The document discusses implementing team standards in meetings to improve leadership development. It recommends including a "Team Standards" block in weekly meeting agendas to discuss purpose and values, create and track plans, provide training, and reflect on feedback and evaluation. This ensures teams focus on goal setting, effective work processes, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement through regular check-ins and accountability.

We often picture “leaders” as people who stand at the front of a room, wielding their authority to tell people what to do. But "facilitative leadership" looks quite different. Facilitative leaders are usually found standing in front of a whiteboard, inviting teams to help them figure out what to do. This results in better solutions, stronger team performance, and a healthier culture of collaboration. In this talk, you’ll learn powerful facilitation techniques that will help you to become a facilitative leader and guide your teams to success.
30 Rules to Follow for an Effective Team MeetingWeekdone.com
Â
Most professionals waste almost 3.8 hours a week on unproductive, poorly prepared meetings. We need a solution.
Weekdone (https://weekdone.com) built a fun free interactive meeting assistant Team Meeting Checklist (http://teammeetingchecklist.com) that helps save time and increase focus on these time consuming meetings.
Taking together different researches we came up with a list of guidelines that offer a pretty clear glimpse to how an effective team meeting should look like. Going through the list one by one might be time-consuming, which is why we built the interactive version of the list called Team Meeting Checklist.
Quoting ArcticStartup: "Real secret ingredient of the meeting manager lies in the checklist, or the list of 25 criteria, which, according to Weekdone, takes no more than 5 minutes to go through (while potentially saving several working hours that would've otherwise been lost due to crappy meeting orchestration)".
The idea behind Team Meeting Checklist is simple: before each gathering, the team leader takes 5 minutes to go through the checklist and create a meeting invite including the most crucial details. The system will send an automatically compiled email to all participants, summarizing details and ground rules for the upcoming meeting. This simple solution acts as a meeting reminder for the participants and social pressure tool to honor the effective meeting criteria for the leader. Furthermore, it provides a fantastic base for giving feedback and reflecting on the progress.

We all dream of working in organizations where design is respected, valued and impactful. What if we could actually make that dream a reality?
Two years ago, the design team at PlanGrid was understaffed and hamstrung. Today, the team has tripled in size and is treated as a strategic partner and the customer-centric “conscience” of the company. This has empowered the team to create software experiences that are radically transforming people’s lives. Learn how they achieved this while navigating the chaos of a fast-paced organization.
This talk will introduce the Vision Map: a tool for transforming and empowering your design team. You’ll learn how to get alignment on your vision, assemble your team, and choose the right tactics. You’ll hear examples of how we applied this at PlanGrid, along with practical tips and real-world stories.
By the end of this session, you’ll know how to:
-Identify where your organization is at today and where it needs to go
-Assemble the right team and allies to accompany you on your journey
-Choose the right tactics to reach your vision
This talk is accompanied by worksheets and resources you can use with your team, which will also be made available online. You’ll leave with everything you need to chart your course to the design team of your dreams.

How to develop your engineering career with CATALYST approach? Magdy Aly
Â
(CATALYST) Approach consist of the following eight steps:
1. C is to have a clear smart goals for your career after knowing your personality type, your emotional intelligence level and the high level reason of why you want to be a successful professional engineer.
2. A is to get the required accreditations or professional certificates along your career.
3. T is for targeting an active mentor who can provide you with good advices related to your career.
4. A is to activate your communication skill to express yourself clearly through all communications methods with others. This includes how to write an effective CV, cover letter, Attractive LinkedIn Profile, social media presence and personal branding.
5. L is to learn leadership and the professional attitude for work inside a corporate or organizational frame work. This will include how you could professionally react to different situations and keep a clear objective of adding value.
6. Y is for youth and challenging spirit that you should always keep regardless the surrounding negative atmosphere that you can possibly find inside your organization. The only solution to keep this spirit is to be driven from your own values to exceed expectations and work on your skills to develop more value every day regardless what others are doing.
7. S is for skills (technical skills) needed for your job and your continuous benchmark and update with the recent trends in your industry.
8. T is for taking actions which is the main core of any progress. From my experience in the projects or in the coaching/mentoring cases I noticed that the main reason for any procrastination and delay is the hesitation to take action. We hesitate because we are afraid to be criticized by others and this fear make our brain tell us to delay the action to make it better or to reevaluate other option so, we are not moving from our comfort zone and the cycle repeated.

