Toyot The Car Company
Toyoda and Honda are both automobile giants in the world. As everyone knows, Toyota is Japan s
No.1 car company, and Honda is the second car company in Japan. Toyota was founded by Kiichiro
Toyoda in 1937 in Japan, two years after he built his first car. The company began to produce cars,
trucks, vans and SUVs, expanding rapidly through the years. One of Toyota s notable achievements
was the creation of the high end luxury brand, Lexus. Its rival, Honda, came a few years later. Soichiro
Honda first established the Honda Technical Research Institute in 1946 to develop and produce
motorbike engines. In 1948, Honda Motor Company was founded. Honda then joined forces with
finance expert Takeo Fujisawa to build up the company. Toyota s mission ... Show more content on

Toyota has also cancelled the Matrix 5 door hatchback version for 2014, making all Corollas 4 door

Symbolism Of The Spider In The Chosen Chapter 51
In Chaim Potok s novel The Chosen, specifically chapter 9, Potok was able to symbolically delineate
Reuven and Danny s lives with a reference to a spider entrapping a fly. To start off, Potok introduced
the spider in the allegory as Reb Saunders. When Reuven noticed what was going on near him, he
recalled seeing the spider and saying, A spider had spun a web across the corner of the upper rail, and
there was a housefly trapped in it now... the spider, a small, gray, furry looking spider, with long,
wispy legs and black eyes, move across the web toward the fly (Potok 173 174). Reb Saunders can be
seen as the spider from mainly the physical characteristics of it as well as the actions. For example,
when Reuven describes the spider having black eyes and gray, furry looking , Reb Saunders falls
under all of those features. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, when Reuven saw that the spider had created a spider web, it can symbolize how Reuven was
looking from the outside in to an entire different life for Danny and how Reb Saunders had created a
world of Hasidism that Danny was confined to. Moreover, Chaim Potok used the fly s actions to
convey a message about Danny. As Reuven was observing the fly he noted, The fly s tiny black legs
flayed the air fiercely, then its wings were free again, buzzing noisily, but it s body remained intact
(Potok 174). Danny can be seen as the fly because he was being kept from the outside world by his
father, the spider, with his web he created in order to ensure Danny became a

Invitation To A Journey Summary
Invitation to a Journey: A Roadmap for Spiritual Formation is dedicated to spiritual formation. This
can be seen by how it integrates spiritual practice with God s word and with the goal of guiding the
reader toward transformation in the image of Christ. Mulholland doesn t simply cover the traditionally
recognized disciplines, but instead exposes the reader to many aspects of formation rarely discussed in
detail like how our formation involves and impacts others and how personality structures affect
formation. He does talk about the classic four stage pilgrimage of awakening, purgation, illumination,
and union but keeps from making them the main focus. The book is broken into four sections, The
Road Map, The Vehicle, The Journey, and Companions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process reveals our cross, or area where we must die and be raised into the newness of Christ s
image. To do so requires the step of consecration where we must recognize our cross point and accept
the transforming work of Christ. These two steps begin the process of being transformed into Christ s
image, which is the essence of our forming journey and a vital part of the definition of spiritual
formation. Mulholland then gives extended attention to how our spiritual formation affects those
around us. We are conformed to Christ s image for the sole purpose of being in a relationship with
both God and with others. The example given in support, is Christ and in his sacrifice, which was for
all; he died totally and completely for all and such is our call in the transforming process of spiritual
formation. This concept I thought was the easiest part of the book because it was the most obvious
until I examined my heart. Right now I cannot say that I would be willing to die for anyone because I
still value my life more than some people. He presented the dying for others as if it was not only
simply easy but as if it was the easiest thing but I am finding dying to myself to be the hardest
concept.Maybe it is my

Cassius Dio s Roles Of The Empire And Augustus
Cassius Dio insists the empire and Augustus owe an extraordinary amount to Gaius Maecenas, Marcus
Agrippa, and to a lesser extent, Livia. While the empire had problems with stability from time to time,
the three of them had their roles in cultivating prosperity. The role of lifelong friend and confidante is
attributed to Agrippa, as his loyalty ceased to cultivate throughout the years. The trifecta aided
Augustus in ruling and improving the empire, while sporadically corralling the Octavian mindset
inside of Augustus. Augustus single handedly appointed Agrippa to settle disputes that arose on the
frontier, and in Rome. He was the ultimate plug n play general of the empire, and proved his worth
early on until his death in 12 B.C through military ventures and building projects. Gaius Maecenas
had a profound impact on Augustus decision to retain the power that he acquired after defeating Marc
Antony and Cleopatra, which shaped the government into what eventually existed in Dio s time. He
also handled important business in Rome while the emperor was absent, acting as a sit in caesar, if you
will. Livia attempted to promote the women of Rome, while also helping Augustus soothe
relationships with the latter s enemies. However, mischievous presumptions loom from Dio around
Livia regarding certain disastrous events. Nonetheless, without Livia, Maecenas, and especially
Agrippa, Octavian might not have ever had the chance to rule Rome. Cassius Dio portrays Marcus

Codified Constitutions Are Not An Essential Element Of...
Introduction
It is generally considered that codified constitutions are an essential element of democracy in that by
clearly setting out the functions of each branch of government and their relations with each other and
their citizens, this prevents an over powerful executive developing and ensures rights of citizens are
protected. However, I believe that codified constitutions are not an essential element of democracy as
there are examples of robust democracies which have uncodified constitutions and at times codified
constitutions are more of a hindrance than a help to the democratic process.
Codified Constitutions are often not very democratic
A codified constitution is a constitution in which key constitutional provisions are ... Show more

