The Expression Of Aggression And Gender
The Expression of aggression related to gender
Do you know that some people says men and women are equally when they show aggressive
behavior! This change is be more acceptable; especially, after scientists define relational or indirect
aggression that women like to exhibit. However, the old studies believe that men are more likely to be
aggressive. The question is what is the motivation to make people behave aggressively? The
expression of aggression is related to gender because social roles and media influences have a hugely
significant impact on. Social roles in the societies have an extremely profound impact on people deals
between each other ;especially, when we remind the expression of aggression. One of most theories
study the different on aggression behavior between male and female gender is social role theory which
discuss influences of social roles on aggression behavior. According to Bowie (2007), gender tends to
take characteristics that can learned from life experiences rather than come from his/her genetic. Also,
Umberger says that as a part of gender roles, norms serve as an outline of behavior, telling people
what is acceptable and what is not. So, what people learn or act in the society can guide them to
behave aggression differently. Any person may learn to exhibit the aggression since he/she was a kid.
There are causes for this. Parents have a significant influence in their children s behavior. They can
learn them to be more patient or more

The Economic Development Of The Middle East
This economic modernization in the Middle East, could only be a short term success which does not
guarantee the successful and stable economic development of oil rich states and the region as a whole
in the long term. The Middle East, despite its vast reserves of oil, is still considered a developing
region due to the high reliance on oil revenues and rather weak production sector of the economy as
well as due to some political factors such as lack of democracy, corruption, reluctance to the reforms
and other issues. There are various reasons as to why the Middle East is still considered a developing
region despite its oil wealth. Natural resource revenues have also been linked to slow economic
growth rates, inequality, and poverty. One culprit may be Dutch disease, which was discussed earlier.
Other factors may include the volatility associated with commodity prices, which can have especially
negative impacts on weak state economies; and the underdevelopment of agricultural and
manufacturing sectors during boom periods in resource based economies. And even when oil
abundance produces high growth, it often benefits only a few corrupt elites rather than translating into
higher living standards for most of the population. Corruption is one of the economic deficiencies
which can weaken economic growth and development; thus it is considered as an important
impediment to economic growth and political stability, particularly in developing countries. The

Persuasive Essay On Death Penalty
Death Penalty Since the year 1976, around 1,462 people in the United States have been executed by
lethal injection. Practiced in 31 states and abolished in 19 the death penalty has remained a center
stone of debate since its launch in 1976. With so many differing viewpoints, arguments pertaining to
the moral issue, legal considerations and possible alternatives have been left unsettled since. The
ongoing tug of war within these topics slowly tries to chip away at the big question. Should the death
penalty be allowed? Morality and human psychology show up as clear underlining factors when it
comes to crossing the line between life and death. Many believe an eye for an eye form of punishment
is justifiable while others strongly disagree on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their eyes, the death of murders relieves the burning vengeance and pain victims loved ones go
through. Opponents argue against the thought of revenge and any connection it has towards justice or
fulfilling the grief of death. They argue that vengeance only makes things worse and extends the chain
of violence, claiming it has no place in our justice system. Along with moral issues, social unfairness
such as poverty and race have always been woven into concern among the two sides. One argument
touches on the economic state of the convicted and how it affects his/her chances of being executed.
People of poverty don t have the money to hire a good legal representative leaving them with a weak
defense against their crime. I don t know of any affluent people who have been sentenced to death,
said Walter Berns, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. People of
poverty who are given a representative by the state find that often that their defendant is ill
experienced and underpaid. Court appointed death penalty lawyers are paid barely enough to cover
costs, are usually inexperienced, and often don t put up much of a fight, said Stephen Bright, director
of the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta. This imbalance in equity on an economic level
also rings true on an ethnic level through racial bias. In 82% of the studies

Disadvantages Of Deep Learning
Deep Learning which developed as a Machine Learning approach has become very popular nowadays.
It helps in dealing with complex problem with a greater understanding. Traditional Machine Learning
model used to solve problems successfully where final output was a simple function of input data,
whereas Deep Learning can capture composite relations. Deep Learning is basically learning data
representations which is all about making things and presenting to real audiences. In order to master
the various aspects of Deep Learning one requires proficiency of core academic content, critical
thinking, analytical thinking and self directed learning. It consists of mathematical models, which can
be termed as composition of same type of functions wherein some of the functions can be changed so
as to predict the final value. Human computer interactions are based on the belief of ... Show more

Some of these models need input parameter from the user, thus are heuristically designed and hence
performance might depend on characteristic of parameters and input image. Some of the new learning
based methods overcome above problems and give solutions to complex problems. It is for this reason
that deep neural networks have recently seen an impressive comeback. CNN (Convolutional Neural
Network) used in Deep learning for image restoration, works by averaging out the output of various
trained network to the same input. Neural Networks have numerous application in several areas of
image processing. It is used for classifying the image and the mathematical analysis of CNN operates
feature extraction first and then give the results to trainable classifier. This model works by training
the network to reconstruct high quality images from degraded or blurred input images. The model
gives promising results from the learned set of denoisers and also can be used for low level
applications to deliver high performance

Formal Analysis
The painting that I chose to write my formal analysis on is called The Café Terrace on the Place du
Forum, Arles, At Night . This piece was created by Vincent Van Gogh in Arles, France and was
completed sometime in September of 1888. This painting is oil on canvas, and it is currently housed in
the Kroller Muller Museum located in Otterlo, The Netherlands in Europe. This painting depicts a
sidewalk café in France at night. There is a doorway to the front left of the painting that is painted
blue, and is surrounded by a wall that gleams yellow from the outdoor lights. Attached to the wall,
there is a large awning, and it covers the diners and the empty tables that are a part of the café. Above
the awning, there are open window shutters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Color is highly evident in this painting, and helps to draw the viewer s eye to certain places in the
painting. The café is yellow, and adds a boisterous feeling to that section of the piece. The yellow light
spills onto the street and walls of the town, creating bright colors and drawing the eye. The sky and
town use dark colors to illustrate nighttime, although the bright spots of the stars cause the viewer to
look to the sky. The next art element that is demonstrated in this painting is time and motion. The
think strokes of the leaves on the tree make it looks as though a wind is blowing through the streets of
France. The pedestrians in the street demonstrate an element of time and motion because they appear
to have been caught mid stride on the way to their destinations. The server in the café, as well as his
customers, show motion because they are moving and having conversations amongst themselves.
Texture and pattern are very easy to identify in this painting. The street s cobblestones show texture
and pattern in the way that they are arranged. Texture is also demonstrated through the paint strokes
on the buildings, the tree, and even the sky. These thick, uneven strokes add a layer of depth and
texture to all elements of the painting. The final element in The Café Terrace on the Place du Forum,
Arles, At Night that demonstrates time is the stars and darkness that represent nighttime. The deep
colors in the background, compared with the

from one language to another, and translating others work into one s words. Like the famous quote
Translation is the art of failure by Umberto Eco, there were countless controversies over the
translation of written works over centuries, from personal writings to literature. Understandably, there
are no exceptions for the case of bible translation. The history of bible translation began in the 5th
century BCE in Palestine, from Hebrew to Aramaic. There are many factors that affect the content and
structure of the bible when it is translated. One factor is emotional attachment to already familiar
version. Since the group of people revising the bible are Christians themselves, they must have studied
an already existing version for their whole life. This is impossible to ignore and it appears intactly on
their work, like King James Version (KJV) and Revised Korean Version (RKV). Another factor is the
difference in languages. This is important because the structure of language is different from culture to
culture and the meaning it connotes is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Werner Heisenberg s Influence On The World Of Physics
Germany is a country that is filled with the most fascinating inventions that change the views of those
in the world. Multiple physicist have embarked on the creation of these inventions that were created
through multiple theories. Those like the air bag, aspirin, and the automobile were all invented by
german inventors throughout theories that involved physics. These inventions pushed the world s
knowledge to create new age technology that we all are dependent on. Werner Heisenberg was a major
influence to the world of Physics since the beginning of his childhood to the cease of his existence.

