The Importance Of Religious Holiday Observances In Schools
A religious holiday observance can be defined as: a worship service or ceremony of any kind,
religious holiday exhibits/displays, the enactment of a religious drama, wearing religious items, and
even the presentation of religious music and singing religious holiday hymns. Despite these guidelines
and intentions of administration, sectarian holiday observances during Christmas and Easter still tend
to take place in schools across the country. There can be multiple causes for this though. First of all,
many teachers may not know or understand the court decisions and how to apply them within their
classrooms. Clearly by these laws, you should not display religious symbols like the cross, however,
few people are aware of the fact that courts are also concerned with the timing, context, and grade
levels that are involved in these classroom programs. For example, if there is a grade wide holiday
music production that has a Christmas hymn, they might get questions like What song will be sung?
Where will it take place? What is the purpose of this within the curriculum? And what effect will
singing them have on the students as well as the audience? As an educator I have not really thought
about Christmas music as a whole in the classroom. I m sure that a music teacher is more aware of it,
but as a general teacher I wouldn t have even thought about playing Christmas music in the classroom
as being a controversial thing until now. That leads me into my next point that teachers may

Advantages And Disadvantages Of State Civil Services
State Civil Services (SCS) also known as Provincial Civil Services (PCS) corresponds to
Administrative Services in state government. Every State Public Service Commission carries out a
competitive examination usually every year for recruitment to the Provincial Civil Services.
Note: In some States the examination is not conducted every year. In such States the candidates may
have to remain prepared for longer durations and to grab the opportunity when it comes their way.
Candidates selected through PCS Examinations are meant to choose from following categories
State Civil Services, Class I (SCS)
State Police Service, Class I (SPS)

The number of vacancies being limited, the examination offers a tough competition to the aspirants
and only the candidates with thorough preparations may expect to be successful.
Scheme of Examination
The pattern of this examination is similar to the civil services examination conducted by the UPSC.
Most of the bigger States follow the practice of holding a preliminary examination to short list the
candidates. Preliminary examination is almost on the lines of preliminary examination for the civil
services examination conducted by the UPSC, with the exception that a few questions may be asked
about the custom, traditions, planning and problems of the State concerned.
The smaller States with relatively lesser number of vacancies and lesser candidates may skip the
preliminary examination. The Centre s for examination are determined by the concerned public
service commission considering the geographical area of the State and the number of candidates
taking the examination. Preliminary examination is followed by the main examination (Smaller States
usually go in for main examination

Keep And Bear Arms
Does the Second Amendment Protect Individual Rights to Keep and Bear Arms After reviewing the
Supreme Court ruling in the case of District of Columbia vs. Heller (2008) and the wording of the
Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, I firmly believe the amendment protects the individual
right to keep and bear arms. Within the ruling, definitions from 1773 edition of Samuel Johnson s
dictionary were used to clarify meanings (at the time of the founding, which holds the same meaning
now) and helped form the decision. The Second Amendment conferred an individual right to keep and
bear arms, although the right is not unlimited. In the case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Handgun
possession is banned under District of Columbia law. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Supreme Court answered a constitutional question about whether the right to keep and bear arms is an
individual right unconnected to service in the militia or a collective right that applies only to state
regulated militias. The Court held that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess
firearms for lawful use, such as self defense, in the home. It struck provisions of a D.C. law that (1)
effectively banned possession of handguns by non law enforcement officials and (2) required lawfully
owned firearms to be kept unloaded, disassembled, or locked when not located at a business place or
being used for lawful recreational activities, as unconstitutional. A range of gun control laws remain
presumptively lawful, according to the Court. These include, but not necessarily limited to, laws that
(1) prohibit carrying concealed weapons, (2) prohibit gun possession by felons or the mentally
retarded, (3) prohibit carrying firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings,
(4) impose conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms, (5) prohibit dangerous and
unusual weapons, and (6) regulate firearm storage to prevent accidents. Justice Scalia wrote the
majority opinion. He was joined by Justices Alito, Kennedy, Roberts, and Thomas. Justices Stevens
and Breyer filed separate dissenting opinions. After an extensive review of the Second Amendment
text and historical record, Scalia concluded that the individual right interpretation is supported by (1)
the historical record; (2) the amendment s drafting history; and (3) interpretations of the amendment
by scholars, courts, and legislators through the late nineteenth century (Rose,

Compare And Contrast Soccer And American Football
Soccer and American Football are two popular games in the world. Soccer is known by the most
popular sport in the world and American Football is known by being America s most favorite
sport. While soccer and American football are somewhat alike they have major differences that make
both sports a unique and enjoyable for everyone to play. Both sports made me ask of the differences
between each other. As i choose Soccer and American Football i thought about their backgouns, well
soccer is called an association football or more commonly simply football in most of the
world.Football and soccer both have a lot of difference but also some similes but today i will just be
talking about the difference between both sports. I will be contrasting how they played different, What
are the uniforms they wear, and finally i will be contrasting the different equipment between the both.
This two sports are dangerous but if you play it like it has to be played you will be in a great shape.
This are sports that are meant to be challengeable for each player. Both sports are a great part of

