п»їTensions between the French and English speaking Canadians.
Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians has been a topic issue for quite
some time now. Throughout the years it has been questioned as to wether or not the French and
English speaking Canadians have the potential ability to be together as a nation. Various votes
have been held in order to try and establish what the people of Canadafeel about this situation.
However, the history of the English and French speaking Canadians prove that Canada is an
impossible nation. Foreign Policies, such as the Naval Services Bill, the Boer War and Conscription
all contribute to why Canada is an impossible nation. Political Issues involving the Constitution Act,
1982, the Referendum Act Two, 1995 and the Clarity Act are three other

The unilateral partition of the constitution and the refusal of other provinces to back Quebec further
alienated French Canadians. Consequently, this endured the tensions
between the nation to rise even higher than they already were because it had been stated that
many provinces didn t agree with the French Canadians and that made them subsequently bitter.
Many agree that it is getting to the point that Quebec should separate from Canada. One in three
Canadians support this statement. That is where the Referendum Act Two, 1995, takes a role in
the dispute over French and English speaking Canadians. After voting on it, the English speaking
Canadians prepare to keep Quebec in Canada. Yet, 32% said that they d rather see Quebec leave.
When asked how they d vote if another referendum took place with the same question, 49% of the
people voted yes, and 42% of the people voted no. While another referendum on secession is not
the wish of the people of Canada or
some of the people in Quebec, the stated intention is to get Quebec independence. The Clarity Act
was the PQ s plans to hold another referendum. They want to create a winning conditions and that is
what they intend to do. The government of Canada has the right and obligation to indicate what, in
a referendum on secession, it would consider to be a clear majority on a clear question. In
conclusion it is proved that due to the Constitution Act,

School Athletes Honor Roll
Should school athletes have to be on the honor roll to play in sports games? Athletes shouldn t
have to be on the school s honor roll to play in games. So the starting quarterback for a football
team couldn t play, because he couldn t get on the honor roll. At the same time though, he was
passing in all his classes. So he sat out and because of this rule, the backup quarterback did not
do well and the team lost the game. That wouldn t have happened if the good starting quarterback
was playing. It might stress the athlete out a whole lot. It could be putting too much on the
shoulders of the athletes to be ready to play in a game and then having to get there work done with
good grades. If one time the star player on the team didn t get on the

Lonnie Bunch And Skorton s Athlete As Agent Of Change
Protesting is one of the most elevated forms of patriotism and for some time, athletes have been
using their fame to protest and promote a political agenda. This is mostly due to the high
population that follows them and listens to athletes. In the opinion article, Athlete as Agent of
Change , written by Lonnie Bunch and David Skorton, it describes how athletes are basically
representatives and the voice of the people. It is because of their fame and accomplishments that
people look up to them for inspiration. It is because of this that athletes should use their fame to
promote a political agenda. Sport has been used to show the worthiness of an estranged group and
nudge the nation to live up to its stated ideals. An example to the protests

The previous organizational structure for payment of services rendered did not allow officials
enough time to investigate claims to ensure the claims were legitimate. Perpetrators study the law
and use the knowledge to fraud insurance and government agencies. The governance of rules,
regulations and laws was not stringent enough to stop perpetrators from frauding the system.
New guidelines allow agencies more time to detect suspicious claims, investigate and save the
insurance companies millions of dollars. Society does not concentrate on proactive actions to
prevent fraud, instead society deals with the problem after the fact. Consumer watch groups do
not have tools in place to prevent fraud. Perpetrators rely on the oversites of insurance companies
in order to target and fraud insurance companies. Insurance companies and the federal
government should pool resources using a percentage of profits to finance a task force to
arrestively fight fraud. The penalty for fraud should be more stringent which will cause
perpetrators to think twice before formulating a plan to commit fraud. The Affordable Health Care
Act is the beginning of many programs established to fight against fraud. Health care fraud is a
growing problem and should be taken more seriously by citizens of the United States. Physicians,

Different Types Of Valuation Methods
Within the financial sector, there are many different types of valuation methods in which their
purpose is to receive the share price of a company. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the various
methods and the factors that contribute to the outcomes of each one. The context of this paper will
be discussed in the manners of both the positive and negative aspects of each method. With each
method, I will also explain the factors that significantly influence the price of each method used.
Currently, Cenovus is trading on the Toronto StockExchange at a value of $17.83. One of the key
aspects that I will acknowledge is that they currently have a long term growth value of 108% and
their target price is $18.55. Other factors can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the most significant downfalls of this method, because you can greatly misprice the
value of the firm without considering the cash flows as well as other variables. Another common
valuation method that one may use is the EV/EBITDA ratio method. This specific method takes
into consideration the value of EBITDA as well as the value of net debt (market value of debt).
Another important consideration that investors must be aware of is the type of depreciation
method that Cenovus uses. Since Cenovus is a large asset company, this is a vital aspect to
consider when using the book value method. If Cenovus depreciates their assets at a faster pace,
this will allow investors to part take in a valuable investment and would cause for a positive pick
for their portfolio. However, if the company depreciates their asset in a slower manner, this could
create a higher book price than what the stock is currently trading at. This may misrepresent the
value of the firm to the investor. Investors should be cautious when considering this type of method
for valuing companies. Therefore, investors should do thorough research in what type of
depreciation method Cenovus uses. The methods include a straight line depreciation or a double
declining method. Both have a significant impact on the share price of the firm when using the book
value approach.
One common method within the industry

Massive Turning Point for America was the Progressive Era
The Progressive era was a massive turning point in America s history. The suffrage movement,
Scopes Monkey Trial, and prohibition all had a large impact on America. Each event had a unique
effect on the future and we still see the effects of these events today. Even though the woman
suffrage movement began around 1848 it really didn t gain footing until the 20th century. In the
20th century organizations like the National American Woman Suffrage association and the
National Woman s party lobbied President Woodrow Wilson
to pass a constitutional amendment for
woman s rights. These efforts proved to be successful when in 1920 the 19th amendment which
guaranteed women the right to vote. This was one of the largest achievements of the progressive
era because it was accomplished peacefully. On March 21st, 1925 the governor of Tennessee
signed the Butler Bill which banned the teaching of evolution in public schools. The bill was
introduced as America was pushing for a return to fundamentalism due to the actions of many
citizens. In an attempt to bring publicity to the town of Dayton, Tennessee people in the town
asked John Thomas Scopes to cover evolution in his class so he can be indicted and bring the case
to national attention. Scopes defense attorney was a man named Clarence Darrow; he was a very
popular defense attorney and public speaker. Darrow delivered a powerful speech in which he tried
to prove the Butler Bill unconstitutional due to the fact that it

Malcolm X Pilgrimage To America
On April 13, 1964, Malcolm X left America for the holy Pilgrimage in Mecca, a pilgrimage that
must be made by every able bodied Muslim. He landed in the Jeddah airport and noticed, Throngs
of people, obviously Muslims from everywhere, bound for the pilgrimage... were hugging and
embracing He had noticed the multitude of complexions and the masses of different people
coming together with no racial or social prejudice. He compared his spiritual effect as if had just
came out of prison. The overwhelming sense of brotherhood he felt was unparalleled to anything
he saw in America. As he entered he abandoned his spiffy black suit for the white ihram (a two
piece dress for men that covered the top and bottom and one long piece for women). The ihram
would be worn by all pilgrims and Malcolm Xpoints out that, You could be a king or a peasant

During the last few years of his life he preached for equality between the races and people of
America. After pilgrimage, he had hoped for a peaceful solution to America s raceproblems. He
wanted for the unification of the whites and blacks in America a harmonious sync. Though his
blatant outright criticism of Jim Crow laws diminished, his message behind it flourished into life.
He called for a united America in the union and collaboration of all races and people who
believed in equality for all. He left the teachings and ideals of Muhammad Elijah who was head of
the Nation of Islam and thought that the white man was a devil . A message that Malcom X used
to believe wholeheartedly was now something he despised and preached against. His spirit of black

The Conservation Of The Natural Resources
Natural resources include everything that the Earth provides that we need to live and survive.
Knowing the importance of the natural resources to human life we must be aware that natural
resources cannot be replenished once they have been depleted. We need to be very cautious that
some natural resources we use are more easily renewed than others (Media: 1.5 Resource, n.d.).
We need to be aware that we are responsible in the use and protection of the world around us
through proper conservation and sustainable practices and that our mission needs to safeguard and
protect the Earth: its people, its animals and plants and the natural systems on which all life
depends. Sustainability will help us to create an environment that will sustain life on Earth for
longer than our own lifetimes. However, the practice of sustainability is more difficult, and we need
to ask ourselves how we can make our environmental footprint smaller?
Richard Rogers, a British architect, says, The only way forward, if we are going to improve the
quality of the environment, is to get everybody involved. That is why we need to look for ways to
get involved and do everything in our power to ensure a better future for us and the future
generations. We need to set specific targets for continuous reduction in environmental impact and
create a plan for a sustainable future.
My environmental action plan is a step towards creating a more sustainable world and to get
people involved in making a difference

