Plato s The Symposium And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Stairway to Immortality Besides being a phenomenal writer and philosopher, it seems Plato had the
gift of foresight as well. At a glance, a Greek novel about love and an ancient Mesopotamian epic
seem to have nothing in common. However, what is interesting to see is that not only do the two share
very similar themes, but one acts as a how to guide for the other. In both novels, Plato s The
Symposium and The Epic of Gilgamesh, the main protagonists deal with the concept of immortality.
In Gilgamesh, the immortality Gilgamesh seeks to obtain is one that is fleeting and material, whereas
Plato discusses the so called right kind of immortality that one finds via pursuing knowledgeable love.
The Symposium shows how one can become immortal by following the correct path of love and
Gilgamesh serves as an example of what happens when one does not follow those rules. Because
Gilgamesh directs his desires toward immortality, but not the kind Diotima describes, he fails his quest
and remains miserable. Gilgamesh directs his desire not to reach the top of Diotima s ladder, which is
to become immortal by loving and spreading wisdom, and because of this, he can never become
immortal. The Symposium revolves around a Greek party made up of various men throwing around
their views on love, building up to height of the evening by a speech from Socrates. Socrates knows
the true way to obtain love, and tells of a tale between him and his mentor, Diotima. Through Diotima,
Socrates is able to

Designing An Oversized Throw Quilt For My Daughter As A...

Section One: Chain Model
1.
I would like to make an oversized throw quilt for my daughter as a birthday gift.
2.
a) choose a quilt pattern, b) decide on a color palette and fabric, c) cut out fabric pieces, d) sew
pieces together, add batting and quilt back, e) send to quilter, and f) bind quilt to finish.
3.
In order to accomplish this project for my daughter I will need $205 to cover the costs of supplies and
quilter s fee. It will take approximately 18 hours for my labor and one hour for the quilters to finish
the quilt. The space in my schedule is limited and my daughter s birthday is four weeks away, so the
18 hours will be divided into 6 hours per weekend for a total of three weekends.

We have been approved for a vehicle loan of $15,000 with a two percent interest rate through the local
credit union, which would make our payments $232 per month. It is very important we find a
dealership in our community that has a great reputation. This dealership also needs a service
department to assist us with any future mechanical needs. The vehicles will need a CARFAX report
available to give a detailed list of possible accidents, service record, number of owners, and the states
where the vehicle has been registered. This is the most important information needed to make a good
decision. 4.
This model allows us to choose based on what works best for our budget and our needs. There are
simple things such as paint color that are not as important as price and mileage. Over all we were able
to make the best choice since it was one we would be stuck with for a while.
5.
We found a dealership that was close to our home that was known for its honesty and service. The T
grid model allowed us to compare the cons and pros of both vehicles. We decided the Nissan

Reasons To Be Allowed In Schools
Imagine that you are in school and you see someone stabbing or hacking into his computer. Your first
reaction is to tell a teacher or to ignore it. Students say is right to do all of this things but is not. I say
we fight for what s right and tell the Principal of each school their is on the world to react and start
checking the students things so the students who are responsible enough don t get hurt. Student s
processions may be searched at any time because it keep kids safe, it keeps kids from being harm, and
it keeps kids from getting hurt online. As stated earlier to why students processions may be searched at
any time is because it keep kids. The evidence to support this is that many students are prevented from
such intrusions like violation of personal rights. This means that one student might be doing
something very dangerous at school. For example, that might be that a student brought a knife to
school and no one knows. Well if the teachers had the right to look through the student things nothing
bad would happen and us kids would be safe. People may argue that student s processions may not be
searched at any time while many of us worry about ourselves and our parents also worry ... Show

The evidence to support this is that Katherine Rogers said that she can ban schools from seeking
access to private content. For example many students are getting hurt at schools just because someone
decided to get up and start hitting a random person. If they were to have many guards or more teachers
to take a of the school outside and inside, there re wouldn t be many students getting hurt or made fun
of everyday. While many people believe that their shouldn t be many guards or teachers in the schools
their are other people who worry about us and want to take care of us. Not only it keeps kids from
getting harm but it keeps kids from getting hurt while being

Analysis Of Maya Plisetskaya
The main purpose of this film is to tell the story of Russian ballerina Maya Plisetskaya. In other
words, the goal is to show her life during the period of time from the start of her dancing career in
1934 until her death in 2015. One of the biggest history aspects of the film will centralize on how
WWII and post war USSR have affected her career, individuality and personal life. Also, the film will
contain parts where people, who knew or worked with Maya Plisetskaya, will share memories and
their points of view on some of the events, shown in the film. Some of the people are ballet dancer and
actor Mikhail Baryshnikov, Bolshoi Theatre director Vladimir Urin and Plisetskaya s niece and ballet
dancer Anna Plisetskaya.

but also the best ballerina in the world. The next part is called Taking the World . This part will start
with a very interesting event that occurred in 1997. Suddenly it began to rain during Plisetskaya s
outdoor performance of The Dying Swan. However, the audience forgot to open their umbrellas as
they were fascinated by her show. Also, another remarkable thing happened. A designer Pierre Cardin
was a part of the audience that day, and at the end of the show the ballerina and the designer were
formally introduced. After their meeting, Cardin created dance costumes and evening wear for
Plisetskaya. Maya Plisetskaya had taken the world. She was officially recognized as one of the
greatest ballerinas. One of the most significant awards she has received was Premium Imperiale,

The Final Infinite Interval And Exponential Gegenbauer...
In this paper, we introduce two new functions on the semi infinite interval namely Rational
Gegenbauer and Exponential Gegenbauer functions and we apply them as basis functions in Tau
method to solve the boundary layer flow of a magneto micropolar fluid on a continuous moving plate
with suction and injection. These functions are a general case of rational Chebyshev and Legendre
functions and this is the first time that they are used in Tau method. The operational matrices of
derivative and product of rational and exponential Gegenbauer functions are also presented. These
new matrices together with the Tau method are then utilized to reduce the solution of the governing
equations to the solution of a system of nonlinear algebraic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many problems of physics and engineering lead naturally to the resolution of differential equations in
unbounded domains and semi infinite domains. In the context of spectral methods, a number of
approaches have been proposed and investigated for treating these problems. The most common
method is the use of polynomials that are orthogonal over unbounded domains, such as the Hermite
and Laguerre spectral methods [10, 11, 12, 13].
Guo [14, 15] proposed a method that proceeds by mapping the original problem in an unbounded
domain to a problem in a bounded domain, and then using suitable Jacobi polynomials to approximate
the resulting problems. Another approach is using the domain truncation method by choosing
sufficiently large for replacing the infinite domain with and the semi infinite interval with [16].
There is another effective direct approach for solving such problems which is based on the rational
approximations. Christov [17] and Boyd [18, 19] developed some spectral methods on unbounded
intervals using mutually orthogonal systems of rational functions. Boyd [18] defined a new spectral
basis, named rational Chebyshev functions on the semi infinite interval, by mapping to the Chebyshev
polynomials. Guo et al. [20] introduced a new set of rational Legendre functions which are mutually
orthogonal in . They applied a spectral scheme using the rational Legendre functions for solving the
Korteweg de Vries equation on the half line.

