Why is consumer trust important in e commerce? Compare traditional (non e commerce) markets to e

Given the global nature of online transactions, why consumer trust differs across cultures?

Answer:
Trust and Ecommerce
Everyday we place our trust in people and the services those people provide. We trust that our friends
will not betray our confidences, that the water we drink will not make us ill, that the building we work
in will not collapse, that the vendor we buy from will not overcharge us, and so forth. In order to be
productive and comfortable in our lives, we must routinely place our trust in these familiar

The Relief From The Acropolis Analysis
1. In the relief from the Acropolis, the artist captures the physical effort of the oarsmen by showing the
men in an athletic rowing posture. They all appear to be exerting all of their effort into pulling the oar
to move the boat. Also, they all appear to be in good shape, which would be important so they don t
ware out easily. 2. The most important part of being a rower, is that each rower is in perfect sequence
with the other rowers. The timing of each pull on the oar was important in both speed and direction.
Also, timing was very important because with so three row of rowers on each side, they could very
easily hit another oar and slow down the boat. 3. The Triremes would not have worked well for trade

Democratic Government, Search For Truth, And Autonomy
Theoretical Perspective
There are three arguments for free speech which is Democratic Government, Search for Truth, and
Autonomy. According to Utm.org The first philosophical justification of free speech is that free speech
is essential for the proper functioning of a democratic government. An environment of open debate
and dialogue will give lawmakers the opportunity to critically examine possible public policies of
every variety. Democracy involves a wide spectrum of opinions about what is best for society, and it is
impossible for law makers to act on them all (Utm.org). This can also be applied to college campuses.
In order to be a place of higher education the same rules apply. Free Speech is also essential for the
proper functioning of a college or university. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Utm.org Imagine a primitive village that for centuries has gotten its water by hauling it
in buckets from a stream a mile away. Someone then comes up with the idea of diverting the stream to
bring it closer to the village, but the community elders silence him since the implementation of his
idea would disrupt the village s longstanding tradition. The elders might even see the practical benefit
of diverting the stream, but feel that doing so would change the daily rituals of the community, and
possibly create discord among the villagers. We could imagine similar scenarios where leaders
suppress new ideas about agricultural production, medicine, or building construction, all of which
would hinder any advance in scientific knowledge (Utm.org). By refusing other individuals voice of
opinions blocks the truth from society. In this sense, free speech is a requirement in the search for
truth both scientifically and

Evaluation Of Selected Patient And Theories Essay
Course Project Introduction: Selected Patient and Theories In the history of nursing many theories
have been developed and applied to nursing practice. After selecting a patient, I have assessed her
demographics, health status, and health needs. Also, I have selected two theories to address these
needs and have summarized their main concepts. Finally, I have discussed my patient and theories
choices. M.R. is a white fifty two years old Spanish female who lives in Spain. She is five feet and
four inches tall and weighs 121 pounds. She thinks of herself as a member of Western and Spanish
cultures. M.R. is a married Catholic, has two adult children, owns a flat in a tranquil area, and works
as a clerk at a public high school. In Spain health services are paid for using taxes and M.R. lives near
several medical facilities. Although M.R. has a cardiomyopathy, she is otherwise healthy. She
performs self care, activities of daily living, employment tasks, and light exercise independently. In
Spanish culture family members usually live together or nearby and gather on Sundays. However,
M.R. s husband is away on Sundays and her daughter lives in other country. These facts constitute her
cultural needs. Also, M.R. takes care of the household finances and housework and has no time to
socialize. This situation constitutes her main psychosocial need because it has an impact on her
support system. Finally, her spiritual needs include the uncertainty of her condition s process,

A Letter Of Request Letter
A letter of request,
Dear Chief Burial Master, I leave this letter wishing to inform you of my wishes for the afterlife.
I, James Doss leave you this letter regarding the actions that shall be taken to preserve my legacy
beyond this realm in the event of my death. Being a direct descendant to the bloodline of Ramesses
the Second, I expect this letter to be followed to the very letter. Due to the unforeseeable future that
could lie beyond my death, I shall inform you of his accomplishments to prove my worth. Rameses II
throughout his 66 years of rule prove to be one of the most impressive architects of this empire. He
has erected many great temples statues and cities, which now serve as key landmarks for navigation
and many flawlessly serve their purpose, as was defined at their construction. Born to Sety I and
Queen Tuya, Ramesses II showed great promise from an early age. Upon his appointment as ruler, he
began immediate reinforcement and fortification of existing Egyptian defenses showing to the people
he was a ruler that prayed for peace, but prepared for war. On top of his great architectural prowess,
my father should also be noted for his great empathy and kindness. Exhibited many times during his
reign, I wish to detail the instance in which he sheltered his own enemy king Mursili III from the
Hittite people he once commanded. He can also be commended for his brave fighting during various
military campaigns, and especially during the battle of Qadesh in the year 1274

Southwestern University Case Study Essay
Southwestern University Case Study Summary: Southwestern University is a state college in
Stephenville, Texas. The college is known for its Football and have been in the top 20 in the rankings
since the appointment of legendary Bo Pitterno in 2001 as the Head coach for the team. The coach
requested to upgrade the stadium or construct a new stadium to accommodate the large fan base. This
request was heard by the SWU s president, Dr Joel Wisner, who decided that they would upgrade the
stadium based on a forecast of when the current stadium would max out. Problem: Southwestern
University is experiencing a quickly expanding football program. As a result, attendance for home
games is increasing and approaching capacity. It is in the best interest of SWU to forecast attendance
to aid them in deciding when the best time to expand the present stadium, which now holds 54,000.