Guildsmen In The Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales Guildsmen From Chaucer s knowledge about the Guildsmen are that they are
worthy, Smart, and Wealthy but, he doesn t approve of the way the Guildsmen treat the people. Based
off the story the guildsmen were somewhere around there mid 40 s also they were still members of the
working people. Even though they worked a lot they still keep up with the latest fashion with the
others (pg. 154 they were so trim and fresh their gear would pass for new ). All the Guildsmen were
told to wear all the same piece of clothes and most expensive jewelry that includes belts, Bags, etc.
(pg. 154 which avouches a display on girdles and on pouches). Also the Guildsmen sat on top of their
horses different than everybody else, because of the entitlement of being a part of a union making the
guildsmen feel like they re better than others around them. They sat with their back straight, eyes
forward worrying about nobody but there self, making sure that everybody seen the expensive clothes
and jewelry they had on. Also they probably walked different from everybody else they walked like
they were just untouchable (pg.154 all in the livery of one impressive guild fraternity ). ... Show more

Compare Noah And Tower Of Babel
De creation
After God created everything, and determined that it was very good , humanity fell from grace. The
fall can be seen in 4 stories, which are Original Sin, Cain and Abel, Noah s Ark and Tower of Babel.
First, the original sin. God allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree except the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil located in the Garden of Eden. The serpent enticed Eve to eat from the
forbidden tree. Eve gave the fruit from the tree to Adam and they both ate it. The story Adam and
Christ relates to the original story because after people sin in both story, they got punishments from
God. In this story, even one man s trespass might get death as a punishment. The story is relevant to us
today because nowadays, in our world. There are many temptation that leads us to the wrong path and
evil, we should always listen to God and think twice before our action or we would end up like Adam
and Eve.
Next is the story of Cain and Abel, they were the first two sons of Adam and Eve. They both offered
something to God, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

God spared Noah and his family. Noah had a wife and three son called Shem, Ham and Japheth. God
told Noah to build an ark for his family and two of each kind of species. The Ark took 120 years to
build and it rained for 40 days. It floated for 150 days before resting on the mountain of Ararat. God
promised Noah that the earth will never be destroyed by flood again. This promise is known as a
covenant. The references relates to the original story because both story we learn that God can do
anything. Anything that may not be possible for us human kind or mortal to do, it is possible for God
to do so. The story is relevant to us today because we should follow the Ten Commandments.
However, if we do not do so, we should confess our sins or else God will provided a way of

Germ Theory Of Disease By Robert Koch And Louis Pasteur
Introduction
In the nineteenth century, two famous scientists Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur formally
demonstrated that microorganisms were the cause of many diseases. This proposition has become
known as Germ Theory of Disease . Not that this notion had never been touched before on the
contrary, there have been ancient mentions as old as 36 BC from a roman scholar, Marcus Terentius
Varro, that stated: certain minute creatures, which cannot be seen by the eyes, which float in the air
and enter the body through the mouth and nose, and there cause serious diseases . The concept of
Germ Theory of Disease suffered a major overturn in the twentieth century, when Metchnikoff showed
that microorganisms could also act as beneficial agents and health promoters. Was there then launched
the basis for what we now call probiotics. Thus, today we know we are, one way or the other, vastly
colonized by microorganisms. It is certainly clear that these microorganisms are present forming
heterogeneous and specific communities over large body surfaces. These colonization processes occur
primarily on skin, vagina and the gastrointestinal tract.
Even so, our body has a remarkable ability to protect itself against microbial invasions. Within the
human body resides a salient protection mechanism called immune system prepared to defend the
body against millions of bacteria, viruses, toxins and parasites. However, how does the immune
system enable the body to accept a vast amount of

Lydia Bennet
The Regency Era in England was an interesting period of time, ruled by elegance and etiquette with
definitive social classes. Women and men both wanted to marry rich, and this left some young women
hungry for a wealthy husband, or just a husband at all. This type of girl is characterized in the novel
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, through the character of Lydia Bennet. She is the fifth Bennet
daughter, automatically acquiring the title of the youngest Bennet daughter. Her behavior is not
tentative when it comes to interacting with men, and she is very naive to the emotions of others.
Through the use of the spoiled youngest child stock character Austen showcases the satirical behavior
of young women in their tenacious control over their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is especially evident in the situation when she elopes with Wickham, a malicious man, and brags
about it to her family. During Lydia s brief stay at the Bennet household following her marriage, she
speaks with confidence when she says that her sisters should be jealous of her marriage, and she
wishes they have half [her] good luck in finding a husband (269). This statement is extremely ironic,
because Lydia s large ego inhibits her ability to see Wickham s true character. She does not know how
boorishly he acted towards Mr. Darcy, how much money he lost gambling, or how hated he is in his
home town. Lydia cannot make a clear minded decision and evaluate how her elopement will affect
family, let alone her own life. Pride also gets in the way, and her childish mindset only see how
eloping with Wickham will result in her being the first Bennet daughter to marry, and in her mind,
making her the best and most mature Bennet daughter. Lydia will never understand the money and
sacrifice it took for her uncle to negotiate with Wickham to make him actually marry Lydia instead of
taking advantage of her. She will never understand how miserable her life, and her family s life could
have been if it weren t for her uncle to clean up the mess she made from her immature and
spontaneous

