College Student Interviews
Results of the College Student Interviews
I conducted 5 one on one interviews with students who have completed their first year in college. The
idea was to find out how well they were prepared for the financial decisions that would be put before
them. Unlike the general survey, the interview allowed me to ask for individual input.
The first topic was preparedness. I asked if there was anyone who trained them about finances or talk
to them about money. They all answered they had received a little instruction from family and
nowhere else. An interesting fact was that the majority learned their skills from their mothers.
Next they were asked a question that was similar to the survey in the aspect of what are some common
items you purchase during a week. Gas, Groceries, and coffee were consistent answers here, although
school supplies were mentioned during one interview. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three student answered they had to save money for school. Another one talked of medical payments
and medications. Finally, one student discussed the decisions that confronted her daily on eating out
vs. eating in, shopping, or saving for trips home. The common these for these decision was that each
one had to weigh what they knew against what others were doing. Peer and family pressure played a
part in each of the choices. I continued and asked how they would grade themselves on these
decisions. Only one said 5, the others graded 6, 7, 8, and 9. When asked to explain, the student whose
grade was 5 said she was caught off guard by ER trips and unplanned new tires for their car. The 9,
that student felt the decision was graded there because she was able to pay her way into summer
school without increasing her

Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India...
Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India
India holds a prominent place in the history of imperialism and decolonization, making recent events
in this country of nearly one billion especially important to the current day citizen. India also faces
problems associated with accommodating religion and diversity within a large federal republic,
making their experience important for Americans concerned with these issues. India faces growing
action of governing which invites the use of violence to achieve political objectives. In spite of India s
size and importance, it is hard for an American to gain an understanding of the issues and conflicts
which have set the stage for the most recent revival of Hindu nationalism. The ... Show more content

Nijhawan remarks, the contending sides swear by secularism. However, secularism as it has come to
be practiced by the Congress Party and the Indian government (hereafter referred to simply as
secularism) comes under scrutiny for four general reasons: the unequal treatment of different religious
groups, the implied hostility to religion, the poor translation of secularism from the West to India and
the inability of secularism to create a national identity for India. That both sides attempt to appropriate
the term secularism can lead to confusion; even the U.S. government had some problems in its effort
to catagorize the debate about secularism. In the opinion of the Hindu nationalist, the Congress
commitment to secularism does not bring about the tolerance, the Sarva Dharma Sambhava to be
expected of Hindu rulers. P.N. Joshi, President of the Rashtriya Hindu Manch, a militant Hindu
organization, explains in his 150 page pamphlet, Secularism in Action: A Fraud, A Conspiracy to
Destroy Hinduism that in reality, the picture of secularism in action in this country is neither beautiful
not presentable ... in fact, it is ugly and abominable and the produce even though so well packed in
gorgeous colours is foul and stinking .ii The concept of secularism in this country, in fact, means to
ignore the Hindus, to sell the rights and interests of the Hindus with a view to appeasing the Muslims,
Sikhs and Christians for buying their votes. The BJP also attacks

Rolling A Ball Analysis
By a show of hands, how many people on hear have ever seen professional bowling on TV? Were you
curious about how they about how they were able to make the ball react down the lane? If yes, you are
one of many. Today I will explain how to manipulate your ball so that it reacts. To somebody who is
unfamiliar with the specifics of the sport, it can be difficult to comprehend all the parts of this
seemingly simple idea of rolling a ball. These parts can be broken down into three steps. These steps
are, the set up, the approach, and the release.
Those of you who have been to a bowling alley might have noticed that the flooring strips on the
approach and lanes are very narrow and inefficient, however this is by design and meant to assist the
bowler. The dots on the floor that you walk on, the arrows that are painted on the lanes, and the
narrowly cut floor boards are the equivalent to the yard markings ... Show more content on

There are two different approaches which very slightly. The two approaches are the four step and five
step approach. Both approaches should be straight, begin slowly and pick up speed with every step.
The four step starts with the bowler stepping with their dominant leg first. At the same time you begin
to move the ball, initially pushing the ball forward to straighten your arm then drawing your arm
straight back. You then alternate your steps moving towards the lane. The only variations from the
four to five step approach is that your first step is with your non dominant leg and the ball does not
begin to move until your dominant leg moves. So the ball remains still for the first step. On the last
step of your approach you will slide on your non dominant foot as you bring your arm straight
forward, all while keeping your eyes on your designated target. As you bring your arm forward you
will find the last step in your

8,265% + 1,3% = 9,565% We assume that the fixed debt in the Lodging division would have a longer
duration than that in the Restaurants division, hence we used 30 year Gov. bond rate for fixed debt in
Lodging division and 10 year Gov. rate for fixed debt in Restaurants division. For the floating debt,
we considered the 1 year Gov. rate applying to both Lodging and restaurants divisions. Furthermore,
after taking the average of both floating and fixed debt rates for both divisions respectively we added
the premium above Gov. Rate to the result and arrived at the pretax cost of debt. Cost of Equity
Lodging and Restaurant divisions Following the footsteps of the framework used in this analysis
earlier, we would utilize the CAPM in order to calculate cost of equity for both Lodging and restaurant
divisions. re = rf + β (MRP) For Restaurants division we ll continue considering the risk free rate of
8.72%, based on the 10 year Gov. rate. For Lodging division we ll consider the 30 year Gov. rate of
8.95% as the risk free rate. This approach would quantify the effect of duration differences between
the investments in each division. We ll consider the MRP (Market Risk Premium) of 7.43% based on
the average spread between S P 500 composite returns and long term US Gov.

