The Milky Way Galaxy Essay
Many people who live on Earth are close minded to what is really out there in the universe. They
cannot even begin to fathom the vastness of it and how Earth is just a tiny little speck compared
to everything else out there. From the planets to the stars and out towards the edge of the
unknown, we can only see what science provides us with. From this, we know that we are nothing
but a tiny planet located in a solar system of millions in a galaxyof many more in the universe. A
galaxy, also called a nebula, consists of billions of stars, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter
which are all bound to form a massive cloud in which we live in. Although it cannot be very well
explained, dark matter makes up at least 90% of a galaxy s mass.... Show more content on

Once microwave radiation was discovered, studies improved on the Milky Way Galaxy. Its Doppler
Shift can be used to map the motion of gas in it. Also, with radio telescopes, hydrogen gas can
now be traced. When the Hubble Space Telescope was introduced in 1990, that made exploring
space so much easier and more efficient. That s how we discovered so much about our universe
including galaxies!
The Milky Way received its name from the milky, white band of stars that go across the celestial
sphere visible from Earth. However, in Greek mythology, it is said that Zeus placed his mortal
son, Heracles on Hera s breast while she was asleep so the baby could breastfeed to become
immortal. When she had awoken to a strange baby feeding off of her, she pushed Heracles away
and a stream of milk sprayed through the night sky forming the Milky Way. It is estimated that
about 200 to 400 billion stars are located within the galaxy. The Milky Way is also one of the
larger galaxies that have a circumference of about 300 thousand light years! There are many types
and morphologies of galaxies. First, there are elliptical galaxies which have elongated structures,
like an ellipse. An elliptical galaxy on the Hubble Sequence, a classification system for galaxies,

Ambition in Hamlet by Williams Shakespeare
The dictionary defines personal ambition as An earnest desire for some type of achievement or
distinction, as power, honour, fame, or wealth and the willingness to strive for its attainment .
(Dictionary.com) One could argue that too much ambition can be a negative trait. By placing such
an emphasis on personal ambition it causes some to push their loved ones away in order to achieve
what they want. Within most people, unhappiness is a common feeling and in extreme results, it
leads to death. In the texts Fifth Business by Robertson Daviesand William Shakespeares Hamlet, it
is evident when the strongest characters place power and ambition above all else they crumble.

Gertrude tries to bring her sons sanity back but Hamlet does not give in and keeps disturbing
Gertrude:
QUEEN. O Hamlet, speak no more:
Thou turn st my very eyes into my soul,
And there I see black and grained spots
As will not leave their tinct.
HAMLET. Nay, but to live
In the rank sweat of an enseamed bed,
Stew d in corruption, honeying and making love
Over the nasty sty,
QUEEN. O, speak to me no more;
These words like daggers enter in my ears;
No more, sweet Hamlet! (3.4.88 96)
Hamlet is overflowing with the power he placed on his ambition to succeed in seeking his
revenge that he pushed two characters that would have done anything for him far away. As well
for the character Boy in Fifth Business, he too pushes away someone who really cares about
him. Coincidentally, as Hamlet pushes away females, Boy distant himself from his first wife,
Leola. He would beat her and yell at her all the time because he was so cooped up in his own
mind. A severe incident which takes place between Boy and Leola is when Boy gives Dunny a
number of reels of film, and asks him to develop them for him. At first, this seems a harmful
favour, but when Dunny realizes that those reels contain naked pictures of Leola, it embarrasses
as well as angers him to a great extent. Boy s excitement over the pictures at the dinner table
would provide a discomfort to one, as Leola says: Boy, please put them away or I ll have to go

Public Goods Game Experiment
Introduction
A public goods game is an experimental game where subjects choose the amount of money or
tokens they would like to place in a public pot. It is done so privately without anyone else knowing
about it. The amount is then multiplied equally by a factor, and it is then equally shared among the
participants. (Radoc, 2001) Although some players would have contributed less they are allowed to
keep tokens or money amounts they did not contribute. Peoples contributions are also heavily
subjective what how much their peers contribute, and also benchmarked upon previous
contributions (Augenblick Cunha, 2014) We have conducted a small experiment in our student
accommodation to test and see the behavior of people in a natural setting.

This was tested with the famous paradox known as The Ellsberg Paradox, which indicates that
decision makers are often ambiguity averse, preferring options with subjectively known
probabilities to options with unknown probabilities (Weber Tan, 2012) Similarly, Risk Aversion
could be described as, when an individual is presented with two options they choose the option
with a lower risk. People were willing to take the risk in Round 5 because they knew that although
there was a chance of numerous participants contributing the maximum value, there would still be
some amount they would benefit from and receive. However in round 6 there was a chance that
they may not participate in the coin toss and there is a 50% chance they may not receive anything
at all. Although they pay offs were higher there was a still a greater probability they may not

Who Is Vlad The Impaler Real
Everyone knows the name of Dracula. The infamous story and name began with the 1897 gothic
horror novel written by Bram Stoker. Whether you have read the book or watched the multiple film
recreations you know, and recognize the plot of Count Dracula s devious intentions. So while many
individuals will enjoy the blood sucking, and curdling films, shows, and novels this Halloween
they probably will be unaware of the true story of Count Dracula. The tale of Dracula didn t
actually instantaneously sprout from the brain of the Irish author I previously mentioned. He was
inspired by a far more sinister plot line... only this one was real, and the main character s name was
Vlad III.
Vlad III, a bloodthirsty soul who was also a medieval prince of Wallachia around the time of 1448
until his death, happened to also be known as DrДѓculea. His other nickname, Vlad the Impaler,
gives you kind of an idea about the type of dude he was. Vlad often terrorized those who he
found to be enemies using exceptional amounts of cruelty. If Vlad the Impaler wanted you dead,
most likely he would choose the sadistic, and fear creation route. By which I mean he would
execute you via impalement. He was in a sense a very great military leader in a sense. He made up
for his lack of men by using psychological warfare, as well as his own vicious creativity. ... Show

Greenfield Research Paper
Greenfield is a very nice place to grow up and start a family. In 1957 Greenfield Wisconsin
became a city. In 2016, Greenfield is an astonishing place where many families come to live!
Greenfield is a very fun and safe place to live. Greenfield has many city events when the whole
city comes together to create a fun event! Throughout the years Greenfield has grown and became
a fascinating place. Greenfield Wisconsin could ve been named Kinnikinnick but thank goodness
the people of Greenfield, chose Greenfield instead. Did you know? Milwaukee s Summer fest

A couple of reasons of how Greenfield s geography affects people s lives is because of food
choices, temperature, and the way land is used. The food in Greenfield Wisconsin is very unique.
For example, if someone were to go to France and eat there, the food in France would be very
different from the food in Greenfield, Wisconsin. Another reason of how Greenfield s
geography affects people s lives is because of the temperature. In Greenfield Wisconsin, there are
four seasons: summer, fall, winter, and spring. In each season many things throughout the city
change. Example: in summer more plants will grow because of the weather. Also, some grass
will die because of the weather. The third and final reason of how Greenfield s geography affects
people s lives is, by the way, a land is used. In Greenfield, most land is used for buildings such as
schools, gas stations, police fire department, houses, apartments, etc. How does this effect
geography? Well, it affects what people may do in their free time and what their life is like.
(How people work and some things Greenfield has that other city s may not have) Now that we
know some reasons of how Greenfield s geography affects humans, let s move on to Greenfield s

