Physician Assistant Assignments
A day in the life of a modern day female physician assistant depends greatly on the personal
preference of said woman. One of the best things about taking physician assisting into
consideration is the multiple jobs that one could choose from depending on what they want to
specialize in. But no matter what job one chooses to specialize in, the activities, working
conditions, and physical demands are all fairly similar. Physician assistants provide basic care in
all areas of medicineincluding primary care, family medicine, and emergency medicine. Physician
assistants provide health care services under the supervision of doctors (Idaho Career Information
System). Some occupational tasks include; examining patients, diagnosing patients and... Show

Essay On Health Disparity In African American Men
The higher incidence of prostate cancer in African American/Black men compared to other racial
/ethnic groups is a major health disparity. The statistics surrounding this health disparity are scary,
with African American men having a prostate cancer mortality rate twice as high as whites and a
prostate cancerincidence two thirds higher (Modlin, 2012). The health disparity of African
American men s incidence of prostate canceris a huge problem from a public health perspective
because it makes African American men less productive, there are higher costs in the healthcare
field than would be if the gap didn t exist, and a loss of sense of control from African American men
because of financial concerns/aftermath of treatment. One behavioral influence... Show more

A biological influence on this health disparity is a genetic predisposition seen in African
American men. Several studies have shown a chromosome that is more common in African
American men that increases the risk of prostate cancer. The chromosome is 8q24 variants,
which is the most commonly seen, as well as, BCL2 and EphB2 linking to a higher incidence of
prostate cancer (Modlin, 2012). The genetic predisposition has also been proven to cause prostate
cancer to be a more aggressive disease in African Americans, likely leading to the higher mortality
rates. The behavioral influence of being less likely to get screened and the biological influence of a
genetic predisposition interact to influence the health disparity. There is no way of changing the
genetic predisposition so that already puts African American men in a place for higher incidence.
Being they already have that higher incidence due to genetics, adding into the equation African
Americans being less likely to be screened only makes the health disparity

Essay on “Higher Education Without Higher Interest Rates”
The current state of the economy has spurred a debate as to what type of education is worth the
time and study that students invest. Some contend that students should attain degrees in more
quantitative subjects, such as math and science. Others state that vocational degrees are best in
this economy. Personal views aside, a central tenet is clear a college education, often
complemented by postgraduate education, is the reliable path to success for most Americans. That
being said, there are still several real life obstacles that impede access to such an education. There
are several, specific public policy initiatives that can help alleviate these hindrances. In order for
Americans to have more job opportunities with higher wages, Congress... Show more content on

In other words, higher education is valuable but expensive. Most would agree that higher
education encourages ingenuity and critical thinking attributes which are valuable in any
profession. Though people like to cite Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg as not finishing college but
finding once in a lifetime success, the rule remains that those individuals are the exception, not the
rule. Having a college degree makes attaining a higher paying job possible. Clearly higher
education pays off, but there are some people who do not have enough money to pay for college.
Only thirty percent of Americans have earned a college degree. This number does not seem
staggering, but when compared with college tuition debt to credit card debt, the results are stark. In
general, Americans have more college tuition debt than credit card debt (State of the Union).
When considering an average college graduate and his or her consumer/credit debt, it is easy to
see why the student loan burden is one that students find increasingly difficult to confront. This is
worsened by the current state of the economy, where educated men and women have difficulties
finding jobs because of the market. As a result, they are straddled with student loan debt. This debt,
coupled with consumer debt and dim job prospects, are a burden which can easily become
overwhelming for the average 22 year old (Federal Student Aid).
The fact that institutions of higher learning have added to their tuition

Computer Software Attacks
According to Ponemon Institute Research Report , Virus, worms, Trojans and malware are the
most common type of attacks. These are most preventable with robust anti virus and anti malware
software. Many people think that having a good anti virus or an inbuilt firewall will prevent most
of the attacks. These security measures will not control most of the other attacks like Denial of
Service, Zero Day exploits or malicious codes. The same reports also state that the cost of Virus,
Worms, Trojans, and Malware attackare the lowest among all other types of attack. (Ponemon
Institute 2013). So even if the company spent most of their security budget on anti virus, it will
still incur a huge cost if any other attacks are successful. According to hackmageddon.com,
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) and SQL Injection (SQLi) are the top two attack techniques
in the year 2013 (Passeri 2014). These types of attack can only be prevented with proper network
planning and regularly testing network infrastructure for possible security issues. As more and
more tools are available to amateur hackers they will try or attempt to break into insecure networks
using most vulnerable exploits (DataLossDB, Data Loss Latest Incidents 2014).
The success of these network attacks can lead to data theft, data loss, compliance failures and
website outages. These breaks can do not only cause legal issue due to failure of compliance, but
may likewise result in customer dissatisfaction. Dissatisfied

Genotypying Case Study
Genotypying
Single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping was conducted on the Illumina platform by (Song,
Hyten, et al., 2013) and genotype data of 52,041 SNPs scored on 14,430 germplasm accessions to
develop the Illumina Infinium SoySNP50K BeadChip. SNPs were scored using Genome Studio
Genotyping Module v1.8.4 (Illumina, Inc.) and SNPs with minor allele frequency (MAF) of 0.05
were ruled out from further analysis. Subsequently 42,041 SNPs with minor allele frequency ≥
0.05 across 491 genotypes were used for GWAS analysis.

The STRUCTURE default parameters to be used are an admixture model with independent allele
frequencies, a burn in of 100,000, and an MCMC replication of 500,000 for K = 1 to 10
subpopulations with five replications. The Wilcoxon signed ranked test implemented in SAS 9.4
(SAS Institute, 2017) is used to select the optimum number of subpopulations (Rosenberg, 2004).
The optimum number of subpopulations is the smallest K in the first nonsignificant Wilcoxon test.
Distruct 1.1 (Rosenberg, 2003) is to be used for graphical display of the STRUCTURE output.
Genome Wide Association Mapping
Advances in genotyping technology, reduction in cost of next generation sequencing has led to a
rapid increase of molecular markers for genomics studies (Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007,
Chaudhary, Patil, et al., 2015). The use of association analysis to study complex traits in plants is
now a viable approach. TASSEL program (Trait Analysis by aSSociations, Evolution and Linkage)
(Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007) is software used to conduct association analysis. TASSEL accounts
for false positives that arise from population and family structure by structured association
(Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007).
For a genome wide association study the false positive rates of the general linear model (GLM),
the mixed linear model (MLM), and the compressed MLM will be compared to determine the best
model to use and subsequently run on TASSEL program (Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007).

The Structures Within An Animal Cell
The structures within an animal cell are described as follows:
Plasma Membrane or Cell Membrane:
This is a thin membranous layer which surrounds the cell and acts as a barrier, it works to separate
the contents within the cell from its external environment as well as from other cells.
It s structure is important as it provides structural support and protection of components within it
as is is made up of a double membrane layer or phospholipid bilayer. It works likes a gatekeeper of
pathway so allowing certain or selected molecules to pass through and exit the cell, such as water,
nutrients and waste substances.

