In This Paper I’M Gonna Be Talking About The 12 Stages
In this paper I m gonna be talking about the 12 stages of life development considering the main
points of each stage and the milestones. The stages I will be talking about is Pre birth which is
the stage of potential, Birth is the stage of Hope, Infancy (Ages 0 3) Vitality, Early Childhood
(Ages 3 6) Playfulness, Middle Childhood (Ages 6 8) Imagination, Late Childhood (Ages 9 11)
Ingenuity, Adolescence (Ages 12 20) Passion, Early Adulthood (Ages 20 35) Enterprise, Midlife
(Ages 35 50) Contemplation, Mature Adulthood (Ages 50 80) Benevolence, Late Adulthood (Ages

The third stage of labor happens after you baby has come out, when your womb contracts and
the placenta comes out through the vagina. Infancy is the stage or period of early childhood this
is where the kid is full of energy learning where to crawl, roll over and sit up and eventually how
to walk. Very basic skills are learned during through this period such as, coordination and the
ability to represent images and objects with words. A lot of the child s features also change
during this stage. Early Childhood is a stage in human development. It includes toddlerhood and
some time afterwards also this is where children play. However this is where language is learned
and being used, they take what is and they combine it with what is possible. Also this is the stage
where children become very curious asking Who? What? When? Where? And Why? Furthermore
this is when the child develops a huge imagination and a imaginary friends. Middle Childhood is
a time where where children develop their skills for building healthy social relationships with
other children or adults. Also this is the stage that will prepare them for later developments such
as Adolescence and Adulthood. Additionally this is where the sense of an inner subjective self
develops for the first time, this is a time when sexual and aggressive urges are repressed aldo the
child learns the values of their

The International Accounting Standard Board
With the development of the globalization, the business connection between diverse countries is
becoming stronger and closer. Thus finding a uniform business language among different
enterprises is an increasingly important issue, which could help company owner to understand
better and evaluate various investment opportunities in foreigner countries. Accounting is widely
recognized as one of the most efficient and useful tools to communicate in the business word.
However, there are a large number of accounting standards in diverse financial markets, such as
Japan Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (JGAAP), Australian Accounting Standard (ASS)
and the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (US GAAP). To fill the gap between
discrepant accounting standard, the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) attempt to
set up universal accounting standard and make it universally accepted and applied. IASB has
established in 2001 April, which was reorganized by the International Accounting Standard
Committee (IASC), and its work is quickly approved by its target group. During this process, a
common conceptual framework was initially developed by a joint IASB FASB Project, which was
used as a basis for accounting standards. In 2012, this project was suspended and replaced by an
IASB only comprehensive project (reference). Initially, the conceptual framework was revised by
the IASB and the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB), which is the US national

The Distribution Of Wealth In The United States
The currency has evolved over the time of man. The sense of value created the act of buying goods
rather than trading for them. Earth s rarest gems and elements became a common currency
throughout the world. Gold was a particularly famous currency in the United States. The event of
the gold rush sent Americans out west to attempt to find gold. The United Stateshad already created
its national form of currency known as the US dollar. Americans saw great fortunate selling gold for
dollars. This event made some Americans wealthy. There are many factors that affect the
distribution of wealth in the United States. The time of events and history affect the distribution of
wealth in the United States.

Ariel Castro s Psychodynamic Perspective
Brief Summary Between the years of 2003 and 2013, Ariel Castro held three young women,
Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina Dejesus, captive. Over the course of the ten
years, they were beaten, raped, and dehumanized in horrifying ways. The young women kept
diaries that spoke of the violence that went on inside of Mr. Castro s house. For example, the
women wrote about how he forced them to be sexually active with him, locked in dark rooms for
long periods of time with the anticipation of abuse awaiting them, being treated like animals, etc.
Ariel Castro was a very sick man as he gained pleasure from watching his victims suffer. Social

divorce or when he was moving from his home affected him. It affected him and it affected his
further relationships he had with other people. Ariel Castro s id requires him to satisfy his basis
urges, needs, and desires. He felt the need to satisfy his desire by capturing those three women
and holding them captive for a decade. Castro s ego dealt with the reality of trying to meet his
desires. Since the desires were not met instantly, the ego helped get rid of the tension Castro felt
when he could not capture those women instantly. However, Castro pushed aside the part of the
ego where he would reap the consequences of his actions. Even though the superego is based on
moral values, Ariel Castro also put his moral values aside before committing the

Lanchester System Case Study
In this paper, an interactive tool using the shiny package in R code was developed to better
understand the interactions between X and Y forces along with their appropriate kill rates. The
Lanchester system was developed by F.W. Lanchester and consists of differential equations
where surviving combat units are defined by variables. This papers will focus on the Square
Law and a series of questions will be answered throughout. The interactive tool created can be
seen in Appendix B of this report as well as the code which is still under development. As you will
note while using the tool, for some cases a forcewill go negative, but that is not correct when in
fact the variable should be at zero. This issue can be worked around and will be something that is
corrected in the near future.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the Y forces send at least 60 more personnel on the 20th unit of time then the battle will only go
for another 26 units and the Y force will cause X to retreat due to lack of force and rate. On the
other hand, if the X force sent another 10 soldiers then this battle would be over and the X force
would have won at 20 units of time. See Appendix A for graphs of X forces winning at 20 units
and Y force winning at 46 units with an additional 60 soldiers in Figures 9 and 10.
In summary, the Lanchester square law model is a simple but very informative model. It gives
the combat analyst a better understanding of forces against rates over time. I found it very
effective making a simple interactive tool to better understand how different rates and forces vary
outcomes over a specific amount of time. It was very impressive to see that the approximate and
exact values having such a low percent error as

As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner
As I Lay Dying
William Faulkner
Entry 1
Beginning As I Lay Dying, I am already struggling with the dialect of the novel. This confusion
is deepened because I had no prior knowledge of the characters and plot. There are many
characters that Faulkner mentions in the first twenty five pages of the novels and so I was
trying to connect the characters and find out who was who. Faulkner also constantly refers to
Addie as she . This confused me at first because I didn t know who Faulkner was referring to and
how Addie was related to all of the other characters. I found that as long as I read very slowly and
pay attention to detail, I can understand the language of the story better than I expected. I was able
to connect all the characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is making the characters unrelatable so I hope that I improve on understanding the dialect of
the novel.
Entry 3
I find that I am having trouble reading some characters narrations more than others. Cash s
narrations are the simplest to read as his thoughts are fairly straightforward to follow and his
narration doesn t move from one idea to another. Vardaman, Dewey Dell and Darl all have
narrations that are difficult to follow because their thoughts move rapidly from one idea to another.
Vardaman is a child and his narration is the most difficult to understand because of the childish
manner it is written in. Dewey Dell also expresses very complicated thoughts. Dewey Dell begins
her narration using only he to identify who she is thinking about. She also continually refers to
herself and him as a tub of guts. Darl is very thoughtful and his thoughts move from one topic to
something completely different and so I find his narration very difficult to follow.
Entry 4
There have been many examples of animal symbolism in As I Lay Dying. I didn t understand what
Vardaman meant when he first says my mother is a fish (76) and later when Darl says Jewel s
mother is a horse (86). I went back in the novel and read about that the fish Vardaman caught was
chopped to pieces and no longer recognizable. When Vardaman says his mother is a fish, Vardaman
is saying that his mother is no longer recognizable to him

