A few tips & tricks to help make Microsoft Outlook more efficient and easier to use. Presented to staff of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey on Thursday, April 17, 2014.
Use outlook 2010 / 2013 best practices to achieve your personal goalsBjørn Hopland
One of the challenges today is that you have to both have a good overview of everything within your field of work, as well follow up on all details. The risk is that when you try to get a good perspective of the strategic aspect of your work, it’s easy to forget the details. Also, there will always be much more work to do than is possible, and you are the only one that knows your work load. So you have to decide on your priorities.
Using Outlook to manage the details, and support you in prioritizing, will free up your brain so you can keep a good overview, work more on a strategic level, and get all your work done with less stress.
The outcome of this training will enable you to achieve or exceed your goals. You will also have full control at any time, with no hidden “iceberg” under the water. The time and capacity you free up by what you will learn, you can spend as you like. For more time off, to work on a project, or on long term development activities.

INTRODUCTION Electronic mail, commonly called email or e-mail, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the internet or other computer networks. Some early email systems required that the author and the recipient both be online at the same time, in common with instant messaging. Today's email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email servers accept, forward, deliver and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need connect only briefly, typically to an email server, for as long as it takes to send or receive messages.

IT cannot afford to live in the past. Successful businesses of today (and tomorrow) realize the power of mobility to support employee productivity and collaboration. You need to prepare to mitigate the risks of providing freedom and space to your employees. You need to meet compliance and regulatory standards, maintain company security policies and requirements, and detect threats — all the while giving workers a better and more productive experience, so that they’re motivated to follow protocol. You need an enterprise mobility partner that can help you achieve all of this, so that everyone is a winner, and your business stays out of the headlines.
Microsoft’s vision includes management and protection across four key layers: users, device, app, and data – for both your employees, business partners, and customers.
Our strategy is to ensure management across these layers while ensuring your employees, business partners, and customers by providing access to everything they need from everything; protecting corporate data across email and collaboration apps all while integrating these new capabilities with what customers already have like Active Directory and System Center.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

3. Email Management
Did you know that thinking about the way you handle email can save you an amazing amount
of time?
Well it can!
It’s easier then you think.
4. Email Management
Do you ever feel like this when opening your inbox?
It doesn’t have to be that way.
5.
6. Email Management
First Rule –You do not have to read and respond to most email messages as soon as they arrive.
I know this can be a difficult habit to change – but believe me, if you can –
you will save an amazing amount of time and become more productive.
7. Email Management
Here is what happens if you try to answer every email as it arrives.
1. You are minding your own business and working at your desk.
2. “Ta-da” a message arrives in your inbox.
3. You stop working on your original task and open the email.
4. You read it.
5. You consider what action to take. Does it need a response? What is the
sender asking for? Do you respond now? Do you take the time to find
the information the sender wants. Do you take the time to write a
response.
6. Once you are done responding you have to stop and think, “what was a
doing before that email?”
7. Then you have to start the original task all over again.
Each and every time you go through this process you are losing time!
8. Email Management
ControllingYour Email and Becoming a More Productive – Happier Person.
Pick 4 times a day that you read and respond to email.
For me I try to stick to (1) first thing in the morning, (2) mid morning,

Try this!
