeda and its offshoot terrorist organizations, which includes the successful
capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden, lethal drone strikes on senior lieutenants Anwar

Essay Yersinia pestis
Yersinia pestis Bacteria Virulence and Symptoms
Yersinia pestis appeared fairly early in history and is still prevailing today. Humans have come in
contact with this bacterium in massive outbreaks throughout history, including the most famous Black
Death of the 14th century. From the lack of knowledge of the bacteria and its ability to infect
populations rapidly, the human race has suffered immensely. The bacterium is specialized with
specific plasmids, Yersinia outer proteins as well as other toxins that it uses to disrupt the body s
immune response. Through this, Yersinia pestis avoids harm and effectively infects the circulatory
system of its host causing three forms of the plague: Bubonic, Pneumonic and Septicemic. Each form

This rapidly deadly disease, characterized by these certain factors, enable the bacterium to eventually
lead the host into a painful death. 2
The bacteria, Yersinia pestis, is encoded with two specific plasmids that aid in the transfer and survival
of the bacteria, especially in the wild. Both of these plasmids must be present on the bacteria for full
virulence of the organism. The largest of the extrachromosomal elements, with typical strains of ~100
kb, is the Murine toxin plasmid (pFra), a capsule protein. pFra is characterized by two specific factors:
FI capsular protein antigen and YMT. The second plasmid, Pesticin plasmid named pPla after the
plasminogen activator, happens to be the smallest of the plasmids. The bacteriocin (pesticin;Pst) and
the bilanolysin and coagulase activities are found to be connected with one another and aids the
former organism of Yersinia in the invasion of the host from peripheral sites (Carniel 41). After the
bacteria is injected through a bite of the rat flea, Yersinia pestis affects the immune system similar to
the bacterial agent, Bacillis anthracis. By having a Type III secretion system, the bacteria are able to
find a means ? to target virulence factors directly at host cells . The common Yersinia encoded plasmid
molecule, pYV (or pLcr), found on the bacteria specifically aids in the injection of cytotoxic proteins
into the macrophages, preventing the

The Best Probiotics for Children
Probiotics are live organisms such as bacteria and yeasts that are good for a person s health. Although
probiotics occur naturally in your body, there can also be found in food and supplements. Most of us
think of bacteria as a disease causing micro organism, however this is not true about all bacteria
especially probiotics. The health benefits of probiotics are numerous for children. Among other
benefits probiotics have been known to protect against viral infections and prevent allergies.

The Environmental Hazards Of Oily Sludge
AUTONUMLGL INTRODUCTION
The nature of threats to the environment posed by oily wastewater containing hydrocarbons, has led to
it being recognized as hazardous waste. Literature has shown that hydrocarbons contribute to the
greenhouse effect and global warming, deplete the ozone, increase occurrences of cancer and
respiratory disorders, and reduce the photosynthetic ability of plants. In addition, such hazardous
waste is primarily generated at growing rates, by various industries which utilize petroleum products
as energy sources and raw materials. The effective remediation of oily sludge has become a worldwide
problem due to its hazardous nature and increasing production quantity around the world. More

2.1 What is Oily Sludge?
It is worthwhile to examine the various definitions of oily sludge to recognize the multi layered issue
its clean up entails. It is also noteworthy that many definitions of systems engineering describe what it
does and not what it is. This is particularly prevalent in the earlier standards.
The definition that depicts what oily sludge is comprised is as follows: Oily sludge is one of the most
significant solid wastes generated in the petroleum industry. It is a complex emulsion of various
petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs), water, heavy metals, and solid particles.

what real women should look like. The Adore singer discussed the trauma of dressing and acting like
someone she wasn t. I was made to look like someone that I wasn t, which probably caused some body
dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn t on that

The Problem Of Crime Rates
Overview of the Problem I currently the Chief of Police in Savannah, Georgia and the problem that
our city in currently facing is an increase in the crime rate in the city especially in the area of violent
crimes. Violent crime rose 8.8 percent in 2014 over the previous year with robberies and shooting
accounting for most of those crimes. The city reported 32 homicides in 2014, which was two more
than 2013, and the number of rapes increased from 49 to 64 . The City Manager and City Council has
informed me that these numbers are unacceptable and in an effort to control, the rising crime rate I
propose the following measures (McCammon, 2015).
Constraints and Lack of Resources One of the largest constraints due to lack of resources we face in
controlling crime in the Savannah Police Department is the shortage of police officers. On any given
week between the five different precincts there can be a shortage of 50 to 60 officers overall. As a
result, the officers spend most of their time responding to 911 calls and therefore do not have time to
staff their beats or practice crime prevention. This also does not allow them any time to interact with
the public, which is an important part of crime prevention, and it can leave a precinct un patrolled if
they receive as few as three overlapping calls that require a back up as six officers can be all that is
available during a short staff shift. In addition, it results in neglected citizens complaints as it leaves
the officers little

Taxation On Scholarships And Fellowship Grants
Taxation on Scholarships and Fellowship Grants
David Fuelling and his fellow professionals at Florida Tax Advisors are waiting to help students file
their income tax returns. People attending college, no matter their age, will find that there are certain
scholarships and fellowship grants that are taxable. These moneys received for education may be
considered as a form of income, and therefore are subject to taxation just like the wages and earnings
from a job. It is important that these students seek the help of a qualified tax preparer, ensuring that
their taxes are filed correctly.
What is a Scholarship?
Many current and future college students seek the financial aid of scholarship. A scholarship is a
monetary award that is given to a student based upon specifications set forth by the scholarship donor.
The largest benefit to a scholarship is that it is not a loan which must be repaid. Scholarships are given
based upon merit, qualifications, and demographics that are predetermined. Any type of student can
receive a scholarship, they are not given based upon income levels alone. As long as the student shows
an aptitude for a certain subject matter or sport, they may be eligible to win the award.
What is a Fellowship Grant?
Similar to a scholarship, in that there is no requirement for repayment, a fellowship grant is awarded
to the highest achieving students in a particular field. These award moneys are most often associated
with students who are attaining a post