Mission, By Charmaine Warford
Mission
By Charmaine Warford
June 2013
Sending out missionaries to a designated territory where they would preach the Gospel and convert
non Christians. Is this true today?
Before the Sixteenth century mission was used to describe relationships within the holy Trinity. It
was not used to describe an aspect of church life. The word missio in Latin means to send , it was
used to describe the sending of the Son by the Father, and also the sending of the Holy Spirit by the
Father and the Son. 1.
The Jesuits in Latin American in the late Sixteenth and early Seventeenth centuries started to use
the term to describe the spreading of the Christian faith among the heathen of that continent and,
subsequently, of the spreading of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. Barth s insight into the nature of mission came about at one of the lowest points of the Twentieth
Century when the Nazis were about to come to power. At that time Barth was teaching in Germany
and knew very well what the rise of the Nazis meant for Europe.
After the war, in 1952, when the churches were once again contemplating a renewal of mission at
the Willingen Conference of the International Missionary Council in 1952, Barth s influence took
hold and his insight was expressed and developed in the conference resolution. It makes an explicit
and important connection between church missionary work and the nature of God as Trinity:
The missionary movement of which we are a part has its source in the Triune God himself. Out of
the depths of his love for us, the Father has sent forth his own beloved Son to reconcile all things
to himself. We who have been chosen in Christ are committed to full participation in his redeeming
mission. There is no participation in Christ without participation in his mission to the world. That
by which the Church receives its existence is that by which it is also given its world mission. 4.
This was a highly significant moment in the genealogy of the word mission because it was

Themes Of Japan s Indigenous Religion
THEMES
Japan s indigenous religion is ShintЕЌ, and its customs are enmeshed in Japanese culture. It is
animistic, seeing gods and spirits in everything. This leads to a deep respect for human harmony
with the environment. Many Ghibli films contain jinja, or shrines, and torii, or sacred gates, which
are used to pay respect or give offerings in ShintЕЌism. Ghibli films also contain kami, spirits that
reside in all things. Princess Mononoke is filled with a kami (Odell 28).
Other Japanese mythology is seen through Miyazaki films through spirits that have the ability to
transform their shape, such as the foxes and raccoons in Pom Poko. Buddhism also influences
Miyazaki films. Dragons derive from Buddhist legends and are in Spirited Away. Buddhist statues
are also seen in My Neighbor Totoro, and Pom Poko (Odell 28). All of his movies contain variations
of spirits, demons, or fantastical creatures rooted in nature. There is a balance of empathy through
his human elements, but mystery in his fantasy elements.
One major theme that runs through all Miyazaki films is environmentalism, or how mankind
interacts with nature. This is closely linked with the ShintЕЌ ethic that sees the environment as
interconnected beings that deserve respect. In Princess Mononoke, the center of the plot is focused
on the conflict between humans destroying the forest and the gods and spirits who are fighting
back. In Ponyo, the dumping of waste is almost her downfall right at the beginning of the movie

The Allende Governance A New Governance Essay
After the fall of the Allende governance a new governance was applied which led to rise of free
market economy through the use of different reforms like privatization and deregulation. With
low level of understanding in economics Pinochet hired economists who were tasked with
freeing the economy from the previous destruction caused by socialists. According to De Haan
by 1970 Chile recorded least freedom in its economy (De Haan et al 220). But later the economy
started experiencing major growth from 1980s which increased economic growth from7.2 percent
compared to other countries in South America. While the country economic progress has received
international recognition, their development hasn t been easy as it has faced major critical
moments to their economic success. For example during the 1982 recession the gross domestic
product dropped by 14.1 % which resulted to overvaluation of their currency which made the
currency more vulnerable to harsh changes in international economy. This changes led to decrease
in capital which decreased availability of finance meant to finance investments. According to
Buchi this led to an increase in unemployment by 23% and decrease in salaries and wages by over
10% (Buchi 10). Years later Chile has been able to experience economic growth especially in the
1980s compared with other countries in South America who underwent similar crises. This success
has been achieved through the application of crisis management process which had affected

A Brief Note On Sweden And Finland And Sweden
Most developed countries have suffered through at least one financial crisis. The term financial
crisis is in itself very broad and applies to a various number of situations in which financial
institutions or financial assets rapidly decrease in value. In the late 1980 s and early 1990 s, the
Scandinavian countries along with Finland all faced rather serious financial crises, but the
outcomes differed vastly among the nations as Denmark and Swedenpushed through to fairly
satisfactory results, but Norway and Finland suffered greater complications. No nation s crisis
was identical to another s and perhaps thereof the different outcomes, but what other factors
played a role in deciding a nation s fate. To better compare and analyze, the focus of this paper
will be placed on simply two of the nations involved Sweden and Finland , two nations bordering
each other, with a great many similarities but two very different outcomes from respective crisis
and how they handled their respective issues, and what can be used for future reference.
American economist Richard G. Anderson (2009) has previously touched briefly on some of the
similarities among the Scandinavian nations crises, specifically referring to a common two stage
sequence in each of the countries. The two stage sequence, as Anderson explains, included rapidly
increasing economic growth accompanied by financial liberalization along with the introduction of
new financial instruments, followed by sharp

Throughout I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud William Wordsworth shows his relationship with
nature through his choice of diction, fantastic descriptions, and shifting mood of his poem.
There are also many words and phrases that Wordsworth included into his poem that shows how
he feels about nature. These phrases are well written, extremely descriptive, and show how
Wordsworth is influenced by the wild: I wandered lonely as a cloud , When all at once I saw a
crowd, a host, of golden daffodils , Continuous as the stars that shine and twinkle on the milky
way, they stretched in never ending line along the margin of a bay: ten thousand saw I at a

brought , and For oft, when on my couch I lie in vacant or in pensive mood, they flash upon that
inward eye [...] and then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with the daffodils. Another
phrase, which indicates that the flowers were so beautiful that no true poet could be sad in their
presence, also builds upon Wordsworth s relationship with nature. These particular lines in I
Wandered Lonely as a Cloud show how Wordsworth s mood shifts from somber and lonely to
joyous and content. The lines also show how the gorgeousness of nature sticks with

Analysis Of Nella Larson s Passing, And Amiri Baraka s...
Much of American Literature written in the 1900 s detail the experiences of race within America,
being that slavery had only recently been abolished. Society in no way viewed African American s
as equal to white American s. At this time, blacks were forced to fight to be viewed as a full
person, worthy of basic human rights. Nella Larson s Passing, and Amiri Baraka s The Dutchman,
both call attention to the racial tensions in a post Civil War America, by exposing the manipulation
of the endemic racism within our culture, and the effect that it has on the way the African American
community interacts within itself through the use of an extended metaphor.

Clare knows the consequences that she would experience from the white community, she would

Cultural Sensitivity On The Part Of Nurses Towards Jewish...
It may seem that there would not need to be much cultural sensitivity on the part of nurses
towards Jewish people. After all, Jews have been intricately involved in American culture and
history almost from the beginning of America. This melding of the Jewish culture into popular
American culture is shown in many ways. For example, many Yiddish words are part of
American colloquial English. Shalom is a Hebrew word that is commonly used by Jewish
people to mean peace , hello , or good bye (Bralock Padgham, 2017, p. 513). Shalom may be a
common Jewish word, but it has been read, heard, and even used by non Jews. In fact, a number

generality is not true of the younger generation of Jews who tend to be more reserved with their
demeanor, expressing themselves more with a sense of humor and sarcasm. According to
Culture Vision (n.d.) Jewish dogma teaches that It is everyone s duty to maintain and preserve
his or her own good health (both physical and mental) . This does not mean that even Orthodox
Jews avoid medical assistance. It merely means that their approach may be limited by Jewish
beliefs. For example, Elyssa states, more religious Jews may want to consult a rabbi with certain
medical decisions, especially if more ethically questionable. Also, even Jewish people who
strictly observe the Sabbath are able to break it for life saving measures. However, the needed
medical treatment is not lifesaving they may well refuse to participate in it on the Jewish Sabbath.
For example, a patient in the hospital might prefer to delay a test or even a procedure if it is not

Pip is unable to comprehend that Miss Havisham is desperate to destroy men s lives and Estella
cannot change the way she is. It is also apparent that Miss Havisham uses Estella to break men s
hearts when Miss Havisham asks Estella about how many hearts she has broken. Many times
Estella tries to explain to Pip that she is incapable of loving him. One time she says, We have no
choice, you and I, but to obey our instructions. We are not free to follow our own devices, you
and I. (266). Estella comprehends that she is a puppet in what is considered a greater plan. She
is not free to do what she pleases because she is under Miss Havisham s influence and her
instructions to break hearts and not to care about the feelings and pain she brings. Hence, Miss
Havisham lived through Estella in order to hurt as many men as possible.
In Great Expectations, the male character, by the name of Abel

