Analysis of quot;Blood Wedding quot; Essay
Federico Garcia Lorca s three plays, Blood Wedding, Yerma, and The House of Bernarda Alba
share many symbolisms. Lorca (Short Biography) wrote about many subjects and objects that
often have an unconscious double meaning. These unconscious symbols are known as
archetypes, developed by the psychologist, Carl G. Jung. This paper will analyze these symbols
using Jung s theory of the archetype. By doing so, the analysis will better explain some of the
unconscious meaning and original thoughts behind Lorca s symbols. This is important because a
detailed reading will allow the reader to clearly understand each symbol and why it is important to
the society in the play, and to Lorca s society. To begin, Jung explains that an archetype is

Since archetypes are the formulation of the results of countless experiences of our ancestors, it is
possible for the archetype to cross section all experiences. This basically means that one object can
symbolize the same thing in different events or experiences. Archetypal images are objects that
allude to the instincts of man. The archetypes are the manifestations of the instincts, that is to say,
creative impulses from the unconscious, (Goldrunner 107). An archetype always expresses a
comparison. If someone talks about a tree and identifies it as the basis of life, it is neither one of
these things, but actually a third unknown thing that can find a happy medium expression within
the first two. The archetype will never let us forget the psychology of the past. It inspires our
natural instincts, behavior, and thought. The importance of these instincts is immeasurable within
literature that focuses on the injustices of society and its civilized culture. The repression of these
instincts has allowed modern society to dictate how individuals should live. This is why the
importance of symbols in literature usually has an archetypal background. Society has suppressed
our natural thought to the extent that it can only be expressed within the symbolism of literature.
In Lorca s Blood Wedding, blood has many significant symbolisms structured throughout the play.

Naomi Shihab Nye Famous
What does it mean to be famous? The popular definition of fame means being distinguished
amongst the rest for a certain act or function. In other words, for being more talented or well
known. Typically, this type of fame is reserved for celebrities and popular landmarks. However,
being famous could also mean being recognized amongst friends for being kind. There is no
clear limitation on what being famous could mean. In Naomi Shihab Nye s poem Famous , she
describes her own feelings of what fame is. She describes the way that fame can only exist when
there is something to be famous for. Her claim for her poem states that objects and people can be
famous not because of their talent, but because they are memorable and familiar. Nye begins her

The Struggle For Independence Between Deep Rooted African...
Who were the Mau Mau? What fueled their short lived but symbolic rebellion? What is their
significance in the struggle for independence that occurred in Kenya? What does understanding the
insurgency teach us of the clashes between deep rooted African culture and the force of European
civilization mission? The rebellion surprised the British early on in 1952 by its aggressiveness and
early success in rallying up the masses for a common cause, equality. For decades the white British
settlers took their lands and sent the indigenous Kikuyu into reservations which could not even
come close to sustaining their ever growing pastoral population. The Second World War seems to
have been the turning point for the majority of Kenyans who wanted equality with the Europeans
(Elkins, 2005, p. 22) .
However this was not only in Kenya, all around the continent African soldiers who had bled for the
British empire discovered that the European man died just as he did when shot or stabbed, and
this took away the superiority complex some of them might have had earlier. The duration and
protracted effort of the counterinsurgency beg an evaluation of its influence on the fate of Kenya
as a colony. Yet, decolonization did not arrive until nearly a decade later. The Mau Mau was as a
result of African nationalism in Kenya, a somewhat violent resistance to imperialists and colonialist
scattered across their lands and their resistance to demands for gradual political reform. After

Social Networks
Social Networking Sites The Internet and technology are growing bigger and bigger every day
and before we know it technology is going to pass us by. With the invention of the Internet and
Social Networks, the possibilities are endless. Social networking sites provide us the opportunity
to explore the whole world, make friends, and share moments with the rest of the world through
the Internet. Everyday more and more people become part of the different social networking sites

Even though social networking sites allows people to interact and be friends with an infinite
number of people, how many of those people can be considered as real friend or friends you can
count on in the real world. A good benefit social networking sites offer is that they allow people
to stay in touch with friends and family who live far away. Before social networking sites were
created people did not have the privilege stay in contact with friends or family who live in a
different city or country. People now have the privilege of sharing pictures, videos, sending
messages and even instant chatting with their families and friends they are not able to see so
often. Thanks to the introduction of these sites people now have easy access to the lives of their
family and friends from far away. Losing touch with old friends or distant family members is
less likely to happen when they see their faces and updates every day on their social network.
Also, this could be used as an advantage for parents to communicate with their kids who are off
to college or travel somewhere. The truth is that social networking has become part of people s
lives. People can use them to their advantage or get carried away by the bad effects of these sites.

The Emergency Room Services ( Ed )
Going to the emergency room is not something most people want to do. However, on occasion it is
necessary to utilize the emergency room services (ED). What necessitates that trip is debatable;
social norms, prevailing trends, environmental demographics, culture, individual factors, the
perception of illness and access to healthcare have all been discussed. It is not this authors intention
to determine the root cause, but merely raise awareness that issues exist.
Increased Patient Wait Times Result in Poorer Patient Outcomes. In the United States, between
1996 and 2003 emergency room visits rose from 9.3 million visits to 113.9 million visits; an
increase of 26 percent with an annual visit rate of 35.7 visits per 100 persons in 1992 and 39.6
per 100 persons in 2005 (Hunt, K., Colby, D., Grimes, B., Bacchette, P., Callaham, M., 2008). As
the demand for ED services increase, wait times increase, over crowding occurs, resources are
strained and poorer patient outcomes are often the result.
Just ask the Jeffers family about poor patient outcomes. In 2011, 2 year old Malyia Jeffers was
taken to the ED by parents for an uncontrollable fever and flu like symptoms. At the ER as she
and her parents waited nearly 5 hours to be been see by a physician, Malyia s illness progressed. By
the time she was seen, Malyia was suffering from toxic shock, a failing liver and struggling to
survive. After weeks of touch and go in Lucile Packard Children s Hospital intensive care unit,

programmers quitting, leaving unfinished code. (p. 8). To combat this fear of losing
employees, Walder should focus on creating and solidifying a strong organizational culture,
instilling certain values among workers (Hill, 341). As the company grows in size, Walder will
need to make more hires, especially on the technical side of operations. If not, he will be unable
to keep the website functioning properly with the influx of site traffic as UGHH grows and

business practices, as a fact to boast about. Although this process does protect UGHH from
accumulating too much debt, it also limits the company s expansion significantly. Debt can be
harmful to many businesses, but there is also a concept called good debt ; the debt a company
incurs to propagate it forward and expedite business processes. If UGHH were to take out loans and
allow itself to acquire debt, it could have expanded into a suitable warehouse sooner, ordered more

Adnan Masud Syed Case
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 11, states: Everyone charged with a penal
offense has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public
trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defense (Universal Declaration of
Human Rights, 1948). In the case of Adnan, he was provided with both of these rights and
guarantees, but just because he was proven guilty in court does not mean he killed Hae Lee on
January 13, 1999. On February 25, 2000, Adnan Masud Syed was found guilty of first degree
murderfor the strangulation of Hae Min Lee, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and robbery (Francke,

Perjury is evident throughout the case and Jay Wild s testimony, which ultimately changed the
state s case and the course of the trial. If the same quality and quantity of evidence were provided
in any other murder trial, it should still be unlikely that someone could be convicted of a crime
that serious. Adnan s first crime is an example of how our justice system is still flawed. Multiple
physical and substantial pieces of evidence are needed to prove that Adnan is guilty. In Adnan s
first case, evidence was ineffectively used and a large amount of evidence was left out. Looking
at the case as a whole, the state s case was largely based off of whether or not Adnan is capable
of murder and the words of one man. Adnan was poorly represented and his defense seemed
unorganized and insignificant. Finding Adnan guilty of Hae s murder based off of one man s
testimony, who admitted to repeatedly lying, and cell phone records that have been proven to be
inaccurate is illogical. Analysis of new evidence in comparison to previous evidence used to convict
Adnan will show that he is, in fact, innocent. If Adnan s second trial focusses more on relevant, new
information rather than two pieces of questionable evidence and Adnan s character, capability, or
emotional connection to Hae, the jury should find

