equity (debt/equity) ratio.

AUGUST 2009
BACKGROUND
The Niger Delta produces the oil wealth which accounts for the bulk of Nigeria s foreign earnings.
Paradoxically however, these vast revenues from an international industry have barely touched the
Niger Delta s own pervasive local poverty (UNDP, 2006:1). The majority of the population in the rural
areas in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria are living in extreme poverty in spite of ... Show more

Over time, the effects of oil and gas exploration on the environment have become a cause of concern
to stakeholders, government, NGOs communities and individuals. This has led the government to
formulate various policies to arrest the situation and thus promote sustainable exploration activities.
Unfortunately, most of these programs have not yielded the desired results (Guardian Newspaper
2006: 16).
The rural populace in the Niger Delta mainly practice fishing and subsistence farming, but during
floods, which lasts for over half of the year in some areas the waters are usually contaminated which
negatively affects marine life; with the waters unable to sustain vegetation due to petroleum
hydrocarbon pollutants. Drinking water is scarce and in the dry season, water is usually not available
which also increases the risk of water borne diseases. The inhabitants of the area also experience
scorching heat daily from gas flaring which is also detrimental to the health of the people (Chukwuezi,
2006:4).
The major problems of the Niger Delta Region mentioned above can be summarized as follows:
Poverty
Poverty has been described as the inability of a person to meet basic needs such as food, shelter,
clothing, healthcare and education. The poverty situation in the Niger Delta region is perhaps the
worst in Nigeria today. It also results in poor

Signs You re Balding and What You Can Do About It
N Signs You re Balding What You Can Do About It So there are some signs that you re balding but
you re not entirely sure. The signs range from finding lots of hair around your living area, noticing
that your scalp is more visible than usual, your hair seems to be growing slower, or a hairline that
seems to be receding faster than your hair is growing. Don t panic, hair loss can be resolved with a
few treatments, read on to find out more. Lots of Hair Falling All of us tend to lose 50 to 100 hairs a
day out of the 100,000 we have on our head. So it is common to find hair lying around your living
area, therefore you need not panic about it. However, if you re facing multiple signs of balding then
this is a crucial sign that you should change a few routines to ensure the hair fall is natural and not
aggravated. Ensure that you re not combing or brushing your hair too hard, the same goes to drying
your hair too roughly with a towel after a shower. Tugging or applying too much pressure to your hair
aggravates hair loss. Changing these simple lifestyle habits can change the rate of your hair falling out
and reduce the chances of balding or hair loss. Thinning Hair More Visible Scalp If you re starting to
notice that you have a more visible scalp, chances are that your hair is thinning and hair loss is
occurring. There are a few reasons to why this is happening that you can check and probably change.
Thinning hair sometimes occurs due to hormonal changes in your body. These

Pop Music And Its Impact On South Korea Essay
K pop is a musical genre originating in South Korea that is characterized by a wide variety of
audiovisual elements. Although it comprises all genres of popular music within South Korea, the term
is more often used in a narrower sense to describe a modern form of South Korean pop music
covering a wide range of styles including dance pop, pop ballad, electronic, rock, metal, hip pop music
and R B. K pop gaining popularity in East Asia in the late 1990s, and spreading to whole Asia and
World, via the Hallyu culture. K pop, J pop and C pop become to the leading musical category in Asia.
The biggest four entertainment company in Korea are SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, JYP
Entertainment and FNC Entertainment. Korean pop culture is becoming an increasingly global
phenomenon, caused in part by the K pop industry s adeptness at tapping into social networking
services and the video sharing platform YouTube. Since the mid 2000s, the K pop music market has
experienced double digit growth rates. In the first half of 2012, it grossed nearly US$3.4 billion and
was recognized by Time magazine as South Korea s Greatest Export .
The History The history of Korean popular music can be traced back to 1885 when an American
missionary, Henry Appenzeller started teaching American and British folk songs at a school. These
songs were called changga in Korean, and they were typically based on a popular Western melody
sung with Korean lyrics. The well known song Oh My Darling,

Synthetic Steroids
Introduction
There are two different types of steroids: natural steroids and synthetic steroids. Natural steroids are
made from fats in the body. Any of a large group of fat soluble organic compounds, such as: sterols,
bile acids, and sex hormones, most of which have specific physiological action (Steriod, n.d.). The
human body naturally produces the following steroids: sex steroids, corticosteroids,
mineralocorticoids, bile acid, and sterols. Sex steroids are made up of androgens and estrogens.
Androgen is the male hormone that the body produces and is divided into two parts: androgenic and
anabolic. Androgenic is the part involved in developing the male sex characteristics. Anabolic is the

Pratt Truss Bridge Essay
From brainstorming, we have considered numerous bridge designs that will suit the spaghetti bridge
experiment that can withstand the load. We have decided to focus on a truss bridge type with
suggestions of either Howe, Pratt or Warren truss bridges. Upon research of each type of trusses we
have decided to build a Pratt truss bridge based on the simplistic design and the ability of the group
members to construct the bridge with spaghetti. The Pratt truss bridge is an ideal bridge for its
structural mechanics. The design of the Pratt truss bridges combines the elements of internal web
members of diagonal and vertical beams. Thus, it is strong yet fairly light for its structure. The
diagonals members are subjected to tension forces, whilst the

Truth Behind The Mirror
Reflections no longer hold truth when encased by a mirror. There is darkness behind the glass that
seeps into people s subconscious. As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the
victim. This demonstrates how society s views can have a negative effect on an individual. Outside
pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to
capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them
different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them
beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions
in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear
mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon
causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day,
the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on
looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become
muddled. Mud that is now stirred in with the water will not let the sediment float back to the pond s
bottom which makes it appear that the once clear water will forever remain as a diluted pond. Even the
moss that is scattered on the surface limits the person s view, and capsizes on their