It is known to be the site of aerobic respiration. (Pickering, 1994).
Ribosomes:
This organelle is small round organelles and are not made of membrane and are made up of protein
and RNA. This is an important organelle as the cell requires this to make proteins.
The proteins produced are mainly to be used within the cell and the enzyme which are products by
proteins help in speeding up certain biological processes.
They are found within the cell, either free in the cytoplasm or they can be attached to the
Endoplasmic reticulum.
Endoplasmic reticulum:
This organelle is a network of membranes which are either attached to the nucleus or found
throughout the cytoplasm.
It is a folded membrane which gives the appearance of tubes if interconnected sheets.
These membranes may vary from cell to cell depending of the function and size of particular cells.
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum:
This is known as such due to the ribosomes which are attached to the surface of the Endoplasmic
reticulum and gives it the appearance of bumpy looking membranes.
It can also be attached to the nuclear envelope which is found surrounding the nucleus.
This is the site of protein production due to the ribosomes attached to the surface of the
Endoplasmic reticulum.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum

Essay On The Origin Of The Civil Rights Movement
The civil rights motion turned into a warfare via African individuals within the mid Nineteen Fifties

identical access to public centers, and the proper to be freed from racial discrimination. No social or
political movement of the 20 the century has had as profound an impact at the criminal and
political establishments of America. This movement sought to repair to African individuals the
rights of citizenship assured by means of the Fourteenth and 15th Amendments, which have been
eroded by using segregationist Jim Crowe legal guidelines in the South. It basically altered

By 1909, blacks and whites together had formed the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People (NAACP) which became a leading organization in the cause of civil rights for
African Americans. From its beginning, the NAACP and its attorneys challenged many
discriminatory laws in court, but it was not until after World War II that a widespread movement
for civil rights gathered force. The war itself contributed to the origins of the movement. When
African Americans who had fought for their country returned home, they more openly resisted
being treated as second class citizens. The movement s first major legal victory came in 1954,
when the NAACP won Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, in which the Supreme
Court struck down laws segregating white and black children into different public elementary
schools. With Brown, it became apparent that African Americans had important allies in the highest

Frannie s Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Analysis
A thorough analysis of Frannie s indications presents that she is displaying symptoms of
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a condition in which an
individual has reoccurring, obsessions and compulsions (The National Institute of Mental Health,
2017). The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders has recently been updated to
group together Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and trichotillomania
together and redefined the diagnoses of excoriating disorder and hoarding disorder. This new
grouping is intended to help with the proper diagnosis and treatments of these conditions. (Gluck,
2017b) The symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder include the intrusive and obsessive
thoughts. These thoughts can be displayed in a variety of things (Gluck, 2017a). For Frannie, this
is prevalent in her fear of dirt and germs, and her preoccupation with neatness. It is also apparent
in her fear of embarrassing herself and her family ( The Case of Frannie n.d). The symptom of
repetitive rituals such as checking locks, excessive cleaning, also indicates obsessive compulsive
disorder being Frannie s condition. The fact that these thoughts and behaviors consume a... Show

anxiety and compulsive behavior as well as her rituals Gorrindo Parekh, 2017). This form of
therapy allows for her to learn how to stop her rituals, and decrease her anxiety ( Gorrindo
Parekh, 2017). This therapy method will provide benefits to Frannie because it is one that can be
easily recreated. During her sessions, she will, with her therapist, develop guidelines to follow to
prevent her typical responses to the given exposures (Gorrindo Parekh, 2017). Introducing Frannie
to techniques such as yoga, massages, and meditation may also assist in easing her stress and

AO Neville s Three Acts Of Genocide
When AO Neville became Chief Protector of Aborigines in Western Australia in 1915, over a
million Aboriginals had already been killed by British colonists, treated as animals after Australia
was declared terra nullius by the first settlers. Neville aimed to improve the lives of Aboriginals
and introduced his policies of assimilation, in which full blooded Aboriginals would die out and
half blooded Aboriginals would be removed from their families and interbreed with the white
community. Neville truly believed that he was doing the right thing for Australiaand for the
Aboriginals by assimilating the populations. These policies of assimilation however, while
somewhat well intended, failed to improve the lives of the Aboriginals. They were... Show more

Further indication that Neville s policies were not beneficial is the fact that the standard of
living of modern Aboriginals is still in the same place it was under Neville s leadership (F). The
lives of the ancestors of these Aboriginals had not been improved by Neville s policies, and, as a
result, neither had their own lives. Source F states that the conditions of life in which they find
themselves remain impoverished and highly oppressive . Modern Aboriginals are more
susceptible to serious diseases, have an abnormally low life expectancy for both genders, which is
odd for a well developed country such as Australia, have a high unemployment rate and those
which are employed are paid less than their white counterparts (F). This is further demonstrated in
Source H, where Aboriginal children were withdrawn from schools if white parents complained,
which now directly correlates to the high unemployment rate. The children received a low level of
education, as they were expected to work as manual labourers and domestic servants (J). Source F
contains statistics collected thirty years after the assimilation policies ended. The fact that the
unemployment rate has increased after thirty years suggests that these Aboriginal children who
were denied education are unable to find work due to this

Alistair Macleod- Modern World Versus Traditional World Essay
Modern World versus Traditional World
The stories from Alistair Macleod s The Lost Salt Gift of Blood are often related to the lives of the
people of the Maritimes who are commonly miners, fishermen and farmers. The author repeatedly
examines similar themes and issues in his short stories such as isolation, choices versus
consequences and the concept of dying culture. However, the most prominent theme deals with the
contrast between the rural ways of life and the more modern city life. This theme is not only limited
to the Maritime culture; it is something that can be universally understood. His reason for utilizing
this theme is to prove that the modern way of life is not always better then the traditional ways.

This shows the difference between their lives in Montreal versus Cape Breton. Frequently
throughout Macleod s stories he presents a conflict between modernity and the traditional way of
life.
The concept of the traditional world versus the modern world is a global phenomenon which is not
limited to the Maritime Provinces. In the world there are a multitude of cultures. Within any
culture there are deep rooted traditions that affect the way people view education, entertainment,
and jobs. However, due to the advances throughout the world a conflict between modernity and
the traditional world has arose. Throughout Alistair Macleod s The Lost Salt Gift of Blood
collection, his stories portray this conflict in a Maritime setting and mostly represent the conflict
between the traditional world and the modern world. The Golden Gift of Grey deals with the same
theme; however, it is set within Northern America. Throughout the story there are examples
proving the more traditional ways of life such as, They did not know the aching loneliness of
which it spoke and when it floated from the windows of the house on warm summer nights it
branded their parents indelibly as hillbillies and they themselves as well. (Macleod 93) This is a
great point, showing that not only can this theme be prone to the Maritimes but allows readers to
consider that the theme is universally distributed.

