Identifying the risk, quantitative risk assessment, and qualitative risk assessment are used in
evaluating the risk.
Quantitative risk assessment Measures the risk by relating the probability of the risk occurring to the
possible severity of the outcome and then giving the risk a numerical value. The likelihood depends on
the control measures of the place, while the severity depends on magnitude of hazard. [4]
Qualitative risk assessment This is based on personal judgement and is normally defined as high,
medium or low. This kind of assessment is usually satisfactory since the definition whether high,
medium or low determines the time frame in which further action is to be taken. High risk situations
need to be addressed in days, medium risk in weeks and low risks in months. [4]
Record Observations A formal reporting procedure needs to be implemented and incorporated into the
current risk assessment reporting procedures. The significant hazards and conclusions need to be
recorded for the assessment to be suitable and sufficient.

Vanguard Mutual Fund Evaluation
FIN/420
1/26/2014
The Vanguard Group The Vanguard Group offers an array of mutual funds, exchange traded funds,
brokerage, and asset management. When choosing and comparing mutual funds, there are
characteristics that you need to first evaluate. This paper will review five different categories of
mutual funds that Vanguard Group offers its investors.
Actively Managed Common Stock Fund The Selected Value (ticker VASVX) is an actively managed
common stock fund with a 4 star Morningstar rating with a minimum investment of $3,000. This fund
does not have a front or rear load fee. The total annual fund operating expenses are 0.41% which
means that for every $100 you invest, $.41 goes to paying the ... Show more content on

The funds asset allocation will become more conservative over time, meaning that the percentage of
assets allocated to stocks will decrease while the percentage of assets allocated to bonds and other
fixed income investments will increase. This investment is superb for long term investors like myself.
The fund inception occurred on October 27, 2003, and has been managed by Michael Buek since
2014. The fund inception date tells us that the mutual fund has been around for 23 years and the fund
manager for one year. This fund has been up for ten years and down for one year which tells us that
the new manager may have not been the correct choice.
International Fund Developed Markets Index Admiral Share (ticker VTMGX) is a Vanguard
International Fund with a 3 star Morningstar rating and a $3,000 minimum balance. This fund does
not have a front or rear load fee. The total annual fund operating expenses are 0.06% which means that
for every dollar that you invest, $.06 goes to paying the person who sold you the fund. The expense
ratio is also low at 0.09%. According to Best Vanguard Index Funds 2014 (2009 2015), the index fund
provides investors low cost diversified exposure to developed foreign markets. The fund invests in
companies located in Europe, Asia, and Australia, which make up 75% of the non U.S. equity market

Communication Patterns of Children During Conflict Essay...
As we grow up, we are socialized into the proper norms to be successful in society. The socialization
process starts right from birth. Babies observe and try to mimic their parents and eventually their
siblings or peers. Conflict is a part of life that children need to use to develop skills on resolving
disagreements; conflict is not always bad. Peer conflict, however, can lead to aggressive behavior
because of significant emotional and physical harm. Many youth lack the social skills needed to
handle their aggravation.
Peer conflict communicates joint disagreement or aggression between peers or peer groups. Peer
conflict is characterized as conflict between people of equal or similar power also known as friends.
These types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adults mediate children s interaction and in doing so adults need to learn the necessary tools to
helping our children handle conflict. In school and at home, it is important to help develop social
skills. Skills such as building friendships, emotional regulation, problem solving, and being supportive
are best learned at an elementary school age. Children are taught what is socially acceptable through
reward and consequence. Once children reach adolescents age, it is best to teach conflict resolution
techniques. By implementing peer mediation, the children learn how to recognize a conflict and learn
how to resolve a conflict on their own. At the middle and high school age level, it is also important to
practice respectful and positive behaviors. At this age adolescents are going through hormonal
changes and if adults focus on practicing positive respectful behaviors the habits will form and the
child will have the natural skills to interact at an adult level.
Focusing on the individual, factors of peer conflict like problem solving, self regulation, and language
are linked with youth who engage in aggressive behaviors toward their peers. The International
Journal of Language Communication Disorders, Interaction Before Conflict and Conflict Resolution
in Pre School Boys with Language Impairment, addresses the factors associated with peer conflict.
The authors of this article explain that children with language

A Modern Day Minstrel Show
It is clear that our country s criminal justice system is the new Jim Crow; with a huge majority of
felons being African American, it is obvious that people of color have it harder when it comes to crime
sentences. We must acknowledge that mass incarceration and the Jim Crow era are greatly similar.
Minstrel shows, which showed black men to be lazy, dumb, and clownish, once justified the
oppression of african americans. Many now believe that gangsta rap does just the same and is the
modern day minstrel show, by portraying blacks to be drug dealers, angry, and violent men. Though
many people believe that gangsta rap reinforces these stereotypes, it s important for one to realize that
this form of expression is not a modern day version of blackface performances.
Blackface performances were popular in American theaters for roughly 100 years, beginning around
the 1830 s. In 1950 s blackface minstrel shows, white and black performers were not able to share the
stage therefore they opted to paint their faces black with polish. These black characters were always
portrayed as either villains or comedic. Blackface had been used to make arguments for slavery and
why African Americans should not be given full human rights. These are narratives created by white
men that were made to oppress and dehumanize an entire race of people. The minstrel show clip titled

Genocide In Sarajevo

Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Austrian heir, and his beloved wife Sophie, the duchess of Hohenburg,
were shot and killed today by a Bosnian Serb nationalist during their official visit to Sarajevo, the
capital of
Bosnia.
Prior to his visit to Sarajevo, the Archduke received multiple warnings to cancel the trip, however he
still departed.
This morning, as Ferdinand and his wife were on their way to a reception at the town hall of Sarajevo

As the cars attempted to reverse back out onto the Appel Quay, Princip pulled out his pistol and fired
two shots into the direction of the Archduke and his wife. The first shot struck the duchess in the
lower abdomen, as the second shot struck the neck of the heir, piercing the Jugular vein. The duchess

