Food Taboos
Food Taboos Would You Eat Breast Milk Cheese? (Hamm, 2010). I have shown this headline to
multiple people and have received the same reaction from everyone. Most of these people I work
with at a daycare. We all handle and serve breast milk on a daily basis. Also we watch mothers
nurse their infants. Yet, the reaction did not surprise me, even with this comfort level with human
breast milk. This reaction falls along the line of disgust and shock. One person even reacted with a
sharp reply of I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT! There is something about the thought of
consuming human breast milk that makes people squirm.
Human Breast Milk is touted as the perfected food for infants. There is extreme pressure placed on
new mothers to nurse or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two documentaries airing on the National Geographic Channel this week examine delicacies and
taboo foods around the globe, revealing that what s good or bad is all a matter of taste. (National
Geographic). This is only one of the channels that covers this topic on a regular occasion (I would
use the word basis); there are many more that cover every kind of taboo in the world.
Culture forms as sense of who we are in the larger community in which we exist among. This
connection shapes the rules we follow to exist to peacefully live with one another. The culture
we grow up in shapes our relationship with food. For better or worse, depending on if we accept
and live up to the cultural norms presented to us. For those who choose to not follow them will
be faced with consequences for rejecting theses norms. For me, the sub culture of my family in
the United States has had a major impact of what food taboos I hold. I was raised on a very limited
palate of food diversity and was rarely challenged to try new or unique food. This is only made
worse by having Asperger s Syndrome, which, causes sensory issues related to food. It can relate
to any of the senses related to eating or cooking. As a result, I do not enjoy eating as a general
rule and do not derive pleasure from it. The reason why this is true: is that I am very picky and
eating is challenging for me.
This taboo can affect me socially. Our society in the United States, places

Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Essay
Fried Pataters
Mr. Hahn
Phil 2310
10 May 2010
Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Aristotle and Rita Manning both have different theories when it
comes to ethics. Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning
uses what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim
towards the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons
governing the desires of the soul. Manning on the other hand believes that moral actions extend
from people caring for one another on a personal level. By developing the ability to care for
others, people become morally aware of how to act in certain situations. When the question of: how
ought I live my life? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then there are the two extreme ends of the states of character which is superhuman virtue and
brutishness. Superhuman virtue is displaying virtuous character in every case including
extreme situations. On the opposite end, brutishness is absent of reason and the desires are so
morbidly wrong that the actions are morbidly wrong as a result. Aristotle feels people should
strive for the superhuman virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly
difficult, being virtuous or continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics
is referred to as ethics of caring. She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being
disposition to care. Disposition to care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give
the lucid attention required to appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The
disposition deals with a commitment to caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that
humans are obligated to care for not only the needs of others, but also what is required for the
needs of others. A great example is sending beef to India after a natural disaster. By sending
provisions, people are showing they care but they fail to realize that Hindu people do not eat beef.
Instead, people should learn more about the people they are helping so that they can send
provisions that will do the most good. Manning states that we need to be aware of the individual
needs of certain people in

Background of Social Darwinism
Racial profiling is not new, however, and was a theory of sociology in the late 19th century
known as Social Darwinism. Incorrectly using Darwin s theory of evolution, the Social
Darwinists believed that some species were morally superior to others, and even some races
superior to others ADDIN EN.CITE Johnson200813(Johnson)13136Johnson, D.P.The Historical
Background of Social DarwinismContemporary Sociological Theories2008New YorkSpringer (
HYPERLINK l _ENREF_4 o Johnson, 2008 #13 Johnson). Public perception, though, believes
in favor of seeing race as a reason for crime, and having a considerable fear of anyone outside
their own ethnic group depending on the situation. Similarly, much so called organized crime,
amounting to billions of dollars annually has similar stereotypes of ethnic origin (e.g. Mafia La
Costa Nostra, Russian Mafia, Chinese Triads, Mexican Mafia, etc.). Still, over the past few
decades, at least since the Rodney King beating, the use of race by law enforcement, and then after
9/11 by Homeland security, has received considerable political and media attention. One is agog, for
instance, at the number of traffic stops that seem to target certain drivers, or the amount of arrests
for similar situations focused on minorities. We must remember, too, that racial profiling, or
stereotyping, is nothing new for centuries, cultures have looked to the other for excuses to go to
war, to incarcerate, or to find reason for authoritarian behavior. Witness the

Abstract: Software testing is one of essential activity in software engineering, which determines the
software quality and reliability. For effective software testing valid and suitable test data
generation is necessary. Now a day s valid test data generation for a software/program using
heuristic algorithms is major concern for research. Several heuristics algorithms have been studied
and it is observed that genetic algorithm is most suitable and efficient in automated test data
generation. In this paper test case data generation using genetic algorithms proposed. The genetic
algorithm is applied to generate valid test data for a mathematical problem.
Keywords: test data generation, Software testing, heuristic algorithms, genetic algorithm (GA).

The Iranian Revolution Of 1979 Essay
The Iranian Revolution, also known as the Islamic Revolution of 1979 took place in Iran. It is
when Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi the emperor of Iran during that time, was overthrown by the
revolutionary forces led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and thereafter established the Islamic
National Republic of Iran. The Iranian Revolutionbrought a big change into the international
community and how it viewed revolutions. As Iran s revolution lacked many of the fundamental
causes that were though to give rise to revolutions. It was unusual in the sense that it had no
agrarian pattern. As the traditional social structure was maintained after the revolution and it
reinstated old structure as the Muslim clergy came into power. To understand what led to the
Iranian Revolution of 1979, we need to look back into the Iranian history and the timeline leading
up to the revolution. In doing so, we can use the psychological theories of revolution and structural
functionalist theories of revolution in order to analyses and explain the cause of the Iranian
Revolution. Iran is a country with majority of its population being Shia Muslims, it is a splinter
branch of Islam where it is believed that only Muhammad s descendants can lead the faithful.
Muslim clergy plays political roles in Shia countries, even though Shia Muslims are a small
segment (about 15%) of the entire Muslim population, since 1501 most Iranians identify as Shia
Muslims. This is one way they differentiate themselves from the

Biological Approaches To Personality Psychology
Within the field of personality psychology there are six main domains of knowledge; the
dispositional domain, the intrapsychic domain, the biological domain, the cognitive experiential
domain, the social and cultural domain, and the adjustment domain. While no domain is more
important or influential over any other domain, the biological domain presents many theories that
help explain the questions that arise within personality psychology, specifically the biological
domain deals with the traits or characteristics that can be found within the person. Within the
biological domain there are three main approaches; genetics and personality, physiological
approaches to personality, and evolutionary perspectives on personality. Evolutionary psychologists

Many evolutionary psychologists have stated that self esteem is an adaptive mechanism (Bale,
2013, p. 69) and Bale found that self perceived physical attractiveness, which is strongly related to
self esteem, has clear implications for romantic desirability (Bale, 2013, p. 70). In his study, Bale
hypothesized and found evidence supporting a relationship between self perceived facial
attractiveness and self esteem that was significantly stronger in women (Bale, 2013, p. 70).
Campbell Miller (2011) suggest that narcissism emerged as a variation of trait dominance through
changes in mating preferences towards short term mating (as cited in Barnett Sharp, 2017, p. 327)
which can greatly play a part in the romantic desirability of a mate. Not only do these findings
identify a relationship between evolutionary mechanisms and personality traits we see today (Buss,
2005, as cited in Barnett Sharp, 2017, p. 331) but identifying these evolutionary mechanisms may
explain different manifestations of narcissism in men and women (Barnett Sharp, 2017, p.

