Luther Standing Bear Analysis
My First Buffalo, by Luther Standing Bear, may be one of the more terse stories in the anthology,
Native American Autobiography, but it by no means lacks wisdom. When reading the captivating
story, I was struck by the amount of life lessons that could be pulled out of one single experience in
Luther Standing Bear s childhood. On the surface, My Buffalo seems to be a simple coming of age
story, however once properly analyzed, you can find a story that teaches you to listen and respect
those wiser than yourself, to honor the art of hunting and to only speak the truth.
The first lesson I caught onto fairly quickly was to value and listen to you elders. Before his first
Buffalo hunting endeavour, Luther Standing Bear s father gives him some wise words of advice. He
stresses the importance of staying observant, saying, Whatever you do, watch the buffalo closely
(Krupat 301) and warns Luther Standing Bear to keep his eyes open when he passes through dust. He
also urges Luther Standing Bear to hunt with precision and patience. While this advice may seem
obvious and easy to follow, Luther Standing Bear has trouble putting such information into action at
first. When chasing the buffalo, he gets disoriented in the dust and starts to panic. Luther Standing
Bear states, I then realized how helpless I was there in all that dust and confusion. The sound of their
hoofs was frightening (Krupat 303). This moment of panic shows how essential Luther Standing Bear
s father s advice was

Morrissey Accomplishments
For my epic hero I chose Morrissey. He was the lead singer of the band The Smiths and has since
moved on to record over ten solo albums. He also has earned a name in the animal rights movement
and is a huge encourager for vegetarian eating. This is one of the things I consider to be his great
accomplishments. He uses his platform to show the inhumanity that occurs at slaughterhouses and has
partnered up with animal right groups, campaigning for spaying and neutering animals. This theme is
also prominent in his music where he sings of the brutality of bullfighting in The Bullfighter Dies .
Another one of his great accomplishments is his music. He has created a lot of meaningful songs and
many successful hits.Although I see his strong views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of his opinions about these subjects are expressed through his music as he once wrote a song
about the death of a Britain minister he had disagreements with. Morrissey has had to deal with many
different monsters in his life. He has dealt with cancer in his esophagus which he says he has learn to
handle, saying he is currently Blooming . He has also dealt with depression since the age of seventeen.
This apparently has been more difficult for him. He is still dealing with it and says it s like a Black
dog that never goes away. Morrissey can be described as larger than life. He has done interviews with
Larry King and has sold out multiple concerts. He once again has created over ten successful
album, had a well known band and created many great songs. NME considered him to be one of the
most influential artists ever. Morrissey is very determined which is something many find as a desirable
trait. He started his music career with two small unsuccessful bands called the Nosebleeds and

How Important Is Having A Clear Process
How important is having a clear process in regards to informing a design outcome?
Setting up progressive goals and rules helps a designer in making everything more clearly and
efficiently, so as to achieve the anticipated and satisfactory design outcome. What designers need to do
is to first provide a rudimentary design map, covering different small processes, explaining what are
their specific operations as well as their importance in contributing to the final outcome. Secondly,
designers need to follow these preset processes, assuring each step is correctly followed. But on top of
that, they could definitely add in some spontaneous and creative personal ideas during the
implementation of the plan, which will hopefully make the project more like their own s, other than a
robotic, emotionless work.
In the first place, having a clear process enables designers to understand the concepts in greater depth.
This could later facilitate and guide the development and implementation of design projects. To
comprehend the topics, designers need to define the meanings of the topics, outline related fields and
think about the project purposes.
Our group was assigned to the topic boundaries (Bruce studio), which required us to determine and
understand the criteria in deciding whether an area is bound or unbound . To start with, we viewed
boundary as the line between the space we live inside and outside. We developed a model and used
light to illuminate the model in order to

Annotation Of Sappho s Fragment 16
The Greeks produced some of the greatest literature in the Archaic Age; stories were dauntless,
delightful, and passionate whilst sustaining a worldly and rich composition. Poetry became one of the
arts that grew favorable to the citizens of Greece due to the mellow melody of the art while preserving
the significant principles and values of their culture. The poem Fragment 16, written by the illustrious
poet of the Archaic Age ca. 600 BCE, Sappho, expresses the admiration of Anactoria and her
commendable beauty. This poem, translated by Jim Powell, is an example of one of Sappho s
renowned lyric poetry, demonstrating the intricate practice of love and passion. Lyric poetry is the art
of expressing the poet s private emotions and affairs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Archaic Age, beauty is sought by the citizens of Greece all throughout the various forms of
artistic expression. For example, Greek sculptures before the Archaic Age were widely influenced by
the mesopotamians and egyptians, with rigid postures and ceremonious gestures. However, in the
Archaic Age, we see a little more change throughout the art of sculpting in Greece. Greek sculptors
began incorporating lively, athletic, and healthy attributes to the work of art, such as the Anavysos
Kouros, (page 52) a Greek korari sculpture based by the Archaic Age. Health and beauty in art was
commenced in the Hellenic Era, almost as much as the religious aspect of the art. In addition,
Architecture grew of the idea of beauty and beautiful buildings. Greek temples became very intricate
with design and beautifully delicate with aesthetic ethics incorporated into their fundamental
principles. Developments such as the post beam triangle construction, pediments, cornice, and
stylobate was implemented to integrate beauty into their architecture. An example of this art would be
the Temple of Aphaia, (page 49) Aegina, created in 510

