Essay All About Mussels
Mussels are a type of shellfish called bivalves. Bivalves are molluscs that are enclosed by a shell in
two hinged parts. They include clams, oysters, and scallops. Mussels grow in colonies that attach
themselves to rocks, pilings, or other hard surfaces with their beards . However, most commercial
cultivated mussels are grown on hanging ropes. There are many types of mussels; and that they are
very nutritious as well as they can be cooked in many different ways. Also they are enjoyed around the
world. Even though there are many types of mussels available in markets, they can all be used
interchangeably. The three main types of mussels are Mediterranean, Blue, and Green lip.
Mediterranean mussels are known for their wide shells and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Additionally, not only are mussels delicious to eat, they are easy to cook and can be cooked in a
variety of ways such as steaming, roasting, grilling, boiling, smoking, and deep frying. However, the
easiest way to cook these delicious molluscs is steaming. This method requires the steam created from
the cooking liquid to cook the mussels. The cooking liquid can be clam juice, salty water, wine, or
even beer. For this method, the cooking liquid is combined with herbs such as rosemary or sage and
softened shallots (cooking them in butter or oil for few minutes). The mussels are placed into the
saucepan after they are washed and given a good scrub. However, mussels that are opened when
tapped on a counter or chipped or cracked must be discarded. Then the saucepan is placed on high
heat for a few minutes. Mussels are finished cooking when most of the shells are opened, about 5
minutes. However, there may be some that stay closed after cooking. These, just like the broken shell
mussels, must be discarded. Moreover, mussels are great for grilling. Just heat grill to hot and place
the whole mussels on the grill. When the mussels start to open, they are done and ready to eat. Just
finish them with a sprinkle of ground black pepper. If mussels are cooked this way, they are surely
going to be devoured before they are able to reach the dinner table. Mussels can also be pan roasted.
Place the mussels in a hot pan

Endosymbiosis and evolution of Organelles Essay
Endosymbiosis is important as it enables us to understand the evolution of eukaryotes from the
common ancestor. This essay will focus on: the early evolution of our eukaryote ancestor during
Precambrian period, plastids origin along the algae family due to second endosymbiosis; discuss the
evidence that supports the theory, including further examples of endosymbiosis. The theory, as
discussed by Lynn Margulis, states that mitochondria originated from α proteobacteria bacterium
which was engulfed by the ancestral anaerobic eukaryotic cell, through endocytosis, and retained
within the cytoplasm due to atmospheric oxygen increase. Prokaryote organism produced ATP,
through oxidative phosphorylation, by receiving organic compounds from ... Show more content on

They all have a double membrane chloroplasts, but the glaucophytes plastid morphology is unusual
because it resembles cyanobacteria, as they still include the outer peptidoglycan layer between the
chloroplast envelopes, and also resemble Chlorophyta and Rhodophyta plastid. Both Rhodophyta and
Glaucophyta consist of various features that are derived from the cyanobacteria but absent from
Chlorophyta. These are phycobilins pigments and phycobilisomes on the surface on thylakoid
membranes. Because of sequencing algae chloroplast genomes it is evident that glaucophytes,
rhodophytes and chlorophytes have evolved from a second endosymbiotic event, since they are
closely related to the ancestral cyanobacteria (Tomitani, 2006). Alternatively, some algal groups have
chloroplast with more than a double membrane, such as photosynthetic dinoflagellates and
stramenophile, implying that secondary endosymbiosis occurred due to heterotrophic eukaryote
engulfing chloroplast containing eukaryote. The secondary endosymbiosis event is suggested as
nucleomorphs , traces of primary host s nucleus, are present in the periplastid space between the
second and third chloroplast membranes of cryptomonads and chlorarachniophytes. In the
cryptomonads the nucleomorphs is formed due to the reduction of red algal nucleus and in the
chlorarachniophytes due to the reduction of green algal nucleus. Thus, plants had multiple
endosymbiotic events and each evolved independently

Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era Essay
Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era
To be able to appraise the originality of eighteenth century English art, one must recognize its
importance in history. A great painter to research is Thomas Gainsborough. His artwork was an
important aspect of the art community of the middle seventeen hundreds. His paintings seem to bring
brightness and color to a period in art that needed his creative boost. His combination of portrait
paintings along with beautiful landscapes was not recognized in his time, but would be recognized as
remarkable later in history.
Thomas Gainsborough was born in 1727 in the town of Sudbury in Suffolk (Internet 1). He grew up as
the son of a woodworking father and his mother was a teacher. He had 7 ... Show more content on

This did not interest Gainsborough; he enjoyed being able to paint subjects outdoors (Internet 4). He
was fond of drawing trees grass and other objects that would not be found in an indoor studio. He was
not the first to draw backgrounds in his paintings; many have done this before him. His task was to
paint a background that was just as important as the subjects do but not distract either. By painting
outdoors, his paintings became much more colorful that most paintings of the past (Woodall 32).
Brighter paintings were much improvement over the paintings of the past. They were very eye
appealing and much more noticeable. Gainsborough s untrained painter s eye did not effect the
outcome of his paintings; he was painting from his heart. He painted whatever his eyes saw; in most
cases the outcome of his paintings were a perfect mix of background and foreground. People began to
start noticing his artwork even though he did not have a degree or formal education in art; this was
very promising to the young painter. His work slowly moved up into the great artwork of the city. His
name was becoming known all around. He can begin his career with the bright colors he added to the
scenery of the painting.
One superb example of where the colors and scenery effected a painting is in the painting Mr. and
Mrs. Andrews. In my first examination of the painting, many questions were brought up. One question

Project Quality Management Chapter 8 Discussion Questions...
Project Quality Management CHAPTER 8 DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Q1. Discuss some of the examples of poor quality in information technology projects presented in the
What Went Wrong? section. Could most of these problems have been avoided? Why do you think
there are so many examples of poor quality in information technology projects?
Answer: Many of these problems could be avoided by performing better quality management. One
problem is that software and hardware is hitting the market too fast, so people selling these might be
more concerned about money than safety or wellbeing of the consumers or the company in the long
term.
Q2.What are the main processes included in planning project quality management?
Answer: The project quality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Describe typical benchmarks associated with a college or university.
Answer: Benchmarking generates ideas for quality improvements by comparing specific project
practices or product characteristics to those of other projects or products within or outside the
performing organization.
Benchmarks help you compare project practices or product characteristics to others within or outside
the organization. Typical benchmarks with a college or university include rankings, student/faculty
ratio, acceptance rate, graduation rate, percentage of faculty with Ph.D.s, etc.
Q5.What are the three main categories of outputs of quality control?
Answer: * The main outputs of quality control are: * Acceptance decisions * Rework * Process
adjustments * There are Seven Basic Tools of Quality that help in performing quality control
Q6.Provide examples of when you would use the Seven Basic Tools of Quality on an information
technology project.
Answer: The seven tools are: * Cause and Effect Diagrams used to identify the underlying symptoms
of a problem or effect as a means of finding the root cause. * Pareto Charts: Based upon the Pareto
Principle that states that 80% of a problem is attributable to 20% of its causes, or inputs, a Pareto
Chart organizes and displays information in order to show the relative importance of various problems
or causes of problems. * Flow

Dystopian Society
Many novels, as well as video games, deal with texts of the dystopic genre. Dystopia has become an
instrumental form of literature in all countries; however, some texts are better at relaying their
message than others. For example, in the video game, The Last of Us, the two protagonists, one adult
male and one young girl, fight through hordes of the infected . They do so in order to save mankind
from utter extinction. Despite being a video game, this text captures the quintessential elements
needed in order to become a relatable piece of work and does so by making both Joel and Ellie (the
protagonists) truthful characters. In addition to The Last of Us, the novel The Running Man, by Steven
King, also deals with the topic of dystopia. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He soon approaches what looks like an injured man; however, the man was not injured and attempts to
kill Joel and Ellie to steal his truck. This is a prime example of the modified human nature present in
dystopian societies. In an attempt to preserve what human kindness Joel has left , he ends up in a
situation much like that of Richards in The Running Man, creating a similarity in the two story arcs.
The use of cliché as a rhetoric device is present in both Richards, and Joel and Eli s lives, and serves
as one of the reasons why both story arcs hold the attention of the player/reader. However, The Last of
Us serves as a much more relatable situation for the player than that of the reader of Stephen King s
famous novel, due to the realism and player emersion that the game provides. The Last of Us puts the
dystopian society into the hands of anyone that can hold a controller, yet still provides a meaningful
plot with character development to bout. The length of the game in itself is an effective way to
persuade the player of its meaning, and the dangers of a potential future. For the average player, it can
take anywhere from 15 to 30 hours of playing time to complete the storyline for The Last of Us,
constantly driving home the nature of the dystopian society. The fact that The Last of Us is a video
game too makes it much more accessible and appealing to the younger generations. While Stephen
King is a legendary author in his own right, it can be intimidating for someone to read one of his
novels. Along with this comes the general growth of technology, and the fact that paperbacks are soon
becoming irrelevant. The dramatic increase in technology makes a video game much more likely to
get selected over a novel for leisure, regardless of the topic that each chooses to address. This is what
makes The Last of Us a more realistic option for the spreading awareness of