Eventually, you know with all the social media programs these days, its going to end up on

quote can become famous but another way is if it is in a popular movie or book. In this case it
is from one of Shakespeare s finest and most known, A Midsummer Night s Dream. In A
Midsummer Night s Dream the quote the course of true love never did run smoothly applies to
the different people in the book: the first couple is Hermia and Lysander, Second Demetrius and
Helena, and finally Pyramus and Thisbe. To start, the first couple that proves the quote right is
Hermia and Lysander. They had a very bumpy love story. When they were going to run away
together you think that everything is going to be okay. Then, because someone was trying to
help Lysander stopped loving Hermia for a little while. That was the biggest bump in their road
of love because they make you think that they aren t going to be together. Hermia starts to as
Lysander why this bump has come up so quickly and suddenly when it seemed like they had a

A Manifesto For Cyborgs By Donna Haraway
In A Manifesto for Cyborgs: Science, Technology, and Socialist Feminism in the 1980s, Donna
Haraway gives an introduction to cyberfeminism and argues that there should be a new way to view
the world and the issues that are currently faced The ironic political myth faithful to feminism,
socialism, and materialism would ultimately be the cyborg(2190). The cyborg has no origin,
therefore, it can understand the world without bias. Haraway discusses three important boundaries
that support her main ideas throughout her essay.
The boundary between human and animal is Haraway s way of saying that humans and animals are
the same and should not be put into separate categories. The cyborg can think beyond the thought
of humans and animals separately and view them as one species. The boundary between animal
human and machine is used to describe the way Haraway views machines. Machines were lifeless.
Nevertheless, machines have advanced beyond belief and there is no longer a distinction between
humans and machines. Lastly, Haraway discusses the boundary between the physical and the non
physical with an example of televisions. Televisions use light. Nonetheless, no one can actually
touch light so therefore the line between the physical and non physical is distorted. ... Show more

Logical Fallacy Essay
A logical fallacy I sawseen in class is when Rebecca told Mrs. Putnam you sent a child to conjure
the dead Mrs. Putnam replied how dare you judge me . Now, a fallacy is a common error in
reasonings that will undermine the logic of your argument. But there are also different types of
fallacies. You can have a fallacy of appeal to ignorance, appeal to appeal to authority, appeal to
popular opinion, association fallacy, aAttacking the person, begging the question, circular
argument, relationship implies causation, false, illogical conclusion, and slippery slope. I can start
defining each fallacy to show where that fallacy falls in place with the trial I sawseen in class. The

This error is committed when an argument takes its evidence from an element inside the
argument itself instead of from an outside one. Next fallacy is Relationship implies causation
fallacy. Also called cum hoc Ergo propter Hoc this fallacy is a deposition in which the individual
making the contention joins two occasions that happens consecutively and accepts that one
made the other. Theres also False Dilemma, also called Bifurcation . This sort of error happens
when somebody presents their argument in such a way that there are just two conceivable
alternatives left. Second to last there is illogical conclusion, this fallacy wherein somebody
attests a conclusion that does not follow from the suggestions. And last but not least fallacy is
Slippery slope. The error happens when one contends that an exceptionally minor movement
will unavoidably prompt great and frequently ludicrous conclusions. Now that i ve explained
each fallacy meaning, we can find which category the logical fallacy I seen in class fits under. I
think my logical fallacy from class falls under Appeal to ignorance . The reason I think that is
because Rebecca was being ignorant saying Mrs.Putnam s business out in front of everyone about

Tragic Hero In Seize The Day
A good number of critics have evaluated Tommy Wilhelm regarding his drawbacks only and have
settled him as a complete failure. Many of them have given him the title of an anti hero. But they
have failed to see the luminous traits of Tommy s character. Tommy, though a failure, possesses
some rare human qualities alien to the denizens of waste land like western civilization rendered arid
and vapid by Mammon worship. The focal point, in this study, is to establish the fact that in spite of
having various negative and un heroic qualities, Tommy, by defying social structure and network,

the clown, the hipster, the criminal, the poor soul, the freak, the outsider, the scapegoat, the scrubby

the perspective of this definition, we see that Tommy Wilhelm, the protagonist of Saul Bellows
masterpiece Seize the Day seems to be an anti hero. Wilhelm like other Bellovian heroes has the
fatal flaws inherent in his personality; he is an alienated individual living on the margin of the
society (Obaidulla Ahmed, 2001, p.76). Bellow s writing puts a lot of emphasis on the themes of
the individual versus society and individual in self conflict. In his writing, society is always

Bar Mitzvah s Compared To Confirmation
Bar Mitzvah Bah Mitzvah s Compared to Confirmation
Catholic and Judaism are considered opposite religions, yet they share very similar rituals and
ceremonies. A Catholic child typically around twelve or thirteen years old goes through their
confirmation. This is a ceremony where the young adult promises to follow with the religion and
continue to learn about the faith. In the Jewish faith when a girl is twelve and a boy is thirteen
they celebrate their Bah Mitzvah if they are a girl or Bar Mitzvah if they are a boy. This
ceremony is also when the young adult promises to follow their religion and stay close to and learn
more about their faith.

A Bar Mitzvah or Bah Mitzvah is celebrated in a similar manor to the Catholic Confirmation.
During a Jewish Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah the child that is becoming of age reads from the Torah
in front of the Sabbath congregation, they say prayers and read other readings. After the ceremony
at the synagogue the whole family gathers to congratulate the young adult who just took their own
step into the faith of Judaism. At these parties a lot of food is served, the person who just had their
Bah/Bar Mitzvah receives their gifts. There is no religious aspect to the after party of the ceremony
at the synagogue so anything can take place during the party and it can have a theme to make it
more entertaining for the guests.
These two religions have celebrated these ceremonies for centuries and both religions continue to
today. Even though the religions beliefs conflict with each other it is no secret that they are very
similar in a lot of ways. The Confirmation ceremony and the Bah /Bat Mitzvah ceremonies are a
perfect example of this. They are celebrated almost the same but Catholic s now do confirmation
with groups and Jews still have individual Bar/Bah Mitzvah s. Besides that one difference the
ceremonies are both pretty much the same. Both the ceremonies are for the young adult to admit to
the congregation that they will continue to follow in the faith. Both ceremonies require readings

1.What exactly is an ecological footprint? Do you think this is a useful measure for understand and
evaluating your impact on the natural environment? Why or why not?
Ecological footprint is the capacity to continue providing resources or consumption of waste, the
biological productivity of the regional space. It means maintaining a person, region, and the
country needs to be able to accommodate human discharge of waste, with biological productivity
of the geographical area, which needs to evaluate to carry a population of a certain quality of life,
how much renewable resources are available for human use, or an ecosystem capacity of absorbing
waste. In my mind, I think this is relatively somewhat useful. Because the calculation of ecological
footprint could only reflect the impact of economic decision on the environment, that

What Does Pink Floyd Represent
Founded in 1965, the British Progressive and Psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd was formed. The
band achieved international success in their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation,
extended compositions and elaborate live shows. They have been considered one of the most
commercially successful and influential groups in the history of popular music. The song Money
written for their 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon, quickly became the band s first hit in the
United States when released as a single, reaching #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has been

The Invasion Of Iraq By The United States Essay
Over the previous two decades, the number of countries acquiring a democratic regime has
increased dramatically. Democracy is a political regime allowing a system of government that is
based on the belief of freedom and equal justice. Power is held by elected representatives through
free and fair elections, resulting in a system that reflects the people s choices. Democratic
countries rarely, if ever, wage war on each other and tend to resolve disputes in a more peaceful
manner rather than declaring war on their opposition. However, they are not the utopias of peace
that many people envision democracies to be. The invasion of Iraqby the United Statesof America in
2003 stands as a strong example where the impact of a forced regime change has resulted in unrest
and violence. IGO s like the UN promote democracyin a less invasive and obstructive way and are
a lot more successful. The invasion of Iraq clearly demonstrates the dangers of promoting
democracy in an undemocratic international system. The spread of democracy cannot be
imposed by force as it is discrediting the idea of freedom that the regime itself represents. Is
democracy a reason for peace just as much as it is a justification for war? I believe democracy does
make the world a more peaceful place, however, the forceful spread of democracy does not.
Immanuel Kant in Perpetual Peace 1765 originally brought up the idea that democratic countries
would be more peaceful than one with a monarchical governing