Characters of the movie also help to display Mexican culture. Surprisingly, one of the characters

using vibrant oranges, purples, and greens to represent the art. Every single alebrije in Mexican

Alexander the Great
In Alexander the Great by Philip Freeman, Alexander was portrayed as a clean shaved man with
lean cheeks, square jaw, and had a fierce look of determination. He was born in July during the year
356 B.C. and was the son of Philip and Olympias. (page 3)
From the day Alexander could walk, he started his training in war. (page 18) He was involved in
sword play, archery and horsemanship. Alexander had many tutors who taught him different
subjects, including reading, writing and the healing arts. According to Freeman, by the end of his
training in the healing arts, he could treat wounds and prescribe medicine to men. (page 26)

Commentary On The Southwest Monsoon
Personal Comment: The southwest monsoon is one of earth s oldest weather observations. It
occurs annually in india throughout three months (June September). This information helps me to
get a better understanding of the novel because it creates imagery. We re able to understanding the
characters surroundings more, and put ourselves in the characters place. It also provides
background information on the culture of the characters and it s geographic state. Knowing this
information helps us to understand the reasoning behind some of the events going on in the novel.
Through research I was able to confirm that the information in the novel is accurate regarding the
Southwest Monsoon. Research states that the southwest Monsoon is the seasonal reversale of
winds and the associated rainfall and the author confirms that by stating three months of wind and
water . Further research also states that the Southwest Monsoon occurs from June September and
that is three months. This information is relevant to the novel because it helps add on to the setting

Examples Of Flashback In My Antonia
The book, My Antonia, can be a historical text due to the constant flashbacks the narrator of the
story tells in a nostalgic fashion. The first such example in the book where the narrator has a
flashback is when he and Jim Burton run into each other on a train and the conversation that
follows about a Bohemian girl they both knew. During that burning day when we were crossing
Iowa, our talk kept returning to a central figure, a Bohemian girl whom we had both known long
ago. More than any other person we remembered, this girl seemed to mean to us the country, the
conditions, the whole adventure of our childhood (Cather, 1918, p. 2). In this quote, the narrator
focuses on a figure in his and Jim Burton s childhood that had a major effect... Show more content

upland farm, a plough had been left standing in the field. The sun was sinking just behind it.
Magnified across the distance by the horizontal light, it stood out against the sun, was exactly

Analytical Essay On Bartleby The Scrivener
Published in the early 1850s, Bartleby, the Scrivener is a story by Herman Melville which takes
place on Wall Street in New York. Melville is known for having a reputation that s extremely
interesting because it has unusually sharp contrast and because it permits to the complicated
process going on all around us at the present moment (Riegel). Melville uses a narrator in this story
and describes himself as an unambitious lawyer who owns a small officeon WallStreet and his
primary focuses in life are financial stability and simplicity. After he describes himself, the narrator
starts giving details on the surroundings of his work place and three other workers around him. The
narrator becomes mesmerized by one of the three workers around him, Bartleby, for his
unexplainable actions in which he refuses to work. Melville, at first, portrays Bartleby as a
hardworking person who later refuses to work upon command and even lies unresponsive on the
ground to die. Melville s purpose of Bartleby s sudden change in motivation is to show the dreary,
repeatable atmosphere of the bureaucratic American society in the 1850 s. Before Bartleby s arrival
at the office, the narrator compared two views seen from the office building as opposites. The
narrator states, At one end they looked upon the white wall of the interior of a spacious sky light
shaft, penetrating the building from top to bottom. This view might have been considered rather
tame than otherwise, deficient in what

Motion and Car Safety
Motion is how everything in the universe moves, movement of the solar system never stops and
is constantly moving but at a very slow speed. There are three laws in motion that explain
movement, they are the Newton s three laws of motion named after Isaac Newton. The Newton
s first law states that an object that is a rest will stay at rest unless an outside force is acted upon
it and an object that is in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force is acted upon it. This
is also called as inertia , which means the property of an object to restrict its motion. Examples of
inertia would be when a car is driving at a constant speed and instantly stops the person will fall
forward if there is no seat belt.
The seat belt is a safety device that is commonly found on car seats and aircraft seats, it is made
from strong durable materials such as fabric, nylon or polyester. Cars that are manufactured are
required to have seat belts due to road safety laws. The law was introduced in the 1970s, it was
shown that having seat belts reduced the amount of road deaths. The seat belt was invented by
George Cayley in the late 1800 s, the seat belt appeared on planes in the early 1900 s but was
later developed to a three point seat belt by Nils Bohlin. The purpose of seat belts is to restrain the
forward motion that occurs during an accident, which may end up saving the person s life or
preventing serious injuries.

Gender Roles And Social Expectations
As a child, many of us enjoyed watching Disney movies to the point that we basically lived off
of those movies. In many Disney movies there were hidden aspects children mainly did not
notice like gender roles and social expectations. Even though children may not realize the social
expectations aspect incorporated into movies they still absorb those lessons like a sponge. They
learn these aspects by seeing them as role models, they have the desire to become that person.
For an example, during Halloween we see hundreds of little girls dressing up like their favorite
princess. They see these princesses as role models since little girls can relate them to by gender.
Depending on what the princess portrays in the movie determines the outcome if it is beneficial
or flawed characteristics that the child may take up. Like in early Disney movies the princesses
were the damsel that were saved by the prince but a different scenario is produced in Mulan.
Mulan is a heroine and loved by all of China but it didn t start out like that, the expectations
developed. In the movie, the characters and songs illustrated the expectations of a women and men
that those expectations still exists in our own society today.
In the beginning of Mulan, Fa Mulan is shown preparing to meet the matchmaker, writing womanly
qualities on her forearm. Those words still resonate in today s society. The words she wrote quiet

Tennyson s In Memoriam Essay
Tennyson s In Memoriam
In Memoriam is an elegy to Tennyson s friend Arthur Hallam, but bears the hallmark of its mid
nineteenth century context, the locus classicus of the science and religion debate. Upon reflection,
Hallam s tragic death has proved to be an event that provoked Tennysons embarkation upon a much
more ambitious poetic project than conventional Miltonian elegy, involving meditation upon the
profoundest questions faced by mankind. Scientific advancements, most notably in the fields of
geology and biology, challenged the beliefs that form the foundation of Christianity: the belief in a
beneficent God responsible for creation and ensuing superintendence and the belief in man s
immortal soul. By the mid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are Tennyson?s trip through Hades. By personifying Nature and placing ?her? in
opposition to God as a distinct power, Tennyson seems to imply a polytheistic belief that two,
not one, seats of power exist. In these passages it seems that Tennyson perceives Nature to have
greater influence over Earth and mankind. At the close of LV, God appears as distant and hidden
in darkness, leaving man in a state analogous with that of a child ? weak, vulnerable and desirous
of care: he falls ?upon the great world?s altar stairs That slope thro? darkness up to God,? (lines
14 15). Metaphorically darkness represents the secrecy surrounding God and the answers that he
holds, a motif that is reprised at the close of LVI: ?behind the veil, behind the veil.? The repetition
of the clause emphasises Tennyson?s frustrations. Indeed God seems so distant and hidden that
Tennyson?s faith in his existence is weakened and he is only able to ?feel? and ?faintly trust,? not
resolutely know. The lack of conviction conveyed here through Tennyson?s semantic choices
illustrates an emergence of disillusion with eutheistic belief. The existence of the Christian
conception of a loving god is called into question, and it is implicitly asserted that the conception
of Nature conveyed in these passages may be the true, ditheistic, conception of God. That ?of fifty

Australia s Involvement For The Australian War
During the Second World War over a seven month period between July 1942 and January 1943,
the events of the Kokoda Trail Campaign and the Battle of the Beachheads took place on what was
once the Australian territories of Papua and New Guinea. Good morning, I am Lee Varnes, and I am
representing the Australian War Memorial to inform you of the significance of Australia
s
involvement in the Papua Campaign. I will be discussing the reasons behind Japan s invasion of
Papua, the course of the campaign, the outcome of the campaign and the significance it had on the
Australian people and the soldiers involved.
Port Moresby was an extremely important tactical position for both allied forces and the Japanese;
as it would allow Japan to fulfil Operation FS and allow allied forces to attack north over the
Kokoda trail towards the Japanese base at Rabaul (Austrialian Goverment: Department of Veterans
Affairs, 2015). Through the completion of Operation FS, the Japanese would be able to throttle
Australia into submission by cutting off communication and supply lines with the US , they
planned to do so through the gradual extension of Japanese control over the islands in the South
East Pacific around continental Australia (Pacific War Historical Society, n.d.). Japanese Prime
Minister, Tojo Hideki, was opposed to the direct amphibious invasion of Australia, though with Port
Moresby under Japanese control it would allow them to terrorise Australia s eastern coast as