Causes And Effects Of Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy was a massive hurricane that formed in the Caribbean, and affected 24 states on the
east coast of the United States. The hurricane killed 203 people in total, destroying everything in its
path, and leaving many people homeless. Hurricanes are often measured on a scale of categories 1 to
5, with a category 1 having winds of around 80 km/h, and a category 5 having winds of over 250
km/h. Hurricane Sandy was only a category 2 hurricane, but it s massive size gave it momentum, and
allowed it to travel a longer distance. The winds went over 130 kilometers per hour, and water levels
flooded over 9 feet. The hurricane hit hard up north, where it devastated cities with flooding, extensive
building damage, and power outages for millions of people before it stopped. Hurricane Sandy began
near Florida, and worked it s way all the way up north. The physical geography changes as the
hurricane moved north. In the Caribbean, it is relatively warm year round, and is mostly surrounded
by water. Further up north, the water and temperature gets colder. The elevation is fairly close to sea
level and there aren t many mountains or hilly terrain. Hurricanes occur over low pressure areas above
warm water. They fuel off warm water vapour that is evaporated over the ocean, and slowly die as the
water gets colder. This would justify Hurricane Sandy s path, as it began near Caribbean, where the air
is moist and the water is warm, providing plenty of fuel

The Truth About Stories By Thomas King
In the book, the Truth About Stories, Thomas King sheds light on the power of stories. King explicitly
enforces that one must take caution in the way he or she tells a story, since it will shape one s
thoughts, decision making and future (2). Through the use of literature, King weaves his way through
native history, anecdote by anecdote, informing his readers about the importance of storytelling.
Stories are wondrous things, the author writes. And they are dangerous. (9). To prove this, King
mentions two creation stories; the differences in these stories is the way in which they are told. The
first is a famous native story called, the woman who fell from the sky ; this story is told in a complex,
persuasive way (10 20). This story discusses a society emphasizing the value of cooperation as the
animals work together to create a better world (21 22). The second story, a Judeo Christian biblical
story, describes a Western Capitalist society. It is told in a historical, punitive and direct fashion,
underlining a society of boundaries and punishment. King highlights that storytelling is not just simply
telling a story, rather it is how the stories are told. King uses these particular stories to show how
different stories shape people s perspectives, which impacts their ideas, thoughts and decision making.
Therefore he addresses how sensitive storytelling may be, for once a story is told, it can never be
taken back (10). This is true in all realms of life, cautioning

Roosevelt went from being the 33rd governor of NY, to the vice president, and at 42 years of age, he

second term. Even though he achieved all these great things, there were surly challenges that laid in
his path to greatness. The challenges that Roosevelt faced he overcame through perseverance and

I Believe that Piracy Should Be Legal
1. I strongly believe that piracy should be legal. To begin with, the overseeing of private distribution is
regulated without set standards and guidelines, almost arbitrarily, and only exists because there exists
the assumption that piracy negatively impacts the people that put in work to produce the goods or
services in question. From the business standpoint, the driving stance behind those that are against
piracy is that piracy is equated to stealing. This is an unreasonable fallacy when it comes to online
piracy. It is understandable in the real world, using a car as an example, if you steal a car; the original
is no longer there. However, if you were to pirate a movie or a textbook, it is still available for
purchase from the creator. Parallels cannot be drawn between online piracy and the real world.
Additionally, many multiplayer computer games on the internet are free to play, and the video game
industry is thriving. The flagship example would be in the case of Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones
is the most pirated object that exists on the internet, and the creators of the show are proud to
announce that more than half of its audience watches the show illegally. Given this information, HBO
(the network that owns Games of Thrones) still made more revenue during the last quarter of the 2013
year than its biggest competitor (Netflix) and that s with Netflix having a larger customer pool and no
problems with piracy. Chances are, if one is going to pirate something, they

Abortion Thesis Essay

Thesis
Abortion is a totally unacceptable, cruel and unethical practice and
should be considered illegal except under some special cases and medical
circumstances that indicate a danger to the mother. Our judicial system
must consider the ethical and moral aspects of abortion as an intrinsic
part of the problem when approaching this social issue. The recent banning
of the partial birth abortion is a huge stride in the positive direction.
Introduction
Abortion is the one of the most debated social issues of this
century. The controversy as to the right that man has over the life of a
baby in the fetus and in controlling its entry into the world is a much

Furthermore they argue that the

Pro Life
On the other hand we have the Pro life group, which opines that
abortion in any form to be an unacceptable and inhuman practice and nothing
short of brutal murder and infringement of the rights of the baby in the
fetus. The Pro life group views the problem from an entirely different
perspective. This group considers that life begins as soon as the baby is
conceived and hence abortion is viewed as a breach of rights of the baby.
However the group approves abortion as the last and only resort in cases of
emergency wherein the life of both the baby and the mother or at least one