Process Of The LAUNCH Cycle
In the process of the LAUNCH Cycle, I am on step step three and four. The reason for this, is
because stage fright hits people differently and the reaction of their body is different too. On
step three (Look,Listen and Learn), this step seems to be a bit complicated because there are
many reasons why people get stage frights and trying to get people to be themselves on stage is
challenging. For example, maybe people have insecurities about themselves whether it s
physically of mentally. The idea of people being insecure physically can be hard because maybe
they don t like how they look or act in front of an audience. Also the mental part ties with the
physical part because once that persondoesn t like how they look or act they intend

The Pros And Cons Of Multitasking
Having single pointed focus and no multitasking In today s modern hustle and bustle, people are
very much preoccupied by their work, are always in hurry, engrossed in busy schedules and
easily get agitated so much so that people have ingrained and imbibed a word to describe their
efforts to respond to the many pressing demands on our time: Multitasking. Used for decades to
describe the parallel processing abilities of computers, multitasking is now shorthand for the
human attempt to do simultaneously as many things as possible and as quickly as possible. But
more recently, ill effects of multitasking have begun to emerge. Numerous studies have shown the
sometimes fatal danger of using cell phones and other electronic devices while driving, for
example, and several states have now made that particular form of multitasking illegal ! Dr.
Edward Hallowell, a Massachusetts based psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder and has written a book with the self explanatory title CrazyBusy, has
been offering therapies to combat extreme multitasking for years; in his book he calls multitasking
a mythical activity in which people believe they can perform two or more tasks simultaneously. In
one recent study, Russell Poldrack, a psychology professor at the University of California, Los
Angeles, found that multitasking adversely affects how you learn. Even if you learn while
multitasking, that learning is less flexible and more

Comparing Douglas Adams Difficulty With My Life-Style

impact of the an action by explaining cause and effect is a never ending cycle. Adam s text is
shows how people actions can effect people/things and aren t consciously aware of how this
effect people every day life. There is nothing that can be done to prevent the effects of the actions
that are being taken it is just a part of life. Arthur said, I seem to be having a tremendous difficulty

A rhetorial similarity between The Penultimate Peril and The Hitchiker s Guide is both texts
argue that cause and effect have a cycle that keeps going and certain things led to something and
than back again. Peoples actions determine the different outcomes that a person decides to do.
Than the outcomes have other outcomes and that continues to go in a circle. A difference
between the two texts is Adams thinks each individual cause has a specific outcome while
Snickets thinks an action can have many outcomes. In The Hitchiker s Guide the reader can see
there is only one cause to why everything happen he is more specific in his story. In The
Penultimate Peril Snickets the reader can see the mysteries could have been solved in many
ways. Snikets follow the basic rule of cause and effect which shows any effect can have multiple
possible causes; the task of cause and effect is to determine the correct one. Snicket made a
metaphor to that when he said, the world is like a calm pond, and that anytime a person does even
the smallest thing, it is as if a stone has dropped into the pond, spreading circles of ripples further
and further out, until the entire world has been changed by one tiny action. One action can have

Masquerade Concert, Halloween Spooktacular, Arranged By...
Out of the three pieces that the Artiste Orchestra prepared to the Masquerade Concert, Halloween
Spooktacular, arranged by Bob Phillips, was definitely the hardest piece. Not only was it long, but
it was fast and had passages with difficult fingerings. By no means have I perfected this piece, but I
used several different practice techniques to help me master the fast tempoand difficult fingerings.
The technique that I used the most was probably using a metronome. I would start by playing a
passage very slowly, probably around 80 100 beats per minute depending on the passage. Then,
once I had mastered the passage at that speed, I would increase the tempo by 10 beats per minute
and practice the passage at that speed until I had mastered it. Then, I would increase the tempo
another 10 beats per minute and repeat the same process. I would continue this same process until I
had mastered that section at tempo. It was at these slower speeds that I could really focus on the
little things, such as intonation, rhythm, dynamics and articulation because by focusing on these
elements as slow speeds, it would be easier to bring them into the piece at faster speeds. Another
practice technique I attempted to use to practice Halloween Spooktacular was playing along with
a recorded version of the piece. This is a technique I used for several pieces last year because I
find it helpful to hear all the parts of a piece, not just my own. Unfortunately, after one or two
attempts to play along

Professor Tara Grace
September 20, 2017 Poem: Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden The poem Those Winter
Sundays by Robert Hayden was actually about a little boy and his father who has an uninteresting
relationship with his dad. In this poem, it tells us the readers about things the father does for his
family most especially his son without being rewarded for his hard work. According to the poem,
the speaker fears his father so much maybe that is why the speaker(son) father become so wicked to
them especially the speaker(son) due to the much pains that his father went through for his family.
The thesis statement in the poem Those Winter Sundays is the strong love the father has for this
family mostly his son, and how he wasn t recognized by his family or his son.
The main character in this poem is the speaker. In the poem Those Winter Sundays was a man
who was reflecting on this past memory when he was a child and the uninteresting relationship

from him being a little boy to him be an adult now, he also said that he has learned a lot on how
to appreciate the love and cares his father s shows to his family mostly him when he was a very

the duties of any parental love can be and how they are very borne out of their selflessness
without any expectation or what so ever. No one ever thanked him ( Line 5). The line sums up the

The Effects of Fracking on the Environment Essay
While it is true fracking , a procedure to obtain natural gas removal from shale formations, it is
also true there have been infrastructure security issues associated with this practice. Furthermore,
there have been ecological considerations from fracking brought to the forefront by countless
environmentalists. Indeed, hydraulic fracturing, as it is referred to, is a process by which shale
gas and oil is uprooted from a depth far below the earth s exterior. The process of extracting shale
gas and oil is employed aggressively while water is forced deep beneath the earth surface through
a geological arrangement. From this arrangement, oil and gas is exerted back to the earth s surface.
Moreover, once the hydraulic fracturing process is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where this agreement usually ends, however, is with the question of quality control refining
processes from my viewpoint. Anotherwords, what control measures are enforced to ensure all
contaminants are entirely removed to guarantee a high level of quality assurance and security of the
petroleum sectors within the nation s infrastructures? Are there residual contaminants affecting the
quality of fuel supplied to the nation s energy consumers? From a preceding viewpoint, it can be
related to the Colorado Floods that occurred in September 2013. Even the prevailing thought of
hazardous waste introduced to the Colorado geographical landscape does not eliminate the second
and third order affects imposed on the nation s petroleum pipeline infrastructure by way of
corrosion, introducing chemicals into the pipeline arteries through small cracks that may extend
beyond Colorado, an implication that cannot be ruled out. Water contamination prevention or
across the board programs from the negative effect of hydraulic fracturing should be an expectation
from petroleum energy producers. Moreover, it reminds us of an infrastructure security
vulnerability, which is not often specified, when hydraulic fracturing is correlated to the role water
functions through the conventional petroleum refining process, along with vast arrays of petroleum
pipelines that exist across the nation s geographical landscapes. These concerns should be brought

Gentiless In The Pardoner s Tale

resolve and good nature of Griselda demonstrates that while she is a commoner, she has much more

I nominated the Reeve s Tale fifth as it is a great example of a fabliau. It remains humorous, even
to a modern audience. It also has instructional value, to an extent, as it features the cheating
Miller getting his comeuppance. I nominated the Friar s Tale fourth due to it s more dramatic
nature. Many of the tales focus on mortals, while the Friar s tale features a demon as a main
character. Similar to the Reeve s tale as well, the story features a villain, the summoner, being
punished for his wrongdoing. I nominated the Pardoner s Tale third because it is interesting that
the target of the moral preached by the tale, seems to be the same character telling it. The
Pardoner tells of three young men who happen upon a large store of gold, and kill each other out
of greed. This being while the Pardoner is one of the greediest characters in the Canterbury Tales. I
nominated the Prioress s tale second as I felt it was the most dated tale in Canterbury tales. The
blatant anti Semitism espoused in it makes it a rather interesting read, and it provides a good
amount of instructional value on how to properly treat people in retrospect. In the end, I would
have to pick the Knight s tale for the award as his tale contains some rather heavy themes for its
time. The lesson taught in the Knight s tale about the fickleness of fate