Supernatural Aid In Campbell s A Once And Future King
Like the training wheels on a child s bike, help is given in order to make the new rider stronger and
better able to control the dynamics of a newly discovered notion. In Campbell s eyes, the same
concept correlates with the help given to a hero. This help making them wiser, stronger and better able
to face the challenges offered by adventure. The help may include the distribution of maps, weapons,
or something more mythical, some sort of supernatural aid. This aid, according to Campbell, is always
in the form of a mentor, a wise, old prune that completes the tasks of foreseeing the hero to victory.
Merlyn, in the story A Once and Future King, better adheres to Campbell s vision regarding the
magical guide in the heroic journey. The concept of a magical guide or supernatural aid informs the
audience of unworldly guidance that follows after the acceptance of The Call to Adventure . The texts
A Once and Future King and Le Morte d Arthur both exemplify an entity, Merlyn, that invades the life
of a hero, Arthur, as an aid in order to guide him to victory regarding his journey and adventure.
Heroes are often began on their trip by a character who has aced the laws of the outside world and
returns to offer wisdom and experience. This otherworldly character or magical guide regularly gives
the hero the way to conquer the adventure. As a less than dependable rule the blessing is just insight.
In each occurrence it is something the hero needs to succeed. As Campbell says,

Anger In The Fault In Our Stars
A well known proverb in Italy is anger can be an expensive luxury. There are many ways to express
anger, these can be positive or negative and can result in money being spent, lives being saved or lost,
and relationships changing for better or worse. This proverb can be proven though people such as
Gandhi, many historical events like The riots in Ferguson and a local shooting, and it can be shown in
literature such as The Fault in our Stars.
Gandhi was the type of person who would not kill or injury anyone. The citizens of India were
changing the country into a violent place. During the Salt March of 1930 Gandhi said, My ambition is
no less than to convert the British people through non violence and thus make them see the wrong

Obesity Is The Reason Our Youth
Introduction Childhood obesity has been on a steady incline over the past 30 years and is considered a
serious public health concern, especially in elementary school aged children. According to the US
Surgeon General, nearly one in three children are overweight or obese (US Department of Human
Health Services, 2014). The American Heart Association (2010) has age and sex specific growth
charts that show the calculation of children s BMI using their height and weight. When children s
weight is well above the average for their height and age they are classified as obese. Children BMI
for age is in the 95th percentile or higher is considered to be obese. Obese children normally consume
more energy in the form of food and drinks then they burn off with physical exercise (Kids Health,
2014). Our nation s obesity epidemic effects are immense: taxpayers, communities, and families spend
hundreds of billions of dollars each year in medical costs and attempts to end childhood obesity
(Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2014). Obesity is the reason our youth is predicted to live shorter
lives than our parents and we need to change this. Childhood obesity has long term harmful effects on
a child s future health. Obese children are more likely to have high blood pressure and high
cholesterol which put them more at risk for cardiovascular disease in the future (Center for Disease
Control Prevention, 2014). Childhood obesity can lead to type 2 diabetes, cancer, asthma, joint

Teaching Assistant Reflection
In my third year at SBU I became a teaching assistant (TA) for the biology lab courses. Every week a
graduate TA (GTA) and I held a 3 hour lab course with 24 students. Alternating roles with the GTA,
one week I would introduce the topic of the lab and the next week I would prepare the tools and
reagents while checking assignments. Afterwards, the GTA and I would patrol the room to ensure
every student was on track to finish while answering questions. I prepared for every lab by attending a

Evolution Of Divorce And The Consequences It Has On Todays...
For my research project, I would like to explore the evolution of divorce/marriage and the
consequences it has on todays society. In todays society the definition of family has dramatically
changed, both by structure and by definition. Divorce is now the norm. Today in the United States it is
believed that the divorce rate hovers at about 50% and that one of every six adults divorces two or
more times. Why has this become normal, and what can we do to fix this? I believe that by taking a
step back and focusing on marriage, and really knowing who your marrying, we could see a
significant drop in divorce and the problems developing in each generation. Divorce is never
something to be taken lightly. In this paper I will examine the unfolding of divorce and how it evolved
into what it is today, therefore shed some light on possibilities to undercut the still rising divorce rate.
While I go through this paper I will give you a complete background on the former marriage regime
and how divorce was in the past vs now. While divorce is helpful for some people it can also be a
difficult and painful process for others. My goal is to not come off as one sided but to really educate
you on the background of marriage and divorce and hopefully learn from our past mistakes. My
position is that we need to understand the effects and the consequences of divorce so we can
reevaluate how we view and define divorce, and therefore marriage. How has divorce revolutionized,
what can we do to fix

The significance of the Common Man in A Man For All Seasons.
==============================================================
I have decided to explore how Bolt uses the Common Man to emphasise the features of the major
characters and to illustrate the main themes of the play. I will also explore the role the common man
plays in the structure of the play and his effect on the audience.
The Common Man is the only character who speaks directly to the audience, which I think is
important as it means they can feel part of the play: there is interaction between the audience and
actors. This communication may increase the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Common Man s comments on the characters may also raise moral issues amongst the audience.
For example, the Common Man remarks on More s wilful indifference to realities. In one sense the
audience may agree with this as they may feel More does not take a very realistic approach to
government. This is illustrated in scene two, when More and Wosley are discussing the divorce, they
may feel that Thomas s ideal to govern the country by prayer is not very practical. Wosley: you d like
that wouldn t you? To govern the country by prayer? More: Yes I should
However, others may disagree with the Common Man and think that More is realistic in judgement.
For example, he ensures his family does not know any information they could be asked about in court,
to make sure they stay out of danger. Therefore the common man is significant in the sense that his
commentary has an effect on the audience: his judgements may cause the audience to ask themselves
if Thomas More deserves the title A Man For All Seasons?
Because this play deals with events that actually occurred (eg: the reformation of the church) and
people who actually lived, the common man plays a significant role in telling us the real events of the
time, which relate to the plot. For example, in Act

