Inter arrival time between services
Inter arrival time between services are 1.144, .488, .024, 2.472, 2.304, .84, and .728
The service time for the channels are:
 =1/1.144 = 0.87

 =1/.024 = 41.67
 =1/ 2.472 = 0.40
 =1/ 2.304 = 0.43
 =1/ .84 = 1.19
 =1/ .728 = 1.37
Arrival time for the channels are:

Systems That Use Environment Friendly Refrigerants Essay
Refrigertion systems that use environment friendly refrigerants provide a property advantage when put
next to other refrigerant alternatives. However, the energy use associated with cooling operation and
therefore the environmental impacts associated with its genration and distribution usually outweigh
the choice of refrigerant. to attenuate environmental impacts associated with cooling operation, it s
affordable to guage the prospects of a clean supply of energy.
Research has incontestable that solar power is a perfect supply for low temperature heating
applications like area and domestic hot water heating.
From a property perspective, directly victimization star as a primary energy source is engaging as a
result of its universal availability, low environmental impact, and low or no in progress fuel cost.

Solar heating applications area unit intuitive since, once solar power is absorbed on a surface, the
surface temperature rises, providing a heating potential. The use of solar energy to supply refrigertion

Masculinity And Masculinity, By Michael Kimmel Essay
In western culture, men are often subject to extreme methods of proving their masculinity, and to
reinforce what it truly means to be a man. Michael Kimmel, famous sociologist said, Masculinity is
the relentless repudiation of the feminine (Kimmel, 2015), which not only reflects how men think
about themselves but how North Americans as an entire culture think about masculinity and manhood.
The following pages will be centered on issues of the lens of masculinity in contexts such as the
sphere of education, the predominance and dependence of social relationships, and most importantly
fatherhood, which will be of a larger focus as the male enters adulthood.
As a child, women and men are predominantly on the same page. With the exception of their shared
interests and activities. As a child grows up, the classroom setting starts to highlight the differences
between both boys and girls. Most often, education is catered towards girls and the learning styles that
girls flourish in (Vincent Ball, 2007). Girls outperform boys in almost every subject when they are
elementary school age (Vincent Ball, 2007) because in the classroom, it is taught that the qualities
with being a good student are most often synonymous with being a good girl, and here is where you
can see a dichotomy begin to occur (Vincent Ball, 2007). Boys are conditioned from the beginning to
understand that being a man, and being masculine is the polar opposite of what it means to be
feminine. Early

Pont Saint-Michel By Matisse
The first of the three, and my personal favorite, is Pont Saint Michel by Matisse. This piece is very
simple, yet has a calming and elegant color scheme and medium. This oil on canvas cityscape uses
rough brushstrokes and very few exact lines in order to show an inexact representation of the bridge
and its surrounding buildings. The buildings have very little true form, and seem to blend into one
another. Their colors are mostly primary, with reds, yellows, and blues standing out the most. These
aspects all intertwine in order to show an imperfect representation of a view that Matisse saw nearly
every day out of his window. Since Matisse painted this scene multiple times throughout the years that
he lived in this building, the transformation in his art styles is apparent. Therefore, this painting shows
his transition toward a Fauve composition, since he uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using raw and spontaneous style, de Vlaminck portrays a relaxed and simple man. His use of colors
blends the background to the point where it is indistinguishable, yet outlines features of Bouju s face.
The imprecise yet intentional brushstrokes show the clothing, face, pipe, and smoke only, allowing the
background to be ignored. This work shows the artist s style well, exhibiting the vibrant colors and
distinct brushstrokes of the Fauves. As it was painted in 1900, it shows the clothing style of the period
and the casual acceptance of smoking as a necessity. This piece shows the seemingly calm and
nonchalant nature of the subject, with his street clothes and pipe. I find this work intriguing, as it does
not explicitly show the minute details and features of the man s face, but instead conveys a sense of
tranquility in his demeanor. His stare is not one of judgment or bewilderment, but is instead an

Granny Pods Research Paper
Granny Pods in Your Backyard as a Solution To Nursing Homes Research shows that, in developed
countries, the number of older people are growing much faster than any other age group. By the year
2050 the number of people older than 60 will exceed the number of those younger than 15. Hawing
this in mind, it is clear that nursing homes are going to be crowded and much more expensive in the
future. So, instead of being thrown into one, propose to your children or grandchildren a different
solution a Granny pod . What s a granny pod ? Granny pods are pre made, or pre fabricated cottages