one of the league best passers. In ____ seasons, he s averaged ________. During his time with the
Wolves his teams have never sniffed the playoffs, and for the most part the Timberwolves remained a
team marked with a lot of change instead of building a team built consistency. At only ____ years old
Rubio is Minnesota most tenured player. He s the point guard of the team and, is viewed as the

During some points, this season the Timberwolves were in games until the end. Let s chalk it up to
inexperience. How tough is it to play for such a young team?
We have to bring it every night. It seems like we er playing in the second half we re just giving up
leads. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the will to win.
A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points of the game. As
one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do to kind of settle the young players
down?
Sometimes when we see when we re down by five or so we ll take a quick three, instead of a two. We
have to keep pushing, and control the tempo of the game. It s easy to talk about it now. It hard to do it
when you re out there on the court but that s when veterans come in.
Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. I think they won t make
some errors that they make now. It s part of growing up. Do you think once they get older they ll start
to slow down?
I mean with experience you learn how to play close games, but like I said you need the will to win,
and play more

Effects Of Morality And Morality
Memory Effects on Ethics and Morality
Introduction
Memory is one of the essential components of a human being. It affects almost all the aspects human
behavior. Ethics and morality are part of two contemporary factors that affect the human memory and
the subsequent actions in the social domain. It seems that people have lowered morals in the phase of
everyday challenges such that ethical dealings are viewed as a typical mountain in most situations. In
most sectors of the public operation, you find that most of the problems that are presented there or are
linked to lack proper ethics and morality. Well as the action of the population says that morality is
relative and not absolute, I always believe that that there should be a bar of reference. Additionally, the
reason why I considered the topic is due to the divergent discussion that comes with it in any given
forum of discussion. The most critical epithet in the topic is its need of reinforcement into the society.
Talking about this topic will open avenues for more vibrant and genuine views on the topic. For this
paper, I will analyze two articles on morality and ethics from the psychology today website.

Persecution In Religion
Persecution in the church was expected and even prized as martyrs believed suffering brought them
closer to Christ. But the church abused this understanding and created a cult of saints reflective of the
old paganism of Rome. The purpose of this paper is to explore the early church and the persecution
and criticisms that it went through. A background of the causes of such oppression will also be
discussed as well as the role that Christians at that time played during this time of hurt. This paper will
utilize the time frame of the first and second century and will highlight the role of the rulers at that
time and their effect on the early church.
The persecution of the early church started with Emperor Nero in Circa in 64AD and after several ...

This marks the beginning of the persecution that the early church underwent in the first and second

Reduction In Force Process
Administrators are very important for all companies as they are assigned sensitive and specific roles
that make certain the company operates at its optimum capacity. At the same time, administrators
ensure all employees perform their expected duties within the company. Among all the roles the
administrators are assigned, conducting a Reduction In Force (RIF) in the company is one of them.
Reduction in the workforce in any company should be handled professionally and amicably whilst
ensuring that the company, the administration, and the employees are all in understanding at that
point. The termination of an employee s employment or contract should only take place when a
company can no longer sustain the entire workforce in addition to not meeting its goals and objectives.
As an administrator, there are several ways that the reduction in force process should be conducted at
the same time as observing various laws that protects employees from sudden termination of their
employment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The RIF process is a complicated process that should not be conducted in a hurry as it increases the
chances of litigation if an employee feels he has been unfairly dismissed by the company (Gray,
Hubbard, Day, n.d.). The initial step in this process is coordinating with the company s counsel and
creating a logical timeline that states how the RIF will be done. The timeline ensures that all decisions
that are made will have been thoroughly deliberated, the creation of proper documentation, and
ensuring all involved parties work together. The timeline also ensures that the employer studies the
timeline accurately to make sure that specific groups of employees will not suffer in this

Book III in Wang Shifu s The Story of the Western Wing
One of China s most popular love comedies, The Story of the Western Wing (Xixiang Ji) by Wang
Shifu (1250 1300) dramatizes a scholar and beauty romance. Zhang Sheng, a promising student, and
Cui Yingying, a beautiful maiden, meet in a temple, fall in love at first sight and after a series of
thwarted attempts, they end up happily marrying each other, after the student has passed the civil
exam as the top one, of course. Among the five books of The Story of the Western Wing, Book III
stands out in the very middle of the whole play with interesting characteristics in terms of both
theatrical features and thematic complexity. First of all, while dan and sheng share most of the ...

Structurally speaking, Book III appears between two climaxes. Book II promises a marriage for the
two lovers but ends up damping their expectations as well as that of the audience all of a sudden when
Madam Cui takes back her word. Book IV begins with the long awaited climactic scene in which
Zhang Sheng and Yingying consummate their love. Put in between these two episodes of dramatic
tension and emotional intensity, Book III may at the surface merely serve as a buffer, that is, a
temporary relief from the breath taking conflicts on the part of the audience. Actually, the dramatic
rhythm at this stage does slow down. As the central character, Hongniang frequently evokes laughter
from the audience with her quick repartee and satirical comments on the pretentious lovers. Apart
from all this, however, by making Hongniang sing all the time and keeping the lovers relatively
reticent they are only heard in dialogues Book III complicates the interrelationships between the three
characters and significantly contributes to the psychological depth of this play. In other words, while
foregrounding Hongniang and exploring the complexity in her motivation, the play also employs her
as a vehicle for the off stage conflicts between Zhang Sheng and Yingying and their inner conflicts,
which are much less spectacular than they are psychological.
However, one has to begin with the question