There are several items that a checkpoint can confiscate, as long as the items are negatively
affecting the workplace or pose a risk to other employees, such as guns or adult entertainment.
What gets a bit trickier is when they can take electronic devices at checkpoints, such as cell
phones and hard drives. For a checkpoint to take these items they has to be a policy in place that
forbids these types of devices onsite, the same way cellphones are not allowed in classified
meetings. Additional, this is the only time the company can search an employee s body, consisting
of a pat down to ensure there are no weapons on the subject. However, if the security staff takes any
items from MR. Yourporp, they cannot begin searchingthought the information contained on his
electronic devices and they must be held in a designated location for confiscated items. Not
following these procedures could lead to jail time as was the case with an incident at the O Hare
Airport (Hilkevitch, 2001). One exception depends on if the devices are company owned or not,
if the device is company owned then they have every right to collect their devices in order to
search the device during a security check. Searching the device at this time would be unwise, so
many companies would have the item taken to their forensic team to search the

King Henry Iv Part 1 Analysis
In the creation of a text the composer s choices relating to the ways in which they construct the
text are used to position the responder towards a desired interpretation. This is particularly evident
in texts concerning people and politics as the composers shaping of the text manipulates the
responder to favour a particular political view or person s perspective. In the play King Henry IV
Part One (c.1597) writerWilliam Shakespeare constructs the text so that the audience conforms to
his idea of the rightful ruler as influenced by his personal and historical context. Similarly, in the
television series The Borgias (2011) created by Neil Jordan the text is constructed so that the
audience favours the corrupt Pope despite his flaws, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This conflict is the result of the opposing views of who is the best option for the next Pope and
therefore what is best for Rome. Della Rovere believes that while Borgia has organising genius
the church more importantly needs honesty, propriety and goodness , all of which he accuses
Borgia of lacking. Both Borgia and della Rovere are corrupt, however, the audience is positioned
to support the Borgia despite his flaws. He is portrayed as the Spanish white Moor and the
despised underdog. However his ambition and determination fuels him to achieve his goals and
the audience is positioned to admire this. This is particularly evident in a scene in the first
episode between Borgia and della Rovere where the two were sat next to each other in a
darkened hallway. Della Rovere threatens Borgia asserting, I shall fight you to the end and
beyond if that need be, with any means necessary. Della Rovere is characterised through the used
of lighting, he is shown in shadows and darkness. Whereas Borgia is illuminated by the opposing
window when he says, I do tend to win whatever battles I fight before symbolically rising above
della Rovere. Through this characterisation the audience is positioned to align with Borgia over
della Rovere in this

Sexuality In Brokeback Mountain
Sexuality can affect not only behavior, but also ones role in a social structure. Jack Twist, a rodeo
cowboy, and Ennis Del Mar, in the movie Brokeback Mountain, encounter a sexual experience
with each other and are not positively sure on how to react to it. A rancher, Joe Aguirre, hired Jack
and Ennis as sheepherders, their work took place on Brokeback Mountainlocated in Wyoming.
After months of lonely work on this mountain, Jack and Ennis finally began to appreciate each
other s company. No matter how bad the weather got and how tired they were, their work
continued and eventually these two men, who were initially strangers to each other, formed a
bond. It was a cold night on the job and Jack and Ennis were all set up at camp bonding... Show

It was time for them to part ways and end what they secretly had on Brokeback Mountain. A
question many people would ask is; why would they not continue to love each other and stay
together? The answer is social structure affected them. Social structure is the relationship
between different entities or groups or as enduring and relatively stable patterns of relationship
and emphasizes the idea that society is grouped into structurally related groups or sets of roles,
with different functions, meanings or purposes. (Merton) In Ennis and Jacks society, they both
played a role of straight men that work for the American dream. Their secret relationship would
not be accepted in society, which is why they decided to say goodbye instead of continuing their
love for each other. As time went on, they both settled down and got married. Ennis married a
woman named Alma and had two daughters while Jack found a female rodeo rider. Years passed
by and everything seemed to be working out until one day Jack visited Ennis after about twenty
years from when they were together last. Alma saw Jack and Ennis greet each other with love and
kissing. This shocked Alma and put her in a situation not knowing how to handle it. Jack and Ennis
continued to visit each other and would take spontaneous trips to Brokeback Mountain to relive the
old days. Jack was persistent with the

The Social Cognitive Theory Of A Dynamic And Reciprocal...
OVERVIEW:
The social cognitive theory in essence is the theory that proposes behavior is a result of personal,
behavioral, and environmental factors that influence each other in a dynamic and reciprocal
fashion. Environments shape behaviors, but individuals have the power to influence the
environment as well as their own behaviors through self reflection and self regulatory process.
Personal factors involve people s thoughts and beliefs about the desired outcomes, their ability to
perform the behavior or self efficacy and ability to take charge. They may also have personal
barriers in the way. In order to overcome these personal factors they will need goal setting, relapse
prevention and reinforcement of positive outcomes. Behavioral ... Show more content on

The popularity of this program stems from the focus on behaviors, which are impacted by several
factors. Social cognitive theory states, behavior is the result of personal, behavioral, and
environmental factors that influence each other in dynamic and reciprocal fashion (Contento,
2011). People s thoughts and feelings, knowledge and skills, and physical and social environment,
all impact the actions, behaviors and choices related towards health and nutrition. Interventions that
used social cognitive theory in the field of nutrition include Challenge!, EatFit, Choice, Control, and
Change and Planet Health. These programs encompass the main principles and strengths of social
cognitive theory and yielded successful results.
INTERVENTIONS:
Challenge! is an example of an effective program that utilized social cognitive theory. Its goal was
to promote health and prevent obesity in African American youths, between the ages of 11 16. The
program recruited adolescents from low income, urban areas and implemented both home and
community based interventions for a total of twelve sessions (Black et al., 2010). One important
construct of social cognitive theory is observational learning, which Challenge! incorporated by
enlisting African American mentors who attended college. These mentors were crucial because
teenagers learn from observing the food related behaviors of

jumped up and down from a table. To better see how the tails reacted, the scientist shaved all of the
cats tails every week. The scientist had the cats walk the bride and would randomly move the

Dopamine In Nucleus Accumbins Research Paper
The Neurotransmitters of Addiction
The release of Dopamine in nucleus accumbens (NAs) via mesolimbic pathway mediate a positive
reinforcing phase that is critical for the development of addiction. For this reason, one might
deduce that addiction would no longer exist if a scientist were to create a way to block the dopamine
reward neural basis of addiction. However, elimination of addiction is more complex than that as it
requires treatment of its the neurological, psychological, genetic, and environmental components.
Dopamine is a natural chemical that plays a critical part in the brains reward based learning
system which is believed to have initially evolved a thousand years ago for survival purposes. A

