Metropolitan Museum Of Modern Art Analysis
The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art trip was amazing, I have the pleasure of seeing numerous
art work that I have heard about. But going there give me a real taste of the struggle as well as the
accomplishment of these artists like Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri
Rousseau, Fernand Leger and so much more. These paintings were the expression of the free liberty of
their imagination where the artist did feel have the freedom to portrait anything that he was please to.
But the two ones that attract my attention were from the same artist Vincent Van Gogh; these painting
were really different from what you could have actually seeing from the reality. The starry night
painting portrait the raise of the sun on a sleeping village,

Social Darwinism During The Gilded Age
Social Darwinism was a popular term during the late 19th century. According to Social Darwinism,
the human race evolves only through competition and only the fit survive while the weak cease to
exist. Therefore Social Darwinism applied during the Gilded age meant that the wealthy represented
the fit, whereas the poor represented the weak. Wealthy men like John D. Rockefeller used this to
justify their tremendous wealth gain. However, American industries expanded rapidly; new
technologies and innovations came about and took over the cities which increased production. Many
of Americans and immigrants migrated to the cites to get jobs; but the working conditions during the
time were very poor. Employees worked long hard hours in harsh environments and received little
pay, which caused many people to live in poverty. This poverty issue formulated the theory of Social
Darwinism. Many people used this theory to justify the distinction between the rich and the poor.
Social Darwinism also allowed businessmen to have merit because it allowed them to expand and earn
money. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rockefeller was the world s most wealthiest man of his time. He was the founder of the Standard Oil
company. During his time being alive he collected over 336 billion dollars. Rockefeller achieved this
by using horizontal integration. Horizontal integration is where you buy out your competition and
Rockefeller did this but you can also say that by buying out his competition it created a monopoly.
Anyway John D. Rockefeller s assertion on Social Darwinism was that if you were made rich then it
was God s will. Rockefeller also said that the growth of a large business is merely a survival of the
fittest. Rockefeller donated over 500 million dollars to different causes such as Universities and the

Police Labor Organization Research Paper
Explain what constitutes a police labor organization, and how it differs from a police labor union. Is
the Fraternal Order of Police a police union ? Why or why not.
When looking and comparing the definition of both the police labor organization, and the police labor
union, one can make several generalizations.
In defining the term labor organization it means any organization of any kind, or any agency or
employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and which exists for the
purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages,
rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions of work ( labor organization, n.d., para. 5).
An example of a labor organization for law enforcement is The International Union of Police
Associations AFL CIO union ; it is exclusively chartered for active and retired law enforcement
officers, with its sole mission to fight for the needs of the members male or female in law enforcement
and their needs ( I.U.P.A, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Involvement With And Performance During The Placement At...
To evidence my involvement with and performance during the placement at the UK Health Forum
(UKHF), I have collected evidence, which satisfies the following 6 learning outcomes, outlined in the
placement module (Appendix 1). Throughout my placement I have produced several pieces of writing
as well as obtained a few corporate documents to produce the portfolio of evidence. This paper gives
an overview of the collected evidence (Appendix 2) as well as provides a rationale for the inclusion of
each document in the portfolio under a specific learning outcome. The paper is split into 6 sections,
according to learning outcomes. LO A2: Knowledge of the policy environments, organisational
structures, and working practices, relevant to Global Health.
For this learning outcome, I have gathered a number of documents to demonstrate how I met this
learning outcome. The documents include Cover Letter, UKHF corporate brochure, UKHF
Organogram, Healthy Places Flyer as well as a page from my Working Notes. Both Cover Letter and
UKHF Corporate Brochure are crucial pieces of evidence since they highlight the policy environment
and working practices of the organisation. My cover letter illustrates my knowledge of the work and
projects of the organisation, relevant to Global Health. Additionally, the brochure explains the role of
the organisation within policy field as well as outlines policy areas the UKHF is engaged in. It also

Franklin Blake The Moonstone
The Moonstone Everything is never as it seems. In Wilkie Collin s The Moonstone, three Hindoos are
sent on a quest to recover the sacred Moonstone thieved from their holy temple by an Englishman. In
England, they are stereotyped and become victims of racism. Although Franklin Blake, one of the
protagonists of this story, appears attractive from afar, he is a little uglier up close. Mr. Blake is
appealing overall but exhibits behaviors that are disagreeable, while the Hindoos fluctuate between
appearing villainous and victimized. Despite the Hindoos roles as antagonist, they are the true victims
and heroes of this story. To the Indians, the Moonstone is a sacred gem in a worshipping temple in
India, set in the forehead of the four handed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is considered the nicest boy who ever spun a top or broke a window , and is one of those men the
women all like (Collins 29, 218). He is well rounded, being educated in Italian, German, French, and
English culture, making him a sort of universal genius (Collins 30). One his most detrimental
characteristics in his inconsistency in what and how he thinks and acts. Franklin undergoes puzzling
shifts and transformations [...] due to the effect on him of his foreign training (Collins 62). In
consequence, he easily gives up and quits, frequently changing his mind. True heroes never give up.
As quickly as he searcches for the Diamond when it was first stolen, he gave up, labeling the case [as]

In addition to these regrettable qualities, he bears the disgraceful habit of being constantly in debt.
These matters of family notoriety show the very disgraceful part of Franklin, who has no principle , to
Rachel and her mother (Collins 263, 395). Every act performed by Franklin Blake is beneficial to his
personal gain; he never once does something for someone other than himself, as opposed to the
Hindoos. He first searches vigorously for the Diamond, in the hopes of winning over more of Rachel s
affection. Later, when Rachel leaves, he no longer feels interest in the case without the prospect of
winning her over. He goes abroad to forget her (Collins 342). When returning to England, he discovers
that the Diamond [is] an unpardoned offense and searches to lay [his]hands on the thief who took the

