Christian Compounding Defects
It is common knowledge in the building industry that the most important part of a new building
structure, is the foundation. Inasmuch as, any mistakes in it, only gets worst as you begin to build up.
Consequently, there s a term in the industry known as, Compounding Defects, which simply means
that the mistakes will grow when building upward. Similarly, Jesus, being the Good Shepherd that He
is, warned of three things that could cause serious defects. Furthermore, these defects mentioned in
Matthew 7, have the potential to affect the lives of Christians. Additionally, if Christians, try to build
with these defective materials in their lives, it will be quite difficult to stand when the storms of life
hit. Matthew 7:1 says: Judge

Can Presidential Systems Work Effectively Within Deeply...

Can presidential systems work effectively in deeply divided societies? [Make reference to at least two
cases of your choosing.]
Thesis Statement
Presidentialism is a system of government in which the president is elected both chief executives and
as head of government (Ogelsby Suárez, 1968) and is the main system of democratic government
apart from parliamentary systems. Presidential systems tend to centralise priorities of the government
to stabilise society. Normally, they are classed into separate regions of power; where the executive,
legislative and judicial branches of government are dependent on one another and cannot work
effectively in deeply divided societies. This argument is ruled by the fact that they are 1) divisive,
causing isolation between ethnoreligious groups. Elites are prioritised over minority working class
groups and 2) inherently majoritarian, as only a single position is given causing proportionality to
become impossible. In places such as Latin America and Northern Ireland, we see the ways in which
these theories have proven ineffectiveness. However, presidential systems aim to separate powers in
order to protect citizens rights and deter abuse of power for good governance overall. Through this
presidential systems, however, have quick decisiveness in resolving societal issues. Without effective
separation; executive, legislative and judicial powers,

Language and Identity Are Inextricably Linked. How Is This...
There are many indicators of identity by which we are made known individually, socially and
culturally; the best of these would be language and how it has shown great flexibility in
accommodating the needs of people. Through language people have been able to establish their
identities and cultivate friendships with others who share the same common ground. By looking at
accents such as Broad Australian English, slang and phonological features as they apply to Australian
varieties, we can see how it has forged solidarity and assisted in creating an identity on an individual
and national scale.
Broad Australian English (BAE) is a language variety unique to Australia. Despite being spoken by a
minority of Australian population today, it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Identity is formed through the mutual trends of a group through slang and is used as identification for
users who have these lexical features in common. The shortening of the lexeme whatever to whatevz
or the reduplication and shortening of crazy to cray cray are words that have appealed to young
Australian teenagers. Through use of diminutives, identity can be further formed as they are uniquely
Australian, where lexemes are shortened to a syllable and the suffix of ie, y or o is added like smoko
for smoking, devo for devastated and bottle o for a liquor store. The use of slang like this enhances our
identity and care free nature that helps us understand phrases like I m devo that brekky at Maccas is
done . This way slang builds certain characteristics that are known to Australians in the same way
phonological features have.
A recent phonological development in Australian English displays a difference between younger and
older generations through the High Rising Terminal (HRT) which is a rising intonation contour on
declarative clauses. The intonation pattern is considered a distinctive feature of Australian English and
shows how speakers carry themselves as a person. HRT is used primarily by the younger
demographics in Australia, in particular female speakers and has been criticised often, deeming it as a
marker of insecurity. However as researchers now point out,

RC F Advertisement Analysis Essay
What is perfection? Perfection is a process and plays a vital role in this advertisement. The 2016
Lexus RC F stands for perfection, which the car manufacturer highlights in this ad. This advertisement
was from a February 2016 issue of Motor Trend on a website called Issuu. In this ad, there are three
photos of the car from the top, wheel close up, and rear views. In the pursuit to go beyond perfection,
the RC F is engineered to showcase a highly capable vehicle to a higher performance standard. In an
everyday world, Lexus is conveying that power and the desire to go fast are strengths. Lexus wants
consumers to know that this message is not only possible but also admirable. Through several visual
elements, Lexus makes consumers yearn for a car that is worth owning. Overall, the advertisers were
successful in presenting this concept. To begin with, by looking at the textual element of the RC F
advertisement, one can understand the features and attitude of the car. One part of the ad is on top of
the page in a big, Helvetica white font. The phrase in the ad, A 467 horsepower line in the sand could
be defined as a car that has great speed and precision. The line in the sand can be like leaving a mark

The final shot includes a rear view of the vehicle. The car looks like it is slightly tilted to the left and
the rear portion is pointing upward to the right. This imagery can lead the viewer s eyes into the next
image. As a whole, the RC F advertisement is a puzzle with multiple parts. As shown above, Lexus is

Allegory Of The Cave Essay
Allegory of the cave is an allegory written by Plato while in Greece in the Classical age. It describes
the concept of reality and enlightenment through the point of view of prisoners in a cave. The allegory
describes how the prisoners have been chained their whole lives and can only see shadows. It
describes how one of the prisoners is freed and goes outside and realizes how everything he knew was
a lie. He becomes enlightened and returns to the cave only to be met with ridicule and resistance from
the other prisoners. In the ¨Allegory of the Cave¨, the author attempts to teach us how people reject
change and detest it through the use of imagery, moral conflicts, and symbolism.
To begin, Plato uses imagery to convey the message that people reject change because they have ...

had to engage in the business of asserting and maintaining opinions about the shadows while his eyes

would he not then be exposed to ridicule down there? And would they not let him know that he had

does not pay to go up. And if they can get hold of this person who takes it in hand to free them from
their chains and to lead them up, and if they could kill him, will they not actually kill him ? This
excerpt highlights the conflict that arises when the freed prisoner tries to return and enlighten the
chained prisoners. Once the freed prisoner returns, the other s reject and ridicule his knowledge. This
is due to the fact that the chained prisoners don t want to change their way of thinking because they
feel comfort. They do not want to take the risk going into the

The Importance of Uk Visitor Attractions to Tourism. Essay...
Task 1 Report 4
I am writing a report explaining the importance of UK visitor attractions to tourism. In my report I
will be including statistics and data to support my explanation.
Attracting Visitors from overseas
For overseas visitors, United Kingdom is a popular destination. This is because the UK has cultural
and heritage attractions that appeals to the overseas visitors. Overseas visitor attractions have to be
aware of the overseas markets that are 67%, as they have to make sure that their marketing activities
are attracting the overseas visitors.

