Themes In Animal Farm And George Orwell s Montgomery Boycott
Have you ever broken a rule before? Did you have a reason for it and what was the consequence?
For many of us, this question is very easy to answer. You had a clear reason and the consequence
were semi bad. People may say otherwise, but breaking the rule is right during certain circumstance.
Authors develop the idea of breaking rules by their characters and setting.
In the book Animal farm and the short story Montgomery Boycott, the author gives different
reasons why their characters broke the rule, whether they re good or bad. One of the ways
author can develop ideas is thru conflict and relationships. In most stories, using conflict spices
up the story. Readers don t want a normal boring school day, but a weird one with twist and
turns! Conflicts add emotion and drama, making the ideas more alive and realistic to the reader.
Like conflict, relationships do the same to a story. Every story has a relationship, whether to other
people, nature, society, or even to themselves. These create dynamic characters whose ideas are
more likely to pop out and influence yours ideas. These two methods of bringing forth an idea is
how Coretta Scott King and George Orwell developed their idea of tyranny and breaking unfair
rules. In the book Animal Farm, George Orwell uses time in order to develop his ideas about how
the Russian revolution went. George sprinkles the idea of tyranny down slowly in order to create
characters that keep on breaking their own rules. At first the story starts

Bilingual Ed Essays
Bilingual Ed BILINGUAL EDUCATION IS BENEFICIAL TO STUDENTS ABILITIES TO
ASSIMILATE IN THE MAINSTREAM CULTURE
English only sink or swim? Yeah right! Instead of English Only Advocates worrying about
bilingual education cost in our school system, why not take advantage of the skills our ethnic
minorities possess to move our economy forward? They are obviously not thinking clearly, because
the benefit of bilinguals, significantly outweigh the bad. To deny our youth the opportunity for
upward mobility and skill to become more marketable in a worldwide capacity is inhumane. They
believe bilinguals threaten to sap our sense of national identity and divide us along ethnic lines.
They also fear that any government recognition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They should encourage and support students to the attainment of bilingual or multilingual skills.
They should also consider that students coming from homes where two or more languages are used
will face difficulty in applying while in the school environment. The fact that so few Americans
command any other language than English is largely a result of educational failure and cultural
inadequacies. The American economy will benefit from bilingual education because historically
multilingual personnel are smarter, academic skills are sharper, and their contributions to society
are immeasurable. English is the one language that offers the biggest market, the largest pool of
talent, and the greatest probability of being able to communicate with anyone on the planet.
Bilingual education is a tool for better education that children whose primary language is not
English learn more easily. Industry and Information Technology dance to English lyrics. Students
will have no future in the Information Technology field if they cannot command English as an
effective medium of communication. Г¬Furthermore, good bilingual programs are about more than
learning a language. They should be based on a respect for diversity and multiculturalism, and
parents and community must be essential partners.Г® (Rethinking schools Vol 1. 13, #2.). Over

What program related courses have you taken? And when did you take them?
In 7th grade, I took Algebra 1 for math class. In 8th grade, I took Geometry for math class and
Introduction to Engineering and Design for technology class. Currently in 9th grade, I am taking
Algebra 2 for math class, Digital Electronics for technology class and Biology for the science class.
What type of academic extracurricular activities/groups are you involved in? I really like
science, math, and technology, and I try to learn as much as I can when I have free time. After
school, I participate in clubs to enhance my skills. One extracurricular activity I do is Science
Olympiad, a club that works to prepare for a Science competition against other regional schools
on different types of science related topics. This club is a really good way to strengthen my
knowledge in STEM related topics. Another extracurricular activity I engage in is Science Bowl,
another club that prepares for a science competition in March. By participating in this club, I can
improve my speed in answering science related subjects. I really enjoy being part of these fun and

Purpose: The sysnthesis of t Pentyl Chloride from alcohol.
Procedure:
Preparation of t Pentyl Chloride. In a 125 mL separatory funnel, place 10.0 mL of t pentyl alcohol
(2 methyl 2 butanol, MW _ 88.2, d _ 0.805 g/mL) and 25 mL of concentrated hydrochloric acid (d _
1.18 g/mL). Do not stopper the funnel. Gently swirl the mixture in the separatory funnel for about 1
minute. After this period of swirling, stopper the separatory funnel and carefully invert it. Without
shaking the separatory funnel, immediately open the stopcock to release the pressure. Close the
stopcock, shake the funnel several times, and again release the pressure through the stopcock (see

Wash (swirl and shake) the organic layer with one 10 mL portion of water and again drain the
lower aqueous layer. Transfer the organic layer to a small, dry Erlenmeyer flask by pouring it
from the top of the separatory funnel. Dry the crude t pentyl chloride over 1.01 g of anhydrous
calcium chloride until it is clear (see Technique 12, Section 12.9). Swirl the alkyl halide with the
drying agent to aid the drying.
Distillation. Transfer the clear liquid to a dry 25 mL round bottom flask using a Pasteur pipet.
Add a boiling stone and distill the crude t pentyl chloride in a dry apparatus. Collect the pure t
pentyl chloride in a receiver cooled in ice. Collect the material that boils between 78В°C and
84В°C. Weigh the product and calculate the percentage yield.