How Is Mrs Mallard Weak
So many people go through life just like Mrs. Mallard does for most of her life, scared and dependent
on someone else. It is the safe way to live. Most people are happy with that until they experience true
freedom. While the events that Mrs. Mallard goes through are sad from a normal point of view, to her,
they are enlightening. While so many people go through there life without ever really understanding
true freedom, Mrs. Mallard does, if only for a short time, and the emotional states that she goes
through to understand this is very interesting. Her emotional state changes from being the frail old
lady, to being frightened of change that she knew was coming, to being almost glad that her husband

when she saw the kind tender hands folded in death , she also knows that she will be glad to get out of

(Chopin). She breaks the restraints that her husband put on her as she comprehends that she can live
for herself instead of living the life that her husband wants her to (ebscohost). While it was through
terrible circumstances, she has finally freed herself from having to do whatever her husband deems
appropriate. It was this revelation that finally killed her at the end of the story. Realizing that she had
finally gained that true freedom from her husband and having that freedom taken away from her,
along with the fact that she still loved her husband but was at peace with his death, was too much to
bear, and the pain of it ended up killing

Re Expansion Of Ebay Into China
The re expansion of eBay into China seems to be a viable probability and a part of the companies plan
for the near future. In 2002, eBay established a presence in china with the acquisition of leading
auction site Eachnet to form eBay Eachnet. Up until 2005 eBay Eachnet was the leader of the
ecommerce market due to their C2C platform. However, with the emergence of Alibaba owned
subsidiary Taobao.com (Taobao), eBay Eachnet soon lost its stronghold on the market. This factor
combined with a rigid Chinese ecommerce market drove eBay to withdraw business dealings in the
country in 2006.
Yet, the goal of a successful longstanding ecommerce venture has never been far from the companies
plan. In 2013 the ecommerce giant announced plans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As interest in eBay and conducting business on the site began to grow eBay started applying a
nominal fee for listing items on the site, and a percentage of proceeds after sales had concluded.
Application of nominal fees on each transaction enabled Omidyar to garner revenue from his venture.
In 1996 Omidyar appointed Jeff Skoll as president of eBay. Skoll s first order of business as president
of eBay was to grow the customer support team for e bays market place and in 1997. This entailed
appointing people to eBay s customer service department to settle disputes, attract new customers and
keep current customers happy. By September of 1997 the company officially changed its name to the
now well known moniker eBay Inc. It was in this same year that eBay was receiving one million page
hits per week and at minimum 15,000 item listings per day. eBay, thereby had become one of the most
visited sites on the web.
With the company growing at an exponential rate Skoll and Omidyar knew that they needed to garner
venture capital. So, in 1997, Omidyar and Skoll approached the U.S venture capital firm Benchmark.
They were able to broker a deal and Benchmark endowed eBay with $ 5 million with the stipulation
that Benchmark be given a 22 percent stake in the company. With the help of Benchmark Omidyar
and Skoll were able to bring onboard David Beirne and Robert Kagle to service operations, as well as

The Theme Of Mary Lennox s The Secret Garden
Keys can be a dangerous thing to have in possession. They can unlock doors that may remind people
of darker times, or they could open the way to opportunity. Everything in the world has a key , both
literally and figuratively. As Mary Lennox said, I found the key! It s like magic! But not only did she
find the key to the secret garden, she found the key to end her feelings of abandonment, loss, and
neglect. The theme of The Secret Garden is isolation and abandonment.
Even before Mary Lennox even arrives at her new home, she finds herself resenting it. But what else
could she do? The young girl had never experienced love or excitement. Medlock, trying to pass time,
asks her if she has a favorite story. With her arms folded across her chest, and her face scrunched to
show wrinkles, Mary retorts to the Medlock, My mother didn t have the time to tell me stories. The
Medlock, she is surprised, but simply shakes her head and remains silent for the rest of the journey.
Mary had come from India, where she lived with her neglectful parents. Mary is so emotionally
damaged that she said I was angry. I never cried. I didn t know how to cry. When her parents died,
rumors spread that she did not show remorse. At the manor, Mary quickly gives herself the reputation
of being a spoiled girl, as shown when she commanded Martha to dress her, and then called her
unitellegent when Martha was trying to make a joke about Mary s wardrobe colors, which happened to
be black. Mary is upset, but Martha ends up introducing her to Dickon, who becomes her first friend.
Mary goes outside and finds a garden, and an old man. He asks her why she is here, and she replies
and says, Where s the door? Mary wants to find the key to the garden, as she is intrigued by it. The old
man tells her that, No one s been inside that place for ten years, referencing to the fact that Archibald
Craven(Mary s uncle) closed the garden when his son Colin was born and his wife died. The garden
was his wife s favorite, and they say she died by falling off a swing in the garden. Mary meets Dickon,
and they instantly become friends. Mary wasted no time inviting him into the garden. Dickon tells her
to show me the way in, referring to the symbolism of the

Winter Solstice Short Story
Winter Solstice was a very special time in Stormholt, with Kenna and Val s friends visiting them every
year for a grand celebration. It was cold and windy that night, and even though Kenna and Val were
having fun, they were also feeling restless. Damn it Kenna, this dress is so itchy! I hate having to be so
formal. I know Val, but at least I let you do your hair the way you like. With an amorous look, Kenna
eyed Val up and down. You re not wearing anything underneath that dress are you, Val? Grinning at
Kenna, Val nodded, You know me too well. But I m pretty sure it s not just me. I guess you ll have to
find out later. As Val observed the way Kenna s hair flowed in the wind, she had a hard time
concentrating on anything else. ... and that s how I invented plumbing. I... Val! Are you even listening?
What? Oh yeah, very funny, Whitlock. Val! It s not supposed to be funny, it s supposed to be
interesting! Ok, then it s really interesting, Val said with her eyes locked on Kenna, not fully aware of
what she was even saying. Ugh, I don t know why I try with you, maybe Lia will be more considerate.
With that, Whitlock walked off, leaving Val alone with her wife. Kenna, this shouldn t be possible, but
when you re bathed in moonlight, you re even more beautiful. Placing her hand on Val s thigh, Kenna
smiled and gave her a kiss. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you, my gorgeous wife.
Kenna looked around to see if anyone was paying attention to them.

Individualism and Collectivism in Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Never ask people, not about your work. In a world where individuality is Poisoned by the ends of
society, Howard Roark displays a faint glimmer of hope, whereas Lois cook epitomizes collectivism.
Roark s demeanor, personality, ideals, and perseverance all pin him as a shining example of
individualism. Roark clashes with the concept of conformity, a widespread phenomenon in
contemporary American society, which is one of the underlying causes of collectivist dictatorship.
Lois Cook is a writer of nonsense who exercises nonconformity and is under the control of Toohey.
However, her pursuit of nonconformity, often thought to be the opposite of blind obedience, is merely
a variation on the same theme. In Fountainhead, Ayn Rand explores the theme of individualism versus
collectivism, not only in politics but in mans soul; the psychological motivations and the basic
premises that produce the character of an individualist or a collectivist. Howard Roark is an adamant
architect, who believes that one s wholeness is always reflected in one s work. Roark practices
architecture with a modern style, and throughout the novel, he is opposed by people who blindly
believe in tradition, in the architectural styles of the past. But he displays diligence and integrity in his
choosing to not let laws dictate a single detail. His buildings were not Classical, Gothic, nor
Renaissance. They were only Howard Roark. Howard Roark is a manifestation of the ideal man, who

How Did Levis Impact The World
Levi Strauss woke up one day, not knowing that he would impact the world forever. You maybe be
asking, What in the world did Strauss do? He was the one who invented Genes! (Or What we call
nowadays Jeans.) Here is some back information about Levi Strauss life. He was born February 26,
1829, in the city of Buttenheim, Germany. He has six siblings and he was the youngest. Growing up in
Germany for him was hard because he was Jewish. When Levi was sixteen, his father passed away
from a disease. This was the time where he moved to America. After a few years, the Gold Rush came
into play. He decided that it would be good opportunity to make a business. So he moved to California
to find some inspiration. In the 1850 s he moved from New York to California where he opened a shop
selling supplies to miners. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this would make an impact. It was just one of the normal things that people sold in the shop. He

different. Miners loved the pants so much it became super popular. In a matter of time, Strauss was
working so hard for everyone to get at least one pair. Soon he edited his pants once again and started
to use blue denim (Which are pronounced Genes in French but in English it is Jeans ) for his pants.
Then soon in 1872, Jacob Davis, a Nevada Tailor, sent a letter. He requested something that he couldn
t do. Adding rivets or what we know, pockets. Jacob didn t have the money to complete the patent
process so he decided to tell Strauss. And so, the jeans we know and love were

