Classifying Ancient Asia
Asian archaeology has distinct variety of hominid and hominoid from the Pleistocene, unusual
subsistence adaptations from the Holocene, and simple complex polities. Carl Sauer, an American
geographer, was one of the first scholars to note Asia as a source for the genesis of agriculture:
some of the earliest domesticated plants were found in Asia. The earliest pottery also appeared
more than 12,000 years ago Jomon huntergatherers in Japan . Yet Asia s uniqueness does not make
it incomparable to developments elsewhere in the Old and New Worlds; understanding Asia s
ancient histories is important for the elaboration of developments across the Eurasian continent.
Most Koreans (both Northerners and Southerners) believe that their people came from a first
ancestor, Tangun, who was brought to the world by a female bear and Hwantung, the son of
heaven; and the recent discovery of the eighty six bone fragments in that date to 5001 B.P. in
Pyongyang (alleged to be those of Tan gun and his queen) united and strengthened the Koreans
belief of their ethnogenesis. British and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A civilization should have cities considering their dense population. Complex religions, usually
polytheistic, is another characteristic of a civilization since religious leaders would perform
ritualistic sacrifices for the gods to insure productive harvests and the like; with these religions
come art and architecture for busts, statues, and temples of gods. Social classes and organized
central governments were needed for overseeing the maintenance of order in places. Job
specialization came about as the population and the demand for needs increased, making artisans,
smiths, potters, and other people who have a lot more skill and knowledge of a practice. Writing

The Impact of the Growing Economic Power of China
The Impact of the Growing Economic Power of China
China is the second largest economy in the world after the US. This is measured by both nominal
GDP ($4.99 trillion), and by purchasing power ($8.77 trillion). The Peoples Republic of China, as it
is officially called, is the world s fastest growing major economy in the world with an average
growth rate of 10% for the past 30 years. China is also the second largest trading nation in the
world as well as being the largest exporter and second largest importer of goods.
China has the largest population in the world with approximately 1,338,612,968 inhabitants. With
more than 70% of the population being economically active i.e. at a working age (15 64) this, as

China s foreign reserves are on the increase as well since the year 2002. In 2007, it has the world
s greatest amount of foreign reserves amounting up to $1528 billion US dollars, exceeding the
next largest holder, Japan. Official sources elaborate that US dollar holdings comprise of 60% of
the reserves. This means that the US has a very large chunk of it reserves and therefore would not
want China to declare itself bust any time soon. By 2050, it is also estimated that China will
overtake the US and become the largest economy on the planet and will therefore be the largest

Visual Effects And Its Effects On Modern Films
Visual Effects Pipelines
The film making process in modern films is a lot more complex than it has ever been.
Even the simplest of films require a large amount of crew and equipment, but none of these
processes has advanced the state of cinema as visual effects has. It says a lot that the highest
grossing films of all time are heavily driven by visual effects, one can infer that visual effects are
now a major part of storytelling. The majority of films contain visual effects, even when you don t
realize it. Are the actors driving down the highway? Is there a window in the scene?
Does the actor look unusually younger than usual? Most of these are invisible effects, often shot in
front of a green screen. Within each process that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artists could know what elements were to be used in finalizing each shot, a feat that sometimes
required chasing down information. Now the information would be organized, and anything that
was approved up the pipeline would be made available. They provided training on the new system,
and it worked under a perfect training scenario. Once it was put into practice, it was a different
matter.
Conflict arises
The moment we tried putting this into practice, artists soon began to realize that the
VISUAL EFFECTS PIPELINES 4 system, although followed as explained, wasn t working as
expected. There was a plethora of information missing from the menus, wrong versions of elements
published, and a lot of confused and irritated artists. The system, unfortunately, went back to the
drawing board, leaving people to chase down information the old fashioned way.
Root cause hunting
We ll be implementing a Root Cause Analysis to the problem, intending to find the reason why the
system failed, and what steps can be used to ensure that the new implementation does not go the
same way. Unfortunately, I was not involved in decision making process, and therefore can only
analyse the situation from an artist s view. We ll start off by gathering the data from interactions
with other artists. This was all feedback given amongst the artists themselves, before having it
relayed to the development team.

Love For England And Lucy By William Wordsworth
Before the Lyrical Ballad was published, William Wordsworth spent time in Germany away
from England. During this time, he composed a set of poems that would eventually be known as
the Lucy Poems . This set of poems would make their way into the first edition of the Lyrical
Ballad. All of them, except for one. Out of the five poems he writes, I travell d among unknown
Men wouldn t appear in the Lyrical Ballad alongside the other four Lucy Poems (Locke, 44). This
particular poem, compared to the rest, is the most iconic poem for showing Wordsworth s lovefor
England and Lucy . I travell d among unknown Men is a four stanza poem with four lines in each
stanza. The format is in an ABAB style and consists of the first and third line of... Show more

The fact that Wordsworth puts In Lands beyond the Sea in his poem signifies that during the
creation of this poem he was, at one point, away from his home. In this case that place was
Germany. Wordsworth also does this in order to connect to the audience on a deeper level of
thought. For those who have been through a similar situation as Wordsworth, they would feel
the presence of walking among unknown Men more noticeably than others. This stanza ties in
with the following stanza, Nor, England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee (lines 3
4), to make the primary message of his poem clear: Wordsworth, during his time in Germany, is
realizing how much he loves England. Because he has stayed away from England for a long
period of time he begins to realize how much he loves it. Wordsworth loves it so much so that he
states that, once he returns to England, he will never leave England again (line 6). The
reasoning, however, is not because he despises Germany or loves the country of England in its
entirety. Rather, it is because of the unknown figure of Lucy who is also a separate focus in this
poem. Wordsworth makes the connection between Lucy and England by expressing how his
feelings of joy and desire of England came from her presence. She is introduced into the poem at
line 11 and 12 in which she turned her wheel beside and English Fire and is confirmed to be Lucy
at lines 15 and 16 in which she saw a green field

Compare And Contrast The New Deal And The Jacksonian Era
A reform movement is a type of social movement that aims to make a gradual change in certain
aspects of society, rather than rapid or fundamental changes. Reforms targeted the causes of the
depression and sought to prevent a crisis like it from happening again. By financially rebuilding the
U.S. while ensuring not to repeat history. The New Deal period and the Jacksonian Era are periods
that introduced many reforms during those times.
The New Deal was a series of federal programs, public work projects, financial reforms and
regulations enacted in the United States during the 1930s, by the response to the Great Depression.
At the beginning of the Great Depression, the economy was destabilized by bank failures followed
by credit difficulties.