Essay Woodrow Wilson and The Treaty of Versailles
Woodrow Wilson and The Treaty of Versailles
Woodrow Wilson, Premier Clemenceau, Prime Minister Lloyd George and Premier Orlando
started the Versailles Treaty committee. Wilson worked to win the Senates consent of the Treaty of
Versailles when he returned to America in July of 1919. Basically the treaty forced on Germany
the burden of reparations, and to take complete blame for the war. Woodrow Wilsonfelt that the
treaty was too harsh, placing unrealistic goals on Germany. Wilson wanted to add his Fourteen
Points, which was a less harsh approach to punish Germany. Unfortunately not all the points were
added to the Treaty of Versailles, but some points were introduced into the treaty. The Treaty that
President Wilson agreed on did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the political cartoon, Document E, the artist is portraying Woodrow Wilson and foreign
entanglements getting married. Objecting to the marriage is the United States Senate, holding a
paper of their constitutional rights. The Senate largely opposed the League Covenant Article 10 ,
the League of Covenant required member nations to attempt to solve disputes peacefully. If that
attempt fails, the nations were to observe a waiting period before going to war. This Article took
away Senates constitutional power to declare war. They were upset about this; they wanted their
constitutional rights protected. Document H strongly urges The League of Nations, yet it criticizes
both the Republicans who got involved and Woodrow Wilson. W.E.B. De Bois criticizes Wilson,
saying that if he weren t so stubborn and idiotic then the League of Nations would have worked.
Since Wilson wasn t willing to compromise with the Republicans, the United States must suffer by
not joining in at the assembly of the League of Nations, which is the most forward looking event of
the century according to De Bois. These three documents all criticize Wilson in one way or another.

Comparison Of Sleepy Hollow And Ichabod Crane
The style of Washington Irving s story varies from enchanted and mysterious, to downright jovial.
His rich language describes Sleepy Hollow and Ichabod Crane s time spent there with lavish detail
of the scenery and even the food.Ironically, the end and explanation of the Headless Horseman is
different in the two sources. In the story, with Crane hungry for the supernatural, Irving implies
with his ending that Brom Bones was the Horseman and that what happened could have a reality
based explanation. In the movie, where Johnny Depp s Ichabod Craneadamantly rejects any
supernatural ideas, Tim Burton creates an entire back story of witchcraft to explain the Headless
Hessian. In one similarity, both contrasted their main character s belief with

The Theory And The Neurocognitive Theory
The field of psychology has been working hard to understand what dreams are, why we have them,
and what they mean. In this paper, I am going to use four different theories to analyze a dream I
had. Some of these theories disagree with the other, but in my opinion they all have their strong
points. Freud s Theory, the Activation Synthesis Theory, the Problem Solving theory, and the
Neurocognitive theory, are the four theories dominating the field right now, and will be the four I
will use to further understand my dream.
My dream started in a very rural country side, corn growing in fields around me. In the
beginning, I was alone standing by an old metal RV. Then, a spaceship landed right in front of
the corn fields. A door opened to two creatures I had never seen before; aliens. All of a sudden, I
have a little blond girl around the age of 5 or 6 holding my hand looking very scared and my
best friend to the left of me. The aliens summoned me over and I walked to them with the little
girl. They told me they wanted the girl and in return would bring me fortune. I handed her over to
them and they gave me a box. I started walking back to the RV where my friend was, but I stopped
and turned around to see the girl walking into the ship, making eye contact with her and feeling
immense guilt. But, I turned around and showed my friend the gift that would make me a fortune,
which turned out to be an inflatable spaceship photo booth. I was very happy and started to plan the

Essay about Red Badge Of Courage
The Red Badge of Courage by Stephan Crane traces the effects of war on a Union
Soldier, Henry Fleming, from his dreams of soldiering, to his actual enlistment, and through
several battles of the Civil War. Henry Fleming was not happy with his boring life on the farm. He
wanted to become a hero in war and be praised and honored for his glorious achievements in battle.
He knew his mother would not like to see him go to war, but it was his decision to make.
He dreamed of the exciting battles of war and the thrill of marching. He didn t want to stay on the
farm living his benign life making rounds and completing chores. He made the final decision to
enlist. Once enlisted though, Henry learns the truths of war: ... Show more content on

Henry was scared, confused, and in a trance as he saw his forces depleting. He finally got up and
started running like a proverbial chicken, who has lost the direction of safety. After running away,
Henry started rationalizing his behavior in running from the enemy. At first he feels he was a
stupid coward for running, then he feels he was just saving himself for later. He felt nature didn t
want him to die, even though his side is losing. He believes he was intelligent for running and yet
hopes he will die in battle just for spite.
In returning to the fields, he met the tattered soldier, wounded and retreating. In the next charge,
Henry and the tattered soldier see Jim, also wounded, die a slow and painful death. After
Jim s death, the tattered soldier questions Henry on his wounds and Henry, reaping his actions from
selfish fear, leaves the tattered man alone on the battlefield, dying, and dangerous to himself.
Returning to the battle Henry stumbles on a retreating regiment and begs the soldiers to explain
why they are running. He grabbed a comrade by the arm, begging, not letting go, so the man hit
Henry over the head with the butt of his rifle, giving Henry his first Red Badge of Courage.
Dazed, Henry stumbles around the battlefield struggling to stay on his feet, until a cheery man
comes around and helps Henry to get back to his regiment. At his regiment he confronts Wilson who

Meaning of Burden of Proof and Standard of proof. Zambian...
This paper discusses the meaning of burden of proof and standard of proof and will also explain
the direction of the Judge given to the jurors in the given set of facts. 1. BURDEN OF PROOF
It is derived from the Latin expression onus probandi. The burden of proof or onus of proof
refers to the obligation on a party to satisfy the court to a specified standard of proof that certain
facts are true. The facts for this particular purpose are facts in issue.1 Burden of proof is closely
associated with the Latin maxim semper necessistas probandi incumbit ei qui agit which means the
necessity of proof always lies with the person who lays the charge.2 The general rule is that the
burden lies on a party who asserts in the affirmative. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lies on the Plaintiff to prove the facts in issue. In the event that the Defendant has a counter

Case Study Of Lotte Lacto King
Introduction to the Study
The purpose of this study is to understand the factors that led to the declining of a brand which
was once doing very good. The study also aims to measure the brand equity of the chosen brand
and then to do a segmentation and positioning analysis of the brand. Finally, the study aims to
recommend an STP strategy for the brand. The brand that I have chosen for the study is Lotte Lacto
King.
To achieve the purpose, a Focus Group Discussion was conducted which helped in identifying
various variables. Using these variables, a questionnaire was developed to understand the
perception of the consumers about the brand. A diverse group of approximately 100 consumers was
chosen to get the response. The next step involved running a factor analysis on the data collected
and arriving at core factors. The Brand Equity was measured next and a STP strategy is
recommended.
The Brand under consideration, reasons for choosing the Brand

on its brand name to attract sales but slowly this strategy started to fail and its sales started to drop.