Stoichiometry Of Reactants And Reactants
Furthermore, stoichiometry helps to figure out the limiting reactants and the excess reactants. The
limiting reactant is the reactant that limits the amount of product formed in the chemical reaction.
Which also means the reaction will stop when all of the limiting reactant is consumed. In the other
hand, excess reactant is a reactant that completely used up and it remains when a reaction stop when
the limiting reactant. Moreover, stoichiometry can be used to figure out the actual yield which is the
amount actually produced of a product vs. the amount of products calculated from the complete
reaction of the limiting reactant which is theoretical yield. Also, stoichiometry assists to calculate the

Emphysema Essay
Emphysema
Introduction:
Emphysema is a condition of the lungs that involves the over inflation of the air sacs, otherwise
known as the alveoli. Normal functioning of the alveoli helps breathing in normal respiration. Unlike
other lung diseases this one can be inherited. This is a disease that can affect people of all ages and
genders. In 1994, the number of males with emphysema outnumbered the females by fifty four
percent. However, in the two years that followed the difference between males and females decreased
by ten percent.

people reporting cases. Currently, there are 1.8 million Americans in the United States that have
emphysema. Emphysema is ranked 15th among chronic conditions or diseases which limit people s
daily activity. A study by the American Lung Association shows that 44 percent of people with
emphysema have reported that their daily activities have been greatly limited due to the disease.
Ethnical Distribution: Emphysema can be contracted by people of all walks of life and does not favor

Geographical Distribution:
Emphysema is a disease that in not only caused by the way you live, but can be contracted through the
area in which a person lives. For example, people who live in urban areas are at higher risk. This is
due to the fact that these areas are more highly populated with factories and cluttered with
automobiles. These factories produce a great deal of smoke which can be very harmful to the lungs of
the people who inhale it. The automobile exhaust has the same affect on the lungs if inhaled for

Outbreak, Causes, And Risks, Effects And Prevention Of The...
An outbreak disease which is likely to be a potential disease in New Zealand is measles. This is a very
contagious and deadly virus that has caused a huge amount of deaths during previous centuries. The
main symptoms of this virus include a sore throat, fever, rashes and inflamed eyes. This disease is
very hard to detect within two weeks of infection because you are not able to see clear signs or
symptoms of measles. This outbreak, however, is not particularly new to New Zealand, as it has been
previously seen here in the 1960s and but has started being witnessed in the upper north island and
now occurring in the South Island. This essay will discuss, the outbreak, causes, and risks, impact and
prevention of the measles virus.
An outbreak is when the number of cases for a disease is suddenly more than the expected number of
counts, with the outbreak occurring within a limited geographical area, for example, Auckland or Mt
Roskill. This is similar to an epidemic, but the area that would be affected is different for the two. If
the measles disease were to impact on a geographical location, infecting a large number of people in a
small period, it would be labelled as an epidemic with the cases reported more than the expected
count, but because an outbreak is limited to the particular geographical area, it is labelled an outbreak.
The expected count of cases for the disease occurring could be identified looking at previous times in
which the outbreak occurred. For

Prenatal Contraception And Prenatal Care Essay
The risk of maternal and infant mortality can be significantly reduced by increasing access to early
and adequate prenatal care (Chapman Durham, 2010). The prenatal period provides an opportunity to
make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance behaviors.
Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to the pregnant
women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications (Chapman Durham,
2010).
Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women
becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment,
treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman
Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and
Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least
thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first 28
weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG, 2016).
Evidence based practices emphasize the importance of receiving both early prenatal care, beginning in
the first trimester as well as adequate prenatal care, encompassing all perinatal education and guidance
(ACOG, 2016).

The American Revolution And The Revolution
The American Revolution, think you know everything about? You don t, as much as the soldiers that

the victory the Americans had over the British, in the American Revolution. It was ordinary citizens
that saved the revolution and don t get credit for it. Espionage, intelligence was the key to winning the

write between the lines and the receiver would use heat in order to read the letter, but with the new ink
you would need another chemical solution to see the message.
While Washington is known for his honesty, he was okay with spreading misinformation, when it
came to fighting the revolution. He told the members of the Culper Ring to exaggerate the fire power

The Federal Budget Deficit
The Federal Budget Deficit Introduction The federal budget deficit is a much discussed and little
understood subject in American politics. The current recession has dramatically decreased tax
revenues, driving the United States federal government to increase spending in an attempt to stabilize
the economy. As a result the current federal deficit is at over $1.3 trillion dollars. This is
approximately $47,754 per U.S. citizen or $137,552 per U. S. taxpayer (U.S. Debt Clock: Real Time,

deficit is blamed for a variety of economic ills including high interest rates, unemployment, the trade
deficit, the low rate of national saving and low productivity growth (Shaviro, 1997). The Causes of the
Budget Deficit Many believe the country s dramatic decent into debt began with a choice, not a crisis.
In January of 2001, with the budget balanced, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) forecast that
the nation would have over a $2 trillion dollar surplus by 2010, enough money to pay off the entire
national debt. In the years following 2001 political leaders chose to cut taxes, increase spending, and
wage two wars solely with borrowed funds (Montgomery, 2011). Today the national debt is larger, as a
percentage of the economy, than at any time in U.S. history except for the period shortly after World
War II. According to a recent Gallup Poll most Americans blame the federal

This quote from the story Rikki Tikki Tavi shows that the setting of the story is in India . In the movie,
you can see that the family lives in India because of the terrain that surrounds the house and also by
the looks of the garden. The family lives in a bungalow which is a one to one and a half story house
that has a large front porch. In the movie, you can see the bungalow and how it looks. In both the book
and the movie, the family has a large garden in which many animals live (movie). Especially, in the
movie, you can see that the bungalow and the surrounding garden are all beautiful and that the family
really loves living in such a beautiful place. In the book, the picture of the bungalow shows that it is a
beautiful place to live in (Kipling 145). A difference between the setting in the book and the movie is
that in the book it describes the garden, around the bungalow, as having flowers and a lot of beautiful
trees and flowers. On the other hand, the movie shows that the garden has a lot of bamboo and not
many flowers and not a lot of color. The resolution is the movie and the resolution in the story Rikki