Value Of Education In America
Education in America is highly valued, but are kids being educated in today s age in the right way?
There are arguments about how different schools have certain methods of teaching that no school is
the same. Kids that go from K 12 are always drilled into believing that they have two options to either
work hard and go to college for a degree, or to fail and not get anywhere and end up working low
paying jobs. Traditional views of schooling are affecting kids and there must be a more positive
solution to fix that. The educational system must address the issues on how kids that go from k 12 are

individuals in the realization of success. He took a personal interest in all of his followers by paying
attention to their concerns and mentoring them (Alef 2009). He encouraged two way communications
between him and his followers to allow the people to express their views. He tolerated differences
among the employees and delegated most of the work to others. This leadership style is important as it
takes into consideration individual views of every person and makes the employees feel valued (Eeden
et al. 2008). Globalization has led to the establishment of multinational companies that draw their
employees from different backgrounds. There is need for leaders to understand their followers and
tolerate their differences for the success of the entire team. Hilton also inspired his followers towards
the attainment of common goals through a shared vision. He gave the employees a sense of belonging
by motivating them to continuously focus on company goals. His wide experience in politics, military,
and the entrepreneurial skills that he learned at his father`s store was a great inspiration to his
subordinates. The Hilton employees viewed Conrad as a role model due to the high moral standards

Divinity Of Love Essay
Once a week, the fan runs away from home and attends the stadium. Flags flicker, rattles sound,
rockets, drums, rain snakes and paper cut; the city disappears, the routine is forgotten, there is only
one existing location, the temple. In this sacred space, the only religion that does not have atheists
exhibits its divinities. Although the fan can contemplate the miracle, more comfortably, on the TV
screen, he prefers to undertake the pilgrimage to this place where he can see his angels in flesh and
blood, fighting a duel against the demons of the day and explains, How will you know what love is if
you never became a fan of a club. How will you know what pain is if the defender never broke your

How are you going to know what injustice is if you never got a red card from a localist referee? Tell
me ... how will you know what insomnia is if you never went to second division? How will you know
what hatred is if you never scored an own goal? How are you going to know, dear friend, how are you
going to know what life is if you never played football before . Here, the fan shakes the handkerchief,
swallows, gulp , swallows poison, eats the cap, whispers prayers and curses and suddenly breaks his
throat in an ovation and jumps like a flea, hugging the stranger who shouts the goal at his side. While
the pagan mass lasts, the fans are many. With thousands of devotees he shares the certainty that we are
the best, all the referees are sold, all the rivals are cheaters. Rarely does the fan say, Today my club
plays . Rather it says, Today we play. Well known is this player number twelve that it is he who blows
the winds of fervor that push the ball when she falls asleep, as the other eleven players know that
playing without fans is like dancing without music. When the match concludes, the fan, who has not
moved from the rostrum, celebrates his victory; what a contest, what a game, what a show... What a
beating we gave them, or their defeat cries; We were once again swindled, The damn ref deprived us
from the victory, thief. And then the sun goes away and the fan goes away. The shadows fall on the

The Crucial Role Of Music In The Elizabethan Era
Have you ever wished you could go back in time to see what music was like? Well, while writing this
research paper, I did by learning what music was like back in the Elizabethan Era. In the Elizabethan
Era, music played a crucial role. Music was very important because a lot of it was played, which
fulfilled the lives of the people, and it influenced some people to make and sell music. Music also
gave people joy, which entertained them and made them happy.
Music back in the Elizabethan era was very important for mainly one reason, it gave people
entertainment. One of the ways that music was used for entertainment was in theatres, which was what
influenced music. As stated in go.galegroup.com, Music was also used to accompany the plays that
had become a popular form of entertainment in the Elizabethan Era . In the Elizabethan Era Music

As stated in one book, Music was everywhere, in the home, at court, on the stage, at church
(Ashby,43). Since music was pretty much played everywhere, it made music become more popular,
which made more people begin to play or listen to it. Music also made people very happy because
there was not just one type of music, there was many. As stated in go.galegroup.com, There were
different types of music, church, street, house musicians and theatre music . Lastly, people were very
happy because music provided a variety of uses. As stated in go.galegroup.com, Music was essential
at court as the queen was a patron of composers and musicians. At court many forms of music was
played, including traditional English ballads, church music, dance music and madrigals . This shows
the importance of music because music would not be that popular if it only had one use. To conclude,

Relationships With The Mandans By Thomas Jefferson
Relationships with the Mandans
Thomas Jefferson had just expanded the United States territory immensely. This purchase was known
as the Louisiana Purchase, which is arguably the best decision in US history. All the new land resulted
in several unknown questions. Some of them were, what does this land provide, what animals are out
there, who can be found on this land? To answer some of these mysterious questions Jefferson sent
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the Louisiana Purchase. They also were sent to form
learn and form relationships with the people all ready on the land they are about to explore. One of
their stops on their journey was at what now is known as Fort Mandan, in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Here is where Lewis and Clark s relationship with the Mandan tribe was crucial because their next
steps have never been explored by whites. Only the Indians knew what the land looked like from
North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean. The Mandan tribe was able to show the explorers areas of the land
that was just bought by the United States of America. Between both the white explorers and the
Mandan tribe they both benefited from their relationships they formed over the winter months of 1804
because Lewis and Clark did not anticipate spending the winter in North Dakota.
Seasons have changed and the Missouri river was starting to freeze over; this caused Lewis and Clarks
exploration to halt for the winter. The explorers were able to find a camping site on the North