Abolish Of The Electoral College
The abolishment of the electoral college has been a highly debated political topic since it was
first established by our founding fathers. The Electoral College is a voting system that was put in
place by the founding fathers back in 1787. When voters casts their ballots, they are actually
voting for the presidential electors. Each state is guaranteed at least 3 electoral votes. The number
of electors a state has is equivalent to the number of representatives they have plus the 2 seats in
Senate. In total there are 538 electoral votes; including the 3 from D.C. electors. However the
Presidential candidates need at least 270 votes to win the election. However, this electoral system
has created quite an uproar among people since the last election. The electoral collegehas limited
democracy to people in three major ways: by having the ability to alter results of the election over
the popular vote, discriminating candidates to campaign in certain states, and subsidize the decline
in voter turnout.
The electoral college has made it possible for presidential candidates to win the popular vote but
not the electoral college. This indicates that if a candidate is leading the their opponent by
millions of votes, he or she can still lose the election due to the opposing candidate getting more
votes from the smaller states in the electoral college. In the article, These 3 Common Arguments
For Preserving the Electoral College Are Wrong by Robert Speel, a professor of Political Science

Sunlight And Sunlight
Sunlight and shade can have effects on how the way turf grasses and weeds grow in lawns. Sunlight
is make ultraviolet radiation, and certain types of UV radiation can cause harm to turf gasses by.
Ultraviolet radiation all depends on what wavelengths the turf grasses can handle, the wavelengths
average from 400 280nm (Huylenbroeck and Bockstaele, 2001). Turf grasses start to form
adaptations to help survive in these conditions, by producing high amounts of chlorophyll, and
having other characteristics change to help better preform in the conditions. Shade is also a
benefactor when it comes to the turf grasses health. With excessive amounts of shade, objects are
preventing the turf to get the nutrients it needs from the sunlightto survive. Without the nutrients
the turf will start to obtain smaller roots, reduced shoots, and be introduced to diseases (Busey
and Davis, 1991). Shade can also be preventing water access to the turf grass. Types of grass are
considered to be shade tolerable like the fine fescues, and the rough bluegrass (Harper, 2013). The
conditions of where turf grass is found in order to maintain its health.
Sunlight includes ultraviolet radiation, which can harm turf grass. Ultraviolet radiation is split
into three different categories based on their wavelengths, UV A, UV B, and UV C. UV A has a
wave length of 400 315nm, and is the least harmful to turf grass. UV B has a wave length of 315
280nm, and is responsible for getting through the ozone layer and is the most harmful UV light to
turf grass. UV C has a wavelength of 100 280nm, but this wavelength never reaches the earth. The
smaller the wavelength the more energy, and radiation with higher energy can penetrate deeper into
the cells, causing more damage (Huylenbroeck and Bockstaele, 2001). Over exposure to ultraviolet
radiation can be harmful to grasses and weeds, by damaging the grasses DNA, its proteins, lipids
and membranes. With over exposure to ultraviolet radiation, grasses can undergo mutations when
reproducing. Mutations are however, mostly negative, inhibiting vital cellular processes (DNA
transcription and replication) and resulting in disturbed cellular function, sometimes even cell death
(Busey and Davis, 1991).

Compare And Contrast Plymouth Colony And Roanoke Colony
In 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered the New World. This discovery led to the
colonization of the New World by several European nations. European nations, such as Great
Britain, started colonization for a variety of reasons. The first English colony was Roanoke.
Roanoke was founded in 1585 by Sir Walter Raleigh. The purpose of this colony was to provide
the English a toe hold into the New World. Roanoke Colony was neither profit seeking or
religiously motivated, but by the opportunity to establish a settlement in the New World. The
second English colony was Jamestown. Jamestown was founded by the Virginia Company
which was a joint stock company chartered by King James I. The Virginia Company was made
up of two different parties, each with their own goals. The goal of the monarchy was to convert
Native Americans to Christianity, whereas the goal of the stock holders who funded the colony
was to generate profits. The reason for the location of Jamestown was decided because it was
located on a river with a northwest bend in hopes of finding the ever elusive route to Asia.... Show

The Plymouth colony was originally intended to be in Virginia but the Mayflower veered off
course and landed in Cape Cod, modern day Massachusetts. The Plymouth colony was founded by
the radical Puritan sect called the Separatists (also known as the Pilgrims). This colony was
founded to escape the persecution of the British crown. Conveniently, the location of their colony
placed them outside the jurisdiction of British rule which allowed them to form their own
government based on the Mayflower Compact. The Mayflower Compact allowed them to create
their own laws and made them no longer subjects of British

What Does My Papa s Waltz Mean
When you read My Papa s Waltz, you might think it is about a boy and his father having fun just
before bedtime. However, if you look further into the words you see much more. Considering the
text is all one needs to discover the true meaning of this poem. The words will get into your soul
and bring sorrow and anger to the surface. The word whiskey (line 1) shows the father is a
drinking man, and the word dizzy (line 2) implies the amount of whiskey his father consumes
sickens the boy. The boy is young and fragile which plays in the lines of the poem death (line 3),
battered (line 10), beat (line 13), and caked hard (line 14), are all negative hidden meanings. The
word countenance (line 7) parallels the mother s stern disapproval. Hung (line 3) is past tense
reflecting on an earlier time. Understanding the words is the first step in analyzing the poem....

