The Battle Of The Soldiers
The three Soldiers were able to make it to the coast, they had taken a route that took them around the
Marines and 82nd Airborne, while making note of their numbers, vehicles and weapons. They were
surprised to find them there, with Second Brigade no place in sight. They entered Baltimore from the
north and headed South East, they found much of the city sparse with life, they had found some
civilians that had told them of the Supreme General and her Army and how they were defeated. The
Soldiers again, found themselves surprised, they were told stories of fighter aircraft coming out of
nowhere, and destroying the main base. They were also told of the mighty shells that came in and
destroyed the Supreme Generals compound. Following the aircraft and shells came the Marines,
fighting anyone that stood in their way, taking back the city. The people they spoke with told them not
to get them wrong, they were happy with the actions of the Marines, they cleared out most of the
gangs or ran them off. Life had been easier and safer since they came. They also told the three
Soldiers that several hundred Marines remained in the city and were securing the port and refineries.
That the Marines were being supplemented by the Army, they thought they heard the 82nd Airborne
out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It was all so incredible, than they were told of the ships off the
coast, one was an aircraft carrier, which the Soldiers found hard to believe. The civilians told them

Pyramus And Thisbe Vs. Romeo And Juliet

Pyramus Thisbe vs. Romeo Juliet
Tragic love stories have always been appealing to the literary world. This would be seen in Ovid s
Pyramus and Thisbe and William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet . Ovid, one of Rome s greatest
poets, was famous for The Metamorphoses. His love stories were deeply emotional, yet very tragic.
The story of Pyramus and Thisbe is the most emotional story in The Metamorphoses and the most
referenced in love tragedy. William Shakespeare s best plays were his tragedies, starting with Hamlet
all the way through to Macbeth. No one knows exactly which source Shakespeare directly drew from
to create the well known tragic romance, Romeo and Juliet , but it s pretty clear that somewhere along
the way there was some major influence from Pyramus and Thisbe. Both stories, although written in
different era share one key theme: love and tragedy. We fall in love and when once we do something
rare and beautiful is created. Unfortunately not all love stories have happy endings. The lesson learned
in both Pyramus and Thisbe and Romeo and Juliet stories will be the focus of this essay.
Pyramus and Thisbe were lovers whose houses side by side to each other. They were considered so
beautiful that If you searched all the East, you d find no girl with greater charm than Thisbe; and no
boy in Babylon was handsomer than Pyramus (Ovid 111). Overtime from living

Nightingale was conceived in Italy in 1820, however she experienced childhood in England. Not at all
like a considerable lot of the offspring of her time, she was taught by tutors and by her dad. Against
the desires of her family, she prepared to be a medical caretaker at the age of thirty one. In the midst of
colossal challenges and preferences, she composed and dealt with the nursing tend to a military doctor
s facility in Turkey amid the Crimean War. She came back to England after the war, where she set up a
school, the Nightingale Training School for Nurses, to prepare medical caretakers. Once more, she
experienced awesome resistance, as attendants were viewed as minimal more than housemaids by the
doctors of the time. Due to her endeavors, the status of attendants was raised to a regarded occupation,
and the premise for expert nursing by and large was established. Nightingale s commitments are
paramount. She perceived that nourishment is a critical piece of nursing consideration. She established
word related and recreational treatment for the wiped out and recognized the individual needs of the
patient and the part of the medical caretaker in addressing those requirements. Songbird set up

nursing a regarded occupation for women around the world.

Good And Evil In The Works Of Hawthorne And Poe
The works of Hawthorne and Poe have a lot of similarities such as being part of the dark romanticism
genre. Howthorne s tales that includes the Twice Told Tales and the Mosses from an Old Manse are
cautionary which describes the dark side of human qualities that includes guilt, sin and evil while Poe
s tale have themes associated with death and its other effects such as signs, decomposition, premature
burial reanimation and mourning which are found the Tell Tale Heart, the Bell and the Black Cat.
Reading their unfamiliar works gave me the conclusion that they are somehow expressing their
experience and their observation on the set up of humanity and how do people deal with evil and sin?
Of the two writers, I would say that the writings of

and cheaper for companies to produce what they produce on a faster past and on a daily basis
Description What is Robotics: robotics is a combination of engineering and science that includes
mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science. Robotics deals with the design
construction, operation, and use of robots, as well as computer systems for their control and sensory
feedback and information processing. these technologies are used to create machines that can replace
humans. Robots can be used in any situation and for any purpose as they have no feeling nor heart, but
today many are used in dangerous environments including bomb detection and de activation and in
war fields , manufacturing processes, or where humans life is at risk. Robots can take any shape and
look but some are made to look like humans in appearance and movement. This is said to help in the
acceptance of a robot in certain behaviors usually performed by people. such robots attempt to ...

The National Security Act Of 1947 Centralized Command And...
The National Security Act of 1947 centralized command and promoted intelligence sharing between
institutions by establishing a Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Director of Central
Intelligence, and NSC. The President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Army,
Secretary of the Navy, Secretary of the Air Force, and Chairman of the National Security Resources
Board composed the original statutory members of the NSC. The President was also authorized to
designate other specified officials to the NSC. The NSC staff, which is separate from the Council,
comprises politically appointed individuals and civil servants organized in specialized directorates.
The primary function of the NSC is to advise the President on domestic, foreign, and military policies
relating to the national security. The NSC acts as a coordinator between departments and agencies
across government, and relies on accurate and insightful reports from them to develop national
security policy recommendations for the President. The NSC is unique because it both consumes
intelligence to make recommendations to the President, and guides intelligence activities by
coordinating policies across government. In 1949, the NSC reorganized to incorporate the Vice
President, Secretary of the Treasury, and Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as remove the Secretaries of the
Army, Navy, and Air Force from the Council. President Harry Truman originally did not regularly

Theme Of The Signalman And The Signalman
In Gothic Literature, writers are able to choose between traditional and contemporary. This style of
writing typically relates back to fiction that gives an atmosphere of uncertainty by featuring horror,
death, curses or the supernatural. In The Signalman written by Charles Dickens, we can depict that his
writing falls under the category of traditional gothic literature as he chooses to stress the fear of the
unknown whether it be the setting or the supernatural. On the contrary, Roald Dahl who wrote Lamb
to the Slaughter chooses to write under the category of contemporary gothic literature, as we are
introduced to a familiar setting, and common issues that arise when we face reality. Nevertheless, both
stories choose to emphasize the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Dickens, the recurrence of insanity would make sense as his style of writing tends to include the
supernatural and the paranormal, however, for Dahl, the recurrence of insanity would come as a shock
to many since contemporary gothic literature includes more events that familiar and realistic. Dickens
characters insanity can be seen in the quote How your imagination misleads you because once the
Signalman saw the individual that appeared to him, his mind began racing with thoughts that seemed
to overwhelm him. He couldn t think straight as his mind was focused on figuring out what it was and
why it seemed to warn him, and this ultimately led to his demise. By zooming in on the word misleads
, it evidently shows us how he was involuntarily submerged with thoughts that drowned him and how
failing to control his sanity led to his downfall, and later, his death. Additionally, the quote May have
been infection in his mind similarly shows us how the appearance of the individual almost triggered
this thought that infected his mind and rid him of thoughts that were unperturbed. He thought that he
was seeing things, and not experiencing them, and because of that, he had a strenuous yet continuous
fight with his judgment and let it overcome him easily. By zooming into the word infection , we see
how inauspicious it is, it wasn t

