A Brief Report On Fossil Fuels
Executive Summary
Fossil fuels are used as a main source of energy all over the world, including Canada. The burning
of fossil fuels is the world s leading source of emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is one of
the greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. In residential construction, Canada has
become aware of the effects of fossil fuels and is adopting a new way of building with an
environmentally friendly green approach using Geothermal Energy Pump Systems. In residential
homes, Geothermal Energy Pumps are systems that can achieve exact functions of standard
convection systems without the harmful effects of fossil fuels. These systems will significantly
lower the amount of energy required to heat a home, leading to ... Show more content on

Our cities are growing and so is our rate of power consumption. Luckily for us there is an
alternative to traditional HVACsystems. Geothermal technology uses a piping system (commonly
called a loop ) filled with water installed underground that absorbs the heat from solar energy stored
just below the earth s surface [2]. Geothermal HVAC systems differentiate themselves from
common systems as they do not burn fossil fuel to generate heat [3]. They do, however, use
minimal electricity to power the pump to circulate water through the piping system, but compared
to current HVAC methods three to five units of energy are supplied as heat for every one unit used
to power the system. During the summer the system essentially functions in the opposite manner by
absorbing the heat in your home and transferring it back into the earth [4]. In this report the reader
can learn about the current practices and the alternatives for residential HVAC systems, the
technology limitations of this method and its trends, and a conclusion. Current Practices and

The pods are cut open with machetes to reveal between 20 to 40 beans each, surrounded by a
mass of stickly, white pulp. Traditionally, this was done immediately after harvest; today, pods
are sometimes first stored whole for a few days to prime them for fermentation. Fermenting
begins when the beans come into contact with the air. Here, a workrt uses a stick to gauge the
depth of the mass in a vara, or measuring box, to determine the wage of the harvester, before
transferring it to the fermentation bin. During fermentation, the pulp disintegrates, producing
steamy heat and a pervasive, yeasty, sour smell. It is at this point that the beans first develop
thier complex characteristics. Drying of the beans after fermentation is done on slatted wooden
trays in the open air. The beans are spread out evenly and raked periodically so that they dry
uniformly. As the beans dry, their colors deepen, turning them into a carpet of sepia, umber, and
mocha. Aeration of the dried beans during storage is important to prevent the formation of mold.
A worker tosses beans with a shovel to expose them evenly to the air. Grading of the beans is
done mechanically at the larger farms; smaller producers do it by hand. From baskets, the dried
beans are transferred to burlap bags and transported to local selling stations, where they may be
bought by large companies for export. Arriving at the chocolate mills, the beans undergo

What Is The Fear Of Fear Essay
Since a young age, I always had a fear of heights and so when I was asked to take part in jumping
off a bridge (bungee jumping) in South Africa, my natural reaction was to say no, and that is
exactly what I did. But while others were getting ready for the jump I asked myself one question;
why am I scared of heights. I knew I had to face it one day. It was in a fight of flight situation and
so, on the spur of the moment I decided fight. It was a decision I have never regretted even though
minutes before the jumpI was very scared. As I leaped of the bridge I felt like I was on the top of the
world. Adrenalin flowed in my body like blood. I felt alive. To this day I cannot forget the incident.
Not because of how scary it was but because of how I was able to conquer my fear. It taught me to
always try new things and to be adventurous. I learned that if I have faith and confidencein myself

This was due to lack of concentration and determination as all I cared about was playing video
games and watching TV. However, as I grew up I started to realize the importance of good
grades for my future life. Unfortunately becoming better at studies was easier said than done,
but this time I was determined. I started to go to my teachers during lunch breaks for help in
topics I did not understand or asked my peers to explain to me topics that confused me. I also
started to use the vast amount of resources I had, such as the internet for research or the school
library for gaining more insight on certain topics. The journey to becoming better and academics
was not easy, but at the end it paid off. My hard work lead to me being in the top 10% of my year
during the O level and As Level examination. Also I was the highest in Kenya in O Level Business

Empiricism and Experience
Empiricism Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience.
How can one know what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would
someone know that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell
you an apple is red, but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure? Empiricists use three
anchor points in which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points is; the only source
of genuine knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to compare the mind
to a clean sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of everything it touches.
Without this, the sponge would remain clean and be void of... Show more content on

The second epistemological question is; does reason provide us with knowledge of the world
independently of experience? John Locke says the answer to this question is no. He uses
arguments discussed in the third anchor point of empiricism to support this idea. Locke does
not believe that reason alone can provide knowledge because we do not possess innate
knowledge that we are not aware of. To best describe this Locke proposes this model: Suppose
the mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters, without any ideas; how comes it to
be furnished? When man has painted on it with endless variety, how does it have all the
materials of reason and knowledge to this question I answer, in one word, from experience. In
that all our knowledge is founded, and from that, it ultimately drives itself (p94). Therefore,
without these experiences Locke believes that we would not possess the concept of reason and
because of that reason alone cannot provide us knowledge of the world. Berkeley s answer to
the second question is no as well. He believed that it was only through experience and not reason
that we have any knowledge of reality. Since our experiences differ from each individual, reality
too will differ for each individual. These ideas as he calls them are the concrete contents of our
minds. These ideas are provided through experience and not reason. Therefore, we can not posses
knowledge through our reasoning because that reasoning would be based

Table 2 shows the firm s unit costs for various items. Company management is committed to
adopting advanced manufacturing techniques such as benchmarking and just in time (JIT). The
corporate culture necessary for the success of such techniques is evolving and worker
empowerment is already a major program. In addition, workers are allowed several hours away
from regular work assignments each week for training programs conferring on budgets and work
improvements and applying the ABC system.
PERFORMANCE:
The company is profitable. However, management has become concerned about the profitability of
the customers in its three customer size categories large, medium and small. Different customers
demand different levels of support. Management has no basis for identifying customers that
generate high profits or to drop those that do not generate enough revenues to cover the expenses to
support them. Under the previous accounting system, it wasn t possible to determine the costs of
supporting individual customers. With the introduction of ABC, it now may be possible to
determine customer profitability. Table 3 shows how the administrative and selling costs are
assigned and re assigned between various functions within the selling and marketing areas and to
sub activities in the selling and marketing areas. Table 4 provides a list of

The Problem Of Arson Investigation
Arson investigation began sometime in the mid 1970 s, and has been a process changed and
evolved ever since. The act of arson consists of purposely setting or starting a fire on someone s
property, and can be for a number of reasons anywhere from vandalism, excitement or serial arson,
to revenge, extremism or crime concealment (Newton, M., 15). Some previously proven indicators
pointing as to whether or not a fireis an act of arson has been questioned, further researched and
tested. Many of these theories have stated that certain markings, post fire, could only appear due an
accelerant being used to help engage the fire or intensify it, though recently many of these theories
have been debunked. The truth behind some of these markings... Show more content on