Case Study On Gross National Happiness In Bhutan
Case study: Gross National Happiness in Bhutan Abstract As a society we care about what we
measure, we use what we measure, and what we measure drives policies and society in a
particular direction. We therefore need to measure progress correctly. If societies blindly accept
GDP as their measure of progress, they might be trying to maximize the wrong indicator for
society. Bhutan as a living example of a society that has opened a national dialogue about what
progress means, and they have created the Gross National Happiness (GNH) index to reflect their
understanding of progress. Furthermore, the political and economic architecture of Bhutan is
structured around maximizing GNH rather than GDP. We can draw a number of lessons from the
Bhutanese experiment, namely that each individual society should strive to answer the following
three What does progress mean? How do we develop indicators that measure progress? How de
we use indicators to shape policies and institutions? All societies seek to create wellbeing for
individuals. The question is not whether societies desire welfare or not. The fundamental questions
are: what does wellbeing mean? How do we measure it? And how do we organize society and its
institutions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indicators reveal particular information about society. They thus embody values that people
care about or at least should care about, if indicators are to drive the policies that push society in
a genuine direction of progress. As a society we value what we measure and we use what we
measure to make decisions that impact people s lives. Why are indicators important?
Policymakers increasingly look at data like GDP to make decisions about what are good policies
Therefore, if indicators don t measure what people care about and a country s economic and
political architecture is designed to maximize the value of those indicators, the indicators might
increase but society might not be

Essay on Industrial Revolution
2. INTRODUCTION
During the second half of the 17th century, there were a drastic breakthrough in mainly Great
Britain s, but gradually the rest of the worlds development, that would lead to radical changes in
peoples lives, working relations and environment.
Industrial revolution was so fundamental that it s often compared with the transition from farming
to stock raising, which began several thousand years before the birth of Christ. Considering the uses
of natural resources, can human history be dived up into three pieces of varying length; hundreds of
thousands years before the agricultural revolution , thousands of years between this and the
Industrial revolution and the two hundreds years after the beginning of Industrial ... Show more

A serie of technical ideas were combined step by step to form new systems. Mainly two of these
got a big importance and lead to the textile industry and coalfield technology.
The Industrial Revolution was not a sudden appearance; it was the result of a long learning period.
The most common to say that it started was in Great Britain for 250 years ago.
The initial stages were in the 1760th. Within a half decade it started to spread, at first to the north
west parts of Europe and to the USA. The early industrialisation in Belgium, France started around
the 1820th. Industrialisation process arised from the extensive changes that occurred in the world
economy.
4.2 Britain and the increased population
Before the 17th century, the most prominent economies in the world, was characterised by
handicraft works and a big labour force that was engaged to farming. Some factors started during
the 17th century that gave rise to the worlds first Industrial revolution, such as rise of the middle
class, expansion of trade and markets, centralisation of the state and scientific revolution. Many of
these were specific for Great Britain, were the Industrial revolution started.
New farming methods came to use during late 16th century. Farmers in many parts of Europe,
including Ireland, France, started to raise potatoes. A plant from the New World , that for a long
tome was seen with a big suspiciousness. A higher rate of potato

Winkler A.G. is a manufacturer of packaging materials for the grocery chain stores, electronics,
food processing industries, office products and house ware products. The company is headquartered
is in Berlin and they have manufacturing plants in Hamburg and Stuttgart, Germany.
Manufacturing operations is broken down to 50% for 4 major customers and 50% for grocery
chain and food products. Winkler has about 50% market share with an average of 25%
contribution margin. Notably, Winkler leads in the fiber container used for packaging snack food

The next 3 year forecasted volume is also expected to be in the same region.
The adoption of JIT strategy should be based on Hess outsourcing of their manufacturing facilities
and the formulation of a long term partner relationship.
The justification for JIT implementation is that orders supplied to Hess has higher margins than the
other 3 customers.
If JIT is implemented, it will improve on Winkler s delivery lead time and give it a competitive
advantage over their competitors.
This strategy may work in favor of Hess and may not benefit Winkler as it requires changes in
manufacturing strategy in terms of production system changes.
Investment needed for the implementation of JIT program can derail their plans if Hess changes
their strategy on outsourcing their manufacturing capability.
ii.New Product Introductions (NPI)
Implementation of new packaging innovations to meet customer requirements will grow their
market share in the fiber container business. Distinctive packaging and material differentiation
enables improved pricing and margins.

instead of metal ends. This can be their competitive advantage to help their biggest customer
(Basler) get out of self manufacturing, instead of them transferring their volumes to another
competitor.

Erikson s Psychodynamic Stage Analysis
By this point My father had moved out and I do not know how often I saw him. My earliest
memories still do not encompass this time period. Freud identifies this period as Phallic Stage.
My father was not there full time so I was not able to fully grasp his mannerisms and learn manly
things. Some say I can be effeminate at times, and my choice of friends causes questions as well.
During this stage Freud notes that their sexual identity is formed (McLeod). For most of my
adult life my close friends fall into categories that quite often other people do not understand. My
close emotional friends are mostly gay males, whereas my sexual partners are females, both bi
and straight. My male friends are compassionate, understanding. Since I identify as straight, they
are non threatening to my sexual partners and quite often know more straight girls than I do.

Analysis Of The Woman Hollering Creek
In the Woman Hollering Creek, Sandra Cisneros makes use of several short stories to expose the
Mexican culture destined gender roles inequalities against women. From an utterly young age, most
Mexican girls are endangered to take the household responsibilities as their core duty. Once they
reach adolescence, they imperiled to think about marriage as the unrivaled way for them to leave
their parent s support. I argue that the Mexican culture through the medium of tradition and media
are assembling a society in which woman, from the moment they are born, bear a life of parental
and marital submission.
Moreover, in the Woman Hollering Creek, Cisneros exposes the story of Cleofilas Hernandez.
Cisneros unveils parental submission in Cleofilas life on the first page. Cisneros writes, The day
Don Serafin gave Juan Pedro Martinez Sanchez permission to take Cleofilas Enriqueta DeLeon
Hernandez as his bride... (Cisneros 43). This is significant because it emphasizes the power Don
Serafin has over Cleofilas life, he is in power to directly decide whom she is going to marry by
rejecting or accepting individual. Although, many would argue that rather giving Serafin Cleofilas
is just following the tradition of asking the parents. Since her mother is deceased her father is the
only option, nonetheless, the diction suggests that rather than Cleofilas asking for permission
appears that Cleofilas is being given away. In this instance, her hand is not remotely mentioned thus