The SARA Model Process
The example I will be giving would be: An officer could use the SARA model process in various
different situations; one such situation could be a where there was a huge amount of break ins within
this particular neighborhood. The first step in the SARA model is scanning. This would be the step in
which the problem would be identified. A police officer would take a look at the crime data to make
sure that the number of break ins in this specific neighborhood is a really high associated to the nearby
neighborhoods. This would be important because the officer would have to make sure that this is a real
problem for this neighborhood.
The second step would be analysis. This is where the police officer would try to decide what could be

Brunswick High. Emergency Procedures
Brunswick High
Emergency Procedures are located in the Policies and Procedures section. They are divided into 4
sections: Fire Safety Guidelines, Emergency Drills, Response to a Violent Incident (can be a student
disruption), and a crisis policy. The fire safety guidelines were more about the type of equipment that
could be used in the classroom, while emergency drills were broken into fire drills and tornado drills.
Similarities and Differences
The similarities between Goodyear Elementary and Brunswick High were the fact that:
Both had a section in the handbook for emergency procedures that included fire drills, tornadoes,
procedures for death, suicide, and major student disruptions/response to violent incidents, and crisis
information
Copies of the Glynn County Emergency Procedure and exit routes are posted in the classrooms, and
Emergency procedures are explained on the first day of school.
While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated that
more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff
Handbook). What s strange is that although a crisis management plan has been created, fire drills were
not better described nor mentioned all; not even the sound signal to look for. In the event of a fire,
younger students usually need more attention to care and calm down. Therefore, it would have been
helpful to cover fire procedures more thoroughly. In the high school handbook, the

The Reign Of King Louis XIV Of France
Louis XIV of France, born in September 5, 1638, became the king when he was only four years old,
after his father s death. He ruled for 72 years and died on September 1, 1715, so he lived longer than
any other European ruler. During his reign, Louis transformed the monarchy, marked a new golden
age of arts and literature, and made his country the most powerful on the continent until the War of the
Spanish. In 1648, a civil war known as The Fronde , began and the royal family had to leave Paris.
Louis chief minister could stop the revolt in 1652 and by the end of the decade, he restored order and
made a peace treaty with Spain, making France a powerful European leader. The Fronde resulted in

oversale of lifetime partnerships be classified as a subsequent event?
Yes the oversale of lifetime partnerships should be classified as a subsequent event because the audit
report was dual dated August 31,1984 and October 24,1984. Deloitte argued that the oversale occurred
shortly after the May 31,1984 fiscal year end. However since the audit report was dual dated Deloitte
had the opportunity to classify the oversale as a subsequent event, even though it was after year end. b.
Should Deloitte have evaluated the sales occurring after the balance sheet date of May 31,1984?
Yes. Deloitte should have evaluated the sales occurring after the balance sheet date of May 31,1984.
Since Deloitte admitted that an oversale occurred shortly after the end of the fiscal year, it is their

Food Waste
Hunger is one of the key problems in the world today. Not just in small portions of the world, but all
over. Americans today rely on our food system and take the amount of food we have for granted. What
Americans aren t realizing, is that every piece of food we throw away, a child is starving somewhere
else. Not only are we wasting the food we buy, but 40 percent is just going to waste. Newsweek,
Bonnie Tsui, magazine publisher says, Forty percent of all food is never eaten, and this rejection of
ugly food the misshapen or imperfect produce that gets thrown out before it ever hits the supermarket
display is a major contributor to food waste. Americans have too many options when it comes to
picking out their produce. If it doesn t look clean enough, they choose another one. America wastes a
ton of food every day, instead of focusing on which produce looks better to eat, we should be focusing
on cutting down the amount of food we waste and saving money. Will our issue with food waste ever
change? What is a solution to changing the amount of food we waste a year? School today are
teaching kids that it is okay to dispose any leftover food we don t finish. Jonathan Bloom an author of

Shlossberg Transition Theory
Part III: My Theory as it Relates to Other Theories When comparing student trailblazer theory to
other, popular student development theories, I find that Schlossberg s transition theory is related to the
different phases students will go through as they proceed through their collegiate careers. According to
this theory, events, both anticipated an unanticipated, as well as non events can play a role that results
in changed relationships, routines, assumptions and roles (Patton, Renn, Guido, Quaye, 2016). When
applying Schlossberg s theory to student trailblazer theory, I believe the phases with the greatest level
of transition include the shift from the college entry phase to the vulnerability phase, the shift from the
initial defining phase to the rebuilding phase, and the transition phase. However, in contrast to
Schlossberg s transition theory, student trailblazer theory emphasizes any transitions as an opportunity
for growth. For instance, although both transition theory and student trailblazer theory can be used to
explain my experiences when I lost my friends to graduation and got a new coach, student trailblazer
theory assumes that students will have the support in place to overcome any obstacles. Furthermore, as
a student progresses through each phase, they are expected to use their previous experiences to build
off of their development.
Additionally, when Bjornsen Dinkel (2017) apply transition theory to the difficulties student athletes

Benefits Of Promotional Items Are Most Effective
Which Promotional Items Are Most Effective
There are literally thousands of choices when it comes to promotional products, however, some items
are definitely more effective than other, statistically. Surprisingly, it is not the cost of the item that is
most important, but the usefulness. The rule of thumb is know your audience . When you give items
that your target audience is likely to use, your chances of a successful promotion increase
dramatically. While research shows that the most popular products of the day are thumb drives,
aluminum sports bottles, reusable grocery bags, and anything golf related, green, or American made, it
is more important to address your niche than to follow the crowd. Some popular product choices in
several categories include:
Bags: Bags range from inexpensive plastic totes to swag bags, sports bags, backpacks, messenger
bags, laptop cases, and purses.
Business items: Business card holders, laptop sleeves, USB drives, pens (especially good quality
pens), and highlighters fall in this category.
Desk Accessories: Calendars (especially with a photo holder), laser pointers, picture frames, and desk
caddies are all high use items.
Apparel: Dress shirts, golf shirts, t shirt, caps, hats, socks, gloves, sweat bands, and even aprons...
Since one of the main components of promotional products is brand association, you want your brand
associated with quality. You also want your products to be used, remembered, and even re gifted.