John Locke, a British Philosopher, Studied the Knowledge...
John Locke (b. 1632, d. 1704) was a British philosopher, Oxford academic and medical researcher.
Locke s monumental An Essay Concerning Human Understanding (1689) is one of the first great
defenses of empiricism and concerns itself with determining the limits of human understanding in
respect to a wide spectrum of topics. It thus tells us in some detail what one can legitimately claim to
know and what one cannot. Locke s association with Anthony Ashley Cooper (later the First Earl of
Shaftesbury) led him to become successively a government official charged with collecting
information about trade and colonies, economic writer, opposition political activist, and finally a
revolutionary whose cause ultimately triumphed in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Among Locke s
political works he is most famous for The Second Treatise of Government in which he argues that
sovereignty resides in the people and explains the nature of legitimate government in terms of natural
rights and the social contract. He is also famous for calling for the separation of Church and State in
his Letter Concerning Toleration. Much of Locke s work is characterized by opposition to
authoritarianism. This is apparent both on the level of the individual person and on the level of
institutions such as government and church. For the individual, Locke wants each of us to use reason
to search after truth rather than simply accept the opinion of authorities or be subject to superstition.
He wants us to

Therefore, Martin and Hitchcock both use the technique of irony to portray the ethics and significance
of those who abandon their moral values and beliefs. The novel A Game of Thrones, is set in a harsh
unforgiving world and many characters find themselves struggling as they are faced with hard truths.
Martin portrays the protagonist Eddard Stark to be a man of honour and respect with high ethical
values, this is shown through many other characters opinions such as Jon, Jon tells Eddard You wear

Many health care organizations have used Lewin s theory to recognize human behavior as it relates to
change and patterns of resistance to change, the model encompasses three distinct phases known as
unfreezing, moving and freezing or refreezing (Bozak, 2003). The purpose of the model is to
distinguish factors that can impede change from happening; forces that are in opposition to change
often called restraining or static forces and forces that promote change, referred to as driving forces .
When health care organizations fully understand what behaviors drive or oppose change, then work to
reinforce the positive driving forces, change can happen successfully (Bozak, 2003).
Unfreezing Stage In Lewin s unfreezing stage, an understanding of the difficulties related to the
recognized problem is sought and strategies are developed to reinforce the driving forces and weaken
or reduce the restraining forces (Bozak, 2003, p. 81). Unfreezing involves identifying key players

The Yugoslavian Conflict
Yugoslavia is a country burdened by feuding sides in a war that cannot soon be resolved. The United
Nations are attempting to help the situation, but until the people of Yugoslavia can come to an
agreement continued warfare and heartache is inevitable.
The problems in Yugoslavia began because the country is separated into two distinct parts. The north
and west parts of the country were once under the rule of the Austro Hungarian Empire, and the south
and the east were controlled by the Ottoman Empire. This had extreme effects on the ethnic, cultural
and economic differences between the two sides. The three major religions in Yugoslavia were Greek
Orthodox, Christianity, Roman Catholicism, and Islam. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The whole affair was organized as military support to the federal police and customs personnel. The
Slovenians offered strong resistance with their territorial defense units, politically organized the
withdrawal of their representatives from the presidency and the Executive Council of Yugoslavia, and
directed a massive propaganda campaign presenting themselves as victims of brutal Yugoslavian
National Army aggression.
Croatia also attempted to claim independence, but they had a problem that the Slovenians didn t have
to deal with. They had a large population of
Serbians in Croatia and with the new laws that the Croatian government tried to impose the minority
Serbians were given no rights as a minority and were forced to go by the new found Croatian law. This
caused conflicts inside Croatia between the Serbian rebels and the Croatian National Guard who tried
to keep order. Many of these conflicts left many people dead and wounded. The
Yugoslavian National Army (JNA) openly sided with the Serbian rebels, the
Croatians used this opportunity to start an all out anti JNA campaign. The JNA responded by saying
that it took orders from the Presidency of Yugoslavia, not from Tudjman, the Croatian leader, and that
it was constitutionally obliged to protect the integrity of the country and to preserve peace when it was
endangered. Tudjman put all army units in Croatia on highest alert and ordered to shoot back if shot
at. The fighting

My Personal Worldview Paper
My personal worldview explains the way I view and live life through the assumptions and beliefs I
hold in response to the world around me. I believe I was created for a specific reason and purpose.
What do I believe to be true? I believe that God exists and that he is the creator of everything that
exists. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, John 1:1
(NIV). This is biblical proof that God exists. The verse that explains that God has always existed is,
Revelation 22:13, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End

I must find my calling if I am to truly live my life to the fullest and to live out God s plan for my life.
God is the only one who can help me find my purpose. He has had a plan for my life long before I was
even born and that God has a purpose for me that no one else could fulfill. For I know the plans I have
for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future, Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV). This means that no matter what I do as long as I am in accordance with
God s will, everything will turn out for the best in the end. God has promised to give me hope and a
future and to bless my life. For we are God s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do, Ephesians 2:10 (NIV). With this knowledge I know that
God has created me exactly the way I should be and that he has given me talents and skills enough to
do all he asks of me to do. I was created in God s image, created with God s character of love, mercy,
grace and righteousness. According to AllAboutWorldviews.com, Christians believe God has revealed
Himself to people in a general way through creation and in a special (personal) way evidenced by His
divine words and acts contained in the Bible and especially in the person of Jesus Christ (2002, p.1).
Through the Bible I can see specific evidence of what God s character looks like,

In other literatures of the day, Jane Austen or Charlotte Bronte, Tatyana would chosen desire and
would have faced disgrace, affair, abandonment, elopement, and/or suicide. But because she is dutiful
and eternally silences her love, Tatyana embodies the moral woman of Russia. Liubov faced similar
situation. Liubov was also pressured to be placed with a suitor. Not to dishonor her father s and
brother s opinion, Liubov agreed to the marriage though after she fought directly on the proposal
privately and publicly. For a woman, Belinsky declared, marriage is the only reasonable way to
experience life and the only reality. Marriage for her is emancipation, the beginning of her
individuality. Engelstein would disagree with Belinsky assessment of marriage. Weighing on Chekhov
s view on adultery, Engelstein agrees that not the power of desire that destroys human life and
happiness, but the weight of conventional norms and patriarchal relations. But does this make Russia
backwards? No, since Russia had different values. Western Europe and American literature stress
desire and fulfillment of happiness, whereas Russia stresses duty and patriarchal obligation. Tatyana
though unhappy is successful in status. She does not have to worry finances. She engaged in the circle

Pros And Cons Of The Two Party System
Left Wing, Right Wing, Broken Wing
Have you ever considered the American government is corrupt, even though they claim to uphold
certain American values? The two party system is just that: corrupt. Right now, the government offers
two parties, and even though it has its benefits, it has a lot more weaknesses. Although the two party
system offers stability and accessibility for citizens, it is broken and needs to be drastically changed
for the government to be actually of the people, by the people, for the people. The two party system
was born after the American revolution, when our representatives for each colony chose sides between
federalists and antifederalists. This later became what we know today as the Democratic party and the