Descriptive Essay On Summer And Winter
It s four o clock on a rainy, autumn, Monday afternoon. I ve chosen my location to be my room in my
apartment at 2224 Blowing Rock Rd. The window is always left open due to my admiration for the
regular sounds that occur outside my building. This location makes me feel comfortable, calm, and
upbeat. Not only did I specifically pick out the place and time for this assignment I really aimed to
write this while the weather was accenting autumn, wet and windy. Nothing is more relaxing than a
nice cup of coffee in the comforts of your own bed while the wind and rain serenade you. The whole
season of fall makes me feel warm and content. Thoreau wrote The indescribable innocence and
beneficence of Nature, of the sun and wind and rain, of summer and winter, such health, such cheer,
they afford forever! And such sympathy have they ever with our race, that all nature would be
affected, and the suns brightness fade, and the winds would sigh humanely, and the clouds rain tears,
and the woods shed their leaves and put on mourning in midsummer, if any man should ever for just a
cause grieve (Solitude, 110). Within the room itself, I can hear a few distinct sounds around me. A
faint melody of jazz can be heard on a radio in the corner. Music helps me focus on whatever work I
have for the night. Although I have turned the radio down in order to hear other sounds for this
assignment, I can still hear small claps of a beat and an upbeat squeak of some kind of horn. Attached
to my curtains are a string of old bells. The wind is picking up today and every time it blows a small
gust through my window the curtain moves and the bells dance along it. They sound like tiny cow
bells. The wind has also picked a fight with a small candle on one of my tables. I can hear the flickers
of the flame trying to stay lit as well as it possibly can. And of course, the most apparent sound in the
room is the tapping and clicking of my laptop keys as I write this. Outside of my window, there are
several different layers of sound all unique to each other. The first layer come from the immediate
parking lot in front and the whole apartment complex itself. I can hear bustling neighbors all around;
faint laughs, doors shutting, cars

Pharmacy Practice Experience At Walgreens Pharmacy Essay
I completed my second Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience at Walgreens Pharmacy in
Tallahassee, FL. Over the course of three weeks, I worked under the supervision of Aisha Wilder,
PharmD, R.Ph. I also worked alongside two pharmacy technicians and one pharmacy intern.
Walgreens was founded in 1901 by Charles R. Walgreens Sr. in Chicago, Illinois. The company has
expanded to almost 8,000 stores nationwide. Walgreens goal was to provide superb customer service,
innovative merchandise and displays, provide merchandise and goods that the customers desired and
could afford, and to provide genuine value to the customers. Walgreens want to champion everyone s
right to be happy and healthy. There were three pharmacists employed at my site. I had the
opportunity to work with Dr.Wilder and Dr. Phuong. There was a senior technician by the name of
Santia who has been working at this location for eleven years. This pharmacy catered to the local
community. Some customers that came into this particular pharmacy were college students, middle
aged individuals, and elderly patients. I interacted with college students and elderly patients. Some
prescriptions that were often filled included medications for hypertension, oral contraceptives, and
controls. I performed many activities while working at this pharmacy. I filled prescriptions. I also
assisted in serving customers that came in the drive thru. I checked the voicemails and recorded new

Tap Dance Vs Musical Theatre
There are a few similarities between the genres of tap, jazz and musical theatre. All three genres
influences each other but are clearly completely different. They all can be seen on theatrical stage and
in movies. Tap (1989), Center Stage (2000) and All That Jazz (1979) are good examples of musical
movies. Savion Glover performance at ABFF 2014, Sing! Sing! Sing! (1 of 2) Fosse and Oklahoma
Dream Sequence were all done on stage. Jazz and Tap dance have a strong syncopated rhythms whiles
musical theatre does not. There is usually a storyline in Musical theatre compared to Jazz Dance or
Tap Dance. Both Jazz and Tap dance are improvisational unlike Musical theatre. Sounds are produced
in Tap dance by moving the feet. Both Musical theatre and Tap Dance are linked to Jazz.
I do not remember if I have ever seen a live musical theatre production but I have seen a lot of them in
movies though. To name a few, I have seen The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver and
Mamma Mia. But my favorite of all will be the Fiddler on the Roof movie of 1971. In the scene where
he sung to life and the bottle dance competition, you could see a mixture of ballet and tap dance in
their performance. They jumped, did pique and pirouette turns a few times. Below is a link to the

The dance evolved from Irish dancers imitating slaves as a form of comedy. Soon it became a new
style of dance, where groups will come together, compete and show their moves. It involves dancers
wearing special shoes equipped with metal taps, dancers use these shoes like drums to create sounds
and beats to make a rhythm. A pratical example is Savion Glover performers, the sounds are entirely
coming from his shoes and the floor. Below is a video of Don t Let Me Down: The Chainsmokers Tap

mistreatment of employees in developing countries. Slimline is an apparel manufacturer in Sri Lanka,
which does business disparately. The company employs 5000+ employees, whom help produced $50

2. Each company has chosen to participate in the joint venture rather than operate its own wholly
owned subsidiary because each joint venture partner in Slimline benefits from the others unique
knowledge and expertise. Mast industries provides a vast network of clientele, Courtaulds provides
great production power due to it being the largest apparel manufacturer in the UK, and MAS provides
Slimline with the world s first carbon neutral textile facility. Each partner brings something to the
table that the others cannot, which is why they chose to participate in the joint venture.
3. From the perspective of each of the partners, there are potential pitfalls to joining this joint venture.
Each company is grouped with two other partners, which is risky because there are greater liabilities.
If one of the partner s reputations suffers, as a result, all of the partner s reputations under Slimline
will as well suffer. They need to work as a team and continue to do what they are doing in order to
continue growing. They all have things that benefit each one, so yes there are pitfalls because without
all of the initial members of this joint venture, Slimline could face some serious issues and could have

Explain Why Is Connecticut Called The Nutmeg State
Why is Connecticut Called the Constitution State and the Nutmeg State?
Connecticut is called the Constitution State because it had the world s first written constitution.
According to Gelman, Hartford, Windsor, and Wethersfield wanted to join together and become the
colony of Connecticut (20). They wrote their own laws to live by. These laws are called the
Fundamental Orders. Connecticut is also called the Nutmeg State. This is because people moved from
Connecticut to other states because there was not enough land to live on. They moved around like the
yankee peddlers would to sell goods and nutmegs to farmers and settlers (Kent, 45). Many of the
people from Connecticut moved to the midwest.