Discussion
First thing we did in this lab was to add HCl to the t pentyl alcohol. We did this because by
adding the HCl, we are creating what we wanted, t pentyl chloride. Then, due to the difference in
density, layers will form. The top layer and less dense is the organic layer, the t pentyl chloride
and the bottom layer is the aqueous layer. The purpose of shaking vigourously is to make sure
that the 2 liquids mix properly, giving us the desired product t pentyl chloride. Then we wash the
organic layer with water. T pentyl chloride is insoluble in water, so it wont be

Jonathan Alder Cross Country Case Study
The Jonathan Alder Cross Country team is half way into their team taper and already saw
success from the weekly drop in mileage. The team dropped 25% of their weekly mileage this
past week and are heading into the postseason running only 50% of their usual mileage. The taper
is used to feel fresh come raceday and let your training do the rest. This past Saturday, at the MOAC
Championships, the team witnessed some of its best results of the season in their final year in the
conference.
Right out of the gate in the high school boys race, everybody knew Junior Zach Kreft from
Buckeye Valley would run away with the victory but the 2nd overall finisher was still a question.
Freshman Luke Malone and Gavin Frick worked off each other the entire race moving from as
far as 17th and 18th place early on to finishing 2nd and 4th. The two were able to run a 5:17 and
10:52 for their mile splits. At the end, Malone was just able to beat out Frick and Sophomore
Adam Brown from North Union to race into 2nd place racing to a PR of 16:58. Frick was able to

Gaius Julius Caesar Analysis
The Things Which are Caesar s
Gaius Julius Caesar was a military commander, a Roman consul, and Dictator of Ancient Rome.
His military victories, cult of personality, and influence on Roman life brought him respect in
Rome. Cicero, an orator of the era, confirmed Cesar s accounts of his role during the civil war. In
representing his own role in the Roman Civil War, Julius Caesarsketches a picture of his influence
on his contemporaries that rings true when compared to Cicero s documentation of the same
period. Though Caesar praises himself while Cicero scorns him, a consistent picture of Caesar s
influence emerges from a close reading of the two authors: he instilled fear in the hearts of Roman
Senators and inspired loyalty in Roman Citizens.
In Caesar s account in The Civil War, he presents the Roman Senators persecuting him as
unreasonable and himself as justified, a contrast to Cicero s personal criticisms of the commander.
Caesar states that the Senate is punishing him for his moderate demands (pg. 37). Caesar accounts
that the Roman Senate refuses to dismantle Pompey s army, in addition, he states that the Roman
Senate is using unnecessary measures against him, as he recounts, ...harsh measures were
advocated; and the more savage and vindictive the speaker, the more he was applauded by Caesar
s enemies (pg.36 40). This account paints Caesar s opponents as harboring a vendetta which will
result in destruction for Rome. Caesar portrays the Senate s persecution

Rhetorical Analysis Of Dodge Ram Trucks
Dodge Ram Trucks, a division of the Chrysler Group created in 2009, focused on the public needs
with the pickup truck. In a male dominated truck industry, approximately 11% of pickup trucks in
the United States are registered to females. With such a small number of percentage of women
truck owners, Ram debuted a television advertisement. In 2015, during the 141st Kentucky Derby
to appeal to female buyers. By doing so, they inspired women to break the stereotypes, specifically
the male dominated truckindustry. Through its carefully incorporated narration, Ram appeals to the
courage of women through aural and visual techniques and utilizes specific examples of females,
who overcame obstacles in their profession, to provide further inspiration and create a valuable
rhetorical commercial.
Ram s advertisement immediately begins by utilizing logos and pathos to embolden women to fight
against stereotypes. First, the commercial s narration uses a series of repetitive rhetorical questions
to inspire the audacious emotions of the audience. Ram repeats have you ever thought multiple
times to capture the female viewer s attention. This technique establishes an understanding and
inviting tone that prepares the viewer for Ram s overarching message. Next, allowing the viewer to
ponder these rhetorical questions, Ram briefly pauses the narration. Following this pause, Ram
articulates their message: You can break a stereotype and throw it into a whole nother gear. Because

President Woodrow Wilson s Decision To Go To War Against...
The United States Senate voted eighty two to six to go to war against Germany. World War I
started in 1914. President Woodrow Wilson was a fan of French and English history, but he still
signed a pledge, that stated America s neutrality. American corporations were already selling
military weapons to both sides of the war. Sadly, President Wilson did not take action against this.
At this point in time, America and Great Britain were the best of trading partners. Germany was not
happy with his arrangement. Germany quickly surrounded Great Britain. Germany sunk and shot
down many of America s ships. On January 8th,1917 Germany had announced that they had sunk
the ship named William P. Frye. The ship was on its way to Great Britain carrying

The Prisoner s Fight, Patriotism, And Duty
Do the terms honor, patriotism, and duty defines a soldier s hardships and struggles that he
encounters during times of war? Defiant, recreates the experiences of eleven men captured during
the Vietnam War and sent to the various camps like Hao Lo in North Vietnam. While there the
American prisoners commitment to their honor, patriotism, and duty would be put to the test
through the harsh living conditions and torture inflicted upon them both physically and mentally.
Townley s use of William Henley s poem Invictus accurately describes the prisoner s fight to
preserve the values as a soldier and to their country. Throughout their time as prisoners, arguably
these values of honor, patriotism, and duty were adapted and changed to help the POWs cope with
their situation. The evolution of these values provided the POWs with hope, resistance, and the will
to survive their North Vietnamese captors to return home. Duty defined the POWs experience
during their time in North Vietnamas they tried to obey the moral promises to their military and
country. In the beginning, many prisoners attempted to abide by the Code of Conduct they were
taught. Jerry Denton encouraged his fellow POWs to stand with the code, their duty, and not
divulge any information other than their branch, name, birthday, or record number. As their
imprisonment continued their attitudes towards their duty and the code evolved. Knowing that
they would submit to torture, their ideas of duty developed as they