Richard Lewis Tsunami
It was the year that the tsunami that hit the Asian coast in the year 2004, the author of The
Killing Sea by Richard Lewis decided that that was the tsunami he wanted to use to explain his
message that not everything is fair. This shows that the author was aware of the struggle of the
wave, and that it was unfair that the people in Indonesia had no fair .This is proved by the line in
the book on page 144 in chapter 19, This area was still richly veined with bodies. This is evidence
because of the fact that the story is showing how much the tsunamidestroyed and that so many
have died. Also, in the book, they are talking about the entire town being destroyed, as on page 66,

In chapter 17, page 123, Ruslan thought He should start heading to the green hills, and in
chapter 10, page 72, Peter, ...Put his forehead to his crossed arms, . This proves that the pair are
very hopeful that they will save their father s and continue life with him. Also, in chapter 4,
page 29, Peter, He resisted at first... , as in chapter 9, page 61, Ruslan, Ruslan squatted and
wrapped his arms around his head... This to me shows that they both just want to keep their
families together and never want to be seperated by him by showing their reactions to their dad s
going. Ruslan is much wiser when it comes to the search for his dad, but Peter is just straight up
going to find him, even if he s sick and unable to do much. Though they approach it differently,
they both are very dedicated to making their search work out. In conclusion, they are the duo very
similar in the way that they want to save their father s life even if they are twain different in the act
of approach.
In conclusion, I believe that the author is one of the author s that have the idea that even if you
re young, it doesn t always go your way. This is something that is shown over and over again, as
for Richard is the author of The Killing Sea that just wants to show his idea of life in more than

Summary Of Anne Frank The Diary Of A Young Girl
How would you react if your family was loathed by both the government and neighboring
citizens simply because of your religion? What if you were ordered to work at a German labor
camp, and if you didn t, there would be serious consequences? In the diary, Anne Frank: The
Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, Anne and her family go through the same exact situation
but they choose to go into hiding instead of fleeing the German occupied country. All of the
characters, the setting, and the theme depicted on what would come in the near future. Anne and
her family also go through unexpected daily situations that not only affect them as a whole, but
stands as a place in Anne s heart. The characters were an extraordinarily significant aspect of how
the story would turn out in the end. Anne, her family, the van Daan family, and Albert Dussel
went into hiding at the Secret Annex. Anne was particularly attached to her father, Otto, because
she felt he was always there for him. ВЁI model myself after Father, and there s no one in the

goal of treatments is to reduce inflammation and provide some relief of the symptoms and may lead
to long term remission. Crohn s disease treatments usually involve drug therapy and in certain cases
surgery is an option.

Blackberry-Picking Analysis
Blackberry Picking In Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney, the speaker uses anatomical
imagery to reveal the horror of losing the blackberries and enjambment to convey the rushed
picking to avoid rot, and both contribute to the overall theme of false hope. The speaker s use of
anatomical imagery emphasizes the horrific feelings that he holds towards his experience of
losing the blackberries to rot. While describing the blackberries, the speaker states, summer s
blood was in it using anatomical imagery of blood to reveal his feelings towards the
blackberries. Blood brings to mind pain and death, and in the context of the blackberries, shows
the speaker s negative response to picking the berries. Additionally, by claiming that the blood of
summer was in the blackberry, the speaker implies the death of summer by way of eating the
blackberries. This imagery is dark and gory, and emphasizes the speaker s disgust and almost
hatred toward the berries and what they represent. The speaker goes on to say that the fruit
fermented, the sweet flesh would turn sour, using anatomical diction to emphasize the rotting of
the blackberries. This line utilizes a mix of juxtaposition and imagery to reveal the decay of the
berries. By stating the flesh is sweet, the speaker implies that he enjoys the berries themselves, as
sweet is typically seen as a positive term. However, he then juxtaposes sweet against sour, showing
that as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Coming off of a terrific 2016 season, the 91 70 American League Champions Cleveland Indians
had high expectations going into 2017. The Indians made themselves into a seemingly unstoppable
force. Cleveland had dominated in the regular season, especially in their division as they were also
crowned American League Central regular season champions. They had helped themselves by
winning a franchise high 14 straight games. This gave the Tribe tons of momentum heading into
the postseason. On their trip to the World Series, the Indians managed to only lose one game.

In the 2017 season the, Cleveland had shown off this exceptionality by hitting 27 more home
runs and 14 more base hits than they had in 2016 (ESPN, 2017). Not only was the Indian s
offense a force, but their pitching staff is also feared by teams around the league. To be a good
baseball team you must have a strong pitching core, but strong is just beginning to describe the
Indian s pitching. Many people have even considered it to be one of the best pitching staffs in
the history of baseball. With a starting rotation containing Mike Clevenger, Danny Salazar,
Trevor Bauer, Carlos Carrasco and Corey Kluber, teams usually struggled offensively. Through
the course of the regular season Cleveland s pitching went from exceptional to elite. Trevor
Bauer started pitching like Carlos Carrasco, Carrasco started pitching like Corey Kluber, and
Kulber started pitching better than he had when he won his Cy Young award. Cleveland s
starters maintained a 3.30 earned run average and held their opponents batting average to .236
(ESPN, 2017). Along with the starters, the Tribe s bullpen was almost always unhittable. Having
Bryan Shaw, Cody Allen and Andrew Miller to close out a game was a player combination almost
unmatched across the league. Especially since Shaw, Allen and Miller have a combined 2. 63
earned run average. The strength of the Indians pitching staff is a superior trait to have in order to

The Different Types Of Government
Introduction
When we speak of the government a lot of questions runs through the minds of people such as,
where did it start from? who where the founders of government? how did the different types of
government come about? During the first civilization in Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, China, Mexico
and other places there where small communities know as kingdoms. These Kingdoms were
governed by Kings, and from this civilization was established. These kings had different ways of
ruling their kingdoms and from these methods of ruling, government came into existence. The term
government refers to the way a group of people are ruled and how their rulers are chosen.

A monarchy system of government is when the country is headed by one person that is either a
king or queen, a perfect example is Great Britain. Aristocracy is when the country is ruled by
aristocrats . Aristocrats are mainly educated and rich people.
Dictatorship is when a person or a group of people rule a country the way they feel is right. The
views of the people are normally not taken into consideration during decision making, an example
is North Korea. The United States of America, is a country made up of 50 states. In 1789, George
Washington was elected the first president of the United States. At this time, a constitution was
introduced that made the USA function through a federal system of government. This system of
government was called federal system because it was signed by 13 states that gave up their
freedom and independence in order to from a central government. When the 13 states decided to
join hands to make one nation, some states decide to keep their policy and trade negotiations and
the federal government could only do what the states permitted. This explains why the United
States is an example of federalism. This is a system in which the nation shares powers with the
lower level of government. The constitution grants two major types of powers to the congress: the
expressed and implied. The expressed power of congress stated in Article 1, gives the legislation

Purposes of Subscription Library
Following the years of revolution, the eighteenth century was relatively stable and peaceful age.
General improvement of life and urbanisation led to increase in the amount of spare time and
money. The commercialisation of the leisure also made recreational activity more affordable,
especially for the new middle class constituted by professionals. Their new vulnerable status in the
society led them to seek their own culture, such as participation to society activities and enrolment
to the subscription library. Subscription Librarywas first established in Liverpool in 1758, and it
spread across Britain, growing the number of subscribers along the way. It was essentially a
private library, requiring a payment of a guinea for entry and another ten shillings or so for the
annual subscription fee. In turn, the members were allowed access to the permanent collection
of the books. In this essay, I would like to discuss the possible purposes of the subscription
library in the eighteenth century, by studying the library catalogues and regulations. Firstly the
library s role in the associationalism and the polite culture would be considered. Then I would
like to discuss how the library served as a place of forming a uniformed society, offering useful
knowledge and promoting equality. Lastly, its exclusiveness would be studied. The purpose of the
subscription library could be best explained as a part of the associationalism culture and the desire
for the polite society.

John Ford s Film is Almost The Grapes of Wrath by John...
One of the greatest novels of all time, John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath, is a well known
American classic. Renowned for its portrayal of the struggle of migrant families during the Dust
Bowl; the novel not only details the Joad family s 1500 mile journey from Oklahoma to
California but that of all migrant workers. The Joad s travels reflect the hardships migrant
workers had to face while trying to survive in a country that hated and feared them. The novel was
published in 1939, and one year later it was made into a motion picture. John Ford s film, also
titled The Grapes of Wrath, was a major success, and a marvelous adaptation. However, while
visually satisfying, the film does not convey the depth or intensity of Steinbeck s classic. Neither a
loose, nor truly close adaptation, The Grapes of Wrath falls into the category of an intermediate
film. The Grapes of Wrath fails to convey a vital theme of the novel, the relationships cultivated not
just between the Joad s, but between all of the migrant families.
Cutting characters is a regular occurrence in filmmaking, but in a novel like The Grapes of
Wrath it takes away from the message of growing kinship. The idea of family plays a huge role in
this novel. The Joad s most important goal is the keep the family unbroke. Yet, the film only gives
characters important to the novel a superficial glance. Pa, Uncle John and Rose of Sharon are set in
the background with little characterization. Noah Joad literally disappears