Homosexuality in Ha Jin s the Bridegroom Essay
History of Homosexuality in Society
Throughout the course of history, the topic of homosexuality and its acceptable behavior has been
one of varying opinions and much heated debate. Although how tolerated homosexual behavior was
all through history can differ depending on who your source is, most everyone can agree that a few
large cultures were either strongly for, or against, homosexuality.
One key player in the fight against homosexuality was the all powerful England. The first English
civil law against sodomy was passed by Parliament in 1533. In Act 25 Henry 8, Chapter 6 which

These types of moralistic judgments constantly flooded the so called scientific study of
homosexuality. Religion also plays a key role in the persecution of homosexuals. The belief that
homosexuality is a sin seems to dominate the church community. Those of Islamic religion are
strongly against the very idea of homosexuality and offer a strong punishment to those who
oppose their views. In Saudi Arabia on April 16, 2001, five homosexuals were sentenced to
2,600 lashes and 6 years in prison, and four others to 2,400 lashes and 5 years imprisonment for
deviant sexual behavior. (Associated Press 2001) As of today, same sex intercourse is still
prohibited in Islam. Bible believing Christians have also responded to the apparent growth in
acceptance of homosexuality in various ways. Many fundamentalists view homosexual behavior as

The Gnostic Gospels By Elaine Pagels
The role of women in human affairs, religious beliefs, and social practices are highly concerned by
scholars when women involved religious life. God the Father/God the Mother , third chapter in the
book The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels, examines major distinctions between Orthodox
Christianity and Gnostic community in the concerns of the roles and characterizations of women
by relating scriptural views and texts. While sharing a common topic of women s role in religious
life, Images of Women in Early Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism is an article in the book
Buddhist Christian Studies by Karen Christina Lang that discusses the major images and examines
four categories of women whose participated in the religious activities of both Buddhist and
Gnostics communities. In God the Father/God the Mother , Pagels compares the views of women
between Orthodox communities and Gnostic sources. The Orthodox Christianity continuous the
convention of Trinitarian terms from Jewish description of God that God is considered as
masculine and never identified as feminine element while most Near East religions included female
and male God. In fact, Jewish, Christian, and Islamic theologians usually refrain from framing their

America
(Man lies down on couch. Silence. Man begins to talk to Doc, the assumed analyst behind the

History is fabrication. History is betrayal.
What passes for identity in America is a series of myths about one s heroic ancestors.

Indigenous People In The 1500s
The indigenous have been mistreated by the Europeans since the 1500 s, from the cod fishing to
the fur trading. The indigenous were kidnapped by the Europeans, forced to change cultures, and
used for the European benefits. The indigenous life was not one of joy, but of sadness, and torture.
In the 1500 s, the Beothuk peoples encountered Europeans for the first time, when they first came to
fish cod, but they didn t establish a trading partnership. It wasn t until the early 1800 s when the
Europeans took action and captured Beothuk peoples, Shawnadithit, her mother, and her sister, and
took them back to Europe. Shawnadithit s mother and sister died in Europe from European
diseases. Later on, the Europeans took Shawnadithit back to her point of capture, she then caught
tuberculosis and died in 1829, she was the last known Beothuk person alive. If the Europeans hadn
t captured Shawnadithit and her family in the first place, the Beothuk peoples would still be alive
to this day, and they wouldn t have died from the European diseases that they were not immune to.

Tying Homer s Iliad to Virgil s Aeneid Through the Theme...
Warfare is a common thread that ties Homer s Iliad to Virgil s Aeneid. However, the way warfare
is treated in the two epics is different. This can be attributed to many factors including the time
between the composition of the pieces, the fact that pieces were written by different authors, and
the fact that the pieces were written in different places. We can use these pieces to get a view of
what the society that produced them thought about war and how the view of war changed as time
went on in the ancient world. The Iliadis a poem of war. The entire narrative takes place at or near
a battlefield with men who had been fighting a seemingly never ending war for over nine years, and
portrays many many battles great and small. At the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is in Book IV when Ajax kills Simoisius. Homer says Telamonian Ajax struck
Anthemion s son, the hardy stripling Simoisius, still unwed... His mother had borne him along
the Simois banks when she trailed her parents down the slopes of Ida to tend their flocks, and so
they called him Simoisius. (4.547 51) In a war that has lasted nine years where untold numbers of
men have died, why would Homer take such care to tell his audience about someone like
Simoisius? Perhaps because if the listener knows something about the vanquished opponent, that
gives more glory to the conquering hero. Another reason could be that for the vanquished in death
they receive some measure of glory for fighting bravely against a famous hero like Ajax. Another
place we see this emphasis on glory when Hector returns to Troy in Book VI. Hector s wife
Andromache begs him to take his armies and make his stand near a fig tree close to the walls of
Troy.(6.511 20) While Andromache s advice may be tactically sound, Hector refuses her by
saying I ve learned it all too well. To stand up bravely, always to fight in the front ranks of Trojan
soldiers, winning my father great glory, glory for myself. (6.527 29) The overwhelming desire for
glory takes precedence over proper military tactics in this situation. While Homer gives great weight

Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is the undisputed father of India s missile program. He has breathed life
into ballistic missiles like the Agni and Prithvi, which put China and Pakistan well under India s
missile range. It is too exhausting to track Dr Abdul Kalam s achievements to date. In the 60s and

After that, he undertook a preliminary design study on Human Centrifuge. He designed and
developed a vertical takeoff and landing platform, and Hot Cockpit. Three years later, the
Aeronautical Development Establishment(ADE) was formed in Bangalore and he was posted there.
At ADE, Kalam served as a senior scientific assistant, heading a small team that developed a
prototype hovercraft. Defence Minister Krishna Menon rode in India s first indigenous hovercraft
with Kalam at the controls. But for reasons never explained, the project which would have been a
considerable international achievement in those days, was not encouraged. This was probably one
of the reasons why he moved out of ADE in 1962 and joined India s space program.
During 1963 82, he served the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) in various capacities.
Here Kalam initiated Fibre Reinforced Plastics(FRP) activities, then after a stint with the
aerodynamics and design group, he joined the satellite launch vehicle team at Thumba, near
Trivandram and soon became Project Director for SLV 3. As Project Director, he was responsible
for carrying out the design, development, qualification and flight testing of 44 major sub systems.

Relational and Object-oriented Database Management...
Relational and Object oriented Database Management Systems
A database is a shared collection of logically related data designed to meet the information needs of
multiple users in an organization (Hoffer 709). Databases contain data records or files, such as
sales transactions, product catalogs and inventories, and customer profiles. Databases allows
multiple users in an organization to easily access, manage, store, and update data when needed.
A database management system is software designed to assist in maintaining and utilization large
collections of data, and the need for such systems and their use. The first general purpose database
management system (DBMS) was designed by Charles Bachman who worked for General Electric
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fifth, DBMS can schedule concurrent access to the data, where when more than one user is
accessing the data; users are protected from the possibility of system failures. Sixth, DBMS can
reduce application development time since DBMS supports many important functions common to
the many applications (Ramakrishnan 8 9).
There are some disadvantages to using a DBMS that must be taken into consideration however.
For example, a DBMS is complex software best used with certain kinds of workloads. This relates
to its performance not being adequate for certain specialized applications. Second, another
application may have to manipulate entered data in order to manage. This can create a problem if
the second application does not support the designed query language.
Developers of DBMS software are generally diverse in numbers and chosen fields. IBM and
Oracle are two popular ventures for DBMS developers. Each venture has its own Database
Administrator that manages DBMS for that place of business. The Database Administrator often
designs schemas, provides security, and restores the system if a failure occurs. There is also a
Database Systems Manager who monitors the running of the system, and managing users requests.
There are three common types of databases prevalent in the business arena: Relational, Object
Oriented, and Object Relational.

