This document discusses the role of anthropology in a globalized world. It outlines how global integration since the Industrial Revolution has led to environmental degradation through increased pollution, resource use, and the anthropic changes defining the Anthropocene epoch. This rapid rate of environmental destruction is enabled by structural violence through military, economic and media power held by some groups over others. Anthropology can provide a holistic cultural perspective to help explain issues, identify relationships between problems, and shed light on challenges to solution finding in areas like overpopulation, malnutrition, violence and cultural changes in an increasingly globalized and transnational world.