Art Gallery Analysis
The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a number
of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm painting. The
composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea. The artwork has
no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply oil on canvas. The
overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back to back, enjoying their hour with tea.
Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about leisure time that corresponds with the
artwork s line, color, and pose. When I first glanced at this painting, one cannot help but notice the
overall fuzziness of the composition. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the hues in the piece either lack are tints or shadows, lacking in saturation. Therefore, when one
views this work instead of feeling engulfed or perhaps even overwhelm by the canvas, like when
strong chroma of colors are used, the viewer is relaxed. With the color and brushstrokes, the
composition has a soft and fluffy quality which only adds to the tranquility of the scene. In addition to
the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work, Knox s use of analogous colors supplements the
composition s peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue and
the plant life in the background as well is a shadowed green. The shadowed green appearing first to
the left of the umbrella, and to the right of the umbrella. The analogous pair aiding in a relaxing the
viewer but also establishing unity through the rhythm of the repeated shadowed green. That unity, in

Design Of The City Using Acrylic On Canvas
Lee Beaton created Colours of the City using acrylic on canvas. The painting is currently on exhibit at
Cre8ery Gallery located in Winnipeg s Exchange District. Beaton focuses on creating architectural
themed paintings or energized abstracts. This particular painting has a large size of 48 x 36 which can
only be entirely viewed when standing several feet back. Beaton does not have a specific audience she
is aiming towards when creating her paintings. She wants to share with the viewers how we are all
beautiful and also wants to show that it is what is inside that makes us beautiful . In Colours of the
City, Beaton uses form, content, and style to capture the ideas and design of the city that gives this art
piece an interesting well worth seeing aspect. This large canvas is mostly filled with warm hue of
green, orange, red, and white, but the saturation is very dull. The dullness surrounding the city
represents the state in which our society is currently living in; from the pollution, climate change, and
the negative impact of urbanism on the environment. The aspect that is most emphasized is the city,
which is centred in the middle and only takes up a small portion of the canvas. The city is represented
by nine buildings which looks figure 1 corrupted due to uneven and lightly painted lines. On each side
of the city lays two plant forms showing that they are barely surviving due to their small black figures.
Draining from the bottom of the buildings is a cold blue

The severity of crisis caused AIG to bear huge losses on Credit Default Swaps (CDS). Unable to pay
up to those losses would have driven it out of the global financial sector which meant huge losses not
only to the people but to the investors and a greater catastrophe for the government had it allowed AIG
to fail. The federal government had to protect the market from an even greater collapse, so it issued a
180 billion bailout and took control of the lamentable situation. Initially, the amount was 100 billion,
but it proved out to be increasingly insufficient which made the US Treasury on a predictable path
towards bankruptcy when another 80 billion were extracted from which the US government gained
80% equity interest in AIG (Gethard, 2009).
The first formal form of government assistance was carried out when the Financial Treasury provided
AIG with $40 billion from TARP (Trouble Asset Relief Program) funds. TARP was an initiated by
George W Bush during the 2008 financial crisis on 3rd October 2008. It was signed into law for the
government to buy toxic assets and equity reserves from different financial institutions to bolster the
financial sector ultimately. TARP was regulated under the SSFI (Systemically Significant Financial
Institution Program), and AIG was the only beneficiary of the funds under it. TARP also created a
capital equity program to allow AIG to access up to $30 billion. The NY Fed for further assistance

Freezing Point Depression
Introduction:
The purpose of this lab experiment is to calculate the change in the freezing point of cyclohexanol and
a solution made with cyclohexanol to find the molar mass of the unknown solute. The colligative
properties of solutions are based on the concentration of molecules rather than the identity of the
chemical. Freezing point, a colligative property of a solution, is constant in any substance and does not
rely on the amount given. For any solution composted of two or more components, there is one
solvent and one or more solutes. The major amount is the solvent and the minor amounts are the
solutes. When solutes are dissolved in solvents, the solution s freezing point is ... Show more content

This can be accounted for in the sample of cyclohexanol. The experiment must have had a
contaminated sample of cyclohexanol, rather than a pure sample. This accounts for the difference in
the experimental values and the actual values.
Conclusion:
By demonstrating the application of a colligative property of a solution, the change in freezing point
observed between the cyclohexanol and the solution with the cyclohexanol as the solvent can be used
to calculate the unknown solute s molar mass. The data in the lab was graphed and shown in the
cooling curve. Bases off the data on the graph, the freezing points are shown where the temperature
remains constant. Using the freezing points, the difference of freezing point was calculated. The
molality of solution was calculated in the lab using the molar mass of the unknown solution from the
given previous data. The data in the lab showed the molar mass of the unknown solute to be off from
the given molar mass in the lab. This can be explained through contamination. Theoretically, it was
learned that by calculating the freezing point of an unknown substance, it can be identified. The lab
showed important techniques in using a graph

Cure of the Streets
The poet Rainer Maria Rilke says that a work of art is good if it has sprung from necessity (Farley).
Hip Hop was born on the poor and dangerous streets of the USA. Minorities such as African
Americans and Hispanics dominated these streets, and they felt the need to address their long standing
common issues. Therefore, a new form of art, hip hop was born, and became the method of self
expression for these minorities. Lyrics have presented what they have been through. While rap has
turned from a tool of self expression to a multi billion dollar industry, it has continued to
constructively affect the social and economic structure of the society. While serving as a good
alternative to the streets, hip hop positively uplifts the cultural barriers within the society and educates
the youth. In order to better understand the necessity and the influence of hip hop, the history of how
and where this music emerged is highly important. In the 1970s, Hip hop was born in the immensely
impoverished, crime ridden, drug infested streets of the Bronx , which were often called America s
worst slum or the epitome of urban failure (Price 4). Emmett Price III, the writer of Hip Hop Culture,
says that the ostracized, marginalized, and oppressed youth started hip hop as a liberation movement ,
and they aimed to combat against issues of racial prejudice, cultural persecution, and social,
economic, and political disparities (Price 1). From the 1970s to the 1990s, hip hop had increased