Essay On Discrimination In America
Social Issues: Discrimination in the US Discrimination is deeply embedded in America s history
even older than the country itself. America was at its peak in the 1920 s and with the fame of its
opportunity, safety and freedom came newcomers from other countries came looking for just this,
but instead of basking in the alleged pleasantness of the American Dream , the immigrants were
scrutinized, disrespected, and were limited from many rights, they were discriminated against
How was Discrimination Doled Out? Immigrants would often work the hardest, low paycheck jobs

Ethnic minorities are sometimes today, and back then, consistently the victims of anti immigrant
bias which, of course, always favored American born citizens. The USA born natives often resented
the immigrants for their hard work, determination and success. They would also experience anger
whenever the newcomers went against the grain. All this resent and anger resulted in many
negative stereotypes that fueled antagonism towards many ethnicities. Latin Americans are
becoming increasing targets to biased crimes. These stereotypes have a long history that started in
California and southwest America where in periods of anti immigrant movements, both new
settlers and veteran US citizens of Hispanic descent were unfairly blamed for social and economic
problems, and were also victims of harassment and, at the worst, deportation. Long standing bias
against Pacific Americans is also existent. In fact, in 1882 the Chinese exclusion act which barred
Chinese laborers from entering the US was legalized.
The paranoia of co workers plus the feeling of non assimilation of the immigrants into society didn

The Jewish Roots of Christian Liturgy
I Introduction First Christian communities appeared in Jewish Palestine and Diaspora after the
death of Jesus of Nazareth, called the Christ, around 30 CE. Not only Jesus himself was a Jew,
but also his followers and very first members of the new growing community were mainly Jews.
They all shared the Jewish belief, the Sacred Scripture that Christians later started to call the Old
Testament (OT), and were not aware of founding a new religion. A closer examination of Jewish
worship will let us understand how it influenced the new Christian worship. We will have a closer
look at places of worship, liturgical sources and customs which were common at that time. A last
task will be to ask whether there are any significant Jewish elements... Show more content on

There are some references to this pattern in the gospels (e.g. Lk 2,38; Mt 11,25 30; Jn 11,41 42).
Further we will see how some of these prayers in connection with the domestic Jewish worship were
essential for the Christian liturgy of the Eucharist.
D. The third main place of Jewish worship was home, especially during the time of meal. In the
OT the communion of meal and feast was understood as a sign of covenant (eg. Gen 26,30). The
Sabbath as a day was a special sign of covenant with God (Ex 31, 13 15) and so was the meal. The
main meal of the year was the Passover meal, as a memorial day for the Lord s passover in Egypt
and deliverance from slavery (Ex 12). The weekly Sabbath meal on Friday evenings and the
yearly Passover meal thus became quite elaborate. Bradshaw reminds that there is unfortunately
no detailed evidence about meal prayers in the first century, but according to the later evidence
many assume that every meal started with berakot (plural of berakah) and ended with them. The
opening berakot were pronounced over wine and bread, while the berakot at the end of the meal,
called Birkat ha mazon, consisted of a berakah for food, a hodayah for revelation and a tefillah for
redemption (Bradshaw: 44f; Kavanagh: 621). For Christians the Last Supper with Jesus, which was
a Passover meal, assumed a new meaning (Eucharist) as a thanksgiving and

Herpes Simplex Virus
Herpes is the name given to many virus diseases that s caused by Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV),
which causes cold sores and painful blisters. It is caused by contact (touching). Everybody do
not have HSV, which means that people get this disease from them that have it by sharing
objects such as lip balm, finger nail cutter, hair clipper, etc. HSV can also be contacted directly
through sexual activities. When it comes to statistic of the disease Herpes, it is quite separated
by gender and race. For all, 16.2% (over 25 million; 1 out of 6) of Americans have genital herpes.
20.9% of women have genital herpes. 11.5% of men have genital herpes. 39.2% of black

The ones I just mentioned are some symptoms of HSV. When someone is feeling that type of
way, he or she should go for herpes test. The effects of HSV is that once it is contacted, it stays
in the body forever, though it might be inactive. It can cause sores in the genital area. Some
women have this sore in their sexual organ (vagina). The effect of HSV can make it easier for
one to get HIV. It can cause problems in the nervous system, this is because once it is contacted,
it will travel through the nerves and affect it. It can also cause pregnancy problems, this is when
the disease (HSV) will go from the mother to the unborn child, causing fatal problem. If you are
seeking for help on how to prevent HSV, ask your partner about his or her sexual history. Also ask
your partner to be tested for genital herpes. Please don t drive while intoxicated. I don t know why
someone would want to do that. To prevent HSV, one of the sexual intercourse partner should use a
latex condom during every sexual contact, limit the number of sexual partners. People with HSV

For instance, economic growth is mainly constrained by the policy and political environment,
which indicates that the economic growth momentum is not strongly autonomous. The current
consumption growth will mainly depend on policy guidance and encouragement in the national

growth in consumption of endogenous mechanisms is hard to form. Strategy Figure A The first
strategy attempted by the group involved timing trades based on daily market performance and
expectations. Based on our predictions, shares were bought during the early hours of trading
and by mid day, the group had a good idea what would be kept until the next day of trading and
what would be sold by close. This strategy made use of daily market news and reports to help
predict short term changes; little attention was paid to long term potential as the group felt the
timeframe the simulation take place in was too short. This strategy, while mildly successful, was
not earning large enough gains for the group s portfolio. Many of our gains would be negated by
the commission the simulator charged per trade. This strategy later evolved to include larger equity
purchases on Fridays before the market closed for the weekend. These

Evaluation Of A Risk Corridor
For clarification a risk corridor is a formed idea that if insurance companies rake in higher cost
than expected the government will reimburse the insurer to a certain percentage. As an example,
if an insurer s actual claims in 2014 are at least 3% greater than the claims projected when the
insurer set 2014 rates, the government must reimburse the insurer for half of the excess
(Radnofsky, 2014). On top of that, if total claims jump 8% the government would be liable for
80% of the excess costs. This is a really risky move because the unhealthy population with insurance
could be extremely costly. The risk corridors gave third party payers the re insurance by
providing insurance to all parties. These insurers in 2015 needed massive bailouts from the
government for substantial losses reaching 2.5 billion. This can become an increasing expense
over the years. Most of all the taxpayers will be on the hook for these enormous losses, while
funding private shareholder owned insurance companies. The main issue at hand was the
Department of Health and Human Services didn t pay the full percentage that was applicable
under the risk corridor, which bankrupt some insurance providers. These small changes slowly
deteriorate the free exchange market the affordable care act was built upon. The CEO Kelly
Crowe of National Alliance stated few businesses can sustain hits like the CO OPs and other small

The Fight Against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract...
Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery
through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract
Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling
urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But
this has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for
new ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a
result, the American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse
specialists is working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program
developed an evidence based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how
health facilities can work together to improve the quality of service delivery through good
management, as well as evaluation of its implication on performance, training, and future nursing
practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 2016). As a result, this paper examines the
milestone achieved by St Francis Hospital towards quality improvement in catheterassociated
urinary tract contagions.

honorable person, it also adds an unexpected problem in her life. In Beyond Good and Evil,
Nietzsche explains that the gaze of a slave is not well disposed towards the virtues of the
powerful; he possesses skepticism and mistrust...against everything good ...he would like to
persuade himself that even happiness is not genuine there (3). Buffy clearly resembles what
Nietzsche was saying by not trusting her power and being skeptical of its effect on her life. Buffy
the Vampire Slayer often portrays the dark side of what is commonly thought of as enviable. The
power that Buffy possess is shown to be another obstacle that keeps the character from truly being