Women in the Enlightenment Essay
The Enlightenment is known as the revolution that brought to question the traditional political and
social structures. This included the question of the woman s traditional roles in society. As the public
sphere relied more and more ?? and the advances in scientific and educated thinking, women sought to
join in with the ranks of their male counterparts. Women held gatherings known as salons where they
organized intellectual conversations with their distinguished male guests. Seeking to further their
status, enlightened women published pamphlets and other works advocating for educational rights and
political recognition. Even with this evolution of woman in society, many still clung to the belief that
the role of the woman was solely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, faith in knowledge and reason and in the progress they were held certain to achieve
remained the dominant characteristic of the Enlightenment. With the change in political climate,
women began to grasp the idea of reason in the new society. There was a fight for education,
professionalism, and citizenship. The change that the Enlightenment brought to the world, gave
women the lifeline they needed to pull away from their domesticated roles as housekeepers, wives,
and mothers. Above all, perhaps, the rationalists of the eighteenth century aroused the social
conscience of mankind and stimulated the humanitarianism. The Enlightenment allowed a period of
educational growth to begin. A new love for knowledge and debate sprung up throughout the century.
Women joined in with the intellectual banter by starting salons. If Voltaire transformed the thoughts,
and Rousseau the feelings, of the eighteenth century, it was the salons of Paris that the new
conceptions of reason and nature, of free thought and the importance of the individual, were sifted,
codified, and eventually imposed. Women played a central role in the organization of these intellectual
gatherings, holding them in their homes. They invited prominent, academically inclined men to join
together to share ideas, in which the lady of the home regulated with agendas and topics. Women were
able to be present when men spoke of the political, social, and

The Pros And Cons Of Photocopiers
The 21st century has in many ways been defined as the century of innovation, especially in the
emergent field of technology, and science has been an essential contributor to this. Electricity has been
an important factor to invention. Static electricity is a form of electricity that has enabled the creation
of printers, spray paint, pollutant removers and photocopiers. In this essay, I will discuss static
electricity, photocopiers, and how they play a role in the speed of mass production. I will also
illustrate the photocopier s advantages and disadvantages, and its implication for society.
The well known phrase opposites attract is derived from physics and polarity. Everything that
surrounds us is made of atoms, which are composed of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Photocopiers entertain built in hard drives that are comprised of confidential project information. Even
if one gets a private area to copy confidential documents, the documents remain stored in the
photocopier (fig 6). Therefore it is necessary to decommission the copier and clear the hard drive
before someone else uses it, so that the previous information cannot be accessed .
Photocopiers play a role, even if indirectly, in impacting the environment. We are increasingly living
in an era of pollution and scarcity of fundamental resources. One of these important and overused
resources are trees. The paper making process places burden on some of our most important natural
resources, as the production of paper uses large amounts of energy and water. The photocopying
process also uses chemicals, such as chlorine, , which can cause damage to the environment. In
addition, The United Nations Environment Programed (UNEP), has stated that paper in landfills can
produce toxic greenhouse gases such as methane, which traps up to 21 times more heat than carbon
dioxide . To reduce some of this negative impact, double sided printing was introduced; it consumes
less paper and waste, double sided printing is more environmentally friendly and economically sound.
It also speeds up the mass producing

Howard Moore Music
I have always loved The Lord of The Rings trilogy, it has been my refuge, my playground, and my
inspiration through the majority o my life. The music especially in the film as always touched me very
deeply and has encouraged me in such a dramatic way that I myself am pursuing music, both
performance and composition. Then beyond that, the film itself is a great source for my own personal
aesthetic. Now, is this also the product of incredibly talented advertising and marketing, yes, for sure.
However, it is undeniable that music and movies are irrevocable linked and have been linked since
long before this paper will be examining. While music was and is very important to film making, the
game was changed when Howard Shore masterfully composed his works for The Lord of The Rings.
His music has had such and impact upon the nature of music in the media that it even perpetrates into
video games. I would like to show a brief and surface level idea of the depth of his work, for I could
not do him justice. Furthermore, I am positive that there are more composers who have had the same
effect upon music and film in their own way, but in this I will focus upon him. In this paper, drawing
upon the filmscore, academic journals, my own personal experiences, literature, and the composer s
own word, I will argue that Howard Shore, through musical setting of The Lord of The Rings, used
techniques similar to Wagner s leitmotif and other musical techniques to create a precedent and
standard for

Maus by Art Spiegelman Essay
Why are comics not appreciated as much as the dry narratives of novels in the literary world? A comic
is composed of symbols to express concepts shared by all people in their own social environment, and
provide more tools than conventional art to truly show artistic intention.
Comics exist to expose the ethnic representations that seek to control the development of collective
perceptions, memories and emotions and especially fear by investigating the techniques through which
this control is maintained. Maus I is a true account of a Holocaust survivor, Vladek Spiegelman, and
his experiences as a young Jew during the horrors leading up to the confinement in Auschwitz. Maus
II is about Vladek recounting his own history to his son Art ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Spiegelman uses mice, cats, pigs and other animals to portray the victims and events in the Holocaust.
He uses real features of human beings such as hands, feet and emotions to give the animals the full
potential to relate to. Maus reveals that the characters portrayed as mice are being seen in sharper
relief as human concerns in the world of mice. Spiegelman decided on interesting but possibly
offensive use of different animals to use. The first type of animal which appears in this comic is the
mouse (MausI:5). The form of mice is used to represent the Jewish people during the Holocaust and as
of now too. The Polish police were involved in the arrest of innocent Jewish mice (27). The Polish
people were pigs and Germans were represented as cats. The Germans appearance as cats began to
make sense in the way how cats chase, hunt and kill mice (33). This comic book was translated into an
easily readable format to educate the history of the Holocaust to the younger generations.
Second, the choice of a comic format serves as a vital aspect in the reader s understanding of the
visual society and making awareness through generations as more attuned to the image than to the
word. In Vladek s world, being and living as a human meant living in fear. Vladek escapes the fear of
death for a time through the intercession of an S.S. officer who wanted to learn English from him and
in return provided him with some protection (78). This