Atopic Dermatitis Case Study
The epidermis of the skin has the functions of immune nonspecific defense and water retention due
to barrier qualities. Nonspecific defense is innate and defined by the fact that it does not
differentiate between foreign matters; it protects against all external materials rapidly (Stanfield,
2013, p. 675). The stratum corneum is the tough superficial layer of the skin, which is bound by non
nucleated cells called corneocytes. Corneocytes are keratinbundles bound by proteins and lipids.
Lipids are necessary for the skin to function as a barrier in order to maintain moisture levels in the
skin (WHO, 2009). Chronic atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inherited genetic skin disease which
typically begins in childhood and is characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. Genetic defects
in the production of filaggrin are the basis of dry skin and a risk factor for developing AD.
Histamines produce1 the sensation of itch and are released into the skin as an immune response,
triggered by inflammation. AD creates inflammation in the skin by autoimmune abnormalities, even
without the presence of a bacteria, virus, or irritant. This chronic disease may be controlled through
medical treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The autoimmune nature of AD causes an attack on the skin, and inflammation causes a release of
histamine into skin tissues as an immune response to inflammation (Handout on Health, 2013).
Histamine increases itchy sensations that may be suppressed temporarily by scratching. Scratching
disrupts the action potential signals of itch in a specific area, but scratching skin causes
lichenification and excoriations. Lichenification is thick, leathery skin, and excoriations are
superficial skin abrasions (Itching, n.d.). Chronic dry skin is another cause of itch, and both are
both symptoms of AD (Del Rosso, 2011). The effects of scratching enhance the immune response,
and symptoms worsen when

Court Observation Paper
On Friday, April, 4, 2014, I observed the Vanderburgh County Superior Court to observe different
family law cases. The cases I heard involved contempt of court for failing to pay child support,
failure to appear for a court appointed drug test, birth certificate affidavit, request for contest hearing
time, and an issue of paternity case. Magistrate JudgeSheila M. Corcoran was presiding over the
family court hearings. When entering the courthouse, I was greeted by security and advised to
remove any cell phones, and/or, any other items that would trigger a metal detector. After this, I
proceeded straight to look for the family courtroom. After roaming around mindlessly for a couple
minutes, I decided to ask the courthouse officer monitoring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I was still filled with anticipation and was quite surprised at the differences between my first and
second experience. I was formally dressed and did not really blend in with anyone else sitting in
the courtroom. The attorneys seemed to come and go as they pleased, with no deference or respect
for the proceedings in session.
The first case that was presented involved a man that was currently incarcerated in the
Vanderburgh County jail. The inmate was able to plead his case, telling the judge that he was
not able to work because he was injured, and therefore had no income to pay for child support.
After looking at the past payments the inmate made through the court, it revealed that before he
was incarcerated he had made one payment to the child s mother. He claimed that he was out of
work because he had broken his leg, but failed to provide an statements from his employer
stating he was either let go or not able to work because of an injury. All payments had stopped
for whatever reason. The judge found the inmate in contempt of court for failure to obey a court
order. He could not prove to the judge that he deliberately disobey the court s order to pay child
support. In the end, the judge found him irresponsible and sentenced him to 90 days in jail along
with a $1000 fine. After he was sentenced, he was escorted out of the front of the courtroom by the
bailiff.
The next case involved a mother who had failed to show up for a drug test. She was

Management And Marketing Models Of Aravind Eye Hospital
Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, India, was founded in 1976 with a goal to offer quality eye
care at a reasonable cost. Now as of 1992 there are three locations with a total of 1,224 beds and
around 200,000 patients addressed per year. While these numbers are impressive relative to the
starting point of the organization, if they continue unchanged it would take approximately 100
years for Aravind to clear the backlog of 20 million blind eyes currently in India, longer with
approximately another 2 million blind eyes being added to that number each year. The sheer
quantity is clearly is a problem for Aravind to address its mission of eradicating needless blindness
in India, and that is not even accounting for any of the outstanding issues existing in the current
operational, management and marketing models of the organization. Aravind Eye Hospitalhas
certainly made many achievements since its formation, but further investigation on improvements
and innovations must be made in order for the organization to stay relevant to its mission moving
into the future.
Aravind has many critical components that contribute to the success it has had so far in addressing
the organization s mission statement and creating social value. One of the key features is Dr.
Venkataswamy (Dr. V.), who is the ophthalmic surgeon that founded and built up Aravind with the
mission of eradicating needless blindness in India. Dr. V. is the dynamic driver of the organization,

Impact Of Literary Events On Life
Impact of Literary Events on Life
Before I talk about how I learn literacy, I want to introduce my mother tongue Chinese, because
learning Chinese characters is different from others languages. Chinese characters are logograms, of
which we have almost ten thousands Chinese characters in our written language, but only a few
thousands in common use. Most Chinese characters are monosyllable. In modern Chinese,
characters mainly divided into simplified and traditional, which Wikipedia explains as kinds of
characters used in Asian countries and regions: Simplified forms of certain characters are used in
mainland China, Singapore, and Malaysia; the corresponding traditional characters are used in
Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and to a limited extent in South Korea.
In my opinion, simplified characters are easy to write, but traditional characters have more sense of
beauty. Generally, in art or calligraphy people use traditional characters; in the daily life people use
simplified characters. Of course, this only happens in China mainland, because in Taiwan, Hong
Kong, Macau they only use traditional Chinese.
I study Chinese at a very young age, so that I cannot remember how I start to learn it. I think

me by my parents. Then I begin to learn the Chinese phonetics, the phonetics like English letter a b

Unlawful Murder Case
Answer
When taking a look at the case this particular incident would fall under the unlawful act and
criminally negligent homicide. The young man made the mistake of pointing what the thought was
an unloading handgun at one of his friends then pulling the trigger and killing him. As a gun
owner, it is his responsibility to make sure that the weapon is unloaded regardless even if it was
not loaded the day before. Is the question that is this an unlawful killing? The answer would be yes.
Murder is considered an unlawful act, so this would also consider murder. It could be looked at as
murder with special circumstances. However, unlawful acts are crimes that constitute both
misdemeanor and felonies and that includes murder no matter if was accidental

The Role Of Heteronormativity In New Girl
Heteronormativity is when heterosexuality believed to be the only natural norm in our society
for sexual orientation. New Girl , an American sitcom, aired in 2011 on Fox, follows Jess (Zooey
Deschanel) as she lives in a loft in Los Angeles with three men she meets on Craigslist. The
second episode of the second season is what will be focused on in this essay. During which Jess
meets a stranger when he accidentally mistakes her for his blind date, Nick (Jake Johnson)
believes he has met his future self, and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) tries to make a good impression
on Winston s (Lamorne Morris) mom and sister. The writers of New Girl follow basic genderroles
within the story lines of the television show. The show follows a heteronormative plot. Through
examining New Girl , a viewer can see the issues arise when considering the portrayal of men and
women in media, and heteronormativity in television shows.
Within television, there is often a sense of heteronormativity that is shown through heterosexual
relationships and a lack of representation of LGBT+ community. While New Girl has four main
characters, all who have active social/sexual lives, all are interested in the opposite sex. In fact,
there is not even talk about any sexual orientation other than being attracted to the opposite sex. As
Jess is juggling two men interested in her; Schmidt and Nick tell her that there comes a time in

Plato Believe Only White Men Can Understand Good Art
Does Plato believe only white men can understand good art? I mean white guys have been
dominating the art world for centuries, so why break the cycle? White men have privilege and
history under their belt so they have the time and money to spend studying and thinking about
philosophical ideas and theories. Plato says you must understand philosophy to understand beauty
and thus only philosophers and statesmen have access to beauty, as though the thought of a black
women or a poor man having that consideration is inconceivable.
There are three factors Plato describes that be in play in under must take to consider art to be
beautiful; techne, the concept of imitative poetic inspiration; and madness. With the first step, Plato
is not referring to techno, a form of electronic dance music that emerged in Detroit, Michigan, in the
United States during the mid to late 1980s , but techne , the generic idea of art whose principle is
measure 2. If you plan to make art, you are required to know what the finished product is going
to look like and how you are going to make it before you begin to create it. To know if your art is
going to be good before you start making it, Plato references that the fact there must be harmony

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Embryonic Stem Cells
What are embryonic stem cells, why are they different from adult stem cells and how could they
help cure disease?
Embryonic stem cells are the stem cells that exist only at the earliest stage of embryonic
development. These cells have been proven to be able to replicate and divide themselves an
infinite amount of times. They are able to produce identical stem cells or are specialised to form
specific cells of the somatic tissue (body tissue). Embryonic stem cells have been proven to be
able to form all cells of tissue in an adult organism. Although they can form cells of all somatic
tissue they are unable to form cells of extra embryonic tissue, such as the placenta, and so they
would not be able to give rise to new individuals. (Anon. (2014). Stem Cell Research and Abortion.

themselves after each cell division. Serving as a sort of repair system for the body, they can

The reason certain people agree with embryonic stem cell research is because they believe that the
cost of diseases to the government and to households is too high and by finding a cure these
costs would be reduces drastically. Another reason people believe this research should be done is
because they feel that the embryos have already been destroyed by the abortion and so would go
towards better use to improve human life rather than just be discarded. People feel that society s
values will not be undermined by such research. Some people believe that if it is not immoral to
use embryos for fertility treatment then it shouldn t be considered unethical to use embryos to cure
devastating diseases. A study in the USA showed that 58% of people favoured embryonic stem cell
research. (Getintolife.org, (2014). Embryonic Stem Cell Research ~ Statistics.