Analysis Of Fantasy Sports
Before we determine if fantasy sports are luck or skills based let s analyze the set up. First, you
deposit a minimum of $25 and play contests. Before you make your draft of an eight player team
you will be given a $60,000 salary cap. This will restrict you from picking eight of the highest
players like Russell Westbrook and James harden who cost upwards of $12,000 each, living you
with playersthat have average cost of $4000 each. A playerlike James Harden usually consistently
drops 60 fantasy points a night while a player that costs $3000 will not even playand a player that
costs $5,000 averages about 20 fantasy points but will give you 30 and 10 the next night, thus not
dependable. In addition, all of this information is available once... Show more content on

The other ways draftkings has leveled the playing field is by offering different competitions. For
example, the top players usually play the contest with the biggest rewards. This contests are
usually a $3 entry where the winner takes home half a million dollars and the second place
person gets like 250k, 3rd gets like 100k and so on. The prizes are top heavy meaning only like
20% of the contestants win. In addition, this contest allow multiple entries so the winner could be
first though fifteen with the same lineup. On average while playing cash games you usually expect
to double your entry with a decent lineup. Cash games that hand out millions of dollars are more
luck than skill because you re competing against thousands of people but there is more to draftkings
than cash

The PFLP is Fatah s primary rival within the PLO and claims to offer a fundamentally different
ideological and organizational approach in achieving Palestinian goals. Founded in late 1967, the
PFLP has its roots in the Arab Nationalist Movement (ANM) and in the political styles of its own
principle founders, George Habash and Wadi Haddad both from Greek Orthodox Christian
backgrounds. The Arab Nationalist Movement particularly attracted to Christians, who saw a
secular ideology based on Arab unity as a way to equalize their status in a predominately Muslim

The Narrative Logic In Silent Comedy
But there is a common point exists in both their works: the exploration to the relationship between
human and the increasingly mechanized society. Although it might be argued that the narrative
logic in silent comedy is irrational and the gags are surreal and dreamlike, the fantasy world in
slapstick comedyis more or less reflect the real society and the uncertainty as well as curiosity when
people confront the new changes in their day to day life. As Bilton writes, comedy s fantastical
harmlessness, its tendency to code phenomena as nonsense, its relief of anxiety via the explosive
but innocuous release of laughter all these suggest the comforting panacea of entertainment. Maybe
the most comfortable way for people to face the unknown is to make the uncertainty into something
that can be laugh about, that is, the slapsticks.

Piano Concerto Analysis
The piano concerto in the 1800s was still very standard. By 1850, the piano was still being used in
a conventional manner. The two Brahms piano concerti are demonstrative of Brahms employing a
classical, conservative style. The first concerto is in a traditional three movements, with a long
orchestral introduction, a slow second movement, and a rondo finale. The second concertocame
decades later and is in four movements. In the first movement, the pianointerrupts the horn solo that
begins the piece. The second movement is a scherzo. The slow third movement has a cello solo
beginning the movement, giving a prominent role to the orchestra, not just the piano. The final
movement goes back to tradition. Both concerti are exceedingly long, clocking in around fifty
minutes.
Tchaikovsky also wrote all three piano concerti post 1850. These pieces also demonstrate the
influence of nationalism, showing distinctively Russian themes. The Second Concerto, similar to
Brahms, features a violin and cello solo in the second movement, creating a piano trio amongst the
greater orchestration. The Third Concerto was originally a symphony but completed as a one
movement work for piano and orchestra.
Saint Saens wrote five concerti for piano, in addition to several other programmatic pieces for
piano and orchestra, including Wedding Cake and Africa. This was a divergence in form from the
standard concerti, creating one movement works where both piano and orchestra were featured,

Themes In A Visit From The Goon Squad
It is said that a man can never walk into the same river twice, not because the river is changing
that after all is inevitable but because the man will never be the same man as he once was. Time,
like a river flows in a set direction and once past no amount of nostalgia is capable of reversing its
course. Just as it is impossible to reverse the passageof time, it is impossible to retain a past identity.
Jennifer Egans novel, a Visit from the Goon Squad, is a collection of short stories that each have a
distinct voice and style. Although each chapter can stand alone, they are bound together by
thematic elements and a complex web of relationships centered around Bennie Salazar a music
executive and his assistant Sasha. In this passage Egan s fifth narrator, Jocelyn, a recovering drug
addict and a childhood friend of Bennie Salazar, returns to the Los Angeles home of her teenage
love interest, Lou,a man old enough to be her father who drove her into adapting the sex, drugs and
rock and roll lifestyle. With Lou on his deathbed, the now forty three year old Jocelyn reunites with
Rhea, another high school friend, and ponders the impact that time has had on their lives. This
passage suggests the destructiveness of time on characters and relationships. Using setting, word
choice, and personificationEgan presents time as truly being a goon.

characters and their former

Holistic Case Studies
The patient in this particular case study is an adult man of 45 years with Down syndrome and a
moderate intellectual disability. This man also has a chronic illness, which is type 2 diabetes.
This man lives in a community group home that is staffed by support workers and he attends a
disability specific day program Monday to Friday. This case study will be reviewed from the
point of view of the community nurse managing the holistic case needs of this particular patient.
Holistic needs involve a number of different considerations, and must include an overall
understanding of the patient s medical needs, as well as his physical and emotional needs. The
goal as the nurse will be to develop a holistic care plan, including an analysis of the health
challenges of this individual, an analysis of activity and participation using the ICF model, and an