Quantum Teleportation And Its Effect On Human Life
Since 1993, when the concept was first introduced by Bennett et al., numerous attempt have been
made to practically implement Quantum teleportation. Quantum teleportation was first demonstrated
with entangled photons[11] in 1997. Later, various developments have been achieved in laboratory,
including the demonstration of entanglement swapping[12], open destination teleportation[13] and
teleportation of two bit composite system[14]. Entanglement distribution has been shown with fiber
links[15 18]. In addition, practical quantum teleportation have been realized via fiber links[19, 20] and
limited to a distance of about one kilometer. Experiments have achieved free space distribution of
entangled photon pairs over distances of 600 m[21] and 13 km[22]. Later, entangled photons were
transmitted over 144 km[23, 24]. In these experiments, either only one photon was transmitted[23] or
the entangled photon pair was transferred together[24] using only a one link channel. Most recently,
following a modified scheme[25], quantum teleportation over a 16 km free space links was
demonstrated[26] with a single pair of entangled photons. However in this experiment, the unknown
quantum state must be prepared on one of the resource entangled qubits and therefore cannot be
presented independently.
Quantum cryptography, specifically Quantum key distribution is one important field where quantum
teleportation can be practically applied to provide completely secure information exchange between

Doing Business in Another Country
Executive Summary
In order to successfully introduce a product into a foreign market it is important to know the culture of
the country you plan to do business in. In order to introduce mobile handsets into a market like
Venezuela, the supplier must be well acclimated with the purchasing habits, tastes, and willingness to
purchase the product that is being sold. Understanding these things starts with building a knowledge
base about the major aspects of the culture and your target consumer. With this being said I am
providing a brief overview of the country of Venezuela.
Venezuela boasts a population of well over 27 million, and represents a large potential market for any
firm looking to do business within the country, because it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is very intriguing for a society that has a high unemployment rate. Most of Venezuela s
population finds itself educated because public education is provided. Even though education is free,
there is an astounding 20 % of the population that has received no formal education at all. This is
outrageous because Venezuela has a compulsory educational system, which means that people are
required to by law to go to attend school for 9 years. This shows that even though education is
provided for free there are still families so poverty stricken that they are not able to send their children
to school; because they need to work to provide more support for the families. The children that do go
through the public education system can attend Universities which are also free. Although the
education in Venezuela is provided for free, this is also a reason why the education system is not the
greatest. Providing education from grade school through college stretches educational funds thin,
which results in each level of education being under funded. It has already been established that the
majority of the people of Venezuela are literate. In this society there are jobs that require the certain
skills such as a lawyers, judges, politicians, or businessmen etc; but in the society as a whole basic
skills are being seen as all that is required for the average person. As mentioned earlier Venezuela is a
society that relies heavily on the production of

she was married to her husband Luke with a job and had her own financial backing. However, one day

The ways of Gilead were manipulative and controlling; they limited the amount of communication
with both the handmaids and citizens and used Angels, the police force and the eyes who were always
watching. Gilead painted a portrait of Christianity in a man made control mechanism to those in the
area. They were not aware of what was going on outside of Gilead and were trapped. We see in the
acts of punishment, as they hang men and women for their crimes encouraging others to watch and
display the dead bodies on the way that stands tall in the city. Their ways were also barbaric and
inhuman; as a horrific event occurred after the women celebrate, the joining of marriage for new
wives Aunt Lydia takes this opportunity to execute two handmaids and a wife. Moments after forming
a circle she announces to the crowd that two guardians were convicted of rape, but one was already
shot leaving this one for the handmaids. Adding fuel to the fire, she voices there were two handmaids
involved one being pregnant had lost the baby. They beat him to death without questioning
authoritative figures. Though we are unaware if the crimes those who were put to death were true or
falsified to fit the needs of the eyes or other government officials we just know that whatever they say
is perceived as true. It makes me wonder how much of this so called Christian inspired republic is
based on the bible and how much is based on man. Gilead used religion as a weapon to put fear in
their citizens and forced them to lose their identity. Through in ways

What Is The Difference Between Hinduism And Confucianism
Hinduism is a major religion in India as well as Nepal and a few other Asian countries. It has more
than 900 million followers throughout the world but interestingly, this religion has no single founder,
no single scripture and no single set of teachings that are uniformly believed and followed by all
Hindus. Hinduism is said to exist as a supreme being while both Buddhism and Confucianism are
based on the teachings of a man while Taoism revolves around a concept.1 (Kokemuller, J.) All of
them have similarities and differences to a great extent. Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism and it s
founder Gautama lived the life of a Hindu. Both religions share a few common features. Both
religions originated in the Asian sub continent, both religions believe in reincarnation and both believe
that there can be different paths taken to attain enlightenment. Both religions feel that we suffer from
our attachment to worldly things and people. Both religions believe in meditation and different forms

work towards unifying with the Tao which is the same as being unified with the world.2

1920-1930 Essay
1920 1930
The 1920 s are also known as the Roaring 20 s . It was the first modern decade experienced by this
country, as America flourished after WW I. The average number of hours worked per week dropped
from 60 hours to 48 hours (Rayburn). For the first time, people felt that it was just as important to play
as it was to work; family outings and weekend trips had become things that workers expected
(Rayburn). Women became more open by appearing in public smoking and drinking. Trojan condoms
first appeared and sex became an open issue for discussion.
During these years, Prohibition caused the rich and the common folk to come together in the name of

The German people felt discouraged about their defeat in the war and Adolph Hitler first arrived on
the scene. Great Britain also felt the effects of World War I. It suffered through a time of high
unemployment rates as well as the general strike that took place in 1926. As a result of the strike,
many businesses and services could no longer function (Rayburn News 1).
After World War I ended in 1919, many artists began to turn to Abstract Expressionism, while others
turned to the Surrealist aspect of art. Salvador Dali became the high priest of Surrealism and created
the disturbing world where the intangible became tangible (Spielvogel). Giorgio de Chirico, an Italian
painter was another artist who used Surrealism in his work. Man Ray, an American Surrealist, was
experimenting with a different kind of Surrealism. Instead of a paintbrush she used an airbrush.
Functionalism was used in architecture, meaning that these buildings were made with a specific
purpose in mind. Dadaism also became prevalent. These artists tried to create expression by creating
an anti art (Spielvogel). Not only was art changing, but sports and music were experiencing a

Apple Is A Company s Competitive Edge
Abstract
Apple is one of the largest and well recognized companies as far as technology is concerned. They
built a differentiation strategy that sets them apart from their competitors and allow them to sell their
products at a higher price while still appealing to a loyal target audience. They have also strive
themselves on building an ecosystems that keeps all of their products intertwined with one another and
this has proven to be successful for them because they have branched off into several different but
relevant markets. Although Apple is a very successful company, since Steve Jobs is no longer a part of
the equation, there are many questions concerning whether or not Tim Cook will be able to sustain the
company s competitive edge. In order to fully assess that it is important that we conduct a S.W.O.T

Julie Taymor’s Titus Andronicus Essay
Julie Taymor s Titus Andronicus
Shakespeare s first tragedy has been a topic of discussion since the day it was written. Titus
Andronicus was staged on 24 January 1594 by the Earl of Sussex s Men at the Rose Theatre (Welsh
1). Though this tidbit of information seems somewhat irrelevant to Titus, we must note that there are
certain standards and practices established by a play from its first performance. It is also important to
establish the general attributes that audiences attribute to Shakespearean performance.
One of the distinguishing factors in portraying Titus centers in its origin: Titus Andronicus [...] must
be considered as an experimental play (Bowers 118). Being Shakespeare s first attempt at tragedy, it ...

