Caste Based Poitics in India
Is India a
Caste Democracy ?
Introduction: Caste based politics in India
Though the idea that caste is a part of a natural and moral order of things, that it is a hereditary quality
which once for all defines ones position and occupational affiliation and which is associated with a
particular law of conduct is rejected both by intellectuals and political leaders, caste is in Indian post
independence politics continually used and abused in different ways.
State politics in India has been particularly the hot bed of political casteism. Caste enters much more
directly into the composition of political elites at the state level. For example the mysore cabinet is
dominated by Lingayats and Vokkaliga, the Maharashtra Cabinet by Marathas, ... Show more content

Caste, once an instrument for the maintenance of hierarchy, is, paradoxically, seen as a vehicle for
egalitarianism between castes, though not within them. But which type of identity is politically salient
of course varies in a land as great, as stratified, and as pluralistic and heterogeneous as India over time
and territory. While caste identities and Hindu nationalism are now particularly salient in the north of
India, regional and linguistic identities are strong in Assam and the states of northeast, class identity
and membership serves as a basis for mobilization and political action in Kerala and West Bengal.
Not only is caste institutionalized in politics through the system of reservations, which guarantee seats
in government, access to educational institutions and employment in the administrative (which is a
way how to get into position of political power) for selected large segments of society, but caste based
organizations are also emerging within the framework of the civil society. The particular group rights
remain a source of conflict between those who support them and those who oppose them while the
forward castes oriented more towards the equality of opportunity than equality of outcome together
with Hindu nationalist, who perceive the reservations as

Wild Card Game Controversy
My passion is being at stadiums of big games that decide if a team makes it to the playoffs, or if they
make it to the wild card game. I would love to start a sports program where we give the fans the
ability to watch the game how they want to want to watch it. Every fan has seen at least one game
when the commentary was biased against your team. Every fan has seen at least one game where they
wouldn t show a replay that, in your eyes, was a controversial play. The program I want to start will
help elevate all of those problems. I want to start a program where we have three different versions of
the same game. One version has a commentary biased toward the home team, one biased toward the
visiting team; the last is a non biased commentary.

A Note On Crime Prevention
Crime Prevention
Businesses that use a cash drawer, can be particularly susceptible to employee theft. Cash is always a
higher temptation because it is easy to take and easy to hide and difficult for employers to trace. Still,
there are quite a few processes that can be put into place to dissuade employees from stealing and
from the business. A few options include:
1) Separate Cash Drawers At the beginning of every shift a counted cash drawer should be given to
each cashier. This provides a definitive starting amount for reference. Each cashier should be
responsible for their own individual drawer. Shared drawers will make it impossible to pinpoint which
employee might be the one stealing if a situation occurs.
2) Verifying Cash Drawer Counts Each cashier should count the cash in the drawer provided to them
at the beginning of the shift. After counting, the employee must sign the register tape to confirm that
the cash amount and the sales tape are in balance. This prevents discrepancies regarding the amount a
drawer had when the shift began.
3) Mid shift Readings At some point during each shift, without advanced notice, a manager should
take the current drawer and provide a new drawer to each cashier. A sales report should be run on the
used drawer to verify that it is in balance. This measure will prevent cashiers from storing stolen cash
in the drawer during their shift. A second drawer swap should periodically be conducted as well to
prevent predictability of the

The Importance of Flag Detail in the Military Essay
The Importance of Flag Detail
In today s society, the American flag is a symbol of freedom, liberty, and justice among a number of
other values. As Americans, we value the flag for its representation during the revolutionary war and
the everlasting significance of today. As soldiers, we pledge to honor, serve, and protect the flag and
the United States of America at all cost. In this paper, the relationship between the American flag and
the United States Army will be explored through the histories of both. Furthermore, the importance of
flag detail will be discussed by linking the two entities together as one. Without the American flag s
representation, the Army has no purpose; no means to exist.
The first American flag was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

globe including: World War 1, World War 2, Korean War, Vietnam War, and many others. The military
of today as of 2009 consists of the around 2 million soldiers stretched across the five main branches:
Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marine Corps. Today s United States Army consists of over
1 million soldiers with about half serving on active duty. The United States Army follows 7 basic
principles: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. It is the duty
of an American soldier to defend the US flag which symbolizes the United States of America.
As seen in the histories of the United States Army and the American flag, the two of them go hand and
hand. It is important as soldiers to honor the flag and take flag detail seriously. The American flag is a
symbol of all the brothers who have died for the United States, all the people that are allowed to live
free in our democratic government, and the people in other countries that now able to do the same due
to the United States efforts. According to the article, Honoring the Flag Detail More Than Raising,