Essay on Hawaiian Navigation
Hawaiian Navigation
How did the Polynesians find their way to Hawaii, over two thousand miles from any other land?
Was it over population at home, or political turmoil? Whatever reason for leaving these people
used amazing knowledge and skill of the ocean and of the sky to navigate them to this new land.
They faced the unknown and braved into the wide open ocean for long periods of time. The real
focus in this paper is on the navigation techniques that they used in these voyages throughout the
Pacific.
It s impossible to teach someone the significance or the act of loving the stars and the ocean but that
s what makes navigation without instruments (wayfinding) so beautiful. One can give the heavens
a meaning his own meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then in the 1980 s came the voyages of rediscovery navigated by Nainoa Thompson from Hawaii
to Tahiti and from Tahiti back to Hawaii. Thompson was the first Hawaiian to sail this route in
over 500 years. The voyages in between took the Hokule a (some 16000 miles) to the Society
Islands, Cook Islands, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and back home via Aitutaki, Tahiti, Rangiroa
in the Tuamotu Archipelago (Baybayan, Kawaharada, 1996). The Hokule a became the symbol of
pride in Polynesian heritage that links all the people of Polynesia together.
In the 1990 s there were more voyages to Marquesan Islands and from the West Coast of the
United States up to Alaska. This is when education became the focus of the voyages of the Hokule
a. They then built the Hawaiilo a, another Polynesian voyaging canoe, this one made of traditional
materials. The Hawaiilo a added to the curiosity and the revival of culture throughout the world.
The natives of all ands throughout the world are figuring out the importance of their cultures and
bringing back the knowledge. Now all cultures worldwide can help each other save the past and use
it for the future.
Techniques :
Nainoa Thompson created the star compass, as the basis for direction finding in non instrument
navigation. The horizon is divided into 32 sections called houses. Nainoa has placed

The Common Reason For Vascular Dementia
Many people aren t aware of vascular dementia, and some of those who are aware of it
misunderstand the disease. It s very important to be educated on how the disease could affect
you or someone you care about, and how you maybe able to deal with it. Cerebrovascular
disease, also known as vascular dementia, is the second to most common form of dementia. It is
characterized by blood vessels changing over time in the cerebrum (brain). The most common
reason for vascular dementia is due to aging of the body; but it is also tied to cholesterol and the
state of the walls of the blood vessels. Too much cholesterol and overall poor health of blood
vessels can cause a thickness in the lining of the vessel walls, therefore cutting off some of the
blood flow to the brain. Dementia often includes symptoms such as memory loss, trouble doing
normal everyday activities, and problem solving. Once the symptoms come, they will most
likely stay. They will only become worse and worse over time, so it s necessary to try and come
to terms with the disease. Caregivers can try to make the person affected as comfortable as
possible as their body is slowly transitioning. Because there is a loss of blood flow to the brain,
signals that are necessary in order to keep the body functioning properly eventually stop being
sent. The muscles will stop being sent signals to move, and sometimes the signal to breathe can
even be stopped. There are approximately 47.5 million people in the world who suffer

The Causes of Eating Disorders Essay
The Causes of Eating Disorders
There is no single cause for eating disorders. A number of factors, including cultural and family
pressures, chemical imbalances, and emotional and personality disorders collaborate to produce
both anorexia and bulimia, although each disorder is determined by different combinations of these
influences. Genetics may also play a small role.
Between 40% to 96% of all eating disordered patients experience depression and anxiety disorders;
depression is also common in families of patients with eating disorders. Bulimic patients are more
likely to report having emotional disorders and dysfunctional families than are anorexic restrictor
patients. It is not clear, however, whether emotional disorders are... Show more content on

Eating sweets increases serotonin.
Seasonality often affects both depression and eating disorders. In many people, depression is
more severe in darker winter months. Similarly, a subgroup of bulimic patients suffer from a
specific form of bulimia that worsens in winter and fall; such patients are more apt to have started
bingeing at an earlier age and to binge more frequently than those whose bulimia is more
consistent year round. Onset of anorexia appears to peak in May, which is also the peak month for
suicide.
Anxiety disorders are very common in anorexia and bulimia. Phobias and obsessive compulsive
disorder (OCD) usually precede the onset of the eating disorder, while panic disorder tends to
follow. Social phobias, in which a person is fearful about being humiliated in public, are common
in both eating disorders. People with anorexia are especially prone to obsessive compulsive
disorder. Obsessions are recurrent or persistent mental images, thoughts, or ideas, which may result
in compulsive behavior repetitive, rigid, and self prescribed routines that are intended to prevent
the manifestation of the obsession. Women with anorexia may become obsessed with exercise,
dieting, and food. They often develop compulsive rituals e.g., weighing every bit of food, cutting it
into tiny pieces, or putting it into tiny containers. The presence of OCD with either anorexia or
bulimia does not

Why I Should Be A Teacher
I want to be a teacher to continue to serve. I have served twenty years as officer in the United
States Army and I want to continue to serve others in a different capacity. Through my time in
service and later as member of the civilian work force I have seen the struggles of workers and
employers as they struggle to find sustainable matches. One of the answers to this struggle a is
better prepared work force. However, there are segments of our country that have been
systematically left out, and I wantto address that.
I grew up in Seattle during the de segregation, and it was normal for me to be the only black kid
in my class. As society around me came to grips with the change in the city, I had to go to
school. I could wait for programs and understanding to take hold and remove the old ways. I was
labeled one of those kids , a disruptive child in the class, until at the behest of my parents and
school administrators, I was tested. The test show I was not challenged by the normal material
which lead to the behavior and soon I was challenged.
However, my story doesn t end there. I still had to face the challenges that our current
disadvantage students face and there was a time where my future was in question. However, by
the grace of a few dedicated teachers, I was able to overcome my obstacles and find some success
in the classroom, because of that I want to pay it forward to the next generation. Because of the
efforts of so many, I have gone on to earn my

Second-Wave Feminism and Labour in Canada
Canadian workplaces today seem to be a fairly diverse place, with a blend of many religions,
ethnicities, and genders present. However, although people preach affirmative action and melting
pots in current times, many inequality and power issues still abound. One strikingly noticeable
example is gender discrimination. Women in the workforce face many challenges like smaller
wages, harassment, male privilege in hiring or promotions, and lack of support when pregnant or
raising children. One half of the planet is women, and it can be assumed the same for Canada, but
they still face judgment at work because they lack the authority to dispute against big corporations
or even their male supervisor. It cannot be argued that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
al, 1996, p. 65). Minority women faced greater oppression, and were less likely to be hired. If
they were lucky enough to find a job, it was usually low ranking, part time, and short term, as
employers eagerly replaced them with Caucasians, men or both (Frances et. al, 1996, pp. 69 70).
Part time work was very common, with 25% of female workers part time in 1989 (Frances et. al,
1996, p. 66), displaying an employer s reluctance to allow women employees. Even as more
females entered the workforce despite resistance, they were still discriminated against due to the
current powers in charge.
The main goal of second wave feminism with regards to women and labour was changing the
power structure through legal means to ensure female workers. To begin this movement, a royal
commission was called for. The Royal Commission on the Status of Women (RCSW) was
created to bring equality to women all over Canada, not just in the workforce. It was needed due
to the influx of women at work in the 1960s after large numbers of women stated working in both
male and female oriented employment in 1943 due to the Second World War. Many refused to quit
their jobs after the war ended and the soldiers returned (Morris, 2013). Although legally allowed to
work, it is obvious through widely known tropes of the time (the good housewife versus bad female
labourer) that women were discouraged from working outside the home. Student