The Environment Protection Agency s New Clean Power Plan
Introduction
Consol Energy is heavily involved in two major industries: coal and natural gas. This is an
interesting situation given that the two industries directly compete against one another. As a result,
Consol is diversified and strategically projected against the risk of downturn in either profit stream.
Coal Industry
The coal industry has a gloomy economic forecast going forward. The U.S. Environment
Protection Agency s new Clean Power Plan (a part of the Clean Air Act) causes much
uncertainty for corporations like Consol. It was proposed by the EPA in June of 2014. The goal of
the Clean Power Plan is to decrease CO2 emissions by 30 percent in the year 2030 from 2005
levels. Already, it has had an impact on the internal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prices for coal are currently down. This drop has coincided with the drop in oil prices.
Originally, it was expected that these two prices would be tied together, and that the drop would
be quite temporary. However, the longer that coal has been down, the more likely it looks like it
is down for the count so to speak. Many analysts believe that there has been an over production
of coal in the past decade and the market has been saturated as a result. With every passing month
that coal s prices stay low, and the supplies keep growing, it becomes less likely that things will
turn around for the better in a permanent manner. Even with the rest of the world playing catchup
with the transition to zero carbon intensive energy sources, the U.S. coal exports have been
extremely low. China, for instance, has imported less in recent years. At one point, they were
helping to drive our export market. In response to the lower demand, many mining corporations
have begun to optimize their operations. This has been done by focusing on lower mining
production costs, cheaper transportation costs, and favorable exchange rates. The goal is to keep
operations from further declining profit wise as the U.S. Energy Information Administration
expects a 7% decrease in total coal consumption for the year 2015. This decline in coal
consumption will likely cause a decline in coal production, causing a decline in jobs for states such
as Wyoming, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, and

them. According to a teacher, lunch is more versatile to students because there s nothing expected

time because student s won t be working. This then brings up the idea of working in the library and

Looking at another teacher interview, working in either location would be a waste of time because
there would be more downtime than work. As a result, both locations wouldn t be utilized probably.

Sight And Phonic Method
In the Literacy Methods course that is taught by, Dr. Walizer discussed this week with the class
about on how to introduce a word from the sight and phonics method, by the ERCI method. The
sight method involves a process, that starts by introducing a word, then reading it out loud, then by
spelling the word, and then lastly writing the word. It is perfectly ok to go through this method
many times, just to make sure each student is comprehending and grasping what you are trying to
teach. To teach this lesson, a teacher should have the word they are going to introduce on a
notecard that the students will eventually, be able to read, spell, and write out. The next step is
when the teacher then uses the word that is being introduced in a sentence, so that the students
have a better idea of what that word... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The teacher will then have the students proof and correct again and this time they can point to the
ceiling again or to the door, but to make sure they are writing the word, by pointing to each of the
letters. Although learning the words from the sight and phonics method they had quite a few
similarities as well as differences too. The main difference between them both was the class
decoding and the sounding out of each letter of the words. Essentially, the sight word is a lot easier
to memorize then the phonics method, because with the phonics method you have to break down
each sound and word by each letter too. The sight method could be a lot easier with easier words to
make it easier on your younger students and the phonics method could be a bit more difficult, but
on the other hand but helpful to them, by having them sound out each letter to determine what the
word is. If a student is unfamiliar with vowels, consonants, and homophones this could be a
challenge and hard for them to sound out each of the letters

Sharks-Personal Narrative

Scandal Vs Watergate
Among the similarities of Iran contra scandal and Watergate we have a concerned likely
wrongdoing at the very top of a presidential administration; conducting in the formal splendor of the
Senate Caucus Room; fact finding voyages in which courtroom rules of evidence, comprising of
bans on hearsay evidence did not apply, instants of crackling tension and high drama; stretches of
plodding, eye glazing dullness; displayed strong minded witnesses against strong minded committee

was marked by conflict, by faltering memories which Watergate Chairman Sam Ervin called
convenient forgetters. And finally, both had star witnesses. In contrast, Watergate

Similarities Between Ran And King Lear
Despite contrasting contexts, a well developed understanding of the shared ideas between two texts
has been achieved through comparative study. The play King Lear (1606) but William
Shakespeare and the Japanese film adaptation Ran (1985) by Akira Kurosawa share similar values
despite coming from different parts of the world, and being written in different time periods. The
concept of Chaos highlights the need to respect the values of society, and Justice is used throughout
both texts to explore morality and the consequences that one s actions possess.
The theme of Chaos has been used within the play to reflect the societal values of Elizabethan
England. King Lear was written just after Queen Elizabeth I s death in 1603, when King James I
was crowned. King James quickly became an unpopular ruler, as he would not listen to other s
opinions, and made very harsh decisions, similar to King Lear himself. How in one house,
should many people under two commands hold amity? Tis hard, almost impossible. (Act 2
Scene 4) Regan is asking Lear how his knights and her servants can get along when they have
two authority figures, using the chaos that Lear s knights have caused as an excuse to dismiss
them and claim the last of Lear s power. This power struggle ties in with the Elizabethan concept
of the Chain of Being. The chain itself is a hierarchy linking all of God s creations, starting at the
top of the chain with God, then the angels, then the Monarch, who is viewed as God s

Innovative Process Paper
Innovation Process In this current state of the economy, it is important for businesses to make
the necessary changes to stay in business and also remain competitive. With this being said,
companies like the United States Postal Service must make the strides necessary to stay in the
mailing business to compete with the likes of Fed EX and UPS. Throughout the course of this
paper, we will identify and discuss the four basic phases of the innovative process and how we
will apply the innovative process to change the USPS. We will also identify the appropriate tools
and techniques to be used in this process, explain why they were selected, and finally discuss how
we will measure our results and what steps the USPS will take to ensure... Show more content on

In the USPS the innovative phase has helped combat the competition of other parcel services and
the internet. The imaginative phase complements the innovative process because some of the ideas
are developed from the problem solving and the artistic way of thinking. The inspirational phase
benefits the USPS by satisfying the customers with the best parcel service to the public. With the
combination of all four phases, the USPS is able to develop new and better services to the public
and compete with other companies in the market.
Tools and Techniques Used in This Process
As a result of declining flats volume, USPS Operations is performing capacity reviews of phase
one sites in order to determine what impact the decline has on planned FSS deployments. The team
has updated site specific models with 2008 volume information to measure the impact. Though all
deployed unit sites are sized appropriately, this due diligence effort continues with a deeper analysis
of trend and implementation data. There has been no decision on repositioning of any FSS units at
this time but they are keeping their thumbs on the pulse of flats volume trends and have
implemented quarterly reviews to ensure they have the right number of machines in the right
locations. As the economy declines, so does mail volume. And that affects carrier routes. As part of
USPS efforts to tighten costs across the organization, it is working to make route adjustments that
reflect the current economic

The Role Of Self-Authorship In Revenge Of The Nerds
College is a time of transformation for students as they adapt to new environments and
expectations. It is also a time of increased freedom, where students learn more about themselves
and who they are as people. Baxter Magolda s Theory of Self authorship deals with the journey of
a person as they define themselves and move from external to internal definition. In the movie,
Revenge of the Nerds, many of the characters move through this journey of selfauthorship. In this
paper, we will focus on one of the characters in the movie, and show how he frees himself from the
constraints of external definition. We will begin with a brief summary of the movie, and then focus
on how Magolda s theory applies to the film.
Revenge of the Nerds is focuses on two best friends, Gilbert and Lewis, who are freshman at Adams