English Tort Law And The Public Sector
English Tort Law and the Importance of Duty of Care in the Public Sector (Based on the Kent v
Griffith Case from the year 2000)
Tort Law is concerned with accidental injuries and deals with the distribution of losses occurred
during those injuries. Every country has its own statutory law , thus according to these laws acts in its
own way in different situations. Public health and ambulance services are of great importance when it
comes to preventing injuries and damages. In the UK, before the 2000s, ambulances were not obliged
(by common law) to provide emergency service, but were rather considered an ordinary health care
provider. Therefore, in a lot of cases it would be difficult to put the liability on the defendant, which
automatically leads to a higher number of injuries and damages. In the case Kent v Griffith an
important outcome and rule is created, which creates the hope of decreasing damages significantly in
the future. I will argue that the duty of care in the health care system (especially ambulances) should
be treated with greater attention, as it can lessen enormous damages caused by delayed service and
unreasoned explanations. Furthermore, I will try and prove that, due to negligence, the damages
created by delayed services, thus lack of duty of care in the public sector, are far exceeding precaution
costs; Moreover, they harm the economy and social well being as well.
Duty of care can be viewed as a control device used for determining when the defendant

no, it wasn t that particular deity I was praying to, Clare said with a secretive smile. On another lazy

felt that writing rhyming verse was sometimes too arduous a task. The poem was, as were all her

love a crime for which I shall be eternally punished? Should I say something, lie to you perhaps?

Radiation Exposure And Its Effects On The Earth
Dai 5 gradually travels away from the Earth. A chronic radiation exposure is the most accurate term to
describe the level of radiation astronauts have to undergo in the flight to Europa. The spacecraft
obviously does not naturally have a strong magnetic field constantly being generated by a liquid iron
core that the Earth has to shield off most of the harmful radiation. An average normal radiation dose
given to a person on Earth in one day is approximately 10 microsieverts. As indicated by the
instrument on the Mars rover during its cruise days in the space, astronauts would receive a radiation

a more quantitative perspective, the amount of radiation being received by the astronauts is equal to
the amount from CT scans on a nearly weekly basis. Since the distance from the Earth to Europa is
much greater than the distance from the Earth to Mars, such a chronic radiation exposure is really a
serious hazard to the astronauts. (Karl Tate, 2013) The good news is that with nuclear technology in
the twenty second century, nuclear reactors along with the nuclear propulsion device can provide long
lasting energy to sustain an artificial magnetic field around the spacecraft to shield off the radiation.
This is also another reason why the spacecraft implements an integration of solar sails and nuclear
propulsion: the nuclear reactor can generate enough power to sustain the

Poets Present Difficult Relationships in The Farmer’s...
Charlotte Mew explores the theme of lack of intimacy during the course of her poem, The Farmers
Bride. Various techniques are used to represent the stilted relationship the speaker and his maid
succumb to. Likewise, The Manhunt, written by Simon Armitage uses various metaphors and
semantic fields of war and anguish to illustrate the speaker s yearning to feel the hurt her partner is
experiencing and take the pain away. Although, the ambiguous ending doesn t satisfy this.
The six stanzas in The Farmer s Bride are of various lengths, with the meter per line varying. Mew
uses this as a representation of the in balance in the relationship of the farmer and his bride. During
the last stanza the farmer is presented to feel sympathetic for his bride and possibly regretful for the
animalistic manner he treated her throughout as she sleeps up in the attic there alone, poor maid Tis
but a stair betwixt us. This is structured in a stair way format, possibly implying the farmer s now
determination to work on his currently failed relationship. Relating this to the stairs which distances
them, is highlighting that they are on different levels from each other, but, despite this he is willing to
try. The two being on different levels is also reflective of their lack of intimacy with each other, yet,
the farmer longs for some other in the house than we. In comparison, Armitage structures his poem in
various stanza consisting of two lines each. This gives a sense of

Do consumers have a connection with their shampoo brand? To find out, we interviewed four
individuals on their choices, associations, and purchasing decisions when it came to shampoo. The
aim of this research was to learn how consumer product relationships develop and relate to future
purchasing decisions with mundane products less than five pounds. From the interviewers, we
discovered how consumers relate to shampoo, their purchasing habits, price ... Show more content on

Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo
brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or
discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering
discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand
Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years
and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group
e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using
brand ambassadors.
Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer product relationship
between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a group we were surprised by the level of brand
loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. A successful marketing campaign should therefore
not only take into account the consumer decision making process but also the consumer product
relationship. As it is through exploiting and analyzing this relationship that marketers can capture new
customers and retain old customers. Marketing managers should not underestimate the power of the
consumer product relationship even for something as mundane and seemingly unimportant as

Louisiana s Cajun Dialect
Louisiana s Cajun Dialect
Linguist and Cajun Megan E. Melancon calls the Cajun dialect a gumbo . There are many languages
that make up this gumbo. The various languages include Spanish, French, German, and English. The
Cajun language is mainly spoken in Southern Louisiana, but can reach into parts of Southern Texas
and Southern Mississippi due to emigration (Melancon).
The word Cajun comes from the word Acadien. Acadia was a French colony in 1604 located in the
areas now known as New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Canada. In the middle of the eighteenth
century approximately four thousand Acadians moved into South Louisiana, into the region around
Lafayette and the Lafourche Bayou country. This group of people brought with them the French
language. Over the years the Cajun dialect emerged. Many say Cajun is not just a dialect but an entire
language of its own.

Cajun English is a combination of English and French, borrowing words and phrases from the French
language and is greatly influenced by Cajun French. How to Speak Cajun English (or at least

site also explains various idioms used by Cajuns. Syntax, the arrangement of words in a sentence, is
also explained. The example given for Syntax is, I didn t do that, No! instead of No, I didn t do that! A
lot of Cajuns will drop the final letter(s) of some words. An example of this would be dropping the t
from what. Another common practice is to change the th sound to t or d . Some examples of this are,
thing=ting, that=dat, this=dat, and bath=bat. One example of a sentence, Wha dat ting ya got? An
English speaking person would normally say, What s that thing you have? Some examples of the

Attenuation Types Of Photon Energy
The CBCT is relatively recent technology, with the first commercial scanner being introduced in 1998
for dental imaging (87) This is a type of CT that uses a cone X ray beam instead of the conventional
fan beam (88). For standard full field of view for CBCT, polychromatic X rays are generated from a
source tube excited by 100 120 kV tube potential with 1.5 10 mA current (89). The emitted X ray
photon energy is absorbed by materials located be¬tween the X ray source and detector. The
remaining energy after absorption is recorded on a detector as expressed by intensity (I) that
represents energy per area and time. For example, the flat panel detector consists of a pixel array of
hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin film transistors (88). A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

streak artefacts during reconstruction pro¬cess for the CBCT image (90). Beam hardening occur as the
energy levels of polychromatic X ray beams used in the CBCT are not identical, the lower energy
photons can be easily absorbed at the edges of the scanned subject resulting in hardening of the X ray
beam, which produces lower gray values toward the center of the subject (cup¬ping artifact) even if
the density of the subject is homoge¬nous (91) Defects or un calibrated components in the detector
may cause ring artefacts with concentric rings in the CBCT im¬age. Scanning dense metallic materials
can cause severe streaking artifacts when their gray values exceed the maxi mum level of operation
that the software can handle (91). Shading or streaking artefacts may be observed when the gray
values are incorrectly registered due to patient motion during CBCT scanning (90,91) This artefact
com¬monly appears as double contours in the CBCT image. To date, CBCT based BMD measurement
has been used mainly to estimate bone properties for dental implanta¬tion (92). The BMD measured
from CBCT images showed a better predicting power to estimate cortical bone frac¬ture than assessed
by the conventional DXA images (93). More applications are performed for the diagnosis of oral bone

Prison Vs Minimum Security Prison
Life imprisonment is any sentence of imprisonment for a crime under which convicted persons are to
remain in prison on unlimited time, traditionally for the rest of their life or if possible until paroled.
State and Federal governments maintain correctional facilities. Prisons are categorized by levels of
security. Minimum security prisons house inmates convicted of non violent offenses. Minimum
security prisons sometimes are surrounded by single fences. Medium security prisons the inmates are
housed in their own cells, but they have more opportunities to leave them. Medium security prisons
are primarily for inmates do have a history of violence. Medium security prisons have a single fence
instead of a triple fence. Medium security prisons are surrounded with fences wrapped at the top with
barbwire. Medium security prisons allow for inmates to attend treatment programs. The inmates are
locked in their cells each night and a bed check and an inmate count performed to make sure each
inmate is accounted for and in their correct cell. The outside of the prison isn t as secure as the
maximum; however, it still prevents inmates from escaping easily. Maximum security prisons are the
highest security prisons. Inmates are housed in cells and most have a history of violence. Maximum
security prisons have either thick walls or multiple reinforced fences. Maximum security prisons also
have armed guards in watch towers. Criminals that are incarcerated in maximum security have been