neurobiologist and geneticist before his retirement in 2008. A year before Martin Heisenberg was
born, Jochen Heisenberg was welcomed into the family of the Heisenbergs. During his times as a
child, he had also been greatly inspired by his father, Werner Heisenberg, and pursued the occupation
of being a Physicist. Specializing in nuclear physics, Jochen studied multiple points in the make up of
atoms. As described in a Nuclear Science and Engineering course specifically Applied Nuclear
Physics It covers basic properties of the nucleus and nuclear radiations; quantum mechanical
calculations of deuteron bound state wave function and energy; n p scattering cross section; transition
probability per unit time and barrier transmission probability. It also covers binding energy and
nuclear stability; interactions of charged particles, neutrons, and gamma rays with matter; radioactive
decays; and energetics and general cross section behavior in nuclear reactions . During this time,
Jochen Heisenberg was able to study the life of nuclear material and waves that may be a catastrophic
essential that we can use for future energy uses like powering water flow, our homes, cities, maybe
even a whole planet. Furthermore, major theories and achievements may not have been accomplished

Abraham And The Early Journey Of The Formation Of Israel
Introduction
This world was created for a purpose. That purpose was to shine and reflect the majesty of the creator.
Faith is having a confident attitude toward God, involving commitment to His will for one s life and
that His plans are for our best and flow from His love for us. As we read through the Old and New
Testament of the bible we see how the men of God are described living by their faith.
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) ... 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of
these is love.
Body
Though we could look at many of the Bible accounts from Adam to Noah, Noah to Abraham,
Abraham to David or David to Jesus, we will primarily focus on Abraham and the early journey of the
formation of Israel. The same principles can be found in all of these periods. God s promise to
Abraham was he would become the father of many nations. Abraham s obedience to God allow him to
experience the Love of God by trusting God at his word. When God asked Abraham to take Isaac his
son, Genesis 22:2 (NKJV) Then he said, Take now your son your only son Isaac, whom you love and
go to the land Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will
tell you. . Abraham obeyed God and while on the journey Isaac asked Abraham, where the Lamb was
for the sacrifice Abraham answered God will provide and this is where you see Abraham s faith in
God. Works of obedience evidence this faith, which God actually identifies as righteousness. We see

The Pros And Cons Of Cryonics
Cryonics will not be possible in the future. People today view cryonics as unorthodox, but it will be a
matter of is it worth it to spend $200,000 ($400 every year) to have a full body suspension or even
$80,000 for a brain suspension when one may only be partially cognitive(being able to be conscious or
fully aware). With the rapid increase in technology, theoretically, cryonics is possible, but only if we
are talking about a materialistic point of view. The idea is to be able to download a brain onto a
computer. The process is flawed because the cooling of the body damages part of the brain. With the
damaged part of the brain, one could lose personality, knowledge, speech, and many other aspects of
oneself (Harris). From a Christian standpoint, one could argue that it is useless to do such a thing
because why would one want to come back from heaven? From a secular point of view, it seems that
this is the answer to many problems. Immortality, sickness, epidemics, and extinction are all things
that could come about or be prevented.
While the process of downloading one s mind onto a computer seems difficult to understand, one must
know the process of being cryogenically frozen. First, the body must be taken while ... Show more

The Christian point of view would definitely end this possibility of life after life indefinitely. Still, it is
important to understand that God put humans on the earth to have dominion over it. Humans should
try and stretch the limits of science and social norms. Cryonics is definitely a stretch, but many look at
new concepts as impossible. Most major discoveries came from people willing to push the idea of a
better more efficient world. Cryonics is almost indefinitely impossible which in turn, can help one to
focus on other things while humans still exist, such as finding ways now to cure diseases, help the
poor, heal those not only with illnesses but those who need emotional and mental

The Benefits Of Cloud Technology
For many years businesses have relied on Legacy applications, and while stable, these applications
have not allowed the business to grow due to the aging technology. Legacy applications eat up IT
budgets and companies need to and should move away from them as the technology now allows for
cloud storage. The cloud technology industry is set to skyrocket to $389 Billion in New Revenue Over
the Next Five Years. Any budget conscious business should make the move from legacy to cloud and
here are some things to consider when deciding to make the change. The cost of maintaining legacy

Ways of Migrating to the Cloud If you have decided that the move is right for you and your business
then here are some ways to get the process started. Firstly, you might want to consider a completely re
engineering the application you intend to move making it cloud enabled and ready to be used and
serviced on the cloud Secondly, you could consider using a Hybrid model making minimal changes to
the architecture and syncing elements of the application to the cloud Thirdy, Keep your team in the
loop as to changes and provide them with updates and the information needed to use the new
applications. Designate someone to be the point of contact that way they can feel their issues, if any
are being addressed. Fourthly, training is an absolute must, and you should make sure that adequate
time is scheduled to allow all staff members the ability to learn how to use the new tools offered by
the cloud. Lastly, you might consider moving to a SaaS model. Sometimes replacing the identified
application with something that is already available on the cloud is easier than an overhaul of the
application or a hybrid option. If you do decide to make the move then make sure of the vendor you
use before you sign any agreements. The costs of what you are about to embark on are high and as

Breitenfeld Battle Analysis
The small Saxon village of Breitenfeld has long since been absorbed by the city of Leipzig. There isn t
that much to see there. There is no tourism to speak of and even people in the area have only a vague
notion of the importance that their small town once held. In fact, in the fields to the east of the city
was fought a battle that probably decided the direction of European (and thus Western) Civilization.
The battle fought there was not just a clash of armies; it was a collision between religions, a testing
ground for new tactics and a stage for larger than life personalities. An afternoon in September,
1631was all it took for the world to take its present course. BACKGROUND One hundred years

As Pappenheim s defeated formations fell back, the rest of the Imperial cavalry attacked the Saxon
army holding Gustavus left flank. The inexperienced (but apparently well dressed) Saxon infantry,
which was formed into Tercios like their Catholic opponents were routed and fled the field in panic.
Over 3000 of them were cut down by pursuing cavalry. The rout of the Saxons was a massive problem
for Gustavus. This is where his adaptation of the linear formation saved him. In warfare such as this,
the flanks are everything. If your flank is turned then your army must flee in order to avoid
destruction. The Swedes, in their long lines of infantry, were able to pull their expose flank back faster
than the slow moving Imperial Tercios (which had, at this point, not been involved in the attacks) were
able to move around it. In modern terms, Adolphus refused his flank to the enemy. After securing his
battered left flank, Gustavus struck from his right with his cavalry and his well disciplined infantry. It
is worth mentioning the high level of training that the Swedish musketeers. They were trained to load
and fire at a much higher rate than other musketeers of the time. The Swedes were much more
dependent on firepower than other armies of the time and Gustavus attack tore the Imperial Tercios
apart with musket and cannon fire. Sometime after the Swedish counterattack, Gustavus infantry
captured most of the Catholic artillery pieces and because the Swedes were cross trained in other
disciplines, they were able to add the weight of the captured cannons to their own attack. This added
firepower was the last straw for the Catholic forces. They broke and ran for their lives. Thousands
were cut down or captured in the ensuing pursuit (Rickard, 2000). Gustavus Adolphus had his victory
and the world changed