The two party system needs to be changed or completely abolished, because it offers limited ideas and
opinions to run the country. The two parties have their own perspectives on issues such as gun control
or abortion; Craig Goodman of the University of Houston claims he doesn t think it s very democratic.
Why should you exclude someone because they are a small number, and they don t get to express
themselves? (Cargo 1). The two party does not allow the middle ground or smaller parties to really
have a say (Mathias 4). Most voters only know the leading independent and the two party nominees.
Kate Cargo describes the two party system leaves voter with low quality ideas and frankly, low quality
candidates (Cargo 1) while the third party candidate could have a great compromise on a hot issue, it
will never see the light of day. While the two party system does allow people to have easy access to
the opinions of the parties on these issues, it does not make up for the limited options we have. As a
country we need to have as many options as possible even if they are extreme. Accessibility is
important, but it should never limit our options.
Along with giving us limited opinions and ideas, the two party system often offers a repeat of
candidates. Hillary Clinton has ran for the office of president

During walking and running, leg muscles produce forces that impact the tibiofemoral joint. These
forces can have a negative impact on the development, health and maintenance of the cartilage and
meniscus in that joint (and increased load on the knees and the tibiofemoral joint can result in
osteoarthritis). The tibiofemoral load is varied depending on the muscle coordination patterns. The
laboratory created a musculoskeletal model of subject to analyze the tibiofemoral load, and an
optimization framework to calculate the load from muscle coordination. Using the model and
optimization framework, the laboratory was able to understand the impact of different muscle
coordination on the tibiofemoral load. The laboratory was able to precisely predict tibiofemoral forces
when compared to in vivo measurements during the early stance phase, but overshot its prediction
during the late stance phase. The over prediction of the tibiofemoral load was due to the extended
activity of the gastrocnemius and the rectus femoris. The laboratory was able to modify the activity of
these two muscles to increase resemblance with in vivo measurements. The laboratory was also able to
identify distinct changes in muscle activity that could decrease tibiofemoral load. A decrease in
activation of the rectus femoris and gastrocnemius and an increase in activation of the soleus, gluteus

The Biblical Story Of Adam And Eve
The influence of the biblical story of Adam and Eve is very apparent in Rappaccinis Daughter. This
being said, it is disappointing that little to no criticisms are found on this topic. Nathanial Hawthorns,
Rappaccinis daughter, is an Allusion of Adam and Eve and therefore an allegory.
When approached with a readers responds critique, one is reminded of the biblical story of Adam and
Eve, the creation of man. The story of Adam and Eve happens in Genesis chapter 2 and 3. Long story
short, god made Adam and eve to look after Eden, he told them to never eat from the tree of
knowledge. A serpent, Satan, persuaded eve to eat the fruit of knowledge, and she persuaded Adam to
do the same, when god found out they were banned from Eden.
If you switch some of the characters and setting you are given a story close to Rappaccinis Daughter.
Giovanni would be Adam and Beatrice would be eve, the serpent would be Rappaccini himself and the
bush covered in purple flowers represents the tree of knowledge. In this version of the creation of
man, everything is manipulated. The serpent, Rappaccini plays god. He changes what god has done
into a perversion. Rappaccini, never persuaded Beatrice to smell the flowers, he exposed it to her,
making her immune. Giovanni falls for this eve and is now stuck to this poisons sin.
Scholars approach this recreated story of the creation of man with the idea of that it follows the tide of
an imaginative scenario of human breeding and tyranny, exploring the

It is the simplest technique ,with good dynamic performance , robust and gives large benefits. It is
recognized as an alternative method to field oriented control (FOC). Industrial drives with DTC are
present in the market today.DTC is proposed to control electromagnetic torque and stator flux by
directly modifying the stator voltage in accordance with the torque and flux errors DTC has added
advantages over FOC absence of mechanical transducer, no requirement of co ordinate transformation
,and a very simple control scheme with less computational time Though DTC is simple and have fast
transient response, it generates high level common mode voltage variations. To avoid the problems of
common mode voltage variations a new DTC algorithm was developed, in which, only odd or only
even voltage vectors will be applied in each sector in which stator flux lies without using any zero
voltage vectors. However, this method gave torque ambiguity. To overcome the torque ambiguity,
modified DTC algorithm has been proposed The variable switching technique is a part of the
conventional DTC technique . It was firstly introduced by Takahashi and Noguchi around 1980 s this
method is the wide band of the switching frequency of the inverter even when the flux and torque
references are kept constant. The conventional DTC scheme has some inherent

Farm To Table Movement
One of the biggest trends in the culinary world today is the farm to table movement. The phrase farm
to table is a phrase referring to food made with locally sourced ingredients. Our society is in a rapid
state of technological innovation, which means that we often compromise health and nutrition for the
sake of convenience. However, a growing number of consumers have started to seek healthier and
more environmentally friendly alternatives to the processed foods that dominate grocery store shelves.
More than ever, Americans are looking for local food. The farm to table movement is also changing
the expectations for restaurants. The cost can come at a premium for some businesses, which are still
dealing with the challenges that serving local food can present. For the consumer, the purpose may be
helping to build a strong economy by supporting local agriculture, knowing where the food comes
from and farming practices used, or reducing the number of transportation miles and insuring they are
getting the freshest products.

The Danger and Negativity of Misconceptions
Misconceptions are false ideas or beliefs that often root from pre mature assumptions, or inherited

surface. Sculpted into the east panel which faces Washington, D.C., are three Greek figures
representing Peace, Victory, and Valor. The six wreaths, three sculpted on each side, represent the six
major campaigns of World War I. Written on the back of the Tomb are the words: Here rests in
honored glory an American soldier known but to God.
The Tomb was placed above the grave of the Unknown Soldier of World War I. West of the World War

The Man Who Would Be King Imperialism
Imperialism is the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign
countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies. Rudyard Kipling has expressed his
beliefs towards imperialism and its meaning in several of his works, especially in The Man Who
Would Be King . In this particular story, two Englishmen go on a dangerous journey to Kafiristan,
where they share the drams to become kings soon after their arrival. This is similar to the expansion of
the British Empire when it was first developing. The British have taken over many territories around

The idea to take over the natives and their villages was all part of their plan. The two Englishmen did
not leave India without weapons. They had their camels carry twenty martini rifles that they had hid
under a large pile of whirligigs and children s mud toys. The action shocked the narrator as Kipling
did not expect his friends to be so prepared to take the throne. This showed that Dravot and Carnehan
were very serious about becoming kings, so much so that they were willing to use force. After a
couple attacks on the Indians, the Englishmen spoke to some village chiefs and had lied to them about
their identities, they wanted to create fear among them. Dravot states, This is a tremenjus business,
and we ve got the whole country as far as its worth having. I am the son of Alexander by Queen
Semiramis, and you re my younger brother and a god too! in this quote Dravot is explaining to
Carnehan how the natives view them as gods not humans. Carnehan recalls in another scene that
Dravot also promised the Indians that every man [would] eat in peace and drink in quiet in exchange
for their obedience. His rehearsed speech worked in hi favor as he gained the loyalty he wanted.