Cause Of Major Depressive Disorder
Aetiology
The exact causes of major depressive disorder are extremely complex and cannot be attributed to a
single genetic, social, environmental or developmental theory. It is a multifactorial and heterogeneous
disorder involving several factors which are simultaneously linked to the development or precipitation
of the disorder. The symptoms which are linked to the disorder reflect changes in the monoamine
neurotransmitters of the brain, more specifically noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamine. Variations in
the genes which are responsible for encoding serotonin transporter proteins account for early
childhood experiences being translated into an increased risk of major depressive disorder through
stress sensitivity in adulthood.

can affect whether or not an employee is satisfied or dissatisfied with their employer or scope of
employment. Workplace attitudes can be triggered by many different components based on
interactions, situations, and preferences. Valves and attitudes should mean something to an
organization. After all, they will affect all levels of the organization. As long as I can remember, I have
been the type of employee who goes above and beyond the job description because of my overzealous
desire to help others and loyalty to those I find worth extending it to. This can lead to a detrimental
attitude towards the workplace if the decision makers who are also benefactors of said loyal hard work
do not appreciate one s efforts. When a person proves their worth is made to feel unappreciated it can
trigger feelings, beliefs, intensions and can result in job dissatisfaction and Affective components or
the feelings about workplace situations play a major role in view of my current workplace. When the

In regards to the DACA and DAPA programs, President Obama spoke about the U.S being a nation of

search of safety.
There was a record number of unaccompanied child migrants from Guatemala, Honduras, and El
Salvador apprehended at the U.S. Mexico border the summer of 2014. These young people hoped to
flee from violence, and poverty affecting their countries. This wave of migrants garnered a lot of
attention due to the fact that in the first half of 2014, more than 57,000 children arrived in the U.S.
This was more than twice the number of arrivals as the ones that made it to the U.S. Mexico border in
all of the fiscal year of 2013.
Migrant children over the years have have made up and continue to make up a large portion of the

immigration law and procedure is as absent of a child centered structure as our history is. History and
law pay little attention to the immigrant child s voice and future. An unique exception of this is that
many unaccompanied migrant children in the U.S. can gain permanent residency through a Special

country. Created in 1990, SIJ status allows petitioners who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned

My Favorite Sport Essay
If you can imagine one thing and one thing only that can change a way a person feels, how they think,
and how they live, what would that thing be? For me I really couldn t answer that question, as a little
kid who s only thought was to have fun, all I cared about was playing video games and watching
cartoons. One day, my cousins came over to my house asking if they could watch something on the
TV, I said sure, so they turned on the TV and put on a documentary. At first I was disinterested and
wanted to go back to my usual habits, but I stayed and watched, I realized that the documentary
contained the answer to my question and that answer was sports. Out of all the sports, basketball
became my guidance, it spoke to me in a way where it wasn t just an interest, but a window of
discovering who I am, what I love, and what I want to become. In that window of time I would watch
every basketball game and practice my skills as a player. Watching NBA players give their hearts out
to the game of basketball brought me joy as well as the confidence and determination to play and
improve my skills to be just like them. My favorite player was Kobe Bryant because he would play
every game at the highest level he could play at and he had a killer work ethic that a person would
only dream of having. I would set an alarm at 10 a.m. to wake up and start practicing because all I
wanted was to be the best at something that means so much to me.

Zimbabwe s Struggle For Human Rights Abuses
Introduction In the modern diamond market, there is a plethora of minerals waiting to be mined.
Within Africa s southern region, Zimbabwe has found diamonds to be a vital commodity in sustaining
the country. In order to reach these minerals, mining companies must find a steady supply of labor to
mine and sort the diamonds before they are later sold rough in wholesale to dealers, distributed to be
cut, polished, and turned into jewelry at manufacturing plants, and marketed by retailers to finally be
sold to customers. (Levin, 2014, p.24). Zimbabwe s main mine is Marange Field, a mine run by the
government that handles unofficial conflict diamonds diamonds used to finance rebellious wars.
(Nicholas, 2012, p.650) Although technically conflict free under the Kimberly Process, Zimbabwe
over the past 15 years has continued to commit human rights abuses. Allowed by Zimbabwe s
government influence and the high supply of desperate families living in poverty available to mine for
the precious gems, a thriving international industry emerged. This control of desperation allows
producers of Marange Fields to use forced labor within the supply chain. (Baker, 2015, p. 65)
Although Zimbabwe is by the United Nations definition providing conflict free diamonds, it is evident
that individuals are being trafficked and abused in the mining stage of production. Research reveals
systematic methodologies of trafficking within the Marange Fields mine and how regulations within

where individuality and creativity come to die. He wrote an essay that explains his belief further that
is titled, School is bad for Children. Holt uses several rhetorical devices and logical fallacies such as
generalizations stereotypes, making assumptions, and either or fallacy that weakens his argument
One element that diminishes Holt s essay is generalizations. He tries to use generalizations to make it
appear as though school is an evil place that needs to be saved. For instance, he says, Almost every
child, on the first day he sets foot in a school building, is smarter more curious, less afraid of what he
does not know, better at finding and figuring things out ... then he will ever be at school (72). It is
apparent that this statement is not always true. This only applies to some kids, but the majority of kids
need school to start learning about the world they live in. Some kids can do it by themselves, most
cannot. Most kids need to be shown an example on how to do something first then they can work out
the problem by themselves, and the best place to get that first example is in a school. In another essay
titled The Kids the author, Rosenya Faith, states, A significant amount of schoolwork throughout the
grades is dedicated to helping children become expert problem solvers and solution seekers, skills that
will come in handy in just about every personal and professional aspect of a child s adult life (two).
By generalizing how smart all children are when they enter school and how they learn, Holt shows
that his way of thinking only applies to a select few not to everyone, and since Holt is writing to the
American people as a whole, and not to those select few his argument is weakened.
Although, Holt does bring up in his essay a real problem for kids that attend school. He mentions, In
School [the student] learns, like every buck private, how to goldbrick, how to not work when the
sergeant is not looking, how to know when he is looking, how to make him think you are