One of the most misleading processes that can lead to a wrongful conviction is a term called
flashover. Flashover is what seemingly happens when an entire room is engulfed in fire, and
flames protrude from openings within the building. The process occurs in an enclosed space
when particles and combustible gases begin to cluster close to the ceiling, and then slowly fall
towards the floor. At this point, it is likely that an accumulation of air would rush into the room
through windows, doors or other cavities, and ignite the muddle of particles and gases (Starr,
2011). As this process was not realized until later when arson investigation became more
developed, many explanations as to whether an accelerant was used to start a fire have been
recently proven to be more than likely due to the effects of a flashover. Some of these beliefs were
that melted metals, especially those in or near doorways, burn marks under pieces of furniture, or
on the floor were a sure sign that a liquid accelerant was used to start the fire. Detectives believed
melted metals were a sign of a liquid accelerant because they thought that temperatures high enough
to melt these types of metals were unattainable without an accelerant. In reality, wood fires
commonly reach and exceed the melting point of metals, especially once they hit

Asbestos Betwee Case Study
Having already established the basis of a theoretical outlook as well as the social history of
asbestos, which is still produced and used in American manufacturing, we will now move on to
explain the methods we are using to collect our data. For our subject area, we have selected
Oneida Herkimer, Jefferson, Oswego, and Onondaga County Solid Waste Facilities located in
Upstate New York, and we will be exploring the differences in how asbestos is disposed of in
each of these counties. We chose these counties because our insider has had direct contact with
the solid waste management bosses of these counties and can easily obtain asbestos information.
We believe this is best because it limits under reporting of asbestos amounts in fear of public
exposure. Furthermore, he has a case study we hope to analysis on the differences in the
removal of asbestos from Jefferson and Oswego. We plan to find this out by using an interview
process to collect our data. We will gather information by way of interviews with leaders from the

The Biblical Interpretation Of Exodus And Song Of...
After Reformation period, the allegorical biblical interpretation was criticized and rejected by
contemporary biblical interpretation theory, and a lot of Christian evangelical churches. However,
as a long tradition stems from the early church, allegorical interpretation has never been
disappeared; on the contrary, it was one the most important exegesis tradition in the history of
Chinese Protestant Church. Many fundamentalist theologians and church leaders were influenced
by it, while Jia Yuming is one of the representative figures. This paper attempts to explain the
characteristic of Jia Yuming` s allegorical biblical interpretation, and to explore the contribution of
his exegesis in Chinese Christian theology. Jia Yuming`s allegorical interpretation was influenced
by several theological schools. He graduated from Presbyterian seminary, and had reformed
theology background, then he influenced by pietistic theology and Charismatic movement, and
then turned to allegorical exegesis. In this paper, we will use Jia Yuming` s interpretation of
Exodus and Song of Solomon as an example to analyze its characteristics. Exodus had a lot of
narrative and laws, and was allegorical explained by Jia Yuming. Song of Solomon is the most
difficult book to interpret and often be interpreted as an allegory.

Genetic Based Diagnostic Patents
Introduction Technology enriches our society by making widely available new and useful goods,
services, and technical information . Clearly, as a society, we would want to encourage the
development of technology so that we can reap the benefits they offer us. Innovators require an
incentive to invent and share these technologies with the rest of society. This incentive is achieved
by granting intellectual property rights (IPR) to inventors . More specifically, the incentive is
usually achieved by granting patents to inventors . Patents are governed under a Federal statute in
Canada, the Patent Act . The act sets out the criteria that an inventionmust meet in order to be

The Impact Of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects
nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord (Plowman, 2015, p.1151). The motor neurons reach from
the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles in the body. When ALS is in
a degenerate stage, this causes paralyzation and loss of muscle control, which can lead to one s
death. The ALS Association is a national nonprofit organization that is dedicated to fighting Lou
Gehrig s disease by providing support and information to those that have this disease, as well as

Social media was very effective in this campaign because the audience was able to participate in
a more active stance and allow their video postings to reach not only their followers but others as
well. Social media is very inclusive of all age groups and various types of people and is more
influential than a commercial on a given channel that may or may not reach the same wide
audience. Social media encourages having a conversation which is a 2 way communication
process between the audience and the organization. The ALS Association was able to
communicate with their audience using social media and the videos posted by their audience
helped their cause in a positive way. Social media also allowed the organization to keep track of
what is going on with their audience in response to their campaign. According to Sutton Paulson,
theory of planned behavior (TPB), there are three major determinants that permit the explanation
and prediction of most human social behavior attitudes, perceived norms, and perceptions of
behavioral control (2016, p.411). With social media, theory of planned behavior comes into play
because majority of the participants perceived social media, and making their own videos, as a
social norm that was deemed socially acceptable during the campaign. Participants had a positive
experience while making their social media video, which

Waitrose is a clear growth in the United Kingdom, as evidenced by the events in recent years:
In 2000, Waitrose purchased 11 stores from rival Somerfield.
In order for Morrisons to meet competition regulations following its acquisition of Safeway, it
was required to sell 52 of the Safeway stores. The first batch of 19 stores were sold to Waitrose in
2004, and in August 2005, it purchased a further five Safeway stores. This took the firm as far
north as Durham (now closed), fitting with its long term strategy to evolve into a national retailer.
In December 2005, Waitrose also bought another store at Biggin Hill, south east London, from
Morrison s. In July 2006, Waitrose announced it had purchased another six stores from Morrison s
and also a former Safeway regional distribution centre in Aylesford, Kent.

Poetic justice is a literary device that allows one to see how evil is punished and how good works
are rewarded. In the Divine Comedy, it is revealed that in Heaven and Hell there is good and evil
will both be punished or rewarded justly. The story follows Dante and how he witnesses poetic
justice, which is exercised in every part of the Divine Comedy. Hellis emphasized as being the
penalty for evil. Purgatory contains those who were a mixture of both good and evil, and they are
reconciled and purged. Heavenis the place in which goodness and kindness are rewarded with
eternal life on the planets under the glow of God and His magnificence. Poetic justice/purgation is

The story of Laocoon is popularly found in the Aeneid, where Laocoon warned the Trojans
against bringing the wooden horse into Troy; as he suspected soldiers to be hiding in it.
According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, Laocoon was from Troy and was the priest of the god
Apollo. Laocoon had made a promise to Apollo to be celibate, as he was his priest. Laocoon
ended up breaking this promise and got married and had children. Apollo was mad about this.
While Laocoon and his two sons were preparing a sacrifice for Poseidon, two giant serpents, sent
by Apollo, crushed them to death (Encyclopedia Britannica).
This story is a great example of deception and justice. Like the thieves in the Inferno, Laocoon knew
that breaking his promise to Apollo was wrong but did it anyway. He proved that he was not
trustworthy. Like the thieves, Laocoon also got his just punishment. Serpents were introduced into
the story as a punishment from Apollo, just like serpents were introduced into the Inferno sent by

Ovid s Metamorphoses Sexuality
When one becomes familiar with mythology through Ovid s Metamorphoses, a collection of
preexisting myths, strung together with the unifying theme of metamorphosis and divine
intervention, a new language of allusions is discovered. This is used by Christopher Marlowe to
better express the themes of beauty and sexuality through an Ovidian aesthetic in his epyllion, Hero
and Leander. Marlowe writes of two naГЇve lovers, equal in beauty, separated by the Hellespont,
Leander in Abydos and Hero in Sestos. During the festival of Venus and Adonis in Sestos, Leander