My Experience In Radiograph Places
Today I did my internship in the radiograph area of the clinic. Due to an office closure the
Tuesday prior, the patient count double. This is because all patients were rescheduled for the
next Tuesday without staggering their appointments. We were working franticly to move
patients, but on this particular day the office was understaffed. I was in the radiograph room
taking radiographs. I captured the radiographs of about 30 patients. At four bitewings a piece,
that s a lot of pictures. I was able to do it in a timely manner. I was fine with it though because I
needed more practice on my radiographs. The receptionist/office manager had mentioned that if
I had not come, it would have taken twice as long. There isn t anyone actually on the payroll.
Because of this, help varies quite a bit on a daily basis. As always, the office had a cheery
atmosphere. Everyone was so positive and ready to work. I found an app that allows me to
speak to patients in Spanish. Although it worked quite well, I expressed my desire to be fluent.

Immigration And The Issue Of Immigration
My current event is on the issue of Immigration and Refugees that is going on in our society.
Immigrants have been the back bone of what made America great. This country is supposed to be
the land of opportunity. For the people that come here that is all that they hear. Wanting a fresh start
from whatever country they came from. The NASW (2015) said that Immigrationhas increased
rapidly in the 1990s, with more than 13 million people moved to the United States(p.176).
Immigrants and Refugees is an issue that has been talked about for many years. In 1965 the
Immigration and Nationality Act Amendments provided a sweeping change in immigration law.
The national origins system was abolished and a new set of priorities for admitting immigrants
was adopted (NASW, 2015, p. 176). So Immigration has been a part of our culture, American
society, and policy making for a long time now. It is talked about today even with during our
Presidential campaign for 2016. The problems with Immigrants and Refugees coming to America
came to issue when Donald Trump said he would deport all undocumented immigrants in the
United States which is an estimated 11 million people (Saunt, 2015). In this article the Author
Claudio Saunt made it his effort to explain that is a horrible idea. Saunt (2015) wrote in his article
that In the past American cities and countries in the Southwest and Midwest tried to expel Mexican
Americans once before in the 1930s, and it was a traumatic result for the

Brick Lane
Portrayal of women in literature is heavily influenced by the social and cultural views of its context,
but it is the author s view that matters most
Through close analysis of Monica Ali s Brick Lane, one is able to see the various ways women are
represented in literature, showing that both social and cultural views of its context, as well as the
author s own view are equally important in crafting an ingenious storyline. In this novel, Ali focuses
on several Bengali women as they embark on a journey of self discovery. Ali portrays them as
suppressed by their patriarchal culture, by their religion, as well as being resilient fighters against
injustice. At times, Ali conforms to Bengali cultural views, however, at others, they are... Show

The allusion to God knowing everything, in Only God knows the answer and if it is God s will
spoken by Nazneen in response to Chanu s queries, further shows the submissiveness of women to
God and fate, believing that God makes the choices and has the answers Hence, Monica Ali
conforms to Bengali social and cultural expectations by representing women as religious beings
who are both liberated yet suppressed by Islam.
Monica Ali also portrays Bengali women as strong willed fighters who defy cultural expectations,
challenging the socio cultural views of Bengali culture. The highly patriarchal Bengali culture
expects women to be submissive to men as well as their culture; however, the women in Brick Lane
continually challenge this. Hasina observes a beggar woman at a Bangladesh street corner getting
abused by men, and the description, she start shuffling away and shout symbolises the fighting
spirit of Bengali women against the patriarchal forces in their culture. Nazneen s daughter Shahana
is also rebellious and her disrespecful tone in her statement Bor ing...What s wrong with you! to her

traditional Bengali cultural values. At the Bengal Tigers meeting, Nazneen describes a

In a suspension, catalyst s amount can affect the photocatalytic activity by blocking the light,
dispersion/agglomeration of particles, adsorption desorption of reactants and/ or intermediates,
and charge carriers generation [44,45]. Regarding the graph, by building up the photocatalyst s
value from 20 to 50 and then to 100 mg a sharp decrease in concentration of the RB5 were
observed. Afterwards, the dye degradation is decreased dramatically as a result of the building up
in the amount of the catalyst. The greatest percentage of degradation observed at 100 mg of catalyst

Below the optimal amount, the number of catalytic active sites are less in turn production of

Ex Factor Lauryn Hill Analysis
My favorite piece of art is the song Ex Factor by Lauryn Hill. The song is about being in a
relationship that leads to a dead end and just wanting the same amount of love that is put out. I
love this song, not only because it s a good breakup song but because the message is powerful.
Lauryn Hill s song is very relatable, there are a ton of relationships where people know they
shouldn t stay with their partner but couldn t imagine a world without them. They have worked so
hard on trying to perfect the relationship, that they become dependent on that certain individual
and lose their self worth. Even though it kills them inside to be constantly let down they would
rather have it that way than any other way. The chorus of the song says, No matter how I think
we grow you always seem to let me know it ain t workin ... You d hurt yourself to make me stay
this is crazy, this is crazy .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also You d hurt yourself to make me stay means that he panicked and made it seem like he was
going to change just so Hill wouldn t leave. This state of panic and confession of love only
happens when she is on the edge of leaving, but he continues to go right back to his ways soon
after. In the last stanza of the song Hill screams Care for me, care for me! I know you care for
me! There for me, there for me! Said you d be there for me! Cry for me, cry for me! You said
you d die for me! Give to me, give to me! Why won t you live for me?! . This is her breaking
point, all the things she is questioning she does for her significant one unconditionally so it s
heartbreaking when he cannot return the same amount of love. The argument being presented in
this song is that staying doesn t always promise love, dedication and the returned feeling of being

Asphalt Tips
Asphalt is a relatively durable product, which is why it is commonly used on roadways and
driveways. However, without proper maintenance it can give way to cracks or holes.
Fortunately, it is fairly easy to fix these issues as long as you address them quickly. So if you are
interested in fixing a crack or hole in your asphalt, use these three tips to ensure you get good
results: 1. Clean Well Before you do anything, make sure you thoroughly clean the asphalt. Any
loose bits of dirt and debris could ruin your asphalt patch, so clean it very well. Use a broom and
sweep the entire area of the crack of hole. Be sure to sweep the surrounding area as well.
Additionally, you might want to hose down the area to ensure it is clean and free of dirt

Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos Essay
Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music, yet the one
genre that completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over the years rap and rap
music videos have continually become more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been
criticized numerous times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular
genres of music for the younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete
industry filled with clothing and other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women
exists is because rap as a genre that rewards the objectification of women. The excuses used to
justify the misogyny in rap are incomplete and lack accurate support. The most effective way...