Benefits First and the most important benefit of having a granny pod instead of going into a nursing
home is that you are close to your love ones, literally in their backyard. As you ve seen earlier in the
article, granny pods are much cheaper than nursing homes, so there s benefit number two. Some
would say that residents in the nursing homes will have a full and constant attention and that the
hygiene is better there than in the backyard cottage. Well, hygiene has to be at the highest level
whether you are at the nursing home or in granny pod. Having in mind the granny pods aren t huge
structures with hundreds of rooms, keeping them clean isn t going to be much of a struggle. I don t
think that you will need more than two hours a week to keep yours clean; and you can always hire
professionals in domestic cleaning in Sydney area to make it spotless. When it comes to attention,
modern technology development gave us the possibility to monitor our older ones 24 hours a day,

What do you think about when someone says Agriculture ? I think about all the hard working men and
women who have jobs associated with agriculture. For example, veterinarians, agronomists, wildlife
inspectors, and even my ag teacher. Today, I have interviewed my cousin, Sarah Marx, to help build
interest for myself as well as others in agriculture. Sarah grew up in Beemer, Nebraska. So, agriculture
has been an interest of her s her entire life. Sarah was apart of the Beemer Dreemers 4 H club for 12

The High School Student Program
Choice is a luxury most in rural China cannot afford but, as a 16 year old girl who had just arrived to
the United States, the myriad of choices that lay before me was extremely awesome. I equated the
impressive array of choice in terms related to good fortune or even wealth, and this beginning would
serve as the impetus to my achievements in this country thus far. But, what compelled me to leave my
home and family, and travel alone to this country, was to become educated. Where I am from in China,
education seems almost to be a type of magic that can only be wished for; it is elusive to most. I
recognized that education lay at the core of opportunity, and if I focused and worked hard I could one
day share the good fortune of choice as well as the magic that only education can inspire others, both
here as well as in China. I arrived to the U.S. as a high school junior under the J 1 Visa, Secondary
School Student Program and had the privilege to have stayed in Virginia with a family headed by
parents who are both school teachers. Upon completion, I obtained an F 1 student visa and completed
my senior year in 2011 at a rural boarding school in northeast Georgia. Upon arriving to Drexel
University (Drexel) as a freshman I had already decided that my future professional life would, in
some way, be in education. After transferring to New York University (NYU) as a junior, I would
choose a degree in economics, which I felt to be fundamental in terms of my aspirations as a leader

The Presentation Of Self In Everyday Life Erving Goffman...
This week, we talked about the development of the self. The most interesting readings for me was The
Presentation of Self in Everyday Life by Erving Goffman. In this piece, Goffman discusses the
dramaturgical theory of social interaction, which is the view that we put on a social facade in our daily
lives, as if we are all actors in a theatrical performance. There are two main points that really stood out
to me. First was impression management, more specifically, the (mis)alignment of expressions given
and expressions given off. This is so common in everyday life. One of our goals as life actors is
confirming that others are making a good impression, but we often struggle to convey that because of
a misalignment in our explicit verbal cues

Has there ever been a time when you felt scared, but knew that your fear couldn t could not take over

composed by Niccolo Ammaniti, I m Not Scared, Michele learns the hardships of life, his fears, his

parts that make up Michele but the most important one was his fear and what it led him to do and how
it made him selfless. Although identity has existed as a struggle throughout time, it can exist as the

Quincey Schoolboy Q Hanley
Quincey ScHoolboy Q Hanley was born on October 26, 1986, in Lucius D. Clay Kaserne, an
American military complex in Wiesbaden, Germany, to a couple who split up before his birth. His
father remained in the Army, but Q and his mother moved to Houston, Texas. Because of the strained
relationship between his mother and father, Q was given a random last name possessed by neither
parent. Shortly after moving back to the United States, he and his mother relocated to her former home
in South Central, Los Angeles. Eventually he and his mother settled on 51st Street between the
notorious Hoover Street and Figueroa Streets, both famous for the abundance of drugs and street
violence. Q s mother worked as a night dispatcher for AAA, so he did not see her very often while
attending school and was partially raised by his grandmother. Despite growing up in South Central,
Los Angeles, Q s music influences are primarily East Coast rappers such as The Notorious B.I.G.,
Nas, and 50 Cent. Unlike Kendrick Lamar, Q did not develop an interest in writing and performing
music until his teenage years, and he did not start recording music professionally until he was in his

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Photovoltaics
Photovoltaics. Photovoltaic panels that conform to curved or otherwise irregular surfaces offer
numerous advantages over the heavy and rigid panels that account for most of today s photovoltaic
electricity generation. Building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) could allow photovoltaic laminates to
be applied directly to building surfaces or incorporated in building products such as shingles and