My Importance Of Academic Interests In High School
My academic interests throughout the years have really changed and evolved as I have matured as a
student. Since I started school, I ve always had an appreciation for academics and the various subjects
that I learned. I would attribute this to the fact that I was able to work with and learn from students,
teachers or friends that were passionate about a particular subject, helping me understand a subject s
value even if it did not particularly interest me. By having this exposure during my formative years
where I learned to think independently, I came to cherish my own education in addition to realizing
the importance and value education can hold for others. As I grew older and began to think for myself,
I developed an affinity towards math and science. I would attribute this to the fact that my mind is
more analytical than creative, leading me to find interest in areas of study that progress logically and
introduce concepts that can be built on top of each other. Once I got to high school, the science classes
that I took started to utilize concepts from mathematics and vice versa. I was particularly interested
when concepts and ideas stemming from a variety of fields were put together in order to accomplish
something practical. I began to seek out articles and videos online to further develop my knowledge of
technology and scientific phenomena. At the end of my junior year, I was motivated to seek out and
apply for various research opportunities that involved working

American Population Health Research Paper
What can be done to promote better health for the American population?
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD), diabetes and adiposity cause deaths, lack of quality life and economic
effects on a global scale. Most of the conditions and effects can be prevented and are experienced at
very early stages due to the lifestyle habits regarding poor diets, physical in activities and excessive
tobacco consumption. The resulting burdens to the families, societies and countries are very huge and
unsustainable (Institute of Medicine, 2010). The health and economic imperatives in the improvement
of lifestyle behaviors are completely evident. It is therefore important that the right approach be
applied in dealing with the causal factors of bad health with the objective of improving the people s
health. The population approach in dealing with health matters creates a more focused dimension in
reaching a wider population. The paper makes a proposal to the solutions for promoting better health
for the American population by evaluating the possible recommendations.

Islam Factors And Its Impact On The Arab Empire
1. The Arab Empire grew to be very large, and trade influenced a lot of its expansion. The Arab
Empire created many trade routes themselves while there was political unrest in Mesopotamia. The
Arabs began using camel caravans that were especially useful in the desert. The Arab Empire did a lot
of trading, which resulted in culture being brought along with the goods. The Arabs traded with China,
Egypt Western India, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Africa. The many goods coming in from all over the
world also brought people, beliefs and culture. All which influenced the Arab Empire greatly. A
trading center called a bazaar made it possible for individuals to sell there own crafts and goods. The
bazaar brought together people of lower classes as well that could trade with each other. Trading
influenced the culture of the Arab Empire while also helping expand it. 2. Once Islam became more
popular it spread through the African continent. During that time Muslims were one of the most
advanced people. Islam geometric designs were used in African architecture. The Arabic vocabulary
was used along with native languages. Advanced Muslim literature and arts was adapted by African
societies and helped them develop. Islam brought more trade to Africa which influenced the culture

There is nothing that can stop wisdom. When you discover this power, you will become an
unstoppable threat to the kingdom of satan. Ecclesiastes Chapter nine mentions a king who entered a
small city and took total control of it, and kept the people in bondage by building snares around it. The

he trained to battle, yet he possessed one thing called wisdom. With his wisdom he took that city out

Disadvantages Of Low Quality
Everyone has had experiences of low quality when overseeing business affiliations. These experiences
may incorporate a bearer that has lost an explorer s stuff, clothing that has left articles of clothing

The experience of low quality is exacerbated when specialists of the association either are not

Applying Psychological Thinking To Sports Essays

Many of the pathways, however, lie within the brain. These pathways can be effectively trained by the
use of mental techniques such as imagery and simulation.
Imagery is the process by which you can create, modify or strengthen pathways important to the co
ordination of your muscles, by training purely within your mind. Imagery rests on the important
principle that you can exercise these parts of you brain with imputes from our imagination rather than
from your sences: the parts of the brain that you train with imagery experience imagined and real
inputs similarly, with the real inputs being merely more vividly experienced (Rainer 1987).
Simulation is similar to imagery in that it seeks to improve the quality of training by teaching your
brain to cope with circumstances that would not be otherwise met until an important competition was
reached. Simulation, however, is carried out by making your physical training circumstances as
similar as possible to the quot;real thing quot; for example by bringing in crowds of spectators, by
having performances judged, or by inviting press to a training session (Rainer 1987).
Deciding your Commitment to your sport is possibly the most important
quot;Sports Psychology quot; decision you will make. It is important to realize that excellence
demands complete dedication: if you want to be the top athlete, then training to be the top athlete must
be the most important thing in you life (Orlick 1994).

public BY: Allen Jackson Document outline: Introduction How does this issue relate to public
finance? What is a mutual fund? What is an index fund? Shortcomings of the mutual fund Why index
funds are better long term investments Conclusion Introduction To begin, the stock market has been an
arena notorious for its extreme wealth creation. In today s news, the small investor is inundated with
information regarding particular countries, individual companies, and future macroeconomic
predictions in regards to the stock market. With all this information, the small investor is left hopeless
to sift through it all, in hopes of finding the particular asset that can secure retirement, pay for a child s
education, or provide a stable life. To the small investor s detriment however, many of them do not
have the time, expertise or inclination to study individual companies in hopes of determining which
one merits his or her hard earned money. Even more important, the few dollars the investor does have
to invest must be invested in a manner that does not lose him or her any money. In such instances, the
investor must now work even harder to cover any loses incurred and still afford to live comfortably in
retirement. As such, the investor forgoes this headache of stock picking and elects to give his money
to a mutual fund manager. This action on the surface seems correct,

