Indian s today
One of the largest issues facing the American Indian s today is that health care. As tribes and urban
Indian health centers struggle along with the rest of the country to address the growing numbers of
Elders in their communities. There are key issues and special considerations that must be addressed to
ensure American Indian Elders are not forgotten in any proposed reform or redesign proposals that the
newly formed Medicaid Commission or Congress put forth. By 2030, it is estimated there will be
430,000 American Indian and Alaska Native Elders, constituting 12.2% of the American Indian
population (Day, 1993). While the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nearly three out of five of them live below 200% of poverty. Only 66 percent of eligible Indians are
accessing Social Security, a rate far lower than the national average of 88 percent. As the diabetes
epidemic continues in Indian Country, elders are affected by the disease and its complications more
severely than any other age group. More than two of every five Native elders have diabetes and in
some communities, more than half of our elders are afflicted. As they live longer, elders are also living
with the complications and disabilities caused by the disease. We need more help from you in
educating them about how to prevent the disease . . . or how to live with it. Nowhere are the disparities
in minority health care so great . . . nowhere is the mandate to the federal government so compelling
as with the well being of Indian elders (Baldridge, 2002).

Super Ego Research Paper
Egos
Our ID ego is our wants and needs. If these needs and wants are not met we become a very tense
person. We get very anxious and upset because out wants and needs have not been met. There are
many things that can explain this. For example when people are hungry and in a line for food, they
could not be getting there wants and needs right away because they want that food now and cannot
wait another second for it. So instead of waiting to get to their table, they start stuffing their face right
away while they are in the line of food. On the other hand, when this really happens, most people have
respect and realize that everyone has their wants and needs in their life. So with respect they deal with
these things just as well as others do. For the person in a food line that is hungry can deal with this.
They could be at a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The super ego is about morals and judgement. It is about right and wrong, and our choice we make
because of what we think. The super ego is why we make certain decisions about certain things. For
example we know we can steal things from work, the store, friends and many other places and things.
With our super ego we know that stealing is wrong and so we then make the choice and choose not to
steal.
Defense mechanisms help get rid of unwanted feelings that we tend to get. They also make good
things feel better for a person. If your egos are too weak, you then tend to break with anxiety because
it becomes too much for you. There are many examples of defense mechanisms. There is denial.
People who smoke tend to have this a lot. They will not admit to themselves that smoking is bad for
them and their health, they are in denial about it. When
something is too much to handle they will deny it. There is also repression. This is where you keep
your threatening thought from being conscious. We get very large amounts of guilt from theses so we
use our ego defense to fight them off. There are many different defense mechanisms that we

The Four Branches Of Proteomics
Proteomics has four branches that include sequence and structural proteomics, expression proteomics,
interaction proteomics and functional proteomics. Provide one example for each branch and describe
them briefly.
The analysis of a complete set of proteins (proteome) of a given cell or organism can be defined as
proteomics (Phillips Bogyo, 2005). The primary aim of proteomic analysis is to separate, identify and
characterize proteins and understand their interactions with other proteins. There are four branches of
proteomics which are sequence and structural proteomics, expression proteomics, interaction
proteomics and functional proteomics.

According to Berggard et al. (2007), human genomes consist of 20 000 30 000 genes coding for over
500 000 different proteins of which more than 10 000 proteins can be produced by the cell at any
given time. These protein protein interactions are regulated by several mechanisms. To detect protein
interactions on a large scale, the methods need to be suitable and have to meet several criteria. One of
the technologies used here is the yeast two hybrid system. According to Auerbach et al. (n.d.), the
yeast two hybrid system is a genetic system where an interaction between a known bait protein and its
partner expressed from a library can be detected by reconstitution of a transcription factor and
concurrent activation of a set of reporter genes. Furthermore, this system is well suited to high
throughput applications that desire automatization. This approaches have used two complementary
approaches which are the so called matrix approach and the library screening approach in order to
screen large sets of proteins. In addition, this system offers a number of advantages over many of the
biochemical procedures often used to analyze the protein protein interactions (Causier Davies, 2002).
Since it avoids costly procedures such as antibody production and protein purification thus yeast two
hybrid technology is relatively inexpensive. It is easy to screen the cDNA expression libraries

William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, Hamlet, And Henry V
The Renaissance was a time in which mankind was rediscovering itself. For ages, men were simply
trying to exist, survive more than anything else. The Renaissance was a period in which men no longer
had to just get by everyday, but could begin exploring morality. No other Renaissance author
characterizes this more than William Shakespeare in the early 1600s. His plays highlight the internal
moral struggle that every man goes through, the concept of what is right and what is wrong in a world
that is full of gray areas. More specifically he deals with the concept of honor and morality in several
of his plays. Julius Caesar, Hamlet, and Henry V, to a lesser extent, deal with how men handle these
and can reconcile otherwise heinous acts. Now, being well aware that Shakespeare does not account
for all the Renaissance writers, however his are the most prevalent still today and it can be argued that
Shakespeare did not work alone. For the sake of organization, it is far easier to tackle these literary
works in chronological order and analyze the individual pieces first and then view them all as one
whole. Henry V
The earliest of Shakespeare s plays was Henry V written in 1599. As a whole the play is mostly just a
retelling of the battle of Agincourt in the year 1415, featuring the now very famous, St. Crispin s Day
speech. However Shakespeare manages to capture the intensity and pure chaos of war while also
having a solid undertone about the morality of men and sending a

