The Figure Of A Snoot, By David Foster Wallace
I m sure that during our years in school, we have came in contact with someone we would classify as a
nerd. We would typically view this person as an overachiever or teacher s pet. That nerd was usually
the one who always passed their test, completed every assignment, read books for fun, and was very
eager to be the first one to raise their hand in class. They would always speak properly and often
corrected your grammar. Most people may view them as an annoying pest. That nerd would be
someone who David Foster Wallace would characterize as a SNOOT. Wallace wrote an essay where
he created an intellectual figure called a SNOOT. In this essay, I will better explain this intellectual
figure, how you can spot it early on in childhood, as well as compare them to Rodriguez from a past
essay. In an essay, written by David Foster Wallace, he creates a nonfiction character or intellectual
figure called a SNOOT. He defines a SNOOT to be someone who never fails to speak proper English
no matter where they go, is constantly correcting others grammar, and is fluent in standard written
English. In other words, a SNOOT is a grammar nerd. Wallace identifies himself with his made up
character and believes that not many people can be classified as a SNOOT. Wallace is a college
professor and finds it bothersome when his students fail to achieve grammatically correct language in
their writing. As a SNOOT he tends constantly have the urge to correct someone s grammar everytime
he gets the chance

Truman s Work Ethic And Determination
Truman America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an
unbeatable determination to do the job at hand Harry S Truman, this quote shows that nothing will get
in Truman s way and he will get around every obstacle. Truman, born May 8th 1884 in Lamar MO.
Unlike some other presidents and people of importance, Truman was not born into a family of wealth.
Without money Truman became successful through his work ethic and determination. Despite all of
Truman s struggles he always found a way to get through. Truman changed millions of lives, he
served as 33rd president of the United States. While serving as president Truman created The Truman
Doctrine and the Marshall Plan. He also helped form the UN and NATO and ... Show more content on

He had to make a name for himself alone. Truman was born on May 8th, 1884 in Lamar, Missouri, a
farm community. John Truman, Harry s father was a livestock trader. The Truman family settled in
independence, Missouri. In school Truman succeeded, he was a very strong student. Every night and
morning Truman had to milk a cow just so he was able to have milk for breakfast. But that s not all
Truman had to do to maintain happiness in the Truman household, he also had to slip wood, carry it,
and put it in the wood box behind the stove so he could get up in the morning to start a fire for
breakfast. When he was thirteen Truman would go to work before and after school and on the
weekends just to provide for his family and make money for college. In 1902 the Truman s moved to
Kansas City, where Truman found a job as a utility clerk at the national bank of commerce. Kansas
City was a thriving metropolis in the early years of the century. During school Truman was an avid
reader, he spent a lot of time reading books from the Independence public library. From 1906 until
1917 Truman worked on and helped manage the family farm near Grand View, Missouri. Even though
Truman worked long hours on the farm he still had the energy to do outside activities. While in
Kansas City he had enlisted in the Missouri national guard. Since Truman s family did not have

Background Summary:
Southwest airlines was founded in Texas in 1971 as a small, regional intra state carrier. They chose to
service the Golden Triangle of Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. By staying within Texan borders,
they could avoid federal regulations. They used Boeing 747 planes in their fleet. Since their inception,
they have been striving to become the leading low cost carrier in the ... Show more content on

They have been a multiple Triple Crown Winner in U.OT rankings. They have enjoyed thirty one
consecutive profitable years of business. They are dedicated to offering the highest quality of
customer service delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness and individual price. They have
consistently high ratings with consumers. Southwest spends more money on employee training than
anyone else in the industry. They encourage their employees to interact with customers and to think
outside the box. They have a family friendly atmosphere that leads to high customer and employee
morale and low employee turnover. The shorter routes help Southwest Airlines maintain better R.O.I.
Their planes are in the air 12 hours per day vs. industry average of 8 hours per day.
Weaknesses: Southwest has been seeing a turnover of some of their key personnel, which is making it
difficult to maintain the corporate culture. There are labor challenges caused by increased tensions
between labor unions and management. Their current air traffic control system is based on World War
II technology using analog transmissions that cannot penetrate mountains, are impacted by bad
weather, and cannot reach across oceans. Their planes are now outdated. They have a huge problem
with mishandling bags over 400,000 of them in 2011. This cost them over $53 million. The result is
dissatisfied customers. Slower turnaround

Rudolf Lab The Theorist, The Theory And The Context
Part 1: The theorist, The Theory and The Context Rudolf Laban, a brilliant acting theorist, inspires
many individuals, groups of actors and performers all over the world to this day. His progressive
acting theories mold an individual into a character effortlessly and effectively. Although his ideas were
not always appreciated, his critics only pushed him to better his techniques. Rudolf Laban was born on
December 15th, 1879, in Bratislava, which used to be part of the Austro Hungarian Empire. His
Father, a highly decorated Officer in the Army, hoped that Rudolf would follow in his footsteps;
however, Rudolf found himself intrigued with the complexity of the arts. He studied art and acting at
the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rudolf Laban died at the age of 78 on July 1st 1998, in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, Rudolf
Laban s theories focus primarily on movement. His movements are specific to what the actor intends
on portraying. Not only so, but the movement of the actor would in turn directly reflect the character s
personality. He believed every movement performed displayed a greater purpose to internally reflect
on one s character. Thus, His movement theories help an actor to bring out the individuality of each
character portrayed in a performance or dance. Part 2: Practical Explorations and Development of the
Solo Theatre Piece For this solo piece, I chose to incorporate Laban s theories into an interpretive
dance. I display, not two different characters movements, but one character s movements as he/she
develops, learns, and grows throughout his/her lifetime. To do so, I will use shadows in the
background to interact with the character in order to allow the audience to better comprehend my
actions and movements throughout the song. As the actor, I conform to the story line and the character
I am portraying by my movements and interactions with the shadows projected onto the backdrop of
the stage. As I prepared for this performance, I found it difficult to incorporate the movement patterns
of two characters, due to the fact that it is specifically a solo piece rather than a duet or

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea
The excerpt from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea written by Jules Verne is a debate on
rather or not Captain Nemo and Professor Aronnax should try to go beyond the barrier. After many
minutes of debating they found themselves stuck in the ice. They try to decide what they are going to
do to get out of this messy situation. They finally come up with a decision to go under the ice. This
conversation of going under the ice develops Professor Aronnax s character as changing from
concerned to unconcerned. Verne develops Professor Aronnax s character as changing from concerned
to unconcerned through his interaction with Captain Nemo. Professor Aronnax is listing all the
possible things that might occur on this journey him and Captain Nemo are about to embark on. Verne

might endanger them on their journey. Professor Aronnax quickly reassures him that it will be ok to go