First of all, looking at the practical purpose of Shakespeare s work, we see that he was trying to
overcome the standard Kyd had set down with violence, found in works such as the Spanish Tragedy:
Titus Andronicus tried to surpass [Kyd] in the portrayal of blood and horrors (Bowers 109). Not only
did the violence serve as a practical means of marketing, but the emphasis and devotion to the
villainous character of Aaron extends the role of the villain (Bowers 274). For the first time we have
monologues of the villain developing if not at least trying to explain his motives. With this
development, Shakespeare further progressed his craft and simultaneously, gained stature for his
inclinations. The non practical explanation for Titus Andronicus violence is found within the
characters and the aspect of humanity their actions portray and mirror, if only in part, in all of us.
There is a foundational element in all of us that seeks revenge. For we need look only to [...] the
present decade [...] to see that Titus Andronicus is no period piece irrelevant to contemporary times
(Karten 1). Though the decade Karten speaks of is the 1990s. The present decade obviously rings true
with the events of September 11, and in my opinion, more so with the overall events of the American
involvement in the Middle East. We are not too far from revenge to not appreciate the message
Shakespeare presents in Titus Andronicus. T.S. Eliot may call

Symbolism In The Thief
The Thief and the Stalinist Period
As a movie depicting the Stalinist period, The Thief eloquently wrapped a historical and political
portrayal in an emotional journey of Sanya, Katya, and Tolyan. Some important aspects of the movie
that provide a strong nuance of the Stalinist era are the financial struggle among commoners, the
positive attitude towards Stalin, and the paternalistic emphasis. Additionally, some indirect symbolism
in the movie may portray the relationship between Stalin and Russians during the Stalinist period.
Financial struggle was the emphasis early in the movie, portraying how difficult life could be during
the Stalinist period. In the beginning of the movie, Katya gave birth to Sanya. While this might
symbolize the start of Sanya s story and life, the scene also signified how the lack of wealth made pain
and suffering dominate the life of the characters.
As the movie continued, this hardship seemed to permeate into the life ... Show more content on

Moving beyond the storyline, The Thief offered three main characters that could represent the Russian
society in the Stalinist period by through their images and attitudes. Aside from retelling a story of
fatherhood, The Thief indirectly symbolized the legacy of Stalin with its political failure and
destructive impacts (Gillespie 75).
To summarize, The Thief can symbolize Stalinist era in two ways. Using the values portrayed in the
movie, it showed the significance of financial struggle, Stalin s popularity, and paternalistic views
during the Stalinist period. Additionally, it can also represent the complicated relationship between
Stalin and the Russian people using the views and behaviors of its main characters: Tolyan, Sanya, and

The Little Mermaid Analysis
Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were written. They tell
us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in societies with rules dictated by
men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked stepmother or the consequences of just being
curious, one issue stays the same, the longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is
evident with just about any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and
show a strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaid and the movie
Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton.
The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this time in history,
women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was submissive; her job was to be a
meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is
clearly the case in this story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected
to abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are content with
living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden just like everyone else, but she
wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had always had an infatuation with the surface,
always longing for her 15th birthday when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world
of humans. Once she laid eyes on the human world and the handsome young prince, her desire to
break free from the social norm consumed her every thought.
Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos of California. It
took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws like the 1 100 crack/powder
disparity were being passed targeting black people disproportionally. Many cases of police brutality
and even mobs attacking and murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. This movie,
much like The Little Mermaid, is about the struggle of two males who are trying to break free from the
social norms imposed by society. The protagonist in this movie, Tre, moves to South Central, Los
Angeles to live

Analysis Of The Book Gates By Paul Andrews And Stephen...
Choice Book Essay Recently, I read the book Gates, how Microsoft s mogul reinvented an industry

of MS DOS, our ancient overlord. This book told the secret life of the ruler of the entire technology
industry all the way to present day. The main author is one of my favorites, since he wrote many
articles on PC world, and gave a somewhat honest review of Windows Vista, of course after Microsoft

1. We must have sufficient laws against these particular crimes. Our judicial system faces challenges

A Critique Of The Social Contract
A Critique of the Social Contract According To John Locke
Introduction
John Locke embedded his political ideas in the form of two treatises popularly known as Two
Treatises on Civil Government that he authored in 1690. In the first treatise, Locke disagrees with the
political and social philosophy of Robert Filmer in his work known as Patriacha, authored in 1654.
The second treatise contains Locke s viewpoint on political philosophy where he expounds the origin,
authority and the significance of a civil government. In addition, the treatise contains his view on the
state of nature, the social contract, political groupings, types of government and a citizen s right to
own private property.

In other words, human beings can be depended upon based on the fact that they are rational. Unlike
Hobbes, Locke believed that human beings are unselfish and social. It is only in exceptional cases that
some human beings are selfish, overly competitive and aggressive otherwise; most human beings are
able to rule themselves through the law of nature or through rational thinking. Human beings are born
free and are equal. The presence of reason in human beings ensures that they remain rational in their
dealings. This factor enables human beings to discover the right behavior as seen in their control of
emotions, anger, and expression of love among others. Instinctively, man desires to live in peace and
harmony with fellow men.
In regard to the state of nature, Locke contrasts Hobbes by asserting that there was law, order, peace
and private property. Political legitimacy and power is derived from the state of nature since according
to Locke, man has always lived in perfect equality and freedom where human beings order their
actions and use their property within the confines of the law of nature. However, the state of nature
does not imply misuse of liberty but using such liberty for the good of self

George Watsky s Leopards And Horseshoes
The role humans have in the food chain is determined by the choices we make. This is one of the
themes in George Watsky s leopards and Horseshoes . This poems is about many things one of the
major themes is embracing your contradictions and making choices that benefit life this essay will
focus on the poetic elements in this poem that compliment this theme. This poem uses elements of
short lines, rhymes, and personification to prove you should embrace your contradictions and that
humans affect the food chain not only with what we eat but the way we live.

Essay The Matthew Shepard Event
The Matthew Shepard Event
The human body is an object in which one lives and the medium through which one experiences
oneself and the world. The human body vests claims on ideology and space; and thus participates as
the site on which conflicts about belief systems and territory contest violently. Gay bodies become
entangled in violence when they enter into arenas that combat certain ideas. Gay bashing illustrates
incidences all in which bodies experience physical injury. In modern U.S. communities various
militant conservatives individually target homosexuals in gay bashing. Though few conservative
political groups explicitly avow targeting gays for physical violence, their members individually carry
out anti gay brutality. Mathew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically, the word panic originates from the Greek god Pan, who was noted for causing terror. Gay
panic implies that causing terror in violence is due to forgivable bouts of misjudgment. The defense s
language suggests a lack of both premeditation and cognitive participation brought about by the
unexpected fright. Sociologists use panic to refer to irrational group behaviors, such as those arising
from riot mentality. This statute barrows language from social science for the purpose of linking gay
bashing to an academically accepted explanation for seemingly illogical group behavior. Defense
attornies often argue that the victim s sexual advancement on the defendants who are already
extrememly insecure about their own heterosexual orientation gave their precarious sanity just enough
of a nudge to tip over and hence produce irrational violent behavior. The defense also assumes that
homosexuality is such a terror as to uproot even something so supposedly stable as heterosexuality. If
gay bashing is a symptom of a mental disease then the defendents must be suffering patients instead of
knowing criminals. By pathologizing gay bashing, the medical and social jargon legitimizes it through
institutional recognition.
To facilitate exploring a specific anti gay defense, I locate this statute within its homophobic political