Reflective Essay On Civil Rights
During our time in class, we discussed several themes pertaining to the rights and freedoms of the
LGBTQ community, and spoke at length about some of the landmark cases that helped to give the
community the liberties that they enjoy today. In order to better understand the struggle that the
community had to endure in order to achieve these rights, we will review several different cases and
tie them to things we learned in class, analyzing the roles that they played in achieving progress in
various fields that were once dangers for members of this group. By understanding some of the
landmark legal actions that were made in the quest for equal rights, perhaps then we can more fully
understand the extent of the obstacles that they have overcome. And not all of these cases go in their
favor, either, showing that even at the highest echelons of the American legal system, there have been
and still continue to be significant prejudices which must be faced day in and day out. The most
important step forward in the timeline of LGBTQ rights was the acceptance that homosexual acts
were, in fact, not crimes, and that homosexuals could live in the open without fear of repercussion
from the law. In class, we discussed the case of Bowers v. Hardwick, which upheld the
constitutionality of sodomy laws and effectively criminalized homosexual relations until the 2003 case
of Lawrence v. Texas, which reversed the decision. Just two years after the decision in Lawrence v
Texas came down,

The Between Ancient Chinese And Their Relationships With...
People sceptical of Chinese traditional culture s relevance to modern environmental concerns will
point out that ancient Chinese had no term for nature in, as it were, the David Attenborough sense
nature as what natural historians study, and what TV nature programmes are programmes about. This
does not mean that the Chinese were unable to talk about natural landscapes and wild things, nor that
their concept of nature were without implications for our relationship to nature in this sense. It does
indicate, though, that the Chinese were not wedded to a wilderness ideal and that they did not
emphasis a sharp distinction between the human and nature world.
Leisure in the ancient Chinese study will uncover the relationship between ancient Chinese and their
relationships with nature.
Echoing with the introduction chapter, the definition of leisure in ancient China refers to characters of
both xiu (a person leaning against a tree) and xian (refinement and the purity and peacefulness of
mind). As Shuowen has it, xiu character should depict such as scene also reflects the Chinese
understanding of man s relationship with and their worship of nature .
The concept of leisure contains harmonious relationships between human beings and nature, with
humans being considered part of nature. Thus, we should not want only offend nature, but should take
the reverence of nature to be natural. In ancient times, the Chinese used the term tiandi (heavens and
the earth) to mean nature and

There will also be the need for more input devices which are used while working with computers and
include keyboards, mice, touch pads, cameras among others. A network adapter is also a necessity
since there will be need for internet connection, which either will be wireless or wired. For this type of
business both wireless and wired internet connections will be installed. The wired connection will be a
backup to the wireless connection for speed acceleration. For internet connectivity in the premises
there will be need for Fibre connection between the two businesses and a satellite connection to field
officers (Kroenke, 2013).
Computer software are the codes that are programmed into a computer to control how it works. They
work as a set of instructions that communicate with the computer hardware (Kroenke, 2013). There
are two types, system software and application software. Windows 10 will be the system operating
software for this business. This is because it has the fastest start up and a high speed booting operating
system. It can also be touch enabled which is a plus for the business set up. There will also be virus
protection software; this is vital for all PCs since more computers mean more risks of viruses. For this
business an anti virus will be used because it will help with malware scan and also includes additional
security.

What Would Happen If The Us In Singer By Peter Singer
It is not the responsibility of individuals to help their fellow man. Our resources are dwindling, and
there s no room to share. People and countries should learn to mend their own ways, and with reliance
on others for aid, they won t be able to do that. Garrett Hardin sees the world as a lifeboat. The people
inside of the boat are the rich, and the ones swimming outside of the boat are the poor. The population
of the people in the water is less than that of those in the boat. Hypothetically, there s 50 people in a
boat that s capable of withstanding a maximum capacity of 60. Swimming outside of the boat is 150
others. If the people in the boat were to let everyone on, it would sink; everyone drowns. This is what
would happen if The United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But while it looks easy on paper, it is much harder than it appears. Singer uses unrealistic scenarios to
guilt the reader into donating. For example, he refers to a Brazilian film Central Station. A woman,
Dora, can make $1,000 if she can persuade a homeless 9 year old to follow her to an address, where
the boy is to be adopted by foreigners. She delivers the boy, and buys a new TV set with the money
she has made. Later on the woman learns that the boy has been sold to organ peddlers, and he will
soon be killed. The inference Singer is trying to make is that there s no difference between someone
who sells a child to organ peddlers, and an American upgrading their television set, because both are
ethically wrong due to the fact that the money could have been donated. But is passive selfishness
really on the same level as the direct murder of an innocent child? Despite the fact that the money for
a TV set could save a child s life, it is far different, than the brutal murder of a small boy. The
comparison is simply absurd, and this is not the only time he uses it. In another scenario, a man is on
the train tracks and is torn between saving a child or his Bugatti from a runaway train. The man
throws the switch, redirecting the train and saving his Bugatti. The boy is killed. These two, farfetched
scenarios were used to show that we too have the chance to save a child s life. Writers, politicians,
philosophers, religious leaders, try and guilt you into donating. And according to Singer, those who
choose not to give away their money, are compared to the many Germans who looked away when the
Nazi horrors were being committed, which is another outlandish

The Effects of the New Child Benefits System
Arjun Jairath 120237551 In 2013 changes in child benefits came into effect in the UK. In particular,
child benefit was gradually withdrawn from individuals earning over £50,000 a year and completely
withdrawn for individuals earning more than £60,000 a year. Investigate, using the standard labour
supply model, how this change in benefits will affect labour supply decisions for a single mother with
two children who is able to find work at £30/hour. Assume that she would opt out of maximum
working time regulation in case this becomes relevant. Finally, the measure of income used in the
actual calculation is adjusted net income , which is equal to gross income minus pension contributions
and several other things. For this essay assume that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This looks as follows; As you can see, the income tax function lies on top of the original budget
constraint until it reaches £7,475 of consumption. This is because there is no tax for the initial £7,475
as it is a personal allowance. When an extra £35,000 of income is earned (a total income of £42,475),
the tax of 20% reduces the total income to £35,475 of net adjusted income. When the income is
£90,000 which is the maximum the mother can earn, the income tax reduces her income to £63,990
because of the 40% income tax after £35,000 of income. The curve then kinks away to the left at
£7,475, until it reaches an income of £35,475. At this point the curve kinks with a further decrease in
the gradient until it crosses the y axis at £63,990. The child benefits policy currently allocates £20.30
for the eldest child and £13.40 for any additional child. When this is added to the consumption
function which is adjusted to the current income tax system, the function looks as follows; When
looking at this function, you can see that the income tax curve has been shifted upwards by amount of
£1,752.40. Therefore, the curve crosses the y axis at £67,902.4 and kinks where consumption is
£9,772.4 and £37,252.4. When the changes to the child benefits system are put into place, there is a

Lillian sat on her porch that overlooked a lawn that had suffered the worst of winter. The grass was
still wilting, and the flowers her mother had tried to grow were still hidden underneath the mounds of
soil somewhere. The sun, however, glowed with all of its glory and gleam, its rays seemingly touching
each end of the earth. The impossibly blue sky was clear of any evidence that clouds had trailed that
same sky. Lillian gazed straight ahead on a wooden rocking chair, every so often rocking it backward
and letting it swing her forward again, the motion providing her some comfort. Some. Lillian, do you

What was she doing, wasting away in this rocking chair anyway? And if she stared at the lawn any

same sitting position forever, staring perpetually out into the pit of her own despair. Wait. The