An Advanced Business Degree Essay
Three Pillars Essay
There has been a number of years between completing my bachelor s of science in engineering and
my pursuit of an MBA degree. What began as a one year break from school turned into marriage,
raising a family and all of the responsibilities that accompany life. Nevertheless, the desire never left
me and the opportunity to pursue this degree has been one of the best decisions I have made. Although
my background is in engineering, one of my most compelling passions have been in the area of
teaching and mentoring. The pursuit of an advanced business degree usually means learning the skills
necessary to enter into corporate America with the opportunity for high salaries and profit sharing;
however, the skills obtained from an MBA degree can prepare graduates for career changes that may
not actually include business in the common sense of the word. Though the education industry is not
known for doling out high salaries, business students seem to be increasingly seeking jobs in the
policy, technology, and management of education, say education professionals and business students
(Wecker, 2012). Thesis Statement: As one actively in pursuit of a Masters in Business Administration,
the vision of my career efforts is to promote leadership development within the context of education

Speech About Football Training Drills
Do you want to become a good football player? Do you have a football team and want to train them?
If yes, then you have to follow some football training drills which will make your team more
confident and prepared.
Football is a kind of game when the players have to maintain fitness and a good body shape. A player
must possess all the qualities of speed, stamina, strength and agility. These football training drills are
designed to make the ideal player for this game.
This will help you to success in your competition. However, these football training drills are not only
fun, but also very challenging and eventually very rewarding.

To start this drill players will reach at the top of the long, fairly steep hill from where they will run
down as fast as possible. This will help the players to run faster than on a flat surface and increase
their speed. After reaching the bottom of the hill, they have to walk back up and repeat again.
3. Shuttle Runs
It works on lower body muscle strength and also helps to increase the speed and endurance. The best
place to practice this football training drill is on an actual football field. Shuttle runs involve slowly
increasing the distance of each run. Start sprinting from one end of the field and then sprint back to the
starting point. First sprint should be done from 10 yards and back, next 20 yards and back, and so
forth. Before sprinting back to the starting point make sure you touch the yard line with your hands.
4. Run/Walk
Divide your football team into two groups and across the field, have them line up at the opposite
corners from each other. After starting this drill both groups of players will run to the other end. After
reaching at the final line they will walk back on the opposite side quickly. After reaching the starting
point they will repeat again. This will help to improve quick

Though it wasn t intentional at first as time passed I was afraid of answering you because I didn t

Police Enforcement And Criminal Investigation Essay
Law enforcement, in some form, has existed for centuries and since its creation there has been
numerous improvements. Improvements have come about because of community changes and the
need for more effective ways of policing the people. As crimes became more fierce and complex so
did the need for the investigation and solving of these crimes. Criminal investigative techniques were
not just born from thin air, some thought and planning had to go into figuring out the proper ways to
go about doing things. Pioneers of the criminal justice and criminal investigation field such as August
Vollmer, Alphonse Bertillon, Edward Henry, and Edmond Locard have made superior contributions to
the development of criminal investigative techniques. These techniques have impacted the way police
operate today and set a substantial base for law enforcement to build on. Alphonse Bertillon devised a
system simply called, The Bertillon System. This was a first attempt at criminal identification and was
thought to be reliable and accurate. Bertillon developed an anthropometric system of physical
measurements of body parts, especially components of the head and face. This system was used
primarily to determine if a person in custody had committed a previous crime. Archives of these
records began to be compiled. A form of this system is still used today, but we now call them
mugshots . (Bertillon System of Criminal Identification, 2011). Although mugshots are still used
today, anthropometry was

Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification
In the early 19th Century, the growth of nationalism and the growing economic strength of the
German states was very great. The German s shared a common identity in the form of language race
and heritage such as music, literature and poetry. The growing improvements in communications and
transport also brought the states one step closer together. The reduction of the number of German
states from 365 to 39 states made each state more economically and militarily stronger.
Conditions, particularly economic conditions, were such in 1862 that Bismarck was able to build on
them and gain the credit for their successes.

Nationalism was also at a great high in Europe even reaching to countries out with Europe. The
majority of middle class liberals wished to instate an elected government with freedom of speech and
press. It was clear that these aims could be achieved through a unified Germany, therefore identifying
the liberals with the nationalist cause. In the 1840 s military manoeuvres and political decisions made
by the French which seemed threatening to the Germans provoked strong reactions from many of the
Germans leading to a growth in nationalism and the creation of nationalistic songs, sung by the
German troops such as, The watch on the Rhine . The revolutions, which took place in France, Italy
and the Austrian Empire along with the fall of prince Metternicht, encouraged the German nationalists
who longed for a unified Germany. The middle classes also pressed for political reform. Revolts in
Prussia caused the king to create a Prussian national assembly, which in the end failed due to lack of
strong leadership and right wing oppositions to the collapse of the assembly.