Visual Analysis Of Hercules
Standing eight feet tall in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is a marble statue of what is known as
a youthful Hercules. Sculpted during the Early Imperial period, with several restorations made in
the 17th century, this Roman masterpiece dominates the room with its god like essence. Chiseled
with great detail, Hercules is holding a skinned lion in his left hand while his right hand is gripping
a club behind his back. This colorless statue stands with confidence and empowerment, capturing

Annotated Bibliography On Vascular Access Essay
Vascular Access
Usually, accessing vascular structures is done through a needle to puncture the vessel
percutaneously, followed by a wire introduced through the needle to secure the vascular access.
The needle is then removed and a sheath is advanced over the wire. Vascular sheaths are hollow
structures with a built in diaphragm to prevent bleeding. Catheters are then placed into and out of
the sheath with a minimal loss of blood.11
Access to the Cardiovascular System
Femoral arterial and venous access is traditionally the method of choice in infancy. The right and
/or the left groins may be used. This port of access provides advantage of being away from the
thoracic region for ease of catheter manipulation away from the radiographic cameras surrounding
the child s thorax. Umbilical arterial and venous access can be used in newborn babies up to 7
days of age. Other alternative route for arterial access includes: carotid artery, brachial artery, and
axillary artery. On the other hand, alternative venous access includes: internal jugular vein,
subclavian vein, axillary vein, and transhepatic venous access. Alternative vascular access
(ARVA) is occasionally required due to the lack of femoral vascular patency or the need to
position the catheter at a particular trajectory not provided through the traditional femoral access.
The use of ARVA is safe and effective for performing a wide variety of interventions across. In
addition, its use may improve the results of selected

Summary Of Friday With Morrie
Tuesday with Morrie is a book about the life lessons Morrie taught his favorite student, Mitch.
Morrie was a teacher most of his life but he didn t teach his most important lesson until his last
six months on earth while battling ALS and losing to the terminal illness. Mitch is a young man
that does not expect his life to change so drastically has he spends each Tuesday with Morrie in
his study. Each Tuesday Morrie and Mitch share stories, laughs, and tears as Mitch documents
every moment with him. Mitch finds himself learning more from Morrie than he ever has being
a student in his classroom. The subject Mitch was being taught by Morrie was The Meaning of
Life and Mitch was luckily documenting it all and sharing it with the world, teaching readers
the lessons of life Morrie has to teach. Morrie turns the dying experience into a learning

Professor Morrie is explaining the day he found out his mother died, he was eight years old and
a telegram came from the hospital, Morrie had to break the news to his family because he was
the only one who could read English. His Russian father tells him to not speak of her and to keep
the memory of him inside his head and heart. When his mother was sick he ignored her when she
would call Morrie for help, Morrie thought that if he could pretend that he did not hear her, in his
mind he believe this could make the illness go away by ignoring it.

Inaccuracies In Selma
Selma was a movie released at the end of 2014 which portrayed the struggles Martin Luther King,
Jr. and others working closely with him had trying to get the black right to vote in Selma, Alabama.
The movie portrays many clear points, and has largely accurate information. However, in the movie
Selma, there are some clear inaccuracies in the movie that were created to further the plot
The film Selma takes place during the Civil Rights Movement in Selma, Alabama during 1965.
However, there were more struggles going on in the United States than just the black civil rights
movement led by Martin Luther King, Jr. Mexican Americans struggled for fair wages at their jobs

Section 4 established a formula for Congress to use when determining if a state or voting
jurisdiction requires prior approval before changing its voting laws (Brunner, Haney, Timeline).
The Voting Rights Act, which was initially brought before Congress almost directly because of
the Selma to Montgomery march led by MLK, was slightly adjusted to be more fair to all races.
Because this was slightly adjusted, it may have brought people back in time to wondering about
the actual civil rights movement, and what it took to get such a law passed. Selma demonstrated
fairly accurately all the hardships necessary to procure such a law. In general, the American public
was likely beginning to shift to a focus on civil liberties again, rather than the harsh post 9/11

Coca Cola s Financial Analysis: History and Current
Introduction
History
The Coca Cola Corporation is an American Icon of business that has established a new direction for
American Industry operations in the 20th century. According to Moxley (2002), Beginning with its
invention in 1886 by druggist John Doc Pemberton in Atlanta, the development of the product is
shown, along with the changes in American life that accompanied and affected the prices. We learn
that by giving out free samples and pervasive advertising, Coca Cola became known throughout the
country. (Moxley, 2002)

Income Statement An income statement is a financial statement that measures a company s
financial performance over a specific accounting period. Financial performance is assessed by
giving a summary of how the business incurs its revenues and expenses through both operating and
non operating activities. The purpose of the income statement is to show managers and investors
whether the company made or lost money during the period being reported. From the income
statement we can do a ratio analysis of the company. Below are ratios relevant to Coca Cola.
Ratio Analysis
The price to earnings share ratio is a valuation ratio of a company s current share price compared to
its per share earnings. For example, if a company is currently trading at $43 a share and earnings
over the last 12 months were $1.95 per share, the P/E ratio for the stock would be 22.05 ($43
/$1.95). (Investopedia, 2011)
The P/E ratio for Coca Cola is 12.39. (Yahoo Finance, 2011) This ratio indicates that the company s
stock price is currently trading at 12 and a third of its current earnings. Considering the relative