Security Guard Training Report
Information that I had gathered.
On the State Universities Civil Service System website, they have posted every Civil Service
classification and pay scale from all the universities but ours. The starting Pay Rate of the Security
Guards is $13.06 and the max pay rate is at $14.62. The Security Officers have a starting pay rate of
$17.00 and as of now, no max pay rate. Attached are pictures of the pay rate and a link to said website.
 Uniforms

entire hospital. They radio into dispatch saying where they are within the hospital and clearing
themselves from each floor, or if we just patrolling the whole building. The sergeant will give dispatch

Gentrification Is The Country s Timeless Struggle
Inequality has been the country s timeless struggle. Throughout the course of the United States history,
there have been processes that have given a certain group of people the upper hand in a circumstance,
thus fueling inequality in our nation. An ongoing process that negatively effects the lower class and
benefits the upper class is called gentrification. Gentrification has been defined as the replacement of
the low income, inner city working class residents by middle or upper class households, either through
the market for existing housing or demolition to make way for new upscale housing construction
(Hammel and Wyly, 1996, p.250). Gentrification is deleterious because it revitalizes areas where low
income residents reside in, thus causing the displacement and allows affluent residents to flood the
given area whilst changing the entire environment from its original state. In my paper, I will be
discussing how the process of gentrification begins and what it entails, define longtime residents, and
describe the feelings of displacement felt by these residents. How the plague spreads Although a rapid
phenomenon, the process of gentrification initially starts at a slow pace. According to Biro (2007),
When low income houses are renovated they reach a higher quality and therefore are marketable to
buyers who can afford to pay a premium for homes with better quality characteristics. (p. 42) The
individuals who cannot cope with the gentrification process due to

Essay On Domain Name Search
CAN I GET A DOMAIN?
The first thing that comes to mind when you start a business is to secure a domain name, which
establishes a unique identity online. But, you go online to buy one and discover your domain name is
not available.
The next step is to tweak or find related names by adding hyphens ( ), underscore (_). Domain name
search often leads to confusion because domain names are not case sensitive and some names can be
misrepresented if there is a space, punctuation or capitalization. Example, a therapist with a room that
chose therapistroom.com as an online presence can be misread as the rapist room, Who Represents, a
database of celebrities, Agents, Representatives and Agencies chose whorepresents.com which can be
misread as whore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When buying or registering a domain name, make sure you are the domain owner or administrative
contact, that is, registered under your name or company; If possible, add a current phone number, a
designated email address (such as contact@domain.com just to avoid spammers) and a physical
address or a P.O. Box. This makes it easier for users to verify your credibility with an offline presence.
There are several ways to verify a domain, but the fastest way is whois.net. Also, be careful when
choosing an expired domain name. Some are affected by copyright or trademark infringement, some
have a history of bad representation or ban from Google searches for violating a Google term.
After buying a domain name, what next? Domain in simple term is a plot of land. When you secure a
domain name, you secure a digital plot of land on the internet. That security comes with an
identification label to prove ownership or control. That ownership acquired from a Domain name
Registrar (such as godaddy.com, domains.google.com) does not confer outright ownership or legal
ownership of the domain, but only an exclusive right of use for a particular period of time (usually for
1 year, 2 years, 5 years or 10 years). After securing a domain name, you have to host it.
Hosting is to build a house on your digital plot of land. Without hosting or host name, you cannot
build and without a domain, you cannot host.

The Influence Of Australia s Economy On China
Australia relies heavily on China in the way of investment and exports. In 2014 China bought 34% of
Australian exports which made China the number one buyer of our exports here in Australia. The
products that China buy include agricultural produce, Australian mining products such as iron ore and
coal/energy products. Australia also relies on China in the form of foreign investment. The main
interest that China has is infrastructure projects. Australia has been the second largest receiver of
Chinese investment globally with the United States of America taking the number one spot. Finally
Australia relies on China in the form of tourism. Tourism is great for Australia because as the more
tourists come to visit the more money they spend in our shops and hotels. This helps the overall
economy of Australia. In 2015 China was the second highest ranked country of tourists coming to

Reflection On Effective Teaching
Introduction
In this analysis, my objective is to reflect on effective teaching and learning strategies and methods,
using my personal experience in the classroom, as well as wider reading/research and university
lectures, including my contextual analysis on my placement school (see appendix one).
However, since there are so many dynamics to effective teaching and learning, one cannot put a finger
on a single aspect and use that as a solution. With this in mind, I have chosen to look at two foci in
depth. These are Classroom Management and Questioning Techniques but before we analyse these
foci in depth, it is important to understand what teaching and learning are. Not only this, but it is also
essential to note they are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first teacher, who also happens to be my Subject Mentor, is a very experienced staff member, he
has known the students since they started the school in Year 7, and hence he has a personal
relationship with them. Because of this, he is able to joke around with them and therefore be slightly
friendly. This works well in this particular situation, however, it does not mean it would work for
every teacher.
Secondly, the other staff member happens to be someone with a practical approach; she involves the
students very much so in her lessons but at the same time they are encouraged to work on
independently too, as she has a slightly softer approach to teaching, hence the pupils behave
differently.
Lastly, the third staff member is Assistant Headteacher he has a very informal way of teaching, to the
point where he addresses the learners by their nicknames. Furthermore, he uses slang in his lessons for
better understanding for the learners.
Why teachers use different methods has a deep connection with how learners learn.
How do learners learn?
There are different learning styles, which should be the reason behind teachers using different
teaching styles. Studies suggest it is important for people to be in the right state of mind in order to
learn. If a person is not in the right mind to learn, learning can be ineffective.