Cholera In The 18th Century
Summary The first Cholera epidemic in England appeared in October of 1831. Symptoms of Cholera
include dehydration, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Soon the disease would take over the patient s
body and kill them. The second epidemic took place in 1848 through 1849 and killed almost 70,000
people throughout England and Wales. Doctors could not figure out the source of the illness or how to
cure it. The living conditions made this illness spread like wildfire. People were living in cramped
living areas and did not have proper sewage systems. Human waste was thrown into ditches and
alleyways. When the city would flood the sewage would flow into houses, marketplaces, streets, and
eventually made its way into streams and the Thames river. Doctor

Identity In Once Were Warriors
1. Introduction
Alan Duff s novel Once Were Warriors was published in 1990 and adapted to a film by director Lee
Tamahori in 1994. The controversial story about a Maori family made Duff a best selling author and
was greatly discussed after its publication (Martens 22f). The Maori family from whose members
points of view the story is told, is called Heke. Living in Pine Block, a fictional ghetto like
neighbourhood, the family s greatest concerns are unemployment, the parents alcoholism, the children
s rebellious behaviour, and the father s violence. Their situation seems hopeless: Jake, the father, loses
his job, drinks too much and repeatedly thrashes his wife Beth, who, in the beginning, prefers drinking
beer to caring for her six children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Readers expect the film to be faithful to its source material in ways that a filmic adaptation simply
cannot be faithful to a literary work, because [t]he demand for fidelity ignores the actual process of
making films, the important differences in modes of production (16). Stam and Raengo go even
further by claiming [a] filmic adaptation is automatically different and original due to the change of
medium (17). Another reason why adaptations are infidel to their source material, apart from media
characteristics, is money: While a novelist s choices are relatively unconstrained by considerations of
budget [...] films are from the outset immersed in technology and commerce (16). A novelist only has
to take his or her time to sit down and write a literary work and find a publishing house to publish it,
and therefore does not have to spend large amounts of money. Yet, for a film to be made, numerous
people are involved, for instance a screenwriter, a director, cinematographers, and actors. Thus, Stam
and Raengo assert that while mostly only one individual works on a novel, numerous people are
involved in creating a film (17). This also results in many different opinions on setting, plot,
characters, themes, lightning and so forth, which then leads to

Causes And Effects Of The Crusades
In the year 1095 the decision was made by Pope Urban ii to invade the Holy Land and take the lives of
many innocent souls in the name of God. This decision caused one of the most horrible genocides of
all time but this decision by the pope came as a result of many other factors. Additionally the effects
of the Crusades would both be lasting and surprising. The Crusades had economic and demographic
causes and the effects were also economical and political. It is important to remember that the causes
effects and events of the crusades are subject to very different points of view depending on which side
of the story you hear. The effects for the Europeans were much different than the effects for the
Muslims. Specifically, the crusades had a much smaller effect on the Muslim community than it did on
Europe. The most important thing that led to the Crusades was the demographic of the number of
knights in Europe. The most prominent effect from Crusades was the effect that it had on politics in
Europe.
One of the most important reasons behind the crusades was the ... Show more content on

The most obvious effect of these various episodes was the increased distrust between christians and
muslims. (Gonzalez, 352) It is not surprising that the crusades would leave both sides with an unease
of each other and this would continue for many years to follow. More importantly though the crusade
restored the belief in the church. When Urban II called for the First Crusade, his authority was in
doubt... by the time of Innocent III, when the Fourth Crusade took Constantinople the papacy had
reached the apex of its power (Gonzalez, 353) This assurement in the church was a welcome one for
both the church and the noblemen of europe (due to their symbiotic relationship of assuring each other
s power) and it therefore restored the balance in the feudal

The Proposed Corporate Social Responsibility
Objective
Washington Metropolitan region consists of some of the wealthiest and most educated people in the
country. And yet thousands of people are homeless in the community. The proposed corporate social
responsibility (CSR) program aims to reduce the homeless population in the region by implementing a
financial education program in homeless shelters.
Background
According to Metropolitan Washington Council of Government (COG), as of 2014, there are 11,946
homeless individuals inhabit in Washington Metropolitan area. This region consists of Alexandria,
Arlington Country, District of Columbia, Frederick Country, Loudoun Country, Montgomery Country,
Price George s Country, and Prince William County. Capital One is headquartered in McLean
Virginia, which is the center for the Metropolitan area. It is our responsibility to get involved in local
community issues. There are many different categories of homelessness in our community. HUD
established four categories of homelessness. These categories are:
(1) Individuals and families who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence and includes a
subset for an individual who is exiting an institution where he or she resided for 90 days or less and
who resided in an emergency shelter or a place not meant for human habitation immediately before
entering that institution;
(2) Individuals and families who will imminently lose their primary nighttime residence;
(3) Unaccompanied youth and families with children and youth

Compare And Contrast West Side Story And West Side Story
West Side Story is the iconic American musical that is a 1957 Broadway production choreographed by
Jerome Robbins. Arthur Laurents is the author of the original book with the setting taking place in the
upper west side New York city in a blue collar neighborhood during the mid 1950s. (The Broadway)
Because West Side Story is a movie musical, it will be a lot of narrative conveyed through the song.
The movie West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet have many similarities and differences consider
their plot, their character and their setting. The major plot of the musical is about a rivalry between
two different ethnic group gangs, the Sharks and Jets. The Sharks are Puerto Rican and the Jets are
white. Leonard Bernstein composed the dynamic and influential music. In the mix of the conflict
between the two gangs, a former member of the Jets, Tony, falls in love with the leader of the Sharks
sister, Maria. Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet clearly influenced this movie, and there are parallel
characteristics. For instance, Romeo and Tony, Juliet and Maria, Mercutio and Riff, Tybalt and
Bernardo all have similar characteristics. As for the specific film, I decided to watch the 1961 version.
2. Film Response
In the opening scene with the jets, the orchestral background music painted the picture of the jets
being spontaneous and unpredictable. The music especially designed their personalities well with the
random loud burst of accented notes from the brass. The mood definitely changes