Thyroid Gland ( Tg )
Introduction
Thyroid gland (TG) secretes thyroxin and triiodothyronine (Garber et al., 2012). Its main function is to
make hormones and main job is to produce hormones T4 and T3 (Mortimer, 2011). To do this the
human TG has to take a form of iodine from the bloodstream into the human TG (Garber et al., 2012).
This substance then undergoes a numerous of different chemical reactions which resulted in the
production of T3 and T4 (Mortimer, 2011). In order to make T4 and T3, TG needs iodine, a substance
found in the food, both T4 and T3 contains four atoms of iodine. T4 is then converted to T3 through
the cells and tissues of the human body. More active hormone is T3, because it influences the activity
of all the cells and tissues of the human body. Thyroid is controlled by hormones produced by
hypothalamus and pituitary. Besides, these secreted hormones in the TG are essential for normal
growth, better development and metabolic function. Thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) stimulates
the pituitary to secrete TSH which in turn acts on the TG to cause synthesis and secretion of thyroid
hormones. Altered thyroid function is common and respectively the release of TRH and TSH enable
feedback of the hormones on the pituitary and hypothalamus to inhibit synthesis. For example, a
prevalence of hypothyroidism has been reported in the literature that up to ten percentage in the
general population is possible expected to occur.
It is an essential to have accurate assays of thyroid

(Just quickly, I want to say that this film does deal with sensitive material relating to sexual

Consommé begins with a young woman leaving an apartment building late at night after a fight with
someone. She begins walking briskly through the streets of Brooklyn. The viewer then sees this same

Either she doesn t sense his presence or she s trying to ignore it because she s sure she s being

In contrast to the dark, foreboding, dangerous night flashbacks, the current shots of the woman waking
up are all well lit, bright with sunshine, and full of light colors. They are quiet and peaceful. However,
the woman s face and body are beaten up pretty badly. She has cuts and bruises on her legs and face,
reminding the viewer of the brutal attack she endured the night before. At this point in the film, the
viewer still doesn t know exactly how the attack will end will the man just beat her up? Will he rape
her? Will she have to go to the hospital?
The final flashback moment I will discuss, so as not to give away the ending, is the moment this
woman realizes she is going to be sexually assaulted. Prior to this, the man had been just beating her
up in the alley. He was kicking her and throwing her around. However, he pins her up against a
vehicle in the alley and the woman hears him begin to undo his belt buckle. When she realizes what is

The financial statements of the State of California convey valuable information to outside users about
the State s fiscal position and how it utilizes financial resources. The objective of this essay is to
identify five things that I can ascertain about the State of California from these financial statements.
One thing you can learn from the financial statements is how many legally separate entities the State

they are discretely presented as if they are a separate fund of the primary government. Component

While it is unfair to compare the magnitudes of these numbers without providing scale, it does speak
to the differences in scale between California and Ohio. For Ohio, OSU represents just 39.11% of total
expenses and 19.70% of total net expense for component units. More information can be found about
both Universities in their respective state s Discretely Presented Component Units Financial
Statements section.
To find information on the blended component units, you must review the component units section of
the Overview of the Financial Statements (Government wide Financial Statements). The blended
component units include the California Public Employees Retirement System and the California State
Teachers Retirement System as well as other Fiduciary component units. Since these units are blended
into the primary government s financial statements, it is harder to dissect any pertinent information
from them. This represents one thing you can learn about from a government s financial statements:
how many component units it has and particular figures for any discretely presented component units.
The next thing you can learn from a government s financial statements is about its infrastructure.
Typically states elect to use the modified approach for capitalizing infrastructure. Under this approach,

The Segregation Of African American Culture
I feel for the most part the characteristics in this united or consistent with my experience in the African
American culture. Slavery did set us back some years, but I have to say it has made us stronger. Most
of us had to face great obstacles to get in a good place, but no matter what we keep making it through
the adversity. After slavery, we as a culture had to make it through the jim crow laws. This sparked the
civil right movement that gave blacks a voice to speak out against the injustice that had been quietly
dealt with for years. In most of these different processes blacks had to face a criminal justice system
that never seemed to be on their side. Blacks had to literally practice before the went up to testify in
court in the justice system because of the very rigid injustice presented in courts. Blacks did earn their
right to vote in the justice system, and they did earn their freedom in the justice system, but the justice
system was geared for whites and not blacks, but through actual quoting the actual law, blacks was
able to fight for their freedom. The actual law did protect its people. but it is what people inject into
laws the are discriminating. Later, came the muslim movement that made blacks realise that they
control their own destiny. African Americans has even came up as for in the middle class, but the
problem is that it is a big gap between the low class and the middle. Most Blacks feel they cannot trust

The Founding Fathers of the United States established the Rule of Law. This idea of the Rule of Law
made it so citizens were seen as equals. There was no one person who was above the law. Each person
is accountable for their actions and each person is equal to the next, even political leaders. The
Constitution of the United States helped shape the political regime of the country. It established the
separation of powers so that no one office holds too much power. Not only did the Constitution
establish the separation of powers, but it also helped establish Federalism. Because of Federalism it
separated authority between nation and state. This gave each state their power to create their own
laws, policies, and judicial system. The Constitution hits three major roles, national, state, and
individual rights. The Bill of Rights lays out rights of the individuals that they were entitled to being a
part of the US. Some of these individual rights are freedom of speech, religion, press, and assembly.
The Constitution of the United States is the longest standing Constitution still in practice. Two
centuries after the constitution was drafted, it still remains in effect and is a crucial part of the United
States government. The United States is comprised of different branches of government. At the
national level there are three institutions; Legislature, Judiciary, and the President. Each institution
plays different roles in the

My Long Term and Short Term Goals
Professional and Personal Goals December 12, 2011
Someone famous once wrote, A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. That s deep!
But, in a way, it s obvious and should go without saying. However, so many people try to just jump
the whole thousand miles at once and seem to forget that careful steps and rest stops must be made
along the way to successfully (the main word is successfully ) complete that journey. I ve had my
goals and aspirations for a long time but I m not sure that I ever started out in the most organized
fashion. My professional goals remain the same but I now realize that effective time management is
the main way to achieve my goals in a less stressful manner. I understand ... Show more content on