The Technique of Grafting in Agriculture
I. INTRODUCTION
The technique of grafting dates back to the beginning of agriculture. Although it can be labor
intensive, grafting has continued to be used in fruit and nut trees because of the immense benefits.
Different plants produce different qualities of fruits and nuts, and not always consistently. And,
because tree fruits are nearly impossible to reproduce from cuttings, grafting has become the most
popular technique for fruit tree propagation. Grafting helps to produce a superior and highly valued
crop (Hartmann, Kester, Davies, Geneve, 2011). New markets continue to require grafted and
budded plants for improved plant quality, fruit yield, superior forms, and better adaptation to greater
ecological ranges (Hartmann et al. 2011).
This paper will take a closer look at the technique of grafting, where it originated from, its
developments over time, and the impact it has had on agriculture.
II. DEFINITION Grafting can be described as the natural or deliberate fusion of plant parts so
that vascular continuity is established between them and the resulting genetically composite
organism functions as a single plant (Mudge, Janick, Scofield, Goldschmidt, 2009). In other
words, it involves taking part of one tree and attaching it to part of another tree. For example, a
section of a stem with leaf buds might be inserted into the stock of a tree. Many times one plant is
selected for its roots, called the stock or rootstock, and the other plant is selected for

though Briony sent the wrong person to jail she couldn t look at Lola the same because she
never opened her mouth to tell her the actual person was who raped her and that was mostly an
obstacle that Briony had to face. The one thing that impacted the message to Briony about her

Briony never opened up the sexual letter Robbie had written to Cecilia but gave her the wrong

Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
Experiment 9
Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
Objectives
Upon completion of this experiment, students should have learned:
1. The law of conservation of mass.
2. How to calculate an empirical formula.
3. The concept of limiting reagents.
Introduction
Synthesis and the determination of empirical formulas are two extremely important parts of
chemistry. In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula.
The molecular formula gives the actual number of atoms of each element in the molecule and the
empirical formula gives the lowest whole number ratio of the atoms in the molecule. For instance,
the molecular formula of glucose is C6H12O6 and its empirical formula is CH2O. For some ...

For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively.
Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are
multiple oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and
oxygen form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two.
When naming a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two
possibilities [copper(I) oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide].
Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by
mass experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass.
Following the procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest
number, results in a mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the
lowest whole number that converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is
Fe3O4. As iron has two oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3.
Anytime a result that is inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step
should be to recheck all the data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a
known compound often called magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this
compound

Derbyshire is a region in the East Midlands of England. A significant part of the Peak District
National Park exists in Derbyshire, comprising the southern furthest point of the Pennine scope of
hills which reach out into the north of the region.
The changed scenes inside Derbyshire s have been framed for the most part as an outcome of the
basic topography; by the way the land has been overseen and formed by human undertakings.
From a geological point of view, Derbyshire s strong topography is divided into two altogether
different parts. The most established rocks are found in the northern, more upland portion of the
region, and are for the most part, of Carboniferous age, including gritstones, limestones, shales, and
sandstones. On the other hand, the southern and more marsh half of Derbyshire contains
significantly milder rocks, chiefly mudstones and sandstones from the Permo Triassic age, which
make gentler, all the more moving scenes with limited rock projections. ... Show more content on

Essay on Downloading Music on the Internet
Who s downloading?
Throughout many years of the computer age there has been much advancement in computer
technology. It first began with the people getting the Internet, then people began to understand the
Internet, and then lastly people learned to overpower the Internet. Within the past several years the
downloading music factor strongly took effect. To the majority of the internet population they tend
to believe there s nothing wrong with getting free tunes, but there is the select few who believe it is
morally wrong. Overall, I truly enjoy having the free access to music; it enables you to try new

Why People Should Not Build A National Park
The people should not make an national park because is to dangerous for everybody. Is
dangerous because when someone builds an national park and when a tornado or an earthquake
that can cause a lot of death because the national park would be in the middle of the canyon.
Some people thinks it would be good to build a national park in the middle of the canyon but
most of the people are disagree. In some parts of the canyon are rivers and blue water, and that

Their Eyes Were Watching God Freedom Quotes
First Examination: Working Through Self Recognition to Liberation The only way to deal with
an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion, is a
quote written by Albert Camus, which displays the complexity of defining the term freedom.
Jean Paul Sartre s play The Flies, defines the concept of freedom as the accountability of one s
own guilt, which allows individuals to recognize their own freedom. Furthermore, an individual
that accepts accountability for one s own guilt and responsibility for the city, or complete
isolation, is living in freedom. Likewise, Zora Neal Hurston s novel Their Eyes Were Watching

Both of these demands allow their protagonist to experience liberating moments, but the exercise
and continual application of using your voice is what allows Janie to transcend self recognition
or liberating moments, and become liberated. Hurston s definition of freedom is the recognition
of self illustrated through Janie s developing voice. While exploring Janie s three marriages you
can see the stages in her life where her voice was silenced, liberated, and then empowered. By the
end of the novel Janie is encouraged to continue growing in her liberation and developing her
voice. Hurston brings Janie freedom by using true love. Janie s love for Tea Cake, her third
husband, and his love for her allowed Janie to experience an awakening of her self
consciousness. Tea Cake encouraged her to speak her mind, the Muck town allowed her to be
free; it was there that Jamie became free from the societal customs that often oppressed her.
When Tea Cake died she decided to return home; Janie s homecoming showed the reader that she
was able to return home with a self conscious awakening, pass on the wisdom she gained to
Pheoby, and display her confidence in speaking when she wanted to. She did not feel the need to
explain herself if she did not want to because she was confident in

The Importance Of My Best Friend
When I was younger I always wanted a friend, a best friend, a friend that I could confide in and
would always be there for me. Throughout the years I ve had several male and female friends
but none scared me as bad as my so called best friend my 12th grade year. In summer of 2007 I
moved from Jackson to Crockett county because my mother got a divorce. At the time, I didn t
have my license so I could drive myself to school so I had to change schools. There was this girl
named Nicole who lived down the street from my grandmother. Me and her had grown close to
throughout the years because on the weekends or during the summertime I would spend a lot of
time at my grandmothers. During the summer Nicole and I would spend a lot of time hang out
and she eventually got me a job at the local dairy queen where she worked. By the time school
started Nicole and I were inseparable, we were always together. One night when we were at
work a group of boys she knew came in. They kept asking who I was but she told them I didn t
want them and for them to stop looking at me. After they left I asked her what did they say and
she said that one of them liked me. After that she got very quit and didn t say anything the rest of
the night. When we got off we did I normal routine, we would ride around for a while and talked
about the latest gossip, listen to music and then go home. But for some weird reason Nicole
wasn t as talkative as she normal was, she most sat back and listened to what I said and nodded
when she agreed with something. After we got tired of riding around I dropped her off and went
home. The next day when I got to school one of my classmates said that a girl named Ashley was
looking for me. I was like why? I knew who she was but I didn t talk to her. Well apparently,,
somebody had lied and told her I called her ugly and a hoe. I was confused because I never said
that about her. After Ashley and I talked she said she didn t have a problem with me and wonder
what she did for me to call her that and I told her I did say anything. After that conversation,
everything was fine between us and we moved on. The next week when I got to school there was