Digital Disruption On Business Governance
ISYS2423 Individual Report
Name: Brian Au
Student Number: 3333937
Topic: Digital Disruption
Introduction
The business world continues to change dramatically as new technologies are invented. Organizations
and businesses are experiencing waves of technological change and innovation and the process. Thus,
management strategies of the organizations have to be altered to match the new technologies if
businesses are to remain competitive and active in the market place. Digital disruption can be defined
as the changes that take place when new technologies and business models affect the promise of value
to be delivered by existing goods and services (McQuivey 2015). Change experienced in information
and communication technology cannot be assumed as this greatly affects business governance and
business models. It is indisputable that business and organizations are facing imminent and major
digital disruptions and it is important for each organization to understand the issues raised by digital
disruption to be able to develop specific, pragmatic, and proportional responses (Deloitte 2015). This
research seeks to show how digital disruption impacts business governance and how it opens
unprecedented business opportunities and possibilities. The report shows how the innovations
accompanying digital disruption changes economies and markets and how they reinvent relationships
between organizations, suppliers and customers.

Fatigue, Excessive Vomiting, Headaches, Depression,...
Fatigue, excessive vomiting, headaches, depression, irritability, infertility, and death; these are all
symptoms and repercussions associated with HIV/AIDS. For such a long time, HIV/AIDS has been
called a gay disease. Even though the gay community was and is one the most affected populations, is
stating HIV/AIDS is a gay disease honestly rational or is it simply a way for individuals who do not
agree with same sex lifestyles to villainize and blame the very people they despise? The first article
titled Getting it Straight: HIV as a Gay Disease Is a Myth That Refuses to Die was written by an
author by the name of David Salyer, David Salyer is a writer who has published this article in a
collection of articles that discuss HIV/AIDS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the ways Salyer used ethos in a very effective way to argue his claim was when he said, They
are not all gay. African American and Hispanic women together represent less than one fourth of all
U.S. women, but account for more than three fourths (76%) of AIDS cases among women in this
country (CDC Update, 6/98), (Para. 3). This use of the CDC, the Center for Disease Control, as a
source is very strong and credible because it is the sole purpose of the CDC to disclose information
regarding diseases and viruses in the United States. He was also attempting to make the point that not
all HIV cases are composed entirely of gay men. The article continues to use other, equally as strong
sources, such as: the New York Times, UNAIDS, and Dr. Sharon Hillier of the University of
Pittsburgh.
The latter article titled AIDS Is A Gay Disease uses ethos very poorly in comparison to its opposition.
The only really viable time Benkof uses ethos effectively is when he uses information cited as
belonging to Matt Foreman who is the Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task
Force. The mere mention of Matt Foreman came when Benkof said,
When gay leader Matt Foreman called AIDS a gay disease in 2008, narrow minded groups seized the
opportunity to renew their tired argument that homosexuality is a dangerous lifestyle (an odd analysis
given the rarity of HIV transmission through lesbian sex). But

Andre Derain The Turning Road Analysis
Gianna Sorola Professor Reed Art Appreciation 1301 18 October 2017 The Turning Road, L Estaque
Andre Derain Andrè Derain, born in Chatou, France in 1880 was one of the few leaders of the
Fauvists movement (although only lasting three short years). Playing a vital part in this new
movement, it enabled him to achieve recognition in all of his paintings. Fauvists was created in the
early twentieth century, by modern artist whom emphasized painterly qualities. By having strong,
vibrant colors that represent realistic values. This style of art was inspired by the impressionists era,
they (the founding leaders of fauvists) wanted to capture the impact of lighting and the atmosphere

Derain adds variation to the shapes to create several forms within the painting. The turning roads are
created and flow freely for the fact that the free form arc. From what I can infer, the last tree on the
right was altered by making it thicker on the edges. Many of the forms are characterized by the trees,
bridges, buildings and people. Nevertheless, other forms can be considered non characterized and just
serve to increase the elegance of the painting. Although, he avoided using three dimensional forms to
the best of his ability to attempt of the curve road that displayed three planes. Across the other forms,
they are implied three dimensional. The appearance of three dimensional was reached by using tonal
techniques, which were shading and smearing. When Andrè Derain was painting in a three
dimensional style, it was to portray the trees and walkway in different angles. This allowed the
observers to see the foreground. Although, using one perspective style, the features throughout the
background appear to disappear into the horizon, therefore being unclear. The main type of lines used
in The Turning Road are extremely pronounced, strong, thick and dark. However, through the
painting, some of the lines are thin in certain part of areas to avoid the attention. This would stimulate
the different textures throughout the painting. With the textures of the painting it would also trigger
the motion of the painting. In the works of The Turning Road,

Apology By Plato Analysis
Reading Reflection: Plato In one of Plato s works Apology , Socrates attempts to defend himself in
court of law where he is being prosecuted on corrupting the youth. While defending himself, Socrates
also defends his choice of receiving a death penalty, rather then testifying against his beliefs. Although
he makes some very strong and valid arguments, lots of readers would wonder why would such a wise
man choose death over his life. Socrates was a man that was on a mission is search of the truth about
wisdom. As a philosopher he would never settle for one simple answer, he would take every angel of
an argument therefore even a simple idea would be argued until his opponent would be frustrated
enough to quit. During his defense Socrates states, A man who really fights for justice must lead a
private, not a public, life if he is to survive for even a short time (Apology 36). Socrates is arguing that
due to politics corrupt nature, anybody that wants to fight for justice must stay out of the public eye.