to reshape and change their strategy to meet the new challenges of a global economy.
1.2Strategic position of AT T in 1994
After the divestiture of 1984 В– 1988, CEO Robert (Bob) E. Allen started to rationalise the
business. He broke up the giant functional organisation into 21 manageable business units to help
drive responsibilities and accountability. Up to 1994 Allen reorganised AT T s crown jewel to be
its core telecommuncations network and his strategy was to focus AT T s expansion only on the
areas which enhanced this core. Allen explained, Everything we are doing is designed to put more
traffic on our network, to enhance the value of our network.
With increasing competition, convergence of industries, deregulation and international trust laws,
Allen soon realised that this strategy had to change. The BU structure and strategy of 1989, did not

Theme Of Honesty In The Crucible
An unknown speaker once said, A real man will be honest no matter how painful the truth is. A
coward hides behind his lies and deceit. This quote relates to characters in The Crucible, by
Arthur Miller, such as John Proctor, Rebecca Nurse, and Giles Corey. Each person took action
and stood up for what was right. Faced with tough decisions, many characters throughout the play
are severely tested by others in their surroundings because of the ways they lie, the ways they
make false accusations, and the ways that they ultimately die for a cause. At the beginning of the
play, Abigail Williams lies to avoid trouble. She tries to protect her life over the life of others
instead of doing the right thing by being honest about what happened in the woods. She lies
multiple times in the play accusing others of witchcraft, although it was false. When the courts put
Abigail to the test to see if she tells the truth, she fails and drags most of the town down with her.
Unlike Abigail, Elizabeth has always been known for her honesty. Her husband John says that
Elizabeth never told a lie. Yet when it matters most, Elizabeth lies to try to save her husband s life.
Ultimately, when Danforth and Hawthorne put her up to the test she fails to tell the truth and kills
John. John, attempting to save himself, confesses to witchcraft. He lied to the courts and told them
that he indeed was practicing the sorcery, when truthfully he was not. John thinks that this is the
right thing to do to save his

response black hair has become the rave. Having African American hairis an exciting journey. It s a

you absolutely need to know about caring for black hair.
Cleansing is important but shampooing is not
Traditional shampoos are on the list of products to avoid if you are trying to grow and maintain
healthy natural hair. Traditional shampoos use sulfates to cleanse hair and sulfates are extremely
drying to natural hair. Since the health of natural hair depends largely on how moisturized it is, the
types of cleansers are avoided by many naturals. There are many alternate cleansers including mud
washes, co washes and sulfate free shampoos.

Schindler s List by Steven Spielberg
Good morning/afternoon, today I will be analysing a scene from Steven Spielberg s master piece
film Schindler s List. Movie extraordinaire Steven Spielberg, who is a world renown director of
countless memorable films, show cases his incredible skill and compelling power towards the
audience, without using any dialogue in the most pivotal character development scene in Schindler
s List. Referred too, by the audience as The girl in red .
Before I delve in to the depths of this scene and why it is so significant to the film, it is important
I outline the story of Schindler s list. This film is all about Oskar Schindler; a successful business
man, womanizer and member of the Nazi party. A true story, about a man making a living using
Jewish workers in factories, producing anything from pots and pans too brass tank ammunition
shells, during the height of WW2. Throughout the start of the film Schindler s humanity is
questionable leaving to audience to ponder whether or not he is a hero or just another Nazi using
the Jewish people as an easy and free work force. This all changes about a third of the way through
the film, when the audience witnesses our questionable hero s fundamental change of heart for his
Jewish working force and as discovered later on in the film, he spends more money than he can
make trying to save them.
What the audience witnesses, is of course the scene I am analysing. During a horse ride with
Schindler s partner, he stops on top of a hill looking down on a

Their mutual love and hatred for one another, and for themselves, provides an intensely dark
comedy that exposes their inner conflicts, their racial bigotry and their low self esteem, as they
struggle to survive in a contrived culture to which neither will ever really belong.
John Fante s description of Los Angeles during the depression of gaunt faces and lost humanity is
haunting and riveting, as told through the eyes of a young man who is not altogether stable. The
smog, traffic, dust, grime and shallow lifestyles of southern California were already present in
1939, making this story relevant still today. The earthquake scene in the story is just as realistic as
it might be today, complete with military intervention and the emergence of human kindness in the

Literary Analysis Of The Poisonwood Bible
Michela Murray Miss Keister AP English Literature 22 August 2014 The Poisonwood Bible by
Barbara Kingsolver, literary analysis In The Poisonwood Bible, symbolism is widely explored
to allude to and explore ideas in a nonliteral sense, Methuselah, a parrot left behind and adopted
by the Price family, is an example of this. Throughout the novel, his role as a symbol of the
Congo is examined. Methuselah, kept in a cage and tended to by its new masters, knows little
about the world of freedom. He has very little experience in fending for himself, and when
Nathan releases him as a consequence for his foul language, he is oblivious to the behavior a
wild parrot should exhibit. He remains near the house even after being released, still dependant on
the Price family for food and shelter. This shows that through years of being cared for, the parrot
lost its instincts to fend for itself leaving it open to attack and abuse, in comparison to the Congo,
who under Belgian control lost the political and economic stability to stand on its own without
Belgium to take control over it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

captivity at last. This shows that Methuselah would never truly experience freedom within the
course of his life, as his upbringing prevents it. Through complete conquering through a superior
nation, would the Congo achieve freedom of captivity too? Not without giving up its own

The Reality Of War By Ambrose Bierce

Death; destruction; crawling, bloody men without jaws; and a child in the middle of it is just a
glimpse of the grotesque short narrative Chickamauga by Ambrose Bierce. Chickamauga Creek is
an area near Chattanooga, Tennessee and northwestern Georgia, plagued by war, suffering, and
bloodshed from the Civil War (Bohannon). Bierce served in the Union Army during the American
Civil War (Campbell). Many Americans then, and today, romanticize war with glory, heroism, and

sentimentalism and melodrama (Morris). Lesser publicized were the perspectives, thoughts, and

The irrational mindset of leaders and generals in the Civil War led to needless bloodshed.
Once the boy comes upon the soldiers retreating from battle, he pretends to lead them onward
with his sword. The fact that he is pretending to lead them is significant in and of itself. Young
men are thrown into war, and move up the ranks quickly due to causalities. They are often young
and inexperienced, and catapulted into roles of leadership. Not having the experience to know
how to be a leader, they pretend to be the leaders in the overdramatized, delusional war tales of
heroism and patriotism, just as the boy did. He even tries to play with the soldiers, as they
reminded him of the painted clown whom he had seen last summer in the circus (Bierce, 58 59).
Just as inexperienced young officers enter the war with delusions of grandeur, oblivious of the
realities of war, the boy is also oblivious of the grotesque situation he has come upon. The boy
eventually found his way back to his home, which he found destroyed. Many of the leaders of the
Civil War led their men across their own country, bruised, bloodied and battered, only to return to
their own homes, which were destroyed by war, as well.
The boy looks at the creeping, bloodied men, and draws a connection to circus clowns, and his
father s slaves who would creep upon their hands and knees for his amusement (Bierce 59). The boy

The Effect Of Sleep Deprivation On Seizure
A study on the effect of sleep deprivation on seizure in epilepsy disorder and its relation to
signaling bathways in the brain
People with seizure disorder usually have problems with their sleep. Daytime sleepiness, lack of
energy and drowsiness are frequently seen in epileptic patients. Baseline electrical activity has been
vastly studied in epilepsy. Seizures can be either partial or generalized. Based on the area of the
brain triggered by epileptic waves, any kind of motor or sensory abnormalities can happen in
partial seizure. If the whole brain cortex is triggered, generalized tonic clonic seizure can happen,
which is the classic shaking of the body and loss of consciousness. Generalized seizures may be
followed by a post ictal period in which the patient will be heavily drowsy and may experience
memory loss for a short amount of time. It has been shown that epileptic patients can reach
threshold potentials more readily than the normal population and lack of sleep can be a trigger for
causing a seizure [1]. The circadian rhythm, synchronizing role of thalamo cortical networks, and
reduced intracortical inhibition have been suggested as underlying physiologic factors elicited by
sleep deprivation that make a patient more prone to seizure activity.
The abnormal progress from resting potential to a wild epileptic wave can be triggered by sleep
deprivation as lack of sleep alters the neural resting potential.
Seizure occurrence is found to be related to the circadian

Progressivism, The And, And The Stock Market Crash
In America s pastime, there were many conflicts that continued to help shape America. Citizens
were becoming more aware and concerned about how America was managed, as conflict was
becoming a regular misfortune for the country. Events such as progressivism, the roaring twenties,
and the stock market crash may have seemed like a negative time in the United Statesat face value,
but the overall impacts and effects helped establish innovations that still positively influence the
lives of citizens today. Progressivism can be loosely defined as a way to progress towards better
conditions, which is what many people aspired to do for their country during the Gilded Age. This
ideal came about when people began to see poverty become more popular throughout the country,
and many blamed the government. Americans believed the solution was to have the government
fixed before it could fix other problems. Muckrakers were the first people to articulate progressive

terrorists they are not on american soil and they can suffer for people they have killed or planning
to hurt the government. One of the main negatives is that the criminals do not get a fair trial so we