A Short Story Of The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
The Triangle shirtwaist factory fire on March 25, 1911, was one of the worst tragedies ever back then,
causing the death of 146 workers. This company was owned by Max Blank and Isaac Harris. They had
a little shop by 1900 and it grew quickly, they moved their business to the ninth floor of the new ten
story Asch building. There were approximately 500 workers, mostly immigrant women, worked at the
Triangle shirtwaist company. Bessie Cohen, who survived was inside the building and wrote a short
story of what had happened. Most women either died from the fire or jumped from a high height.
They jumped because the fire trucks ladders could only reach up to seventh floor. The doors were
locked to prevent workers from stealing or leaving, thus, they had no escape. According to fire
marshal, cigarettes were the cause of the fire. Cotton is even more flammable than paper, more like
explosively. Plus, the factory had woods and there were oxygen. After the fire, they had an
investigation. Max Blanck and Isaac Harris was the owner of the Triangle shirtwaist factory. They
emigrated from Russia and met in the United States. By 1900 they had a little shop and it grew up
quickly that they moved their business into Asch Building in the 8th floor then they moved to the tenth
floor. There were approximately 500 people, mostly women who worked at the Triangle Waist

Summary Of The Documentary FRESH By Ana Sofia Joanes
FRESH is a documentary by Ana Sofia Joanes, she explores the consequences of our current
agricultural system and documents the work of farmers, activists, non profit organizations and
business that advocate for sustainable agricultural practices to address the problem. The film presents
the farmers from Shenandoah Valley that practice traditional farming by raising and keeping their
chickens, pigs, cattle and soil in traditional ways that attempt to imitate the way in which nature
naturally works on nutrient and energy cycling. These practices challenge the industrial agricultural
model that use a high input of resources to produce large amounts of a single crops/species in

For example, the film presents the counterproductive result of feeding cows with contained brains of
infected cows that spread a deadly disease through the cattle known as the mad cow disease . This
type of intensive farming is characterized by its use of antibiotics and pesticides that cost higher prices
for farmers. Some farmers turn into the industrial farming not always by choice but for companies that
own or influence those intense farming practices. There is two agribusiness that has a monopoly the
market by selling agricultural technologies to farmers such as pesticides, GMO, and fertilizers that
often influence the public policy and farming practices. This system is unsustainable and produces
cheap food products which cost is not included in the market but people end up paying for due to the
externalities on health, social and environmental problems. As the documentary highly at the start,
Americans hate the most the inconvenience of things and therefore some people take for granted their

Analysis Of Augustine s Augustine
Augustine is a sixteen year old boy, like all sixteen year olds he is going through puberty and trying to
figure out what love is. Augustine states, For as I became a youth, I longed to be satisfied with worldly
things, and I dared to grow wild in a succession of various and shadowy loves (24). Any young adult
experiences the same things that Augustine is going through. Augustine struggled with knowing the
difference between pure affection and unholy desire. He becomes ashamed of himself and goes into a
spiral of sorrow. In chapter one Augustine says, If only there had been someone to regulate my
disorder and turn to my profit the fleeting beauties of the things around me (24). Like all teenagers
their parents try and tell them right from wrong but most teenagers have to learn from there own
mistakes. Augustine reflects back on a quote from Apostle Paul. He realizes if he had just listened to
the words more closely, he would not be in the trouble that he is in. Augustine turns to the Lord and
ask what can I do and why did I do this? His parents want him to learn from his mistakes and they tell
him he should make a powerful speech and become a persuasive orator. While his studies were
interrupted, he had come back from a city to further his education at Carthage. His father supported
him in everything even though he did not have a lot of money. Augustine s parents told him he only
had to be good at speaking. Augustine still lived with his parents and one day his father

Alien Of The Deep Sea
The documentary Alien of the Deep Sea presented us with six different experiments aimed at studying
different aspects of octopuses intelligence. I will focus on just one of those experiments and attempt to
apply Jackendoff s First Fundamental Argument which argues that a language user s mind can be
viewed as an internal computational system containing unconscious set of rules. Camouflage being
one of the most impressive aspects of octopuses intelligence, scientists under the direction of Antonio
P. Cribeiro, conducted an exercise designed to see to what extent the skin of octopuses was capable to
adapt to its surroundings. The experiment was divided into three parts: First, a few octopuses were
introduced to a closed glass box (in full view of potential predators) containing items such as rocks,
sand, and algae which are found in their natural environments. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in the
octopuses adapting effortlessly to their surroundings. Then, the items inside the glass box were
replaced by a piece of canvas printed with a geometric pattern, something that an octopus would never
encounter in its natural habitat. The colors of the canvas were not random, however, but corresponded
to the pigmentation abilities of octopuses. Once again, the octopuses easily completed the task.
Finally, the geometric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that the octopus was faced with something that it had never encountered before and yet
managed to adjust means that our initial conclusion is wrong: it cannot simply be down to learned
behavior. In this case, the novel geometric canvas is to the octopus what a never heard sentence is to
us. It turns out, an octopus has its own way of dealing with the variety present in its environment, as
long as it fits in with its pigmentation abilities, the same way we have ways to deal with the expressive

Two basic types of fireworks are the firecracker and sparkler. Firecrackers are simply made of rolled
paper tubes with black powder, which is made of a strong oxider, and a fuse, which adds heat to the

black powder around it, so they stay lit longer and show color. The color comes from a reaction with
specific metals like aluminium, copper, and zinc(How Are Fireworks Made?). The fireworks that most