How The Pig Farming Industry Affects Our Environment
The hog farming industry has always been one of controversy when it comes to its effects on the
environment, and with the green house gas emissions a pig farm produces and the spread of
disease through swine this is with good reason. Although the truth is that the industry has come a
very long way in the past 50 years in regards to its sustainability. The pigfarming industry as a
whole has been able to reduce its overall environmental impact and natural resources use by 50%
in the past 50 years according to a study done by Garth Boyd a well known researcher on
environmental footprints (Boyd). Even with the improvements made by the pig farming industry
there is still a need for change and major improvement in sustainable practices. First I will discuss
how the pig farming industry effects our environment. Although it is true a pig farmneeds water and
land to operate, the use of those natural resources is not the major problem with pig farms. It is
what goes in the air that is of concern. The pig manure and the decomposition of the manure over
time release three major gases of concern, methane, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide. There are
other gaseous compounds that may be emitted from decomposing manure but these three are the
principal gases in emissions. The level of emissions released by a farm will vary based on the
amount of manure being managed as well as the type of manure management system the farm has
in place. Flush pit with lagoon, deep pig with below building

Altitude Safety Essay
Changes in altitude have a profound effect on the human body. The body attempts to maintain a
state of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating environment for its complex
chemical systems. Any change from this homeostasis is a change away from the optimal operating
environment. The body attempts to correct this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of
increasing altitudeon the body s ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular
respiration. With an increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body
is forced to respond in various waysto the changes in external environment. Foremost of these
changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the... Show more content on

At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the digestive system
while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis covers the glottis when swallowing
so that food does not enter the lungs. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the
lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe
branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch
many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It
is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped
like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood
and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of
the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking,
1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses.
The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell.
The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected
related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli.
GAS TRANSFER To understand gas transfer it is important to first understand something about the
behavior of gases. Each gas in our atmosphere exerts its

The reason it changed is because Elton asked Bernie to and he saw no reason not to. Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road was based on childhood events of Taupin, which consisted of the first movie
he saw, The Wizard of Oz and growing up. Bernie wrote most of his songs about Elton but this
particular song is about him. The song was rumored to be about Judy Garland seeing that she
starred in the Wizard of Oz and the album art represents the Wizard of Oz. However, it was
actually about Elton s fame and fortune and to contrast of Bernie s attempts to remain low key

one of the top hits in the album. The music for this song was to represent glam rock . The lyrics
originated from movies, comic books, and a German photographer, Helmut Newton. The song
was a hit on R B chart. Elton was proud of making the chart due to that fact that he was
influenced by many African American musicians. Since the song has no meaning, Elton was

The Reflection Of The Robots
In 1948 a sci fi movie is released in theaters everywhere, the movie s premise is that robots has
dominated the human race and inserted their dominance on rest of the world. That story sounds
not real and couldn t be a future for today s society. However, even though evil robots are not real
technology taking control of the world is not so far fetch as the movies presents. In the article The
RobotInvasion by Charlie Gillis the authors presents the growing reality of robots becoming
functional tools or gadgets for people. The article also touches on a controversial topic of robots
removing ordinary workers from their jobs.Which could cause problems for many individuals
whom feed or survive in generally because of those jobs. The author uses three writing techniques
to convey strengthen his opinion to the audience, which includes an informative tone, credible facts,
and multiple bias source inclusion.

Leaders, Leadership, And Leadership
To Be a Leader Leadership is something that can come naturally to some, but challenging to
others. Some struggle to find their voice, while others are heard too much. In a busy world like
today, it is easy to spot leaders and their followers . But this is especially challenging for our
younger generation due to many things. But all young leaders and leaders in general, possess
similar traits that make them the leaders that they are. In my short essay, I will go over the
commitments and traits of a leader, challenges of being a young leader, and why do I consider
myself to be a leader. Being a leader is something that everyone puts their own spin on . Everyone
has a different approach to being a leader (some more effective than others). But all leaders have
the same traits, whether you see them or not. One of the traits that a leader can possess is the
ability to communicate with others. This is a key trait, because how will a leader plan or teach
something to others if you can t communicate with another. But a leader must consult with others
before making a decision and a leader must be some what persuasive. Another trait that a leader
must possess, is the ability to put personal problems aside. By doing this, a leader can make a
better choice and be a role model to others. A leader must also have commitment. No leader should
ever leave his/her followers if something goes wrong. A leader must be focused and determined to
complete the project or problem at hand. A

The Hallucinatory Effects Of The Counterculture In The 1960s
Counterculture is defined as a way of life and set of attitudes opposed to or at variance with the
prevailing social norm . The counterculture of the 1960s was an anti establishment movement based
in the UK and the US, which also played a huge role in the civil rights movements as it promoted
experimentation of sexuality, women s rights and illicit substances. Theodore Roszak in his book
The Making of a Counterculture states that the clear difference between the counterculture and the
New Left as he refers to the counterculture as a temporary style, continually sloughed off and left

5 Ways to Use Flashlight on Android Quickly
Smartphones are the modern Swizz army knives. We use them for much more than just calling and
texting in fact, most people spend more time doing other things than what the mobile phones were
originally designed to do. One of the coolest features in modern phones is the flashlight function.
Having a flashlight on your phone is actually practical. You often have your phone nearby,
whereas you probably keep your actual flashlight in an obscure closet. So, when the power goes
off, you are more likely to find your phone before you can stumble your way to find the torch.
Now, Androidphones come with a flashlight function as a built in feature in most models. If your
phone doesn t, you might want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will help you turn on the flashlight in a number of different ways. Once you download the app,
you can configure different actions that will create a sequence of events that ll lead to the flashlight
turning on. It s easy to do and it can make using the flashlight a lot more convenient.
Inside the app, you will need to choose an action (i.e. turning on the flashlight). You should then
configure this action and set the clicks sequence that leads to it. Configure the action settings and
you are good to go.
With the Google Assistant
You can also use Google Assistant to turn on the flashlight. You will need an Android phone with
support for the program, which means you need Android Marshmallow or higher to use Google
Assistant.
If you have it, you might want to open the Google Assistant and turn on the voice activation. This
means that when you say OK Google , the assistant will answer and act on your queries. So, when
the assistant is listening, you simply have to say, Turn on the flashlight and you have light!
If you haven t yet started using Google Assistant, you might want to give it a go. It has many cool
features aside from its ability to turn on the flashlight!
From the notification panel
If you are using Android Lollipop or higher, you can turn on the flashlight from the notification

The Cultural Celebration Of Puerto Rico
When we are young, we don t pay much attention to our family culture food traditions. Maybe we