Rhythm as in lines one through four, and seven through eight, are seen throughout the poem.
Whiskey, waltzing, was flows, contrasting to the negativity of the first verse. The image of the
father beating time on the boy s head with the palm of his hand sounds detrimental. It portrays the
father as having the utmost power over the boy, he grabs his wrist instead of holding his hands,
showing the control the father has. The boy hung on like death (line 3), is showing he hung on to
save his life. Verses rhyme sounds unnatural, giving the poem an uncomfortable feeling. The verses

Family guy, a bad influence on children?
Family guy is a dysfunctional family that lives in Quahog, Rhode Island. The parents: Peter and
Lois. The children: the oldest, Meg, the middle child, Chris and the baby is Stewie. Last but not
least, the dog Brian. This TV show exhibits crude, adult humour. There are many different opinions
on this show, many parents are ok with letting there children watch it and other refuse to do so
because of the kind of humour some parents are on edge. So is family guy a negative influence on

This is just a tiny bit of what happens in the show. This show is very negative on children and
they way they will interact with other in public. They also make fun of amputees, this can be very
harmful to the way children interact with other kids that have this kind of problem example Joe is
Peter Griffins neighbour and there is an episode that says no legs no service.
Also, this show is a very sexist show, they always make reference to women being in the kitchen
and that is all they re good at for example, in one episode peter tells Louis that making
sandwiches and babies are the only thing she is good for. This kind of behaviour shows to
young children that women are no good for anything because that is how the men on this show
treat the women. There s also lots of coarse language towards women, for example Quagmire a
neighbours always has many women over to his house for pleasurable reasons and you hear him
call them names like whores, bitches, sluts and more this foul language towards women is
another bad influence. Also peter has a teenage daughter Meg, everyone in the show is mean to
her. This girl is treated very badly for example in an episode she had sexual intercourse with a guy
and a little after that the guy Brandon, broke up with her, in another episode she has another
boyfriend Luke and Louis, her mother stole

Vincent Van Gogh Struggles
Vincent Van Gogh famously stated, If you hear a voice in you say you cannot paint , then by all
means paint, and that voice will be silenced. One would never engage in an activity in which you
have no skill. To achieve this skill you must engage in this activity frequently and learn from one s
errors. The only thing that will detain you from achieving this is doubt and fear. Vincent Van Gogh
had perseverance and did not cease his love for painting. He is a famous figure in art history hence
he had a thrilling and intriguing life and stood out from most painters from his time. Vincent had
many struggles in life mentally, emotionally, and physically. But he assimilated from these and

in his home circle. Vincent could be in a moment of excitement and then in a moment of
depression and sadness. There were multiple moments that impacted Vincent s life. He traveled
to many places to work and never saw hope in life until he met and fell in love with Ursula ( who
was his landlady s daughter). When Vincent gained enough courage, he avowed his love for her
and also asked her to marry him. She laughed claiming she was already engaged and Vincent,
after hearing this, became heartbroken and returned to his depressing state with the belief that
there is no hope in life. Furthermore, Vincent was mentally challenged, he became fixated and
close to God and the bible. It behooved him to become a pastor like his father, and so he did. He
wanted to send God s message to the crowd in sermons but became too obsessed. Vincent had a
fervent sense of vocation but was handicapped by his instability, his excessive zeal and
exaggeration he displayed in everything he took up. Once, he attempted to persuade his listeners
that, sorrow is better than joy ( Vincent pg 18 paragraph 6). Furthermore, at the age of 27, he chose

Carl Sandburg s Hope Is A Tattered Flag
Carl Sandburg writes this poem to provide hope and to rally a nation deflated by the Great
Depression (Smith and Thomason 1). Sandburg had seen action and injustice throughout his
childhood and while he served his nation in the Army (Leslie). Sandburg knew how bad things
already were for America and then when The Great Depression came, the situation became worse.
The Great Depression affected him as well as millions of other Americans (Smith and Thomason
2). This is revealed in his writing through his choice of diction and imagery. In his poem Hope is
a Tattered Flag, Sandburg not only conveys how challenging, and depressing the 1930s were for
Americans, but he also relayed the message of how we overcame and survived those troubled times,

We can infer that hope is not wishful thinking as it is to be found everywhere only if we look for
it ( Poster Poems ) . We can find hope anywhere whether it is in the timeless world of non human
process or in the finite sphere of our own actions ( Poster Poems ). Yes, the depression is over
and America is still in a bad time, but as Sandburg states in the last stanza of the poem hands of
strong men....for handholds (19). Sandberg is conveying the message that the same hands that
dig the dark pit of the mines could help us climb into the light as well ( Poster Poems ).
Sandburg refers to hope all throughout the poem. When he says Hope is a tattered flag and a
dream of time (1), he is referring to the variety of life that he appreciates so much even after all
that has happened (Knight). He is showing the reader and all Americans that we should not lose
faith or hope. America has suffered and endured a lot of hard times recently, but as Sandburg
shows in his poem Hope is a Tattered Flag, good times are just around the corner. Nature will
balance out the bad with good as it is guaranteed by the laws of the universe. (Smith and Thomason

Guatemala And United States Government Systems Essay
Guatemala and United States Government Systems Government is the authority that addresses,
control and administers the institutions of a community. Every country has ruled by a governance
structure. There are different kinds of government. This comparison is about the United States and
Guatemala s forms of government.
United States system has its foundation on an agreement between the people and the government to
ensure that individual liberties continue to prosper under a free society. The Declaration of
Independence lists three important rights that the Founding Fathers considered natural and
unalienable. They are the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Government exists to
protect these rights. On other hand, the purpose of Guatemala s government, according to the
Guatemala s Constitution, is to promote the common welfare, the consolidation of the regime of
legality, security, equality, justice, liberty and peace. Both countries have its foundation on
democracy; nevertheless, there are specific characteristics that mark a difference between them.
First, United States Constitution establishes a system of government named representative
democracy . In a representative democracy or indirect democracy, the power to govern comes
from the people, who have the highest power. The government works for the people and protects
their rights; this is Popular Sovereignty . The people elect representatives to make laws. Laws made
in the United States must follow

Play Review Of Hay Fever By Taylor Rascher
Hay Fever was a comical play with a strong message. The actors throughout this play steadily used
others to gain their own attention. The message this play left behind after many laughs was do not
use others, plain and simple.
The space was a well constructed thrust stage however, the stage was not raised off the ground and
the seats appeared to be mobile which lead to the belief that this is an Environmental Theater. As
for the layout of the stage, there was a couch and a table in center stage for the first two acts, a
door to the unseen outside front of the house upstage right, there were two large double doors
upstage center leading to the backyard garden, and a raised floor upstage left containing a piano, a

All of the family members acted genuine. There was one actor who stood out as a perfect fit for
his character. Taylor Rascher played Simon Bliss and played him perfectly. Rascher s character
Simon was a young man who was dramatic and romantic so much so it was almost to the point
of ridiculousness. Rascher stole the show in the first act when he was romancing with Michelle
Luz, who plays Myra Arundel. Rascher was displaying his love for Michelle Luz (Myra) in the
most dramatic of fashions; he was playing the Bliss game of pretending to be in complete love
with someone and then a moment later change his mind. Rascher was proclaiming his love with
elegant speeches and coddling up next to her and eventually kissing her. Rascher made this
scene particularly hilarious because he was completely over the top in typical Bliss fashion. Of
course, all of this was for naught because Luz ended up kissing Joe Hubbard s character David
Bliss in act two and also Rascher proclaimed his engagement to Caitlin Stagemoller s character,
Jackie Coryton. Rascher made his voice more shrill and audible to appear to be more dramatic and
create more attention for himself. In the same way, Rascher used grander gestures with his arms
(flailing, waving, etc.) to cause a more dramatic effect.
The play was well interpreted by all whom were involved. Steven Wrentmore, the Director, kept the
1920 s feel by dressing in all 1920 s costumes and everyone spoke as if they were living at