For the theme park industry on the Gold Coast this low level of power held by the roller coaster

the fact that there is large competition between the suppliers due to their numbers. The profitability of
the theme park industry on the Gold Coast can also be impacted by the bargaining power of buyers
(Hubbard, Rice Beamish 2008; Porter 1980). One factor where the bargaining power of buyers is low
is the industry concentration relative to buyer concentration. The theme park industry on the Gold
Coast is quite large with seven theme parks located within the region; however these seven parks are
owned by only two companies; Macquarie Leisure Trust Group and Village Roadshow (Roller Coaster

Thomas Haitian Revolution Analysis
Shady Kamel
Second Revolutions: Thomas Jefferson and Haiti Beginning in 1789, France s political landscape was
completely transformed by the chaotic bloodshed that resulted from the country s absolute monarchy
and feudal system. Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on the verge of
bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon after. Impacted by
the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the strength of the will of
the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of its citizens.
Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter society and the
social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor James Alexander Dun
argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this instance, and is in fact used as
an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to the situation. He believes that a
revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the Haitian revolution is more complex
than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn t be viewed as a thing, but rather,
should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion as it challenges conventional
thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with France and Haiti. This reasoning
expands upon the words adaptability and was necessary

Motivation Of Professionalism And Success

Motivation to Professionalism Student professionalism and success are required to work together to
motivate the student to be an efficient employee in the future. I am a good example of a student in
progress because I always arrive on time to my classes or work; follow any directions from my
professors or employers, and follow ethics that influence my professional behavior towards other
individuals. These ideas and ethics will benefit me in the future because it will satisfy the
requirements of employers and will assist me in to obtaining promotions. Professionalism and success
is what humans need to survive in modern society. As you read, you will need a basic understanding
of ethics and what do they propose towards professionalism. My ethics allowed me to be a great
example of student success because every day is one step closer to my educational goals. In order to
reach my educational goals, I must follow three simple expectations; arrive on time to class and work
to be prepared for assignments and tasks provided by the professor or supervisor. When I follow my
ethics, it allows me to behave professionally and accomplish my responsibilities as they come and go.
For professional behavior, my definition for student success has now expanded beyond the
achievement of goals into a larger realization that success is interdependent and systemic. It doesn t
begin and end with the individual or even two individuals.

obligation to the Beast. When she puts on her robe of fur, she becomes her own beast, showing a
parallel between her and the Beast.
Beauty undergoes a physical alteration essential for her negative transformation, due to her
susceptibility to corruptibility. Since she was learning at the end of her adolescence, how to be a
spoiled child and that pearly skin of hers was plumping out, a little, with high living and compliments

the Beast has come to collect her. She acts as a supplementary element, who offers companionship to
the Beast. She is a loyal hybrid figure, half human half beast and despite being, [a] well brushed,
jewelled dog (49) she demonstrates human capacity for compassion,

Platinum Rule Disc Assessment Paper
Personalities are reflections of who people truly are at their core. This past week each team member
completed a DISC Platinum RuleTM Behavioral Assessment. As stated in the assigned reading, this
assessment provides its users with the tools for becoming a better person, the ability to behave more
maturely and productively, and to be more successful. Recognition of different personality styles are
observed as each team member completes the assessment. All patterns may not work for everyone.
However, these patterns are valuable to building relationships. The Platinum RuleTM identifies four
main behavioral styles and 16 sub styles. Explanations of the main behavioral styles are listed as
follows:

When under pressure this character has the tendency to force fit solutions when instead they should
take the time to analyze their position and relax. This personality type has many positive leadership
traits and is a very good description of the dominance style. In contrast to Marina, Bernadette s
assessment placed her in the Interactive main style and the Enthusiast sub style. This combination is
labeled the Id or the driving expressive. The motivational objective of the enthusiast is to influence
people. This character is very authoritative and enjoys the symbol of prestige. The enthusiast needs a
wide range of independent roaming because they become uncomfortable with confinement or
restriction of freedom. Unlike the adventurer, when the enthusiast is under pressure they tend to
become soft or evasive to their situation. The big picture with the open mind to new opportunity is
constantly a residing factor for the enthusiast. Similar to the director in confidence levels; criticism is
not a road block in the path of endeavors and a positive attitude is ever present. In addition to
Bernadette, Erin and Krystle s assessments also placed them in the Interactive main style. However,
both Erin and Krystle also had results that indicated the sub style, the Impresser or Ic. This particular
combination is described as a thinking socializer or analytical expressive. The description of traits

These problems have arisen due to the decentralized operational structure of the company. The IT
initiatives in this regards have been 1) ERP development and deployment and 2) Data warehousing
effort. But even with such initiative from SYSCO, management still had problems with monitoring
and comparing performance across the organization.
The lack of knowledge from employees has been a big setback to act as well as having the right
information for decision making. Although, SYSCO had made efforts for data warehousing, the
organization lack of expertise to extract this data from the data warehouse. Although Ms. Day had
Directors approval, user resistance is one big barrier to BI success. Other barriers include having
irrelevant data and poor data quality. Another issue was that each operating companies already has
their own BI application but now they are being force to share such data. As for personal experience,
if a company has worked for so many years in a decentralized process, users are reluctant to share full
information. This share attitude needs to be brought out as a main focus to be able to acquire the data
and to answer the main problems of the organization.
Information Quality
The value of Business Intelligence increases as the delivery of information is embedded in the
processes and systems of the enterprise which results from all data being store for end users. The BI