Several studies have shown that injection drug users lower their risk of transmitting infectious
diseases when there is a needle exchange program available. There has not been a valid study of
whether or not the amounts of time needles are returned to the exchange programs are harmful to
communities. The Journal of Public Health, conducted surveys, evidence from needle exchange
sites, jails, and institutions that needle exchange programs are effective in reducing illnesses such
as HIV and AIDS (Burt Theide, 2016). Furthermore, Reepalu, Blome, Bjork, Widell, Bjorkman
(2012), researched the same individuals for 20 years, with no breaks. Their studies concluded that
injection drug use, not only heightens the risk for HIV and AID s, there is also an increase in
Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. However, there studies showed that there is not an increase rate of
cancer diagnoses due to injection drug use. In a study conducted by Bonar and Rosenberg (2014),
they wanted to see if self initiated harm strategies, such as: proper needle sterilization techniques,
proper disposal of needles, and cleaning of the pre injected skin, could help improve the health of
those that use drugs intravenously. Their study was conducted over an eight month period, results

Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover
Author s use their writing to discuss death in different ways. Robert Browning s poem Porphyria
s Lover has few similarities with Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night by Dylan Thomas.
These authors have drastic differences when talking about death. Browning discusses how
killing is a power play in a poem about the speaker gaining control, and Thomas talks about the
transience of life in a poem about fighting death. In one of Robert Browning s most unsettling
dramatic monologues, Porphyria s Lover, Browning tells a story of a man killing his lover in
order to preserve her love for him. When the poem opens, the speaker is describing the chaotic
weather outside. To establish the mood, he keeps this in iambic tetrameter. Browning uses
iambic tetrameter throughout most of the poem, however, on line 5 Browning breaks the meter
by saying, I listened with heart fit to break. The break in the meter puts emphasis on the speaker
s heart breaking. The diction in this poem is simple. It is mostly monosyllabic words and is
rather straightforward. Browning s choice of words causes a disconcerting feeling for the reader.
Browning changes his choice of language starting at line 50. As the speaker s madness is being
revealed he starts to use metaphors, Her head, which droops upon it still / The smiling rosy little
head. The rhyme scheme is ABABB, CDCDD, and continues in this same pattern. The rhyme
scheme is unbalanced, more B s on the back end than A s. This also addresses the

Personality and Sexual Orientation Essay
Hypothesis: Sexual orientation has an effect on one s personality, even at birth. My Initial
Hypothesis I believe that sexual orientation is not something that is learned. I believe that from
the time we are born, we have imbedded in our minds our sexual preferences. I do not believe that
a gay man is gay because of the choices that he has made in his life. I believe that he was born gay,
but the choices and his environment have only reinforced it. Attachment is something that affects
children when they are first born. When they are born they are attracted, so to speak, to their
parents. They see them every day, and their parents give them what they want and when they want

Jamil, Harper, and Fernandez (2009) conducted a study on gay, lesbian, and bisexual minority teens
with the purpose of correlating the relationship between sexual development and ethnic identity.
Sexual identity awareness was triggered internally, by youth recognizing their sexual or romantic
attraction to members of the same sex, (Jamil, Harper, Fernandez, 2009). Golombok and Tasker
(1996) researched the effect lesbian mothers have on their children s sexuality. They took several
lesbian mothers and compared their rearing techniques to those of heterosexual mothers. Several
years later they conducted a follow up study and the results were not so conclusive. Although there
were slightly more children that turned out homosexual under the care of the lesbian mothers, there
was no direct correlation with the heterosexual mothers. Furthermore, there was absolutely no
correlation with boys being homosexual and having a homosexual mother. In Golombok and
Taskers study they state that an attraction is actually being in a relationship. Even so, the teens
from the lesbian background said that they could see themselves or think about being in a
homosexual relationship. Blaise (2010) noted that children know more about sex and sexuality than
they let on. She believes that children should not be directly taught about sexual desires and

Abstract Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) apply best known medical knowledge to patient
data for the purpose of generating case specific decision support advice. CDSS forms the

Strategic Bombing During World War II
World War II began September 1, 1939, the day after Germany invaded neutral Poland. Great
Britain and France declared war on Germany the two days after the invasion. Throughout the war
the bombing of major cities was practiced by both the allies and axis powers. The British and
Americans came up with a more accurate and effective bombing tactics. This tactic is called
strategic bombing . Strategic bombing was sustained aerial attack on railways, harbours, cities,
workers housing, and industrial districts in enemy territory The United Statesand Britain had
justified reasons for the aerial bombings of German and Japanese cities as they were trying to

Cruel Optimism And Grotesque In Winesburg, Ohio
Cruel Optimism and Grotesque in Hands , Winesburg, Ohio
Sherwood Anderson (1876 1941), an American short story writer and novelist, is famous for
subjective and self revealing works. In Winesburg, Ohio (1919), a collection of short stories,
Anderson wrote about citizens in Winesburg, Ohio; most of the characters are grotesque,
misunderstanding, inability to articulate, and alienation in society. The grotesques should be pitied
rather than dismissed. They have dream of ambition; they try to live for their desire; however, their
dream that they embraced become a falsehood. In the link with Anderson s idea, Lauren Berlant,

With smaller and less productive countries in the Eurozone losing its macroeconomic sovereignty,
the competitiveness of Eurozone countries is now determined by its productivity of labour and

policies that could be implemented by other European countries to counteract against Germany.
With a common currency in the eurozone, the possibility for south European countries to
depreciate their currencies in order to boost their exports becomes obsolete. On top of that, the
lower productivity relative to wages becomes more obvious in single currency area where prices
are then dictated by the amount of labour costs. [Zitat jep germany] At the same time, Germany
benefits through the non existent risks in exchange rates in the eurozone. The lack of a variability
in exchange rates creates more certainty in transacting products within Europe. This leads to the
absence of exchange rate losses with various trade partners within the Eurozone, as Table 2 shows
that Germany is dependent on a variety of partners from within the Eurozone. (In a nutshell, the

