Essay about The Autobiography of Malcolm X
The Autobiography of Malcolm X The Autobiography of Malcolm X is the story of Malcolm X, an
African American male growing up in the United States in the mid 1900 s. At this time in America
prejudice and segregation were widespread and much a part of everyday life. Malcolm takes the
reader through his experiences with American society, which rejects him. This rejection, along with
the inferiority cast upon all Black Americans, forces these males to search for acceptance. They are
forced to search for purpose in causes greater than single individuals. As the book shows, this is
evident in Malcolm throughout his life and in the life of other African American males. The
Autobiography shows how during this time in American history ... Show more content on

This unit was exactly the further acceptance Malcolm, and all rejected males, looked for at this time in
American history. With Malcolm s imprisonment ended the acceptance of the ghetto hustler and
gangster life. In prison Malcolm had to find a new place to turn for acceptance. As his father did,
Malcolm turned to religion. The religion he turned to, The Nation of Islam or more commonly known
as the Black Muslims, were a group of African Americans who believed, among other things, that
whites were the roots of evil. Malcolm became immersed in his religion. It seeped into every part of
his life. For the next years I was the nearest thing to a hermit in the Norfolk Prison Colony. I have
never been more busy in my life (173). Malcolm wrote many letters to family and friends about his
new found faith and , most importantly, he found the acceptance he longed for with the teachings of
Mr. Muhammad. This acceptance gave him purpose and after his release Malcolm became one of the
foremost representatives of the Nation of Islam. After Malcolm separated from the Nation of Islam,
part by choice but part by force, he had to turn elsewhere for the acceptance and purpose, which all
African American males needed at this time. With his national prominence he formed a new
organization. This organization would be the last place he found acceptance because of his untimely
death. His organization, the Muslim Mosque Inc., he

Textual Analysis Of New Slaves By Kanye West
Slaves are people who are forced to perform a specific task, and are bound to something. The behavior
of consumers because of the capitalistic qualities of corporations has transitioned that terminology
onto consumers in modern society. New Slaves exposes the consumer culture concerning
commodities. I will employ a textual analysis to analyze New Slaves to argue that through its
characterization of consumer society, the tactics of corporations to maintain the control of consumers
is the result of class ideologies. Kanye West uses New Slaves to reveal what the African American
community have become due to the high consumption of commodities. The term New Slave can be
defined as someone who is enslaved to a commodity. By employing a ... Show more content on

West said, Fuck you and your corporation y all niggas can t control me. The combative and belligerent
tone that Kanye expressed opens up his attitude toward the overall production quantities and retail
prices that companies produces. Corporations such as Nike, releases models that are tagged exclusive,
which deems them as nearly impossible to get because of the extremely limited quantities that are
produced. Nike would make you believe it was my fault that you couldn t get them, but that was not
the case. I wanted there to be as many Yeezys as there was LeBrons, and I wanted them to be at a good
price, but that was not my choice (Rosen, Kanye Slams Nike, Says Company Head Let Go Of Culture
). West s creative, and production freedom was controlled, and manipulated by Nike to broadcast to
the public that he was in fact the reason why his shoes were extremely difficult to find. Companies are
aware of how to gain the control, and attention of consumer s. They conduct this by attaching names
of famous designer s such as Kanye to models, for instance the Yeezys. The name of the product
carries a huge weight of meaning to the consumer, where as though they will take part in savagery
actions to obtain the shoe, and the companies take notice of these actions, and in turn raise the price of
models that are highly regarded. Corporations use that ideal to keep the favored names of consumer

* The Influence of Essentialst Attitudes Portrayed in the Modern Day Sitcom on the Views and Beliefs
of Modern Society.
Throughout its long history, the sitcom has been commonly understood to define the cultural norms of
modern society through such comedy techniques as satire and irony. Like modern society, certain
characteristics of the sitcom have evolved over time, while others have remained consistent. The
evolution of the sitcom coincides with the generational shift in attitudes of society towards certain
beliefs and values. So, it would seem that there must be some sort of correlation between the evolution
of the sitcom and that of society, as if one is the cause of the other. * * While this can be safely said

Recent sitcoms have challenged and broadened the idea of traditional stereotypes. For example,
Gencarella (2005,394) argues that the four main characters of Seinfeld represent four distinct political
stereotypes: the individualist, the hierarchical, the egalitarian, and the fatalist. The way these political
stereotypes interact with each other and their community have no doubt contributed to the comicality
and thus the success of the show. *
Unlike the 2005 sit com The Office (American version), Seinfeld does not consistently display
essentialist traits in its characters. It conveys essentialist themes through satirical situations involving
essentialism. This is none more evident than the following example ( The Yada Yada ), which
Gencarella (2005,398) also uses to describe the egalitarian nature of Kramer:
* Jerry: Those people can be so touchy. * Kramer: Those people. Listen to yourself. * Jerry: What? *
Kramer: You think that dentists are so different from me and you? * They come to this country just
like everybody else in search of a dream! * Jerry: Kramer, he s just a dentist. * Kramer: Yeah, and you

The Bay Of Pigs
The Bay of Pigs was an attempted invasion that occurred on the south coast of Cuba. While
researching this occurrence, it seems that it was a failed attempt to invade communist Cuba. This
invasion was to overthrow the communist leader, Fidel Castro, had power in office until the year 2008.
The main reason for the failure, many believe, is because of the Central Intelligence Agency, under the
power of the young President John F. Kennedy (Bay of Pigs 378). The purpose of this research paper
is to review the events of what was supposed to happen, opposed to what actually took place.

At first, the United States accepted this new form of government as a relief from Batista s way of
governing Cuba. Castro soon started making harsh decisions while in office. He announced his
decision to form into Marxism Leninism, which scared the United States (Goode Stephen). Cuba then
started strengthening its military by forming alliances with other countries and investing in upgrading
their military equipment. Fidel Castro took great pride in his military abilities, he expanded his army
to 400,000 soldiers. This size of army was about ten times as much as what Batista had it at. Kennedy
s cabinet was frightened by this. Because of the extensive military, What was Castro planning to do?
they asked themselves. This made Cuba, and its alliances, at top priority for the CIA (Goode Stephan).
About six mots before the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Cuban Minister told the leaders at the United
Nations meeting that he was aware of plans of the invasion. He then stated that he knew the United
Stated CIA was behind the attack. They figured out this information from various media networks that
were informed about the invasion by the CIA being careless about where and who they were revealing

Black Death Dbq
Prior to the 14th century, the Crusades were dominating the political system of Europe. However, the
new era paved the way for a new political conflict, the Hundred Year War (1337 1453). At the center
of every war is always the dispute over territories, and it was no different in the Hundred Years War.
The conflict over territories was based on who held the legitimate rights to the French throne.
Unfortunately solving the conflict was difficult because of medieval legality which stated that one
king could be the vassal of another king if the first inherited land outside his own kingdom. Such was
the case for Edward III of England who was also the Duke of Guyenne in France and thus he felt
entitled to the French throne. In spite of this, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Millions of people suffered a painful death because the plague had no cure. This would eventually
lead to a rapid and devastating decrease in the population. The plague s symptoms were tumorous
outgrowth at the roots of the thigh and arms and simultaneously bleeding ulcerations. Initially, it was
said that the plague began in China and traveled along a well known trade route and found its way to
place like Cairo, Florence, and England. What makes the Black Death a tragedy was how unequipped
the society was to handle the outbreak. Symptoms were a mystery, and doctors would often give into
performing dangerous and unsanitary procedures on patients. Unfortunately, Paris was the hardest city
hit and more than half the population died, mainly the children and poor. In other parts like east
Normandy, an alleged 70 to 80 percent of the population perished. The plague also affected those who
were not sick, families had to separate from their sick loved one, and in Florence people had their
clothing and jewelry regulated. A lack of understanding about the plagued created distress amongst the
society. In fact, people believed the plague was a divine punishment because of their sins and the only
way to end the sickness was asking for God s forgiveness. Rumors also placed the blame on the
Jewish community, and thousands of Jews were massacred. In the end, the plague affected everyone,