December is here. The family gathering is approaching. Living on a tropical Island, in the
countryside waking up with the aroma of coffee in a nice breezy morning, the noise of the
chicken, dogs barking, pigs, and horses on the top of the mountain is normal. But it is
December 20th and there is an irregular noise outside, and when Juan walks outside he sees an
old man wearing a big hat, boots, and farm clothing, his face and body was covered with blood
and hair, but also there was a strong smell outside. That was when he notice the old man was
killing pigs in a nice sunny morning. You can hear the pig crying, you can see blood everywhere

Police Agencies And Police Enforcement Agencies
Abstract
It s important to address the issues police agency s faces on a regular. Police agencies have a
number of problems with controlling racial profiling, maintaining acceptable recruiting and
retaining a skilled workforce, and reducing community violence. These factors are extremely
indurate. However, the issues can be resolved. Law enforcement officers often force to face
negative stereotyping. Nevertheless, police agency s are able to overcome such an obstacle. There
exists a growing sentiment in many communities about the badness of all cops J. Tyler, D. (n.d.).
Police agencies are forced to deal with the struggle of defeating trust issues with the community.
Police have experienced problems with recruiting and selecting applicants. Since September 11,
2001, the problem has become more acute, as a military reserve call ups and an expanding
police role strain agency resources across the country A. Tangel, W. (2004) . Reducing crime has
always been very hard for police to tackle, it s very hard to measure the performance of law
enforcement agencies. Throughout the next three decades, traditional measures of police agency
performance became entrenched within the policing profession with little debate and little fanfare
R. Maguire, E. (2010). However, again there are numbers of solutions for these issues. One good,
useful solution would to be get more money for the law enforcement that would be embarkation.

On Monday, November 28th, many people in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee were
forced to evacuate, as a horrible wildfire exploded. The wildfires have been caused due to the
terrible drought in the Southeastern United States due to the lack of rain. This lack of rain has
been very tragic for our ecosystem, because it has caused these fires. In the Southeast, it has been
the driest conditions in the past decade, and the ground has been so hard. These fires are
spreading very rapidly and it affects our society in a terrible way. Although firefighters are making
progress, the fires keep spreading due to the low humidity and winds. They release carbon dioxide
into the air and destroy homes and habitats. To begin with, at least 14,000 people have evacuated
this area due to the wildfires spreading so rapidly. Most of East Tennessee has been in exceptional

When describing an intellectual, the term Brainiac may be used. What is little known about this
term is its true origins. Brainiac was the super intelligent villain and enemy of Superman in the
Action Comics series. Brainiac was first introduced in 1938, and the term was first recorded in
print outside of the comics in 1982. Another more obvious example of DC Comics influence on
colloquial phrases is the term Kryptonite. As many know, kryptonite is a glowing green mineral
from the planet of Krypton, and is the weakness of Superman. People may use the term when
talking about someone s weakness. Kryptonite is somewhat like the modern day Achilles heel.
Apart from influencing common terminology, technological advancements have influenced tools
used by the superheroes in DC Comics. Wonder Woman was created by psychologist and advocate
for women s potentials, William Moulton Marston. One of Wonder Woman s well known tools is
her Lasso of Truth, which compels anyone who is caught in it to tell the truth. As a psychologist,
Marston studied the relation between emotions and blood pressure. His studies led to the creation
of the Systolic Blood Pressure test, which was used as a component in the modern day

Comparing The Novel Out, Out And Disabled
Compare the ways in which the writers create sympathy in Out, Out and Disabled
In the poems, Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen both create sympathy for the characters through
different ways. In Disabled , Owen paints a vivid, moving picture of a soldier who has been
injured in World War One and lost his legs and an arm. Wilfred Owen himself took part in the
war, consequently witnessing first hand many young men whose lives were similarly destroyed.
In the poem, Out, Out , Robert Frost shows the fragility of life in two ways. Firstly alluding to
Shakespeare s metaphor in Macbeth s soliloquy Out, out, brief candle , which informs the reader
that life is very short and fragile. Moreover, Frost looks at the themes of sudden death and child
labour to help to make this a very sad and shocking poem. The poem reflects the tragedy of the
accidental death of a child doing a man s job. Frost s description of setting, imagery, and tone create
a moving poem with a horrifying ending that leaves the reader feeling despaired at the bleakness of
the situation and quite shocked.
Even in the structure of the poem, Wilfred Owen shows us a compassionate portrait of loss by
switching between and comparing the soldier s experiences before and after war time, and the
related memories and emotions, for instance:
And girls glanced lovelier as the air grew dim
In old times, before he threw away his knees .
This example shows the constant comparison and reminder of the soldier s loss

Physics of Bicycles Essay
Physics plays a vital role in all that we do, whether we are aware of it or not. The sport of bicycling
is no exception to the physical laws of Mother Nature.
Friction is a resistive force that always acts in a direction that is opposite to the motion of a body.
Frictional forces are dependent on two components; the coefficient of friction and the normal force.
Friction = (Вµ)(n)
There are two different types of frictional coefficients, static and kinetic. The coefficient of static
friction is the frictional force that must be overcome before any motion commences. It is caused by
the minuscule contact points between our tires and the riding surface (There is frictional losses
present in every mechanical connection on the bike ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The difference between tires might be hard to distinguish but the variation between terrains is pretty
easy to differentiate. Riding on the sidewalk is noticeably easier than riding among boulders! This
is due to the greater amount of friction between the ground and the tires.
The wind plays a big part in the forces affecting a bicycle and its rider. The air flow over a rider and
their bicycle is far from smooth. Wind resistance, sometimes called drag, is caused by the
atmospheric flow around the rider, wheels, and frame and can produce a relatively large frictional
force especially at higher speeds.
At higher speeds this resistive force can be approximated by:
R=1/2DПЃAv2
Where ПЃ is the density of air, A is the cross sectional area of the rider bike, v is the velocity, and
D is
the drag coefficient. There are basically only two ways to reduce drag. The first method is to
reduce the overall cross sectional area. The can be accomplished by using a bicycle that is
specifically designed to put the rider into a more aerodynamical position, as seen in figure 2.
Reduction of the drag coefficient is also an important factor in decreasing the resistance. By
wearing tighter fitting clothes and using bikes that are streamlined we are able to reduce the drag
coefficient significantly.
The study of improved aerodynamics is imperative to any competitive road or track cyclist.
Reduction of

Abiotic Factors Of Tropical Rainforest
Mahayla Griggs
Abiotic Factors
Tropical Rainforest make up a total of 6% of all of earth s land surface. Not surprisingly though, it
produces 40% of all of earth s oxygen. There are 4 levels to the tropical rainforest; emergent, upper
canopy, understory, and forest floor. The rainforestreceived it s name because of it s self watering
system. Plants release water into the atmosphere through transpiration. This moisture usually has no
place to go which creates a thick cloud cover over the rainforest causing the humid, hot,
atmosphere. In the the rainforests are large rivers that branch off into smaller rivers that help to
provide water for the entire forest.
Location/ Landscape
Rainforest are located around the equator. Known for their hot humid climates rainforest easily
thrive around the equator without issues.
Ecosystem Services
Tropical rainforest have many ecosystem services that they provide for the earth daily. Because of
the large amounts of plants, tropical rainforest are capable of helping to clean the air of pollutants.
Plants take in the bad air and produce air that is not filled with harmful pollutants. Tropical
rainforests also increase rainfall. The H2O that is released into the air has to go somewhere
eventually. It can not just stay in the cloud that surrounds the forest forever. So, it comes back
down as precipitation. The tropical rainforest allows humans to benefit financially. Humans are

