Adults learn best when they understand the importance of learning something, have freedom in how they learn, can learn through experience, are ready to learn, and are in a positive learning environment. There are five principles of teaching adults: make sure they understand the purpose of learning; respect different learning styles like visual, auditory, and kinesthetic; allow experiential learning; teach when students are ready; and encourage students.