Are Prozac and similar antidepressants safe and effective for children and adolescents?
Approximately ten percent of our youth suffer from a deppresive/anxiety disorder. The youth of our
society are being treated with anti depressants such as prozac; which, carry a black box warning. The
FDA has required that boxed warnings be placed on all antidepressant medications warning they may
result in increased risk of suicidal tendencies in children, and young adults aged 18 24 years old. The
black box warning is the highest warning that can labeled on any medication. It means there has been
significant research completed to show a legitimate concern for the well being of the population who
is prescribed the medication. It is scientifically proven that children s bodies do not absorb and process
drugs the same way that a fully grown adult can, and their brains may critically be affected as well.
Society, parents, doctors and adolescence themselves are forced to make; what could be, a life
changing decision on whether to medicate with the potential for disaster or not medicate and allow the
child to continue suffering from a psychological disorder. It is clear that both the risks of medicating
and not medicating are suggestively the greatest during the early years of life. The question that arises
is whether we should or shouldn t take the risk. A child s response to a medication cannot be
determined with one hundred percent certainty. It is very difficult to isolate

Joyce Yang powerfully emoted those characteristics at the
piano by playing in a serious, commanding manner as though she were playing a Russian piano
concerto with broad chords. The piano greatly filled the theater through her very big sound
which blew away many of the pianists in attendance because the particular piano that she played
on has a heavy action. Although heaviness can easily lead to harshness on the piano, Joyce Yang
showed absolutely none of that at all and made her deep parts very emotionally heart wrenching
instead which I really appreciated because it is not easy for some people to find that balance.
The third movement was played in a very light and carefree manner that felt very refreshing
because it gave the audience a break from the two previous fierce movements. It had a very
exotic, comedic, and dance like feel to it which Joyce Yang presented in a very fun way that
had my fingers wanting tapping the rhythm. In the final movement, she showcased some
charming innocence that reminded me of the third movement s mischievousness. I thought
that this movement would continue to be lighthearted until the end, but I was very deceived.

dollars. Bruce said that this did not go over well at all with his father, seeing as how he did not
approve of his musical ambitions. Young Springsteen went on to say (according to biography.com)
There were two things that were unpopular in my house; one was me and the other was my guitar.