Reasons To Break A Social Norms Of Society
Social norms are unwritten rules about how to behave. They provide us with an expected idea
of how to behave in a particular Social group or culture. They act as accepted standards of behavior
of social group. It is the hope of society that people adhere to the social norms of the given society
they find themselves in. For my social norms paper, I chose to break a social normby using a fork to
drink soup and then using my fingers to eat a rice dish at a restaurant on a dinner date with a guy I
was meeting for the first time. I chose to break this normfor several reasons. Firstly, I wanted an
experience to write about for my psychology paper. Secondly, I loved the fact that I was going to
be the only odd one in the restaurant and possibly get stares and murmurs from other customers
staff. Most people that eat at this restaurant eat with cutlery so I knew I was bound to be a topic
of discussion. Thirdly, I wanted to see the reaction of my date, if he was going to leave, play
along or just feel uncomfortable. Lastly, I just missed eating with my fingers as I come from a
place where some foods are eaten with the fingers. It was a Sunday evening so the restaurant was
packed with customers. Before I embarked on my mischief, my date and I ordered our meal and I
excused myself to go to the washroom to wash my hands ready to consume my food. I had every
type of feeling running through my head. I was feeling anxious, scared, weird, and stupid for the
most part of the date

Hotel Organisation
Hotel Organisation
I. Hotel divisions.
Organisational Missions
Every organisation has a reason or purpose to exist. Its purpose forms the basis for the organisation
s mission. An organisation s mission can be expressed in a mission statement. A mission statement
defines the unique purpose that sets one hotel or hotel company apart from others. It expresses the
underlying philosophy that gives meaning and direction to hotel policies. Hotel employees may
derive a sense of purpose from a well conceived mission statement. For example, a hotel s mission
may be to provide the finest facilities and services in the market while providing a good place to
work for its employees and a reasonable return on investment to the owners. A ... Show more

Although procedures may differ from hotel to hotel with regard to reservations handling,
maintenance, processing, and confirmation, the purpose is still the same: to accommodate guest
requests in a manner that maximises hotel occupancy and room revenue. Computers can be
programmed to provide reservations agents with information on the types of rooms available
(including room rate, view, furnishings, amenities, and bed size) for a given day. Some computer
systems can even provide agents with the exact room number if necessary. Computers can provide
reservations agents with a great deal of information on the hotel, some of which should be provided
to the guest on request. Computers have helped transform reservations agents into true salespeople.
Reservations agents should convey the desirability, features, and benefits of staying at the hotel,
rather than simply processing an accommodation request. It is no longer satisfactory for a
reservations agent to defer to the front desk to determine a room s rate at registration. Reservations
agents should confirm the rate over the telephone at the time the guest makes the reservation. In
fact, most guests requesting a reservation will not book a room without receiving a confirmed rate.
The agent should reinforce the guest s decision to stay at the property and thank the guest for his or
her business. It is essential for reservations

Dancing Skeltons
Dancing Skeletons In the ethnography, Dancing Skeletons, the author Katherine Dettwyler
describes many reasons for her research in Mali. The main focus of her research was too attack
the problem of malnourished children and to figure out what diseases they were struggling with.
This ethnography detailed Dettwyler s second trip to Mali, and she wanted to relocate many of
the children she had previously measured, as well as add more children to her study. Throughout
the ethnography, Dettwyler makes it very clear that the malnutrition of these children is a major
problem in Mali. She describes many of the children she measures and the picture she paints in one
s mind is horrifying. One of the many diseases she comes across is Kwashiorkor,... Show more

This provided good insight into how these children should be nourished and more facts like that
would have helped the overall effect of the ethnography. The final thing I wish Dettwyler looked
more into was the male/female relationship and how the males felt about the female gender. I do
not know if she didn t address this because she had limited interaction with the males because of
her gender, or whether it was simply of no interest to her. If she could have explained further
why she didn t take much account to this it would have added a more well rounded ethnography.
What roles did the fathers play in the child raising? Were they passive like it appeared or was it
just not discussed? Dettwyler displayed tremendous anthropological skills as well as some not
so good skills. A good thing she did was build a high amount rapport with the Malians. This was
important so they would allow her to measure them, and also so they would trust her when she
taught them how to properly nourish their children. In the text she almost always displays a calm
and intellectual demeanor when she is speaking to parents about their badly diseased or injured
child. She has seen so many things that she is not surprised as too what she will see next and it
helps her keep her composure. One time she didn t

Pros and Cons of Legalising Marijuana
Cannabis is becoming increasingly widespread and increasingly common in modern day society for
both recreational use and for medication. The article by Craig Reinarman, Criminalisation,
legalisation and the mixed blessing of medicalisation in the USA generates many controversial
issues of cannabis.
The two sided debate between embracing medical use of the drug through the therapeutic benefits
and the link between cannabis and psychosis is explored. This issues also stems the question of
the legitimacy of legalisation and criminalisation of cannabis and how key concepts are raised
including moral entrepreneur and social locus . In today s society as cannabis is becoming
increasingly normalised , the theory that cannabis is a gateway drug also arises.
Despite the current marijuana laws, medical research has shown a variety of therapeutic benefits
that arise from the use of cannabis. (Gowling et al. 1998, p. 446)) Revealed that Over the years,
cannabis has been claimed to increase appetite, relax the muscle, improve mood, relieve anxiety
and combat pain and nausea . As a result of these advantages, medical marijuana advocates support
and has pushed for the legalisation of cannabis. However, it is argued that harmful effects can arise,
demonstrating an association between cannabis with psychosis. Psychosis is a condition of the
mind, involving a loss of contact with reality . Hall (1998) stipulated that A high doses of

Intaking Marijuana for Medical Purposes Should be Legal for the Sick and Ill in California
Marijuana has been achieving euphoria for humans since ancient times; the use spread from China
to India and then to North Africa and Europe as early as A.D. 500. Cannabisis said to contain over
400 different chemicals, the main ingredient that impinge the mind is THC. The higher the measure
of THC in the hemp plant determines a higher strength of the drug. More and more states are
passing laws that allow people to use medical marijuana, and I believe California should be next.
So what does it treat, and who can and should use it? Pain is the main reason people ask for a
prescription , says Barth Wilsey, MD, a pain medicine specialist at the University of California
Davis Medical Center, It could be used for headaches, diseases like cancer, or a long term
condition, like glaucoma or nerve pain . Growing up, I was constantly advised that, Drugs are
bad for you and it will ruin your life, over and over again but it became more intense as I entered
high school. As a child, I didn t understand the reasoning behind it, but I listened to my authority
figure regardless assuming they knew best. Now being an adult and having my own personal

If Darby Company drops the shipping limitations and allows any distribution center to supply to
any customer zone for which they have shipping information, their total cost would be reduced
to $600,942, which is a savings of $19,828 or 3.2%. By putting the above information into the
objective function, the distribution plan without restrictions reduces the cost of shipping to
$177,712 a savings of $16,888. In addition, this new plan allows the company produce more of
its meters at its more cost efficient San Bernardino plant in fact, under this plan it produces at
capacity, which is 20,000 units, meaning that its cost of manufacturing is $200,000. These units
are then shipped to Las Vegas. The El Paso plant produces 14520 units for the Ft. Worth center
and only 6740 for the Santa Fe center. The cost of manufacturing these units are $152460 and
$70,770 respectively, making the cost at the El Paso plant $223,230. Adding all these costs
together gives us the total cost as such: $177,712 + $200,000 + $223,230 = $600,942. This plan
allows more than one center to supply to a specific zone and the solution shows that this is the case
for the San Diego customer zone. The Santa Fe center supplies 620 units to them and the Las Vegas
center supplies the other 3,840, satisfying their 4460 demanded units. In addition, this plan allows a

Beowulf vs Thor
Beowulf vs. Thor
Beowulf, a legendary hero of Geatish lore, from the epic poem named after him, is the definition
of a hero. There is one being who can be collated to Beowulf: the mighty Thor, god of thunder.
Derived from Norse mythology, Thor is hot headed, with an appetite for food and drink. He also
is one of the strongest gods, serving as the protector of the people. Both of these characters share
similar qualities in what some would define a hero, despite one being a man, and the other being a
deity.
Thor is one of the most famous of the gods in Norse mythology, well known due to his popularity.

the giants, were on the receiving end of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beowulf starts out as a mighty warrior with nothing to lose, in contrast to his mentor, King
Hrothgar, a wise king who wishes to protect his people. Beowulf learns from Hrothgar gaining
the qualities fit for a king. Thor and Beowulf were mighty fighters. Thor had iron gloves, a
strengthening girdle, and an invincible hammer. Ingri d Aulaire s book of Norse Myths does well
to describe these, For who, as Loki said, would belive that he came to Jotunheim on a friendly
visit if he brought his hammer, his iron mitt, and his belt of strength? (Ingri d Aulaire, 2005)
Beowulf fights without the use of weapons against Grendel, revealing his enormous strength.
Moreover, the seafarers, who carried thither rich gifts as good will offerings to the Geats, have
said that he, strong in battle, had in the grip of his hand the strength of thirty men. (Beowulf, p.
26) Against Grendel s mother, he uses the sword Hrunting. In the poem, Beowulf receives the
sword Hrunting, the name of the hilted sword was Hrunting, and it was one of the greatest
among the olden treasures; its blade was of iron, stained with poison twigs, hardened with the
blood of battle; it had never failed any man whose hand had wielded it in the fight, any who durst
go on perilous adventures to the field of battle; it was not the first time that it had need to do high
deeds. (Beowulf, p. 71)