Art Museum Of Fort Worth Texas
This influence and style continued at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth Texas. Louis Kahn is
a modern architect that designed the Kimbell Art Museum. Kahn emerged from the Beaux Arts
movement but became one of the foremost American Modernist architects of the 1950 s and 60 s
(Kimball, 1990). Kahn created a building for the Kimbell Art Museumthat also complimented the
art and did not distract the viewer (Kimball, 1990). He was commissioned to design the Kimbell
Art Museum from 1966 1972). Kahn s museums are individual to the point of idiosyncrasy, yet
they remain transparent to the works of the art they house (Kimball, 1990). The Yale University Art
Gallery, designed by Kahn, has an intimate studio feel as employed at the Museum of Modern Art
(Binns, 2004 p. 17). Kahn also utilized similar materials that Goodwin and Stone incorporated.
The Yale University Art Gallery is made of large pieces of glass and steel (Binns, 2004, p. 17).
Many of the materials used at Kahn s three museums are glass, steel, concrete, and brick
(Eliasoph, 2009, p. 317). During the 2005 remodeling, the team attempts at restoring much of
Kahn s original design elements at it considers it a very important part of architectural history

Qualities of an Effective Teacher
What it means to be an effective teacher
Introduction
An effective teacher is someone who increases the understanding of a pupil. Effective teaching is
the ability of providing instructions to students of varying abilities while incorporating instructional
objectives and assessing the effective education form of students. In the evaluation of performance,
efficiency on the lesson plan and technique of delivery forms form part of the criteria taken into
consideration. The teacher s practices that ensure the higher level of assessment and active
participation are most successful. This outdo all the factors, such as size of the class,
socioeconomic conditions and gender (Sullivan 2001). The most significant aspect that gears a
student to perform well is the teachers details of classroom practices as demonstrated in one of the
video links Pre primary: Science Mini Beasts . They must have sufficient familiarity with the
techniques and methods associated with their career and must certify that the pupil learning must
develop over the course of the year (Sullivan 2001). Majorly presumed methods of quantifying
teacher effectiveness include pupils work, teacher s assessments, and lesson plans. An effective
teacher employs creativity in the classroom. It is both necessary to the student and teacher.
Creativity involves qualities like imagination, originality, and self expression. The teacher should
encourage the use of imagination as implied in the video footage. Imagination

South American Imperialism
Mexico and South America The uprisings of Mexico and South America were similar in that the
two regions both fought for independence from the oppression of Spain and Portugal imperialism,
although creole elites were ultimately perceived in two distinct manners. Creole elites were seen as
enemies in Mexicos perspective, while South America viewed them as reformists. The monopoly
that Spainand Portugal had over Mexico and all of South America initiated the rebellions of both
geographical locations. In Mexico, peasant poverty turned the lower classes against both the
Spanish and creole elites, seeing as they were a direct cause of oppression. In South America,
however, creole elites were leaders of the revolt, who sought to conserve the... Show more content

These differences primarily centered on the positions of the creole elites, who were perceived
distinctly by both groups. In Mexico s revolution, the rebels believed that the creole elites were
intertwined with Spanish rule, therefore claiming them as accessories in the dispute. The lower
classes of Mexico strongly believed that the allied forces of the creole elites and the Spanish
was the direct cause of peasant poverty in the region. Consequently, the creole elites of Mexico
were deemed enemies and attacked by the lower classes. In South American countries, however,
creole elites were glorified representatives of the fight for liberation from the Spanish. Many of
the leaders of the South American rebellion were creole elites, as was mentioned previously.
These leaders seemed to be the stronghold to carry out the revolution, and were therefore favored
by people in the region. For this reason, the social system of Mexico and South America differed

A Dynamic Model Of Resource Allocation
Program portfolios within a budget constraint are a vital challenge in the management of new
product development. Most favorable portfolios are not easy to define because of the
combinatorial density of project combinations. However, at the collective level of the strategic
allocation of resources across product lines, investment in a program is not an all or nothing
decision, but can be adjusted, resulting in a higher or lower program benefit (e.g., higher or
lower quality). In some cases, resources can be adjusted even for individual projects. With this
insight, one can use marginal analysis to optimally allocate the scarce budget. This article develops
a dynamic model of resource allocation, taking into account multiple interacting factors, such as
independent or correlated, uncertain market payoffs that change over time, increasing or decreasing
returns from the investment, carry over of the investment benefit over multiple periods, and
interactions across market segments. We characterize optimal policies in closed form and derive
qualitative decision rules for managers. (Roussel et al. 1991, Cooper et al. 1998). Projects
represent a growing proportion of human activity in large, small, private or public organizations.
Projects are used to execute and sustain today s organizational activities. They play a fundamental
role as the engine of tomorrow s innovation, value creation, and strategic change. However, projects
too often fail to deliver their promise. (PMJ, 2016).

Leinaweaver Child Circulation Summary
In Jesseca B. Leinaweaver s Child Circulation: Kinship, Adoption and Morality in Andean Peru,
Leinaweaver s central point is on how the movement of the children play a part on how kinship is
determined socially. It examines the phenomenon of formal and informal adoption practices. The
descriptive anthropology deals with a universal perspective on culture. What is made utile through
the circulation of children is gender, adoption and kinship to influence the organization of the
Andean community. Kinship means where you are from and where family ties in together.
Living in a certain area can lead to our religion and passed on to generations. Family ties may cause

At the beginning of the course, we also learned about feminist anthropology and how it initially
focused on women, gender construction, and gender inequality, increasingly concerned with
power and inequality in general. Using a reading from class, I am able to understand how social
constructions of gender is able to vary cross culturally. The Berdache Tradition explains the
difference between sex and gender. Sex is a biological form when gender can be perceived more
as a choice. Meaning, there are more than two genders. It is able to be varied among cultures. In
the reading, men played a third gender, doing housework. In some of the cultures, the berdache is
able to become a wife to a man. This ties in to a Leinaweavers work of a child of circulation.
Many Native Americans were able to understand that gender roles had to do with more than just a
biological sex. Individuals were a part of the natural order of the universe itself, with something
special to contribute. This all helped me with the understanding of gender relations to understand
the lives of the adopted children in Ayacucho,

The fear of death is universal. Death is an inescapable personal experience that can never be fully
understood or known. The uncertainty of what happens during and after death is the basis of the
fear. To placate this anxiety, historically different cultures have created different burial rituals (The
Vampire Myth and Christianity 15). Belief in vampires has existed since the beginning of human
history, often appearing in many different cultures concurrently (The Vampire in modern media).
These ritual were performed to guarantee that the dead would not rise. Now for the Christian

primary functions of any religion is to legislate morality to both the elites and the commoners.