Role of Ordinary Germans in the Holocaust
The role of ordinary Germans in the Holocaust is that of bystanders. The people of Germany
watched on, without protest, as the Jewish people were murdered. Small and large jobs such as
engineering and railway work contributed to the operation of the Holocaust and the murdering of
Jews. The manipulation of the German people, through racist and anti Semitic propaganda,
speeches and polices from Hitler, meant that millions of Germans backed the plans to rid the nation
of Jews. The idea that the Jews were responsible for economic, social and political issues was
endorsed and it led to the idea that their banishment would lead Germanyinto a brighter future.

been given Whether or not it can account for it, this manipulation of strategic propaganda could
have influenced why Germans either became a part of the Holocaust or simply chose to ignore it.
The lack of resistance and ignorance of the ordinary German population cost many million Jewish
lives. The Nazi party s desire for popularity and support meant that if there was a protest, actions
would be taken to keep the public happy, or quiet, with minimal loss of reputation and status. In
other words, it meant that the people could win. One successful attempt of protest proved that this
theory would have worked. The Rosenstrasse Protest that occurred on the 27th of February 1943 led
to the release of several hundred Jewish men from a Gestapo headquarters. This symbolic protest
highlighted the fact that if the public were to protest, the execution of Jews could have been slowed
or even halted. Despite this, the Rosenstrasse Protest remained the only large protest against the
Holocaust throughout its entire duration. This means that the German population continued to

My Favorite Memories
Some of the most vivid memories from my childhood were born and raised in a military housing
neighborhood located off the base in Warminster, Pennsylvania. My favorite memory however,
was the time my brother and I met one of our childhood best friends. I still remember it as if it
happened yesterday, no matter how much dust it collects in the back of my head, I can always
blow it off and replay it in my mind as if it was the first time seeing it through my eyes. One
humid summer day my older brother and I were outside in the backyard. I want to say I was 6
and my brother was 8, but we were probably younger. The small fenced in space was just on the
edge of the forest which allowed the ground to be covered in dead pine needles that the trees
would cast to the wind. We were bored as ever, discontent with the neglected pair of swings and
lonely slide that had been untouched for most of the summer. They called to us, but our
boredom, unable to be satisfied by such a simple fix, declined their invitation. We sat in a pair of
lawn chairs that were set up against the white fence dividing our yard from the neighbors . That
s when I heard the sound of springs on a trampoline only a few backyards down. It was a girl.
The first thing I thought: cooties. She looked to be my brother s age, and she was. With that
being said, we decided to mess with this poor girl by calling out to her, only to quickly duck down
behind the safety of our fence. We were hooligans. This was probably not

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Coconut Oil
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Hair structure is made up of different layers, chemical bonds and amino acids or proteins.
The hair bulb is a structure with actively growing cells which produce hair as we see it. The hair
shaft is the part of a hair that we all see above your scalp is made of a protein named keratin,
cemented and compacted together. Keratin is quite a tough protein and is resilient to wear and tear.
The hair shaft also contains hydrogen bonds which give your hair its flexibility. The hair shaft is
made up of three layers, the cortex, the medulla, and the cuticle. The cortex forms your hair s
colour. It contains long keratin filaments held together by hydrogen bonds and disulphide and the
health of the cortex depends of the cuticle protecting it. The medulla isn t always present but
consists of a thin core of air spaces and transparent cells. The cuticle is a protective layer
containing overlapping cells similar to fish scales. The outer cuticle holds your hair follicle similar
to a Velcro like bond.

Quality Improvement Analysis
From the article we read about Toyota I loved the quote; You can t solve problems unless you
admit them (Fishman, 2006). To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply
principles of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look
at the big picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After
answering these questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would
make sure that my team and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know
what is going on and the objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. At Toyota, there is a
presumption of imperfection. Perfection is a fine goal, but improvement is much more realistic,
much more human (Fisher, 2006).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I were to apply our design of quality improvement to where I plan on working using Roger s
Diffusion of Innovation Theory I would use his five elements to help me along. According to
Rogers there are five elements of a new or substitute clinical behaviour that will each partly
determine whether adoption or diffusion of a new activity will occur: relative advantage,
compatibility, complexity, trialability and observability (Sanson Fisher, 2004). Michelle and I
decided hiring new nurses and using existing float nurses would improve compliance rates because
there would be a smaller patient to nurse ratio. Before applying our design I would take Roger s
five elements into consideration when approaching staff about a quality improvement project
because ultimately how well the design works is based off staff accomplishment. This approach is
compatible to current unit needs and can be easily adopted. We plan to do an audit quarterly to see
if our new approach is improving compliance rates on the unit and is meeting the Joint Commissions

Creating Opportunities For Students Proficiency ...
I understand the need to create opportunities for my students to show their proficiency in directing
their own learning and have done so within my classroom environment. I am aware that as the
Learning Manager this requires me to have a clear understanding of each student s strengths, needs,
and interests. This is needed in order to create a diverse and relevant classroom experience that
revolves around the curriculum. Please see my examples of such opportunities below:
EXAMPLE 1
During diagnostic testing of a particular year 8 class the reading and spelling levels of certain
students were well below average. These results were amplified when it was obvious that the
attendance within the class was sporadic and behaviour unruly. These combined, led to a poor
attitude towards classroom participation and assessment tasks. The action displayed below was
created after my EPL 3 placement when it became evident that the classroom needed consistent
routine and positive reinforcement in order to encourage student participation.
The required action manifested in the form of motivating student interest, learning and
differentiation in the classroom. The Year 8 students needed a form of routine within the class and
a point of interest which would be renewed systematically throughout the term. Thus, the rules and
expectations chart was created in tandem with the students, in order for the students to take
ownership of their behavior and attitudes within the classroom.