Taking flight progressive leadership development at the nbaHuman Capital Media
Â
Coming off of the highly successful launch of strategic leadership initiatives in 2015 and 2016, the National Basketball Association’s learning and development team entered 2017 flying high and anticipating that the most rigorous design work was, at least for a time, behind them. Spoiler alert: It was not. While the more tactical, day-to-day leadership development programming was not “broke,” it became clear that the new standards of practice could no longer be met by undertaking a simple refresh. In other words: If it ain’t broke, break it. By applying the lessons learned in the course of designing more advanced and targeted leadership offerings to ground-level transitional programs, they were able to accelerate the development of a new suite of progressive leadership development products that supported the development of people managers companywide and yielded tangible gains in employee engagement across a wide range of manager-specific measures by mid-2018. In this session, Mike Kennedy, the NBA’s learning and development leader, will discuss some of the team’s learnings, such as:
Culture trumps competencies: You cannot teach that which is not reinforced.
Building one transitional leadership development at a time is a fool’s errand. Commit to concurrent development, or don’t bother.
Don’t assume that senior leaders are “above” discussing leadership basics. There is a significant body of leadership content that is level-agnostic — in many cases, facilitation tactics should vary across levels, but the subject matter itself should be relevant across seniority levels.

Utilize service design methods, processes, and tools for DesignOps
Roadmapping, 2Ă—2 prioritization, and data analysis all sound too familiar for product development teams; these are the same essential skills for running a successful Design operation org, especially if we are the DesignOps team-of-one. The product management skills create stability, scalability, and maps out a process.
Care personally and challenge directly is what Kim Scott taught people managers; this is the heart of a DesignOps manager, even if we are the DesignOps team-of-one who doesn’t manage any reports. We lead the entire design team with influence, and we care for the design team with empathy.
How to choose if we had to make a hard decision between people and process? This talk tells my story of transitioning from a product-lead to a DesignOps-lead and lessons I’ve learned in my day-to-day decisions while leading and supporting my design team.

Developing a strategic plan is the first step in leading a strategic organization. The efficacy of the plan is judged not by how many goals you achieve, but in how well you utilize the plan to strategically lead your organization. This presentation looks to improve the plan-do-review process by identifying some templates for briefing and debriefing and drawing on the knowledge from the Military and Elite Sport.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Â
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Â
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The importance
• I’m sure that all of you have heard this term before. What I’m not so sure about is
the implementation of them. :)
• Team Standards are those things that make as able to ensure that all of us are
receiving the leadership development that they want to.
• They are simple things that can be implemented almost daily and show amazing
results.

Check the Feedback ppt, Inform the members about the Lead Journal
You will be able to check if any thing from the values, ambition or rules are missing and will be in the position to know what you should do or in what you should focus as a team.(f.e bonding? rules?..)
Through discussing about the LC goal and downscale it to the members you will have the chance to let them know what is going on in terms of the planning and you will be able to create the team’s plan, manage your HR and separate the responsibilities in order to get the job done more effective
The tracking and coaching of the members are two really important things. Reviewing those things in the agenda as a “reminder” or “follow-up” will be very useful as you ensure that the members will do those thing that are supposed to and that you coach your members with an effective way.
As a PM you are responsible the training of your MBs. So if you having a block regarding this in your team meeting you will have the chance to know more about what is missing from your members in terms of training or education. As a result you will manage your team more effectively and you will have a better opinion about your members knowledge and needs.
Ensure that you will have a Feedback session in the end of every meeting. This isn’t only happening for the fulfilling of the Team Standard but its value is really important for the hole team.( you should check the Feedback ppt )