In this phase, individuals ground themselves in an internally defined belief system and gain a
deep understanding of themselves (Evans, et al., 2010). Along with this understanding comes
feelings of strength that emanate from a pride for who they are; they are aware of external
pressures, but do not give into them (Evans, et al., 2010). After defeating the jocks in the
competition, the nerd house was completely destroyed. Lewis wants to give up, but Gilbert is
infuriated and wants to keep fighting. He disregards external opposition and goes to the pep rally
to confront the jocks. He makes a speech declaring that he is a nerd and proud. It is clear at this
point in the movie that Gilbert has moved from trying to fit external expectations, to embracing an
internal form of self definition. He realizes who he is and embraces that identity, defending it
against opposition from the jocks. Thus, Gilbert completes Magolda s path of

The Hobbit And Divergent Comparison
Comparative Essay
Even though each book has a different story, they all have things in common. The structures of The
Hobbit By: J. R. R. Tolkien and Divergent By: Veronica Roth have similar themes, but differ in
narration and genre. This creates their different and unique styles and meanings.
The Hobbit is a saga with different stories within each chapter. It gives the sense of adventure and
fantasy that draws the reader in. There are dwarves, trolls, and hobbits that carries your mind off
to a land different from your own. Tolkien use the narrator as an omnipresent third party. Through
this we are able to see every action and have a better understanding of the plot. The Hobbit displays
that we should leave our comfort zone sometimes and discovery ourselves.
Divergent is a story about a dystopian Chicago entering into a rebellious society. This genre has
become a popular category for today s reader. Some even say that this story is basically the same
as other compositions that have appeared in recent years. We get to know the main character in a
personal way because she is the narrator. The character shows us her personality and awareness.

Why The French Revolutionaries View The Months Of The...
In 1793, the National Convention in Paris created a new calendar for the French republic. The
new calendar renamed the months of the Gregorian calendar and rearranged them so that each
month contained three weeks of ten days each; at the end of each year there were five days of
festivals dedicated to virtue, intelligence, labor, opinion, and rewards. This calendar was kept in
place until 1806 when it was abolished by Napoleon. The National Convention and other republican
groups cited many reasons for the adoption of a new calendar, including ridding the republic of the
old regime and implementing a more reasonable system. Although the revolutionaries viewed the
calendar as an improvement, others were quick to point out its flaws. Among the

What Is Henry Knox s Role In The Civil War
Henry Knox was a military officer of the Continental Army. He was born and raised in Boston,
Massachusetts. Henry owned and operated a bookstore there, cultivating an interest in military

Washington. After that he quickly rose to become the chief artillery officer of the Continental Army

In this role he accompanied Washington on most of his campaigns. He also had some involvement
in many major actions of the war. Henry set up training centers for artillerymen and manufacturing
facilities for weaponry that were valuable assets.

Your associates delivered beyond expectations, and she ended up returning the product to your
competitor and purchasing from you because of it. So I visited your store while I was in town
(Cumming, GA). I m impressed with the store layout, the service, and the quality of retailing, in
general. And being an outdoor/sports enthusiast, the positive experience resonated with me. I did
more research after returning to the Raleigh area, and I m excited to learn that you re opening a
store nearby.
ABOUT MY RESUME
I have enormous respect for tradition, but occasionally it creates barriers to success. For example,
recapping 20+ years of responsibilities, achievements, purposeful skill development, and complex
contributions in two pages doesn t do justice to recruiters, hiring managers, employers, or people
changing careers. And Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) add more restrictions and nuances to the
process.
The resume I ve submitted attempts to summarize my most relevant experience based on the job
description, but the chances are good that you ll be looking for things that didn t make the cut. Rest
assured, if it s related to retail, leadership, management, general business acumen, operations,
training, communications, sales, or customer service, I probably have in depth experience. But
even if I don t, I ll figure it out quickly, guaranteed.
WHY ME?
My resume just covers the highlights.

Benefits Of Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmos ) Essay
Life on earth began approximately 3.5 billion years ago and, since the rapid diversification of
most major living phyla (known as The Cambrian Explosion), evolution has given rise to an
extraordinarily diverse range of life forms. Evolution has resulted in various species with a wide
range of traits, each with the potential to be utilized by human kind. By modifying these organisms
through cross breeding and artificial selection to create crops with desirable traits, the agriculture
industry has found a way to produce essential food crops and a way to feed the world .
In the 1970s, Morrow et al. developed a technique that allowed them to cut DNA from one
organism and splice it with the DNA of another and thus modern biotechnology was born. Today,
it is possible to sidestep the relatively slow process of evolution by modifying genes of plants and
animals in the lab. Presently, such modifications allow for pest and herbicide resistance; faster crop
production; more nutritious food sources; and even disease resistance .
Despite these purported benefits of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), there is
considerable debate surrounding their use. In the public sphere, beliefs concerning GMO tend to
be dominated by two markedly opposing narratives and it seems that one can only be in one of two
camps:
I.Critics of GMO: Arguing that the use of GMO is not justified as it is unnatural, unsafe, and may
have long term environmental impacts.
II.Advocates of GMO: Arguing that

Causes of the Downfall of Mughal Empire
CAUSES OF THE DOWNFALL OF MUGHAL EMPIRE BACKGROUND The downfall of the
mughal empire can be attributed to two major factors: 1) Weaknesses of the mughals 2) Strength
of the East India Company. The Mughal Empire, which had reached its zenith during the rule of
Shah Jahan and his son, began to decline after the rule of Aurangzeb. In fact, the decline began
during the last days of Aurangzeb. The Mughal Empire reached its greatest extent in the time of
Aurangzeb Alamgir, but it collapsed with dramatic suddenness within a few decades after his
death. The Mughal Empire owes its decline and ultimate downfall to a combination of factors. The

Absence of navy: The Mughals had no navy and only maintained small ships that were no match
for the well equipped ships of the foreign traders. It was this weakness that the French and the
British used to their advantage, and were eventually able to establish their control over India.
Rise of New Powers: New powers such as the Sikhs, Jats and Marathas came onto the scene.
Gradually they broke off from the Mughal domination and established their own independent
states. Foreign Invasions: The invasions of Nadir Shah and Ahmad Shah Abdali proved fatal for
the Mughal Empire. Not only were the Indians defeated but their weakness was exposed and
India became as easy prey to other foreign powers too.The weakened Mughal Empire invited
havoc in the form of the Persian king Nadir Shah, in 1738 39. On his orders a general massacre of
the citizens of Delhi was carried out, resulting in the death of 30,000 people. Another threat to the
Mughal Empire came from the Afghans of Rohilkhand, lying northeast of Delhi. By the middle of
18th century, the Rohillas became independent of the Mughal rule. At the same time the Jats also
raised their heads against the central rule. Punjab: Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru, had
organized the Sikhs into a military force. After his death, his disciple Banda Bahadur carried on his