An Argument For Rose In The Hall Of Fame
Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten, and be

you will hear about the likes of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson,
and Ernie Banks. None of these men have the most hits in baseball s storied history. The man that
does, however, is not in the Hall of Fame.
There have only been 15,213 men to play in the MLB, only 29 of those accumulated 3,000 career hits.
Peter Edward Rose Sr, better known as just Pete, played Major League Baseball for 23 years. In his

to Forgive Pete Rose and Put Him in Hall of Fame?) Similarly, Hall of Fame second baseman Joe
Morgan thinks it is long past time for his long time teammate Pete Rose to join him in Cooperstown. I
think if you are going to allow guys with PEDs on the ballot, then we have to allow him on the Ballot,
Morgan told USA Today. Let s face it, he s been punished for 24 years. I think they have to take a
second look at Pete now that this (Biogenesis) has come out . (Joe Morgan: Time for Hall of Fame to

would be valid. The right question to ask is What will not reinstating Pete Rose due for baseball?
(Rethinking Rose s Reinstatement) He wouldn t be immediately inducted into Cooperstown if
reinstated. Major League Baseball s Committee will have to vote Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame if the
ban were removed. The Hall of Fame is controlled by Major League Baseball, nevertheless there is no
Hall of Fame without the players. If the players were to show a united front for Rose, it could mean a
great deal to the Commissioner and other high ranking baseball officials (Should Pete Rose Be in the
Hall of Fame? Let the Voters Decide). For his enshrinement into Cooperstown Pete would need 75%
of the votes of the 65 member committee. If Rose were to be reinstated, he would not appear on the

Committee. Nevertheless, the Cincinnati Reds announced that the Hit King would be inducted into

Human Nature In The Workplace Environment
Human Nature How has the workplace environment treated people? Has it been life changing to know
the day will be amazing or to feel as though working like a dog and getting nowhere? Every human
must go to work to make money and provide for their family. If not, they will not live a happy,
successful life. Their kids will be miserable as they may not have the luxury of clean clothes and food
to feed their infinite hunger. Millions of people have jobs, but may not feel valued or excited to go to
them. They may feel overworked and undervalued with no purpose, or may not have a strong support
system in their workplace. Human nature can both positively and negatively affect the workplace
environment. Supervisors are very important towards the workplace environment. Without them,
workers may slack off and not get the job done as efficiently as needed. To be a well liked supervisor,
they need to care and understand their employees. If a supervisor acts like a robot and just gives
orders, the employees will not respect them as much as if they cared and asked them how their day is
going and what they can do to help. This will give workers a feeling of comfort while at the job. The
supervisors also need to recognize the hard work that is completed by the employees. This will make
workers feel valued and purposeful. If people are not recognized for the hard work, it can cause
dissatisfaction within their career and make them feel like they are doing immense amounts of

Jurassic Period Research Paper
The Jurassic Period is a time period were new dinosaurs were being discovered and found. It was
about 199.6 to 145.5 million years ago. Some of the species that were found in the Jurassic Period are
the Stegosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Allosaurus. Each dinosaur had their own
characteristics for survival. The weather in the Jurassic Period was warm and humid. The tectonic
shift took place, several rifts were formed and filled with water, forming, what would later become
many of today s oceans and seas. These oceans were small and shallow giving way to an excellent,
warm, tropical climate. Surface waters in the low latitudes were about 20 °C (68 °F), while deep
waters were about 17 °C (63 °F). Some of the plant fossils ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The scientists believe that the herbivores ran out of plants, and trees and so all of the herbivores died
and after all of the herbivores died, all of the Carnivores died as well. Another theory is that a big

thought of happening was a disease. Disease may of happened from one dinosaur getting sick and then
it just passed on from dinosaur to dinosaur. I would like to live during that time period because it
would be a cool sight to see all of the dinosaurs and seeing what really happened to them. Another
reason why I would like to live during their time period is to see what kind of habitat their living in
and how they react. The final reason why I would like to live in the Jurassic Period would be that I
would like to study their behavior towards other dinosaurs, and how some of them evolve throughout
their lifetime. In conclusion, we rely on fossils and other scientific findings to help us understand how
dinosaurs lived so long ago. The Jurassic Period was one of the more fascinating periods to learn
about and one of the more interesting things that I ve

Disadvantages Of Antitrust Law
Chief Justice Roberts stated courts in the U.S. have historically granted injunctions upon a finding of
infringement since the 19th century. The Antitrust Division in the U.S. also admits a patent owner s
rights to exclude are similar to the rights enjoyed by owners of other forms of private property in the
Antitrust Guidelines for the Licensing of Intellectual Property. Therefore, as a fundamental principle,
antitrust law does not generally prohibit the holder of any other property right from seeking an
injunction to vindicate that right. The FTC has the right to regulate unfair methods of competition and
unfair or deceptive acts or practices under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. During the
past two decades, the FTC has been heavily involved in several high profile SEP disputes, including
Dell Computer Corp., N Data, Rambus Inc. v. FTC, Motorola Mobility, and Bosch GmbH. The FTC
generally invokes competition law as a basis for investigation over these cases under Section 2 of the
Sherman Act and Section 7 of the Clayton Act. The particular concern ... Show more content on