In 2012, Republicans won a majority of seats in the House despite securing only 48 percent of the vote
and to win a majority of 218 House seats, the Democratic candidates would need to win ten million
more votes than Republicans in 2016. (Richie,The Nation,2014) This often leads to situations in which
the will of the democratic majority are ignored as seen after the Sandy Hook Massacre in 2012, where
Bird (Occupy Democrats,2015) argues 90% of Americans wanted greater background checks for guns.
However, the gun reform measures were defeated in the Senate leading an infuriated Obama(2013) to
argue how can something that has 90% support not happen?
Moreover, the codified US constitution does not even provide for a democratic electoral system to
elect the President. The electoral college system is not very proportional in the sense that the winner of
the electoral college doesn t necessarily have the majority of popular vote. This has happened a
number of times; the most recent being in 2000 with the election of Bush and Gore. Gore won 48.38%
of the popular vote and received 266 electoral college votes (Leip,2012), whereas Bush got 47.87% of
the vote and 271 electoral college votes. Leip,2012)

Research Paper On Snow Leopard
The Snow Leopard is a beautiful and majestic creature endangered animal. There are anywhere
between 4,510 and 7,350 left in the wild. Snow Leopards are a very timid creature, if you would try to
find one in the wild the easiest way to find one is to find their den. The snow leopard occupies an
extremely patchy and fragmented realm of long narrow mountain systems and islands scattered
throughout a vast region surrounding the Central Asian deserts and plateaus. Though this region is
quite large, 2.3 million km 2, only about 1.6 million of that is occupied by the snow leopard.
What is this animal s habitat like?

Waterproofing Myths
3 Myths About Basement Waterproofing
Homeowners with basements are well aware of the potential problems it has, which includes flooding,
mold, and mildew issues. Thankfully, there are several methods available to you for basement
waterproofing. Before you pick a method to use for your basement, it s important to understand the
truth behind the following 3 myths.
Damp Proofing Inside A Home Prevents Moisture From Seeping Inside
Tar is a great way to help keep your basement dry, but it will not completely eliminate moisture in a
basement. It s typical for homes to have a concrete or brick basement, which are materials that are
very porous. Rainwater can eventually seep into the concrete or bricks, which will cause condensation
to form.

It is important to repair cracks immediately instead of letting them get worse. Unfortunately, you need
to fix the parts of the crack that you can and cannot see if you want to fix it properly. Otherwise, a
patch over a visible crack is only a costly temporary fix.
You ll need a contractor to do exterior crack repair to ensure the problem is fixed properly. It s a more
involved repair process, since they will need to dig around your home to get access to the basement s
exterior walls. They will apply polymer material to the outside of the walls, which will become a
protective barrier against water and moisture, preventing it from getting inside.
Waterproofing Material Installed Under your Floor Prevents Dampness
Cracks can be very troubling in a basement, which is why some homeowners decide to have a
waterproof underlay installed underneath the surface of the basement floor. It works great for places
like a bathroom, since moisture is present and not very prevalent, but not so great for a basement floor.
The waterproof underlay isn t fool proof. While it can help prevent humidity from building up,
keeping your floor dry, it shouldn t be the only

Should The U.s. Continue Its Role As A Global Police...
Should the U.S. continue its role as a global police force
A brief look at the steady decline of U.S. hegemony
The origins of U.S. regional dominance in the 60s and 70s
Following the second World War, the U.S. suddenly found itself the dominant economic and military
might in a devastated world. As the British Empire faded, into the vacuum a new empire arose and
armed with a nuclear deterrent, the U.S began to exert its global influence.
Initially, this influence confined itself to a peace keeping role with bases in Europe and Asia, but as its
influence and power spread, like every other empire, it s policing began to resemble its foreign policy
and took on all the aspects of interference. This interference started to become apparent in the 60s and
70s, when its business interests became threatened and it actively began to orchestrate coups to further
its own economic interests.

Themes In Rodman Philbrick s Freak The Mighty
In the book Freak The Mighty we learn about the themes. One of the biggest themes in this story is
don t judge somebody based off of their appearance. My personal experience with this is when i heard
of this artist Halsey, i immediately thought ok well she must suck because of her past songs did not
really go well with what her new songs were. I listened to a few of her songs and started to really like
her new music. It relates to the theme of the book Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick because
this sort of taught me to just try to learn new things and to not judge because i might just be wrong.
The character of Loretta Lee is first described as this scrawny, yellow haired, women with small, hard
eyes and blurry red lips. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we were to judge him solely on his appearance, we might assume that he is just like his father
because in photos even Max can see that he looks just like Kenny kane, you might assume that Max is
mean but really he doesn t turn out to be, he is just quiet.. In fact, when we first see him, we see that
he doesn t really defend himself from anybody, for example Tony D. we first see Tony d. messing with
max in the beginning and Max just stays quiet and doesn t tell Tony D. off. This shows that he is not
one to really ever put up a fight with anybody. Maxwell also shows that he cares for Freak when he
tells Freak to slow down on his eating because he doesn t want Freak to choke. This shows that Max
does care for people and isn t what everyone pegs him to be. However, later we see him yell at his dad
on page 128 I saw you kill her! I saw you kill mom! in defense for Loretta because his father is
choking her. This confirm/refutes our initial judgment by showing that Maxwell is caring, he is not
mean to people he is just quiet and he is certainly not like his father because even gram says that Max