The Impact Of World War On The World
After four long years of detrimental war, Eastern Europe s power and importance in the world began
to decline. World War 1 took a toll on the population and economy of many Eastern European nations.
Prior to the first World War, most of Eastern Europe was controlled by two great powers, Germany
and Russia. Germany had control over many Eastern European countries such as Lithuania, Estonia,
and Latvia. However, a year after the first World War ended, Germany came to an agreement with the
Allied powers and formed The Treaty of Versailles which changed Europe s Geography tremendously.
Poland and Russia gained some of Germany s territory, while Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, and
the northern portion of Yugoslavia became official countries. After World War 1, some Eastern
European nations were able to establish themselves as independent countries while others remained
dominated by dictatorship. One nation that was successfully able to free itself from two of the major
powers of the Great War was Finland. The First World War allowed Finland to have a chance at
claiming their independence as a growing nation. In 1918, after the first World War had ended,
Finland was able to settle a peace agreement with Germany. They strengthened their ties with
Northern European countries and maintained a flourishing economy.
During the period between WW1 and WW2, Poland was referred to as interwar Poland or the Second
Polish Republic. Poland attempted to breakaway from Russia s rule but were

Trees at the Arctic Circle
Trees at the Arctic Circle. In the poem Trees at the Arctic circle , the author Al Purdy provides a
description of dwarf plants that manage to grow above the tree line on Baffin Island, a Canadian
territory. The topics of this poem are very mundane as he uses different types of trees to illustrate
truths about the human condition, and in particular about life in the Arctic.
However, Purdy s true goal is to remind the reader that humans are judgmental creatures and that it is
only once you take a closer look at the scene in front of you that you are forced to acknowledge a
hidden truth. The author muses aloud as he drastically evolves through a range of emotions:

Now that he has reconsidered the matter he is not afraid to admit he was wrong to look for weaknesses

This last stanza uses more elevated language to express more complicated emotions such as awe,
humility and repentance. The early verses express simple anger in simple terms. This last stanza
differs noticeably from the first two in the language it uses and the sentiments it expresses. To start off
he admits he has made a mistake I see that I ve been carried away l.43. This is the first time he uses a
1st person narrative. It helps the reader believe he is sincere. The poet adopts a humbled tone when he
expresses embarrassment at his earlier attack on the coward trees and feels ashamed: foolish in my
judgments l.46. Instead of denying his previous statements he takes responsibility for them.
In addition, the expression Pontifux Maximus of nullity l.52 53 shows how useless it is to write
poems, with the aid of both obsolete and didactic language. But, the statement itself is a paradox. The
fact that the pontifux maximus , which translates to the pope, a worldwide leader consulted for his
wisdom, is now useless is contradictory. The reader now understands that some things need to be
overlooked. For example, in this case concrete concepts such as words in a poem should not always be

The New Colossus Immigration
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, are a few of Emma
Lazarus words that are forever inscribed on one of the nation s most beloved monuments in New York
City, the Statue of Liberty (The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus). This poem defines the nation for its
longstanding relationship with refugees, yet, the issue has created controversy throughout the years,
specifically during the recent presidential election. Many believe immigrants and refugees have no
right to live in the United States, while others yield completely different, polarized opinions.
Personally, I believe that the United States should not enforce extreme restrictions on immigrants who
desire freedom in the form of fleeing to this country. Those who oppose this claim believe immigrants
will debilitate the economy, enter the country illegally, and potentially harm Americans. However,
these individuals do not take into account how America was built in the first place, how to effectively
strengthen the nation s borders, and the factual data that proves the majority of immigrants do not
threaten the safety of Americans.

the Puritans fled England in an attempt to escape religious persecution by Queen Mary I. Ever ...

No Name Woman, By Maxine Hong Kingston
In No Name Woman , Maxine Hong Kingston discusses a story her mother shared with her. It is about
Kingston s aunt who, while her husband was in America, became pregnant and committed suicide the
day of her illegitimate child s birth. Also included in the story is a raid, undertaken by neighbors and
other villagers, on the aunt s family and home. In order to fully understand the story, it is necessary to
know the historical context. Taking place in 1920s China, the instability, importance of the family, and
attitude towards women impact the final essay. Without taking those three things into account, one
cannot properly analyze Kingston s work.
Before 1924, when the incident takes place, China suffered numerous hardships. There was, for
example, the first Sino Japanese War, which was followed by the Boxer Rebellion only a few years
later. Then, in the span of only a couple of years, the Manchu Restoration and the May Fourth
Movement begin and end. Both of these are attempts at creating a new form of government and are
two of several examples depicting the instability of that time. In addition to that was the rise of the
Communist Party and the constant political infighting within the Republic of China. Overall, ... Show

Confucian beliefs placed women as subservient to men overall. They were meant to obey others in
their family unit, especially their husband, and this belief was only strengthened with the rise of neo
Confucianism. Because the villagers held these ideals, and Kingston s aunt was married, the reaction
to her infidelity was harsh. It also explains why everyone in the family treated the story of Kingston s
aunt as inherently shameful. Kingston s mother, for instance, insisted that nobody else should know
what happened for fear of judgment. The attitude towards women is also why Kingston assumes that

establishing boarding schools to assimilate the American Indian children to the mainstream of