Character Analysis of Elisa Allen in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck
The Chrysanthemums, written by John Steinbeck, captures one day in the life of a woman who
yearns for a more fulfilling life. Elisa is first portrayed as a woman whose tasks are exceeded by
her abilities. As the day continues, a stranger briefly enters her life and, through manipulative
words, fills her heart with hopes of change and excitement. We learn that these newly found hopes
are crushed when Elisa eventually realizes that she has been used. A stranger manages to break

Apart from her gardening attire, Elisa s tendency to complete such a large amount of manual labor
also blocks her femininity from our eyes. On top of all of that manual labor, Elisa also manages to
keep her home spotless: It was a hard swept looking little house with hard polished windows, and
a clean mud mat on the front steps. It is obvious to us that Elisa has energy to burn. She seems to
love work, the more work the better. In one instance, as Elisa was tending to her Chrysanthemums,
Henry says, I wish you d work out in the orchard and raise some apples that big to which Elisa
enthusiastically responds, Maybe I could do it, too.
We do not actually know the real Elisa until we reach the end of the story. In reality, we initially
see her through her husband s eyes, since it seems that he does not know the real Elisa either.
Poor Henry probably thinks that he makes his wife happy and that she has all that she needs in
life. If Henry were only to pay closer attention to his wife s words, he might become aware of her
true feelings. We may notice, as we read her story, that when Elisa speaks to Henry, she excessively
repeats one word, good. She is not as expressive towards Henry as she is towards the stranger. It
seems as though she is faking enthusiasm when she uses this word, good for you...it will be good,
tonight, a good dinner. Another

Negligence is a central topic in the vast area of Law Tort. It is largely due to Negligence being by
far most practiced by Tort lawyers with huge number of litigations each year. As per Sir Percy

Negligence is the breach of a legal duty to take care which results in damage, undesired by the
Defendant to the Claimant.
In other words, it is a failure to exercise that degree of care, when law requires for the purpose of
protection of individuals, their properties and their financial interests. A duty of care is a legal
obligation to safeguard individuals who can be considered your neighbours from harm: (in your

Transhumanism In The Film Her, By Spike Jonze
While watching the film Her directed by Spike Jonze a common theme that is viewed within this
film is, transhumanism. Transhumanism is the theory that the human race can evidently evolve
beyond its current physical and mental limitations, This can be easily achieved by the
advancements of technology. This is seen when the viewers looked at the relationship between the
protagonist, Theodore Towbly, and his operating system. Transhumanism is also seen when the
director, Spike Jonze, uses simulacra to identify the characters within the film. It is also seen when
the protagonist can not distinguish between the real and simulation.

This is seen when humankind has evolved so much that the main character s job is to write
personal letters for other people. Which is very ironic because then this makes these letters
impersonal because the senders are not actually writing these letters themselves but the receiver is
unaware of this. It s also, ironic because the protagonist has a horrible love life, but is writing love
letters for others. Theodores job creates who he is as an individual. He even becomes successful
when Samantha helps him publish a book composed of these letters which he wrote for others.
Another way of using simulacra to express transhumanism is the development of Samantha s
character. After all, the viewer knows she is only an operating system but the ironic part is in which
theodore sees Samantha as a real human being. This is shown when Theodore questions whether
Samantha is faking it during their virtual sexual encounters. Even though Samantha s character is
not real she represent an extremely realistic human companion because she feels emotions, such a
jealousy. Jealousy is seen when Theodore goes and has lunch with Catherine to sign the divorce
paper. Samantha is also receptive to emotions. However, when Theodore asks if she is faking it
theoretically she is faking it because she is not a real human but Theodore believes she is real
because of the world he lives in with all the technological advancements. One thing that the viewer
may see is that Samantha s character does not fully represent simulacra because eventually her a

Theme Of Respect In The Maze Runner
Knowledge will give you power, but character respect Bruce Lee. In James Dashner s The Maze
Runner, respect is an underlying theme that is constant throughout the novel. Respect is not
something that is gained it is always earned, it takes something meaningful to earn it. Respect is
not given idly by any person and is shown in the novel. Respect and trust usually go hand in hand
and are good things to have in a community. One of the things that can earn respect is friendshipand
loyalty, if they become good friends and are loyal to each other respect will come easily. Although
respect does not necessarily result in friendship. Another thing that earns respect is the value of
knowledge and experience. If one runs into another who does the same thing as them, but better,
instantly they gain a form of respect in either form of admiration or jealousy. Lastly respect can be
earned through actions of cleverness and intelligence as people who see people do clever or smart
things usually gain some admiration and respect. In the novel, The Maze Runner, respect is
represented throughout the novel through a variety of forms such as, friendship, experience and
actions. To start, respect and trust can be earned through a good friendship and/or a strong loyalty.
When someone is loyal to another, they instantly acknowledge it due to its positive effect. Being

What Are The Most Popular Sea Myths
In the movie series Pirates of the Caribbean , which took place in the Golden Age of Piracy,
many sea myths are told to cause fear and enjoyment. Three of the most popular myths included
in the movie were Calypso, Davy Jones, and the Flying Dutchman. Calypso was depicted in
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl as a black woman with a strong Jamaican accent, but
according to the Greek myth, from which it originated, she is a pale skinned woman with golden
blonde hair. The movie also shared that Calypso had part in ferrying souls to the afterlife, which
is erroneous. According to Greek mythology, it was the god Charon who shipped souls to the
afterlife. Another popular sea myth was the story of Davy Jones. Davy Jones was a ghost of

How Did Chaucer Influence His Age
There is an age called the age of Chaucer. At that time, there was a social and intellectual
movement, and then there was the terrible epidemic called the Black Death which brought poverty,
unrest and revolt among the peasants, and the growing spirit of inquiry, which would cause people
to be critical of the ways of the church. In those era, there was a very famous poet. His name is
Geoffrey Chaucer with his masterpiece entitled The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer was a great writer
in a well developed period and had close connections with the rulers of his era, so it was not
surprising that the age was given the same name as his name. Based on that, in this essay will
discuss about his life, his work, until his death.

Southwark. They agreed to hold their wandering contest, and Harry Bailly, the innkeeper, acted
as the host of the contest. Most of the pilgrims were introduced with a short sketch called
General Prologue. In total there are 24 stories interspersed with short scenes containing the
conversation, and usually between the host and the pilgrim. Chaucer did not complete this story
fully, because only 24 pilgrims told of his wandering. The 24 stories are The Knight s Tale, The

The Smooth Er s Membrane
The smooth ER does not have any ribosomes on it s membrane. It s functions can vary depending
on the differences of the cell it is located in. The smooth ER makes lipids, breaks down
carbohydrates, and detoxifies substances that may be harmful to the cell.
The rough ER appears rough on a microscope because it s surface is covered with small ribosomes.
The ribosomes synthesize proteins, and the membrane keeps those proteins separate from the rest
of the cell. In addition to making and storing proteins, it also creates it s own proteins and
phospholipids to put in it s membrane. Portions of the rough ER s membrane are closed to form
sealed sacs called transport vesicles. These vesicles carry the proteins to the Golgi apparatus.

