Retail Store Manager
Retail Manager as TrainerBy Malcolm Fleschner, Monster Contributing Writer
Since founding The Friedman Group, a global retail consulting and training organization, in 1980,
Harry Friedman has heard plenty of excuses from retail store executives who refuse to provide
much training to their front line store employees. One of the most common is: What if I train them,
and they leave? Friedman says this is the exact opposite approach they should take. He suggests a
better question is, What if I don t train them, and they stay?
Cost of Not Training
The unfortunate reality, which anyone who ventures into a mall these days can confirm, is that
today s retail store employees often lack basic sales and customer service skills. This is ... Show

But when you re asked behavioral questions, the interviewer is listening for specific examples of
how you have handled situations or problems in the past.
When presented with interview questions beginning with phrases like tell me about a time when
or give me an example of the interviewer wants to hear your real life examples. When
interviewers ask such behavioral interview questions, they are listening for examples of how you
handled situations similar to the ones you may handle for this company. This is your chance to
talk about your accomplishments. If you can demonstrate through examples (preferably recent
ones) that you ve succeeded in certain areas of interest, you ll likely be considered a strong
candidate for the position. After all, if you did it somewhere else yesterday, you can do it for this
company tomorrow.
Your success stories should include the situation, the action you took and the result. Here is an
example if you were interviewing for a sales position: The Situation: I had a customer who did not
want to hear about the features of my merchandise because of a prior interaction with my company.
The Action: I listened to her story and made sure I heard her complaint. I

Theseus And The Labyrinth In Greek Theatre
The myth of Theseus and the Labyrinth can be transformed into an Athenian tragedy because there
is not an abundance of characters, there is a unity of action, and a unity of time. To adapt this myth
of Theseus into an Athenian tragedy, a few changes would have to be made. One drastic change
that I would implement is something completely new to the Athenian theatre; I would use the
audience as part of the play. Constructing and displaying a labyrinthon the stage would be
incredibly difficult to pull off therefore I would have the audience seated in a labyrinth type
structure in addition to having a small section that leads to the back of the stage as this is where the
minotaurwould be. In addition to using the audience as a labyrinth, the composition of the chorus
would contribute to the importance of Theseustask of killing the minotaur.... Show more content on

The chorus would be composed of the seven men and women sent into the labyrinth every year to
feed the minotaur. Choosing the sacrificed people to serve as the chorus further intensifies the
importance for Theseus to kill the minotaur because if he fails, the cycle will continue and
countless people will have to be sacrificed to feed the beast. In Agamemnon by Aeschylus, the
chorus consists of old men whom are citizens of Argos (Aeschylus Agamemnon 1. 40 43). The
chorus in Agamemnon serves as a wise voice to the audience whereas the chorus of this play
would be slightly sinister and foreboding, however, it would still serve the purpose of explaining to
the audience the importance of the task at

Tankless Water Research Paper
Should You Get a Tankless Water Heater?
Many households are becoming more energy efficient in some way or another. Homeowners are
purchasing fuel efficient vehicles or installing solar panels on their homes to reduce their carbon
footprint. You may also be considering taking a baby step, like installing a tankless water heater at
your home. If your goal is to compare the benefits of a tankless heater to traditional water heater,
keep reading to see the pros and cons.
Pros:
Tankless Water Heaters Are EnergyEfficient
As stated earlier, you save energy when you install a tankless water heater. You get the benefit of
heating less water, which requires less energy, so you may see an energy savings of up to 30%
each month.

Path Analysis Paper
Main analyses involved running each of three models through AMOS SEM software separately,
using path analysis techniques to assess direct and indirect effects, among the present observed
variables (Arbuckle, 2013). Path analysis, which is based on multiple regressions, examines the
relationship between exogenous (i.e., variablenot causes by another variable, but effects one or
more variablesin model) and endogenous variables (i.e., a variable that is caused or effected by
one or more variables in a model; Iacobucci, 2010). Path models examine the total effects, as well
as the direct and indirect of effects of variables in a single model, simultaneously (Peterson et al.,
2014). Structural equation modeling path analysis techniques are superior to standard regression
analyses in that they: 1) provide more accurate estimates of the effects of hypothesized variables; 2)
estimate all effects simultaneously; 3) allow for greater accuracy of parameter estimates when
examining competing models; and 4) allow the researcher to compare effects of multiple mediators
(Zhao, Lynch, Chen, 2010).
Mediation Testing. Data were fit to the path model using AMOS SEM software. For Model 1(see
Figure 3) and Model 2 (see Figure 4), ethnic identity was examined as a mediating variable
between community participation neighborhood sense of community and psychological
empowerment (Model 1) and 30 day substance use (Model 2). For Model 3 (see Figure 5),

High School Dropouts Essay
High School Dropouts
Entering high school is the beginning of a whole new learning experience. Transitioning from
middle school, high school presents more classes, students, and a bigger campus. It brings new
expectations and responsibilities to each of us. High school also offers fresh chances to make
new friends, try new sports and activities, and really explore who we are as individuals. The goal
is to maintain good grades, score high on the SAT test, and keep a positive attitude so colleges
and universities will accept you. Of course it s not as easy at sounds, but it s achievable. It
requires a lot of work and dedication to every subject. Some students breeze their way through

Studies have also found that dropping out is more likely to occur among students from single
parent families and students with an older sibling who has already dropped out than among
counterparts without these characteristics. Other aspects of a student s home life such as level of
parental involvement and support, parent s educational expectations, parent s attitudes about
school, and stability of the family environment can also influence a youth s decision to stay in
school. For example, results from the NCES study found that students whose parents were not
actively involved in the student s school, whose parents infrequently talked to them about school
related matters, or whose parents held low expectations for their child s future educational
achievement were more likely to drop out.
Another reason why a lot of students drop out of school is simply because they don t like it. High
school, through its control over many decisions that are made for students, still seems to be
restrictive. Many aspects of a student s life are pre set and cannot be changed by the student to
fit his needs. For example, a student s time schedule is set every year. Every student must go the
same amount of hours every year. In most cases, school is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day,
whether he or she actually needs all the time or not. Students have to spend more time in some
filler classes that they think they probably did not need to take but still had