A rapper couldn t use a line describing what she did in the movie, let alone film it in a video,
without getting heat for it (Keyes 256). While some may choose to side with this argument, rap
truly takes sexual portrayal of women in both music videos and songs to the next level. In rap
music videos, diamond covered rappers stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance
around them. This is the premise of the majority of rap music videos and both young girls and
boys all over the world see the constant objectification of women in these videos. Naturally this
concerns the parents of these kids, and many critics believes that the images kids see on T.V
directly correlate to their development and thinking: exposure to rap music videos, which is
explicit about sex and violence and rarely shows the potential long term adverse effects of risky
behavior, may influence adolescents by modeling thee unhealthy practices (Thrash). Parents should
become more aware of these videos, and make sure that their young daughters are not watching
them. Yet, once they get to the age where they could be recruited for these videos it is important
that they are educated about this industry. This education should come from the home, but I think
it would also be important to provide workshops for girls about this issue. Since anorexia is such a
problem among girls many companies and organizations put together workshops to educate young
girls. One example of this is Dove s Self Esteem

Guilt In Little Bee By Chris Cleave
The Power of Guilt Everyone has felt a deep sense of regret, this is also known as guilt. The
affects of guilt varies depending on the person who is affected by the feeling and how they cope
with their guilt. Guilt is a very common feeling that can tremendously affect a person. In the
novel Little Bee by Chris Cleave, many incidents occur which reveal various examples of the
possible outcomes guilt can have on a person. Two outcomes of guilt in this novel involve
negative and positive consequences. There has been an incident in my life which also has had a
negative as well as a positive outcome. Not only can the feeling of guilt inspire one in a negative
manner, but also in a positive manner. Most often, guilt leads people towards a negative... Show

When Lawrence and Little Bee converse alone for the first time, Little Bee tells Lawrence that
she is only staying here to help her (Sarah) (pg 185). At first, one would believe that Little Bee
went to Sarah s house because Sarah saves Little Bee s life and so Little Bee feels gratitude
towards her. Also, Sarah is the only person she had contact with in Britain. However, if one
allows themselves to increase their analytical thinking, they are able to discover Little Bee s
reason, after leaving Andrew dead, as to why she wants to stay at Sarah s house . The real
reason, as one would discover, is that Little Bee wants to take care of Sarah and her son, Charlie.
Little Bee leaves Andrew hanging in the air in the fear that if she did call for help from the
neighbours, the police would come and take her back to Nigeria. Little Bee could have ran away
and left to go to a different place after witnessing Andrew s death but she stayed because she felt
a responsibility as a result of the guilt towards Andrew s family. Therefore, she decides to stay in
the house and provide the care and the love Andrew would have wanted to provide them.
Referring back to my story, the guilt I felt had also led me to a positive path. A while after my
mistake of insulting Areej, I wanted to clean up the mess I had made, by helping her feel better. I
was starting casual conversations with her, inviting her to join my

Romeo and Juliet as a Tragedy Essay
Romeo and Juliet as a Tragedy Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy, which was written by William
Shakespeare in 1599. The Elizabethans totally believed in fate, they believed that your destiny
was fated. They also believed that fate was fickle, it could change, one day everything would be
good and the next day things could be really bad. If you challenged fate, it would take up the
challenge. If it wasn t fate there are many more things which could have caused the tragedy; the
feud, this means that everything that happens in Verona ends in violence, Friar Lawrence, shouldn t
have married them and shouldn t have suggested such a dangerous plan, which was playing with
their lives, the Nurse should have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

servant and Juliet is the boss I am the drudge and toil in your delight . Romeo and Juliet meet at
the balcony and Juliet proposes to Romeo, so he goes to the friar to arrange the marriage. The
friar marries them, when he wouldn t normally marry to people from different families because
of the feud but this time he does. He doesn t want to at first, but he changes his mind as he thinks
it may end the quarrel between the two families. But after they have got married; fate seems to
turn against them. During the marriage ceremony Romeo says that now he has married Juliet
nothing can go wrong. This challenges fate. When the fight starts Mercutio and Tybalt are only
messing around but Romeo reminds them about the prince s decree. It is in this fight scene when
fate starts to work against Romeo because when he steps in to stop the fight there is an accident
and Mercutio gets killed. A plague a both your houses! They have made worms meat of me .
Mercutio curses both houses because he also blames Romeo for getting in the way. Romeo should
report this to the prince but instead he starts fighting with Tybalt and this is serious because he
reacts with his emotions and wants revenge. O I am fortunes fool Romeo thinks that fate just wants

Bar Magnets Essay
1.Bar magnet is the simplest form to explain magnetism. Bar magnets are permanent magnets and
this means that they have magnetism all the time, it can t be turned on and it can t be switched off.
They have two poles that include: north seeking pole (N) and south seeking pole (S). These poles
appear to occur in equal and opposite pair. Magnetic meridian is the vertical plane in which the
magnetlies. Magnets are made of materials that can be magnetized, which are also the ones that can
be attracted to magnet, which are called ferromagnetic materials. These include: iron, steel, nickel,
cobalt, some alloys of rare earth metals and some naturally occurring minerals such as lodestone.
Mu metal is a nickel based soft magnetic alloy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Small bar magnets that are responsible for a magnetic behaviour are actually groups of atoms.
Electron particles show magnetic behaviour of their motion each electron has a magnetic moment.
Groups of these atoms form small domains, in which the magnetic moments of the electrons are
aligned with each other. When material is non magnetised the domains are aligned in random way
so their magnetic field cancels each other out.
Properties of a simple bar magnet:
1.Unlike poles of magnet attract each other
2.Like poles of magnet repel each other
3.The force of the attraction of a magnet is greater at its poles than in the middle.
4.If a bar magnet is suspended by a thread and if it is free to rotate, its south pole will move towards
the north pole of the earth and vice versa.
A magnetic field is the magnetic effect of electric currents and magnetic materials. The magnetic
field at any given point is specified by both a direction and a magnitude (or strength); as such it is
a vector field. A magnetic field may be plotted by using a plotting compass to define the lines of
force.
Bar magnet is placed on a sheet of white paper. Starting near one end of the magnet, the positions
of the ends of the compass needle are marked by pencil dots. The compass is then moved until the
near end of the needle is exactly over the dot furthest from the magnet and a

The Issue About The Connection And Complications Of A...
The controversy issue about the connection and complications of a relationship has been in
circulation for ages. The formula for a good marriage is highly in demand, and the failure of a
marriage begins to point fingers at either side. The 50% divorce rate in America is all too high,
which begins to raise questions, who and what is at fault to the failure of these marriages. Is it the
neglect between a husbandand wife, the miscommunication, or ones high expectation of their
significant other? Many problems arise in a marriage, women tend to complain men do not fulfill
their duty as a husband by not communicating, and men feel as if they truly do undertake this need.
This thus creates problems and miscommunication of expectations of either husband or wife.
Nevertheless of the complications that ascend, the fundamental aspect of a marriage is corporative
communication between two partners and understanding each other s needs and establishing a
compromise. Although in Sex, Lies, and Conversation, Tannen declares there is a pervasive
imbalance of expectations of communications between men and women, which leads to many
causalities of marriage, Brady, in I Want a Wife, implies men outrages expectation of women are
the foremost motive for the failure of relationships.
Deborah Tannen, Sex, Lies, and Conversation, explains how there is a virtual epidemic of failed
conversation (424). She gives information about various research of her own and others observing
the behavior and

Illegal Interrogation Of Amanda Knox Analysis
The article The Illegal Interrogation of Amanda Knox shows people through their opinions how
the interrogation was illegal. For example, the article states, Amanda Knox was interrogated
repeatedly in the five days following the murder of Meredith Kercher. They also state that
Amanda consistently told the same story over and over again, repeatedly telling the truth, and
that she was told she could not have a lawyer present. This is bias by omission because they only
look at it as if she is not guilty, and only use their language, they do not provide facts that Amanda
actually continuously told the story over and over again. The article does show videos of the
interrogators using physical force and this is physical evidence of the abuse;... Show more content

Also it goes on to explain more techniques they used, for example they ask the suspect to imagine
hypothetical scenarios by feeding the information that they want the suspect to imagine.
Eventually over a long drawn out interrogation, the suspect gets confused and starts complying
with the request being made to imagine the scenarios. Eventually after the long hours of
interrogation with no food or water Amanda did as she had been told and described an imaginary
scenario where she was in the house covering her ears while hearing the screams of meredith
being murdering. After she described it, the police typed it out and this was Amanda s confession
from being interrogated physically and mentally by 12 Italian police, This source shows extreme
bias against the interrogation in general especially through this statement, by word choice, they
have word choice such as long drawn out interrogation , mind games , all of the language is
completely bias and wants the reader to feel bad for amanda. They do provide videos of Amanda
being physically abused in the interrogation and the things that the police said can be heard
however they only include Amanda s view they do not quote anything from the Italian police or
people that supported the interrogation. They quote nothing positive about the