Notes On The Great Gatsby By Leon Garfield
TITLE Smith explores how both [intuition/morals] and intelligence are required to break the bonds of
poverty. The Industrial Revolution was a time of great advancement, but also great grime, greed, dust,
and dirt. The great dark mazes called neighborhoods were awash with the poor; there were homeless,
orphans, criminals, or combinations of the three and more. Everyone was playing their own game of
life, surviving by their own crooked means. Trust was dangerous, even between close family and
friends. Every man, woman, and child within the shroud of poverty was competing for their own
gains. It is in this sanctimonious, stinking, soot covered world that young Smith, the protagonist of
Smith by Leon Garfield, finds himself in. Smith has taken it upon himself to escape the prison that
poverty is through the discovery of a [adjective portraying power, special, dangerous, sought after]
document. Smith, along with others, fight for ownership of the document, to unlock its secrets and use
to their benefit. Smith must use his skills of intelligence and intuition if he is to succeed, or even
survive the escape of poverty. The river of Poverty is a great one; it is easy to slip and go down yet
almost impossible to crawl back up. It is even worse for those who start at the very bottom.
Everything above those at the bottom wants to want to push and pull them back, as if to prevent them
from reaching any level of human decency. Even today poverty claims many. During the Industrial

The Jenkins calls the TestLink tool to check the status of the test cases at the end of the process.
The experiment is performed with fifteen build cases in the environment where some test cases have
given the output with different results, and some are not implemented. The proposed environment
provided with goals to conduct regression tests and it is not essential to rewrite all the test cases for
each project build. The case study used for this research has given the results successfully as expected

Alice in Wonderland Dream Analysis
Dream Analysis of Alice in Wonderland
Who s who and what s real; are we who we claim we are, and is reality really real or is everything just
a fragment of what we think is the universe?
A dream sequence is a technical term used mostly in film and television to set apart a brief interlude
from the main story. (Wikipedia) The deeper lying theme that Carroll wanted to incorporate into his
story of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, in my opinion, was not his
psychological or sexual desire for Alice Liddell. What he did mean to express by writing these stories
was his innermost desire to escape from reality in which a relationship between he and Liddell was not
allowed to a fantasy land where everything is backwards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carroll thus displays himself as two different beings through this theme: a serious mathematician
existentialist writer, and the uncanny photographer who enjoys taking nude pictures of little girls,
which are undoubtedly one exactly same person in the world of two universes; since the two realities
can have differences and yet both very real, Carroll s strange personality is not actually strange at all.
Borges The Circular Ruins did not contain the same meaning as Carroll s existentialist ideas; Borges
idea of dreams was strictly one way, in which when one person wakes up, the person who is being
dreamed will vanish. The Circular Ruins questioned about our existence as real or just a fragment of
someone else s imagination, which is supposedly as real as the actual reality of whoever is imagining
us. Carroll s notion of dreams, then, questions a more complex essence of existence: of two possibly
imagined universes imagining each other. Carroll expresses himself and his queer personality (or is it
queer?) through a seemingly harmless book of nonsensical fantasies, and also questions his readers,
and possibly himself, the meaning of life and the universe. What I always thought of as the fun story
with insane poems, in addition to the wonderfully brilliant image of Wonderland portrayed by Disney,
turns out to be quite an amazing text for future existentialists and

Family Should Be Best Friends
I have always been told that the siblings or sibling in a family should be best friends. As I was
growing up with an older brother, things were not always like that in my house. It was hard for me to
see my friends hanging out and going to lunch with their older siblings because I never had that
relationship with my older brother, Zack. Zack was different. He had a lot going on with his life so
when he wouldn t talk to me or blow me off, I would just shake it off and pretend that eventually he
would become that fun, older brother we all see in movies. Then I finally realized, nothing would
change. I was devastated to never have that relationship with my brother because I didn t understand
why he never wanted to be with me. What have I done wrong? Am I really that annoying as a little
sister? That was until my mother informed on what was going on with Zack. He had severe social and
anger issues which caused him to be jealous of me because of all my friends that I had, leading him to
be mean and angry with me all the time because of his anger issues. I felt awful for my poor big
brother. He doesn t deserve this, I would think to myself at night. These thoughts and feelings went on
until the summer of 2015, when everything changed. In the period of time from when I pretended like
nothing was wrong with my brother to when I found out, I focused a lot on my friends. I made so
many close friends who I considered to be siblings more than Zack. It was like I had 15 unrelated

women were considered to be worth close to nothing. The author of China s Examination Hell: The

To begin, there were numerous different topics the young scholars had to memorize and master. The

The Causes Of Managing Stress In College Students
College life can be extremely stressful, especially for freshmen. However, it s not just freshman that
can be can be affected by stress, no one on earth is immune to stress. Stress is the body s way of
reacting to physical demand around it. Stress occurs when the bodies tension levels rise, exceeding
one s tension level causing the person to feel stressed and overloaded. Stress can be caused by many
things, and college students have been known to be more susceptible to stress; especially in their first
year. Often times, first year students struggle with managing all the new responsibilities they have to
take on. They often struggle with the stress that comes along with being independent academically and
financially. As easy as it is to quickly become stressed, it s also just as easy to manage stress. A student
could manage stress by ensuring that they re not overloaded by managing their time well, taking time
out of their day to relax, and making sure that they have good, solid, emotional support. First, for a
student to manage stress, he must ensure that he doesn t overload himself; he can do this by using time
management skills. To do this, he should schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor, in order to
plan out a well balanced, structured, course load for the semester. More than likely if something isn t
planned out properly, chances are that it won t work out. So, by balancing out his course load, the
student is ensuring that he won t be overwhelmed by his courses. After meeting with an advisor, the
student should start to evaluate his own life and the various activities that he may be involved in like
sports. He should figure out what he can keep in his schedule, and what he needs to remove from his
schedule. After all, time management is a big part of college and being unorganized can cause
disastrous events to occur. After deciding what he s able to fit into his college life the student should
acquisition a planner. The planner doesn t have to be big or extravagant, something as small as a
pocket calendar could work, so long as it s able to fit assignment due dates in the margins. After
obtaining a planner, the student should review the syllabus for his courses and record quizzes and