Compare And Contrast Football And Baseball
America s favorite sports is defined by many as either American Football or Baseball. These sports are
highly watched by Americans across the globe. Football, a hard hitting adrenaline filled sport.
Baseball, a strategic, simple and long lasting game filled with short times of excitement. Although
these two sports are thought of as America s favorite sport, they differ tremendously in rules of the
game, season length and the playoffs. First, the rules of the game. In football the goal is to have the
ball cross the plain of the opposing team s end zone. This can be done either by passing the ball to
players designated as either receivers or running backs, or running the ball on the ground with a
running back. Baseball on the other hand has a pitcher throwing the ball across the plate with different
speeds and curves. When a batter hits the ball he runs to the provided bases in sequence. Once that
player crosses the plate again he scores. To defend this from happening, players are in the ... Show

championship. Five games are played in the divisional and conference levels, seven games are played
for the championship series. In conclusion, Football and Baseball are similar in the sense of being
Americas favorite sports. On the other hand these sports are very different in the sense of rules of the
game on scoring as well as defending. Season length in both sports differs from amount of games as
well as how long the sports teams play for. Lastly, the playoffs are far different in the sense of amount
of games played to continue in the playoff bracket in order to become the World Champions for that

Gender Performativity In The Wonder Woman Series
With the implementation of the Comics Code Authority and its domination of the comic field, Marston
s creation that subverted gender norms had become problematic. The Code called for comics to
conform to the social conservative ideals currently held in society and the original Wonder Woman
flew in the face of that. Though Marston s widow begged DC Comics to be given the reins of the
Wonder Woman series after Marston s death, the company handed over control of the series to Robert
Kanigher, who they knew would conform and adhere to the regulation of the Comics Code Authority.
The Code called for an emphasis on the value of the home and the sanctity of marriage and Kanigher
absolved to honour and submit to the symbolic power of the Code. All gender subversion was wiped
out of the series. Wonder Woman conformed and under Kanigher s run, feminine gender
performativity became evident. Lepore best describes it: In the 1950s, Wonder Woman followed the
hundreds of thousands of American women who had worked during the war only to be told, when
peace came, that not only was their labour no longer needed, but it threatened the stability of the
nation by undermining. The following sections will examine how Butler s concept of gender
performativity was present in Wonder Woman series under the height of the Comics Code Authority s
power in the comic field.

How Does The Concentration Of Hydrochloric Acid Affect The...
Aim:
To investigate how concentration affects the volume of gas that is produced after one minute.
Background Information:
In this experiment hydrochloric acid is reacting with magnesium to form magnesium chloride and
hydrogen, and the chemical equation goes as follows:
Mg(s) + 2HCl(aq) == MgCl2 (aq) + H2 (g)
Particles must collide with each other at a certain activation energy in order for a chemical reaction to
take place. Reducing the concentration reduces the amount of particles, which in turn reduces the
probability of particles colliding with enough activation energy thus reducing the rate of reaction.
Hypothesis:
I predict that the rate of reaction will increase as the concentration increases. This is due to the fact

results that I got agree with my hypothesis because I predicted that the higher the concentration the
faster the rate of reaction would be, and the results I got show that more gas was produced at each
given time interval as the concentration increased. THis is due to the fact that as the concentration
increases, the number of particles increases. Therefore, resulting in a higher chance of successful
collision which in turn increases the rate of

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Environment Essay
If people knew the benefits of nature besides cute animals and a place for them to vacation. If they
knew nature provided clean air, fresh water, pollinators for our crops, new medicines, new food crops,
and that we can t afford to produce these things for ourselves... They would understand the full value
of nature, Harrison Ford. Climate change is a hotly debated topic in our world. There are those who
believe humanity is causing the changes we are currently experiencing. Additionally, there are groups
disputing the claim, citing research that states the climate goes through cyclic periods of warming and
cooling. Several groups have a part in the debate surrounding the causes of climate change, creating
further confusion for the general public. There is evidence supporting each side, though at this time
there is not enough to make a definitive conclusion. The greenhouse effect is the retaining of solar
energy in the atmosphere that heats the planet. This is necessary for life to thrive, though causes issues
when unregulated (Issitt and Flynn). While global climate change is the modification of the planet s
temperatures, in recent years the trend has been warming. Humans have been a contributing factor to
the current changes in climate, although there are other natural elements to be considered for effective
understanding of global warming. The reason or reasons for the current temperature changes are
debatable. Greenhouse gases are an essential part of the

The Advantage And Disadvantages Of Being An Instrument
Being stubborn has its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that it leads to being dedicated
for everything you start. In middle school, specifically in fifth grade, band class and being able to

they find one they enjoy. I, along with a handful of other people in my grade, joined a year late. Not
only was I a year late, but I also missed sign ups again, and joined a few months into my sixth grade

To improve the ovens, fire chambers were invented that contained the wood fire, and holes were built
into the top of these chambers that cooking pots with flat bottoms could be placed directly upon
replacing the cauldron. Around 1728, cast iron ovens began to be made in quantity. These first ovens
of German design were called Five plate or Jamb stoves. Around 1800, Benjamin Thompson invented
a working iron kitchen stove called the Rumford stove that was designed for very large working
kitchens. However, the Rumford stove was too large from the average kitchen and inventors continued
to improve their designs. Cast iron stoves continued to evolve, with iron gratings added to the cooking
holes, and added chimneys and connecting flue pipes. Jordan Mott invented the first practical coal
oven in 1833. British inventor, James Sharp patented a gas oven in 1826, the first semi successful gas
oven to appear on the market. It was not until the late 1920s and early 1930s that electric ovens began
to compete with gas ovens, however, electric ovens were available as early as the 1890s. Some
historians credit, Canadian Thomas Ahearn with inventing the first electric oven in 1882. The
Carpenter Electric Heating Manufacturing Company invented an electric oven in 1891. In 1910,
William Hadaway designed the first toaster made by Westinghouse, a horizontal combination toaster
cooker. (Bellis, 2012)

How Did Anne Moody Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
The abolishment of slavery in 1865 was only the beginning of a long, strenuous fight for African
American citizens in the United States. The abolition may have freed the slaves physically but did not
free them of the social injustices they had yet to endure. The African American civil rights movement
took place in 1954 through 1968. (history.com) The civil rights movement is described as the struggle
for social justice, a battle fought for blacks to be seen as equals under the laws of the United states.
Many people were involved in progressing the movement including but not limited to Rosa Parks,
Martin Luther King Jr, Malcom X and Anne Moody. Throughout her lifetime Anne Moody has had a
major impact on the African American Civil rights movement. Despite her personal struggles, Moody
used her life to promote the enlightenment and progression of African American citizens. Moody s
perseverance, hatred, and alienation contributed to her educational and creative success as well as her
contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the novel, Coming of age in Mississippi.
Essie Mae Moody also known as Anne Moody was born September 15, 1940 in Wilkerson County