V. Application of the Technique to Marc 1 Realty Benchmarking is applicable to Marc 1 Realty
because all of the things required to conduct this type of study are currently present within the
organization. It has an organizational structure, conducts internal processes, and has a sufficient
number of competitors by which to complete the comparison. Marc 1 Realty has over 100 local
competitors to study. It can also study non traditional real estate service providers such as Redfin and
Assist2Sell, which have drawn many younger home sellers to their platforms. Marc 1 Realty also has
a culture where it continually seeks to improve itself, showing an ability to accept that current
practices may not be the best in the market. This technique will clearly be beneficial for Marc 1 Realty
because discovering the areas that its competitors may excel in will allow the company to re engineer
itself into a form that can better meet these competitive advantages. VI. Plan for Implementing

Irrationality In Power Of One By Bryce Courtenay
In the novel, Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, the protagonist, Peekay, rejects irrationality, and
embraces rationality. When Peekay meets his mother at the train station instead of Nanny, he finds out
about his mother s new religious beliefs and rejects joining her new religion and becoming baptised.
However, Peekay embraces rationality when he returns from his first boxing competition and the other
inmates sensed that Peekay had won; as well as when Peekay is known as the Tadpole Angel and a
God by the other inmates. Thus, Peekay only embraces irrationality when it benefits him rather his
mother s conventional religion that harms him, ultimately re enforcing Doc s advice to Peekay that It

irrationality he still does not question the irrationality of the inmates sensing that Peekay had won the
boxing tournament before he came back and told them the news: Kaffirs are funny that way.
Sometimes they just know things without the telephone or anything (264). Peekay acknowledges that
the inmates sensing things is irrational yet suspends his disbelief. Or the irrationality of the God of

Laremy Tunsil Gas Mask Case Study
It didn t all start with Laremy Tunsil s gas mask. Of the 13 violations levied by the NCAA against Ole
Miss football, four pre date the arrival of the gifted tackle Tunsil and the coach who has lifted the
Rebels to prominence. But nine did occur under Hugh Freeze, and more revelations could be ahead.
On Friday, Ole Miss revealed the NCAA s notice of allegations and, seeking to mitigate the damage,
forfeited 11 football scholarships over a four year span. The school received its notice in January and
released it the Friday before Memorial Day. Even that bit of PR artistry failed to bury the lead, which
was: Ole Miss has requested more time to investigate whether Tunsil, captured in a video while
wearing a gas mask and smoking something of uncertain provenance, was paid to play college
football.
Tunsil was named in three allegations. Others could be forthcoming. Shortly after the gas mask clip hit

Nkemdiche and Treadwell were Round 1 draftees in April, but only the latter, who went 23rd overall,
was taken in a slot commensurate to his talent. Tunsil slipped to 13th, Nkemdiche to 29th. That s the
effect a gas mask video and a fall from a hotel ledge can have on prospective employers, and those
incidents made us wonder: What kind of program was Ole Miss running?
Now this: Nine violations, four deemed major, alleged against the Rebels under Freeze. Before
February s signing day, whispers held that the allegations would mostly involve violations under
former coach Houston Nutt. Having received the notice in January, Ole Miss knew better. But why let
the truth stand in the way of another bumper crop? (Rivals rated the Rebels 2016 class the nation s
seventh best.)
Having penalized itself while admitting that serious violations occurred, Ole Miss now must
determine if Tunsil was indeed paid by coaches. If so, there ll be more allegations, harsher sanctions

The primary goal of this investigation was to determine whether bacteria commonly isolated as a pair
from contact lens cases could coaggregate or cohere. The organisms were used in this study was
isolated from the contact lens cases of asymptomatic daily wearers and stored in culture stock. The
primary outcome of this study demonstrated that coaggregation and cohesion occurred between
Acinetobacter spp, Staphylococcus spp and Micrococcus spp. Two Gram positive bacteria,
Staphylococcus spp and Micrococcus spp also showed coaggregation. But, Acinetobacter spp and
Micrococcus spp showed sporadic coaggregation. However, no coaggregating pairs exhibited the high

Thus we sought to determine whether those bacteria that produced coaggregation were associated with
cohesion in contact lens case biofilm formation. Cohesion can also occur when a pioneer species
modifies the substratum to encourage adhesion of successor species. As, Staphylococcus spp are the
most commonly isolated from the lens cases, could be considered as pioneer species, but 10% of the
lens cases also showed the contamination of Gram negative bacteria. Based on recent in vivo data we
found Staphylococcus spp often isolated with Acinetobacter spp. There is other literature which also
showed the isolation of P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens from lens cases. The present study showed
cohesion between Staphylococcus spp and Acinetobacter spp/ Micrococcus spp, where
Staphylococcus spp can be considered as pioneer species and Acinetobacter and Micrococcus as
successor. Whist this study did not investigate the facilitating factor for the cohesion, will be worth to
consider in future study. The next step will be to see whether the elimination of Micrococcus and
Acinetobacter contamination from lens cases will reduce the adhesion of Staphylococcus spp which
may reduce the overall rate of contact lens case