Coming Of Age Of Girls In Fairytales
When Little Red Cap becomes Mrs. Red Cap: the coming of age of girls in fairytales From a young
age, girls around the world are told that their transition into womanhood will mark an important
chapter in their lives. It guides a young girl from innocence to experience and is characterized through
her attainment of self responsibility and her newly found maturity. This milestone in a girl s life is
often explored through different adaptations during different time periods of our history; for example,
we often see the subject being explored in fairytales. In Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s fairytale Little

For one, when she listens to her mother, she no longer strays from the path and is able to get to her

grandmother s to not distract herself from staying on the path: Get an early start, before it becomes
hot, and when you re out in the woods, be nice and good and don t stray from the path, otherwise you
ll fall and break the glass, and your grandmother will get nothing (101 102). Little Red Cap would
have accomplished her mother s advice if she wasn t still a child in the beginning of the story: So she
ran off the path and plunged into the woods to look for flowers. And each time she plucked one, she
thought she saw another even prettier flower and ran after it, going deeper and deeper into the forest.
But the wolf went straight to the grandmother s house and knocked at the door (103). The little girl
being easily distracted by the beauty of flowers and not connecting the dots of the wolf going after her
grandmother demonstrates her incapability of being an intelligent and grown woman, a telltale of her
still being an immature child. However, this changes near the end of the

magician Prospero is ruler of the isle with his two servants Caliban and Ariel. Caliban is the abrasive,
foul mouthed son of the evil witch Sycorax. When Prospero was shipwrecked on the island Prospero
treated him kindly but their relationship changed when Caliban tried to rape Prospero s daughter,
Miranda. Caliban then became Prospero s unwilling servant. Caliban serves his master out of fear

When Prospero first
Prospero learnt from his mistake in treating Caliban kindly and realized that the only way to treat such
an immoral creature was to be strict and threaten or else Caliban will take advantage of his kindness.
He understands that the only fair way to treat Caliban is to be strict with him because this is the only
form of treatment that Caliban can respond to well.
In Act 2 Scene 3 when Caliban plots to kill his master Prospero with his newly found drunken master
Stephano we can see that Shakespeare is portraying Caliban as a creature with very base instincts.
From Caliban s actions, it is difficult to see understand why Prospero does not cast away Caliban. He
says in Act 5:
...this thing of darkness I
Acknowledge mine, referring to Caliban.
On one level, it seems that Caliban is an evil character but on another level, Shakespeare tries to
depict Caliban as a part of Prospero s character. This is shown when Prospero accepts responsibility
for Caliban. Prospero understands that Caliban is the baser side of himself, even the baser side of
humanity s baser instincts. Caliban shows many

Hunting Gray Wolves Should Be Illegal
Around the world, there are thousands of wildlife animals. Gray Wolves are one type of them; their
small domestic animals that are very fast, move in packs, and hunt deer and other animals for food.
Despite the fact that Gray Wolves hunt deer, they are helpful animals to the ecosystem. Gray Wolves
keep the ecosystem s movement in check. They actually help the environment more than hurt it. They
can be as friendly like dogs if raised from pups. They re very interesting animals and it should be
illegal to hunt them because they are almost extinct, they keep the prey population in check, and are
unique animals trying to survive. Hunting Gray Wolves should be illegal because they are interesting

Persuasive Essay On Saving Money
Saving money is an important part of your financial health. The more you save, the more you can feel
at ease whenever a rainy day might hit. You cannot predict the future but you can prepare for it. If you
prepare now, your future self will thank you. But how can you save if you have so many bills and only
one stream of income? Here are some tips you can use to rack up that account with a single income.
Try to make a budget, it will be your blueprint for your finances. The first step for anyone wanting to
take control of their finances is to make a budget. A budget will allow you to understand where your
money is going and enable you to adjust your spending by designating how much you can afford.
Creating a budget is a good idea for everyone, but especially for individuals with limited income.
Write down your budget, with specific categories of spending, and stick to it. Start slowly by using a
percentage on how much you will save versus spend. A plan doesn t work unless you work the plan.
Do not live a life that you cannot handle, spend within your means. Be honest with yourself, if you
can t afford something, don t buy it! Affordability is much more than the amount of money in your
bank account, it also is how long it will take for the money you spent to be back in your account.
Think of your finances as a long term process, not a short term fix. This is also why you should limit
your credit card usage. If you rack up your credit card and lose your sole source of income,

I can not recall any memories before learning how to read. I feel like the moment that I learned to
shape the world with my mouth and my mind, I was brought to consciousness. The earliest memories I
have of enthusiastically reading mesh, and loop, and intertwine with each other. The sensations of
thumbing through small wooden like books of simple nursery rhymes, coincide with the clean scent of
what libraries smell like. I remember the sunlight hitting the leather car seats as my dad drove me to
the neighborhood library and the tilting wobble of the world as I made a fast pace through the building
s looming glass doors. I have memories of day minutes and split second afternoons spent in a cozy
grey walled library partitioned only by a long wooden table, surrounded by people reading books. ...

My Group Presentation During Week 10
My group presentation during week 10 was around the topic of women at work and more specifically
maternity and paternity leave. A common perception of teamwork is that you either have a group that
that works well together and finishes the assignment ahead of time or you have group where there is
little communication and the assignment is a last minute activity resulting in a grade that is truly
reflective of the effort and time taken. Fortunately for myself the group that was formed for this
assignment worked well together and produced an exceptional presentation. I enjoy teamwork as it
allows for ideas to be bounced off one another and a better understanding of issues and problems to be
well comprehended.
As well as being a chance to incorporate individuals talents within presentation new skills and the
development of existing skills. Personally I feel as though I have a good level of skill for presenting an
idea however I lack in the preparation are of a presentation I prefer to present something to an
audience rather than find and conduct research for a presentation. However the other people in my
group were good at finding information and crafting a brief outline around the presentation. This
worked quite well for our group as we had a couple of confident speakers whom brought the
presentation together. Where others succeeded in producing and finding evidence to back up our stated
methods in which work should be done.

