The 1982 Tylenol Scandal Crisis
Tylenol, an over the counter prescription product from Johnson Johnson, was one of the top
brands in the analgesic market. Within the company, it was also a large income earner that
commanded nearly 15% of the company s total profits. That being the case, the 1982 crisis was
not only a big blow to the brand, but also to the company as a whole. The crisis jeopardized the
company s existence; putting at risk a multi million investment which the investors had a lot of
faith in. Irrespective of whether the crisis was due to malicious acts from ill motivated criminals or
not, the company had to act swiftly to counter the legal issues which were ensuing and mitigate
huge impending losses. It was really a trying moment for the top management of Johnson Johnson
and more so to the CEO, James Burke, who faced the toughest test of his managerial career during
this time. Though the crisis was amicably solved, there were some legal issues that were imminent
and some valuable lessons learnt from the episode.
Legal Issues Surrounding 1982 TylenolScandal
In both developed and underdeveloped economies, there is a need to put regulations which ensure
that profits are not abnormally earned at the expense of the innocent clients. It is therefore the
mandate of the territorial authorities to put in place measures that introduce checks and balances in
all trades. The respective companies or business must also follow the same suit lest they find
themselves in the crossroads of law. However,

Topic: The Black Death
Summary:
The Bubonic Plague, otherwise known as the Black Death, was a contagious disease that had been
spread throughout many countries such as China and Egypt during the early 1340s. During the late
months of 1347, the plague had finally arrived into Europe by using 12 trading ships and their
sailors as hosts. A person with the disease would usually have large, black boils that formed near
their underarm or groin area. These boils would usually cause blood and pus to leak out and be an
early symptom for someone who had the plague. The forming of these boils would usually then
lead to vomiting, fever, and unable to keep in food. All these symptoms would... Show more

Boy am I glad I got to research him though. I always knew him as just an important person in
American literature but I didn t really know any history behind it. I ve read some of
Shakespeare s works in school but they never really interested me because I did not understand a
lot of the book. I always thought he was a crazy playwright who wrote in a tongue that not really
anyone but the teachers understood. By researching about this person, I m able to gain new
knowledge that I had not known before while also gaining information about the book we re
going to read. William Shakespeare has just improved the amount of things I know in my life. I
know how life back then was for someone as famous as Shakespeare. I know that he was just
someone who was pretty much normal until he created his famous writing style. I can kind of
relate to Shakespeare because our childhoods were somewhat similar in that we both grew up in
just a middle class family. We weren t really anything special until we went on to discover who
we truly were. Learning about Shakespeare also helps me understand a little more about The
Taming of the Shrew. I know that because this book is a comedy, he wrote this in the early years of
his career. By doing this research on Shakespeare, I was not only able to gain extra knowledge for
myself but also a bit of background for the book we re going to read.

Getting Successful Universal Ehr Is Not Just Technology...
Getting successful universal EHR is not just technology selection, implementation question it
needs to address many other aspects such as physician s acceptance, policy/laws, incentives,
security, and privacy and training issues before we can concentrate or focus on technology
selection and implementations. The ecosystem should be ready with all these critical elements
addressed only then successful EHR implementation can sustain in US. First and foremost there
is a need to have consistency around the state/federal and HIPPA regulations which defines
security and privacy issues in US. Due to conflicting requirements in these regulations mass
acceptance of any medical system/technology cannot be effectively done. Second biggest issue
for universal EHR adoption is the acceptance of EHR by physician s communities. The benefits of
EHR has been identified and acknowledged by medical communities at large however the rate of
adoption and use after implementation is sluggish. The biggest common contributor for
implementation, design and use of EHR systems is physician. Physicians should be properly
trained and emphasis on continual education should also be placed through continuing education
credits. Unless small physician office (stand alone offices) buy in the adoption of EHR no matter
what technology and processes we have in place, EHR won t be universally accepted and the
entire benefit and value associated with EHR can be realized with universal acceptance of EHR.

My Passion For Reading And Writing Course Analysis
Ever since I was a little first grader, I loved going to the library. I adored walking down an aisle
towering with books of used spines that smelled like old paper and adventure. My excitement for
reading and writing has not decreased. I always put time aside for reading books and writing in my
journal.
I want to take English III AP to further my passion for reading and writing. I want to learn more
about different types of literature. I also hope to become a stronger writer so that I can express
my ideas through writing very thoroughly and convincingly. After taking this course I hope to
have an easier time reading at a deeper, complex level as opposed to a context level. I anticipate

Spinal Cord Injury Research Paper
Spinal cord injury A Spinal cord injury is a harm to one or all parts of the spinal cord. A spinal
cord injury can affect many aspects of a person s life such as making him weak and unable to
perform daily activities. There are two factors that matter when it comes to spinal cord injury: the
part of the spinal cordthat is affected and the seriousness of the injury. Moreover, the seriousness of
a spinal cord disease is distinguished by two terns: complete and incomplete. A spinal cord injuryis
complete, when it s hard or become impossible to move the lowest part of the injured spinal cord.
On the other hand, a spinal cord injury is incomplete, when it still possible to move the lowest part
of your spinal cord even after an injury. Furthermore,

Sonnet 60 Metrical Devices
As opposed to the majority of Shakespeare s sonnets in the series that are addressed to an
unnamed young man, sonnet 60 deals largely with the relentless approach of time and its war
against humanity rather than love. In this sonnet, the breaking of the poetic form expected of a
sonnet is utilized to not only enhance the specific localized metaphors in the poem, but the overall
thematic content as well. By taking the traditional iambic pentameter and presenting moments of
disruption, this poem draws attention to the dramatization of Time s march against humanity, and
also to the ability of the writer of this poem who appears in the final couplet. In this paper, I
intend to look specifically at the utilization of trochaic feet in order to examine the ways in which
the manipulation of metrical devices can create meaning. The first quatrain is already rife with
metrical irregularities and each one serves to both mimic and enhance the content of the lines. The
first two lines of the sonnet, Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore, // So do our
minutes hasten to their end draw an explicit comparison between the crashing waves beating
against the shore and the approach of the end of one s time (1 2). Rather than the traditional
unstressed, stressed pattern of iambic pentameter, Like as... and So do... are trochaic feet, meaning
that the form is inverted to stressed, unstressed syllables. By beginning these lines in the same way,
the meter serves to draw an even further

The Reflection Of The Observation Of Vertical Jumping
Vertical Jumping
Volleyball, basketball, high jump, hurdling, long jump, and pole vaulting all have a certain motor
skill in common and that motor skill is jumping. Jumping is a gross motor skill which coordinates
movements which requires the use of the large muscles in the arms, legs, torso, and feet.
Furthermore, jumping requires strength, balance, coordination, body awareness, and motor
planning. Our lower extremity contains multiple muscles in order for a person to jump. Many of
the muscles in the lower extremity cross more than one joint. The basic muscles that are used
during jumping are the rectus femoris, gastrocnemius, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the
long head of biceps femoris. The semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the long head of the
biceps femoris are muscles that make up the hamstrings. Our task was to observe and report a
certain motor skill and behavior in different stages of learning. Our group observed Toddlers
/Preschool, Grade School, Jr. High, High School, and College students jumping in a non structure
play (like recess), structure (like PE class or sport practice), and a competitive environment.
Toddler/Preschool
Toddlers and Preschoolers love to jump and they ll attempt to do it whenever and wherever as much
as possible. They seem to have a fascination with jumping off the ground and momentarily floating
in the air. Jumping is a required movement in most children s games, sports, and activities. Children

Migrations And Belongs, By Dirk Hoerder
The book, Migrations and Belongs, written by Dirk Hoerder, dealt with the experiences people
faced as they migrated in voluntary and involuntary migrations. Chapter four, Migrations during
War and Depression focused mainly on forced migrations. This chapter dealt with the fact that
after World War I, people were forced out of their homes. There was a new concept that was
emerging and becoming increasing popular, the concept of nationalization. People wanted their
country to consist only of the people of that origin. They wanted the un mixing of people which led
to widespread involuntary mass migration. There were such places that were open to new
immigrants such as the Soviet Union, but places like Germany and France for example wanted...

