This week I only attended three days for block teaching. Monday was Columbus Day so the
school was closed and everyone had the day off. Friday I did not attend because it was fall break
for WIU so I decided to go home for the weekend. On Tuesday the students worked on Cornell
notes for several headings in their textbook. Then on Wednesday I taught my first lessonon the
battles of Lexington and Concord. The students analyzed two primary source documents then as
a class we discussed their similarities and differences. The lesson went well despite the fact that
two thirds of the class was missing due to state testing. The fact that majority of the class made
me worried for the lesson I prepared for the following day because the two lessons were designed
to match up. However, I was pleasantly surprised that Thursday s lesson went as smoothly as it
did. The students stayed on task and were focused so I did not have really any issues with
classroom management. Since this week was short and I taught two out of the three days I was

My Attitudes Towards The Elderly
Society as whole has many false beliefs and preconceived notions about the aging population. I
myself have harboured dozens of them throughout my lifetime. However, there are a select few
that have stood the test of time as they continue to guide my attitudes towards the elderly.
Though one of the oldest stereotypes in the book, I unfortunately see the elderly as being a
generally unhappy (grumpy) group. I rationalize to myself that they are this way due to

It was a vernal early summer day in 2010, back in my high school classroom in China. I was
doing a presentation on the 52nd Grammy Awards for my English class project, with the playback
of the show on the projector. The entire class devotedly enjoyed the flamboyant Lady Gaga, the
patriotic 21 Guns by Green Day, the elegant BeyoncГ©, and the astounding whirling performance
by Pink. The performances on the Grammy s were intense, until a quiescent and soothing piano
prelude gradually emerged. The intro did not sound as intense as pop or rock music, neither did it
sound like country music in any sense. I was astonished, since virtually all the English songs I had
heard of were pop, except for those country songs from the youthful Taylor Swift. The
impressionable prelude was definitely a novelty for me, an ordinary high school student in China,

The vocal and harmony in the song sounded both familiar and fresh, with a hint of rock embedded