Physics-Bridge Project Essay
Humans have tamed steel, stone, lumber, and even living vegetation, all in effort to reach the people,
places, and things that we desire. Although the concept of bridges is as simple as a tree falling across a
creek, bridge design and construction requires very serious ingenuity. Artists, engineers, and architects
pour vast resources into bridge construction so that they can reshape our daily environment for the
better. When building bridges you ll need help from BATS which are the key structural components of
bridge construction such as beams, arches , trusses, and suspensions. Various combinations of these
four technologies make it possible for numerous bridge designs, ranging from some bridges as simple
as beam bridges, arch bridges, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truss design, which is a variant of a triangle, creates both a very rigid structure and one that
transfers the load from a single point to a considerably wider area. After being used for 2000 years of
architectural use, the arch continues to feature prominently in bridge designs. Its semicircular structure
elegantly distributes compression through its entire form and diverts weight onto its two abutments,
which are the components of the bridge that directly take on the pressure being exerted onto the
bridge. The tensional forces in arch bridges are virtually negligible. That is because the natural curve
of the arch and its ability to dissipate the force outward greatly reduces the effects of tension on the
underside of the arch. The greater the degree of curvature, the greater the effects of tension on the
underside of the bridge. If you build a big enough arch, the tension will eventually overtake the
support of the bridges natural structure. While there is a fair amount in variety in arch bridge
construction, the basic structure of every arch bridge is the same. For example there is Roman,
Baroque and Renaissance which are all architecturally different they all have the same basic structure.
It is the individual arch itself gives its namesake bridge its strength. An arch made of stone doesn t
need a mortar. In fact the ancient Romans built arch bridges and aqueducts that are still standing today
and are made

The Odyssey Obstacles
Overcoming something can be easy or hard, but never impossible. To overcome something that need
to know what we doing thats why learning from our mistakes are good. So if the first time they mess

realized what he needed to do. So he had learned what he needed to do so he do it the next time and
finally achieved what he needed so we should learn from what we have done and fix it so it will be
easier. If we can t overcome the obstacle the first time analyze the mistake and fix it. Everyone can

Sex Discrimination In Health And Social Care
Sex discrimination is relatively self explanatory, in that it refers to discrimination that is based on the
fact that an individual is either a male or female. For example, Cathy work in the social service

work in the planning department which is mainly male, even though both employees work for the
same length of time. Sex discrimination is the most highly developed aspect of the EU social policy

However, there must be evidence of a real risk and measure must be proportionate to that risk. The
ECJ repeatedly held that the health and life of humans rank among the asset and interest protected by
Article 36 TFEU (Steiner, J. Woods, L 2012). It is for the UK and Poland, within the limits imposed

Being and Humans in Heidegger s Letter on Humanism and in his Contributions to Philosophy
ABSTRACT: Heidegger s main question, the question of Being concerning human facticity, struggles
to uncover the original ground to which humans belong, a ground from which modern society tends to
uproot itself through the dominance of calculative and representational thinking. What is most
dangerous for Heidegger about this process is that the original ground of humans and beings in

they truly need. The task of philosophy is to help bring back humans and beings in general to the place

Heidegger s question of Being, is a question which concerns human facticity, i.e. our actual being in
the world in its temporal and enigmatic character. As he stated in the 30s, for him this question arose
out of the experience of the forgetfulness of Being [Seinsvergessenheit] and of the abandonment of
Being in beings [Seinsverlassenheit des Seienden], that is, out of the possibility of not being at all.
With the question of Being, Heidegger struggled to uncover the original historical ground to which
humans belong, a ground from which modern society tends to uproot itself through the dominance of
calculative and representational thinking. What is most dangerous for Heidegger in this process, is that
the original ground of humans and beings in general might be covered and forgotten, to the extent that
humans loose completely the sense of what they truly need. For Heidegger, the task of thinking (of
philosophy) is to help to bring back humans and beings in general to the place to which they originally
belong, i.e. to their originally, most fulfilled way of being which is their proper or own [das Eigene,
eigen].
En own ment or Ap propri ation [Er eign is] is the key word in Heidegger s thinking since the 30s, in
which he attempts to think more originally than metaphysics the relation between Being and

Changing views about Community
The definition of the term community has a long and detailed history, encapsulating concerns of
belonging and identity, time and place, difference and similarity, exclusion or inclusion. There is no
much social literature about this concept before 1910. In 1915, C.J Galpin is the first one who coins it,
offering a clear sociological definition . It was used to demarcate the small rural communities in terms
of service area and trade surrounding a central village. (Harper and Dunham 1959). This first attempt
of defining the community, was quickly followed by various competing definitions. Some of them
described community as a geographical area, others, focused on community as a group of people
living and sharing a particular location, place, while another category, looked at it as a common area
of life. For example, Frazer

Stanislavski s Love For Puppet Theater
Konstantin Sergeyevich Alekseyev (with the stage name Stanislavski ) was born in the large capital
city of Moscow, Russia, in 1863 the year of the January Uprising in the former Polish Lithuanian
Commonwealth against the Russian Empire, which had a significant impact on the economic, political
and social situation in Russia. The following years proved to be a time of crisis for Russia, as the
economy developed extremely slowly compared to the other major nations in Europe. The population
in Russia increased dramatically during this time period, and most people suffered from frightful
economic conditions (including living and working conditions.) Luckily, born to one of the wealthiest
families in Russia during this time period, Stanislavski developed a love for puppet theatre, ballet and
opera, and began to follow in his family s creative footsteps at 14 years old, influenced by his
grandmother (a French actress) and his father (who built a theatre on their property.) He performed
with many acting groups throughout his youth, growing, developing and learning as an actor, and
attended a drama school in hopes of pursuing his dreams. However, he dropped out after only a few

Shocking Bodies Documentary
Bodies Online Video Essay The documentary, Shocking Bodies Exhibition, was published in 2014,
which mainly discusses a plasticized Body Worlds museum that the public can attend at any time and
then further discusses ethical concerns. This documentary was brought about because 20/20 wanted to

Two Ethical Issues Theoretical View Point One ethical issue that stands with the Body Worlds

these bodies are exactly coming from, which also includes the manager who originally obtained these

Life-Cycle Cost Analysis
Life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) is a method for assessing the total cost of facility ownership. It takes
into account all costs of acquiring, owning, and disposing of a building or building system. LCCA is
especially useful when project alternatives that fulfill the same performance requirements, but differ
with respect to initial costs and operating costs, have to be compared in order to select the one that
maximizes net savings. For example, LCCA will help determine whether the incorporation of a high
performance HVAC or glazing system, which may increase initial cost but result in dramatically
reduced operating and maintenance costs, is cost effective or not. LCCA is not useful for budget
allocation.
Lowest life cycle cost (LCC) is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LCCA can be repeated throughout the design process if more detailed cost information becomes
available. Initially, construction costs are estimated by reference to historical data from similar
facilities. Alternately, they can be determined from government or private sector cost estimating
guides and databases. The Tri Services Parametric Estimating System (TPES) contained in the
National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Construction Criteria Base (CCB) developed models
of different facility types by determining the critical cost parameters (i.e., number of floors, area and
volume, perimeter length) and relating these values through algebraic formulas to predict costs of a
wide range of building systems, subsystems, and assemblies. The TPES models can be adapted to
facilities beyond those included in the base modeling system by using SuccessEstimator, a software
package available from U.S. Cost.
Detailed cost estimates are prepared at the submittal stages of design (typically at 30%, 60%, and
90%) based on quantity take off calculations. These estimates rely on cost databases such as the
Commercial Unit Price Book (C UPB) or the R. S. Means Building Construction Cost Database.
Testing organizations such as ASTM International and trade organizations have reference data for
materials and products they test or represent.