Is Data A Person
Is Data a Person? According to Daniel Dennett, there are six factors a being must meet to be
considered a person, regardless if they are human or not. The six factors are: rationality, conscious
mental state and intentionality, verbal communication, self consciousness, subject of a special stance
or attitude, and reciprocating this person regarding stance. Within the single episode, The Measure Of
A Man, Data proved to be able to meet all these requirements, thus making him a person. The first
factor, rationality, Data shows throughout the episode. He rationalizes during the poker game, he
rationalizes when he decides to resign, even when he agrees to the trial. During the poker game he
rationalizes what to do next, whether to fold or raise. Then later on in the episode, data was being
forcefully transferred, he was told he could avoid this situation by resigning. He made his own rational
choice to resign so that he wouldn t be experimented on. When he was told he was not a person, and

with intentionality. Verbal communication is the third factor to be considered a person. Data, with no
troubles, has the ability to communicate verbally with everyone shown in the episode. Self
consciousness ties with the first and second point. Data is conscious of himself and his surroundings.
During the trial data was asked by the Captain if he knew where he was, what he was doing, and who
he was. Without any sort of hesitation or issue data was able to answer every question without

The Birth Of A Child Is A Miracle
People say that the birth of a child is a miracle. When parents find out they are expecting a child it is
arguably one of the most exciting events in a person s life. Parents spend the pregnancy deciding on
names, decorating the room, and all of the other things that involve preparing to bring a child into the
world. Most parents wish that their baby is born happy and healthy. What happens when the doctor
informs you that your precious child has a disability? Having a child with a disability completely
changes the dynamics of the family and the way in which they raise their child along with any other
children they may have. Parents, siblings, and the child with the disability must all learn how to cope
and adapt with the challenges and rewards that come with having a disability. While their child may
not have been born perfectly healthy, there are ways in which the family can raise a child and live a
happy, fulfilling life.
There are many different childhood disabilities that range from physical disabilities to mental health
disabilities. The most common disabilities recognized in childhood are autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy,
down syndrome, epilepsy, spina bifida, dyslexia, and depression (Scribner, 2014). Most of these
disabilities recognized in childhood are lifelong disabilities that have a huge impact on the child s
learning and development. Between 2001 and 2011, the prevalence of childhood disability increased
by 15.6%. While the percentage of physical disables

The US Army Signal Corps sent training teams to Vietnam, as well as provided training for
Vietnamese officers in the US. Communist insurgent groups began attacking in South Vietnam, killing
two Americans in 1959. It was during this time that the Army began using atmospheric scatter
technologies, bouncing radio waves off different layers of the atmosphere in order to communicate
beyond line of sight up to 400 miles away. (3) This system was modified to form the tactical
communications backbone for ground troops, where standard Army multi channel radios were utilized
in addition to the new troposcatter radios. Throughout the Vietnam Conflict, though, communication
between the geographically separated ground units and camps was improved through the introduction
of better radio equipment and radio retransmit systems. The milestone achieved in the Vietnam
Conflict, from a signal perspective, was the propagation of high quality commercial communications
to the Soldier in the field. In the years following the Vietnam Conflict and the draft, the Army
downsized yet again, contracting to an all volunteer force. In July of 1973, the Army placed all of its

The Apostles and the Early Church
The Apostles and the Early Church
J.Trimble
GBST 164
In the Gospel of Matthew the term apostles is only used when introducing the list of twelve apostles
commissioned to follow Christ. Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these: the first, Simon who
is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and
Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose
surname was Thaddeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him (Matthew

Gigot). The change of Simon s name by Jesus was significant. As in the case of Abram, Sarai and
Jacob, the change of destiny is indicated by the change of name. This name Cephas is taken from the
Aramaic vernacular and corresponds to the Greek Peter, Petros, which means a piece of rock a mass of
rock detached from the living rock (T. Butler). It is a term which becomes a natural emblem of
firmness and stability. It may be hard for us to see the fitness of such a name for a man apparently so
unstable; but the fitness was perceived by Christ. Peter wavered often, even while under his Master s
eye, and at least once afterward, but he continually became more and more like the rock that Christ
wanted him to be and he was indeed a pillar of the church (W.B. Hill).
We observe that all the time Christ was with the Twelve, Peter was a leader among them.
Occasionally, Christ would select certain ones for special responsibilities; for example: Peter, James
and John to witness the raising of Jarius daughter, the transfiguration, and the agony in the garden (G.
Stokes). Now, why were these particular men selected on these occasions to be the recipients of
special privileges and the bearers of the attendant responsibilities? Certainly not because they
possessed greater authority than the other apostles, but because here

War Of 1812 Affected Susanna
How has the war of 1812 affected Susanna? This war has completely changed everything about her

Everything she did was effected by the war. This war has affected Susanna completely. Susanna has a

Susanna always worries about the updates and pray they will be updates that will be from Papa and

Do you agree with alcohol on college campuses or do you disagree? Why? Restricting alcohol
consumption on campuses sometimes is used to prevent alcohol abuse and alcohol related problems.
Dry campus policies, however, remain misunderstood. According to Dexter M. Taylor, Drinking and
alcohol related problems found on dry campuses were similar to national trends on wet college

preoccupied by a different theme that of Schopenhauer s au déla, which he portrayed through
imagining the French colony of Tahiti prior to its colonisation. Both artists were influenced by
Japanese prints, partly because they represented an opposition to the bourgeois civilisation of late
nineteenth century society at a time when established values seemed insufficient ... Show more

Furthermore, he experimented with prints for...subject matter...more undercurrent...under the radar

here, by using it for art and not for commercial purposes, he is reinventing printmaking. It is a move
away from the Academic tradition of the original artwork and creates a more egalitarian art for the
masses. In La Vitrioleuse and La Morphinomane , he presents us with two examples of the Parisian
female archetypes that are commonly illustrated as afflicting French society (Levesque, 2014) and
they represent a marked move away from his previous depictions of women. Here, he refuses to use
the...woman as a mere ornamental motif...his model is the contemporary...Parisian woman (Plantin in
Roos Rosa de Carvalho and Vellekoop, 2013: p110). However, his view is a misogynistic one as he
demonstrates the dangers of society giving women freedom. These prints are part of the Art Nouveau
movement and both depict women with wild, natural hair and arabesque

Gene Expression Of Soybeans ( Glycine Max )
Gene Expression of Soybeans (Glycine max) in Response to Bacterial Inoculants, Rhizoboost,
Defensor and Rhizobium under abiotic Stress (heat condition) in Glycine max
Proposal by Noor Sairafi and Dr. Sue Hum Musser
Western Illinois University, Department of Biology
Abstract Several microorganisms have the ability to promote plant growth and produce compounds
which are known to stimulate plant defenses by inducing systemic resistance (ISR) in attacked plants
(1). Bacillus species are commonly used in formulating microbial fertilizers due to their rapid
beneficial effects in colonizing plant root and establishing Rhizobia bacteria mutualism inside their
root structure. In this paper research, I will observe this unique interaction by examining the gene
expression of soybeans (Glycine max) and their response to bio inoculants under a heat stress. I will
use four different treatments: control, Defensor, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium, and
Rhizoboost and Rhizobium. Once the infected seeds germinate, I will incubate soybean seeds at 25 oC
and 37 oC for approximately 16 hours followed by grinding seeds for RNA purification. Gene
expression data will be then obtained and collected via qPCR analysis followed by microarray
analysis for more data confirmation. Additionally, a two way ANOVA and a Tukey s multiple
comparison test will be used to determine the significance of the data. This study will give us a good
idea on the effect of bacterial fertilizers (Defensor,