The Strategies of Globalization and Regionalization
Globalization and Regionalization: As a concept that has become common since the 1990s,
globalization is described as the technological, economic, cultural, ideological, and economic changes
across borders. It can also be regarded as the transformation of the global economy through the
anarchy of financial markets or a technological revolution with social impacts. In contrast,
regionalization is the growth of societal integration within a specific area that incorporates all the
undirected procedures of economic and social interactions among the units in the region. Since these
concepts are different in nature, they contain various strategies that are only effective in specific

phenomenon in the past two decades because of the changes it has brought and the adoption of its
strategies by multinational corporations or companies. The economic changes of globalization include
the strengthening of economic inter dependence, internationalization of production, and enhanced
mobility of transnational corporations. On the other hand, trade liberalization, privatization, and
deregulation are the ideological changes emanating from this concept. Kacowicz (1998) states that the
technological changes include information and communication revolutions that have minimized the
world while the trends towards a universal world culture and synchronization of standards are

Summary Of The Rocking Horse Winner
D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner is a captivating dive into the primitive psyche of a
mentally disturbed child. Paul has an incredible gift that he desperately wishes his mother, Hester, will
notice. Hester does not recognize Paul s talents and he refuses to quit until she realizes what he can do
for her. In Paul s despair he exhausts his short life in an oedipal flurry of attempts at indulging his
mother s desires for money and sexual fulfilment. Paul experiences an oedipal conflict towards his
father and wishes that he could be the monetary provider for his mother. According to the
psychoanalysis organization ChangingMinds The Oedipus complex [is when] a boy is fixated on his
mother and competes with his father for maternal attention (changingminds.org). Paul discusses his
father with Hester and asks if [his] father [is] unlucky . When she bitterly tells Paul that his father is
very unlucky , he seizes the opportunity to claim that he [is] a lucky person . Through this exchange
with Hester, Paul realizes that he must be lucky in order to dethrone his father as Hester s provider.
Paul goes off in search of luck to present to his mother, and the narrator emphasizes Paul s desires by
saying He want[s] it three consecutive times. Paul takes to his trusty rocking horse to find answers. He
finds these answers by riding his horse until he gets there , and knows the winning horse in the
upcoming races. After a few successes at the race track, Paul saves up

Canada A Liberal Democracy
Canada is one of the top liberal democracies in the world. A strong liberal democracy allows for the
people to have a voice and be able to start and guide change in the state. An important way for the
people to practice their involvement in change is by challenging the executive or the legislature when
they feel their personal rights have been infringed upon. A common way for that to be practiced is by
raising awareness when an individual feels their rights have been infringed by the passing of a certain
bill or law. One of the primitive values of a liberal democracy is an independent judiciary. The main
goal of implementing an independent judiciary is to ensure that all individual rights are protected from
infringement. The presence of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judges posses the power to clarify the law, to appraise evidence that is presented to them and conduct
how hearings in their courtrooms will play out. Judges are appointed and given the role of decision
makers in regards to administering justice. The immediate role of the judiciary is strictly dedicated to
the law and protecting citizens rights. A judge will depict and apply the law how they see fit for each
unique and individual case presented to them. An independent judiciary is an example of separation of
powers in a democracy, a judge does not have to be hesitant during the decision making process if
their decision is found to be unpopular. The Supreme Court functions separately from other justice
systems and government branches. Judges in Canada hold the ability to be able to strike down
legislation if they deem it to be unconstitutional. The judiciary in Canada has the power to override
even the most popular decisions made by the federal government if it finds that they are opposed to
the charter or are found unconstitutional. The court deals with three different kinds of disputes;
conflicts between individuals, conflicts between the government and individuals, as well as conflicts
involving the various levels of

Hopefully this will remind us to never return to our past. By reading this we will be reminded of our
past mistakes so we will be sure to never repeat them. By reading about katniss s bravery, we can
emulate it ourselves. It shows that one person really can make a difference. For example, in the
beginning Katniss was a scared girl and throughout the book you can slowly see her changing into a
fearless leader that is the influence of Panem. This just goes to show that one act of bravery can go a
very long way. In conclusion, these books all teach very different lessons about life that will help
better our society. These lessons of charity, generosity, hope, faith, bravery will save us from the
turmoil we are currently in. Books can heal, inspire hope, and save. That is the ultimate goal of this
project. We were told that books were once very common and saved millions. So if that is true, then
something in these three books has to have the power to save all of us. These books will help rebuild
our society, teach us about the beauty we failed to see, and give us direction so we will not make the

didn t just become famous overnight though, it took years, hard work, and overcoming obstacles, like
criticizers; it took hard work and dedication. From, when Elvis was ten and entered his first singing
contest to when he died at forty two, he never stopped working, through his lifetime the readers will

How Quebec Affected Canada
Quebec has made mistakes like building the Hydro Quebec without the permission of natives on
traditional land and by doing so, Quebec started to believe that if they left Canada in the first place,
they could make their own laws without having to forcefully agree to the Constitutional Act. Even
though Quebec is in Canada, they are not recognized as well as the English Canadians because they
are the ones who lead/control everything going on in the country no matter how many prominent
people come from Quebec or how many Quebecois soldiers risk their lives at war for Canada. Canada
has brought more harm to Aboriginals because they have purposely tried to discriminate other groups
that are not English or British to get rid of them.(Research Publications, N/A, 54). ... Show more

How Did Qin Shi Huang-Di Unified China
Qin Shi Huang di was an effective leader for China because he unified China and made it as a whole.
This was very important because he was able to do the impossible, China was separated into seven
families and he took the advantage of making China into one whole family. These seven families were
called: Zhao, Yeh, Chi, Hah, Wei, Chin, and Chu (First Emperor). He also undertook multiple
construction projects and other projects that seemed almost impossible. An example of this is, when he
decided to build the construction of the Great Wall of China, something he is most famous for is the
fact that he built six feet tall terracotta warriors. He built hundreds of thousands of them because he
feared that all the people he killed would come after