SAF Resonds with Transformations to Higher Expectations...
Background
The SAF is undergoing 3rd Generation Army learning transformations, where the learning
environment needs to respond to the high rise in expectation of the new tech savvy generation in the
SAF. The new generation cadets are increasingly exposed to the latest technology and new complex
learning methods in school and the society. In order to engage and train these new batches of cadets,
an efficient and effective pedagogical approach has to be developed to facilitate the upcoming learning
transformation and to support active learning among the cadets. Traditional methods of teaching are
slowly being replaced with the integration of new mobile technologies to develop the cadets capacity
and ability to learn beyond pedagogical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second part of the training, the cadets will be having hands on session where they will be
practicing with their peers. Practical was carried out to allow the cadets to practice on what they had
learned during the lecture. The cadets had to pay close attention on what the instructor was doing
before they start on their hands on session. As the cadets do not have much prior knowledge in the
usage of tools other than the demonstration provide by them during the lecture they attended earlier,
they are unable to perform as effectively.
The existing reference materials for the students are printed in hardcopy and cadets need to spend time
searching for the relevant reference. Some reference shows only still pictures and most of the notes
given are in black and white. These information does not really help the cadets much in understanding
the procedure to be done for each basic first aid.
Reason for enhance
In order to trigger the interest of the cadets in learning and to be able for them to practice and learn on
their own before attending the class, flipped classroom practice was suggested. In this case, the cadets
will be studying on the courseware created before attending the class and instructors will be offering
more personal guidance and interaction with the cadets instead of having long hours of lectures. After
the lesson, cadets will require to do feedback on the stuff that they had learned through online forum.

lot of historical information that was unknown to me. However, learning about Elder Beerman was
truly an eye opener for me. Hopefully, this would be conveyed as the reader continues to be
enlightened during their reading of this research paper. Elder Beerman was not only an iconic
corporation it had a lot of history attached to its name alone. There were some ownership regarding
the company and how the name came to life and the rise and fall of the corporation. During the first

offering brand namegoods to his franchised business. However, Beerman claimed that Rike s and the
Federated conspired with suppliers to keep many better quality brand names out of Beerman stores
through an exclusive contract.
Beerman won a $3.8 million judgment, including triple damages which was a stipulation regarding the
antitrust law. The case came to trial in 1969, but the verdict was reversed on appeal. Before the appeal
trial, a settlement was reached in which Rike s agreed to pay Elder Beerman $1.2 million, which was
the original amount without triple damages. As part of the settlement, the Dayton Mall had to provide
direct access from its parking lot to an adjacent Elder Beerman store (Funding University). However,
Beerman had accused the mall, and its developer Edward J. DeBartolo, and its major tenant, Rike s of

competitor as the Dayton area s most excellent retailer in the late 1970 s.

Minimalism Won T Work In Our Economy
Minimalism was first introduced in the early 1960 s as a new idea of thinking and a way of creating
sculptors and art work. Artist that were a part of this movement were called Minimalists and took
pride in allowing the materials they worked with to speak for themselves. Their works involved
extremely simple gestures and ideas. They started a movement of taking something simple in its own
form and finding the beauty in it. Currently there are groups of people practicing Minimalism but
instead of an art form, they have adopted the concept into their own lives. It s safe to say our daily

A short yes would be yes, but only in the short run. The real question should be in what area of
unemployment would it affect. Again, Minimalist practice the principle of needing and wanting less of
materialistic things and striving towards a more fulfilled life away from consumerism. If more people
practice minimalism, then less is consumed. But less of what? Less of fast moving consumer goods.
The disposable industry may get hit, as would fast fashion retail stores. This would be the immediate
effect. In the long term, even more durable goods would be affected. For example, families may
choose to drive the same car for another few years rather than replace it after the usual 5 or 10. Thus,
jobs in retail, automobile, manufacturing etc. would be affected but would be required to adopted to
the new demand of higher quality of goods. Therefore, taking their business locally where the
technology would be supported by more investments, if there is less spending, then there is
automatically more saving. Banks will now hold more deposits which they can invest in other
investments, ranging from energy, real estate and agriculture. Thus, creating more jobs in these
industries as they grow. Are economy has always struggled with unemployment the real question here
is rather or not which type of employment we want to support. Consumerism based employment or a

Low Self Esteem
In the United States, individuals with mental illness have an unemployment rate of 60 80% compared
to the overall unemployment rate of 8 10% (Chang, 2015). However, this high unemployment rate
does not reflect an unwilling labor force, as many individuals with mental illness state a desire for
employment (Henry Lucca, 2004). Individuals with mental illness face stigma from multiple sources
surrounding employment such as care givers, employers, and coworkers. Mental illness care givers are
often contributors to stigma surrounding mental illness, and can cause low self esteem in those they
care for. This low self esteem exacerbates the struggles individuals with mental illness experience in
the work place, and contributes to their unemployment (Henry Lucca, 2004). Individuals with mental
illness encounter discrimination during the hiring process and in the types of jobs they are offered
(Tsang, Angell Corrigan, 2007; Henry Lucca, 2004). Finally, individuals with mental illness often
suffer from unsupportive work environments, which can contribute to longer recovery times since
meaningful employment is an important aspect of mental illness treatment (Chang, 2015; Gold,
Macias Rodican, 2016). Mental illness stigma from care givers, employers, and coworkers must be
eliminated because it contributes to unemployment. Care givers for individuals with mental illness
include psychiatrists, mental health institutions, and loved ones. While care givers try and keep their

The Effect of Globalization on Fashion with Special...
ct Analyse the effect of Globalization on fashion with special reference to the impact of
Japanese designs on the European scene.
The definition of globalisation is quite complex and extremely controversial. However globalization
with reference to the fashion industry helps defines the development of what has been termed as
„world fashion‟. Preferred garments of young people is quite often the same. A phenomenon made
possible by the exploitative mechanisms of globalization. The globalization of clothing manufacture,
distribution, retailing online, and the global commodity advertising of both designer and high street
brands, has impacted significantly on fashion and the way the industry operates. Alternatively the