ZBMS Sdn. Bhd. manages its knowledge in order to remain competitive amongst the construction
industry. Probst, Raub Romhardt (1999, p.1) stressed that companies must learn to manage their
intellectual assets (i.e. knowledge) in order to survive and compete in the knowledge society .
Indeed, knowledge management is concerned with the exploitation and development of the
knowledge assets (Davenport et al., 1998). This paper seeks to examine the Accounting Information

The government regulation has played a crucial role in boosting the industry growth and shifting it
from a state owned monopoly to market oriented model. Presently there are more than 800 million
subscribers with around 70 percent tele density. The industry has 15 GSMservice providers with 5
of them having pan India presence.
With the maturing of the industry, the differentiation among the services provided by the
players is also on a decline. The quality of service among the service providers is also converging
to the industry standard and TRAI recommendations. This resulted in a price war, especially
with the new players entering the existing circles. The price war has resulted in the erosion of
market share of existing players and also affected the profitability of all the service providers. The
average revenue per user is on a decline in the industry, and interestingly the lower tariff has not
increased the minutes of usage per connection. The existing players are working hard to maintain
steady addition to the subscriber base and to keep the costs of operation low. Although the market
may not be attractive for a new entrant, there seems to be a strong value and upside potential
remaining for the existing telecom operators to prevent the erosion of their market share.

Robots Advantages And Disadvantages
In more details I would say that they need some capabilities such as inference, learning, ... which
can involve thinks that popular opinion will associate to think and feel like we do but that does
not mean they are the same. A robot is not a human just like a plane is not a bird or a car is not a
horse. They may accomplish equivalent tasks but neither are doing it the same way as their
counterpart. First for the way a robot is currently used a self driving car, a drone surveying an
area (either for filming or military purpose), an industrial robot, a planetary rover they are just
complex tools meant to do the hard, dirty or boring things we do not want to or can t do on our
own. Having them the ability to infer is highly beneficial as it means that the user can ask them
what to do for example go to the closest grocery store instead of how to do it for example drive
straight for 200 yards, turn left, then drive straight for 2 miles, ... . having also this inference
allow them to be able to recover for unexpected situation (road is blocked due to an accident) and
re plan the best course of action accordingly. And this example just talk about path planning, this
can go further for more high level tasks which involves more than simple motion (for example a
home service robot that does simple chore at home such as setting your dinner table, ...). So in that
sense the robot need to be able to think in the sense that it needs to refine high abstraction

Leonardo Da Vinci s Influence On Aviation
Flight Physics
Leonardo da Vinci improved our knowledge of flight by persisting and following his dreams
even though we still today have yet to comprehend the full meaning of flight and how it works.
Due to his never ceasing effort, we now have a vast variety of flying machines and thanks to his
passion to this impossible feat, it seems as if we can do anything when it comes to flight
Leonardo da Vinci was Famous for many things In his lifetime from painting the Mona Lisa to
making the first tank, But probably the most interesting and fascinating thing about him was his
view on aviation. he did many things to improve his knowledge of flight. he invented many things

leonardo s ideas and inventions of flight vividly show he wanted to soar. Yet did he know that
2000 years later his inventions will bring humans into this the vault of heaven. His parachute
was a major success as it is still being used today as a tool for the military and a source of
excitement! (5 things Leonardo da Vinci did to change the world, ZME Science, 2008) His
ornithopter influenced modern day planes and how they functioned. So in effect, if it was not
for da Vinci then the planes we know today wouldn t exist. Leonardo da Vinci was so far ahead
of his time, many of his creations came a little too early in history to be viewed as practical by
his contemporaries. For example, he was fascinated by the idea that technology could put the man
in flight. He designed an early hang glider that could have functioned had it ever been
constructed. Although he outlined the plans for the world s first helicopter, the machine could
not have flown as the propellers turned against the direction of the rotors. His inspirations led
him to design the world s first parachute. In the long run, leonardo da vinci did so much more
than just change the world of aviation for generations to come, he changed the world by leading
others to follow in his footsteps. Leonardo da Vinci is a prime example of inspiration, courage, and
creativity for just about anybody that has a goal in mind

Background
MedImmune is dedicated to helping patients live better lives through advances in science and
medicine. Hundreds of thousands of patients have benefited from their products, which are
designed to treat or prevent infectious diseases, cancer and inflammatory diseases (Wikipedia,
2012). Their extensive research and development efforts are focused on these same areas.
MedImmune acquired FluMist when it purchased Aviron in 2002. FluMist is Aviron s lead product
for development and commercialization, it s a live virus vaccine delivered to the patient as a nasal
mist for the prevention of influenza (Wikipedia, 2012).

The problems can be grouped into two categories: problems with estimating cash flows and
problems with estimating discount rates. How long will it take to get a positive earning? What
number should the discount rate be?
Secondly, although the company took a long time before the introduction of the vaccine FluMist,
the nasal spray flu virus has been unable to obtain FDA approval for the vaccination of young
children and the elderly. FluMist also exists the problem of poor sales and difficult storage.
MedImmune paid $ 1.5 billion in 2001 after the acquisition of California Aviron in launching of
FluMist. At that time, MedImmune predicted that FluMist would become a blockbuster drugs. But
in fact, FluMist is quite poor performance on the market. Poor estimation on potential customers
and market growth should be the main reasons for the failure.
Recommendation
The MedImmune Company expected that the transaction will be completed in the first quarter of
2002. The transaction will write off the company s 2002 earnings levels and reach breakeven point
in 2003; then the level of its cash surplus will significantly grow (MedImmune, 2001). But from
both MedImmune and Avirons statement of operations we can see that huge gap of negative
earning will not be covered in 2003. From the news afterwards we know that according to the
agreement reached by the two companies, MedImmune used 1.075 shares of outstanding stock in

Analysis Of Vladimir Nabokov s Short Stories
Abstract
Vladimir Nabokov s short stories featured are Signs and Symbols, Bachmann and Terra Incognita.
Signs and Symbols focuses on a young boy institutionalized with a morbid paranoia of the outside
world and the impact this has on his elderly parents. Bachmann is about a genius composer whose
only source of affection is of Madame Perov, whose infatuation is seen in her constant attendance
of his piano recitals. Terra Incognito s main character ValliГ©re and his companions are losing
their minds and lives to strange hallucigenic fever in a remote country in the fictional country of
Zonraki. Strong aspects of all three short stories focus on the alienation of each of the protagonists
and the cause of this, either due to madness, great creativity or delusion. This link is forged between
the three, which would have not been as obvious. To attempt to show this association, the following
question arose, which is:
The alienated person is out of touch with himself as he is out of touch with any person. (Erich
Fromm, 1955) How does Nabokov convey alienation of characters well in the short stories Signs
and Symbols, Bachmann and Terra Incognita?
The three short stories, Signs and Symbols, Bachmann and Terra Incognita are going to be
examined. Nabokov is interested in people who are forcefully marginalized by society due to their
imaginations. He depicts them using a number of writer s tools such as the conflict between
characters, the opinions of secondary characters,