Factors Affecting The Earth s Surface Systems Undergo A...
Introduction. Over the past century there have been rapid and noticeable changes in environmental
conditions on Earth. These changes can be traced in various geospheres: alterations of the gaseous
composition of the atmosphere, major decreases in global ice volume (Cryosphere), in both: land and
water based glaciers with consequent rise of sea level (Hydrosphere), increase in the frequency and
severity of geohazards (Lithosphere) etc. Triggering mechanisms for those changes include both:
natural fluctuations of environmental processes brought about by heliophysical, cosmophysical and
tectonic factors as well as rapidly increasing contribution coming from human anthropogenic activities
via alterations of natural biogeochemical cycles. Geochemical weathering. The Earth s surface
systems undergo a series of complex interactions involving exchanges between various geospheres
within the Earth s system (the atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and the hydrosphere) and outside of
it (helio and cosmophysical factors), through matter and energy exchanges. Despite the fact that
overall understanding about the majority of these processes and their involvement in these interactions
exists (even though rather incomplete), their quantification and the identification on the spatial and
temporal scales remain central problems for the Earth Science community (Moquet, 2011). One of the
more important ones involves quantifying the role of geochemical weathering in the carbon (C) cycle

Socioeconomic Status Of Black Families
In the United States alone, minorities have struggled for centuries to earn the basic rights and
opportunities as others. African Americans have always worked harder and been treated maliciously
just because of the color of their skin. There have been numerous movements, peaceful protests, and
brutal battles by black leaders against whites for equality, justice, and a fair chance at a better life. It is
safe to say that in the past, blacks were not allowed to progress or have a mind of their own. In
comparison to the past, the educational sector for minorities still remains as an extreme societal
challenge. For many years, African Americans have been denied educational advancement
opportunities. The higher education area suffers greatly for the black population but very few people
will address why this matter occurs. Do black families socioeconomic status affect the children s
education? The socioeconomic status is easily defined as an individuals or families economic and
social rank based on income, education level, and occupation. The socioeconomic status of black
families does affect their children s academic success, however; it does not determine their children s
success. This educational disadvantage for black students needs to be addressed because of the lack of
financial and emotional support that minority students receive due to their parents lack of experience
and knowledge with higher education. Many black students become a product of their environment
because

Artistic Authenticity And Its Impact On The Middle Of...
Artistic authenticity is a pattern starting with mid nineteenth century French Literature. It stretched out
to late nineteenth and early twentieth century creators. It is the delineation of contemporary life and
the general public as it seems to be. Realist creators selected delineation of ordinary and hackneyed
exercises and encounters, rather than a romanticized or comparatively adapted presentation. In
authenticity the character is a result of social components and environment is the vital component in
the emotional entanglements. It looks for a balanced relationship in the middle of representation and
the subject. This structure is otherwise called mimesis. Realists are concerned with the impact of their
work on the peruser and the peruser s life, a down to earth view. Sober mindedness obliges the
perusing of the work to have some irrefutable result for the perusers that will prompt have a finer life
for the peruser. Authenticity plans to decipher the facts of any part of life, free from subjective
partiality, optimism, or sentimental shade. It is contrary to concerns of the abnormal, the premise of
Romanticism. Stresses the genuine over the awesome. Tries to treat the typical truthfully and utilized
characters from regular life. This accentuation was brought on by societal changes, for example, the
repercussions of the Civil War in the United States and the rise of Darwin s Theory of Evolution and
its impact upon bible based understanding. Authenticity emerged as a

General Accepted Principles
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles HCS/571 Generally accepted accounting principles, better
known as (GAAP) discloses statements and reports financial information dealing with businesses and
organizations. They are rules made by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in which are
commonly used in the health industry to maintain the decisions of the organization. GAAP gives
detailed information to investors about the budget of the organization and their debt. GAAP includes
the most common principles used in the health care setting. They are; the entity concept, going

evidence, materiality, consistency, and full disclosure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accountants are able to determine the accrual accounting by focusing on the matching principle
(Finkler, Kovner, and Jones, 2007). With the matching principle organizations and businesses are able
to record expenses and revenues that were accumulated in the same year to match. Accrual accounting
is necessary because it gives a better explanation of expenses accrued annually. Cost principle The
cost principle is anything the business or organization purchases to get. For instance hospitals need
equipment. After buying brand new equipment over the years it will depreciate in value. The reported
value will be known as a net book value because of the change in cost over time (Finkler, Kovner, and
amp;, 2007). Objective evidence Due to mishaps with the cost principle and inconsistency of the
balance sheet, objective evidence is used. Objective evidence is providing proof objectively of
financially statements and expenses by different groups of individuals that are expected to agree
(Finkler, Kovner, amp; Jones, 2007). If a patient leaves the hospital with a device or surgery, knowing
how much in value the organization spent on the patient assets can help determine the precise amount
spent to receive it. Materiality Materiality relates to errors or discrepancies within the financial
information. Having a hospital to partner with another hospital and ask for help financial can affect the
partnership if the financial information is unclear

Global Market For Sun Care Products
A. Background Significance
Global Market for Sun Care Products
The global market for sun care products is expected to reach US $11.1 billion by 2020. While current
sunscreen agents in the market protect against UVA and/or UVB rays, offering important protection
from sunburn, photo aging, and DNA damage, these options can come with serious negative impacts
on our health and the environment (2 5).
Mycosporine
Mycosporines mycosporine like amino acids (MAAs) are UV absorbing (λmax= 310 to 360 nm),
small ( 400 Da), colorless, water soluble molecules that are synthesized by a variety of micro
organisms (e.g. aquatic fungi, eukaryotic algae, and cyanobacteria (1) and can get ingested by marine
animals. Mycosporine and MAA structures consist of one or two modified amino acid residue(s)
linked to a cyclohexenone core through imine linkages. Their conjugated system structure allows for
them to screen UV rays and dissipate the energy as heat without generating free oxygen radicals. In
addition, MAAs are known to provide additional protection from oxidative, osmotic and thermal
stress. Due to the growing global market for sun care products and increasing consumer interest
towards natural and environmentally conscious products, MAAs are great candidates for
commercialization in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. For instance, shinorine is used as an
active ingredient in sunscreen cream Helioguard 365, and is prepared through liposomal encapsulation
of dried P. umbilicalis