The Fall Creek Hydroelectric Facility
1. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility and the Cornell water treatment facility serve as two examples
of human activity s impact on core processes. The core processes altered by both facilities include the
ecological, physical, and chemical processes. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility has, by its very
existence, altered the landscape of the area surrounding its main dam, most notably, its creation of
Beebe Lake. The formation of the facility s dam has also impacted the physical and chemical
components of the water that surges through it, by rendering water that passes through the dam
(downstream water) colder and less oxygen rich than the water of Beebe Lake (upstream water). This
poor water quality downstream negatively impacts the ecological process, as the water vital for certain
organisms to thrive, relatively warm, oxygen rich water, is lacking. The Cornell water treatment
facility has also affected a few core processes. The most notable impact the facility has on core
processes is caused by its water filtration apparatus, which often accumulates sediments from Fall
Creek; an unfortunate occurrence that has negative bearing on the organisms that inhabit the creek.
Similar to the hydroelectric facility, this seemingly slight disturbance can have significant affects on
the quality of water downstream, particularly the oxygen content of the water (a chemical process).
This, consequently, can be detrimental to the ecological process, as downstream organisms do not

Harvest Of Empire By Juan Gonzalez
When you are young and they ask you what do you want to be when you grow up? Many answered
doctor, lawyer, police, and so on. But when it came for my turn to answer that question I didn t know
exactly what to say. None of those things interest me at all. I was always focus on school and getting
good grades. My mother and father has always told me you have to do well in school in order to have
a better future. Until this day they still tell me this. In harvest of empire by Juan Gonzalez it says

Dominican Republic and another 44,000 moved to My parents are from the Dominican Republic and
they came to the United States in the late 80 s in order to have a better future. My father came into this
country to play major league baseball, back in his hometown Consuelo, San Pedro de Macoris. He is
known for his baseball skills and grew up with baseball player Sammy Sosa. Although I don t much
about my father, I could tell you he never made it into major league baseball. He wanted to make sure
he was always there for his kids. I don t see my father that often anymore as I used to when I was a
kid. My mother came to this country at a young age to get a better education. Both of my parents have
resided in the Bronx since they got here to the United States. I was born into a lower middle class

Goblin Market Sisterhood
Goblin Market and Sisterhood At the surface level, Goblin Market appears to be just a children s poem
about being a hero and the importance of sisters. Delve into a deeper level and you find, as Lona Mosk
Packer puts [an] emotional experience universally valid, (375). Christina Rossetti s poem Goblin
Market has three main themes that critics argue: the importance of sisterhood, the sexual implications
and the dangers of erotic love and a Christ like sacrifice. These themes appear through the language
used, the allusions and comparisons made throughout.
In this poem, there are a lot of implications of Christ and how Lizzie is the embodiment of Christ,
even though she is a woman. In the poem, Lizzie is seen as the redeemer of Laura; ... Show more

Magic Realism In The Handsomest Drowned Man In The World
At its most basic level, magical realism is the mixture of the supernatural with realistic characteristics.
This genre is known for having specific traits to help classify if a work of art is in the genre. One work
of art that exemplifies almost all of these traits is The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World by
Gabriel García Márquez. After a washed up corpse is found in a small village, the people of the city
fall in love with the man s tallness and his handsomeness. They quickly decide to worship him and
they want to better themselves because of him. On the other hand, one example of a misconception of
magical realism is Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton. The central character, Edward Bloom, recounts
his life with exaggerated stories to his son Will, who thinks the embellished tales are unnecessary and
insulting. As his father is sick, Will travels to be with him. During his visit, Will gets a more in depth
view of his father s real life and the truth of what his life actually was. This film has some of the traits,
but not enough to classify it as part of the magical realism genre.
One crucial trait needed for magical realism is the idea of irreducible magic. This means magic that
cannot be normalized or reduced throughout the work of art. Big Fish very clearly breaks this
characteristic. In Edward s stories, he magnifies the sense of magic. When Ed passes away, Will
discovers that all the magic Ed encountered throughout his life was relatively normal compared to

The final reason the Mexican War was unjustified was because they brought slaves over the border.

The Role Of Ritual In The Lottery
A penny for the dead? The definition of ritual, as defined by Webster s Dictionary, done as a part of a

of rituals have played part in history including rituals with the dead, Indian ceremony rituals, and
religious rituals. In the 21st century America, the roles of rituals have lessened and have become less
of a common practice than of olden times. In The Lottery, the ritual of stoning the poor sap that won
the Lottery is one that had been passed on from generation to generation. I believe that every culture

In Mexico and other South American countries the population believe in celebrating the dead

Evaluate the purpose of different types of career guidance interviews
Evaluate methodologies to explore the career guidance and development needs of clients
Corney and Watts (1998) define information and advice as; providing an immediate response to the
needs of clients who present an enquiry or reveal a need that requires more than a straightforward
information response. Advice is usually limited to helping with the interpretation of information and
with meeting needs already clearly understood by the client...
Advice and information is therefore concerned with meeting client s presenting issues relating to

This has meant that new approaches have to be made so that clients can access a type of interview at a
time and in a place to suit them. To meet individual needs this has meant me offering telephone
guidance or home visits to accommodate their requirements. I have also signposted them to online
services such as webinars about CV building and networking and useful clips as well as online chats
with prospective employers. I also offer events that may give them additional options and
opportunities. I have also had to discuss the timing of one to one support with clients, as some prefer
to have the interview in the early stages of resettlement to point them in the right direction, whereas
others like to carry out their own research and start to make plans and use the interview to reassure
them and challenge their options to get more out of it. This also means I can tailor my advice and
guidance to the career path they are considering.
Careers guidance interviews in general are evolving in different sectors, for example in Higher
Education they have moved from having hour long individual one to ones and evolved into ensuring
individuals have access to information and group work.
I am now going to look at five types of interview and approaches that can be taken for different

The Degradation Of Socio Ecological Coastal Areas Of The...
Introduction
The Philippines is an archipelagic country located in Southeast Asia. The Philippines is composed of
7,100 islands bestowed with rich coastal resources and marine diversity (Balgos, 2005). With rich
coastal resources, Filipinos made coastal fishing activities its main livelihood. On the other hand,
tourism is also seen as a growing industry in the coastal areas. This has resulted in the degradation of
socio ecological coastal areas in the Philippines. Because of this problem, it is important for the
stakeholders to clearly identify its roles and responsibilities in order to make a sustainable future for
everyone. However, if the policies are not clearly defined and strictly implemented, problems and
issues, particularly with coastal resources, will arise. These include overfishing, destructive fishing,
sedimentation and disposal of untreated waste, lack of integrated management plans, lack of
enforcement, lack of community involvement, and lack of alternative livelihood options (Parras,
2001). This will not only affect the physical environment, but also everyone that depends on it and its
resources for their livelihood. As environmental issues are a very broad topic to discuss, I will be only
focusing on the current challenges being faced by the stakeholders involved in Tacloban City,
Philippines (Figure 1). For example, the policies being implemented that affect coastal shores and
resources, and the strategies that will help minimize the damage around it.