Hitler and the Nazis were able to round up thousands of Jews and ship them off without them
fighting back. I assume it was a similar tactic. It seems similar to today when government officials
try to crack down on illegal immigration by rounding up the undocumented immigrants and
deporting them. I do not even know if they try to send them back to the country they came from or
just send them to Mexico. If the person is not even from Mexico the whole situation would be even
more disconcerting.
Chapter five, The Aftermath of War and Decolonization was basically a conclusion to the entire
book and an explanation of what happened in terms of migration after World War II. Hoerder
stated that after World War II ended, two major migrations took place. First, the migrations of
refugees, prisoners of war, forced laborers, and soldiers. The second migration involved laborers
to rebuild the destroyed countries of Europe. Those who were forced to move or flee during the
war wanted to go back home, the problem was, many of their homes were destroyed. People
needed to rebuild their communities so their life could resume. Families moved together but
heartbreakingly many of those families were female led because fathers and husbands were killed
in the war.
This chapter was bitter sweet. It was good that the country was rebuilding after the disaster left by
World War II and that families could return; the heartbreaking part was that the families were
returning missing

How Did Leroy Contribute To The Deaf World
His parents were immigrants from Italy, they came to the United States looking for a better life.
When he was young he was diagnosed with spinal meningitis. His body was strong enough to
get rid of the disease but it left him paralyzed and deaf. His older brothers helped him gain some
muscle back in his legs by dragging him up and down an alley until he was able to walk on his
own after that they took him to the beach to swim helping his muscles grow and within a year he
could walk. When Leroy was eight he went to a normal school but at the age of ten they pulled

Essay on Faith and Reason
Pope John Paul II once said, Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises
to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth in
a word, to know himself so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to
the fullness of truth about themselves. (Fallible Blogma) Based on this significant and powerful
quote, one can infer that faith and reason are directly associated and related. It can also be implied
that the combination of faith and reason allows one to seek information and knowledge about truth
and God; based on various class discussions and past academic teachings, it is understood that both
faith and reason are the instruments that diverse parties... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas Aquinas are considered to be scholastics. Because of this vast academic difference, it can
be easy to assume that the interpretation of faith and reason among mystics and scholastics would
obviously be different. However, since Ibn Rushd, Moses Maimonides and St. Thomas Aquinas are
all scholastics their views will essentially be somewhat parallel and connected. Before being able to
truly understand what each philosopher s stance ultimately is, this writer feels that it is important to
distinguish the difference between each school of thought; the schools of thought in particular
would be mysticism and scholasticism. According to the class discussion, materials and
presentation, the term mysticism refers to a very personal and individual religious experience. In
this school of thought, private faith and philosophy is accompanied with an emotional experience
that surpasses reason. Mystics have a personal preference of a direct relationship and experience
with God, or the divine. Mystics, like the ones studied in class, use certain visions, dreams and
revelations to gain definite knowledge from God; further, mystics typically revolve their studies
around God s infinite love.
Conversely, the other school of thought is scholasticism; based on the class materials, it is
understood that scholasticism refers to various methods and diverse ways of teaching in academic
institutions. Differently from mysticism, this school of thought combines faith and reason.

Minorities In Special Education
When a minority group s numbers in special education are statistically higher than they should be,
they are considered disproportionate. It can also be an over representation or under representation
of minority students identified with a learning disability or other type of disability under the IDEA
(2004). Disproportionality is defined as the representation in special educationinvolves
comparisons made between groups of students by race or ethnicity who are identified as eligible
for special educationservices. According to IDEA (2004), Disproportionality maintains to exist in
some of the categories listed, especially in the areas of the specific Learning Disability (SLD),
Emotional Disturbance (ED), and Intellectual Disability (ID).
Among the contribution to the misidentification of minority students for special education, students
are classified with disabilities. Students with disabilities often have poor classroom instruction
previous to the transfer to special education, are exposed to inconsistent or subjective placement
policies and procedures, and are put into special education based on income and social class due to
the lack of schooling opportunities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Proximal tubular secretion:
The drug that do not enter the glomerular filtrate leaves the glomeruli though efferent arterioles.
The arterioles divide to form a capillary plexus surrounding the nephric lumen in the proximal
tubule. The occurrence of secretions mainly occurs in the proximal tubule. This happens by active
transport, one for anions and one for cations. Active transport requires energy. The two systems
have low specificity and can transport many compounds. [2]
Distal tubular reabsorption:
The concentration of the drug will exceed that of the perivascular space due to the increase in
concentration as the drug moves toward the distal convoluted tubule. The drug may diffuse back
into the circulation if it is uncharged. In attempt to minimize the diffusing back into circulation, the
pH of the urine may be manipulated to increase the ionised from of the drug. [2]
Below is a diagram to show renal elimination.
[4]
People with kidney problems/disease must have the dosage of drugs administered adjusted as they
have a lower glomerular filtration rate than those without kidney problems/disease. People with
renal dysfunction and those on dialysis are often given opioids for pain relief. Adjusting the dosage
for a therapeutic effect without overdosing is difficult for patient with renal dysfunction and those

James Parkinson And Geisenheimer s Essay
Did you know that 60,000 people are diagnosed with Parkinson s and 700,000 people suffer from

they were discovered. These illnesses are just as terrifying to the families as it is to the patient.
Because of the scare in the diseases, these families wanted answers. The patients were sent to James

The Willpower Instinct By Kelly Mcgonigal
In our daily lives we encounter temptations and regardless of resisting or falling for them is due to
the amount of willpower you posses. In the book The willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonigal,
demonstrates how stress can affect our daily lives by causing us to act irrationally by listening to
our temptations however through, her teaching of self control, motivation, and the beneficial aspect
of controlling your willpower can lead to a successful and healthy human being. Facing these
temptations can be difficult when dealt with, but through the willpower experiments the cause and
effects of temptations can be learned from. One willpower challenge I currently have is my poor
habit of spending money due to the temptationsthat occurs when I m mostly with my social peers,
but through gaining self control, a better sense of self awareness, and motivation progresses me
through this challenge.
McGonigal demonstrated how we are heavily influenced by our social peers and how our
temptations can be effected by each other. She stated Self control is influenced by social proof,
making both willpower and temptation contagious (McGonigal 208). Being surrounded by my
social peers who constantly spend on food and fun activities, it causes me to be more susceptible
to these temptations. Sharing the same interest as my friends make it difficult for me as my peer s

Persuasive Essay On Owning A House
In this day and age, we are advancing and changing the traditional routines past generation set for
us. Today millennials are trying different turns in the workforce, not starting at the bottom to the
top. Because of this empowerment, some get the dream job they work so hard for all the while
being in school. With this some say they feel entitled; some say they know their worth. Also, the
internet has created a new way for a side hustle, selling things on the internet, making money off
YouTube videos, providing driving services, and even creating apps. So why wouldn t
millennials want to own a house, knowing they have income coming in? Could it be they saw
their parents face the recession? Could it be they haven t found their purpose in life? Or could the
burden of college debt stop them from purchasing? Maybe they re waiting until they meet that
special someone or possibly owning a home is overrated? All these factors may be the reasons there
is a decline in real estateownership. Therefore, if millennials want to invest in a home, they need
to look into the reason why they re buying the house. See the pros and cons of being a first time
buyer and be a pessimist, not an optimist. Buying a home is a stressful shopping experience, but
could be the best experience if they have the right people in their corner and they re ready for this

Diabetes
Scientists have found a way to reverse type 1 diabetes. They pre treated blood stem cells to
produce excess PD L1, a protein that plays a major role in new immunotherapy treatments for
cancer.
While drugs that inhibit cancer such as Tecentriq by Genentech are effective in fighting some
cancers, in diabetes, the PD L1 needed to be boosted. The protein, called an immune checkpoint
because it prevents T cells from recognizing and attacking cancer, is instrumental in crippling
autoreactive T cells that destroy cells which produce insulin, Fierce Biotech reported.