These consent agreements mostly impose strict requirements for an SEP holder to seek injunctive
relief. For example, in Bosch GmbH, the FTC dictated that Bosch GmbH can only seek injunctions
against an unwilling licensee. The unwilling licensee shows unwillingness by refusing to accept the
SEP holder s offer of a license on F/RAND terms, or a court s determination. In Motorola Mobility,
the order prohibits Google/Motorola from making any future claims for injunctions over a F/RAND
Patent against a potential licensee. This unwilling licensee similarly should refuse (1) a F/RAND offer
either in writing or in sworn testimony, (2) a court order, (3) a binding arbitration determined F/RAND
terms, or (4) simply not replying to the written confirmation requested in a F/RAND Terms from an

Why Is Australia Marginalised
In Australia, the Muslim culture is seen as a marginalised group in our society, but for what reasons?
Its becoming increasingly difficult and complex with the rise in Islamaphobia and anti Islamic
sentiments that filter through the Australian society and media for Muslims in Australia.
There is an us and them mentality in terms of Australian relations with Muslims living in Australia.
There seems to be several reasons for this. The Australian society doesn t seem to cater nor care for
the traditions and religion of Muslim people living in Australia, there is a high volume of
discrimination and racism targeting Muslims. Western Sydney and Charles Sturt university recently

Identifying Mental Illnesses
Mental illness refers to a condition, which affects the thinking, feeling, and mood of a person.
Apparently, this condition affects the ability of a person to function every day and the capacity to
relate to others (Tracy, 2015). Here are some diagnosis and tests that can be carried out to determine
mental illness in a person: A psychological assessment where a mental health provider helps a patient
understand the behavior patterns, feelings, thoughts, and symptoms that can cause mental illness. At
this point, a patient may be asked to fill out a questionnaire to assist in answering the questions. Lab
tests where health practitioners check out the thyroid function of a patient or screen for drugs and

HARCOURT MUNICIPAL)
ABSTRACT
This study focused on The Role of Achievement Motivation in Industrial development: A study of Port
Harcourt Municipal. The onus of the research was to X ray the extent to which the role of achievement
motivation from childhood could be instrumental to industrial development in Nigerian. In addition,
some of the major objectives were to discover if the values of a given soda economic milieu and
achievement motivation could have a blend and affect a nation s level of industrial development; to
unravel the existence of low level of achievement values and lack of industrial growth.
The researcher raised some hypothesis. These hypotheses were to establish if there is a significant
relationship between the inability to inculcate achievement motivation in an individual and low level
of its contribution to industrial development later in life; also to find out, if the more a family
inculcates achievement values in a child through socialization, the more, or the higher the tendencies
for the child to work hard and contribute meaningfully to industrial development.

Learning Disabilities Essay
Learning Disabilities
Eleven year old Anna is outgoing and bright. She attempts to work hard, but her progress in school has
always been slow. She is a year behind her peers, particularly in her English class and her teachers
have slowly begun to reduce their expectations of her. Her parents are worried because her confidence
for learning is decreasing, and there is less motivation for her to do homework and class assignments.
A psychologist found that her intelligence is in the gifted range, but she has difficulty in making out

With this mandate, came the difficulty of defining what exactly a learning disability constitutes.
Learning Disabilities generally is viewed as a category in federal legislation referring to disorders
involved in understanding or using language, manifested in imperfect ability to listen, think, speak,
read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations (EBSCO, 2005, p.1). Students with learning
disabilities have average or above average intelligence but suffer from impaired brain functions or also
known as neurological handicaps. This impairment makes it difficult for them to acquire skills and
knowledge accurately and fast enough to keep pace with average academic progress. Once believed to
be rare, learning disabilities are now believed to affect approximately 5 percent of the population
(Encarta, 2003, p.1); many experts believe the percentage to be actually higher. Learning disabilities
do not refer to a single disorder, but to a wider range of problems, which can include language,
memory, attention, and organization; that can affect any area of academic performance.
Causes of Learning Disorders
...Students with learning disabilities are by far the largest and the fastest growing special needs group
in the American school population (Smith Strick, 1997, p. 11). With this being the case, urgent

The Significance Of The Quilt In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
There has been plenty of time when people decided that they needed change. Can breaking the

hometown to Hattiesburg,Ms. I eventually went back to visit, and I stumbled upon a problem. I couldn

should get the quilt that was made by her grandma. Dee Wangero came back, and she was a changed
girl. Even though Dee wanted the quilt,Maggie should acquire the quilt because she was willing to
offer the quilt to Dee. Maggie maybe don t know the value of the quilts, but she wants them because
of grandma. Maggie said, I can member Grandma Dee without the quilts , according to (Walker,203).
This clearly states that she could remember Grandma Dee if Dee Wangero gets the quilts. Dee
Wangero; on the other hand, says, Maggie can t appreciate these quilts! , according to (Walker,202).
Dee is stating that Maggie will not take care of the quilts. Another reason why Maggie should get the
quilt is,because she is always gracious. She doesn t get much as Dee does. According to Everyday Use