Research Paper On The Parthenon
The Parthenon is easily one of the most recognizable architectural landmarks in Greece. Resting on a
hill known as Acropolis located in Athens, the Parthenon has stood since the fifth century B.C. Even
though most of it was destroyed in 1687 when Venice rampaged throughout. Before that however, the
Parthenon served as not only a temple but a national symbol and artistic masterpiece as well (Spirko,
Synonym).
Parthenon translates to the virgin s place in Greek. The Parthenon was built for the virgin goddess
Athena and every four years there would be a parade like celebration to honor her. This was the main
purpose of building such a place. According to Ancient Greece.org the Parthenon represents the

Should Americans Be Required For Learn Spanish As A Second...
Language is power. If you cannot understand or be understood you have no power. You are at the
mercy of everyone. (Rudat, 1994, Stow, Dodd 356) Should Americans be required to learn Spanish as
a second language? The construction of our nation stands on documents written in English, however
English is not our official language nor has it ever been. America is a melting pot in which English is
the most prominent language, followed closely by Spanish. Requiring Americans to learn Spanish is a
great controversy; I strongly believe that it should be a requirement, because it improves academic
achievements, career success, and cultural and social understanding. The controversy has great
counter arguments such as the double standard Americans are held to, and further division of the
country. Regarding the counterarguments, I still firmly believe that it should be a requirement because
the integration of a second language in our schools is more beneficial to our country s success as a
whole. First and foremost, the promotion of bilingualism in American school systems would greatly
increase academic achievements. According to Huffington Post, the United States of America falls to
number seventeen on the list of countries with the best education; Finland, South Korea and Hong
Kong lead the list for higher education. (Zhao) Outside of school Finnish children speak
predominantly Finnish in their homes, however when they come to school they are taught specifically

Stereotypes Of Professional Athletes
Competitive and professional sports is a cardinal fixture in the lives of billions all across the globe.
Sport is cherished and idolized by many as it gives the viewers loads of entertainment as well as a
sense of pride. Sport has the ability to unite entire nations as there is a mutual sentiment attached to
the desire of wanting your team to outperform the rest, it is all based on the notion that an athlete or
team is representing you as an individual and an entire country. Professional athletes often have a
certain stigma attached to them they make tons of money, drive exotic sports cars, live in fancy
houses, travel all over the world, they have achieved this by doing what they love day in and day out
by playing sport.
This flamboyant stereotype also represents athletes at an amateur level. The high school / university
superstar athletes are seen as broad and aesthetic leaders who get all the attention from peers and most
of the time they are role models to aspiring younger athletes. However, the vast majority of people do
not see what is unfolding behind the scenes for these athletes. There is a darker side of the spectrum
that shouldn t be ignored. The early mornings of training, the strict dietary requirements, the endless
hours in the gym and the 100% dedication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Theory Behind Absolute Advantage
Over many years there has been many conceptual theories devised to help explain the reasons why
there is trade within the world accompanied by the possibilities that gains could or could not be made.
This piece of work will examine four main theories put forward by Adam Smith (Absolute advantage,
1776) which was then expanded on by David Ricardo with his theory of the Ricardian Model
(Comparative advantage, 1817). Also including the Heckscher Ohlin model (relative factor
abundance, 1919, 1933) and the ideas of New Trade Theory (Economies of Scale and Imperfect
Competition). These ideas will be evaluated and synthesised to see if these explanations truly explain
the reasons of trade theory.
Absolute advantage was an idea suggest by Adam Smith in 1817. The theory behind absolute
advantage suggests that if a country is highly skilled and efficient in producing a certain good with the
fewer resources, then it is believed that a specific country has an absolute advantage in the production
of that good (Sloman Garratt, 2013). However Absolute advantage can only occur if the country using
its resources for a specific good/service does so efficiently otherwise no gains are made from trading.
Although it can be argued that the idea of Absolute advantage does not particularly make much sense
in explaining trade patterns. As said in Feenstra s and Taylors book, Absolute advantage does not
particularly help to explain the case of why the US imports snowboards from places like China

experiment this semester and so are the other groups in this session they will be the first to do their
assigned experiments. For that reason, I think it will be a little difficult to figure what we are suppose
to do in lab and get comfortable doing the experiment even though we did all the preparation for it.

I think it will be a little difficult to write about a technical experiment in a non technical way, which is
actually one of the purposes of writing this report. Although I don t know the difference between a non
technical and a a technical report writing, I think I will learn the difference between these two through
writing this report and following the instructions.
The way of writing this report will be a bit different but not as hard be as the research background and
theories we had to do before conducting our experiment. The notes and data taken during the
experiment will help writing this report and come up with conclusions. However, something I might
found difficult is discussing the results and relating them to our daily life.

purpose of this experiment is to measure the pressure drop, which was the gauge pressure not the

Once the law is set or made there must be a force to compel obedience from subjects of that law.
Karma law is a conception or an idea developed by founders of Hinduism, presumably by the Aryans
and may have been later adopted by reformers like Sri Krishna and Buddha, who passed on this idea
to their followers. Although Karma laws are associated with a set of moral values and ethical
conducts, no one is compelled to follow and practice such values and ethics because there is no

To enforce means, to encourage subjects to follow these laws in return for rewards or to discourage
would be criminals from breaking the law through threats of punishments. To implement any law there
must be a mechanism of enforcement. To say that a law can act on its own is an implausible
proposition.
In fact, man made laws could not be implemented without the involvement of enforcement bodies like
the police force, prosecutors, judges and courts of laws. For instance, in any country there are laws
enacted to prevent stealing, an act which is pernicious and could cause disorder to social life.
Punishments appropriated by law for acts of stealing could be a fine, caning or

Reformation of the Church
In sixteenth century Europe, the revival for Roman Catholicism took place. This reformation in the
Church is significantly important as it was during these times when Europe was all but mired by
Protestant movements. This revival has often been referred to as the Catholic Counter reformation, as
a response against the Protestant Reformation. Christian humanism found expression, putting
emphasis even on the pagan culture and philosophy. Controversies with the Protestants also gave way
to the revival of scholasticism, giving way to a reformed papacy with its emphasis on spiritual life and
service for the people. Such a papacy commanded respect from the Catholics as well as affirmed the
validity of the Church s teachings.
The Catholic Reformation was a rediscovery of the living Tradition. More than a counter reformation,
it was a process of development, not so much as a defense against Protestantism. The mission of such
movement was not directed towards an enemy, but undertaken due to an unwavering loyalty to God
(Daniel Rops, 1964) At the height of the Protestant Reformation, religious dissatisfaction had
culminated, prompting attacks against the Church. However, after less than half a century, the fervor
that came with the Reformation had subsided. The masses were especially feeling, in a way, excluded,
seeing the whole movement as esoteric (Simon, 1974). During this time, reforming orders found their
most characteristic expression, assuming responsibility