Social media plays an immense role in our communication between the group. Facebook is used
to view pictures and videos of the performances, and to view the itinerary for the day. Twitter is
used for the teammates to ask questions to fellow teammates if they either deem it too personal
or embarrassing for the group texts. The team uses group texts for information, to ask general
questions, send funny pictures, and basically to get to know each other and talk. We are like a
second family so it would be a bit bizarre to be around each other for at least fifteen hours a week
and not develop some type of relationship. Our methods of intercommunication qualifies my group
a discourse community. The third reason why my group is a discourse community is because we
have multiple forms of feedback to improve performance. The most utilized form of feedback are
the videos that are recorded of our performances. By recording our performances, the choreographer
and the rest of the team can view items that need to be fixed. Some examples of fixable items
include technique, counts or count structure, and performance. To perform means the dancer is
engaging with the audience, smiling (or portraying the character assigned), and having their chin

illusion that they are confident in what they are doing. Another form of feedback that is utilized are

Power Of Music Essay
Music has been around for a very long time. Music has a way of influencing each and every one
of us to do things we don t even realize we are doing. There is a big difference between the power
of music and the influence it has on today s society. The world today is not anywhere near perfect,
but musicis there to take away the pain. On the other hand, the power of music is endless. It has
the power to make a grown man break down crying or a heartbroken widow smile. It has a way
of letting someone who is hurting inside let out their feelings for the world to hear and be there
for them. There is no end to the power of music, but music cannot fix everything. Bob Marley
once said, One good thing about music. When it hits you. You feel no pain. The world today is
filled with so much hate and sorrow, and music has a way of reaching those who are down in
life. Music has endless ways to inspire and cheer up anyone. The lyrics of a song are a poem that
tells a story whether it be a love song or a rap song. If everyone would take the time of day to
listen to the lyrics they would understand and feel the music on a whole other level. Although if
someone is feelingblue, a rap song probably isn t the one for them. The melody or the instrumental
part of the song is mind blowing. Take out the words and there is just pure music. It can put
someone in a trance of just pure imagination. As Elton Johnonce said, Music has healing power. It

How The Recent Acquisition Of Sunseeker Yachts
How the Recent Acquisition of Sunseeker Yachts by Dalian Wanda affected Brand Equity

From humble beginnings, Sunseeker have evolved from being a brand, to a global icon. Producing
the finest motoryachts the world has ever seen (Sunseeker, 2015). From this statement found
plastered on Sunseeker s home page it is clear to see the position the brand wishes to occupy in the
mind of consumers. While they provide a function in the form of transport and accommodation,
their brand is evidently a symbol of luxury and the epitome of the lavish lifestyle. At the centre
of this position is the British heritage of yacht building, universally acknowledged as among the
finest in the world. Sunseeker has enjoyed a positive Country of Origin (COO) effect for
decades. However since 2013 when 91.8% of the company was acquired by Dalian Wanda Group,
a Chinese conglomerate, the brand identity and equity is at risk from poor COO associations
related to the Chinese ownership. This essay will explore, through the use of academic models and
literature as well as carefully selected aspects from Sunseeker s situation, the possible effects on
brand equity as a result of the acquisition. The main areas of discussion are; whether COO effect
plays a significant role in brand equity, the methods used by Sunseeker to control the COO effect

The Media And The Stereotypes Of Women In The Media
Every day, millions of Americans view the front covers of magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan,
and more. They see them while at grocery stores, on the television, and even in the waiting room
at a doctor s office. The media offer advertisements with models that are seemingly slim with
perfect skin, hair, and teeth. American propaganda leaves most young, adolescent girls between the
ages of 5 18 to consider that the complexity of beauty is strict to be thin and perfect, though it is
targeted to young adolescents, it does aim towards older femaleand male age ranges as well. An
article states, While the media attempt to target every person, the level of exposure is dictated by
gender, and the majority of harmful messages is focused more toward women. For instance, in
media such as magazines where a person relies on an image to relate a feeling, girls are often
made to look inferior (Chapman). When it comes to the media, specifically in the American culture,
the popularity has massively increased over the years, turning to new weekly issues, becoming
common to the society and civilization. This causes issues associated with eating disorders,

My Experience In A Restaurant
Looking back, I can still recall the countless days that I spent in my family s restaurant. For
twelve hours every single day of the week, I spent the majority of my time alone at a corner
table. My mom was always occupied with leading the stream of faces, pouring through the doors,
to their tables and attending to their needs. On the other hand, my dad would be busy operating
the large woks, rounded cooking pans, over scorching red flames in order to keep the food trays
in front of the kitchen doors filled. Even though my parents were always around me, I had to spend
most of my timeby myself. I would spend the dull lengthy periods I had doodling on menus,
building with Legos and crafting action figures out of eating utensils and rubber bands. Although
I came up with many activities to shorten the long days, my constantly changing thirst for
entertainment could not be quenched. I remembered one day; I ran into the back of the
restaurant to complain to my dad. I told him that the parents of other kids have jobs as well, yet
they still spend time with their kids. and, it was not fair for me to have my parents to say that
they were too busy to see my drawings and praise my creations. Fatigued and sweaty, my dad
briefly stepped back from the heat of the woks and said, make use of the opportunities that you
have now so that you won t regret it in the future. Not surprisingly, I was a dumb little kid and I
stormed out of the kitchen with clenched fists, teary eyes, red face

A Time Travelers Guide
Fast forward to the year 2120 and you re the number one scientist in the world developing cutting
edge technology in the fields of genetics as well as time and space travel. Everyone has doubted
your efforts up to this point but you know that today will be the day. You re hoping that the
plugs and wires will line up just right and when the clock strikes 12:00 AM you ll be on your
way to having a glance into the rich history of the Renaissance era dating back 600 plus years.
Today will be the day that you travel through time and space to prove every doubt wrong and to
prove that we don t know just as much as we think we do.
First, let me give you a little bit of background on the Renaissance era and why it was a significant
movement for the development of literature, architecture, and art. The Renaissance originated in
Italy but then spread to other European countries because of its modern influence and change. It
can be attributed to introducing artistic styles that the world had never seen before therefore, its
influence spread rapidly. Furthermore, the movements that we ll be looking at involve the stylistic
changes and influences of architecture that occurred from the 15th to 17th centuries. We ll be
interacting with Renaissance sculptors and painters such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and
Andrea Palladio.
Furthermore, the clock strikes 12:00 AM and you pull the lever not