Time To Rebuild; The Department of Defense Must be...
The Department of Defense takes up the majority of the US budget; it not only pulls in over a trillion
dollars of taxpayer money yearly, but it also is unable to accurately account for the exact whereabouts
of those funds year after year. The DoD does, of course, offer its own budget, however, due to the
byzantine and ineffective nature of the Federal Bureaucracy, it is impossible to verify if the money is
even so much as used for its intended purpose. Looking at this budget, two sections stand out as
bloated, which is a statement in a budget that is packed with Pork barrel spending: Procurement, and
Maintenance. Ultimately, should these two areas of the budget be reasonably downsized, and the
others thoroughly audited, the DoD s operating expenses could be reduced drastically, much to the
taxpayer s benefit. Procurement is, by far, the easiest section of the budget to pare down; a few simple
reforms in regards to the process by which government contracts are granted, coupled with the
elimination of several pork barrel programs, could save federal government millions of dollars. In
regards to contracts, all deals should be strictly held to the original price and time frame; While that
might seem like an obvious step, it is in fact a great leap forward for the DoD, where most programs
go over budget. A Poignant example of this is the F 35 fighter jet, which has cost taxpayers 100 billion
more than expected, and is 7 years behind on production. Further more, if regulations

Montgomery Bus Boycott
During the 1950 s African Americans were technically equal in the eyes of the law, but not to most of
the southern citizens. Segregation was a time of division between whites and African Americans in
regards to bathrooms, public amenities, schools etc. t all of the country was like this, the occupants
ofnorthern America were open and not as racist towards African Americans. In 1955, African
Americans obligated by Montgomery, Alabama, city ordinance to sit in the back city buses and to give
up their seats to white people ifthe front half ofthe bus was full. On December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks was

Constitution. The 14th amendment guarantees all citizens, regardless of race, equal rights and equal
protection under state and federal laws. The city appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld
the lower court s decision on December 20, 1956. Montgomery s buses were integrated on December
21, 1956, and the boycott ended. It had lasted 381 days. Even though in the eyes of the law the buses
were integrated and the issue had been dealt with, African Americans still had to go through adversity
and resistance from white people that usually resulted in violence. While the busses were integrated
the people of Montgomery, Alabama figured out a new way to discriminate against African
Americans, they retaliated with integrated bus stops and even violence. Occasionally snipers were
paid to fire into public busses at African Americans in order to kill them and send a message. In
January 1957, four black churches and the homes of prominent black leaders were bombed; a bomb at
King s house was defuseq. On January 30, 1957, the Montgomery police arrested seven bombers; all
were members of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group. The arrests largely brought an end to
the busing related violence. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a very important and vital part in the
civil rights movement for many reasons. First, it was the one of the first mass protests on civil rights in
the U.S. The Montgomery bus boycott set the stage for other large protests outside the court system to
bring fair treatment for African Americans. Second, Martin Luther King came up as a prominent
national leader of the civil rights movement while also.keeping true to his commitment to nonviolent
protest. Shortly after the boycott s end, he

The Replication Of DNA In Escherichia Coli
Introduction
Today s issue of Biology: Meselson and Stahl (Vol 4, 1958) includes a groundbreaking development
into further understanding of DNA Replication. On pages 671 682 is an article titled The Replication
of DNA in Escherichia Coli . Meselson and Stahl conducted an experiment to understand how DNA
self replicates by the use of Bacterial transformation to clone parental DNA.
In the article, Meselson and Stahl investigate the distribution between the parental and daughter DNA
molecules. This is achieved by the use of Radio Isotopic labelling. Uniform Isotopic N15 was grown
in E.coli consisting of N14 medium to observe the distribution of N15 DNA macromolecules. Within
the article, the authors also discuss the problems they faced during the investigation and how
significant Watsons and Cricks Double helix suggests how DNA self replicates.
What is DNA?
The discovery of the structure of DNA has always been associated with Watson and Crick. Their
double helix structure, which they developed in 1983, has been used as a model to understand how
DNA self replicates (Karp, 2009). The structure of DNA is made up of covalent bonds between 4
unique nucleotide bases. These bases bind together via complementary base pairing, therefore
allowing Adenine to only bind with Thymine, and Cytosine with Guanine (Penn State, Ebery College
of Science, 2016). The use of covalent bonds makes the structure strongly bound like a zipper.
However, just like a zipper, it can easily open up

Peter Paul Rubens Raising Of The Cross Essay
The piece that stood out to me the most from the readings was Peter Paul Rubens The Raising of the
Cross. I believe the piece is a culmination of influences from his predecessors and contemporaries and
religious works of the Baroque period. I also see this work in particular as a very obvious embodiment
of emotional realist art, though with its own original and unique interpretation of the art style. It is
apparent that the Carracci brothers Ceiling of Gallery inspired Rubens work. From studying their
work, Rubens learned anatomical accuracy and realistic physical representations of bodies. In Ruben s
painting, the bodies depicted are all realistic and anatomically probable, a stark contrast from early
humanist work which illustrated huge, heroic, near science defying bodies that were more akin to
mythology than actual beings. The figures in Rubens work are certainly idealized, with Christ being
very muscular himself, but there is also believability to their depictions. For example, the old woman
on the side mourning Christ s crucifixion is thoroughly detailed, and simply looks to be real, or
something we would perceive in day to day life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caravaggio was known for his realistic, dramatic, emotion evoking works, which is mirrored in
Rubens The Raising of the Cross. Rubens painting evokes a lot of emotions for the audience and
transcends classical art forms that simply evoked thoughts detached of emotion. Rubens also utilized a
technique that Caravaggio popularized: tenebrism. In the Raising of the Cross, all peripheral figures

Economic Variable: Russia s economy is largely based on the production of oil, natural gas and metals
like steel and aluminum. Swings in global prices on these exported goods make the economy
vulnerable to boom and bust cycles. Although Russia underwent a 2 year recession from 2014 to 2016,

overcoming the recession caused by the shocks of low oil prices and economic sanctions. The

Business Evaluation And Its Solution
Introduction:
Server virtualisation is a virtualisation technique, in which physical server gets partitioned into
multiple small, virtual servers with the help of virtualisation software. Each virtual server can run
multiple operating system instances at the same time. Virtualization helps you reduce capital spending
by server consolidation and reduce costs through automation, while minimizing lost access by
reducing both planned and unplanned downtime.
Business evaluation and its solution:
When running virtual applications on a machine, it helps in reducing the hardware and operating costs,
simplify it, the company Application Management. Complex virtual environments require new holistic
approaches to traditional IT services such as performance debugging, capacity planning, change
management and risk analysis.
Higher availability
One of the fundamental focal points of virtual servers is that they are totally isolated from each other,
running as if they depend on discrete fittings, which diminishes downtime amid upkeep periods. This
implies that changes could be made to one virtual server without influencing others having the same
equipment. This implies that support is possible in a creation environment without influencing
business and creating disturbances.
Cheaper implementation
Consider, for instance, the instance of the server base where as opposed to obtaining 5 Windows

Economies Of Scale Essay
5.6 Economies of scale
Economies of scale are a Micro economics concept. Economies of scale give a cost benefit to an
organization that produces goods in a very large scale. The cost per unit decreases as the production/
sales increases. This is because a firm may incur certain fixed cost which when apportioned to large
units volume decreases the unit cost of a product. The Table below better illustrates the concept.
Let s take an example of cool drink manufacturer.