Analysis Of The Poem Dream Deferred
Pursuing Dreams
The overall meaning of this poem is about the consequences of not pursuing your dreams. For
some this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem
begins with a simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an
individual goes in another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a
weight to be lifted? Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or
benefits that are the result of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible
different outcomes that would occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the
possible scenarios is listed as Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream
begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life. This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages.
Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over
time. A dream that once seemed to be very achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in
the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin,
just like their dreams can shrink down into a fraction of what they once were. The next scenario
is a how a deferred dream can affect you a little more harshly. The speaker asks, Or fester like a
sore / And then run (lines 4 5)? The sore that is mentioned can be thought of as more of a wound. It
is not so much the result

The Ethics Of Environmental Ethics
Environmental Ethics This research will be based on two types of theories. These theories will
be the guiding approaches that will be used in order to come up with the real issue at hand and
also be able to provide a solution for the same. The first of the two approaches will be
deontological approach and the other will be utilitarianism approach. Therefore, to better
understand how to use these two approaches, it is better to first discuss them briefly and have a
better understanding of what they are. Deontological Approach Deontological comes from two
Greek word. The first word is deon which when interpreted means duty or responsibility. This
word is used to mean what one ought to do or is obligated to do. The other word is logos which
when interpreted means study. Therefore, this may be literally be interpreted as the duty of study
or the responsibility to study. Deontological is a normative theory which examines the choices we
make and regards which one are morally required or permitted or which one are forbidden
(Cohen,1997). Deontological theorists are those theorists who judge our actions on what we are
supposed or should do and not what we may do. They judge these actions of what we ought to do
regardless of the consequences of the action. These means that the actions are not justified by the
consequences but rather by themselves. One ought not to examine what they are obligated to do on
the basis of the results the action will bring but rather on the actions

Abstract:
Vehicular Communication systems ,an application of wireless communication is an increasing area
of communication between the vehicles and other roadside infrastructure in which allocation of
wireless channels are used to share information among vehicles and infrastructure and hence these
channels are used for the development and implementation of vehicular communication systems
.The 10 MHz wide channels in 5.9GHz spectrum band are reserved for this purpose by two main
protocols the WAVE standards proposed by IEEE in the United States and ETSI ITS G5 in
Europe. But still the cross channel interference affect the vehicular communication systems. So to
diminish these problems, this paper presents the implementation of two stage lowpass equiripple
FIR filter, target to be integrated with digital baseband receiver chain of vehicular communication
platform. The filter was evaluated, optimized and tested with the simulation results and FPGA

eight articles created to dissuade any conflict between the U.S. and Great Britain. Washington s
Farwell Address conveyed his views and beliefs on foreign policy and informed the people that if
they would remain loyal to their truths and values, the nation would surely prosper. The second,
third, fourth, fifth, and eleventh Federalist Paperswere documents that the Federalists wrote to
promote the ratification of the Constitution to New York citizens. The Jay Treaty, Washington s
Farewell Address, and the Federalist Papers each had their respective degrees of Good, Bad, or
Ugly. In the twenty eight articles of the Jay Treaty, conflicts in trading, territory, and impressment
were all addressed and revised. The Jay Treaty, written by John Jayand ideas from Alexander
Hamilton, was a set of articles which was created to prevent another war with Great Britain. Several
articles in the treaty were on impressment, the raiding of an enemy s ship and taking the loot and
crew, and how they would prevent this from happening between the two countries.
The second idea they sought to tackle was the problems in trading. At that time, British exports

How Did The Black Panther Party Affect The Civil Rights...
The Black Panther Party was founded in Oakland, California in 1966 by Huey P. Newton and
Bobby Seale. Originally intended to be a patrol force against police brutality in black
communities, the Black Panther Party came to play an important role in the later years of the civil
rights movement. This was due in large part to its Ten Point Program, which resulted in the
implementation of many social programs, including the Free Breakfast for School Children in
1969. The social programs carried out by the Black Panther Partyinspired change during the civil
rights movement. The party succeeded in achieving certain goals from their Ten Point Program, and

Newton and Seale recruited men from local communities to take part in police patrols. While the
patrol squads were successful in reducing the instances of police brutality against black people, it
also sparked intensified instances of police harassment against Black Panther Party members
(Harris 167). The Black Panther Party would later gain wide recognition after their protest at the
California State Capitol where Bobby Seale read the Executive Mandate Number One in 1967
(Seale 348). After Eldridge Cleaver joined the party, he suggested they change the group s name
from the Black Panther Party for Self Defense to the Black Panther Party. Cleaver believed it
was time for the party to lessen its emphasis on self defense against police, or rather, to increase
its emphasis on the other points of the program (Harris 167). One of the most notable
achievements of the Black Panther Party was their Free Breakfast for School Children program,
started in San Francisco and Oakland, California in January of 1969 (Harris 168). The Black
Panther Party started several free health clinics to deal with the lack of access to medical
attention in poverty stricken communities The party also organized buses to prison due to the
extremely high number of incarcerated black people, as well as free clothing and shoe programs
for those who couldn t afford them (Harris 168). The party was able to achieve moderate success
on their fourth point. They organized and led rent strikes which resulted in tenant ownership of
buildings (Harris 171). This was in response to tenants who had previously been subjected to
inhumane living conditions and rent abuse by landlords. While the party was not able to achieve
their sixth point, they did fight against black men s involvement in wars. The party organized anti
war rallies, and encouraged minorities to

Case Of 1928-Olmstead V. United States
1928 Olmstead v.United States Supreme court rules federal investigators can wiretap into suspects
phones legally, and use those conversations as evidence. Roy Olmstead, a suspected bootlegger,
was bugged in the basement of his office, and also in the streets surrounding his home. He was
later convicted based on that evidence. An appeal was raised on the grounds that the wiretapped
data violated the defendant s Fourth and Fifth Amendment. It was decided that the wiretapped data
did not violate the Fifth Amendment, because he was not forced to say anything incriminating, and
did not violate the Fourth Amendment because wiretapping is not considered search and seizure
(which would require a physical search of a person s belongings or possessions.) This event is
important because it decided that wiretapping was legal and did not infringe on the Fourth or Fifth
Amendment rights of criminals, effectively allowing wiretapping to be used in investigation and
trial as evidence. In addition, it defined your Fourth Amendment rights to only apply to physical
materials or properties of yours, not conversations or other non tangible things, and said that since
wiretapped individuals were not forced to discuss incriminating information, the Fifth Amendment
protection against self incrimination did not apply. It set a major precedent that would stand for
nearly forty years, when it was overturned in Katz v. United States. 1945 The predecessor to the

To Build A Fire
I chose the story To Build a Fire by Jack London. I chose this story because it was the one that
caught my attention the most. As I was reading it, I really wanted to know the fate of the man at
the end of the tale. This short story is about a man who sets out on a journey through the Yukon
trail. He goes on the trip all alone, only accompanied by a dog despite the warnings of the locals
that going alone on a journey with such freezing weather is dangerous. At the end, the man realizes
he should have heeded the warnings as he slowly dies of hypothermia from the cold weather. I
enjoyed this story very much. From the start, we are told that the man was mistaken to set out on
this journey with this weather The animal was worried by the great

The Night Of The Warriors
I was standing on the logo in Oracle Arena, home of The Warriors. The bright lights and vibrant
blue and yellow surrounded me. Then it came to me, i m really going to play here. Nobody was in
the 20,000 seats besides the other five teams ready to play and their parents.
I got the chills thinking I was really going to play on the same court that NBA players play on.
The best part was if we win the tournament then the parents and players both get tickets for the
game later on. I laced up my all white sneakers and thought to myself it s gametime.
As the other starters and I took the court, I started imagining myself on TV, as if I were in the
NBA. We won the tip off and Johnny passed me the ball, I looked up and nobody was guarding

rang and my team crowded around me. The event director gave us our medals but more
importantly gave us the tickets for the game later. I then went up to my mom who was elated
and showed her the tickets. She emphasized I knew you could do it son and hugged as if there was
an an anaconda around my body. She then said ecstatically well I know what we are doing later. I
said in response let s do it!
Basmagian 3
As we enter the arena once again, the first thing i could smell was the sweet cinnamon from the
churros. As my mom and I were finding our seat, I was taking in all the food stands that filled
the arena. Eventually, we found our seats and I took a deep breath and soaked in what it felt like
to be at an NBA game. All the security, vendors, people, but more importantly the NBA players.
Every time The Warriors scored the crowd erupted as if they had just made a game winner. Once it
was halftime, my mom and I went to get food. She decided that she wanted street tacos loaded with
Carne Asada. I decided I wanted a ginormous, greasy slice of pizza. As they cut the slice my mouth
start watering and i could smell the cheese and pepperoni as if it were right in front of my nose. I
could not wait to get back to my seat, so I could devour my pizza.