With all the companies that I have invested my money in I have set up a profile on

that you can create a profile with how much shares you bought, the date and how much per share.
Once this information is entered it will let you know how much money you have lost that day. For

Group Participation and Interaction Explored in 12 Angry Men
Stop for a moment and think how many times have you said I ll kill you to a person and actually
killed that person? Two times? Three times? We all know that the answer is never unless of
course you re actually a killer. This is what might or might not have happened with the boy who
was accused of killing his father in the movie 12 Angry Men. Firstly, let s consider on the title of
the movie itself which says 12 Angry Men. Twelve is indicating the number of group members,
angry is indicating the state of their temper, and men indicating their gender. So the title of the
movie strongly connects to the name of the class Group Communication Studies because both
involve a group, a goal and communication among the group members in order... Show more

Taking other juror s characters into consideration, Jury number 2 and Jury number 12 are a
complete contrast to Jury number 8. They both are hesitant in taking their stance. Especially Jury
number 12 repeatedly changes his decision depending on what the aggressive members were
wanting him to say. Jury number 3 was the most aggressive of all the 12 men. There was
something not so appealing yet very interesting about his personality. He was so single minded
that he not only disagreed to what others said, but was also willing to ask them to shut up and
just say guilty. His aggressive behavior gives us a reason to think that he might have a bad
relation with his son, which he actually had and reveals the story at the end. Jury number 7 has
a completely different approach. He wants the discussions to end soon because he has got more
important things to do in his life rather than having a look at the evidence s that could help to
save someone s life. According to Benne and Sheats Functional Group Goals, Jury number 7 is
an example of a deserter. Deserter is a person who withdraws from the group; appears above it all
and bored or annoyed with the discussion; remains aloof or stops contributing ( Engleberg and
Wynn 55). A deserter can also be called a self centered person. Jury number 8 seems an initiator
contributor, who proposes ideas and suggestions; provides direction for the group; gets the group

How Micro Transactions Can Use For Play And Paid Games Are...
Micro transactions
Background
The use of micro transactions in free to play and paid games are the norm nowadays. The different
types of micro transactions in games can range from simple color changes, buffs, buying items, and
account transfers. The concept behind micro transactions is to let the consumer choose what they
want, and it lets the developer earn extra money on the side. The problem with using micro
transaction in games is that the developers will stop making good games, and instead make games
revolve around the necessity of using micro transactions (Rybicki, 2006).
Revenue
The amount of money a free to play game earns will shock most people. According to SuperData,
a marketing intelligence firm, Riot Games in 2013 earned $624 million from League of Legends
(Jarvey, 2014). League of Legends is a free to play game that has micro transaction. The appeal of
generating money through micro transactions in gaming are stronger than ever with profits
reported by the likes of Riot Games. The following chart shows the top ten online free to play
game revenues for 2013.
Figure 1: Top 10 Online Games, Based on Free to Play (Tassi, 2014)
Price of gaming
History
The age of playing on the video game console was thought to end in recent years, but strong need
for console gaming is still in demand. The Sony Playstation 4 has sold over 20 million, while
Microsoft and Nintendo have sold half that amount. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are projected to
earn over $15