The Declarative Process Model
to create an infographic with the keywords Declarative process model . Background information about
this topic The constraint based approach in business process management regards pro cesses not as
imperative, but as declarative models. Traditional process modeling languages work with models of
the imperative approach. Imper ative process modeling defines that processes must be executed
strictly in the course they have been specified, i. e. activities need to be performed in exactly in the
form of the predefined model. Any change in execution or omitting of activities is prohibited by this
means. This is why imperative process model fall into the trap of being over specified sometimes.
However, not all processes need an exact representation of the control flow, such as informal

Essay on Two Part of the United States Reconstruction Era
In the United States history, the Reconstruction Era had two senses. From 1865 to 1877 was the first,
which involved the post Civil War action. The second sense, focused on the transformation of the
Southern United States from 1863 to 1877 with the Congress directing the issue of reconstruction of
state and society ( Reconstruction Era ). Frederick Jackson Turner argued that the frontier was the
chief determinant in American history ( Frederick Jackson Turner ). Both the Reconstruction impact
and Frederick Jackson Turner s thesis play a role in the environment during the Economic Revolution.

Reconstruction had achieved much despite its obvious weaknesses. Schools that were built to provide
education for both blacks and poor whites, the roads constructed, the protection given to life, an

Frederick Jackson Turner had a thesis that also provided the environment for the Economic
Revolution. He thesis accounted for why the people of America and the American government were so
divergent from their European equivalents. There were many people that believed that the frontier s
end symbolized the start of a new stage in American life. These people also believed that America
must expand over seas. There were others that had views of this exposition as the drive for a new
wave in the history of Untied States imperialism (Frontier Thesis).
A man named William Appleman Williams, who led the Wisconsin School of diplomatic historians,
argued that the frontier thesis encouraged American expansion overseas. Williams had viewed Turner
s frontier thesis as a way to influence action against totalitarianism, advocate democracy through both
of the world wars, and affirm the spending on foreign aid. However, Frederick Jackson Turner s thesis,
in comparison to Theodore Roosevelt s work, The Winning of the West, a greater emphasis was placed
not on territorial subjugation, but on the evolution of American republicanism (Frontier Thesis).

stones arranged in a circle, surrounded by an earthen embarkment which is also in a circular
formation.

Also, Stonehenge is made up of two stones. Those two stones are sarsen and bluestones. The sarsen
weigh an average of twenty five tons. The bluestones weigh between two to five tons. These stones
were transported from two sites Marlborough Downs and the Preseli Hills area in West Wales. Yet, no
one knows how they got there, or who brought them there and built Stonehenge. Mankind as a whole,
is still uncertain as to what Stonehenge really is. There are many unanswered questions on the
mysterious Stonehenge. Millions of people visit Stonehenge every year to see the wonderful site. I
think Stonehenge is a beautiful site full of mysteries. It would be a great place to visit someday. My
theory is that Stonehenge could have had something to do with multiple things. It could have been
used for multiple purposes. For example, it could have been used as a burial site, memorial,
astronomical clock, and place of worship all in one. Since, there is a little of evidence behind most of
the theories, Stonehenge could have been used for plenty of

The Battle Of Saint Mihiel
World War I Marc A. Lungo, Adam W. Delano, Christopher J. Snyder Air Defense Artillery Advanced
Leaders Course World War I The battle of Saint Mihiel was a pivotal point in the many conflicts the
United States was involved in during World War I. In this essay, the role of the Non Commissioned
Officers, along with the invention of the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Air Gun, is shown to be an incredible
advantage for the United States. The need for a weapon that is mobile, as well as perform a much
needed defensive service, presented the opportunity to create the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Aircraft Gun. The
3 Inch M1918 AA gun is a derivative of the 3 Inch M1898 that is too large to be feasibly mobile
(Ordnance, T.O, 1920). While this gun cannot be fired while being towed behind a vehicle, it is
transportable enough to move to an area that needs protection from the ever growing aircraft attack
threat. This variation has a design of a smaller breach that fired a cartridge of 76.2x585R, allowing a
breach that will automatically open after the firing of each cartridge (Ordnance, T. O, 1920). This was
an innovative concept that allows the firing of multiple rounds at a greater rate to help with the
adjustment needed when firing at an aircraft traveling at a high velocity, attitude, and altitude. The
muzzle velocity of this weapon firing a 15 pound shell, with either shrapnel or explosive charge, is
2,400 feet per second (Ordnance, T.O, 1920). The maximum

How Did The Enlightenment Affect The American Revolution
Effect of The Enlightenment on The American Revolution The Age of Enlightenment, also known as
the Age of Reason, is a time where philosophers began to believe that all problems could be solved
with logic, rather than ancient mythical beliefs. Through books, pamphlets, and debates in coffee
houses, the Enlightenment brought optimism and possibility. The advent of these ideas were new,
alarming, and quickly spread.. The Age of Enlightenment prompted the uprising that lead to the
American Revolution and many Enlightenment ideas were applied in the formation of the American
government. Before and During the Age of Enlightenment, many countries were ruled by absolute

Essay on Low Carbohydrate Versus Low Fat Diets
The purpose of this essay is to compare Low carb and Low Fat diets and examine their similarities and
differences. Two studies in the New England Journal of Medicine provide evidence that in the short
term, a low carbohydrate diet helped people lose weight without any adverse effects. In the last
decade, several leading nutritional scientists have taken the side effects into consideration. They have
begun to think that the low carb diet may be partly right about losing weight, and scientists are now
finally studying whether low fat diets really work. However, many people still question the low
carbohydrate diet s long term effectiveness and choose to stick to the traditional low fat diet. In the

And therefore, the fat does not get burnt off and there is no weight lost. On the other hand, in the long
term, most nutritional experts are wary of the low carbohydrate diet s recommendations because of the
dramatic, and possibly hazardous, changes the diet can have on the body. Among the many concerns
are possible vitamin deficiencies, dehydration, gastrointestinal problems, and kidney, heart and
gallbladder disease. Some short term benefits from a low fat diet have been documented, but similarly
to the low carb diet, none have held up long term. In the short term people lower their cholesterol by
eating less fatty foods. It was subsequently shown that saturated fats, as well as dietary cholesterol,
elevate plasma total and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol by down regulating the LDL
receptors in the liver. There is little doubt that Americans have improved their health by lowering their
dietary intake of fat. Low fat diets are often advocated for weight reduction and to lower the risk of
coronary heart disease and certain forms of cancer. However in the short term, there is no universal
agreement about the value of low fat diets, because over time most people seem to gain the weight
back. In the long term, there have been several lasting effects of the Low fat diet. First, low fat diets
often cause an inadequate protein intake. Without protein our bodies can t rebuild properly. Low fat
diets also

of this play was in the late 1980s in Little Italy, New York. In this play, the characters makeup was a
little different from the actors of the first play I watched, Anna in the Tropics. Instead of their faces
being plain and simple, these actors had more color to their face, especially for the females. The males
had average natural makeup where the females had some fun playing with addition colors. The
character Teresa had wore a thin liner with extremely dark brows and a nice red lip color. As for Aunt