The Importance Of Equal Rights In Israel
Since the Zionist movement began in the late 19th century, Jews have been treating the Palestinian
people as a minority and have been pushing them out of Palestine in an effort to create a Jewish state.
In his book Palestine Inside Out: An Everyday Occupation , Saree Makdisi, provides a detailed
account of how Palestinian people living in Israel and its occupied territories are still unable to enjoy
the same rights as Jewish people. He argues that Israel is oppressing the Palestinians and violating
international law by restricting their movement, thereby slowly diminishing the Palestinian s presence
within Israel. Makdisi believes that the only viable option to ensure Palestinians have the same rights
as the Jews is a one state solution, which I am inclined to agree with.
The Israeli government has a bureaucratic process in place that oppresses Palestinians. Several
different international and human rights organizations have submitted that Israel s way of supporting
the Palestinians oftentimes violates international law. Palestinians have an everyday struggle that Jews
do not have to contend with, specifically due to Israel s handling of permits, checkpoints, and zones,
all of which are intended to break up Palestinian areas from each other (p. 29). As will be discussed in
the following paragraphs, Israelis discriminate against Palestinians on a daily basis, grinding down
their hope for peace and equal rights.

In our 21st century reality, new media and technology has transformed, with little resistance, almost
every aspect of daily life; redefining our reality. From plasma screens to monitors to smartphones, we
are constantly face to face with the black screens of our devices, or black mirrors . Canadian professor,
Marshall Mcluhan described media as artificial extensions of sensory existence, ; meaning, each
media technology functions as a prosthetic, working in conjunction with our minds and bodies,
allowing us to perceive more and reshaping our perception of the world (1969). This approach
emphasises the impossibility of fully understanding social and cultural changes in society without
understanding how media works as environments (Griffin, 2011).

To begin with, I really enjoyed the book by the name of Joshua: A Parable For Today , was a great and

The Merchant of Venice Essay
In the comedy, The Merchant of Venice, the roles and responsibilities of women is a significant social
issue proposed by Shakespeare. This theme is communicated by the only three female characters in
the play: Nerissa, Portia and Jessica. For example, in Act 4 during the trial between Antonio and
Shylock, Portia and Nerissa disguise themselves as Balthasar and Bellario to free their friend.
However, Jessica also plays a minor role in portraying the independence of Jewish women in a
Christian and Elizabethan society, by successfully betraying her father, Shylock. These characters

The audience, as well as Bassanio, view Portia as a beautiful, immaculate, aristocratic and fair lady.
However after Act 5, Portia is nothing, but prejudicial and bigoted, as she is the cause of Shylock s
demise and claims that she used my [her] body to punish Bassanio for abusing her gift of love: the
ring. This is ironic, because Portia infringes her relationship with Bassanio by inferring she has
committed an affair, even though she herself accuses him of abusing her love and power by losing the
ring. This implies that relationships in Elizabethan society were corrupt and fake, which allowed many
women in particular to commit religious crimes against their husbands. Furthermore, Shakespeare
additionally uses the theme of deception to convey that women are superior to men. This seen when
Portia tells Nerissa that I [she] have work in hand/ That you yet know of. We ll see our

they could not become active (3.4) in society. By Portia and Nerissa dressing up as Balthasar and

confused and distraught as she got older and she started to realize she was not the so called normal
little girl. She had to learn to except herself before she could tell anyone or most importantly come out
to her parents. As for Anna, I have no personal ties to her. Maeleigh met Anna this year at school; they
both attend Manchester University and play on the softball team. They eventually got together and
developed a relationship. Everything between the two is new and they are learning more about each
others stories and how they dealt with coming out. Coming out is one of the most difficult aspects of
being a lesbian. They have spent an extreme amount of time playing out in their minds how to tell this
news to their parents. The scariest part, both have said, would have to be the thought of being rejected
by their families. Maeleigh had known she was different from everyone since she was in 5th grade.
She began to find herself having crushes on girls rather than boys. She said in 5th grade she was
terrified, not knowing why she felt this way. Not knowing the reasons why she felt

Studies In Paul s Letter To Philippians Summary
The letter to the Philippians has been the subject of historical criticism in relation to its contemporary
authors and philosophers. In Studies in Paul s Letter to the Philippians , Hans Dieter Betz scrutinizes
five segments from the letter to the Philippians to examine scholastic interpretations and to suggest a
new interpretation regarding its literary genre as preparation for death(praemeditatio mortis).
Hans Dieter Betz is a German American scholar of the New Testament and Early Christianity. He was
born and raised in Germany, and he earned his Doctor of Theology at Mainz in 1957 under Dr. Herbert
Braun. He served as editor of the lexica Religion in Geschichte und Gegenwart (4th ed. 1998 2005)
and Religion Past and Present (2007 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He differs his book from commentaries in purpose, nature and content, stating that his purpose of
study is for further investigations regarding specific passaged or problems yet unresolved or even
undiscovered (p1). For reading Philippians, Betz critically engages in the previous literary
commentaries and employs textual and literary criticism. Especially he critically engages to Lohmeyer
s criticism on Philippians, affirming that Lohmeyer s interpretation on the Philippians which reads the
epistle as deutero Pauline and from the second century era. However Betz criticizes Lohmeyer s
interpretation of Philippians as the polemic of Martyrs. He points out that regardless of vivid and
impressive ideas about Martyrdom in the letter(p. 17), connecting his personal affliction to Philippian
martyrdom is too subjective to validate. Betz clearly demonstrates the difficulty of accessing to the
original manuscripts of the text(Volagen) through textual criticism and literary criticism due to the
additional redactions. By representing the uncertainty of the original text, he emphasizes the variance
of the text manuscripts and highlights the importance of textual criticism and comparative studies to

Brutus Weaknesses
Brutus most certainly would be the first choice of noble characters in the play. His intentions in killing
Caesar were honorable in the Roman s eyes. He did not kill Caesar for a personal gain or revenge,
unlike Cassius who wanted total revenge, Brutus took Caesar s life because he believed that Caesar
was going to do incredible damage to the Roman Republic. Brutus s weakness in his honorable nature
that lead him to trust Cassius, who he considers his friend, and let himself be persuaded that Caesar
must be killed to save Roman Democracy. The same nature causes Brutus to reject the suggestion be
his fellow Romans to kill Anthony as well. As a result Anthony calls Brutus the noblest Roman of all
time . Brutus s strength is that he is a well