The Responsibility Of Feeding The Family Members
during this period are as follows. 1. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially
babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth and
collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg. entering a semi
broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying house and falling into
unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary shelter and moving out
whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there is significant addition of
workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding, child care, care of the livestock)
and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc.
Many of these roles make women sedentary and in turn affect their role at community level. 3.
Clearing debris from the original house is undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a
role, played most visibly by women. Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass
and metal and bites from insects, and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of
women. Prolonged exposure to wet soggy land results in various types of skin infections and other
diseases. 4. Once the relief initiatives start, either by Government or NGOs. Supplies of emergency
food materials, temporary shelters, clothing etc are provided. Many a time, the

The alternative hypothesis for the photosynthesis vs irradiance experiment was initially estimated to
be; Ulva grown under low light will have a steeper initial slope, and a lower Pmax than Ulva grown
under high light. The results have shown the initial slope (alpha) for the low light was 1.21 and for the
high light was 0.81, therefore low light did have a steeper slope that Ulva grown under low light. This
would be because in the low light Ulva, light is a more of a limiting factor than for the high light Ulva,
therefore the low light algae have adapted to harvest the light to suit their environment. This is done
by rapidly increasing or decreasing the pigment content in response to the light availability levels. By

The predicted hypothesis for this experiment was Ulva grown under low light will have a higher
chlorophyll a content and a higher chlorophyll b content than Ulva grown under high light. The reason
that this assumption was made is because Ulva that is growing in light limiting areas need to be able to
harvest as much light as possible while the light is available. Chlorophyll a is able to absorb light in
the red and blue spectrum while chlorophyll b is able to absorb light at intermediate wavelengths, as
discussed in the introduction. The T tests results that were calculated concluded to be: chlorophyll a
(0.17), chlorophyll b (0.47) and the total chlorophyll (0.37). Since all three p values are greater than
0.05, it can be concluded that there is no difference between the low and high light means, therefore
the predicted (alternate) hypothesis can be rejected. In theory the experiment should have resulted as
the alternative hypothesis predicted, but consequently errors have occurred that have prevents this
outcome. All the class data was combined, therefore nine replications were conducted which would
have eliminated human error, but unfortunately the Ulva used mightn t have been grown under the
high and low light conditions for long enough for the chlorophyll to adapt to the

Looking at my personal anecdote speech I think that was my shining moment. I am not only saying
that because of the grade I received, but because I owned the material and it showed. As far as

Information and Arguments Contained in Images Essay
Images contain arguments, whether if there are many or just a few. A series of images with no words
but contains an argument is a pictorial essay. John Berger s Ways of Seeing (1972) contains both word
and pictorial essays. The book is divided into seven sections, three being pictorials. In the very first
chapter of the book, Berger made it clear that the way one image follows another, their succession,
constructs an argument which becomes irreversible. Having noted that, it would seem that the sixth
essay argues that an observation painting provides more information than that of a directed or
arranged portrait. Images that are next to one another in the book such as Sarah Burge, 1883.

In these two images however, the observational artwork provides much more information than the
arranged portrait possibly because there is a lot more action and emotion being show in the image. It is
agreeable that observational images does provide much more information than arranged portraits also
because of the surrounding background as well as the actions shown in the images. The information
that we unconsciously get from images such as Johann Zoffany s Charles, Third Duke of Richmond
and Sale of Pictures and Slaves in the Rotunda, New Orleans, is the time period which it may have
occurred in and what kind of lifestyle both parties are living in. There is also action and movement in
the image and what could possibly be the century it was painted in. In contrast, Mademoiselle de

directly at the artist. There is also no sense of communication between the servants in the image with
her; this does not show any information except for the status difference between the any three women.
If there were some sort of communication between the women, there possibly would be more
information that the viewer can take such what kind of relationship the women have with each other as

Isaiah 40-66
There are several challenges with the historical background and political setting of Isaiah 40 66
concerning author, date, time and situation of life for the Jews. LaSor notes that traditional views that
Isaiah authored the entire book are held by very few scholars. More and more critics are accepting a
two book theory with chapters 1 39 as book one and chapters 40 66 as book two. Moreover, there are
further refinements resulting in three books, dividing chapters 40 66 into 40 55 (Deutero Isaiah) and
56 66 (Trito Isaiah). (LaSor, William 1996., 281)
Since the argument for multiple authorships and time periods directly affect the historical and political

(LaSor, William 1996., 285)
Thus, the historical and political setting for Isaiah 40 66 could be spread across the rule of three
dominant nations, Assyria, Babylon, and Persia. Boadt notes that while the theme of Deutero Isaiah
was Consolation, the overall theme of the book centered on God as the Holy One of Israel; foreign
rule was God s disciplinary tool, and God s makes Zion the Divine dwelling place. (Boadt 1984, 417)

Definition Of Murder
Every kid grows up being told what is right and what is wrong. Do not take the other kids toys that is
bad. Share your snack that is good. The idea of bad feels elementary; it is something we have been
surrounded by our whole life. However, the term might not be so easily defined.
Murder is considered unmoral in nearly every culture, however every culture sends people to war.
Murder is the act of taking another life, but is defined loosely. Soldiers are not considered murders,
and rightfully so, even though they take lives. Instead of changing the ideas surrounding murder the
definition of murder is changed. What was once considered a violent, cruel act is now seen as heroism.
The circumstances that surround the act define the act itself.

