Feminsim And Wicc A Spiritual Correlation
FEMINSIM AND WICCA: A SPIRITUAL CORRELATION
Marisa Leonardi
Religion, Magic and Witchcraft
Professors Palshikar and Mehta
May 13, 2016
Introduction
Today there are a bounty of religions to choose from, from Christianity to Hinduism, and while some
religions have their roots deep into the people s history, there are some religions that are relatively
new . Wicca, in the United States, is a relatively new religion that has gained popularity in the
1960s/1970s when Raymond and Rosemary Buckland brought it overseas from the United Kingdom .
From then on the numbers of the Wicca practice grew, and at the same time as this happened another
important social movement was happening: feminism . Is it coincidence that Christian practitioners
would turn towards a freer, pagan religion to find their ground and empowerment? Or does the social,
feministic movement have a hand in this change?
What is Wicca?
But first, in order to address this spiritual correlation, it must be addressed what exactly Wicca is, and
where it came from. Wicca is the largest denomination of Paganism , which in short is one who does
not believe in a monotheistic faith, like Christianity , and could be traced back to a man named Gerald
Gardner, the so called founder of Wicca. His discontent with Christianity that fueled his creation of
Wicca . The religion took off from there, branching out and picking up momentum in the United
Kingdom, and then was later introduced into the United States by

The Great Tuna Boat Chase and Massacre case Essay
The Great Tuna Boat Chase and Massacre Case has Ecuador claiming that the United States is in
violation of its 200 mile territorial sea. From it s inception, Ecuador had accepted the customary three
mile limit as the demarcation of its territorial waters. However, after 130 years, Juan Valdez achieved
power in 1952. Under his regime, he proclaimed that the three mile boundary was never meant to be
considered a fixed and unalterable boundary, and that historical practices as well as the natural
features of the area justified a 200 mile territorial sea. Each Ecuadorian president since Valdez claimed
this as well.
Under the UN 1982 treaty, a state s territorial sea extends twelve nautical miles from the national
coastline (Slomanson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The possession of this territory is not optional, not dependent upon the will of the State, but
compulsory (Slomanson 306).
In saying this, the ICJ ruled that a State must accept these waters as part of its jurisdiction and enforce
it. As the UN 1982 Treaty states, 12 miles is the furthest distance territorial waters may extend to.
Ecuador can not claim a 200 mile territorial sea. They must accept the 12 mile zone granted to them.
Ecuador can not construe the rules to their liking.
Ecuador s actions are not exclusive and have been seen before on the international level. In the past,
certain costal states have staked a claim much wider than the customary limit (Slomanson 308). The
majority of these cases were put forth by lesser developed nations with significant fishing or seabed
resources adjacent to their coasts while lacking the superior technology possessed by developed
nations to take advantages of these resources (Slomanson 308). Ecuador has used as justification the
claim that fishing resources act as the primary source of exports and national wealth. In 1952, the
same year that Ecuador claimed a 200 mile territorial sea, two other South American countries, Chile
and Peru, also adopted this stance.
On February 17th, 2004, Donald Thomas began sending his vessels into the vicinity of Ecuador s
coastal waters to fish for tuna. Thomas and his fleet of three tuna boats were fishing approximately

This project is about analyzing the voice signals and computing the MFCC i.e (Mel frequency
Cepstral Coefficient) and the VQ (Vector Quantisation) to be carried out.
So, as you can see there are nine steps carried out in here. The first one is about taking our own voice
signal and storing that in the database. So, this step is basically the most vital of all because we as
human beings can distinguish and recognize each other s voice. For ex. If four of us speak in a group
we can easily distinguish who spoke first and who finished at the last. Now, for a computer to
distinguish individual voice signals are not an easy task as everyone has their own frequency of
speech. Therefore this analyzing of the voice signals is only possible by computing ... Show more

So, now collectively organizing all the data points and using them for comparison purposes is quite
hectic. So, what we do we use VQ. You can see the red circles and the speaker 1 and the crosses and
for the speaker 2 and both of the data points don t coincide. What we are using here for matching is
vector quantization. Likewise let me show you vector quantization code word. Let me show you the
user database in which my friend s voice is stored. As you can see the crosses show the speaker 5
points and the delta shows the centroid values. Now how can we calculate the centroid values is the
main function here. Now what we have done we calculate the mean and it is splitted in two parts and
orthogonal to the two parts a line is drawn and the mean is calculated for both the areas and the
process goes on and on an in the end for comparison purposes these centroid values their distances are
calculated and those found with the minimum distances their match is found with the user. Likewise
here for speaker 4 and 5 are shown where red crosses and blue crosses represent the signals of the
speakers and similarly for these speakers the centroid values and mean are calculated and minimum
distance is found

Berkshire Hathaway Derivatives
make sports bets like this so it should come as no surprise that derivatives are so popular since many
of the same people who work in Wall Street are betting at sports books.
The Oracle of Omaha weighs in
Warren Buffet is unquestionably one of the most admired and successful investors in the world. He is
also the richest so his opinions carry some weight. Here is what he said about derivatives in the annual
report of his securities firm, Berkshire Hathaway in 2002. I view derivatives as time bombs, both for
the parties that deal in them and the economic system. He also called them financial instruments of
mass destruction.