Search For Truth
The historian and the search for truth
A historian is a person who studies and writes about the past and is regarded as an authority on it.
Historians are concerned with the continuous, methodical narrative and research of past events as
relating to the human race; as well as the study of all history in time. History, in its broadest sense,
is the totality of all past events, although a more realistic definition would limit it to the known
past. Of all the fields of serious study and literary effort, history may be the hardest to define
precisely, because the attempt to uncover past events and formulate an intelligible account of them
necessarily involves the use and influence of many auxiliary disciplines and literary forms. The

The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability, that is whether it can be shown to correspond
to experience. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scientific facts are verified
by repeatable experiments. E. H. Carr in his 1961 volume, what is History? argues that the inherent
biases from the gathering of facts makes the objective truth of any historical perspective idealistic
and impossible. Facts are, like fish in the Ocean, of which we may only happen to catch a few,
only an indication of what is below the surface. Even a dragnet cannot tell us for certain what it
would be like to live below the Ocean s surface. Even if we do not discard any facts (or fish)
presented, we will always miss the majority; the site of our fishing, the methods undertaken, the
weather and even luck play a vital role in what we will catch. Additionally, the composition of
history is inevitably made up by the compilation of many different bias of fact finding all
compounded over time. He concludes that for a historian to attempt a more objective method, one
must accept that history can only aspire to a conversation of the present with the past and that one s
methods of fact gathering should be openly examined. As with science, historical truth and facts
will therefore change over time and reflect only the present consensus (if that).
A historical fact is a fact

Analysis Of The Fable The Fox And The Grapes
The Admirations and Challenges of hopes, goals, and pride There are two kinds of pride, both
good and bad. Good pride represents our dignity and self respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin of
superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance (Maxwell). In the Fable, The fox and the grapes
Aesop writes about a fox who ventures out into a vineyard full of grapes, unable to obtain the
grapes the fox walks away, however not without saying his last and final words. Aesop employs
determination of the fox, the significant location of the grapes, and belligerent attitude of the fox
to portray the theme of pride. Naturally, when individuals or animals are keen, they will discover
a path to get nutrition. In the Fable, the fox comes along a vineyard where there are delicious
clusters of ripe grapes, his lip starts to relish for the grapes (Aesop 275). Indeed, the ideas that
cause individuals to savory does not constantly have to be food. It could be wanting a job
placement that offers more tax income than the current job individuals are operating with. Eager
to purchase a new home with more room for a larger family. For scholars who may desire to get

having goals and determination in life. It is entirely on how one goes forth with those goals, and the
considerable amount of time and energy it takes to get there. Consequently, in order to obtain those
goals, one may induce forth the

Persuasive Essay On Medical Progress
We live in an age where a medical breakthroughs happens every few days, and new discoveries
are put into practice. We continue to progress with medicine, because we discover new
techniques and medications to help medical progress grow. Through clinical trials and laboratory
testing, they show how it will react and if it is a safe way to use them. Medical progress is where
health care professionals record details and achievements during the patient s care and how far
medicineand medical technology (like CT and MRI machines) have progressed from years ago.
Medicine, over the past few years, has advanced and improved the quality of life of many people
s lives, but because of that, there is now a limit on how far medicine will progress in the future.

The Natural Environment And The Human Race
Humans have been intervening in nature for the past 200 milleniums. The natural environment and
the human race have evolved together side by side. However, throughout the past few centuries,
many ethical questions have been brought up regarding how the human race interacts with nature.
As our factories and civilizations increase and expand, so does our footprint. One fairly recent
ethical concern is the act of hunting. Hunting has been a staple in the evolution of the humanrace.
The harvesting of animals has provided humans with many valuable resources necessary to survive.
Alice Walker, Aldo Leopold, and many other professionals have studied, researched, and written
about their views and findings on this matter. Once all of the information has been examined and
digested, one can come to a conclusion that is held by hunters and conservationists alike. Hunting is
in fact a human intrusion on nature that poses many ethical concerns and among these are hunting
for necessity, population control, and sport/prosperity; however, if hunting is done in a principled
and legal manner, the act is inherently just.
Alice Walker speaks of how the Native Americans treated animals like humans and only killed when
it was necessary for their survival. The European immigrants and their descendants have inherited
an extremely bad reputation as being unethical hunters. One Native American group is quoted by
Alice Walker saying, The whites did not kill them to eat; they killed them for the metal

Ten people were killed due to police pursuits in 1998. Of the ten fatalities, eight of the people were
drivers fleeing from police officers (1998 Analysis, 1). And the other two deaths were people
who were not involved in the pursuit. The good thing for police officers is that none died during a
pursuit in 1998. Some people say that there should have been no fatalities, including the people
fleeing from the police officers. The majority of pursuits in the last four years that have had
fatalities occur are provoked by the fleeing driver and also injure passengers in that car and
innocent bystanders.
There are a lot of the same problems that occur repeatedly when dealing with police pursuits.
Most of the time (around ninety percent of the time) police pursuits are generally triggered by a
traffic violation. These violations could be running a red light, driving without stopping at a stop
sign, or a speeding violation. Most likely, the driver in the pursuit is a young male, generally,
under the age of twenty four. They usually have very poor driving records. In more than half of
the cases of attempted fleeing drivers, alcohol and driving under the influence plays a major role.
Also, in most fifteen percent of all pursuit cases, the drivers did not have a valid driver s licensee.
Another interesting reported fact is that approximately half the offenders had at least one prior
licensee suspension on their records (Nugent 6). Only three