Crown s benefit. America had to deal with Taxation without representation in which the populace was

infighting about what direction America should go in. With so many British loyalists in the picture
supporting British rule, it was difficult for Americans to stay United against the crown without a big
reason for it. After the Boston Massacre of 1770, in which 5 colonists died. Americans had all the
reason to question the unfair acts set forth by the British. This paved the reasoning to start the violent

as free speech directed against the crown was considered treason. Anybody who spoke against British

Argumentative Essay On Screen Time
Technology has been part of our daily live more frequently than before. Screen time has been more
popularly used on kids and adolescents. On a daily bases many kids seem to spend more time inside
on their tablets, instead of having to spend time with other kids. This is a problem that is becoming
more popular over the years,on whether kids need to spend that much time on technology or not.
Parents either seem to have strict technology usage, or they either don t. There has always been a huge
controversy with experts, who either think that screen time is beneficial or could cause problems later
on in life. There are many views towards this topic, from hurting kids brains, to helping them during
school, and socially. Many people, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to balance both there has to be comparative with the parents. Technology isn t good nor bad.
It can only benefit the child if the parents put a limit to their time in the screen. Parents need to set up
a schedule in where the kids will follow the time the kids will be using the tablet/ phone. As well have
time to play with other kids, and just interact with there own family member. In the article, Screen
time: A guide for parents states, keeping computers out of the bedroom, and keep them in a common
area in your house. This will make sure that the child isn t using their computers/ tablets during the
time they have to rest. Kids need to have a good rest, and not having technology in their rooms
because it could cause irregular sleep. Just having the parent take action in how much kids need to
spend time in the screens can be a good start. Luscombe argues, Take away the idea that all screens are
bad, but the face to face time for young people is an important part of the socialization process .
Parents seem to not understand that children need to develop good social skills, and that can only be
done by interacting with others, and get a sense on others points of views. Parents need to stop giving
the kids technology to keep them quiet for a while, because at the end it s hurting the child

Inadequate Voter Registration
3. Inadequate Voter Registration
3.1 Multiple Registration
Multiple Registration is a huge challenge for holding a free and fair presidential election in
Afghanistan. Voter registration process in Afghanistan is different as compared to rest of the world.
According to the electoral law of Afghanistan, for presidential elections, the entire country is a single
electoral constituency (Ministry of Justice, 2016, p.29). This means that a voter can register himself
and vote in any voting station across the country. Therefore, voter s lists do not exist in the voting
stations, and the required documents are election cards that open entrance for voters to vote.
According to ICG, 10.6 million Afghans were registered within Afghanistan and 740,000 special
election cards were distributed to Afghan refugees in Pakistan in 2004(ICG, 2009, p. 15).
Later, in 2005, through a registration process, 1.7 million more elections cards added to the previously
available voter cards. Similarly, in 2009, 4.4 million new voter cards were issued for those who
supposedly were not registered before. With these new voter cards, a number of election cards in
circulations reached 17 million. However, the eligible voters in ... Show more content on

Insecurity has negatively affected the whole electoral process, including voter registration, election
campaigns, actual voting process, and counting. Poor security had its effects over registration process.
For example, in the southern and southeastern regions, many registration centers were closed or the
process of registration was limited (Fair, 2009, p. 5). In consonance with the rapid assessment review
of the USAID (2014), upon reflecting over the extent of the existential threats, the IEC followed the
recommendation from the Ministry of Interior to close more than 10 percent of 7,000 polling centers
before the 2014 presidential election day (p.

Truths In The Canterbury Tales
The author of the Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer, does try to show a world where everything is
how it truly is and not as something that is fake. Throughout the story of The Wife of Bath he shows
that knights should have a chivalry to uphold and should work hard to keep it. He also shows that
everyday things that can be horrible end up happening in real life. Many times he also mentions
religion and how it affects how some people are in the work of religion. Chivalry to uphold is a main
part of the reason many knights had their place in society. They have a code of conduct in which they
live by and they swear an oath to it. Many knights would swear to the oath but will break it if their
loyalty wasn t in the right place. When getting this oath taken, the main thing knights will swear on is
to lay their life on the line for the royal family and their home land. Chaucer shows in The Wife of
Bath where a knight does go back on his word but does end up following King Arthur s word when his
wife gives the knight a punishment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth is that many women, and men for that matter, go through rape. Everyday someone goes
through rape and it was the same back then in that era. Along with the horrid truths there was also
murders. Whenever someone either felt jealous or thought someone was going to take their treasure
normally, murders would happen. In The Pardoner s Tale we see that three friends end up finding
treasure underneath a tree and all three decide it s a fabulous idea to murder to keep the treasure for
themselves. Murder also happens everyday in this era as

Now Government of Malaysia plans to have a telephony penetration rate of 50% for the whole
country and 25% for the rural areas by year 2020 (State of Hawaii Government, 2002). Scrutinizing
the background of Malaysian telecommunication sector, competition can be seen as main factor by the
telecommunication service provider companies. Companies like Sapura Digital Sdn. Bhd., Celcom
and Mobikom Berhad have gone through a market evaluation stating the fact that their companies
either should be merged with giant and more competitive companies or to be gone through potential
bankruptcies. This reflects a fact as how the market is being penetrated and flooded by the
competitors. Only Telekom Malaysia (TM) Sdn. Bhd., with its TM Touch services has managed to
maintain its credible presence in the industry. TM has been ranked as one of the leading
telecommunication service providers in the entire Asia with significant investments in overseas.
Beside TM, three other major companies have been operating in Malaysia namely Celcom, Digi and
Maxis. These three service providers usually cover the following segments of the Malaysian
telecommunication market traditional telecommunications, IP services, wireless and mobile markets
and technologies, broadband markets and technologies. They also provide most sophisticated mobile
services with an expanding number of value added services such as Short Message Service (SMS),
Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), Subscription Services (SS),