Stephen King Gothic Elements
Stephen King s The Boogeyman was my favorite piece of gothic literature that we read. I was trying
to figure the story out all the way until the end and had to re read some of it to fully understand. It was
suspenseful, scary, but also had a good story to listen to. The Boogeyman was full of gloomy settings,
monsters, characters in distress, and intense emotions. These 4 things are just a couple elements that
make up gothic literature.
The first element of gothic literature that I noticed in The Boogeyman was the gloomy setting. The
way the man described his house was chilling. He made it sound cold, haunted, and all around gave
the house a bad vibe. He says, I heard a noise in there one night. And then she screamed. I opened the
door real quick the hall light was on and. . . she was sitting up in the crib crying and. . . something
moved. Back in the shadows, by the closet. Something slithered. Here he is talking about his own
daughter s room and how something was in there and he did nothing. I couldn t believe that, his own
child was in distress and he was too full of pride to admit to his wife that he wanted to protect or baby
their child. Her room was described as creepy enough without the monster. The gloomy setting helps
show that this is gothic literature.
The second element of gothic literature that I noticed in The Boogeyman was the ... Show more

Checking A Car s Brake System
It is very important you get your brakes inspected and fixed when something goes wrong. You can
avoid getting scammed by taking your car to a reliable auto repair center for a quality brake inspection
or brake repair. A car s brake system is complex, so it needs proper care and maintenance.
If you suspect that there may be a problem with your brake system, you should get it checked out

Theoretical Reflection On The Gospel Of Mark
For our first theoretical reflection we were assigned to read the gospel of Mark. Taking on this reading
requires an opened mindset and concentration. Reading this passage was hard for me because when I
am in church listening to the gospel readings, I do admit to lack interest. I read the gospel of Mark to
myself first because it takes time for me to analyze and process the event that occurs in the reading.
After reading the gospel to myself I listened to the audio reading. Listening to the audio version of the
gospel helped me find a deeper meaning to the reading. This allowed me to be part of the reading as if
I am there during that time. While I was looking over the reading there were many factors that went
into understanding the reading. I reread certain parts because I did not understand what was occurring
during a certain event. If I had no knowledge of the gospel and what was happening, then reading this
would have been a lot tougher on me. Since I somewhat know the broad stories of the gospel from
growing up and attending mass on Sundays, it help me have a background going into the reading.
There are a lot of small details about which the events occurred and how people felt back in Jesus s
time. The ability for someone to retell the story of Jesus s life is extraordinary. Following the gospel
help me get a better understanding of what went on during this time and how people have evolved
throughout the years. The story being told of Jesus s life through the Bible is

The Wire And Not Plato
It s all in the game. Though these words belong to the nefarious Omar Little of HBO s critically
acclaimed The Wire and not Plato, they nonetheless remain relevant. If anything, the game is akin to
Plato s allegory of the cave and the shadows that it casts. That being said, I will make the argument
that anyone who doesn t play by the rules of the game or tries to alter it, much like the prisoner who
sees the light and goes back to aid his fellow prisoners, will be rejected. The only means of retaining a
livelihood in the context of the Wire and its characters is to remain in the cave and entertain the idea
of the shadows being reality for just as the prisoners in the cave are disillusioned by the shadows they
perceive to be reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I. According to the website article, Acute vs. Chronic Stress, there are two different kinds of stress that
we will potentially face in our lifetime
A. Short term (Chronic) 1.Short term stress is the most common type that we face and are the little
everyday things. This is experienced when specific events or situations that involve novelty,
unpredictability, a threat to the ego, and leave us with a poor sense of control. (Acute vs. Chronic
Stress, 1) B. Long term (Acute) 1. This is much more dangerous and serious. Some acute stresses stem
from traumatic, early childhood experiences that become internalized and remain forever painful and
present. This type of stress can cause wear and tear on your mind and body. Many scientists think that
our stress response system was not designed to be constantly activated... (Acute vs. Chronic Stress,1)