Summary Of A Survival Plan For The Wild Cyborg
Technology is taking over the world. A Survival Plan for the Wild Cyborg article by Rinie Van Est is
an excellent article focusing on how technology has developed and adapted towards human s
lifestyles. As technology becomes increasingly advanced humans are becoming less human.
Relationships are being destroyed by obsessive internet use, children are constantly checking their
phones, and society is only caring about what new technology will come out next. When was the last
time I saw someone walking in public without a cell phone glued to their hand or ear? As technology
takes over, it is time to set boundaries. Rinie Van Est argues that humans have become so addicted to
technology that we are becoming more and more like machines. We are ... Show more content on

One idea is that we must freely make our own decisions about our life and ambitions. I believe that the
world is beautiful and diverse. It is okay to be different and being unique is better than blending in to
feel wanted. We all have a different view on life, what is right, what is wrong, and how to live. We
need to let people be themselves and not judge others because of diversity. Also, the acts of loving,
caring for, and parenting need to be our priority. When we stop caring less about technology and more
for our loved ones we will cherish what is important to us. My children are my world and I want to
show them I care by providing love, attention, support, encouragement, and acceptance. When my
children are speaking to me, I want to show them they are being heard by looking at them and not
staring at my phone. Finally, we will learn by trial and error. We are not perfect; unfortunately, we will
all make mistakes. The beauty in making mistakes is learning from them. The world would be dull if
everyone was perfect and the same. Let s start loving our differences, accepting others choices, and
learning from our own mistakes. We need to let others make mistakes so they can learn and grow from
them. To be compassionate towards others, we must stop making judgements and accept our

This paper attempts to dispel rumors, myths, and confusion revolving around the newly released chip

in France. Only until recently, October 1, 2015, have they become a standard in the United States. Due
to the numerous large scale financial card breaches affecting consumers and retailers in since the year
2000, Target, Home Depot, TJX, and Heartland to name a few, the financial institutions decided it was
time to enhance security at point of sale (POS) terminals. This self imposed security enhancement

Fraud and theft doesn t just occur in Europe, so the big question is why didn t the United States

The Simple The Better By Wranke Analysis
The Simple the Better In a place filled of talented people, Italy was the location in which performance
was vital in a rich or important person s life. Wranke s article explains how important it was to have
talent, in Italy, during the renaissance. The renaissance is known as the rebirth of painting, sculpting,
and almost everything we could possibly think off. During the renaissance, most artist had a common
enemy known as the court, which was ruled by the most wealthy and powerful families in Italy. The
court was in charge of one s position in society. When an individual would be born in a royal family,

The lords preferred having a good time to relax rather than having a piece of art been done in a
complicate way. This lead to the point in which artists preferred to be ranked together with
philosophers, because painters preferred the intellectually elite status of poets and philosophers... (pg.
28). Even though artists would have had a poor quality lifestyle, for them it was a lot better than been
a buffone because a buffone was a career that lacked respect. The overall purpose of Warnke s article
is the explanation of the financial status that one could expect as a painter, singer and buffone, during
the renaissance time. The author explains his thesis thoroughly, but the reader ends with more
questions regarding the situation that performers would have. The struggle of having work and been
paid not only for the need of money but for the social status as an artist. In this article, the point of
view is that as an artist in the category of paint, doing something that was less time consuming would
leave an individual with better life opportunities, rather than an artist doing complex frescos and

Biological And Psychological Aspect Of Schizophrenia Essay
Biological and Psychological Aspect of Schizophrenia

Professor Matthew Sanders
October 20, 2016
Abstract
This paper defines schizophrenia from a biological and psychological perspective and also provides
treatment to help combat symptoms of schizophrenia. This paper has three important contributions.
First, by defining and expanding on schizophrenia from a biological perspective, I can identify the
nature related predispositions. After expanding from a biological approach, secondly, I will analyze
schizophrenia from a psychological aspect by determining if there is any environment or nurturing
externals that can result to schizophrenia. Lastly, I will provide treatment details and also reveal early
signs to schizophrenia. This paper is important because schizophrenia is an epic mental disease and it
is crucially important to bring awareness to the public of how we can limit the illness. It is unclear
whether schizophrenia have only a biological background or psychological background, but what was
discovered is that both contribute to schizophrenia. Positive and negative treatment can be combatted
undergoing pharmaceutical and psychotherapy,
Basis
The scientific interpretation of schizophrenia was one that supported a physical basis which was
attributed to an imbalance in the cognition of humans. The goal of natural science aimed in finding
rational, scientific causes, that would lead to biological

The Battle of Adolescence in The Catcher in the Rye by...
Adolescence is stressful and confusing to say the least, and is a time in one s life where one begins to
discover who they are and what they want as they transition into the adult world. In J.D. Salinger s
classic American novel, The Catcher in the Rye, the main character Holden, is a downhearted teenage
boy used by Salinger in order to portray universal themes to the reader including isolation, loss of
innocence, and the phoniness of the adult world. Through Salinger s use of symbolism, the reader is
able to ponder Holden and his struggles as he embarks into adulthood in order to come to a deeper
understanding of the themes Salinger s symbols represent. One of the most widely recognized symbols
of the book is Holden s curiosity about the ducks in Central Park. Holden longs for answers to his
question of where the ducks go in the winter. The ducks. Do you know by any chance? I mean does
somebody come around in a truck or something and take them away, or do they fly away by
themselves go south or something? (107). As the ice freezes over the pond and winter comes, the
ducks leave, able to escape the brutal winter and the ice for a more pleasant, warmer climate to the
south. Holden longs to avoid being apart of the adult world that is engulfed with phoniness, but is
unable to understand how to do so. The fish don t go no place. They stay right where they are, the fish.