How Did Saddam Hussein Impact The Environment
Donor Letter Our organization Nature Iraq does really important work to support the
Mesopotamian Marshlands. Our work has changed the environment for the better. For thousands
of years, the marshlands influence the culture by us using what we had around us in our
environment like reeds to build most of our belongings. Some examples of this are our houses,
little rafts, etc. One other way we have been influenced by the environment is that we had
learned to catch our own fresh fish and sell them for money. Since in the Marshlands we don t
have roads we learned to build boats and rafts and we use those as types of transportation and for
collecting reeds and food. The Marshlands has provided with a source of power and fresh water....

Saddam Hussein had a major impact on the homes in the Marshlands. What Saddam Hussein did
to impact the environment so much, is that he just had to use !!TANKS!! to destroy and set
homes on fire. He drained all of their rivers and lakes by building canals into the desert and the
Persian Gulf which dragged away all wildlife and the water in the Marshlands. Saddam Hussein
was so vicious that once he was about to end this brutal attack he didn t even let the plants die by
wilting, he just had to burn the plants down to a crisp. Which changed the culture by making
people leave. The Iraq people had to leave because their homes were destroyed and their source
of transportation and food source was gone. After the brutal attack by Saddam Hussein, the
Marshlands was nothing but a pile of dust. The Iraq people had seemed to lose all hope. Most of
the Iraq people either died or got seriously injured and had to leave after the attack. Saddam

Women During the Gold Rush Essay example
Women During the Gold Rush The Gold Rush was one of the most influential times in
California History. During the four years from 1848 1852, 400,000 new people flooded into the
state. People from many countries and social classes moved to California, and many of them
settled in San Francisco. All this diversity in one place created a very interesting dynamic.
California during the Gold Rush, was a place of colliding ideals. The 49ers came from a very
structured kind of life to a place where one was free to make up her own rules. Freedom was in
the very air Californians breathed, for the country offered a unique and seductive drought of liberty.

Letters, journals, and reminiscences written by adventurers during the Gold Rush vividly illustrate
the internal struggle which people experienced. This is especially true of the writing by women of
the time. It is a long held myth that the gold rush was almost completely male. Yet, most trail
diaries mention the presence of women.4 Still, they were quite a minority. The 1860 census reveals
that in San Francisco that year, men outnumbered women three to two. Lopsided though this ratio
may be, there were enough women in California to have quite an influence, and perhaps they
struggled even more with their new freedom than the men. More restraint was expected from
women, and it was their duty to keep their husbands and children proper. How they chose to deal
with their new surroundings would have greatly impacted their families. Women offer an
interesting perspective, as women were traditionally the epitomes of Victorian morality. Historian
Lillian Schlissel writes that unlike the men, ...women did not always see the venture in the clear
light of the expectation of success. There were often shadows in their minds, dark areas of
reservation. 5 Women usually had little say in the matter of going West; therefore, it is logical that
they would see things in a different light than their adventure seeking husbands. Still, many women
were able to see the positive aspects of California, if not

The Importance Of Owning Property With Great Historic And...
Many questions arise regarding the decision of owning property with great historic and economic
value. In the artistic world of museums, there has always been a craving to own the most valuable
antiquities created by human kind. The biggest battle of antiquities relies on the Elgin Marbles,
which were once part of the Parthenon, a magnificent creation of Athenians to worship Athena The
Goddess of War (British Museumweb npg). This temple stands atop the Acropolis, on the site of
another lost temple to Athens patron goddess. Little is known about this first structure except that
it was still under construction in 480 B.C. when Persian forces sacked the city and demolished the
Acropolis. The Parthenon is very famous, and tourists from all over the world visit this temple to
contemplate the talent of past generations. In present times, we have Greece, which claims that the
Elgin Marblesshould be repatriated; on the other hand we have Britain, which currently possesses
the Elgin Marbles displayed in the British Museum. The British Museum acquired these sculptures
thanks to Lord Elgin, a British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Lord Elgin was passionate
about the ancient Greek art. Between 1801 1805 he removed about half of the remaining sculptures
back to Britain (BM web npg). This big dispute has garnered extensive media attention. Not all of
the sculptures from the Parthenon are in the British Museum, even though a big portion of them
are. You can also find

Bartleby Totalitarianism
The Narrator in Bartleby the Scrivener makes a point to describe the setting and its interactions
with the characters to Elucidate not only the question of Free Will but to create Melville s
indictment of labor within the structure of Capitalism. The Concept of Free Will and necessity play
an important role in constructing the universe and laws therein. They not only aid in structuring the
plot and how a thing occurs in a fictional universe. They give insight to the author s view of the
world and are recurring themes in Herman Melvilles work. The concept of Free Willand necessity
allow for an immediate change in the moral paradigm and give Melville a platform and structure
with which to create his indictment of labor and Capitalism. In Bartlebythe Schrivener, he mentions
two Necessitarian philosophers from a Christian background. The two works by these philosophers
and Necessitarianism in general give a unique perspective as to what Melville is trying to convey
in this story. They construct a world not of possibilities, but of rigidity and lacking in the traditional
conception of freedom.

North Korea s Nuclear Weapons
Issue for Decision
Dating back to the Korean War, North Korea has insisted its demand for nuclear weapons. North
Korean leaders and officials claim this right on the basis to safeguard North Korea s dignity,
sovereignty and ensure peace in its nation. Since its withdrawal from the Nuclear Non Proliferation
Treaty (NPT) in January 2003, North Korea has demonstrated unacceptable behavior violating its
obligations, in order to progress its nuclear weapon program.
The United States views North Korea s nuclear expansion behavior as intolerable. Current U.S.
policy aims to weaken North Korea s nuclear capabilities primarily through isolation, and ultimately
to never accept it as a nuclear state. We presently continue to tighten sanctions, condemn the DPRK
s behavior and use traditional deterrence measures in order to denuclearize the state.
I am confident that with tactful revisions in our current policy, we can more rapidly denuclearize
and freeze all nuclear missile activity in North Korea. These revisions include targeting financial
and regulatory sanctions against any government, financial or business entity serving North Korea s
nuclear program, countering North Korea s developing missile capabilities by securing the U.S.
and South Korea with appropriate defense mechanisms and encouraging Russia and China to
withdraw political support and increase pressure on the DPRK. Ensuring the denuclearization of
North Korea is essential to ensure U.S. national security and promote