  • 2. The Expression Of Aggression And Gender The Expression of aggression related to gender Do you know that some people says men and women are equally when they show aggressive behavior! This change is be more acceptable; especially, after scientists define relational or indirect aggression that women like to exhibit. However, the old studies believe that men are more likely to be aggressive. The question is what is the motivation to make people behave aggressively? The expression of aggression is related to gender because social roles and media influences have a hugely significant impact on. Social roles in the societies have an extremely profound impact on people deals between each other ;especially, when we remind the expression of aggression. One of most theories study the different on aggression behavior between male and female gender is social role theory which discuss influences of social roles on aggression behavior. According to Bowie (2007), gender tends to take characteristics that can learned from life experiences rather than come from his/her genetic. Also, Umberger says that as a part of gender roles, norms serve as an outline of behavior, telling people what is acceptable and what is not. So, what people learn or act in the society can guide them to behave aggression differently. Any person may learn to exhibit the aggression since he/she was a kid. There are causes for this. Parents have a significant influence in their children s behavior. They can learn them to be more patient or more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Economic Development Of The Middle East This economic modernization in the Middle East, could only be a short term success which does not guarantee the successful and stable economic development of oil rich states and the region as a whole in the long term. The Middle East, despite its vast reserves of oil, is still considered a developing region due to the high reliance on oil revenues and rather weak production sector of the economy as well as due to some political factors such as lack of democracy, corruption, reluctance to the reforms and other issues. There are various reasons as to why the Middle East is still considered a developing region despite its oil wealth. Natural resource revenues have also been linked to slow economic growth rates, inequality, and poverty. One culprit may be Dutch disease, which was discussed earlier. Other factors may include the volatility associated with commodity prices, which can have especially negative impacts on weak state economies; and the underdevelopment of agricultural and manufacturing sectors during boom periods in resource based economies. And even when oil abundance produces high growth, it often benefits only a few corrupt elites rather than translating into higher living standards for most of the population. Corruption is one of the economic deficiencies which can weaken economic growth and development; thus it is considered as an important impediment to economic growth and political stability, particularly in developing countries. Practiced in 31 states and abolished in 19 the death penalty has remained a center stone of debate since its launch in 1976. With so many differing viewpoints, arguments pertaining to the moral issue, legal considerations and possible alternatives have been left unsettled since. The ongoing tug of war within these topics slowly tries to chip away at the big question. Should the death penalty be allowed? Morality and human psychology show up as clear underlining factors when it comes to crossing the line between life and death. Many believe an eye for an eye form of punishment is justifiable while others strongly disagree on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In their eyes, the death of murders relieves the burning vengeance and pain victims loved ones go through. Opponents argue against the thought of revenge and any connection it has towards justice or fulfilling the grief of death. They argue that vengeance only makes things worse and extends the chain of violence, claiming it has no place in our justice system. Along with moral issues, social unfairness such as poverty and race have always been woven into concern among the two sides. One argument touches on the economic state of the convicted and how it affects his/her chances of being executed. People of poverty don t have the money to hire a good legal representative leaving them with a weak defense against their crime. I don t know of any affluent people who have been sentenced to death, said Walter Berns, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. People of poverty who are given a representative by the state find that often that their defendant is ill experienced and underpaid. Court appointed death penalty lawyers are paid barely enough to cover costs, are usually inexperienced, and often don t put up much of a fight, said Stephen Bright, director of the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta. This imbalance in equity on an economic level also rings true on an ethnic level through racial bias. In 82% of the studies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It helps in dealing with complex problem with a greater understanding. Traditional Machine Learning model used to solve problems successfully where final output was a simple function of input data, whereas Deep Learning can capture composite relations. Deep Learning is basically learning data representations which is all about making things and presenting to real audiences. In order to master the various aspects of Deep Learning one requires proficiency of core academic content, critical thinking, analytical thinking and self directed learning. It consists of mathematical models, which can be termed as composition of same type of functions wherein some of the functions can be changed so as to predict the final value. Some of these models need input parameter from the user, thus are heuristically designed and hence performance might depend on characteristic of parameters and input image. Some of the new learning based methods overcome above problems and give solutions to complex problems. It is for this reason that deep neural networks have recently seen an impressive comeback. CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) used in Deep learning for image restoration, works by averaging out the output of various trained network to the same input. Neural Networks have numerous application in several areas of image processing. It is used for classifying the image and the mathematical analysis of CNN operates feature extraction first and then give the results to trainable classifier. This model works by training the network to reconstruct high quality images from degraded or blurred input images. The model gives promising results from the learned set of denoisers and also can be used for low level applications to deliver high performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Formal Analysis The painting that I chose to write my formal analysis on is called The Café Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, At Night . This piece was created by Vincent Van Gogh in Arles, France and was completed sometime in September of 1888. This painting is oil on canvas, and it is currently housed in the Kroller Muller Museum located in Otterlo, The Netherlands in Europe. This painting depicts a sidewalk café in France at night. There is a doorway to the front left of the painting that is painted blue, and is surrounded by a wall that gleams yellow from the outdoor lights. Attached to the wall, there is a large awning, and it covers the diners and the empty tables that are a part of the café. Above the awning, there are open window shutters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Color is highly evident in this painting, and helps to draw the viewer s eye to certain places in the painting. The café is yellow, and adds a boisterous feeling to that section of the piece. The yellow light spills onto the street and walls of the town, creating bright colors and drawing the eye. The sky and town use dark colors to illustrate nighttime, although the bright spots of the stars cause the viewer to look to the sky. The next art element that is demonstrated in this painting is time and motion. The think strokes of the leaves on the tree make it looks as though a wind is blowing through the streets of France. The pedestrians in the street demonstrate an element of time and motion because they appear to have been caught mid stride on the way to their destinations. The server in the café, as well as his customers, show motion because they are moving and having conversations amongst themselves. Texture and pattern are very easy to identify in this painting. The street s cobblestones show texture and pattern in the way that they are arranged. Texture is also demonstrated through the paint strokes on the buildings, the tree, and even the sky. These thick, uneven strokes add a layer of depth and texture to all elements of the painting. The final element in The Café Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, At Night that demonstrates time is the stars and darkness that represent nighttime. Translating has two meanings; translating from one language to another, and translating others work into one s words. Like the famous quote Translation is the art of failure by Umberto Eco, there were countless controversies over the translation of written works over centuries, from personal writings to literature. Understandably, there are no exceptions for the case of bible translation. The history of bible translation began in the 5th century BCE in Palestine, from Hebrew to Aramaic. There are many factors that affect the content and structure of the bible when it is translated. One factor is emotional attachment to already familiar version. Since the group of people revising the bible are Christians themselves, they must have studied an already existing version for their whole life. This is impossible to ignore and it appears intactly on their work, like King James Version (KJV) and Revised Korean Version (RKV). Another factor is the difference in languages. Faith is having a confident attitude toward God, involving commitment to His will for one s life and that His plans are for our best and flow from His love for us. As we read through the Old and New Testament of the bible we see how the men of God are described living by their faith. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) ... 