The Indigenous People of Alaska
Alaska is different. When compared to the contiguous United States of America the differences are
pronounced and occur in almost all aspects of life. The differences even extend to the original
inhabitants, to the way they survived, treaties with the United States government, current way of life,
and education. An overview of the historical approach to education as well as the current changes will
hopefully provide insight into what works and what does not work in educational settings in rural
Alaska. Alaska is large. With a land mass of one third the side of the rest of the United States it dwarfs
Texas, the second largest state, by over two and half times. The twenty six smallest states combined
are still smaller than Alaska. Alaska s coastline is over 33,000 miles, many times longer than the
coastline of the remaining United States. Alaska is the most northern, western and eastern state. It is
filled with natural resources. People around the world identify Alaska with the midnight sun, oil fields,
Denali, Salmon and the mighty Yukon. Yet with plenty of resources and all of that room, in 2000, the
population of Alaska was only 710,321 (Alaska, 2014). Combined with Alaska s size this results in a
population density of 1.2 persons per square mile, the least dense of any state. 565,077 of those
710,321 persons residing in Alaska live in one of the four population centers of Anchorage, Fairbanks,
Kenai Peninsula, or Juneau. This leaves less than 150,000 people spread out

William Penn American Hero Essay
Should William Penn be a heroic figure to American history? Throughout British proprietary
colonization of the Americas, there were many different motives for claiming American soil by those
whom were audacious enough to consider the prospect of funding a distant statehood. Penn claimed to
see his colony as a holy experiment (page XIII); who differed from its peers in the respect that it had
intent to provide refuge to those whom faced religious persecution, even so, the devout Quaker,
eventually allowed to fall into a state of neglect and sink to the level of its peers. Ironically the people
of Pennsylvania became so intolerant of other religions, that, not even after four decades, Paralleled

In lay man s terms, all considered Penn one hundred percent English, with no relationship to the
American revolutionaries of the United States whose actions would take place more than a hundred
years after his. While Penn may have claimed his colony to be a holy experiment , his actions
communicated otherwise. When Penn received his charter from Charles II he saw further potential for
and many probable afforded opportunities for personal gain from establishing dominion over
territories over one of the many virgin lands in one of the new worlds. Penn s ledger from the throne
implanted the idea of escaping his own previously established personal debts, as well as enlarging his
overall holdings in real estate and land, especially one not subject to the high taxes and economic cost
which land in mainland England cost at the time. When Penn received his ledger, the idea of
establishing a land of religious tolerance for all those persecuted by those less open minded in the east
seemed a very appealing thought to many. Penn, however, knew that he had a far better chance of
obtaining American real estate than English. He recognized his charter as a means of enlarging his
property holdings and his way out of personals debt (page 122). While Penn s intent of establishing a
land of acceptance and brotherly love may have been apparent

A Discussion Of Constitutional Law And Its Relationship...
A Discussion of Constitutional Law and Its Relationship with Education Education is not explicitly
mentioned in the United States Constitution, but instead, education is one of the powers reserved to
the states. Power not specifically given to the federal government is reserved for the states through the
Tenth Amendment of the Unites States Constitution. Therefore, states have plenary, or absolute, power
in the area of education. While states may hold this reserved power, with regard to education the
federal government has found power through mandates that must be met in order for states to receive
federal funding for education. Texas has one of the longest Constitutions in the nation and reads

Constitution). While not specifically mentioning education, this amendment guarantees that any child
in Texas has the right to free education given to any other child regardless of nationality. The First
Amendment of the U.S. Constitution has been examined extensively with regards to education. Most
notably the clause in the First Amendment, which guarantees the freedom of speech , has been
scrutinized through the judicial system. While students and educators do not shed their constitutional
rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate (Tinker v. Des Moines), in the
educational setting an individual s rights cannot interfere with the schools educational mission. The
U.S. Constitution separates powers between the executive, legislative and judicial branches.
Federalism guarantees that power is shared between national and state governments. The judicial
branch often acts as a referee between the federal and state governments when deciding on issues that

of Texas public schools. Article VII in the Texas Constitution establishes public schools, asylums and
universities. The Texas Constitution guarantees free public education for all students. Public lands are

Essay on Eating Apes by Dale Paterson
Is it right, in the deepest moral sense, for one conscious being to eat another? Throughout Eating
Apes, Dale Peterson takes the readers through what he experienced, saw, and the issues presented with
trying to protect the apes to gear us to answer that question. He was able to do this with the stories of
Karl Ammann, who took the photographs presented in the book, and Joseph Melloh, a gorilla hunter
from Cameroon. Prior to taking this class, my knowledge of apes going extinct went as far as being
aware that we needed to save them from extinction. However, I was unaware of neither how brutal
apes were treated nor how pivotal they were to people in Central Africa s diet until I began reading

As I began to read through the chapters, I realized that Peterson was not shy about the specific details
of how hunters killed apes and what were done to the bodies after. For example, in chapter four,
Peterson describes how they skinned and cooked apes, All soft parts (including the brains) are
quickest to spoil, and therefore will either be cooked and eaten on the spot or transported back to camp
and consumed right away (68). Peterson also discussed how they, cut off the hands and feet (as
typically the most desirable cuts of all) (68). This was only the beginning of many explicit
descriptions Peterson includes to emphasize how apes were killed or what happened to their bodies,
but I think the details served to prove to the readers how little respected and valued apes were. It did
not matter that apes are considered genetically close to humans modern gorilla DNA is 97.7 percent
the same as that of humans and modern chimpanzee and bonobo DNA are about 98.7 percent identical
to humans. Instead, as long as hunters were getting paid and the locals were supplied with food that
was all that mattered. While I thought that Peterson s descriptions sufficed to help the readers see how
apes were treated dead or alive, the pictures were more shocking. Originally, I skipped over the
pictures, but they served to help bring Peterson s words to life. Prior

The real problem comes with the companies that are widely diverse because of the different
combinations of cultures that are being mixed. Also, another problem with diversity in the workplace
is time. Different cultures and societies view time differently, as how many hours employees are
expected to work in a day and how many are spent with family vary. Other cultures work long hours
in a day, but they also take a long lunch break as where others work for an average of eight hours a
day with an average lunch of thirty minutes. With all of the differences that cultures have, it can make
it difficult for a large corporation to be successful and effective, as well as efficient, when managing
the workplace.
The benefits of diversity in the hospitality business are numerous, however. Diversity can bring new
views and perspectives to the table to other workers that they may not have been exposed to it before.
It may not occur to a large group of, for example, middle class white people that there are better
solutions or plans for their workplace because they all might have relatively the same ideals and work
ethics. However, having diverse groups of people could bring those fresh ideas and problem solving to
these workers that may otherwise not occur to them. Especially different ethnicities might, ...offer