What Are Horace Mann s Principles Of Education
Horace Mann, who is also known as the Father of American Public Education, is best known for his
determination in reforming the public schooling system of the United States of America in the early
1800s. Horace Mann was born on May 4, 1796 in Franklin, Massachusetts to his parents, Thomas
Mann and Rebecca Stanley Mann. Growing up in poverty, Horace Mann learned to be self reliant
from an early age. Although Horace, himself, did not have a proper education from the ages of 10 to
20, he self studied at his local library. At the age of 20, Mann enrolled himself into Brown University
and graduated as the top of his class in 1819. During 1822 23, he studied law at Litchfield Law
School. In 1827, Mann was elected to the Massachusetts legislature and served until 1833. In 1835,
Mann was elected to the Massachusetts State Senate and was its president from 1836 to 1837. In 1837,
Horace Mann was appointed as secretary of the Board ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He stated his six main principles addressing the problems of the public schooling system. His first
statement was that the public should not remain ignorant for long. The second statement was that the
public should take interest in paying for and maintaining education. The third statement was that the
best education can be provided in schools that welcome children from different social classes,
religions, and ethnic backgrounds. The fourth statement was that education should be free from
sectarian influence. The fifth statement was that tenets of a free society should prevail while
separating from education. Finally, the last statement is that education should be provided by well
trained, professional teachers. Many of social and political groups did not agree with Mann s beliefs.
Priests were angered by Mann s belief that religion should not be part of the classroom, and politicians
hesitated at the overreach of authority in the local school

Analysis Of Robert Hayden s Those Winter Sundays
Showing love and gratitude goes a long way in strengthening relationships and makes us better
understands the sacrifices others make on our behalf. In those winter Sundays, Robert Hayden stated a
lot with very few words. This was possible due to brilliant use of imagery, metaphor and sound. His
striking words invoke thoughts in the mind of the reader of this dedicated father, up alone exposed to
the harsh elements who works hard each day to make his family comfortable, however they don t
value his acts of good will, nor did they give him any credit. In many cases, we glance back at one
point in our lives with lament. We feel that had it been, what we currently know, we knew back then
we would have made different choices, things would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Great use of imagery throughout the poem really emphasized Hayden s message. Hayden recollects
the memory of this specific Sunday morning. Using the word too suggests that the father rises early
consistently, regardless of what day it is. He dresses in the severe cold. His hands have cracks because
of the cold weather and the grueling work that he does each day.
When his dad turns on the chimneys and stoves, to make the house warm for his loved ones. His
striking words make me invoke thoughts in my mind of this persevering dad up alone wide open to the
harsh elements. When he noted his dads, hands were cracked, and that they ached it was a great use of
imagery. This was used to portray how hard working he was, as well as a symbol for all the agony and
inconvenience he was willing to bear for his family.
Hayden depicted sounds and in addition pictures in the same elucidating way when he wrote I awoke
and heard the cold splintering, breaking. Possibly, what Hayden heard was cracking noises that came
from the fire or ice softening off the windows. In any case, this decision of imagery is utilized to show
the devotion of his dad. He was willing to go out in the cold to break the ice of the windows for those
he cared about. Furthermore, Hayden s inclusion of the word blueback cold, was to stress that the sun

Summary Of Charlotte Perkins Stetson s The Yellow Wallpaper
In the year 1892, Charlotte Perkins Stetson wrote a short story called The Yellow Wallpaper. During
the time Stetson wrote the story, some women were suffering from depression or extreme cases of
nervousness. These women would see a neurologist or a psychiatrist who would prescribe them with
the rest cure. The rest cure was a regimen of forced bed rest, restricted diet, and a combination of
massage and electrical muscle stimulation in place of exercise. (Harris) Stetson herself suffered from
depression. She received help from the famous neurologist S. Weir Mitchell, the inventor of the rest
cure, who prescribed her with the rest cure to take care of her depression. The Yellow Wallpaper, a
narrative about the rest cure, explains how confinement can lead to insanity through symbolism,
characterization, and imagery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A contributing factor is the narrator s husband. He first tells her not to be around people and also tells
her not to do anything that would wear her out. Something the narrator loves to do is write, but her
husband says she can t because it would tire her. However, what her husband doesn t know is that she
writes in secret when he is not home. This is one of the many issues she has to hide from her husband.
She also has to hide when she is angry with him. The narrator says, But John says if I feel so, I shall
neglect proper self control; so I take pains to control myself before him, at least, and that makes me
very tired. (Stetson 648) Her husband symbolizes the confinement of the narrator s personality. She
can t get angry when she feels like it or write when she wants to, because her husband has a leash on

Film Commentary on Hakka Stuffed Bitter Melon
The video 客家釀涼瓜 (Hakka Stuffed Bitter Melon) uses a traditional Hakka meal, Hakka Stuffed
Bitter Melon, as an example to elaborate some of the concepts about food covered in Anthropology.
The symbolism of food, inheritance of food among the community, correlation between food and
identity, and the gender stereotypes in food preparation are to be included in the video and would be
discussed in this commentary.
Firstly, traditional food or eating practices are related to the building of self identities. According Tam
(2002), Yum Cha (飲茶) carries the symbolism of the spirits of Hong Kong people, which are tolerant,
diverse, adaptable and looking towards changesi. Drinking herbal tea (凉茶), according to Cheng
(2002), is a practice symbolizing Hong Kong people s affirmations towards Chinaii. Food usually
carries special meanings in a community, the Hakka Stuffed Bitter Melon included. As what is
mentioned in this video, in Hakka community, the dish introduced carries a meaning of bearing
hardships since the taste of bitter melon is bitter that many people do not enjoy eating. Hakka people
treat having the dish as a practice to become a patient and strong people. The dish becomes a reminder
for the Hakka community in their daily life, which helps building their personal identities as one of the
Hakka community.

Essay about Romanticism
Romanticism,
Romanticism, in a way, was a reaction against rigid Classicism, Rationalism, and Deism of the
eighteenth century. Strongest in application between 1800 and 1850, the Romantic Movement differed
from country to country and from romanticist to romanticist. Because it emphasized change it was an
atmosphere in which events occurred and came to affect not only the way humans thought and
expressed them, but also the way they lived socially and politically (Abrams, M.H. Pg. 13).
Romanticism emphasized the individual, the subjective, the irrational, the imaginative, the personal,
the spontaneous, the emotional, the visionary, and the transcendental, (Thompson, E.P. Pg. 108 109).