Perceptual Disorders That Can Disrupt Visual Perception
In the following essay an attempt will be made to look at the different perceptual disorders that can
disrupt visual perception. Efforts will be made to compare (which by definition is the pointing out of
differences and similarities) and it will also attempt to contrast (by pointing out the differences) in a
logical and factual way. To do this, it is important to first define what is (a) meant by Visual perception
and what it is thought to (B)encompass, and the (c) different perceptual disorders that may
consequently lead to a disruption in this visual perception. The following account will culminate in a
factual recording of the effect these disorders may have on the individual and the resulting disruptions
that may occur within visual perception.
(A) Explained as simplistically as possible, Visual perception itself is the ability to interpret one s
surrounding environment by, processing information through the eye to the brain. The eye is a sense
organ which is part of the sensory system which in turn transmits information about one s
environment to the brain.
(B) The eye sees its environment by using light, at first the image of one s environment is perceived as
upside down but their eye changes this image to the correct way around; this process is called
Reception. The image is then transformed from electromagnetic energy to electrochemical energy; this
process is called Transduction. At this point the energy is transmitted along the individual s optic
nerve to

Book Of Exodus Comparison Essay
The Book of Exodus, known in Hebrew as Sefer Shemot ( Book of Names ), is the second book of the
Torah (Pentateuch) and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. Exodus recounts the events of the
Egyptian enslavement of the Israelites, their subsequent liberation by their god, Yahweh, and the
Deliverer, Moses, and their journey to the Promised Land. To facilitate the comprehension of Exodus
or to make hundreds of millions of dollars film studios have produced many film adaptations of
Exodus two in the case of Cecil B. DeMille. Two such films are The Ten Commandments and The
Prince of Egypt. The former, a live action motion picture released in 1956, is DeMille s second
iteration of Exodus, while the latter, released in 1998, is a DreamWorks made animated version of the
story. Overall, both films portray Exodus well, though they add staple Hollywood plot devices in an
effort to modernize the four thousand odd year old story and end up negatively affecting the original
story in the process.

Hereditary Multiple Exostoses
Hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) is a pediatric skeletal disorder which develops between birth
and 12 years of age. The disorder has an occurrence of 1 out of 50,000 children. HME is characterized
by the development of multiple benign bone tumors, referred to as exostoses, which develop
throughout the skeletal system. Tumors usually develop on the end of long bones and flat bones during
growth of the child and stop developing once the child has stopped growing (National Library of
Medicine [NLM], 2013). HME is characterized by the development of multiple tumors on bone called
osteochondromas which are composed of bony components with a cartilage cap. These tumors usually
are not malignant, or noncancerous, and occur in two different forms. The first form being a broad
based sessile osteochondroma and the second being a small based stalked osteochondroma (Ryckx et
al., 2013). These exoctoses are very painful and discomforting to the affected child and cause
functional impairment due to either compression of soft tissue or obstruction as a result of its size.
Because the tumors develop during growth, limb deformities can develop causing physical distortions
such as uneven limbs (Ham, 2013; NLM, 2013).
The number of osteochondromas and area where they occur vary between patients. Bones throughout
the whole body from the clavicle to the foot are affected. A study performed by Clement and Porter.
(2011) revealed 5361 exostoses in sites all over the body as seen in

Constructivist Classroom In The Classroom
Having a constructivist classroom can mean many different things. Being a teacher with a
constructivist perspective is a different type of teaching style than people are used to. Constructivism,
as I understand it, is a way of teaching that has the students learn through their own methods. They are
to try to find their own style of learning a concept, whether it be in their heads or with unifix blocks or
by drawing pictures. Everyone learns differently and children need to be given the freedom to explore
their learning by themselves. Also, students need to be able to construct their own meanings and
insights without teacher instruction. Having a constructivist classroom would mean the teacher not
giving as much direction as in a traditional classroom. Teachers with this perspective want their
students to be mathematizing their learning (FD Ch 1.4).
An example of this concept of mathematizing was when in Madeline s classroom. She wanted her
students to understand the concept of counting on instead of starting back at 1 and the idea that
numbers are nested inside of each other (FD Ch 1.5). Madeline was having her students count red and
green beads to make a necklace of 22. Some of them understood that if you had 19 beads, then you
only need 3 more to make 22 while others started back at 1 to count to 22 altogether.
This sense of numbers enveloped in other larger numbers is a huge concept for young children. They
can mimic adults and count objects without a sense of