Stono Rebellion And The Security Act Of 1739
Stono Rebellion
On Sunday, September 9th, 1739 the British colony of South Carolina was shaken by a slave uprising
that culminated with the death of sixty people (Foster). This was one of the first major slave revolts in
which many slaves tried to escape to freedom. The fact that it was Sunday affected the timing of the
revolt. The promise of freedom that the Spanish made, contributed to the idea of rebellion. This
rebellion forced a negative compromise towards the slaves because all of the slave codes became even
more strict; even though there was no long term effect of the uprising. In 1739, the Stono Rebellion
created conflict between slaves and South Carolinian elite landowners which resulted in slaves being
forced to endure stricter slave codes.
First of all, the Stono Rebellion was led by an Angolan named Jemmy in South Carolina in 1739. This
uprising occurred because slaves in Southern South Carolina wanted to escape to freedom. The
enacting of the Security Act of 1739, the fact that it was a Sunday, and the malaria epidemic in the
Charlestown were three factors that influenced the timing of Stono Rebellion. The Security Act of
1739 required all white males to carry their firearms to church. Because most of the armed males went
to church (on sunday), they were not ready for a rebellion. Furthermore, the malaria epidemic had also
weakened many militiamen and regular men to the point of them not being able to fight or function
very well. Jemmy and his

An Extreme Near-Death Experience
A woman gets hit by a bus, goes into a coma, and experiences either seeing her body, or drifting along

will go over. Not everybody believes in near death experiences, however thanks to movies and T.V.
they are becoming more popular. To understand exactly what an extreme near death experience is, a
person must first know the topic s background. A near death experience is any close brush with death.
This could range from getting shot to falling down the stairs. An extreme near death experience, in this
case, is when a person has an odd occurrence with something they don t have any knowledge of. For

That there is no such thing as an out of body experience. Many will ask, What about the people who
have had a near death experience, but have not had an out of body encounter? There is a simple
answer. Although this may be true, those people probably did not have an extreme near death
experience. For example, in a piece called My Near Death Experience, by John White (2014), he has a
near death experience in his town s pond. Mr. White dove head first into the water, hit his head, and
blacked out. He wrote that he, had no external perception, no sensory awareness. I was simply floating
idly, feeling more peaceful than I d ever been, (White, 2014). One could say that Mr. White had a near
death experience, but not an extreme one. People would also say that no one could possibly leave their
body without dying first. That is more than likely false, if one were to ask the world if they believe in
the supernatural, the majority would say yes. There have been many accounts of spiritual encounters,
of people leaving their bodies without even having a near death experience. Another reason is, how
could a person be one hundred percent sure it is not an out of body experience if it did not personally
happen to

that many farms and agricultural industries could not afford the chemicals required so traditional

Essay On Symbolism Of Civilization In Lord Of The Flies
Anarchy fallen over the once peaceful land and all but one has returned to their savage ways. In
William Golding s, Lord Of The Flies, The character of Piggy is a symbol of civilization. To
commence, Piggy symbolises civilization because of his glasses as the fire is started by thm, and fire
is the first sign key to civilization . Secondly, by insisting the continuation of the rules to be enforced
on all of the island, Piggy demonstrates the ideals of civilization. Finally, Piggy idealises civilization
by wanting to advance in technology on the island. In William Golding s, Lord of The Flies, Piggy
symbolises civilization on the island, while others turn to primitive, savage ways. First and foremost,
Piggy s glasses are used to start a fire which shows a sign of civility as fire is the starting point to
civilization, with it being the way the boys will return home. During the first meeting, Ralph addresses
the group to say that a fire is needed to go in order to attract attention to the island for a passing boat.
The boys then, unsure how to start a fire, Ralph moved the lenses back and forth, this way and that, till
a glossy white image of the declining sun lay on a piece of rotten wood. Almost at once a thin trickle
of smoke rose up and made him cough (Golding 56). This shows that because of Piggy being hard of
sight, the boys were able to start a fire and have the ability to return to civilization. Furthermore, due
to Piggy s glasses creating the fire, the boys can now

The Music Of Music And Music In The Hobbit
The Hobbit Essay
There are approximately thirteen songs in The Hobbit, enough for one in almost every chapter.
Although it cannot be classified as a musical because all the characters are aware that they are singing,
the music still plays an essential role in the development of the story. Many characters from almost all
of the races Tolkien introduces us to compose a song at one point in the story. These songs integrate
relevant details of lore, character development, and a glimpse into the world of Middle Earth. If a
reader investigates further into the songs and poems of The Hobbit, they will find that Tolkien uses
poems and songs to reveal important attributes and estab lish the history and motives of different
species, such as dwarves, elves, and goblins.
One of the first races the readers are introduced to are the dwarves. These short and squat creatures
were once great miners and metal workers whose kingdom was taken by the dragon Smaug. One of
the songs that the Dwarves sing in the first chapter, titled Over the Misty Moun tains Cold, has a
somber and vengeful tone. It has a simple structure of only four lines per stan za and contains
repetition of lines. The rhythm is reminiscent of the repetitive swing of pickaxes, reflecting the
straightforward and sturdy nature of dwarves, and their connection to mining. It speaks about the
ancestry of the dwarves, the splendor and loss of their city of Dale to Smaug, and how they must

seeing the protagonist s obsession with superheroes and his fantasies of exacting justice upon the bully

His superhero persona also has a star shaped mouth hole evocative of Captain America, who has stars

Of course, depending on their background, someone in the target age group may develop an opposing

Judith Butler Heterosexuality
When analyzing the matters of how sex, gender, race and class are implicated in sexuality, many
questions will arise. Furthermore, race class sex and gender are all separate interconnected categories
that have a colossal influence in the way individuals are viewed, perceived, acknowledged and
accepted in todays society. Many theorists such as Judith Butler, who is known as one of the most
prominent American philosophers and gender theorists, have developed ideas that support her views
on gender performativity, as well as the social constructions of sex and gender that govern the people
of todays society. As noted in the course text, New Sexuality Studies, there has been a revolution in
the study of sexuality. Sex is today understood as fundamentally social (NSS, xv). Throughout the
exploration of this research essay, following week six on Heterosexuality , in addition to various