Large swings in stock and commodity prices can happen in minutes and trigger an instant requirement
for cash liquidity that could become the stock market tipping point. Derivatives are believed to have
played a large role in 2008 when the phony valuations of mortgage backed securities (a derivative)
helped trigger the largest market crash in history up to that date.
What is different today? In 2015, the stock market rose 20% higher than its 2008 peak while the
derivatives exposure of the top 9 banks over the same period has risen at 40% twice that rate from

Demand analysis
From 1994 to 1997, the number of infants born in US is around 10 million (birth to 30months). A
baby, on average, uses five diapers per day for 30 months, for a total of 4500 diapers. At an average
retail price in the range of 18 to 27 cents per diapers, each baby represents about 1012.5 dollars in
retail sales. The retail dollar value of the US disposable diapers market was estimated to be 3.39
billion dollars in 1997. The retail dollar value of the training pants and young pants market was
estimated to be 595 million dollars in 1997.
Distribution channels
Disposable diapers and training pants are distributed principally through grocery stores, drugstores
and mass merchants. Grocery stores accounted for approximately 2 billion dollars in diapers and
training pants retail sale in 1997. Grocery store distribution of diapers and training pants has been
decreasing as a percentage of total retail sales since 1994. Grocery Stores accounted for 51.2% of
retail sales in 1997, compared with 60% in 1994.
Mass merchants and drugstores recorded diaper and training pants retail sales of about 1.9 billion
dollars in 1997. Mass merchants have increased their share of total diaper and training pants retail
sales from 30% in 1994 to 39.4% in 1997. The drugstore share of diaper and training pants retail sales
has declined from 10% in 1994 to 9.2% in 1997.

V For Vendetta Response Analysis
V for Vendetta Response Analysis Essay
In the film V for Vendetta, directed by James McTeigue, the viewer s early impression of Evey is that
she is powerless ladylike and a terrified character, who is caught by her dread of the legislature.
Notwithstanding, the viewer s impression of Evey is tested all through the film through visual
procedures, for example, ensemble, exchange and altering. She turns into a much more grounded,
more intrepid character.
In the start of V for Vendetta, Evey is depicted as a ladylike character. However this is challenged as
the film advances she turns out to be less ladylike. This is appeared through the strategy of costume.
For instance toward the begin of the film we see her putting on cosmetics, doing her hair and wearing
a dress. Toward the end of the film however she wears pants and a shirt, no cosmetics and no hair
(because of V shaving it off, yet she keeps it along these lines). The director has done this to
demonstrate the viewer the significance of advancement and to propose that society ought to be less
conceited and ought to concentrate on issues greater than themselves. This issue is the dread of the
legislature. Evey is being utilized as a representative of the society, in light of the fact that does Evey
change as well as society changes to end up distinctly less dreadful of the government and to not give
them a chance to control them. This is seen at the very end of the film when the general population of

Water Quality Measures For North And South Carolina Coasts
This project evaluates drought and water quality measures for North and South Carolina coasts. It
provides a better understanding of how drought may affect the coastal region s water quality. The
project supports the National Integrated Drought Information System and the Carolinas Integrated
Sciences and Assessments. It contributes to the Drought Early Warning System for the Carolinas.
Individual questions are brought to attention during the data collecting process. Overall this project is
to determine if there is a significant correlation between water quality and droughts. In addition to the
overall project, an interesting research idea I proposed is the link between drought and fecal coliform

To examine whether or not there is a link between drought and water quality types of drought had to
be examined in order to choose which drought index to use. A drought is deficiency in precipitation
over some period of time. Water shortages can include impacts on vegetation, animals, and/or people.
For this project, The Palmer Hydrological Index was chosen because it provides numerical
classifications of drought. The PHDI includes standardized calculations for each location based on
temperature and precipitation variability of the specific location. This type of calculation makes the
data collection and analysis easier, as impairment can be compared to a numerical value and drought
is calculated specifically based on the regions temperature and precipitation variability. Different data
sets between states and the frequency of drought were examined over time by the group as whole, to
bring about a time series and correlation. Team players in this group developed skills working with
others and experts, such as Dr. Carbone and Dr. Tufford who provided resources and advice during the
project data collection process and analysis. Over time the project allowed the group practice working
together and resolving issues. It provided a real world experience with team leaders acting as bosses