Essay about Hawaiian Volcanoes
I. Summary
This paper will provide information on the volcanoes of Hawaii, where it is known to be the home of
one of the world s largest volcanic islands, merely second to Iceland. It is not just the beautiful
landscapes and wildlife that spark the interest to this particular area, but the uniqueness of the
Hawaiian volcanoes and islands themselves are what make the area so significant. There will be
information spanning from the history of the origin of the islands to how Hawaii must adjust to the
volcanic hazards in order to keep the area livable. With these ideas in mind, I will first address
background information on the area and set the scene as to what makes this area so special. Then I will
transition to the history of how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the key fact that makes the islands of Hawaii so unique and worthy of studying is that
nearly the entire mountain range is built entirely by volcanic activity and each island is the top of an
enormous volcanic mountain. These exceptional qualities fuel the study of how the islands themselves
were created, in order to answer the curiosities behind the composition of some of the most
extravagant volcanoes in the world.
III. History of the Hawaiian Islands
The basic theory of plate tectonics says that all volcanic activity should occur between lithosphere
plates (Physical Geology). However, the Hawaiian Islands bend this rule by being located directly in
the middle of the Pacific plate. The Hawaiian volcanoes are known as intraplate volcanoes. This may
not seem possible because it disrupts the rule of plate tectonics, but there s the exception of a hot spot.
T. Wilson suggested that the Pacific plate moved in the northwestward direction over a melting spot
deep within the mantle, and this hot spot remained relatively stationary and supplied magma to the
moving Pacific plate to form the Hawaiian Island chain (Volcanoes in the Sea). In order to prove this
suggestion, the structure of the Hawaiian Islands must be in line with a hot spot origin. This will be

Analysis Of Kobitar Khoje s Goal
Kobitar Khoje s goal is to encourage and motivate young poets through releasing a solo album of their
poems by an eminent recitation Artist. The event will patronize these poetry enthusiasts by offering
them big platform and canvas, simultaneously the opportunity to record their recitation poem and
publish in CD along with publishing a souvenir with your biographic information. This will be a
bridge between young poets and eminent poets. The criteria of poems will be Love, creation, rebel,
independence and native.
Such kind of first ever opportunity will give young poets to flourish their skill and make them feel
deep magnetism on the writing art that profoundly affected their poems. Nowadays, the practice of
poem writing is becoming increasingly popular day by day. There are lots of young and energetic
poem writers in and around the Bangladesh. But, they do not have platform and canvas for blooming
their skills. So, they might be loose their hope and faith on writing motivation. In this circumstance,
Kobitar Khoje s initiative may bring betterment in the cultural ecosystem in Bangladesh. We see that
all the poem recitation CD albums are released with the poetry of famous poets. This time, we are
working to promote the young and new poets to encourage them in their writes. The poems should be

ABSTRACT
Process control vendors are migrating their plant control technologies to more open network and
operating environments such as Unix, Linux, Windows, Ethernet, and the Internet Protocol. Migrating
plant controls to open network and operating environments exposes all layers of the computing

Compartmentalization is a technique used to segment network space to better control access and
isolate risk of exposure. A variety of security products can be layered into compartments to address
examination, detection, prevention, and encryption requirements.
LAYERED SECURITY MODEL
A layered security model incorporates security products and best practices in all layers of a computing
environment. Layered security exponentially increases the cost and difficulty of penetration for an
attacker by combining different security products to create a defensive barrier much stronger than the
individual components. Thus, layered security decreases the likelihood that the attacker will pursue an
organization (2).
Computing environments are comprised of networks, operating systems, applications, and databases
(Figure 1). Information security, as a practice, focuses on securing an organizations most important
asset its data. When you consider that data is the basic underlying component that organizations strive
to develop, store, and protect, then an organization should implement a security model that focuses on
providing multiple layers of resistance to that data.
There are four basic security functions that should be implemented in a complimentary manner to
secure each layer of a computing environment: examination,

Analysis Of A Sound Of Thunder

Mrs. Kelley Weakely
Honors English
Period 5
9/30/15
The Coward s way A Sound of Thunder (Ray Bradbury) and The Lottery (Shirley Jackson) are both
connected through a specific quality that characters in both stories contain. That quality is the inability
to make good decisions. When faced with alarming or stressful situations, Eckels, Travis, and the
townsfolk in the lottery, make bad decisions. The townsfolk blunder through their life, blindly
following the unjust tradition to stone someone to death each year. Eckels and Travis are both
cowards, and cowards tend to make bad decisions because they are selfish. Both stories are connected
by these cowardly people that make bad decisions. The lottery townsfolk are put under pressure by not
a person, but by tradition. Tradition makes them scared, and fear blinds people. Traditions can have
many beginnings, but ones such as this, with no positive result, are simply a terrible decision.
However, the townsfolk believe in tradition, and this pressures them into going along with this
horrible idea. When Mrs. Hutchinson is chosen, she also makes a bad decision. Fear can cause denial,
which, in Mrs. Hutchinson s case, can lead to your death. Instead of turning tail and running from her
fate, she stands and lets the other townsfolk surround her, simply saying, It isn t fair, it isn t right, (The
Lottery). Then simply letting the other townsfolk kill her

California Gold Rush Of 1849
California would not be the same as we see it today if it was not for the California Gold Rush of 1849.
Around one hundred fifty thousand migrated to this territory over the course of three years, being one
of the world s largest migrations in history. The wealth gained by the Forty Niner s in this era provided
the opportunity for the creation of the economic powerhouse we see California as today. The
California Gold Rush is a very complex topic to understand. There is a common misconception of it
simply being a time of profit or loss by miners digging for gold. When instead, the Gold Rush was a
time when Gold Fever was a common sickness of people around the world, people of all ages and
color striving to meet their dreams of success and fortune. This migration of miners is best understood
when California s history before the Gold Rush, the chaos over land ownership and lack of authority,
and its short term and long term impacts are extensively analyzed (4). Before the start of the Gold
Rush in 1849, California was a Mexican territory. It is Key to note (for later understanding of the
issues concerning land ownership and makeshift law within the gold mining districts) that the Gold
Rush was not a factor of concern for neither country within the Mexican War. The Mexican War was
sparked by the increasingly hostile territorial disputes between Mexico and the, at the time, Republic
of Texas. These territorial disputes of regions within California led to the United States

My Experience With Real Estate And The Mortgage Crisis
My experience with real estate and the mortgage meltdown is very personal. The beginning of the
crisis happened around 2007 when I was in the 8th grade. Eighth grade was the year that my middle
school offered a trip to students to go to Washington D.C. and New York City. As a history buff and all
around lover of traveling to new places, I was excited to be able to go on this trip. No one in my
family had ever been that far across the United States and I was determined to be the first one. Not
only was I offered the opportunity to travel, something that I did not often do, but also the chance to
visit two places full of history and wonder.
My prospect of going on the trip of lifetime was halted by the real estate and mortgage crisis. This was
because my father is a construction worker.
My father works for a construction company that builds frames. How I describe this to others is: he
creates the skeleton for houses and without him, houses cannot become homes. When the housing
market crisis happened, my father s company lost customers and jobs. No one needed framers
anymore. No one was buying houses because no one could afford them and some were being
foreclosed on. The company lost business and had to layoff employees because the world was in
economic turmoil. My Dad stopped receiving bonuses that would pay for our Christmas presents, our
family trips, and would be home more often because there just wasn t any work.
This was a depressing time for my entire family but we

they have created some of the largest and most profitable companies in the technology world. Without