(Thompson, E.P. Pgs 33 34) The first phase of Romantic Movement was in Germany, which was
marked by the innovations in both content and literary style and by a preoccupation with the mystical,
the subconscious, and the supernatural. (Abrams, M.H. Pg.68) The most momentous national
movement was Germany s. The Germans rebelled not only against Napoleonic rule, but also against
the century old upper hand of French civilization. They rebelled not only against the French armies,
but also against the philosophy of the Age of Enlightenment. The years of the French Revolution and
Napoleon were, for Germany, the year of it greatest Cultural Efflorescence. (Abrams, M.H. Pg. 73)
Germany became the most romantic of all countries, and German influence spread throughout Europe.
In the nineteenth century, the Germans came to be widely regarded as intellectual leaders, like the
French had been a century before. Most of the German thought had come from nationalism in a broad
sense. A wealth of talents, including Friedrich Hölderlin, the early Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Jean
Paul, Novalis, Ludwig Tieck, A.W. and Friedrich Schlegel, Wilhelm Heinrich Wackenroder, and
Friedrich Schelling belong to this first phase. In Revolutionary France, the Vicomte de Chateabriande

Witness, By Australian Peter Weir
Introduction:
Witness is a film which explores the differences between the modern American and traditional Amish
communities. Directed by Australian Peter Weir, the film is set in 1985, in Pennsylvania, America.
Rachel Lapp and her young son, Samuel, leave the Amish community to travel to Baltimore to visit
Rachel s sister. Whilst waiting at the train station Samuel enters the bathroom where he witnesses a
murder of a police officer. This involves the appropriately named honest detective John Book, who
investigate the murder and does things by the book. Witness brings together two different worlds and
explores the effects. Witness also discusses organizational culture in its revelations of the Philadelphia
police force s entrenched corruption. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Amish community, Samuel found Book s gun in the shelf, Eli warns Samuel of the dangers of
the gun and how it is unwelcomed in Samuel s community. This powerful scene shows the loss of
innocence in Samuel and the peaceful beliefs of the Amish. This is compared to the scenario of the
story where the corruption and base of this thriller is because of drug deals within high officials of the
Philadelphia police station. The corruption from high officials is passed down to lower levels police
officers. The greed for money from these drug deals causes the imminent death of a police officer who
is supposedly is a part of the team. This represents how far the corruption can lead, all because of
greed for money.
Conclusion:
Witness is a deep film which explores many aspects of the modern world and compares it to the
prehistoric life style of the Amish. It highlights the important of socialism and represents how two

The Extinction, Endangerment, And Captivity Of Endangered...
Should we worry about the extinction, endangerment, and captivity of endangered species? That is the
pressing question that seems to bug all environmentalists and scientists are stressing over, how long
will it take for all of your animals to die out? And is it something we can stop or at least contain
meanwhile we are trying to find the long term solution for.
Can we prevent this from happening all together? Or is it far too late to save our species that are dying
out? We should worry about the extinction, endangerment and captivity of endangered species because
every animal is vital to their own ecosystems and keeps everything balanced.
Without balance, surely all of the ecosystems will collapse in on itself. What is a species? What
exactly is an endangered species? What is an extinct species? How have these species come to the
point of becoming endangered or extinct? What can we do to save the endangered species that are near
extinction? Can we actually do anything to save these species, or is it a lost cause? Why should I care?
Most people do not know the answer to many of those questions. As much attention as this subject
gets from environmental groups and agencies, it gets just as much ignoring by the general public.
Many people feel compelled to help or contribute; yet few seldom do carry out their intentions. This is
a very serious subject that needs to receive immediate and full attention from the general public. Only
they can truly make a difference. The concept

Do you know about the wallaby? The Wallaby is an animal that looks like a kangaroo. Though they
have many similarities with the kangaroo, they are slightly different from the kangaroo. Most common
way to distinguish the difference between the wallaby and kangaroo is their size. The Wallaby is much
smaller than the kangaroo. Their heights are about 30 to 180 and they weight about 20kg. They can
run up to 48kms per hour and live from 12 to 15 years. (Anonymous, no date) The Wallaby belongs in
Kingdom Animalia. (N, P, et al, 2015) Kingdom Animalia s animals are eukaryotic. This means the
cells have membrane around the nucleus. The Wallaby is also heterotrophic, so must eat something.
The Wallaby is a herbivore, so it eats plants or fruits. (No author, no date) The Wallaby is mobile, so it
can move freely. The Wallaby has many cells because it is multicellular and the cells have to live
together unlike colonial organisms. Wallabies do sexual reproduction, which means they need two

A muckraker, an investigative journalist that draws attention to problems, is not particularly what I

changed the American food industry for the better by exposing the meatpacking industry. The Jungle,
my first successful novel out of many failed ones, used Jurgis Rudkus, an immigrant from Lithuania
who got a job in meatpacking, to uncover the unfortunate truth of the industry. It all started when my

important the sea near my hometown was important to the locals. I hope I could implement my
knowledge in preserving the ecology of corals near my hometown as I realized how the jobs which
was important to my hometown, was detrimental to the corals there. This damage was also prominent
in the corals in Sabah which I visited during my last holiday. As much as it pains me to see these
ecosystems falls into disarray, I do realise how much the locals depended on these sites as their source

This effect trickle down to the woman in the village, whom all she had known to do all her life is to
combine many things together at the same time, like carrying a breastfeeding baby on her laps, using
one hand to blow the fire she created with woods which she is using to cook for her family, using the
other hand to stir the cassava flour on fire, and at the same time, weaving a basket at intervals. She has
it in mind to sell the basket in the market on the next market day. How pathetic it will be for her to go
through all that stress, and at the end of the day she loses the profits to a hooligan who was actually
turned a hooligan by the youth unemployment crisis. At the other extreme, a rich man in the city gets a
large amount of money from a contract and could not deposit it in the bank that day because the
money came late and banks had closed for the day. He prayerfully takes the money home to deposit it
first thing the following morning. That same night, Mr. Smart Guy comes with a team of others to rob
the rich man of his money. At the same time, in between the two extremes, lies the average civil
servant who stays at home one evening with his family watching a family programme on TV. The
entire neighbourhood was actually dark due to power outage. The family only had an exclusive
interest in the programme and managed to put on their generating set in order not to miss the program.
This was around 8.00pm.