The Importance Of Giftedness And Talent
The researcher observes that the DMGT differentiates between giftedness and talent in which
giftedness includes the possession and use of untrained outstanding natural abilities (called gifts), in at
least one ability domain, to a degree that places an individual at least among the top 10% of age peers.
Besides, It s clear in the figure that the natural abilities of the gifted have three domains; intellectual
domain which includes (general intelligence, numerical, verbal...), mental domain which includes
(creativity, fluency, leadership...) and physical domain which includes (perceptual, vision, endurance,
speed...) (Gagné, 2010).
On the other hand, Talent includes the outstanding mastery of developed competencies (knowledge
and skills) in at least one field of human activity to a degree that places an individual at least among
the top 10% of learning peers. The DMGT shows that when gifted uses his natural abilities to interact
with environment through catalysts and development processes, gifted becomes talented with
competency. Moreover, the first field of the competency is the academic field which includes language
and other fields of life such as technical, science and technology, arts, games and sports (Gagné,
2010).
In sum, talent fields are related to subjects, academic activities and scientific applications in different
fields of life, including technology. Consequently, English subject and using technology are related to
talent fields. In contrast to this, giftedness

Comparing Two Theories Of Moral Relativism
The difference between a right action and a wrong action plays a key role in many theories in
philosophy. Morality is an important aspect of life and majority of our actions are dependent on doing
what is moral or immoral. Moral relativism is the theory that defines whether an action is considered
moral or immoral. There are two forms of moral relativism, cultural relativism and individual
relativism, which are two theories about the morality of our actions. The two theories of moral
relativism provide a reasoning for the justification of moral or immoral actions. However, these
theories also present various contradictions that undermine the theories central ideas. Individual
relativism differs from cultural relativism because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One criticism of cultural relativism is that it would not be acceptable to say that another society s
customs are inferior to our own. If morality is based on a culture s rules, it would be hypocritical to
tell another culture that what they are doing is wrong. It cannot be acceptable for one culture to
consider their own culture superior by believing that their set of rules is the true guidance for morality.
I believe this criticism raises an important issue. Since morality is constituted by different rules for
different cultures, there is no way of knowing what they ultimate truth is about what actions are
considered moral or immoral if one thing can be considered good in one society, but bad in another.
Individual relativism has also been challenged because it states the idea that the morality of our
actions can be determined by our own thoughts and intuitions. However, the criticism is that how can
establish morality by our own thinking if different people have conflicting ideas. I agree with this
criticism. There would be no certain way of legitimately establishing the morality of an action if that

Why Is The Nuremberg Trial Important
The Nuremberg Trials The Nuremberg Trials started November 20, 1945, and ended October 1, 1946.
This was the first trial like this in the history of mankind, and the Nazis are the ones who started it.
Twenty four high ranking Nazis went on trial because of the horror that they gave people during
WWII, (History.com 2017). First of all, the trials started because after the war everyone knew what
the Nazis were doing, with the Jews and the Concentration Camps. So when the war was over the
other countries in the war could take the people in charge of doing so to the Jews to court. The
countries that took the Nazi group on trial was, Great Britain, Soviet Union, and the United States

September 11th of 2001 is a day in history that will be remembered forever. What was first thought to

morning of the attacks a group of al Qaeda terrorists took control of four commercial jetliners headed
to California and purposively crashed two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The last
plane fell into a Pennsylvania field never reaching its final destination, The White House. These

Nearly thirty minutes after the terrorists launched their take over, the passengers charged the cockpit

up and down. The passengers did not give up; they continued their assault until the hijacker knew they
were about to break through. The flight was going over Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the pilot
decided to aim the airplane going 580 miles per hour into an abandoned field only about twenty
minutes from its original target, Washington, D.C. where they planned on attacking the White House
(CNN). After the attack all that was left was death and wreckage. Shortly after the demolition many
engineers, contractors, ironworkers and rescue workers went to help the police and firefighters with
volunteer work to help the victims. All of these people were very concerned with recovering any
survivors that were trapped within the soldering wreckage. Large pieces of iron that fell from the
wreckage needed to be moved from the scene and required larger machines to do so. Over 108
thousand trucks were used to transport materials to multiple facilities so that the wreckage can be
investigated to help decipher human remains and physical evidence of the hijackers and their planes.

An Aesthetic Experience
To have an aesthetic experience there are two criteria that need to be met. The first is paying close
attention to intrinsic features. The second is that the object we focus on must be viewed as worthy of
our attention. An example from the book of an object being viewed as valuable is on page 58. Young
children will pick weeds and think they are just as beautiful as flowers because they do not see a
difference. As they get older they begin to see what is held at a higher value in society (p.58). I see this
at work when children bring me grass or rocks to hold onto because they see them as special. Most of
the girls only pick things with color, so they can kind of tell the difference. During the spring one of
our teachers was admiring a large bloom on the hydrangea bush. An older student then decided to pick
it and bring it to the teacher. This upset the teacher because that flower was not meant for the kids to
pick, but this shows how children understand and copy the ideas of adults. From the book I learned
that the most common way of assessing a child s maturity level in the 1940 s was to look at how well
they could draw a picture of a person (p.58). I can see this as a realistic way of assessing young
students. However, as you get older I don t think this would work as well. I am very bad at imagining
things so I would have a difficult time conjuring up a picture of a person in my mind to draw. I am
also not very good at drawing and when I draw people they are mostly