Theories Of Existentialism In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
In the novel The Road by Cormac McCarthy, the theory of Existentialism can be easily seen through
various key components. Existentialism is a philosophy that accentuates an individual s existence as a
free being who is entirely responsible for the choices they make. It questions the human existence and
whether there is any purpose of living; it is a notion that declares that an individual must define their
own meaning in life and attempt to make rational decisions while existing in an irrational universe
(Crowell). Such existential concepts are showcased throughout the book as an unnamed father and son
travel across the United States where an unclear cataclysm has occurred destroying almost all life on
Earth. They are striving to survive in this world where murder, cannibalism and sex slavery have
become the norm. They are faced with inhumane situations and barbaric people, forcing them to make
crucial decisions. It is understandable that the father and the boy are undergoing an existential crisis
when being placed in this post apocalyptic world where they attempt to fulfill their ultimate goal of
reaching safety by abiding by their morals and depending on their hope while questioning their faith in
God. The boy and the father have strong morals demonstrating a high level of authenticity, especially
in a world where morality is extremely uncommon. To be authentic means to genuinely be yourself.
Although, as presented by Existentialism, one cannot be their true self until one has defined
themselves. First, one must create their authentic selves, then they must live according to that (Varga).
The father and the boy have strong principles to do what is right, even when their fellow survivors
have completely abandoned morality altogether. At times, the father struggles with following said
principles, however, he then justifies his actions which are purely for the safety of his son. This
depicts that the father will do anything and everything to assure that the boy lives. The father
expresses that He knew only that the child was his warrant. He said: If he is not the word of God God
never spoke (5). When a man holds a knife to the son s neck, the father does not hesitate to kill him.

After the calculations you end up coming out with a rate of 14.87%. The third and final part of
question three asks what rate you will need if the interest is compounded semiannually. All you have
to do is double the amount of terms and you will come out with a lower number of 7.177%. Since the
interest is compounded semiannually that means that you will need to times that number by two and
you come out with your final number of 14.35%.
In question four, Janet was asked to solve a question that deals with annuity payments, specifically,
ordinary annuities. It starts by asking of how much you will make if you add $2,000 every year and it
is compounded by 10% interest every year. These, for the most part, are future value problems. The
first one comes out to be a future value of $12,210.20, which does not satisfy the need for $20,000.
The next part asks what the value would be if the interest was compounded semiannually. You have to

The Importance Of A Career
There are many decisions an individual has to make in life, and choosing a career is one of the most
important decisions he or she can make. Many people struggle with choosing one because of various
factors that must be considered before embarking on a career path. Knowledge of self is important
because, in order to successfully choose a correct path in life, it is important for the person to know
themselves and align their personalities and abilities to what they choose to do. Individuals must set
goals for themselves in terms of what they want out of their education and career so that they can
make informed decisions pertaining to their lives. Plans must be carefully made if people want a
successful career that they feel fulfilled with. My client, Randy, has been through a process of learning
about himself, has goals that have been, and will be, fulfilled, and has set clear plans on what he wants
out of his career. Randy is a successful athletic trainer because he has taken the time to plan his life
out and find a job that best matches his personality and goals.
Self Knowledge Goal A keen understanding of self is important in any important decision, as someone
must know themselves to understand what they want out of life. Self knowledge means understanding
self, including what the person is interested in, values, likes and dislikes, and where one s priorities
lie. In the interview, Randy seemed to go through a process in which he found out about himself

The causes of court delays in Malta are attributable to...
Court delays had already existed during the British Colonial period and while some delays are
considered as necessary, many people consider these delays as totally unacceptable. Numerous articles
are found online or on newspapers with regard to this issue and some people argue that the prolonging
of court delays is in breach of the fundamental right to a fair hearing in a reasonable time. These
delays relate to a variety of factors which to a certain extent are attributable to the procedure adopted
in the court. However, other factors such as the legal history, culture and social relations should also
be taken into consideration. During the Colonial period, the Maltese had resisted legal and judicial
interventions by the British authorities and this seems to affect the way we see the lawyer s
professional role today. At this point in time delays had already existed in civil litigation as the British
Royal Commission (1911) investigated these delays and it was in charge of reforms to the Maltese
judicial procedure. It focused mostly on the schedule followed by the courts for the hearing of cases.
Through these investigations, what emerged was that the system adopted for the hearing of civil cases
seemed to be based on the assumption that instead of a single session in which the case would be tried,
there would be a series of hearings, which could reach thirty or forty over a number of years and
which were usually separated from each other by periods of some three

Analysis Of Sara Content Analysis Approach
6. How were the data then analyzed? What procedures were used? (pgs. 88 89)
The data were analyzed with the SARA content analysis approach. This approach involves constant
comparison, multisource and multipass strategies, and triangulation of data sets for more robust
findings (86). Audiotape recordings, researcher observations and intentional debriefings after each
focus group were used to document the focus group sessions. The researchers constructed themes and
dimensions in an attempt to identify the messages communicated in the focus group sessions. The idea
of multipass strategies is to continue data analysis until no new findings or insights emerge. The focus
of the study using SARA was on the meaning of the experiences in the words of the participants and
not how some researchers use SARA by counting how frequently certain words are used. Validity was
based on the collective results of all focus groups and the saturation of common themes and responses.
The researchers analyzed the data in eight different passes as noted below:
1. Each researcher independently analyzed all of the transcripts, reading carefully and writing down
important information.
2. The researchers collectively discussed the information provided in #1 above and agreed on
commonalities and differences among the individual analysis.
3. Themes (labels) emerged and the researchers developed definitions to describe these themes.

Devil is a biography of the band, Van Halen, from their start as a band with a record label up until the
departure of David Lee Roth, their frontman, in 1985. So far, the book has looked into their start as a
backyard party band in Pasadena, California, with Eddie Van Halen, a master on guitar, his older
brother, Alex Van Halen, the drummer who was the backbone of Eddie s riffs, Michael Anthony, the
bassist who brought a jazzy tone to their songs, and David Lee Roth, the frontman who brought the
California to the band. Back then they were drawing in crowds of at most 300 people. Eventually, they
were discovered by Warner Brothers Records, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eddie had some an impetus that drove him to do better. Eddie was in love with his guitar. Originally
he had bought a drum set while his brother, Alex, bought an electric guitar. Over a summer when
Eddie was delivering newspapers Alex would play his drum set. Eventually, Alex got really good so
he and Eddie swapped instruments. After that, it seemed as if there was never a moment where Eddie
wasn t without his guitar. One of his favorite things to do for hours on end was noodle , which was a
term he used for playing around and making new sounds. One guitar player that really inspired Eddie
was Tony Lommi of Black Sabbath. Van Halen toured England for the first time opening for Black
Sabbath. It wasn t just talent and originality that separated Tony from his heavy metal and hard rock
brethren; it was the backstory. (Monk 111). When Tony was only 17 years old, he lost the tips of both
his ring and middle fingers on his right hand in an industrial accident. Usually, this would be no big
deal because most guitar players only strum with their right hands, but Tony was a left handed guitar
player, so he fretted with his right and strummed with his left. This really inspired Eddie especially
after Tony removed his prosthetics to show him the missing tips. Most people would usually give up
and abandon their dreams if something like that ever were to happen to them. Eddie in many ways will
always be known as one of the most inspiring guitar players in the world, but inspirational people
have others who they look up to as