Essay On Physics After The Discovery Of The Atom
PARTICLE PHYSICS AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF THE HIGGS
The world of physics had been developed a well established model of the atom. The standard model
had been pretty well tied up , with its group of 16 elementary particles and their nice set of rules
describing how they should interact. Physicists had observed until the Higgs discovery, 16 of these
particles. The crowd was already beginning to desperate for a 17th particle that would send the model
in new and wild directions (supposedly). But the Higgs particle ruined the hopes and expectations of
everybody: it turned out to be very ordinary: its behavior was just like the model said it would act,
obeying every theorized rule [2]. Therefore, the Standard Model is vindicated. And this was a ... Show

The weak force, on the other hand, is associated with particles called W and Z bosons, very massive
comparing to the other particles.
The Higgs mechanism is thought to be responsible for this, now that the existence of the particle is a
fact: if we recognize the existence of the Higgs field, the W and Z bosons mix with this field,
acquiring mass, explaining the reason of why the W and Z bosons have mass. This unifies as well the
electromagnetic and weak forces into the electroweak force. [4]
An interesting side effect, much less important than the discoveries, indeed, but with enough
importance for itself, is the validation of the large amounts of effort and money invested in the
equipment like the LHC. This flattens the road for the investment in the next generation of scientific
machinery to keep researching. After analyzing the facts, this money is going to be very needed in the
near future. It has been theorized that dark energy is the bulk of the energy of the universe, and the
dark matter and energy existence is neither explained by the Standard Model. This model can´t explain
gravity or the neutrino mass. Nowadays, scientific community knows that the Standard Model is an
approximation of another theory, more comprehensive and able to explain the Higgs mass with a most
natural approach. The reason is that the measured mass of the Higgs is about 100 million billion times
smaller than the value suggested by

Exitpost Analysis
Kenneth, the man behind the curtain of Exitpost, said when you listen to something and raise an
eyebrow that s the real good stuff. Exitpost accomplishes this goal by using electronica music as a
medium to convey an eyebrow raising musical experience with each song. Exitpost captures a sundry
of experimental vibes with an extensive variety of influences that creates an irrefutable chillwave
masterpiece. The album consists of ambient, downtempo, dream pop, and IBM music styles that
creates a diverse yet contained musical structure.
Kenneth started the project of Exitpost in 2012 on a trip back to his home of Tokyo, and then two
years later in 2014, he self released his first album Sweet Fade. Kenneth dove straight into a full

Kenneth began the album in Tokyo and finished it in New York City. The first two tracks Going and
Waiting, and the fourth track Eve were all started in Japan. Kenneth said I like to sample music that
makes me feel nostalgia about being in Japan. He has sampled from Japanese rock, American punk
rock, and even children s cartoons theme songs. This is important as electronic music is very
impersonal, thus Kenneth s variety acts as a distinct and personal addition to Exitpost. When asked
now about the three songs made in Japan, Kenneth said, its takes me back to Tokyo, but I won t
necessarily say they are more Tokyo sounding. Japanese music is on the complete opposite side of the
spectrum from typical American tunes, as it holds an unmatched energy and is like getting punched in

Elian Gonzalez: Analyzing The Impact
As an illegal immigrant fleeing from Cuba, Elian Gonzalez came to the United States and caused a
large discussion over whether or not he would stay, which helped reform The United States policy on
Cuban immigrants. Cuban American policy is a very controversial subject. Elian Gonzalez s case
changed the United states. At the time many Cubans were coming to the United States and they were
allowed to stay because of a policy called the wet foot, dry foot policy which said that if Cubans
reached United States soil they would be allowed to stay but if they were found in the water they
would be deported. They were also coming because of the effect of the embargo.
People began migrating from Cuba after a man named Fidel Castro overthrew the previous dictator of
Cuba in 1959. Fidel Castro promised democratic policies but soon after taking control he began
making the government totalitarian and everyone who opposed him was imprisoned. Castro became
even more totalitarian and communist because he wanted complete control of Cuba. Because of this
relations between Cuba and the United States worsened. At one point Castro nationalized American
businesses without compensation. After this a complete embargo was put into effect. The embargo
caused there to be more poverty in Cuba. Cuba became more allied with the soviets. The embargo
caused many Cuban citizens to flee Cuba

Similarities And Differences Between Football And Soccer

became widely known. I experienced this issue first hand when I traveled to Germany and Sweden last
summer for a soccer tournament and instantly noticed the difference from the moment I arrived. All of

In order to score, the team with the ball must cross the end zone without having an illegal play,
otherwise known as a flag. The team is awarded 6 points and the kicker must either kick a Point After
Touchdown (PAT) for an additional point or the team can attempt to score two points by attempting to
again cross the end zone, but this time starting from the two yard line. The rules of soccer, however,
completely differ from those of American football. Like football there are 11 players on the field with
specific positions, but the object of soccer is for a player to get the ball into the other team s goal by
using any part of the body except the player s hands and arms. The goalie is the only player allowed to
touch the ball with the hands and arms and then only while he is located in his own penalty area
(upperdublinsoccerclub.org). If any of these rules are broken by the players, the referee gives the
player either a yellow card as a warning or a red card for an automatic ejection from the game. So, as
you can see, whereas football primarily utilizes your hands, soccer leverages everything but your
hands. In addition to this, all soccer players are required to wear shin guards and soccer cleats, but if it
is organized soccer, a team jersey, team shorts, and long socks are also required. In football, however,
the players are required to wear much more: football cleats, shoulder pads, thigh pads, knee pads, hip

The European Union s Core Foundation
The European Union s core foundation began in the 1950 s, when the Treaty of Rome was signed.
Decades earlier, right after the Second World War, a movement was created to unite the countries of
Germany and France. The EU has, for some time, been a major player in world politics and with
twenty eight member states the EU has had its fair share of complications throughout the years.
Foreign policy began to take place early on as the EU was seen as a political system that was making
decisions on behalf 28 countries. In the 1970s Henry Kissinger, the United States Secretary of State
for President Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford, brought up the question of If I want to call
Europe, who do I call? This began a long and stressful debate of who is the official that needs to be
called when other foreign actors and institutions want to address a problem or simply ask a question to
the European Union. After many years European leaders claimed to have answered Henry Kissinger s
question by creating the European Council President and a European Foreign Minister position. But is
it as simple as that? Has this question really been resolved by just creating these positions? We can see
that reorganizing the Union s political structure has strengthened the EU, it has allowed them to show
foreign leaders a more united front and show that they, too, have global interests. In order to
understand if this question has truly been answered we need to learn a little bit more about the

and showcases some similar theme. It is important to know that every one of these watches made by
Invicta has its individual features, regardless of the style collection it belongs to. Without much ado, I
am glad to say Invicta has 32 style theme that each watch belongs to, or let s say design collections. I
have had people say that 32 is so limited to choose from, while others have clearly stated that it s a lot
of style collection to pick from. I do agree with both opinions, depending on which perspective I look
at it. Yes and No, 32 is a lot for individuals would just want to have a few, as it makes it difficult to
make a definitely selection on which to buy depending on the individuals style. For collectors, it might

Is Willy Loman a Tragic Hero in Death of Salesman
Willy Loman s character in Death of a Salesman portrays him as a tragic hero. Willy Loman continued
to want his recognition and his reputation but never forgets about his family. These characteristics
describe him as a tragic hero in Death of a Salesman.
Willy Loman s tragic flow leads him to purse the idea that reputation in society has more relevancies
in life than knowledge and education to survive in the business. His grand error of wanting recognition
drove him crazy and insane and lead to his tragic death. Willy s hubris makes him feel extremely
proud of what he has, when in reality he has no satisfaction with anything in his life. Willy Loman s
sons did not reach his expectations, as a father but he still continued to brag about ... Show more

He also takes pride in his job as a salesman. He continually argued with his wife about his job and
claims that he s a very important man in his business as a salesman. When he argues he exclaims ,
They don t need me in New York. I m Vital in England. ,(Shmpoo) making his point across that he s
an essential man to his career and he s very proud of it. He s always insisting he s critical to his
business. In other senses he has excessive pride by rejecting the job that Charley offers him and
because of his inflated pride it leads him to think he s well liked by everyone when even charley
admits not to like him himself. He has pride within himself because he has the idea in his mind that he
s a great salesman and when people repealed that he s no good at his job he argues and makes his
point across that he s in fact a great salesman. In the play Death of a salesman several people tell him
that he s no good at what he does, including he gets fired from his own job because his boss thinks
that he s uncap able of doing his own job and he also thinks that he s going insane and could take
some time off work for himself . As the story goes on he realizes that his kids aren t what he has

The Ban Of Medical Marijuana
Charlotte Figi, a six year old girl, had an untreatable form of epilepsy and used medical marijuana to
save her life. Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by the time she was
two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her parents were able to
get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication immediately stopped the
seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one example of how unjust the
ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust because people who need the
medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban is based on outdated moral biases,
and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug, people who wish to use medicinal
marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s
epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical marijuana can be used. First, the website
ProCon.org states that medical marijuana is useful for sufferers of Alzheimer s Disease, anorexia,
AIDS, cancer, Crohn s Disease, and many others (For Which Symptoms, para. 1, procon.org). Studies
show that drugs, such as cocaine, and alcohol inhibit the growth of new brain cells. However, research
conducted at Scripps Research in San Diego demonstrates that marijuana encourages neural growth.

