Alison Bechdel and her work. Fun Home explores the relationship between Alison and her father,
Bruce Bechdel, to shed light on ideas such as gender, coming out with your sexuality, and the complex
dynamics within their family. With further analysis we can see that these key ideas are facilitated
through discussions of death, life, and literature provoked by Alison s efforts to illustrate a truthful

each serve as evidence of Jean Jacques Rousseau s Social Contract Theory in work, each including a
type of self sacrifice for the greater good and solidification of the community.

mentions that as a community the people must commit [themselves] to being a community of faith

The setting of Alistair Macleod s short story, The Boat, complements the setting of Alden Nowlan s
poem, Warren Pryor. Each of these writing pieces contain the element of a smaller town with a tight
knit community. In the short story The Boat, our community is a Nova Scotian community whose
primary industry is fishing. This results in most of the members of the community partaking in the
fishing lifestyle. Another influential location this writing piece takes place in is inside of the house,
which was one of about fifty that marched around the horseshoe of [his] harbour, (Macleod 263). Most
of the homes in this town are situated close to the water as it is there where most of the men work as
fishermen. Inside the house was his father s room where magazines and books covered the bureau,
(Macleod 265). It was in their father s room where the children discover their love of reading and
become more dedicated to their schooling. Both the short story and the poem contain the setting of a
school, which is symbolic as it is their education that allows the characters to be free of their
obligations and the way of their town. Finally, the setting takes place on the Jenny Lynn, she was what
Nova Scotians called a Cape Island boat and was designed for the small inshore fishermen, (Macleod

If a student was a relatively good kid with no past disciplinary actions taken against him or her, they
were much more likely to have a punishment that actually taught them something, rather than creating
a sense of resentment towards the school authorities, and the system in general. Before the era of zero

I wanted to come to the temple to find out about what each thing meant in the temple. So, I decided to
talk to Gurmeet Singh the Employee of the Sikh temple dressed in all white from his shirt to his pants

A Seminar On Education And Poverty
In September of 2013, my sister passed away, leaving our family with more questions than answers
and challenges that parallel with heartbreak. As a freshman trying to find my way at the University of
Georgia, it seemed that I was going backwards compared to my peers and my grieving put more of a
strain on my will to continue my studies. Pursuing any actions for bettering myself or my counterparts
tended to feel overwhelming. Feelings of loneliness engulfed my state of mind, but what was most
unbearable was my realization that I had no idea of how I was going to overcome this. I usually have a
plan of what I would like to accomplish and who I strive to become, but at this stage of life, I felt as
lost as ever. As months passed, I had the opportunity to attend a seminar on education and poverty.
Although I was not interested in education, I attended to gain information for a class project. Through
this seminar, I found the beginning of passion that I did not know I possessed. The presenters exposed
the significant fact that students often times do not finish school due to their lacking in resources to
finish. These self and material doubts affect students at every level of education. While focusing on
my own challenges, I lost sight of the present, daunting challenges that others, whether they be my
peers or younger students, face on a daily basis. Pity for these other students had not crossed my mind,

in this boundary whose failure is considered to be of such low probability that it is considered
essentially incredible. NRC regulations require that RPV steels maintain conservative margin for
fracture toughness so that flaws do not threaten the integrity of a RPV during either normal operation
and maintenance cycles or under accident transients such as Pressurized Thermal Shock (PTS) (6).
The major technical issues regarding aging of RPV include: high fluences, for long times that may

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is the collection of physical measurements in a
geographical area. It tracks the spatial average of the sensor measurements in a region. Since it is
highly vulnerable to sensor faults and measurement noise the average operation is not robust. In this
paper the proposed computational efficient method is used to compute a weight average of sensor
measurement. It takes consideration of sensor faults and sensor noise. WSN uses random projections
of sensor to compress data and send the compressed data to the data fusion center. The computation
efficient method uses the data fusion center for direct work with the compressed data stream. The
fusion center performed decompression at the time of computed weighted average. Thus, it reduces
the computational requirements. Hence the proposed method gives better accuracy and more efficient
for the WSN.

declared bankruptcy. This event occurred during the Great Recession, a time period where economic
activities in the United States had significantly declined in the early 21st century. The Great Recession

We picked this project because we thought it would be fun and the kids would love it. The kids are
seventh and eighth graders. it will teach the seventh and eighth graders respect and sportsmanship.
This project is important to me because respect is a big part of life along with sportsmanship. If you

What is Fascism? By definition fascism is a form of government that is ruled by one person as a
dictator often times a violent and aggressive one. Fascists dictators are against democratic
governments, where the people are free and rule. Examples of a famous fascist leaders are Benito

people in line, making sure the people know who s in charge. Exhibiting the power to gain the peoples

to gain support and votes of the people is to simply tell them what they want to hear. If the country s
economy is bad at the time a fascist politician is running for power, they may say how they are going
to fix and revamp the economy, so that it never happens again. Often times they just say things for the
attention and votes, fully knowing that they are not going to put any effort into solving the problem. If

years) to prevent breast and ovarian cancers. Finally, a robust MDP (RMDP) model is presented to
study the sensitivity of MDP optimal strategies under uncertainty. In what follows, I present a
summary of findings in Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of this dissertation.
In Chapter 2, four machine learning classifiers are used to find the likelihood of having BRCA
mutation based on detailed personal and family history of cancer information. The data used for
validation of the models emerges from a recent nation wide survey study (ABOUT) of those who
requested BRCA genetic testing through one of the commercial health insurance companies in the
United States. This is the first study evaluating existing well known BRCA risk estimation models
using data on general population in the United States. The models considered were gradient boosting
model (GBM), random forest, support vector machines, and