Essay On Death Of A Salesman A Slice Of America
Death of a Salesman: A Slice of Americana The concept of what constitutes American is a varied
as the people who make up America. Thinking about the global perspective of the concept, the
concept stratifies even more so. The opinion of those who love this country may say that
American is apple pie, fast cars, Friday night football, working hard, owning your own home, and
living the American Dream. The opinion of those who are not necessarily fans of America may
point out that we are materialistic, militaristic, brash, entitled, and greedy. Considering that Death
of a Salesman was written in 1949 in a less globally minded, post world War II economic boom
and sense of American pride, it would seem that the American feel given the play would pertain
only to its time in history. Given the complete context of all the personalities and situations
portrayed, however, one can see that Death of a Salesman is timeless in its interpretation of the

In Donaldson s piece, America s Love Affair With Cars, which was ironically published by a
Canadian journal, she points out that Americans are raised to love cars from the very
beginnings of life. There are toy cars that not only are shiny and fun but have working parts,
windshield wipers and horns, and remote controls. Going into young adulthood, it is always the
kids in school with the newest, fastest, and nicest cars that get the best chance at a date with a
popular girl or boy. She notes that Clearly, the automobile has been much more than simply a
means of transportation for most Americans. Once man and woman felt the breeze blowing on
their faces as they sped along a road, a passion was created. The car is just about everything today
including a form of art and craftsmanship, a collector s item, a cultural icon. (Donaldson, 2012)

Compare And Contrast Ancient Greece And Rome
The ancient Greeks and Romans were among the most influential civilizations in the history of the
world. Even though the Roman Empire eventually conquered Greece, Greek culture lived on within
the Empire. The Roman form of government was the foundation of the design of the United States
Senate. Ironically, the office of the President of the United States is the same as a tyrant in ancient
times, that is a person who appealed of the common people to gain power. The Greeks and Romans
had many differences, but there are also interesting similarities.
The way the Greek Empire fell in XXX XXX B.C. was very similar to how the Roman Empire fell
in XXX XXX A.D. Both Empires were suffering from weak economies. The Greeks had just
ended a civil war while the Romans on the other hand suffered from hyperinflation . Both Empires
were invaded by forces that mostly likely would not have attacked had the Empires not already
been weak militarily and economically. After the western part of the Roman Empire was conquered
by Germanic Tribes in XX A.D. the eastern part became the Byzantine Empire, which blended many
cultures and lasted for hundreds of years, ensuring that elements of Roman culture would survive.
Similarly, after Philip of Macedonia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Before engaging in melee with an enemy army, the Romans would all throw their Pila at the enemy

Suicide Prevention And Intervention For Ptsd
Effective Suicide Prevention and Intervention for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Over the course of a lifetime, people experience both triumphs and trials. Accepting a new job,
starting a family, or buying a new home are all exciting triumphs, while the loss of a loved one to
illness or the endurance of domestic violence are overwhelming trials. In response to trauma and
various difficult life situations, people often contemplate suicide. Existing literature on suicide,
prevention, and intervention suggests an incredibly alarming number of people struggle with
suicide ideation and behaviors. In the last decade, research evidence has been used to propose and
implement prevention and intervention strategies in an effort to decrease the national suicide rate.
For those who have experienced trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is often an outcome.
Because the national suicide rate remains high, and with an increase in traumatic events in the
United States, there is likely a need for new and improved, empirically based prevention and
intervention plans for supporting people with PTSD who are at risk of suicide. Thus, the following
review outlines research exploring the relationship between PTSD and suicide, and more
specifically, the prevention and intervention methods used in supporting people who have PTSD
and are at higher risk of suicide.

The Differential Association Theory states that all behavior, pro social and anti social is learned,
and that we choose the behaviors that are the most rewarding to us (Class Notes). The Night of
Kody s initiation he had taken part in shooting down a group of 15 Bloods. After it all was over and
he was laying awake in bed, he felt guilty and ashamed of [himself] (Scott, 1993: 13). He knew
what he had done was wrong, but when the chance came again for him to choose between right,
and what the set wanted him to do, he chose to follow his fellow Crips. Kody chose the praise
and approval of his friends over the law, and what he knew in his heart was right (Scott, 1993).
The Social Learning Theory is similar to the Differential Association Theory in the respect that
they both depend on the approval of others. It says that ...crime is something learned by normal
people as they adapt to other people and the conditions of their environment (Bohm, 2001: 82).
People learn by reinforcement weather it is positive or negative. Growing up Kody began to feel

The Global Security And Human Security
The UN has [A]cknowledge[d] that we are living in an interdependent and global world and that
many of today s threats recognize no national boundaries, are interlinked and must be tackled at the
global, regional, and national levels in accordance with the Charter and international law (2005
World Summit Outcome). After the world had entered into the Post Cold War era, traditional
conceptions of security had become the global security and human security. The International
Government Organizations (IGOs) and United Nationsrealized that wars and chaos began to be
internationalized. And the human security, such as human rights, poverty, and the environment,
has received attention gradually by the public. There are many issues that have affected the global
security in recent decades. The Iraq war began in 2003, and it estimated that more than one
hundred thousand civilians died during the war. On 11 March 2010, The Fukushima Daiichi
nuclear disaster happened in Japan, and fifteen thousand people died in this disaster. The Arab
Spring began in 2010 in Tunisia, and then spread to 18 Arab countries in Mid East and Africa. The
United Nation, established in 1945 after the World War II, has the responsibility to maintain the
peace and security. While the UN is helpful in some situations, there are times when the UN should
not intervene. It is a general idea that the performance of UN in the conflict is not as good as the
performance in the human security.