Analysis Of Rosa Parks And The Civil Rights
On December 1, 1955, Ms. Rosa Parks, a 42 year old African American woman who worked as a
seamstress, boarded a Montgomery, Alabama city bus to go home from work. She sat near the
middle of the bus, right behind the seats reserved for whites. Soon all of the seats in the bus were
filled. When a white man entered the bus, the driver followed the standard practice of segregation
and insisted that all four Blacks sitting just behind the white section give up their seats so that the
man could sit there. Ms. Parks quietly refused to give up her seat and move to the back of the bus.
This story is a familiar one, retold over and over as a symbol of the civil rights. There are dozens
of books about Rosa Parks that have been published, many of them for children. Literature written
for and about African Americanchildren can now be found on many bookstore shelves and in public
and school libraries throughout the United States, and the characters in these books are often
historical figures like Rosa Parks. Others reach back to the arrival of the African in America and to
the continuous struggle and development of African Americans that is evident even today. Some
books reach even further back, taking child readers to the continent of Africa before there was an
America. The stories of these characters also display the different regions, class levels, and family
structures of African Americans.
Literature written for children and young adults can be used as one of the strategies

Comparing Story Of An Hour And The Interlopers
You might be wondering why exactly I chose to compare The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin
and The Interlopers by Saki. Although when you first look at them both, you could hardly say they
have any comparisons. After all, they re both about completely different subjects! But when you go
a bit deeper, you ll realize that there actually are a few.
The first similarity that I found was that both short stories have two main characters that are both
struggling with each other. In The Interlopers, it s Georg and Ulrich. Their two families are
struggling together in a rather violent way, but this will be explained a bit later. In The Story of an
Hour, Mrs. Mallard is the main character, and her sister, Josephine. This is a bit more difficult to
determine the main characters, as her husband is not mentioned frequently in the story, but he is a
main problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

she loved her husband, but he d been so protective of her, so she was unhappy. When Josephine,

Now she must be free. In the end, though, none of the characters got their wishes. Georg and
Ulrich decided that their was no point in hating for no apparent reason, and became friends. Mrs.

Edward Hopper Painted The Night Hawks
In 1942, American artist Edward Hopper painted The Night Hawks. This oil painting, is a 33 1
/8th in. x 60 in. piece. Hopper used oil paint on canvas, to create this piece. Currently this piece is
located at the Art Institute of Chicago. In The Night Hawks, a city diner is depicted sometime
at night. The buildings and diner design, are consistent with a city setting. Within the diner, there
are 4 people present. Three of these people appear to be customers, while the other is working at
the diner. There are three men present in the picture, and one woman. Due to the clothes they are
wearing, we know that this diner is set sometime before 1960. After looking at the painting, I
believe that this is either an exact depiction of a real life diner, or the painting was inspired by a
real life diner. Within this painting, there are many different elements of design that Hopper uses
to create this scene. The first element of design within this painting is, the use of light and
shadows. Hopper uses light and shadows, to create the visual of nighttime within the painting.
Within the restaurant, very bright colors are used to create the walls. Using light colors in this
way, makes it appear as if the walls of the diner are reflecting light. In addition, the countertop
within the diner appears to be glossy, and has reflections in it. This effect also aids in making the
illusion of light within the diner. Outside of the dinner, light can be seen on the buildings across the
street. This

Elie Wiesel s Night Essays
Night
In Night, by Elie Wiesel, there is an underlying theme of anger. Anger not directed where it
seems most appropriate at the Nazis but rather a deeper, inbred anger directed towards God.
Having once been a role model of everything a good Jew should be, Wiesel slowly transforms into
a faithless human being. He cannot comprehend why the God who is supposed to love and care
for His people would refuse to protect them from the Germans. This anger grows as Wiesel does and
is a constant theme throughout the book.
Early in Night, Elie Wiesel begins to express doubt about his faith. Some talked of God, of his
mysterious ways, ...and of their future deliverance. But I had ceased to pray. How I sympathized
with Job! I did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What does Your greatness mean, Lord of the universe, in the face of all this weakness, this
decomposition, and this decay? Why do You still trouble their sick minds, their crippled bodies?
(63)
In this passage Wiesel has become more overtly angry with God. He no longer hides behind the
reverence he has grown up knowing. Rather he is openly charging God with not only the
destruction of the Jewish people, but also with continually plaguing their thoughts. Having the
false hope that God may one day save them seems like a cruel joke. Wiesel seems to be saying that
if God has already decided not to save them, than the least He can do is quit allowing the people to
pray to and follow Him.
Wiesel also seems angry at the thought of comparing God s infinite greatness with the complete
disintegration of the people in the concentration camps. Thinking about God s power and strength
seems impossible when the only people surrounding Wiesel who are in positions of power are the
enemy. It seems almost morbidly amusing that the Jews are relying on this Savior who allows such
horrible conditions to continue. If he is so wonderful, why does he not save them?
Later in Night, Wiesel starts to believe that he has become a stranger among his own people and
religion. He no longer feels any spiritual connection with the other Jewish people.

in research differs among the different countries. The fruit fly and nematode are the most used
animal in testing. However, the most common mammals used in animal research are mice and rats.
Shaved albino rabbits and guinea pigs suffer severe testing for skin irritancy and eye irritancy.
Though the usage of non human primates are outlawed in some countries, the U.S. still finds the
need to use them. The U.S. government uses tax dollars for testing pesticides and flourine products
on animals.

These small rodents are easy to handle and raise, thus used in large proportions. Mice and rats can
be tested for various results. Since mice share ninety nine percent of their genes with humans,
believe it or not, they are considered the ?prime model of inherited human disease?. In addition to
genetics, rats and mice are used to understand how different organisms interact with each other in
the same environment. (Wikipedia) They are used for the study of human cancers and testing of
new treatments because of its immunodeficiency status, allowing human tumors to be grafted on
without rejection. (UCCA) Some rats are even used for studies of brain function, commonly
memory and social behavior. The safety of drugs, vaccines, chemicals, and products are also tested
on mice. (Wikipedia)
Though rats may seem like the most popular lab animal, the most animals used in testing are
actually invertebrates, especially the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, and the nematode,
Caeharbabditis elegans. These, like rats, are very cost efficient and can be studied in a large
number. Their short life cycle also makes it convenient for genetic studies. Many invertebrate
species are not protected under animal research legislation, so the number of invertebrates used in
research is unknown. (Wikipedia)