Essay on Maya
Maya
The ancient Maya were a group of American Indian peoples who lived in southern Mexico,
particularly the present day states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo, and in
Belize, Guatemala, and adjacent Honduras. Their descendants, the modern Maya, live in the same
regions today, in both highlands and lowlands, from cool highland plains ringed by volcanos to deep
tropical rain forests.
Through the region runs a single major river system, the Apasion Usumacinta and its many tributaries,
and only a handful of lesser rivers, the Motagua, Hondo, and Belize among them. The ancestors of the
Maya, like those of other New World peoples, crossed the BERING LAND BRIDGE from Asia more
than 20,000 years ago, during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1960, Tatiana Proskouriakoff showed that the patterns of dates were markers of the important
events in rulers lives. The chronological record turned out to serve history and the perpetuation of the
memory of great nobles. Subsequently, major archaeological discoveries, particularly at PALENQUE
and TIKAL, confirmed much of what the writings said, and examination of Maya art has revealed not
only historical portraiture but also a pantheon of gods, goddesses, and heroes in other words, Maya
religion and mythic history.
HISTORY OF THE ANCIENT MAYA
By 5000 BC, the Maya had settled along Caribbean and Pacific coasts, forming egalitarian fishing
communities. Certainly by 2000 BC the Maya had also moved inland and adopted agriculture for their
subsistence. Maize and beans formed the Maya diet then as today, although many other foodstuffs
squash, tomatoes, peppers, fruits, and game were supplements. The word for maize wa is synonymous
with food itself, and the maize god was honored from early times.
Preclassic Period
During the Early Preclassic (2000 900 BC), civilization began to take shape in parts of
MESOAMERICA. By 1200 BC, the OLMEC of the Gulf Coast had risen to preeminence, dominating
trade routes that extended from the modern Mexican state of Guerrero to Costa Rica, passing through
Maya regions. At COPAN, Honduras, and Cuello, Belize, around 1000 BC, local Maya leaders began
to imitate Olmec styles of pottery and jades and

Vape Essay
51VAPE: THE BEAST IN THE EAST (Revision July 17, 2015) Before Hip Hop became the
phenomenal mainstream success it is today, it was born struggling on the streets of New York.
Pioneers like DJ Kool Herc and Coke La Rock laid down the foundations, and then crews like
Grandmaster Flash the Furious Five, The Sugar Hill Gang, Afrika Bambaataa and Universal Zulu
Nation came along to cement the culture. They organized block parties, had emcee and break dancing
battles, sold mix tapes out of the trunks of their cars. They d hustle anything they could to make it big
on the cold mean streets. You had to be tough, you had to be bold, and you had to risk everything in
order to gain anything. The struggle continues the hustle never stops. Today, the Vaping culture faces
similar challenges that early Hip Hop did in the past. No one knows this more than David Le, the
owner of 51Vape, the first and best Vape Shop in Albany, Upstate New York. I literally started [my
company] with a duffle bag, and my truck, he says recalling his humble beginnings in the industry. ...I
wasn t making much due to gas prices, but I was passionate about vaping and I knew it would be
something special... a movement . It was this passionate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He forged his mentality on the streets. The streets demand that you have to be tough, you have to be
bold, and you have to risk everything in order to gain anything. You have to be a beast. After long
consideration, I took my life savings and my wife s life savings [to] venture out of my comfort zone,
and find a shop, he recalls, ...there were days that I would only see 1 2 customers for months! But I
knew vaping was a completely new thing [here]. I would have to tough it out... and it started to pay
off. From then on, David earned more business, he began to hire employees, and then, he opened a
second shop that was a huge success. Now the sky s the limit to where he can take

Theme Of The Scarlet Ibis
In the short story The Scarlet Ibis, James Hurst uses the setting to have a greater effect on how the
reader feels while reading the text. Hurst uses the setting to describe the lighthearted parts of the text,
such as Doodle learning how to walk and stand, the dark parts of the narrative, such as when Doodle
dies, and also uses setting to bring attention to the emotions felt by the reader and mood of the story.
Hurst uses setting to describe the lighthearted parts of the text in order to affect how the audience feels
while reading the story. Doodle stands up for the first time in Old Woman Swamp, which is a very
happy and carefree place. There, the grass beneath [them] was soft and the smell of the swamp was
sweet. When Doodle finally stands up, there s a sense of relief and happiness that we have for Doodle,
as he has made a major life achievement. He completes this achievement in Old Woman Swamp,
which was a very happy place. Doodle himself calls Old Woman Swamp So pretty, pretty, pretty.
Many flowers can be found in Old Woman Swamp, and Brother describes these flowers as jewels.
Brother also makes note of the way the sunlight touched the tops of the trees, [where] the slanted rays
of the sun [burns] orange in the tops of the pines. This gives Old Woman Swamp a glowing and
heaven like feeling, which translates to the reader, so the reader will feel just as lighthearted and
carefree as Doodle and Brother felt while they were at Old Woman Swamp. These

Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglas And Malcolm X
In almost a century difference in time, Frederick Douglas, an abolitionist of the 19th century, and
Malcolm X, a separatist and civil rights activist of the 20th century cleverly managed to learn how to
read and write utilizing the resources around them. Their circumstances and ignorance did not stifle
their desire to learn to read and write, or obtain the knowledge that would bring forth their positions as
powerful leaders of black communities across the land. Compelling circumstances lead them down a
path that ignited a tremendous passion to seek as much knowledge as one could contain. That
knowledge is utilized to aid in the fight for freedom, civil liberties, and injustices against the people of
color and for themselves. Their acts of protest, resistance, and courage are what made these two men
significant persons to follow. It is without wonder how Frederick Douglas and Malcom X became to
teach and lead many people of color the same information they sought out. It was intuition, personal
thoughts, feelings of injustice, determination, curiosity to learn knowledge of self, and the desire to
fight for what was right that made Douglas and X want to enlightened their people. These two forces
would no longer live in their enslaved, dark, illiterate world. They created a platform that ignited
change and brought direction, enlightenment, and value to their people by any means necessary so,
they too could come out of dark and see the light. The essay written by Douglas

The Cult Of True Womanhood Summary
In The Cult of True Womanhood by: Barbara Walters, she explains how women of the reform era were
expected to submit totally to their husbands and societal pressures to gain a high level of respect while
women that fell short of nearly unattainable standards were publicly ostracized. During this period in
America women were finally being recognized as important members of society, and on a more
personal level men were recognizing that women had emotional qualities that also held value. Women
were seen as more naturally pure and moral in this era. On top of moral obligations the mother of a
family had many worldly responsibilities. Women were expected to serve as nurse to the family, a
sexual and moral companion to the husband, and a spiritual figure within the community. On top of
their worldly duties women were also expected to be dainty, but not high maintenance, and
submissive, but not mindless. The reading of books was encouraged for maintaining a sharp mind, but
not books that were highly educated either, so the Bible became a constant source of knowledge and
moral guidance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From birth until marriage women were taught to retain their virginity because a woman s physical
form was all she truly owned. After a women had given this worldly possession away they had no
leverage and was expected to care of children and maintain the household. Loss of virginity before
marriage or a lack of affection for her children were grave accusations on a woman s moral character.
A woman that enjoyed sex before marriage was seen as disgraced in the eyes of God and the
community. Sensationalized accounts of disgraced women appeared in magazines and stories to
remind future mothers of the importance of keeping their gift. Women had to personify purity and
patience, while functioning as the head of the house, all while being completely overruled by the
wishes of their