  • 3. The Importance Of Religious Holiday Observances In Schools A religious holiday observance can be defined as: a worship service or ceremony of any kind, religious holiday exhibits/displays, the enactment of a religious drama, wearing religious items, and even the presentation of religious music and singing religious holiday hymns. Despite these guidelines and intentions of administration, sectarian holiday observances during Christmas and Easter still tend to take place in schools across the country. There can be multiple causes for this though. First of all, many teachers may not know or understand the court decisions and how to apply them within their classrooms. Clearly by these laws, you should not display religious symbols like the cross, however, few people are aware of the fact that courts are also concerned with the timing, context, and grade levels that are involved in these classroom programs. For example, if there is a grade wide holiday music production that has a Christmas hymn, they might get questions like What song will be sung? Where will it take place? What is the purpose of this within the curriculum? And what effect will singing them have on the students as well as the audience? As an educator I have not really thought about Christmas music as a whole in the classroom. I m sure that a music teacher is more aware of it, but as a general teacher I wouldn t have even thought about playing Christmas music in the classroom as being a controversial thing until now. That leads me into my next point that teachers may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Keep And Bear Arms Does the Second Amendment Protect Individual Rights to Keep and Bear Arms After reviewing the Supreme Court ruling in the case of District of Columbia vs. Heller (2008) and the wording of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, I firmly believe the amendment protects the individual right to keep and bear arms. Within the ruling, definitions from 1773 edition of Samuel Johnson s dictionary were used to clarify meanings (at the time of the founding, which holds the same meaning now) and helped form the decision. The Second Amendment conferred an individual right to keep and bear arms, although the right is not unlimited. In the case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Handgun possession is banned under District of Columbia law. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supreme Court answered a constitutional question about whether the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right unconnected to service in the militia or a collective right that applies only to state regulated militias. The Court held that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess firearms for lawful use, such as self defense, in the home. It struck provisions of a D.C. law that (1) effectively banned possession of handguns by non law enforcement officials and (2) required lawfully owned firearms to be kept unloaded, disassembled, or locked when not located at a business place or being used for lawful recreational activities, as unconstitutional. A range of gun control laws remain presumptively lawful, according to the Court. These include, but not necessarily limited to, laws that (1) prohibit carrying concealed weapons, (2) prohibit gun possession by felons or the mentally retarded, (3) prohibit carrying firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, (4) impose conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms, (5) prohibit dangerous and unusual weapons, and (6) regulate firearm storage to prevent accidents. Justice Scalia wrote the majority opinion. He was joined by Justices Alito, Kennedy, Roberts, and Thomas. Justices Stevens and Breyer filed separate dissenting opinions. After an extensive review of the Second Amendment text and historical record, Scalia concluded that the individual right interpretation is supported by (1) the historical record; (2) the amendment s drafting history; and (3) interpretations of the amendment by scholars, courts, and legislators through the late nineteenth century (Rose, ... Guildsmen In The Canterbury Tales Canterbury Tales Guildsmen From Chaucer s knowledge about the Guildsmen are that they are worthy, Smart, and Wealthy but, he doesn t approve of the way the Guildsmen treat the people. Based off the story the guildsmen were somewhere around there mid 40 s also they were still members of the working people. Even though they worked a lot they still keep up with the latest fashion with the others (pg. 154 they were so trim and fresh their gear would pass for new ). All the Guildsmen were told to wear all the same piece of clothes and most expensive jewelry that includes belts, Bags, etc. (pg. 154 which avouches a display on girdles and on pouches). Also the Guildsmen sat on top of their horses different than everybody else, because of the entitlement of being a part of a union making the guildsmen feel like they re better than others around them. They sat with their back straight, eyes forward worrying about nobody but there self, making sure that everybody seen the expensive clothes and jewelry they had on. • 8. Compare Noah And Tower Of Babel De creation After God created everything, and determined that it was very good , humanity fell from grace. The fall can be seen in 4 stories, which are Original Sin, Cain and Abel, Noah s Ark and Tower of Babel. First, the original sin. God allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil located in the Garden of Eden. The serpent enticed Eve to eat from the forbidden tree. Eve gave the fruit from the tree to Adam and they both ate it. The story Adam and Christ relates to the original story because after people sin in both story, they got punishments from God. In this story, even one man s trespass might get death as a punishment. The story is relevant to us today because nowadays, in our world. There are many temptation that leads us to the wrong path and evil, we should always listen to God and think twice before our action or we would end up like Adam and Eve. • 9. Germ Theory Of Disease By Robert Koch And Louis Pasteur Introduction In the nineteenth century, two famous scientists Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur formally demonstrated that microorganisms were the cause of many diseases. This proposition has become known as Germ Theory of Disease . Not that this notion had never been touched before on the contrary, there have been ancient mentions as old as 36 BC from a roman scholar, Marcus Terentius Varro, that stated: certain minute creatures, which cannot be seen by the eyes, which float in the air and enter the body through the mouth and nose, and there cause serious diseases . The concept of Germ Theory of Disease suffered a major overturn in the twentieth century, when Metchnikoff showed that microorganisms could also act as beneficial agents and health promoters. Was there then launched the basis for what we now call probiotics. Thus, today we know we are, one way or the other, vastly colonized by microorganisms. It is certainly clear that these microorganisms are present forming heterogeneous and specific communities over large body surfaces. These colonization processes occur primarily on skin, vagina and the gastrointestinal tract. Even so, our body has a remarkable ability to protect itself against microbial invasions. Within the human body resides a salient protection mechanism called immune system prepared to defend the body against millions of bacteria, viruses, toxins and parasites. However, how does the immune system enable the body to accept a vast amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lights turned on automatically. He immediately realized that he was in an OLS Captain speed jet. He recognized it because his ship was an OLS Captain as well. But this wasn t his ship. Russian flags fluttered through the cockpit, all the controls were written in Russian, and there was no Turbo thrust that he had specially installed for his ship. An enemy ship , he thought. He attempted to turn the ship on. добро пожаловать Иван It said. Cash knew this meant Welcome Ivan . He had studied Russian when he was training to be a soldier. The ship suddenly gave a whir. • 11. Lydia Bennet The Regency Era in England was an interesting period of time, ruled by elegance and etiquette with definitive social classes. Women and men both wanted to marry rich, and this left some young women hungry for a wealthy husband, or just a husband at all. This type of girl is characterized in the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, through the character of Lydia Bennet. She is the fifth Bennet daughter, automatically acquiring the title of the youngest Bennet daughter. • 12. Causes And Effects Of Hurricane Sandy Hurricane Sandy was a massive hurricane that formed in the Caribbean, and affected 24 states on the east coast of the United States. The hurricane killed 203 people in total, destroying everything in its path, and leaving many people homeless. Hurricanes are often measured on a scale of categories 1 to 5, with a category 1 having winds of around 80 km/h, and a category 5 having winds of over 