Role of economies of scale in business strategy and competitive advantage:
One of the main sources for a firm to attain cost leadership advantage is through economies of scale.
There are many chances for a manufacturing unit to bring down its cost through large scale
production. Cost can be reduced through maximum utilization of the plant, machinery and
warehouses. Standardized products can be manufactured in large scale to bring down the cost of a
product. Usually when a firm enters in large scale production they cut down on the variations to the
models and concentrates on standardizing the product and marketing it across the globe.
A firm gets significant advantage through economies of scale when it has multinational operations.
The firm can set up its manufacturing units in low cost center and distribute its products across its
market. Though the market for the company s products can be worldwide, all the products can be
manufactured in one or fewer units in the places where the company has maximum of location
advantage and distributed across the

Cochlear Implant History
A cochlear implant is an electronic medical device that does the work of the damaged parts of the
cochlea, which is the inner ear, to provide sound signals to the brain. Cochlear implants were a major
breakthrough in history. There was now a way for people, who have had little or no benefit from
hearing aids, to receive sound. The cochlear implant, which was sometimes called a Bionic Ear could
help some people to hear again.
In 1972 the first single channel cochlear implant was introduced. This provided many deaf people
with better lip reading enhancement. In 1984, a multi channel cochlear implant was introduced. The
difference between the single channel and multi channel implant system was that the single channel
system only delivered sound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speech processor is like a computer, it is usually with the microphone behind the ear. The speech
processor analyzes the sound and sends it to the transmitter.
The transmitter is worn on the head just behind the ear, it sends coded signals to the implanted
receiver just under the skin. The receiver takes the coded electrical signals from the transmitter and
takes them to the electrodes which have been surgically implanted in the cochlea. These electrodes
then stimulate the auditory nerve and the sensation of sound in recognized.
Cochlear implants help provide a sense of sound to an individual who is deaf or hard of hearing. They
can help individuals who have hearing loss in both ears or in only one ear. The benefits from a
cochlear implant vary depending on whether the individual had hearing loss before or after developing
language, the individual s age, or the motivation of the individual.
Cochlear implants do not restore normal hearing, but they can help a deaf individual to have an
3
effective representation of sound and help the individual understand speech. Most of the time,
individuals tend to hear better with time and practice.
Some individuals have benefitted from cochlear implants and some have not. There

Over the last decade significant efforts have been made to improve pain control following TKA, but it
is still very challenging to get full optimal control with fewer adverse sides effects. Current modalities

The Book Of Genesis Is Submerged With Revelation
Introduction
The Book of Genesis is submerged with revelation(s) which shows similarities between the first
Adam(s) and the last Adam(s). Revelation is the knowledge which the owner of the land gives unto his
subjects to execute his purpose in the land, in his place, see John 16:7 16; As the first Adam is the son
of God, see Luke 3:38. The last Adam is God the Son, see Hebrews 1:8. Adam was given the
knowledge to execute the Father s purpose in the garden, this is a type of revelation, see Genesis 2:15
19. Adam is the prince of this word, he owns the land by inheritance, and obeys the will of the Father,
by operating in the spirit of revelation, see Genesis 2:17. When is, the inheritance given to Adam,
Genesis 1:26; says, let them have dominion over ALL the earth. The only thing that was greater than
Adam was God s word. God himself has now made himself subject to Adam decisions. In Genesis
2:17, Death here refers to dominion over principalities and powers, see Ephesians 1:19 23. When
Adam disobeyed, SIN entered the world, and DEATH gained dominion over the laws of Adam. Since
God was in Adam, DEATH separated Adam from the Father because of the new law in his spirit, see
Genesis 3:7 22. Adam was now born again, but to death. Thus, death entered the world and became
the new schoolmaster, see Romans 5:12. Subsequently, God removes himself from the body of man,
began his redemptive work, by reducing mans life to 120 years, see Genesis 6:3; and permitting the

Generation Gaps in Flannery s A Good Man is Hard to Find
The use of symbolism that emphasizes a major gap between the two generations, as well as religion,
theme, and imagery along with an intriguing story plot make Flannery s A Good Man is hard to Find
one of America s classic short stories. Imagery is widely used in O Connor s story, which makes the
characters and surroundings seem lifelike. In the depiction of the grandmother the reader can visual
see the woman sitting in the car waiting on the others to arrive. Her collar and cuffs were white
organdy trimmed with lace and at her neckline she had penned a purple spray of violets containing a

They both agreed that a good man is hard to find. The children and the ways of the grandmother
symbolized the division between the generations in the story. The children, June Star and John Wesley,
represent a new generation of unruly and disrespectful people. On the other hand, the grandmother
represents the strong, southern heritage and stubborn godly beliefs. The two conflict when they
discuss going to Tennessee rather than go to Florida, which is what the grandmother wants to do. June
Star, who can read the grandmother like a book, remarks after John Wesley told his grandmother to
stay at home if she did not want to go to Florida, She wouldn t stay at home for a million bucks.
Afraid she d miss something. She has to go everywhere we go. This is a prime example of the loss of
respect the children had for the grandmother. The grandmother does nothing but reply, Alright, Miss.
The generation gap creates a stir, but the outcome of the two coinciding might be positive. Religion is
a crucial point of the story. Coming to the end of the story, The Misfit and the grandmother are alone
together talking. The Misfit s responses to the grandmother s prayers advice reveal that these two
individuals are on two very different levels with concern to religion. The Misfit has a much deeper
understanding of religion and his belief system than does the grandmother. As the two continue in
conversion, the Misfit asks the grandmother if it seems right that Jesus was

Steroids In Sport Essay
In the world of sports it is not rare to see athletes give their heart and soul for the love of the game.
From sunrise to sundown they practice everyday to perfect their game. Then there are those who take
an alternative route. Now athletes are taking performance enhancers such as creatine, androstenedione
and worst of all, anabolic steroids.Steroids are chemicals that act like hormones (substances in your
body that regulate bodily functions). Anabolic steroids are the ones that are abused to build muscle
mass or to make your workout longer. They are chemicals of artificial testosterone, which is a male
hormone.
With higher testosterone you can have more physique and body hair and a deeper voice. It mainly

Its not only your appearance that could be at risk but you can also get other health problems. There are
coronary artery diseases, ligament injuries, high blood pressure, changes in your cholesterol level,
sterility, and liver disease. For males you can get breast development, kidney disease, headaches,
muscle cramps, abdominal pains, and bone pains.
For females you could get male patterned baldness, smaller breasts, deeper voices, hairy bodies and
menstrual irregularities. What I don t understand is why some take steroids to look better. Would you
be attracted to a woman who is just like one of the guys, literally? And girls, would you want someone
who has yellow skin with acne all over his face? I know I wouldn t.Physical problems are just the first
step, steroids also give you psychological problems.
This would be known as roid rage. When the user gets very angry and they could possibly swing
punches aggressively at anyone within striking distance. The other mental problem is addiction. Even
though the user has an already built body he or she thinks that steroids are still necessary to use so
they can perform better.
Some users also experience depression during parts of the cycles when taking the drug.Anabolic
steroids are illegal and are sold over the black market and there are different kinds. To name some
there are Erythropoietin, stimulants, clenbuterol and other drugs that are marketed as steroid
alternatives. Without a prescription steroids are