The Basel Committee On Banking Supervision
The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has developed a regulatory capital framework for
operational risk measurement and introduced three approaches: the Basic Indicator Approach (BIA),
the Standardized Approach (SA) and the Advanced Measurement Approach (AMA).The identification
and measurement of operational risk can be viewed as following either the top down approach or the
bottom up approach depending on the method used to calculate the risk charge. In the top down
approach, the financial data is extracted from the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss statement. This
method may not result in the proper capturing of risks nor does it help in risk mitigation. This
approach corresponds with the Basic Indicator Approach and the Standardized Approach of Basel II
Accord. The third approach of the Accord i.e. Advanced Measurement Approach, is consistent with
bottom up approach in which the regulatory capital requirement will be defined by the estimate
generated by the internal operational risk measurement system (Rajeev, 2004).
The Basic Indicator Approach (BIA)
The BIA is the simplest of the three approaches to calculate operational risk capital charge. This
approach uses a single indicator i.e. gross income as a proxy for a bank s overall operational risk
exposure. The bank is required to measure the average positive gross income over the previous three
years. The years with negative gross income are excluded. The gross income is computed as net
interest income plus net

Reflection On Spiritual Orientation
I reflect on my learning and practice in the past few weeks in the areas of class reading and teaching,
triads, meeting with directees in sessions and supervision. My class reading and teaching in the last
few weeks provide me with a concrete idea about spiritual direction. My understanding is that in the
spiritual direction relationship, the director is to listen to on an ongoing conversation between the
directee and God. The Holy Spirit has already been at work in the directee s life before the direction
session and will continue to be at work after the session is over. Typical spiritual direction questions
are Where is God in this? or Where has God gone and why don t I sense any divine presence at all? It
is important that spiritual direction arises out of inviting and listening to God. One thing I learn and
need to remind myself constantly is that I should not have the attitude or expectation to resolve the
issue in the session. The focus on the session should be about what goes on between the directee and
the Holy Spirit. The learning of the triads helps me to put my learning into practice and build my
confidence in carrying out session. Those questions raised in the triad on reflecting the experience of
spiritual direction helps me to be aware of my deepest feeling, noticing God s presence or a sense of
holiness. The group learning provides a supportive and encouraging experience. The learning of the
triads allows me to appreciate the role of a

When leaders allow team members input on decisions, it gives them a sense of authority that in turn

Women s Behavior Or Aggressiveness Towards The Bobo Doll...
Bobo Doll Experiment Accomplishment is socially judged by ill defined criteria so that one has to rely
on others to find out how one is doing (Bandura). In the 1960s and 1970s, being a psychologist was
difficult. In order to prove a theory, you would have to conduct different experiments that would lead
to a conclusion that was still criticized by society. An example, of a psychologist that had difficulty
with his experiment is Albert Bandura. In the Bobo Doll Experiment, Albert Bandura used different
methods, on groups of kids of different ages and genders. To understand the Bobo Doll Experiment,
one must first know what Albert Bandura s experiment was about, how it correlates to children s
aggression, and how television and games contribute to children s behavior. The purpose of Albert
Bandura experiment was to study the children s behavior or aggressiveness toward the Bobo doll, after
observing an adult being aggressive toward the doll themselves. This experiment is now known as The
Bobo Experiment. According to the Association for Psychological Science, Albert Bandura conducted
this Bobo doll experiment with children as young as three years old and as old as 6 years old. Bandura

Tar Sands, By Jon Brownell
Tar Sands Essay Jon Brownell The Alberta Tar Sands are large deposits of bitumen,a sticky, black and
viscous semi solid form of petroleum.(Merriam Webster) The bitumen is extracted from the earth and
separated from materials that are not petroleum. This process consumes both water from the
Athabasca River drainage basin and energy. While emissions from the water used are low the airborne
pollutants contain more than 350 kilograms of cancer causing chemicals every four months.(Kelly)
Also, bitumen is one of the least efficient power sources in the world.(Rapier) The Tar Sands are
dangerous for people to live near, are environmentally damaging and unsustainable and are an
inefficient source of power compared to other sources available in Canada. While the Tar Sands are
currently good for the canadian economy, in the long term they will cost us more than they make. The
content of cancer causing chemicals like PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) is twice as high as
the standard recommended by the national oceanic and atmospheric administration in the United
States. These levels have been observed to cause liver cancer in fish. (Timoney 68) Fish from Lake
Athabasca have been found with deformities other than liver cancer, like lumps or bumps. Cancer
levels in people who live in Fort Chipewyan are much higher than in other parts of the country.