Monopoly And Monopolistic Competitive Market
The study of Microeconomics tells us of the different market structures the economy is made of. For
the purpose of this paper, we will take an in depth look at three of these such market structures.
Monopoly and Monopolistic competitive market along with Oligopoly. We will look at how and why
these markets exist in conjunction with the advantages to the producer and the disadvantages to the
consumer. As we research Monopoly in detail, compare the monopolistic competitive market and
Oligopoly, we will also discuss the Gas market in relation to these types of markets. To begin to
understand monopolies, we have researched several things. Why do they exist? What do they do, in
response to the economy? Although, we don t see many monopolies now due to antitrust laws to
prevent monopolies from forming, there are natural monopolies. There are several reasons why
monopolies exist. These are known as barriers to entry. Scarce resources with one producer can limit
the number of other firms joining the market as competition. Increasing returns to scale prevents
smaller firms from entering an industry because as output rises average total cost falls. This in turn
enables these producers to grow and tolerate the monopoly. This is now where a natural monopoly is
formed. A single producer of an industry has a large cost advantage over other smaller firms, if they
existed in the industry. A natural monopoly includes local water, gas and electricity providers. These

Although short and non eventful, the battle of Hampton roads, during the Civil war, showed the world
the future of warship construction, forever changing Naval Warfare. After visiting the past through the

the battle itself but the events leading up to it.
The union had a plan to block the confederacy by placing union ships around it. This particular battle
was a small, taking place in Hampton roads, but the size of the battle has no effect on its significance.
The battle is fought between the CSS (confederate states ship) Virginia, formerly called the

weapons, each made of iron. Beforehand war ships were made of wooden material. while ironclads ...

annual report and the viability of investment stocks in PPL in the medium to long term to make a valid
recommendation for Tanya for her potential $30,000 investment. With no accounting knowledge
Tanya is keen to build up a share portfolio that will provide long term benefits. Pumpkin Patch is a
clothing retail store that specializes in selling infant, toddler, children and maternity clothing as well
as accessories. Stores are mainly based in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland with Australia being the
biggest market. Pumpkin Patch hasn t had a very positive 2014 financial year and recommend that
Tanya does not invest $30,000 in PPL.
Profitability
For Pumpkin Patch 2014 was a difficult financial year which proved to be another challenging year
with difficult retail environments in our core markets which impacted the level of earnings achieved as
stated by the chairperson Peter Schuyt.
Australia
Australia had a challenging FY14 with soft retail conditions and high levels of promotional activity
meaning that in the market there are more potential sellers than buyers this can lead to a rapid drop in

Finding Forrester
Finding Forrester: An Analysis
Introduction
Finding Forrester is one of the best movies to come out during its time. It was focused on the story of
boy who is looking for a role model and finding it in the most unexpected place and the most
unexpected person. The movie tells about the journey not just of Jamal Wallace but also of the journey
of William Forrester especially during the last few years of his life. It was a story that presented life in
its beginning and its ending and how the two are intertwined. Wallace s life was just beginning while
Forrester s was ending. Somehow, they bumped into each other and stood side by side during a
particular time wherein the crossroads they both have to face on their own seem to be found in one ...

The movie was dependent on the story line itself and not on visual effects. The story is about an
individual s experience bereft of any sci fi or hard action scenes that did not necessitate the need for
more complex and demanding art direction. Posters and other teasers released for the film often comes
in the warm colors of brown, yellow and something akin to sepia tone which is very warm and
compliments the warmth on the face and character of Sean Connery. The art direction also settled for
easily readable typography. Photography captured the softness in the physical characteristics of
Connery and Brown and transforms it as visual cue for the audience to lead them towards feeling the
unexpected emotional bond that these two men will share in the story.
Acting
As one of Sean Connery s dramatic movies that earned many positive remarks from critics, Finding
Forrester can be judged acting wise as a movie that reflects the emotional acting style of both Connery
and Brown. As usual, Connery brings to the table his father like demeanor that enhanced his acting,
while Brown was effective in playing the student who looks for an idol to look up to, and finding it in
Connery s character in the movie. Connery was effective in acting out the recluse, solitary literary
genius and was able to communicate to the audience through his acting the changes in his emotional
state but not allowing the audience to guess into the future of the

The Shepherd Motif In The Bible
Roman, in response to your thread you quote Laniak as saying Isaiah was clear about satire of biblical
leadership: to rule is to serve and to suffer, and to lead is to be both shepherd and sacrificial lamb
(Laniak, 129). This reference indeed is a clear demonstration of the shepherd motif in the Old
Testament. I believe I can rightly say that this text epitomizes the doctrine we have been surveying
through the reading of Laniak s book and the Bible. As we have been scouring through the Scriptures,
with the help of Laniak, we can easily find the shepherd metaphor used of God and of human leaders
throughout the Old and New Testament. Especially when it is used in referenced to the coming
Messiah. You have certainly combed through both texts (Laniak the Bible) wrote this detailed

The cup of God s wrath was exercised. Then and today, the Lion of heaven prepares to pounce those
shepherds who have preyed on the flock of God (49:19 21), (Laniak 140). This reference is clear on

you delve into the prophet Ezekiel, you make use of the verse that I have shortened to refer to the
shepherd motif, ... I will take note of you as you pass under my rod, and I will bring you into the bond