Fast Food Nation
Issues Surrounding the Nation s Slaughterhouses In the book, Fast Food Nation, Eric Schlosser
discusses the problems that the nation is facing with fast food restaurants. Schlosser wrote this book
because he was concerned with where the fast food industry was taking America. He voices his
concern about the children and their health regarding meat bacteria, and the fat content of the food. He
also mentions how potato farmers, cattle ranchers, and chicken raisers are suffering from the industry
controlling prices too low. Another worry Schlosser has is how the meat packing factories for these
restaurants treat their workers and ultimately how careful they are with the meat. There are many
horrifying stories about the harsh injuries and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of these managers looking out for their workers, they try to hide the injuries, and will give
injured employees easier jobs until they are healed, if they agree to not visit the doctor. They feel the
need to hide minor injuries because a supervisor must meet production goals, keep the number of
recorded injuries low, and most importantly, keep the meat flowing down the line without interruption
(Schlosser 175). The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is responsible for
inspecting meatpacking plants and making sure they are operating and functioning properly. The old
OSHA policy was that, there were 1,300 inspectors and over 5 million workplaces to be looked at. The
employers would expect an inspection about every 80 years (Schlosser 179). Now, for an inspection to
even be done, the factories injury rate must be higher than the national average. There is a slim chance
of that happening because the records are kept by the companies officials, since the have direct control
on the number of injury reports. Schlosser brings up an interesting statement about OSHA s policy
when he says they did indeed reduce the number of recorded injuries in meatpacking plants. It did not,
however, reduce the number of people getting hurt. It merely encouraged companies, in the words of a
subsequent congressional investigation, to understate

Abraham Lincoln And The Emancipation Proclamation
In school we are taught that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. This statement is reinforced
continuously throughout our education, beginning from the time we are in elementary school to when
we are in high school. However, it s never really expounded upon when taught. The discussion never
goes further than Abraham Lincoln enacted the Emancipation Proclamation and thus freed the slaves ,
but is still able to instill the implication that he did so out of his own moral values and that life for ex
slaves was better for it. The truth of the matter is actually the complete opposite. The emancipation
proclamation was a purely political decision that instead of truly freeing the slaves, only served to
keep them bound. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin County, Kentucky. He
moved between Kentucky and Indiana a little bit with his family and also traveled with his friend
when he was old enough to do so. In 1831 he settled down in New Salem where he lived for 6 years,
until he moved to Springfield, Illinois. He was a member of the Whig party, where under the guise of
John T. Stuart, he studied law, obtaining licensure in 1836, and a year later became Stuart s partner. He
was successfully part of the Springfield legislature and when he retired, had a successful law practice.
He also served one term in Congress but after that term was done, he was so discouraged by the

Is Iago An Orator In Othello
Who is Iago? How does one arrive at such evil intentions? How does one succeed in playing out these
intentions? Iago is a true orator. Or is he? Quintilian has a few ideas about what constitutes an orator
and what bars a person from that title. Quintilian might have a hard time labelling Iago based on his
outlines for an orator in his Institutes of Oratory . Shakespeare clearly wrote Iago with the intention of
embodying vice, anger, and revenge in Othello . However, Iago s eloquence and rhetorical prowess
may be at odds with Quintilian s manual. Iago proves himself an orator through his ability to speak on
any occasion, with success, and bases his rhetoric on imagination and subtlety. On the other hand, his
rhetoric s intention, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why, say they are vile and false (III, iii) to imply that he is saving Othello from hearing such awful
thoughts. Then he tells Othello You cannot, if my heart were in your hand;/ Nor shall not, whilst tis in

that the information Iago is withholding is crucial to know. Once Othello essentially begs Iago, he
asserts that now I shall have reason/ To show the love and duty that I bear you (III, iii). This ruse baits
Othello into thinking that he needs the knowledge that Iago has, and that it is more important and valid
than it really is while setting Othello into a state of mind to truly consider and believe the implications
that Iago is making. This line also plays upon Othello s assumption and belief that Iago wants not only
what is best for him, but that Iago would sacrifice himself for him. Therefore, Iago uses rhetoric to
make imaginary faults plausible. Next, Iago is a character who adapts to each event, occasion, and
position that he find himself in. He is able to speak to the advantage of his master plan regardless of
the situation that presents itself. Iago proves himself a chameleon of rhetoric. He is able to fit his plan
into all points of his rhetoric without a fault, just as Quintilian stated that an orator

Biologics For Psoriasis Essay
Introduction
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease in which the growth rate of skin cells is sped up by a faulty
immune system. It is a chronic, and there is no definitive cure for psoriasis. There are many treatments
available to control symptoms, and the newest treatments available are biologic drugs.
Biologics for Psoriasis work by blocking the actions of T cells or inhibiting proteins that cause
psoriasis symptoms to develop. Biologics are a promising treatment for psoriasis. However, there are
still various concerns surrounding their use. Because they are a recent development, no studies have
been conducted to uncover the long term effects of these powerful drugs.