Bob Fosse s Dance
The music changes now as the musicians start to play a march. The dancers then remove the flower
from their hats pull their hats down low to resemble a soldiers headwear. In addition, they turn their
canes upside down holding them as if they were guns and start marching off stage. Simultaneously, the
lights turn dark blue on stage and the dancers faces turn serious. Their once extravagant and
lighthearted movement is now stiff and somewhat serious. The audience however, laughs at this shift
in theme. All the dancers march off stage except the center girl, she continues to march in a circle
making faces and poking fun at the others. Finally, she leaves the stage laughing loudly and
dramatically at herself. She comes on one more time only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Those created by John Tiller and the other created by Laurence Tiller. Elswit explains that even though
the groups were led by different people they both wanted to produce the same outcome, unison. The
signature synchronization became a potent image of Weimar visual culture (Elswit, 51). Fosse s
choreography was primarily based on the principle of unison within this piece. Elswit argues that the
group was created as a way of responding to the industrialization of America. The girls were often
mistaken for being an American group because of this aspect. As a result the choreographic elements
were inspired by the creation of factories. Fosse s choreography was inspired by these events as he
adhered strict machine like formations of dancers within the piece. Each formation was linear and
showed order. Elswit also says that the use of the term Girls to refer to female dancers (Elswit, 52),
was also selected in order to exaggerate the rise of mass produced products for them to buy (Elswit,
52). Elswitt sheds light onto the reasoning behind Fosse s decisions in relation to

Political Change Research Paper
Individuals in the American society affect Political change: Citizen communication is the prime way
in which the American society communicates its necessities and demands to the government and
foresees the government to be responsive. How do we as a society impact America s political change?
It is imperative that as one large community of 300 million, we know exactly just how we can make a
difference politically in this home we call America. The founding Fathers predetermined for congress
to be the link between citizens and their government. A democracy is dependent on relevant and
purposeful communication between government and its citizens. How does this happen in America
today? We Vote, protest, utilize media, join interest groups, contribute ... Show more content on

Academic research has consistently found that people who consume more news media have a greater
probability of being civically and politically engaged across a variety of measures. In a generation
where everyone s time and attention is progressively focused on social media apps such as Facebook,
Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, there are still people who seek to appraise the relationship between
public engagement and social media use. The media is a very useful tool to get people participating in
the world of politics. A lot of us find out about political candidates, rallies, debates, and events through
news channels, newspapers, social media, and radio stations. The media has always been critiqued by
some but it also gives people the chance to be influenced by their government. Many people will login
to their Facebook page and see hundreds of political memes. According to Dictionary.com a meme is
an image that is spread via the internet and often altered in a creative or humorous way. When it
comes to political memes, people like to brew jokes about the political candidates they despise and get
reactions out of others. People are consistently sharing articles about candidate flaws such as Hillary
Clinton s 30,000 deleted emails or Donald Trump not releasing his tax returns. These things can
tremendously affect people altering their

The Speaker s Role in Three Poems by Howard, Wyatt, and Raleigh
The speakers in Farewell, False Love, by Sir Walter Raleigh and My Lute, Awake! by Sir Thomas
Wyatt the Elder have similar motivations, although the poems have differing constructs. Each speaker
seeks to unleash his venomous emotions at a woman who has scorned him, by humiliating her through
complicated revenge fantasies and savage metaphors. Through this invective, he hopes to convince us
of this woman s inward ugliness. Raleigh catalogues a long list of conceits for his false love: she is
every horrid thing from a siren song to an idle boy that sleeps in pleasure s lap .
The overtone of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey s Alas! So All Things Now Do Hold Their ... Show

The eloquent My Lute, Awake! is ostensibly addressed to the speaker s lute and to his lover, but the
story that he tells of her cruel rejection, and his predictions of her eventual lonely decrepitude, are
clearly meant for our ears, and he is notably aware that we are listening. Although he refers to his
lover as thee, he acknowledges early on that she cannot or will not hear him: As to be heard where ear
is none, / As lead to grave in marble stone / My song may pierce her heart as soon. In Farewell, False
Love, Raleigh does not use the second person, and his motive is obviously to characterize his faithless
love before his public. His metaphors are as creative as they are damning, and the verse itself is highly
structured: the first stanza deals with his lover s dishonesty, the second with her appearance of
sweetness which masks sin ( A poisoned serpent covered all with flowers. . . A gilded hook that holds
a poisoned bait ), and so forth. This is no spontaneous outpouring of emotion: it s more like a finely
tuned, premeditated character assassination.
Raleigh and Wyatt both proclaim stoicism in the face of rejection, contending that they no longer care
for their lovers after having been betrayed and rebuffed. Raleigh concludes his poem with Dead is the
root whence all these fancies grew. Wyatt asks his lute, Should we then sing or sigh or moan? No, no,
my lute for I have done. Care then

Marriage Between Women And Marriage Essay
The Formality marriage relationships documented in this study all included four stages: 1): Men Dang
Hu Dui 2): partnership, 3): friendship, 4): kinship (as shown on model1: formality marriage
developing model in Chinese guanxi society). Even though nowadays homosexual people have all the
freedom and rights to choose their future husband/wife and register for the same sex marriage in many
nations, Chinese LGBTs Populations is another scenarios, due to the same sex marriage haven t
achieved recognition in law and other complicated social cultural barriers in china, such us the
expectation of marriage as a cultural and familial obligation, filial piety, maintenance of family
offspring and other social cultural norms (Coleman Chou, 2013). Although the Formality marriage is a
rather controversial practice since it violates the core element of marriage based on love and many
other unknown risks may incur. The phenomenon reflects a deeply traditional culture that demands
young people to get married and have children to continue the family line when coming to their
marriage age. Some of LGs choose per formality marriage rather than deceptively marry a
heterosexual partner or become a center of discussion by not marrying. Compared to the other
alternatives, it offers a compensated way to balance the pressures from different aspects(Liu, 2013).
From this research, it implies that the marriage practice in formality marriage is a complicated issues
there. It is not a simple