Acorn Barnacles Lab Report
Food/Predation:
Acorn Barnacles are sessile (fixed to one place) as they are permanently fixed to the rocks. This means
that Acorn Barnacles cannot move from place to place to hunt for food, hence why they filer feed. A
structural adaptation that the barnacles have that allow them to feed are specially adapted cirri (legs)
that filter organic matter from the water. When the tide comes in, a muscle opens the plates at the top
of the Acorn Barnacle s shell. The barnacle then repeatedly waves its long feather like legs (cirri)
which have hairs that sifts the water, collecting plankton and other food particles that are suspended in
the water, before transferring them to the mouth for the barnacle to eat. Because of this Acorn

Oyster Borers are mobile as they move around from place to place to hunt for their food barnacles.
Oyster Borers feed during high tide, moving up the shore with the tide and retreating to shelter at low
tide (behavioural adaptation). A structural adaptation that Oyster Borers have is a strong muscular
foot. The Oyster Borer uses this muscular foot to wrench apart the opening plates of barnacles such as
Acorn Barnacles, before inserting its proboscis (mouthparts used for feeding and sucking) into the
flesh to consume it. Oyster Borers can also drill holes into the shells of other prey such as oysters with
their radula (file like teeth structure used for scraping or cutting food) to feed on living prey. A
physiological adaptation that Oyster Borers have is that they use highly evolved chemo detection to
locate their prey/food over long distances and by touch. An Oyster Borers siphon (structural
adaptation) serves as a chemoreceptor to locate food. The chemoreceptor is a sensory nerve that
converts a chemical signal into an action potential. In this case Oyster Borers have a sensory nerve
that detects chemicals (such as the odour of their prey) in the air or on a surface of which their food
source has been. This is then passed on as a chemical to the brain or other central processor. This then
results in the Oyster Borer to make actions (drill holes into the shells) to eat its prey. This
structural/physiological adaptation gives the Oyster Borer an efficient way of locating its prey to