A Dishonest Appeal
A dishonest appeal to emotion is when an author s verbiage triggers and engages the reader s
emotions. These emotions can be good or bad, happy or sad, and everything in between. This
leads the reader astray into believing wrongly or more strongly. An example of this is when an
author uses the word rights as opposed to privileges. Writing with an appeal to emotion is not
inherently immoral. It is often used as a mechanism to aid the reader s imagination in transforming
words into a vivid thought. It becomes dishonest when the author distorts the facts and truth to try
to persuade the reader. The change in words may seem trivial but it is purposeful. This is often
seen in the beginning of a court case when the judge is about to decide

Recruiting Violations in College Sports Essay
Sports are extremely popular around the world and only get more popular as time goes on.
Sports is on television (TV), in the news, in the newspaper, and online. It only makes sense that
this is the case. A sporting event is the ultimate drama. The variability of a game is what gets
people so into it. Sports can tell a story, and teach great life lessons as well as inspire people. If
sports are that important to the people around the world who watch it, just think about how
important sports are to the ones who actually play it and coachit. It is their passion, their persona,

In their effort to compete with other programs, coaches push the boundaries of recruiting. This is a
huge problem in college sports that desperately needs fixing. For this problem, the National
Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) has set strictly enforced rules for behavior like this. It is
a very complex, broad set of rules. The purpose of these rules is simple. These rules are meant to
encourage fair recruiting and too discourage offering incentives to collegiate athletes. Recruiting
laws in the NCAA are very particular. Every program follows the same set of rules, however the
rules vary slightly from sport to sport. First of all, besides monitoring what the coach offers an
athlete, the NCAA monitors the amount/content of contact with athletes. Contacts with athletes
are monitored by the NCAA heavily. A contact by definition is when a coach has any face to
face contact with an athlete or an athlete s parents on or off a college s campus and says more
than hello. A contact also occurs if a coach has any contact with an athlete or an athlete s parents
at that athlete s high school or anywhere the athlete is practicing or competing. To give the athlete
some space and to organize all contact, the NCAA has a contact period. A contact period is a time
period where a college coach may have in person contact with an athlete and their parents on or off
the college s campus. The coach may also watch the athlete play or visit the