60 Minutes Research Paper
60 Minutes is the longest running and most iconic prime time news program in television history.
Since first airing in 1968, the show has provided viewers with hard hitting, investigative journalism
and stories of national interest on a near regular basis for nearly five decades. Read on to learn more
about 60 Minutes, and keep an eye out for part two of our list, coming soon.
Number Fifteen: The Program Has Been in the Same Time Slot for 40 Years.
After bouncing around time slots for a while, mostly due to FCC programing regulations, CBS
scheduled 60 Minutes for 7 PM on Sunday nights starting in 1975. With the exception of sports
presentations going overtime, it remains in this time slot to this day, making it the longest running
prime time show in history.
Number Fourteen: It Floundered at First, but Now Has the Highest Ratings of Any Prime Time Show
Ever.
News programs were never seen as a big draw during prime time hours when 60 Minutes first began.
For its first three years, CBS wasn t confident that the program could pull in the ratings it needed.
However, after the program s move to Sunday nights and the addition of popular CBS News reporter
Dan Rather, it s ratings steadily improved. In 1976, 60 Minutes was the top watched show on Sunday

Essay Comparing The Story Of An Hour And The Interlopers
The short stories The Story of an Hour and The Interlopers are very different in some ways and very
similar in others. The main character, Mrs. Mallard, in The Story of an Hour received news that her
husband had been killed in a work accident. At first she is distraught, but soon she realizes that she is
free from her bad marriage. Mrs. Mallard, whose health was failing, started dancing and shouting Free

Messier 13 Experience
The first factor my group took into consideration when taking our photographs of Messier 13 was that
it is a deep sky object, which means that it is far away and dim. This meant that our photos needed to
be taken with high ISO and high exposure. Specifically, this meant we needed to follow the first
golden rule which is that our first photo should be taken with a thirty second exposure and the highest
ISO the camera had. Before we actually took the photograph, we had to ensure that the camera was
centered, focused and zoomed on the star provided to us by Dr. Mario De Leo Winkler. The procedure
for this is to first center the star, focus it, zoom in once and then repeat these steps twice more, except
on the last round of steps instead of zooming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We agreed upon this number because it is around twenty five, which is a perfect square number that
the program we used to process them needs a perfect square amount of images to process. We figured
that if a few photographs did not turn out well, we could use the two extra that we took. When we
were finished with our astronomical photos, we moved on to taking our flat images . These flat images
are taken of a white computer screen with the camera moved from manual mode to AV, which decided
exposure time for us, and with the ISO, focus, and amount of photos taken remaining constant. Flat
images are meant to correct for any foreign objects trapped within the camera, fo dust, that may show
up in our final images. This is another point in our session where we ran into trouble because when Dr.
Mario De Leo Winkler asked us about what stays the same when taking flat images, we forgot to
mention that the amount of images taken stays the same. The last thing we had to do was take the dark
images which is done by taking photographs in manual mode with the same exposure, ISO, and focus
as our astronomical

Lifelong Health Benefits of Mandatory Genetic Screenings
Since their development and introduction to the field of medicine more than a century ago, genetic
screenings have become incorporated in many fields of healthcare, including reproductive health and
cancer prevention. Genetic screening is a method of identifying genetic disorders through the study of
an individual s DNA. They can be used to determine predisposition for various disorders such as
Alzheimer s, breast cancer, and sickle cell anemia. Genetic screenings inform individuals about their
state of health and can help them make efficient choices in regard to disease treatments and
prevention; however they have not gone without controversy. Many feel that such screenings can

Despite their benefits for individual and public health, genetic screenings can lead to social stigma
against those with genetic disorders. Since the introduction of mass genetic tests, there has been a
legal debate about whether or not to release information about an individual s screening results. On
one side of the debate are those who argue that the data from genetic screenings can be used to benefit
public health through the development and improvement of treatments and public health policy
(Hodge, 2004). However, a prominent opposing side to this debate has focused on the potential for
social and even ethnic quarantine if the results of screenings are made public (Atkin, 2003). Though
there is a consensus that genetic screening is beneficial in preventing and treating diseases and poor
health, many worry that releasing their results can lead to social stigma for individuals of certain
minorities simply because of their greater susceptibility to certain health problems (Natowicz and
Alper, 1991). Ethnic discrimination has indeed proved to be a legitimate issue in regards to genetic
screenings; for example, in the 1990s several states did not allow African American individuals to wed
until they proved that they did not have sickle cell anemia. Opponents of publicly mandated genetic
screenings fear discrimination against some ethnicities due to their

Cameron Auto Part Essay
Please read Cameron Auto Parts Part (A) and answer those three guideline questions:
1. Should Cameron have licensed McTaggart or continued to export?
After I read this case, I can say that exporting is more profitable to Cameron because they can do
whatever they want at any time. This means that Cameron can earn the profit that it deserves, and it
will be only to itself. In other words, if Cameron continues exporting, it can maintain its independence
to manage better quality products at its own responsibility. Then, in the other side, the cost advantages
will be higher because of the results of the size of the operation and the cost of the unit; what it is a
benefit because in a long term the economies of scale will work to determine better ... Show more

Was McTaggart a good choice for licensee?
Yes, McTaggart was a good choice for license because it will help to make easier implementations.
The reason of this is that McTaggart reduces the financial risk that exporting could involve. Another
point is that as Cameron does not have the resources to capture foreign markets, McTaggart will do it
for less. Finally, Cameron will have patented its process.
As well, it is important to mention that McTaggart has excellent credit score and a reputation of 130
years as a family business that will operate the average factory wage rate for less than in America.
McTaggart will be looking to push sales in United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and India, and
with its actual clients.
3. Was the royalty rate reasonable? Did Cameron leave money on the table?
The royalty rate was too low and it left money on the table. The reason is that if they would have
decided for a higher rate, McTaggart could earn more benefit of it in the case of receive equipment
and training, as it said in the case that it was needed, and Cameron will receive more money because
of the sales that McTaggart could do. This is because McTaggart is already positioned and it has the
product in demand just for sale, and it will help Cameron to save money in duty, freight and insurance
because of the licensing that it will

Traditional Management Styles And Disciplinary Techniques...
If you do that again, you will be in big trouble! This is an exclamation that is heard all around the
world, in many different languages. It is heard in houses, schools, play groups, and many other places.
It is said by parents and teachers alike. The problem with that phrase is the consequence. Alfie Kohn
and Forrest Gathercoal are two experts in classroom management. They both believe that traditional
management styles and disciplinary techniques need some adjustments. One can gather from reading
both Kohn s and Gathercoal s works that there is quite a large amount of sense behind that and schools
really should reexamine these practices. Kohn believes that many of the disciplinary methods used in
today s schools do not create an ethical child. Kohn (2006) tells us, By contrast, ethical sophistication
consists of some blend of principles and caring, of knowing how one ought to act and being concerned
about others. Punishment does absolutely nothing to promote either of these things (p. 29). When
children are disciplined, they will only remember that doing whatever the wrong thing was, has the
effect of discipline. This will impair them later because they may not know why the action was wrong.
It will not teach them right from wrong. Kohn (2006) also talks about coercion. The description used
is, The most basic way to get what you want from someone, assuming you have more power than he
does, is just to make him do it (Kohn, 2006, p. 22). It is argued