  • 2. Themes In Animal Farm And George Orwell s Montgomery Boycott Have you ever broken a rule before? Did you have a reason for it and what was the consequence? For many of us, this question is very easy to answer. You had a clear reason and the consequence were semi bad. People may say otherwise, but breaking the rule is right during certain circumstance. Authors develop the idea of breaking rules by their characters and setting. In the book Animal farm and the short story Montgomery Boycott, the author gives different reasons why their characters broke the rule, whether they re good or bad. One of the ways author can develop ideas is thru conflict and relationships. In most stories, using conflict spices up the story. Readers don t want a normal boring school day, but a weird one with twist and turns! Conflicts add emotion and drama, making the ideas more alive and realistic to the reader. They believe bilinguals threaten to sap our sense of national identity and divide us along ethnic lines. They also fear that any government recognition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They should encourage and support students to the attainment of bilingual or multilingual skills. They should also consider that students coming from homes where two or more languages are used will face difficulty in applying while in the school environment. The fact that so few Americans command any other language than English is largely a result of educational failure and cultural inadequacies. The American economy will benefit from bilingual education because historically multilingual personnel are smarter, academic skills are sharper, and their contributions to society are immeasurable. English is the one language that offers the biggest market, the largest pool of talent, and the greatest probability of being able to communicate with anyone on the planet. Bilingual education is a tool for better education that children whose primary language is not English learn more easily. Industry and Information Technology dance to English lyrics. Students will have no future in the Information Technology field if they cannot command English as an effective medium of communication. Г¬Furthermore, good bilingual programs are about more than learning a language. His military victories, cult of personality, and influence on Roman life brought him respect in Rome. Cicero, an orator of the era, confirmed Cesar s accounts of his role during the civil war. In representing his own role in the Roman Civil War, Julius Caesarsketches a picture of his influence on his contemporaries that rings true when compared to Cicero s documentation of the same period. Though Caesar praises himself while Cicero scorns him, a consistent picture of Caesar s influence emerges from a close reading of the two authors: he instilled fear in the hearts of Roman Senators and inspired loyalty in Roman Citizens. In Caesar s account in The Civil War, he presents the Roman Senators persecuting him as unreasonable and himself as justified, a contrast to Cicero s personal criticisms of the commander. Caesar states that the Senate is punishing him for his moderate demands (pg. 37). Caesar accounts that the Roman Senate refuses to dismantle Pompey s army, in addition, he states that the Roman Senate is using unnecessary measures against him, as he recounts, ...harsh measures were advocated; and the more savage and vindictive the speaker, the more he was applauded by Caesar s enemies (pg.36 40). The two Brahms piano concerti are demonstrative of Brahms employing a classical, conservative style. The first concerto is in a traditional three movements, with a long orchestral introduction, a slow second movement, and a rondo finale. The second concertocame decades later and is in four movements. In the first movement, the pianointerrupts the horn solo that begins the piece. The second movement is a scherzo. Both concerti are exceedingly long, clocking in around fifty minutes. Tchaikovsky also wrote all three piano concerti post 1850. These pieces also demonstrate the influence of nationalism, showing distinctively Russian themes. The Second Concerto, similar to Brahms, features a violin and cello solo in the second movement, creating a piano trio amongst the greater orchestration. The Third Concerto was originally a symphony but completed as a one movement work for piano and orchestra. Just as it is impossible to reverse the passageof time, it is impossible to retain a past identity. Jennifer Egans novel, a Visit from the Goon Squad, is a collection of short stories that each have a distinct voice and style. Needle Exchange Program Group 9 Austyn Bolander, Chelsea Dugger, Catherine Hoover, Chris Giles, Cassandra Brown, Skiveta Rivera Indiana University East School of Nursing Literature Review Several studies have shown that injection drug users lower their risk of transmitting infectious diseases when there is a needle exchange program available. There has not been a valid study of whether or not the amounts of time needles are returned to the exchange programs are harmful to communities. The Journal of Public Health, conducted surveys, evidence from needle exchange sites, jails, and institutions that needle exchange programs are effective in reducing illnesses such as HIV and AIDS (Burt Theide, 2016). Furthermore, Reepalu, Blome, Bjork, Widell, Bjorkman (2012), researched the same individuals for 20 years, with no breaks. Their studies concluded that injection drug use, not only heightens the risk for HIV and AID s, there is also an increase in Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. However, there studies showed that there is not an increase rate of cancer diagnoses due to injection drug use. In a study conducted by Bonar and Rosenberg (2014), they wanted to see if self initiated harm strategies, such as: proper needle sterilization techniques, proper disposal of needles, and cleaning of the pre injected skin, could help improve the health of those that use drugs intravenously. Their study was conducted over an eight month period, results showed that their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover Author s use their writing to discuss death in different ways. Robert Browning s poem Porphyria s Lover has few similarities with Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night by Dylan Thomas. These authors have drastic differences when talking about death. Browning discusses how killing is a power play in a poem about the speaker gaining control, and Thomas talks about the transience of life in a poem about fighting death. In one of Robert Browning s most unsettling dramatic monologues, Porphyria s Lover, Browning tells a story of a man killing his lover in order to preserve her love for him. When the poem opens, the speaker is describing the chaotic weather outside. To establish the mood, he keeps this in iambic tetrameter. Browning uses iambic tetrameter throughout most of the poem, however, on line 5 Browning breaks the meter by saying, I listened with heart