However, his authoritarian leadership style and policies that favored foreign interests over ordinary Mexicans led to growing discontent among the populace. The Mexican Revolution of 1910 overthrew Diaz's regime due to widespread dissatisfaction with the political and economic system that had developed under his long presidency.