The Threat of Love in Totalitarian Regimes as Depicted in...
Love is the foundation and the weakness of a totalitarian regime. For a stable totalitarian society, love
between two individuals is eliminated because only a relationship between the person and the party
and a love for its leader can exist. The totalitarian society depicted throughout the Orwell s novel 1984
has created a concept of an Orwellian society. Stalin s Soviet state can be considered Orwellian
because it draws close parallels to the imaginary world of Oceania in 1984. During the twentieth
century, Soviet Russia lived under Stalin s brutal and oppressive governments, which was necessary
for Stalin to retain power. In both cases, brutality and oppression led to an absence of relationships and
love. This love was directed towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joseph Stalin built up this love with the Cult of Personality . He was glorified with giant statues and
monuments. Stalin appeared daily on the cover of Soviet newspapers; he was in every facet of Soviet
life. Daily visual imagery of Stalin portrayed him as a Georgian peasant, which emphasized socialist
principles of power from the people. In addition, people called him father and teacher of the peoples
(Runyan 66) and a deity, because he replaced the Czar and the Church. These daily images were
engraved in the minds of the people. Thus, the Cult of Personality was flourishing. Propaganda
glorifying Stalin and Soviet ideals brainwashed the minds of Russian people. Stalin successfully
impressed his socialist philosophies on millions of workers and peasants. Over time, socialism
transformed into Stalinism, and it took hold. Stalin was able to hypnotize people towards one belief,
the love of Stalin. A simple cause and effect: they saw imagery of Stalin portrayed heroically everyday
in the news or on posters and they began to idolize him. Stalin is like Big Brother; he was the focus
and with the love and loyalty of his people, he had total power over them and their actions. The
description of Big Brother himself bears a physical resemblance to Stalin and his cult of personality.

A Worn Path By Eudora Welty
In the short story A Worn Path, the author, Eudora Welty uses mythical, religious, and spiritual
symbols as well as the setting to help the reader understand an old African American woman s life.
Welty also uses the symbolism to represent the hardships old woman has faced during the old woman
s life. The old African American woman s name is Phoenix and is on a journey to town as the readers
are taken on journey through her life. Welty also uses fine details and sentence structure in addition to
the symbolism and setting to increase the understanding of her story or change the meaning an object.
Welty uses to symbolism of two mythical creatures to represent a theme in short story, A Worn Path.
During the walk Phoenix recounts seeing a two headed snake (Welty 481). Snakes are used to
symbolize a wide variety of ideas both in literature and mythology. For example the Quetzalcoatl is a
feathered serpent which symbolizes rebirth for some myths of Ancient Mexico and Mesoamerica
(Mursell). Just like the Ancients, Welty uses a snake to represent rebirth in her story as well but her s
is two headed. Welty uses each head to symbolize one of Phoenix s desires. The first head symbolizes
Phoenix s desire to hold on to objects or to habits like trip to town. While the second head represents
Phoenix s desire to be with her grandson. Since Phoenix has two different desires she cannot be reborn
until those desires become one.
Another mythical creature mentioned by Welty is the well known

Effects Of Smoking In Restaurants
Smoking in restaurants
One thousand Americans stop smoking everyday by dying said by anonymous. If smoking is killing
people every day, why would we want someone to poison ourselves with deadly air? When we are in a
restaurant and someone is smoking we are breathing the same air that they are. Even though their lips
are on the cancer stick the same toxins they are breathing in is being released in the air around them.
Without proper ventilation (open fresh air), the people around the light cigarette would be breathing in
those same toxins and poisons, which is second hand smoking. Smoking in a restaurant is not only
harmful to the one smoking but to those around them. Smoking can cause loss of appetite, senses, side
effects from second smoking and most of all the rights of a nonsmoker to not be presented to the
smoke. When going into a restaurant, a person wants to enjoy their meal and time. Especially if they
are going and spending money on the luxury. But did you know that smoking can cause loss of
appetite and loss of senses? When someone is smoking they ingest toxins such as tar and carbine
monoxide, which causes the loss of appetite and senses? So, if someone is going to a restaurant they
want to digest the food and drinks that they plan to order not toxins that causes loss of appetite and
senses. In the book Truth About Smoking , it concludes about the harms of smoking and the harm that
smoking has on the mouth. Smoking causes gum disease, staining and loss of teeth as well as bad
breath. When tar, the solid particles in tobacco smoke that collect in the lungs, mixes with saliva in the
mouth, it coats the teeth. Teeth take on a brownish color, and flat surfaces where the tar can
accumulate can even become black, are all results of smoke staining teeth. Which can also cause wear
on the biting surface of the teeth which leads to teeth decay. With gum disease the gums recede, they
expose the roots of the teeth. The bacteria in the gum pockets don t just attack the tissue of the gums,
they weaken the bone and the connective tissue that holds the teeth in place. The residue of cigarette
smoke remains on the breath, including the tar particles that stain the teeth. What happens is Saliva

The Social Information Processing Model
I selected this paper because it is relevant to every college aged relationship. According to this article,
intimate partner violence (IPV) is extremely prevalent in early twenties. I believe that everyone in the
college aged cohort has a duty to themselves and their peers to be open to the warning signs of abusive
relationships and keep in mind that IPV can affect anyone. I chose this article in particular because I
wanted to research and become more aware of the different factors that play into IPV. Most research
articles that I have read in the past focus on the social information processing model, whereas this
article has a primary focus on deep rooted issues. From these types of research, prevention and

According to Heyman and Sleps (2002), they discovered something called the cycle of violence
hypothesis. This hypothesis states that children who experience abuse are more likely to not only
experience violence in their future relationships, but are more likely to continue violence as well (as
cited in Gomez, 2011). Feiring and Furman (2000), found that abused children tend get rejected from
their peers and in turn choose intimate partners from deviant peer groups later in life. Neugebauer
(2000), argues that parental maltreatment of children shows even more risk factors of future
aggression in the abused children than socio demographic, cultural, and environmental influences.
Feiring and Furman (2000); Kwong, Bartholomew, Henderson, and Trinke (2003), argued that past
research on the links between child abuse and adult IPV was limited because of research being heavily
biased towards married individuals, even though IPV is much more common in young adults that are
below the average age of marriage. It is crucial to study violence in sexual and romantic relationships
outside of marriage such as dating, cohabiting, and casual relationships in order to gain more insight
into how IPV can be characterized and eradicated (as cited in Gomez, 2011).
There are three theories that help to understand the causes of violence against women and the cycle of
violence hypothesis, such as Heise s (1998) adaptation of