opposite side when it comes to the healthy trend. A research has indicated that young millennials
would eat healthier if given appealing alternatives to current favorites such as chips and ice cream.
Using this research, Campbell Soup is specifically targeting Millennial moms with children between
the ages of 4 and 11 (Sosland, 2014). The company is making products, smoothies, fruit tubes, and
veggie snacks which are formulated with moms needs in mind. They are all fruit and veggie focused

added sugar, high fructose corn syrup. Also, non dairy options will be offered both within the

The Shawshank Redemption Essay
The Shawshank Redemption is a prison movie that is based on a book by Stephen King and directed
by Frank Darabont. The movie is not the average bloody horror movie; instead, it takes you to a place
where your worst nightmares come alive. The tremendous performance by Morgan Freeman and other
actors has truly brought this film to life. The emotions characters portrayed were so real that every one
could feel compassion toward them. The Shawshank Redemption, a contribution to the working man,
illustrates the dark side of the prison and the power of hope within that helps a prisoner to survive.

The setting is dark and foreboding and creates the atmosphere of the last place one would ever want to
spend their life. The convicts have to tolerate other prisoners and guards who are brutal and ruthless (
Morgan Freeman Stars 58). The Shawshank prison is a hell full of sinners (Alleva 16).
To the prisoners, prison is like a whole different world. After learning to deal with imprisonment, the
prisoners then have a hard time dealing with the outside world. Another horror about prison life is the
psychological disorder of being behind bars for so long prevents prisoners from being able to survive
in the real world ( Morgan Freeman Stars 58). One of the characters, played by James Whitmore,
commits suicide because it is difficult for him to adjust to the outside world. Red, another prisoner,
does the same thing when he is on parole (Alleva 16). Red states that in [prison] he s an important
man where outside he is nothing but a con [who] probably couldn t get a library card if he tried (qtd in
Armstrong 81). Before Red and James hang themselves, they do something with the knife in their
hands. To keep the suspense alive, Darabont does not reveal their actions until after the suicides take
place. The shot of the scene endorses one of Andy s ideologies: get busy living or get busy dying (qtd
in Avella 18). The use of camera, angle shots, and knowing when to use them appropriately are the
aspects that keep the viewers on their tiptoes. That is

Proof And The Burden Of Proof
The general definition of burden of proof is a duty imposed upon a civil or criminal defendant to
prove or disprove a disputed fact. There is more than one type of burden known to the law, a burden of
proof and the burden of adducing evidence. The burden of proof is also known as or referred to the
legal burden. Different terminology is sometimes used that emphasizes different characteristics of the
burden; the most common alternatives are the persuasive burden , the probative burden , the risk of
non persuasion and the fixed burden of proof . Legal burdens are allocated by rules of law and are
fixed at the beginning of the case. They do not shift during the course of a trial. The burden of
adducing evidence is also known as evidential burden. This refers to the obligation to adduce
sufficient evidence to raise an issue for the court to consider. Unlike a legal burden, an evidential
burden is merely an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Professor Ian Dennis quoted Roberts and Zuckerman s description of the presumption being a
standard, which helps to avoid wrongful convictions. It can also be said, presumption of innocence
serves as a protective tool against the risk of miscarriages of justice. This is because the main rationale
behind the presumption of innocence dictates, the outcome of wrongful conviction is regarded as a
significantly worse harm than wrongful acquittal . This is apparent, especially in cases that have a
broad offence that would be almost impossible for the accused to disprove. This can be seen in the
case of AG s Reference (No.4 of 2002) . Lord Bingham warned of the risk and the effect of unfair
conviction and stressed that it might be too impossible for the accused to prove that he had not taken
part in the illegal activities as required in S.11 (2) of the Terrorism Act 2000

Informative Essay On Shark Killer
Have you ever been scared of a shark? If you have, you really shouldn t be. While many of us have
learned to fear sharks, they re the ones who should fear us. People are a shark s BIGGEST predator. In
fact, humans kill 73 million sharks per year. In what you are about to read I will give you an insight
into the information of sharks ranging from how they are tracked to how they help us.
Marine biologists use many different research methods in order to study sharks. But the most common
one is tagging. Tags are an important tool used to study the behavior of sharks. Tagging sharks
provides data ranging from movement to how deep a shark dives. Tags can last for a shark s entire life
or can be recovered after a specific amount of time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to overexploitation and lack of proper management, many shark species are under considerable
risk of unrecoverable decline with some species having declined to near extinction in recent years.
According to reports, sharks are being killed at an alarming rate of up to 273 million worldwide per
year. Some experts predict that if the killing continues at the current rate many species will be lost
forever with potentially devastating implications for our ocean ecosystems. If shark population is
threatened, it could take a very long time to recover. Sharks are a keystone species which means they
are at the top of the food chain and are an apex predator. Removing them could make the whole
structure collapse. Sharks regulate the behavior of prey species, and prevent them from over grazing
vital habitats. Some shark researchers believe that the intimidation factor caused by sharks may
actually have more of an impact on the ecosystem than what sharks actually eat. For example,
scientists in Hawaii found that tiger sharks had a positive impact on the health of sea grass beds.
Turtles, which are the tiger sharks prey, graze on sea grass. In the absence of tiger sharks, the turtles
spent all of their time grazing on the best quality, most nutritious sea grass, and these habitats were
soon destroyed. When tiger sharks