Novel therapeutic tool
The resolution of PD L1 deficiency could provide a novel therapeutic tool for type 1 diabetes,
Moufida Ben Nasr, the lead author of the research, said. To optimize the chemical cocktail used to
stimulate the PD L1, researchers from Boston Children s are working with Fate Therapeutics, a
biotech company based in San Diego, California. More research to determine the treatment s
safety, the ideal dosing schedule, and duration of the positive effects of boosting PD L1 are being
planned. The team met with the US Food and Drug Administration to discuss the plan for a clinical
trial for people suffering from type 1 diabetes.
Many experimental approaches to treat diabetes focus on counteracting the non stop attack on islet
cells that produce insulin which causes the chronic ailment. In North Carolina, researchers created
in October artificial beta cells that could detect the need for insulin which automatically secretes it.
The technology, they believe, could be delivered using a painless skin patch.

The Volcanic Activities On Earth
Introduction A volcano is said to be a rapture which occurs in the crust of the earth and it allows
lava, dangerous gasses as well as volcanic ash to escape to the surface of the earth from the
magma which is placed in areas below the earth. The volcanic activities on earth have a deep
history which shows that they have been active for a long time. The volcanoes on earth usually
occur when the crust on the surface of the earth is broken into tectonic plates. The tectonic plates
usually float on the hotter and the softest layer in its own mantle. This shows that the volcanic
activities on earth usually occur where the tectonic plates on earth are either converging or

Indonesia is said to have the largest number of volcanoes on earth which means that the tectonic
plates in this area are converging or diverging. Most of the volcanic activities on the surface of
the earth are said to be more than 10,000 years old. In fact, some of the volcanic activities on
earth are 100,000 years old. This shows that the history of the formation of volcanoes has been
dated back in the ancient times. There are historical myths which explain how the volcanoes
came to be in Hawaii. There was a goddess of volcanoes in Hawaii who was called Pele who had
various periods of anger and she was believed to cause mass eruptions (McNutt, 2015). The
volcanic activities and the earthquakes in Hawaii are believed to have been formed using Peles
magic stick. All over the world, each community living in the volcanic areas usually had a myth or
folktales which explained the origin of the volcanoes and it was associated with gods. Scientifically,
the formation of volcanoes can be explained from the melting of the mantle. The mantle is found
between the molten iron core and the crust at the surface of the earth. After the mantle melts, it
moves to the surface of the earth through the crust and it releases some of the most dangerous
gasses on the surface of the earth. The melting of the mantle is caused by the high temperatures
which are found in that zone and also the high pressure found in this area. This causes the rock to

Legalizing Marijuana. Marijuana, Also Called Herb, Weed,
Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana, also called herb, weed, herb, pot, grass, and a vast number of
other slang terms, is a greenish gray combination of the dried, shredded leaves and flowers of
Cannabis sativa, the hemp plant. Some individuals smoke marijuana in hand rolled cigarettes
called joints; many use pipes, water pipes, or marijuana cigars called blunts (often made by
cutting open cigars and replacing some or all the tobacco with marijuana). Marijuana is frequently
mixed into foods (edibles) such as brownies, cookies, or candies, particularly when it is sold or
consumed for medicinal purposes. Stronger varieties of marijuana include Sinsemilla (from
specially tended female plants) and concentrated resins containing high doses... Show more content

According to government surveys, 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past
year, and more than 14 million do so on a regular basis, despite harsh laws against its use.
Marijuana is far less hazardous than tobacco or alcohol. Nearly 50,000 people die each year
from alcohol poisoning. Additionally, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to
smoking tobacco. By comparison, marijuana is non hazardous and cannot cause death by
overdose. The United States public policies should reflect this reality, not deny it. (NORML)
The legalization of marijuana is a liberty that people deserve to choose for themselves.
Legalization would also reduce crime, and give sick patients a new effective medicine. The most
important reason for marijuana to be legalized is because people deserve to be free, and have the
choice to smoke marijuana. As the members of what we call a free nation should have the right to
make decisions for ourselves. Marijuana is less hazardous than other drugs that are already legal,
like alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana also takes part of some religions. Just as Christians drink wine
on certain occasions, religions such as some Buddhists, Hindus, and Rastafarians use marijuana in
their spiritual and religious ceremonies. These individuals have the right to exercise their religion,
and The First Amendment in our Constitution protects these rights. Smoking marijuana does not
cause harm to others; therefore,

Abstract:
Large population of India depends on agriculture field .Agriculture sector is badly affected by
environment condition. The solution to this problem is polyhouse farming.
Polyhouse is nothing but the greenhouse covered with simple polyethylene sheet .The function of
a polyhouse is to create the optimal growing conditions for the full lifecycle of the plants. Here our
objective is to design automated polyhouse. The aim and objective of this project is to design and
implement an cost effective and time efficient automatic pesticide distribution system. In this we
will develop a mobile based irrigation control system .Here we will use the idea of coffeemaker
which mix up two or more pesticide and distribute among crops in polyhouse using drip system.

Las Vegas You usually would not expect a seventeen year old to say that they love vacationing to

not get enough. The first thing I usually do when I get to Vegas is start people watching. You
would be amazed with how different people are in this world.almost everywhere you look you see
people dressed up in the most random outfits to mostly get attention from other people. The scariest
part about people watching is the ones in the costumes. Considering, I absolutely hate when people

Pre and Post Reconstruction Period Politics, Economic and Social Effects
This research paper is intended to explain in general terms some of the political, economics and
social effects America dealt with during the Pre and Post Reconstruction Period.
During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of
former slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts
of the nation and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some
resolutions. Some issues raised were: a) How would the former states of the Confederacy be

These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few
reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In
addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window
dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through
moderation on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were
intended to redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to
the old plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence
on cotton as a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew
Johnson and early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into
a land of industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts
of money into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation
methods. Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and
swelled the ranks of the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension
of cotton plantations into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence
farmers. Furthermore, new technology and the increasing efficiency

Relation Between Gender And Infants
Researchers have hypothesized that the hormone that makes an infant a male also organizes the
brain in a masculine way. Studies have shown when testosterone is blocked in the developing fetus
then the male child engages in less rough and tumble play. If the brain plays a part in masculinizing
a male infant then one can obviously see that genderassignment before the child decides their
gender would not be the best treatment option. Studies have shown that boys as young as thirteen
months like to play with so called boy toys such as trucks and girls prefer dolls. Social interaction
also forms the infant s gender, parents interact different with boys versus girls. For example parents
tend to be more vocal with girls. Infants born with congenital

The Lion s Body
Introduction: The Panthera Leo, also known as the lion, is a member of the cat family, and
shares many common traits of this family. The lion s body is very muscular, with less bone mass
than other animals of comparable size. This allows the lion to make powerful blows with its
forepaws heavy enough to break a zebra s back. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements
quiet enough to sneak up on prey. Lions walk on their toes which means they are digitigrade
walkers. The claws on the paw grow as a series of layers. As a layer wears, the layers shed, and a
new sharp pointed claw is then exposed. The lions body is covered with a brown coat, but
sometimes, a white variant that shows up. A mature male lion has a mane that covers... Show more

When a lion kills/threatens a farmer or a rancher s livelihood, that individual is likely to poach or

people living in lion territories, educating them about the lion s ecological importance, and
developing cheap ways to protect their subsistence.
Evidence of Evolution:
The lion s most common and recent ancestor lived around 124,000 years ago. Learning about the
lion s history has been difficult since animals living in tropical areas tend to leave fewer fossilized
remains behind. Around the time of the earliest lion s ancestor (124,000 years ago), tropical
rainforests expanded across equatorial Africa, and the Sahara region started turning into the
savannah. Lions living in the south and east of the continent became separated from, and had began
to diverge from, those who were living in the west and north. Then 73,000 years later, the continent
dried and the Sahara expanded, isolating off the lions in the west from those in the north.
At the same time, lions on the west expanded their range into Central Africa, which became more
inhabitable. At the end of the Pleistocene period, lions left North Africa, eventually reaching as far
as India. This meant that southern and

INTRODUCTION
A system is created to solve problems, for example, work out someone s wages. The systems
approach can be said to be an organised way of dealing and solving the problem.
A life cycle in system analysis is a term used to describe a process for planning, creating, testing,
and deploying an information system. The systems development life cycle concept applies to a
range of hardware and software configurations, as a system can be composed of hardware only,
software only, or a combination of both.
General system development life cycles that exist include: o Waterfall stages, requirements, design,
implementation, verification, maintenance. o Agile stages, define requirements, integrate test(X3),
feedback, approved? yes=release to market, no= record incorporate changes, adjust track, next
iteration (back to beginning). o Spiral plan, test, analyses, development of testing (back to the
beginning until everything is complete and there are not problems found in testing.)