These two proteins play a role in promoting a hyperactive immune system; inhibiting their function
reduces inflammation and leads to an improvement in psoriasis. Stelara is a biologic that targets
interleukin 12 and interleukin 23 to alleviate psoriasis symptoms.
Common side effects from using Stelara include respiratory infections, headaches, and fatigue. Other
more serious risks include life threatening infections, cancer, allergic reactions, and rare brain diseases
that may be fatal.
Worth the Risk?
Biologics are a recent discovery in the field of medicine. There is still much that is unknown about
their long term side effects. A few biologics have already been taken off the market due to safety
concerns while many others have never made it past test stages due to their risks. Raptiva (efalizumab)
was pulled off the market in 2009 due to fatal side effects and central nervous system disorders.
Although biologics are considered to be some of the promising new psoriasis treatments, they are not
compatible with everyone. They may cause severe effects to some individuals. Due to the serious
risks, they pose, careful consideration must be taken before using them to battle

Arrogance Of Greek Heroes In Odyssey, Aeneid, And
Arrogance of Greek Heroes
Often readers will criticize the champions of classical and medieval epics for egotism. Critics cite
examples from the Odyssey, the Aeneid, and Beowulf of conceit and egocentric behavior. Odysseus,
Aeneas, and Beowulf display a well known arrogance befitting their accomplishments. The motivation
for this arrogance, to complete these tasks, to perform these feats, is often over generalized to the
point of inaccuracy and confusion. One must not let such misinterpretations interrupt the
humanization of these characters. Through the examination of the desires and behavior of these epic
heroes, we can discover an underlying need for recognition or honor. In classical and medieval

forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low temperatures as
well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of models to choose from for
weather forecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on my atmospheric situation.
Due to the fact that I live in Missouri I found it difficult to use some of the methods due to the fact that
the weather is constantly changing. I originally thought I could use the Persistence Forecasting Model,
but then I realized that the weather changes to often for it to be the same each day. It would have been
a better option if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So I began to look up the long term average of weather conditions for each day in order to predict the
weather for the given day. Most of the time it was pretty precise but it could have been better.
Out of the six models I found the Numerical Model to be the best choices when creating a forecast
since it seemed to be the most accurate, due to the fact that it measures uses calculations and takes into
consideration the pressure, temperature, winds, humidity, clouds and precipitation. Out of all the
numerical models I chose to specifically use the North American Mesoscale model (NAM) because it
was specific for my atmospheric situation.
Despite using the models for forecasting, I learned you have to take into consideration the different
surface features including the different types of fronts and pressure systems.
Overall, I have learned that being a meteorologist is not the path for me. The different models of
forecasting are all very different and often hard to read. It takes a lot of time and patients to look
through all the different models and understand them. I am a type of person who likes immediate
answer and rather than having to go through multiple steps to figure out one

Abstract
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is an autoimmune disease within the appearance of autoantibodies that
fights against nuclear antigens within the body of a person who is living with SLE and the
involvement of their organ systems, including the kidneys. The rigorous events that cause an onset of
medical signs of SLE are not yet well understood. However, the researcher are usingnumerous mouse

These alien like materials are known as antigens. Having an autoimmune condition such as SLE, the
body s system may lose its ability to know the transformation among remote substances knowing as
antigens and our normal cells and tissues. Our body system makes up these well known antibodies
engaged against itself. Our immune system protects our antibodies from the reaction within the body
antigens to form protection and developments. The protected multiple factors build up in our tissues
and can cause inflammation, injury to the normal cell, tissues, and cause pain. African American,
Latino, and Asian women are more commonly affected by SLE than Caucasian women. What are the
different types of lupus? Do you know that there is currently three types of lupus? Discoid lupus,
systemic lupus erythematosus, and lupus like a disorder called destroyer made lupus. Discoid lupus

The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless...
The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless steel base plate resulted in a very fine
microstructure which transitions into a coarser one towards the Ti64 layer, as seen in Figure 1. FeTi
intermetallics are commonly form during traditional fusion welding, as well as diffusion bonding of Ti
based and Fe based alloy [1 5]. Microstructure along the interface seen in the current study was
similar to that obtained by diffusion bonding of micro duplex steel to Ti64 alloy by Orhan et al. [30].
A crack is visible in the figure, which is representative of the entire bonded region. We hypothesize
that cracking occurred due to residual stresses brought about by the differences in thermal properties
between the two materials. Similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bright and dark regions along the NiCr and Ti64 interface observed in the current study were similar
to the interface morphology observed by Kundu et al. Similar unmelted particles in CoCrMo Ti64
compositionally graded structures were also reported by Balla et al. [16] that was also processed via
LENSTM. However, in the current work, these regions are completely spherical as opposed to the
earlier studies where the regions were elongated or needle like. Such difference is hypothesized due to
availability of time for diffusion. Diffusion bonding is carried out for a longer time and hence there is
more diffusion across the interphase where as the LENSTM based solidification is a rapid process.
The bright regions along the interphase observed are intermetallics of Ti64 and NiCr alloys. Based on
the EDS mapping and published literature data [18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti,
NiTi, Ti2Ni and β Ti. Further investigation is needed to confirm different phase formation in these
layers.
EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into
Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents Ti
from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based
intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the bond
strength of the joint [2, 3, 5].

Family History Reflection
Reflection of My Family History
What can I say about my family? Honestly, hardly know jack shit about my family s history. As of
now, I know that both my Biological parents were born in Puerto Rico. In addition, please be mindful
that the man who is supposedly is my biological father; I did not have a chance to meet his ass until I
was 24 years old. Furthermore, I never would have met this fucking man had it not been for me calling
my Titi Carmen (Aunty Carmen) in Puerto Rico. Before I go too deep into my family s history, I think
it would be best for you guys to get a little bit of my background, my first family, the streets of New
York City.
For starters, I was born and raised in the most violent poverty stricken section of New York City, The
South Bronx. I managed to survive two epidemics, (the crack, and the aids epidemic). I was born in
the early seventies. The Bronx to me looked like a fucking warzone, a vast wasteland, where it was
not uncommon to see the rats roam free amongst the debris of the streets of New York City; along
with the huge water bugs (Cucarachas Grandes), it is what we Ricans in the hood use to call them.
These big ass roaches were disgusting; these motherfuckers had wings on them too. So them suckers
could fly and shit. I cringe as I writing this shit thinking about them nasty ass disgusting roaches. The
shit I had to deal with growing up in this bitch! I still remember, I swear to you guys going to the