I Heard A Fly Buzz-When I Died
Emily Dickinson was fascinated by death and immortality; in her poem I Heard a Fly Buzz When I
Died she reveals her insight on a shared but unknown experience. A speaker, who is describing his or
her death from beyond the grave, narrates the poem, which can be interpreted with either heavily
Christian in its symbolism, or as the literal description of the dying experience. Dickinson uses the
poetry elements of symbolism, imagery and point of view to give us an ironic poem, about dying and
the afterlife, which leaves the reader unsure of what s on the other side of death. There is a
disagreement in the literary world over the meaning of the fly, its symbolism and relationship to the
speaker in the poem (Ruby 139). Dickinson might have used the fly in order to showcase that the
dying speaker was still aware of the physical world but his or her senses were fading as the body
surrenders to death With Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz (Line 13). The fly could also have been used
as an ironic symbol of death, decay, and human mortality. Since the fly is a creature that feeds and lays
its eggs in dead flesh. Some critics think that the fly has a more sinister and dark meaning. They
believe that the fly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fail as the soul drifts off into spiritual nothingness since the King failed to appear and the speaker s

demon Beelzebub, the windows fail as the soul is dragged to the pits of hell (Hochman Para 3). In a
literal sense, the windows failing represent the speaker s sense of sight fading, as the speaker closes
his or her eyes for the last time and surrenders to the onset of death as shown in the last line of the

Examples Of Participant Observation
Participant Observation The place that I chose to observe, was my daughter s karate practice.
Normally I am not the one that brings her, but for the sake of this assignment I attended the two hour
practice. The primary focus of study was; the physical setting, people and the patterns. Over the
course of two hours, the topic of participant observation started to come out and detaching myself to a
neutral point of view helped in providing a clearer picture. Here are the observations that I made
during karate practice. Sitting in a row of chairs the first observation I made portended to the physical
settings. The building was a large room with lots of open areas with mirrors surrounding mats. These
mirrors allowed the kids and instructors to observe each other anywhere in the room. The adult seating
area was separated by a low wall to still allow viewing, but adds a physical barrier to keep the kid
from running to their parents whenever they wanted. There was a water fountain next to ... Show more

women that used the time as their kids trained to socialize in small groups. This was interesting
because they only conversed with the people of the group. They hardly even acknowledged the other
small groups of women. The few men that did attend sat by themselves and only focused on the
children training. As the training began it follows a set guidelines of stretching, warm ups, then the
training of the day. During the two block of training the thing that stood out about patterns is the small
groups of women made up by social class. Out of all the groups the wealthy women stayed to together
and the lower income women stayed in their

The Complexity Of George And Minnie, By John Steinbeck
George and Lennie had an unheard of relationship throughout the novella. They were the exception to
the overall theme of loneliness that each of the other characters felt in some way.
Both characters were extremely loyal to each other , however the significance of Lennies actions
meant that George had no choice but to kill Lennie
Slim s character was highly valued in the novella, and the influence of his opinion is demonstrated in
many cases especially in the final section when helping the reader understand how George had no
choice but to kill lennie.
The reader is able to notice that his voice is the voice of rationalism throughout the book and that the
ranch workers are aware of this.
In instances such as the shooting of Candy s dog, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of this is when He crushes Curly s hand his fist lost in Lennies paw the reader can
understand that the lack of control over his strength and handling of a situation that came to the killing
of a person, meant that George had no choice but to kill Lennie.
Despite Lennie s limitations and lack of relations to other characters, it is obvious to the reader how
highly he values Georges opinion and trusts George to never to leave him.
When he kills the puppy he says maybe George won t care Now maybe George won t let me tend no
rabbits he expresses worry, which translates to show his yearning for Georges approval and is
relatable, allowing the reader to form an empathetic view on him.
This puts emphasis on how dependent he was on George.
When Curly fights with Lennie he only defends himself when George tells him to get him he can then
only stop when George says Leggo his hand Lennie. Leggo . He does not posses the ability to have
any control in the situation. When Curlys wife starts struggling, he is incapable of dealing with it and
kills her instead.
Even when he is unaware of Crookes playing with him demonstrates the inability of thinking for
himself. George wasn t able to save Lennie and with his lack of dependence meant that letting him
escape, left him not only a threat but also vulnerable to those seeking power.
Curly was an aggressive man who seeking vengeance on Lennie. Lennie

Medical Marijuana Research Papers
Working With What They Know Many things that were thought to be dangerous in the past are now
things that are seen or used everyday. One of these things was tomatoes. Tomatoes were once thought
to be very deadly. People avoided them at all cost because they thought these fruits could kill you.
These people believed that tomatoes were poisonous for many years. After eliminating tomatoes from
their diets, it was observed that people were still being killed by what people thought they were not
ingesting. After this conclusion, people decided to investigate these common plants further. It was
discovered that the tomato itself was not poisonous, but the cutlery that was used by the people was.

Many of the arguments that are opposed to medical marijuana consist of ill advised comments that
have not been properly researched. One objection is that tetrahydrocannabinol, a chemical found in
marijuana, is the chemical that makes people high . It is true that this chemical has some unwanted
side effects, however, cannabidiol does not (Abuse). With the research people have done, cannabidiol
is even known to do more than tetrahydrocannabinol can. Another concern that has been brought to
light is that certain patients undergoing medical marijuana treatments could have dealt with an
addiction problem in the past and therefore take advantage of the medication given to them. To
counter this argument, most of the hospitals in the states that have approved medical marijuana as a
reliable treatment, issue patient identification to each patient (Marijuana). Medical Marijuana may
also be used to treat patients that struggle with former addictions. Many people also argue that there
are many other different treatments for pain, nausea, and vomiting. This is true, however, with the
proper research, marijuana could be used as a potential cure for cancer as well

The Importance Of Body Temperature And Thermoregulation
The human body is capable of many checks and balances throughout the numerous systems. From
fluid and electrolytes, perfusion, to skin integrity the body can auto regulate and maintain balance,
while assisting thermoregulation of the body. Thermoregulation is controlled by the hypothalamus,
which is considered the thermostat center of the body (Giddens 88).
The normal body temperature is 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Any influence of extreme
environmental conditions, intense exercise, disease or infection that allow the body temperature to
waver from the normal core temperature can affect thermoregulation. Hypothermia occurs when the
body temperature decreases below 97 degrees, hyperthermia is when body temperature is in excess of
100 degrees. The ideal goal for all ages would be normothermia, which is the normal range of 97 to
100 degrees Fahrenheit.
By teaching the older that their decreased ability of regulating their body temperature will affect their
thermoregulation. By educating them of their inability to sweat efficiently, declined circulation, and a
decreased vasoconstrictive response to shivering, and slower metabolic rate all hinder their
thermoregulation. Teaching would consist of adjusting clothing and attire according to the outside
temperature, or if they stay indoors to set their indoor thermometer to 72 degrees. If they do not have
air conditioning to keep windows open and a fan blowing. Dress in layers in colder temperatures and
to keep their head