In one of the most often inhospitable environments, with 98% of the land covered in ice, winds

incredibly cold temperatures down to 89 degrees Celsius, continuous daylight during summer, and
storms such as blizzards where winds vary up to 200 kilometres per hour, that arrive rapidly in which

the sea floor which is known as the twilight zone where less light is able to penetrate the surface of the
water. Emperor penguins are also able to hold their breath for approximately 22 27 minutes. Both of
these aspects enable the emperor penguin to stay submerged in the water and locate a source of food
that other penguins cannot. Therefore, both swimming and diving adaptations are vital to the Emperor

How Far A Projectile Travels Based On Its Angle
In this experiment, we are measuring the difference in how far a projectile travels based on its angle.
To use the mathematical model to find this, we must measure the initial velocity and the angle used to
launch the projectile. The independent variables in this case are the initial velocities and the angles,
while the dependent variable is the distance traveled by the projectile.
Not shown above are the cables attaching the projectile launcher to a LabQuest device to allow the
collection of data, which was then connected to a computer to show the data that was collected, and
the hand pump which applies pressure to launch the projectile. The model is not to scale. This setup
was chosen due to the need to measure the distances the projectiles were launched at during each trial.
The marker tape was used to see where the projectile, a small metal ball, landed so that its distance
could be measured easily. The blocker, the case the balls were kept in, had a foam bottom and was
used to prevent the projectiles from bouncing away from the trial area. The projectile launcher was
placed approximately one meter away from the blocker to allow the projectile to travel as far as
needed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Using the LabQuest to measure the velocities the projectiles were launched at helped minimize error.
If the launch speed had been left uncontrolled, the results would have been inconsistent, as the
projectile could have been launched to an unreasonable distance compared to the controlled trials, and
our initial velocities would have been either too high or too low. Keeping our pressure used to launch
at 25 psi and watching the projectile launcher were both critical to achieving consistent

Exit Through The Gift Shop Essay
When watching movies, one can usually decipher what is fake and what is real, as well as, who is
acting and who is not. Whether that be through exaggerated effects, poor acting, or previous
knowledge, one can decide early on if the film being viewed is factual or fabricated. However, Exit
Through the Gift Shop, a film directed by street artist Banksy, has left many viewers unsure if the film
is an authentic documentary or merely a mockumentary. While some elements of the movie contain
truthful content, it can be concluded that the film as a whole is a mockumentary, and just another one
of Banksy s notorious pranks. One of the first giveaways that the film is fake is by Thierry Guetta, the
apparent Los Angeles filmmaker, who is the focal point of the entire documentary. Guetta has a wife
and children in Los Angeles that he leaves for long periods of time over the course of many years. One
would think that his would be struggling to make ends meet on Guetta s virtually non existent salary.

Causes And Effects Of The Indian Ocean Tsunami
When people ask me how it felt, I just say imagine being thrown into a washing machine and someone
pressing on for 10 15 minutes (Crashing Down: A Tsunami Survivor Tells His Story), says Victor
Israelsson, a survivor of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. The Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 was a
massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean erupted into
one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunami was caused by a massive 9.0
earthquake that was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the Earth s tectonic
plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared to the equivalent of
23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in every direction and
displaced the sea floor. The Indian Ocean Tsunami traveled around 300,000 miles to Africa, but still
carried the momentum to kill people and destroy property. Scientists concluded that the tsunami height
was between 9m high along the entire stretch of the coast, the average tsunami height is 3m (10 ft).
The Indian Ocean Tsunami caused waves three times bigger than the average tsunami, the Indian
Ocean Tsunami was the third largest tsunami in the 2000 s. An inverse method is developed to
optimize the seafloor displacement on the fault plane based on the measurements of satellite Jason 1.

The State Of The Art Nature Inspired Metaheuristic Algorithms
The paper reviews the state of the art nature inspired metaheuristic algorithms in optimization,
including the Firefly algorithm, PSO algorithms and ABC algorithm. By implementing them in
Matlab, we will use worked examples to show how each algorithm works. Firefly algorithm is an
evolutionary optimization algorithm, and is inspired by the flashing behavior of special flies called
fireflies in nature. There are some noisy non linear mathematical optimization problems that can be
effectively solved by Metaheuristic Algorithms. Firefly algorithm is one of the new metaheuristic
algorithms for these optimization problems. The algorithm is inspired by the flashing behavior of
fireflies. Firefly Algorithm (FA) is a recent nature inspired optimization algorithm, which simulates
the flash pattern and characteristics of fireflies. It is a powerful swarm intelligence algorithm inspired
by the flashing phenomenon of the fireflies. The optimization results of both PSO and Firefly are
analyzed from the results obtained in Matlab and the results are used to compare both the algorithms.
Index Terms Firefly algorithm, Metaheuristic algorithm, PSO
INTRODUCTION
Most of the conventional or classic algorithms are deterministic. For example, the simplex method in
the linear programming is deterministic. Some deterministic optimization algorithms used the gradient
information, they are called the gradient based algorithms. Firefly is a metaheuristic algorithm that is
inspired by the

School Uniforms Are Inefficient And Unnecessary Summary
In the article , School Uniforms Are Inefficient and Unnecessary, by the American Civil Liberties
Union (ACLU) OF Nevada, the ACLU of Nevada successfully builds an argument in opposition to
institution of uniforms in school by alluding to historical precedents, appealing to patriotism, and
using ethos to foster a sense of solidarity. The ACLU of Nevada wastes no time in starting its
argument as evident in its historical reference during the introductory paragraph. The ACLU of
Nevada argues that the First Amendment, the right to freedom of speech, is granted to every American
citizen and that, students do not shed their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate, an opinion
from the free speech case during the Vietnam war. Additionally, the ACLU of Nevada mentions that as
a result of the case involving the students expressing their free speech rights during the Vietnam war
the, Court set out a framework for dealing with student s free speech rights in school:that students

To make this appeal really affect the reader, ACLU refers to the Constitution, arguably the most
honored American document, and attaches it to the fact that the identity of American is ingrained in
the Constitution, a highly valued standard, and for us to violate it, in the case of a legal minor is not an
American thing to do and may in itself an un American value in our youth. Through this emotional
argument the ACLU of Nevada conveys to its audience that the installment of uniforms in our
educational institutions id not only wrong, but that it goes against the American identity. As a result
when the reader reads this portion, they will not only be against uniforms because they violate the law,
but they will also feel a sense of guilt that arises from the fact they are inferring the American identity
, a would that runs deep and still hurt a lot of

Anne Bradstreet s To My Dear And Loving Husband
Who is Anne Bradstreet? Anne Bradstreet, originally known as Anne Dudley, was a poet born in 1612.
She was married at the tender age of 16, to a graduate of Cambridge University, by the name of Simon
Bradstreet. Bradstreet and her husband would eventually raise eight children after migrating with her
family too, Ipswich, Massachusetts. There she began to write English verse poetry, that her brother in
law would transport back to England without her knowledge. One of the many poems written by
Bradstreet was, To My Dear and Loving Husband , a short poem that allows the speaker to confess her
undying love, value and appreciation for her husband. To My Dear and Loving Husband is a happy
and uplifting poem that leaves its readers feeling encouraged and in love. The poems speaker is the
writer herself. When reading her poem you ll learn that she really values her husband, I prize thy ...