  • 5. Masculinity And Masculinity, By Michael Kimmel Essay In western culture, men are often subject to extreme methods of proving their masculinity, and to reinforce what it truly means to be a man. Michael Kimmel, famous sociologist said, Masculinity is the relentless repudiation of the feminine (Kimmel, 2015), which not only reflects how men think about themselves but how North Americans as an entire culture think about masculinity and manhood. The following pages will be centered on issues of the lens of masculinity in contexts such as the sphere of education, the predominance and dependence of social relationships, and most importantly fatherhood, which will be of a larger focus as the male enters adulthood. As a child, women and men are predominantly on the same page. With the exception of their shared interests and activities. As a child grows up, the classroom setting starts to highlight the differences between both boys and girls. Most often, education is catered towards girls and the learning styles that girls flourish in (Vincent Ball, 2007). Girls outperform boys in almost every subject when they are elementary school age (Vincent Ball, 2007) because in the classroom, it is taught that the qualities with being a good student are most often synonymous with being a good girl, and here is where you can see a dichotomy begin to occur (Vincent Ball, 2007). Boys are conditioned from the beginning to understand that being a man, and being masculine is the polar opposite of what it means to be feminine. Early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Pont Saint-Michel By Matisse The first of the three, and my personal favorite, is Pont Saint Michel by Matisse. This piece is very simple, yet has a calming and elegant color scheme and medium. This oil on canvas cityscape uses rough brushstrokes and very few exact lines in order to show an inexact representation of the bridge and its surrounding buildings. The buildings have very little true form, and seem to blend into one another. Their colors are mostly primary, with reds, yellows, and blues standing out the most. These aspects all intertwine in order to show an imperfect representation of a view that Matisse saw nearly every day out of his window. Since Matisse painted this scene multiple times throughout the years that he lived in this building, the transformation in his art styles is apparent. Therefore, this painting shows his transition toward a Fauve composition, since he uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using raw and spontaneous style, de Vlaminck portrays a relaxed and simple man. His use of colors blends the background to the point where it is indistinguishable, yet outlines features of Bouju s face. The imprecise yet intentional brushstrokes show the clothing, face, pipe, and smoke only, allowing the background to be ignored. This work shows the artist s style well, exhibiting the vibrant colors and distinct brushstrokes of the Fauves. As it was painted in 1900, it shows the clothing style of the period and the casual acceptance of smoking as a necessity. This piece shows the seemingly calm and nonchalant nature of the subject, with his street clothes and pipe. I find this work intriguing, as it does not explicitly show the minute details and features of the man s face, but instead conveys a sense of tranquility in his demeanor. His stare is not one of judgment or bewilderment, but is instead an indifferent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Granny Pods Research Paper Granny Pods in Your Backyard as a Solution To Nursing Homes Research shows that, in developed countries, the number of older people are growing much faster than any other age group. By the year 2050 the number of people older than 60 will exceed the number of those younger than 15. Hawing this in mind, it is clear that nursing homes are going to be crowded and much more expensive in the future. So, instead of being thrown into one, propose to your children or grandchildren a different solution a Granny pod . What s a granny pod ? Benefits First and the most important benefit of having a granny pod instead of going into a nursing home is that you are close to your love ones, literally in their backyard. As you ve seen earlier in the article, granny pods are much cheaper than nursing homes, so there s benefit number two. Some would say that residents in the nursing homes will have a full and constant attention and that the hygiene is better there than in the backyard cottage. Well, hygiene has to be at the highest level whether you are at the nursing home or in granny pod. Having in mind the granny pods aren t huge structures with hundreds of rooms, keeping them clean isn t going to be much of a struggle. I don t think that you will need more than two hours a week to keep yours clean; and you can always hire professionals in domestic cleaning in Sydney area to make it spotless. • 10. The High School Student Program Choice is a luxury most in rural China cannot afford but, as a 16 year old girl who had just arrived to the United States, the myriad of choices that lay before me was extremely awesome. I equated the impressive array of choice in terms related to good fortune or even wealth, and this beginning would serve as the impetus to my achievements in this country thus far. But, what compelled me to leave my home and family, and travel alone to this country, was to become educated. Where I am from in China, education seems almost to be a type of magic that can only be wished for; it is elusive to most. I recognized that education lay at the core of opportunity, and if I focused and worked hard I could one day share the good fortune of choice as well as the magic that only education can inspire others, both here as well as in China. I arrived to the U.S. as a high school junior under the J 1 Visa, Secondary School Student Program and had the privilege to have stayed in Virginia with a family headed by parents who are both school teachers. Upon completion, I obtained an F 1 student visa and completed my senior year in 2011 at a rural boarding school in northeast Georgia. Upon arriving to Drexel University (Drexel) as a freshman I had already decided that my future professional life would, in some way, be in education. After transferring to New York University (NYU) as a junior, I would choose a degree in economics, which I felt to be fundamental in terms of my aspirations as a leader ... • 12. The Presentation Of Self In Everyday Life Erving Goffman... This week, we talked about the development of the self. The most interesting readings for me was The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life by Erving Goffman. In this piece, Goffman discusses the dramaturgical theory of social interaction, which is the view that we put on a social facade in our daily lives, as if we are all actors in a theatrical performance. There are two main points that really stood out to me. First was impression management, more specifically, the (mis)alignment of expressions given and expressions given off. This is so common in everyday life. One of our goals as life actors is confirming that others are making a good impression, but we often struggle to convey that because of a misalignment in our explicit verbal cues ... There are many different parts that make up Michele but the most important one was his fear and what it led him to do and how it made him selfless. Has it been life changing to know the day will be amazing or to feel as though working like a dog and getting nowhere? Every human must go to work to make money and provide for their family. If not, they will not live a happy, successful life. Their kids will be miserable as they may not have the luxury of clean clothes and food to feed their infinite hunger. Millions of people have jobs, but may not feel valued or excited to go to them. They may feel overworked and undervalued with no purpose, or may not have a strong support system in their workplace. Human nature can both positively and negatively affect the workplace environment. Supervisors are very important towards the workplace environment. Without them, workers may slack off and not