The Existence of God and the Meaning of Life Essay
Canadian author, W.O. Mitchell, is fascinated with the meaning of life. Whether this is a result of
growing up during the depression or simply indicative of Mitchell s deep philosophical thinking, this
theme constantly shows up in his work. In both his humorous drama, The Black Bonspiel of Wullie
MacCrimmon and the eloquent children s Canadian classic, Who has Seen the Wind, Mitchell tackles
the age old question with grace, humor, and care. Not only is Mitchell concerned with the minute
details of human existence, throughout his work, Mitchell constantly evokes a Canadian persona and
creates literature based on the country. Despite Wullie MacCrimmon being a Scottish character, the
drama itself is set in Canada during a curling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mitchell used the land of his birthplace, Weyburn, Saskatchewan, to place an unknown small prairie
town on a literary map. Butala concludes her article by stating, for many western fans, he was
someone who had lived as they did, who remembered their childhoods for them ... the sights and
sounds and smells of spring on the prairie, bringing to conscious awareness their joy and great good
fortune in being Prairie people. Who has Seen the Wind has become a cultural coming of age story for
western Canadians. W.P. Kinsella argues that, Who has Seen the Wind is the counterpart of The
Catcher in the Rye. It s the quintessential novel of growing up on the Prairies (Shermata 40) and
believes that Mitchell deserved a Governor General s Award for his literature.
While Who has Seen the Wind is an account created with love for the prairies, The Black Bonspiel of
Wullie MacCrimmon is a well written, humorous account of a curling match, also indicative of
Canadian culture. Alan Dilworth, a director of the play, states, it is so archetypically Canadian. There
is something about this that s even more social in the act itself. The chief concern of the drama is one
of religion, leading to a fascinating dissonance between Presbyterians and Methodists. This issue
regards immigrants of Canada of varying ethnic groups. Wullie, the protagonist, is a Presbyterian, as
his Scottish roots

How Does Walter Mitty Escape His Fantasies
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a short story by James Thurber, is a story of man who goes through
an ordinary life fantasizing about a secret life where everything is great for him. In his fantasies Walter
Mitty is everything he isn t in real life. Mitty uses these fantasies to forget the things he dislikes about
his reality. Walter s life isn t anything special and he goes into his fantasies to escape from the fact that
he is insecure/shy, he s being bossed around by his wife, and he can t do simple tasks. The first reason
why Walter Mitty escapes his fantasies is because he is not confident, or able to stand up for himself in
real world. For example in the text Mrs. Mitty asks Walter, Why don t you wear your gloves? (232)
and he puts them on. As soon as she leaves, though, he takes them off. This demonstrates that Walter

When he is entering a parking lot, the parking attendant tells Walter, Wrong lane Mac...leave her sit
there, I ll put her away (233). Mitty had entered the wrong lane, and he couldn t back up properly. This
event shows the incompetency in real life that Walter has, and how he struggles with everyday tasks.
He also talks to the parking attendant in a low, nervous voice. Walter isn t calm person in real life.
Walter Mitty makes up for these mistakes in his another fantasy by becoming a famous surgeon. He
imagines saving the life of a millionaire, and president friend. Thurber writes how the other doctors in
Mitty s fantasy tell him, No one in the East knows how to fix it (233). Mitty responds in calm voice
and takes over. This shows how in his fantasies Walter Mitty is calm since being a surgeon requires
complete concertation and calmness. He is also able to take on difficult tasks in his fantasy unlike
reality. Mitty fantasizes to fight the reality of him being inept and scared in the real

Boss 302 Research Paper
Beginning in 1969, Ford introduced both the Boss 302 and Boss 429. Styling for the Boss 302 was
done by Larry Shinoda, the suspension by Kar Kraft, and the engine was done by Ford who used the
5.0L block with the new 351 Cleveland heads. Originally, the Boss was to be named the Trans Am
until Ford discovered that GM had already licensed the name. The Boss was based off of the
SportsRoof body, but the simulated side scoops were deleted from the model. Flat black paint was
used on the hood, rear deck and taillight panels, and the headlight buckets. The Boss Mustang was
only available in four colors: Wimbledon White, Bright Yellow, Calypso Coral and Acapulco Blue. On
the side of the car, a large C stripe with Boss 302 lettering is found.

Essay about Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy
Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy
The Constitution adopted in 1789 gave Congress the power to raise and support armies, but it neither
mentioned nor prohibited conscription. The Framers left that issue to the future, although most of
them believed that the United States like Britain would enlist its men rather than conscript them, and
would pay for its armies through the power to tax. Not until World War I did the United States rely
primarily upon conscription. The Selective Service Act of 1917 was adopted in large part because a
civilian led preparedness movement had persuaded many Americans that a selective national draft was
the most equitable and efficient way for an industrial society to raise a wartime army. ... Show more

The drawing continued until all days of the year had been matched to lottery numbers. (Berger 1981)
In 1973, the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an All Volunteer military. The registration
requirement was suspended in April 1975. It was resumed again in 1980 by President Carter in
response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Registration continues today as a hedge against
underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis. (Berger 1981)
Draft Procedure and Policy
When a crisis occurs which requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply, Congress
passes and the President signs legislation which starts a draft. It should be noted that the President
cannot initiate a draft on his own. Congress would first have to pass legislation (both the House and
Senate), and the President would have to sign the bill into law. A lottery based on birthdays determines
the order in which registered men are called up by Selective Service. The first to be called, in a
sequence determined by the lottery, will be men whose 20th birthday falls during that year, followed,
if needed, by those aged 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. The Agency activates and orders its State Directors and
Reserve Forces Officers to report for duty. Registrants with low lottery numbers are ordered to report
for a physical, mental, and moral evaluation at a Military Entrance Processing Station to determine
whether they are

Memories of a Personal Event Essay
Memories of a Personal Event The door slammed shut. I wasn t sure what I was going to hear. To be
honest, I wasn t really sure whether I wanted to either. A nearby shadow gradually transformed into
my dad, who walked into the kitchen. Dad was holding his breath as if to try and prevent the three
small words which would change my life forever. I stared at my dad. Many thoughts were spinning
through my head and I began to feel dizzy. Dad spluttered out,

Halloween was special for a number of reasons. Firstly, it was only the one I shared with Stacey. I also
received a record amount of sweets, money and fruit. I could not believe my luck. I think it was down
to Stacey s charm (even if she was Cruella Devil) or my not so genius, John Higgins impersonation.
That night just proved to be special. Stacey and I shared jokes, threw away monkey nuts and knocked
on over 100 doors. After it was decided we should go home, we started our chocolate. Fireworks were
being lit in my estate and were somewhat spectacular. I distinctively remember hugging Stacey and
being ecstatic. It seemed as though life was perfect. The fireworks stopped.
Stacey suffered from really bad asthma. I know many people suffer from asthma and the severity is
wide ranging. I also know it s very rare for someone to die from an attack. Medicines are readily
available and in the 21st century, I wouldn t expect death as a consequence of asthma. Stacey s asthma
prevented us from playing as much football as we would have liked. I never for one minute thought
Stacey could ever suffer a fatal attack. I don t think many people think of the consequences of the
illness until the reality is riveted home through a tragedy.
The night before Stacey died, we both sat in her house discussing things as usual. I never once
imagined that it