Bruce Jenkins Summary
The article written by Bruce Jenkins starts off by saying that the regular season of the Warriors
was a bumbling mess . This article was written to be read generally by the people of San
Francisco and Warriors fans. The Warriors went from a historic 73 9 record in the 2016 season,
to a 67 15 record in the 2017 season, and a recent 58 24 record in the 2018 season. At the
beginning of the article, Bruce talks about factors that have led to the teams bumpy season like
not having a reliable center. He says that the team has reached a point to where the team s centers
are not feared by any postseason opponent. Towards the end of the article, Bruce talks about the
future of the team and things to consider. He talks about possible matchups and how the team isn t
ready defensively to play, even if Stephen Curry is on the court. With the article discussing the
Warriors downward spiral, the article uses the devices of ethos, logos, and pathos.... Show more

This article uses ethos in a couple of ways. One way is the credibility of the writer. Bruce
Jenkins has written for the San Francisco Chronicle since 1973, and has been a sports columnist
since 1989. He has covered many major events in sports, and has even earned awards and
recognition for his work. The credibility of the author ensures the reader that the writer is a good
source of information and can be trusted. Another way this article uses ethos is through facts. In the
article, Bruce states that the team s defense has been non existent for the last 10 games and that the
team s record is 7 10 since Stephen Curry has gotten another ankle

First Destination Transportation ( Fdt )
First Destination Transportation (FDT), the movement of material from suppliers to the first
military depot or direct to military customer, is about to change from FOB destination to FOB
origin. Slated to begin with solicitations and awards in late October 2013, FDT requires the
removal of transportation related cost from contractor bids. Contractors need only be concerned
with quoting the associated costs of manufacturing their products. Products affected by the October
roll out will be those labeled as Class IX consumables and some Class IV and VII materials to
CONUS destinations. Supply Chains included in the FDT initiative are: Aviation, Land and
Maritime, Construction and Equipment, and Industrial Hardware. Then you also have Second
Destination Transportation (SDT). This is where the cost comes into play to ship Army Post Office
mail, transportation of organizational equipment, permanent change of station, temporary duty cost,
depot maintenance, and any cost that is not funded through FDT. Once these items, equipment, or
other materials that have been contracted and sent to the first destination and the items need to be
moved to another location SDT picks up that bill. (Defense Logistics Agency, 2014) The Packaging
Division Close Combat Systems Branch Pyrotechnics Team distinguished itself by mounting a safe,
reliable, and consistent packaging solution for handling and transporting required pyrotechnics
issued during training rotations at the U.S. Army National

The Role Of Identity In S. Morgenstern s The Princess Bride
What if? A question that many people find themselves asking. What if someone read Lord of The
Rings instead of Harry Potter? Would they be attempting to learn Elvish instead of learning magic
spells? In life, there are choices that have to be made. One or the other. The same applies to
literature. For example, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern. Readers of this novel may begin
to ask themselves this very question. What if Westley did not reveal his identity to Buttercup
when he fell down the ravine? How would this affect the remainder of the story? There are so
many different ways that the story could have gone if the author had changed when Westley
revealed his true identity. There are so many times and places where it would be logical for him to
uncover his disguise, but it is up to the imagination to decide on the best way. S. Morgenstern in his
work, The Princess Bride, demonstrates the ability to change by allowing the reader to modify
his story with their own creative thoughts. In order to have several different outcomes to the
story, someone must first take out the original written portion where Westley reveals his identity
to Buttercup. After someone mentally erases everything that happened after Westley fell down
the ravine, they can now think of all of the different possible outcomes. In the text, it states,
Words followed her. Whispered from far, weak and warm and familiar. As... you... wish...(185).
This is the original point in which he shows her his true identity. Now, what if he had fallen
down the steep hill and said nothing? Based on Buttercup s instinct for survival and her
powerful characteristics, one could assume that as soon as her attacker was no longer able to
harm her, she would try her best to find her way back to safety. She made no effort to not
consistently explain to all four of her assailants that her Prince would find and save her no matter
how long it took, and knowing this, one would assume that she would wait for her Prince as long
as she needed to. However, the main plot of the story revolves around murder and suicide, so
Buttercup would either die from suicide, or be murdered by Prince Humperdinckon their wedding
night depending on what horrible

Cadillac Research Paper
History of The Cadillac
Cadillac is a name known worldwide, and is valued across the world by many car enthusiasts.
Cadillac has been one of the top leaders in luxury vehicles since its start in 1902. Over its 114
year existence, the brand has put out many luxury cars that are top of the line to this day. These
models include the Escalade, and the CT6. Cadillac is one of the most unique luxury car brands, as
it one of the only luxury brands that are produced in the United States. So given this background
information, one would have to assume that the Cadillac brand has a substantial amount of history,
so I present to you... The History Of Cadillac.
On August 22, 1902, Cadillac was founded in Detroit Michigan by the infamous pair of Henry Ford

According to conceptcarz.com, the Runabout AND Tonneau both ran on a single cylinder engine
that ran on only about 6.5 horsepower, but could likely go up to 10 horsepower. At the time, the
engine that Cadillac ran on was nicknamed The Little Hercules About 2,400 models of the
Runabout and Tonneau were sold in 1903, giving Cadillac a very good start in the automobile
industry. I think the reason for Cadillac s huge early success was that the car was truly one of a
kind. It came with the newest technology of it s age, and offered a look and feel of luxury like
no other car on the market could ve possibly offered. According to the Runabout and Tonneau
official Wikipedia page, the one cylinder engine that Cadillac produced for the two debut models
were only offered from 1903 1908. This is interesting because 1908 was still before the first
Chevrolet was made. So just think about this, Cadillac was already moving on from single
cylinder engines while Chevrolet still hadn t been founded or produced their debut vehicle. To me
that is just insane, considering the fact that Chevrolet who is owned by General Motors are now
partners, and basically own the Cadillac brand! Oh how the roles have flipped over the