A Cod Forsaken Place
The term knowledge is power is attributed to Sir Francis Bacon, and has been prominently used
throughout the years since. When the term is used in modern day, it is often thought of as becoming
more knowledgeable about certain topics, allowing one to make more informed decisions.
Furthermore, this leaves the term power with a connotation revolving around doing good, or using the
power for the greater good. However, when it comes to down to environmental issues, it is often not
the case. The notion of the tragedy of the commons is also relevant, as people who obtain knowledge
on environmental issues will often attend to their own self interest, rather than using the knowledge to
increase environmental sustainability. Conclusively, when it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, when examining environmental sustainability, it does not seem to be the case. When people
are faced with knowledge in relation to natural resources that may be sold for personal capital, people
are quick to exploit the resource without taking the environment into consideration. For example, it
can be presumed that if people did not have knowledge of the abundance of cod in Newfoundland in
the 1960 s, the environment would have been thriving in that area to this day. Similarly, a notion that
was present in Davis article is the tragedy of the commons. This plays a key role when looking at the
environment today, in a capitalist world. Furthermore, people are often too caught up in extending
their own enterprises to even consider the potential effects that certain acts can have on the
environment. On the other hand, there are people who obtain knowledge on something that is harming
the environment, yet they do not act on that knowledge or do anything to mitigate the damage. In the
modern world and especially western society, people will easily put their needs above the environment
from which we live. Therefore, from a sustainability point of view, knowledge is not

Roles Of The Khilafat Movement
: The business related with the printing and circulation of news through daily papers and magazines
called print media.
ROLE OF PRINT MEDIA:
In the sub continent, journalism began with manually written news sheets, arranged by government
news authors at the time when Muslims were ruling. They were composed, dated, showed up at
general and customary intervals.
With the ruin of Mughal rule, Britain began hostile attack into the subcontinent. Wherever contempt
for British surfaced, individuals began exclusive manually written papers keeping in mind the goal of
raise more hate against East India Company. In 1857, such papers assumed a powerful part. News
writers were allocated in every regions of the empire to gather news and publish it in the paper for the

It was a pan Islamic movement between 1919 till 1924. Some of the great journalists of that time like
Maulana Mohammad Ali Johar and his brother Maulana Shaukat Ali worked very hard for this cause
with lots of other important personalities. The Muslim press and newspapers also played an important
role amongst the Muslims about the importance of the Khilafat Movement. Initially the movement
was quite successful through strikes and protests all over India but this movement could not gain a lot
of success in the long run. However, the role of Muslim press during that time would always be
remembered in history with golden words.
Although the Khilafat Movement was not a success, it united the Muslims of Sub continent and
injected a new spirit amongst them which was the real energy behind the independence movement
later on.
ROLE IN ALL INDIA MUSLIM LEAGUE:
In the 25th session of All India Muslim League organized in Allahabad, Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal
presented the idea of two nation theory which states that Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations

Counselor Interview Paper
Counselor Interview What practice settings did you considered when you chose the counselor to
interview? I was considering interviewing a counselor in the community counseling setting as I,
myself is on the same track with the same interest, and motivation. However, while my interest falls
toward community settings or private practice, I interviewed a counselor who works at Cuyahoga
Community College on the east side campus. She has been counselor about 13 years. Prior to the
interview my understanding was, working as a counselor in a school stings, it would need to have
school counseling license. As she further explained it, as a LPC she is entitled to work in school
setting at Tri C. She defined counseling a guidance that helps with the development of a student
academically and socially. What other professionals are employed in this setting and what are their
roles at the agency? As we continued the interview, she talked about their services that they provide
including academic, career, and personal counseling. Besides counselors, there are two par time
psychologists, who provide assessment for students. How does the professional counselor interact
with other professionals (e.g., interdisciplinary treatment team) The counselors do interact on regular
basis with the psychologists, as they have a common goal for its students, they work collaboratively.
Their philosophy of counseling is that all students are unique

American History X

Cultural Anthropology
American History X I hate anyone that is not white Protestant, begins Danny Vinyard, the brother of a
former neo Nazi skinhead. American History X offers opinions from two sides through one character,
the ex neo Nazi Derek, and the post prison reformed Derek. The post prison formed Derek serves as a
vision of hope for present time. This powerful movie not only depicts the most disturbing aspects of
racism, but also shows how close racism is to the middle class, white Americans. American History X
is a fictional story that is told through the eyes of Derek s brother Daniel, who is being recruited in the
white power movement. This white power movement, also called skinheads, demonstrates how ...

This store was chosen because it used to be run by whites, with white associates, who got fired and
replaced by Mexican associates with a Korean management. The skinheads agreed they should attack
the Koreans for hiring border jumpers and so they did. Later, Daniel recalls when their mother invited
the boy s Jewish history teacher over for dinner. Things turned out of control with Derek s sister stood
up against her brother, saying that what he was doing was wrong and she didn t agree. The argument
turned violent so fast when Derek grabbed his sister s hair and began to choke her. After an argument,
Derek yelled at the teacher, and showed him his Swastika tattoo, affirming that it meant not welcome.
Derek s mom says Derek needs to move out by the morning. After everyone has fallen asleep, Daniel
informs Derek that two black guys are breaking into his car. It is this night that Derek murders the two
black guys and gets arrested shortly after pulling the trigger. Derek killed one by a terrible act known
as curbing, even after the death of the two, his facial expression showed no remorse. In prison, Derek
unhesitatingly realizes he is the minority. He finds comfort when he is taken in by another group of
neo Nazi s. He begins to work with a black male who repeatedly tries to talk to Derek. After several
failed attempts, Derek sees past his color and sees him for an actual human being. After playing one

Prince Rogers Nelson Biography
Prince Rogers Nelson, the artist known as Prince who Thursday became formerly with a devastating
finality at only 57, was so gifted it barely can be believed, let alone described. Thankfully, it hardly
needs to be, because anyone who wasn t frightened off by his flagrancies and ambiguities could tell
that this was a talent of the kind that rearranges what culture can do and what a human can be the kind
possessed, for instance, by two artists who predeceased him, his contemporary Michael Jackson and
his elder by a dozen years David Bowie, and a very short list of other figures in pop music history.
He was one of the finest ever pop singers, one of the most incredible guitarists (the anecdote in which
Eric Clapton once replied to the question What s it like to be the greatest guitarist alive? by saying I
don t know, ask Prince is probably apocryphal but, on a higher plane, definitely correct), and one of
the most indelible songwriters, most influential producers, best wearers (and removers) of clothing,
and most electric semiotic manipulators.