Human Population On Earth s Life
It is terrifying to realize that the human population on Earth has reached over 7.3 billion people. This
astonishing and constantly increasing amount of people threatens our planet s limited resources. It is
times like these that make me nostalgic for the feudal ages, where large populations of people were
decimated by illnesses such as the plague. The advances in modern medicine today, while extremely
impressive, are ultimately extremely detrimental to the human population as a whole because they
surprisingly help prevent people from dying. How dare they! Humans are starting to get a better
quality of life due to the many advances in medical technology and knowledge, but at what cost?
People won t die! The question is, why should we, as a society, try to prevent people from dying when
it s inevitable? In the animal kingdom, it s everyone for themselves, or survival of the fittest. If people
are too weak to fight off an illness, or too stupid to find a way to stay alive, then they should die.
There have been many other extremely knowledgeable humans who agree that eventually, the earth s
carrying capacity will no longer be able to keep up with population growth, and civilization will end
unless large swaths of human beings are killed, so the question is: How do we want to do this? In a
very credible and well esteemed publication, Dr. Edwin Peters, a Cambridge University ecologist
followed up this statement by asking a critical question: Do we want to give

Disney Misogyny
In Disney films, there is a lot of misogyny amongst female main characters. Many people in our
society have noticed a significant difference in the speaking roles between male and female characters
that Disney created, as men had way more lines than the women. Because these movies were mostly
created in the mid late 1900 s, this was the time that there was plenty of prejudice against females.
Now, in the year 2017, females are getting a little more equality than before to the point where many
females now have jobs that were only for males in the 1900 s. Most Disney movies for that matter
involve some sort of misogyny, even the ones that recently came out such as Brave and Frozen .
Examples of various levels of misogyny can be noticed in Disney films such as Ariel in The Little
Mermaid (1989), directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The movie is about a 16 year old
mermaid who wants to live on land with a human Prince named Eric but is only able to after making a
dangerous wish with Ursula the Sea Witch to be a human for three days. In this movie Ariel The
Mermaid , prejudice can be seen in Ursula, by a female having too much authority, Ariel cannot speak,
and Ariel uses her appearance to attract others.
Firstly, Ursula the Sea Witch can be seen with a ton of power. The power turns Ursula evil and
manipulative, which shows that females that have too much power should be removed from society,
just like Ursula. ...And now, look at me wasted away to practically

Salem Witch Trials closely parallels to The Red Scare communist witch hunt of the 1960s. Many
people were killed and taken away from their families in the 1950s. In the Crucible people were
accused of being witches and that is significant because in the Red Scare people were often accused of

Pusat Sains Negara , have the same purposes in which to allow the public gain knowledges from their
visits. The National Library building design was influenced by the concept of a traditional Malay men
head gear called tengkolok songket which can be seen exteriorly.
Most of the public building as mentioned above used a traditional approach in it s design concept.
This indicated that part of the traditional influences is still being use locally in the progress of forming
the urban characteristic of Kuala Lumpur.
Other than all the mentioned buildings in previous pages, the other major components in contributing
urbanism in Malaysia is the old local shophouses which also had been the source of economic growth
and helps in the local urban development around 1970s.
In 20th century, three storey shophouses were built in Kuala Lumpur and had been quite popular in
comparison to other single and double storey shophouses in other places due to the high demand of
land values and urban progression to accommodate increasing capacity, also to provides enough
neccessities and needs of the town people back at that time. Although the storey height of the
shophouses is increasing, the plot arrangement and layout remains the same along the existing street
following the traditional method of linkages. Practically, this kind of development using the traditional

Difference Between Athens And Sparta
Athens and Sparta are two interesting city states in ancient Greece where someone could choose to
live depending on the inclination of the individual. Some individuals might choose to live in Athens
because of the system of government and developmental philosophy while other individuals could
choose to live in Sparta because of its military and warrior like philosophy.
In Athens, there is an element of respect for the will of the people, which is known as a democratic
system of choosing leaders (Ancient Greek Democracy, 2010) while Sparta had a different way of life
(Oligarchy) and create incentives for citizens, even outsiders to love its system. For instance,
aristocrats in the city state of Athens really appreciate the Spartan system where ... Show more content