Political Machines And Reformers In The 19th Century
Political machines and the reformers who rallied against them had incredible influence in urban
politics in the 19th and early 20th century. Each, however, has been labeled as corrupt
monopolies and are seen as selfish towards their own goals. While there are tactics that worked to
help cities grow stronger, the value of equal voting for all citizens was compromised in each regime
s quest for power.
Political bosses, heads of the political machine, focused on the vast influx of immigrants coming to
the United States in the 19th century and targeted not only them but also poor, working class
citizens. Political bosses ensured support was by offering goods and services, including business
contracts and licences within the city s growing areas, otherwise known as bribery. Because the
growing areas of cities mostly consisted of immigrants and the poor, the trade of a vote in
exchange to a good or a service was appealing to constituents and even more so to political bosses.
Machines offered jobs for immigrants, generating the possibility of a citizen s personal upward
mobility. However, these services were not always equal, and machines were willing to act with

Case History:
The Supreme Court of Montana reversed his sentence. It reasoned: (1) that respondent

the State s evidence on all elements of the offense charged. . ., and (2) that evidence of
respondent s voluntary intoxication was clear[ly]. . . relevant to the issue of whether [respondent]

Data Report On Data Management And Analysis
This section presents data process involved in data management and analysis, it discusses data
entry, data cleaning and data analysis. The section starts with data entry where the data cleaning
and analysis were presented thereafter. 3.14.1 Data entry Data entry refers to the process of
recording data, regularly into a computer programmes (Rahm Hai Do, 2010). During the evaluation,
data were entered into computerised software packages to assist in analysis process. Quantitative
data from questionnaires and documentary review were entered to stata software programme
whereby qualitative data obtained from interviews were entered to Atlas.ti software. A verbatim
(transcription) was performed to transform word by word audio recorded interview data to written
a document (Creswell, 2007), which by then were translated from Swahili to English language
before being entered into Atlas.ti where the local translator was consulted to review the interview
transcript. 3.14.2 Data cleaning Data cleaning refers to systematic procedure to identify and correct
data errors and inconsistencies and omit them to enhance quality of collected data for analysis
(Rahm Hai Do, 2010). In this evaluation all qualitative and quantitative data undergo cleaning
process to ensure its consistency and accuracy. In this evaluation data cleaning for qualitative data
involved a series of activities that included the followings as suggested by Miles and Huberman

Parkinson s Disease
Scientists generally agree that most cases of Parkinson s disease result from some combination
of nature and nurture the interaction between a people s underlying genetic make up and his or
her life activities and environmental exposures. A simple way to describe this is that genetics
loads the gun and environment pulls the trigger. In this formulation, environment has a very
broad meaning that is, it refers to any and all possible causes other than those that are genetic in
origin. The interactions between genes and environment can be quite complex. Some
environmental exposures may lower the risk of PD, while others may increase it. Similarly,
some people have inherited a genetic makeup that makes them more or less susceptible to the
effects of toxicants, or poisonous agents, than others. The effect of a combined exposure can be
greater or lower than a single exposure. All of this means that the particular combination of
factors leading to PD is likely to be unique for each person. These combinations, in different
ways, may trigger a common series of biological changes that will ultimately lead to the disease.
Scientists are beginning to tease apart the non genetic factors that influence PD risk. In particular,
epidemiologists are working to identify differences in the experiences of people who develop PD,
compared to those who do not. But identifying these risk factors can be difficult. Growing up I had
an uncle who had Parkinson disease. He got this from

The French Revolution And Napoleonic Wars
The history of Latin American has a bloody past filled with war and hardship. The struggle for
independence plays a key role in the history of Latin America and understanding the development
that came post independence. Latin America has struggled with debt and dependence on foreign
countries. Events that occur in Latin Americaare often a result of things happening in the Western
Hemisphere.
Much of Latin America s fight for independence was fueled by war. Latin America continued to be
greatly affected by events that occurred in the western hemisphere. The French Revolution and
Napoleonic Wars were major factors in igniting Latin America s movement for independence. The
French Revolution occurred during 1789 1799 in attempt to challenge the monarchial political
structure. The French Revolution was fought to pursue Enlightenment ideals to promote popular
sovereignty.
The ideologies of the French Revolution were used to justify the overtaking of other European
kings and the establishment of republics. The military was aggressive in establishing French
control in other countries. The French Revolution was eventually led by Emperor Napoleon
Bonaparte. The Napoleonic Wars occurred during 1799 1815 as a result of the French Revolution.
England was the leading country against the French expansion. Portugal had been a long time ally
with England. In 1807, Napoleon invaded Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. However a few days

Impact Of Ww2 On Australian Economy
Australians at War World War II (WWII) made a significant impact in shaping modern Australia.
This war contributed to social, political and technological developments throughout Australia
and the world. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENTS WWII had a big impact on the social changes in
Australia before and after the war. One of the reasons it had such an impact on Australia was
due to the immigration policy, which was made to increase Australia s population. The
immigration policy is a policy on legal migrants. Legal migrants who come to Australia under
the migration act are non Australians who come to the country for work or other reasons
without permission or people who overstay their visas. This enforces that those who come in the
country without permission may be subject to mandatory immigration detention and may be
deported from the country at any time, unless been given permission to stay in Australia. This
policy has contributed to the multicultural society of Australia today. To this day, there in an
estimated 50 000 people who have overstayed their visas, most of these people come from
British nations. Those touching base by boat or different means without official classification as
refugees are no longer granted permission outcast status on landing. For example, those from an
Asian background are becoming a more familiar part of Australia s society today. Overseas
migrant entries have assumed a vital part in changing the face of Australia. The current variety of
migrants born in Australia include areas such as The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Italy,
Vietnam, China, Greece, Germany, Philippines and India. Since the change in immigration
policy in the late 1960s to one of non discrimination on race or ethnic background, there has been
a significant change in the overseas sources of migrants, with settlers arriving from more diverse
regions of the world. To this day, Australia s overseas born population consists of people who
practise over 140 recognized ethnic groups, people who fluently speak over 90 different languages
and people who believe in over 80 different religions. This expanding ethnic and social diversity
has changed the way Australians view both themselves and other societies of the world. It has

Three Main Stages Of Kurt Lewin s Model In Management
Kurt Lewin had a good contribution in regard to setting certain model related to management
changes. This model has three main stages, starting from unfreezing, moving to changing with
refreezing and finally refreezing. This model represents a very easy and practical model to
comprehend the change processes, Lewin did clarify that an organization would go through change
due an importance which reflects on the organization s levelof proficiency and efficiency of work;
all of which goes through three stages and ends at the point of adapting the new behaviour after the
enhancement process. Lewin s model is still very popular and utilized in many modern models
(Morrison, 2014).