fit to break. The break in the meter puts emphasis on the speaker s heart breaking. The diction in this poem is simple. It is mostly monosyllabic words and is rather straightforward. Browning s choice of words causes a disconcerting feeling for the reader. Browning changes his choice of language starting at line 50. As the speaker s madness is being revealed he starts to use metaphors, Her head, which droops upon it still / The smiling rosy little head. The rhyme scheme is ABABB, CDCDD, and continues in this same pattern. The rhyme scheme is unbalanced, more B s on the back end than A s. This also addresses the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Personality and Sexual Orientation Essay Hypothesis: Sexual orientation has an effect on one s personality, even at birth. My Initial Hypothesis I believe that sexual orientation is not something that is learned. I believe that from the time we are born, we have imbedded in our minds our sexual preferences. I do not believe that a gay man is gay because of the choices that he has made in his life. I believe that he was born gay, but the choices and his environment have only reinforced it. Attachment is something that affects children when they are first born. When they are born they are attracted, so to speak, to their parents. Sexual identity awareness was triggered internally, by youth recognizing their sexual or romantic attraction to members of the same sex, (Jamil, Harper, Fernandez, 2009). Golombok and Tasker (1996) researched the effect lesbian mothers have on their children s sexuality. They took several lesbian mothers and compared their rearing techniques to those of heterosexual mothers. Several years later they conducted a follow up study and the results were not so conclusive. Although there were slightly more children that turned out homosexual under the care of the lesbian mothers, there was no direct correlation with the heterosexual mothers. Furthermore, there was absolutely no correlation with boys being homosexual and having a homosexual mother. In Golombok and Taskers study they state that an attraction is actually being in a relationship. Even so, the teens from the lesbian background said that they could see themselves or think about being in a homosexual relationship. The people of Germany watched on, without protest, as the Jewish people were murdered. Small and large jobs such as engineering and railway work contributed to the operation of the Holocaust and the murdering of Jews. The manipulation of the German people, through racist and anti Semitic propaganda, speeches and polices from Hitler, meant that millions of Germans backed the plans to rid the nation of Jews. My favorite memory however, was the time my brother and I met one of our childhood best friends. I still remember it as if it happened yesterday, no matter how much dust it collects in the back of my head, I can always blow it off and replay it in my mind as if it was the first time seeing it through my eyes. One humid summer day my older brother and I were outside in the backyard. I want to say I was 6 and my brother was 8, but we were probably younger. The small fenced in space was just on the edge of the forest which allowed the ground to be covered in dead pine needles that the trees would cast to the wind. We were bored as ever, discontent with the neglected pair of swings and lonely slide that had been untouched for most of the summer. They called to us, but our boredom, unable to be satisfied by such a simple fix, declined their invitation. We sat in a pair of lawn chairs that were set up against the white fence dividing our yard from the neighbors . That s when I heard the sound of springs on a trampoline only a few backyards down. It was a girl. The first thing I thought: cooties. She looked to be my brother s age, and she was. The hair bulb is a structure with actively growing cells which produce hair as we see it. The hair shaft is the part of a hair that we all see above your scalp is made of a protein named keratin, cemented and compacted together. Keratin is quite a tough protein and is resilient to wear and tear. The hair shaft also contains hydrogen bonds which give your hair its flexibility. The hair shaft is made up of three layers, the cortex, the medulla, and the cuticle. The cortex forms your hair s colour. It contains long keratin filaments held together by hydrogen bonds and disulphide and the health of the cortex depends of the cuticle protecting it. The medulla isn t always present but consists of a thin core of air spaces and transparent cells. The cuticle is a protective layer containing overlapping cells similar to fish scales. The outer cuticle holds your hair follicle similar to a Velcro like bond. To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply principles of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look at the big picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After answering these questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would make sure that my team and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know what is going on and the objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. At Toyota, there is a presumption of imperfection. Perfection is a fine goal, but improvement is much more realistic, much more human (Fisher, 2006).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michelle and I decided hiring new nurses and using existing float nurses would improve compliance rates because there would be a smaller patient to nurse ratio. I understand the need to create opportunities for my students to show their proficiency in directing their own learning and have done so within my classroom environment. I am aware that as the Learning Manager this requires me to have a clear understanding of each student s strengths, needs, and interests. This is needed in order to create a diverse and relevant classroom experience that revolves around the curriculum. Please see my examples of such opportunities below: EXAMPLE 1 During diagnostic testing of a particular year 8 class the reading and spelling levels of certain students were well below average. These results were amplified when it was obvious that the attendance within the class was sporadic and behaviour unruly. These combined, led to a poor attitude towards classroom participation and assessment tasks. The action displayed below was created after my EPL 3 placement when it became evident that the classroom needed consistent routine and positive reinforcement in order to encourage student participation. The required action manifested in the form of motivating student interest, learning and differentiation in the classroom. The Year 8 students needed a form of routine within the class and a point of interest which would be renewed systematically throughout the term. Thus, the rules and expectations chart was created in tandem with the students, in order for the students to take ownership of their behavior and attitudes within the classroom. In ...