get the job done as efficiently as needed. To be a well liked supervisor, they need to care and understand their employees. If a supervisor acts like a robot and just gives orders, the employees will not respect them as much as if they cared and asked them how their day is going and what they can do to help. This will give workers a feeling of comfort while at the job. The supervisors also need to recognize the hard work that is completed by the employees. • 34. Hereditary Multiple Exostoses Hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) is a pediatric skeletal disorder which develops between birth and 12 years of age. The disorder has an occurrence of 1 out of 50,000 children. HME is characterized by the development of multiple benign bone tumors, referred to as exostoses, which develop throughout the skeletal system. Tumors usually develop on the end of long bones and flat bones during growth of the child and stop developing once the child has stopped growing (National Library of Medicine [NLM], 2013). HME is characterized by the development of multiple tumors on bone called osteochondromas which are composed of bony components with a cartilage cap. These tumors usually are not malignant, or noncancerous, and occur in two different forms. The first form being a broad based sessile osteochondroma and the second being a small based stalked osteochondroma (Ryckx et al., 2013). These exoctoses are very painful and discomforting to the affected child and cause functional impairment due to either compression of soft tissue or obstruction as a result of its size. Because the tumors develop during growth, limb deformities can develop causing physical distortions such as uneven limbs (Ham, 2013; NLM, 2013). The number of osteochondromas and area where they occur vary between patients. Bones throughout the whole body from the clavicle to the foot are affected. A study performed by Clement and Porter. (2011) revealed 5361 exostoses in sites all over the body as seen in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anne was particularly attached to her father, Otto, because she felt he was always there for him. ¨I model myself after Father, and there s no one in the world I love more. He doesn t realize that he treats Margot differently than he does me: Margot just happens to be the smartest, the kindest, the prettiest and the best. But I have a right to be taken seriously too, (10 30 1943). She explained that her father had great sympathy towards her, but she wanted to be perceived as an adult too. There were also residents she despised, like Mrs. van Daan. Anne and Mrs. van Daan thought very different from each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Current Research On Bipolar Disorder II Current Research on Bipolar Disorder II Shannon J. Oliveira American School of Professional Psychology Psychopathology Fall 2014 Current Research on Bipolar Disorder II The following is a review of recent peer reviewed research articles in the field of psychology contributing to new information on the diagnosis, treatment, and outcome measures for Bipolar Disorder II (BDII). First, you will find a description of the diagnostic presentation of BDII, followed by the corresponding results of the research, and ending with an explanation of how the following research will influence our work as mental health practitioners. Bipolar II Description The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fifth Edition (DSM 5) describes BDII as an instability of mood categorized by the lifetime prevalence of at least one major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Generally speaking, a major depressive episode consists of a depressed or consistent low mood for a period of at least two weeks. A hypomanic episode on the other hand, consists of a period of elevated, expansive, or irritable mood lasting at least 4 consecutive days. Both episodes generally cause serious implications on the individual s daily living in regards to social, academic, and work environments. For a diagnosis to be made by the DSM 5, a list of particular criteria must be met, and specific information such as what the individuals current or most recent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Constructivist Classroom In The Classroom Having a constructivist classroom can mean many different things. Being a teacher with a constructivist perspective is a different type of teaching style than people are used to. Constructivism, as I understand it, is a way of teaching that has the students learn through their own methods. They are to try to find their own style of learning a concept, whether it be in their heads or with unifix blocks or by drawing pictures. Everyone learns differently and children need to be given the freedom to explore their learning by themselves. Also, students need to be able to construct their own meanings and insights without teacher instruction. Having a constructivist classroom would mean the teacher not giving as much direction as in a traditional classroom. Teachers with this perspective want their students to be mathematizing their learning (FD Ch 1.4). An example of this concept of mathematizing was when in Madeline s classroom. She wanted her students to understand the concept of counting on instead of starting back at 1 and the idea that numbers are nested inside of each other (FD Ch 1.5). Madeline was having her students count red and green beads to make a necklace of 22. Some of them understood that if you had 19 beads, then you only need 3 more to make 22 while others started back at 1 to count to 22 altogether. This sense of numbers enveloped in other larger numbers is a huge concept for young children. They can mimic adults and count objects without a sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Acorn Barnacles Lab Report Food/Predation: Acorn Barnacles are sessile (fixed to one place) as they are permanently fixed to the rocks. This means that Acorn Barnacles cannot move from place to place to hunt for food, hence why they filer feed. A structural adaptation that the barnacles have that allow them to feed are specially adapted cirri (legs) that filter organic matter from the water. When the tide comes in, a muscle opens the plates at the top of the Acorn Barnacle s shell. The barnacle then repeatedly waves its long feather like legs (cirri) which have hairs that sifts the water, collecting plankton and other food particles that are suspended in the water, before transferring them to the mouth for the barnacle to eat. Because of this Acorn Barnacles need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oyster Borers are mobile as they move around from place to place to hunt for their food barnacles. Oyster Borers feed during high tide, moving up the shore with the tide and retreating to shelter at low tide (behavioural adaptation). A structural adaptation that Oyster Borers have is a strong muscular foot. The Oyster Borer uses this muscular foot to wrench apart the opening plates of barnacles such as Acorn Barnacles, before inserting its proboscis (mouthparts used for feeding and sucking) into the flesh to consume it. Oyster Borers can also drill holes into the shells of other prey such as oysters with their radula (file like teeth structure used for scraping or cutting food) to feed on living prey. A physiological adaptation that Oyster Borers have is that they use highly evolved chemo detection to locate their prey/food over long distances and by touch. An Oyster Borers siphon (structural adaptation) serves as a chemoreceptor to locate food. The chemoreceptor is a sensory nerve that converts a chemical signal into an action potential. In this case Oyster Borers have a sensory nerve that detects chemicals (such as the odour of their prey) in the air or on a surface of which their food source has been. This is then passed on as a chemical to the brain or other central processor. This then results in the Oyster Borer to make actions (drill holes into the shells) to eat its prey. This structural/physiological adaptation gives the Oyster Borer an efficient way of locating its prey to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