  • 2. Luther Standing Bear Analysis My First Buffalo, by Luther Standing Bear, may be one of the more terse stories in the anthology, Native American Autobiography, but it by no means lacks wisdom. When reading the captivating story, I was struck by the amount of life lessons that could be pulled out of one single experience in Luther Standing Bear s childhood. On the surface, My Buffalo seems to be a simple coming of age story, however once properly analyzed, you can find a story that teaches you to listen and respect those wiser than yourself, to honor the art of hunting and to only speak the truth. The first lesson I caught onto fairly quickly was to value and listen to you elders. Before his first Buffalo hunting endeavour, Luther Standing Bear s father gives him some wise words of advice. He stresses the importance of staying observant, saying, Whatever you do, watch the buffalo closely (Krupat 301) and warns Luther Standing Bear to keep his eyes open when he passes through dust. He also urges Luther Standing Bear to hunt with precision and patience. While this advice may seem obvious and easy to follow, Luther Standing Bear has trouble putting such information into action at first. When chasing the buffalo, he gets disoriented in the dust and starts to panic. Luther Standing Bear states, I then realized how helpless I was there in all that dust and confusion. The sound of their hoofs was frightening (Krupat 303). This moment of panic shows how essential Luther Standing Bear s father s advice was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Morrissey Accomplishments For my epic hero I chose Morrissey. He was the lead singer of the band The Smiths and has since moved on to record over ten solo albums. He also has earned a name in the animal rights movement and is a huge encourager for vegetarian eating. This is one of the things I consider to be his great accomplishments. He uses his platform to show the inhumanity that occurs at slaughterhouses and has partnered up with animal right groups, campaigning for spaying and neutering animals. This theme is also prominent in his music where he sings of the brutality of bullfighting in The Bullfighter Dies . Another one of his great accomplishments is his music. He has also dealt with depression since the age of seventeen. This apparently has been more difficult for him. He is still dealing with it and says it s like a Black dog that never goes away. Morrissey can be described as larger than life. He has done interviews with Larry King and has sold out multiple concerts. He once again has created over ten successful album, had a well known band and created many great songs. NME considered him to be one of the most influential artists ever. Morrissey is very determined which is something many find as a desirable trait. He started his music career with two small unsuccessful bands called the Nosebleeds and Slaughter The ... • 5. How Important Is Having A Clear Process How important is having a clear process in regards to informing a design outcome? Setting up progressive goals and rules helps a designer in making everything more clearly and efficiently, so as to achieve the anticipated and satisfactory design outcome. What designers need to do is to first provide a rudimentary design map, covering different small processes, explaining what are their specific operations as well as their importance in contributing to the final outcome. Secondly, designers need to follow these preset processes, assuring each step is correctly followed. But on top of that, they could definitely add in some spontaneous and creative personal ideas during the implementation of the plan, which will hopefully make the project more like their own s, other than a robotic, emotionless work. In the first place, having a clear process enables designers to understand the concepts in greater depth. This could later facilitate and guide the development and implementation of design projects. To comprehend the topics, designers need to define the meanings of the topics, outline related fields and think about the project purposes. Our group was assigned to the topic boundaries (Bruce studio), which required us to determine and understand the criteria in deciding whether an area is bound or unbound . To start with, we viewed boundary as the line between the space we live inside and outside. We developed a model and used light to illuminate the model in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Annotation Of Sappho s Fragment 16 The Greeks produced some of the greatest literature in the Archaic Age; stories were dauntless, delightful, and passionate whilst sustaining a worldly and rich composition. In the Archaic Age, beauty is sought by the citizens of Greece all throughout the various forms of artistic expression. For example, Greek sculptures before the Archaic Age were widely influenced by the mesopotamians and egyptians, with rigid postures and ceremonious gestures. However, in the Archaic Age, we see a little more change throughout the art of sculpting in Greece. Greek sculptors began incorporating lively, athletic, and healthy attributes to the work of art, such as the Anavysos Kouros, (page 52) a Greek korari sculpture based by the Archaic Age. Health and beauty in art was commenced in the Hellenic Era, almost as much as the religious aspect of the art. In addition, Architecture grew of the idea of beauty and beautiful buildings. Greek temples became very intricate with design and beautifully delicate with aesthetic ethics incorporated into their fundamental principles. Developments such as the post beam triangle construction, pediments, cornice, and stylobate was implemented to integrate beauty into their architecture. • 10. Descriptive Essay On Summer And Winter It s four o clock on a rainy, autumn, Monday afternoon. I ve chosen my location to be my room in my apartment at 2224 Blowing Rock Rd. The window is always left open due to my admiration for the regular sounds that occur outside my building. This location makes me feel comfortable, calm, and upbeat. Not only did I specifically pick out the place and time for this assignment I really aimed to write this while the weather was accenting autumn, wet and windy. Nothing is more relaxing than a nice cup of coffee in the comforts of your own bed while the wind and rain serenade you. The whole season of fall makes me feel warm and content. Thoreau wrote The indescribable innocence and beneficence of Nature, of the sun and wind and rain, of summer and winter, such health, such cheer, they afford forever! And such sympathy have they ever with our race, that all nature would be affected, and the suns brightness fade, and the winds would sigh humanely, and the clouds rain tears, and the woods shed their leaves and put on mourning in midsummer, if any man should ever for just a cause grieve (Solitude, 110). Within the room itself, I can hear a few distinct sounds around me. A faint melody of jazz can be heard on a radio in the corner. Music helps me focus on whatever work I have for the night. Although I have turned the radio down in order to hear other sounds for this assignment, I can still hear small claps of a beat and an upbeat squeak of some kind of horn. Attached to my curtains are a string of old bells. The wind is picking up today and every time it blows a small gust through my window the curtain moves and the bells dance along it. They sound like tiny cow bells. The wind has also picked a fight with a small candle on one of my tables. I can hear the flickers of the flame trying to stay lit as well as it possibly can. And of course, the most apparent sound in the room is the tapping and clicking of my laptop keys as I write this. Outside of my window, there are several different layers of sound all unique to each other. The first layer come from the immediate parking lot in front and the whole