What Is The Similarities Between Andy Warhol And Pop Art
Andy Warhol was definitely well known for his works of art during the pop art movement. Pop Art
consisted of bold, glamorous and flashy pieces that were massed produced to appeal to all audiences. I
want to talk about two of Warhol s famous pop art pieces, one is the Campbell s soup cans and the
other is going to be his silk screening art of Marilyn Monroe. I want to compare these art works in
relation to the pop art area in the 1960s. I also want to talk about how Warhol created these
masterpieces using curtain techniques. He clearly made memorable artwork that is recognized all over
the world today.
Looking at one of the most famous artworks Andy Warhol made in his time was the collection of the
Campbell s soup cans. Looking at this painting I just thought, why did he paint something so ordinary
that consumers see every day in the grocery store? During this time when Warhol created this art, the
industrial market was booming. The Khan Academy mentioned this in their video and said they
thought Warhol wanted people to look at these ordinary soup cans in a different perspective, look at it
in a more simpler meaning (Zucker and Khan). This probably took people by surprise to get an art
piece that was so simply but had this strong idea that people should look at this thriving industry we
have in our culture today. The Khan Academy also mentions that Warhol was big on factories and he
noticed that big factories and industries were the foundation of society today not nature

Portfolio Assignment ITS 315: Introduction to Networks Mazen Alkhatib December 23, 2012
Network Implementation Over four months, a very short period of time, a small accounting firm grew
from five employees to fifty. The existing network architecture could no longer support the
exponential growth. Peer to Peer networks work very well in a small office environment. Once the
ratio of employees exceeds around five employees resources, file storage and a plethora of other
network disasters begin. The obvious solution was to recommend a change. As explained in the
proposal the proposed upgrade from a peer to peer network architecture to client/server was an
imminent necessity. Cable Recommendation The accounting firm ... Show more content on

Our intention is to do the aforementioned in a manner that will allow us to manage all of the files and
resources from a central location by implementing a server to our current network architecture.
Reasons to Change. In the past our peer to peer network architecture served us well by providing us
with a way to share our files and resources in a manner that did not require much planning.
Unfortunately, as a peer to peer network grows it becomes more difficult to maintain due to its lack of
centralized control which makes it un scalable. With the addition of fifty individual workstations,
security access and file storage control remains in the hands of the user. For example, should someone
decide to delete a company file, there would be no way of knowing. Once there are more than five or
six workstations attached peer to peer networks begin to pose as a security threat that may cause loss
of sensitive company data due to virus and spyware attacks. Fortunately advancements in technology
have provided a viable solution for rapidly growing small businesses such as our own called servers.
Our Viable Solution. Adding a server to our current network will allow our employees to manage,
store, send and process data from a centralized location 24 hours a day. In