First and foremost, I like a society where knowledge is regarded as the ultimate; a society that breeds
intellectuals and promote philosophical dialogue. Athens happens to be that place (Brand, n.d.).
Secondly, absolute independence runs in my vein and in Athens that is what they had in place;
independence to determine who governs the society at any given period. Although the Athenian
democracy was not as advanced compared to what we have in these modern times, however, the
system helped to shape our modern worldview in one way or the other (Cartledge, 2011). While critics
of the Athenian democracy would argue that aristocrats were often imposing their manipulative
agenda on the government, I would acknowledge that fact to be a part of democracy even in the 21st
century where some powerful people can twist their agenda on a government. A typical example is the
National Rifle Association (NRA), who would not let any government or elected official dare discuss
any amendment in firearms regulation (McGreal, 2015). What is apparent about democracy is that it
enables a society to participate in the government formation. That is why Athens would be my livable

Running Head: The Increasing Costs of Olympics and The primary driving force for hosting the
famed Olympic Games has always hinged on the economic impact. Ideally, the cause factor has been
that the running process determines the beneficial outcome in play. According to Baade and Matheson
(n.d), the prevailing perception is that a well organized and properly run Olympics is expected to
generate billions of dollars in profit. The economic incentives and other motivations such as political
prestige have seen nations compete intensively for the hosting chance. The misconceptions from the
economic value have seen a lot of compromise by the standards of the bidding process with significant
occurrence of wrong behaviors. Due to the growing in discrepancies arising from the quest to host
these games, questions on whether the Olympics are worth the extraordinary investment in praise of it.
This paper purposes to evaluate the increasing cost of Olympics and the decreasing interests by
countries in hosting the famed games. In part, the paper will analyse the transition from traditional
Olympics to modern day Olympics laying the history of this transformation about the given economic
interests. Also, the paper looks into the marketing and various incomes of the international. In the

History of the Internet
Internet
The Internet is a child of the 1960s. 1969 was when the first network of computers, ARPANET,
communicated with one another. I took a full decade before the Internet was developed. In 1984,
domain names were introduced, bringing with them, the familiar suffixes of com and org
(Anonymous, 2013).
It didn t become widely used until the 1990s when two significant developments arrived. In 1991, the
World Wide Web (Web 1.0) was released, along with hyper links, which made navigation easier than
in previous years, and, in 1993, the first Web browser, Mosaic, arrived, making for a graphical user
experience. By the mid 1990s, an estimated 45 million people were using the Internet (Anonymous,
2013).
However, today s internet use isn t a side activity, it s quite the opposite. It s the main. Everyone is

Examples Of Positive And Negative Framinging
Engin 270a Quiz
Please complete this quiz and the upload it to the assignment tab when you are finished.
Please define and explain how positive/negative framing works. Please provide one real world
example.
Framing can be defined as the manipulation of others through the use of their perception of reality and
the social constructs behind their behavior. By playing on the perspective with which one presents a
situation, one can influence the outcome of the decision process of the counterpart. Thus, positive and
negative framing are cognitive biases.
On one hand, negative framing uses the fact that when people are choosing between a sure loss and a
gamble, they tend to be risk seeking and they gamble. On the other hand, positive framing uses the
fact that when people are choosing between a sure win and a gamble, they tend to be risk averse and
choose the certain perceived as safe outcome.
Actually, one real world example of framing is the way the results new drugs are presented to
physicians. Depending on whether or not clinical trials results are presented as 5 out of 10 patients
taking this new drug report not being completely cured whereas 5 out of 10 patients taking this new
drug report being cured, it influences the decision made by the clinicians. From the mathematical
standpoint, there is no difference between both statements However, what happens in reality is that
this tends to influence physicians judgements of framing. This generic real world example follows
several papers in the literature like [1],[2].
Please define and explain how anchoring and adjustment works. Please provide one real world
example.
Anchoring and adjustment is a cognitive bias insidiously induced by the importance we give to the
first information it perceive. From this systematic mistake, the information imprints itself and we
unconsciously build upon it for future estimates, impressions, judgments of number, persons,
decisions.
Actually, one real world example of anchoring and adjustment is salary negotiation at play during a
job interview. Recruiters tend to ask the recruit their current/former salary. Afterwards, the move onto
the salary they offer you. What happens is that, our former

Everyday we place our trust in people and the services those people provide. We trust that our friends
will not betray our confidences, that the water we drink will not make us ill, that the building we work
in will not collapse, that the vendor we buy from will not overcharge us, and so forth. In order to be