During this process, a common conceptual framework was initially developed by a joint IASB FASB Project, which was used as a basis for accounting standards. In 2012, this project was suspended and replaced by an IASB only comprehensive project (reference). • 7. Ariel Castro s Psychodynamic Perspective Brief Summary Between the years of 2003 and 2013, Ariel Castro held three young women, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina Dejesus, captive. Over the course of the ten years, they were beaten, raped, and dehumanized in horrifying ways. The young women kept diaries that spoke of the violence that went on inside of Mr. Castro s house. For example, the women wrote about how he forced them to be sexually active with him, locked in dark rooms for long periods of time with the anticipation of abuse awaiting them, being treated like animals, etc. Ariel Castro was a very sick man as he gained pleasure from watching his victims suffer. He felt the need to satisfy his desire by capturing those three women and holding them captive for a decade. Castro s ego dealt with the reality of trying to meet his desires. • 8. Lanchester System Case Study In this paper, an interactive tool using the shiny package in R code was developed to better understand the interactions between X and Y forces along with their appropriate kill rates. The Lanchester system was developed by F.W. Lanchester and consists of differential equations where surviving combat units are defined by variables. This papers will focus on the Square Law and a series of questions will be answered throughout. The interactive tool created can be seen in Appendix B of this report as well as the code which is still under development. As you will note while using the tool, for some cases a forcewill go negative, but that is not correct when in fact the variable should be at zero. This issue can be worked around and will be something that is corrected in the near future.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the Y forces send at least 60 more personnel on the 20th unit of time then the battle will only go for another 26 units and the Y force will cause X to retreat due to lack of force and rate. On the other hand, if the X force sent another 10 soldiers then this battle would be over and the X force would have won at 20 units of time. See Appendix A for graphs of X forces winning at 20 units and Y force winning at 46 units with an additional 60 soldiers in Figures 9 and 10. In summary, the Lanchester square law model is a simple but very informative model. It gives the combat analyst a better understanding of forces against rates over time. I found it very effective making a simple interactive tool to better understand how different rates and forces vary outcomes over a specific amount of time. It was very impressive to see that the approximate and exact values having such a low percent error as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner As I Lay Dying William Faulkner Entry 1 Beginning As I Lay Dying, I am already struggling with the dialect of the novel. This confusion is deepened because I had no prior knowledge of the characters and plot. There are many characters that Faulkner mentions in the first twenty five pages of the novels and so I was trying to connect the characters and find out who was who. Faulkner also constantly refers to Addie as she . This confused me at first because I didn t know who Faulkner was referring to and how Addie was related to all of the other characters. I found that as long as I read very slowly and pay attention to detail, I can understand the language of the story better than I expected. I was able to connect all the characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is making the characters unrelatable so I hope that I improve on understanding the dialect of the novel. Entry 3 I find that I am having trouble reading some characters narrations more than others. Cash s narrations are the simplest to read as his thoughts are fairly straightforward to follow and his narration doesn t move from one idea to another. Vardaman, Dewey Dell and Darl all have narrations that are difficult to follow because their thoughts move rapidly from one idea to another. Vardaman is a child and his narration is the most difficult to understand because of the childish manner it is written in. Dewey Dell also expresses very complicated thoughts. Dewey Dell begins her narration using only he to identify who she is thinking about. She also continually refers to herself and him as a tub of guts. Darl is very thoughtful and his thoughts move from one topic to something completely different and so I find his narration very difficult to follow. Entry 4 There have been many examples of animal symbolism in As I Lay Dying. I didn t understand what Vardaman meant when he first says my mother is a fish (76) and later when Darl says Jewel s mother is a horse (86). I went back in the novel and read about that the fish Vardaman caught was chopped to pieces and no longer recognizable. When Vardaman says his mother is a fish, Vardaman is saying that his mother is no longer recognizable to him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When this situations occurs a company needs to investigate in anyway legal way it can in order to protect its propriety. However, if a company is to investigate there are several thing/questions they need to be aware of, such as what places can the company search and what items they can confiscate. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several items that a checkpoint can confiscate, as long as the items are negatively affecting the workplace or pose a risk to other employees, such as guns or adult entertainment. What gets a bit trickier is when they can take electronic devices at checkpoints, such as cell phones and hard drives. For a checkpoint to take these items they has to be a policy in place that forbids these types of devices onsite, the same way cellphones are not allowed in classified meetings. Additional, this is the only time the company can search an employee s body, consisting of a pat down to ensure there are no weapons on the subject. However, if the security staff takes any items from MR. Yourporp, they cannot begin searchingthought the information contained on his electronic devices and they must be held in a designated location for confiscated items. Not following these procedures could lead to jail time as was the case with an incident at the O Hare Airport (Hilkevitch, 2001). One exception depends on if the devices are company owned or not, if the device is company owned then they have every right to collect their devices in order to search the device during a security check. Searching the device at this time would be unwise, so many companies would have the item taken to their forensic team to search the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. King Henry Iv Part 1 Analysis In the creation of a text the composer s choices relating to the ways in which they construct the text are used to position the responder towards a desired interpretation. This is particularly evident in texts concerning people and politics as the composers shaping of the text manipulates the responder to favour a particular political view or person s perspective. In the play King Henry IV Part One (c.1597) writerWilliam Shakespeare constructs the text so that the audience conforms to his idea of the rightful ruler as influenced by his personal and historical context. The answer is social structure affected them. Social structure is the relationship between different entities or groups or as enduring and relatively stable patterns of relationship and emphasizes the idea that society is grouped into structurally related groups or sets of roles, with different functions, meanings or purposes. (Merton) In Ennis and Jacks society, they both played a role of straight men that work for the American dream. Their secret relationship would not be accepted in society, which is why they decided to say goodbye instead of continuing their love for each other. As time went on, they both settled down and got married. Ennis married a woman named Alma and had two daughters while Jack found a female rodeo rider. Years passed by and everything seemed to be working out until one day Jack visited Ennis after about twenty years from when they were together last. OVERVIEW: The social cognitive theory in essence is the theory that proposes behavior is a result of personal, behavioral, and environmental factors that influence each other in a dynamic and reciprocal fashion. Environments shape behaviors, but individuals have the power to influence the environment as well as their own behaviors through self reflection and self regulatory process. Personal factors involve people s thoughts and beliefs about the desired outcomes, their ability to perform the behavior or self efficacy and ability to take charge. They may also have personal barriers in the way. In order to overcome these personal factors they will need goal setting, relapse prevention and reinforcement of positive outcomes. Behavioral ... INTERVENTIONS: Challenge! is an example of an effective program that utilized social cognitive theory. Its goal was to promote health and prevent obesity in African American youths, between the ages of 11 16. The program recruited adolescents from low income, urban areas and implemented both home and community based interventions for a total of twelve sessions (Black et al., 2010). How The Pig Farming Industry Affects Our Environment The hog farming industry has always been one of controversy when it comes to its effects on the environment, and with the green house gas emissions a pig farm produces and the spread of disease through swine this is with good reason. Although the truth is that the industry has come a very long way in the past 50 years in regards to its sustainability. The pigfarming industry as a whole has been able to reduce its overall environmental impact and natural resources use by 50% in the past 50 years according to a study done by Garth Boyd a well known researcher on environmental footprints (Boyd). Even with the improvements made by the pig farming industry there is still a need for change and major improvement in sustainable practices. First I will discuss how the pig farming industry effects our environment. Although it is true a pig farmneeds water and land to operate, the use of those natural resources is not the major problem with pig farms. It is what goes in the air that is of concern. The pig manure and the decomposition of the manure over time release three major gases of concern, methane, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide. There are other gaseous compounds that may be emitted from decomposing manure but these three are the principal gases in emissions. The level of emissions released by a farm will vary based on the amount of manure being managed as well as the type of manure management system the farm has in place. One such imbalance is the effect of increasing altitudeon the body s ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular respiration. One, the esophagus, leads to the digestive system while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis covers the glottis when swallowing so that food does not enter the lungs. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli. In my short essay, I will go over the commitments and traits of a leader, challenges of being a young leader, and why do I consider myself to be a leader. Being a leader is something that everyone puts their own spin on . Everyone has a different approach to being a leader (some more effective than others). But all leaders have the same traits, whether you see them or not. One of the traits that a leader can possess is the ability to communicate with others. This is a key trait, because how will a leader plan or teach something to others if you can t communicate with another. But a leader must consult with others before making a decision and a leader must be some what persuasive. Another trait that a leader must possess, is the ability to put personal problems aside. By doing this, a leader can make a better choice and be a role model to others. A leader must also have commitment. No leader should ever leave his/her followers if something goes wrong. Comparing The Novel Out, Out And Disabled Compare the ways in which the writers create sympathy in Out, Out and Disabled In the poems, Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen both create sympathy for the characters through different ways. In Disabled , Owen paints a vivid, moving picture of a soldier who has been injured in World War One and lost his legs and an arm. Wilfred Owen himself took part in the war, consequently witnessing first hand many young men whose lives were similarly destroyed. In the poem, Out, Out , Robert Frost shows the fragility of life in two ways. Firstly alluding to Shakespeare s metaphor in Macbeth s soliloquy Out, out, brief candle , which informs the reader that life is very short and fragile. Moreover, Frost looks at the themes of sudden death and child labour to help to make this a very sad and shocking poem. The poem reflects the tragedy of the accidental death of a child doing a man s job. Frost s description of setting, imagery, and tone create a moving poem with a horrifying ending that leaves the reader feeling despaired at the bleakness of the situation and quite shocked. Even in the structure of the poem, Wilfred Owen shows us a compassionate portrait of loss by switching between and comparing the soldier s experiences before and after war time, and the related memories and emotions, for instance: And girls glanced lovelier as the air grew dim In old times, before he threw away his knees . Frictional forces are dependent on two components; the coefficient of friction and the normal force. Friction = (Вµ)(n) There are two different types of frictional coefficients, static and kinetic. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference between tires might be hard to distinguish but the variation between terrains is pretty easy to differentiate. Riding on the sidewalk is noticeably easier than riding among boulders! This is due to the greater amount of friction between the ground and the tires. The wind plays a big part in the forces affecting a bicycle and its rider. The air flow over a rider and their bicycle is far from smooth. Wind resistance, sometimes called drag, is caused by the atmospheric flow around the rider, wheels, and frame and can produce a relatively large frictional force especially at higher speeds. At higher speeds this resistive force can be approximated by: R=1/2DПЃAv2 Where ПЃ is the density of air, A is the cross sectional area of the rider bike, v is the velocity, and D is the drag coefficient. There are basically only two ways to reduce drag. The first method is to reduce the overall cross sectional area. The can be accomplished by using a bicycle that is specifically designed to put the rider into a more aerodynamical position, as seen in figure 2. Reduction of the drag coefficient is also an important factor in decreasing the resistance. Character Analysis of Elisa Allen in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck The Chrysanthemums, written by John Steinbeck, captures one day in the life of a woman who yearns for a more fulfilling life. Elisa is first portrayed as a woman whose tasks are exceeded by her abilities. As the day continues, a stranger briefly enters her life and, through manipulative words, fills her heart with hopes of change and excitement. We learn that these newly found hopes are crushed when Elisa eventually realizes that she has been used. It is obvious to us that Elisa has energy to burn. She seems to love work, the more work the better. In one instance, as Elisa was tending to her Chrysanthemums, Henry says, I wish you d work out in the orchard and raise some apples that big to which Elisa enthusiastically responds, Maybe I could do it, too. Poor Henry probably thinks that he makes his wife happy and that she has all that she needs in life. If Henry were only to pay closer attention to his wife s words, he might become aware of her true feelings. We may notice, as we read her story, that when Elisa speaks to Henry, she excessively repeats one word, good. She is not as expressive towards Henry as she is towards the stranger. It seems as though she is faking enthusiasm when she uses this word, good for you...it will be good, tonight, a good dinner. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