Compare The Great Gatsby And Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf
Compare and contrast the ways in which the authors of The Great Gatsby and Who s Afraid of
Virginia Woolf portray marriage and relationships. How far would you agree that both texts portray
marriage and relationships to present a judgement on the the society that they are set in? Marriage and
relationships in The Great Gatsby and Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf can be said to be portrayed as
corrupted and fundamentally flawed, through their dialogue, characterisation of the individuals and
symbolism surrounding the relationships. In the case of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf specifically
we can see instantly non hegemonic characterisation. Due to, what can be described as, its Absurd
stylistic qualities it can be said to be making a judgement on the society that the play is based in. As
this is a recurring theme of plays associated with the theatre of the absurd. It can also be said that the
nature of the relationships in both The Great Gatsby and Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf are used by
Fitzgerald and Albee to present a judgment on the state of the society they are set in, times of change.
It could also be a more general view on the morals and values of America and the way in which the
society has evolved and been corrupted. Fitzgerald uses the relationship between Myrtle and Tom to
present society s anxieties on materialism and sexuality. This can be seen in the way that Myrtle is
first introduced into the novel, through the way she looks. the thickish

  • 2. The Battle Of The Soldiers The three Soldiers were able to make it to the coast, they had taken a route that took them around the Marines and 82nd Airborne, while making note of their numbers, vehicles and weapons. They were surprised to find them there, with Second Brigade no place in sight. They entered Baltimore from the north and headed South East, they found much of the city sparse with life, they had found some civilians that had told them of the Supreme General and her Army and how they were defeated. The Soldiers again, found themselves surprised, they were told stories of fighter aircraft coming out of nowhere, and destroying the main base. They were also told of the mighty shells that came in and destroyed the Supreme Generals compound. Following the aircraft and shells came the Marines, fighting anyone that stood in their way, taking back the city. The people they spoke with told them not to get them wrong, they were happy with the actions of the Marines, they cleared out most of the gangs or ran them off. Life had been easier and safer since they came. They also told the three Soldiers that several hundred Marines remained in the city and were securing the port and refineries. That the Marines were being supplemented by the Army, they thought they heard the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It was all so incredible, than they were told of the ships off the coast, one was an aircraft carrier, which the Soldiers found hard to believe. The civilians told them ... • 3. Pyramus And Thisbe Vs. Romeo And Juliet Kevin Lord Josue Prof. Elizabeth Fogle CAMS 045 Final Paper/Final Draft August 15, 2014 Pyramus Thisbe vs. Romeo Juliet Tragic love stories have always been appealing to the literary world. This would be seen in Ovid s Pyramus and Thisbe and William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet . Ovid, one of Rome s greatest poets, was famous for The Metamorphoses. His love stories were deeply emotional, yet very tragic. The story of Pyramus and Thisbe is the most emotional story in The Metamorphoses and the most referenced in love tragedy. William Shakespeare s best plays were his tragedies, starting with Hamlet all the way through to Macbeth. No one knows exactly which source Shakespeare directly drew from to create the well known tragic romance, Romeo and Juliet , but it s pretty clear that somewhere along the way there was some major influence from Pyramus and Thisbe. Both stories, although written in different era share one key theme: love and tragedy. We fall in love and when once we do something rare and beautiful is created. Unfortunately not all love stories have happy endings. The lesson learned in both Pyramus and Thisbe and Romeo and Juliet stories will be the focus of this essay. Pyramus and Thisbe were lovers whose houses side by side to each other. They were considered so beautiful that If you searched all the East, you d find no girl with greater charm than Thisbe; and no boy in Babylon was handsomer than Pyramus (Ovid 111). The President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Army, Secretary of the Navy, Secretary of the Air Force, and Chairman of the National Security Resources Board composed the original statutory members of the NSC. The President was also authorized to designate other specified officials to the NSC. The NSC staff, which is separate from the Council, comprises politically appointed individuals and civil servants organized in specialized directorates. The primary function of the NSC is to advise the President on domestic, foreign, and military policies relating to the national security. The NSC acts as a coordinator between departments and agencies across government, and relies on accurate and insightful reports from them to develop national security policy recommendations for the President. The NSC is unique because it both consumes intelligence to make recommendations to the President, and guides intelligence activities by coordinating policies across government. Quantum Teleportation And Its Effect On Human Life Since 1993, when the concept was first introduced by Bennett et al., numerous attempt have been made to practically implement Quantum teleportation. Quantum teleportation was first demonstrated with entangled photons[11] in 1997. Later, various developments have been achieved in laboratory, including the demonstration of entanglement swapping[12], open destination teleportation[13] and teleportation of two bit composite system[14]. Entanglement distribution has been shown with fiber links[15 18]. In addition, practical quantum teleportation have been realized via fiber links[19, 20] and limited to a distance of about one kilometer. Experiments have achieved free space distribution of entangled photon pairs over distances of 600 m[21] and 13 km[22]. Later, entangled photons were transmitted over 144 km[23, 24]. In these experiments, either only one photon was transmitted[23] or the entangled photon pair was transferred together[24] using only a one link channel. Most recently, following a modified scheme[25], quantum teleportation over a 16 km free space links was demonstrated[26] with a single pair of entangled photons. However in this experiment, the unknown quantum state must be prepared on one of the resource entangled qubits and therefore cannot be presented independently. In order to introduce mobile handsets into a market like Venezuela, the supplier must be well acclimated with the purchasing habits, tastes, and willingness to purchase the product that is being sold. Understanding these things starts with building a knowledge base about the major aspects of the culture and your target consumer. Most of Venezuela s population finds itself educated because public education is provided. Even though education is free, there is an astounding 20 % of the population that has received no formal education at all. This is outrageous because Venezuela has a compulsory educational system, which means that people are required to by law to go to attend school for 9 years. This shows that even though education is provided for free there are still families so poverty stricken that they are not able to send their children to school; because they need to work to provide more support for the families. The children that do go through the public education system can attend Universities which are also free. Although the education in Venezuela is provided for free, this is also a reason why the education system is not the greatest. Providing education from grade school through college stretches educational funds thin, which results in each level of education being under funded. It has already been established that the majority of the people of Venezuela are literate. Titus Andronicus was staged on 24 January 1594 by the Earl of Sussex s Men at the Rose Theatre (Welsh 1). Though this tidbit of information seems somewhat irrelevant to Titus, we must note that there are certain standards and practices established by a play from its first performance. It is also important to establish the general attributes that audiences attribute to Shakespearean performance. First of all, looking at the practical purpose of Shakespeare s work, we see that he was trying to overcome the standard Kyd had set down with violence, found in works such as the Spanish Tragedy: Titus Andronicus tried to surpass [Kyd] in the portrayal of blood and horrors (Bowers 109). Not only did the violence serve as a practical means of marketing, but the emphasis and devotion to the villainous character of Aaron extends the role of the villain (Bowers 274). For the first time we have monologues of the villain developing if not at least trying to explain his motives. With this development, Shakespeare further progressed his craft and simultaneously, gained stature for his inclinations. • 18. The Little Mermaid Analysis Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were written. They tell us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in societies with rules dictated by men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked stepmother or the consequences of just being curious, one issue stays the same, the longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is evident with just about any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and show a strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaid and the movie Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton. The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this time in history, women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was submissive; her job was to be a meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is clearly the case in this story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected to abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are content with living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden just like everyone else, but she wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had always had an infatuation with the surface, always longing for her 15th birthday when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world of humans. Once she laid eyes on the human world and the handsome young prince, her desire to break free from the social norm consumed her every thought. Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos of California. It took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws like the 1 100 crack/powder disparity were being passed targeting black people disproportionally. Many cases of police brutality and even mobs attacking and murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. On January 30, 1957, the Montgomery police arrested seven bombers; all were members of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group. The arrests largely brought an end to the busing related violence. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a very important and vital part in the civil rights movement for many reasons. First, it was the one of the first mass protests on civil rights in the U.S. The Montgomery bus boycott set the stage for other large protests outside the court system to bring fair treatment for African Americans. Second, Martin Luther King came up as a prominent national leader of the civil rights movement while also.keeping true to his commitment to nonviolent protest. Shortly after the boycott s end, he ... • 27. The Replication Of DNA In Escherichia Coli Introduction Today s issue of Biology: Meselson and Stahl (Vol 4, 1958) includes a groundbreaking development into further understanding of DNA Replication. On pages 671 682 is an article titled The Replication of DNA in Escherichia Coli . Meselson and Stahl conducted an experiment to understand how DNA self replicates by the use of Bacterial transformation to clone parental DNA. In the article, Meselson and Stahl investigate the distribution between the parental and daughter DNA molecules. This is achieved by the use of Radio Isotopic labelling. Uniform Isotopic N15 was grown in E.coli consisting of N14 medium to observe the distribution of N15 DNA macromolecules. Within the article, the authors also discuss the problems they faced during the investigation and how significant Watsons and Cricks Double helix suggests how DNA self replicates. What is DNA? The discovery of the structure of DNA has always been associated with Watson and Crick. Their double helix structure, which they developed in 1983, has been used as a model to understand how DNA self replicates (Karp, 2009). The structure of DNA is made up of covalent bonds between 4 unique nucleotide bases. These bases bind together via complementary base pairing, therefore allowing Adenine to only bind with Thymine, and Cytosine with Guanine (Penn State, Ebery College of Science, 2016). The use of covalent bonds makes the structure strongly bound like a zipper. However, just like a zipper, it can easily open up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Peter Paul Rubens Raising Of The Cross Essay The piece that stood out to me the most from the readings was Peter Paul Rubens The Raising of the Cross. I believe the piece is a culmination of influences from his predecessors and contemporaries and religious works of the Baroque period. I also see this work in particular as a very obvious embodiment of emotional realist art, though with its own original and unique interpretation of the art style. It is apparent that the Carracci brothers Ceiling of Gallery inspired Rubens work. From studying their work, Rubens learned anatomical accuracy and realistic physical representations of bodies. In Ruben s painting, the bodies depicted are all realistic and anatomically probable, a stark contrast from early humanist work which illustrated huge, heroic, near science defying bodies that were more akin to mythology than actual beings. The figures in Rubens work are certainly idealized, with Christ being very muscular himself, but there is also believability to their depictions. For example, the old woman on the side mourning Christ s crucifixion is thoroughly detailed, and simply looks to be real, or something we would perceive in day to day life. ... Cochlear implants were a major breakthrough in history. There was now a way for people, who have had little or no benefit from hearing aids, to receive sound. The cochlear implant, which was sometimes called a Bionic Ear could help some people to hear again. In 1972 the first single channel cochlear implant was introduced. Flat black paint was used on the hood, rear deck and taillight panels, and the headlight buckets. The Boss Mustang was only available in four colors: Wimbledon White, Bright Yellow, Calypso Coral and Acapulco Blue. On the side of the car, a large C stripe with Boss 302 lettering is found. ... • 47. Essay about Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy The Constitution adopted in 1789 gave Congress the power to raise and support armies, but it neither mentioned nor prohibited conscription. The Framers left that issue to the future, although most of them believed that the United States like Britain would enlist its men rather than conscript them, and would pay for its armies through the power to tax. Not until World War I did the United States rely primarily upon conscription. The Selective Service Act of 1917 was adopted in large part because a civilian led preparedness movement had persuaded many Americans that a selective national draft was the most equitable and efficient way for an industrial society to raise a wartime army. ... (Berger 1981) In 1973, the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an All Volunteer military. The registration requirement was suspended in April 1975. It was resumed again in 1980 by President Carter in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Registration continues today as a hedge against underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis. (Berger 1981) Draft Procedure and Policy When a crisis occurs which requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply, Congress passes and the President signs legislation which starts a draft. It should be noted that the President cannot initiate a draft on his own. Congress would first have to pass legislation (both the House and Senate), and the President would have to sign the bill into law. A lottery based on birthdays determines the order in which registered men are called up by Selective Service. The first to be called, in a sequence determined by the lottery, will be men whose 20th birthday falls during that year, followed, if needed, by those aged 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. The Agency activates and orders its State Directors and Reserve Forces Officers to report for duty. Registrants with low lottery numbers are ordered to report for a physical, mental, and moral evaluation at a Military Entrance Processing Station to determine whether they are ... • 48. Memories of a Personal Event Essay Memories of a Personal Event The door slammed shut. I wasn t sure what I was going to hear. To be honest, I wasn t really sure whether I wanted to either. A nearby shadow gradually transformed into my dad, who walked into the kitchen. Dad was holding his breath as if to try and prevent the three small words which would change my life forever. I stared at my dad. Many thoughts were spinning through my head and I began to feel dizzy. Dad spluttered out, Stacey had died, with little sign of remorse. I couldn t believe what he had just told me, I was refusing to listen as I fell into the arms of my older brother and sister. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Halloween was special for a number of reasons. Firstly, it was only the one I shared with Stacey. I also received a record amount of sweets, money and fruit. I could not believe my luck. I think it was down to Stacey s charm (even if she was Cruella Devil) or my not so genius, John Higgins impersonation. That night just proved to be special. Stacey and I shared jokes, threw away monkey nuts and knocked on over 100 doors. After it was decided we should go home, we started our chocolate. Fireworks were being lit in my estate and were somewhat spectacular. I distinctively remember hugging Stacey and being ecstatic. It seemed as though life was perfect. The fireworks stopped. Stacey suffered from really bad asthma. I know many people suffer from asthma and the severity is wide ranging. I also know it s very rare for someone to die from an attack. Medicines are readily available and in the 21st century, I wouldn t expect death as a consequence of asthma. Stacey s asthma prevented us from playing as much football as we would have liked. I never for one minute thought Stacey could ever suffer a fatal attack. I don t think many people think of the consequences of the illness until the reality is riveted home through a tragedy. The night before Stacey died, we both sat in her house discussing things as usual. I never once imagined that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare The Great Gatsby And Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Compare and contrast the ways in which the authors of The Great Gatsby and Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf portray marriage and relationships. How far would you agree that both texts portray marriage and relationships to present a judgement on the the society that they are set in? Marriage and relationships in The Great Gatsby and Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf can be said to be portrayed as corrupted and fundamentally flawed, through their dialogue, characterisation of the individuals and symbolism surrounding the relationships. In the case of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf specifically we can see instantly non hegemonic characterisation. Due to, what can be described as, its Absurd stylistic qualities it can be said to be making a judgement on the society that the play is based in. As this is a recurring theme of plays associated with the theatre of the absurd. It can also be said that the nature of the relationships in both The Great Gatsby and Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf are used by Fitzgerald and Albee to present a judgment on the state of the society they are set in, times of change. It could also be a more general view on the morals and values of America and the way in which the society has evolved and been corrupted. Fitzgerald uses the relationship between Myrtle and Tom to present society s anxieties on materialism and sexuality. This can be seen in the way that Myrtle is first introduced into the novel, through the way she looks. the thickish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