The Boundary Of The Yakama Nation Reservation
Problems
The boundary of the Yakama Nation Reservation is considered home to different culturally diverse
populations. Parenting skills and teaching can vary dramatically from each of those unique
households. The diverse populations come with varying levels of what is considered appropriate child
rearing practices. Child abuse intakes are increasing due to families from Mexico coming here to the
US and the standards are different (Ruiz, 2015). Pilar Ruiz is a Social Worker at Children s
Administration assigned to the Child Protective Services. Families migrate to the area and they carry
different perspectives on parenting and may not understand the expectations of Washington State and
Child Abuse Laws. It is not only migrant families that need additional support. Families that have
been here for many years have traditional practices that may cross the line when it comes to child
abuse and neglect. These families that are located in this area need the additional support of increasing
family bonds, healthy parenting, life skills, bonding, and reducing violence and substance abuse.
Macro Personal Reality
Establishing positive parenting skills within the community will assist the parents in gaining new
alternatives to their current practices. Often we get the same families that are repeat offenders or they
never really learn their ways of parenting are not acceptable (Ruiz, 2015). Providing the Strong
Families curriculum will reduce the number of children that are

Looking Beyond the Surface at Raymond Carver s Cathedral
It seems in life that we often look at things without really seeing them. Raymond Carver demonstrates
in Cathedral that looking is associated to physical vision, but seeing involves a deeper level of
commitment. The author is making the point when you put yourself into someone else s shoes and
allow yourself to see things the way they see them, it can be the most rewarding and eye opening
experience.
During the exposition, the narrator shows that he has no problems with eyesight and he is capable of
looking. The narrator is not blind and thinks that because he can see he is better than Robert. Because
of Robert s physical blindness the narrator thinks that he is not able to have any kind of normal life.
The narrator believes that the ability to see is everything, and puts no effort into looking and seeing
anything beyond the surface. He looks at his house, wife, television, and at Robert when he arrives.
How ironic is it that Robert, the blind man, has the ability to see on a much deeper level than the
narrator? For example, even though Robert cannot physically see the narrator s wife, he understands
her a lot more than her husband. He has truly listened to her during the past ten years on the
audiotapes she sends him. The only interactions shown between the narrator, the protagonist, and his
wife are short exchanges in which he seems to get on her nerves. It is demonstrated in this conflict by
Robert, the antagonist, that seeing involves a lot more than just looking.

Most organizations do not like to implement strict password policies as this is relatively undesirable
by the organizations users. However, failure to implement such a policy leaves the organization very
vulnerable to someone being able to gain unauthorized access. There are several courses of action that
can be taken by the organization to mitigate this threat. One that would practically eliminate the threat
would be implement a multi factor authentication system. This requires that the user attempting to
authenticate must have multiple items to authenticate whether it is something they have such as an ID
card combined with something they know such as a PIN, or something they know such as their
username, and something they are such as a fingerprint. This form of authentication makes it almost
impossible for an unauthorized user to gain accesses, because if they are able to obtain one part of the
equation, say the part that someone knows, they must also obtain the second part which is something
that person has or is. Without these two separate keys, the unauthorized user won t be able to unlock
the door and obtain access to the organizations information resources. Although implementing a multi
factor authentication solution can be relatively expensive and time consuming. So if the organization
chooses to stay with a single factor authentication system, then they need to implement a strict
password policy that requires complex passwords, along

Compare And Contrast This Is Water By David Foster Wallace
There were two pieces of text I recently read, one is This is water by David Foster Wallace, and the
other is Letters to a young poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. I will be discussing the contrast between these
two texts and tell the audience what they were precisely thinking about. For Wallace, his passed
commencement speech to share advice to people who here at a college graduation. In his speech, he
delivered the reality of how a typical adult life goes. His statement also talked about decision making,
and how all choices will impact our future growth. On the other hand, Rilke conveys his ideas by
writing the letter to one military student named Franz Xaver Kappus. In the letter to a young poet, I
mostly focused on letter eight, because he pays attention to solitude and how it is essential to be a real
artist. It is only through solitude that he will learn personal truths, he told Kappus that he needs to trust
his feelings and to face the difficulty. Rilke talked about solitude in letter eight. As I grow older, I
gradually understand that everything will not be smooth, it is hard. There will be many things we
cannot avoid, such as solitude. Nowadays, solitude has already become a regular phenomenon in our
daily life. For example, when I walk on the street, I always see a person walking alone, eating alone,
shopping alone, or even goes to concerts alone. As Rilke said, Solitude it always becomes clearer that
this is at the bottom, not something that one can take or

Definition Of Murder
Every kid grows up being told what is right and what is wrong. Do not take the other kids toys that is
bad. Share your snack that is good. The idea of bad feels elementary; it is something we have been
surrounded by our whole life. However, the term might not be so easily defined.
Murder is considered unmoral in nearly every culture, however every culture sends people to war.
Murder is the act of taking another life, but is defined loosely. Soldiers are not considered murders,
and rightfully so, even though they take lives. Instead of changing the ideas surrounding murder the
definition of murder is changed. What was once considered a violent, cruel act is now seen as heroism.
The circumstances that surround the act define the act itself.