Who were the Huns, Ottomans, and the Austrians and how did...
In Europe s early history there were many influential superpowers that contributed to the way
Europe developed as a whole. Some of these powerful influences include the Huns, Ottomans, and
Austrians. These three forces left their mark on Europe, once they were no more. Whether it is
military tactics, or political ideas, without them Europewouldn t be what it is today. So who really
were the Huns, the Ottomans, and the Austrians? What made them so powerful that they
influenced Europe s course in history as a whole? The earliest were the Huns, one of the most
feared groups in all of history. They were nomads that used their unique war tactics to demolish
any tribe or civilization in their way. . In Europe the Huns fought and defeated the German Goths
of Eastern Europe, the Slavs, the Franks from France, and even the Roman Empire, plus and many
others. The Huns settled in the area that is now called Hungary. They caused so much fear and
chaos that even the rumor of one of their attacks would cause a community to travel elsewhere.
They traveled westward out of China. They left a clear path, on their way to the west, of panic
and devastation. It is even thought that the Great Wall of China was built as a precaution of a
Hunnish attack. The reason they were so feared was their strong and cunning military forces. They
were all skilled bowmen who rode on intimidating horses. This put all their enemies at a
disadvantage, which proved successful for the Huns. Even though bows were

Civic Vs Honda Research Paper
You have narrowed down your options to just two cars. Now, you have to decide on an answer.
Honda Accord versus Civic: Which is Right for You? Depending on the driver s circumstances in
life, needs and price range, the answer to this question can vary. While Honda Accords and Honda
Civics are grouped together as sedans, there are actually a number of differences between the two
vehicles.
Size Matters
The most obvious difference between an Accord and a Civic is the size. In 1982, Honda
introduced the Accord as their first vehicle in the Untied States. While both vehicles seat five
passengers, the Honda Civic is a compact car. The Accord is a mid size sedan, which gives it more
leg room for passengers. Since the Accord weighs about 500 pounds ... Show more content on

The Honda Accord gets 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles on highways. Meanwhile, the
Honda Civic gets 31 miles per gallon in the city and 42 miles per gallons for highway driving.
Due to this, the Civic is an ideal vehicle for commuters who have to drive long distances to get to
work every day. The continuously variable transmission and responsive steering make it easier to
navigate through traffic.
For extra room, choose the Accord. This model is ideal for car shoppers who want to have
comfortable seating and a lot of space. The lower gas mileage makes it less suited for commuting,
although it would be extremely comfortable to drive in over long distances. The Accord is also a
better choice for moving items due to the extra space in the interior of the car and the spacious
trunk.
For Power, Choose the Accord
While the Honda Civic is the best for gas mileage and commuting, the Honda Accord has much
more power. Currently, the Accord has 185horsepower, a torque of 181 lb ft and a 2.4 liter
engine. Meanwhile, the Civic has a 1.8 liter engine with 143 horsepower and 129 lb ft of torque.
This means that the Honda Accord has more power and a better hauling capacity than the

Capitalism vs Democracy
Capitalism and Democracy The political system and the economic system of the United States have
been intertwined since the very founding of our country. Although there are many different views
on how well the systems work or how they function, this has been a common thought shared by all
different sides. Some have an optimistic view of capitalism, while others feel as though capitalism
favors too few people. Two major points of view, the conservative and the reform liberal, describe
how capitalism works, and the role for the government in managing the marketplace, in two similar,
yet very different ways. First, we look at the thoughts of Milton Friedman, of the conservative point
of view. According to Friedman, capitalism is a free... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would also be the function of the government to regulate public goods , or something where it
is difficult or impossible to determine the particular user or the amount used. For example, a
lighthouse is a public good, because it is almost impossible to identify who uses the light to guide
them or how often they use it. Friedman ultimately believes that the government should stay out of
economic affairs as much as possible, for every time the government acts the freedom of the
people shrinks, and all government interventions have more costs then they do benefits. When the
government regulates the way a business operates, for example, requiring steel plants to put filters
on their smoke stacks, it increases the cost of doing business, which increases prices and decreases
sales, production, jobs and wages. Capitalism, according to Friedman, has a way of efficiently
working things out on its own, and needs very little government intervention. Many programs we

What Is Commodity Fetishism
In Marxism, the value of things, commodities, are based on the money it can be sold for, or the
other commodities it can be traded for (exchange value), or the social status it confers to its owner
(sign exchange value), rather than valued for how it is used (use value). For an object to become a
commodity it has to have exchange value or sign exchange value, which is determined by the
society where the object it is exchanged. This economic relationship between commodities and their
exchange value or sign exchange value is called commodity fetishism. To understand this theory
better we can employ it to The Age of Innocence. Early in the novel, Newland emphasize the
significance of his means of travel: ..transported through the slippery,

Franchising Franchising is a business model that allows companies to rapidly expand their market
share. According to Franchise.com (2015), there are three types of franchises: distributorships,
trademark licensing, and business format franchises. When two organizations enter into a
distributorship, the originating company provides the rights another company to sell their products.
An example of a distributorship is when an auto manufacturing company grants rights to a
dealership to sell their vehicles (Franchise.com, 2015). Trademark licensing is when one company
allows another company to use their trademark (Franchise.com, 2015). The business format
franchise authorizes franchisees to sell the parent company s products and/or services as well as
utilize their business model. This type of franchising is the most common and is the type needed to
obtain to open a new Cold Stone Creamery. Pros. There are many pros associated with buying a
new business format franchise. First, since the franchisee obtains the parent company s business
model, individuals who are interested in starting a new business but are not confident in their
abilities or lack experience in business, will receive a successful model to emulate (Williams, 2011).
In addition, the franchise may also help the franchisee determine the best location for the business,

Free Will Vs. Augustine s Free Choice Of The Will
In Book Two of Augustine s Free Choice of the Will, Augustine argues with Evodius about what it
means to understand. The book started by both Augustine and Evodius talking about the free
choice of will and where comes from. Evodius said, without free will we could never sin, so why
would God give it to us? Therefore, questioning if godknew man would do eviland abuse free will.
But, Augustine then explained that without wrong, there is no right. If we did not know what the
wrong thing to do was, we would never know what would be the right choice therefore the fear of
punishment for doing what was wrong is what makes us do good becoming a morality question.
We as humans have the choice of free will and we do not come to know evil. Evil

Distracted Driving Adverts
Making the Public Aware In 2013, there were about 3,200 deaths due to distracted driving. But,
people decided to make the public aware of these statistics by creating advertisements. So, when
you first look at this specific ad, the main thing you see is the dark red blood spewing through the
phone, onto this poor woman s face. The ad at first just looks gory, and shocking, but once you
read the words the whole picture comes together. This ad has these impressions because they really
stood out, with all the blood, and even having the words written in that person s blood. This ad is

Essay about The Extent to Which Tudor Rebellions Have...
The Extent to Which Tudor Rebellions Have Similar Causes
Tudor rebellions were caused by one or more of the following factors: dynastic, political,
religious, and social and economic. There was an element of both similarity and continuity in the
period as most of the rebellions were politically motivated starting with Warbeck s rebellion in
1491 until the end of the period with Essex s rebellion in 1601. This displays clear political
motives across the period. During the reign of Henry VII, many of the rebellions were dynastically
motivated with a series of challenges from pretenders to the throne, Simnel and Warbeck and
rebellions due to heavy taxation; Yorkshire and Cornish anti tax riots.... Show more content on

Nevertheless, dynasty was still a cause of Tudor rebellions but was replaced by succession
especially as Henry VIII did not have an heir and he himself did not have a legitimate claim to
the throne. This occurred with the political coup of Lady Jane Grey in 1553 and Wyatt s
rebellion in 1554 because of Henry VIII s reinstatement of both Mary and Elizabeth who had both
been previously removed from succession. The treason acts help to reduce rebellion as it became
easier to convict people of treason but by the end of the period the Tudor dynasty itself was far
more secure meaning that Wyatt never made public his desire to overthrow Mary as the Tudor
regime was now accepted.
Politically motivated rebellions always involved faction. Simnel and Warbeck s rebellion were
both politically motivated due to Yorkist and Lancastrian faction. Faction was of low importance
in Henry VII s reign as Henry Tudor limited it by control of patronage unlike both Elizabeth and
Henry VIII who advocated it. They had a divide and rule policy. The most common theme that ran
throughout all the politically motivated rebellions was resentment of lowborn ministers, for
example, Wolsey in 1525, Cromwell in 1556 and Essex in 1601 wanted to rid parliament of Cecil