Gastrointestinal Tissue Case Study
Gastrointestinal tract
Ingestion of NMs can potentially occur directly from food, water or orally administered medicines
(Card et al. 2011). In addition, retrograde transfer of NMs by mucocilliary clearance may result in the
deposition of materials to the GIT by subsequent swallowing of materials. It is believed that the vast
majority of ingested NMs are rapidly passed through the GIT and lost via the faeces (Papp et al.
2008). However, the harsh environment of the stomach and the small intestine, with its low pH and
digestive enzymes might alter the characteristics of NMs and therefore their subsequent fate in the
human body. Surface properties of NMs play an important role in their translocation from the GIT. It

In another study Fischer rats were exposed to a single intragastric dose of fullerene C60 (0.7 nm) or
SWCNT (~ 2 nm (width) and 1 µm (length) (0.064 and 0.64 mg/kg/bw suspended in saline or corn
oil). The authors showed that both doses of the SWCNT and C60 increased 8 oxo 7,8 dihydro 2
deoxyguanosine (8 oxodG) levels in liver. The suspension of materials in saline or corn oil had no
significant effect on the genotoxicity of NMs in the liver. Finally, an increased mRNA expression of 8
oxoguanine DNA glycosylase in the liver was noted following C60 treatment, although no significant
increase in DNA repair activity was detected. The data from this study indicated that low dose oral
exposure to the C60 and SWCNT NMs can result in direct genotoxic effects in the liver (Folkmann et
al. 2009). However, the same NMs were not able to induce genotoxicity in colonic mucosa cells. It
can be argued that from an evolutionary perspective, enterocytes may be less susceptible to toxic
effects of exogenous materials. Another explanation could be related to the age of the rats used in the
study (sacrificed at 9 weeks of age); it has previously been shown that uptake of 1 µm labelled
polystyrene particles was approximately nine times higher in adult (5 months) rats compared to young
(6 8 weeks) rats (Seifert et al. 1996). Another study in oral exposure of Sprague Dawley rats to SiO2

Voltaire s View Of Voltaire
Voltaire was an enlightenment provider who wrote many play and books. He was a famous writer,
who made a lot of money and he wanted money. So everything he accomplished, he did because he
thought people are going to buy for him to be rich. One of his most famous is the story of Candide in
which he wrote to be entertained. The book is a satire in which Voltaire in some way criticizes the
institutions, and the people. Although Voltaire s societies had many advances, this made him criticize
different elements of his societies.
In the 1700s the Europeans had so many advances. They had conquered territories around the world.
They were wealthy and their societies had advanced intellectually. By the 1700s, the Europeans
thought they are at the top and they can get any better than this. This is what makes Voltaire criticize
part of Europeans. Voltaire did satirize different institutions for instance, other philosophers, many
religious people, protestant pastors, and minority groups. He criticizes the church when the old woman
begun saying you must know that I am the daughter of pope Urban X and of the princess of Palestrina
(In chapter 11) . Voltaire explains that there is no pope named Urban X and he uses this opportunity to
condemn the church. He means that the Catholic Church is exceedingly corrupt and it shouldn t be an
institution. He also points out that the church members are indeed silly even though they are taking
vows. Voltaire doesn t understand why people attend this

Difference Between Book And Book
Goldfinger, the third sequel of the ever popular James Bond series, depicts Secret Agent 007 in more
thrilling conflicts and dogfights guaranteeing to glue your eyes down to your screen. The story centers
on the investigation of gold smuggling activites of Auric Goldfinger by James Bond. Ian Fleming
wrote and published James Bond: Goldfinger in 1959, and it has been adapted into a movie starring
Sean Connery as James Bond in 1964. The Goldfinger novel was well received by critics and made to
the top best seller lists, while the movie became the first Bond blockbuster movie. Even though the
movie is based on Ian Fleming s Goldfinger novel, a great deal of conspicuous changes was made in
accustoming the novel plot into the movie. First of all, the movie acquired a disparate introduction
compared to the book. The movie starts off with Bond nonchalantly swimming with a bird camouflage
on his head to a factory, in which he planted a thermite bomb. He then absconds from the factory and
goes into a nearby cafe. Moments later, the bomb exploded, and then Bond got into a trivial fist fight,

assistant in business , Pussy Galore, is the leader of a flying circus who trains female pilots in the

The Impact Of Education In The Middle Ages
During the time of the Middle Ages, life as a citizen saw little to no change. With the feudal system in
place, people were born into different social classes like Lords, Knights, and Serfs. However, it was
extremely difficult, if not impossible, to move up in one s class. Once someone was born into a
specific role in society, people believed that it was his or her fate to remain in that class. Also, society
was not progressing. One example of this can be seen in the Black Death. This Black Death, or,
Bubonic Plague, killed off nearly one third of the entire population. Civilians were stunned, and did
not know why this event occurred, or how to solve the problem. Nobody could figure out how to stop
the disease, because no medical advancements were taking place, and people were uneducated.
Education in the Middle Ages was not available to everyone, so many people were illiterate, causing
society s growth to pause. It became clear that people needed to change their mindset in order for their
lives to be better. This change came in the Renaissance time period, where a significant growth in
many areas of life occurred. The positive growth was so impactful that P.J. O Rourke, an American
political journalist once said, Not much was really invented during the Renaissance, if you don t count
modern civilization. People today look back on the Renaissance, and embrace how it is considered as
a rebirth period. The Renaissance was a turning point for intellectual