The Valuation Implications Of Enterprise Risk Management
The Valuation Implications of Enterprise Risk Management Maturity by Mark Farrell and Ronan
Gallagher seeks to prove that firms who integrate the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process
tend to enhance their value by recognizing risk. This article states that enterprises will be subject to
many risks and that the goal of ERM is to model, measure, analyze, and respond to these risks in a
holistic manner (p. 625). As defined by the Casualty Actuarial Society (2003) ERM is the discipline
by which an organization in any industry assesses, controls, exploits, finances and monitors risks from
all sources for the purpose of increasing the organization s short and long term value to its
stakeholders . The value of a firm was found by analyzing the ERM maturity assessment score by
using the Risk and Insurance Management Society Risk Maturity Model (RIMS RMM), which is
commonly known and esteemed. This was done to provide evidence that companies who incorporate
the ERM process tend to add value to their company. This is important because as the article states,
the premise of ERM has only been in existence for just over 10 years, and therefore research is
extremely limited in regards to how to measure the full effect of ERM on a firm. This article seeks to
discuss the value of ERM and how it has evolved, the data and model used to confirm the value of
ERM, and then it concludes with the observed results. Summary Lead article This study seeks to build
on the fact that there is

  • 2. Essay All About Mussels Mussels are a type of shellfish called bivalves. Bivalves are molluscs that are enclosed by a shell in two hinged parts. They include clams, oysters, and scallops. Mussels grow in colonies that attach themselves to rocks, pilings, or other hard surfaces with their beards . However, most commercial cultivated mussels are grown on hanging ropes. There are many types of mussels; and that they are very nutritious as well as they can be cooked in many different ways. Also they are enjoyed around the world. Even though there are many types of mussels available in markets, they can all be used interchangeably. The three main types of mussels are Mediterranean, Blue, and Green lip. Mediterranean mussels are known for their wide shells and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, not only are mussels delicious to eat, they are easy to cook and can be cooked in a variety of ways such as steaming, roasting, grilling, boiling, smoking, and deep frying. However, the easiest way to cook these delicious molluscs is steaming. This method requires the steam created from the cooking liquid to cook the mussels. The cooking liquid can be clam juice, salty water, wine, or even beer. For this method, the cooking liquid is combined with herbs such as rosemary or sage and softened shallots (cooking them in butter or oil for few minutes). The mussels are placed into the saucepan after they are washed and given a good scrub. However, mussels that are opened when tapped on a counter or chipped or cracked must be discarded. Then the saucepan is placed on high heat for a few minutes. Mussels are finished cooking when most of the shells are opened, about 5 minutes. However, there may be some that stay closed after cooking. These, just like the broken shell mussels, must be discarded. Moreover, mussels are great for grilling. Just heat grill to hot and place the whole mussels on the grill. When the mussels start to open, they are done and ready to eat. Just finish them with a sprinkle of ground black pepper. If mussels are cooked this way, they are surely going to be devoured before they are able to reach the dinner table. Mussels can also be pan roasted. Place the mussels in a hot pan ... • 3. Endosymbiosis and evolution of Organelles Essay Endosymbiosis is important as it enables us to understand the evolution of eukaryotes from the common ancestor. This essay will focus on: the early evolution of our eukaryote ancestor during Precambrian period, plastids origin along the algae family due to second endosymbiosis; discuss the evidence that supports the theory, including further examples of endosymbiosis. The theory, as discussed by Lynn Margulis, states that mitochondria originated from α proteobacteria bacterium which was engulfed by the ancestral anaerobic eukaryotic cell, through endocytosis, and retained within the cytoplasm due to atmospheric oxygen increase. Prokaryote organism produced ATP, through oxidative phosphorylation, by receiving organic compounds from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They all have a double membrane chloroplasts, but the glaucophytes plastid morphology is unusual because it resembles cyanobacteria, as they still include the outer peptidoglycan layer between the chloroplast envelopes, and also resemble Chlorophyta and Rhodophyta plastid. Both Rhodophyta and Glaucophyta consist of various features that are derived from the cyanobacteria but absent from Chlorophyta. These are phycobilins pigments and phycobilisomes on the surface on thylakoid membranes. Because of sequencing algae chloroplast genomes it is evident that glaucophytes, rhodophytes and chlorophytes have evolved from a second endosymbiotic event, since they are closely related to the ancestral cyanobacteria (Tomitani, 2006). Alternatively, some algal groups have chloroplast with more than a double membrane, such as photosynthetic dinoflagellates and stramenophile, implying that secondary endosymbiosis occurred due to heterotrophic eukaryote engulfing chloroplast containing eukaryote. The secondary endosymbiosis event is suggested as nucleomorphs , traces of primary host s nucleus, are present in the periplastid space between the second and third chloroplast membranes of cryptomonads and chlorarachniophytes. In the cryptomonads the nucleomorphs is formed due to the reduction of red algal nucleus and in the chlorarachniophytes due to the reduction of green algal nucleus. Thus, plants had multiple endosymbiotic events and each evolved independently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era Essay Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era To be able to appraise the originality of eighteenth century English art, one must recognize its importance in history. A great painter to research is Thomas Gainsborough. His artwork was an important aspect of the art community of the middle seventeen hundreds. His paintings seem to bring brightness and color to a period in art that needed his creative boost. His combination of portrait paintings along with beautiful landscapes was not recognized in his time, but would be recognized as remarkable later in history. Thomas Gainsborough was born in 1727 in the town of Sudbury in Suffolk (Internet 1). He grew up as the son of a woodworking father and his mother was a teacher. He had 7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This did not interest Gainsborough; he enjoyed being able to paint subjects outdoors (Internet 4). He was fond of drawing trees grass and other objects that would not be found in an indoor studio. He was not the first to draw backgrounds in his paintings; many have done this before him. His task was to paint a background that was just as important as the subjects do but not distract either. By painting outdoors, his paintings became much more colorful that most paintings of the past (Woodall 32). Brighter paintings were much improvement over the paintings of the past. They were very eye appealing and much more noticeable. Gainsborough s untrained painter s eye did not effect the outcome of his paintings; he was painting from his heart. He painted whatever his eyes saw; in most cases the outcome of his paintings were a perfect mix of background and foreground. People began to start noticing his artwork even though he did not have a degree or formal education in art; this was very promising to the young painter. His work slowly moved up into the great artwork of the city. His name was becoming known all around. He can begin his career with the bright colors he added to the scenery of the painting. One superb example of where the colors and scenery effected a painting is in the painting Mr. and Mrs. Andrews. In my first examination of the painting, many questions were brought up. One question ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Project Quality Management Chapter 8 Discussion Questions... Project Quality Management CHAPTER 8 DISCUSSION QUESTIONS Q1. Discuss some of the examples of poor quality in information technology projects presented in the What Went Wrong? section. Could most of these problems have been avoided? Why do you think there are so many examples of poor quality in information technology projects? Answer: Many of these problems could be avoided by performing better quality management. One problem is that software and hardware is hitting the market too fast, so people selling these might be more concerned about money than safety or wellbeing of the consumers or the company in the long term. Q2.What are the main processes included in planning project quality management? Answer: The project quality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Describe typical benchmarks associated with a college or university. • 6. Dystopian Society Many novels, as well as video games, deal with texts of the dystopic genre. Dystopia has become an instrumental form of literature in all countries; however, some texts are better at relaying their message than others. For example, in the video game, The Last of Us, the two protagonists, one adult male and one young girl, fight through hordes of the infected . They do so in order to save mankind from utter extinction. Despite being a video game, this text captures the quintessential elements needed in order to become a relatable piece of work and does so by making both Joel and Ellie (the protagonists) truthful characters. In addition to The Last of Us, the novel The Running Man, by Steven King, also deals with the topic of dystopia. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He soon approaches what looks like an injured man; however, the man was not injured and attempts to kill Joel and Ellie to steal his truck. This is a prime example of the modified human nature present in dystopian societies. In an attempt to preserve what human kindness Joel has left , he ends up in a situation much like that of Richards in The Running Man, creating a similarity in the two story arcs. The use of cliché as a rhetoric device is present in both Richards, and Joel and Eli s lives, and serves as one of the reasons why both story arcs hold the attention of the player/reader. However, The Last of Us serves as a much more relatable situation for the player than that of the reader of Stephen King s famous novel, due to the realism and player emersion that the game provides. The Last of Us puts the dystopian society into the hands of anyone that can hold a controller, yet still provides a meaningful plot with character development to bout. The length of the game in itself is an effective way to persuade the player of its meaning, and the dangers of a potential future. For the average player, it can take anywhere from 15 to 30 hours of playing time to complete the storyline for The Last of Us, constantly driving home the nature of the dystopian society. The fact that The Last of Us is a video game too makes it much more accessible and appealing to the younger generations. While Stephen King is a legendary author in his own right, it can be intimidating for someone to read one of his novels. Along with this comes the general growth of technology, and the fact that paperbacks are soon becoming irrelevant. The dramatic increase in technology makes a video game much more likely to get selected over a novel for leisure, regardless of the topic that each chooses to address. This is what makes The Last of Us a more realistic option for the spreading awareness of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. How Is Mrs Mallard Weak So many people go through life just like Mrs. Mallard does for most of her life, scared and dependent on someone else. It is the safe way to live. Most people are happy with that until they experience true freedom. While the events that Mrs. Mallard goes through are sad from a normal point of view, to her, they are enlightening. While so many people go through there life without ever really understanding true freedom, Mrs. Mallard does, if only for a short time, and the emotional states that she goes through to understand this is very interesting. While she knows that her husband was not a bad man and that she knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind tender hands folded in death , she also knows that she will be glad to get out of his controlling grasp. She breaks the restraints that her husband put on her as she comprehends that she can live for herself instead of living the life that her husband wants her to (ebscohost). While it was through terrible circumstances, she has finally freed herself from having to do whatever her husband deems appropriate. It was this revelation that finally killed her at the end of the story. Realizing that she had finally gained that true freedom from her husband and having that freedom taken away from her, along with the fact that she still loved her husband but was at peace with his death, was too much to bear, and the pain of it ended up killing ... • 8. Re Expansion Of Ebay Into China The re expansion of eBay into China seems to be a viable probability and a part of the companies plan for the near future. In 2002, eBay established a presence in china with the acquisition of leading auction site Eachnet to form eBay Eachnet. Up until 2005 eBay Eachnet was the leader of the ecommerce market due to their C2C platform. However, with the emergence of Alibaba owned subsidiary Taobao.com (Taobao), eBay Eachnet soon lost its stronghold on the market. This factor combined with a rigid Chinese ecommerce market drove eBay to withdraw business dealings in the country in 2006. Yet, the goal of a successful longstanding ecommerce venture has never been far from the companies plan. In 2013 the ecommerce giant announced plans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As interest in eBay and conducting business on the site began to grow eBay started applying a nominal fee for listing items on the site, and a percentage of proceeds after sales had concluded. Application of nominal fees on each transaction enabled Omidyar to garner revenue from his venture. In 1996 Omidyar appointed Jeff Skoll as president of eBay. Skoll s first order of business as president of eBay was to grow the customer support team for e bays market place and in 1997. This entailed appointing people to eBay s customer service department to settle disputes, attract new customers and keep current customers happy. By September of 1997 the company officially changed its name to the now well known moniker eBay Inc. It was in this same year that eBay was receiving one million page hits per week and at minimum 15,000 item listings per day. eBay, thereby had become one of the most visited sites on the web. With the company growing at an exponential rate Skoll and Omidyar knew that they needed to garner venture capital. So, in 1997, Omidyar and Skoll approached the U.S venture capital firm Benchmark. They were able to broker a deal and Benchmark endowed eBay with $ 5 million with the stipulation that Benchmark be given a 22 percent stake in the company. • 9. The Theme Of Mary Lennox s The Secret Garden Keys can be a dangerous thing to have in possession. They can unlock doors that may remind people of darker times, or they could open the way to opportunity. Everything in the world has a key , both literally and figuratively. As Mary Lennox said, I found the key! It s like magic! But not only did she find the key to the secret garden, she found the key to end her feelings of abandonment, loss, and neglect. The theme of The Secret Garden is isolation and abandonment. Even before Mary Lennox even arrives at her new home, she finds herself resenting it. But what else could she do? The young girl had never experienced love or excitement. Medlock, trying to pass time, asks her if she has a favorite story. With her arms folded across her chest, and her face scrunched to show wrinkles, Mary retorts to the Medlock, My mother didn t have the time to tell me stories. The Medlock, she is surprised, but simply shakes her head and remains silent for the rest of the journey. Mary had come from India, where she lived with her neglectful parents. Mary is so emotionally damaged that she said I was angry. I never cried. I didn t know how to cry. When her parents died, rumors spread that she did not show remorse. At the manor, Mary quickly gives herself the reputation of being a spoiled girl, as shown when she commanded Martha to dress her, and then called her unitellegent when Martha was trying to make a joke about Mary s wardrobe colors, which happened to be black. Mary is upset, but Martha ends up introducing her to Dickon, who becomes her first friend. Mary goes outside and finds a garden, and an old man. • 10. Winter Solstice Short Story Winter Solstice was a very special time in Stormholt, with Kenna and Val s friends visiting them every year for a grand celebration. It was cold and windy that night, and even though Kenna and Val were having fun, they were also feeling restless. Damn it Kenna, this dress is so itchy! I hate having to be so formal. I know Val, but at least I let you do your hair the way you like. With an amorous look, Kenna eyed Val up and down. You re not wearing anything underneath that dress are you, Val? Grinning at Kenna, Val nodded, You know me too well. But I m pretty sure it s not just me. I guess you ll have to find out later. As Val observed the way Kenna s hair flowed in the wind, she had a hard time concentrating on anything else. ... and that s how I invented plumbing. I... Val! Are you even listening? What? Oh yeah, very funny, Whitlock. Val! It s not supposed to be funny, it s supposed to be interesting! Ok, then it s really interesting, Val said with her eyes locked on Kenna, not fully aware of what she was even saying. Ugh, I don t know why I try with you, maybe Lia will be more considerate. With that, Whitlock walked off, leaving Val alone with her wife. Kenna, this shouldn t be possible, but when you re bathed in moonlight, you re even more beautiful. Placing her hand on Val s thigh, Kenna smiled and gave her a kiss. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you, my gorgeous wife. The Catcher in the Rye is a book based on the life of a teenage boy who is a very troubled individual. Holden refuses to grow up, and he struggles with the thought of losing his innocence. The way he chooses to deal with this is very strange. Holden is a very immature boy. He got kicked out of the high school he was attending. Since he got kicked out, he is now scared to go home and have his parents find out. He is also very immature in the way he lies about anything and everything he can. • 12. Individualism and Collectivism in Fountainhead by Ayn Rand Never ask people, not about your work. In a world where individuality is Poisoned by the ends of society, Howard Roark displays a faint glimmer of hope, whereas Lois cook epitomizes collectivism. Roark s demeanor, personality, ideals, and perseverance all pin him as a shining example of individualism. Roark clashes with the concept of conformity, a widespread phenomenon in contemporary American society, which is one of the underlying causes of collectivist dictatorship. Lois Cook is a writer of nonsense who exercises nonconformity and is under the control of Toohey. However, her pursuit of nonconformity, often thought to be the opposite of blind obedience, is merely a variation on the same theme. In Fountainhead, Ayn Rand explores the theme of individualism versus collectivism, not only in politics but in mans soul; the psychological motivations and the basic premises that produce the character of an individualist or a collectivist. Howard Roark is an adamant architect, who believes that one s wholeness is always reflected in one s work. Roark practices architecture with a modern style, and throughout the novel, he is opposed by people who blindly believe in tradition, in the architectural styles of the past. But he displays diligence and integrity in his choosing to not let laws dictate a single detail. His buildings were not Classical, Gothic, nor Renaissance. They were only Howard Roark. He was the one who invented Genes! (Or What we call nowadays Jeans.) Here is some back information about Levi Strauss life. He was born February 26, 1829, in the city of Buttenheim, Germany. He has six siblings and he was the youngest. Growing up in Germany for him was hard because he was Jewish. When Levi was sixteen, his father passed away from a disease. This was the time where he moved to America. After a few years, the Gold Rush came into play. He decided that it would be good opportunity to make a business. In a matter of time, Strauss was working so hard for everyone to get at least one pair. Soon he edited his pants once again and started to use blue denim (Which are pronounced Genes in French but in English it is Jeans ) for his pants. • 14. English Tort Law And The Public Sector English Tort Law and the Importance of Duty of Care in the Public Sector (Based on the Kent v Griffith Case from the year 2000) Tort Law is concerned with accidental injuries and deals with the distribution of losses occurred during those injuries. Every country has its own statutory law , thus according to these laws acts in its own way in different situations. Public health and ambulance services are of great importance when it comes to preventing injuries and damages. In the UK, before the 2000s, ambulances were not obliged (by common law) to provide emergency service, but were rather considered an ordinary health care provider. Therefore, in a lot of cases it would be difficult to put the liability on the defendant, which automatically leads to a higher number of injuries and damages. In the case Kent v Griffith an important outcome and rule is created, which creates the hope of decreasing damages significantly in the future. I will argue that the duty of care in the health care system (especially ambulances) should be treated with greater attention, as it can lessen enormous damages caused by delayed service and unreasoned explanations. Furthermore, I will try and prove that, due to negligence, the damages created by delayed services, thus lack of duty of care in the public sector, are far exceeding precaution costs; Moreover, they harm the economy and social well being as well. Duty of care can be viewed as a control device used for determining when the defendant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Radiation Exposure And Its Effects On The Earth Dai 5 gradually travels away from the Earth. A chronic radiation exposure is the most accurate term to describe the level of radiation astronauts have to undergo in the flight to Europa. The spacecraft obviously does not naturally have a strong magnetic field constantly being generated by a liquid iron core that the Earth has to shield off most of the harmful radiation. An