Sessions is a huge climate skeptic. He believes the current climate science is all deliberate
misinformation . In a 2014 speech in the Senate he said, I don t know we know enough now to

been a lot of hype, and people are feeling the crunch already in their electric bills ... in our effort

countries that seem to be finding more and more resources in their search to go green . This
could be potentially destructive. Sessions is also known to have joked about the Ku Klux Klan, or
KKK, with former colleagues, even saying he supported them. However, he supported them until
he found out they smoked marijuana. This suggests he supports the overall ideology of white

Reynold s Number
Therefore if two spheres have the same Reynold s number, they should both have the same
aerodynamic characteristics even if the spheres are of different sizes and/or are flying at
different speeds. The boundary layer is a thin layer of air which lies closely to the surface of the
body in motion, and within this layer the adverse pressure gradient is crated which causes the
separation of flow. When the Reynolds numbers are low, the boundary is smooth and called
laminar. Laminar boundary layers usually reduce drag on most shapes, however due to their
fragile nature they separate from the surface of an object very easily when they encounter an
adverse pressure gradient, and this separated flow causes the drag to remain so high below the

Resulting in a large pressure difference between the front and rear faces, creating a large drag
below the transition Reynolds number. But the transition to the turbulent boundary layer, adds
energy to the flow meaning it remains attached to the surface of the sphere, allowing the Magnus
effect to occur meaning the ball has a long hang time in the air, forming the parabola ball flight
model. As separation is delayed until a much later point, the wake is narrower. This reduces the
low pressure region on the rear face and reduce the difference in pressure, resulting in a smaller
drag force like above the transition Reynolds number.

Fewer Barriers: Forex trading is much easier than stocks, options, or futures. It has fewer
barriers to entry and it also does not involve high operating and entry costs. Online forex brokers
offer both Mini and Macro trading accounts allowing you to start with smaller accounts.
However, it is not advisable to open a forex account with bare minimum money but it makes it
easy for people to invest who do not have a huge startup capital. Opportunity for Learning: Unlike

decided to make the trade then you can focus on managing the risk. It is important to understand
and know the exact amount of risk to manage it efficiently. It is significant to draw a line as your

Scalia argues that the Constitution should not be interpreted too strictly or too leniently, but
reasonably. Scalia argues that being a textualist is essentially interpreting the Constitution for what
it says, not what they think it was trying to say. Scalia believes that interpreting the Constitution for
what the framers meant it to say. However, he also believed that being a good textualist required
not being too literal. If someone simply takes everything the Constitution says as gospel with no
form of interpretation at all then it would constrict progress. The world today is extremely different
compared to the world that the framers lived in when they wrote the Constitution. Which is why the
sweet spot of textualism has to be found, not too literal and not too lenient either. Scalia also brings
forth a counter to the argument against textualism, the one which he claims to be the most
mindless, and that is that textualism is formalistic. Scalia says that of course it is formalistic
because law revolves around formalism. Formalism is what makes a government a government of
laws and not of men, says Scalia. Textualism is what Scalia based his interpretation of the
Constitution and statutes on and this is quite evident in many of his famous opinions

Shooting A Bow Lab Report
Shooting a bow largely involves the use of the upper extremity. Between the needs of stabilization
and torque, many muscles in the upper extremity are utilized to perform an effective shot.
However, the lower extremity is also involved in bow shooting mechanics. Muscles in the lower
extremity perform both concentric and eccentric contractions to stabilize the body during all phases
of shooting a bow. Therefore, shooting a bow involves complex contractions of muscles throughout
the body. In the next few pages the jointsand the muscular involvement of the shoulder, elbow, and
wristduring bow shooting will be discussed in depth.
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, the involvement of the upper extremity will be discussed
in detail as it relates to its function in the action of shooting a bow. The shoulder plays a huge role
in drawing the bow and keeping the string pulled back. The joints of the shoulder are vital when
performing these actions. The joints involved include: the sternoclavicular joint, ... Show more

We Needs Energy For A Successful Existence Essay
Introduction
The humanity needs energy for a successful existence. However, the amount of fossil fuel is
decreasing every day. Proved global reserves of oil and gas, at current rates of consumption, would
be adequate to meet demand for another 40 and 60 years, respectively. Moreover, using of
traditional sources of energy causes the greenhouse gases emission. These gases keep heat energy
of electromagnetic waves at lower atmosphere. The process that produces this difference between
the actual surface temperature and the effective temperature is due to the atmosphere and is known
as the greenhouse effect.
One of the main consumers of fossil fuel and source of the greenhouse gases is buildings. The
solution of this problem is upgrade our houses; make them smarter, environmentally friendly and
effective. Moreover, the smart homes will have many devices, which will replace the big part of
routine tasks, and life of people will be much easier. (Stephene S. Intille, 2006). Governments
support the building of eco buildings, because they emit less carbon dioxide. For example, in the
UK it planned to reduce emissions by 2050 (DECC 2011, 30). Moreover, building of eco houses
will improve IT and alternative energy technologies. This paper will argue that building of eco
houses is the best way of future architecture and building technologies.
At this research project, I used basic criteria. First of them is economic benefits for average income
people. Second criteria is the degree of

Band Is More Than Just Playing An Instrument Essay
Band Is More Than Just Playing an Instrument
I have been asked many times by my friends that aren t in band why are you in band? Get out of
band so we can be in the stands together during the game. band is lame, They do not understand
what band is really about. Band is not just about playing an instrument and marching. I started
band in the 6th grade, I honestly thought that I wasn t going to make it to my senior year, but
here I am a senior in band. I am not forced to be in band I can get out at anytime anyday, but I
choose not to. It is hard when you are marching and it feels like 100+ degrees. You feel like you
want to pass out, but you just have to suck it up and be tough. Throughout the years I have been
in band I have created friendships. I have my closest friends in band. I have created many
memories in band that will last a lifetime, that I will share one day with my kids. I do not know
what I would do without band. Getting in band has been the best decision I have ever made. Band
has been the highlight of my high school years. One of the scariest moments I have experienced in
band was when we messed up at U.I.L. contest, I was terrified I did not want us to make a 2, it all
happened so fast. It was time to get our results, we made a 1, I was so happy. The judges said that
if you were to close your eyes and listening to us, you would not know we messed up. We never
stopped playing and we recovered so fast, we were so matured when this happened. Band takes up

following text, Release Your Inner Child With Capri Sun Organic. Below that the smaller text