  • 2. The Figure Of A Snoot, By David Foster Wallace I m sure that during our years in school, we have came in contact with someone we would classify as a nerd. We would typically view this person as an overachiever or teacher s pet. That nerd was usually the one who always passed their test, completed every assignment, read books for fun, and was very eager to be the first one to raise their hand in class. They would always speak properly and often corrected your grammar. Most people may view them as an annoying pest. That nerd would be someone who David Foster Wallace would characterize as a SNOOT. Wallace wrote an essay where he created an intellectual figure called a SNOOT. In this essay, I will better explain this intellectual figure, how you can spot it early on in childhood, as well as compare them to Rodriguez from a past essay. In an essay, written by David Foster Wallace, he creates a nonfiction character or intellectual figure called a SNOOT. He defines a SNOOT to be someone who never fails to speak proper English no matter where they go, is constantly correcting others grammar, and is fluent in standard written English. In other words, a SNOOT is a grammar nerd. Wallace identifies himself with his made up character and believes that not many people can be classified as a SNOOT. Wallace is a college professor and finds it bothersome when his students fail to achieve grammatically correct language in their writing. As a SNOOT he tends constantly have the urge to correct someone s grammar everytime he gets the chance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand Harry S Truman, this quote shows that nothing will get in Truman s way and he will get around every obstacle. Truman, born May 8th 1884 in Lamar MO. Unlike some other presidents and people of importance, Truman was not born into a family of wealth. John Truman, Harry s father was a livestock trader. The Truman family settled in independence, Missouri. In school Truman succeeded, he was a very strong student. Every night and morning Truman had to milk a cow just so he was able to have milk for breakfast. But that s not all Truman had to do to maintain happiness in the Truman household, he also had to slip wood, carry it, and put it in the wood box behind the stove so he could get up in the morning to start a fire for breakfast. When he was thirteen Truman would go to work before and after school and on the weekends just to provide for his family and make money for college. In 1902 the Truman s moved to Kansas City, where Truman found a job as a utility clerk at the national bank of commerce. Kansas City was a thriving metropolis in the early years of the century. During school Truman was an avid reader, he spent a lot of time reading books from the Independence public library. From 1906 until 1917 Truman worked on and helped manage the family farm near Grand View, Missouri. Even though Truman worked long hours on the farm he still had the energy to do outside activities. Case Study Southwest Airlines 2011 Case Study Southwest Airlines 2011 By Dawn Baumann Advanced Marketing Professor Nicole Dillett September 29, 2014 As I develop in mind, body, and spirit, I pledge on my honor that I have not given, received, witnessed nor have knowledge of unauthorized aid on this or any paper. Dawn Baumann Background Summary: Southwest airlines was founded in Texas in 1971 as a small, regional intra state carrier. They chose to service the Golden Triangle of Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. By staying within Texan borders, they could avoid federal regulations. They used Boeing 747 planes in their fleet. Since their inception, they have been striving to become the leading low cost carrier in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have been a multiple Triple Crown Winner in U.OT rankings. They have enjoyed thirty one consecutive profitable years of business. They are dedicated to offering the highest quality of customer service delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness and individual price. They have consistently high ratings with consumers. Southwest spends more money on employee training than anyone else in the industry. They encourage their employees to interact with customers and to think outside the box. They have a family friendly atmosphere that leads to high customer and employee morale and low employee turnover. The shorter routes help Southwest Airlines maintain better R.O.I. Their planes are in the air 12 hours per day vs. industry average of 8 hours per day. Weaknesses: Southwest has been seeing a turnover of some of their key personnel, which is making it difficult to maintain the corporate culture. There are labor challenges caused by increased tensions between labor unions and management. Their current air traffic control system is based on World War II technology using analog transmissions that cannot penetrate mountains, are impacted by bad weather, and cannot reach across oceans. Their planes are now outdated. They have a huge problem with mishandling bags over 400,000 of them in 2011. This cost them over $53 million. The result is dissatisfied customers. • 5. Rudolf Lab The Theorist, The Theory And The Context Part 1: The theorist, The Theory and The Context Rudolf Laban, a brilliant acting theorist, inspires many individuals, groups of actors and performers all over the world to this day. His progressive acting theories mold an individual into a character effortlessly and effectively. Although his ideas were not always appreciated, his critics only pushed him to better his techniques. Rudolf Laban was born on December 15th, 1879, in Bratislava, which used to be part of the Austro Hungarian Empire. His Father, a highly decorated Officer in the Army, hoped that Rudolf would follow in his footsteps; however, Rudolf found himself intrigued with the complexity of the arts. Furthermore, Rudolf Laban s theories focus primarily on movement. His movements are specific to what the actor intends on portraying. Not only so, but the movement of the actor would in turn directly reflect the character s personality. He believed every movement performed displayed a greater purpose to internally reflect on one s character. Thus, His movement theories help an actor to bring out the individuality of each character portrayed in a performance or dance. Part 2: Practical Explorations and Development of the Solo Theatre Piece For this solo piece, I chose to incorporate Laban s theories into an interpretive dance. I display, not two different characters movements, but one character s movements as he/she develops, learns, and grows throughout his/her lifetime. To do so, I will use shadows in the background to interact with the character in order to allow the audience to better comprehend my actions and movements throughout the song. As the actor, I conform to the story line and the character I am portraying by my movements and interactions with the shadows projected onto the backdrop of the stage. As I prepared for this performance, I found it difficult to incorporate the movement patterns of two characters, due to the fact that it is specifically a solo piece rather than a duet or ... • 8. Gentrification Is The Country s Timeless Struggle Inequality has been the country s timeless struggle. Throughout the course of the United States history, there have been processes that have given a certain group of people the upper hand in a circumstance, thus fueling inequality in our nation. An ongoing process that negatively effects the lower class and benefits the upper class is called gentrification. Gentrification has been defined as the replacement of the low income, inner city working class residents by middle or upper class households, either through the market for existing housing or demolition to make way for new upscale housing construction (Hammel and Wyly, 1996, p.250). Gentrification is deleterious because it revitalizes areas where low income residents reside in, thus causing the displacement and allows affluent residents to flood the given area whilst changing the entire environment from its original state. In my paper, I will be discussing how the process of gentrification begins and what it entails, define longtime residents, and describe the feelings of displacement felt by these residents. How the plague spreads Although a rapid phenomenon, the process of gentrification initially starts at a slow pace. According to Biro (2007), When low income houses are renovated they reach a higher quality and therefore are marketable to buyers who can afford to pay a premium for homes with better quality characteristics. • 9. Essay On Domain Name Search CAN I GET A DOMAIN? The first thing that comes to mind when you start a business is to secure a domain name, which establishes a unique identity online. But, you go online to buy one and discover your domain name is not available. The next step is to tweak or find related names by adding hyphens ( ), underscore (_). Domain name search often leads to confusion