A number of Japanese fashion brands are beginning to rival the popularity of
American and European brands, as a result of unique trends and cutting edge style.
It is the talent for producing such cutting edge and uniquely styled fashion of the Japanese designers
that provided the inspiration for the „cute‟ Riot Grrrl style in Britain during the
1990‟s. In an article by writer Sharon Kinsella (1997) titled „The Japanization of European youth‟
Kinsella recognises that childlike elements from the Japanese designers began to emerge in the
fashion‟s of the 1990‟s amongst the European consumers, as they began to wear „cute‟ baby doll
dresses or old fashioned frilly frocks with Dr Martins . The „Riot Grrrl‟ style also known as the
grunge trend of the 1990‟s formed in Britain was directly and indirectly influenced by the Japanese
„cute‟ culture, first created by Japanese designers in the
1980‟s, which saw the Kawaii style of adorable, innocent, simple, gentle, and child like fashion
dominate the Japanese popular culture of it‟s time. This is a strong example of how globalization has
allowed the designers of today to combine different elements of design, and trends from different
cultures globally, to produce new designs and trends that are more of a cutting edge style and
uniqueness. Japanese brands also made their presence felt in the highend market, attempting to
combine

The Renaissance Of The European Renaissance
During the European renaissance, humanist philosophers started to take a new approach on education
though reconnecting with ancient European civilization. They stressed a change from irrational,
traditional thought, to good logical arguments, studying from religious texts and Aristotle (medieval
scholasticism). This new education, however, was to be for a purpose. They were to not only be
contemplators, but also public men , or being in service to the public. So, they spread their ideas to the
people by using the printing press, and within only a couple of days their thoughts were spread
throughout Europe. They were often punished by the Catholic Church, which brought about famous

He believed that because humans were granted free will, (while the angels were not), and if one
chooses to live a life as a righteous, spiritual thinker, then it is definitely possible that they can be
better than the angels. However, Pico also thought that humans could condescend as low as animals
and even worse. He first explains, ...for it is not the bark that makes the tree, but its insensitive and
unresponsive nature; nor the hide which makes the beast of burden, but its brute and sensual soul; nor
the orbicular form which makes the heavens, but their harmonious order. (Pico, 13) Here he uses
several different examples to put his point across. A tree is not a tree because of its bark, a beast is not
a beast because of its hide, and the heavens are not the heavens because of their shape. They are
themselves because of what they do. It is a tree because it is unresponsive and insensitive, it is a beast
because it is brute and sensual, and the heavens are the heavens because they are harmonious in order.
Pico then connects this to human nature by saying, If you see a man dedicated to his stomach,
crawling on the ground, you see a plant and not a man; or

Transformation of Escherichia coli in different concentrations of Plasmid DNA
Introduction
This report discusses an experiment which students have to transform and plate competent Escherichia
coli in different concentrations of plasmid DNA. This experiment uses four concentrations of plasmid
DNA to perform four transformations. These concentrations are namely, 5 µl of distilled water, which
acts as the control in this experiment; 2.5 µl of undiluted plasmid DNA; 1.0µl of undiluted plasmid
DNA; and lastly, 1.0µl of plasmid DNA diluted 1 in 10. Transformation is an important aspect in
genetic engineering as it allows for a particular DNA to enter into another cell. The aim of this
experiment is to be able to perform a cell transformation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, we placed 100 µl of the E. coli cells into four Eppendorf tubes each and labelled them A, B, C
and D. After filling them up, we placed them into an ice box. After this, we needed to perform the
transformation process by mixing the E. coli cells with different concentrations of plasmid DNA. In
test tube A, we added 5 µl of distilled water to the E. coli cells. In test tube B, we added 2.5 µl of
undiluted plasmid DNA to the E. coli cells. In test tube C, we added 1.0 µl of undiluted plasmid DNA
to the E. coli cells. Lastly, in test tube D, we added 1.0 µl of plasmid DNA diluted 1 in 10 to the E.
coli cells. Then, we used a P100 pipette and mixed all the liquids in all the Eppendorf tubes by
pipetting the solution up and down. Then, we left the Eppendorf tubes along with its contents in the
ice box for twenty minutes. After twenty minutes, we labelled the base of the four agar plates to match
with the appropriate plasmid DNA concentration about to be plated. We also wrote our initials, the
date, and the table number on the base of the agar plate. We then gently lifted up the cover of the agar
plate with just enough space to allow us to plate each tube of cells onto four different agar plates one
agar plate to one plasmid DNA concentration. We used a spreader to spread the cells evenly over the
surface of the agar, being careful not let the spreader touch

Determination Quotes
You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it. This quote is written by Margaret Thatcher.
This quote inspires me because it relates to me in real life. I ve tried so many times on many different
things, but i ve never gave up so i eventually won it or got it. For example Ar, Ar is very hard for me
because i don t like reading. Last year i got an F on my report card for Ar each quarter. It was hard, I
thought to myself i would never pass Ar. This year i was determined to get an A in Ar. So i read as
much as i can and took as much test as i can but the first quarter i failed again. So i tried even harder,
so when the next quarter s grades came out i got an A. I kept trying and eventually i won. So that s
why i chose this quote. I m pretty sure everyone can relate themselves to this quote. This quote can
mean many different things to many different people, it can mean violence or just your goals that you

Netflix V Blockbuster
Competition in the Movie Rental Industry in 2008:
Netflix and Blockbuster battle for Market Leadership
Strategic Issues
Netflix has limited streaming via online downloading. They also have limited market segment.
Blockbuster does not maintain enough inventories of new releases, and also needs to expand into
online downloading.
Analysis
Industry s Dominant Economic Features
The movie rental industry s market size is relatively large with $24.9 billion in 2007, which is up from
$22 million in 2004. The growth rate will continue to rise with the demand for movie entertainment.