Book Of Job Rhetorical Analysis
The Book of Job opens with a description of Job, a blameless and upright man who is faithful to
God and adheres to His commandments. Satan suggests that the only reason Job is faithful to God
is because God has blessed him with only good things in his life; Job has never had to experience
tremendous pain or sufferingthus far. In response to this, Godallows Satanto take away Job s
possessions, to kill his children, and to inflict bodily harm to him in an attempt to get Job to turn
on God. After all these horrible things happen, Job still refuses to curse God s name. Instead, Job
begins to curse the things around him, questioning why he was ever born in the first place and
wondering why God is allowing this to happen. In Job 40 42, God asks Job a series of rhetorical
questions that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this idea of measure for measure did not explain the injustices and bad things
happening to good people that the Rabbis saw in their everyday lives. One of the most accepted
explanations for this seeming inconsistency is that there is life beyond the grave which gives a
distinct experience that must be taken into consideration (Cohen 116). Additionally, Rabbi Mier
s line, And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, although he may not deserve it, And I
will show mercy on whom I will show mercy, although he may not deserve it, sums up the idea
that God sometimes acts in mysterious ways that are above human reasoning (Blackboard).
Similarly, a writing from Rabbi Joseph addresses how good people can pass away before their
time comes. Once again, the Rabbi suggests that tragic things like this are a part of life and
explains how one must have faith that God s plan will all work out in the end