  • 2. Essay about The Autobiography of Malcolm X The Autobiography of Malcolm X The Autobiography of Malcolm X is the story of Malcolm X, an African American male growing up in the United States in the mid 1900 s. At this time in America prejudice and segregation were widespread and much a part of everyday life. Malcolm takes the reader through his experiences with American society, which rejects him. This rejection, along with the inferiority cast upon all Black Americans, forces these males to search for acceptance. They are forced to search for purpose in causes greater than single individuals. As the book shows, this is evident in Malcolm throughout his life and in the life of other African American males. The Autobiography shows how during this time in American history ... With Malcolm s imprisonment ended the acceptance of the ghetto hustler and gangster life. In prison Malcolm had to find a new place to turn for acceptance. As his father did, Malcolm turned to religion. The religion he turned to, The Nation of Islam or more commonly known as the Black Muslims, were a group of African Americans who believed, among other things, that whites were the roots of evil. Malcolm became immersed in his religion. It seeped into every part of his life. For the next years I was the nearest thing to a hermit in the Norfolk Prison Colony. I have never been more busy in my life (173). Malcolm wrote many letters to family and friends about his new found faith and , most importantly, he found the acceptance he longed for with the teachings of Mr. Muhammad. This acceptance gave him purpose and after his release Malcolm became one of the foremost representatives of the Nation of Islam. After Malcolm separated from the Nation of Islam, part by choice but part by force, he had to turn elsewhere for the acceptance and purpose, which all African American males needed at this time. With his national prominence he formed a new organization. This organization would be the last place he found acceptance because of his untimely death. Throughout its long history, the sitcom has been commonly understood to define the cultural norms of modern society through such comedy techniques as satire and irony. Like modern society, certain characteristics of the sitcom have evolved over time, while others have remained consistent. The evolution of the sitcom coincides with the generational shift in attitudes of society towards certain beliefs and values. Fidel Castro took great pride in his military abilities, he expanded his army to 400,000 soldiers. This size of army was about ten times as much as what Batista had it at. The conflict over territories was based on who held the legitimate rights to the French throne. Unfortunately solving the conflict was difficult because of medieval legality which stated that one king could be the vassal of another king if the first inherited land outside his own kingdom. (Rudat, 1994, Stow, Dodd 356) Should Americans be required to learn Spanish as a second language? The construction of our nation stands on documents written in English, however English is not our official language nor has it ever been. America is a melting pot in which English is the most prominent language, followed closely by Spanish. Requiring Americans to learn Spanish is a great controversy; I strongly believe that it should be a requirement, because it improves academic achievements, career success, and cultural and social understanding. The controversy has great counter arguments such as the double standard Americans are held to, and further division of the country. Regarding the counterarguments, I still firmly believe that it should be a requirement because the integration of a second language in our schools is more beneficial to our country s success as a whole. First and foremost, the promotion of bilingualism in American school systems would greatly increase academic achievements. According to Huffington Post, the United States of America falls to number seventeen on the list of countries with the best education; Finland, South Korea and Hong Kong lead the list for higher education. • 11. The Theory Behind Absolute Advantage Over many years there has been many conceptual theories devised to help explain the reasons why there is trade within the world accompanied by the possibilities that gains could or could not be made. This piece of work will examine four main theories put forward by Adam Smith (Absolute advantage, 1776) which was then expanded on by David Ricardo with his theory of the Ricardian Model (Comparative advantage, 1817). Also including the Heckscher Ohlin model (relative factor abundance, 1919, 1933) and the ideas of New Trade Theory (Economies of Scale and Imperfect Competition). These ideas will be evaluated and synthesised to see if these explanations truly explain the reasons of trade theory. Absolute advantage was an idea suggest by Adam Smith in 1817. The theory behind absolute advantage suggests that if a country is highly skilled and efficient in producing a certain good with the fewer resources, then it is believed that a specific country has an absolute advantage in the production of that good (Sloman Garratt, 2013). However Absolute advantage can only occur if the country using its resources for a specific good/service does so efficiently otherwise no gains are made from trading. Although it can be argued that the idea of Absolute advantage does not particularly make much sense in explaining trade patterns. As said in Feenstra s and Taylors book, Absolute advantage does not particularly help to explain the case of why the US imports snowboards from places like China ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This reformation in the Church is significantly important as it was during these times when Europe was all but mired by Protestant movements. This revival has often been referred to as the Catholic Counter reformation, as a response against the Protestant Reformation. Christian humanism found expression, putting emphasis even on the pagan culture and philosophy. Controversies with the Protestants also gave way to the revival of scholasticism, giving way to a reformed papacy with its emphasis on spiritual life and service for the people. Such a papacy commanded respect from the Catholics as well as affirmed the validity of the Church s teachings. The Catholic Reformation was a rediscovery of the living Tradition. More than a counter reformation, it was a process of development, not so much as a defense against Protestantism. The mission of such movement was not directed towards an enemy, but undertaken due to an unwavering loyalty to God (Daniel Rops, 1964) At the height of the Protestant Reformation, religious dissatisfaction had culminated, prompting attacks against the Church. However, after less than half a century, the fervor that came with the Reformation had subsided. • 22. The Battle Of Saint Mihiel World War I Marc A. Lungo, Adam W. Delano, Christopher J. Snyder Air Defense Artillery Advanced Leaders Course World War I The battle of Saint Mihiel was a pivotal point in the many conflicts the United States was involved in during World War I. In this essay, the role of the Non Commissioned Officers, along with the invention of the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Air Gun, is shown to be an incredible advantage for the United States. The need for a weapon that is mobile, as well as perform a much needed defensive service, presented the opportunity to create the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Aircraft Gun. The 3 Inch M1918 AA gun is a derivative of the 3 Inch M1898 that is too large to be feasibly mobile (Ordnance, T.O, 1920). While this gun cannot be fired while being towed behind a vehicle, it is transportable enough to move to an area that needs protection from the ever growing aircraft attack threat. This variation has a design of a smaller breach that fired a cartridge of 76.2x585R, allowing a breach that will automatically open after the firing of each cartridge (Ordnance, T. O, 1920). This was an innovative concept that allows the firing of multiple rounds at a greater rate to help with the adjustment needed when firing at an aircraft traveling at a high velocity, attitude, and altitude. The muzzle velocity of this weapon firing a 15 pound shell, with either shrapnel or explosive charge, is 2,400 feet per second (Ordnance, T.O, 1920). The maximum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two studies in the New England Journal of Medicine provide evidence that in the short term, a low carbohydrate diet helped people lose weight without any adverse effects. In the last decade, several leading nutritional scientists have taken the side effects into consideration. They have begun to think that the low carb diet may be partly right about losing weight, and scientists are now finally studying whether low fat diets really work. However, many people still question the low carbohydrate diet s long term effectiveness and choose to stick to the traditional low fat diet. In the short ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And therefore, the fat does not get burnt off and there is no weight lost. On the other hand, in the long term, most nutritional experts are wary of the low carbohydrate diet s recommendations because of the dramatic, and possibly hazardous, changes the diet can have on the body. Among the many concerns are possible vitamin deficiencies, dehydration, gastrointestinal problems, and kidney, heart and gallbladder disease. Some short term benefits from a low fat diet have been documented, but similarly to the low carb diet, none have held up long term. In the short term people lower their cholesterol by eating less fatty foods. It was subsequently shown that saturated fats, as well as dietary cholesterol, elevate plasma total and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol by down regulating the LDL receptors in the liver. There is little doubt that Americans have improved their health by lowering their dietary intake of fat. Low fat diets are often advocated for weight reduction and to lower the risk of coronary heart disease and certain forms of cancer. However in the short term, there is no universal agreement about the value of low fat diets, because over time most people seem to gain the weight back. In the long term, there have been several lasting effects of the Low fat diet. First, low fat diets often cause an inadequate protein intake. Without protein our bodies can t rebuild properly. These exceptional qualities fuel the study of how the islands themselves were created, in order to answer the curiosities behind the composition of some of the most extravagant volcanoes in the world. III. History of the Hawaiian Islands The basic theory of plate tectonics says that all volcanic activity should occur between lithosphere plates (Physical Geology). However, the Hawaiian Islands bend this rule by being located directly in the middle of the Pacific plate. The Hawaiian volcanoes are known as intraplate volcanoes. This may not seem possible because it disrupts the rule of plate tectonics, but there s the exception