Compare And Contrast Rainforests And Mangroves
Rainforests and Mangroves hold very vital roles in our ecosystems, in which this essay is
comparing the two. Mangroves cultural significance towards Brisbane are strongly linked to the
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of Australia. They have provided food, shelter,
medicine and many other resources to the land owners for over 40,000 years. They are also
important to Brisbane s natural environmentbecause they are immensely productive ecosystems in
which they provide various resources and services, for instance they protect shorelines from
erosion. Brisbane rainforests hold significant cultural value, alike to that of the mangroves, to the
Aborigines, in which they ve supply medicine and vast amounts of foods. Rainforests are a vital
stabilizer for the Earth s climate, along with maintaining the water cycles.
Biotic factors are found in every ecosystem, interacting together to survive. Herons (or the common
egret) inhabit mangrove swamps, and are found in most parts of the world. They can usually be
found by mangrove tree roots, feeding mainly on frogs, fish, small mammals and occasionally
small insects and reptiles. In contrast, the Umbrella Cockatoo s who are rainforest dwellers, they

Forced Confession In The Crucible
The Use of Forced Confession in The Crucible
According to Revolvy, A forced confession is a confession obtained by a suspect or a prisoner
under means of torture ( including enhanced interrogation techniques) or other forms of duress.
There are different aspects of forced torture. Physical and psychological torture are both used to
force a confession. Physical force in the USA is rare during a confession because it has been
outlawed (Redich). Many people will confess the truth if they are innocent because they have been
coerced or they believe that it will be more beneficial to confess than to maintain their innocence
(Innocence Project). In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, there are many instances of forced
confession. Throughout The Crucible, multiple people are accused of being a witch. When the
public and church thought someone was a witch, the person had two options. They could confess
and say that they were a witch or they could be hung and die. This brings up the question, how
does force confession affect the people in The Crucible?
Physical force can be effective in getting people to confess, but there is no evidence suggesting that
the information gained from physical force is considered reliable and effective (Redich). This is
because the victims understand that the physical force will not stop unless they confess
information. Through the pain, some of the information may be accurate, but it will almost always
be tied with inaccurate and misleading

Argument Wellness
According to Maritain, the individual is a complex entity that holds the desires and wants of the
human being, and is willed to the universe for its own sake and stability. The person requires
community to manifest dignity, and seeks acknowledgement for who we are, and what we are,
as humans, and it allows for preferences of each being as it evolves. Because people have
inherent good in their essence, and, according to the encyclicals, are created in God s image, the
good is capable of transcending anything a political system has created. The good of the human
being is above the combined good of the physical universe because God became us, and so our
goodness is above anything and everything else. This inherent goodness that is within the being

Pathos, Pathos And Logos In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
Throughout the play Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses a variety of rhetorical strategies to
articulate the points of many characters. More explicitly the use of different rhetorical strategies
can be seen after the death of Caesar. Preceding Caesar s death speeches were given by Mark
Antony and Brutus. In these speeches Brutus tried to justify Ceaser death with vague answers,
while Mark Antony came to the support of Caesar and questioned why he really had to die.
Brutus and Mark Antony s use of logos, pathos and ethos, allowed them both to give effective
speeches. Although Brutus gave a strong speech, Mark Antony exceptional use of pathos and
ethos provided him a slight edge over Brutus. Logos can be seen used by Brutus and Mark
Antony, However Brutus was able to use logos more efficiently to appeal to the citizens. In
particular Brutus used this rhetorical strategy to persuade the people to his side. Brutus s
exploit of logos can be examined as he says Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves,
than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men? (45). From these lines Brutus uses logos as he
gives all the citizens a logical reason for why he killed Caesar. Brutus uses logos to explain to
everyone that if Caesar was alive everybody would be living as slaves rather than freemen. In
contrast to Brutus, Mark Antony uses logos to support Caesar. Mark Antony utilizes logos to
disprove the claim made by Brutus about Caesar being ambitious. Mark Antony use of logos

Differences Between Bible Myths And Greek Myths
Last week, I have read the GREEK MYTHS and I found there are some similarities and differences
between Bible and Greek myths, even sometimes are similar with Chinese myths.
After reading the Bible and Greek myths, you will find the biggest difference is that the number of
gods is totally different. In the Bible, they only believe in one God faithfully; however, people
believe in twelve big Gods and other small Gods in the GREEK MYTHS, such as Zeus, Athene,
Poseidon, Apollo, Cupid and so on. The reason why they have such a difference is that God in the
Bible can do everything and he controlled all the rights by himself, but in Greek all the Gods had
different abilities and do their best in their fields. Another reason is that God s image can

Similarities Between The Sacho Panza Syndrome And The...
The Sancho Panza syndrome (then) and the American dream (then and now)
In the 15th century, the combination of the Sancho Panza Syndrome and the American dream
fueled exploration at that time and created an incredibly enticing allure of the New World.
Exploration and colonization were performed to attain a higher social status, more wealth, and
fame. The result of this exploration led to the discovery of new lands and laid the foundation for
new countries, but it came with a cost. The perils of the new land discovered were often
incredibly treacherous and sometimes times even life threatening, however, the American dream
never faded away. The American dream today holds very similar to the American dream in the
15th and 16th centuries despite the gap of 500 years. These dreams are very alike, because they
both are comprised of individuals trying to achieve success in lands of opportunity, and although
some were prosperous, others were not so fortunate. The American dream today is a household
concept, which states that if a person works hard enough, he or she can make a better life for
themselves. This concept inspires countless people every day to overcome adversity in attempt to
better their life. On a personal level, I can relate to this dream vicariously through my father. My
grandfather immigrated to the United States in 1923 from Bisaccia, Italy. The Procaccino family
stood firmly on the belief that following the American dream was key to success, but despite how
hard my great grandfather worked, the Great Depression drained the money out of the Procaccino
household. John (my grandfather) yearned to become a doctor, but due to his family s financial
situation, John enlisted in the US Army during World War II. After completing his duties, he earned
an engineering degree and became a New York Cityengineer. John bore two sons named Angelo
and John II. Angelo was a naturally gifted child with tremendous brainpower, but John was more
of a rapscallion. With the guidance of Angelo, John realized that the best way to create something
with your life was to follow the American dream and work harder than anyone else. John II became

Abstract
This research paper is based on the development and implementation of completely integrated

the performance management system. It has helped in improving the productivity of employees in
most of the organizations. It is to be understood that apart from advantages, the system also carries
some disadvantages. It is time consuming and there are chances of biases entering into the system.

Ibn Khaldun s 4 Step Model
Ibn Khaldun s 4 Step Model
Asabiyyah means a unification of people through a common system of beliefs, culture, language,
history, and traditions forming a community. Ibn Khaldun a historian/sociologist, describes this
through many of his aspects of writings of the 14th century, describing the bond of cohesion among
humans in a group forming community (Wikipedia: Muuaddimah). Asabiyyah can be from small
societies such as nomadic people in tribes, to much larger societies such as empires and states
containing sedentary people.
The Nomads were people of a tribe who would migrate around many different places in search of
new viable resources, wealth, and technology when their supply of food and land would be
exploited. The nomads were the hunter gatherers of the 7th 13th centuries and also even having
their own livestock in most cases. They herded sheep, cattle, goats, horses, and many other
animals. Since they move from place to place so much they do not partake in agriculture so
much, or even so on a long term basis. The nomads would migrate for reasons such as to raid
settled communities or avoid approaching enemy conflicts. It being their natural way of life,
living off of the land and working for their own food and shelter, they were seen as savages in most
eyes. The Nomadic people were made up of warriors and tribal elders of a low culture society. The