Romantic Comedy Genre Analysis
Genre in film began as a sort of commercial tool which showed audiences recognizable film content in
order to attract customers (Campbell and Swenson). As the film industry grew, this content began to
be more specialized, allowing the audience to know exactly what to expect from the film they were
seeing. For example, films within the same genre share the same myths, iconography, and
conventions. This means they have similarities in aspects such as plot, characters, themes, moods,
ways of doing things particular to that genre, and repeated visual and oral elements such as images
and sounds. Often genre films are influenced by the social culture of the time in which they are
produced, and the content in the film tend to propose a solution to the current problems within society.
These resolutions are often portrayed by a main protagonists who is presented with a conflict; the film
then concludes with the character reaching a solution to the problem that is not only logical, but moral
as well. Within the romantic comedy genre specifically, the storyline usually follows a couple rather
than a protagonist. The romantic comedy, or rom com, genre has often been ruled a purely escapist
and conservative genre, accused of unquestioningly presenting unrealistic romantic fantasies for
passive audiences (MacDowell). From its earliest days, romantic comedy films have mostly focused
on finding romance and the idea that love is the key to a fulfilled and delighted life. However, this

The South China Sea Essay
Since the 3rd Century AD, the South China Sea has been home to countless territorial disputes
between China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other East Asian Nations. This region is so contentious
because it is one of the busiest trade routes, and is home to vast natural resources. Because of the long
and dense history of them, these disputes are some of the most difficult events to understand and
interpret in international relations. Because the disputes deal with relative power, and the security
dilemma, looking at the events through a realist lens is the most practical way of analyzing them.
Although there have been small disputes dating back to the 3rd Century, conflict in the South China
Sea really started to heat up in the early 1900 s. In the 19th Century, France had been heavily involved
in the South China Sea because they had colonized French Indochina (present day Vietnam). However
France was more concerned about control of the Gulf of Tonkin than the entire South China Sea. The
early disputes were primarily over the Paracel Islands, a group of islands somewhat in between China
and Vietnam. In 1902 (Serverino, 2010, p.76), China ordered the first official exploration of the
islands preemptively because they were worried the the French might try to claim the islands as part of
Indochina s territory. Then in the 1920 s, both Japan and France claimed to own the Paracel s. It was
around this time that China said the Paracel s were the southernmost part of its territory.

Acquainted With The Night Imagery
The power words within poetry have is astonishing. Poetry has the power to paint gorgeous and
captivating pictures. Often times, even the vaguest lines in poetry portray pictures in people s minds.
This figurative illustration is called imagery. Imagery provides writers the ability to give their poems
and stories a pictorial feel to readers. This is very common in poetry. Poems that depict imagery
include The Eagle, Winter, and Acquainted with the Night. In Alfred, Lord Tennyson s work, The
Eagle, he describes an eagle and its surroundings. The eagle seems to be standing still on a rock while
it observes the area. The writer uses imagery to help the reader understand the world around the eagle.
In these couple of lines, the writer describes that the eagle is alone and surrounded by a blue sky. It is
described that the eagle is glancing over a sea, and the waves of the sea are crashing against the
mountain. In the final line of the poetry, the eagle is said to have fell like a thunderbolt. This could
likely mean the eagle either went to look for prey or fell off the mountain to die. The writer of The
Eagle manages to use imagery in almost every single line of the poem. ... Show more content on

Shakespeare uses the first line to illustrate the theme of the poem. Based off the first line, Shakespeare
is trying to paint the picture that it is freezing cold. Shakespeare goes on to describe the environment

the warm picture he is painting around the bitter coldness of winter. It is stated that a guy is acquiring
logs for a fire, a greasy woman is standing over a pot, and roasted crabs are just finishing being
cooked. It is likely that Shakespeare wants the reader to see that winter can be frigid, but it can also be

When I say performance, I am talking about Callaway producing a club that permitted the average
golfer to play at a higher level than they might otherwise play without a Callaway driver.
In order to achieve this higher level of performance in one s golf game, Callaway had created a club
for their target market that met yet a third need, that being the demand for forgiveness in a club. To
meet this need Callaway created a driver that allowed a less than technically proficient golfer to drive
the ball straight and accurate down the fairway, even though the golfer may have hit the ball left or the
right of center on the driver.
In other words, what the golfer lacks in technical skill can be compensated for to a noticeable degree
by the advanced design of a golf club. This is what is known as forgiveness. The fourth and final need
is that of quality. Given that Callaway customers paid a premium for Callaway clubs, they expect that
Callaway would create nothing short of a high quality club. A high quality club being one made of the
best materials, while delivering on all of the claims made such as improved performance. It was
Callaway s ability to successfully meet these four customer needs that had put them at the top of their
game for many, many years.