because domain names are not case sensitive and some names can be misrepresented if there is a space, punctuation or capitalization. When buying or registering a domain name, make sure you are the domain owner or administrative contact, that is, registered under your name or company; If possible, add a current phone number, a designated email address (such as contact@domain.com just to avoid spammers) and a physical address or a P.O. Box. This makes it easier for users to verify your credibility with an offline presence. There are several ways to verify a domain, but the fastest way is whois.net. Also, be careful when choosing an expired domain name. Some are affected by copyright or trademark infringement, some have a history of bad representation or ban from Google searches for violating a Google term. After buying a domain name, what next? Domain in simple term is a plot of land. When you secure a domain name, you secure a digital plot of land on the internet. That security comes with an identification label to prove ownership or control. That ownership acquired from a Domain name Registrar (such as godaddy.com, domains.google.com) does not confer outright ownership or legal ownership of the domain, but only an exclusive right of use for a particular period of time (usually for 1 year, 2 years, 5 years or 10 years). After securing a domain name, you have to host it. Hosting is to build a house on your digital plot of land. Without hosting or host name, you cannot build and without a domain, you cannot host. • 11. Reflection On Effective Teaching Introduction In this analysis, my objective is to reflect on effective teaching and learning strategies and methods, using my personal experience in the classroom, as well as wider reading/research and university lectures, including my contextual analysis on my placement school (see appendix one). However, since there are so many dynamics to effective teaching and learning, one cannot put a finger on a single aspect and use that as a solution. With this in mind, I have chosen to look at two foci in depth. These are Classroom Management and Questioning Techniques but before we analyse these foci in depth, it is important to understand what teaching and learning are. Not only this, but it is also essential to note they are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first teacher, who also happens to be my Subject Mentor, is a very experienced staff member, he has known the students since they started the school in Year 7, and hence he has a personal relationship with them. Because of this, he is able to joke around with them and therefore be slightly friendly. This works well in this particular situation, however, it does not mean it would work for every teacher. Secondly, the other staff member happens to be someone with a practical approach; she involves the students very much so in her lessons but at the same time they are encouraged to work on independently too, as she has a slightly softer approach to teaching, hence the pupils behave differently. Lastly, the third staff member is Assistant Headteacher he has a very informal way of teaching, to the point where he addresses the learners by their nicknames. Furthermore, he uses slang in his lessons for better understanding for the learners. Why teachers use different methods has a deep connection with how learners learn. How do learners learn? There are different learning styles, which should be the reason behind teachers using different teaching styles. Studies suggest it is important for people to be in the right state of mind in order to learn. If a person is not in the right mind to learn, learning can be ineffective. ... • 12. Is Data A Person Is Data a Person? According to Daniel Dennett, there are six factors a being must meet to be considered a person, regardless if they are human or not. The six factors are: rationality, conscious mental state and intentionality, verbal communication, self consciousness, subject of a special stance or attitude, and reciprocating this person regarding stance. Within the single episode, The Measure Of A Man, Data proved to be able to meet all these requirements, thus making him a person. The first factor, rationality, Data shows throughout the episode. He rationalizes during the poker game, he rationalizes when he decides to resign, even when he agrees to the trial. During the poker game he rationalizes what to do next, whether to fold or raise. Then later on in the episode, data was being forcefully transferred, he was told he could avoid this situation by resigning. Verbal communication is the third factor to be considered a person. Data, with no troubles, has the ability to communicate verbally with everyone shown in the episode. Self consciousness ties with the first and second point. Data is conscious of himself and his surroundings. • 13. The Birth Of A Child Is A Miracle People say that the birth of a child is a miracle. When parents find out they are expecting a child it is arguably one of the most exciting events in a person s life. Parents spend the pregnancy deciding on names, decorating the room, and all of the other things that involve preparing to bring a child into the world. Most parents wish that their baby is born happy and healthy. What happens when the doctor informs you that your precious child has a disability? Having a child with a disability completely changes the dynamics of the family and the way in which they raise their child along with any other children they may have. Parents, siblings, and the child with the disability must all learn how to cope and adapt with the challenges and rewards that come with having a disability. While their child may not have been born perfectly healthy, there are ways in which the family can raise a child and live a happy, fulfilling life. There are many different childhood disabilities that range from physical disabilities to mental health disabilities. The most common disabilities recognized in childhood are autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy, spina bifida, dyslexia, and depression (Scribner, 2014). Most of these disabilities recognized in childhood are lifelong disabilities that have a huge impact on the child s learning and development. It was during this time that the Army began using atmospheric scatter technologies, bouncing radio waves off different layers of the atmosphere in order to communicate beyond line of sight up to 400 miles away. (3) This system was modified to form the tactical communications backbone for ground troops, where standard Army multi channel radios were utilized in addition to the new troposcatter radios. Throughout the Vietnam Conflict, though, communication between the geographically separated ground units and camps was improved through the introduction of better radio equipment and radio retransmit systems. The milestone achieved in the Vietnam Conflict, from a signal perspective, was the propagation of high quality commercial communications to the Soldier in the field. In the years following the Vietnam Conflict and the draft, the Army downsized yet again, contracting to an all volunteer force. The Apostles and the Early Church The Apostles and the Early Church J.Trimble GBST 164 In the Gospel of Matthew the term apostles is only used when introducing the list of twelve apostles commissioned to follow Christ. Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these: the first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him (Matthew 10:1 4). As in the case of Abram, Sarai and Jacob, the change of destiny is indicated by the change of name. This name Cephas is taken from the Aramaic vernacular and corresponds to the Greek Peter, Petros, which means a piece of rock a mass of rock detached from the living rock (T. Butler). It is a term which becomes a natural emblem of firmness and stability. It may be hard for us to see the fitness of such a name for a man apparently so unstable; but the fitness was perceived by Christ. Peter wavered often, even while under his Master s eye, and at least once afterward, but he continually became more and more like the rock that Christ wanted him to be and he was indeed a pillar of the church (W.B. Hill). We observe that all the time Christ was with the Twelve, Peter was a leader among them. Occasionally, Christ would select certain ones for special responsibilities; for example: Peter, James and John to witness the raising of Jarius daughter, the transfiguration, and the agony in the garden (G. Stokes). Now, why were these particular men selected on these occasions to be the recipients of special privileges and the bearers of the attendant responsibilities? Gauguin was preoccupied by a different theme that of Schopenhauer s au déla, which he portrayed through imagining the French colony of Tahiti prior to its colonisation. Bacillus species are commonly used in formulating microbial fertilizers due to their rapid beneficial effects in colonizing plant root and establishing Rhizobia bacteria mutualism inside their root structure. In this paper research, I will observe this unique interaction by examining the gene expression of soybeans (Glycine max) and their response to bio inoculants under a heat stress. I will use four different treatments: control, Defensor, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium, and Rhizoboost and Rhizobium. Once the infected seeds germinate, I will incubate soybean seeds at 25 oC and 37 oC for approximately 16 hours followed by grinding seeds for RNA purification. Gene expression data will be then obtained and collected via qPCR analysis followed by microarray analysis for more data confirmation. • 22. The Fall Creek Hydroelectric Facility 1. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility and the Cornell water treatment facility serve as two examples of human activity s impact on core processes. The core processes altered by both facilities include the ecological, physical, and chemical processes. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility has, by its very existence, altered the landscape of the area surrounding its main dam, most notably, its creation of Beebe Lake. The formation of the facility s dam has also impacted the physical and chemical components of the water that surges through it, by rendering water that passes through the dam (downstream water) colder and less oxygen rich than the water of Beebe Lake (upstream water). This poor water quality downstream negatively impacts the ecological process, as the water vital for certain organisms to thrive, relatively warm, oxygen rich water, is lacking. The Cornell water treatment facility has also affected a few core processes. The most notable impact the facility has on core processes is caused by its water filtration apparatus, which often accumulates sediments from Fall Creek; an unfortunate occurrence that has negative bearing on the organisms that inhabit the creek. Similar to the hydroelectric facility, this seemingly slight disturbance can have significant affects on the quality of water downstream, particularly the oxygen content of the water (a chemical process). This, consequently, can be detrimental to the ecological process, as downstream organisms do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Magic Realism In The Handsomest Drowned Man In The World At its most basic level, magical realism is the mixture of the supernatural with realistic characteristics. This genre is known for having specific traits to help classify if a work of art is in the genre. One work of art that exemplifies almost all of these traits is The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World by Gabriel García Márquez. After a washed up corpse is found in a small village, the people of the city fall in love with the man s tallness and his handsomeness. They quickly decide to worship him and they want to better themselves because of him. On the other hand, one example of a misconception of magical realism is Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton. The central character, Edward Bloom, recounts his life with exaggerated stories to his son Will, who thinks the embellished tales are unnecessary and insulting. As his father is sick, Will travels to be with him. During his visit, Will gets a more in depth view of his father s real life and the truth of what his life actually was. This film has some of the traits, but not enough to classify it as part of the magical realism genre. One crucial trait needed for magical realism is the idea of irreducible magic. This means magic that cannot be normalized or reduced throughout the work of art. Big Fish very clearly breaks this characteristic. In Edward s stories, he magnifies the sense of magic. When Ed passes away, Will discovers that all the magic Ed encountered throughout his life was relatively normal compared to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Philippines is composed of 7,100 islands bestowed with rich coastal resources and marine diversity (Balgos, 2005). With rich coastal resources, Filipinos made coastal fishing activities its main livelihood. On the other hand, tourism is also seen as a growing industry in the coastal areas. This has resulted in the degradation of socio ecological coastal areas in the Philippines. Because of this problem, it is important for the stakeholders to clearly identify its roles and responsibilities in order to make a sustainable future for everyone. However, if the policies are not clearly defined and strictly implemented, problems and issues, particularly with coastal resources, will arise. These include overfishing, destructive fishing, sedimentation and disposal of untreated waste, lack of integrated management plans, lack of enforcement, lack of community involvement, and lack of alternative livelihood options (Parras, 2001). This will not only affect the physical environment, but also everyone that depends on it and its resources for their livelihood. In addition, retrograde transfer of NMs by mucocilliary clearance may result in the deposition of materials to the GIT by subsequent swallowing of materials. It is believed that the vast majority of ingested NMs are rapidly passed through the GIT and lost via the faeces (Papp et al. 2008). The authors showed that both doses of the SWCNT and C60 increased 8 oxo 7,8 dihydro 2 deoxyguanosine (8 oxodG) levels in liver. The suspension of materials in saline or corn oil had no significant effect on the genotoxicity of NMs in the liver. Finally, an increased mRNA expression of 8 oxoguanine DNA glycosylase in the liver was noted following C60 treatment, although no significant increase in DNA repair activity was detected. The book is a satire in which Voltaire in some way criticizes the institutions, and the people. The movie starts off with Bond nonchalantly swimming with a bird camouflage on his head to a factory, in which he planted a thermite bomb. In the movie, Bond is the one who came across Goldfinger s original ball and hid it under his feet. In the book, Hawker, Bond s caddie, espies Goldfinger s original ball and ensconced it using his bag of clubs. Another difference is that in the movie, Goldfinger interrogates Bond using a laser, whereas in the book, a rotating buzzsaw is used instead. Goldfinger s assistant in business , Pussy Galore, is the leader of a flying circus who trains female pilots in the movie. Contrary to the movie, the book describes her as a person who runs a gang in America, called The Cement Mixers . She also appears to be much more ostensibly a lesbian in the ... • 35. The Spies Of The Revolution Spies of the Revolution The American s and the British had many tactics to solving the enemy s plans. One way of solving this was hiring Spies. Spies did everything from joining the enemy s army, to volunteering to go behind enemy lines. Spies would risk anything to get the enemy s plan. The Spies of the Revolution were very important because they helped figure out enemy plans, were willing to risk it all, and used secret coding to communicate. There is many spies who were caught but some lived to tell their story. No one really knows why someone would risk their life for really nothing in return. But we are glad they did. Now that the spies made history back in the early days of war, spies still exist. They are usually rare because we have so much better technology. Like drones, many bots, etc. Invisible letters are not used in today s society nor are mask letters. • 38. The Impact Of Education In The Middle Ages During the time of the Middle Ages, life as a citizen saw little to no change. With the feudal system in place, people were born into different social classes like Lords, Knights, and Serfs. However, it was extremely difficult, if not impossible, to move up in one s class. Once someone was born into a specific role in society, people believed that it was his or her fate to remain in that class. Also, society was not progressing. One example of this can be seen in the Black Death. This Black Death, or, Bubonic Plague, killed off nearly one third of the entire population. Civilians were stunned, and did not know why this event occurred, or how to solve the problem. Nobody could figure out how to stop the disease, because no medical advancements were taking place, and people were uneducated. Education in the Middle Ages was not available to everyone, so many people were illiterate, causing society s growth to pause. It became clear that people needed to change their mindset in order for their lives to be better. This change came in the Renaissance time period, where a significant growth in many areas of life occurred. The positive growth was so impactful that P.J. O Rourke, an American political journalist once said, Not much was really invented during the Renaissance, if you don t count modern civilization. People today look back on the Renaissance, and embrace how it is considered as a rebirth period. The Renaissance was a turning point for intellectual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