Analysis Of William Tennyson s Lord Of The Flies
After careful analyzation, the title is what it was thought to be. Initially when reading the title, it gives
off the impression that something will break or will already be broken. This is clear in the poem after
reading as the speaker and his emotional state are hurt due to the loss of a loved one. The speaker s
life, and emotional mind is broken for he cannot express himself due to his loss. In this way, the title is
deemed fit and gives further insight as it shows clearly now that the speaker is truly broken. When the
speaker is compared next to Tennyson s life, one can make several parallels. For example, The vanish
d hand and the voice are likely the speaker s loved one who has passed away. Thus, the speaker cannot
seem to find happiness anymore as life seems to keep moving as he stays remorsing about the past s
tragic incident. Tennyson lost his father and best friend within the length of two years, which led him
to write this piece. He puts his same emotions into this as he too did not know how to cope with the
losses at hand. Similarly, he was surrounded by life moving on, being full of happiness, as he slunk
down and carried the burden of remembering his loved ones. Hence, he truly felt at one point that the
tender days would never make a return in his life. Altogether, the themes of this poem are clearly
death and coping with it as the speaker fails to do so. This can be attributed to the problem that life
will always continue on, not waiting for

The Effects Of Ecstasy (MDMA)
methamphetamine), also known as ecstasy or Molly, is a psychoactive drug that is similar to both the
stimulant drug amphetamine and the hallucinogen mescaline. Those taking the drug typically
experience feelings of increased energy, euphoria, emotional warmth and empathy. However, there can
also be negative side effects to its use, including confusion, depression, insomnia, and anxiety.
Additionally, heavy users also experience confusion, memory loss, and problems with attention. It is
unknown whether or not the drug is addictive, but some experiments have shown that some users
report symptoms of dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal. (Volkow, 2013)

Using a purified form of MDMA, researchers reduced blood flow to areas of the brain that have been
linked to emotion and memories. This decrease reduces neurotransmitter communication between the
temporal lobe and the prefrontal cortex, which are involved in emotional control. For this reason,
MDMA has been considered in the treatment of patients with uncontrollable post traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD). In patients with PTSD, taking a single dose of MDMA was shown to decrease
activity in areas of the brain that store negative or bad memories, and increasing or exciting the areas
of the brain that store good memories. (Carhart Harris,

Essay about Changing the Culture at British Airways
Changing the Culture at British Airways
Changing the Culture at British Airways The British Airways case study was a very interesting case to
read. It proves that not all people can be leaders, especially the chairman, board and chief executives
of British European Airways (BEA) and British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC.) According to
the case study of British Airways, the life at the old British Airways was bloody awful (Changing the
Culture of British Airways, 1990, p. 1). There definitely was a crisis happening in that airline. They
didn t seem to have a cohesive culture and it seemed as if they continued down this path they would
no longer have a business either. British Airways had this divide between BEA and BOAC. ... Show

And another mindset was,
If you re providing service at no cost to the taxpayer, then you re doing quite well (Changing the
Culture of British Airways, 1990, p. 3).
If you had to compare this philosophy to Kotter s book, The Heart of Change, this company was in
huge trouble. There was definitely no leadership just really greedy chairman, in my opinion. There
was definitely no sense of urgency and such a lack of vision. The unfortunate this was it still remained
the same even when reorganization occurred in 1976, by Sir Frank McFadzean. According to the
study, divisional loyalties prevented the carrier from attaining a common focus (Changing the Culture
of British Airways, 1990, pp. 3 4).
It was not until February 1981, where things began to look up for British Airways. It was when Sir
John King became chairman. Sir King made radial steps by reducing staff significantly, freezing pay
increases, closing several airline routes, online stations, and engineering bases. In addition, halting
cargo only services, and selling the fleet, and inflicting massive cuts upon offices, administrative
services and staff clubs (Changing the Culture of British Airways, 1990, p. 4). Although you would
think this would have caused a lot of fear and negativity with employees my impression of what I

Forensic Evidence From A Crime Scene
Procedures used to examine and recover forensic evidence from a crime scene.
There are many different procedures in Forensic Science which are used to gather evidence from
crime scenes, all of which vary due to no crime scene being identical. Examining the evidence from a
crime scene is essential and a very important factor of Forensic Science. The evidence gathered from a
crime scene will provide facts and piece together information regarding the crime committed, this
information is then used to form a case and debate what happened at the crime scene. Once all the
information is gathered and the facts are established, the case is then presented to a court of justice to
prove or disprove any facts and evidence.
Usually there are many steps when examining and recovering forensic evidence for a crime scene and
these are as follow.
Planning to examine a crime scene
When planning to examine a crime scene all aspects should be taken into account before entering. The
first thing that should happen is cordoning off the crime scene, this is predominately performed by the
police and is done so to ensure the crime scene is not contaminated by public access. Once the scene is
secure access is restricted to the police and forensic team. When planning to examine a crime scene
key information should be available which will help identify the location, area and what type of crime
has been committed. This information will enable the forensic team to competently perform a rigorous
examination

United States Government Regulation Analysis
When the forefathers of the republic of America fabricated The United States Government, they held
one principle ideology above all; a limited government that works to benefit and protect the people is
the best way to lead a nation. Regulations are necessary to keep citizens safe and allow for controlled
growth regardless of Libertarian belief; government regulation is an absolute necessity. The

One of those various jobs is creating laws that help govern the nation. The law making process is a
tedious procedure that is exceptionally important. The executive branch such as the president, House
of Representatives and the Senate, will create laws that will better the nation. After the bill is written,
it will then move to the legislative branch who will either pass or deny the bill (American). For
instance, a law was passed that requires people to have proper safety while driving in the car. This
includes seatbelts and airbags. These will protect someone tremendously if they are in a car accident
(American). The government has also passed a bill to make the use of a cell phone or drinking while
driving illegal (American). This law protects not only the driver, but the rest of the people on the road.
Additionally, the government also creates the Social Security program; a program that provides
income for elderly people to help them keep their lives satisfactory (American). All of the jobs that the