Social Information Processing Theory Research Paper
Social Information Processing Theory
Social Information Processing Theory was developed by Joseph Walter s in 1992.It is a subtype of
interpersonal communication theory that explains dynamics of online relationships.
Social Information Processing Theory deals with the nature and structure of online relationships
developed over computed mediated communication (CMC). The theory states that the online
relationships are essentially same as any other form of face to face relationships, only difference being
that online relationship may take longer time to develop.
The Social Information Processing Theory highlights the fact that majority of online relationships
develop in spite of the geographical distance or cultural diversity.
The theory dwells on the fact of the mental image perceived and the mental image portrayed. The
theory states a sender receiver model. The model consists of a sender (where people can select how
they project themselves) and a receiver (people create an ideal image for the person at the other end).
Channel is the medium through which the participants communicate and it is flexible in nature, as on
an online platform people can choose their suitable time. A large amount of communication is also
influenced by the feedback, molding one s portrayed image to align it with the expectations and

India s Post Colonial Populist Democracy
The recent experience of India s post colonial populist democracy with Moditva (the rise of Narendra
Modi as India s prime minister by mobilizing varied sections of the Indian population: corporates,
media, middle classes, Hindutva activists, a section of Other Backward Classes and Dalits along with
the poor) has fundamentally challenged the liberal conception of democracy. It is interesting to note
that a person widely regarded as anti minorities while ignoring the normative principle of rule of law
when protecting the minorities from majoritarian violence, gets elected by popular mandate. In this
respect, Moditva ( Modified version of Hindutva) might pose possible threats to India s democratic
processes in future.
Moditva is not just a specific political agenda with a personality cult but it can be called as what
Michael Freeden calls a micro ideology . As nationalism is a micro ideology in Freeden s parlance,
Moditva can be also described as a peculiar micro ideology . Previously, Hindutva had shown its
limitations by not ensuring electoral majority for the BJP in the 1990s. In contrast, Moditva has not
only ensured a clear majority for BJP (282 seats) with 10 seats more than the majority mark and over
60% seats for the National Democratic Alliance (336 seats) but has also got a large proportion of votes

Politics has always been a dirty game. Now justice is, too. Although The Appeal by John Grisham is a
fictional book, the author himself claims that there is a certain truth behind the storyline, as he
explains in the author s note. I must say that there is a lot of truth in this story. This quote especially
shocks one when reconsidering the story and the criminal energy involved. The book impresses the
reader with a story based on corruption and money.

This is then the point when a mysterious organization comes into the story changing Carl s chances by
buying a seat in the court deciding on the case, by recruiting and financing a unsuspecting candidate.
One may argue that this book was too long and partly too descriptive in both the storyline and the
characters, which made it hard to follow the storyline throughout the book.
Grisham s intend is clearly to sensitize and focus his readers on corruption in the sections companies,
politics and justice. As long as private money is allowed in judicial elections we will see competing
interests fight for seats on the bench. Grisham highlights this point so often throughout the book that
one clearly notices his concern of corruption in the judicial system because of money. The book
changes its pace very rapidly from chapter to chapter therefor the narrative style reminds one of an
appeal in a court with constantly changing perceptions and argumentations. John Grisham wrote the
book in a way that the reader constantly switches between the parallel stories of the two lawyers and
Carl Trudeau and his company.
The way in which john Grisham writes, lures the reader into a feeling that the actual story is true and
happening while one is reading. The book brings both the interesting parts of a trial into one s
understanding as well as the boring paperwork making the book different as its pace and tension

Reaction Paper On Spinoza
The question of emotions and how they relate to rational thought is certainly not new. There are
several authors who have already occupied themselves with the interplay of emotions and rationality
in the decision making process (Lowenstein Lerner, 2003; Damasio, 1988 1994 just to name a few). In
order to address this question, I decided to turn to one of the greatest thinkers of Western thought:
Spinoza. Re reading the 4th part of his magnum opos Ethics, which carries the title Of Human
Bondage or the strength of emotions , I could not but think of some central aspects of Kahneman
Tversky s work on heuristics, bias, framing effects and prospect theory. Given the chronological gap
between the works of Kahneman Tversky and Spinoza s Ethics I was impressed by the actuality
inherent to Spinoza s thought. In this paper, I m going to argue that Spinoza s 4th part of Ethics
anticipates some of the key findings of Kahneman Tversky and offers an interesting perspective on
how to develop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Ethics, which overall consists of five main parts and is inspired by the strict science of geometrics,
he develops a system of thought which addresses the relationship of god and nature, body and mind
and the conditions and possibilities of a good human life. Thereby, he opposes Descartes mind body
dualism and develops his own line of thought contrasting Descartes dualism with his own concept of
parallelism of body and mind. While rational thought as the attribute of human mind has been
considered for a long time as being superior to emotions, Spinoza argued that both the mind and the
body were parallel attributes (call them manifestations) of the very same substance (Damasio, 1988:
12). As much as his take on the role of emotions is determined by his other main concepts of
parallelism and conatus, the 4th part of his Ethics is considered to be key to be able to understand the
other parts of Ethics (Liessmann, 2003:

takes place on Sundays in Italian households. If you know and true Italian families they will tell you

Analysis Of Jan Johnson s The Soul Wound
Finding Redemption
Music has always been regarded as an art of high importance. The word itself originates from the
Greek word mousike meaning of the muses , the group of nine Greek Goddesses who regulate the arts

as she later states, is generally turned inward and expressed through depression, anxiety, substance
abuse, and suicide, and manifested externally within families and communities through domestic and
other forms of violence (Johnson.226 227). In Wabanaki Blues by Melissa Tantaquidgeon Zobel we
see this rage internalized and portrayed in the depression of both Mona and her mother and depicted in
their family dynamic through the neglect of Mona s mother towards Mona. Mona, as well as other
characters in the book, utilize music as a form of therapy to heal the soul. The characters in Wabanaki
Blues utilize music to heal in ways that parallels Bob Marley s Redemption Song and the Rastafarian
religion.
Wabanaki blues is a book that concentrates on a recent graduate of high school named Mona LaPierre
and her path in finding herself. She is a Native American of the