This process might be critical as at some point some might face a very slow refreezing process, as
transaction rarely stops in good shape and without any roughness(Morrison, 2014) . In most
advanced organizations this stage considered temporal , as they have another change right by the
corner , in this case this stage is not considered as a real refreezing stage, its just there to make
the next refreezing stage easier to adapt and accepted(Wirth , 2004) . However, many
organizations find that their staff go through a shock stage due to the change, and that does reflect
on their competency level, and their efficiency as well(Burnes, 2004) . Conclusion Lewin s model
helps managers to execute the change in their organizations , as this change covers the main three
stages of unfreezing, change with refreezing , and refreezing. Lewin s stages gives enough
direction to how deal with the change, people and help them to overcome the stages and have
stability in the refreezing stage. This does not change the fact, that having cooperative people, who
accept the change and embrace it , would make this process kick smoothly and executed in the right
way (Morrison, 2014)

Masculinity In The Great Gatsby
Although Myrtle Wilson and Daisy Buchanan lie on opposite ends of the social spectrum,
Fitzgerald nevertheless characterizes the attitude of female inferiority in society, a social class
distinction not only based on wealth, but on gender as well. Male superiority is exemplified
through Tom, a representation of pure masculinity, in the way that he exerts control over the
lives of both Daisy and Myrtle. As his wife and mistress [slip] precipitately from his control

Social Media s Role In Presidential Campaigns
Social media websites have been gaining popularity and record amounts of users since the early
2000s, but in recent years social media has started to have an important role in presidential
campaigns. Barack Obama, president of the United States from 2009 to 2017, is regarded as the
first social media president and since his time in office, the use of social media has only
continued to expand. The use of websites such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube have become
key components in the election of the president and their time in office. This importance can

Rip Van Winkle, By Washington Irving
Rip Van Winkle
The short story, Rip Van Winkle has journeyed through many years of popularity in American
literature. This narrative is eloquently written by Washington Irving, a prolific nineteenth century
American writer. The Author sets the story in a village near the Hudson River, along the banks of
the Catskill Mountains where Great Britain once held reigns. Irving presents the reader with a story
that effectively delivers an abundance of connotations representing the era of its origin. Through
the use of characterization, imagery and symbolism, the reader can infer that Washington Irvingis
conveying a complex theme of historical transformation in society.
Rip Van Winkleis characterized as an ordinary mortal man who is married to Dame Van Winkle.
She is infuriated by, his idleness, his carelessness, and the ruin he [is] bringing upon his family
(Irving 32). However Rip s actions towards his family and farm are directly opposite to those of
his neighbors; as stated by Irving, he [is] a great favorite among all the good wives of the village
(31). Although he is favored by all the villagers who defend him, his peace is not found there, at
home. Irving depicts Rip as a man who yearns for tranquility, simplicity and content. On the
contrary, Dame is portrayed as a woman who is antagonizing and infuriated. Thus, the two
characters can be integrated into the transformation America was going through in the late 1700 s.
One can say that Rip s character, on one hand,

Analyzing The Argument Of Marco Polo
When discussing the argument of whether Marco Polo actually visited the Mongol ruled China or
not, one must consider both sides of the argument. First, Marco Polo documented his travels by
identifying the different cities and the distances between them; however, he abandons this practice
when documenting his travels to the Mongol capital. Maybe Polo switched from his traditional
style, because he was in jail at the time. Plus, there is an absence of descriptions of the cities he
supposedly visited. Second, the popular writing method during his time involved asserting oneself
into widely known expeditions. For example, Polo heard of the Mongol capital; therefore, he
inserted himself into it by stating he went there. Shockingly, the Japanese,

The Theme Of Happiness In The Secret Garden By Frances...
Introduction For this assignment, I chose to do a listing of quotes which I feel represent the
theme of Happiness in The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Happiness is expressed
in a number of ways, many of which the characters do not know about. I chose to focus on this
theme because I felt it was the most prominent and important in the story, and that the characters
go through a great deal of development while experiencing it. Chapter One: There is No One

People who grow up as Mary did often will not see the joys in the little things, but rather a
disturbance and a waste of time. Here he is, chuckled the old man, and then he spoke to the bird
as if he here speaking to a child. Throughout the book, the Robin makes appearances that spark
Mary s childlike wonder and imagination. She sees the bird and thinks that this creature may be
the first she has ever liked, and therefore wants to know more about it. Mary feels something
when she sees him, the same thing she feels when she is out on the moor playing. Happiness is
beginning to become less of a dream and more of a reality, and this bird is only the beginning.
This was plain speaking, and Mary Lennox had never heard the truth about herself in her life.
Native servants aways salaamed and submitted to you, whatever you did. She had never thought
much about her looks, but she wondered if she was as unattractive as Ben Weatherstaff and she
also wondered if she looked as sour as he had looked before the robin came. She actually began
to wonder also if she was nasty tempered . She felt uncomfortable. As stated, directly, Mary
Lennox had never heard the truth about herself in her life . The young girl had never once been

that kind of treatment can begin to make a person believe they are the center of everything. No one

What Is Active Assisted Range Of Motion
Active Assisted Range of Motion is utilized under certain conditions. It is most often used when a
client has a weakness due to pathology or injury. The therapist would help assist the client as the
client actively moves the joint through a pain free range of motion, indicating pain when it arises.
The use of light pressure touch over the joint capsule can add palpation of tissue for analysis
during active assisted ROM.
Active ROM testing is conducted first or Active Assisted ROM testing, when called for, followed
by passive ROM testing. Passive testing allows the therapist to ascertain any adhesions or excessive
mobility within the joint s range. During this passive motion the individual being tested should