Louis Xiv s Influence On Modern Art
Every great work of art has two faces, one toward its own time and one toward the future, toward
eternity. Art in and of itself is a reflection of the ideals and concepts promoted during the time it was
conceived in, and serves as a historical litmus test as to which periods it draws inspiration from;
however, as Daniel Barenboim states in his quote above, impactful art that resonates with the human
spirit lasts beyond its time. Throughout history, art serves as the visual manifestation of the power and
wealth of those who patronize the medium and by extension the period s culture. More importantly,
however, art can serve as a lasting mark and legacy for those who desire to leave a visual reminder of
their strength while they were living. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sun King, nicknamed as such because of his permeating influence throughout France, attained
what was perhaps the most flagrant and impressive demonstration of power and wealth up to his time
through his residence: the Palace of Versailles. At its completion, Versailles was Louis XIV s call to
the world, making its presence felt with the attention to detail and decadence directed towards all of
Europe. The exterior was worked on by French architect Louis Le Vau, who melded the best of the
previous classical Renaissance style with the burgeoning French Baroque of curved, complex facades
with high reaching domes and twisted columns. Under the direction of interior designer Charles Le
Brun, the interior of Versailles defined French Baroque by its sheer scope and decadence, most
notably with the Hall of Mirrors, where he extrapolates the illusionistic quality found in the Baroque
style and enlarges the room through a series of inset mirrors reflecting the arched windows opposite
them. Once populated with gold and silver chairs upholstered with red brocade and other opulent
ornamentation, the Hall of Mirrors was one of many rooms used to host festivals open to the notable
European figures of his time as well as salons, where hosts provided a platform for leisurely intelligent
discussion. Given the unparalleled extravagance of the palace, it would be overwhelming to a viewer
were it not for the vast park designed by Andre Le Notre, whose careful composition of vistas
throughout the formal gardens provide a rational and beautiful frame to the ornamented palace. The
gardens also reinforce the concept of Louis XIV s power, extending the idea of his governance to even
the natural world that surrounds him. Truly, through the manifestation

A Literary Analysis Of Atonement By Ian Mcewan
Atonement
Published in 2002 by Ian McEwan, Atonement presents readers with a story of love and war,
childhood and class, guilt and forgiveness (McEwan back cover). In this narrative, a ripple effect of
unfortunate events occurs after a thirteen year old girl named Briony falsely accuses someone of
raping her cousin Lola. Through the character s actions, the readers come to understand that one
cannot change the past, even if they seek atonement with the highest amount of effort. Ian McEwan
does an excellent job of presenting this theme by shifting through different perspectives, using
symbolism, and showing the metamorphosis of the characters, specifically in Briony. Over the course

The theme and truth is that there was an absence of atonement in Atonement (Pastoor 1) and the
recognition that one could attempt to achieve it, but might never actually get there. One cannot change
the past or justify one s actions in the process of obtaining atonement. However, one can try to do the
right thing and learn from one s mistakes, and even pass on those mistakes so that others do not
imitate them just like how Briony wrote about the consequences of her mistakes in her novels. She
was not selfish enough to give herself a happy ending by letting Cecilia and Robbie forgive her, but
she gave Cecilia and Robbie a happy ending. If Robbie and Cecilia are dead, as many readers presume
from Briony s statements, then let their deaths not be in vain through her stories, but if they are alive,
then it would be ideal for them to read her story and truly forgive her for this might be the closest and

During the second phase, a device specifically sized for each child is also worn at night. It works to
gently guide the incoming permanent teeth into the appropriate places, correct jaw relations, and
expand the arches to make room for the larger incoming adult teeth. This helps to eliminate and
prevent any improper dentition. This device is worn for only about two to five months before the final

teeth in the mouth, the third and final treatment begins with a device used to accommodate the

the natural fiber bundles are able to form, therefore locking them into the correct alignment. This

Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s Hamlet a Victim not Murderer
Gertrude never seems to get in the middle of Hamlet and Claudius disputes, so many tend to assume
that she is involved in King Hamlet s murder. However, there is an abundance of in text evidence that
suggests she is very innocent and oblivious to Claudius plots throughout the play. Most of this
evidence supporting that Gertrude has nothing to do with King Hamlet s sudden death. From the start,
Gertrude comes off as a very clueless and almost blind character to the things happening around her.
She mourns for the death of the man she loved, but with her country in mind does what she thinks is

Instead of asking ridiculous questions and going haywire, like her new husband, Gertrude simply
comments on the acting by saying, ? The lady protests too much, methinks? (Shakespeare 3.2.168).
She even becomes baffled by Claudius? strange behavior when he screams, ?Give me some light,
away!? (Shakespeare 3.2.172). Gertrude clearly did now know the plot line of the play before having
seen it, therefore she could not have been involved in the making of it earlier in the play. When
problems with Ophilia and Hamlet arise, Claudius simply sees this as another opportunity to quiet
Hamlet. He encourages the relationship, hoping if Hamlet is seeing Polonius? daughter, he wont speak
out about his suspicions of Claudius. Although, when Gertrude gets word of these news, she sees this
as a completely different opportunity. She, unlike her new husband, encourages the relationship in
hopes that it will cheer up her son and he will return to normal. She says to Ophilia, ?And for your
part, Ophelia, I do wish that your good beauties be the happy cause of Hamlet s wildness. So shall I
hope your virtues will bring him to his wonted way again, to both your honors? (Shakespeare
3.1.136). Gertrude only thinks of her sons well being. In which case, if she had been involved in King
Hamlets murder, she would probably be more worried about not being caught instead of how to make
Hamlet happy again. If Gertrude was Claudius? partner in crime, one would assume that he would let