Symbolism Of The Spider In The Chosen Chapter 51 In Chaim Potok s novel The Chosen, specifically chapter 9, Potok was able to symbolically delineate Reuven and Danny s lives with a reference to a spider entrapping a fly. To start off, Potok introduced the spider in the allegory as Reb Saunders. When Reuven noticed what was going on near him, he recalled seeing the spider and saying, A spider had spun a web across the corner of the upper rail, and there was a housefly trapped in it now... the spider, a small, gray, furry looking spider, with long, wispy legs and black eyes, move across the web toward the fly (Potok 173 174). As Reuven was observing the fly he noted, The fly s tiny black legs flayed the air fiercely, then its wings were free again, buzzing noisily, but it s body remained intact (Potok 174). This can be seen by how it integrates spiritual practice with God s word and with the goal of guiding the reader toward transformation in the image of Christ. Mulholland doesn t simply cover the traditionally recognized disciplines, but instead exposes the reader to many aspects of formation rarely discussed in detail like how our formation involves and impacts others and how personality structures affect formation. He does talk about the classic four stage pilgrimage of awakening, purgation, illumination, and union but keeps from making them the main focus. This process reveals our cross, or area where we must die and be raised into the newness of Christ s image. To do so requires the step of consecration where we must recognize our cross point and accept the transforming work of Christ. These two steps begin the process of being transformed into Christ s image, which is the essence of our forming journey and a vital part of the definition of spiritual formation. Mulholland then gives extended attention to how our spiritual formation affects those around us. We are conformed to Christ s image for the sole purpose of being in a relationship with both God and with others. The example given in support, is Christ and in his sacrifice, which was for all; he died totally and completely for all and such is our call in the transforming process of spiritual formation. This concept I thought was the easiest part of the book because it was the most obvious until I examined my heart. • 5. Cassius Dio s Roles Of The Empire And Augustus Cassius Dio insists the empire and Augustus owe an extraordinary amount to Gaius Maecenas, Marcus Agrippa, and to a lesser extent, Livia. While the empire had problems with stability from time to time, the three of them had their roles in cultivating prosperity. The role of lifelong friend and confidante is attributed to Agrippa, as his loyalty ceased to cultivate throughout the years. The trifecta aided Augustus in ruling and improving the empire, while sporadically corralling the Octavian mindset inside of Augustus. Augustus single handedly appointed Agrippa to settle disputes that arose on the frontier, and in Rome. He was the ultimate plug n play general of the empire, and proved his worth early on until his death in 12 B.C through military ventures and building projects. Gaius Maecenas had a profound impact on Augustus decision to retain the power that he acquired after defeating Marc Antony and Cleopatra, which shaped the government into what eventually existed in Dio s time. He also handled important business in Rome while the emperor was absent, acting as a sit in caesar, if you will. Livia attempted to promote the women of Rome, while also helping Augustus soothe relationships with the latter s enemies. However, mischievous presumptions loom from Dio around Livia regarding certain disastrous events. Nonetheless, without Livia, Maecenas, and especially Agrippa, Octavian might not have ever had the chance to rule Rome. Cassius Dio portrays Marcus Vispanius Agrippa ... Introduction It is generally considered that codified constitutions are an essential element of democracy in that by clearly setting out the functions of each branch of government and their relations with each other and their citizens, this prevents an over powerful executive developing and ensures rights of citizens are protected. However, I believe that codified constitutions are not an essential element of democracy as there are examples of robust democracies which have uncodified constitutions and at times codified constitutions are more of a hindrance than a help to the democratic process. As the British Empire faded, into the vacuum a new empire arose and armed with a nuclear deterrent, the U.S began to exert its global influence. The old OSHA policy was that, there were 1,300 inspectors and over 5 million workplaces to be looked at. The employers would expect an inspection about every 80 years (Schlosser 179). Now, for an inspection to even be done, the factories injury rate must be higher than the national average. Quintilian has a few ideas about what constitutes an orator and what bars a person from that title. Quintilian might have a hard time labelling Iago based on his outlines for an orator in his Institutes of Oratory . Shakespeare clearly wrote Iago with the intention of embodying vice, anger, and revenge in Othello . However, Iago s eloquence and rhetorical prowess may be at odds with Quintilian s manual. This ruse baits Othello into thinking that he needs the knowledge that Iago has, and that it is more important and valid than it really is while setting Othello into a state of mind to truly consider and believe the implications that Iago is making. Based on the EDS mapping and published literature data [18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti, NiTi, Ti2Ni and β Ti. Further investigation is needed to confirm different phase formation in these layers. EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents Ti from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the bond strength of the joint [2, 3, 5]. ... • 22. Family History Reflection Reflection of My Family History What can I say about my family? Honestly, hardly know jack shit about my family s history. As of now, I know that both my Biological parents were born in Puerto Rico. In addition, please be mindful that the man who is supposedly is my biological father; I did not have a chance to meet his ass until I was 24 years old. Furthermore, I never would have met this fucking man had it not been for me calling my Titi Carmen (Aunty Carmen) in Puerto Rico. Before I go too deep into my family s history, I think it would be best for you guys to get a little bit of my background, my first family, the streets of New York City. For starters, I was born and raised in the most violent poverty stricken section of New York City, The South Bronx. I managed to survive two epidemics, (the crack, and the aids epidemic). I was born in the early seventies. The Bronx to me looked like a fucking warzone, a vast wasteland, where it was not uncommon to see the rats roam free amongst the debris of the streets of New York City; along with the huge water bugs (Cucarachas Grandes), it is what we Ricans in the hood use to call them. These big ass roaches were disgusting; these motherfuckers had wings on them too. So them suckers could fly and shit. I cringe as I writing this