Marriage is a union and in lines 1 4 (2012) Bradstreet writes If ever two were one, then surely we. If
ever man were loved by wife, then thee. If ever wife was happy in a man, Compare with me, ye
women if you can. using the word wife and showing the bond between the two. She s telling her
readers that her husband s love is compensation, but it s so much that she could never repay
(Bradstreet, 2012). Essentially, to them, their marriage is so perfect it s like they re one being
(Bradstreet, 2012). Now that s a special kind of love. Now, the theme of death isn t exactly in the
poem per say, but the speaker s choice of words could create that feel. That when we live no more, we
may live ever. (Bradstreet, 2012, line 12) that line there makes it seem like even after they ve passed
on, they ll still be living. Sounds like they re cheating death, huh? No, that s what happens when you
have such a strong love for your significant other. Something that everyone should strive for in their

Christian Science v Morman Essay
Introduction
With the advancements in the study of social sciences, there has been a somewhat parallel growth of
cults which though have their foundations in the original Bible and the Christian teachings, yet one
may observe that the majority of the present day cults not only deny the essential doctrines, they
openly emphasize and present their own personal reinterpretations of the biblical scriptures. The
following paper will present two such cases, those of Christian Science and the Mormons, and strive
to present some of the comparative elements, their beliefs, customs, religious ceremonies and
leadership aspects.
Christian Science Leadership
Founded by a woman named Mary Baker Eddy (1821 1910) in 1879, the cult of Christian Science ...

Christian Science The Customs
Some of the salient customs of the Christian Science include a daily prayer ritual which serves to
bring realization of God, and God s Love as well as assist others in experiencing the harmonizing and
healing effect of the primary understanding of the Christian Science. The cult also emphasizes on the
spiritual healing effect and gives more than a mere emphasis as compared to the medical treatment of
the ailing humanity. The cult has nor formal ministers, and instead the Bible, Science and Health are
its pastor and preacher.
With its headquarters in Boston, duly called the First Church of the Christ, Scientist, or The Mother
Church. It is assisted with a number of local churches, which serve as its branches. Run under a
Manual of the Mother Church, the Christian Science has a Board of Directors, which governs the
Church on a democratic system, and is duly assisted by its branches. (Slick, 2003; Kramer, 2004;
Meyer, 1961)
The Mormon Cult Leadership
Founded by Joseph Smith in 1830 in New York, the cult of the Mormons is yet another faith that
derives its teachings from Biblical scriptures. Though most, if not all the elements of this cult are
founded in the original Biblical texts, followers of the Christian belief due to some of the extreme
contradictions and deceptions in both the books of the Mormons as well as its teachings largely
oppose the faith. The cult has some 7 million members, out of 5 million are