The Effect Of Global Warming On The Environment
The temperature was taken at each of the sites to determine the heat of the water. The temperature of
the water affects the dissolved oxygen as well as the rate of photosynthesis and the metabolic rates of
water life. (Hovey, n.d) Warmer water can hold less dissolved oxygen and plants grow and die more
quickly. Therefore it can be deduced that cooler water allows for a more comfortable environment for
animals and vegetation.
Ms. Hovey conducted a study on the Severn Estuary in the UK and noticed that the temperature of the
water has increased. Increasing temperature of the water can result from Global Warming. As Global
Warming alters temperature and weather patterns, it could have an impact on plant and animal life.

Results were recorded in these areas. The pH values in the mouth, lagoon and middle reaches of the
estuary were similar ranging between 6.0 and 8.8. Low pH values were occasionally recorded in the
head reach, resulting from the inflow of acidic waters from the Knysna River. Russell found that there
was a decrease in the number of biodiversity living near the head reaches of the lagoon. (I.A. Russell,
1996)
Biodiversity is affected by changes in pH and start to die out when the pH level has changed as the
animals and plants find it hard to adapt. In the Siyaya river, if the pH level had to change because of
the river becoming open to the sea, the animals and plants will be affected and decrease in number.
Atmospheric pollution among other air pollutants can cause rain water to become acidic. The rain
water collects in rivers and the water will become acidic therefore endangering humans who use the
water as well as killing or weakening the biodiversity in the river as well as the surrounding areas of
the river.
Dr Kjerfe has stated that there will be an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels which will
increase the probability of rain water becoming acidic therefore affecting the biodiversity of the area
surrounding the tributaries/ rivers. The acidic rain would impact especially the Siyaya River and the
Amanzimnyama River as they are placed in heavily vegetated areas. The acidic rain

Drinking Age Essay
Drinking Age When teen agers turn 18, they are told that they are adults and are sent into the world.
They go to college, get a job, marry or join the military. They do grown up things like vote, pay taxes
and become parents. But they can t go to the pub for a beer because when it comes to liquor, they are
still just kids. Where s the fairness in the 21 and older drinking law? First, it is necessary to question
this law. Why is 21 the magical age that makes one intelligent and mature enough to consume alcohol?
Surely, some adults abuse alcohol and some teenagers would be perfectly able to drink responsibly.
This seemingly arbitrary number is associated with adulthood, as if the day a person turns 21 they
know everything and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they have the opportunity to drink, they do so in an irresponsible manner because drinking by
these youth is seen as a badge of rebellion against authority and a symbol of adulthood. Clearly, this
kind of devious attitude does not encourage responsible drinking. While young people in foreign
countries learn to regard moderate drinking as an enjoyable social activity, young Americans view it
as something they have to sneak around to do. If 18 year olds do not have legal access to even a beer
in a public place, they are ill equipped to deal with the responsibilities that come with drinking when
they do have the right. The drinking age should be lowered because the current age has no real basis.
With a lowered drinking age, fewer problems will be present. Safe drinking needs to be taught, along
with drinking in moderation. All of the arguments for having a raised drinking level or retaining the
current one are weak. The problems that make a drinking age limit necessary are better solved through
a lowered drinking level. Tightening the laws on underage drinking is wrong, as laws will still be
broken and people 20 years, 364 days and younger will continue to consume alcohol. The answer to
the problem of underage drinking is not to add more restrictions, rather, it is simple: get rid of the
underage part. With the thrill of breaking the law gone and the access to the bar granted, people,
especially college

Richard IIi As A Historic Play
Richard III is literarily known as a historic play. This play portrays historical events, such as when the
play opens, Edward IV has become re crowned. This play represents 14 years of events which is
condensed into about 14 days. There are ultimately elements of tragedy and comedy throughout this
play and many of which these elements seem unusual to this documented event in history. The first
factor that is revealed that makes this play not entirely a historic retelling is that Shakespeare makes it
his own. The events are exaggerated and many fictional elements are involved. Curses and other
supernatural elements are mentioned throughout the play. Firstly, curses are represented through
Queen Margaret, old widow of King Henry VI. Her late husband was pushed from the throne by
Richard s family so that Edward IV could be crowned king; Richard also killed her son. Her lonely
mumbles as she sulks around the castle are curses that she sets. In Act 1, Scene 3, Margaret calls on
the power of divine justice and states many things that later come true, some of these include that
King Edward IV should die; Queen Margaret should outlive her children and be made to see a woman
crowned queen; Richard should be betrayed by his friends; Rivers, Dorset and Hastings should die
young; Richard should have a nightmare filled sleep. Richard says that Margaret s cursing is the
talking of a hateful, bitter hag (1.3.16) and after these curses come true, Queen Elizabeth asks, O thou

La Bahia Meaning
1.LA BAHÍA. La Bahía, literally the bay, is a term with multiple meanings in Texas history. Various
sites on the Gulf Coast were so designated. The Spanish came to use the name as a short form of La
BahĂa del EspĂritu Santo, or Bay of the Holy Spirit, now called Matagorda Bay and Lavaca Bay,
bounded by present Calhoun, Victoria, Jackson, and Matagorda counties. (In 1519 Alonso Álvarez de
Pineda called the Mississippi River the RĂo del EspĂritu Santo, and others extended the name to the
bay.) The official application of the name to Matagorda and Lavaca bays occurred during the Spanish
search for the French colony planted by RenĂŠ Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle.
2.The name La BahĂa subsequently referred both to the bay and to entities associated