shit thinking about them nasty ass disgusting roaches. • 23. Romantic Comedy Genre Analysis Genre in film began as a sort of commercial tool which showed audiences recognizable film content in order to attract customers (Campbell and Swenson). As the film industry grew, this content began to be more specialized, allowing the audience to know exactly what to expect from the film they were seeing. For example, films within the same genre share the same myths, iconography, and conventions. This means they have similarities in aspects such as plot, characters, themes, moods, ways of doing things particular to that genre, and repeated visual and oral elements such as images and sounds. Often genre films are influenced by the social culture of the time in which they are produced, and the content in the film tend to propose a solution to the current problems within society. These resolutions are often portrayed by a main protagonists who is presented with a conflict; the film then concludes with the character reaching a solution to the problem that is not only logical, but moral as well. Within the romantic comedy genre specifically, the storyline usually follows a couple rather than a protagonist. The romantic comedy, or rom com, genre has often been ruled a purely escapist and conservative genre, accused of unquestioningly presenting unrealistic romantic fantasies for passive audiences (MacDowell). From its earliest days, romantic comedy films have mostly focused on finding romance and the idea that love is the key to a fulfilled and delighted life. However, this ... • 24. The South China Sea Essay Since the 3rd Century AD, the South China Sea has been home to countless territorial disputes between China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other East Asian Nations. This region is so contentious because it is one of the busiest trade routes, and is home to vast natural resources. Because of the long and dense history of them, these disputes are some of the most difficult events to understand and interpret in international relations. Because the disputes deal with relative power, and the security dilemma, looking at the events through a realist lens is the most practical way of analyzing them. Although there have been small disputes dating back to the 3rd Century, conflict in the South China Sea really started to heat up in the early 1900 s. In the 19th Century, France had been heavily involved in the South China Sea because they had colonized French Indochina (present day Vietnam). However France was more concerned about control of the Gulf of Tonkin than the entire South China Sea. The early disputes were primarily over the Paracel Islands, a group of islands somewhat in between China and Vietnam. In 1902 (Serverino, 2010, p.76), China ordered the first official exploration of the islands preemptively because they were worried the the French might try to claim the islands as part of Indochina s territory. Then in the 1920 s, both Japan and France claimed to own the Paracel s. It was around this time that China said the Paracel s were the southernmost part of its territory. ... Often times, even the vaguest lines in poetry portray pictures in people s minds. This figurative illustration is called imagery. Imagery provides writers the ability to give their poems and stories a pictorial feel to readers. This is very common in poetry. Poems that depict imagery include The Eagle, Winter, and Acquainted with the Night. In Alfred, Lord Tennyson s work, The Eagle, he describes an eagle and its surroundings. The eagle seems to be standing still on a rock while it observes the area. The writer uses imagery to help the reader understand the world around the eagle. In these couple of lines, the writer describes that the eagle is alone and surrounded by a blue sky. It is described that the eagle is glancing over a sea, and the waves of the sea are crashing against the mountain. In the final line of the poetry, the eagle is said to have fell like a thunderbolt. This could likely mean the eagle either went to look for prey or fell off the mountain to die. The writer of The Eagle manages to use imagery in almost every single line of the poem. ... When I say performance, I am talking about Callaway producing a club that permitted the average golfer to play at a higher level than they might otherwise play without a Callaway driver. In order to achieve this higher level of performance in one s golf game, Callaway had created a club for their target market that met yet a third need, that being the demand for forgiveness in a club. To meet this need Callaway created a driver that allowed a less than technically proficient golfer to drive the ball straight and accurate down the fairway, even though the golfer may have hit the ball left or the right of center on the driver. In other words, what the golfer lacks in technical skill can be compensated for to a noticeable degree by the advanced design of a golf club. This is what is known as forgiveness. The fourth and final need is that of quality. Given that Callaway customers paid a premium for Callaway clubs, they expect that Callaway would create nothing short of a high quality club. Social Information Processing Theory deals with the nature and structure of online relationships developed over computed mediated communication (CMC). The theory states that the online relationships are essentially same as any other form of face to face relationships, only difference being that online relationship may take longer time to develop. The Social Information Processing Theory highlights the fact that majority of online relationships develop in spite of the geographical distance or cultural diversity. The theory dwells on the fact of the mental image perceived and the mental image portrayed. The theory states a sender receiver model. The model consists of a sender (where people can select how they project themselves) and a receiver (people create an ideal image for the person at the other end). There are several authors who have already occupied themselves with the interplay of emotions and rationality in the decision making process (Lowenstein Lerner, 2003; Damasio, 1988 1994 just to name a few). In order to address this question, I decided to turn to one of the greatest thinkers of Western thought: Spinoza. • 40. Analysis Of Jan Johnson s The Soul Wound Finding Redemption Music has always been regarded as an art of high importance. The word itself originates from the Greek word mousike meaning of the muses , the group of nine Greek Goddesses who regulate the arts and sciences. It has often been used as a way to heal mental and emotional pain; music speaks directly to the body through intuitive channels that are accessed at entirely different levels of consciousness from those associated with cognition (The Music Effect.24). In Jan Johnson s Soul Wound, Johnson discusses the historical trauma of Native Americans and the rage that is associated with it. This rage, as she later states, is generally turned inward and expressed through depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicide, and manifested externally within families and communities through domestic and other forms of violence (Johnson.226 227).