Lastly, there s pathos. Pathos appeals to emotion. Most of this ad is in an attempt to create a
certain mood. First of all, both the models in the ad are happy supposedly because of Capri Sun
Organic. Also, the slogan Unleash Your Inner Child, is an illusion to happier and less stressful
times when all we were doing was having fun. All the allusions to health also make the consumer
feel good about their choice to drink the product. Plus, if people feel good about the product they
re more likely to buy it. In short, everything in this ad is used to create an association between
Capri Sun Organic and health and happiness.
The first advertising technique use is transfer. Transfer is everywhere from the smiling faces of
the models to the use of words like, Organic, Healthier, Tastier, Better, and New. All these words
have positive connotations and images associated with them, which helps give consumers a
positive outlook on the product. Another technique used is weasel words. New Capri Sun Organic
Healthier, Tastier, and Better Than Ever, is misleading. For one it s subjective. While someone
may think it s healthier or tastier, another person may disagree. Also, there is no proof that it is
actually tastier or healthier. Another technique used is facts and figures. Facts and figures can be

  • 2. A Brief Report On Fossil Fuels Executive Summary Fossil fuels are used as a main source of energy all over the world, including Canada. The burning of fossil fuels is the world s leading source of emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is one of the greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. In residential construction, Canada has become aware of the effects of fossil fuels and is adopting a new way of building with an environmentally friendly green approach using Geothermal Energy Pump Systems. In residential homes, Geothermal Energy Pumps are systems that can achieve exact functions of standard convection systems without the harmful effects of fossil fuels. These systems will significantly lower the amount of energy required to heat a home, leading to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our cities are growing and so is our rate of power consumption. Luckily for us there is an alternative to traditional HVACsystems. Geothermal technology uses a piping system (commonly called a loop ) filled with water installed underground that absorbs the heat from solar energy stored just below the earth s surface [2]. Geothermal HVAC systems differentiate themselves from common systems as they do not burn fossil fuel to generate heat [3]. They do, however, use minimal electricity to power the pump to circulate water through the piping system, but compared to current HVAC methods three to five units of energy are supplied as heat for every one unit used to power the system. During the summer the system essentially functions in the opposite manner by absorbing the heat in your home and transferring it back into the earth [4]. In this report the reader can learn about the current practices and the alternatives for residential HVAC systems, the technology limitations of this method and its trends, and a conclusion. Current Practices and Alternatives Current Practices Convectional Heating and Cooling System Gas Furnaces and Air Conditioning System The traditional and widely common way to heat and cool a home is with the use of a gas furnace and an air conditioning unit. Traditionally, this was done immediately after harvest; today, pods are sometimes first stored whole for a few days to prime them for fermentation. Fermenting begins when the beans come into contact with the air. Here, a workrt uses a stick to gauge the depth of the mass in a vara, or measuring box, to determine the wage of the harvester, before transferring it to the fermentation bin. During fermentation, the pulp disintegrates, producing steamy heat and a pervasive, yeasty, sour smell. It is at this point that the beans first develop thier complex characteristics. Drying of the beans after fermentation is done on slatted wooden trays in the open air. The beans are spread out evenly and raked periodically so that they dry uniformly. As the beans dry, their colors deepen, turning them into a carpet of sepia, umber, and mocha. Aeration of the dried beans during storage is important to prevent the formation of mold. A worker tosses beans with a shovel to expose them evenly to the air. Grading of the beans is done mechanically at the larger farms; smaller producers do it by hand. From baskets, the dried beans are transferred to burlap bags and transported to local selling stations, where they may be bought by large companies for export. Arriving at the chocolate mills, the beans undergo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Fear Of Fear Essay Since a young age, I always had a fear of heights and so when I was asked to take part in jumping off a bridge (bungee jumping) in South Africa, my natural reaction was to say no, and that is exactly what I did. But while others were getting ready for the jump I asked myself one question; why am I scared of heights. I knew I had to face it one day. It was in a fight of flight situation and so, on the spur of the moment I decided fight. It was a decision I have never regretted even though minutes before the jumpI was very scared. As I leaped of the bridge I felt like I was on the top of the world. Adrenalin flowed in my body like blood. I felt alive. To this day I cannot forget the incident. • 5. Empiricism and Experience Empiricism Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience. How can one know what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would someone know that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is red, but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure? Empiricists use three anchor points in which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points is; the only source of genuine knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to compare the mind to a clean sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of everything it touches. Without this, the sponge would remain clean and be void of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second epistemological question is; does reason provide us with knowledge of the world independently of experience? John Locke says the answer to this question is no. He uses arguments discussed in the third anchor point of empiricism to support this idea. Locke does not believe that reason alone can provide knowledge because we do not possess innate knowledge that we are not aware of. To best describe this Locke proposes this model: Suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters, without any ideas; how comes it to be furnished? When man has painted on it with endless variety, how does it have all the materials of reason and knowledge to this question I answer, in one word, from experience. In that all our knowledge is founded, and from that, it ultimately drives itself (p94). Therefore, without these experiences Locke believes that we would not possess the concept of reason and because of that reason alone cannot provide us knowledge of the world. Berkeley s answer to the second question is no as well. He believed that it was only through experience and not reason that we have any knowledge of reality. Since our experiences differ from each individual, reality too will differ for each individual. These ideas as he calls them are the concrete contents of our minds. These ideas are provided through experience and not reason. Therefore, we can not posses knowledge through our reasoning because that reasoning would be based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Problem Of Arson Investigation Arson investigation began sometime in the mid 1970 s, and has been a process changed and evolved ever since. The act of arson consists of purposely setting or starting a fire on someone s property, and can be for a number of reasons anywhere from vandalism, excitement or serial arson, to revenge, extremism or crime concealment (Newton, M., 15). Some previously proven indicators pointing as to whether or not a fireis an act of arson has been questioned, further researched and tested. Many of these theories have stated that certain markings, post fire, could only appear due an accelerant being used to help engage the fire or intensify it, though recently many of these theories have been debunked. The truth behind some of these markings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most misleading processes that can lead to a wrongful conviction is a term called flashover. Flashover is what seemingly happens when an entire room is engulfed in fire, and flames protrude from openings within the building. The process occurs in an enclosed space when particles and combustible gases begin to cluster close to the ceiling, and then slowly fall towards the floor. At this point, it is likely that an accumulation of air would rush into the room through windows, doors or other cavities, and ignite the muddle of particles and gases (Starr, 2011). As this process was not realized until later when arson investigation became more developed, many explanations as to whether an accelerant was used to start a fire have been recently proven to be more than likely due to the effects of a flashover. Some of these beliefs were that melted metals, especially those in or near doorways, burn marks under pieces of furniture, or on the floor were a sure sign that a liquid accelerant was used to start the fire. Detectives believed melted metals were a sign of a liquid accelerant because they thought that temperatures high enough to melt these types of metals were unattainable without an accelerant. In reality, wood fires commonly reach and exceed the melting point of metals, especially once they hit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After Reformation period, the allegorical biblical interpretation was criticized and rejected by contemporary biblical interpretation theory, and a lot of Christian evangelical churches. However, as a long tradition stems from the early church, allegorical interpretation has never been disappeared; on the contrary, it was one the most important exegesis tradition in the history of Chinese Protestant Church. Many fundamentalist theologians and church leaders were influenced by it, while Jia Yuming is one of the representative figures. This paper attempts to explain the characteristic of Jia Yuming` s allegorical biblical interpretation, and to explore the contribution of his exegesis in Chinese Christian theology. Jia Yuming`s allegorical interpretation was influenced by several theological schools. He graduated from Presbyterian seminary, and had reformed theology background, then he influenced by pietistic theology and Charismatic movement, and then turned to allegorical exegesis. In this paper, we will use Jia Yuming` s interpretation of Exodus and Song of Solomon as an example to analyze its characteristics. Exodus had a lot of narrative and laws, and was allegorical explained by Jia Yuming. Song of Solomon is the most difficult book to interpret and often be interpreted as an allegory. 