The course texts and articles used to support this research question will accurately portray that the
underlying problem may not be the privileged status of heterosexuals, but rather societies dualistic
categories that pit groups of people against one another (NSS, 259).
According to Judith Butler, societies that believe in a natural gender order are also organized around
the norm of heterosexuality. Butler argues that heterosexuality is the basis of a culture of romance,
marriage, and family that is enforced by our laws, government, churches schools and military (NSS,
11). Therefore, through this system of enforced heterosexuality that governs individuals everyday
lives it is comprehensible why societies divide individuals into two gender types, viewing men and
women as the only natural, normal way of living. In the article; How Sex, Gender and Sexuality
Constellations are Constituted in Secondary Schools, written by Deborah

What Does Douglass Tell Us During General About Slave Life...
1. What does Douglass tell us in general about slave life on a large plantation? What does he say about
slave childhood?
In general, Douglass describes slave life on a large plantation as harsh and cruel. As a child he was an
eyewitness to a Bloody Transaction . Douglass wrote often been awakened at the dawn of day by the
most heart rending shrieks of an own aunt of mine, whom he used to tie up to a joist, and whip upon
her naked back till she was literally covered with blood. No words, no tears, no prayers, from his gory
victim, seemed to move his iron heart from its bloody purpose. The louder she screamed, the harder he
whipped; and where the blood ran fastest, there he whipped longest. He would whip her to make her
scream, and whip her to make her hush; and not until overcome by fatigue, would he cease to swing
the blood clotted cow skin. I remember the first time I ever witnessed this horrible exhibition. I was
quite a child, but I well remember it. (Douglass, 4) This quote demonstrates the cruelty slaves endured
on a large plantation. Slave children were unable to work so they were allowed two coarse linen shirts
per year and after they were worn out they would be naked. Slave children had a lot of leisure time.
Douglass describes his daily activities as a child I lived on Colonel Lloyd s plantation, it was very
similar to that of the other slave children. I was not old enough to work in the field, and there being

a dog is based on how quickly and consistently they learn and obey commands, how well they

How Is Managing Climate Change, Changes America s Health
How is Managing Climate change, Changes America s Health
Fady Estany
Tennessee State University
What is Climate Change?
Climate change is a change of environment patterns. In specific the change was obvious from the mid
to late 20th century. The reason of the dramatic change was due to large increased levels of
atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. We as people can barely or see no
change at all. But the truth is that our Earth is warming little by little. Minor changes in the average
temperature of the earth can transform to massive and possibly dangerous shifts in climate and
weather. Global temperatures have been on the rise, Earth average temperature has by 1.4 Fahrenheit
over the past 100 years, and temperature is projected to increase 2 to 11.5 Fahrenheit over the next
century. Again as we can see the evidence of climate changes such as increasing of temperatures,
changes in precipitation, consequence in more floods, ice glaciers are melting, and oceans are
warming. ( United States Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) As those changes take place in our
Earth, it becomes more challenging for us humans, and creatures around the planet. So as we
understand, the managing of climate change is important, because it will create awareness on the role
of science, as well the role of humans, the effects of climate change, and the adaptation of climate
change.

The Legal Aspects Of The Surrogate Pregnancy
For most individuals, surrogacy is the only way to have children. Thus, modern reproductive
technologies are on top. However, there is a question that remains difficult physiologically, legally and
ethically. Let alone the Old Testament Genesis 16, which states that Abraham s wife could not get
pregnant, and her husband had to use a maid Hagar, impregnating her naturally. Slaves, concubines
and peasant, were surrogate mothers by traditional way. Now it is intelligently called partial surrogacy

It is, first of all, the problem of extra embryos and the possibility of their destruction, sale, abuse, and
a number of others that remains unsolved. Theoretically, the number of potential children from one
donor may exceed the entire population of the earth. From a utilitarian s point of view, the act of
surrogacy is ethical as the families as well as the surrogate mother are all happy in the end.
Furthermore, another major ethical question been asked is whether: to hide or not to hide? No state
requires parents who have used surrogate motherhood, to talk about the process with their children.
This will be seen as invasion of privacy and a violation of the autonomy of the family.
A Surrogate mother is a woman who becomes pregnant, carries and delivers a child for another couple
in other words Commissioners parents. Surrogacy can be complete or partial. In the case of complete,
egg and sperm available to authorized parents or donors. For the full surrogacy IVF is used. It is
preferably in the partial. Thus, it is the problem that is one so much medical as ethical and legal. And

networking design Server Routed Networking Design: The server routed networking design of a DCN
consists of Core (layer 3) switches, TOR (top of the rack or layer 2) switches and server racks. It
basically has two tier switching involved for routing a packet. It has a recursively defined structure. In
general a server rack is connected to a TOR switch and the TOR switch is connected to a core switch.
Packet routing from outside the DCN to the server takes place by passing packets through the core
switches. Load balancing in a data center network is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Routing involving both core switches and TOR switches and when server numbers are different.
Routing directly through core switch when server numbers are same: When source and destination
server numbers in different server racks are same, then packet from source server is sent to the
respective core switch and routed to the destination server. Routing involving both core and TOR
switches when server numbers are different: Routing involves both core and TOR switch but routing is
first done using TOR switch and then core switch comes into play and vice versa. Switch Routed
Networking Scheme: This networking DCN consists of Core (layer 3) switches, Aggregate (layer 3)
switches, TOR (top of the rack or layer 2) switches and server racks. It basically has three tier
switching involved for routing a packet. It has a recursively defined structure. In general a server rack
is connected to a TOR switch and the TOR switch is connected to an aggregate switch which in turn is
connected to a core switch. Packet routing from outside the DCN to the server takes place by passing
through the core switches. Core switches are also responsible for load balancing. Routing from outside
DCN to server: Routing depends on the server rack and server of the destination in the packet. The
main logic behind routing here is the packet enters any core switch then gets forwarded to the
aggregate switch (either right or left) based on the server no. in the