VMI Bound to the Civil War
VMI is inextricably bound to the Civil war and some of its key figures. Tearing down the Newmarket
Monument and Stonewall Jackson statues and erasing Robert E. Lee s name from buildings, wipes out
over a decade of VMI s history. No college in America was more involved in the Civil War than VMI
and that history should be acknowledged by the school and discussed. We mentioned the illustrious
careers of Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee earlier. It is all right for the school to honor their
achievements, especially Jackson s as he was a professor at the school, however, they must also
acknowledge that these men were on the wrong side of history as well. Of the 1,930 alumni, who were

may wish to have a more structured school setting, but who also do not wish to serve in the military
the opportunity to attend the school with the aspects they are looking for. The chance to learn in a
military structured setting without fulfilling a required military service is a necessary option for
students. Finally, VMI plays an important role historically for the Commonwealth. It was the first state

  • 2. Metropolitan Museum Of Modern Art Analysis The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art trip was amazing, I have the pleasure of seeing numerous art work that I have heard about. But going there give me a real taste of the struggle as well as the accomplishment of these artists like Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Fernand Leger and so much more. These paintings were the expression of the free liberty of their imagination where the artist did feel have the freedom to portrait anything that he was please to. But the two ones that attract my attention were from the same artist Vincent Van Gogh; these painting were really different from what you could have actually seeing from the reality. The starry night painting portrait the raise of the sun on a sleeping village, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Darwinism During The Gilded Age Social Darwinism was a popular term during the late 19th century. According to Social Darwinism, the human race evolves only through competition and only the fit survive while the weak cease to exist. Therefore Social Darwinism applied during the Gilded age meant that the wealthy represented the fit, whereas the poor represented the weak. Wealthy men like John D. Rockefeller used this to justify their tremendous wealth gain. However, American industries expanded rapidly; new technologies and innovations came about and took over the cities which increased production. Many of Americans and immigrants migrated to the cites to get jobs; but the working conditions during the time were very poor. Employees worked long hard hours in harsh environments and received little pay, which caused many people to live in poverty. This poverty issue formulated the theory of Social Darwinism. Many people used this theory to justify the distinction between the rich and the poor. Social Darwinism also allowed businessmen to have merit because it allowed them to expand and earn money. ... During his time being alive he collected over 336 billion dollars. Rockefeller achieved this by using horizontal integration. Horizontal integration is where you buy out your competition and Rockefeller did this but you can also say that by buying out his competition it created a monopoly. Anyway John D. Rockefeller s assertion on Social Darwinism was that if you were made rich then it was God s will. Rockefeller also said that the growth of a large business is merely a survival of the fittest. • 4. Police Labor Organization Research Paper Explain what constitutes a police labor organization, and how it differs from a police labor union. Is the Fraternal Order of Police a police union ? Why or why not. When looking and comparing the definition of both the police labor organization, and the police labor union, one can make several generalizations. In defining the term labor organization it means any organization of any kind, or any agency or employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and which exists for the purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages, rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions of work ( labor organization, n.d., para. 5). An example of a labor organization for law enforcement is The International Union of Police Associations AFL CIO union ; it is exclusively chartered for active and retired law enforcement officers, with its sole mission to fight for the needs of the members male or female in law enforcement and their needs ( I.U.P.A, n.d.). ... • 5. Involvement With And Performance During The Placement At... To evidence my involvement with and performance during the placement at the UK Health Forum (UKHF), I have collected evidence, which satisfies the following 6 learning outcomes, outlined in the placement module (Appendix 1). Throughout my placement I have produced several pieces of writing as well as obtained a few corporate documents to produce the portfolio of evidence. This paper gives an overview of the collected evidence (Appendix 2) as well as provides a rationale for the inclusion of each document in the portfolio under a specific learning outcome. The paper is split into 6 sections, according to learning outcomes. LO A2: Knowledge of the policy environments, organisational structures, and working practices, relevant to Global Health. For this learning outcome, I have gathered a number of documents to demonstrate how I met this learning outcome. The documents include Cover Letter, UKHF corporate brochure, UKHF Organogram, Healthy Places Flyer as well as a page from my Working Notes. Both Cover Letter and UKHF Corporate Brochure are crucial pieces of evidence since they highlight the policy environment and working practices of the organisation. My cover letter illustrates my knowledge of the work and projects of the organisation, relevant to Global Health. Additionally, the brochure explains the role of the organisation within policy field as well as outlines policy areas the UKHF is engaged in. • 6. Franklin Blake The Moonstone The Moonstone Everything is never as it seems. In Wilkie Collin s The Moonstone, three Hindoos are sent on a quest to recover the sacred Moonstone thieved from their holy temple by an Englishman. In England, they are stereotyped and become victims of racism. Although Franklin Blake, one of the protagonists of this story, appears attractive from afar, he is a little uglier up close. Mr. Blake is appealing overall but exhibits behaviors that are disagreeable, while the Hindoos fluctuate between appearing villainous and victimized. Despite the Hindoos roles as antagonist, they are the true victims and heroes of this story. These matters of family notoriety show the very disgraceful part of Franklin, who has no principle , to Rachel and her mother (Collins 263, 395). Every act performed by Franklin Blake is beneficial to his personal gain; he never once does something for someone other than himself, as opposed to the Hindoos. He first searches vigorously for the Diamond, in the hopes of winning over more of Rachel s affection. Later, when Rachel leaves, he no longer feels interest in the case without the prospect of winning her over. He goes abroad to forget her (Collins 342). • 7. Art Gallery Analysis The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a number of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm painting. The composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea. The artwork has no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply oil on canvas. The overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back to back, enjoying their hour with tea. Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about leisure time that corresponds with the artwork s line, color, and pose. When I first glanced at this painting, one cannot help but notice the overall fuzziness of the composition. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work, Knox s use of analogous colors supplements the composition s peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue and the plant life in the background as well is a shadowed green. • 8. Design Of The City Using Acrylic On Canvas Lee Beaton created Colours of the City using acrylic on canvas. The painting is currently on exhibit at Cre8ery Gallery located in Winnipeg s Exchange District. Beaton focuses on creating architectural themed paintings or energized abstracts. This particular painting has a large size of 48 x 36 which can only be entirely viewed when standing several feet back. Beaton does not have a specific audience she is aiming towards when creating her paintings. She wants to share with the viewers how we are all beautiful and also wants to show that it is what is inside that makes us beautiful . In Colours of the City, Beaton uses form, content, and style to capture the ideas and design of the city that gives this art piece an interesting well worth seeing aspect. This large canvas is mostly filled with warm hue of green, orange, red, and white, but the saturation is very dull. The dullness surrounding the city represents the state in which our society is currently living in; from the pollution, climate change, and the negative impact of urbanism on the environment. The aspect that is most emphasized is the city, which is centred in the middle and only takes up a small portion of the canvas. The city is represented by nine buildings which looks figure 1 corrupted due to uneven and lightly painted lines. On each side of the city lays two plant forms showing that they are barely surviving due to their small black figures. Draining from the bottom of the buildings is a cold blue ... The severity of crisis caused AIG to bear huge losses on Credit Default Swaps (CDS). Unable to pay up to those losses would have driven it out of the global financial sector which meant huge losses not only to the people but to the investors and a greater catastrophe for the government had it allowed AIG to fail. The federal government had to protect the market from an even greater collapse, so it issued a 180 billion bailout and took control of the lamentable situation. Initially, the amount was 100 billion, but it proved out to be increasingly insufficient which made the US Treasury on a predictable path towards bankruptcy when another 80 billion were extracted from which the US government gained 80% equity interest in AIG (Gethard, 2009). The first formal form of government assistance was carried out when the Financial Treasury provided AIG with $40 billion from TARP (Trouble Asset Relief Program) funds. TARP was an initiated by George W Bush during the 2008 financial crisis on 3rd October 2008. It was signed into law for the government to buy toxic assets and equity reserves from different financial institutions to bolster the financial sector ultimately. TARP was regulated under the SSFI (Systemically Significant Financial Institution Program), and AIG was the only beneficiary of the funds under it. • 10. Lab Report Of Freezing Point Of Cyclohexanol Jacob Winter Chem 101 103 11/7/16 Freezing Point Depression Introduction: The purpose of this lab experiment is to calculate the change in the freezing point of cyclohexanol and a solution made with cyclohexanol to find the molar mass of the unknown solute. The colligative properties of solutions are based on the concentration of molecules rather than the identity of the chemical. Freezing point, a colligative property of a solution, is constant in any substance and does not rely on the amount given. For any solution composted of two or more components, there is one solvent and one or more solutes. The major amount is the solvent and the minor amounts are the solutes. When solutes are dissolved in solvents, the solution s freezing point is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be accounted for in the sample of cyclohexanol. The experiment must have had a contaminated sample of cyclohexanol, rather than a pure sample. This accounts for the difference in the experimental values and the actual values. Conclusion: By demonstrating the application of a colligative property of a solution, the change in freezing point observed between the cyclohexanol and the solution with the cyclohexanol as the solvent can be used to calculate the unknown solute s molar mass. The data in the lab was graphed and shown in the cooling curve. Bases off the data on the graph, the freezing points are shown where the temperature remains constant. Using the freezing points, the difference of freezing point was calculated. The molality of solution was calculated in the lab using the molar mass of the unknown solution from the given previous data. The data in the lab showed the molar mass of the unknown solute to be off from the given molar mass in the lab. This can be explained through contamination. Theoretically, it was learned that by calculating the freezing point of an unknown substance, it can be identified. The lab showed important techniques in using a graph ... • 11. Cure of the Streets The poet Rainer Maria Rilke says that a work of art is good if it has sprung from necessity (Farley). Hip Hop was born on the poor and dangerous streets of the USA. Minorities such as African Americans and Hispanics dominated these streets, and they felt the need to address their long standing common issues. Therefore, a new form of art, hip hop was born, and became the method of self expression for these minorities. Lyrics have presented what they have been through. While rap has turned from a tool of self expression to a multi billion dollar industry, it has continued to constructively affect the social and economic structure of the society. While serving as a good alternative to the streets, hip hop positively uplifts the cultural barriers within the society and educates the youth. In order to better understand the necessity and the influence of hip hop, the history of how and where this music emerged is highly important. A Survival Plan for the Wild Cyborg article by Rinie Van Est is an excellent article focusing on how technology has developed and adapted towards human s lifestyles. As technology becomes increasingly advanced humans are becoming less human. Relationships are being destroyed by obsessive internet use, children are constantly checking their phones, and society is only caring about what new technology will come out next. When was the last time I saw someone walking in public without a cell phone glued to their hand or ear? As technology takes over, it is time to set boundaries. One idea is that we must freely make our own decisions about our life and ambitions. I believe that the world is beautiful and diverse. It is okay to be different and being unique is better than blending in to feel wanted. We all have a different view on life, what is right, what is wrong, and how to live. We need to let people be themselves and not judge others because of diversity. Also, the acts of loving, caring for, and parenting need to be our priority. When we stop caring less about technology and more for our loved ones we will cherish what is important to us. My children are my world and I want to show them I care by providing love, attention, support, encouragement, and