Theme Of Feudal Class In The Canterbury Tales
Now I have told you shortly, in a clause,/ The rank, the array, the number and the cause/ Of our
assembly in this company (lines 711 14). Geoffrey Chaucer explains to his readers that he has
given a full description of each of his fellow pilgrims in his General Prologue to The Canterbury
Tales. Along with naming each character, he provides their profession which classifies each
pilgrim into one of three social classes: the religious class, the merchant class, or feudal order.
Chaucer provides a social commentary of the major social classes of his day, and though he
criticizes characters from each class, he most heavily criticizes the religious class more than any
other. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, is in favor of

The last character Chaucer describes in the feudal class is the Miller, a large and imposing man.
The physical description of him given includes, His beard, like any sow or fox, was red... (138).
The color red suggests that the Miller may be a Scotsman, the British and Scottish historically
disliked each other, perhaps extending to Chaucer. Furthermore, Chaucer stated that the Miller
was ... a master hand at stealing grain. He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew its quality and
took three times his due... (138). Clearly, the Miller is portrayed as a thief who takes what he
wants and is not above violence to achieve his goals. While everyone but the Miller are admired
in the feudal class, the people in the merchant class are both admired and criticized leaving
Chaucer s feeling to be neutral to the merchant class. Throughout Chaucer s Canterbury tales, he
describes the merchant class as more of neutral type of people, some are admired while others are
criticized. The author uses his personal knowledge to better explain his thoughts about the
characters who belong to the merchant class. The first one he mentions from the merchant class is
the Merchant, he is described as sitting high on his horse as well as making it to where none knew
that he was bad in debt. The narrator states that he does not care much about him, enough so that he
does not know his name. The next character Chaucer mentions is the

Deviance And Violence In Sports Analysis
After reading both chapters, I found the constructionist approach on deviance important as it
allows for diversity within sports. It would be extremely boring if individuals in a particular sport
had the same style of playing. The games would suffer due to a lack of excitement and possible
funding that are generated from sold tickets and merchandise. Because of its raw nature and
physical violence, I think sports such as Mixed martial arts are a great example of how deviance
and violence fall into sports. Numerous individuals including myself find these sports interesting as
the athletes withhold a sportethic that shows deviant overconformity. In MMA matches, mixed
martial artists can be seen with bloody faces and visible bruises, yet they still continue to fight in
order to gain distinction for their fighting skills. Their skills still from the type of violence called
brutal body contact where they are encouraged by coaches to use forceful physical contact to hurt

The Importance Of Human Values In Human Life
Humans have a tendency to indulge in luxuries, standing in mile long lines outside retail stores
in search for bigger and better devices despite already possessing everything necessary to live.
This facet that historically defines our species is traced back in author Yuval Noah Harari s
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, which details the evolution of Homo Sapiens from being
an ordinary link within the food chain to a dominating influence on the Earth s ecosystem. Harari
explores the patterns in history that have evolved our mental and physical state, asserting that this
evolutionary past follows one of history s few iron laws: luxuries tend to become necessities
and...spawn new obligations (Harari 78 79). In other words, inessential yet desirable items can
eventually become ordinary with prolonged exposure, leading to a dependency on such items and
an obligation to sustain its presence in humanlife. By understanding how these tendencies evolved
within history, we can learn to distinguish between our needs and desires in order to avoid
becoming hostage to the luxuries that entice us.
Within the book, Harari applies his law to the start of the Agricultural Revolution, where luxuries of
wheat and sugar emerged and ultimately transformed into essential commodities. When wheat was
initially introduced, it was only a marginal part of the human diet due to its limited abundance. Yet
as soon as humans realized that areas of wheat gathered many other game and food sources,

What Is The Current State Of Music Education Across...
This philosophy essay will focus on the current state of music education within secondary schools
across Australia, choosing to address the particular issue of student access to appropriate levels of
information, communication and technology interfaces (ICT s) within the classroom, and the
supporting role they play in music education. Secondary students do not always have equal
opportunities and miss out on music participation due to conditions surrounding music provision
e.g. due to a crowded curriculum (too many cross curricular activities and subjects), the impact of
other subjects, lack of confidence among music teachers and shortage of resources (Hoegh
Guldberg, 2013). This essay explores how the current lack of availability and use of ICT s for
music education purposes, as well as the general lack of music technology resources and facilities
can have a detrimental effect on student learning, or lack there of. If students do not have access to
the level of technology and support that they need to adhere to certain technological requirements
in the Australian Curriculum, then they are deprived of the full benefit of teaching and learning in
a modern technological era.
Recently in Australia, both the National Review of the School of Music Education and The
Australian Curriculum have identified the importance of technology in school music education
(Southcott Crawford, 2011). Along with this, independent surveys provide an accurate glimpse at