An environment of open debate and dialogue will give lawmakers the opportunity to critically examine possible public policies of every variety. Democracy involves a wide spectrum of opinions about what is best for society, and it is impossible for law makers to act on them all (Utm.org). This can also be applied to college campuses. Someone then comes up with the idea of diverting the stream to bring it closer to the village, but the community elders silence him since the implementation of his idea would disrupt the village s longstanding tradition. The elders might even see the practical benefit of diverting the stream, but feel that doing so would change the daily rituals of the community, and possibly create discord among the villagers. We could imagine similar scenarios where leaders suppress new ideas about agricultural production, medicine, or building construction, all of which would hinder any advance in scientific knowledge (Utm.org). By refusing other individuals voice of opinions blocks the truth from society. In this sense, free speech is a requirement in the search for truth both scientifically and ... It affects almost all the aspects human behavior. Ethics and morality are part of two contemporary factors that affect the human memory and the subsequent actions in the social domain. It seems that people have lowered morals in the phase of everyday challenges such that ethical dealings are viewed as a typical mountain in most situations. In most sectors of the public operation, you find that most of the problems that are presented there or are linked to lack proper ethics and morality. Well as the action of the population says that morality is relative and not absolute, I always believe that that there should be a bar of reference. Book II promises a marriage for the two lovers but ends up damping their expectations as well as that of the audience all of a sudden when Madam Cui takes back her word. Put in between these two episodes of dramatic tension and emotional intensity, Book III may at the surface merely serve as a buffer, that is, a temporary relief from the breath taking conflicts on the part of the audience. Actually, the dramatic rhythm at this stage does slow down. As the central character, Hongniang frequently evokes laughter from the audience with her quick repartee and satirical comments on the pretentious lovers. Apart from all this, however, by making Hongniang sing all the time and keeping the lovers relatively reticent they are only heard in dialogues Book III complicates the interrelationships between the three characters and significantly contributes to the psychological depth of this play. In other words, while foregrounding Hongniang and exploring the complexity in her motivation, the play also employs her as a vehicle for the off stage conflicts between Zhang Sheng and Yingying and their inner conflicts, which are much less spectacular than they are psychological. The New Colossus Immigration Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, are a few of Emma Lazarus words that are forever inscribed on one of the nation s most beloved monuments in New York City, the Statue of Liberty (The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus). Many believe immigrants and refugees have no right to live in the United States, while others yield completely different, polarized opinions. It is about Kingston s aunt who, while her husband was in America, became pregnant and committed suicide the day of her illegitimate child s birth. Also included in the story is a raid, undertaken by neighbors and other villagers, on the aunt s family and home. In order to fully understand the story, it is necessary to know the historical context. Taking place in 1920s China, the instability, importance of the family, and attitude towards women impact the final essay. Without taking those three things into account, one cannot properly analyze Kingston s work. Before 1924, when the incident takes place, China suffered numerous hardships. There was, for example, the first Sino Japanese War, which was followed by the Boxer Rebellion only a few years later. Then, in the span of only a couple of years, the Manchu Restoration and the May Fourth Movement begin and end. Although, we don t see many monopolies now due to antitrust laws to prevent monopolies from forming, there are natural monopolies. There are several reasons why monopolies exist. These are known as barriers to entry. Scarce resources with one producer can limit the number of other firms joining the market as competition. Increasing returns to scale prevents smaller firms from entering an industry because as output rises average total cost falls. This in turn enables these producers to grow and tolerate the monopoly. • 30. Finding Forrester Finding Forrester: An Analysis Introduction Finding Forrester is one of the best movies to come out during its time. It was focused on the story of boy who is looking for a role model and finding it in the most unexpected place and the most unexpected person. The movie tells about the journey not just of Jamal Wallace but also of the journey of William Forrester especially during the last few years of his life. It was a story that presented life in its beginning and its ending and how the two are intertwined. Wallace s life was just beginning while Forrester s was ending. The story is about an individual s experience bereft of any sci fi or hard action scenes that did not necessitate the need for more complex and demanding art direction. Posters and other teasers released for the film often comes in the warm colors of brown, yellow and something akin to sepia tone which is very warm and compliments the warmth on the face and character of Sean Connery. The art direction also settled for easily readable typography. Photography captured the softness in the physical characteristics of Connery and Brown and transforms it as visual cue for the audience to lead them towards feeling the unexpected emotional bond that these two men will share in the story. Acting As one of Sean Connery s dramatic movies that earned many positive remarks from critics, Finding Forrester can be judged acting wise as a movie that reflects the emotional acting style of both Connery and Brown. As usual, Connery brings to the table his father like demeanor that enhanced his acting, while Brown was effective in playing the student who looks for an idol to look up to, and finding it in Connery s character in the movie. Connery was effective in acting out the recluse, solitary literary genius and was able to communicate to the audience through his acting the changes in his emotional state but not allowing the audience to guess into the future of the ... The Shepherd Motif In The Bible Roman, in response to your thread you quote Laniak as saying Isaiah was clear about satire of biblical leadership: to rule is to serve and to suffer, and to lead is to be both shepherd and sacrificial lamb (Laniak, 129). This reference indeed is a clear demonstration of the shepherd motif in the Old Testament. I believe I can rightly say that this text epitomizes the doctrine we have been surveying through the reading of Laniak s book and the Bible. As we have been scouring through the Scriptures, with the help of