acceptance. The Simple The Better By Wranke Analysis The Simple the Better In a place filled of talented people, Italy was the location in which performance was vital in a rich or important person s life. Wranke s article explains how important it was to have talent, in Italy, during the renaissance. The renaissance is known as the rebirth of painting, sculpting, and almost everything we could possibly think off. During the renaissance, most artist had a common enemy known as the court, which was ruled by the most wealthy and powerful families in Italy. The court was in charge of one s position in society. The author explains his thesis thoroughly, but the reader ends with more questions regarding the situation that performers would have. Adolescence is stressful and confusing to say the least, and is a time in one s life where one begins to discover who they are and what they want as they transition into the adult world. In J.D. Salinger s classic American novel, The Catcher in the Rye, the main character Holden, is a downhearted teenage boy used by Salinger in order to portray universal themes to the reader including isolation, loss of innocence, and the phoniness of the adult world. Through Salinger s use of symbolism, the reader is able to ponder Holden and his struggles as he embarks into adulthood in order to come to a deeper understanding of the themes Salinger s symbols represent. One of the most widely recognized symbols of the book is Holden s curiosity about the ducks in Central Park. Holden longs for answers to his question of where the ducks go in the winter. The ducks. Do you know by any chance? I mean does somebody come around in a truck or something and take them away, or do they fly away by themselves go south or something? (107). As the ice freezes over the pond and winter comes, the ducks leave, able to escape the brutal winter and the ice for a more pleasant, warmer climate to the south. • 17. The Importance Of Giftedness And Talent The researcher observes that the DMGT differentiates between giftedness and talent in which giftedness includes the possession and use of untrained outstanding natural abilities (called gifts), in at least one ability domain, to a degree that places an individual at least among the top 10% of age peers. Besides, It s clear in the figure that the natural abilities of the gifted have three domains; intellectual domain which includes (general intelligence, numerical, verbal...), mental domain which includes (creativity, fluency, leadership...) and physical domain which includes (perceptual, vision, endurance, speed...) (Gagné, 2010). On the other hand, Talent includes the outstanding mastery of developed competencies (knowledge and skills) in at least one field of human activity to a degree that places an individual at least among the top 10% of learning peers. The DMGT shows that when gifted uses his natural abilities to interact with environment through catalysts and development processes, gifted becomes talented with competency. Moreover, the first field of the competency is the academic field which includes language and other fields of life such as technical, science and technology, arts, games and sports (Gagné, 2010). In sum, talent fields are related to subjects, academic activities and scientific applications in different fields of life, including technology. Morality is an important aspect of life and majority of our actions are dependent on doing what is moral or immoral. Moral relativism is the theory that defines whether an action is considered moral or immoral. There are two forms of moral relativism, cultural relativism and individual relativism, which are two theories about the morality of our actions. The two theories of moral relativism provide a reasoning for the justification of moral or immoral actions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One criticism of cultural relativism is that it would not be acceptable to say that another society s customs are inferior to our own. If morality is based on a culture s rules, it would be hypocritical to tell another culture that what they are doing is wrong. It cannot be acceptable for one culture to consider their own culture superior by believing that their set of rules is the true guidance for morality. I believe this criticism raises an important issue. Since morality is constituted by different rules for different cultures, there is no way of knowing what they ultimate truth is about what actions are considered moral or immoral if one thing can be considered good in one society, but bad in another. Individual relativism has also been challenged because it states the idea that the morality of our actions can be determined by our own thoughts and intuitions. • 23. An Aesthetic Experience To have an aesthetic experience there are two criteria that need to be met. The first is paying close attention to intrinsic features. The second is that the object we focus on must be viewed as worthy of our attention. An example from the book of an object being viewed as valuable is on page 58. Young children will pick weeds and think they are just as beautiful as flowers because they do not see a difference. As they get older they begin to see what is held at a higher value in society (p.58). I see this at work when children bring me grass or rocks to hold onto because they see them as special. Most of the girls only pick things with color, so they can kind of tell the difference. During the spring one of our teachers was admiring a large bloom on the hydrangea bush. An older student then decided to pick it and bring it to the teacher. This upset the teacher because that flower was not meant for the kids to pick, but this shows how children understand and copy the ideas of adults. From the book I learned that the most common way of assessing a child s maturity level in the 1940 s was to look at how well they could draw a picture of a person (p.58). I can see this as a realistic way of assessing young students. However, as you get older I don t think this would work as well. • 26. Analysis Of William Tennyson s Lord Of The Flies After careful analyzation, the title is what it was thought to be. Initially when reading the title, it gives off the impression that something will break or will already be broken. This is clear in the poem after reading as the speaker and his emotional state are hurt due to the loss of a loved one. The speaker s life, and emotional mind is broken for he cannot express himself due to his loss. In this way, the title is deemed fit and gives further insight as it shows clearly now that the speaker is truly broken. When the speaker is compared next to Tennyson s life, one can make several parallels. For example, The vanish d hand and the voice are likely the speaker s loved one who has passed away. Thus, the speaker cannot seem to find happiness anymore as life seems to keep moving as he stays remorsing about the past s tragic incident. Tennyson lost his father and best friend within the length of two years, which led him to write this piece. He puts his same emotions into this as he too did not know how to cope with the losses at hand. Similarly, he was surrounded by life moving on, being full of happiness, as he slunk down and carried the burden of remembering his loved ones. Hence, he truly felt at one point that the tender days would never make a return in his life. Altogether, the themes of this poem are clearly death and coping with it as the speaker fails to do so. This can be attributed to the problem that life will always continue on, not waiting for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