apartment complex itself. I can hear bustling neighbors all around; faint laughs, doors shutting, cars ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Tap Dance Vs Musical Theatre There are a few similarities between the genres of tap, jazz and musical theatre. All three genres influences each other but are clearly completely different. They all can be seen on theatrical stage and in movies. Tap (1989), Center Stage (2000) and All That Jazz (1979) are good examples of musical movies. Savion Glover performance at ABFF 2014, Sing! Sing! Sing! (1 of 2) Fosse and Oklahoma Dream Sequence were all done on stage. Jazz and Tap dance have a strong syncopated rhythms whiles musical theatre does not. There is usually a storyline in Musical theatre compared to Jazz Dance or Tap Dance. Both Jazz and Tap dance are improvisational unlike Musical theatre. Sounds are produced in Tap dance by moving the feet. Both Musical theatre and Tap Dance are linked to Jazz. I do not remember if I have ever seen a live musical theatre production but I have seen a lot of them in movies though. To name a few, I have seen The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver and Mamma Mia. But my favorite of all will be the Fiddler on the Roof movie of 1971. In the scene where he sung to life and the bottle dance competition, you could see a mixture of ballet and tap dance in their performance. They jumped, did pique and pirouette turns a few times. The change that the Enlightenment brought to the world, gave women the lifeline they needed to pull away from their domesticated roles as housekeepers, wives, and mothers. Above all, perhaps, the rationalists of the eighteenth century aroused the social conscience of mankind and stimulated the humanitarianism. The Enlightenment allowed a period of educational growth to begin. A new love for knowledge and debate sprung up throughout the century. Women joined in with the intellectual banter by starting salons. If Voltaire transformed the thoughts, and Rousseau the feelings, of the eighteenth century, it was the salons of Paris that the new conceptions of reason and nature, of free thought and the importance of the individual, were sifted, codified, and eventually imposed. Women played a central role in the organization of these intellectual gatherings, holding them in their homes. Photocopiers entertain built in hard drives that are comprised of confidential project information. Even if one gets a private area to copy confidential documents, the documents remain stored in the photocopier (fig 6). Therefore it is necessary to decommission the copier and clear the hard drive before someone else uses it, so that the previous information cannot be accessed . Photocopiers play a role, even if indirectly, in impacting the environment. We are increasingly living in an era of pollution and scarcity of fundamental resources. One of these important and overused resources are trees. The paper making process places burden on some of our most important natural resources, as the production of paper uses large amounts of energy and water. The photocopying process also uses chemicals, such as chlorine, , which can cause damage to the environment. In addition, The United Nations Environment Programed (UNEP), has stated that paper in landfills can produce toxic greenhouse gases such as methane, which traps up to 21 times more heat than carbon dioxide . To reduce some of this negative impact, double sided printing was introduced; it consumes less paper and waste, double sided printing is more environmentally friendly and economically sound. • 20. Howard Moore Music I have always loved The Lord of The Rings trilogy, it has been my refuge, my playground, and my inspiration through the majority o my life. The music especially in the film as always touched me very deeply and has encouraged me in such a dramatic way that I myself am pursuing music, both performance and composition. Then beyond that, the film itself is a great source for my own personal aesthetic. Now, is this also the product of incredibly talented advertising and marketing, yes, for sure. However, it is undeniable that music and movies are irrevocable linked and have been linked since long before this paper will be examining. While music was and is very important to film making, the game was changed when Howard Shore masterfully composed his works for The Lord of The Rings. His music has had such and impact upon the nature of music in the media that it even perpetrates into video games. I would like to show a brief and surface level idea of the depth of his work, for I could not do him justice. Furthermore, I am positive that there are more composers who have had the same effect upon music and film in their own way, but in this I will focus upon him. In this paper, drawing upon the filmscore, academic journals, my own personal experiences, literature, and the composer s own word, I will argue that Howard Shore, through musical setting of The Lord of The Rings, used techniques similar to Wagner s leitmotif and other musical techniques to create a precedent and standard for ... • 21. Maus by Art Spiegelman Essay Why are comics not appreciated as much as the dry narratives of novels in the literary world? A comic is composed of symbols to express concepts shared by all people in their own social environment, and provide more tools than conventional art to truly show artistic intention. Comics exist to expose the ethnic representations that seek to control the development of collective perceptions, memories and emotions and especially fear by investigating the techniques through which this control is maintained. Maus I is a true account of a Holocaust survivor, Vladek Spiegelman, and his experiences as a young Jew during the horrors leading up to the confinement in Auschwitz. Maus II is about Vladek recounting his own history to his son Art ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spiegelman uses mice, cats, pigs and other animals to portray the victims and events in the Holocaust. He uses real features of human beings such as hands, feet and emotions to give the animals the full potential to relate to. Maus reveals that the characters portrayed as mice are being seen in sharper relief as human concerns in the world of mice. Spiegelman decided on interesting but possibly offensive use of different animals to use. The first type of animal which appears in this comic is the mouse (MausI:5). The form of mice is used to represent the Jewish people during the Holocaust and as of now too. The Polish police were involved in the arrest of innocent Jewish mice (27). The Polish people were pigs and Germans were represented as cats. The Germans appearance as cats began to make sense in the way how cats chase, hunt and kill mice (33). This comic book was translated into an easily readable format to educate the history of the Holocaust to the younger generations. Second, the choice of a comic format serves as a vital aspect in the reader s understanding of the visual society and making awareness through generations as more attuned to the image than to the word. In Vladek s world, being and living as a human meant living in fear. Vladek escapes the fear of death for a time through the intercession of an S.S. officer who wanted to learn English from him and in return provided him with some protection (78). This ... • 22. The Strategies of Globalization and Regionalization Globalization and Regionalization: As a concept that has become common since the 1990s, globalization is described as the technological, economic, cultural, ideological, and economic changes across borders. It can also be regarded as the transformation of the global economy through the anarchy of financial markets or a technological revolution with social impacts. In contrast, regionalization is the growth of societal integration within a specific area that