One of the largest issues facing American Indian s today One of the largest issues facing American Indian s today One of the largest issues facing the American Indian s today is that health care. As tribes and urban Indian health centers struggle along with the rest of the country to address the growing numbers of Elders in their communities. There are key issues and special considerations that must be addressed to ensure American Indian Elders are not forgotten in any proposed reform or redesign proposals that the newly formed Medicaid Commission or Congress put forth. By 2030, it is estimated there will be 430,000 American Indian and Alaska Native Elders, constituting 12.2% of the American Indian population (Day, 1993). While the ... Only 66 percent of eligible Indians are accessing Social Security, a rate far lower than the national average of 88 percent. As the diabetes epidemic continues in Indian Country, elders are affected by the disease and its complications more severely than any other age group. More than two of every five Native elders have diabetes and in some communities, more than half of our elders are afflicted. As they live longer, elders are also living with the complications and disabilities caused by the disease. We need more help from you in educating them about how to prevent the disease . . . or how to live with it. Nowhere are the disparities in minority health care so great . . . nowhere is the mandate to the federal government so compelling as with the well being of Indian elders (Baldridge, 2002). Graph 1 Data Compiled from Baldridge and the United States Census Bureau Congress dedicated its commitment to urban Indians in the Indian Health Care Improvement Act where it provided: that it is the policy of this Nation, in fulfillment of its special responsibility and legal obligation to the American Indian people, to meet the national goal of providing the highest possible health status to Indians and urban Indians and to provide all resources necessary to effect that policy ( 25 U.S.C. 18 § 1602, 2005) In so doing, Congress has expressed a policy encompassing a broad spectrum of American Indian ... • 3. Super Ego Research Paper Egos Our ID ego is our wants and needs. If these needs and wants are not met we become a very tense person. We get very anxious and upset because out wants and needs have not been met. There are many things that can explain this. For example when people are hungry and in a line for food, they could not be getting there wants and needs right away because they want that food now and cannot wait another second for it. So instead of waiting to get to their table, they start stuffing their face right away while they are in the line of food. On the other hand, when this really happens, most people have respect and realize that everyone has their wants and needs in their life. So with respect they deal with these things just as well as others do. For the person in a food line that is hungry can deal with this. They could be at a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The super ego is about morals and judgement. It is about right and wrong, and our choice we make because of what we think. The super ego is why we make certain decisions about certain things. For example we know we can steal things from work, the store, friends and many other places and things. With our super ego we know that stealing is wrong and so we then make the choice and choose not to steal. Defense mechanisms help get rid of unwanted feelings that we tend to get. They also make good things feel better for a person. If your egos are too weak, you then tend to break with anxiety because it becomes too much for you. There are many examples of defense mechanisms. There is denial. People who smoke tend to have this a lot. They will not admit to themselves that smoking is bad for them and their health, they are in denial about it. When something is too much to handle they will deny it. There is also repression. This is where you keep your threatening thought from being conscious. We get very large amounts of guilt from theses so we use our ego defense to fight them off. There are many different defense mechanisms that we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Four Branches Of Proteomics Proteomics has four branches that include sequence and structural proteomics, expression proteomics, interaction proteomics and functional proteomics. Provide one example for each branch and describe them briefly. The analysis of a complete set of proteins (proteome) of a given cell or organism can be defined as proteomics (Phillips Bogyo, 2005). The primary aim of proteomic analysis is to separate, identify and characterize proteins and understand their interactions with other proteins. There are four branches of proteomics which are sequence and structural proteomics, expression proteomics, interaction proteomics and functional proteomics. Sequence and structural proteomics According to Christendat et al. (2000), the approach of determining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Berggard et al. (2007), human genomes consist of 20 000 30 000 genes coding for over 500 000 different proteins of which more than 10 000 proteins can be produced by the cell at any given time. These protein protein interactions are regulated by several mechanisms. To detect protein interactions on a large scale, the methods need to be suitable and have to meet several criteria. One of the technologies used here is the yeast two hybrid system. According to Auerbach et al. (n.d.), the yeast two hybrid system is a genetic system where an interaction between a known bait protein and its partner expressed from a library can be detected by reconstitution of a transcription factor and concurrent activation of a set of reporter genes. Furthermore, this system is well suited to high throughput applications that desire automatization. This approaches have used two complementary approaches which are the so called matrix approach and the library screening approach in order to screen large sets of proteins. In addition, this system offers a number of advantages over many of the biochemical procedures often used to analyze the protein protein interactions (Causier Davies, 2002). Since it avoids costly procedures such as antibody production and protein purification thus yeast two hybrid technology is relatively inexpensive. It is easy to screen the cDNA expression libraries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, Hamlet, And Henry V The Renaissance was a time in which mankind was rediscovering itself. For ages, men were simply trying to exist, survive more than anything else. The Renaissance was a period in which men no longer had to just get by everyday, but could begin exploring morality. No other Renaissance author characterizes this more than William Shakespeare in the early 1600s. His plays highlight the internal moral struggle that every man goes through, the concept of what is right and what is wrong in a world that is full of gray areas. More specifically he deals with the concept of honor and morality in several of his plays. Julius Caesar, Hamlet, and Henry V, to a lesser extent, deal with how men handle these and can reconcile otherwise heinous acts. Now, being well aware that Shakespeare does not account for all the Renaissance writers, however his are the most prevalent still today and it can be argued that Shakespeare did not work alone. For the sake of organization, it is far easier to tackle these literary works in chronological order and analyze the individual pieces first and then view them all as one whole. Henry V The earliest of Shakespeare s plays was Henry V written in 1599. As a whole the play is mostly just a retelling of the battle of Agincourt in the year 1415, featuring the now very famous, St. Crispin s Day speech. However Shakespeare manages to capture the intensity and pure chaos of war while also having a solid undertone about the morality of men and sending a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. What Are Horace Mann s Principles Of Education Horace Mann, who is also known as the Father of American Public Education, is best known for his determination in reforming the public schooling system of the United States of America in the early 1800s. Horace Mann was born on May 4, 1796 in Franklin, Massachusetts to his parents, Thomas Mann and Rebecca Stanley Mann. Growing up in poverty, Horace Mann learned to be self reliant from an early age. Although Horace, himself, did not have a proper education from the ages of 10 to 20, he self studied at his local library. At the age of 20, Mann enrolled himself into Brown University and graduated as the top of his class in 1819. During 1822 23, he studied law at Litchfield Law School. In 1827, Mann was elected to the Massachusetts legislature and served until 1833. In 1835, Mann was elected to the Massachusetts State Senate and was its president from 1836 to 1837. His first statement was that the public should not remain ignorant for long. The second statement was that the public should take interest in paying for and maintaining education. The third statement was that the best education can be provided in schools that welcome children from different social classes, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. The fourth statement was that education should be free from sectarian influence. The fifth statement was that tenets of a free society should prevail while separating from education. Finally, the last statement is that education should be provided by well trained, professional teachers. Many of social and political groups did not agree with Mann s beliefs. • 7. Analysis Of Robert Hayden s Those Winter Sundays Showing love and gratitude goes a long way in strengthening relationships and makes us better understands the sacrifices others make on our behalf. In those winter Sundays, Robert Hayden stated a lot with very few words. This was possible due to brilliant use of imagery, metaphor and sound. His striking words invoke thoughts in the mind of the reader of this dedicated father, up alone exposed to the harsh