This article from the National Marriage Project was definitely an intriguing read. It is really
astonishing to see all of the statics about marriage, cohabitation, and even divorce. One things that
stood out to me in the article, were the graphs. I have always been someone that likes to see
visuals. The graphs compare the difference, regarding marriage, between least educated,
moderately educated, and highly educated individuals. Throughout all of the data and statistics,
one things is certain: The importance of marriage has declined over the years. Although statistics
may seem skewed at times, the statistics in this article seem to be very true. The studies have
shown that the well educated tend to have more successful marriages and a more stable
relationship than the others. Marriage seems to be heading in the direction of luxury. It seems as
if, through research, that many couples are successful if they have all of the adequate means that
the well educated men and women have. As we look at the statistics, unsuccessful marriages were
typically detected within the least educated. Over the past several years, this has spread to the
moderately educated. Some of these moderately educated men and women feel as if they are not
economically ready and fit to start a family. Several years ago, it was seen that most unsuccessful
marriages were seen in the least educated, but unfortunately, this is spreading into the moderately
educated. It is extremely eye opening to see how

Hawthorne and Washington tie characterization in all three stories by the use of thoughts,

deciphers Barabbas in Matthew 27:17 as Jesus Child of Abba meaning that Barabbas guaranteed
to be the deliverer of the general population. In the trial of Christ in Pilot s court, Pilot allowed
the Jews to pick which detainee they wanted discharged, a custom of the time. The characterizing
occasion that makes Barabbas recollected in history is not his rough crusade yet rather the

Zappos
1. The original business model for Zappos was the drop ship model which is being the middle
man (Brady, 2010). The easiest way to think about a drop ship business model is to think about
your own retail web based or mail order business. In many ways they work the same. An order with
payment comes in, is processed and then shipped to the purchaser. In both your retail environment
and in the drop shipenvironment, the person receiving the package is your customer. The only
difference to the customer is that in the one instance, the product is shipped directly from your
location and in the other instance; the product is shipped from another location. (Steve, 2009). Over
the past several years, drop shippinghas emerged as the go to strategy... Show more content on

We ve aligned the entire organization around one mission: to provide the best customer service
possible . At Zappos it s all about customer service and this was and still is their main strength.
Zappo is very good at applying the 4P s with the 4 C s that Porter talks about in our lecture. They
even have an application for smart phone to make sure that their customer can buy even with their
phones. With this model I believe that they can sustain their popularity and especially as long as
they keep giving to their customer s great experiences and products that they need for the best
price. Last but not least, the company trains and exposes all its recruits to customer service
regardless of their position. They also encourage innovation by motivating its employees to come up
with passionate ideas which they go ahead and which help the sustainability of its customer service
implement (Milligan amp; Smith, 2011).
4. Zappos s new model that is based on loyalty and relationship marketing made the company
make 1 billion $ in revenue in 2009. Zappos s new strategy of offering not just shoes but as well
introducing clothing and apparel to the site is definitely a great move knowing that the apparel
market of is 4 times the size of the footwear market Zappos s believe that in order to make its
customers happy they should first make their employees happy which they are succeeding at
making Zappos among the best 100 company to work for (Adriana,

The World is Blue Sylvia Earle Review and analysis by: Kylee Luckett It is our choices...that show
what we truly are, far more than our abilities. Albus Dumbledore
They say only a few will ever speak loud enough to be heard over the other seven billion voices
on the planet. Today someone is shouting. Screaming off of the pages of The World is Blue is

The world is a vampire sent to drain.
Earle s second major concept of her book is the relentless greed of the human race. Through
pollution, ignorance, and pillaging of all resources, the human race has become that of a vampire
species, feeding off of the seductive lure of power, money, and claim that our planet s oceans bring.
A particular lipstick wearing, wolf hunting politician made a statement that is becoming unanimous
with most of America today Drill baby, drill. For the unknowing, that is Sarah Palin, a woman who
agrees with offshore, and in some cases, onshore drilling. The topic of oil is sensitive. Do you
drill in former wildlife and marine reserves to avoid wars with your supplying companies? Most
of America, even the left minded Barak Obama was nodding to the idea of on and offshore
drilling in the United States backyard. The steadily rising price of fuel and oil are making more
Americans nod yes, than ever before. Earle is shaking her head no. largely because the action
occurs underwater, out of the public view, little attention has focused on what actually happens on
the ocean floor where drilling takes place, or what creatures are displaced by the thousands of
miles of pipeline laced across the bottom... (Earle)Despite my serious vendetta against Sarah Palin,
I myself, had not actually considered the impact of pipelines on the ocean floor, I was always

Comparing Wart s The Once And Future King
How Merlyn s Adventures Shape Wart Arthur Wart Pendragon is the protagonist of the story The
Once and Future King. Throughout this novel, Wart is turned into countless animals and learns
many life lessons from beings of the same, or different species. However, he also gains
knowledge from the people around him as well. These outside influences from people and
animals play a role in shaping Wart into the king he becomes. In the first few chapters, Wart is
introduced as an adopted son and brother to Sir Ector and Kay, respectively. Kay is the proper
son and he points this out to Wart as often as possible. This is mainly because Kay is jealous of
Wart and Merlyn s relationship. This is shown when Kay figures out that Wart turned into a hawk

The magician usually teaches this through adventures. As Merlyn turns Wart into different
animals, the young pupil learns lessons about people, politics, and power itself. In Wart s first
lesson, he turns into a perch and meets Mr. P. Mr. P is a pike, and the largest fish in this moat,
making him the undisputed ruler. However, immediately before greeting this monstrosity, Wart
describes the qualities of Mr. P. He had been ravaged by all the passions of an absolute monarch
by cruelty, sorrow, age, pride, selfish ness, loneliness and thoughts too strong for individual brains
(White 51). Because of this venture, Wart learns about tyranny and the corruption of power. This
is important later when he needs to know how to conduct himself and treat his subjects. Later in
the story, while Wart is recovering from a broken collarbone, he asks Merlyn to transform him into
an ant, so he can interact with the ants from Merlyn s formicarium. When he is brought into this
world, he notices the ants do not stop working, and they know only two things, done and not done.
Wart also learns that the ants do not have names, just numbers that describe which ant they are and
what job they are assigned. Wart s job is to deliver food to other ants, and the only way to do this
is to ingest a small amount into his stomach, and when an ant wants food, he opens his mouth and

Bed Bath And Beyond Case Analysis
There are many elements that affect price in the market place. This includes the demand for the
product, how quickly it is sold, and competitor s prices, price sensitivity, and generic versus more
expensive products. Producers are constantly attempting to improve their technology to make
production more efficient. Higher efficiency helps companies maintain pace with consumer
demand (Zacks Equity Research, 2017). This also allows them to produce the same amount of a
particular product for less, resulting in a larger net profit (Zacks Equity Research, 2017). Due to
technological advancements, workers now are producing 47 percent more than 20 years ago (West,
2016). Considering Bed Bath Beyond sells mostly bed and bathroom products, they have many
competitors. They are in constant competition with other companies such as Target, Walmart and
Amazon, which can force them to raise their prices (Hampton, 2017). However recent research has
found that Bed Bath Beyond sells products at a cheaper pricethan Amazon (Kim, 2013). This is an
advantage for Bed Bath Beyond since their prices (for some products) are lower, customers would
be more inclined to purchase from them. Additionally, customers are continually looking for the
best offers, deals, and ways to conserve their money while shopping. Bed Bath Beyond has created
an incentive for their shoppers to purchase from their store as opposed to any other called the price
match policy (Bed Bath Beyond, 2017a). This

A Career in Social Work
A Career in Social Work
I chose to do research on a career as a social worker because, based on my Holland and MBTI
code, this career best combines the conventional, social, and realistic aspects of my personality. I
also feel that this career choice corresponds with my personal values, as it will allow me to channel
my communication and problem solving skills towards helping disadvantaged individuals and
families.
Entering the social work field requires considerable preparation. In California, as in most states, a
bachelor s degree in social work (BSW), as well as the completion of additional coursework
hours in areas such as child abuse assessment and alcohol/chemical dependency, is the minimum
requirement to become a Licensed Bachelor s Social Worker (LBSW). An LBSW must work
under the supervision of a Licensed Master Social Worker or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker,
licenses which both require a master s degree in social work (MSW). Most California State
University campuses in the southern California area offer accredited degrees in social work. In
particular, the University of Southern California offers a top ranked online MSW program. Full
time social workers must also be prepared to work 40 hours per week, occasionally working
evenings and weekends to meet deadlines, meet with clients, or handle emergencies. In addition to
fulfilling all these preparation requirements, successful social workers must be deeply
compassionate, a good listener, and an effective