incorporates all the undirected procedures of economic and social interactions among the units in the region. Since these concepts are different in nature, they contain various strategies that are only effective in specific situations. Strategies of Globalization and Regionalization: The concept of globalization has become a prevalent phenomenon in the past two decades because of the changes it has brought and the adoption of its strategies by multinational corporations or companies. The economic changes of globalization include the strengthening of economic inter dependence, internationalization of production, and enhanced mobility of transnational corporations. On the other hand, trade liberalization, privatization, and deregulation are the ideological changes emanating from this concept. Kacowicz (1998) states that the technological changes include information and communication revolutions that have minimized the world while the trends towards a universal world culture and synchronization of standards are ... • 29. Factors Affecting The Earth s Surface Systems Undergo A... Introduction. Over the past century there have been rapid and noticeable changes in environmental conditions on Earth. These changes can be traced in various geospheres: alterations of the gaseous composition of the atmosphere, major decreases in global ice volume (Cryosphere), in both: land and water based glaciers with consequent rise of sea level (Hydrosphere), increase in the frequency and severity of geohazards (Lithosphere) etc. Triggering mechanisms for those changes include both: natural fluctuations of environmental processes brought about by heliophysical, cosmophysical and tectonic factors as well as rapidly increasing contribution coming from human anthropogenic activities via alterations of natural biogeochemical cycles. Geochemical weathering. The Earth s surface systems undergo a series of complex interactions involving exchanges between various geospheres within the Earth s system (the atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and the hydrosphere) and outside of it (helio and cosmophysical factors), through matter and energy exchanges. Despite the fact that overall understanding about the majority of these processes and their involvement in these interactions exists (even though rather incomplete), their quantification and the identification on the spatial and temporal scales remain central problems for the Earth Science community (Moquet, 2011). One of the more important ones involves quantifying the role of geochemical weathering in the carbon (C) cycle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Socioeconomic Status Of Black Families In the United States alone, minorities have struggled for centuries to earn the basic rights and opportunities as others. African Americans have always worked harder and been treated maliciously just because of the color of their skin. There have been numerous movements, peaceful protests, and brutal battles by black leaders against whites for equality, justice, and a fair chance at a better life. It is safe to say that in the past, blacks were not allowed to progress or have a mind of their own. In comparison to the past, the educational sector for minorities still remains as an extreme societal challenge. For many years, African Americans have been denied educational advancement opportunities. The higher education area suffers greatly for the black population but very few people will address why this matter occurs. Do black families socioeconomic status affect the children s education? The socioeconomic status is easily defined as an individuals or families economic and social rank based on income, education level, and occupation. The socioeconomic status of black families does affect their children s academic success, however; it does not determine their children s success. This educational disadvantage for black students needs to be addressed because of the lack of financial and emotional support that minority students receive due to their parents lack of experience and knowledge with higher education. It stretched out to late nineteenth and early twentieth century creators. It is the delineation of contemporary life and the general public as it seems to be. Realist creators selected delineation of ordinary and hackneyed exercises and encounters, rather than a romanticized or comparatively adapted presentation. In authenticity the character is a result of social components and environment is the vital component in the emotional entanglements. It looks for a balanced relationship in the middle of representation and the subject. This structure is otherwise called mimesis. Realists are concerned with the impact of their work on the peruser and the peruser s life, a down to earth view. Sober mindedness obliges the perusing of the work to have some irrefutable result for the perusers that will prompt have a finer life for the peruser. Authenticity plans to decipher the facts of any part of life, free from subjective partiality, optimism, or sentimental shade. It is contrary to concerns of the abnormal, the premise of Romanticism. Stresses the genuine over the awesome. Tries to treat the typical truthfully and utilized characters from regular life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accountants are able to determine the accrual accounting by focusing on the matching principle (Finkler, Kovner, and Jones, 2007). With the matching principle organizations and businesses are able to record expenses and revenues that were accumulated in the same year to match. Accrual accounting is necessary because it gives a better explanation of expenses accrued annually. Cost principle The cost principle is anything the business or organization purchases to get. For instance hospitals need equipment. After buying brand new equipment over the years it will depreciate in value. The reported value will be known as a net book value because of the change in cost over time (Finkler, Kovner, and amp;, 2007). Objective evidence Due to mishaps with the cost principle and inconsistency of the balance sheet, objective evidence is used. Objective evidence is providing proof objectively of financially statements and expenses by different groups of individuals that are expected to agree (Finkler, Kovner, amp; Jones, 2007). If a patient leaves the hospital with a device or surgery, knowing how much in value the organization spent on the patient assets can help determine the precise amount spent to receive it. • 33. Global Market For Sun Care Products A. Background Significance Global Market for Sun Care Products The global market for sun care products is expected to reach US $11.1 billion by 2020. While current sunscreen agents in the market protect against UVA and/or UVB rays, offering important protection from sunburn, photo aging, and DNA damage, these options can come with serious negative impacts on our health and the environment (2 5). Mycosporine Mycosporines mycosporine like amino acids (MAAs) are UV absorbing (λmax= 310 to 360 nm), small ( 400 Da), colorless, water soluble molecules that are synthesized by a variety of micro organisms (e.g. aquatic fungi, eukaryotic algae, and cyanobacteria (1) and can get ingested by marine animals. Mycosporine and MAA structures consist of one or two modified amino acid residue(s) linked to a cyclohexenone core through imine linkages. Their conjugated system structure allows for them to screen UV rays and dissipate the energy as heat without generating free oxygen radicals. In addition, MAAs are known to provide additional protection from oxidative, osmotic and thermal stress. Due to the growing global market for sun care products and increasing consumer interest towards natural and environmentally conscious products, MAAs are great candidates for commercialization in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