Biological Factors of Human Relationships
Biological factors are something that contributes hugely to the formation and maintenance of
relationships whether it is romantic, friendly or family related. Many researchers have conducted
studies in which they have attempted to try and explain the link between biological factors and
human relationships. I am going to specifically focus on Bowlby s study on the role of hormones
in bonding, Buss study on women jealousy and its relation to estrogen levels, Fishers study on the
brain and its role in romantic relationships, and Marazziti who studied the effect of serotonin on love
obsession. These studies will help me show the role that biological factors have in human
relationships in both the development and maintenance of them.... Show more content on

The development of a relationship from the first and early stages of love to the more developed
stages, couples tend to move from the passionate love to the more intimate relationship of
relaxation, dependency, and security which all play into attachment. In 1969 Bowlby suggested,
Humans have an innate attachment system which consists of specific behaviours and psychological
responses called attachment behaviours. For his experiment it mainly was conducted for research
on mother child relationships however many believe that the results are relatable to both mother
child and romantic relationships. According to more modern research, it has been shown that both
oxytocin a powerful hormone which is released in men and women during touching and sex which
helps to deepen and intensify the feelings of the select attachment and vasopressin a hormone
released also during sex help in increasing the bond that is between two lovers. Through this it
helps the couples to feel closer and more bonded. One of the main criticisms of this experiment was
the complexity of the researched relationships and how since they didn t consider other factors that
might affect the results, therefore resulting in the possibility that it could be unreliable. However if
looking at just this one aspect, this biological factor can be considered to have an influence on
human relationships both mother child and

Bowl With Arabic Inscription
Bowl with Arabic Inscription, Blessing, prosperity, well being, happiness was crafted by an
anonymous ceramicist in the late 10th 11th century in Nishapur, Iran (present day Uzbekistan,
during the Samanid dynasty). The bowl is on display in Gallery 453 Iran and Central Asia (9th
13 th centuries) in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is 14 inches in diameter and stands 4 1/4
inches high. It is earthenware, a ceramic vessel fired from 900 1200В° centigrade. It has been
treated with a white and polychrome slip, a surface treatment that suspends the vessel in water
while the clay is in the leather hard stage. Most likely the slip was used to change the color of the

Around the interior rim there is a vegetative design contained with in two rims, concentric to each
other as well as to both the shape of the bowl and the rim around the illustration in the center of
the bowl. The emphasis of the drawing is on the two figures s clothing and the vegetation on the
rim. Both of these details have the most variation in value and line, while the background of the
illustration is drawn mostly with contours. The clouds are reduced to thick, expressive lines that
refer to the thickness and energy of the calligraphy on the outer sides of the bowl. A sun or moon
is drawn above the boy and woman s heads in a linear style as well. The calligraphy seems as
though it was painted, rather than written, though refers more directly to the actual Chinese
characters than the Arabic inscription does to Arabic characters on the Islamic bowl. The brush
strokes are visible, expressive, and dynamic. In many ways the writing has much more character

The Diary Of Lady Murasaki
In the essentially dual religious system in Japan, ideologies and traditions play a heavy role in the
everyday life of the Japanese people. Shintoism and Buddhism intertwine and complement
themselves in Japanese culture, despite Buddhism coming in from mainland Asia. A particularly
powerful idea from Buddhismis mono no aware, the realization and acknowledgment of the
impermanence and its place in the world. This idea that nothing stays the same forever
manifests itself heavily in Japanese literature, whether in personal writings or fictional works.
Despite spanning hundreds of years, each work was shaped by and include manifestations of
mono no aware. I intend to underline and pinpoint instances that mono no aware is influencing
these works, and discuss similarities and differences between them. In this paper, I have three
works that I will explore, each one corresponding to a different time period before the pre
industrial revolution; The Diary of Lady Murasaki comes from the classical period, Essays in
Idleness from the medieval, and the immensely popular play Chushingura from the pre modern
era. Kenko, the Buddhist monk and author of Essays in Idleness, took great satisfaction in the idea
of impermanence. A hefty amount of this work deals with Kenko talking about Buddhist values
and the beauty of change. He felt that if man was never to fade like the dews of Adishino, never to
vanish like the smoke over Toribeyama, but lingered forever in the world, how things would

The sunk cost effect is when you feel like you have to get your money s worth no matter the
circumstance or negative outcomes is. The decision is based on future costs and benefits alone. It
is an investment that has already been made and cannot be recovered. Therefore, it is the hard
money we made and paid for to risk the chances of enjoying it or not.
I paid $350 to go on a family reunion in Norfolk, Virginia. When we got on the bus early that

A great example would be books. We read website and blog s and they advertise book s stating
that it gives detail s about how to make fast money and even retire in your 30 s. Therefore,
convincing us to buy the books just to purchase them and tells us thing s we already know. When we
go to the book store we notice a new book saying 100 ways to make a fortune within a month.
Since we already paid for the other book, we are easily convinced that may this could be the right
book that actually gives us real ways to become rich. So then we buy it and still feel like the
information is not enough. We go back to the bookstore and look again. Since we already lost a lot
of money in the other book s we are hoping that eventually we will find that right book with
authentic information to finally know how to make a fortune.
3.Watch a news entertainment show on cable or via the internet for 30 minutes. Pay attention to the