Booker T Washington Dbq
Two important figures in history who were well known for educating African Americans and who also
changed the way the U.S education system worked were Booker T. Washington who focused on
having education for real life jobs and not asking for equality from whites. He just focused on getting
help from whites and accepting their place on earth. And W.E.B. du bois who focused on the exact
opposite things that of booker t Washington. Du bois focused on a strategy called gradualist strategy.
The gradualist political strategy focused on blacks being book smart to get anywhere in life. Booker t
Washington was born April 5, 1856 into slavery by his mother Jane. Jane, booker, and his older
brother john were 3 of the six slaves working on a small farm. Booker s father was a local white
farmer. There isn t much to say about booker s father because a white man impregnating a black
women slave was not tolerated, especially not in the south. Because of that Jane guarded his identity.
The emancipation proclamation was the event which changed Booker T. Washington s fate, making it
possible for him to be free and get and education. Jane left the plantation with Booker and John. They
went on a ten day journey to West Virginia, Martinez 2 Where Jane rejoined her husband. At age 10,
booker attended school for colored children. While having an ... Show more content on

W.E.B. Dubois focused on a strategy called the gradualist political strategy. The gradualist political
strategy tells that Du Bois was very focused on African Americans being book smart to get anywhere
in life. He believed that they should be just like white, with high education and IQ S which all came
from reading, writing, and organized education. He felt the smarter the African American got, the
more equal they were to the whites. African Americans felt like it was impossible since some grew up
working in farms not growing up attending school like Du bois

My Favorite Game
Swish, woohoo Is what I said when Jaden perry swished the three point shot at Michigan State s
Breslin center. It was the start of my spring break and my family decided to go watch are basketball
team play at the breslin center. It was a awesome game even though we lost by a lot but, after the
game we were off because we were heading down to Myrtle Beach South Carolina for spring break.
We had just got out of Michigan and into Ohio when we stopped to eat, everyone was starving . We
ate at the best Pizza Hut I have ever been to the pizza was so delicious. Then after we stuffed
ourselves we were off again, when we were driving down the highway there was fires along the road it
was so weird but I could hear the blaring fire trucks to come put out the miniature fires. After that I
fell asleep till I felt an enormous amount of water fell on me, I was in the back of the car and the
cooler fell on me so all the water spilled on me. When I dried off we were in West Virginia and we
passed the state capitol building which was enormous. The great white peak of the monumental
building towered above all around it.That is all I remember from that night because I dozed off and
fell asleep, when I woke up we were almost in north carolina almost to south carolina. It was the
morning so we got breakfast at the Waffle house I got some delicious fluffy white pancakes. Then we
were off like a rocket to Myrtle beach south carolina.
When we finally got there It was amazing it smelled like

The Common Types Of People
A very common thing for people of all ages to do is go online and try to find answers for their
symptoms. Sometimes they find answers to their questions or they find the solution to their problem.
Often times, however people research their symptoms and end up paranoid and scared thinking there
might be something seriously wrong with themselves. While some people feel the need to find
answers, others argue that the internet isn t always as reliable as people like to believe.
There are many reasons why people look up their symptom and there are three very common types of
people that research their health problems. The first type being the people that find good results and
end in relief. This is because they realize that the problems they re having aren t serious, or that the
solution to their problems is fairly easy to accomplish.
The second type is the people that have been diagnosed with an actual health problem and go online to
find answers to their question. Researching helps them to know what to expect. It may help them
regain a sense of control during a scary and sometimes helpless time (Weiser). For this type of people
knowing information whether it be good or bad, helps them to feel comfort.
The third and what I personally think is the most common type is those that don t have a lot of
knowledge on their health issues. They don t know how serious their problems really are, well because
they aren t doctors to really know. These are the type of people that google