OGAKWU INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES, UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, ENUGU CAMPUS. AUGUST 2009 BACKGROUND The Niger Delta produces the oil wealth which accounts for the bulk of Nigeria s foreign earnings. Over time, the effects of oil and gas exploration on the environment have become a cause of concern to stakeholders, government, NGOs communities and individuals. This has led the government to formulate various policies to arrest the situation and thus promote sustainable exploration activities. Unfortunately, most of these programs have not yielded the desired results (Guardian Newspaper 2006: 16). The rural populace in the Niger Delta mainly practice fishing and subsistence farming, but during floods, which lasts for over half of the year in some areas the waters are usually contaminated which negatively affects marine life; with the waters unable to sustain vegetation due to petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants. Drinking water is scarce and in the dry season, water is usually not available which also increases the risk of water borne diseases. The inhabitants of the area also experience scorching heat daily from gas flaring which is also detrimental to the health of the people (Chukwuezi, 2006:4). The major problems of the Niger Delta Region mentioned above can be summarized as follows: Poverty Poverty has been described as the inability of a person to meet basic needs such as food, shelter,

  • 12. Truth Behind The Mirror Reflections no longer hold truth when encased by a mirror. There is darkness behind the glass that seeps into people s subconscious. As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the victim. This demonstrates how society s views can have a negative effect on an individual. Outside pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day, the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become muddled. Mud that is now stirred in with the water will not let the sediment float back to the pond s bottom which makes it appear that the once clear water will forever remain as a diluted pond. Even the moss that is scattered on the surface limits the person s view, and capsizes on their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Outbreak, Causes, And Risks, Effects And Prevention Of The... An outbreak disease which is likely to be a potential disease in New Zealand is measles. This is a very contagious and deadly virus that has caused a huge amount of deaths during previous centuries. The main symptoms of this virus include a sore throat, fever, rashes and inflamed eyes. This disease is very hard to detect within two weeks of infection because you are not able to see clear signs or symptoms of measles. This outbreak, however, is not particularly new to New Zealand, as it has been previously seen here in the 1960s and but has started being witnessed in the upper north island and now occurring in the South Island. This essay will discuss, the outbreak, causes, and risks, impact and prevention of the measles virus. An outbreak is when the number of cases for a disease is suddenly more than the expected number of counts, with the outbreak occurring within a limited geographical area, for example, Auckland or Mt Roskill. This is similar to an epidemic, but the area that would be affected is different for the two. If the measles disease were to impact on a geographical location, infecting a large number of people in a small period, it would be labelled as an epidemic with the cases reported more than the expected count, but because an outbreak is limited to the particular geographical area, it is labelled an outbreak. The expected count of cases for the disease occurring could be identified looking at previous times in which the outbreak occurred. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The prenatal period provides an opportunity to make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance behaviors. Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to the pregnant women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications (Chapman Durham, 2010). Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment, treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first 28 weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG, 2016). Washington recommended the spies to use the ink, on the blank leaves of a pamphlet. . . a common pocket book, or on the blank leaves at each end of registers, almanacks, or any publication or book of small value. • 23. The Federal Budget Deficit The Federal Budget Deficit Introduction The federal budget deficit is a much discussed and little understood subject in American politics. The current recession has dramatically decreased tax revenues, driving the United States federal government to increase spending in an attempt to stabilize the economy. As a result the current federal deficit is at over $1.3 trillion dollars. This is approximately $47,754 per U.S. citizen or $137,552 per U. S. taxpayer (U.S. Debt Clock: Real Time, 2012). Many contend that deficit reduction is imperative to our prosperity and economic recovery. The deficit is blamed for a variety of economic ills including high interest rates, unemployment, the trade deficit, the low rate of national saving and low productivity growth (Shaviro, 1997). The Causes of the Budget Deficit Many believe the country s dramatic decent into debt began with a choice, not a crisis. In January of 2001, with the budget balanced, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) forecast that the nation would have over a $2 trillion dollar surplus by 2010, enough money to pay off the entire national debt. In the years following 2001 political leaders chose to cut taxes, increase spending, and wage two wars solely with borrowed funds (Montgomery, 2011). Today the national debt is larger, as a percentage of the economy, than at any time in U.S. history except for the period shortly after World War II. For such a long time, HIV/AIDS has been called a gay disease. Even though the gay community was and is one the most affected populations, is stating HIV/AIDS is a gay disease honestly rational or is it simply a way for individuals who do not agree with same sex lifestyles to villainize and blame the very people they despise? This use of the CDC, the Center for Disease Control, as a source is very strong and credible because it is the sole purpose of the CDC to disclose information regarding diseases and viruses in the United States. The article continues to use other, equally as strong sources, such as: the New York Times, UNAIDS, and Dr. Sharon Hillier of the University of Pittsburgh. • 32. Gender Performativity In The Wonder Woman Series With the implementation of the Comics Code Authority and its domination of the comic field, Marston s creation that subverted gender norms had become problematic. The Code called for comics to conform to the social conservative ideals currently held in society and the original Wonder Woman flew in the face of that. Though Marston s widow begged DC Comics to be given the reins of the Wonder Woman series after Marston s death, the company handed over control of the series to Robert Kanigher, who they knew would conform and adhere to the regulation of the Comics Code Authority. The Code called for an emphasis on the value of the home and the sanctity of marriage and Kanigher absolved to honour and submit to the symbolic power of the Code. All gender subversion was wiped out of the series. Wonder Woman conformed and under Kanigher s run, feminine gender performativity became evident. I was considering interviewing a counselor in the community counseling setting as I, myself is on the same track with the same interest, and motivation. However, while my interest falls toward community settings or private practice, I interviewed a counselor who works at Cuyahoga Community College on the east side campus. She has been counselor about 13 years. Prior to the interview my understanding was, working as a counselor in a