  • 2. Analysis of quot;Blood Wedding quot; Essay Federico Garcia Lorca s three plays, Blood Wedding, Yerma, and The House of Bernarda Alba share many symbolisms. Lorca (Short Biography) wrote about many subjects and objects that often have an unconscious double meaning. These unconscious symbols are known as archetypes, developed by the psychologist, Carl G. Jung. This paper will analyze these symbols using Jung s theory of the archetype. By doing so, the analysis will better explain some of the unconscious meaning and original thoughts behind Lorca s symbols. This is important because a detailed reading will allow the reader to clearly understand each symbol and why it is important to the society in the play, and to Lorca s society. To begin, Jung explains that an archetype is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since archetypes are the formulation of the results of countless experiences of our ancestors, it is possible for the archetype to cross section all experiences. This basically means that one object can symbolize the same thing in different events or experiences. Archetypal images are objects that allude to the instincts of man. The archetypes are the manifestations of the instincts, that is to say, creative impulses from the unconscious, (Goldrunner 107). An archetype always expresses a comparison. If someone talks about a tree and identifies it as the basis of life, it is neither one of these things, but actually a third unknown thing that can find a happy medium expression within the first two. The archetype will never let us forget the psychology of the past. It inspires our natural instincts, behavior, and thought. The importance of these instincts is immeasurable within literature that focuses on the injustices of society and its civilized culture. The repression of these instincts has allowed modern society to dictate how individuals should live. This is why the importance of symbols in literature usually has an archetypal background. Society has suppressed our natural thought to the extent that it can only be expressed within the symbolism of literature. In Lorca s Blood Wedding, blood has many significant symbolisms structured throughout the play. Blood is repeatedly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In other words, for being more talented or well known. Typically, this type of fame is reserved for celebrities and popular landmarks. However, being famous could also mean being recognized amongst friends for being kind. There is no clear limitation on what being famous could mean. In Naomi Shihab Nye s poem Famous , she describes her own feelings of what fame is. She describes the way that fame can only exist when there is something to be famous for. Her claim for her poem states that objects and people can be famous not because of their talent, but because they are memorable and familiar. Nye begins her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Struggle For Independence Between Deep Rooted African... Who were the Mau Mau? What fueled their short lived but symbolic rebellion? What is their significance in the struggle for independence that occurred in Kenya? What does understanding the insurgency teach us of the clashes between deep rooted African culture and the force of European civilization mission? The rebellion surprised the British early on in 1952 by its aggressiveness and early success in rallying up the masses for a common cause, equality. For decades the white British settlers took their lands and sent the indigenous Kikuyu into reservations which could not even come close to sustaining their ever growing pastoral population. The Second World War seems to have been the turning point for the majority of Kenyans who wanted equality with the Europeans (Elkins, 2005, p. 22) . However this was not only in Kenya, all around the continent African soldiers who had bled for the British empire discovered that the European man died just as he did when shot or stabbed, and this took away the superiority complex some of them might have had earlier. The duration and protracted effort of the counterinsurgency beg an evaluation of its influence on the fate of Kenya as a colony. Yet, decolonization did not arrive until nearly a decade later. The Mau Mau was as a result of African nationalism in Kenya, a somewhat violent resistance to imperialists and colonialist scattered across their lands and their resistance to demands for gradual political reform. Even though social networking sites allows people to interact and be friends with an infinite number of people, how many of those people can be considered as real friend or friends you can count on in the real world. A good benefit social networking sites offer is that they allow people to stay in touch with friends and family who live far away. Before social networking sites were created people did not have the privilege stay in contact with friends or family who live in a different city or country. People now have the privilege of sharing pictures, videos, sending messages and even instant chatting with their families and friends they are not able to see so often. Thanks to the introduction of these sites people now have easy access to the lives of their family and friends from far away. Losing touch with old friends or distant family members is less likely to happen when they see their faces and updates every day on their social network. Also, this could be used as an advantage for parents to communicate with their kids who are off to college or travel somewhere. The truth is that social networking has become part of people s lives. • 8. The Emergency Room Services ( Ed ) Going to the emergency room is not something most people want to do. However, on occasion it is necessary to utilize the emergency room services (ED). What necessitates that trip is debatable; social norms, prevailing trends, environmental demographics, culture, individual factors, the perception of illness and access to healthcare have all been discussed. It is not this authors intention to determine the root cause, but merely raise awareness that issues exist. Increased Patient Wait Times Result in Poorer Patient Outcomes. In the United States, between 1996 and 2003 emergency room visits rose from 9.3 million visits to 113.9 million visits; an increase of 26 percent with an annual visit rate of 35.7 visits per 100 persons in 1992 and 39.6 per 100 persons in 2005 (Hunt, K., Colby, D., Grimes, B., Bacchette, P., Callaham, M., 2008). As the demand for ED services increase, wait times increase, over crowding occurs, resources are strained and poorer patient outcomes are often the result. Just ask the Jeffers family about poor patient outcomes. In 2011, 2 year old Malyia Jeffers was taken to the ED by parents for an uncontrollable fever and flu like symptoms. At the ER as she and her parents waited nearly 5 hours to be been see by a physician, Malyia s illness progressed. By the time she was seen, Malyia was suffering from toxic shock, a failing liver and struggling to survive. After weeks of touch and go in Lucile Packard Children s Hospital intensive care unit, ... When he began drafting the first lines of code for Underground Hip Hop, Walder had one goal: he just wanted people to hear [his] music (p. 2). Walder s passion for his hobby is what drove him to initial success, but it was his dedication to bring underground rap and hip hop music to his fans that allowed for future accomplishments. A businessperson who wants to do everything himself/herself will quickly find that he/she is making no progress. Walder needs to trust his employee s abilities, and get past his fears of programmers quitting, leaving unfinished code. (p. 8). To combat this fear of losing employees, Walder should focus on creating and solidifying a strong organizational culture, instilling certain values among workers (Hill, 341). As the company grows in size, Walder will need to make more hires, especially on the technical side of operations. If not, he will be unable to keep the website functioning properly with the influx of site traffic as UGHH grows and develops. UGHH Financing Adam Walder sees his debt free business, a result of internally funded business practices, as a fact to boast about. Although this process does protect UGHH from accumulating too much debt, it also limits the company s expansion significantly. Debt can be harmful to many businesses, but there is also a concept called good debt ; the debt a company incurs to propagate it forward and expedite business processes. If UGHH were to take out loans and allow itself to acquire debt, it could have expanded into a suitable warehouse sooner, ordered more merchandise and marketed itself effectively. The current financing strategy that UGHH utilizes causes it to miss out on strategic business opportunities and limit its growth. Recommendation In today s economic environment, technology grows ... In the case of Adnan, he was provided with both of these rights and guarantees, but just because he was proven guilty in court does not mean he killed Hae Lee on January 13, 1999. On February 25, 2000, Adnan Masud Syed was found guilty of first degree murderfor the strangulation of Hae Min Lee, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and robbery (Francke, 2000). Perjury is evident throughout the case and Jay Wild s testimony, which ultimately changed the state s case and the course of the trial. If the same quality and quantity of evidence were provided in any other murder trial, it should still be unlikely that someone could be convicted of a crime that serious. Adnan s first crime is an example of how our justice system is still flawed. Multiple physical and substantial pieces of evidence are needed to prove that Adnan is guilty. In Adnan s first case, evidence was ineffectively used and a large amount of evidence was left out. Looking at the case as a whole, the state s case was largely based off of whether or not Adnan is capable of murder and the words of one man. Adnan was poorly represented and his defense seemed unorganized and insignificant. Finding Adnan guilty of Hae s murder based off of one man s testimony, who admitted to repeatedly lying, and cell phone records that have been proven to be inaccurate is illogical. Analysis of new evidence in comparison to previous evidence used to convict Adnan will show that he is, in fact, innocent. If Adnan s second trial focusses more on relevant, new information rather than two pieces of questionable evidence and Adnan s character, capability, or emotional connection to Hae, the jury should find ... The reason for this, is because stage fright hits people differently and the reaction of their body is different too. On step three (Look,Listen and Learn), this step seems to be a bit complicated because there are many reasons why people get stage frights and trying to get people to be themselves on stage is challenging. For example, maybe people have insecurities about themselves whether it s physically of mentally. The idea of people being insecure physically can be hard because maybe they don t like how they look or act in front of an audience. • 12. The Pros And Cons Of Multitasking Having single pointed focus and no multitasking In today s modern hustle and bustle, people are very much preoccupied by their work, are always in hurry, engrossed in busy schedules and easily get agitated so much so that people have ingrained and imbibed a word to describe their efforts to respond to the many pressing demands on our time: Multitasking. Used for decades to describe the parallel processing abilities of computers, multitasking is now shorthand for the human attempt to do simultaneously as many things as possible and as quickly as possible. But more recently, ill effects of multitasking have begun to emerge. Numerous studies have shown the sometimes fatal danger of using cell phones and other electronic devices while driving, for example, and several states have now made that particular form of multitasking illegal ! Dr. Edward Hallowell, a Massachusetts based psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and has written a book with the self explanatory title CrazyBusy, has been offering therapies to combat extreme multitasking for years; in his book he calls multitasking a mythical activity in which people believe they can perform two or more tasks simultaneously. In one recent study, Russell Poldrack, a psychology professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, found that multitasking adversely affects how you learn. Even if you learn while multitasking, that learning is less flexible and more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Douglas Adams uses cause and effect to make a persuasive agrument about the relative impact of the an action by explaining cause and effect is a never ending cycle. Adam s text is shows how people actions can effect