  • 2. College Student Interviews Results of the College Student Interviews I conducted 5 one on one interviews with students who have completed their first year in college. The idea was to find out how well they were prepared for the financial decisions that would be put before them. Unlike the general survey, the interview allowed me to ask for individual input. The first topic was preparedness. I asked if there was anyone who trained them about finances or talk to them about money. They all answered they had received a little instruction from family and nowhere else. An interesting fact was that the majority learned their skills from their mothers. To somebody who is unfamiliar with the specifics of the sport, it can be difficult to comprehend all the parts of this seemingly simple idea of rolling a ball. These parts can be broken down into three steps. These steps are, the set up, the approach, and the release. Those of you who have been to a bowling alley might have noticed that the flooring strips on the approach and lanes are very narrow and inefficient, however this is by design and meant to assist the bowler. The only variations from the four to five step approach is that your first step is with your non dominant leg and the ball does not begin to move until your dominant leg moves. In the mix of the conflict between the two gangs, a former member of the Jets, Tony, falls in love with the leader of the Sharks sister, Maria. The Industrial Revolution was a time of great advancement, but also great grime, greed, dust, and dirt. The great dark mazes called neighborhoods were awash with the poor; there were homeless, orphans, criminals, or combinations of the three and more. Everyone was playing their own game of life, surviving by their own crooked means. Trust was dangerous, even between close family and friends. Every man, woman, and child within the shroud of poverty was competing for their own gains. It is in this sanctimonious, stinking, soot covered world that young Smith, the protagonist of Smith by Leon Garfield, finds himself in. Smith has taken it upon himself to escape the prison that poverty is through the discovery of a [adjective portraying power, special, dangerous, sought after] document. Smith, along with others, fight for ownership of the document, to unlock its secrets and use to their benefit. Smith must use his skills of intelligence and intuition if he is to succeed, or even survive the escape of poverty. The river of Poverty is a great one; it is easy to slip and go down yet almost impossible to crawl back up. It is even worse for those who start at the very bottom. Alice in Wonderland Dream Analysis Dream Analysis of Alice in Wonderland Who s who and what s real; are we who we claim we are, and is reality really real or is everything just a fragment of what we think is the universe? A dream sequence is a technical term used mostly in film and television to set apart a brief interlude from the main story. (Wikipedia) The deeper lying theme that Carroll wanted to incorporate into his story of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, in my opinion, was not his psychological or sexual desire for Alice Liddell. What he did mean to express by writing these stories was his innermost desire to escape from reality in which a relationship between he and Liddell was not allowed to a fantasy land where everything is backwards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carroll thus displays himself as two different beings through this theme: a serious mathematician existentialist writer, and the uncanny photographer who enjoys taking nude pictures of little girls, which are undoubtedly one exactly same person in the world of two universes; since the two realities can have differences and yet both very real, Carroll s strange personality is not actually strange at all. Borges The Circular Ruins did not contain the same meaning as Carroll s existentialist ideas; Borges idea of dreams was strictly one way, in which when one person wakes up, the person who is being dreamed will vanish. The Circular Ruins questioned about our existence as real or just a fragment of someone else s imagination, which is supposedly as real as the actual reality of whoever is imagining us. Carroll s notion of dreams, then, questions a more complex essence of existence: of two possibly imagined universes imagining each other. Carroll expresses himself and his queer personality (or is it queer?) through a seemingly harmless book of nonsensical fantasies, and also questions his readers, and possibly himself, the meaning of life and the universe. What I always thought of as the fun story with insane poems, in addition to the wonderfully brilliant image of Wonderland portrayed by Disney, turns out to be quite an amazing text for future existentialists and ... • 23. Persuasive Essay On Saving Money Saving money is an important part of your financial health. The more you save, the more you can feel at ease whenever a rainy day might hit. You cannot predict the future but you can prepare for it. If you prepare now, your future self will thank you. But how can you save if you have so many bills and only one stream of income? Here are some tips you can use to rack up that account with a single income. Try to make a budget, it will be your blueprint for your finances. The first step for anyone wanting to take control of their finances is to make a budget. A budget will allow you to understand where your money is going and enable you to adjust your spending by designating how much you can afford. Creating a budget is a good idea for everyone, but especially for individuals with limited income. Write down your budget, with specific categories of spending, and stick to it. Start slowly by using a percentage on how much you will save versus spend. A plan doesn t work unless you work the plan. Do not live a life that you cannot handle, spend within your means. Be honest with yourself, if you can t afford something, don t buy it! Affordability is much more than the amount of money in your bank account, it also is how long it will take for the money you spent to be back in your account. Think of your finances as a long term process, not a short term fix. This is also why you should limit your credit card usage. If you rack up your credit card and lose your sole source of income, ... • 26. Stono Rebellion And The Security Act Of 1739 Stono Rebellion On Sunday, September 9th, 1739 the British colony of South Carolina was shaken by a slave uprising that culminated with the death of sixty people (Foster). This was one of the first major slave revolts in which many slaves tried to escape to freedom. The fact that it was Sunday affected the timing of the revolt. The promise of freedom that the Spanish made, contributed to the idea of rebellion. This rebellion forced a negative compromise towards the slaves because all of the slave codes became even more strict; even though there was no long term effect of the uprising. In 1739, the Stono Rebellion created conflict between slaves and South Carolinian elite landowners which resulted in slaves being forced to endure stricter slave codes. First of all, the Stono Rebellion was led by an Angolan named Jemmy in South Carolina in 1739. This uprising occurred because slaves in Southern South Carolina wanted to escape to freedom. The enacting of the Security Act of 1739, the fact that it was a Sunday, and the malaria epidemic in the Charlestown were three factors that influenced the timing of Stono Rebellion. The Security Act of 1739 required all white males to carry their firearms to church. Because most of the armed males went to church (on sunday), they were not ready for a rebellion. Furthermore, the malaria epidemic had also weakened many militiamen and regular men to the point of them not being able to fight or function very well. Jemmy and his ... For example, in a piece called My Near Death Experience, by John White (2014), he has a near death experience in his town s pond. Mr. White dove head first into the water, hit his head, and blacked out. He wrote that he, had no external perception, no sensory awareness. To commence, Piggy symbolises civilization because of his glasses as the fire is started by thm, and fire is the first sign key to civilization . Secondly, by insisting the continuation of the rules to be enforced on all of the island, Piggy demonstrates the ideals of civilization. Finally, Piggy idealises civilization by wanting to advance in technology on the island. During the first meeting, Ralph addresses the group to say that a fire is needed to go in order to attract attention to the island for a passing boat. The boys then, unsure how to start a fire, Ralph moved the lenses back and forth, this way and that, till a glossy white image of the declining sun lay on a piece of rotten wood. Almost at once a thin trickle of smoke rose up and made him cough (Golding 56). Douglass wrote often been awakened at the dawn of day by the most heart rending shrieks of an own aunt of mine, whom he used to tie up to a joist, and whip upon her naked back till she was literally covered with blood. No words, no tears, no prayers, from his gory victim, seemed to move his iron heart from its bloody purpose. The louder she screamed, the harder he whipped; and where the blood ran fastest, there he whipped longest. He would whip her to make her scream, and whip her to make her hush; and not until overcome by fatigue, would he cease to swing the blood clotted cow skin. I remember the first time I ever witnessed this horrible exhibition. I was quite a child, but I well remember it. Slave children were unable to work so they were allowed two coarse linen shirts per year and after they were worn out they would be naked. Slave children had a lot of leisure time. Climate change is a change of environment patterns. In specific the change was obvious from the mid to late 20th century. The reason of the dramatic change was due to large increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. We as people can barely or see no change at all. But the truth is that our Earth is warming little by little. Minor changes in the average temperature of the earth can transform to massive and possibly dangerous shifts in climate and weather. The second type is the people that have been diagnosed with an actual health problem and go online to find answers to their question. Researching helps them to know what to expect. It may help them regain a sense of control during a scary and sometimes helpless time (Weiser). For this type of people knowing information whether it be good or bad, helps them to feel comfort. The third and what I personally think is the most common type is those that don t have a lot of knowledge on their health issues. They don t know how serious their problems really are, well because they aren t doctors to really know. These are the type of people that google ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