  • 2. Food Taboos Food Taboos Would You Eat Breast Milk Cheese? (Hamm, 2010). I have shown this headline to multiple people and have received the same reaction from everyone. Most of these people I work with at a daycare. We all handle and serve breast milk on a daily basis. Also we watch mothers nurse their infants. Yet, the reaction did not surprise me, even with this comfort level with human breast milk. This reaction falls along the line of disgust and shock. One person even reacted with a sharp reply of I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT! There is something about the thought of consuming human breast milk that makes people squirm. Two documentaries airing on the National Geographic Channel this week examine delicacies and taboo foods around the globe, revealing that what s good or bad is all a matter of taste. (National Geographic). This is only one of the channels that covers this topic on a regular occasion (I would use the word basis); there are many more that cover every kind of taboo in the world. Culture forms as sense of who we are in the larger community in which we exist among. This connection shapes the rules we follow to exist to peacefully live with one another. The culture we grow up in shapes our relationship with food. For better or worse, depending on if we accept and live up to the cultural norms presented to us. For those who choose to not follow them will be faced with consequences for rejecting theses norms. For me, the sub culture of my family in the United States has had a major impact of what food taboos I hold. I was raised on a very limited palate of food diversity and was rarely challenged to try new or unique food. This is only made worse by having Asperger s Syndrome, which, causes sensory issues related to food. It can relate to any of the senses related to eating or cooking. As a result, I do not enjoy eating as a general rule and do not derive pleasure from it. The reason why this is true: is that I am very picky and eating is challenging for me. This taboo can affect me socially. Our society in the United States, places ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Essay Fried Pataters Mr. Hahn Phil 2310 10 May 2010 Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Aristotle and Rita Manning both have different theories when it comes to ethics. Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning uses what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim towards the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons governing the desires of the soul. Manning on the other hand believes that moral actions extend from people caring for one another on a personal level. By developing the ability to care for others, people become morally aware of how to act in certain situations. When the question of: how ought I live my life? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then there are the two extreme ends of the states of character which is superhuman virtue and brutishness. Superhuman virtue is displaying virtuous character in every case including extreme situations. On the opposite end, brutishness is absent of reason and the desires are so morbidly wrong that the actions are morbidly wrong as a result. Aristotle feels people should strive for the superhuman virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly difficult, being virtuous or continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics is referred to as ethics of caring. She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being disposition to care. Disposition to care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give the lucid attention required to appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The disposition deals with a commitment to caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that humans are obligated to care for not only the needs of others, but also what is required for the needs of others. A great example is sending beef to India after a natural disaster. By sending provisions, people are showing they care but they fail to realize that Hindu people do not eat beef. Instead, people should learn more about the people they are helping so that they can send provisions that will do the most good. Incorrectly using Darwin s theory of evolution, the Social Darwinists believed that some species were morally superior to others, and even some races superior to others ADDIN EN.CITE Johnson200813(Johnson)13136Johnson, D.P.The Historical Background of Social DarwinismContemporary Sociological Theories2008New YorkSpringer ( HYPERLINK l _ENREF_4 o Johnson, 2008 #13 Johnson). Public perception, though, believes in favor of seeing race as a reason for crime, and having a considerable fear of anyone outside their own ethnic group depending on the situation. Similarly, much so called organized crime, amounting to billions of dollars annually has similar stereotypes of ethnic origin (e.g. Mafia La Costa Nostra, Russian Mafia, Chinese Triads, Mexican Mafia, etc.). Still, over the past few decades, at least since the Rodney King beating, the use of race by law enforcement, and then after 9/11 by Homeland security, has received considerable political and media attention. One is agog, for instance, at the number of traffic stops that seem to target certain drivers, or the amount of arrests for similar situations focused on minorities. We must remember, too, that racial profiling, or stereotyping, is nothing new for centuries, cultures have looked to the other for excuses to go to war, to incarcerate, or to find reason for authoritarian behavior. For effective software testing valid and suitable test data generation is necessary. Now a day s valid test data generation for a software/program using heuristic algorithms is major concern for research. Several heuristics algorithms have been studied and it is observed that genetic algorithm is most suitable and efficient in automated test data generation. In this paper test case data generation using genetic algorithms proposed. The genetic algorithm is applied to generate valid test data for a mathematical problem. • 6. The Iranian Revolution Of 1979 Essay The Iranian Revolution, also known as the Islamic Revolution of 1979 took place in Iran. It is when Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi the emperor of Iran during that time, was overthrown by the revolutionary forces led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and thereafter established the Islamic National Republic of Iran. The Iranian Revolutionbrought a big change into the international community and how it viewed revolutions. As Iran s revolution lacked many of the fundamental causes that were though to give rise to revolutions. It was unusual in the sense that it had no agrarian pattern. As the traditional social structure was maintained after the revolution and it reinstated old structure as the Muslim clergy came into power. To understand what led to the Iranian Revolution of 1979, we need to look back into the Iranian history and the timeline leading up to the revolution. In doing so, we can use the psychological theories of revolution and structural functionalist theories of revolution in order to analyses and explain the cause of the Iranian Revolution. Iran is a country with majority of its population being Shia Muslims, it is a splinter branch of Islam where it is believed that only Muhammad s descendants can lead the faithful. Many evolutionary psychologists have stated that self esteem is an adaptive mechanism (Bale, 2013, p. 69) and Bale found that self perceived physical attractiveness, which is strongly related to self esteem, has clear implications for romantic desirability (Bale, 2013, p. 70). In his study, Bale hypothesized and found evidence supporting a relationship between self perceived facial attractiveness and self esteem that was significantly stronger in women (Bale, 2013, p. 70). Campbell Miller (2011) suggest that narcissism emerged as a variation of trait dominance through changes in mating preferences towards short term mating (as cited in Barnett Sharp, 2017, p. 327) which can greatly play a part in the romantic desirability of a mate. Not only do these findings identify a relationship between evolutionary mechanisms and personality traits we see today (Buss, 2005, as cited in Barnett Sharp, 2017, p. 331) but identifying these evolutionary mechanisms may explain different manifestations of narcissism in men and women (Barnett Sharp, 2017, p. ... Wilson worked to win the Senates consent of the Treaty of Versailles when he returned to America in July of 1919. • 11. The Theory And The Neurocognitive Theory The field of psychology has been working hard to understand what dreams are, why we have them, and what they mean. In this paper, I am going to use four different theories to analyze a dream I had. Some of these theories disagree with the other, but in my opinion they all have their strong points. Freud s Theory, the Activation Synthesis Theory, the Problem Solving theory, and the Neurocognitive theory, are the four theories dominating the field right now, and will be the four I will use to further understand my dream. My dream started in a very rural country side, corn growing in fields around me. In the beginning, I was alone standing by an old metal RV. Then, a spaceship landed right in front of the corn fields. A door opened to two creatures I had never seen before; aliens. All of a sudden, I have a little blond girl around the age of 5 or 6 holding my hand looking very scared and my best friend to the left of me. The aliens summoned me over and I walked to them with the little girl. They told me they wanted the girl and in return would bring me fortune. I handed her over to them and they gave me a box. I started walking back to the RV where my friend was, but I stopped and turned around to see the girl walking into the ship, making eye contact with her and feeling immense guilt. But, I turned around and showed my friend the gift that would make me a fortune, which turned out to be an inflatable spaceship photo booth. I was very happy and started to plan the future I ... He knew his mother would not like to see him go to war, but it was his decision to make. He dreamed of the exciting battles of war and the thrill of marching. At first he feels he was a stupid coward for running, then he feels he was just saving himself for later. He felt nature didn t want him to die, even though his side is losing. He believes he was intelligent for running and yet hopes he will die in battle just for spite. In returning to the fields, he met the tattered soldier, wounded and retreating. In the next charge, Henry and the tattered soldier see Jim, also wounded, die a slow and painful death. After Jim s death, the tattered soldier questions Henry on his wounds and Henry, reaping his actions from selfish fear, leaves the tattered man alone on the battlefield, dying, and dangerous to himself. • 17. Abolish Of The Electoral College The abolishment of the electoral college has been a highly debated political topic since it was first established by our founding fathers. The Electoral College is a voting system that was put in place by the founding fathers back in 1787. When voters casts their ballots, they are actually voting for the presidential electors. Each state is guaranteed at least 3 electoral votes. The number of electors a state has is equivalent to the number of representatives they have plus the 2 seats in Senate. In total there are 538 electoral votes; including the 3 from D.C. electors. However the Presidential candidates need at least 270 votes to win the election. However, this electoral system has created quite an