The threat of new entry is relatively high. The start up costs are low to enter this industry for all that s
required are DVDs and a website but to be considered profitable you need to attract 2 to 4 million
subscribers. Another high barrier for entry would be regulation policies in which you need a license to
sell copyrighted movies. The threat of substitute products is high. Cable and satellite TV customers
with DVRs could readily substitute VOD movie offerings from their cable/satellite TV provider for
purchasing or renting movie DVDs. (pg. C 100) Individuals can easily switch with little to no cost
involved. Illegal downloading and pirating are another substitute products in which has no cost factor.
The supplier bargaining power is moderate to low. There are only a few suppliers in this industry in
which they get their products from movie studios and other movie distributors that create the films.
Since movies are considered a commodity, it doesn t matter which seller you purchase from. Suppliers
have more control over setting prices but at the same time the movie studios and companies like
Netflix need each other to survive. Since there are few suppliers the switching cost are low. The buyer
bargaining power is weak. When a new movie is released, the buyer is in high demand to get it as soon
as possible, which creates a sellers market. A seller s brand reputation

A New Client For A Cereal Making Company
A new client for a cereal making company has asked us to help promote their cereal as healthy . This
new cereal is called *name here*, and it is our job to determine the correlation between calories and
potassium in order to make the new cereal healthier by lowering the calories but increasing potassium.
We have researched the interrelationship between calories and potassium and this paper is a product of
our analysis. We have compared data between the top fifteen cereals and have found that calories and
potassium have a negative correlation. However this is only a coincidence as it is other factors, such as
sugar, fiber, protein, and fat that correlate most directly to calories, while certain ingredients have
more potassium than others. Calories and potassium are both essential parts of the diet that the human
body needs in order to survive. A calorie is a unit of energy that measures how much energy the body
gets just by eating or drinking it. It is generally thought that the higher the calories, the worse it is for
the body. It is thought that way because the extra calories that the body doesn t use is converted to fat,
and too much fat is linked to health problems such as arthritis (joint degeneration), heart disease and
diabetes. Potassium is an electrolyte (meaning it conducts electricity in the body), it is essential for the
proper function of cells, tissues and organs. It is crucial for heart function and the contraction of
smooth and skeletal muscles. Too much