  • 3. Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health Does one s socioeconomic status affect their mental health? Mental health is a broad category that refers to our mental well being. Mental illness refers to many different conditions that impact our mood, our emotions, our thinking, and our affect. Depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia are all examples of mental health conditions. Socioeconomic status (SES) is a term that social scientists use to capture many different factors. It refers to a person s income level, education, and general position in society. It s essentially a combined measure of how we re doing. Lower socioeconomic status is related to higher levels of mental illness. This is known as a negative correlation in research terms. In other words, as one variable increases, the other decreases. In this case, as SES decreases, the incidence of mental health issues generally increases. Socioeconomic status (SES) is evaluated as a combination of factors, including income, level of education, and occupation. It is a way of looking at how individuals or families fit into society using economic and social measures. Likewise, according to Psychiatry.org, mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in thinking, emotion or behavior, or a combination of these. Mental illnesses are associated with distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities. Policing And Anti-Plagiarism Why Electronic Policing and Anti Plagiarism Software Should Be Used College and high school students today have access to a vast amount of information on the internet. We are no longer limited to the books in the library or outdated encyclopedias for research. Information is in abundance and at our fingertips. Because of this, students find themselves easily falling into plagiarism, copying and pasting data without properly citing sources. Some students may pay to have their essay or research paper written for them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plagiarism has become a serious problem among high school and college students. A lot of this could be that the attitudes and moral values of students have changed and a high percentage of students do not worry about being caught. In a recent survey, it is reported that at least 28% of students do not worry about the potential consequences of plagiarism ( Survey Reveals Unique Insights to US Students Attitudes Towards Plagiarism ). Some students often claim they did not know they were doing anything wrong, especially those who claimed to speak a language other than English (Cross). Of course, with the endless amount of information available on the internet, a student can easily educate themselves on the proper way to cite an essay. If a student does not choose good morals and ethics when writing essays, the battle for plagiarism will continue. To avoid further risk of detection, students will also use paid services that write essays. Even though this method is hard to detect, a good teacher can notice changes in a student s writing style, which will send a red flag (Cross). If students continue to lower their moral and ethical values, universities will increase technology to detect plagiarism. Students should learn to write their own content and develop their skills. Anti plagiarism software will help deter students from copying from others work without citing (Graham Matheson and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Information Security and Risk Management As a growing majority of middle class families fall victim to the economic devastation of the Great Recession, suffering from prolonged unemployment, depleted job markets and a rising cost of living, the threat of potential terrorist attacks striking America and its interests seems to have faded into the proverbial background of our collective consciousness. With a transfer of power from the hawkish Bush Administration to President Obama and his more diplomatic approach, major media outlets in print, on television and in the blogosphere, which just a few years ago regaled with patriotic fervor while espousing the possible peril awaiting the nation, have all but abandoned their coverage of terrorist activity. This reversal in focus by both individuals and institutions may simply be a natural response to the reduced capabilities of al Qaeda and other terrorist networks, as confirmed by the leading authority on terrorism and its effects, and national security analyst for the CNN network, Peter Bergen, who observed recently that the Obama administration has played a large role in reducing terrorist threats by continuing and scaling up many of former President George W. Bush s counter terrorist methods (Bennetch 1). Despite the substantial progress made in the last two years to decapitate and destroy al Qaeda and its offshoot terrorist organizations, which includes the successful capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden, lethal drone strikes on senior lieutenants Anwar ... Humans have come in contact with this bacterium in massive outbreaks throughout history, including the most famous Black Death of the 14th century. From the lack of knowledge of the bacteria and its ability to infect populations rapidly, the human race has suffered immensely. The bacterium is specialized with specific plasmids, Yersinia outer proteins as well as other toxins that it uses to disrupt the body s immune response. Through this, Yersinia pestis avoids harm and effectively infects the circulatory system of its host causing three forms of the plague: Bubonic, Pneumonic and Septicemic. Each form of ... This rapidly deadly disease, characterized by these certain factors, enable the bacterium to eventually lead the host into a painful death. 2 The bacteria, Yersinia pestis, is encoded with two specific plasmids that aid in the transfer and survival of the bacteria, especially in the wild. Both of these plasmids must be present on the bacteria for full virulence of the organism. The largest of the extrachromosomal elements, with typical strains of ~100 kb, is the Murine toxin plasmid (pFra), a capsule protein. pFra is characterized by two specific factors: FI capsular protein antigen and YMT. The second plasmid, Pesticin plasmid named pPla after the plasminogen activator, happens to be the smallest of the plasmids. The bacteriocin (pesticin;Pst) and the bilanolysin and coagulase activities are found to be connected with one another and aids the former organism of Yersinia in the invasion of the host from peripheral sites (Carniel 41). After the bacteria is injected through a bite of the rat flea, Yersinia pestis affects the immune system similar to the bacterial agent, Bacillis anthracis. By having a Type III secretion system, the bacteria are able to find a means ? to target virulence factors directly at host cells . • 11. The Problem Of Crime Rates Overview of the Problem I currently the Chief of Police in Savannah, Georgia and the problem that our city in currently facing is an increase in the crime rate in the city especially in the area of violent crimes. Violent crime rose 8.8 percent in 2014 over the previous year with robberies and shooting accounting for most of those crimes. The city reported 32 homicides in 2014, which was two more than 2013, and the number of rapes increased from 49 to 64 . The City Manager and City Council has informed me that these numbers are unacceptable and in an effort to control, the rising crime rate I propose the following measures (McCammon, 2015). Constraints and Lack of Resources One of the largest constraints due to lack of resources we face in controlling crime in the Savannah Police Department is the shortage of police officers. On any given week between the five different precincts there can be a shortage of 50 to 60 officers overall. As a result, the officers spend most of their time responding to 911 calls and therefore do not have time to staff their beats or practice crime prevention. This also does not allow them any time to interact with the public, which is an important part of crime prevention, and it can leave a precinct un patrolled if they receive as few as three overlapping calls that require a back up as six officers can be all that is available during a short staff shift. In addition, it results in neglected citizens complaints as it leaves the officers little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People attending college, no matter their age, will find that there are certain scholarships and fellowship grants that are taxable. These moneys received for education may be considered as a form of income, and therefore are subject to taxation just like the wages and earnings from a job. It is important that these students seek the help of a qualified tax preparer, ensuring that their taxes are filed correctly. What is a Scholarship? Many current and future college students seek the financial aid of scholarship. A scholarship is a monetary award that is given to a student based upon specifications set forth by the scholarship donor. The largest benefit to a scholarship is that it is not a loan which must be repaid. Scholarships are given based upon merit, qualifications, and demographics that are predetermined. Any type of student can receive a scholarship, they are not given based upon income levels alone. As long as the student shows an aptitude for a certain subject matter or sport, they may be eligible to win the award. What is a Fellowship Grant? The differences even extend to the original inhabitants, to the way they survived, treaties with the United States government, current way of life, and education. An overview of the historical approach to education as well as the current changes will hopefully provide insight into what works and what does not work in educational settings in rural Alaska. Alaska is large. With a land mass of one third the side of the rest of the United States it dwarfs Texas, the second largest state, by over two and half times. The twenty six smallest states combined are still smaller than Alaska. Alaska s coastline is over 33,000 miles, many times longer than the coastline of the remaining United States. Alaska is the most northern, western and eastern state. It is filled with natural resources. People around the world identify Alaska with the midnight sun, oil fields, Denali, Salmon and the mighty Yukon. Yet with plenty of resources and all of that room, in 2000, the population of Alaska was only 710,321 (Alaska, 2014). Combined with Alaska s size this results in a population density of 1.2 persons per square mile, the least dense of any state. 