Carl Sauer, an American geographer, was one of the first scholars to note Asia as a source for the genesis of agriculture: some of the earliest domesticated plants were found in Asia. The earliest pottery also appeared more than 12,000 years ago Jomon huntergatherers in Japan . Yet Asia s uniqueness does not make it incomparable to developments elsewhere in the Old and New Worlds; understanding Asia s ancient histories is important for the elaboration of developments across the Eurasian continent. Most Koreans (both Northerners and Southerners) believe that their people came from a first ancestor, Tangun, who was brought to the world by a female bear and Hwantung, the son of heaven; and the recent discovery of the eighty six bone fragments in that date to 5001 B.P. in Pyongyang (alleged to be those of Tan gun and his queen) united and strengthened the Koreans belief of their ethnogenesis. • 5. Visual Effects And Its Effects On Modern Films Visual Effects Pipelines The film making process in modern films is a lot more complex than it has ever been. Even the simplest of films require a large amount of crew and equipment, but none of these processes has advanced the state of cinema as visual effects has. It says a lot that the highest grossing films of all time are heavily driven by visual effects, one can infer that visual effects are now a major part of storytelling. The majority of films contain visual effects, even when you don t realize it. Are the actors driving down the highway? Is there a window in the scene? • 6. Love For England And Lucy By William Wordsworth Before the Lyrical Ballad was published, William Wordsworth spent time in Germany away from England. During this time, he composed a set of poems that would eventually be known as the Lucy Poems . This set of poems would make their way into the first edition of the Lyrical Ballad. All of them, except for one. Out of the five poems he writes, I travell d among unknown Men wouldn t appear in the Lyrical Ballad alongside the other four Lucy Poems (Locke, 44). This particular poem, compared to the rest, is the most iconic poem for showing Wordsworth s lovefor England and Lucy . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that Wordsworth puts In Lands beyond the Sea in his poem signifies that during the creation of this poem he was, at one point, away from his home. In this case that place was Germany. Wordsworth also does this in order to connect to the audience on a deeper level of thought. For those who have been through a similar situation as Wordsworth, they would feel the presence of walking among unknown Men more noticeably than others. This stanza ties in with the following stanza, Nor, England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee (lines 3 4), to make the primary message of his poem clear: Wordsworth, during his time in Germany, is realizing how much he loves England. Because he has stayed away from England for a long period of time he begins to realize how much he loves it. Wordsworth loves it so much so that he states that, once he returns to England, he will never leave England again (line 6). The reasoning, however, is not because he despises Germany or loves the country of England in its entirety. Rather, it is because of the unknown figure of Lucy who is also a separate focus in this poem. Wordsworth makes the connection between Lucy and England by expressing how his feelings of joy and desire of England came from her presence. She is introduced into the poem at line 11 and 12 in which she turned her wheel beside and English Fire and is confirmed to be Lucy at lines 15 and 16 in which she saw a green field ... • 8. Case Study On Gross National Happiness In Bhutan Case study: Gross National Happiness in Bhutan Abstract As a society we care about what we measure, we use what we measure, and what we measure drives policies and society in a particular direction. We therefore need to measure progress correctly. If societies blindly accept GDP as their measure of progress, they might be trying to maximize the wrong indicator for society. Bhutan as a living example of a society that has opened a national dialogue about what progress means, and they have created the Gross National Happiness (GNH) index to reflect their understanding of progress. Furthermore, the political and economic architecture of Bhutan is structured around maximizing GNH rather than GDP. We can draw a number of lessons from the Bhutanese experiment, namely that each individual society should strive to answer the following three What does progress mean? How do we develop indicators that measure progress? How de we use indicators to shape policies and institutions? All societies seek to create wellbeing for individuals. The question is not whether societies desire welfare or not. The fundamental questions are: what does wellbeing mean? How do we measure it? And how do we organize society and its institutions... • 13. Analysis Of The Woman Hollering Creek In the Woman Hollering Creek, Sandra Cisneros makes use of several short stories to expose the Mexican culture destined gender roles inequalities against women. From an utterly young age, most Mexican girls are endangered to take the household responsibilities as their core duty. Once they reach adolescence, they imperiled to think about marriage as the unrivaled way for them to leave their parent s support. I argue that the Mexican culture through the medium of tradition and media are assembling a society in which woman, from the moment they are born, bear a life of parental and marital submission. Moreover, in the Woman Hollering Creek, Cisneros exposes the story of Cleofilas Hernandez. Cisneros unveils parental submission in Cleofilas life on the first page. Cisneros writes, The day Don Serafin gave Juan Pedro Martinez Sanchez permission to take Cleofilas Enriqueta DeLeon Hernandez as his bride... (Cisneros 43). This is significant because it emphasizes the power Don Serafin has over Cleofilas life, he is in power to directly decide whom she is going to marry by rejecting or accepting individual. Although, many would argue that rather giving Serafin Cleofilas is just following the tradition of asking the parents. Since her mother is deceased her father is the only option, nonetheless, the diction suggests that rather than Cleofilas asking for permission appears that Cleofilas is being given away. In this instance, her hand is not remotely mentioned thus laying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Originally, it was expected that these two prices would be tied together, and that the drop would be quite temporary. However, the longer that coal has been down, the more likely it looks like it is down for the count so to speak. Many analysts believe that there has been an over production of coal in the past decade and the market has been saturated as a result. With every passing month that coal s prices stay low, and the supplies keep growing, it becomes less likely that things will turn around for the better in a permanent manner. Even with the rest of the world playing catchup with the transition to zero carbon intensive energy sources, the U.S. coal exports have been extremely low. China, for instance, has imported less in recent years. At one point, they were helping to drive our export market. In response to the lower demand, many mining corporations have begun to optimize their operations. The sight method involves a process, that starts by introducing a word, then reading it out loud, then by spelling the word, and then lastly writing the word. It is perfectly ok to go through this method many times, just to make sure each student is comprehending and grasping what you are trying to teach. To teach this lesson, a teacher should have the word they are going to introduce on a notecard that the students will eventually, be able to read, spell, and write out. • 22. Similarities Between Ran And King Lear Despite contrasting contexts, a well developed understanding of the shared ideas between two texts has been achieved through comparative study. The play King Lear (1606) but William Shakespeare and the Japanese film adaptation Ran (1985) by Akira Kurosawa share similar values despite coming from different parts of the world, and being written in different time periods. The concept of Chaos highlights the need to respect the values of society, and Justice is used throughout both texts to explore morality and the consequences that one s actions possess. The theme of Chaos has been used within the play to reflect the societal values of Elizabethan England. King Lear was written just after Queen Elizabeth I s death in 1603, when King James I was crowned. King James quickly became an unpopular ruler, as he would not listen to other s opinions, and made very harsh decisions, similar to King Lear himself. How in one house, should many people under two commands hold amity? Tis hard, almost impossible. (Act 2 Scene 4) Regan is asking Lear how his knights and her servants can get along when they have two authority figures, using the chaos that Lear s knights have caused as an excuse to dismiss them and claim the last of Lear s power. This power struggle ties in with the Elizabethan concept of the Chain of Being. The chain itself is a hierarchy linking all of God s creations, starting at the top of the chain with God, then the angels, then the Monarch, who is viewed as God s ... It is also a time of increased freedom, where students learn more about themselves and who they are as people. Baxter Magolda s Theory of Self authorship deals with the journey of a person as they define themselves and move from external to