My original plan was to pursue my Bachelor s Degree after my sons graduated college, since I support
them financially, but when I realized that most of the hospitals require nurses to have a bachelor s
degree, I decided that the sooner I start working towards my professional long term goal, the better. It
goes without saying that the two most important milestones to achieving this goal will be my sons
individual graduation days.
My personal long term goal is to go back to my country of Haiti and offer my assistance to those who
have experienced and still experience the hardships and tragedies which the country has undergone.
When I left home and came to the United States, I came with a high school diploma but could speak
no English. As a single mother, I raised my four sons, worked, and went to school. With the help of
scholarships and financial aid, I obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. I want to pay it forward , as
they say, and give back to my country so that others could receive the same opportunity as I did. This
long term personal goal will be greatly influenced by finances. Therefore, one of the milestones to
achieving this goal is tied into my professional goals (both long and short term). I will need to acquire
one of those more stable positions at one of the area hospitals and I will have to be working there for
at least a few years before I would feel comfortable enough to ask for time to return to my country to
assist. This is where a timeline

Bulimia Nervos Anorexia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa Bulimia originated in Greece, from the word boulimia, which is defined as extreme
hunger (the Bella Vita, 2013). Bulimia falls into the category of being a purge disorder, a lot of the
time people that struggle with bulimia may have times where they battle with anorexia nervosa,
meaning they restrict themselves from eating. There have been so many cases where people battle
with bulimia for years upon years, despite the large variety of treatment there is. There are many
perspectives that people express on how eating disorders begin. Many people associate eating
disorders with wanting to be thin, peer pressure, and pressure from parents. Treatment and medical
attention are very important if you want to overcome bulimia. Because this disorder can lead to
permanent damage to the body or even death, it is imperative that you get the necessary treatment. .
Overview
According to the American Psychiatric Association (2013) bulimia nervosa is when a person has
repeatedly binged when eating. During the binge phase, the person will have very little control over
their actions and consume large amounts of food in a short period of time. Typically a person battling
with bulimia will exhibit inappropriate behaviors to refrain from gaining weight by exercising
excessively, using laxatives, vomiting, taking medications, diuretics, and fasting. It is required that the
person continue these behaviors for at least once a week for three months, and there is a major

Promotion Strategy Essay
At its heart, promoting a product is simply communication. Consumer perceptions are a key
component of success or failure, so organizations must strive to align communications into clear,
concise, and customer oriented messages (Lumen, n.d). The point of promotion is to convince
consumers to purchase the intended product. There are several promotion methods to choose from and
nearly limitless media to use for promotion. Marketing departments must choose the method or
methods and media that best reach the target consumer. In order to further illustrate the use of
promotion methods and media, promotion strategies have been developed for a software company, a
new toy, a health beverage, and a small airline.

Overall, this approach is indicative of the importance of the customer to the organization. It has
another benefit as well. When a small company uses multiple salespeople to contact a client it helps
the company appear larger than it is (Lumen, n.d.). There are a couple of types of media the
organization should use. First, submit the software to www.cnet.com for review. This will provide a
point of reference for anyone researching animation software and provide impartial judgment on the
merits of the software. Second, contact ideal customers and schedule a presentation of the new
advanced software. Once complete, offer a sample version of the software (with reduced functionality)
so it can be operated prior to purchasing the full version. Since there are many small companies that
create video games and other animation, I suggest attending trade shows. According to the Animation
World Network website, there are 19 tradeshows in the next 3 months (Events, n.d.). The organization
can also attend shows frequented by animators such as the E3 and South by Southwest conferences.
The proper use of these methods will ensure the news of this innovative animation software reaches
the intended target audience. While this plan works in this scenario, it does not necessarily apply to all
products.

  • 2. Plato s The Symposium And The Epic Of Gilgamesh Stairway to Immortality Besides being a phenomenal writer and philosopher, it seems Plato had the gift of foresight as well. At a glance, a Greek novel about love and an ancient Mesopotamian epic seem to have nothing in common. However, what is interesting to see is that not only do the two share very similar themes, but one acts as a how to guide for the other. In both novels, Plato s The Symposium and The Epic of Gilgamesh, the main protagonists deal with the concept of immortality. In Gilgamesh, the immortality Gilgamesh seeks to obtain is one that is fleeting and material, whereas Plato discusses the so called right kind of immortality that one finds via pursuing knowledgeable love. The Symposium shows how one can become immortal by following the correct path of love and Gilgamesh serves as an example of what happens when one does not follow those rules. Because Gilgamesh directs his desires toward immortality, but not the kind Diotima describes, he fails his quest and remains miserable. Gilgamesh directs his desire not to reach the top of Diotima s ladder, which is to become immortal by loving and spreading wisdom, and because of this, he can never become immortal. The Symposium revolves around a Greek party made up of various men throwing around their views on love, building up to height of the evening by a speech from Socrates. Socrates knows the true way to obtain love, and tells of a tale between him and his mentor, Diotima. Through Diotima, Socrates is able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We have been approved for a vehicle loan of $15,000 with a two percent interest rate through the local credit union, which would make our payments $232 per month. It is very important we find a dealership in our community that has a great reputation. This dealership also needs a service department to assist us with any future mechanical needs. The vehicles will need a CARFAX report available to give a detailed list of possible accidents, service record, number of owners, and the states where the vehicle has been registered. This is the most important information needed to make a good decision. 4. This model allows us to choose based on what works best for our budget and our needs. There are simple things such as paint color that are not as important as price and mileage. Over all we were able to make the best choice since it was one we would be stuck with for a while. 5.