Classical and Operant Conditioning Case Study
Introduction
Learning is the act of changing an organism s behavior in response to an experience. Associative
learning is when an organism links two events that occur close in time. When an organism learns to
make associations, it is being conditioned. There are two types of conditioning. Operant
conditioning is when an organism associates an action and the consequence of that action. It results
in the organism adapting its behavior to maximize rewards and minimize punishment (Skinner). On
the other hand, classical conditioning is a type of learning where an organism associates a certain
stimulus and the response to it with a different stimulus. A neutral stimulus is associated with an
unconditioned response to an unconditioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After not receiving a reward, and flicking herself several times, improvement was noted the
following day. She maintained good posture for nine hours, and was rewarded at dinner. On the last
day, she maintained good posture for twelve hours.
Discussion
The behavior that the girl was trying to minimize is a problem that many people suffer from.
However, like the girl, many people also change their behavior in certain circumstances. The girl has
learned to stand up straight through classical conditioning. When the girl was younger, the girl was
complimented by her parents when she sat up straight. The praise of her good posture was the
unconditioned stimulus, and the pleasure that she felt at this praise was the unconditioned
response. As the girl grew older, she would notice that her parents would praise her even more when
she had good posture and impressed an authoritative figure, such as a teacher or principal. The
authoritative figures that she associated praise with were the conditioned stimuli. As such, her
conditioned response was to sit up straighter when talking to an adult of authority. So, when she is
with an authoritative figure, she modifies her posture in an attempt to impress them. If nobody
cared whether someone had good or bad posture, then the action of straightening up would go
extinct. Extinction is when a conditioned response

in 2005 which was the smallest of the five already existing disneylands in different parts of the

Black death was one of few diseases which cause traumatizing effect on the European society
during the Middle Ages and that impact urged the Europeans to make a revolutionary progress in
their lives and medicine. During the Middle Ages, the Black Death has impacted Europe by killing
off the majority population that Europe originally possessed. The doctor at the time were working

First, I will introduce the Middle Ages society and its functioning. First of all, a Middle Ages
society is one very unique because they have the feudal system introduced to by the Norman
conqueror William in 1066 and he was able to develop the feudal system and became widely
used in Europe. This is one of the key points why there were many kingdoms in the continent of
Europe because they are capable of self supporting and was able to keep the manor system stable
and have their own economic system. Now, the manor system works like this: the king or the
ruler is the highest class of all and owns the land of the entire kingdom and the king gave land
and protection for military service, labor, and loyalty. The nobles, whom was given land by the
king and that they own everything one the land given to them and promises that they will in
return offer the king loyalty and service. The vassals are the ones who were given land by the
nobles in exchange for service and loyalty. The knights, who are usually a member of the noble
family who is trained to

Mythbusters
There are many Computer Science myths that are propagated throughout modern media. These
technical myths can be seen as positive and sometimes negative. A big myth that is often
propagated is the idea of hacking as an individual. Hackers are seen to possess a sort of
superpower that allows them to hack anything alone. In movies and tv shows, hackers are shown to
be able to infiltrate everything from social media accounts to governments. I want to debunk the
myth that hacking is not done quickly by a single person like we see in the movies. Instead, to be the
most effective, hackers form groups which enables them to solve difficult problems in a timely
manner.
In a clip from the movie Swordfish Stanley, a hacker, is forced to hack the Department of Justice.
He is forced to help by Gabriel, the antagonist, who puts a gun to his head. Gabriel says the best
hackers in the world are said to be able to do this in 60 minutes. I want you to do it in 60 seconds.
In the end of the scene, the hacker is able to complete the job in 60 seconds. This scene pushes
forward the idea that a single person can hack the government in less than one minute without
preparation beforehand. This myth is dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

between executives and even a handful of unreleased movies. (Griffin, Andrew) This hack was
unprecedented in its scale and vengeance. Because of its scale, this hack could only be
accomplished by a group working towards a single goal. This again is contrary to the stereotype
that hackers work

Descriptive Essay About Camp Wakeshma
Camp Wakeshma has something special about it and always has me wanting to stay longer.
Since I was 12 years old, I ve been going to Wakeshma every summer for a week. This camp is so
simple yet so fun and exciting. I m driving to camp with William Fulton and our moms when we
turn onto Camp Wakeshma Rd. and go under the huge sign reading the name. We arrive late to
camp due to a baseball tournament, but we check in and put our belongings in the cabin. William
and I say our goodbyes and go find the rest of our cabin. Afterwards we line up for dinner by the
flagpole. Nobody could help but realize one of our cabin mates lostan arm due to cancer. At night
when we get ready for bed I see him change his shirt revealing his scars. As I go to bed, I don t
think much of it.
Today is a drag. Every year I can never sleep good the first night and this year it s no different. We
do our regular routine leading up to lunch and discuss more rules while standing at the flagpole.
Tony, the campunit leader called our cabin to go in first and we made our way into the cafeteria.
I stood atop of the stage where our table sat and you could hear the doors whine as the hungry
kids pass through. Everyone is restless and excited for the first full day of camp. I m just as
excited as everyone even though I m one of the oldest campers. The cafeteria was like a giant