The purpose of this research article is to examine the relationship between CEO compensation and

possibility of a correlation between these two variables via the investigation of three key research
questions: (1) Does CEO compensation affect patient satisfaction? (2) Does CEO compensation play a
mediating role between patient satisfaction and hospital size? (3) Other than CEO compensation, what

Mental Disorders And Its Effects On Psychological Disorders
Mental disorders are defined as a syndrome characterized by clinically significant disturbance in an
individual s cognition, emotion regulation, or behavior that reflects a dysfunction in the psychological,
biological, or developmental processes underlying mental function (Shiraev Levy, 2017, 2017, p.253).
While there are numerous symptoms, there are several that are highly associated with mental disorders
including substantial distress or a form of impediment in social settings and other important events.
Culture has a great impact on psychological disorders influencing five critical areas: subjective
experience, idioms of distress, diagnoses, treatment, and the outcome. Subjective experience is the

cannot be understood outside of the context. Mainly, the relativist approach agrees that
psychopathology is culture specific and should have different meaning in different societies (Shiraev

cultural environment is not effective in other cultures conditions. The universalist approach does view
the cultural impact as important but it is not considered excessively for psychopathological
phenomena. Instead, psychopathological phenomena across countries and cultures tends to be

Anthropology Rites Of Passage
Rites of passage is a term often used in anthropology to refer to specific ceremonies that mark a
personal or collective change in the identity of a person. The term rite of passage was first used in
anthropology to encapsulate rituals that symbolize the transition of an individual or a group from one
status to another, or to denote the passage of calendrical time . (Tzanelli, 2010) Rites of passage have
been a major part of almost all educational, social and spiritual groups. They have been observed

history. All around the world, societies implement unique rituals and events to signify a transition of a

With the knowledge of the ancestors re gained or the vision of a spiritual guardian received, the
individual returns to the ordinary world, his or her self re defined, with a new status. The former
initiate is incorporated back to their community triumphant after having overcome their orphaned
status. (Frey, 2013) The new individual can be welcomed back into their community by being the
center of large religious ceremonies or communal meals. They can also receive emblems of their new
status such as a new name, jewelry, and clothing. (Berry, 1984)
Rites of passage have been viewed in different ways by the anthropologists who study them. Social
anthropologists view them as transitional stages that help transition individual from one status to
another. In other words they are a social acknowledgement of aging. These anthropologists believe
that without them societies would be full of conflict as individuals would have a harder time
transitioning into new statuses. (Van Gennep,

Politicised Ethnicity, Competitive Politics and Conflict in Kenya: A Historical Perspective
ethnicity has emerged as the single most important factor in political competition
Political parties have been organised along ethnic identities and state power aggressively contested on

Education Is A Great Thing That Everyone Tries To Achieve
Education is a great thing that everyone tries to achieve for themselves and for their children. The
reason for this, is that when one has a great educational background, it can lead to the person getting a
better job, a better income, and a better chance to provide for their family. Some, however might not
get this opportunity or do not realize the importance of a great education until it is too late. The
reasons a person might not get a great education are numerous, and it can include they can t afford the
high cost that comes with getting a college education, don t have the time, or just come from a poor
family and feel that, they won t be accepted into these schools. These types of issues usually affect

Policy is best defined as a statement by the government of what it intends to do such as law,
regulation, or decision about a specific problem (Birkland, 2016). This definition about policy seems
to say, that a policy tries to combat or resolve an underlining problem that a community, or a certain
section of a community is dealing with at the current moment, with legislation. This is an important
aspect of our country because it allows for better results when something goes wrong, in that the
policy makers realize that something is not working, and would create policy in order to correct the
problem. A problem also has a unique definition, when it comes to policy. A problem is defined as a
usually undesirable situation that according to people or interest groups that can be alleviated by
government action (Birkland, 2016). The definition of a problem seems to suggest that the policy
makers and the government taking the necessary measures in order to solve the problem can mitigate
any problem. In this country s history, there have been many problems that the government tried to
resolve with many degrees of success. The Dream act was another case of a major problem seen by
many, which need to be resolved with quick government action. After defining what a policy is, and
what a problem is in a general sense, we now need to look at what problem the Dream Act, is trying to
resolve in the first place. The main objective of the

Letter to Lóreal Canada Regarding Avoiding Animal Testing
DATE: April 03, 2014
TO: K. Voltan, Vice President
FROM: Rob Geis, Marketing Executive
SUBJECT: Higher Demand for Non Animal Tested Cosmetic Products
INTRODUCTION
L Oréal Canada and Animal Testing
There has been some controversy regarding L Oréal Canada and their use of animal testing in their
cosmetic products. For certifications regarding safety, we currently possess 86% of manufacturing
facilities that are either OHSAS 18001 or VPP certified. (L Oréal Canada, 2014) Safety is a priority
for us at L Oréal Canada to ensure that our products are safe for our consumers so that they can enjoy
the beauty of our cosmetic products. Health Canada has stated that science has not advanced to the
point where they feel comfortable banning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(CFHS, 2014) L Oréal Canada should work hard to ensure that all of our manufacturing faculties
comply with the standards of CCAC so that our faculties can be certified for good animal practices as
well. It is important that our researchers and manufacturers find alternative methods to animal testing,
and only resort to the use of animals when all else fails. If there is no option but to use animals for the
testing of cosmetic products, the number of animals used should be minimized, and pain and
discomfort for those animals should be reduced as well. This is how the implementation of the three R
s of ethics should be used with regards to animals in research so that we have good business practices
and consumers will be more willing to purchase our products.
Sections 444 447 under the Criminal Code of Canada protects the rights of animals against cruelty, but
it the provincial legislation that deals with the use of animals in research. (CFHS, 2014) Quebec has a
specific legislation for animals in research, but this legislation does not have the CCAC guidelines
implemented into the legislation. (CFHS, 2014) At L Oréal Canada, since we are located in Montreal,
we should focus on incorporating CCAC guidelines into our business practices even though the
provincial legalisation does not make it a requirement. This is important because consumers want to
purchase products from companies that have good business practices and protect the rights of animals.
Therefore our