A hard or bone to bone end feel, occurring when the therapist would not expect to feel such hard
resistance, can indicate changes in the osseous tissue, joint capsule or misalignment after a fracture.
On the other end of the spectrum, an unrestricted end feel yielding a high level of pain, may indicate
bursitis and inflammation of the joint capsule.
A very common experience among manual therapists, is a bouncy end feel, which may include the
sensation of a contractile spasm. This is a sudden and the hard cessation of movement, including
pain, followed closely by a bouncy sensation that may include spasms in specific muscles involved
with the range of motion. This type of end feel may indicate a responsive muscle guarding intended
to prevent further injury.
A restricted, yet springy end feel near the end of range of motion of a joint, with or without pain,
can indicate changes to inert tissues. Such as, cartilage or the meniscus of the tibiofemoral joint.
Where the individual would not be able to fully extend the joint.
A soft, yet soggy end feel can indicate edema within the joint or joint capsule. This soggy feel may
indicate an acute ligament injury, usually accompanied by moderate to severe pain. A sprain, for
example, of an ankle may also include a strain to one or more muscle tendons.
In conclusion, there are a few ROM testing patterns that occur

Regionalism allows for some voters to have more power with their votes, particularly Ontario and
Quebec over other provinces thus furthering regional tension and divide.
Voters in areas with a lesser impact on the Election outcome may feel a sense of voter apathy and
will be less likely to engage with political discourse.
Potentially wasted ballots on small fringe parties with no chance of winning or in electoral districts
with a strong partisan leaning.
Parties that have a diffuse national support may be underrepresented in House of Commons, The
New Democratic Party and in some historical instances the Conservative Party have been negatively
impacted by this.
The inverse of the prior problem occurs as well, parties with a concentrated regional support
become over represented in the House of Commons; The Bloc Quebecois have traditionally been an
example of this.
Strategic voting may occur to ensure a party is removed from power, voters will vote for an
opposing party with a good chance of winning versus a party with lesser support but whose
platform they agree with.
On Election Day a winner can be determined before polls across Canada close, once the Maritimes,
Quebec and Ontario are counted, a winner can be determined before the polls close out West.

1946 Notorious takes place in the morally ambiguous world of post World War II where the
questioning of alliances and moralities have reached a breaking point. Alicia, the daughter of an
incarcerated Nazi supporter, finds herself in the midst of a purgatory world stuck in between love
and hate, in other words one of ambivalence. This state of conflicting feelings of hatred and love
for the same individual lead to a world of uncertainty or irrationality where the lines of morality
only continue to be blurred. In other words, intoxication amidst this state is a driving force of the
storyline aimed to showcase the extremes of this desire of self destruction... Show more content on

The more we love the more we hate is the defining feature of ambivalence showing the
correlation between the two emotions that are in fact, contrary to popular belief, deeply
intertwined with one another. Therefore, to love someone must also imply a desire to despise
the one being loved. Ambivalence is the way we recognize that someone or something has
become significant to us .... wherever there is an object of desire there must be ambivalence .
These strong emotions are seen as a destroying force leading back to the desire of the death drive
that is seen As the essence of the instinctual that cannot be outrun. This meaning that it (the death
drive) binds every wish, whether aggressive or sexual, to the wish for death . Sebastian, a Nazi,
is so in love with Alicia, a potential American threat and the object of his desire, that he knowing
keeps pursuing her regardless of the implications that being with such a notorious woman could
only destroy him. When his love for her takes a dark turn after being initially enthralled by Alicia,
Sebastian by stating that You always affected me like a tonic bringing about the idea of intoxication
that love and hate blur the lines between them. When he learns of her true nature of being a spy his

How Did The Romans Use Iron In Assyrians
The discovery of iron opened up an immense amount of possibilities to numerous empires in the
world. The Assyrians were one of the first groups who took advantage of iron using it to
invigorate and spread their empire. By the start of 3000 B.C., The Assyrian army was greatly
feared for the combination of ironweaponry and their barbaric lifestyle. The use of iron weapons
led the Assyrian military to dominance, because the Assyrians were the first to use iron weaponry,
iron was stronger than the materials used by their enemies, and the wide range of weaponry that
iron enabled. The Assyrian military had a massive advantage over other civilizations, because they
were the first empire to use iron for their weapons. Therefore, The Assyrians had better weaponry
than all other civilizations. The Assyrians also had more weapons than their enemies, due to the
fact that iron was very abundant in the world. The Assyrian military was also at an advantage
because it was more effective and stronger than bronze, which was the main material other
civilizations used for their weapons. Clearly, The Assyrian military had an upper hand against their
opponents, which led them to domination.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iron was a lot stronger, lighter more durable compared to the bronze weapons that other
civilizations had at the time. According to experts, Their weapons were among the deadliest in
the world, (May). Iron was also superior to bronze in that it was more abundant, so not only were
the Assyrians equipped with stronger, more durable weapons but also equipped with more
weapons than other civilizations. Iron weapons proved to have a distinct advantage over bronze
which led the Assyrians to have a deadly

Reaction Paper On The Perfect Storm
Sebastian Junger began to write The Perfect Storm without even knowing it (Junger XIV). His
personal experience with the storm was ...standing on Gloucester s Back Shore watching thirty foot
swells advance on Cape Ann... (Junger XIV). The next day, Junger read an article in the newspaper
about a Gloucester boat (The Andrea Gail) that was believed to be lost at sea. He saved a clipping
of that article and from then on, Junger began unknowingly writing the book. Junger witnessed this
destructive storm in action. He also watched the 30 foot swells crash on the Gloucester shore. These
personal connections persuaded Junger to write The Perfect Storm. Also, throughout the book,
Junger states that fishermen do not get the respect they deserve for their dangerous jobs. Upon
further research, it was found that Sebastian Junger used to work in a labor intensive job as well.
He was a climber for a tree company. After he was hurt on the job, Junger realized that dangerous
work was not written about a lot. As the terrible storm hit Gloucester and a fishing boat was lost at
sea, Sebastion decided he would shine light on another dangerous business, the open seas fishing
industry.
The subject of The Perfect Storm is the Andrea Gail and the storm that it was trapped and
eventually perished in. The subject is stated at the beginning of the book in the Forward. Here,
Junger describes his writing process, his inspiration, and the subject of his book. Throughout the
book, Junger