My Interest On Maternal Mortality, Morbidity, And Health
My interest in maternal mortality, morbidity, and health was first piqued by my mother, who has
always worked in the field. As I got older, I began to more completely grasp the topics that she dealt
with, and the implications they had for women universally. Even to this day, I cannot understand why
women, the creators of life, do not receive more respect, or even regard, for the services they provide
humanity. That is why this topic interests me so much, because even after reading all the material
about how women are mistreated and abused in regard to their childbearing abilities and processes, it
always brings me back to asking the question, why women?
Despite the evidence that universal access to contraception results in fewer newborn and maternal
deaths, helps create stronger communities by empowering women and girls, and leads to more girls
staying in school for longer, which in turn increases their lifetime earnings and opportunities, there is
still a huge number of women and girls around the world that have an unmet need for modern
contraception. The Millennium Development Goals for 2015 called for universal access to
contraception by the end of 2015, and while some progress has been made, it doesn t seem that the
goal will be achieved. In 2012, however, at the London Summit on Family Planning some momentum
was gained on the matter. The summit brought together governments, civil society groups,
multinational organizations, and the private sector who all committed to

What do you think were the root causes for Chiquita’s...
Historically, the banana trade symbolized economic imperialism, injustices in the global trade market,
and the exploitation of agriculture dependent third world countries (2). However, they remain to be
one of the most profitable items in grocery stores. Making bananas crucial to economic and global
food stability for countries all over the world. They are the third largest staple crop, coming only after
wheat and coffee. Since bananas are such a sought after fruit, many companies have gone to extensive
lengths in the to fight for a share of the market. Chiquita Brands International was one of the pioneer
companies to try and globalize bananas. They took a risk and made some very critical mistakes along
the way.

It seems that in going through Chiquita s company background, that they have been somewhat of a
shady brand since its origin. Eli Black, CEO in 1970, paid a US$1.25 million bribe to Honduran
official in return for them reducing taxes on the company s banana exports. He then proceeded to kill
himself. The next CEO, Carl Linder, was know for bottom fishing and led the company into bankrupty
in 2002. Next in line to assume the title was Agguire.
It seemed that he was faced with an overwhelming load of problems from Chiquita s past, but he
quickly decided on the best way to fix it. He told CEO Magazine in 2007, [Chiquita s] key challenge
is to control costs while supporting innovation efforts. Cost saving programs have not been nearly
enough to offset higher industry and other costs. He said also that the second challenge is to remain
agile in a competitive, fast paced marketplace that is characterized by growing consumer expectations
[...] and that in order to strengthen the [...] power of the brand, [they] are developing strategies based
on consumer brands for healthy, fresh foods and focusing on diversification and innovation (5). He
made it clear from the beginning that Chiquita would be transitioning from the low margin operations
to a company that produced more value added products. Also, that they would begin to maintain an
excellent record of food safety, quality, management, customer service, and in store

Essay about Richard as an Anti-hero
Richard as an Anti hero:
To what extent does Richard embody this archetype?
In William Shakespeare s play, Richard III, Richard is portrayed as physically deformed and
psychologically affected. It is believed that his inner soul is a reflection of his physical deformities.
Richard is considered as the protagonist of this play, however this is highly contradictive. A
protagonist is the hero of the story who exhibits characteristics of courage and perseverance, and is
admired for their brave deeds as well as their noble qualities. Richard however, contradicts the
character portrayal of a hero and demonstrates himself as the exact opposite: an anti hero. The play
opens up with Richard s, (Duke of Gloucester) soliloquy: I am determined to ... Show more content on

Richard says to Lady Anne: Your beauty was the cause of the effect:
Your beauty, that did haunt me in my sleep
To undertake the death of all the world,
So I might live one hour in your sweet bosom (1.2.126 129)
Richard takes a huge risk, handing Anne a knife and demanding she take away his life for he had
murdered both her father and husband. He insists to her it is only fair that she take his life in response.
Lady Anne rejects, falling for Richard s trap for she accepts his proposal of love. Richard succeeds in
manipulation. In the scene, Richard plays the role of a lover who will provide Anne with the emotional
support she would need; especially after suffering two loses. By persuading and manipulating Lady
Anne, Richard was able to get what he was really after; the power and a truce with the house of
Lancaster. This method of persuasion and manipulation are the basic fundamentals that Richard uses
on those he sees as useful in accomplishing his devilish deeds.
Family, loyalty, trust and marriage are some of the values and traditions that Richard ignores. Richard
acts like a caring brother (to Clarence), devoted lover, the innocent who is unjustly accused, a pious
man of God and the simple fellow who is too modest to become King (Cambridge 235). I will deliver
for you or else lie for you (1, 1,115.) are the exact words that Richard expresses to Clarence when
Clarence was being sent to the tower. As soon as Clarence is out of sight, Richard s