Book Report On The Glass Castle By Jeanette Walls
The Siblings That Overcame Their Bad Luck The only good luck some people ever have is being born
with the strength and determination to overcome their bad luck. This was the case for Jeanette Walls
and her siblings because they had to find their own way to finally have stability and not be burdened
with the problems her parents brought upon them. The book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is
full of lies, despair, and hypocrisy as the Wall siblings struggle together to rise from the bottom and
escape from the misery in Little Hobart Street. The siblings were bullied throughout their childhood
by other kids either physically and verbally because of their looks, and financial situation. It was

They were always hungry and their parents were not working because Rose Mary was lazy and Rex
was drunk most of the time. The siblings had to fetch food from trashcans at school in stealth mode.
Maureen solved the problem by going over to her friend s house and had dinner with them. Brain,
Lori, and Jeannette all had to scavenge for their food and clothes. Until one day they just had enough
essentially, leading them to leave their parents and began the journey to acquire a prosperous life.
They began saving up for the expenses of transportation, Lori made posters and Jeanette worked in
Jewelry store and bay sat and Brain mowed lawns. They were saving it in a piggy bank, but one day
Jeanette came home to an empty piggy bank, she knew it was her father. When Lori, and Bran found
out they were furious the siblings all waited patiently for Rex to arrive. They waited three days but
when arrived he was drunk and not long after pasted out. The sibling realized it was pointless arguing
with Rex, he just made them feel even more miserable. Eventfully another opportunity came up; Mrs.
Sanders offered Jeanette and opportunity to escape by offering her a job in Iowa babysitting and a
buying her ticket back home. Jeanette change the offer to ticket to New York city and it was a deal.

How Change Is A Essential Part Of Life
Change is a vital part of life, it allows us to grow and mature overtime. Whether you want to believe it
or not, we go through changes. We find different outlooks, styles and sometimes we may even change
our personality, or maturity level. My choices over the course of this semester have changed me for
the better. I started this class oblivious to the norms and traditions of a college English class. I must
admit that for the first few weeks I was shocked at how different college is from my simple high
school English course.
I now have a different outlook on life. At the beginning of the semester I wasn t sure whether or not I
wanted to further my education at a four year university, or successfully complete my AA degree and
then enter a police academy. I can now say that I know my path and I can t wait to walk it, I m glad
that this change has happened in my life. Additionally, the next thing that has changed is my maturity
level. I didn t take this class as serious as I should have in the beginning and my grade reflected that. I
changed my attitude toward the course by concentrating more on the instructions and making sure that
I followed them to the best of my ability.
I wrote about the emotion desire in an essay earlier this semester, while I do feel this emotion daily
there is another emotion that stays prevalent in my mind. Pride is something that is a big part of my
personality, it is both a positive and a negative. Everyone needs at least some pride or else they

The regulatory environment is becoming more restrictive, viruses and worms are growing more
pervasive and damaging, and ABC Heathcare s stakeholders are demanding more flexible access to
their systems.
The healthcare industry is experiencing significant regulatory pressures that mandate prudent
information security and systems management practices.
Furthermore, the continued pressure to reduce cost requires that management focus on streamlining
operations, reducing management overhead and minimizing human intervention. The regulatory focus
at ABC Healthcare is on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and
Sarbanes Oxley (SOX). Both pieces of legislation highlight the need for good systems administration
and controls, but focus on different aspects of the business. The main focus of HIPAA is to protect
personally identifiable health information while SOX is concerned with data that impacts financial
reporting. Violations may be met with both civil and criminal penalties. Therefore, the company must
be ever watchful of new threats to their systems, data, and business operations.
The most prevalent security related threat to on going business operations is the continued
development and propagation of viruses and worms. Virus and worm prevention or containment is a
vital component to the overall risk mitigation strategy. Virus and worm outbreaks have multiple cost

The American Media s Influence On The Italian American
The American media has had a substantial influence on the Italian American stereotype, especially that
regarding mobsters. The American cinema has created movies and TV shows such as The Godfather,
Goodfellas, The Sopranos, and more. The media has the power to influence how people think and see
things, including ethnic groups and races. This was seen extensively in the 2016 United States
Presidential election. Hollywood has always had the strength to have ethnic groups be seen in a
positive or negative light. In the twentieth century, the media had a negative portrayal of Italian
Americans that has evolved as time passed. The reason for the views changing with each passing
decade is the fact that foreigners and their future generations became more Americanized. First,
Hollywood and the media had a negative portrayal of Italian Americans compared to other ethnic
groups. In the article Family, Gang, and Ethnicity in Italian themed Hollywood Gangster Films, the
author Silvia Dibeltulo states that in movies where both Italian American and Irish American
gangsters were portrayed, Italian American gangsters were portrayed as more alien whereas their
Italian American counterparts were portrayed as more assimilated . This led to Italians being
negatively associated with the stereotypes from these movies, which led to anxiety across the country.
The article goes on to state more differences between the depictions of Italian American and Irish
American gangs in films. The