  • 2. The Milky Way Galaxy Essay Many people who live on Earth are close minded to what is really out there in the universe. They cannot even begin to fathom the vastness of it and how Earth is just a tiny little speck compared to everything else out there. From the planets to the stars and out towards the edge of the unknown, we can only see what science provides us with. From this, we know that we are nothing but a tiny planet located in a solar system of millions in a galaxyof many more in the universe. A galaxy, also called a nebula, consists of billions of stars, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter which are all bound to form a massive cloud in which we live in. Although it cannot be very well explained, dark matter makes up at least 90% of a galaxy s mass.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once microwave radiation was discovered, studies improved on the Milky Way Galaxy. Its Doppler Shift can be used to map the motion of gas in it. Also, with radio telescopes, hydrogen gas can now be traced. When the Hubble Space Telescope was introduced in 1990, that made exploring space so much easier and more efficient. That s how we discovered so much about our universe including galaxies! The Milky Way received its name from the milky, white band of stars that go across the celestial sphere visible from Earth. However, in Greek mythology, it is said that Zeus placed his mortal son, Heracles on Hera s breast while she was asleep so the baby could breastfeed to become immortal. When she had awoken to a strange baby feeding off of her, she pushed Heracles away and a stream of milk sprayed through the night sky forming the Milky Way. It is estimated that about 200 to 400 billion stars are located within the galaxy. The Milky Way is also one of the larger galaxies that have a circumference of about 300 thousand light years! There are many types and morphologies of galaxies. First, there are elliptical galaxies which have elongated structures, like an ellipse. • 4. Ambition in Hamlet by Williams Shakespeare The dictionary defines personal ambition as An earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honour, fame, or wealth and the willingness to strive for its attainment . (Dictionary.com) One could argue that too much ambition can be a negative trait. By placing such an emphasis on personal ambition it causes some to push their loved ones away in order to achieve what they want. Within most people, unhappiness is a common feeling and in extreme results, it leads to death. A severe incident which takes place between Boy and Leola is when Boy gives Dunny a number of reels of film, and asks him to develop them for him. At first, this seems a harmful favour, but when Dunny realizes that those reels contain naked pictures of Leola, it embarrasses as well as angers him to a great extent. Is this true today? Before the Sixteenth century mission was used to describe relationships within the holy Trinity. It was not used to describe an aspect of church life. The word missio in Latin means to send , it was used to describe the sending of the Son by the Father, and also the sending of the Holy Spirit by the Father and the Son. 1. At that time Barth was teaching in Germany and knew very well what the rise of the Nazis meant for Europe. After the war, in 1952, when the churches were once again contemplating a renewal of mission at the Willingen Conference of the International Missionary Council in 1952, Barth s influence took hold and his insight was expressed and developed in the conference resolution. It makes an explicit and important connection between church missionary work and the nature of God as Trinity: The missionary movement of which we are a part has its source in the Triune God himself. Out of the depths of his love for us, the Father has sent forth his own beloved Son to reconcile all things to himself. We who have been chosen in Christ are committed to full participation in his redeeming mission. There is no participation in Christ without participation in his mission to the world. That by which the Church receives its existence is that by which it is also given its world mission. 4. • 10. Themes Of Japan s Indigenous Religion THEMES Japan s indigenous religion is ShintЕЌ, and its customs are enmeshed in Japanese culture. It is animistic, seeing gods and spirits in everything. This leads to a deep respect for human harmony with the environment. Many Ghibli films contain jinja, or shrines, and torii, or sacred gates, which are used to pay respect or give offerings in ShintЕЌism. Ghibli films also contain kami, spirits that reside in all things. Princess Mononoke is filled with a kami (Odell 28). Other Japanese mythology is seen through Miyazaki films through spirits that have the ability to transform their shape, such as the foxes and raccoons in Pom Poko. Buddhism also influences Miyazaki films. Dragons derive from Buddhist legends and are in Spirited Away. Buddhist statues are also seen in My Neighbor Totoro, and Pom Poko (Odell 28). All of his movies contain variations of spirits, demons, or fantastical creatures rooted in nature. There is a balance of empathy through his human elements, but mystery in his fantasy elements. One major theme that runs through all Miyazaki films is environmentalism, or how mankind interacts with nature. This is closely linked with the ShintЕЌ ethic that sees the environment as interconnected beings that deserve respect. In Princess Mononoke, the center of the plot is focused on the conflict between humans destroying the forest and the gods and spirits who are fighting back. The Allende Governance A New Governance Essay After the fall of the Allende governance a new governance was applied which led to rise of free market economy through the use of different reforms like privatization and deregulation. With low level of understanding in economics Pinochet hired economists who were tasked with freeing the economy from the previous destruction caused by socialists. According to De Haan by 1970 Chile recorded least freedom in its economy (De Haan et al 220). But later the economy started experiencing major growth from 1980s which increased economic growth from7.2 percent compared to other countries in South America. While the country economic progress has received international recognition, their development hasn t been easy as it has faced major critical moments to their economic success. For example during the 1982 recession the gross domestic product dropped by 14.1 % which resulted to overvaluation of their currency which made the currency more vulnerable to harsh changes in international economy. This changes led to decrease in capital which decreased availability of finance meant to finance investments. According to Buchi this led to an increase in unemployment by 23% and decrease in salaries and wages by over 10% (Buchi 10). • 12. A Brief Note On Sweden And Finland And Sweden Most developed countries have suffered through at least one financial crisis. The term financial crisis is in itself very broad and applies to a various number of situations in which financial institutions or financial assets rapidly decrease in value. In the late 1980 s and early 1990 s, the Scandinavian countries along with Finland all faced rather serious financial crises, but the outcomes differed vastly among the nations as Denmark and Swedenpushed through to fairly satisfactory results, but Norway and Finland suffered greater complications. No nation s crisis was identical to another s and perhaps thereof the different outcomes, but what other factors played a role in deciding a nation s fate. To better compare and analyze, the focus of this paper will be placed on simply two of the nations involved Sweden and Finland , two nations bordering each other, with a great many similarities but two very different outcomes from respective crisis and how they handled their respective issues, and what can be used for future reference. American economist Richard G. Anderson (2009) has previously touched briefly on some of the similarities among the Scandinavian nations crises, specifically referring to a common two stage sequence in each of the countries. The two stage sequence, as Anderson explains, included rapidly increasing economic growth accompanied by financial liberalization along with the introduction of new financial instruments, followed by sharp ... There are also many words and phrases that Wordsworth included into his poem that shows how he feels about nature. These phrases are well written, extremely descriptive, and show how Wordsworth is influenced by the wild: I wandered lonely as a cloud , When all at once I saw a crowd, a host, of golden daffodils , Continuous as the stars that shine and twinkle on the milky way, they stretched in never ending line along the margin of a bay: ten thousand saw I at a glance, tossing their heads in sprightly dance , The waves beside them danced; but they out did the sparkling waves in glee , I gazed and gazed but little thought what wealth the show to me had brought , and For oft, when on my couch I lie in vacant or in pensive mood, they flash upon that inward eye [...] and then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with the daffodils. Another phrase, which indicates that the flowers were so beautiful that no true poet could be sad in their presence, also builds upon Wordsworth s relationship with nature. After all, Jews have been intricately involved in American culture and history almost from the beginning of America. This melding of the Jewish culture into popular American culture is shown in many ways. For example, many Yiddish words are part of American colloquial English. Shalom is a Hebrew word that is commonly used by Jewish people to mean peace , hello , or good bye (Bralock Padgham, 2017, p. 513). Shalom may be a common Jewish word, but it has been read, heard, and even used by non Jews. In fact, a number of Yiddish words have made it into popular and colloquial English usage. These include words such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 514). My interviewee, Elyssa, a young Jewish woman of twenty eight, however believes that this generality is not true of the younger generation of Jews who tend to be more reserved with their demeanor, expressing themselves more with a sense of humor and sarcasm. According to Culture Vision (n.d.) Jewish dogma teaches that It is everyone s duty to maintain and preserve his or her own good health (both physical and mental) . This does not mean that even Orthodox Jews avoid medical assistance. It merely means that their approach may be limited by Jewish beliefs. For example, Elyssa states, more religious Jews may want to consult a rabbi with certain medical decisions, especially if more ethically questionable. Also, even Jewish people who strictly observe the Sabbath are able to break it for life saving measures. However, the needed medical treatment is not lifesaving they may well refuse to participate in it on the Jewish Sabbath. For example, a patient in the hospital might prefer to delay a test or even a procedure if it is not literally emergent and likely necessary to preserve life and health permanently (E. Jankelovitz, person communication, January 20, 2017). Despite this it is important to remember that Jewish people not only want immediate relief during illness but also worry about what the ... Many times Estella tries to explain to Pip that she is incapable of loving him. One time she says, We have no choice, you and I, but to obey our instructions. We are not free to follow our own devices, you and I. (266). Estella comprehends that she is a puppet in what is considered a greater plan. She is not free to do what she pleases because she is under Miss Havisham s influence and her instructions to break hearts and not to care about the feelings and pain she brings. Hence, Miss Havisham lived through Estella in order to hurt as many men as possible. In Great Expectations, the male character, by the name of Abel Magwitch, also lives his life through someone else. The dog is a breed called the Xoloitzcuintli, which are believed to be spiritual protectors in Mexican culture. In Coco, Dante shows this through guiding Miguel through the Land of the Dead and making him meet Hector, who turns out to be the twelve year old protagonist s great great grandfather. The valuable breed is also said to be able to travel between the Land of the Dead and the Land of the Living, which is exactly what Dante does in Coco by journeying with Miguel. Pixar also shows alebrijes; colorful animals in Mexican folk art; in Coco. Every single alebrije in Mexican artistry is different, usually representing the artist who created the beast.3 Even this is shown in Coco, as every single citizen of the Land