average normal radiation dose given to a person on Earth in one day is approximately 10 microsieverts. As indicated by the instrument on the Mars rover during its cruise days in the space, astronauts would receive a radiation does about 0.66 sievert in a short trip such as the round trip between the Earth and Mars. To put this in a more quantitative perspective, the amount of radiation being received by the astronauts is equal to the amount from CT scans on a nearly weekly basis. Since the distance from the Earth to Europa is much greater than the distance from the Earth to Mars, such a chronic radiation exposure is really a serious hazard to the astronauts. (Karl Tate, 2013) The good news is that with nuclear technology in the twenty second century, nuclear reactors along with the nuclear propulsion device can provide long lasting energy to sustain an artificial magnetic field around the spacecraft to shield off the radiation. This is also another reason why the spacecraft implements an integration of solar sails and nuclear propulsion: the nuclear reactor can generate enough power to sustain the ... • 20. Poets Present Difficult Relationships in The Farmer’s... Charlotte Mew explores the theme of lack of intimacy during the course of her poem, The Farmers Bride. Various techniques are used to represent the stilted relationship the speaker and his maid succumb to. Likewise, The Manhunt, written by Simon Armitage uses various metaphors and semantic fields of war and anguish to illustrate the speaker s yearning to feel the hurt her partner is experiencing and take the pain away. Although, the ambiguous ending doesn t satisfy this. The six stanzas in The Farmer s Bride are of various lengths, with the meter per line varying. Mew uses this as a representation of the in balance in the relationship of the farmer and his bride. During the last stanza the farmer is presented to feel sympathetic for his bride and possibly regretful for the animalistic manner he treated her throughout as she sleeps up in the attic there alone, poor maid Tis but a stair betwixt us. This is structured in a stair way format, possibly implying the farmer s now determination to work on his currently failed relationship. Relating this to the stairs which distances them, is highlighting that they are on different levels from each other, but, despite this he is willing to try. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using brand ambassadors. For standard full field of view for CBCT, polychromatic X rays are generated from a source tube excited by 100 120 kV tube potential with 1.5 10 mA current (89). The emitted X ray photon energy is absorbed by materials located be¬tween the X ray source and detector. They were also coming because of the effect of the embargo. People began migrating from Cuba after a man named Fidel Castro overthrew the previous dictator of Cuba in 1959. Fidel Castro promised democratic policies but soon after taking control he began making the government totalitarian and everyone who opposed him was imprisoned. Castro became even more totalitarian and communist because he wanted complete control of Cuba. Because of this relations between Cuba and the United States worsened. At one point Castro nationalized American businesses without compensation. After this a complete embargo was put into effect. The embargo caused there to be more poverty in Cuba. Cuba became more allied with the soviets. The embargo caused many Cuban citizens to flee Cuba ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Sacrifice in Life of Pi, Pi by Yann Martel Essays Happiness is a key to everybodys life. Even the most depressed man on earth has a little happiness deep down inside. Its what keeps us striving to fulfil our needs and wants on an everyday basis. There is not one kid who does not get excited over a dollar to spend at the candy shop. What about the feeling of getting a promotion at your job, or even finding the cure for cancer. Being happy is not just healthy, but it is also rewarding for each and every individual. We strive to find anything that will turn a bad day to a good one. Individuals will compromise to attain their happiness. You can not get what you want without giving something first. When the big storm appeared this meant that all Pi had left to do was pray and sacrifice to the gods for the storm to stop. Pi gave up all of his mental state to stay alive, and in return was granted happiness. Richard Parker has now accepted Pi, and Pi has accepted Richard Parker. There is no more worrying for Pi other than to find some land, he is now happy after such a little event. Any one can find happiness depending on what happy means to them. If doing a backflip into a pool makes you happy, then you will end up risking anything to get that last backflip in before the summer ends. Happiness is like a rush of adrenaline, once you feel it once there is no stopping you from wanting it back again. If you are ever bored, try doing something that makes you happy and I bet you the time will end up flying by. Pi had a few main goals while on his trip. To train Richard Parker, to survive, and to get the hell off of the boat and get home. All of these goals Pi made compromises for each one. The motivation to reach these goals gave Pi many activities to do while living on the bare minimum. By not wanting to feel like there is no hope for his survival, Pi strived to become happy because you will live longer with a smile and not with a grin. Consequently, young people have continued to experience the aftermath of drinking too much alcohol at the tender age. As a result, most of the countries categorize underage drinking as the leafing problem in public health. Teenagers always find a way to avoid being noticed by their parents. Even though it is their choice, most initially know what they are doing is wrong, but do it anyways. The social choice theory is vital when examining why young people make the decision to drink beer on Fridays when their parents are away. • 34. Similarities And Differences Between Football And Soccer Arguments about football and soccer have been ongoing since both sports gained popularity over a hundred years ago, which leads us to the controversies commonly seen today. To begin with, the question over the name of the sports has been viewed as a major issue since football and soccer became widely known. I experienced this issue first hand when I traveled to Germany and Sweden last summer for a soccer tournament and instantly noticed the difference from the moment I arrived. All of the signs and the people called soccer football and it came as a complete surprise to me, but their passion for the game remained just as strong or even stronger than seen in North America. In order to score, the team with the ball must cross the end zone without having an illegal play, otherwise known as a flag. The team is awarded 6 points and the kicker must either kick a Point After Touchdown (PAT) for an additional point or the team can attempt to score two points by attempting to again cross the end zone, but this time starting from the two yard line. The rules of soccer, however, completely differ from those of American football. Like football there are 11 players on the field with specific positions, but the object of soccer is for a player to get the ball into the other team s goal by using any part of the body except the player s hands and arms. The goalie is the only player allowed to touch the ball with the hands and arms and then only while he is located in his own penalty area (upperdublinsoccerclub.org). If any of these rules are broken by the players, the referee gives the player either a yellow card as a warning or a red card for an automatic ejection from the game. So, as you can see, whereas football primarily utilizes your hands, soccer leverages everything but your hands. In addition to this, all soccer players are required to wear shin guards and soccer cleats, but if it is organized soccer, a team jersey, team shorts, and long socks are also required. In football, however, the players are required to wear much more: football cleats, shoulder pads, thigh pads, knee pads, hip pads, mouthguard, jockstrap, cup, neck ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Decades earlier, right after the Second World War, a movement was created to unite the countries of Germany and France. The EU has, for some time, been a major player in world politics and with twenty eight member states the EU has had its fair share of complications throughout the years. Foreign policy began to take place early on as the EU was seen as a political system that was making decisions on behalf 28 countries. In the 1970s Henry Kissinger, the United States Secretary of State for President Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford, brought up the question of If I want to call Europe, who do I call? This began a long and stressful debate of who is the official that needs to be called when other foreign actors and institutions want to address a problem or simply ask a question to the European Union. After many years European leaders claimed to have answered Henry Kissinger s question by creating the European Council President and a European Foreign Minister position. But is it as simple as that? Has this question really been resolved by just creating these positions? Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by the time she was two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her parents were able to get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication immediately stopped the seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one example of how unjust the ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust because people who need the medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban is based on outdated moral biases, and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug, people who wish to use medicinal marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical marijuana can be used. First, the website ProCon.org states that medical marijuana is useful for sufferers of Alzheimer s Disease, anorexia, AIDS, cancer, Crohn s Disease, and many others (For Which Symptoms, para. 1, procon.org). During this period in America women were finally being recognized as important members of society, and on a more personal level men were recognizing that women had emotional qualities that also held value. Women were seen as more naturally pure and moral in this era. On top of moral obligations the mother of a family had many worldly responsibilities. Women were expected to serve as nurse to the family, a sexual and moral companion to the husband, and a spiritual figure within the community. On top of their worldly duties women were also expected to be dainty, but not high maintenance, and submissive, but not mindless. As defined by the Casualty Actuarial Society (2003) ERM is the discipline by which an organization in any industry assesses, controls, exploits, finances and monitors risks from all sources for the purpose of increasing the organization s short and long term value to its stakeholders . The value of a firm was found by analyzing the ERM maturity assessment score by using the Risk and Insurance Management Society Risk Maturity Model (RIMS RMM), which is commonly known and esteemed. This was done to provide evidence that companies who incorporate the ERM process tend to add value to their company. This is important because as the article states, the premise of ERM has only been in existence for just over 10 years, and therefore research is extremely limited in regards to how to measure the full effect of ERM on a firm.