  • 2. п»їTensions between the French and English speaking Canadians. Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians has been a topic issue for quite some time now. Throughout the years it has been questioned as to wether or not the French and English speaking Canadians have the potential ability to be together as a nation. Various votes have been held in order to try and establish what the people of Canadafeel about this situation. However, the history of the English and French speaking Canadians prove that Canada is an impossible nation. Foreign Policies, such as the Naval Services Bill, the Boer War and Conscription all contribute to why Canada is an impossible nation. Political Issues involving the Constitution Act, 1982, the Referendum Act Two, 1995 and the Clarity Act are three other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The unilateral partition of the constitution and the refusal of other provinces to back Quebec further alienated French Canadians. Consequently, this endured the tensions between the nation to rise even higher than they already were because it had been stated that many provinces didn t agree with the French Canadians and that made them subsequently bitter. Many agree that it is getting to the point that Quebec should separate from Canada. One in three Canadians support this statement. That is where the Referendum Act Two, 1995, takes a role in the dispute over French and English speaking Canadians. After voting on it, the English speaking Canadians prepare to keep Quebec in Canada. Yet, 32% said that they d rather see Quebec leave. When asked how they d vote if another referendum took place with the same question, 49% of the people voted yes, and 42% of the people voted no. While another referendum on secession is not the wish of the people of Canada or some of the people in Quebec, the stated intention is to get Quebec independence. The Clarity Act was the PQ s plans to hold another referendum. They want to create a winning conditions and that is what they intend to do. The government of Canada has the right and obligation to indicate what, in a referendum on secession, it would consider to be a clear majority on a clear question. • 3. School Athletes Honor Roll Should school athletes have to be on the honor roll to play in sports games? Athletes shouldn t have to be on the school s honor roll to play in games. So the starting quarterback for a football team couldn t play, because he couldn t get on the honor roll. At the same time though, he was passing in all his classes. So he sat out and because of this rule, the backup quarterback did not do well and the team lost the game. That wouldn t have happened if the good starting quarterback was playing. It might stress the athlete out a whole lot. It could be putting too much on the shoulders of the athletes to be ready to play in a game and then having to get there work done with good grades. If one time the star player on the team didn t get on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lonnie Bunch And Skorton s Athlete As Agent Of Change Protesting is one of the most elevated forms of patriotism and for some time, athletes have been using their fame to protest and promote a political agenda. This is mostly due to the high population that follows them and listens to athletes. In the opinion article, Athlete as Agent of Change , written by Lonnie Bunch and David Skorton, it describes how athletes are basically representatives and the voice of the people. It is because of their fame and accomplishments that people look up to them for inspiration. It is because of this that athletes should use their fame to promote a political agenda. Sport has been used to show the worthiness of an estranged group and nudge the nation to live up to its stated ideals. An example to the protests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The previous organizational structure for payment of services rendered did not allow officials enough time to investigate claims to ensure the claims were legitimate. Perpetrators study the law and use the knowledge to fraud insurance and government agencies. The governance of rules, regulations and laws was not stringent enough to stop perpetrators from frauding the system. New guidelines allow agencies more time to detect suspicious claims, investigate and save the insurance companies millions of dollars. Society does not concentrate on proactive actions to prevent fraud, instead society deals with the problem after the fact. Consumer watch groups do not have tools in place to prevent fraud. Perpetrators rely on the oversites of insurance companies in order to target and fraud insurance companies. Insurance companies and the federal government should pool resources using a percentage of profits to finance a task force to arrestively fight fraud. The penalty for fraud should be more stringent which will cause perpetrators to think twice before formulating a plan to commit fraud. The Affordable Health Care Act is the beginning of many programs established to fight against fraud. • 6. Different Types Of Valuation Methods Within the financial sector, there are many different types of valuation methods in which their purpose is to receive the share price of a company. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the various methods and the factors that contribute to the outcomes of each one. The context of this paper will be discussed in the manners of both the positive and negative aspects of each method. With each method, I will also explain the factors that significantly influence the price of each method used. Currently, Cenovus is trading on the Toronto StockExchange at a value of $17.83. One of the key aspects that I will acknowledge is that they currently have a long term growth value of 108% and their target price is $18.55. Other factors can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is one of the most significant downfalls of this method, because you can greatly misprice the value of the firm without considering the cash flows as well as other variables. Another common valuation method that one may use is the EV/EBITDA ratio method. This specific method takes into consideration the value of EBITDA as well as the value of net debt (market value of debt). Another important consideration that investors must be aware of is the type of depreciation method that Cenovus uses. Since Cenovus is a large asset company, this is a vital aspect to consider when using the book value method. If Cenovus depreciates their assets at a faster pace, this will allow investors to part take in a valuable investment and would cause for a positive pick for their portfolio. However, if the company depreciates their asset in a slower manner, this could create a higher book price than what the stock is currently trading at. This may misrepresent the value of the firm to the investor. Investors should be cautious when considering this type of method for valuing companies. Therefore, investors should do thorough research in what type of depreciation method Cenovus uses. The methods include a straight line depreciation or a double declining method. Both have a significant impact on the share price of the firm when using the book value approach. One common method within the industry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Massive Turning Point for America was the Progressive Era The Progressive era was a massive turning point in America s history. The suffrage movement, Scopes Monkey Trial, and prohibition all had a large impact on America. Each event had a unique effect on the future and we still see the effects of these events today. Even though the woman suffrage movement began around 1848 it really didn t gain footing until the 20th century. In the 20th century organizations like the National American Woman Suffrage association and the National Woman s party lobbied President Woodrow Wilson to pass a constitutional amendment for woman s rights. These efforts proved to be successful when in 1920 the 19th amendment which guaranteed women the right to vote. This was one of the largest achievements of the progressive era because it was accomplished peacefully. On March 21st, 1925 the governor of Tennessee signed the Butler Bill which banned the teaching of evolution in public schools. The bill was introduced as America was pushing for a return to fundamentalism due to the actions of many citizens. In an attempt to bring publicity to the town of Dayton, Tennessee people in the town asked John Thomas Scopes to cover evolution in his class so he can be indicted and bring the case to national attention. The ihram would be worn by all pilgrims and Malcolm Xpoints out that, You could be a king or a peasant and no one would know , Islam reflects the equality of men before God. • 9. The Conservation Of The Natural Resources Natural resources include everything that the Earth provides that we need to live and survive. Knowing the importance of the natural resources to human life we must be aware that natural resources cannot be replenished once they have been depleted. We need to be very cautious that some natural resources we use are more easily renewed than others (Media: 1.5 Resource, n.d.). We need to be aware that we are responsible in the use and protection of the world around us through proper conservation and sustainable practices and that our mission needs to safeguard and protect the Earth: its people, its animals and plants and the natural systems on which all life depends. Sustainability will help us to create an environment that will sustain life on Earth for longer than our own lifetimes. However, the practice of sustainability is more difficult, and we need to ask ourselves how we can make our environmental footprint smaller? Richard Rogers, a British architect, says, The only way forward, if we are going to improve the quality of the environment, is to get everybody involved. That is why we need to look for ways to get involved and do everything in our power to ensure a better future for us and the future generations. We need to set specific targets for continuous reduction in environmental impact and create a plan for a sustainable future. Richard Lewis Tsunami It was the year that the tsunami that hit the Asian coast in the year 2004, the author of The Killing Sea by Richard Lewis decided that that was the tsunami he wanted to use to explain his message that not everything is fair. This shows that the author was aware of the struggle of the wave, and that it was unfair that the people in Indonesia had no fair .This is proved by the line in the book on page 144 in chapter 19, This area was still richly veined with bodies. This is evidence because of the fact that the story is showing how much the tsunamidestroyed and that so many have died. Also, in the book, they are talking about the entire town being destroyed, as on page 66, chapter 9, Most of Meulaboh s gone, I tell you. Also, in chapter 4, page 29, Peter, He resisted at first... , as in chapter 9, page 61, Ruslan, Ruslan squatted and wrapped his arms around his head... This to me shows that they both just want to keep their families together and never want to be seperated by him by showing their reactions to their dad s going. Ruslan is much wiser when it comes to the search for his dad, but Peter is just straight up going to find him, even if he s sick and unable to do much. Though they approach it differently, they both are very dedicated to making their search work out. In conclusion, they are the duo very similar in the way that they want to save their father s life even if they are twain different in the act of approach. In conclusion, I believe that the author is one of the author s that have the idea that even if you re young, it doesn t always go your way. Blackberry-Picking Analysis Blackberry Picking In Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney, the speaker uses anatomical imagery to reveal the horror of losing the blackberries and enjambment to convey the rushed picking to avoid rot, and both contribute to the overall theme of false hope. The speaker s use of anatomical imagery emphasizes the horrific feelings that he holds towards his experience of losing the blackberries to rot. While describing the blackberries, the speaker states, summer s blood was in it using anatomical imagery of blood to reveal his feelings towards the blackberries. Blood brings to mind pain and death, and in the context of the blackberries, shows the speaker s negative response to picking the berries. Additionally, by claiming that the blood of summer was in the blackberry, the speaker implies the death of summer by way of eating the blackberries. This imagery is dark and gory, and emphasizes the speaker s disgust and almost hatred toward the berries and what they represent. The speaker goes on to say that the fruit fermented, the sweet flesh would turn sour, using anatomical diction to emphasize the rotting of the blackberries. This line utilizes a mix of juxtaposition and imagery to reveal the decay of the berries. By stating the flesh is sweet, the speaker implies that he enjoys the berries themselves, as sweet is typically seen as a positive term. General improvement of life and urbanisation led to increase in the amount of spare time and money. The commercialisation of the leisure also made recreational activity more affordable, especially for the new middle class constituted by professionals. Their new vulnerable status in the society led them to seek their own culture, such as participation to society activities and enrolment to the subscription library. Subscription Librarywas first established in Liverpool in 1758, and it spread across Britain, growing the number of subscribers along the way. It was essentially a private library, requiring a payment of a guinea for entry and another ten shillings or so for the annual subscription fee. In turn, the members were allowed access to the permanent collection of the books. In this essay, I would like to discuss the possible purposes of the subscription library in the eighteenth century, by studying the library catalogues and regulations. Firstly the library s role in the associationalism and the polite culture would be considered. Then I would like to discuss how the library served as a place of forming a uniformed society, offering useful knowledge and promoting equality. Lastly, its exclusiveness would be studied. The purpose of the subscription library could be best explained as a part of the associationalism culture and the desire for the polite society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. John Ford s Film is Almost The Grapes of Wrath by John... One of the greatest novels of all time, John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath, is a well known American classic. Renowned for its portrayal of the struggle of migrant families during the Dust Bowl; the novel not only details the Joad family s 1500 mile journey from Oklahoma to California but that of all migrant workers. The Joad s travels reflect the hardships migrant workers had to face while trying to survive in a country that hated and feared them. The novel was published in 1939, and one year later it was made into a motion