school stings, it would need to have school counseling license. As she further explained it, as a LPC she is entitled to work in school setting at Tri C. She defined counseling a guidance that helps with the development of a student academically and socially. What other professionals are employed in this setting and what are their roles at the agency? As we continued the interview, she talked about their services that they provide including academic, career, and personal counseling. Besides counselors, there are two par time psychologists, who provide assessment for students. How does the professional counselor interact with other professionals (e.g., interdisciplinary treatment team) The counselors do interact on regular basis with the psychologists, as they have a common goal for its students, they work collaboratively. Prince Rogers Nelson Biography Prince Rogers Nelson, the artist known as Prince who Thursday became formerly with a devastating finality at only 57, was so gifted it barely can be believed, let alone described. Thankfully, it hardly needs to be, because anyone who wasn t frightened off by his flagrancies and ambiguities could tell that this was a talent of the kind that rearranges what culture can do and what a human can be the kind possessed, for instance, by two artists who predeceased him, his contemporary Michael Jackson and his elder by a dozen years David Bowie, and a very short list of other figures in pop music history. He was one of the finest ever pop singers, one of the most incredible guitarists (the anecdote in which Eric Clapton once replied to the question What s it like to be the greatest guitarist alive? by saying I don t know, ask Prince is probably apocryphal but, on a higher plane, definitely correct), and one of the most indelible songwriters, most influential producers, best wearers (and removers) of clothing, and most electric semiotic manipulators. • 46. The Effect Of Global Warming On The Environment The temperature was taken at each of the sites to determine the heat of the water. The temperature of the water affects the dissolved oxygen as well as the rate of photosynthesis and the metabolic rates of water life. (Hovey, n.d) Warmer water can hold less dissolved oxygen and plants grow and die more quickly. Therefore it can be deduced that cooler water allows for a more comfortable environment for animals and vegetation. Ms. Hovey conducted a study on the Severn Estuary in the UK and noticed that the temperature of the water has increased. Increasing temperature of the water can result from Global Warming. As Global Warming alters temperature and weather patterns, it could have an impact on plant and animal life. Both the number and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Results were recorded in these areas. The pH values in the mouth, lagoon and middle reaches of the estuary were similar ranging between 6.0 and 8.8. Low pH values were occasionally recorded in the head reach, resulting from the inflow of acidic waters from the Knysna River. Russell found that there was a decrease in the number of biodiversity living near the head reaches of the lagoon. (I.A. Russell, 1996) Biodiversity is affected by changes in pH and start to die out when the pH level has changed as the animals and plants find it hard to adapt. In the Siyaya river, if the pH level had to change because of the river becoming open to the sea, the animals and plants will be affected and decrease in number. Atmospheric pollution among other air pollutants can cause rain water to become acidic. The rain water collects in rivers and the water will become acidic therefore endangering humans who use the water as well as killing or weakening the biodiversity in the river as well as the surrounding areas of the river. Dr Kjerfe has stated that there will be an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels which will increase the probability of rain water becoming acidic therefore affecting the biodiversity of the area surrounding the tributaries/ rivers. The acidic rain would impact especially the Siyaya River and the Amanzimnyama River as they are placed in heavily vegetated areas. The acidic rain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Drinking Age Essay Drinking Age When teen agers turn 18, they are told that they are adults and are sent into the world. They go to college, get a job, marry or join the military. They do grown up things like vote, pay taxes and become parents. But they can t go to the pub for a beer because when it comes to liquor, they are still just kids. Where s the fairness in the 21 and older drinking law? First, it is necessary to question this law. Why is 21 the magical age that makes one intelligent and mature enough to consume alcohol? Surely, some adults abuse alcohol and some teenagers would be perfectly able to drink responsibly. This seemingly arbitrary number is associated with adulthood, as if the day a person turns 21 they know everything and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When they have the opportunity to drink, they do so in an irresponsible manner because drinking by these youth is seen as a badge of rebellion against authority and a symbol of adulthood. Clearly, this kind of devious attitude does not encourage responsible drinking. While young people in foreign countries learn to regard moderate drinking as an enjoyable social activity, young Americans view it as something they have to sneak around to do. If 18 year olds do not have legal access to even a beer in a public place, they are ill equipped to deal with the responsibilities that come with drinking when they do have the right. The drinking age should be lowered because the current age has no real basis. With a lowered drinking age, fewer problems will be present. Safe drinking needs to be taught, along with drinking in moderation. All of the arguments for having a raised drinking level or retaining the current one are weak. The problems that make a drinking age limit necessary are better solved through a lowered drinking level. Tightening the laws on underage drinking is wrong, as laws will still be broken and people 20 years, 364 days and younger will continue to consume alcohol. The answer to the problem of underage drinking is not to add more restrictions, rather, it is simple: get rid of the underage part. With the thrill of breaking the law gone and the access to the bar granted, people, especially college ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Richard IIi As A Historic Play Richard III is literarily known as a historic play. This play portrays historical events, such as when the play opens, Edward IV has become re crowned. This play represents 14 years of events which is condensed into about 14 days. There are ultimately elements of tragedy and comedy throughout this play and many of which these elements seem unusual to this documented event in history. The first factor that is revealed that makes this play not entirely a historic retelling is that Shakespeare makes it his own. The events are exaggerated and many fictional elements are involved. Curses and other supernatural elements are mentioned throughout the play. Firstly, curses are represented through Queen Margaret, old widow of King Henry VI. Her late husband was pushed from the throne by Richard s family so that Edward IV could be crowned king; Richard also killed her son. Her lonely mumbles as she sulks around the castle are curses that she sets. In Act 1, Scene 3, Margaret calls on the power of divine justice and states many things that later come true, some of these include that King Edward IV should die; Queen Margaret should outlive her children and be made to see a woman crowned queen; Richard should be betrayed by his friends; Rivers, Dorset and Hastings should die young; Richard should have a nightmare filled sleep. Richard says that Margaret s cursing is the talking of a hateful, bitter hag (1.3.16) and after these curses come true, Queen Elizabeth asks, O thou ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