  • 2. Christian Compounding Defects It is common knowledge in the building industry that the most important part of a new building structure, is the foundation. Inasmuch as, any mistakes in it, only gets worst as you begin to build up. Consequently, there s a term in the industry known as, Compounding Defects, which simply means that the mistakes will grow when building upward. Similarly, Jesus, being the Good Shepherd that He is, warned of three things that could cause serious defects. Furthermore, these defects mentioned in Matthew 7, have the potential to affect the lives of Christians. • 3. Can Presidential Systems Work Effectively Within Deeply... Name: Amanda Raizis ID: 300306546 Tutor: Tim Webster Tutorial Time: Thursday 11.00 11.50pm Can presidential systems work effectively in deeply divided societies? [Make reference to at least two cases of your choosing.] Thesis Statement Presidentialism is a system of government in which the president is elected both chief executives and as head of government (Ogelsby Suárez, 1968) and is the main system of democratic government apart from parliamentary systems. Presidential systems tend to centralise priorities of the government to stabilise society. Normally, they are classed into separate regions of power; where the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government are dependent on one another and cannot work effectively in deeply divided societies. This argument is ruled by the fact that they are 1) divisive, causing isolation between ethnoreligious groups. Elites are prioritised over minority working class groups and 2) inherently majoritarian, as only a single position is given causing proportionality to become impossible. In places such as Latin America and Northern Ireland, we see the ways in which these theories have proven ineffectiveness. However, presidential systems aim to separate powers in order to protect citizens rights and deter abuse of power for good governance overall. Through this presidential systems, however, have quick decisiveness in resolving societal issues. Without effective separation; executive, legislative and judicial powers, ... • 4. Language and Identity Are Inextricably Linked. How Is This... There are many indicators of identity by which we are made known individually, socially and culturally; the best of these would be language and how it has shown great flexibility in accommodating the needs of people. Through language people have been able to establish their identities and cultivate friendships with others who share the same common ground. By looking at accents such as Broad Australian English, slang and phonological features as they apply to Australian varieties, we can see how it has forged solidarity and assisted in creating an identity on an individual and national scale. Broad Australian English (BAE) is a language variety unique to Australia. Despite being spoken by a minority of Australian population today, it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Identity is formed through the mutual trends of a group through slang and is used as identification for users who have these lexical features in common. The shortening of the lexeme whatever to whatevz or the reduplication and shortening of crazy to cray cray are words that have appealed to young Australian teenagers. Through use of diminutives, identity can be further formed as they are uniquely Australian, where lexemes are shortened to a syllable and the suffix of ie, y or o is added like smoko for smoking, devo for devastated and bottle o for a liquor store. The use of slang like this enhances our identity and care free nature that helps us understand phrases like I m devo that brekky at Maccas is done . This way slang builds certain characteristics that are known to Australians in the same way phonological features have. A recent phonological development in Australian English displays a difference between younger and older generations through the High Rising Terminal (HRT) which is a rising intonation contour on declarative clauses. The intonation pattern is considered a distinctive feature of Australian English and shows how speakers carry themselves as a person. HRT is used primarily by the younger demographics in Australia, in particular female speakers and has been criticised often, deeming it as a marker of insecurity. However as researchers now point out, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. RC F Advertisement Analysis Essay What is perfection? Perfection is a process and plays a vital role in this advertisement. The 2016 Lexus RC F stands for perfection, which the car manufacturer highlights in this ad. This advertisement was from a February 2016 issue of Motor Trend on a website called Issuu. In this ad, there are three photos of the car from the top, wheel close up, and rear views. In the pursuit to go beyond perfection, the RC F is engineered to showcase a highly capable vehicle to a higher performance standard. In an everyday world, Lexus is conveying that power and the desire to go fast are strengths. Lexus wants consumers to know that this message is not only possible but also admirable. Through several visual elements, Lexus makes consumers yearn for a car that is worth owning. Overall, the advertisers were successful in presenting this concept. To begin with, by looking at the textual element of the RC F advertisement, one can understand the features and attitude of the car. One part of the ad is on top of the page in a big, Helvetica white font. The phrase in the ad, A 467 horsepower line in the sand could be defined as a car that has great speed and precision. The line in the sand can be like leaving a mark for the world to see. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Lexus RC F ad gives three views of the car. The car looks like it is slightly tilted to the left and the rear portion is pointing upward to the right. This imagery can lead the viewer s eyes into the next image. • 6. Allegory Of The Cave Essay Allegory of the cave is an allegory written by Plato while in Greece in the Classical age. It describes the concept of reality and enlightenment through the point of view of prisoners in a cave. The allegory describes how the prisoners have been chained their whole lives and can only see shadows. It describes how one of the prisoners is freed and goes outside and realizes how everything he knew was a lie. He becomes enlightened and returns to the cave only to be met with ridicule and resistance from the other prisoners. In the ¨Allegory of the Cave¨, the author attempts to teach us how people reject change and detest it through the use of imagery, moral conflicts, and symbolism. To begin, Plato uses imagery to convey the message that people reject change because they have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Now if once again, along with those who had remained shackled there, the freed person had to engage in the business of asserting and maintaining opinions about the shadows while his eyes are still weak and before they have readjusted, an adjustment that would require quite a bit of time would he not then be exposed to ridicule down there? And would they not let him know that he had gone up but only in order to come back down into the cave with his eyes ruined and thus it certainly does not pay to go up. And if they can get hold of this person who takes it in hand to free them from their chains and to lead them up, and if they could kill him, will they not actually kill him ? This excerpt highlights the conflict that arises when the freed prisoner tries to return and enlighten the chained prisoners. Once the freed prisoner returns, the other s reject and ridicule his knowledge. This is due to the fact that the chained prisoners don t want to change their way of thinking because they feel comfort. They do not want to take the risk going into the ... • 10. Analysis Of Augustine s Augustine Augustine is a sixteen year old boy, like all sixteen year olds he is going through puberty and trying to figure out what love is. Augustine states, For as I became a youth, I longed to be satisfied with worldly things, and I dared to grow wild in a succession of various and shadowy loves (24). Any young adult experiences the same things that Augustine is going through. Augustine struggled with knowing the difference between pure affection and unholy desire. He becomes ashamed of himself and goes into a spiral of sorrow. In chapter one Augustine says, If only there had been someone to regulate my disorder and turn to my profit the fleeting beauties of the things around me (24). Like all teenagers their parents try and tell them right from wrong but most teenagers have to learn from there own mistakes. Augustine reflects back on a quote from Apostle Paul. He realizes if he had just listened to the words more closely, he would not be in the trouble that he is in. Augustine turns to the Lord and ask what can I do and why did I do this? His parents want him to learn from his mistakes and they tell him he should make a powerful speech and become a persuasive orator. While his studies were interrupted, he had come back from a city to further his education at Carthage. His father supported him in everything even though he did not have a lot of money. Camouflage being one of the most impressive aspects of octopuses intelligence, scientists under the direction of Antonio P. Cribeiro, conducted an exercise designed to see to what extent the skin of octopuses was capable to adapt to its surroundings. The experiment was divided into three parts: First, a few octopuses were introduced to a closed glass box (in full view of potential predators) containing items such as rocks, sand, and algae which are found in their natural environments. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in the octopuses adapting effortlessly to their surroundings. Then, the items inside the glass box were replaced by a piece of canvas printed with a geometric pattern, something that an octopus would never encounter in its natural habitat. The colors of the canvas were not random, however, but corresponded to the pigmentation abilities of octopuses. Once again, the octopuses easily completed the task. Finally, the geometric ... Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on the verge of bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon after. Impacted by the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the strength of the will of the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of its citizens. Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter society and the social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor James Alexander Dun argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this instance, and is in fact used as an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to the situation. He believes that a revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the Haitian revolution is more complex than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn t be viewed as a thing, but rather, should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion as it challenges conventional thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with France and Haiti. The globalization of clothing manufacture, distribution, retailing online, and the global commodity advertising of both designer and high street brands, has impacted significantly on fashion and the way the industry operates. Alternatively the progress of the fashion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A number of Japanese fashion brands are beginning to rival the popularity of American and European brands, as a result of unique trends and cutting edge style. It is the talent for producing such cutting edge and uniquely styled fashion of the Japanese designers that provided the inspiration for the „cute‟ Riot Grrrl style in Britain during the 1990‟s. In an article by writer Sharon Kinsella (1997) titled „The Japanization of European youth‟ Kinsella recognises that childlike elements from the Japanese designers began to emerge in the fashion‟s of the 1990‟s amongst the European consumers, as they began to wear „cute‟ baby doll dresses or old fashioned frilly frocks with Dr Martins . The „Riot Grrrl‟ style also known as the grunge trend of the 1990‟s formed in Britain was directly and indirectly influenced by the Japanese „cute‟ culture, first created by Japanese designers in the 1980‟s, which saw the Kawaii style of adorable, innocent, simple, gentle, and child like fashion dominate the Japanese popular culture of it‟s time. This is a strong example of how globalization has allowed the designers of today to combine different elements of design, and trends from different cultures globally, to produce new designs and trends that are more of a cutting edge style and uniqueness. Japanese brands also made their presence felt in the highend market, attempting to combine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Renaissance Of The European Renaissance During the European renaissance, humanist philosophers started to take a new approach on education though reconnecting with ancient European civilization. They stressed a change from irrational, traditional thought, to good logical arguments, studying from religious texts and Aristotle (medieval scholasticism). This new education, however, was to be for a purpose. They were to not only be contemplators, but also public men , or being in service to the public. So, they spread their ideas to the people by using the printing press, and within only a couple of days their thoughts were spread throughout Europe. They were often punished by the Catholic Church, which brought about famous works like The Prince, by Niccolò Machiavelli, as referred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believed that because humans were granted free will, (while the angels were not), and if one chooses to live a life as a righteous, spiritual thinker, then it is definitely possible that they can be better than the angels. However, Pico also thought that humans could condescend as low as animals and even worse. He first explains, ...for it is not the bark that makes the tree, but its insensitive and unresponsive nature; nor the hide which makes the beast of burden, but its brute and sensual soul; nor the orbicular form which makes the heavens, but their harmonious order. (Pico, 13) Here he uses several different examples to put his point across. A tree is not a tree because of its bark, a beast is not a beast because of its hide, and the heavens are not the heavens because of their shape. They are themselves because of what they do. It is a tree because it is unresponsive and insensitive, it is a beast because it is brute and sensual, and the heavens are the heavens because they are harmonious in order. Pico then connects this to human nature by saying, If you see a man dedicated to his stomach, crawling on the ground, you see a plant and not a man; or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Transformation Of Escherichia Bacteria And Dna Transformation of Escherichia coli in different concentrations of Plasmid DNA Introduction This report discusses an experiment which students have to transform and plate competent Escherichia coli in different concentrations of plasmid DNA. This experiment uses four concentrations of plasmid DNA to perform four transformations. These concentrations are namely, 5 µl of distilled water, which acts as the control in this experiment; 2.5 µl of undiluted plasmid DNA; 1.0µl of undiluted plasmid DNA; and lastly, 1.0µl of plasmid DNA diluted 1 in 10. Transformation is an important aspect in genetic engineering as it allows for a particular DNA to enter into another cell. The aim of this experiment is to be able to perform a cell transformation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, we placed 100 µl of the E. coli cells into four Eppendorf tubes each and labelled them A, B, C and D. After filling them up, we placed them into an ice box. After this, we needed to perform the transformation process by mixing the E. coli cells with different concentrations of plasmid DNA. In test tube A, we added 5 µl of distilled water to the E. coli cells. In test tube B, we added 2.5 µl of undiluted plasmid DNA to the E. coli cells. In test tube C, we added 1.0 µl of undiluted plasmid DNA to the E. coli cells. Lastly, in test tube D, we added 1.0 µl of plasmid DNA diluted 1 in 10 to the E. coli cells. Then, we used a P100 pipette and mixed all the liquids in all the Eppendorf tubes by pipetting the solution up and down. Then, we left the Eppendorf tubes along with its contents in the ice box for twenty minutes. After twenty minutes, we labelled the base of the four agar plates to match with the appropriate plasmid DNA concentration about to be plated. We also wrote our initials, the date, and the table number on the base of the agar plate. We then gently lifted up the cover of the agar plate with just enough space to allow us to plate each tube of cells onto four different agar plates one agar plate to one plasmid DNA concentration. We used a spreader to spread the cells evenly over the surface of the agar, being careful not let the spreader touch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Last year i got an F on my report card for Ar each quarter. It was hard, I thought to myself i would never pass Ar. This year i was determined to get an A in Ar. So i read as much as i can and took as much test as i can but the first quarter i failed again. So i tried even harder, so when the next quarter s grades came out i got an A. I kept trying and eventually i won. So that s why i chose this quote. I m pretty sure everyone can relate themselves to this quote. Netflix V Blockbuster Competition in the Movie Rental Industry in 2008: Netflix and Blockbuster battle for Market Leadership Strategic Issues Netflix has limited streaming via online downloading. They also have limited market segment. Blockbuster does not maintain enough inventories of new releases, and also needs to expand into online downloading. Analysis Industry s Dominant Economic Features The movie rental industry s market size is relatively large with $24.9 billion in 2007, which is up from $22 million in 2004. The growth rate will continue to rise with the demand for movie entertainment. There are a few numbers of rivals, but the industry is consolidating to an even smaller number of competitors. The start up costs are low to enter this industry for all that s required are DVDs and a website but to be considered profitable you need to attract 2 to 4 million subscribers. Another high barrier for entry would be regulation policies in which you need a license to sell copyrighted movies. The threat of substitute products is high. Cable and satellite TV customers with DVRs could readily substitute VOD movie offerings from their cable/satellite TV provider for purchasing or renting movie DVDs. (pg. C 100) Individuals can easily switch with little to no cost involved. Illegal downloading and pirating are another substitute products in which has no cost factor. The supplier bargaining power is moderate to low. There are only a few suppliers in this industry in which they get their products from movie studios and other movie distributors that create the films. Since movies are considered a commodity, it doesn t matter which seller you purchase from. Suppliers have more control over setting prices but at the same time the movie studios and companies like Netflix need each other to survive. Since there are few suppliers the switching cost are low. The buyer bargaining power is weak. When a new movie is released, the buyer is in high demand to get it as soon as possible, which creates a sellers market. A seller s brand reputation ... • 35. A New Client For A Cereal Making Company A new client for a cereal making company has asked us to help promote their cereal as healthy . This new cereal is called *name here*, and it is our job to determine the correlation between calories and potassium in order to make the new cereal healthier by lowering the calories but increasing potassium. We have researched the interrelationship between calories and potassium and this paper is a product of our analysis. We have compared data between the top fifteen cereals and have found that calories and potassium have a negative correlation. However this is only a coincidence as it is other factors, such as sugar, fiber, protein, and fat that correlate most directly to calories, while certain ingredients have more potassium than others. Calories and potassium are both essential parts of the diet that the human body needs in order to survive. A calorie is a unit of energy that measures how much energy the body gets just by eating or drinking it. It is generally thought that the higher the calories, the worse it is for the body. It is thought that way because the extra calories that the body doesn t use is converted to fat, and too much fat is linked to health problems such as arthritis (joint degeneration), heart disease and diabetes. Potassium is an electrolyte (meaning it conducts electricity in the body), it is essential for the proper function of cells, tissues and organs. It is crucial for heart function and the contraction of smooth and skeletal muscles. Too much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