Young Goodman Brown: Losing Faith in Humanity from the Art of Deception
Since the beginning of time, there has always been day and night, evil and light. Throughout
history, the basis of good versus evil has emanated. Good and evil has etched its place in every
culture whether taught through passed down stories, depictions written on tablets, stones, or
parchment paper. In the story, Young Goodman Brown
, Hawthorne reveals the traveler as a figure
that highlights one goal. Emphasis is placed on the traveler s methodology as he employ s several
techniques to manipulate and deceive the vulnerabilities of Goodman Brown. Hawthorne carefully
stresses the traveler s demeanor, features, setting and communication methods in detail. What is
Hawthorne trying to say about the intricate interaction between Goodman Brown and the traveler?
The traveler patiently awaits Young Goodman Brown as he always has, because the traveler is
not governed by the same limitations as man. The traveler, being demonic, has a purposeful goal
in mind: to kill, steal, and destroy while praying on Goodman Brown s vulnerabilities to achieve
his hidden agenda. The traveler s skill in persuasion is hard to overcome as he comes across as
normal, trustful and believable. Young Goodman Brown approaches with hesitation in the darkness
as he seems haunted and reluctant making his way through the woods. Purposefully, The Traveler
is cunning and is

Expert organizations such as the Institute of MIS along with peer reviewed journals such as MIS
Quarterly continue to find and report new ways to use MIS to achieve business objectives.
Better Planning and Control:
MIS has to be designed and managed in such way that it aggregates information, monitors the
company s activities and operations and enhances communication and collaboration among
employees (Obrien). This ensures better planning for all activities and better ways to measure
performance, manage resources and facilitate compliance with industry and government
regulations. Control helps in forecasting, preparing accurate budgets and providing the tools and
vital information to employees, top management and business partners.
Core Competencies:
Every market leading enterprise will have at least one core competency that is, a function they
perform better than their competition. By building an exceptional management information system
into the enterprise it is possible to push out ahead of the competition. MIS systems provide the
tools necessary to gain a better understanding of the market as well as a better understanding of the
enterprise itself.
Enhance Supply Chain Management:

Methods For Modifying Behavior And Behavior Modification
Methods for Modifying Behavior in Children
Behavior modification is a treatment technique used to tackle countless problems within children.
When children are born discipline and growth comes from the parents. We teach right from
wrong. Therefore, we are where the root of the behavior starts. Children must be correctly
disciplined by the age of six because if not that child would most likely be a criminal. A child
behavior rises from what they learn and their surroundings, so what we teach our children as well as
what they see is what they take with them throughout life. When parents apply these particular
elements of techniques, they can work with their children to swap improper or disagreeable
behavior. B.F Skinner proposed that behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skinner created what he called an operant conditioning apparatus that later was referred to as the
skinner box. The Skinner box is a compartment that enclosed a key that an animal had access to
when they wanted water, food, or even reinforcement. Skinner was the number one believer that
children react to rewards and gifts. He believed that you had the ability to make a child do whatever
you want when you give them things.
Methods for Modifying Behavior
There are numerous of methods for modifying your children s behavior. Three of the best
methods for modifying behavior in children are rewarding, setting consequences and boundaries.
When children portray good behavior at home or in school you reward them. Whether it is gifts,
privileges, money or just letting them stay up late because they have done something good
inspires the child to continue doing well. They will then want to continue that behavior so he or
she can continue to receive rewards. Gifts or rewards should be given to children for good
behavior it shows them is they maintain good behavior they will receive rewards.
As a parent, you have to reinforce rules with children. You must show children that things given to
them as a privilege can be taken away when they misbehave or do something he or she is not
suppose to. Taking things away from a child is the number one consequence that can occur. If a
child loves a particular game system,

Mattress Size Analysis
When it comes to shopping for mattresses, it s important to be familiar with the different mattress
sizes to ensure that you re making the right choice. Most manufacturers usually produce all sizes
but there are some types that are only available in select stores or areas even.
Your mattress size will also influence the type of sheets and the number of pillows that you re
going to get for your bed. If this is your first time shopping for a mattress and you haven t gotten a
bed frame yet, how big your choice is will also influence the type of bed you re supposed to acquire.
There are four different mattress sizes: twin, double, queen and king. Each one of these types has
its own pros and cons details that you need to learn about if you are to find the most suitable
product for your specific circumstance.

At 60 x 80 , it is six inches wider and eight inches longer than the double mattress. This one offers
more sleeping space for two adults although it may still be quite cramped for people who have a

King
The king sized mattress is literally what it name implies. Based on its dimensions the standard
one being 76 x 80 it is the king of mattress sizes. Another type under this category, the California
King, is longer where the standard is wider. The California King is 72 x 84 . Either of the king
sized mattresses are easily the largest ones available in the market.
The size allows for more sleeping space for two adults and even a child or two. This is perfect
for couples who have to share a bed but are still craving for enough personal space. However, the
large size means limited mobility. It s going to be a bit difficult to maneuver this mattress along
steep stairs or narrow halls. Sheets and beddings for the king mattress are also the most expensive

origins of the fabrics you wear, their impact on the environment, and your own view of social
responsibility as a customer. Even if the customer cannot afford his clothinghe wants them to

The large corporations might learn that his different marketing tactics work and draw in more
customers.
The utility that Small provides for his customers is the fact that this clothing will last for so many
years. This allows the customers to save their money. They will not longer have to go buy new
clothes as often. The high price reflects another good thing about Small s clothes, the fabric will be
environment friendly and will not fade or shrink like the cheaper clothing items. The price creates
the highest quality clothing. He makes it easy for customers to buy from his brand again.
The era of marketing history that best matches the marketing philosophy created by Small is the
relationship era. The relationship era focuses on developing long term valued relationship with
customers. In the text it says, Small views his relationship with his customers as critical to his
success, referring to them as the best and only financial backers a designer should have. That s
proof that the relationship marketing technique works.
Social causes that impact the customer relationships would be that Small is trying to make things
environmental friendly. Its important to people that the environment is protected as much as
possible. It might sound odd that a clothing designer can help the environment but the fabrics used
are important. Some fashion designers will use fur for example and they receive