Quantitative risk assessment Measures the risk by relating the probability of the risk occurring to the possible severity of the outcome and then giving the risk a numerical value. The likelihood depends on the control measures of the place, while the severity depends on magnitude of hazard. [4] Qualitative risk assessment This is based on personal judgement and is normally defined as high, medium or low. This kind of assessment is usually satisfactory since the definition whether high, medium or low determines the time frame in which further action is to be taken. High risk situations need to be addressed in days, medium risk in weeks and low risks in months. • 4. Communication Patterns of Children During Conflict Essay... As we grow up, we are socialized into the proper norms to be successful in society. The socialization process starts right from birth. Babies observe and try to mimic their parents and eventually their siblings or peers. Conflict is a part of life that children need to use to develop skills on resolving disagreements; conflict is not always bad. Peer conflict, however, can lead to aggressive behavior because of significant emotional and physical harm. Many youth lack the social skills needed to handle their aggravation. Peer conflict communicates joint disagreement or aggression between peers or peer groups. Peer conflict is characterized as conflict between people of equal or similar power also known as friends. These types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adults mediate children s interaction and in doing so adults need to learn the necessary tools to helping our children handle conflict. In school and at home, it is important to help develop social skills. Skills such as building friendships, emotional regulation, problem solving, and being supportive are best learned at an elementary school age. Children are taught what is socially acceptable through reward and consequence. Once children reach adolescents age, it is best to teach conflict resolution techniques. By implementing peer mediation, the children learn how to recognize a conflict and learn how to resolve a conflict on their own. At the middle and high school age level, it is also important to practice respectful and positive behaviors. At this age adolescents are going through hormonal changes and if adults focus on practicing positive respectful behaviors the habits will form and the child will have the natural skills to interact at an adult level. Focusing on the individual, factors of peer conflict like problem solving, self regulation, and language are linked with youth who engage in aggressive behaviors toward their peers. The International Journal of Language Communication Disorders, Interaction Before Conflict and Conflict Resolution in Pre School Boys with Language Impairment, addresses the factors associated with peer conflict. • 5. A Modern Day Minstrel Show It is clear that our country s criminal justice system is the new Jim Crow; with a huge majority of felons being African American, it is obvious that people of color have it harder when it comes to crime sentences. We must acknowledge that mass incarceration and the Jim Crow era are greatly similar. Minstrel shows, which showed black men to be lazy, dumb, and clownish, once justified the oppression of african americans. Many now believe that gangsta rap does just the same and is the modern day minstrel show, by portraying blacks to be drug dealers, angry, and violent men. Though many people believe that gangsta rap reinforces these stereotypes, it s important for one to realize that this form of expression is not a modern day version of blackface performances. Blackface performances were popular in American theaters for roughly 100 years, beginning around the 1830 s. In 1950 s blackface minstrel shows, white and black performers were not able to share the stage therefore they opted to paint their faces black with polish. These black characters were always portrayed as either villains or comedic. Blackface had been used to make arguments for slavery and why African Americans should not be given full human rights. These are narratives created by white men that were made to oppress and dehumanize an entire race of people. While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated that more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff Handbook). Shlossberg Transition Theory Part III: My Theory as it Relates to Other Theories When comparing student trailblazer theory to other, popular student development theories, I find that Schlossberg s transition theory is related to the different phases students will go through as they proceed through their collegiate careers. According to this theory, events, both anticipated an unanticipated, as well as non events can play a role that results in changed relationships, routines, assumptions and roles (Patton, Renn, Guido, Quaye, 2016). When applying Schlossberg s theory to student trailblazer theory, I believe the phases with the greatest level of transition include the shift from the college entry phase to the vulnerability phase, the shift from the initial defining phase to the rebuilding phase, and the transition phase. However, in contrast to Schlossberg s transition theory, student trailblazer theory emphasizes any transitions as an opportunity for growth. For instance, although both transition theory and student trailblazer theory can be used to explain my experiences when I lost my friends to graduation and got a new coach, student trailblazer theory assumes that students will have the support in place to overcome any obstacles. After all, they will affect all levels of the organization. As long as I can remember, I have been the type of employee who goes above and beyond the job description because of my overzealous desire to help others and loyalty to those I find worth extending it to. For me I really couldn t answer that question, as a little kid who s only thought was to have fun, all I cared about was playing video games and watching cartoons. One day, my cousins came over to my house asking if they could watch something on the TV, I said sure, so they turned on the TV and put on a documentary. Within Africa s southern region, Zimbabwe has found diamonds to be a vital commodity in sustaining the country. In order to reach these minerals, mining companies must find a steady supply of labor to mine and sort the diamonds before they are later sold rough in wholesale to dealers, distributed to be cut, polished, and turned into jewelry at manufacturing plants, and marketed by retailers to finally be sold to customers. (Levin, 2014, p.24). Zimbabwe s main mine is Marange Field, a mine run by the government that handles unofficial conflict diamonds diamonds used to finance rebellious wars. (Nicholas, 2012, p.650) Although technically conflict free under the Kimberly Process, Zimbabwe over the past 15 years has continued to commit human rights abuses. Allowed by Zimbabwe s government influence and the high supply of desperate families living in poverty available to mine for the precious gems, a thriving international industry emerged. This control of desperation allows producers of Marange Fields to use forced labor within the supply chain. (Baker, 2015, p. 65) Although Zimbabwe is by the United Nations definition providing conflict free diamonds, it is evident that individuals are being trafficked and abused in the mining stage of production. • 23. Is School Is Bad For Children By John Holt Essay The child soon learns not to ask questions the teacher is not there to satisfy his curiosity (Holt 73). This is what John Holt thinks the American education system is all about. He thinks that it is a place where individuality and creativity come to die. He wrote an essay that explains his belief further that is titled, School is bad for Children. Holt uses several rhetorical devices and logical fallacies such as generalizations stereotypes, making assumptions, and either or fallacy that weakens his argument One element that diminishes Holt s essay is generalizations. He tries to use generalizations to make it appear as though school is an evil place that needs to be saved. For instance, he says, Almost every child, on the first day he sets foot in a school building, is smarter more curious, less afraid of what he does not know, better at finding and figuring things out ... then he will ever be at school (72). It is apparent that this statement is not always true. This only applies to some kids, but the majority of kids need school to