Introduction: Caste based politics in India Though the idea that caste is a part of a natural and moral order of things, that it is a hereditary quality which once for all defines ones position and occupational affiliation and which is associated with a particular law of conduct is rejected both by intellectuals and political leaders, caste is in Indian post independence politics continually used and abused in different ways. • 4. A Note On Crime Prevention Crime Prevention Businesses that use a cash drawer, can be particularly susceptible to employee theft. Cash is always a higher temptation because it is easy to take and easy to hide and difficult for employers to trace. Still, there are quite a few processes that can be put into place to dissuade employees from stealing and from the business. A few options include: 1) Separate Cash Drawers At the beginning of every shift a counted cash drawer should be given to each cashier. This provides a definitive starting amount for reference. Each cashier should be responsible for their own individual drawer. Shared drawers will make it impossible to pinpoint which employee might be the one stealing if a situation occurs. 2) Verifying Cash Drawer Counts Each cashier should count the cash in the drawer provided to them at the beginning of the shift. After counting, the employee must sign the register tape to confirm that the cash amount and the sales tape are in balance. This prevents discrepancies regarding the amount a drawer had when the shift began. 3) Mid shift Readings At some point during each shift, without advanced notice, a manager should take the current drawer and provide a new drawer to each cashier. A sales report should be run on the used drawer to verify that it is in balance. This measure will prevent cashiers from storing stolen cash in the drawer during their shift. A second drawer swap should periodically be conducted as well to prevent predictability of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was trying to figure the story out all the way until the end and had to re read some of it to fully understand. It was suspenseful, scary, but also had a good story to listen to. The Boogeyman was full of gloomy settings, monsters, characters in distress, and intense emotions. These 4 things are just a couple elements that make up gothic literature. The first element of gothic literature that I noticed in The Boogeyman was the gloomy setting. The way the man described his house was chilling. He made it sound cold, haunted, and all around gave the house a bad vibe. He says, I heard a noise in there one night. And then she screamed. I opened the door real quick the hall light was on and. . . she was sitting up in the crib crying and. . . something moved. Back in the shadows, by the closet. Something slithered. Here he is talking about his own daughter s room and how something was in there and he did nothing. I couldn t believe that, his own child was in distress and he was too full of pride to admit to his wife that he wanted to protect or baby their child. Her room was described as creepy enough without the monster. The gloomy setting helps show that this is gothic literature. • 11. Theoretical Reflection On The Gospel Of Mark For our first theoretical reflection we were assigned to read the gospel of Mark. Taking on this reading requires an opened mindset and concentration. Reading this passage was hard for me because when I am in church listening to the gospel readings, I do admit to lack interest. I read the gospel of Mark to myself first because it takes time for me to analyze and process the event that occurs in the reading. After reading the gospel to myself I listened to the audio reading. Listening to the audio version of the gospel helped me find a deeper meaning to the reading. This allowed me to be part of the reading as if I am there during that time. While I was looking over the reading there were many factors that went into understanding the reading. I reread certain parts because I did not understand what was occurring during a certain event. If I had no knowledge of the gospel and what was happening, then reading this would have been a lot tougher on me. Since I somewhat know the broad stories of the gospel from growing up and attending mass on Sundays, it help me have a background going into the reading. There are a lot of small details about which the events occurred and how people felt back in Jesus s time. The ability for someone to retell the story of Jesus s life is extraordinary. In the top down approach, the financial data is extracted from the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss statement. This method may not result in the proper capturing of risks nor does it help in risk mitigation. This approach corresponds with the Basic Indicator Approach and the Standardized Approach of Basel II Accord. Reflection On Spiritual Orientation I reflect on my learning and practice in the past few weeks in the areas of class reading and teaching, triads, meeting with directees in sessions and supervision. My class reading and teaching in the last few weeks provide me with a concrete idea about spiritual direction. My understanding is that in the spiritual direction relationship, the director is to listen to on an ongoing conversation between the directee and God. The Holy Spirit has already been at work in the directee s life before the direction session and will continue to be at work after the session is over. Typical spiritual direction questions are Where is God in this? or Where has God gone and why don t I sense any divine presence at all? It is important that spiritual direction arises out of inviting and listening to God. One thing I learn and need to remind myself constantly