  • 2. The 1982 Tylenol Scandal Crisis Tylenol, an over the counter prescription product from Johnson Johnson, was one of the top brands in the analgesic market. Within the company, it was also a large income earner that commanded nearly 15% of the company s total profits. That being the case, the 1982 crisis was not only a big blow to the brand, but also to the company as a whole. The crisis jeopardized the company s existence; putting at risk a multi million investment which the investors had a lot of faith in. Irrespective of whether the crisis was due to malicious acts from ill motivated criminals or not, the company had to act swiftly to counter the legal issues which were ensuing and mitigate huge impending losses. It was really a trying moment for the top management of Johnson Johnson and more so to the CEO, James Burke, who faced the toughest test of his managerial career during this time. Though the crisis was amicably solved, there were some legal issues that were imminent and some valuable lessons learnt from the episode. Legal Issues Surrounding 1982 TylenolScandal In both developed and underdeveloped economies, there is a need to put regulations which ensure that profits are not abnormally earned at the expense of the innocent clients. It is therefore the mandate of the territorial authorities to put in place measures that introduce checks and balances in all trades. The respective companies or business must also follow the same suit lest they find themselves in the crossroads of law. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Bubonic Plague Outline Jack Shi Mr. Smith English 2 Honors 16 October 2014 Shrewsearch Topic: The Black Death Summary: The Bubonic Plague, otherwise known as the Black Death, was a contagious disease that had been spread throughout many countries such as China and Egypt during the early 1340s. During the late months of 1347, the plague had finally arrived into Europe by using 12 trading ships and their sailors as hosts. A person with the disease would usually have large, black boils that formed near their underarm or groin area. These boils would usually cause blood and pus to leak out and be an early symptom for someone who had the plague. The forming of these boils would usually then lead to vomiting, fever, and unable to keep in food. All these symptoms would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I ve read some of Shakespeare s works in school but they never really interested me because I did not understand a lot of the book. I always thought he was a crazy playwright who wrote in a tongue that not really anyone but the teachers understood. By researching about this person, I m able to gain new knowledge that I had not known before while also gaining information about the book we re going to read. William Shakespeare has just improved the amount of things I know in my life. I know how life back then was for someone as famous as Shakespeare. I know that he was just someone who was pretty much normal until he created his famous writing style. I can kind of relate to Shakespeare because our childhoods were somewhat similar in that we both grew up in just a middle class family. We weren t really anything special until we went on to discover who we truly were. Learning about Shakespeare also helps me understand a little more about The Taming of the Shrew. I know that because this book is a comedy, he wrote this in the early years of his career. By doing this research on Shakespeare, I was not only able to gain extra knowledge for myself but also a bit of background for the book we re going to read. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Getting Successful Universal Ehr Is Not Just Technology... Getting successful universal EHR is not just technology selection, implementation question it needs to address many other aspects such as physician s acceptance, policy/laws, incentives, security, and privacy and training issues before we can concentrate or focus on technology selection and implementations. The ecosystem should be ready with all these critical elements addressed only then successful EHR implementation can sustain in US. First and foremost there is a need to have consistency around the state/federal and HIPPA regulations which defines security and privacy issues in US. Due to conflicting requirements in these regulations mass acceptance of any medical system/technology cannot be effectively done. Second biggest issue for universal EHR adoption is the acceptance of EHR by physician s communities. The benefits of EHR has been identified and acknowledged by medical communities at large however the rate of adoption and use after implementation is sluggish. The biggest common contributor for implementation, design and use of EHR systems is physician. Physicians should be properly trained and emphasis on continual education should also be placed through continuing education credits. Unless small physician office (stand alone offices) buy in the adoption of EHR no matter what technology and processes we have in place, EHR won t be universally accepted and the entire benefit and value associated with EHR can be realized with universal acceptance of EHR. Thus need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are two factors that matter when it comes to spinal cord injury: the part of the spinal cordthat is affected and the seriousness of the injury. Moreover, the seriousness of a spinal cord disease is distinguished by two terns: complete and incomplete. • 7. Sonnet 60 Metrical Devices As opposed to the majority of Shakespeare s sonnets in the series that are addressed to an unnamed young man, sonnet 60 deals largely with the relentless approach of time and its war against humanity rather than love. In this sonnet, the breaking of the poetic form expected of a sonnet is utilized to not only enhance the specific localized metaphors in the poem, but the overall thematic content as well. By taking the traditional iambic pentameter and presenting moments of disruption, this poem draws attention to the dramatization of Time s march against humanity, and also to the ability of the writer of this poem who appears in the final couplet. In this paper, I intend to look specifically at the utilization of trochaic feet in order to examine the ways in which the manipulation of metrical devices can create meaning. The first quatrain is already rife with metrical irregularities and each one serves to both mimic and enhance the content of the lines. The first two lines of the sonnet, Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore, // So do our minutes hasten to their end draw an explicit comparison between the crashing waves beating against the shore and the approach of the end of one s time (1 2). Rather than the traditional unstressed, stressed pattern of iambic pentameter, Like as... and So do... are trochaic feet, meaning that the form is inverted to stressed, unstressed syllables. By beginning these lines in the same way, the meter serves to draw an even further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Reflection Of The Observation Of Vertical Jumping Vertical Jumping Volleyball, basketball, high jump, hurdling, long jump, and pole vaulting all have a certain motor skill in common and that motor skill is jumping. Jumping is a gross motor skill which coordinates movements which requires the use of the large muscles in the arms, legs, torso, and feet. Furthermore, jumping requires strength, balance, coordination, body awareness, and motor planning. Our lower extremity contains multiple muscles in order for a person to jump. Many of the muscles in the lower extremity cross more than one joint. The basic muscles that are used during jumping are the rectus femoris, gastrocnemius, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the long head of biceps femoris. The semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the long head of the biceps femoris are muscles that make up the hamstrings. Our task was to observe and report a certain motor skill and behavior in different stages of learning. Our group observed Toddlers /Preschool, Grade School, Jr. High, High School, and College students jumping in a non structure play (like recess), structure (like PE class or sport practice), and a competitive environment. Toddler/Preschool Toddlers and Preschoolers love to jump and they ll attempt to do it whenever and wherever as much as possible. • 10. Migrations And Belongs, By Dirk Hoerder The book, Migrations and Belongs, written by Dirk Hoerder, dealt with the experiences people faced as they migrated in voluntary and involuntary migrations. Chapter four, Migrations during War and Depression focused mainly on forced migrations. This chapter dealt with the fact that after World War I, people were forced out of their homes. There was a new concept that was emerging and becoming increasing popular, the concept of nationalization. People wanted their country to consist only of the people of that origin. They wanted the un mixing of people which led to widespread involuntary mass migration. There were such places that were open to new immigrants such as the Soviet Union, but places like Germany and France for example wanted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hitler and the Nazis were able to round up thousands of Jews and ship them off without them fighting back. I assume it was a similar tactic. It seems similar to today when government officials try to crack down on illegal immigration by rounding up the undocumented immigrants and deporting them. I do not even know if they try to send them back to the country they came from or just send them to Mexico. If the person is not even from Mexico the whole situation would be even more disconcerting. Chapter five, The Aftermath of War and Decolonization was basically a conclusion to the entire book and an explanation of what happened in terms of migration after World War II. Hoerder stated that after World War II ended, two major migrations took place. First, the migrations of refugees, prisoners of war, forced laborers, and soldiers. The second migration involved laborers to rebuild the destroyed countries of Europe. Those who were forced to move or flee during the war wanted to go back home, the problem was, many of their homes were destroyed. People needed to rebuild their communities so their life could resume. Families moved together but heartbreakingly many of those families were female led because fathers and husbands were killed in the war. This chapter was bitter sweet. It was good that the country was rebuilding after the disaster left by World War II and that families could return; the heartbreaking part was that the families were returning missing ... • 12. Essay on Faith and Reason Pope John Paul II once said, Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth in a word, to know himself so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves. (Fallible Blogma) Based on this significant and powerful quote, one can infer that faith and reason are directly associated and related. It can also be implied that the combination of faith and reason allows one to seek information and knowledge about truth and God; based on various class discussions and past academic teachings, it is understood that both faith and reason are the instruments that diverse parties... Because of this vast academic difference, it can be easy to assume that the interpretation of faith and reason among mystics and scholastics would obviously be different. However, since Ibn Rushd, Moses Maimonides and St. Thomas Aquinas are all scholastics their views will essentially be somewhat parallel and connected. Before being able to truly understand what each philosopher s stance ultimately is, this writer feels that it is important to distinguish the difference between each school of thought; the schools of thought in particular would be mysticism and scholasticism. According to the class discussion, materials and presentation, the term mysticism refers to a very personal and individual religious experience. In this school of thought, private faith and philosophy is accompanied with an emotional experience that surpasses reason. Mystics have a personal preference of a direct relationship and experience with God, or the divine. Mystics, like the ones studied in class, use certain visions, dreams and revelations to gain definite knowledge from God; further, mystics typically revolve their studies around God s infinite love. Conversely, the other school of thought is scholasticism; based on the class materials, it is understood that scholasticism refers to various methods and diverse ways of teaching in academic institutions. Differently from mysticism, this school of thought combines faith and reason. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One willpower challenge I currently have is my poor habit of spending money due to the temptationsthat occurs when I m mostly with my social peers, but through gaining self control, a better sense of self awareness, and motivation progresses me through this challenge. McGonigal demonstrated how we are heavily influenced by our social peers and how our temptations can be effected by each other. She stated Self control is influenced by social proof, making both willpower and temptation contagious (McGonigal 208). Being surrounded by my social peers who constantly spend on food and fun activities, it causes me to be more susceptible to these temptations. Today millennials are trying different turns in the workforce, not starting at the bottom to the top. Because of this empowerment, some get the dream job they work so hard for all the while being in school. With this some say they feel entitled; some say they know their worth. Also, the internet has created a new way for a side hustle, selling things on the internet, making money off YouTube videos, providing driving services, and even creating apps. So why wouldn t millennials want to own a house, knowing they have income coming in? Could it be they saw their parents face the recession? Could it be they haven t found their purpose in life? Or could the burden of college debt stop them from purchasing? Maybe they re waiting until they meet that special someone or possibly owning a home is overrated? The volcanic activities and the earthquakes in Hawaii are believed to have been formed using Peles magic stick. All over the world, each community living in the volcanic areas usually had a myth or folktales which explained the origin of the volcanoes and it was associated with gods. Scientifically, the formation of volcanoes can be explained from the melting of the mantle. The mantle is found between the molten iron core and the crust at the surface of the earth. After the mantle melts, it moves to the surface of the earth through the crust and it releases some of the most dangerous gasses on the surface of the earth. The melting of the mantle is caused by the high temperatures which are found in that zone and also the high pressure found in this area. This causes the rock to melt ... Marijuana, Also Called Herb, Weed, Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana, also called herb, weed, herb, pot, grass, and a vast number of other slang terms, is a greenish gray combination of the dried, shredded leaves and flowers of Cannabis sativa, the hemp plant. Some individuals smoke marijuana in hand rolled cigarettes called joints; many use pipes, water pipes, or marijuana cigars called blunts (often made by cutting open cigars and replacing some or all the tobacco with marijuana). According to government surveys, 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past year, and more than 14 million do so on a regular basis, despite harsh laws against its use. Marijuana is far less hazardous than tobacco or alcohol. Nearly 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Additionally, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to smoking tobacco. By comparison, marijuana is non hazardous and cannot cause death by overdose. The United States public policies should reflect this reality, not deny it. (NORML) The legalization of marijuana is a liberty that people deserve to choose for themselves. Legalization would also reduce crime, and give sick patients a new effective medicine. The most important reason for marijuana to be legalized is because people deserve to be free, and have the choice to smoke marijuana. As the members of what we call a free nation should have the right to make decisions for ourselves. Marijuana is less hazardous than other drugs that are already legal, like alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana also takes part of some religions. Just as Christians drink wine on certain occasions, religions such as some Buddhists, Hindus, and Rastafarians use marijuana in their spiritual and religious ceremonies. These individuals have the right to exercise their religion, and The First Amendment in our Constitution protects these rights. Smoking marijuana does not cause harm to others; therefore, ... During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of former slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts of the nation and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some resolutions. These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through moderation on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were intended to redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to the old plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence on cotton as a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew Johnson and early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into a land of industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts of money into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation methods. Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and swelled the ranks of the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension of cotton plantations into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence farmers. Furthermore, new technology and the increasing efficiency ... The lion s body is very muscular, with less bone mass than other animals of comparable size. This allows the lion to make powerful blows with its forepaws heavy enough to break a zebra s back. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements quiet enough to sneak up on prey. Lions walk on their toes which means they are digitigrade walkers. The claws on the paw grow as a series of layers. Around the time of the earliest lion s ancestor (124,000 years ago), tropical rainforests expanded across equatorial Africa, and the Sahara region started turning into the savannah. Lions living in the south and east of the continent became separated from, and had began to diverge from, those who were living in the west and north. Then 73,000 years later, the continent dried and the Sahara expanded, isolating off the lions in the west from those in the north. At the same time, lions on the west expanded their range into Central Africa, which became more inhabitable. Mangroves cultural significance towards Brisbane are strongly linked to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of Australia. They have provided food, shelter, medicine and many other resources to the land owners for over 40,000 years. They are also important to Brisbane s natural environmentbecause they are immensely productive ecosystems in which they provide various resources and services, for instance they protect shorelines from erosion. Brisbane rainforests hold significant cultural value, alike to that of the mangroves, to the Aborigines, in which they ve supply medicine and vast amounts of foods. • 32. Forced Confession In The Crucible The Use of Forced Confession in The Crucible According to Revolvy, A forced confession is a confession obtained by a suspect or a prisoner under means of torture ( including enhanced interrogation techniques) or other forms of duress. There are different aspects of forced torture. Physical and psychological torture are both used to force a confession. Physical force in the USA is rare during a confession because it has been outlawed (Redich). Many people will confess the truth if they are innocent because they have been coerced or they believe that it will be more beneficial to confess than to maintain their innocence (Innocence Project). In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, there are many instances of forced confession. Throughout The Crucible, multiple people are accused of being a witch. When the public and church thought someone was a witch, the person had two options. They could confess and say that they were a witch or they could be hung and die. This brings up the question, how does force confession affect the people in The Crucible? Physical force can be effective in getting people to confess, but there is no evidence suggesting that the information gained from physical force is considered reliable and effective (Redich). This is because the victims understand that the physical force will not stop unless they confess information. Through the pain, some of the information may be accurate, but it will almost always be tied with inaccurate and misleading ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Pathos, Pathos And Logos In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar Throughout the play Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses a variety of rhetorical strategies to articulate the points of many characters. More explicitly the use of different rhetorical strategies can be seen after the death of Caesar. Preceding Caesar s death speeches were given by Mark Antony and Brutus. In these speeches Brutus tried to justify Ceaser death with vague answers, while Mark Antony came to the support of Caesar and questioned why he really had to die. Brutus and Mark Antony s use of logos, pathos and ethos, allowed them both to give effective speeches. Although Brutus gave a strong speech, Mark Antony exceptional use of pathos and ethos provided him a slight edge over Brutus. Logos can be seen used by Brutus and Mark Antony, However Brutus was able to use logos more efficiently to appeal to the citizens. In particular Brutus used this rhetorical strategy to persuade the people to his side. Brutus s exploit of logos can be examined as he says Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men? (45). From these lines Brutus uses logos as he gives all the citizens a logical reason for why he killed Caesar. Brutus uses logos to explain to everyone that if Caesar was alive everybody would be living as slaves rather than freemen. In contrast to Brutus, Mark Antony uses logos to support Caesar. Mark Antony utilizes logos to disprove the claim made by Brutus about Caesar being ambitious. Mark Antony use of logos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Sancho Panza syndrome (then) and the American dream (then and now) In the 15th century, the combination of the Sancho Panza Syndrome and the American dream fueled exploration at that time and created an incredibly enticing allure of the New World. Exploration and colonization were performed to attain a higher social status, more wealth, and fame. The result of this exploration led to the discovery of new lands and laid the foundation for new countries, but it came with a cost. The perils of the new land discovered were often incredibly treacherous and sometimes times even life threatening, however, the American dream never faded away. The American dream today holds very similar to the American dream in the 15th and 16th centuries despite the gap of 500 years. These dreams are very alike, because they both are comprised of individuals trying to achieve success in lands of opportunity, and although some were prosperous, others were not so fortunate. The American dream today is a household concept, which states that if a person works hard enough, he or she can make a better life for themselves. This concept inspires countless people every day to overcome adversity in attempt to better their life. On a personal level, I can relate to this dream vicariously through my father. • 48. Bed Bath And Beyond Case Analysis There are many elements that affect price in the market place. This includes the demand for the product, how quickly it is sold, and competitor s prices, price sensitivity, and generic versus more expensive products. Producers are constantly attempting to improve their technology to make production more efficient. Higher efficiency helps companies maintain pace with consumer demand (Zacks Equity Research, 2017). This also allows them to produce the same amount of a particular product for less, resulting in a larger net profit (Zacks Equity Research, 2017). Due to technological advancements, workers now are producing 47 percent more than 20 years ago (West, 2016). Considering Bed Bath Beyond sells mostly bed and bathroom products, they have many competitors. They are in constant competition with other companies such as Target, Walmart and Amazon, which can force them to raise their prices (Hampton, 2017). However recent research has found that Bed Bath Beyond sells products at a cheaper pricethan Amazon (Kim, 2013). This is an advantage for Bed Bath Beyond since their prices (for some products) are lower, customers would be more inclined to purchase from them. Additionally, customers are continually looking for the best offers, deals, and ways to conserve their money while shopping. Bed Bath Beyond has created an incentive for their shoppers to purchase from their store as opposed to any other called the price match policy (Bed Bath Beyond, 2017a). This ... In California, as in most states, a bachelor s degree in social work (BSW), as well as the completion of additional coursework hours in areas such as child abuse assessment and alcohol/chemical dependency, is the minimum requirement to become a Licensed Bachelor s Social Worker (LBSW). An LBSW must work under the supervision of a Licensed Master Social Worker or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licenses which both require a master s degree in social work (MSW). Most California State University campuses in the southern California area offer accredited degrees in social work. In particular, the University of Southern California offers a top ranked online MSW program.