internal definition. In the movie, Revenge of the Nerds, many of the characters move through this journey of selfauthorship. • 32. Benefits Of Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmos ) Essay Life on earth began approximately 3.5 billion years ago and, since the rapid diversification of most major living phyla (known as The Cambrian Explosion), evolution has given rise to an extraordinarily diverse range of life forms. Evolution has resulted in various species with a wide range of traits, each with the potential to be utilized by human kind. By modifying these organisms through cross breeding and artificial selection to create crops with desirable traits, the agriculture industry has found a way to produce essential food crops and a way to feed the world . In the 1970s, Morrow et al. developed a technique that allowed them to cut DNA from one organism and splice it with the DNA of another and thus modern biotechnology was born. Today, it is possible to sidestep the relatively slow process of evolution by modifying genes of plants and animals in the lab. Presently, such modifications allow for pest and herbicide resistance; faster crop production; more nutritious food sources; and even disease resistance . Despite these purported benefits of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), there is considerable debate surrounding their use. In the public sphere, beliefs concerning GMO tend to be dominated by two markedly opposing narratives and it seems that one can only be in one of two camps: I.Critics of GMO: Arguing that the use of GMO is not justified as it is unnatural, unsafe, and may have long term environmental impacts. Rise of New Powers: New powers such as the Sikhs, Jats and Marathas came onto the scene. Gradually they broke off from the Mughal domination and established their own independent states. Foreign Invasions: The invasions of Nadir Shah and Ahmad Shah Abdali proved fatal for the Mughal Empire. She sat near the middle of the bus, right behind the seats reserved for whites. Soon all of the seats in the bus were filled. When a white man entered the bus, the driver followed the standard practice of segregation and insisted that all four Blacks sitting just behind the white section give up their seats so that the man could sit there. Ms. Parks quietly refused to give up her seat and move to the back of the bus. This story is a familiar one, retold over and over as a symbol of the civil rights. Literature written for and about African Americanchildren can now be found on many bookstore shelves and in public and school libraries throughout the United States, and the characters in these books are often historical figures like Rosa Parks. Others reach back to the arrival of the African in America and to the continuous struggle and development of African Americans that is evident even today. Hopper used oil paint on canvas, to create this piece. Currently this piece is located at the Art Institute of Chicago. In The Night Hawks, a city diner is depicted sometime at night. The buildings and diner design, are consistent with a city setting. Within the diner, there are 4 people present. Three of these people appear to be customers, while the other is working at the diner. There are three men present in the picture, and one woman. Due to the clothes they are wearing, we know that this diner is set sometime before 1960. After looking at the painting, I believe that this is either an exact depiction of a real life diner, or the painting was inspired by a real life diner. Within this painting, there are many different elements of design that Hopper uses to create this scene. The first element of design within this painting is, the use of light and shadows. Hopper uses light and shadows, to create the visual of nighttime within the painting. Within the restaurant, very bright colors are used to create the walls. Using light colors in this way, makes it appear as if the walls of the diner are reflecting light. In addition, the countertop within the diner appears to be glossy, and has reflections in it. Rather he is openly charging God with not only the destruction of the Jewish people, but also with continually plaguing their thoughts. Having the false hope that God may one day save them seems like a cruel joke. Wiesel seems to be saying that if God has already decided not to save them, than the least He can do is quit allowing the people to pray to and follow Him. Wiesel also seems angry at the thought of comparing God s infinite greatness with the complete disintegration of the people in the concentration camps. Thinking about God s power and strength seems impossible when the only people surrounding Wiesel who are in positions of power are the enemy. It seems almost morbidly amusing that the Jews are relying on this Savior who allows such horrible conditions to continue. If he is so wonderful, why does he not save them? • 46. First Destination Transportation ( Fdt ) First Destination Transportation (FDT), the movement of material from suppliers to the first military depot or direct to military customer, is about to change from FOB destination to FOB origin. Slated to begin with solicitations and awards in late October 2013, FDT requires the removal of transportation related cost from contractor bids. Contractors need only be concerned with quoting the associated costs of manufacturing their products. Products affected by the October roll out will be those labeled as Class IX consumables and some Class IV and VII materials to CONUS destinations. Supply Chains included in the FDT initiative are: Aviation, Land and Maritime, Construction and Equipment, and Industrial Hardware. Then you also have Second Destination Transportation (SDT). This is where the cost comes into play to ship Army Post Office mail, transportation of organizational equipment, permanent change of station, temporary duty cost, depot maintenance, and any cost that is not funded through FDT. Once these items, equipment, or other materials that have been contracted and sent to the first destination and the items need to be moved to another location SDT picks up that bill. • 47. The Role Of Identity In S. Morgenstern s The Princess Bride What if? A question that many people find themselves asking. What if someone read Lord of The Rings instead of Harry Potter? Would they be attempting to learn Elvish instead of learning magic spells? In life, there are choices that have to be made. One or the other. The same applies to literature. For example, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern. Readers of this novel may begin to ask themselves this very question. What if Westley did not reveal his identity to Buttercup when he fell down the ravine? How would this affect the remainder of the story? There are so many different ways that the story could have gone if the author had changed when Westley revealed his true identity. There are so many times and places where it would be logical for him to uncover his disguise, but it is up to the imagination to decide on the best way. S. Morgenstern in his work, The Princess Bride, demonstrates the ability to change by allowing the reader to modify his story with their own creative thoughts. In order to have several different outcomes to the story, someone must first take out the original written portion where Westley reveals his identity to Buttercup. After someone mentally erases everything that happened after Westley fell down the ravine, they can now think of all of the different possible outcomes. In the text, it states, Words followed her. Whispered from far, weak and warm and familiar. As... you... wish...(185). This is the original point in which he shows her his true identity. Now, what if he had fallen down the steep hill and said nothing? Based on Buttercup s instinct for survival and her powerful characteristics, one could assume that as soon as her attacker was no longer able to harm her, she would try her best to find her way back to safety. She made no effort to not consistently explain to all four of her assailants that her Prince would find and save her no matter how long it took, and knowing this, one would assume that she would wait for her Prince as long as she needed to. However, the main plot of the story revolves around murder and suicide, so Buttercup would either die from suicide, or be murdered by Prince Humperdinckon their wedding night depending on what horrible ... According to conceptcarz.com, the Runabout AND Tonneau both ran on a single cylinder engine that ran on only about 6.5 horsepower, but could likely go up to 10 horsepower. At the time, the engine that Cadillac ran on was nicknamed The Little Hercules About 2,400 models of the Runabout and Tonneau were sold in 1903, giving Cadillac a very good start in the automobile industry. I think the reason for Cadillac s huge early success was that the car was truly one of a kind. It came with the newest technology of it s age, and offered a look and feel of luxury like no other car on the market could ve possibly offered. According to the Runabout and Tonneau official Wikipedia page, the one cylinder engine that Cadillac produced for the two debut models were only offered from 1903 1908. This is interesting because 1908 was still before the first Chevrolet was made. So just think about this, Cadillac was already moving on from single cylinder engines while Chevrolet still hadn t been founded or produced their debut vehicle. To me that is just insane, considering the fact that Chevrolet who is owned by General Motors are now partners, and basically own the Cadillac brand! Oh how the roles have flipped over the ...