of the Dead has a different animal, sometimes being porcupines, wolves, and even a flying tiger. The only thing different about Pixar s alebrijes are that they serve as spirit guides in the Land of the Dead, which is not believed in Mexican culture. Melville is known for having a reputation that s extremely interesting because it has unusually sharp contrast and because it permits to the complicated process going on all around us at the present moment (Riegel). Melville uses a narrator in this story and describes himself as an unambitious lawyer who owns a small officeon WallStreet and his primary focuses in life are financial stability and simplicity. After he describes himself, the narrator starts giving details on the surroundings of his work place and three other workers around him. The narrator becomes mesmerized by one of the three workers around him, Bartleby, for his unexplainable actions in which he refuses to work. Melville, at first, portrays Bartleby as a hardworking person who later refuses to work upon command and even lies unresponsive on the ground to die. Melville s purpose of Bartleby s sudden change in motivation is to show the dreary, repeatable atmosphere of the bureaucratic American society in the 1850 s. • 25. Motion and Car Safety Motion is how everything in the universe moves, movement of the solar system never stops and is constantly moving but at a very slow speed. There are three laws in motion that explain movement, they are the Newton s three laws of motion named after Isaac Newton. The Newton s first law states that an object that is a rest will stay at rest unless an outside force is acted upon it and an object that is in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force is acted upon it. This is also called as inertia , which means the property of an object to restrict its motion. Examples of inertia would be when a car is driving at a constant speed and instantly stops the person will fall forward if there is no seat belt. The seat belt is a safety device that is commonly found on car seats and aircraft seats, it is made from strong durable materials such as fabric, nylon or polyester. Cars that are manufactured are required to have seat belts due to road safety laws. The law was introduced in the 1970s, it was shown that having seat belts reduced the amount of road deaths. The seat belt was invented by George Cayley in the late 1800 s, the seat belt appeared on planes in the early 1900 s but was later developed to a three point seat belt by Nils Bohlin. The purpose of seat belts is to restrain the forward motion that occurs during an accident, which may end up saving the person s life or preventing serious injuries. In many Disney movies there were hidden aspects children mainly did not notice like gender roles and social expectations. Even though children may not realize the social expectations aspect incorporated into movies they still absorb those lessons like a sponge. They learn these aspects by seeing them as role models, they have the desire to become that person. For an example, during Halloween we see hundreds of little girls dressing up like their favorite princess. They see these princesses as role models since little girls can relate them to by gender. Depending on what the princess portrays in the movie determines the outcome if it is beneficial or flawed characteristics that the child may take up. Like in early Disney movies the princesses were the damsel that were saved by the prince but a different scenario is produced in Mulan. Tennyson s In Memoriam Essay Tennyson s In Memoriam In Memoriam is an elegy to Tennyson s friend Arthur Hallam, but bears the hallmark of its mid nineteenth century context, the locus classicus of the science and religion debate. Upon reflection, Hallam s tragic death has proved to be an event that provoked Tennysons embarkation upon a much more ambitious poetic project than conventional Miltonian elegy, involving meditation upon the profoundest questions faced by mankind. By personifying Nature and placing ?her? in opposition to God as a distinct power, Tennyson seems to imply a polytheistic belief that two, not one, seats of power exist. In these passages it seems that Tennyson perceives Nature to have greater influence over Earth and mankind. At the close of LV, God appears as distant and hidden in darkness, leaving man in a state analogous with that of a child ? weak, vulnerable and desirous of care: he falls ?upon the great world?s altar stairs That slope thro? darkness up to God,? (lines 14 15). Metaphorically darkness represents the secrecy surrounding God and the answers that he holds, a motif that is reprised at the close of LVI: ?behind the veil, behind the veil.? The repetition of the clause emphasises Tennyson?s frustrations. Indeed God seems so distant and hidden that Tennyson?s faith in his existence is weakened and he is only able to ?feel? and ?faintly trust,? not resolutely know. The lack of conviction conveyed here through Tennyson?s semantic choices illustrates an emergence of disillusion with eutheistic belief. The existence of the Christian conception of a loving god is called into question, and it is implicitly asserted that the conception of Nature conveyed in these passages may be the true, ditheistic, conception of God. Port Moresby was an extremely important tactical position for both allied forces and the Japanese; as it would allow Japan to fulfil Operation FS and allow allied forces to attack north over the Kokoda trail towards the Japanese base at Rabaul (Austrialian Goverment: Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). Through the completion of Operation FS, the Japanese would be able to throttle Australia into submission by cutting off communication and supply lines with the US , they planned to do so through the gradual extension of Japanese control over the islands in the South East Pacific around continental Australia (Pacific War Historical Society, n.d.). Immigrants have been the back bone of what made America great. This country is supposed to be the land of opportunity. For the people that come here that is all that they hear. Wanting a fresh start from whatever country they came from. The NASW (2015) said that Immigrationhas increased rapidly in the 1990s, with more than 13 million people moved to the United States(p.176). Assimilation was a complex and a resistant concept to gravel for some Jewish immigrants. This was the case for Jake s wife Gitl. When Jake goes to Ellis Island to pick up his wife, Gitl and son Yossele, he seems to be disgusted to see his old world wife and son. He has adapted to American customs and views his wife s physical appearance as being backward. Jake states to his wife, In America, you don t wear wigs...kerchiefs. This challenges Gitl s traditional values. She wanted to maintain her cultural identity of the old world. She states, I can t go around in my own hair like a gentile. Jake nevertheless, refuses to keep any traditional practices of the old country, which put Girl in a difficult position. Residential Sprinkler System Analysis When we talk about land developers and building contractors in the residential market, we first have to understand what target they are going after when dealing with water sprinklers. Then on the other hand we have these custom built homes, which run from around 2000 to no limit of square feet according to the individual specification. • 39. Ex Factor Lauryn Hill Analysis My favorite piece of art is the song Ex Factor by Lauryn Hill. The song is about being in a relationship that leads to a dead end and just wanting the same amount of love that is put out. I love this song, not only because it s a good breakup song but because the message is powerful. Lauryn Hill s song is very relatable, there are a ton of relationships where people know they shouldn t stay with their partner but couldn t imagine a world without them. They have worked so hard on trying to perfect the relationship, that they become dependent on that certain individual and lose their self worth. Even though it kills them inside to be constantly let down they would rather have it that way than any other way. The chorus of the song says, No matter how I think we grow you always seem to let me know it ain t workin ... You d hurt yourself to make me stay this is crazy, this is crazy .... In the last stanza of the song Hill screams Care for me, care for me! I know you care for me! There for me, there for me! Said you d be there for me! Cry for me, cry for me! You said you d die for me! Give to me, give to me! Why won t you live for me?! . Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos Essay Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music, yet the one genre that completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over the years rap and rap music videos have continually become more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been criticized numerous times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular genres of music for the younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with clothing and other merchandise. While some may choose to side with this argument, rap truly takes sexual portrayal of women in both music videos and songs to the next level. In rap music videos, diamond covered rappers stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance around them. This is the premise of the majority of rap music videos and both young girls and boys all over the world see the constant objectification of women in these videos. Naturally this concerns the parents of these kids, and many critics believes that the images kids see on T.V directly correlate to their development and thinking: exposure to rap music videos, which is explicit about sex and violence and rarely shows the potential long term adverse effects of risky behavior, may influence adolescents by modeling thee unhealthy practices (Thrash). They have two poles that include: north seeking pole (N) and south seeking pole (S). These poles appear to occur in equal and opposite pair. Magnetic meridian is the vertical plane in which the magnetlies. Magnets are made of materials that can be magnetized, which are also the ones that can be attracted to magnet, which are called ferromagnetic materials. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Small bar magnets that are responsible for a magnetic behaviour are actually groups of atoms. Electron particles show magnetic behaviour of their motion each electron has a magnetic moment. Groups of these atoms form small domains, in which the magnetic moments of the electrons are aligned with each other. When material is non magnetised the domains are aligned in random way so their magnetic field cancels each other out. Properties of a simple bar magnet: 1.Unlike poles of magnet attract each other 2.Like poles of magnet repel each other 3.The force of the attraction of a magnet is greater at its poles than in the middle. 4.If a bar magnet is suspended by a thread and if it is free to rotate, its south pole will move towards the north pole of the earth and vice versa. A magnetic field is the magnetic effect of electric currents and magnetic materials. The magnetic field at any given point is specified by both a direction and a magnitude (or strength); as such it is a vector field. A magnetic field may be plotted by using a plotting compass to define the lines of force. Bar magnet is placed on a sheet of white paper. • 46. The Issue About The Connection And Complications Of A... The controversy issue about the connection and complications of a relationship has been in circulation for ages. The formula for a good marriage is highly in demand, and the failure of a marriage begins to point fingers at either side. The 50% divorce rate in America is all too high, which begins to raise questions, who and what is at fault to the failure of these marriages. Is it the neglect between a husbandand wife, the miscommunication, or ones high expectation of their significant other? Many problems arise in a marriage, women tend to complain men do not fulfill their duty as a husband by not communicating, and men feel as if they truly do undertake this need. This thus creates problems and miscommunication of expectations of either husband or wife. Nevertheless of the complications that ascend, the fundamental aspect of a marriage is corporative communication between two partners and understanding each other s needs and establishing a compromise. Although in Sex, Lies, and Conversation, Tannen declares there is a pervasive imbalance of expectations of communications between men and women, which leads to many causalities of marriage, Brady, in I Want a Wife, implies men outrages expectation of women are the foremost motive for the failure of relationships.