picture. John Ford s film, also titled The Grapes of Wrath, was a major success, and a marvelous adaptation. However, while visually satisfying, the film does not convey the depth or intensity of Steinbeck s classic. Neither a loose, nor truly close adaptation, The Grapes of Wrath falls into the category of an intermediate film. The Grapes of Wrath fails to convey a vital theme of the novel, the relationships cultivated not just between the Joad s, but between all of the migrant families. Cutting characters is a regular occurrence in filmmaking, but in a novel like The Grapes of Wrath it takes away from the message of growing kinship. The idea of family plays a huge role in this novel. The Joad s most important goal is the keep the family unbroke. Yet, the film only gives characters important to the novel a superficial glance. Nonspecific defense is innate and defined by the fact that it does not differentiate between foreign matters; it protects against all external materials rapidly (Stanfield, 2013, p. 675). The stratum corneum is the tough superficial layer of the skin, which is bound by non nucleated cells called corneocytes. Corneocytes are keratinbundles bound by proteins and lipids. Lipids are necessary for the skin to function as a barrier in order to maintain moisture levels in the skin (WHO, 2009). Chronic atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inherited genetic skin disease which typically begins in childhood and is characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. Genetic defects in the production of filaggrin are the basis of dry skin and a risk factor for developing AD. This quote relates to characters in The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, such as John Proctor, Rebecca Nurse, and Giles Corey. Each person took action and stood up for what was right. Faced with tough decisions, many characters throughout the play are severely tested by others in their surroundings because of the ways they lie, the ways they make false accusations, and the ways that they ultimately die for a cause. At the beginning of the play, Abigail Williams lies to avoid trouble. She tries to protect her life over the life of others instead of doing the right thing by being honest about what happened in the woods. • 36. Schindler s List by Steven Spielberg Good morning/afternoon, today I will be analysing a scene from Steven Spielberg s master piece film Schindler s List. Movie extraordinaire Steven Spielberg, who is a world renown director of countless memorable films, show cases his incredible skill and compelling power towards the audience, without using any dialogue in the most pivotal character development scene in Schindler s List. Referred too, by the audience as The girl in red . Before I delve in to the depths of this scene and why it is so significant to the film, it is important I outline the story of Schindler s list. This film is all about Oskar Schindler; a successful business man, womanizer and member of the Nazi party. A true story, about a man making a living using Jewish workers in factories, producing anything from pots and pans too brass tank ammunition shells, during the height of WW2. Throughout the start of the film Schindler s humanity is questionable leaving to audience to ponder whether or not he is a hero or just another Nazi using the Jewish people as an easy and free work force. This all changes about a third of the way through the film, when the audience witnesses our questionable hero s fundamental change of heart for his Jewish working force and as discovered later on in the film, he spends more money than he can make trying to save them. What the audience witnesses, is of course the scene I am analysing. During a horse ride with Schindler s partner, he stops on top of a hill looking down on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Fante s description of Los Angeles during the depression of gaunt faces and lost humanity is haunting and riveting, as told through the eyes of a young man who is not altogether stable. The smog, traffic, dust, grime and shallow lifestyles of southern California were already present in 1939, making this story relevant still today. The earthquake scene in the story is just as realistic as it might be today, complete with military intervention and the emergence of human kindness in the face of disaster. Camilla, Arturo, Sammy, Vera and Hellfrick are all non entities in the bustle of L.A. culture, but all are profoundly human in their suffering, confusion, and vices. Literary Analysis Of The Poisonwood Bible Michela Murray Miss Keister AP English Literature 22 August 2014 The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, literary analysis In The Poisonwood Bible, symbolism is widely explored to allude to and explore ideas in a nonliteral sense, Methuselah, a parrot left behind and adopted by the Price family, is an example of this. Throughout the novel, his role as a symbol of the Congo is examined. Methuselah, kept in a cage and tended to by its new masters, knows little about the world of freedom. He has very little experience in fending for himself, and when Nathan releases him as a consequence for his foul language, he is oblivious to the behavior a wild parrot should exhibit. He remains near the house even after being released, still dependant on the Price family for food and shelter. This shows that through years of being cared for, the parrot lost its instincts to fend for itself leaving it open to attack and abuse, in comparison to the Congo, who under Belgian control lost the political and economic stability to stand on its own without Belgium to take control over it.... Chickamauga Creek is an area near Chattanooga, Tennessee and northwestern Georgia, plagued by war, suffering, and bloodshed from the Civil War (Bohannon). Bierce served in the Union Army during the American Civil War (Campbell). Many Americans then, and today, romanticize war with glory, heroism, and patriotism. The irrational mindset of leaders and generals in the Civil War led to needless bloodshed. Once the boy comes upon the soldiers retreating from battle, he pretends to lead them onward with his sword. The fact that he is pretending to lead them is significant in and of itself. Young men are thrown into war, and move up the ranks quickly due to causalities. They are often young and inexperienced, and catapulted into roles of leadership. Not having the experience to know how to be a leader, they pretend to be the leaders in the overdramatized, delusional war tales of heroism and patriotism, just as the boy did. He even tries to play with the soldiers, as they reminded him of the painted clown whom he had seen last summer in the circus (Bierce, 58 59). Just as inexperienced young officers enter the war with delusions of grandeur, oblivious of the realities of war, the boy is also oblivious of the grotesque situation he has come upon. The boy eventually found his way back to his home, which he found destroyed. Many of the leaders of the Civil War led their men across their own country, bruised, bloodied and battered, only to return to their own homes, which were destroyed by war, as well. • 42. The Effect Of Sleep Deprivation On Seizure A study on the effect of sleep deprivation on seizure in epilepsy disorder and its relation to signaling bathways in the brain People with seizure disorder usually have problems with their sleep. Daytime sleepiness, lack of energy and drowsiness are frequently seen in epileptic patients. Baseline electrical activity has been vastly studied in epilepsy. Seizures can be either partial or generalized. Based on the area of the brain triggered by epileptic waves, any kind of motor or sensory abnormalities can happen in partial seizure. If the whole brain cortex is triggered, generalized tonic clonic seizure can happen, which is the classic shaking of the body and loss of consciousness. Generalized seizures may be followed by a post ictal period in which the patient will be heavily drowsy and may experience memory loss for a short amount of time. It has been shown that epileptic patients can reach threshold potentials more readily than the normal population and lack of sleep can be a trigger for causing a seizure [1]. The circadian rhythm, synchronizing role of thalamo cortical networks, and reduced intracortical inhibition have been suggested as underlying physiologic factors elicited by sleep deprivation that make a patient more prone to seizure activity. The abnormal progress from resting potential to a wild epileptic wave can be triggered by sleep deprivation as lack of sleep alters the neural resting potential. Progressivism can be loosely defined as a way to progress towards better conditions, which is what many people aspired to do for their country during the Gilded Age. This ideal came about when people began to see poverty become more popular throughout the country, and many blamed the government. Americans believed the solution was to have the government fixed before it could fix other problems. Muckrakers were the first people to articulate progressive ideas by uncovering corruption, targeting government and social problems, and raising awareness through journalism and literature. A big thing that Elizabeth did on Earth was that she spent 150 dollars of her own money on her dad s birthday present and was determined to somehow give it to her dad. She then does not move on from this and tries to make contact to people on Earth. She then finds to be a bad decision, which is when this lesson comes through into the text. I can relate to this concept, as when I say or do something that I regret, I make sure that I do not say or do anything of the sort ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Associative learning is when an organism links two events that occur close in time. When an organism learns to make associations, it is being conditioned. There are two types of conditioning. Operant conditioning is when an organism associates an action and the consequence of that action. It results in the organism adapting its behavior to maximize rewards and minimize punishment (Skinner). On the other hand, classical conditioning is a type of learning where an organism associates a certain stimulus and the response to it with a different stimulus. A neutral stimulus is associated with an unconditioned response to an unconditioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After not receiving a reward, and flicking herself several times, improvement was noted the following day. She maintained good posture for nine hours, and was rewarded at dinner. On the last day, she maintained good posture for twelve hours. Discussion The behavior that the girl was trying to minimize is a problem that many people suffer from. However, like the girl, many people also change their behavior in certain circumstances. The girl has learned to stand up straight through classical conditioning. When the girl was younger, the girl was complimented by her parents when she sat up straight. The praise of her good posture was the unconditioned stimulus, and the pleasure that she felt at this praise was the unconditioned response. As the girl grew older, she would notice that her parents would praise her even more when she had good posture and impressed an authoritative figure, such as a teacher or principal. The authoritative figures that she associated praise with were the conditioned stimuli. As such, her conditioned response was to sit up straighter when talking to an adult of authority. So, when she is with an authoritative figure, she modifies her posture in an attempt to impress them. If nobody cared whether someone had good or bad posture, then the action of straightening up would go extinct. Extinction is when a conditioned response ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is one of the key points why there were many kingdoms in the continent of Europe because they are capable of self supporting and was able to keep the manor system stable and have their own economic system. • 57. Computer Science Mythbusters Research Paper Dailton Rabelo CS305 Mythbusters There are many Computer Science myths that are propagated throughout modern media. These technical myths can be seen as positive and sometimes negative. A big myth that is often propagated is the idea of hacking as an individual. Hackers are seen to possess a sort of superpower that allows them to hack anything alone. In movies and tv shows, hackers are shown to be able to infiltrate everything from social media accounts to governments. I want to debunk the myth that hacking is not done quickly by a single person like we see in the movies. Instead, to be the most effective, hackers form groups which enables them to solve difficult problems in a timely manner. In a clip from the movie Swordfish Stanley, a hacker, is forced to hack the Department of Justice. He is forced to help by Gabriel, the antagonist, who puts a gun to his head. Gabriel says the best hackers in the world are said to be able to do this in 60 minutes. I want you to do it in 60 seconds. In the end of the scene, the hacker is able to complete the job in 60 seconds. This scene pushes forward the idea that a single person can hack the government in less than one minute without preparation beforehand. This myth is dangerous ... They were upset about a specific movie that Sony was releasing, which depicted North Korea s government as a parody. After threatening Sony to take it down, they finally hacked them. They took over 100tb of data from it s servers. That data included emails between executives and even a handful of unreleased movies. (Griffin, Andrew) This hack was unprecedented in its scale and vengeance. Because of its scale, this hack could only be accomplished by a group working towards a single goal. Since I was 12 years old, I ve been going to Wakeshma every summer for a week. This camp is so simple yet so fun and exciting. I m driving to camp with William Fulton and our moms when we turn onto Camp Wakeshma Rd. and go under the huge sign reading the name. We arrive late to camp due to a baseball tournament, but we check in and put our belongings in the cabin. William and I say our goodbyes and go find the rest of our cabin. Afterwards we line up for dinner by the flagpole. Nobody could help but realize one of our cabin mates lostan arm due to cancer. At night when we get ready for bed I see him change his shirt revealing his scars. As I go to bed, I don t think much of it. Today is a drag. Every year I can never sleep good the first night and this year it s no different. We do our regular routine leading up to lunch and discuss more rules while standing at the flagpole. Tony, the campunit leader called our cabin to go in first and we made our way into the cafeteria. I stood atop of the stage where our table sat and you could hear the doors whine as the hungry kids pass through. Everyone is restless and excited for the first full day of camp. I m just as excited as everyone even though I m one of the oldest campers. The cafeteria was like a giant school bus with rows of loud kids. DINGGG the bell rings to capture everyone s attention. Tony announces we re having chicken bacon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