  • 2. Physician Assistant Assignments A day in the life of a modern day female physician assistant depends greatly on the personal preference of said woman. One of the best things about taking physician assisting into consideration is the multiple jobs that one could choose from depending on what they want to specialize in. But no matter what job one chooses to specialize in, the activities, working conditions, and physical demands are all fairly similar. Physician assistants provide basic care in all areas of medicineincluding primary care, family medicine, and emergency medicine. • 3. Essay On Health Disparity In African American Men The higher incidence of prostate cancer in African American/Black men compared to other racial /ethnic groups is a major health disparity. The statistics surrounding this health disparity are scary, with African American men having a prostate cancer mortality rate twice as high as whites and a prostate cancerincidence two thirds higher (Modlin, 2012). The health disparity of African American men s incidence of prostate canceris a huge problem from a public health perspective because it makes African American men less productive, there are higher costs in the healthcare field than would be if the gap didn t exist, and a loss of sense of control from African American men because of financial concerns/aftermath of treatment. One behavioral influence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A biological influence on this health disparity is a genetic predisposition seen in African American men. Several studies have shown a chromosome that is more common in African American men that increases the risk of prostate cancer. The chromosome is 8q24 variants, which is the most commonly seen, as well as, BCL2 and EphB2 linking to a higher incidence of prostate cancer (Modlin, 2012). The genetic predisposition has also been proven to cause prostate cancer to be a more aggressive disease in African Americans, likely leading to the higher mortality rates. The behavioral influence of being less likely to get screened and the biological influence of a genetic predisposition interact to influence the health disparity. There is no way of changing the genetic predisposition so that already puts African American men in a place for higher incidence. Being they already have that higher incidence due to genetics, adding into the equation African Americans being less likely to be screened only makes the health disparity ... • 4. Essay on “Higher Education Without Higher Interest Rates” The current state of the economy has spurred a debate as to what type of education is worth the time and study that students invest. Some contend that students should attain degrees in more quantitative subjects, such as math and science. Others state that vocational degrees are best in this economy. Personal views aside, a central tenet is clear a college education, often complemented by postgraduate education, is the reliable path to success for most Americans. That being said, there are still several real life obstacles that impede access to such an education. There are several, specific public policy initiatives that can help alleviate these hindrances. In order for Americans to have more job opportunities with higher wages, Congress... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, higher education is valuable but expensive. Most would agree that higher education encourages ingenuity and critical thinking attributes which are valuable in any profession. Though people like to cite Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg as not finishing college but finding once in a lifetime success, the rule remains that those individuals are the exception, not the rule. Having a college degree makes attaining a higher paying job possible. Clearly higher education pays off, but there are some people who do not have enough money to pay for college. Only thirty percent of Americans have earned a college degree. This number does not seem staggering, but when compared with college tuition debt to credit card debt, the results are stark. In general, Americans have more college tuition debt than credit card debt (State of the Union). When considering an average college graduate and his or her consumer/credit debt, it is easy to see why the student loan burden is one that students find increasingly difficult to confront. This is worsened by the current state of the economy, where educated men and women have difficulties finding jobs because of the market. As a result, they are straddled with student loan debt. This debt, coupled with consumer debt and dim job prospects, are a burden which can easily become overwhelming for the average 22 year old (Federal Student Aid). • 5. Computer Software Attacks According to Ponemon Institute Research Report , Virus, worms, Trojans and malware are the most common type of attacks. These are most preventable with robust anti virus and anti malware software. Many people think that having a good anti virus or an inbuilt firewall will prevent most of the attacks. These security measures will not control most of the other attacks like Denial of Service, Zero Day exploits or malicious codes. The same reports also state that the cost of Virus, Worms, Trojans, and Malware attackare the lowest among all other types of attack. (Ponemon Institute 2013). So even if the company spent most of their security budget on anti virus, it will still incur a huge cost if any other attacks are successful. According to hackmageddon.com, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) and SQL Injection (SQLi) are the top two attack techniques in the year 2013 (Passeri 2014). These types of attack can only be prevented with proper network planning and regularly testing network infrastructure for possible security issues. As more and more tools are available to amateur hackers they will try or attempt to break into insecure networks using most vulnerable exploits (DataLossDB, Data Loss Latest Incidents 2014). The success of these network attacks can lead to data theft, data loss, compliance failures and website outages. These breaks can do not only cause legal issue due to failure of compliance, but may likewise result in customer dissatisfaction. Dissatisfied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a condition in which an individual has reoccurring, obsessions and compulsions (The National Institute of Mental Health, 2017). The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders has recently been updated to group together Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and trichotillomania together and redefined the diagnoses of excoriating disorder and hoarding disorder. Source F states that the conditions of life in which they find themselves remain impoverished and highly oppressive . Modern Aboriginals are more susceptible to serious diseases, have an abnormally low life expectancy for both genders, which is odd for a well developed country such as Australia, have a high unemployment rate and those which are employed are paid less than their white counterparts (F). This is further demonstrated in Source H, where Aboriginal children were withdrawn from schools if white parents complained, which now directly correlates to the high unemployment rate. The children received a low level of education, as they were expected to work as manual labourers and domestic servants (J). Alistair Macleod- Modern World Versus Traditional World Essay Modern World versus Traditional World The stories from Alistair Macleod s The Lost Salt Gift of Blood are often related to the lives of the people of the Maritimes who are commonly miners, fishermen and farmers. The author repeatedly examines similar themes and issues in his short stories such as isolation, choices versus consequences and the concept of dying culture. However, the most prominent theme deals with the contrast between the rural ways of life and the more modern city life. This theme is not only limited to the Maritime culture; it is something that can be universally understood. Within any culture there are deep rooted traditions that affect the way people view education, entertainment, and jobs. However, due to the advances throughout the world a conflict between modernity and the traditional world has arose. The cyborg has no origin, therefore, it can understand the world without bias. Haraway discusses three important boundaries that support her main ideas throughout her essay. The boundary between human and animal is Haraway s way of saying that humans and animals are the same and should not be put into separate categories. The cyborg can think beyond the thought of humans and animals separately and view them as one species. The boundary between animal human and machine is used to describe the way Haraway views machines. Machines were lifeless. Nevertheless, machines have advanced beyond belief and there is no longer a distinction between humans and machines. Tommy, though a failure, possesses some rare human qualities alien to the denizens of waste land like western civilization rendered arid and vapid by Mammon worship. The focal point, in this study, is to establish the fact that in spite of having various negative and un heroic qualities, Tommy, by defying social structure and network, asserts his non conformity which, along with his humanity, love and philanthropy, aversion for power and material success and most importantly, his power of overcoming... Viewed from the perspective of this definition, we see that Tommy Wilhelm, the protagonist of Saul Bellows masterpiece Seize the Day seems to be an anti hero. Wilhelm like other Bellovian heroes has the fatal flaws inherent in his personality; he is an alienated individual living on the margin of the society (Obaidulla Ahmed, 2001, p.76). Bellow s writing puts a lot of emphasis on the themes of the individual versus society and individual in self conflict. In his writing, society is always portrayed as impersonal, mechanical and indifferent to individuals (Dutton, 1982, p.1). After the ceremony at the synagogue the whole family gathers to congratulate the young adult who just took their own step into the faith of Judaism. At these parties a lot of food is served, the person who just had their Bah/Bar Mitzvah receives their gifts. There is no religious aspect to the after party of the ceremony at the synagogue so anything can take place during the party and it can have a theme to make it more entertaining for the guests. These two religions have celebrated these ceremonies for centuries and both religions continue to today. They are celebrated almost the same but Catholic s now do confirmation with groups and Jews still have individual Bar/Bah Mitzvah s. • 23. The Invasion Of Iraq By The United States Essay Over the previous two decades, the number of countries acquiring a democratic regime has increased dramatically. Democracy is a political regime allowing a system of government that is based on the belief of freedom and equal justice. Power is held by elected representatives through free and fair elections, resulting in a system that reflects the people s choices. Democratic countries rarely, if ever, wage war on each other and tend to resolve disputes in a more peaceful manner rather than declaring war on their opposition. However, they are not the utopias of peace that many people envision democracies to be. The invasion of Iraqby the United Statesof America in 2003 stands as a strong example where the impact of a forced regime change has resulted in unrest and violence. IGO s like the UN promote democracyin a less invasive and obstructive way and are a lot more successful. The invasion of Iraq clearly demonstrates the dangers of promoting democracy in an undemocratic international system. The spread of democracy cannot be imposed by force as it is discrediting the idea of freedom that the regime itself represents. Is democracy a reason for peace just as much as it is a justification for war? I believe democracy does make the world a more peaceful place, however, the forceful spread of democracy does not. Immanuel Kant in Perpetual Peace 1765 originally brought up the idea that democratic countries would be more peaceful than one with a monarchical governing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The USA born natives often resented the immigrants for their hard work, determination and success. They would also experience anger whenever the newcomers went against the grain. All this resent and anger resulted in many negative stereotypes that fueled antagonism towards many ethnicities. Latin Americans are becoming increasing targets to biased crimes. These stereotypes have a long history that started in California and southwest America where in periods of anti immigrant movements, both new settlers and veteran US citizens of Hispanic descent were unfairly blamed for social and economic problems, and were also victims of harassment and, at the worst, deportation. • 26. The Jewish Roots of Christian Liturgy I Introduction First Christian communities appeared in Jewish Palestine and Diaspora after the death of Jesus of Nazareth, called the Christ, around 30 CE. Not only Jesus himself was a Jew, but also his followers and very first members of the new growing community were mainly Jews. They all shared the Jewish belief, the Sacred Scripture that Christians later started to call the Old Testament (OT), and were not aware of founding a new religion. A closer examination of Jewish worship will let us understand how it influenced the new Christian worship. We will have a closer look at places of worship, liturgical sources and customs which were common at that time. A last task will be to ask whether there are any significant Jewish elements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some references to this pattern in the gospels (e.g. Lk 2,38; Mt 11,25 30; Jn 11,41 42). Further we will see how some of these prayers in connection with the domestic Jewish worship were essential for the Christian liturgy of the Eucharist. D. The