1. Clearly, as a society, we would want to encourage the development of technology so that we can reap the benefits they offer us. • 16. The Technique of Grafting in Agriculture I. INTRODUCTION The technique of grafting dates back to the beginning of agriculture. Although it can be labor intensive, grafting has continued to be used in fruit and nut trees because of the immense benefits. Different plants produce different qualities of fruits and nuts, and not always consistently. And, because tree fruits are nearly impossible to reproduce from cuttings, grafting has become the most popular technique for fruit tree propagation. Grafting helps to produce a superior and highly valued crop (Hartmann, Kester, Davies, Geneve, 2011). New markets continue to require grafted and budded plants for improved plant quality, fruit yield, superior forms, and better adaptation to greater ecological ranges (Hartmann et al. 2011). This paper will take a closer look at the technique of grafting, where it originated from, its developments over time, and the impact it has had on agriculture. II. DEFINITION Grafting can be described as the natural or deliberate fusion of plant parts so that vascular continuity is established between them and the resulting genetically composite organism functions as a single plant (Mudge, Janick, Scofield, Goldschmidt, 2009). The law of conservation of mass. 2. How to calculate an empirical formula. 3. The concept of limiting reagents. Introduction Synthesis and the determination of empirical formulas are two extremely important parts of chemistry. In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula. The molecular formula gives the actual number of atoms of each element in the molecule and the empirical formula gives the lowest whole number ratio of the atoms in the molecule. For instance, the molecular formula of glucose is C6H12O6 and its empirical formula is CH2O. For some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively. Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are multiple oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and oxygen form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two. When naming a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two possibilities [copper(I) oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide]. Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by mass experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass. Following the procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest number, results in a mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the lowest whole number that converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is Fe3O4. As iron has two oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3. Anytime a result that is inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step should be to recheck all the data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a known compound often called magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this compound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kahn emerged from the Beaux Arts movement but became one of the foremost American Modernist architects of the 1950 s and 60 s (Kimball, 1990). The Yale University Art Gallery, designed by Kahn, has an intimate studio feel as employed at the Museum of Modern Art (Binns, 2004 p. 17). • 25. Qualities of an Effective Teacher What it means to be an effective teacher Introduction An effective teacher is someone who increases the understanding of a pupil. Effective teaching is the ability of providing instructions to students of varying abilities while incorporating instructional objectives and assessing the effective education form of students. In the evaluation of performance, efficiency on the lesson plan and technique of delivery forms form part of the criteria taken into consideration. The teacher s practices that ensure the higher level of assessment and active participation are most successful. This outdo all the factors, such as size of the class, socioeconomic conditions and gender (Sullivan 2001). The most significant aspect that gears a student to perform well is the teachers details of classroom practices as demonstrated in one of the video links Pre primary: Science Mini Beasts . They must have sufficient familiarity with the techniques and methods associated with their career and must certify that the pupil learning must develop over the course of the year (Sullivan 2001). Majorly presumed methods of quantifying teacher effectiveness include pupils work, teacher s assessments, and lesson plans. An effective teacher employs creativity in the classroom. It is both necessary to the student and teacher. Creativity involves qualities like imagination, originality, and self expression. • 27. A Dynamic Model Of Resource Allocation Program portfolios within a budget constraint are a vital challenge in the management of new product development. Most favorable portfolios are not easy to deп¬Ѓne because of the combinatorial density of project combinations. However, at the collective level of the strategic allocation of resources across product lines, investment in a program is not an all or nothing decision, but can be adjusted, resulting in a higher or lower program beneп¬Ѓt (e.g., higher or lower quality). In some cases, resources can be adjusted even for individual projects. With this insight, one can use marginal analysis to optimally allocate the scarce budget. This article develops a dynamic model of resource allocation, taking into account multiple interacting factors, such as independent or correlated, uncertain market payoffs that change over time, increasing or decreasing returns from the investment, carry over of the investment beneп¬Ѓt over multiple periods, and interactions across market segments. We characterize optimal policies in closed form and derive qualitative decision rules for managers. (Roussel et al. 1991, Cooper et al. 1998). Projects represent a growing proportion of human activity in large, small, private or public organizations. Projects are used to execute and sustain today s organizational activities. For some this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem begins with a simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an individual goes in another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a weight to be lifted? Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or benefits that are the result of a dream that goes unachieved. Therefore, to better understand how to use these two approaches, it is better to first discuss them briefly and have a better understanding of what they are. The Black Panther Party would later gain wide recognition after their protest at the California State Capitol where Bobby Seale read the Executive Mandate Number One in 1967 (Seale 348). After Eldridge Cleaver joined the party, he suggested they change the group s name from the Black Panther Party for Self Defense to the Black Panther Party. Cleaver believed it was time for the party to lessen its emphasis on self defense against police, or rather, to increase its emphasis on the other points of the program (Harris 167). One of the most notable achievements of the Black Panther Party was their Free Breakfast for School Children program, started in San Francisco and Oakland, California in January of 1969 (Harris 168). The Black Panther Party started several free health clinics to deal with the lack of access to medical attention in poverty stricken communities The party also organized buses to prison due to the extremely high number of incarcerated black people, as well as free clothing and shoe programs for those who couldn t afford them (Harris 168). The party was able to achieve moderate success on their fourth point. They organized and led rent strikes which resulted in tenant ownership of buildings (Harris 171). This was in response to tenants who had previously been subjected to inhumane living conditions and rent abuse by landlords. United States 1928 Olmstead v.United States Supreme court rules federal investigators can wiretap into suspects phones legally, and use those conversations as evidence. Roy Olmstead, a suspected bootlegger, was bugged in the basement of his office, and also in the streets surrounding his home. He was later convicted based on that evidence. An appeal was raised on the grounds that the wiretapped data violated the defendant s Fourth and Fifth Amendment. It was decided that the wiretapped data did not violate the Fifth Amendment, because he was not forced to say anything incriminating, and did not violate the Fourth Amendment because wiretapping is not considered search and seizure (which would require a physical search of a person s belongings or possessions.) This event is important because it decided that wiretapping was legal and did not infringe on the Fourth or Fifth Amendment rights of criminals, effectively allowing wiretapping to be used in investigation and trial as evidence. In addition, it defined your Fourth Amendment rights to only apply to physical materials or properties of yours, not conversations or other non tangible things, and said that since wiretapped individuals were not forced to discuss incriminating information, the Fifth Amendment protection against self incrimination did not apply. It set a major precedent that would stand for nearly forty years, when it was overturned in Katz v. United States. 1945 The predecessor to the NSA receives copies of every ... The boundary layer is a thin layer of air which lies closely to the surface of the body in motion, and within this layer the adverse pressure gradient is crated which causes the separation of flow. When the Reynolds numbers are low, the boundary is smooth and called laminar. Moreover, using of traditional sources of energy causes the greenhouse gases emission. These gases keep heat energy of electromagnetic waves at lower atmosphere. The process that produces this difference between the actual surface temperature and the effective temperature is due to the atmosphere and is known as the greenhouse effect.