Swot Analysis Of Risksense Inc. Essay
Introduction
Cybersecurity is defined as the state of being protected against the criminal or unauthorized use of
electronic data, or measures taken to achieve this. (Oxford Dictionaries) I researched, and found a lot
of new cybersecurity technology, but in this paper, I narrowed it down to four. All of these
technologies seem like they will have a huge impact on the cybersecurity field as a whole.
Cybersecurity is important because we would not have much of anything in cyberspace if nothing was
secure.

RiskSense
The first technology I found is called RiskSense. RiskSense Inc. a spin off of the New Mexico
Institute of Mining and Technology. They originally conducted research as a service projects. For the
U.S Department of Defense and U.S Intelligence Community, they made Computational Analysis of
Cyber Terrorism Against the U.S, or CACTUS. They also made Behavior Risk Analysis of Vicious
Executables, or BRAVE for short, and the Strike Team Program. RiskSense Inc. has invested a lot in
research, which lead to a variety of patents that are part of the RiskSense Platform s DNA. In order to
stay ahead of other cyber companies, they employ a large member of very talented security
researchers, and work together via it s Fellowship Program with leading IT and cybersecurity
programs at different universities.

Examples Of The Transcendentalism Movement
Introduction The transcendentalism movement is a prominent example that resulted in change and
revolution in human history. A literary, religious, political and philosophical movement,
transcendentalism started in the mid 1830s and challenged the traditional views of society, particularly
those related to the established churches. The origins of transcendentalism date back to sixteenth and
seventeenth century New England, when Puritanism first emerged as a call for furthering perfection of
the Protestant Reform (Bremer and Webster 13). Unitarians, successors of Puritans, also initiated the
transcendental movement and were conceived as mentors of many rising transcendentalists (Grodzins
1). Eventually, these rising transcendentalists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Origins of Transcendentalism The emergence of transcendentalism is largely attributed to the religious
reform movement of Puritanism that began in the late sixteenth century in New England. The
foundational beliefs of Puritanism paralleled with those of Calvinism, and strongly contrasts with
those of the transcendentalists. For example, the Puritans emphasized theocracy based on the bible, as
well as salvation, material wealth, and man s dominance over nature. Contrastingly, the
transcendentalists believed in democracy based on intuition, the simplification of every day life, and
man being one with nature. Unitarianism also gave rise to transcendentalism, as the Unitarian church
took more of an anti Calvinist approach which appealed to the transcendentalists. The founders of
transcendentalism were Unitarian intellectuals of the middle and upper classes of eastern
Massachusetts, who took a strong interest in moral reform. Initially, they looked to Unitarians as
teachers, however, they eventually challenged the important principles of the Unitarian church. These
transcendentalists not only challenged the Unitarian doctrines that were taught at Harvard Divinity
School, but they protested against the general aspects of society and intellectualism. Rather than
through logic and the doctrines of established religions, the transcendentalists believed that the
spiritual state can only be accomplished through one s

Effects Of Racial Injustice
The Injustice of Racial Prejudice
Is there racial discrimination in the United States criminal justice system? If so, how can we change
this? Police brutality against minorities has specifically brought attention to this subject. Researchers
have been studying racial prejudice in everyday life, police interactions with civilians, and in the
courtroom.
Researchers studied racial prejudice in everyday interactions. These simple interactions can help us
understand how to improve the criminal justice system even before jurors step into the courtroom.
Lowery, Hardin, and Sinclair (2001) wanted to know if the race of the experimenter would elicit
automatic racial prejudice from participants. The results showed that when the experimenter was
Black and the participants were White, there were fewer anti Black answers, meaning that there were
less negative association with Black names or faces on the test they completed . Asians, on the other
hand, did not hide their biases. When the anti bias instructions were received, Whites and Asians had
similar results. These results show that framing jury instructions and having Black people present in a
White setting can help decrease bias in courts.
Researchers also studied racial prejudice directly in the criminal justice system. Eberhardt, Goff,
Purdie, and Davies (2004) wanted to know the extent Blacks are associated with criminality.
Participants looked at White and Black faces, were primed with either random letters, crime related

Health Savings Account
Are Health Savings Accounts Working Effectively? Health savings accounts were originally created to
encourage people to have control over how their money was spent on their healthcare. If the funding
was coming from their private source than people would be less likely to use unneeded treatments or
investigate costs prior to utilizing, to get the most from their money. Similar to the idea of when
people use cash for their spending in place of plastic, credit or debit cards. People tend to be more
frugal with their spending with cash. The concept that they were hoping for to be true would respond

to get from my employer for my family of five for $240.00 a paycheck which was twenty six bi

my premium went down to $121.78 a biweekly paycheck. The high deductible was $2000. My