  • 2. Retail Store Manager Retail Manager as TrainerBy Malcolm Fleschner, Monster Contributing Writer Since founding The Friedman Group, a global retail consulting and training organization, in 1980, Harry Friedman has heard plenty of excuses from retail store executives who refuse to provide much training to their front line store employees. One of the most common is: What if I train them, and they leave? Friedman says this is the exact opposite approach they should take. He suggests a better question is, What if I don t train them, and they stay? Cost of Not Training The unfortunate reality, which anyone who ventures into a mall these days can confirm, is that today s retail store employees often lack basic sales and customer service skills. But when you re asked behavioral questions, the interviewer is listening for specific examples of how you have handled situations or problems in the past. When presented with interview questions beginning with phrases like tell me about a time when or give me an example of the interviewer wants to hear your real life examples. When interviewers ask such behavioral interview questions, they are listening for examples of how you handled situations similar to the ones you may handle for this company. This is your chance to talk about your accomplishments. If you can demonstrate through examples (preferably recent ones) that you ve succeeded in certain areas of interest, you ll likely be considered a strong candidate for the position. After all, if you did it somewhere else yesterday, you can do it for this company tomorrow. Your success stories should include the situation, the action you took and the result. • 3. Theseus And The Labyrinth In Greek Theatre The myth of Theseus and the Labyrinth can be transformed into an Athenian tragedy because there is not an abundance of characters, there is a unity of action, and a unity of time. To adapt this myth of Theseus into an Athenian tragedy, a few changes would have to be made. One drastic change that I would implement is something completely new to the Athenian theatre; I would use the audience as part of the play. Constructing and displaying a labyrinthon the stage would be incredibly difficult to pull off therefore I would have the audience seated in a labyrinth type structure in addition to having a small section that leads to the back of the stage as this is where the minotaurwould be. In addition to using the audience as a labyrinth, the composition of the chorus would contribute to the importance of Theseustask of killing the minotaur.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chorus would be composed of the seven men and women sent into the labyrinth every year to feed the minotaur. Choosing the sacrificed people to serve as the chorus further intensifies the importance for Theseus to kill the minotaur because if he fails, the cycle will continue and countless people will have to be sacrificed to feed the beast. In Agamemnon by Aeschylus, the chorus consists of old men whom are citizens of Argos (Aeschylus Agamemnon 1. 40 43). The chorus in Agamemnon serves as a wise voice to the audience whereas the chorus of this play would be slightly sinister and foreboding, however, it would still serve the purpose of explaining to the audience the importance of the task at ... • 5. Path Analysis Paper Main analyses involved running each of three models through AMOS SEM software separately, using path analysis techniques to assess direct and indirect effects, among the present observed variables (Arbuckle, 2013). Path analysis, which is based on multiple regressions, examines the relationship between exogenous (i.e., variablenot causes by another variable, but effects one or more variablesin model) and endogenous variables (i.e., a variable that is caused or effected by one or more variables in a model; Iacobucci, 2010). Path models examine the total effects, as well as the direct and indirect of effects of variables in a single model, simultaneously (Peterson et al., 2014). Structural equation modeling path analysis techniques are superior to standard regression analyses in that they: 1) provide more accurate estimates of the effects of hypothesized variables; 2) estimate all effects simultaneously; 3) allow for greater accuracy of parameter estimates when examining competing models; and 4) allow the researcher to compare effects of multiple mediators (Zhao, Lynch, Chen, 2010). Mediation Testing. Data were fit to the path model using AMOS SEM software. Other aspects of a student s home life such as level of parental involvement and support, parent s educational expectations, parent s attitudes about school, and stability of the family environment can also influence a youth s decision to stay in school. For example, results from the NCES study found that students whose parents were not actively involved in the student s school, whose parents infrequently talked to them about school related matters, or whose parents held low expectations for their child s future educational achievement were more likely to drop out. Another reason why a lot of students drop out of school is simply because they don t like it. High school, through its control over many decisions that are made for students, still seems to be restrictive. Many aspects of a student s life are pre set and cannot be changed by the student to fit his needs. For example, a student s time schedule is set every year. Every student must go the same amount of hours every year. In most cases, school is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day, whether he or she actually needs all the time or not. • 7. Search For Truth The historian and the search for truth A historian is a person who studies and writes about the past and is regarded as an authority on it. Historians are concerned with the continuous, methodical narrative and research of past events as relating to the human race; as well as the study of all history in time. History, in its broadest sense, is the totality of all past events, although a more realistic definition would limit it to the known past. Of all the fields of serious study and literary effort, history may be the hardest to define precisely, because the attempt to uncover past events and formulate an intelligible account of them necessarily involves the use and influence of many auxiliary disciplines and literary forms. The concern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability, that is whether it can be shown to correspond to experience. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scientific facts are verified by repeatable experiments. E. H. Carr in his 1961 volume, what is History? argues that the inherent biases from the gathering of facts makes the objective truth of any historical perspective idealistic and impossible. Facts are, like fish in the Ocean, of which we may only happen to catch a few, only an indication of what is below the surface. Even a dragnet cannot tell us for certain what it would be like to live below the Ocean s surface. Even if we do not discard any facts (or fish) presented, we will always miss the majority; the site of our fishing, the methods undertaken, the weather and even luck play a vital role in what we will catch. Additionally, the composition of history is inevitably made up by the compilation of many different bias of fact finding all compounded over time. He concludes that for a historian to attempt a more objective method, one must accept that history can only aspire to a conversation of the present with the past and that one s methods of fact gathering should be openly examined. As with science, historical truth and facts will therefore change over time and reflect only the present consensus (if that). A historical fact is a fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Good pride represents our dignity and self respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance (Maxwell). In the Fable, The fox and the grapes Aesop writes about a fox who ventures out into a vineyard full of grapes, unable to obtain the grapes the fox walks