elements who works hard each day to make his family comfortable, however they don t value his acts of good will, nor did they give him any credit. In many cases, we glance back at one point in our lives with lament. We feel that had it been, what we currently know, we knew back then we would have made different choices, things would ... Using the word too suggests that the father rises early consistently, regardless of what day it is. He dresses in the severe cold. His hands have cracks because of the cold weather and the grueling work that he does each day. When his dad turns on the chimneys and stoves, to make the house warm for his loved ones. His striking words make me invoke thoughts in my mind of this persevering dad up alone wide open to the harsh elements. When he noted his dads, hands were cracked, and that they ached it was a great use of imagery. This was used to portray how hard working he was, as well as a symbol for all the agony and inconvenience he was willing to bear for his family. Hayden depicted sounds and in addition pictures in the same elucidating way when he wrote I awoke and heard the cold splintering, breaking. Possibly, what Hayden heard was cracking noises that came from the fire or ice softening off the windows. In any case, this decision of imagery is utilized to show the devotion of his dad. He was willing to go out in the cold to break the ice of the windows for those he cared about. • 8. Summary Of Charlotte Perkins Stetson s The Yellow Wallpaper In the year 1892, Charlotte Perkins Stetson wrote a short story called The Yellow Wallpaper. During the time Stetson wrote the story, some women were suffering from depression or extreme cases of nervousness. These women would see a neurologist or a psychiatrist who would prescribe them with the rest cure. The rest cure was a regimen of forced bed rest, restricted diet, and a combination of massage and electrical muscle stimulation in place of exercise. (Harris) Stetson herself suffered from depression. She received help from the famous neurologist S. That is the pressing question that seems to bug all environmentalists and scientists are stressing over, how long will it take for all of your animals to die out? And is it something we can stop or at least contain meanwhile we are trying to find the long term solution for. Can we prevent this from happening all together? Or is it far too late to save our species that are dying out? We should worry about the extinction, endangerment and captivity of endangered species because every animal is vital to their own ecosystems and keeps everything balanced. How have these species come to the point of becoming endangered or extinct? What can we do to save the endangered species that are near extinction? Can we actually do anything to save these species, or is it a lost cause? Why should I care? Most people do not know the answer to many of those questions. As much attention as this subject gets from environmental groups and agencies, it gets just as much ignoring by the general public. One of these things was tomatoes. Tomatoes were once thought to be very deadly. People avoided them at all cost because they thought these fruits could kill you. These people believed that tomatoes were poisonous for many years. After eliminating tomatoes from their diets, it was observed that people were still being killed by what people thought they were not ingesting. After this conclusion, people decided to investigate these common plants further. It was discovered that the tomato itself was not poisonous, but the cutlery that was used by the people was. Many of the arguments that are opposed to medical marijuana consist of ill advised comments that have not been properly researched. One objection is that tetrahydrocannabinol, a chemical found in marijuana, is the chemical that makes people high . It is true that this chemical has some unwanted side effects, however, cannabidiol does not (Abuse). With the research people have done, cannabidiol is even known to do more than tetrahydrocannabinol can. Another concern that has been brought to light is that certain patients undergoing medical marijuana treatments could have dealt with an addiction problem in the past and therefore take advantage of the medication given to them. To counter this argument, most of the hospitals in the states that have approved medical marijuana as a reliable treatment, issue patient identification to each patient (Marijuana). Medical Marijuana may also be used to treat patients that struggle with former addictions. Many people also argue that there are many other different treatments for pain, nausea, and vomiting. This is true, however, with the proper research, marijuana could be used as a potential cure for cancer as well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Importance Of Body Temperature And Thermoregulation The human body is capable of many checks and balances throughout the numerous systems. From fluid and electrolytes, perfusion, to skin integrity the body can auto regulate and maintain balance, while assisting thermoregulation of the body. Thermoregulation is controlled by the hypothalamus, which is considered the thermostat center of the body (Giddens 88). The normal body temperature is 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Any influence of extreme environmental conditions, intense exercise, disease or infection that allow the body temperature to waver from the normal core temperature can affect thermoregulation. Hypothermia occurs when the body temperature decreases below 97 degrees, hyperthermia is when body temperature is in excess of 100 degrees. The ideal goal for all ages would be normothermia, which is the normal range of 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. By teaching the older that their decreased ability of regulating their body temperature will affect their thermoregulation. By educating them of their inability to sweat efficiently, declined circulation, and a decreased vasoconstrictive response to shivering, and slower metabolic rate all hinder their thermoregulation. Teaching would consist of adjusting clothing and attire according to the outside temperature, or if they stay indoors to set their indoor thermometer to 72 degrees. If they do not have air conditioning to keep windows open and a fan blowing. Dress in layers in colder temperatures and to keep their head ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. What Is The Similarities Between Andy Warhol And Pop Art Andy Warhol was definitely well known for his works of art during the pop art movement. Pop Art consisted of bold, glamorous and flashy pieces that were massed produced to appeal to all audiences. I want to talk about two of Warhol s famous pop art pieces, one is the Campbell s soup cans and the other is going to be his silk screening art of Marilyn Monroe. I want to compare these art works in relation to the pop art area in the 1960s. I also want to talk about how Warhol created these masterpieces using curtain techniques. He clearly made memorable artwork that is recognized all over the world today. Looking at one of the most famous artworks Andy Warhol made in his time was the collection of the Campbell s soup cans. Looking at this painting I just thought, why did he paint something so ordinary that consumers see every day in the grocery store? During this time when Warhol created this art, the industrial market was booming. The Khan Academy mentioned this in their video and said they thought Warhol wanted people to look at these ordinary soup cans in a different perspective, look at it in a more simpler meaning (Zucker and Khan). This probably took people by surprise to get an art piece that was so simply but had this strong idea that people should look at this thriving industry we have in our culture today. The Khan Academy also mentions that Warhol was big on factories and he noticed that big factories and industries were the foundation of society today not nature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. It 315 Unit 3 Assignment Portfolio Assignment ITS 315: Introduction to Networks Mazen Alkhatib December 23, 2012 Network Implementation Over four months, a very short period of time, a small accounting firm grew from five employees to fifty. The existing network architecture could no longer support the exponential growth. Peer to Peer networks work very well in a small office environment. Once the ratio of employees exceeds around five employees resources, file storage and a plethora of other network disasters begin. The obvious solution was to recommend a change. As explained in the proposal the proposed upgrade from a peer to peer network architecture to client/server was an imminent necessity. Cable Recommendation The accounting firm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our intention is to do the aforementioned in a manner that will allow us to manage all of the files and resources from a central location by implementing a server to our current network architecture. Reasons to Change. In the past our peer to peer network architecture served us well by providing us with a way to share our files and resources in a manner that did not require much planning. Unfortunately, as a peer to peer network grows it becomes more difficult to maintain due to its lack of centralized control which makes it un scalable. With the addition of fifty individual workstations, security access and file storage control remains in the hands of the user. For example, should someone decide to delete a company file, there would be no way of knowing. Once there are more than five or six workstations attached peer to peer networks begin to pose as a security threat that may cause loss of sensitive company data due to virus and spyware attacks. Fortunately advancements in technology have provided a viable solution for rapidly growing small businesses such as our own called servers. Our Viable Solution. Adding a server to our current network will allow our employees to manage, store, send and process data from a centralized location 24 hours a day. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