third main place of Jewish worship was home, especially during the time of meal. In the OT the communion of meal and feast was understood as a sign of covenant (eg. Gen 26,30). The Sabbath as a day was a special sign of covenant with God (Ex 31, 13 15) and so was the meal. The main meal of the year was the Passover meal, as a memorial day for the Lord s passover in Egypt and deliverance from slavery (Ex 12). The weekly Sabbath meal on Friday evenings and the yearly Passover meal thus became quite elaborate. Bradshaw reminds that there is unfortunately no detailed evidence about meal prayers in the first century, but according to the later evidence many assume that every meal started with berakot (plural of berakah) and ended with them. The opening berakot were pronounced over wine and bread, while the berakot at the end of the meal, called Birkat ha mazon, consisted of a berakah for food, a hodayah for revelation and a tefillah for redemption (Bradshaw: 44f; Kavanagh: 621). • 32. Evaluation Of A Risk Corridor For clarification a risk corridor is a formed idea that if insurance companies rake in higher cost than expected the government will reimburse the insurer to a certain percentage. As an example, if an insurer s actual claims in 2014 are at least 3% greater than the claims projected when the insurer set 2014 rates, the government must reimburse the insurer for half of the excess (Radnofsky, 2014). On top of that, if total claims jump 8% the government would be liable for 80% of the excess costs. This is a really risky move because the unhealthy population with insurance could be extremely costly. The risk corridors gave third party payers the re insurance by providing insurance to all parties. These insurers in 2015 needed massive bailouts from the government for substantial losses reaching 2.5 billion. This can become an increasing expense over the years. Most of all the taxpayers will be on the hook for these enormous losses, while funding private shareholder owned insurance companies. The main issue at hand was the Department of Health and Human Services didn t pay the full percentage that was applicable under the risk corridor, which bankrupt some insurance providers. Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But this has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for new ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a result, the American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse specialists is working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program developed an evidence based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how health facilities can work together to improve the quality of service delivery through good management, as well as evaluation of its implication on performance, training, and future nursing practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 2016). By examining the underlying meanings in the television show, one might find that achieving happiness is more complex than simply being a good and honorable person with a plethora of power. At... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having said that, power plays a major role in Buffy s struggle for happiness. At times, her power is taken for granted, whether it be by her own actions or by those of her allies, and such an act weighs heavily on Buffy. There are times throughout the series that Buffy questions her physical ability and if she can truly trust her own strength. Just because Buffy embodies a powerful warrior doesn t necessarily mean that she automatically is granted the happiness she is thought to deserve. It is often the case that her power causes a strain on her personal life which results in an extremely unhappy Buffy. So, while her power gives her the ability to do good and be an honorable person, it also adds an unexpected problem in her life. In Beyond Good and Evil, Nietzsche explains that the gaze of a slave is not well disposed towards the virtues of the powerful; he possesses skepticism and mistrust...against everything good ...he would like to persuade himself that even happiness is not genuine there (3). Buffy clearly resembles what Nietzsche was saying by not trusting her power and being skeptical of its effect on her life. Buffy the Vampire Slayer often portrays the dark side of what is commonly thought of as enviable. The power that Buffy possess is shown to be another obstacle that keeps the character from truly being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Essay on Hawaiian Navigation Hawaiian Navigation How did the Polynesians find their way to Hawaii, over two thousand miles from any other land? Was it over population at home, or political turmoil? Whatever reason for leaving these people used amazing knowledge and skill of the ocean and of the sky to navigate them to this new land. They faced the unknown and braved into the wide open ocean for long periods of time. The real focus in this paper is on the navigation techniques that they used in these voyages throughout the Pacific. It s impossible to teach someone the significance or the act of loving the stars and the ocean but that s what makes navigation without instruments (wayfinding) so beautiful. • 41. The Common Reason For Vascular Dementia Many people aren t aware of vascular dementia, and some of those who are aware of it misunderstand the disease. It s very important to be educated on how the disease could affect you or someone you care about, and how you maybe able to deal with it. Cerebrovascular disease, also known as vascular dementia, is the second to most common form of dementia. It is characterized by blood vessels changing over time in the cerebrum (brain). The most common reason for vascular dementia is due to aging of the body; but it is also tied to cholesterol and the state of the walls of the blood vessels. Too much cholesterol and overall poor health of blood vessels can cause a thickness in the lining of the vessel walls, therefore cutting off some of the blood flow to the brain. Dementia often includes symptoms such as memory loss, trouble doing normal everyday activities, and problem solving. Once the symptoms come, they will most likely stay. They will only become worse and worse over time, so it s necessary to try and come to terms with the disease. Caregivers can try to make the person affected as comfortable as possible as their body is slowly transitioning. Because there is a loss of blood flow to the brain, signals that are necessary in order to keep the body functioning properly eventually stop being sent. The muscles will stop being sent signals to move, and sometimes the signal to breathe can even be stopped. There are approximately 47.5 million people in the world who suffer ... • 42. The Causes of Eating Disorders Essay The Causes of Eating Disorders There is no single cause for eating disorders. A number of factors, including cultural and family pressures, chemical imbalances, and emotional and personality disorders collaborate to produce both anorexia and bulimia, although each disorder is determined by different combinations of these influences. Genetics may also play a small role. Between 40% to 96% of all eating disordered patients experience depression and anxiety disorders; depression is also common in families of patients with eating disorders. Bulimic patients are more likely to report having emotional disorders and dysfunctional families than are anorexic restrictor patients. It is not clear, however, whether emotional disorders are... In many people, depression is more severe in darker winter months. Similarly, a subgroup of bulimic patients suffer from a specific form of bulimia that worsens in winter and fall; such patients are more apt to have started bingeing at an earlier age and to binge more frequently than those whose bulimia is more consistent year round. Onset of anorexia appears to peak in May, which is also the peak month for suicide. Anxiety disorders are very common in anorexia and bulimia. Phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) usually precede the onset of the eating disorder, while panic disorder tends to follow. Social phobias, in which a person is fearful about being humiliated in public, are common in both eating disorders. People with anorexia are especially prone to obsessive compulsive disorder. Obsessions are recurrent or persistent mental images, thoughts, or ideas, which may result in compulsive behavior repetitive, rigid, and self prescribed routines that are intended to prevent the manifestation of the obsession. Women with anorexia may become obsessed with exercise, dieting, and food. They often develop compulsive rituals e.g., weighing every bit of food, cutting it into tiny pieces, or putting it into tiny containers. • 43. Why I Should Be A Teacher I want to be a teacher to continue to serve. I have served twenty years as officer in the United States Army and I want to continue to serve others in a different capacity. Through my time in service and later as member of the civilian work force I have seen the struggles of workers and employers as they struggle to find sustainable matches. One of the answers to this struggle a is better prepared work force. However, there are segments of our country that have been systematically left out, and I wantto address that. I grew up in Seattle during the de segregation, and it was normal for me to be the only black kid in my class. As society around me came to grips with the change in the city, I had to go to school. I could wait for programs and understanding to take hold and remove the old ways. I was labeled one of those kids , a disruptive child in the class, until at the behest of my parents and school administrators, I was tested. The test show I was not challenged by the normal material which lead to the behavior and soon I was challenged. However, my story doesn t end there. I still had to face the challenges that our current disadvantage students face and there was a time where my future was in question. However, by the grace of a few dedicated teachers, I was able to overcome my obstacles and find some success in the classroom, because of that I want to pay it forward to the next generation. Because of the efforts of so many, I have gone on to earn my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Second-Wave Feminism and Labour in Canada Canadian workplaces today seem to be a fairly diverse place, with a blend of many religions, ethnicities, and genders present. However, although people preach affirmative action and melting pots in current times, many inequality and power issues still abound. One strikingly noticeable example is gender discrimination. Women in the workforce face many challenges like smaller wages, harassment, male privilege in hiring or promotions, and lack of support when pregnant or raising children. One half of the planet is women, and it can be assumed the same for Canada, but they still face judgment at work because they lack the authority to dispute against big corporations or even their male supervisor. It cannot be argued that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al, 1996, p. 65). Minority women faced greater oppression, and were less likely to be hired. If they were lucky enough to find a job, it was usually low ranking, part time, and short term, as employers eagerly replaced them with Caucasians, men or both (Frances et. al, 1996, pp. 69 70). Part time work was very common, with 25% of female workers part time in 1989 (Frances et. al, 1996, p. 66), displaying an employer s reluctance to allow women employees. Even as more females entered the workforce despite resistance, they were still discriminated against due to the current powers in charge. The main goal of second wave feminism with regards to women and labour was changing the power structure through legal means to ensure female workers. To begin this movement, a royal commission was called for. The Royal Commission on the Status of Women (RCSW) was created to bring equality to women all over Canada, not just in the workforce. It was needed due to the influx of women at work in the 1960s after large numbers of women stated working in both male and female oriented employment in 1943 due to the Second World War. Many refused to quit their jobs after the war ended and the soldiers returned (Morris, 2013). Although legally allowed to work, it is obvious through widely known tropes of the time (the good housewife versus bad female labourer) that women were discouraged from working outside the home. • 45. Book Of Job Rhetorical Analysis The Book of Job opens with a description of Job, a blameless and upright man who is faithful to God and adheres to His commandments. Satan suggests that the only reason Job is faithful to God is because God has blessed him with only good things in his life; Job has never had to experience tremendous pain or sufferingthus far. In response to this, Godallows Satanto take away Job s possessions, to kill his children, and to inflict bodily harm to him in an attempt to get Job to turn on God. After all these horrible things happen, Job still refuses to curse God s name. Instead, Job begins to curse the things around him, questioning why he was ever born in the first place and wondering why God is allowing this to happen. In Job 40 42, God asks Job a series of rhetorical questions that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this idea of measure for measure did not explain the injustices and bad things happening to good people that the Rabbis saw in their everyday lives. One of the most accepted explanations for this seeming inconsistency is that there is life beyond the grave which gives a distinct experience that must be taken into consideration (Cohen 116). Additionally, Rabbi Mier s line, And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, although he may not deserve it, And I will show mercy on whom I will show mercy, although he may not deserve it, sums up the idea that God sometimes acts in mysterious ways that are above human reasoning (Blackboard).