565,077 of those 710,321 persons residing in Alaska live in one of the four population centers of Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kenai Peninsula, or Juneau. He was able to do this with the stories of Karl Ammann, who took the photographs presented in the book, and Joseph Melloh, a gorilla hunter from Cameroon. Other cultures work long hours in a day, but they also take a long lunch break as where others work for an average of eight hours a day with an average lunch of thirty minutes. Since first airing in 1968, the show has provided viewers with hard hitting, investigative journalism and stories of national interest on a near regular basis for nearly five decades. Read on to learn more about 60 Minutes, and keep an eye out for part two of our list, coming soon. Number Fifteen: The Program Has Been in the Same Time Slot for 40 Years. After bouncing around time slots for a while, mostly due to FCC programing regulations, CBS scheduled 60 Minutes for 7 PM on Sunday nights starting in 1975. With the exception of sports presentations going overtime, it remains in this time slot to this day, making it the longest running prime time show in history. Number Fourteen: It Floundered at First, but Now Has the Highest Ratings of Any Prime Time Show Ever. News programs were never seen as a big draw during prime time hours when 60 Minutes first began. For its first three years, CBS wasn t confident that the program could pull in the ratings it needed. This meant that our photos needed to be taken with high ISO and high exposure. Specifically, this meant we needed to follow the first golden rule which is that our first photo should be taken with a thirty second exposure and the highest ISO the camera had. Before we actually took the photograph, we had to ensure that the camera was centered, focused and zoomed on the star provided to us by Dr. Mario De Leo Winkler. These flat images are taken of a white computer screen with the camera moved from manual mode to AV, which decided exposure time for us, and with the ISO, focus, and amount of photos taken remaining constant. Flat images are meant to correct for any foreign objects trapped within the camera, fo dust, that may show up in our final images. Lifelong Health Benefits of Mandatory Genetic Screenings Since their development and introduction to the field of medicine more than a century ago, genetic screenings have become incorporated in many fields of healthcare, including reproductive health and cancer prevention. Genetic screening is a method of identifying genetic disorders through the study of an individual s DNA. They can be used to determine predisposition for various disorders such as Alzheimer s, breast cancer, and sickle cell anemia. Despite their benefits for individual and public health, genetic screenings can lead to social stigma against those with genetic disorders. Since the introduction of mass genetic tests, there has been a legal debate about whether or not to release information about an individual s screening results. On one side of the debate are those who argue that the data from genetic screenings can be used to benefit public health through the development and improvement of treatments and public health policy (Hodge, 2004). However, a prominent opposing side to this debate has focused on the potential for social and even ethnic quarantine if the results of screenings are made public (Atkin, 2003). Though there is a consensus that genetic screening is beneficial in preventing and treating diseases and poor health, many worry that releasing their results can lead to social stigma for individuals of certain minorities simply because of their greater susceptibility to certain health problems (Natowicz and Alper, 1991). Ethnic discrimination has indeed proved to be a legitimate issue in regards to genetic screenings; for example, in the 1990s several states did not allow African American individuals to wed until they proved that they did not have sickle cell anemia. After I read this case, I can say that exporting is more profitable to Cameron because they can do whatever they want at any time. This means that Cameron can earn the profit that it deserves, and it will be only to itself. In other words, if Cameron continues exporting, it can maintain its independence to manage better quality products at its own responsibility. The reason of this is that McTaggart reduces the financial risk that exporting could involve. As well, it is important to mention that McTaggart has excellent credit score and a reputation of 130 years as a family business that will operate the average factory wage rate for less than in America. • 27. Traditional Management Styles And Disciplinary Techniques... If you do that again, you will be in big trouble! This is an exclamation that is heard all around the world, in many different languages. It is heard in houses, schools, play groups, and many other places. It is said by parents and teachers alike. The problem with that phrase is the consequence. Alfie Kohn and Forrest Gathercoal are two experts in classroom management. They both believe that traditional management styles and disciplinary techniques need some adjustments. One can gather from reading both Kohn s and Gathercoal s works that there is quite a large amount of sense behind that and schools really should reexamine these practices. Kohn believes that many of the disciplinary methods used in today s schools do not create an ethical child. Kohn (2006) tells us, By contrast, ethical sophistication consists of some blend of principles and caring, of knowing how one ought to act and being concerned about others. Punishment does absolutely nothing to promote either of these things (p. 29). When children are disciplined, they will only remember that doing whatever the wrong thing was, has the effect of discipline. This will impair them later because they may not know why the action was wrong. It will not teach them right from wrong. Kohn (2006) also talks about coercion. The description used is, The most basic way to get what you want from someone, assuming you have more power than he does, is just to make him do it (Kohn, 2006, p. 22). It is argued ... The totalitarian society depicted throughout the Orwell s novel 1984 has created a concept of an Orwellian society. Stalin s Soviet state can be considered Orwellian because it draws close parallels to the imaginary world of Oceania in 1984. In addition, people called him father and teacher of the peoples (Runyan 66) and a deity, because he replaced the Czar and the Church. These daily images were engraved in the minds of the people. Thus, the Cult of Personality was flourishing. Propaganda glorifying Stalin and Soviet ideals brainwashed the minds of Russian people. • 30. Effects Of Smoking In Restaurants Smoking in restaurants One thousand Americans stop smoking everyday by dying said by anonymous. If smoking is killing people every day, why would we want someone to poison ourselves with deadly air? When we are in a restaurant and someone is smoking we are breathing the same air that they are. Even though their lips are on the cancer stick the same toxins they are breathing in is being released in the air around them. Without proper ventilation (open fresh air), the people around the light cigarette would be breathing in those same toxins and poisons, which is second hand smoking. Smoking in a restaurant is not only harmful to the one smoking but to those around them. Smoking can cause loss of appetite, senses, side effects from second smoking and most of all the rights of a nonsmoker to not be presented to the smoke. When going into a restaurant, a person wants to enjoy their meal and time. Especially if they are going and spending money on the luxury. But did you know that smoking can cause loss of appetite and loss of senses? When someone is smoking they ingest toxins such as tar and carbine monoxide, which causes the loss of appetite and senses? So, if someone is going to a restaurant they want to digest the food and drinks that they plan to order not toxins that causes loss of appetite and senses. In the book Truth About Smoking , it concludes about the harms of smoking and the harm that smoking has on the mouth. Smoking causes gum disease, staining and loss of teeth as well as bad breath. When tar, the solid particles in tobacco smoke that collect in the lungs, mixes with saliva in the mouth, it coats the teeth. Teeth take on a brownish color, and flat surfaces where the tar can accumulate can even become black, are all results of smoke staining teeth. Which can also cause wear on the biting surface of the teeth which leads to teeth decay. With gum disease the gums recede, they expose the roots of the teeth. The bacteria in the gum pockets don t just attack the tissue of the gums, they weaken the bone and the connective tissue that holds the teeth in place. The residue of cigarette smoke remains on the breath, including the tar particles that stain the teeth. What happens is Saliva washes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Heyman and Sleps (2002), they discovered something called the cycle of violence hypothesis. This hypothesis states that children who experience abuse are more likely to not only experience violence in their future relationships, but are more likely to continue violence as well (as cited in Gomez, 2011). Feiring and Furman (2000), found that abused children tend get rejected from their peers and in turn choose intimate partners from deviant peer groups later in life. Neugebauer (2000), argues that parental maltreatment of children shows even more risk factors of future aggression in the abused children than socio demographic, cultural, and environmental influences. Feiring and Furman (2000); Kwong, Bartholomew, Henderson, and Trinke (2003), argued that past research on the links between child abuse and adult IPV was limited because of research being heavily biased towards married individuals, even though IPV is much more common in young adults that are below the average age of marriage. It is crucial to study violence in sexual and romantic relationships outside of marriage such as dating, cohabiting, and casual relationships in order to gain more insight into how IPV can be characterized and eradicated (as cited in Gomez, 2011). To use the mathematical model to find this, we must measure the initial velocity and the angle used to launch the projectile. The independent variables in this case are the initial velocities and the angles, while the dependent variable is the distance traveled by the projectile. Not shown above are the cables attaching the projectile launcher to a LabQuest device to allow the collection of data, which was then connected to a computer to show the data that was collected, and the hand pump which applies pressure to launch the projectile. The model is not to scale. This setup was chosen due to the need to measure the distances the projectiles were launched at during each trial. The marker tape was used to see where the projectile, a small metal ball, landed so that its distance could be measured easily. The Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 was a massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean erupted into one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunami was caused by a massive 9.0 earthquake that was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the Earth s tectonic plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared to the equivalent of 23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in every direction and displaced the sea floor.