Students say is right to do all of this things but is not. I say we fight for what s right and tell the Principal of each school their is on the world to react and start checking the students things so the students who are responsible enough don t get hurt. Student s processions may be searched at any time because it keep kids safe, it keeps kids from being harm, and it keeps kids from getting hurt online. As stated earlier to why students processions may be searched at any time is because it keep kids. The evidence to support this is that many students are prevented from such intrusions like violation of personal rights. This means that one student might be doing something very dangerous at school. For example, that might be that a student brought a knife to school and no one knows. Well if the teachers had the right to look through the student things nothing bad would happen and us kids would be safe. People may argue that student s processions may not be searched at any time while many of us worry about ourselves and our parents also worry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest history aspects of the film will centralize on how WWII and post war USSR have affected her career, individuality and personal life. Also, the film will contain parts where people, who knew or worked with Maya Plisetskaya, will share memories and their points of view on some of the events, shown in the film. This part will start with a very interesting event that occurred in 1997. Suddenly it began to rain during Plisetskaya s outdoor performance of The Dying Swan. However, the audience forgot to open their umbrellas as they were fascinated by her show. Also, another remarkable thing happened. A designer Pierre Cardin was a part of the audience that day, and at the end of the show the ballerina and the designer were formally introduced. After their meeting, Cardin created dance costumes and evening wear for Plisetskaya. Maya Plisetskaya had taken the world. She was officially recognized as one of the greatest ballerinas. • 10. The Final Infinite Interval And Exponential Gegenbauer... In this paper, we introduce two new functions on the semi infinite interval namely Rational Gegenbauer and Exponential Gegenbauer functions and we apply them as basis functions in Tau method to solve the boundary layer flow of a magneto micropolar fluid on a continuous moving plate with suction and injection. These functions are a general case of rational Chebyshev and Legendre functions and this is the first time that they are used in Tau method. The operational matrices of derivative and product of rational and exponential Gegenbauer functions are also presented. These new matrices together with the Tau method are then utilized to reduce the solution of the governing equations to the solution of a system of nonlinear algebraic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many problems of physics and engineering lead naturally to the resolution of differential equations in unbounded domains and semi infinite domains. In the context of spectral methods, a number of approaches have been proposed and investigated for treating these problems. The most common method is the use of polynomials that are orthogonal over unbounded domains, such as the Hermite and Laguerre spectral methods [10, 11, 12, 13]. Guo [14, 15] proposed a method that proceeds by mapping the original problem in an unbounded domain to a problem in a bounded domain, and then using suitable Jacobi polynomials to approximate the resulting problems. Another approach is using the domain truncation method by choosing sufficiently large for replacing the infinite domain with and the semi infinite interval with [16]. There is another effective direct approach for solving such problems which is based on the rational approximations. Christov [17] and Boyd [18, 19] developed some spectral methods on unbounded intervals using mutually orthogonal systems of rational functions. Boyd [18] defined a new spectral basis, named rational Chebyshev functions on the semi infinite interval, by mapping to the Chebyshev polynomials. Guo et al. [20] introduced a new set of rational Legendre functions which are mutually orthogonal in . They applied a spectral scheme using the rational Legendre functions for solving the Korteweg de Vries equation on the half line. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Supernatural Aid In Campbell s A Once And Future King Like the training wheels on a child s bike, help is given in order to make the new rider stronger and better able to control the dynamics of a newly discovered notion. In Campbell s eyes, the same concept correlates with the help given to a hero. This help making them wiser, stronger and better able to face the challenges offered by adventure. The help may include the distribution of maps, weapons, or something more mythical, some sort of supernatural aid. This aid, according to Campbell, is always in the form of a mentor, a wise, old prune that completes the tasks of foreseeing the hero to victory. Merlyn, in the story A Once and Future King, better adheres to Campbell s vision regarding the magical guide in the heroic journey. The concept of a magical guide or supernatural aid informs the audience of unworldly guidance that follows after the acceptance of The Call to Adventure . The texts A Once and Future King and Le Morte d Arthur both exemplify an entity, Merlyn, that invades the life of a hero, Arthur, as an aid in order to guide him to victory regarding his journey and adventure. Heroes are often began on their trip by a character who has aced the laws of the outside world and returns to offer wisdom and experience. This otherworldly character or magical guide regularly gives the hero the way to conquer the adventure. As a less than dependable rule the blessing is just insight. In each occurrence it is something the hero needs to succeed. As Campbell says, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Obesity Is The Reason Our Youth Introduction Childhood obesity has been on a steady incline over the past 30 years and is considered a serious public health concern, especially in elementary school aged children. According to the US Surgeon General, nearly one in three children are overweight or obese (US Department of Human Health Services, 2014). The American Heart Association (2010) has age and sex specific growth charts that show the calculation of children s BMI using their height and weight. When children s weight is well above the average for their height and age they are classified as obese. Children BMI for age is in the 95th percentile or higher is considered to be obese. Obese children normally consume more energy in the form of food and drinks then they burn off with physical exercise (Kids Health, 2014). Our nation s obesity epidemic effects are immense: taxpayers, communities, and families spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year in medical costs and attempts to end childhood obesity (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2014). Obesity is the reason our youth is predicted to live shorter lives than our parents and we need to change this. Childhood obesity has long term harmful effects on a child s future health. Obese children are more likely to have high blood pressure and high cholesterol which put them more at risk for cardiovascular disease in the future (Center for Disease Control Prevention, 2014). • 17. Evolution Of Divorce And The Consequences It Has On Todays... For my research project, I would like to explore the evolution of divorce/marriage and the consequences it has on todays society. In todays society the definition of family has dramatically changed, both by structure and by definition. Divorce is now the norm. Today in the United States it is believed that the divorce rate hovers at about 50% and that one of every six adults divorces two or more times. Why has this become normal, and what can we do to fix this? I believe that by taking a step back and focusing on marriage, and really knowing who your marrying, we could see a significant drop in divorce and the problems developing in each generation. Divorce is never something to be taken lightly. In this paper I will examine the unfolding of divorce and how it evolved into what it is today, therefore shed some light on possibilities to undercut the still rising divorce rate. While I go through this paper I will give you a complete background on the former marriage regime and how divorce was in the past vs now. While divorce is helpful for some people it can also be a difficult and painful process for others. My goal is to not come off as one sided but to really educate you on the background of marriage and divorce and hopefully learn from our past mistakes. My position is that we need to understand the effects and the consequences of divorce so we can reevaluate how we view and define divorce, and therefore marriage. How has divorce revolutionized, what can we do to fix ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will also explore the role the common man plays in the structure of the play and his effect on the audience. The Common Man is the only character who speaks directly to the audience, which I think is important as it means they can feel part of the play: there is interaction between the audience and actors. This communication may increase the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Common Man s comments on the characters may also raise moral issues amongst the audience. For example, the Common Man remarks on More s wilful indifference to realities. In one sense the audience may agree with this as they may feel More does not take a very realistic approach to government. This is illustrated in scene two, when More and Wosley are discussing the divorce, they may feel that Thomas s ideal to govern the country by prayer is not very practical. Wosley: you d like that wouldn t you? To govern the country by prayer? More: Yes I should However, others may disagree with the Common Man and think that More is realistic in judgement. • 19. John Locke, a British Philosopher, Studied the Knowledge... John Locke (b. 1632, d. 1704) was a British philosopher, Oxford academic and medical researcher. Locke s monumental An Essay Concerning Human Understanding (1689) is