  • 2. Feminsim And Wicc A Spiritual Correlation FEMINSIM AND WICCA: A SPIRITUAL CORRELATION Marisa Leonardi Religion, Magic and Witchcraft Professors Palshikar and Mehta May 13, 2016 Introduction Today there are a bounty of religions to choose from, from Christianity to Hinduism, and while some religions have their roots deep into the people s history, there are some religions that are relatively new . Wicca, in the United States, is a relatively new religion that has gained popularity in the 1960s/1970s when Raymond and Rosemary Buckland brought it overseas from the United Kingdom . From then on the numbers of the Wicca practice grew, and at the same time as this happened another important social movement was happening: feminism . Is it coincidence that Christian practitioners would turn towards a freer, pagan religion to find their ground and empowerment? Or does the social, feministic movement have a hand in this change? What is Wicca? But first, in order to address this spiritual correlation, it must be addressed what exactly Wicca is, and where it came from. Wicca is the largest denomination of Paganism , which in short is one who does not believe in a monotheistic faith, like Christianity , and could be traced back to a man named Gerald Gardner, the so called founder of Wicca. His discontent with Christianity that fueled his creation of Wicca . The religion took off from there, branching out and picking up momentum in the United Kingdom, and then was later introduced into the United States by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Great Tuna Boat Chase and Massacre case Essay The Great Tuna Boat Chase and Massacre Case has Ecuador claiming that the United States is in violation of its 200 mile territorial sea. From it s inception, Ecuador had accepted the customary three mile limit as the demarcation of its territorial waters. However, after 130 years, Juan Valdez achieved power in 1952. Under his regime, he proclaimed that the three mile boundary was never meant to be considered a fixed and unalterable boundary, and that historical practices as well as the natural features of the area justified a 200 mile territorial sea. Each Ecuadorian president since Valdez claimed this as well. Under the UN 1982 treaty, a state s territorial sea extends twelve nautical miles from the national coastline (Slomanson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The possession of this territory is not optional, not dependent upon the will of the State, but compulsory (Slomanson 306). In saying this, the ICJ ruled that a State must accept these waters as part of its jurisdiction and enforce it. In the past, certain costal states have staked a claim much wider than the customary limit (Slomanson 308). The majority of these cases were put forth by lesser developed nations with significant fishing or seabed resources adjacent to their coasts while lacking the superior technology possessed by developed nations to take advantages of these resources (Slomanson 308). Ecuador has used as justification the claim that fishing resources act as the primary source of exports and national wealth. In 1952, the same year that Ecuador claimed a 200 mile territorial sea, two other South American countries, Chile and Peru, also adopted this stance. On February 17th, 2004, Donald Thomas began sending his vessels into the vicinity of Ecuador s coastal waters to fish for tuna. Thomas and his fleet of three tuna boats were fishing approximately 185 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nt1320 Unit 8 This project is about analyzing the voice signals and computing the MFCC i.e (Mel frequency Cepstral Coefficient) and the VQ (Vector Quantisation) to be carried out. So, as you can see there are nine steps carried out in here. The first one is about taking our own voice signal and storing that in the database. So, this step is basically the most vital of all because we as human beings can distinguish and recognize each other s voice. For ex. If four of us speak in a group we can easily distinguish who spoke first and who finished at the last. Now, for a computer to distinguish individual voice signals are not an easy task as everyone has their own frequency of speech. Therefore this analyzing of the voice signals is only possible by computing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, now collectively organizing all the data points and using them for comparison purposes is quite hectic. So, what we do we use VQ. You can see the red circles and the speaker 1 and the crosses and for the speaker 2 and both of the data points don t coincide. What we are using here for matching is vector quantization. Likewise let me show you vector quantization code word. Let me show you the user database in which my friend s voice is stored. As you can see the crosses show the speaker 5 points and the delta shows the centroid values. Now how can we calculate the centroid values is the main function here. Now what we have done we calculate the mean and it is splitted in two parts and orthogonal to the two parts a line is drawn and the mean is calculated for both the areas and the process goes on and on an in the end for comparison purposes these centroid values their distances are calculated and those found with the minimum distances their match is found with the user. Likewise here for speaker 4 and 5 are shown where red crosses and blue crosses represent the signals of the speakers and similarly for these speakers the centroid values and mean are calculated and minimum distance is found ... Berkshire Hathaway Derivatives make sports bets like this so it should come as no surprise that derivatives are so popular since many of the same people who work in Wall Street are betting at sports books. The Oracle of Omaha weighs in Warren Buffet is unquestionably one of the most admired and successful investors in the world. He is also the richest so his opinions carry some weight. Here is what he said about derivatives in the annual report of his securities firm, Berkshire Hathaway in 2002. I view derivatives as time bombs, both for the parties that deal in them and the economic system. He also called them financial instruments of mass destruction. Charlie Munger, Buffet s long time partner at Berkshire Hathaway is even more outspoken. In a 2014 interview with Forbes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Large swings in stock and commodity prices can happen in minutes and trigger an instant requirement for cash liquidity that could become the stock market tipping point. Derivatives are believed to have played a large role in 2008 when the phony valuations of mortgage backed securities (a