people/things and aren t consciously aware of how this effect people every day life. There is nothing that can be done to prevent the effects of the actions that are being taken it is just a part of life. Arthur said, I seem to be having a tremendous difficulty with my life style by Arthur saying caused a tremendous warthat could of been prevented for happening. A rhetorial similarity between The Penultimate Peril and The Hitchiker s Guide is both texts argue that cause and effect have a cycle that keeps going and certain things led to something and than back again. Peoples actions determine the different outcomes that a person decides to do. Than the outcomes have other outcomes and that continues to go in a circle. A difference between the two texts is Adams thinks each individual cause has a specific outcome while Snickets thinks an action can have many outcomes. In The Hitchiker s Guide the reader can see there is only one cause to why everything happen he is more specific in his story. In The Penultimate Peril Snickets the reader can see the mysteries could have been solved in many ways. Snikets follow the basic rule of cause and effect which shows any effect can have multiple possible causes; the task of cause and effect is to determine the correct one. Snicket made a metaphor to that when he said, the world is like a calm pond, and that anytime a person does even the smallest thing, it is as if a stone has dropped into the pond, spreading circles of ripples further and further out, until the entire world has been changed by one tiny action. Out of the three pieces that the Artiste Orchestra prepared to the Masquerade Concert, Halloween Spooktacular, arranged by Bob Phillips, was definitely the hardest piece. Not only was it long, but it was fast and had passages with difficult fingerings. By no means have I perfected this piece, but I used several different practice techniques to help me master the fast tempoand difficult fingerings. The technique that I used the most was probably using a metronome. I would start by playing a passage very slowly, probably around 80 100 beats per minute depending on the passage. Then, once I had mastered the passage at that speed, I would increase the tempo by 10 beats per minute and practice the passage at that speed until I had mastered it. Then, I would increase the tempo another 10 beats per minute and repeat the same process. I would continue this same process until I had mastered that section at tempo. It was at these slower speeds that I could really focus on the little things, such as intonation, rhythm, dynamics and articulation because by focusing on these elements as slow speeds, it would be easier to bring them into the piece at faster speeds. Another practice technique I attempted to use to practice Halloween Spooktacular was playing along with a recorded version of the piece. This is a technique I used for several pieces last year because I find it helpful to hear all the parts of a piece, not just my own. Unfortunately, after one or two attempts to play along ... The Effects of Fracking on the Environment Essay While it is true fracking , a procedure to obtain natural gas removal from shale formations, it is also true there have been infrastructure security issues associated with this practice. Furthermore, there have been ecological considerations from fracking brought to the forefront by countless environmentalists. Indeed, hydraulic fracturing, as it is referred to, is a process by which shale gas and oil is uprooted from a depth far below the earth s exterior. The process of extracting shale gas and oil is employed aggressively while water is forced deep beneath the earth surface through a geological arrangement. From this arrangement, oil and gas is exerted back to the earth s surface. Moreover, once the hydraulic fracturing process is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anotherwords, what control measures are enforced to ensure all contaminants are entirely removed to guarantee a high level of quality assurance and security of the petroleum sectors within the nation s infrastructures? Are there residual contaminants affecting the quality of fuel supplied to the nation s energy consumers? From a preceding viewpoint, it can be related to the Colorado Floods that occurred in September 2013. Even the prevailing thought of hazardous waste introduced to the Colorado geographical landscape does not eliminate the second and third order affects imposed on the nation s petroleum pipeline infrastructure by way of corrosion, introducing chemicals into the pipeline arteries through small cracks that may extend beyond Colorado, an implication that cannot be ruled out. Water contamination prevention or across the board programs from the negative effect of hydraulic fracturing should be an expectation from petroleum energy producers. Moreover, it reminds us of an infrastructure security vulnerability, which is not often specified, when hydraulic fracturing is correlated to the role water functions through the conventional petroleum refining process, along with vast arrays of petroleum pipelines that exist across the nation s geographical landscapes. Many of the tales focus on mortals, while the Friar s tale features a demon as a main character. However, the way warfare is treated in the two epics is different. This can be attributed to many factors including the time between the composition of the pieces, the fact that pieces were written by different authors, and the fact that the pieces were written in different places. We can use these pieces to get a view of what the society that produced them thought about war and how the view of war changed as time went on in the ancient world. The Iliadis a poem of war. Perhaps because if the listener knows something about the vanquished opponent, that gives more glory to the conquering hero. Another reason could be that for the vanquished in death they receive some measure of glory for fighting bravely against a famous hero like Ajax. There are some disadvantages to using a DBMS that must be taken into consideration however. For example, a DBMS is complex software best used with certain kinds of workloads. First for the way a robot is currently used a self driving car, a drone surveying an area (either for filming or military purpose), an industrial robot, a planetary rover they are just complex tools meant to do the hard, dirty or boring things we do not want to or can t do on our own. Having them the ability to infer is highly beneficial as it means that the user can ask them what to do for example go to the closest grocery store instead of how to do it for example drive straight for 200 yards, turn left, then drive straight for 2 miles, ... . having also this inference allow them to be able to recover for unexpected situation (road is blocked due to an accident) and re plan the best course of action accordingly. Signs and Symbols focuses on a young boy institutionalized with a morbid paranoia of the outside world and the impact this has on his elderly parents. Bachmann is about a genius composer whose only source of affection is of Madame Perov, whose infatuation is seen in her constant attendance of his piano recitals. Terra Incognito s main character ValliГ©re and his companions are losing their minds and lives to strange hallucigenic fever in a remote country in the fictional country of Zonraki. Strong aspects of all three short stories focus on the alienation of each of the protagonists and the cause of this, either due to madness, great creativity or delusion. They traveled westward out of China. They left a clear path, on their way to the west, of panic and devastation. It is even thought that the Great Wall of China was built as a precaution of a Hunnish attack. The reason they were so feared was their strong and cunning military forces. Although there are many different views on how well the systems work or how they function, this has been a common thought shared by all different sides. Some have an optimistic view of capitalism, while others feel as though capitalism favors too few people. Two major points of view, the conservative and the reform liberal, describe how capitalism works, and the role for the government in managing the marketplace, in two similar, yet very different ways. For example, a lighthouse is a public good, because it is almost impossible to identify who uses the light to guide them or how often they use it. Friedman ultimately believes that the government should stay out of economic affairs as much as possible, for every time the government acts the freedom of the people shrinks, and all government interventions have more costs then they do benefits. When the government regulates the way a business operates, for example, requiring steel plants to put filters on their smoke stacks, it increases the cost of doing business, which increases prices and decreases sales, production, jobs and wages. Capitalism, according to Friedman, has a way of efficiently working things out on its own, and needs very little government intervention. Many programs we have today, such as social security, Medicare, and welfare to name a few, Friedman would do away with, as they are the responsibility of the individual, not the government. The marketplace is even more proportional to public demand than the political system is, and will constantly cycle through different phases and work itself out without the need of government regulation. The Extent to Which Tudor Rebellions Have Similar Causes Tudor rebellions were caused by one or more of the following factors: dynastic, political, religious, and social and economic. There was an element of both similarity and continuity in the period as most of the rebellions were politically motivated starting with Warbeck s rebellion in 1491 until the end of the period with Essex s rebellion in 1601. This displays clear political motives across the period. During the reign of Henry VII, many of the rebellions were dynastically motivated with a series of challenges from pretenders to the throne, Simnel and Warbeck and rebellions due to heavy taxation; Yorkshire and Cornish anti tax riots.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, dynasty was still a cause of Tudor rebellions but was replaced by succession especially as Henry VIII did not have an heir and he himself did not have a legitimate claim to the throne. This occurred with the political coup of Lady Jane Grey in 1553 and Wyatt s rebellion in 1554 because of Henry VIII s reinstatement of both Mary and Elizabeth who had both been previously removed from succession. The treason acts help to reduce rebellion as it became easier to convict people of treason but by the end of the period the Tudor dynasty itself was far more secure meaning that Wyatt never made public his desire to overthrow Mary as the Tudor regime was now accepted. Politically motivated rebellions always involved faction. Simnel and Warbeck s rebellion were both politically motivated due to Yorkist and Lancastrian faction. Faction was of low importance in Henry VII s reign as Henry Tudor limited it by control of patronage unlike both Elizabeth and Henry VIII who advocated it. They had a divide and rule policy. The most common theme that ran throughout all the politically motivated rebellions was resentment of lowborn ministers, for example, Wolsey in 1525, Cromwell in 1556 and Essex in 1601 wanted to rid parliament of Cecil the ... The Importance Of Human Values In Human Life Humans have a tendency to indulge in luxuries, standing in mile long lines outside retail stores in search for bigger and better devices despite already possessing everything necessary to live. This facet that historically defines our species is traced back in author Yuval Noah Harari s Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, which details the evolution of Homo Sapiens from being an ordinary link within the food chain to a dominating influence on the Earth s ecosystem. Harari explores the patterns in history that have evolved our mental and physical state, asserting that this evolutionary past follows one of history s few iron laws: luxuries tend to become necessities and...spawn new obligations (Harari 78 79). In other words, inessential yet desirable items can eventually become ordinary with prolonged exposure, leading to a dependency on such items and an obligation to sustain its presence in humanlife. By understanding how these tendencies evolved within history, we can learn to distinguish between our needs and desires in order to avoid becoming hostage to the luxuries that entice us. Within the book, Harari applies his law to the start of the Agricultural Revolution, where luxuries of wheat and sugar emerged and ultimately transformed into essential commodities. When wheat was initially introduced, it was only a marginal part of the human diet due to its limited abundance.