uproar among people since the last election. The electoral collegehas limited democracy to people in three major ways: by having the ability to alter results of the election over the popular vote, discriminating candidates to campaign in certain states, and subsidize the decline in voter turnout. The electoral college has made it possible for presidential candidates to win the popular vote but not the electoral college. This indicates that if a candidate is leading the their opponent by millions of votes, he or she can still lose the election due to the opposing candidate getting more votes from the smaller states in the electoral college. • 18. Sunlight And Sunlight Sunlight and shade can have effects on how the way turf grasses and weeds grow in lawns. Sunlight is make ultraviolet radiation, and certain types of UV radiation can cause harm to turf gasses by. Ultraviolet radiation all depends on what wavelengths the turf grasses can handle, the wavelengths average from 400 280nm (Huylenbroeck and Bockstaele, 2001). Turf grasses start to form adaptations to help survive in these conditions, by producing high amounts of chlorophyll, and having other characteristics change to help better preform in the conditions. Shade is also a benefactor when it comes to the turf grasses health. With excessive amounts of shade, objects are preventing the turf to get the nutrients it needs from the sunlightto survive. Without the nutrients the turf will start to obtain smaller roots, reduced shoots, and be introduced to diseases (Busey and Davis, 1991). Shade can also be preventing water access to the turf grass. Types of grass are considered to be shade tolerable like the fine fescues, and the rough bluegrass (Harper, 2013). The conditions of where turf grass is found in order to maintain its health. Sunlight includes ultraviolet radiation, which can harm turf grass. Ultraviolet radiation is split into three different categories based on their wavelengths, UV A, UV B, and UV C. UV A has a wave length of 400 315nm, and is the least harmful to turf grass. UV B has a wave length of 315 280nm, and is responsible for getting through the ozone layer and is the most harmful UV light to turf grass. UV C has a wavelength of 100 280nm, but this wavelength never reaches the earth. The smaller the wavelength the more energy, and radiation with higher energy can penetrate deeper into the cells, causing more damage (Huylenbroeck and Bockstaele, 2001). Over exposure to ultraviolet radiation can be harmful to grasses and weeds, by damaging the grasses DNA, its proteins, lipids and membranes. With over exposure to ultraviolet radiation, grasses can undergo mutations when reproducing. Mutations are however, mostly negative, inhibiting vital cellular processes (DNA transcription and replication) and resulting in disturbed cellular function, sometimes even cell death (Busey and Davis, 1991). They also make fun of amputees, this can be very harmful to the way children interact with other kids that have this kind of problem example Joe is Peter Griffins neighbour and there is an episode that says no legs no service. Also, this show is a very sexist show, they always make reference to women being in the kitchen and that is all they re good at for example, in one episode peter tells Louis that making sandwiches and babies are the only thing she is good for. This kind of behaviour shows to young children that women are no good for anything because that is how the men on this show treat the women. There s also lots of coarse language towards women, for example Quagmire a neighbours always has many women over to his house for pleasurable reasons and you hear him call them names like whores, bitches, sluts and more this foul language towards women is another bad influence. Also peter has a teenage daughter Meg, everyone in the show is mean to her. This girl is treated very badly for example in an episode she had sexual intercourse with a guy and a little after that the guy Brandon, broke up with her, in another episode she has another boyfriend Luke and Louis, her mother stole ... Vincent could be in a moment of excitement and then in a moment of depression and sadness. There were multiple moments that impacted Vincent s life. He traveled to many places to work and never saw hope in life until he met and fell in love with Ursula ( who was his landlady s daughter). When Vincent gained enough courage, he avowed his love for her and also asked her to marry him. She laughed claiming she was already engaged and Vincent, after hearing this, became heartbroken and returned to his depressing state with the belief that there is no hope in life. Furthermore, Vincent was mentally challenged, he became fixated and close to God and the bible. It behooved him to become a pastor like his father, and so he did. He wanted to send God s message to the crowd in sermons but became too obsessed. Vincent had a fervent sense of vocation but was handicapped by his instability, his excessive zeal and exaggeration he displayed in everything he took up. Sandburg had seen action and injustice throughout his childhood and while he served his nation in the Army (Leslie). Sandburg knew how bad things already were for America and then when The Great Depression came, the situation became worse. The Great Depression affected him as well as millions of other Americans (Smith and Thomason 2). This is revealed in his writing through his choice of diction and imagery. Every country has ruled by a governance structure. There are different kinds of government. This comparison is about the United States and Guatemala s forms of government. United States system has its foundation on an agreement between the people and the government to ensure that individual liberties continue to prosper under a free society. The Declaration of Independence lists three important rights that the Founding Fathers considered natural and unalienable. They are the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Government exists to protect these rights. On other hand, the purpose of Guatemala s government, according to the Guatemala s Constitution, is to promote the common welfare, the consolidation of the regime of legality, security, equality, justice, liberty and peace. Both countries have its foundation on democracy; nevertheless, there are specific characteristics that mark a difference between them. First, United States Constitution establishes a system of government named representative democracy . In a representative democracy or indirect democracy, the power to govern comes from the people, who have the highest power. • 32. Play Review Of Hay Fever By Taylor Rascher Hay Fever was a comical play with a strong message. The actors throughout this play steadily used others to gain their own attention. The message this play left behind after many laughs was do not use others, plain and simple. The space was a well constructed thrust stage however, the stage was not raised off the ground and the seats appeared to be mobile which lead to the belief that this is an Environmental Theater. As for the layout of the stage, there was a couch and a table in center stage for the first two acts, a door to the unseen outside front of the house upstage right, there were two large double doors upstage center leading to the backyard garden, and a raised floor upstage left containing a piano, a bookcase and a door ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the family members acted genuine. There was one actor who stood out as a perfect fit for his character. Taylor Rascher played Simon Bliss and played him perfectly. Rascher s character Simon was a young man who was dramatic and romantic so much so it was almost to the point of ridiculousness. Rascher stole the show in the first act when he was romancing with Michelle Luz, who plays Myra Arundel. Rascher was displaying his love for Michelle Luz (Myra) in the most dramatic of fashions; he was playing the Bliss game of pretending to be in complete love with someone and then a moment later change his mind. Rascher was proclaiming his love with elegant speeches and coddling up next to her and eventually kissing her. Rascher made this scene particularly hilarious because he was completely over the top in typical Bliss fashion. Of course, all of this was for naught because Luz ended up kissing Joe Hubbard s character David Bliss in act two and also Rascher proclaimed his engagement to Caitlin Stagemoller s character, Jackie Coryton. Rascher made his voice more shrill and audible to appear to be more dramatic and create more attention for himself. In the same way, Rascher used grander gestures with his arms (flailing, waving, etc.) to cause a more dramatic effect. The play was well interpreted by all whom were involved. The team uses group texts for information, to ask general questions, send funny pictures, and basically to get to know each other and talk. We are like a second family so it would be a bit bizarre to be around each other for at least fifteen hours a week and not develop some type of relationship. Our methods of intercommunication qualifies my group a discourse community. The third reason why my group is a discourse community is because we have multiple forms of feedback to improve performance. The most utilized form of feedback are the videos that are recorded of our performances. By recording our performances, the choreographer and the rest of the team can view items that need to be fixed. Some examples of fixable items include technique, counts or count structure, and performance. There is a big difference between the power of music and the influence it has on today s society. The world today is not anywhere near perfect, but musicis there to take away the pain. On the other hand, the power of music is endless. It has the power to make a grown man break down crying or a heartbroken widow smile. It has a way of letting someone who is hurting inside let out their feelings for the world to hear and be there for them. There is no end to the power of music, but music cannot fix everything. Bob Marley once said, One good thing about music. When it hits you. You feel no pain. The world today is filled with so much hate and sorrow, and music has a way of reaching those who are down in life. Music has endless ways to inspire and cheer up anyone. The lyrics of a song are a poem that tells a story whether it be a love song or a rap song. If everyone would take the time of day to listen to the lyrics they would understand and feel the music on a whole other level. Although if someone is feelingblue, a rap song probably isn t the one for them. The melody or the instrumental part of the song is mind blowing. Take out the words and there is just pure music. On the other hand, my dad would be busy operating the large woks, rounded cooking pans, over scorching red flames in order to keep the food trays in front of the kitchen doors filled. Even though my parents were always around me, I had to spend most of my timeby myself. I would spend the dull lengthy periods I had doodling on menus, building with Legos and crafting action figures out of eating utensils and rubber bands. Although I came up with many activities to shorten the long days, my constantly changing thirst for entertainment could not be quenched. I told him that the parents of other kids have jobs as well, yet they still spend time with their kids. and, it was not fair for me to have my parents to say that they were too busy to see my drawings and praise my creations. Fatigued and sweaty, my dad briefly stepped back from the heat of the woks and said, make use of the opportunities that you have now so that you won t regret it in the future.