away, however not without saying his last and final words. However, throughout the past few centuries, many ethical questions have been brought up regarding how the human race interacts with nature. As our factories and civilizations increase and expand, so does our footprint. One fairly recent ethical concern is the act of hunting. Hunting has been a staple in the evolution of the humanrace. The harvesting of animals has provided humans with many valuable resources necessary to survive. Alice Walker, Aldo Leopold, and many other professionals have studied, researched, and written about their views and findings on this matter. Once all of the information has been examined and digested, one can come to a conclusion that is held by hunters and conservationists alike. Hunting is in fact a human intrusion on nature that poses many ethical concerns and among these are hunting for necessity, population control, and sport/prosperity; however, if hunting is done in a principled and legal manner, the act is inherently just. Alice Walker speaks of how the Native Americans treated animals like humans and only killed when it was necessary for their survival. Both Empires were invaded by forces that mostly likely would not have attacked had the Empires not already been weak militarily and economically. Suicide Prevention And Intervention For Ptsd Effective Suicide Prevention and Intervention for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Over the course of a lifetime, people experience both triumphs and trials. Accepting a new job, starting a family, or buying a new home are all exciting triumphs, while the loss of a loved one to illness or the endurance of domestic violence are overwhelming trials. In response to trauma and various difficult life situations, people often contemplate suicide. Existing literature on suicide, prevention, and intervention suggests an incredibly alarming number of people struggle with suicide ideation and behaviors. In the last decade, research evidence has been used to propose and implement prevention and intervention strategies in an effort to decrease the national suicide rate. For those who have experienced trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is often an outcome. Because the national suicide rate remains high, and with an increase in traumatic events in the United States, there is likely a need for new and improved, empirically based prevention and intervention plans for supporting people with PTSD who are at risk of suicide. Thus, the following review outlines research exploring the relationship between PTSD and suicide, and more specifically, the prevention and intervention methods used in supporting people who have PTSD and are at higher risk of suicide. Political bosses ensured support was by offering goods and services, including business contracts and licences within the city s growing areas, otherwise known as bribery. • 24. Parkinson s Disease Scientists generally agree that most cases of Parkinson s disease result from some combination of nature and nurture the interaction between a people s underlying genetic make up and his or her life activities and environmental exposures. A simple way to describe this is that genetics loads the gun and environment pulls the trigger. In this formulation, environment has a very broad meaning that is, it refers to any and all possible causes other than those that are genetic in origin. The interactions between genes and environment can be quite complex. Some environmental exposures may lower the risk of PD, while others may increase it. Similarly, some people have inherited a genetic makeup that makes them more or less susceptible to the effects of toxicants, or poisonous agents, than others. The effect of a combined exposure can be greater or lower than a single exposure. All of this means that the particular combination of factors leading to PD is likely to be unique for each person. These combinations, in different ways, may trigger a common series of biological changes that will ultimately lead to the disease. Scientists are beginning to tease apart the non genetic factors that influence PD risk. In particular, epidemiologists are working to identify differences in the experiences of people who develop PD, compared to those who do not. But identifying these risk factors can be difficult. • 27. Impact Of Ww2 On Australian Economy Australians at War World War II (WWII) made a significant impact in shaping modern Australia. This war contributed to social, political and technological developments throughout Australia and the world. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENTS WWII had a big impact on the social changes in Australia before and after the war. One of the reasons it had such an impact on Australia was due to the immigration policy, which was made to increase Australia s population. The immigration policy is a policy on legal migrants. Legal migrants who come to Australia under the migration act are non Australians who come to the country for work or other reasons without permission or people who overstay their visas. This enforces that those who come in the country without permission may be subject to mandatory immigration detention and may be deported from the country at any time, unless been given permission to stay in Australia. This policy has contributed to the multicultural society of Australia today. To this day, there in an estimated 50 000 people who have overstayed their visas, most of these people come from British nations. Those touching base by boat or different means without official classification as refugees are no longer granted permission outcast status on landing. For example, those from an Asian background are becoming a more familiar part of Australia s society today. Overseas migrant entries have assumed a vital part in changing the face of Australia. The current variety of migrants born in Australia include areas such as The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Italy, Vietnam, China, Greece, Germany, Philippines and India. Since the change in immigration policy in the late 1960s to one of non discrimination on race or ethnic background, there has been a significant change in the overseas sources of migrants, with settlers arriving from more diverse regions of the world. To this day, Australia s overseas born population consists of people who practise over 140 recognized ethnic groups, people who fluently speak over 90 different languages and people who believe in over 80 different religions. This process might be critical as at some point some might face a very slow refreezing process, as transaction rarely stops in good shape and without any roughness(Morrison, 2014) . In most advanced organizations this stage considered temporal , as they have another change right by the corner , in this case this stage is not considered as a real refreezing stage, its just there to make the next refreezing stage easier to adapt and accepted(Wirth , 2004) . However, many organizations find that their staff go through a shock stage due to the change, and that does reflect on their competency level, and their efficiency as well(Burnes, 2004) . Conclusion Lewin s model helps managers to execute the change in their organizations , as this change covers the main three stages of unfreezing, change with refreezing , and refreezing. Lewin s stages gives enough direction to how deal with the change, people and help them to overcome the stages and have stability in the refreezing stage. This does not change the fact, that having cooperative people, who accept the change and embrace it , would make this process kick smoothly and executed in the right way (Morrison, 2014) ... This narrative is eloquently written by Washington Irving, a prolific nineteenth century American writer. The Author sets the story in a village near the Hudson River, along the banks of the Catskill Mountains where Great Britain once held reigns. Chapter One: There is No One Else Mistress Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockle shells, and marigolds all in a row.