Laniak, we can easily find the shepherd metaphor used of God and of human leaders throughout the Old and New Testament. • 33. Louis Xiv s Influence On Modern Art Every great work of art has two faces, one toward its own time and one toward the future, toward eternity. Art in and of itself is a reflection of the ideals and concepts promoted during the time it was conceived in, and serves as a historical litmus test as to which periods it draws inspiration from; however, as Daniel Barenboim states in his quote above, impactful art that resonates with the human spirit lasts beyond its time. Throughout history, art serves as the visual manifestation of the power and wealth of those who patronize the medium and by extension the period s culture. More importantly, however, art can serve as a lasting mark and legacy for those who desire to leave a visual reminder of their strength while they were living. ... The Sun King, nicknamed as such because of his permeating influence throughout France, attained what was perhaps the most flagrant and impressive demonstration of power and wealth up to his time through his residence: the Palace of Versailles. At its completion, Versailles was Louis XIV s call to the world, making its presence felt with the attention to detail and decadence directed towards all of Europe. The exterior was worked on by French architect Louis Le Vau, who melded the best of the previous classical Renaissance style with the burgeoning French Baroque of curved, complex facades with high reaching domes and twisted columns. Under the direction of interior designer Charles Le Brun, the interior of Versailles defined French Baroque by its sheer scope and decadence, most notably with the Hall of Mirrors, where he extrapolates the illusionistic quality found in the Baroque style and enlarges the room through a series of inset mirrors reflecting the arched windows opposite them. Once populated with gold and silver chairs upholstered with red brocade and other opulent ornamentation, the Hall of Mirrors was one of many rooms used to host festivals open to the notable European figures of his time as well as salons, where hosts provided a platform for leisurely intelligent discussion. Given the unparalleled extravagance of the palace, it would be overwhelming to a viewer were it not for the vast park designed by Andre Le Notre, whose careful composition of vistas throughout the formal gardens provide a rational and beautiful frame to the ornamented palace. The gardens also reinforce the concept of Louis XIV s power, extending the idea of his governance to even the natural world that surrounds him. Truly, through the manifestation ... • 34. A Literary Analysis Of Atonement By Ian Mcewan Atonement Published in 2002 by Ian McEwan, Atonement presents readers with a story of love and war, childhood and class, guilt and forgiveness (McEwan back cover). In this narrative, a ripple effect of unfortunate events occurs after a thirteen year old girl named Briony falsely accuses someone of raping her cousin Lola. Through the character s actions, the readers come to understand that one cannot change the past, even if they seek atonement with the highest amount of effort. Ian McEwan does an excellent job of presenting this theme by shifting through different perspectives, using symbolism, and showing the metamorphosis of the characters, specifically in Briony. One cannot change the past or justify one s actions in the process of obtaining atonement. However, one can try to do the right thing and learn from one s mistakes, and even pass on those mistakes so that others do not imitate them just like how Briony wrote about the consequences of her mistakes in her novels. She was not selfish enough to give herself a happy ending by letting Cecilia and Robbie forgive her, but she gave Cecilia and Robbie a happy ending. If Robbie and Cecilia are dead, as many readers presume from Briony s statements, then let their deaths not be in vain through her stories, but if they are alive, then it would be ideal for them to read her story and truly forgive her for this might be the closest and only way to obtain some sort of ... Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) is a common medical disorder that is increasingly recognized in children almost 30 million American children are living with SDB. SDB can range from frequent loud snoring to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) a condition involving repeated episodes of partial or complete blockage of the airway during sleep. When a child s breathing is disrupted during sleep, their growing bodies are deprived of the one thing they need most oxygen. This initial device is typically worn anywhere from one to four months before moving on to the next step. Step 2: Ortho Tain® for Kids During the second phase, a device specifically sized for each child is also worn at night. It works to gently guide the incoming permanent teeth into the appropriate places, correct jaw relations, and expand the arches to make room for the larger incoming adult teeth. This helps to eliminate and prevent any improper dentition. This device is worn for only about two to five months before the final phase of treatment begins. Step 3: Ortho Tain® for Kids Once the child has at least four permanent teeth in the mouth, the third and final treatment begins with a device used to accommodate the incoming adult teeth. This is a vital stage in our treatment process because as the adult teeth are forming, the gum tissue fibers are beginning to anchor these teeth in the mouth. When using this third phase of treatment, the Perfect Start System ensures the adult teeth erupt into their proper position and the natural fiber bundles are able to form, therefore locking them into the correct alignment. Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s Hamlet a Victim not Murderer Gertrude never seems to get in the middle of Hamlet and Claudius disputes, so many tend to assume that she is involved in King Hamlet s murder. However, there is an abundance of in text evidence that suggests she is very innocent and oblivious to Claudius plots throughout the play. Most of this evidence supporting that Gertrude has nothing to do with King Hamlet s sudden death. From the start, Gertrude comes off as a very clueless and almost blind character to the things happening around her. Gertrude clearly did now know the plot line of the play before having seen it, therefore she could not have been involved in the making of it earlier in the play. When problems with Ophilia and Hamlet arise, Claudius simply sees this as another opportunity to quiet Hamlet. He encourages the relationship, hoping if Hamlet is seeing Polonius? daughter, he wont speak out about his suspicions of Claudius. Although, when Gertrude gets word of these news, she sees this as a completely different opportunity. She, unlike her new husband, encourages the relationship in hopes that it will cheer up her son and he will return to normal. She says to Ophilia, ?And for your part, Ophelia, I do wish that your good beauties be the happy cause of Hamlet s wildness. So shall I hope your virtues will bring him to his wonted way again, to both your honors? (Shakespeare 3.1.136). Gertrude only thinks of her sons well being.