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Body Though we could look at many of the Bible accounts from Adam to Noah, Noah to Abraham, Abraham to David or David to Jesus, we will primarily focus on Abraham and the early journey of the formation of Israel. The same principles can be found in all of these periods. God s promise to Abraham was he would become the father of many nations. Abraham s obedience to God allow him to experience the Love of God by trusting God at his word. When God asked Abraham to take Isaac his son, Genesis 22:2 (NKJV) Then he said, Take now your son your only son Isaac, whom you love and go to the land Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you. . • 10. The Pros And Cons Of Cryonics Cryonics will not be possible in the future. People today view cryonics as unorthodox, but it will be a matter of is it worth it to spend $200,000 ($400 every year) to have a full body suspension or even $80,000 for a brain suspension when one may only be partially cognitive(being able to be conscious or fully aware). With the rapid increase in technology, theoretically, cryonics is possible, but only if we are talking about a materialistic point of view. The idea is to be able to download a brain onto a computer. The process is flawed because the cooling of the body damages part of the brain. With the damaged part of the brain, one could lose personality, knowledge, speech, and many other aspects of oneself (Harris). From a Christian standpoint, one could argue that it is useless to do such a thing because why would one want to come back from heaven? From a secular point of view, it seems that this is the answer to many problems. Immortality, sickness, epidemics, and extinction are all things that could come about or be prevented. While the process of downloading one s mind onto a computer seems difficult to understand, one must know the process of being cryogenically frozen. First, the body must be taken while ... • 12. Breitenfeld Battle Analysis The small Saxon village of Breitenfeld has long since been absorbed by the city of Leipzig. There isn t that much to see there. There is no tourism to speak of and even people in the area have only a vague notion of the importance that their small town once held. In fact, in the fields to the east of the city was fought a battle that probably decided the direction of European (and thus Western) Civilization. The battle fought there was not just a clash of armies; it was a collision between religions, a testing ground for new tactics and a stage for larger than life personalities. An afternoon in September, 1631was all it took for the world to take its present course. BACKGROUND One hundred years before the outbreak of general hostilities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Pappenheim s defeated formations fell back, the rest of the Imperial cavalry attacked the Saxon army holding Gustavus left flank. The inexperienced (but apparently well dressed) Saxon infantry, which was formed into Tercios like their Catholic opponents were routed and fled the field in panic. Over 3000 of them were cut down by pursuing cavalry. The rout of the Saxons was a massive problem for Gustavus. This is where his adaptation of the linear formation saved him. In warfare such as this, the flanks are everything. If your flank is turned then your army must flee in order to avoid destruction. The Swedes, in their long lines of infantry, were able to pull their expose flank back faster than the slow moving Imperial Tercios (which had, at this point, not been involved in the attacks) were able to move around it. In modern terms, Adolphus refused his flank to the enemy. After securing his battered left flank, Gustavus struck from his right with his cavalry and his well disciplined infantry. It is worth mentioning the high level of training that the Swedish musketeers. They were trained to load and fire at a much higher rate than other musketeers of the time. The Swedes were much more dependent on firepower than other armies of the time and Gustavus attack tore the Imperial Tercios apart with musket and cannon fire. Sometime after the Swedish counterattack, Gustavus infantry captured most of the Catholic artillery pieces and because the Swedes were cross trained in other disciplines, they were able to add the weight of the captured cannons to their own attack. This added firepower was the last straw for the Catholic forces. They broke and ran for their lives. Thousands were cut down or captured in the ensuing pursuit (Rickard, 2000). • 13. Reflective Essay On Civil Rights During our time in class, we discussed several themes pertaining to the rights and freedoms of the LGBTQ community, and spoke at length about some of the landmark cases that helped to give the community the liberties that they enjoy today. In order to better understand the struggle that the community had to endure in order to achieve these rights, we will review several different cases and tie them to things we learned in class, analyzing the roles that they played in achieving progress in various fields that were once dangers for members of this group. By understanding some of the landmark legal actions that were made in the quest for equal rights, perhaps then we can more fully understand the extent of the obstacles that they have overcome. And not all of these cases go in their favor, either, showing that even at the highest echelons of the American legal system, there have been and still continue to be significant prejudices which must be faced day in and day out. The most important step forward in the timeline of LGBTQ rights was the acceptance that homosexual acts were, in fact, not crimes, and that homosexuals could live in the open without fear of repercussion from the law. In class, we discussed the case of Bowers v. Hardwick, which upheld the constitutionality of sodomy laws and effectively criminalized homosexual relations until the 2003 case of Lawrence v. Texas, which reversed the decision. Just two years after the decision in Lawrence v Texas came down, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People sceptical of Chinese traditional culture s relevance to modern environmental concerns will point out that ancient Chinese had no term for nature in, as it were, the David Attenborough sense nature as what natural historians study, and what TV nature programmes are programmes about. This does not mean that the Chinese were unable to talk about natural landscapes and wild things, nor that their concept of nature were without implications for our relationship to nature in this sense. It does indicate, though, that the Chinese were not wedded to a wilderness ideal and that they did not emphasis a sharp distinction between the human and nature world. Leisure in the ancient Chinese study will uncover the relationship between ancient Chinese and their relationships with nature. Echoing with the introduction chapter, the definition of leisure in ancient China refers to characters of both xiu (a person leaning against a tree) and xian (refinement and the purity and peacefulness of mind). As Shuowen has it, xiu character should depict such as scene also reflects the Chinese understanding of man s relationship with and their worship of nature . • 16. What Would Happen If The Us In Singer By Peter Singer It is not the responsibility of individuals to help their fellow man. Our resources are dwindling, and there s no room to share. People and countries should learn to mend their own ways, and with reliance on others for aid, they won t be able to do that. Garrett Hardin sees the world as a lifeboat. The people inside of the boat are the rich, and the ones swimming outside of the boat are the poor. The population of the people in the water is less than that of those in the boat. Hypothetically, there s 50 people in a boat that s capable of withstanding a maximum capacity of 60. Swimming outside of the boat is 150 others. If the people in the boat were to let everyone on, it would sink; everyone drowns. This is what would happen if The United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But while it looks easy on paper, it is much harder than it appears. Singer uses unrealistic scenarios to guilt the reader into donating. For example, he refers to a Brazilian film Central Station. A woman, Dora, can make $1,000 if she can persuade a homeless 9 year old to follow her to an address, where the boy is to be adopted by foreigners. She delivers the boy, and buys a new TV set with the money she has made. Later on the woman learns that the boy has been sold to organ peddlers, and he will soon be killed. The inference Singer is trying to make is that there s no difference between someone who sells a child to organ peddlers, and an American upgrading their television set, because both are ethically wrong due to the fact that the money could have been donated. But is passive selfishness really on the same level as the direct murder of an innocent child? Despite the fact that the money for a TV set could save a child s life, it is far different, than the brutal murder of a small boy. The comparison is simply absurd, and this is not the only time he uses it. In another scenario, a man is on the train tracks and is torn between saving a child or his Bugatti from a runaway train. The man throws the switch, redirecting the train and saving his Bugatti. The boy is killed. These two, farfetched scenarios were used to show that we too have the chance to save a child s life. Writers, politicians, philosophers, religious leaders, try and guilt you into donating. And according to Singer, those who choose not to give away their money, are compared to the many Germans who looked away when the Nazi horrors were being committed, which is another outlandish ... Investigate, using the standard labour supply model, how this change in benefits will affect labour supply decisions for a single mother with two children who is able to find work at £30/hour. This looks as follows; As you can see, the income tax function lies on top of the original budget constraint until it reaches £7,475 of consumption. This is because there is no tax for the initial £7,475 as it is a personal allowance. When an extra £35,000 of income is earned (a total income of £42,475), the tax of 20% reduces the total income to £35,475 of net adjusted income. When the income is £90,000 which is the maximum the mother can earn, the income tax reduces her income to £63,990 because of the 40% income tax after £35,000 of income. The curve then kinks away to the left at £7,475, until it reaches an income of £35,475. At this point the curve kinks with a further decrease in the gradient until it crosses the y axis at £63,990. The child benefits policy currently allocates £20.30 for the eldest child and £13.40 for any additional child. When this is added to the consumption function which is adjusted to the current income tax system, the function looks as follows; When looking at this function, you can see that the income tax curve has been shifted upwards by amount of £1,752.40. Therefore, the curve crosses the y axis at £67,902.4 and kinks where consumption is £9,772.4 and £37,252.4. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The truss design, which is a variant of a triangle, creates both a very rigid structure and one that transfers the load from a single point to a considerably wider area. After being used for 2000 years of architectural use, the arch continues to feature prominently in bridge designs. Its semicircular structure elegantly distributes compression through its entire form and diverts weight onto its two abutments, which are the components of the bridge that directly take on the pressure being exerted onto the bridge. The tensional forces in arch bridges are virtually negligible. That is because the natural curve of the arch and its ability to dissipate the force outward greatly reduces the effects of tension on the underside of the arch. The greater the degree of curvature, the greater the effects of tension on the underside of the bridge. If you build a big enough arch, the tension will eventually overtake the support of the bridges natural structure. While there is a fair amount in variety in arch bridge construction, the basic structure of every arch bridge is the same. For example there is Roman, Baroque and Renaissance which are all architecturally different they all have the same basic structure. It is the individual arch itself gives its namesake bridge its strength. An arch made of stone doesn t need a mortar. What is most dangerous for Heidegger about this process is that the original ground of humans and beings in general might be covered and forgotten to the extent that humans lose completely the sense of what they truly need. Heidegger s question of Being, is a question which concerns human facticity, i.e. our actual being in the world in its temporal and enigmatic character. With the question of Being, Heidegger struggled to uncover the original historical ground to which humans belong, a ground from which modern society tends to uproot itself through the dominance of calculative and representational thinking. The Tri Services Parametric Estimating System (TPES) contained in the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Construction Criteria Base (CCB) developed models of different facility types by determining the critical cost parameters (i.e., number of floors, area and volume, perimeter length) and relating these values through algebraic formulas to predict costs of a wide range of building systems, subsystems, and assemblies. The TPES models can be adapted to facilities beyond those included in the base modeling system by using SuccessEstimator, a software package available from U.S. Cost. Detailed cost estimates are prepared at the submittal stages of design (typically at 30%, 60%, and 90%) based on quantity take off calculations. These estimates rely on cost databases such as the Commercial Unit Price Book (C UPB) or the R. S. Means Building Construction Cost Database. Testing organizations such as ASTM International and trade organizations have reference data for materials and products they test or represent. • 31. The Importance Of Equal Rights In Israel Since the Zionist movement began in the late 19th century, Jews have been treating the Palestinian people as a minority and have been pushing them out of Palestine in an effort to create a Jewish state. In his book Palestine Inside Out: An Everyday Occupation , Saree Makdisi, provides a detailed account of how Palestinian people living in Israel and its occupied territories are still unable to enjoy the same rights as Jewish people. He argues that Israel is oppressing the Palestinians and violating international law by restricting their movement, thereby slowly diminishing the Palestinian s presence within Israel. Makdisi believes that the only viable option to ensure Palestinians have the same rights as the Jews is a one state solution, which I am inclined to agree with. The Israeli government has a bureaucratic process in place that oppresses Palestinians. Several different international and human rights organizations have submitted that Israel s way of supporting the Palestinians oftentimes violates international law. Palestinians have an everyday struggle that Jews do not have to contend with, specifically due to Israel s handling of permits, checkpoints, and zones, all of which are intended to break up Palestinian areas from each other (p. 29). As will be discussed in the following paragraphs, Israelis discriminate against Palestinians on a daily basis, grinding down their hope for peace and equal rights. Israel has a prejudiced permit system, which makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mirrors In Black Mirror, By Charli Charlie Brooker In our 21st century reality, new media and technology has transformed, with little resistance, almost every aspect of daily life; redefining our reality. From plasma screens to monitors to smartphones, we are constantly face to face with the black screens of our devices, or black mirrors . Canadian professor, Marshall Mcluhan described media as artificial extensions of sensory existence, ; meaning, each media technology functions as a prosthetic, working in conjunction with our minds and bodies, allowing us to perceive more and reshaping our perception of the world (1969). This approach emphasises the impossibility of fully understanding social and cultural changes in society without understanding how media works as environments (Griffin, 2011). ... I believe readers should take time and read this book for many reasons and one them is that it makes you think throughout the whole book or novel for clues and strange things which makes the book more interesting and very fun to read throughout the entire book/novel. I truly believe that readers should read this book because it s interesting, mysterious, and in some parts or chapters of the novel/book you can picture, see or visualize the characters doing things like, as I was reading briefly through the book I pictured, saw, or visualized Joshua and God talking and having a good relationship with God No I don t believe that Joshua was Jesus in many reasons, because Joshua might of disappeared in the book and did some crazy things but I don t really believe Joshua had to do or be anything pertaining to Jesus Christ at all. • 35. The Merchant of Venice Essay In the comedy, The Merchant of Venice, the roles and responsibilities of women is a significant social issue proposed by Shakespeare. This theme is communicated by the only three female characters in the play: Nerissa, Portia and Jessica. For example, in Act 4 during the trial between Antonio and Shylock, Portia and Nerissa disguise themselves as Balthasar and Bellario to free their friend. However, Jessica also plays a minor role in portraying the independence of Jewish women in a Christian and Elizabethan society, by successfully betraying her father, Shylock. These characters portray Shakespeare s overall opinion on women, as well as a modern audience s view on Elizabethan society in many significant ways by accentuating themes, ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience, as well as Bassanio, view Portia as a beautiful, immaculate, aristocratic and fair lady. However after Act 5, Portia is nothing, but prejudicial and bigoted, as she is the cause of Shylock s demise and claims that she used my [her] body to punish Bassanio for abusing her gift of love: the ring. This is ironic, because Portia infringes her relationship with Bassanio by inferring she has committed an affair, even though she herself accuses him of abusing her love and power by losing the ring. This implies that relationships in Elizabethan society were corrupt and fake, which allowed many women in particular to commit religious crimes against their husbands. Furthermore, Shakespeare additionally uses the theme of deception to convey that women are superior to men. This seen when Portia tells Nerissa that I [she] have work in hand/ That you yet know of. We ll see our husbands/Before they think of us (3.4), as she wants to help Bassanio and Gratiano save Antonio s life by disguising. In general, many Elizabethan playwrights such as Twelfth Night and The Merry Wives of Windsor, allow the audience to understand the fact that the position of women was such, so that they could not become active (3.4) in society. By Portia and Nerissa dressing up as Balthasar and Bellario, this would give them temporary masculinity and so, the ability to do things that normal social codes would not, ... Maeleigh and Anna have completely different coming out stories at this point in their lives. Growing up with Maeleigh, I was able to see how her life was affected by being gay. I know more about her lifestyle and story than most would and it was difficult for her to figure herself out. Mae was very confused and distraught as she got older and she started to realize she was not the so called normal little girl. She had to learn to except herself before she could tell anyone or most importantly come out to her parents. As for Anna, I have no personal ties to her. Maeleigh met Anna this year at school; they both attend Manchester University and play on the softball team. They eventually got together and developed a relationship. Everything between the two is new and they are learning more about each others stories and how they dealt with coming out. Coming out is one of the most difficult aspects of being a lesbian. They have spent an extreme amount of time playing out in their minds how to tell this news to their parents. The scariest part, both have said, would have to be the thought of being rejected by their families. Maeleigh had known she was different from everyone since she was in 5th grade. She began to find herself having crushes on girls rather than boys. She said in 5th grade she was terrified, not knowing why she felt this way. Not knowing the reasons why she felt ... In Studies in Paul s Letter to the Philippians , Hans Dieter Betz scrutinizes five segments from the letter to the Philippians to examine scholastic interpretations and to suggest a new interpretation regarding its literary genre as preparation for death(praemeditatio mortis). Hans Dieter Betz is a German American scholar of the New Testament and Early Christianity. He was born and raised in Germany, and he earned his Doctor of Theology at Mainz in 1957 under Dr. Herbert Braun. Especially he critically engages to Lohmeyer s criticism on Philippians, affirming that Lohmeyer s interpretation on the Philippians which reads the epistle as deutero Pauline and from the second century era. However Betz criticizes Lohmeyer s interpretation of Philippians as the polemic of Martyrs. He points out that regardless of vivid and impressive ideas about Martyrdom in the letter(p. 17), connecting his personal affliction to Philippian martyrdom is too subjective to validate. Betz clearly demonstrates the difficulty of accessing to the original manuscripts of the text(Volagen) through textual criticism and literary criticism due to the additional redactions.