start learning about the world they live in. Some kids can do it by themselves, most cannot. Most kids need to be shown an example on how to do something first then they can work out the problem by themselves, and the best place to get that first example is in a school. In another essay titled The Kids the author, Rosenya Faith, states, A significant amount of schoolwork throughout the grades is dedicated to helping children become expert problem solvers and solution seekers, skills that will come in handy in just about every personal and professional aspect of a child s adult life (two). By generalizing how smart all children are when they enter school and how they learn, Holt shows that his way of thinking only applies to a select few not to everyone, and since Holt is writing to the American people as a whole, and not to those select few his argument is weakened. Although, Holt does bring up in his essay a real problem for kids that attend school. He mentions, In School [the student] learns, like every buck private, how to goldbrick, how to not work when the sergeant is not looking, how to know when he is looking, how to make him think you are ... With the growing popularity and the increasing competitiveness of the sports, it will take more than just a physical advantage to compete at the highest level. This is where the psychology of sports comes into play. In my research I will cover different areas in which you can psychologically strengthen you mental and physical skills to become a more skilled and competitive athlete. These pathways can be effectively trained by the use of mental techniques such as imagery and simulation. Imagery is the process by which you can create, modify or strengthen pathways important to the co ordination of your muscles, by training purely within your mind. Imagery rests on the important principle that you can exercise these parts of you brain with imputes from our imagination rather than from your sences: the parts of the brain that you train with imagery experience imagined and real inputs similarly, with the real inputs being merely more vividly experienced (Rainer 1987). Simulation is similar to imagery in that it seeks to improve the quality of training by teaching your brain to cope with circumstances that would not be otherwise met until an important competition was reached. Simulation, however, is carried out by making your physical training circumstances as similar as possible to the quot;real thing quot; for example by bringing in crowds of spectators, by having performances judged, or by inviting press to a training session (Rainer 1987). Deciding your Commitment to your sport is possibly the most important quot;Sports Psychology quot; decision you will make. It is important to realize that excellence demands complete dedication: if you want to be the top athlete, then training to be the top athlete must be the most important thing in you life (Orlick 1994). ... • 32. Difference between a Mutual Fund and an Index Fund Mutual Funds vs. Index Funds New Imperatives for the small individual investor and the general public BY: Allen Jackson Document outline: Introduction How does this issue relate to public finance? What is a mutual fund? What is an index fund? Shortcomings of the mutual fund Why index funds are better long term investments Conclusion Introduction To begin, the stock market has been an arena notorious for its extreme wealth creation. In today s news, the small investor is inundated with information regarding particular countries, individual companies, and future macroeconomic predictions in regards to the stock market. With all this information, the small investor is left hopeless to sift through it all, in hopes of finding the particular asset that can secure retirement, pay for a child s education, or provide a stable life. To the small investor s detriment however, many of them do not have the time, expertise or inclination to study individual companies in hopes of determining which one merits his or her hard earned money. Even more important, the few dollars the investor does have to invest must be invested in a manner that does not lose him or her any money. In such instances, the investor must now work even harder to cover any loses incurred and still afford to live comfortably in retirement. As such, the investor forgoes this headache of stock picking and elects to give his money to a mutual fund manager. This action on the surface seems correct, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Responsibility Of Feeding The Family Members during this period are as follows. 1. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth and collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg. entering a semi broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying house and falling into unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary shelter and moving out whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there is significant addition of workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding, child care, care of the livestock) and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc. Many of these roles make women sedentary and in turn affect their role at community level. 3. Clearing debris from the original house is undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a role, played most visibly by women. Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass and metal and bites from insects, and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of women. Prolonged exposure to wet soggy land results in various types of skin infections and other diseases. 4. Once the relief initiatives start, either by Government or NGOs. Photosynthesis Lab Report The alternative hypothesis for the photosynthesis vs irradiance experiment was initially estimated to be; Ulva grown under low light will have a steeper initial slope, and a lower Pmax than Ulva grown under high light. The results have shown the initial slope (alpha) for the low light was 1.21 and for the high light was 0.81, therefore low light did have a steeper slope that Ulva grown under low light. This would be because in the low light Ulva, light is a more of a limiting factor than for the high light Ulva, therefore the low light algae have adapted to harvest the light to suit their environment. This is done by rapidly increasing or decreasing the pigment content in response to the light availability levels. By doing this the low light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The predicted hypothesis for this experiment was Ulva grown under low light will have a higher chlorophyll a content and a higher chlorophyll b content than Ulva grown under high light. The reason that this assumption was made is because Ulva that is growing in light limiting areas need to be able to harvest as much light as possible while the light is available. Chlorophyll a is able to absorb light in the red and blue spectrum while chlorophyll b is able to absorb light at intermediate wavelengths, as discussed in the introduction. The T tests results that were calculated concluded to be: chlorophyll a (0.17), chlorophyll b (0.47) and the total chlorophyll (0.37). Since all three p values are greater than 0.05, it can be concluded that there is no difference between the low and high light means, therefore the predicted (alternate) hypothesis can be rejected. In theory the experiment should have resulted as the alternative hypothesis predicted, but consequently errors have occurred that have prevents this outcome. All the class data was combined, therefore nine replications were conducted which would have eliminated human error, but unfortunately the Ulva used mightn t have been grown under the high and low light conditions for long enough for the chlorophyll to adapt to the ... A series of images with no words but contains an argument is a pictorial essay. John Berger s Ways of Seeing (1972) contains both word and pictorial essays. The book is divided into seven sections, three being pictorials. In the very first chapter of the book, Berger made it clear that the way one image follows another, their succession, constructs an argument which becomes irreversible. He also shows that everyday things that can be horrible end up happening in real life. Many times he also mentions religion and how it affects how some people are in the work of religion. Chivalry to uphold is a main part of the reason many knights had their place in society. They have a code of conduct in which they live by and they swear an oath to it.