250 km/h. Hurricane Sandy was only a category 2 hurricane, but it s massive size gave it momentum, and allowed it to travel a longer distance. The winds went over 130 kilometers per hour, and water levels flooded over 9 feet. The hurricane hit hard up north, where it devastated cities with flooding, extensive building damage, and power outages for millions of people before it stopped. Hurricane Sandy began near Florida, and worked it s way all the way up north. The physical geography changes as the hurricane moved north. In the Caribbean, it is relatively warm year round, and is mostly surrounded by water. Further up north, the water and temperature gets colder. The elevation is fairly close to sea level and there aren t many mountains or hilly terrain. Hurricanes occur over low pressure areas above warm water. They fuel off warm water vapour that is evaporated over the ocean, and slowly die as the water gets colder. This would justify Hurricane Sandy s path, as it began near Caribbean, where the air is moist and the water is warm, providing plenty of fuel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Truth About Stories By Thomas King In the book, the Truth About Stories, Thomas King sheds light on the power of stories. King explicitly enforces that one must take caution in the way he or she tells a story, since it will shape one s thoughts, decision making and future (2). Through the use of literature, King weaves his way through native history, anecdote by anecdote, informing his readers about the importance of storytelling. Stories are wondrous things, the author writes. And they are dangerous. (9). To prove this, King mentions two creation stories; the differences in these stories is the way in which they are told. The first is a famous native story called, the woman who fell from the sky ; this story is told in a complex, persuasive way (10 20). This story discusses a society emphasizing the value of cooperation as the animals work together to create a better world (21 22). The second story, a Judeo Christian biblical story, describes a Western Capitalist society. It is told in a historical, punitive and direct fashion, underlining a society of boundaries and punishment. King highlights that storytelling is not just simply telling a story, rather it is how the stories are told. King uses these particular stories to show how different stories shape people s perspectives, which impacts their ideas, thoughts and decision making. Therefore he addresses how sensitive storytelling may be, for once a story is told, it can never be taken back (10). This is true in all realms of life, cautioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. I Believe that Piracy Should Be Legal 1. I strongly believe that piracy should be legal. To begin with, the overseeing of private distribution is regulated without set standards and guidelines, almost arbitrarily, and only exists because there exists the assumption that piracy negatively impacts the people that put in work to produce the goods or services in question. From the business standpoint, the driving stance behind those that are against piracy is that piracy is equated to stealing. This is an unreasonable fallacy when it comes to online piracy. It is understandable in the real world, using a car as an example, if you steal a car; the original is no longer there. However, if you were to pirate a movie or a textbook, it is still available for purchase from the creator. Parallels cannot be drawn between online piracy and the real world. Additionally, many multiplayer computer games on the internet are free to play, and the video game industry is thriving. The flagship example would be in the case of Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is the most pirated object that exists on the internet, and the creators of the show are proud to announce that more than half of its audience watches the show illegally. Given this information, HBO (the network that owns Games of Thrones) still made more revenue during the last quarter of the 2013 year than its biggest competitor (Netflix) and that s with Netflix having a larger customer pool and no problems with piracy. Improvements have come about because of community changes and the need for more effective ways of policing the people. As crimes became more fierce and complex so did the need for the investigation and solving of these crimes. Criminal investigative techniques were not just born from thin air, some thought and planning had to go into figuring out the proper ways to go about doing things. Pioneers of the criminal justice and criminal investigation field such as August Vollmer, Alphonse Bertillon, Edward Henry, and Edmond Locard have made superior contributions to the development of criminal investigative techniques. These techniques have impacted the way police operate today and set a substantial base for law enforcement to build on. Alphonse Bertillon devised a system simply called, The Bertillon System. This was a first attempt at criminal identification and was thought to be reliable and accurate. Bertillon developed an anthropometric system of physical measurements of body parts, especially components of the head and face. This system was used primarily to determine if a person in custody had committed a previous crime. Archives of these records began to be compiled. Approximately ten percent of our youth suffer from a deppresive/anxiety disorder. The youth of our society are being treated with anti depressants such as prozac; which, carry a black box warning. The FDA has required that boxed warnings be placed on all antidepressant medications warning they may result in increased risk of suicidal tendencies in children, and young adults aged 18 24 years old. The black box warning is the highest warning that can labeled on any medication. It means there has been significant research completed to show a legitimate concern for the well being of the population who is prescribed the medication. It is scientifically proven that children s bodies do not absorb and process drugs the same way that a fully grown adult can, and their brains may critically be affected as well. Society, parents, doctors and adolescence themselves are forced to make; what could be, a life changing decision on whether to medicate with the potential for disaster or not medicate and allow the child to continue suffering from a psychological disorder. It is clear that both the risks of medicating and not medicating are suggestively the greatest during the early years of life. The question that arises is whether we should or shouldn t take the risk. A child s response to a medication cannot be determined with one hundred percent certainty. According to one of my sources, high Blood Lead Levels (BLLs) around 350 micro grams in infants during pregnancy can result in various birth defects such as reduced gestational age, weight at birth, and facial deformities. As well as other various mental affects ranging from, anaemia, impaired visual and motor functions, hearing loss, mild mental developmental delay, attention spans, and reading and learning disabilities (Ronchetti, Van Den Hazel, Schoeters, Hanke, Rennezova, Barreto, Villa, M. While Flint has a significant industrial history, the location of possibly manufacturing plants that used lead at one point n production did not correspond with the exposure of lead in water. Since there is no known alternative source for the increased lead exposure during this time period, the innate corrosive properties of the Flint River water, and lack of corrosion control, strongly suggest the change in water source as the apparent cause of the increase in EBLL percentage. Children in Flint Michigan already suffer from risk factors that increase their lead exposure such as poor nutrition, and poverty. Due to limited means of protection such as scarce resources for alternatives to water, lead in water in addition exacerbates the preexisting risk factors. Increased levels of lead poisoning rates have significant meaning for the development of an entire generation of Flint children, already inflicted with teratogen stress contributors (Hanna Attisha, LaChance, Casey Sadler, Champney Schnepp ... Joyce Yang powerfully emoted those characteristics at the piano by playing in a serious, commanding manner as though she were playing a Russian piano concerto with broad chords. The piano greatly filled the theater through her very big sound which blew away many of the pianists in attendance because the particular piano that she played on has a heavy action. Although heaviness can easily lead to harshness on the piano, Joyce Yang showed absolutely none of that at all and made her deep parts very emotionally heart wrenching instead which I really appreciated because it is not easy for some people to find that balance. The third movement was played in a very light and carefree manner that felt very refreshing because it gave the audience a break from the two previous fierce movements. It had a very exotic, comedic, and dance like feel to it which Joyce Yang presented in a very fun way that had my fingers wanting tapping the rhythm. In the final movement, she showcased some