one of the first great defenses of empiricism and concerns itself with determining the limits of human understanding in respect to a wide spectrum of topics. It thus tells us in some detail what one can legitimately claim to know and what one cannot. Locke s association with Anthony Ashley Cooper (later the First Earl of Shaftesbury) led him to become successively a government official charged with collecting information about trade and colonies, economic writer, opposition political activist, and finally a revolutionary whose cause ultimately triumphed in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Among Locke s political works he is most famous for The Second Treatise of Government in which he argues that sovereignty resides in the people and explains the nature of legitimate government in terms of natural rights and the social contract. He is also famous for calling for the separation of Church and State in his Letter Concerning Toleration. Much of Locke s work is characterized by opposition to authoritarianism. This is apparent both on the level of the individual person and on the level of institutions such as government and church. For the individual, Locke wants each of us to use reason to search after truth rather than simply accept the opinion of authorities or be subject to superstition. He wants us to ... The purpose of the model is to distinguish factors that can impede change from happening; forces that are in opposition to change often called restraining or static forces and forces that promote change, referred to as driving forces . When health care organizations fully understand what behaviors drive or oppose change, then work to reinforce the positive driving forces, change can happen successfully (Bozak, 2003). To avoid the problems of common mode voltage variations a new DTC algorithm was developed, in which, only odd or only even voltage vectors will be applied in each sector in which stator flux lies without using any zero voltage vectors. • 35. Thyroid Gland ( Tg ) Introduction Thyroid gland (TG) secretes thyroxin and triiodothyronine (Garber et al., 2012). Its main function is to make hormones and main job is to produce hormones T4 and T3 (Mortimer, 2011). To do this the human TG has to take a form of iodine from the bloodstream into the human TG (Garber et al., 2012). This substance then undergoes a numerous of different chemical reactions which resulted in the production of T3 and T4 (Mortimer, 2011). In order to make T4 and T3, TG needs iodine, a substance found in the food, both T4 and T3 contains four atoms of iodine. T4 is then converted to T3 through the cells and tissues of the human body. More active hormone is T3, because it influences the activity of all the cells and tissues of the human body. Thyroid is controlled by hormones produced by hypothalamus and pituitary. Besides, these secreted hormones in the TG are essential for normal growth, better development and metabolic function. Thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) stimulates the pituitary to secrete TSH which in turn acts on the TG to cause synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. Altered thyroid function is common and respectively the release of TRH and TSH enable feedback of the hormones on the pituitary and hypothalamus to inhibit synthesis. For example, a prevalence of hypothyroidism has been reported in the literature that up to ten percentage in the general population is possible expected to occur. The next thing you can learn from a government s financial statements is about its infrastructure. Typically states elect to use the modified approach for capitalizing infrastructure. Mount Saint Helens was the biggest volcano in Washington. The eruption was also one of the biggest in a while. So many parents/grandparents in the Washington area remember it. I interviewed my mom to tell me what it was like. When the eruption happened my mom remembers seeing a curtain of ash coming towards Spokane. My mom was working at Ihop when everyone was told to leave early so they could get home safely. So my mom went home to check on her family. • 39. The Segregation Of African American Culture I feel for the most part the characteristics in this united or consistent with my experience in the African American culture. Slavery did set us back some years, but I have to say it has made us stronger. Most of us had to face great obstacles to get in a good place, but no matter what we keep making it through the adversity. After slavery, we as a culture had to make it through the jim crow laws. This sparked the civil right movement that gave blacks a voice to speak out against the injustice that had been quietly dealt with for years. In most of these different processes blacks had to face a criminal justice system that never seemed to be on their side. Blacks had to literally practice before the went up to testify in court in the justice system because of the very rigid injustice presented in courts. Blacks did earn their right to vote in the justice system, and they did earn their freedom in the justice system, but the justice system was geared for whites and not blacks, but through actual quoting the actual law, blacks was able to fight for their freedom. The actual law did protect its people. but it is what people inject into laws the are discriminating. Later, came the muslim movement that made blacks realise that they control their own destiny. African Americans has even came up as for in the middle class, but the problem is that it is a big gap between the low class and the middle. Most Blacks feel they cannot trust the police, and I believe it is from the past. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perhaps unknowingly to Ross this method of voluntarily providing reference created a hostile environment, defamed the character of each individual listed in her written document. According to Walsh (2013), defamation claims is when a person makes a statement about another person, that may damage his or her reputation and the ability for him or her to provide for self. Ross as an employer has a right to provide background information to future employer but attack of an individual s character or providing meritless information is inappropriate and unjust. Ross directly states in her letter, I do not recommend , which bring in the question the character and ability to perform work, of the individuals listed, including Davis. Finding Meaning in Albert Camus’ The Plague Essay Finding Meaning in Albert Camus The Plague Socrates, a Greek philosopher, once said that the unexamined life is not worth living (Apology 38b). Like Socrates, Albert Camus believed that a man needs to live meaningfully. In his novel The Plague Camus creates characters who are forced to think, reflect, and assume responsibility for living as they battle an epidemic of bubonic plague that is ravaging the Algerian port of Oran. For ten months as the outbreak isolates the city from the rest of the world, each of the citizens reacts in a unique way. Camus main characters undergo both individual and social transformations. Rieux believes that man has to do what is necessary while he is alive and must believe in humanity: . . . Rieux was thinking it was only right that those whose desires are limited to man and his humble yet formidable love should enter, if only now and then, into their reward (Camus 301). When the gates of Oran are opened, Rieux writes a chronicle of the plague hoping to teach others a lesson. He wants them to witness the admirable qualities in men and the injustice they endure. As a doctor he knows that the plague bacillus can lie dormant for long periods and then resurface. Although man may never be the victor over the plague and the loss of life it inflicts, he can better manage life s adversities in the future. Another important character is Raymond Rambert, a Parisian journalist, who goes through a metamorphosis over the course of the epidemic. He finds himself trapped in Oran when the gates of the city are closed. This determined young man tries to escape in any way possible because he feels that Oran s problems are none of his concern since he is an outsider. Rambert s appeals to the civil authorities are unsuccessful. He asks Dr. Rieux to help his cause and is enraged when Rieux refuses. He then offers money to smugglers for his escape. Later during an exchange Rieux tells him: . . . for nothing in the world would I try to dissuade you from what you re going to do; it seems to me absolutely right and proper. ... It goes without saying that the two most important milestones to achieving this goal will be my sons individual graduation days. My personal long term goal is to go back to my country of Haiti and offer my assistance to those who have experienced and still experience the hardships and tragedies which the country has undergone. When I left home and came to the United States, I came with a high school diploma but could speak no English. As a single mother, I raised my four sons, worked, and went to school. With the help of scholarships and financial aid, I obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. I want to pay it forward , as they say, and give back to my country so that others could receive the same opportunity as I did. This long term personal goal will be greatly influenced by finances. Therefore, one of the milestones to achieving this goal is tied into my professional goals (both long and short term). When a small company uses multiple salespeople to contact a client it helps the company appear larger than it is (Lumen, n.d.). There are a couple of types of media the organization should use. First, submit the software to www.cnet.com for review. This will provide a point of reference for anyone researching animation software and provide impartial judgment on the merits of the software. Second, contact ideal customers and schedule a presentation of the new advanced software. Once complete, offer a sample version of the software (with reduced functionality) so it can be operated prior to purchasing the full version. Since there are many small companies that create video games and other animation, I suggest attending trade shows. According to the Animation World Network website, there are 19 tradeshows in the next 3 months (Events, n.d.).