of a hot spot. T. Wilson suggested that the Pacific plate moved in the northwestward direction over a melting spot deep within the mantle, and this hot spot remained relatively stationary and supplied magma to the moving Pacific plate to form the Hawaiian Island chain (Volcanoes in the Sea). In order to prove this suggestion, the structure of the Hawaiian Islands must be in line with a hot spot origin. This will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Layered security exponentially increases the cost and difficulty of penetration for an attacker by combining different security products to create a defensive barrier much stronger than the individual components. Thus, layered security decreases the likelihood that the attacker will pursue an organization (2). Computing environments are comprised of networks, operating systems, applications, and databases (Figure 1). That quality is the inability to make good decisions. When faced with alarming or stressful situations, Eckels, Travis, and the townsfolk in the lottery, make bad decisions. The townsfolk blunder through their life, blindly following the unjust tradition to stone someone to death each year. Eckels and Travis are both cowards, and cowards tend to make bad decisions because they are selfish. Both stories are connected by these cowardly people that make bad decisions. Around one hundred fifty thousand migrated to this territory over the course of three years, being one of the world s largest migrations in history. The wealth gained by the Forty Niner s in this era provided the opportunity for the creation of the economic powerhouse we see California as today. The California Gold Rush is a very complex topic to understand. There is a common misconception of it simply being a time of profit or loss by miners digging for gold. When instead, the Gold Rush was a time when Gold Fever was a common sickness of people around the world, people of all ages and color striving to meet their dreams of success and fortune. This migration of miners is best understood when California s history before the Gold Rush, the chaos over land ownership and lack of authority, and its short term and long term impacts are extensively analyzed (4). Before the start of the Gold Rush in 1849, California was a Mexican territory. It is Key to note (for later understanding of the issues concerning land ownership and makeshift law within the gold mining districts) that the Gold Rush was not a factor of concern for neither country within the Mexican War. • 37. Theories Of Existentialism In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road In the novel The Road by Cormac McCarthy, the theory of Existentialism can be easily seen through various key components. Existentialism is a philosophy that accentuates an individual s existence as a free being who is entirely responsible for the choices they make. It questions the human existence and whether there is any purpose of living; it is a notion that declares that an individual must define their own meaning in life and attempt to make rational decisions while existing in an irrational universe (Crowell). Such existential concepts are showcased throughout the book as an unnamed father and son travel across the United States where an unclear cataclysm has occurred destroying almost all life on Earth. They are striving to survive in this world where murder, cannibalism and sex slavery have become the norm. They are faced with inhumane situations and barbaric people, forcing them to make crucial decisions. It is understandable that the father and the boy are undergoing an existential crisis when being placed in this post apocalyptic world where they attempt to fulfill their ultimate goal of reaching safety by abiding by their morals and depending on their hope while questioning their faith in God. The boy and the father have strong morals demonstrating a high level of authenticity, especially in a world where morality is extremely uncommon. To be authentic means to genuinely be yourself. Although, as presented by Existentialism, one cannot be their true self until one has defined themselves. First, one must create their authentic selves, then they must live according to that (Varga). The father and the boy have strong principles to do what is right, even when their fellow survivors have completely abandoned morality altogether. At times, the father struggles with following said principles, however, he then justifies his actions which are purely for the safety of his son. This depicts that the father will do anything and everything to assure that the boy lives. The father expresses that He knew only that the child was his warrant. He said: If he is not the word of God God never spoke (5). When a man holds a knife to the son s neck, the father does not hesitate to kill him. Although this is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Court delays had already existed during the British Colonial period and while some delays are considered as necessary, many people consider these delays as totally unacceptable. Numerous articles are found online or on newspapers with regard to this issue and some people argue that the prolonging of court delays is in breach of the fundamental right to a fair hearing in a reasonable time. These delays relate to a variety of factors which to a certain extent are attributable to the procedure adopted in the court. However, other factors such as the legal history, culture and social relations should also be taken into consideration. During the Colonial period, the Maltese had resisted legal and judicial interventions by the British authorities and this seems to affect the way we see the lawyer s professional role today. At this point in time delays had already existed in civil litigation as the British Royal Commission (1911) investigated these delays and it was in charge of reforms to the Maltese judicial procedure. It focused mostly on the schedule followed by the courts for the hearing of cases. Through these investigations, what emerged was that the system adopted for the hearing of civil cases seemed to be based on the assumption that instead of a single session in which the case would be tried, there would be a series of hearings, which could reach thirty or forty over a number of years and which were usually separated from each other by periods of some three ... This approach involves constant comparison, multisource and multipass strategies, and triangulation of data sets for more robust findings (86). Audiotape recordings, researcher observations and intentional debriefings after each focus group were used to document the focus group sessions. The researchers constructed themes and dimensions in an attempt to identify the messages communicated in the focus group sessions. The idea of multipass strategies is to continue data analysis until no new findings or insights emerge. The focus of the study using SARA was on the meaning of the experiences in the words of the participants and not how some researchers use SARA by counting how frequently certain words are used. • 44. Bob Fosse s Dance The music changes now as the musicians start to play a march. The dancers then remove the flower from their hats pull their hats down low to resemble a soldiers headwear. In addition, they turn their canes upside down holding them as if they were guns and start marching off stage. Simultaneously, the lights turn dark blue on stage and the dancers faces turn serious. Their once extravagant and lighthearted movement is now stiff and somewhat serious. The audience however, laughs at this shift in theme. All the dancers march off stage except the center girl, she continues to march in a circle making faces and poking fun at the others. Finally, she leaves the stage laughing loudly and dramatically at herself. She comes on one more time only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those created by John Tiller and the other created by Laurence Tiller. Elswit explains that even though the groups were led by different people they both wanted to produce the same outcome, unison. The signature synchronization became a potent image of Weimar visual culture (Elswit, 51). Fosse s choreography was primarily based on the principle of unison within this piece. Elswit argues that the group was created as a way of responding to the industrialization of America. The girls were often mistaken for being an American group because of this aspect. As a result the choreographic elements were inspired by the creation of factories. Fosse s choreography was inspired by these events as he adhered strict machine like formations of dancers within the piece. Each formation was linear and showed order. Elswit also says that the use of the term Girls to refer to female dancers (Elswit, 52), was also selected in order to exaggerate the rise of mass produced products for them to buy (Elswit, 52). • 46. The Speaker s Role in Three Poems by Howard, Wyatt, and... The Speaker s Role in Three Poems by Howard, Wyatt, and Raleigh The speakers in Farewell, False Love, by Sir Walter Raleigh and My Lute, Awake! by Sir Thomas Wyatt the Elder have similar motivations, although the poems have differing constructs. Each speaker seeks to unleash his venomous emotions at a woman who has scorned him, by humiliating her through complicated revenge fantasies and savage metaphors. Through this invective, he hopes to convince us of this woman s inward ugliness. Raleigh catalogues a long list of conceits for his false love: she is every horrid thing from a siren song to an idle boy that sleeps in pleasure s lap . The overtone of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey s Alas! So All Things Now Do Hold Their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eloquent My Lute, Awake! is ostensibly addressed to the speaker s lute and to his lover, but the story that he tells of her cruel rejection, and his predictions of her eventual lonely decrepitude, are clearly meant for our ears, and he is notably aware that we are listening. Although he refers to his lover as thee, he acknowledges early on that she cannot or will not hear him: As to be heard where ear is none, / As lead to grave in marble stone / My song may pierce her heart as soon. In Farewell, False Love, Raleigh does not use the second person, and his motive is obviously to characterize his faithless love before his public. His metaphors are as creative as they are damning, and the verse itself is highly structured: the first stanza deals with his lover s dishonesty, the second with her appearance of sweetness which masks sin ( A poisoned serpent covered all with flowers. . . A gilded hook that holds a poisoned bait ), and so forth. This is no spontaneous outpouring of emotion: it s more like a finely tuned, premeditated character assassination. Raleigh and Wyatt both proclaim stoicism in the face of rejection, contending that they no longer care for their lovers after having been betrayed and rebuffed. Raleigh concludes his poem with Dead is the root whence all these fancies grew. Wyatt asks his lute, Should we then sing or sigh or moan? No, no, my lute for I have done. Care then ...