is that I should not have the attitude or expectation to resolve the issue in the session. The focus on the session should be about what goes on between the directee and the Holy Spirit. The learning of the triads helps me to put my learning into practice and build my confidence in carrying out session. How dare they! Humans are starting to get a better quality of life due to the many advances in medical technology and knowledge, but at what cost? People won t die! The question is, why should we, as a society, try to prevent people from dying when it s inevitable? In the animal kingdom, it s everyone for themselves, or survival of the fittest. Many people in our society have noticed a significant difference in the speaking roles between male and female characters that Disney created, as men had way more lines than the women. Now, in the year 2017, females are getting a little more equality than before to the point where many females now have jobs that were only for males in the 1900 s. Most Disney movies for that matter involve some sort of misogyny, even the ones that recently came out such as Brave and Frozen . Examples of various levels of misogyny can be noticed in Disney films such as Ariel in The Little Mermaid (1989), directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. • 30. Examples Of Positive And Negative Framinging Engin 270a Quiz Please complete this quiz and the upload it to the assignment tab when you are finished. Please define and explain how positive/negative framing works. Please provide one real world example. Framing can be defined as the manipulation of others through the use of their perception of reality and the social constructs behind their behavior. By playing on the perspective with which one presents a situation, one can influence the outcome of the decision process of the counterpart. Thus, positive and negative framing are cognitive biases. On one hand, negative framing uses the fact that when people are choosing between a sure loss and a gamble, they tend to be risk seeking and they gamble. On the other hand, positive framing uses the fact that when people are choosing between a sure win and a gamble, they tend to be risk averse and choose the certain perceived as safe outcome. Actually, one real world example of framing is the way the results new drugs are presented to physicians. Depending on whether or not clinical trials results are presented as 5 out of 10 patients taking this new drug report not being completely cured whereas 5 out of 10 patients taking this new drug report being cured, it influences the decision made by the clinicians. From the mathematical standpoint, there is no difference between both statements However, what happens in reality is that this tends to influence physicians judgements of framing. This generic real world example follows several papers in the literature like [1],[2]. Please define and explain how anchoring and adjustment works. Please provide one real world example. Anchoring and adjustment is a cognitive bias insidiously induced by the importance we give to the first information it perceive. From this systematic mistake, the information imprints itself and we unconsciously build upon it for future estimates, impressions, judgments of number, persons, decisions. Actually, one real world example of anchoring and adjustment is salary negotiation at play during a job interview. Recruiters tend to ask the recruit their current/former salary. • 32. My Interest On Maternal Mortality, Morbidity, And Health My interest in maternal mortality, morbidity, and health was first piqued by my mother, who has always worked in the field. As I got older, I began to more completely grasp the topics that she dealt with, and the implications they had for women universally. Even to this day, I cannot understand why women, the creators of life, do not receive more respect, or even regard, for the services they provide humanity. That is why this topic interests me so much, because even after reading all the material about how women are mistreated and abused in regard to their childbearing abilities and processes, it always brings me back to asking the question, why women? Despite the evidence that universal access to contraception results in fewer newborn and maternal deaths, helps create stronger communities by empowering women and girls, and leads to more girls staying in school for longer, which in turn increases their lifetime earnings and opportunities, there is still a huge number of women and girls around the world that have an unmet need for modern contraception. The Millennium Development Goals for 2015 called for universal access to contraception by the end of 2015, and while some progress has been made, it doesn t seem that the goal will be achieved. In 2012, however, at the London Summit on Family Planning some momentum was gained on the matter. The summit brought together governments, civil society groups, multinational organizations, and the private sector who all committed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Essay about Richard as an Anti-hero Richard as an Anti hero: To what extent does Richard embody this archetype? In William Shakespeare s play, Richard III, Richard is portrayed as physically deformed and psychologically affected. It is believed that his inner soul is a reflection of his physical deformities. Richard is considered as the protagonist of this play, however this is highly contradictive. A protagonist is the hero of the story who exhibits characteristics of courage and perseverance, and is admired for their brave deeds as well as their noble qualities. Richard however, contradicts the character portrayal of a hero and demonstrates himself as the exact opposite: an anti hero.