derivative) helped trigger the largest market crash in history up to that date. What is different today? In 2015, the stock market rose 20% higher than its 2008 peak while the derivatives exposure of the top 9 banks over the same period has risen at 40% twice that rate from $160 trillion to more than $228 trillion. Over the past couple of decades, the derivatives market has multiplied in size because it is one of the few areas the government has not heavily regulated. • 8. V For Vendetta Response Analysis V for Vendetta Response Analysis Essay In the film V for Vendetta, directed by James McTeigue, the viewer s early impression of Evey is that she is powerless ladylike and a terrified character, who is caught by her dread of the legislature. Notwithstanding, the viewer s impression of Evey is tested all through the film through visual procedures, for example, ensemble, exchange and altering. She turns into a much more grounded, more intrepid character. In the start of V for Vendetta, Evey is depicted as a ladylike character. However this is challenged as the film advances she turns out to be less ladylike. This is appeared through the strategy of costume. For instance toward the begin of the film we see her putting on cosmetics, doing her hair and wearing a dress. Toward the end of the film however she wears pants and a shirt, no cosmetics and no hair (because of V shaving it off, yet she keeps it along these lines). The director has done this to demonstrate the viewer the significance of advancement and to propose that society ought to be less conceited and ought to concentrate on issues greater than themselves. This issue is the dread of the legislature. Evey is being utilized as a representative of the society, in light of the fact that does Evey change as well as society changes to end up distinctly less dreadful of the government and to not give them a chance to control them. This is seen at the very end of the film when the general population of London continue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Individual questions are brought to attention during the data collecting process. Overall this project is to determine if there is a significant correlation between water quality and droughts. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To examine whether or not there is a link between drought and water quality types of drought had to be examined in order to choose which drought index to use. A drought is deficiency in precipitation over some period of time. Water shortages can include impacts on vegetation, animals, and/or people. For this project, The Palmer Hydrological Index was chosen because it provides numerical classifications of drought. The PHDI includes standardized calculations for each location based on temperature and precipitation variability of the specific location. This type of calculation makes the data collection and analysis easier, as impairment can be compared to a numerical value and drought is calculated specifically based on the regions temperature and precipitation variability. Different data sets between states and the frequency of drought were examined over time by the group as whole, to bring about a time series and correlation. Team players in this group developed skills working with others and experts, such as Dr. Carbone and Dr. Tufford who provided resources and advice during the project data collection process and analysis. Over time the project allowed the group practice working together and resolving issues. It provided a real world experience with team leaders acting as bosses and the professor who served as supervisor. The project also required each week team updates on progress, weaknesses and ... Parenting skills and teaching can vary dramatically from each of those unique households. The diverse populations come with varying levels of what is considered appropriate child rearing practices. Child abuse intakes are increasing due to families from Mexico coming here to the US and the standards are different (Ruiz, 2015). Pilar Ruiz is a Social Worker at Children s Administration assigned to the Child Protective Services. Families migrate to the area and they carry different perspectives on parenting and may not understand the expectations of Washington State and Child Abuse Laws. It is not only migrant families that need additional support. Families that have been here for many years have traditional practices that may cross the line when it comes to child abuse and neglect. These families that are located in this area need the additional support of increasing family bonds, healthy parenting, life skills, bonding, and reducing violence and substance abuse. Macro Personal Reality Establishing positive parenting skills within the community will assist the parents in gaining new alternatives to their current practices. • 11. Looking Beyond the Surface at Raymond Carver s Cathedral It seems in life that we often look at things without really seeing them. Raymond Carver demonstrates in Cathedral that looking is associated to physical vision, but seeing involves a deeper level of commitment. The author is making the point when you put yourself into someone else s shoes and allow yourself to see things the way they see them, it can be the most rewarding and eye opening experience. During the exposition, the narrator shows that he has no problems with eyesight and he is capable of looking. The narrator is not blind and thinks that because he can see he is better than Robert. Because of Robert s physical blindness the narrator thinks that he is not able to have any kind of normal life. The narrator believes that the ability to see is everything, and puts no effort into looking and seeing anything beyond the surface. He looks at his house, wife, television, and at Robert when he arrives. How ironic is it that Robert, the blind man, has the ability to see on a much deeper level than the narrator? For example, even though Robert cannot physically see the narrator s wife, he understands her a lot more than her husband. He has truly listened to her during the past ten years on the audiotapes she sends him. The only interactions shown between the narrator, the protagonist, and his wife are short exchanges in which he seems to get on her nerves. It is demonstrated in this conflict by Robert, the antagonist, that seeing involves a lot more than just looking. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are several courses of action that can be taken by the organization to mitigate this threat. One that would practically eliminate the threat would be implement a multi factor authentication system. This requires that the user attempting to authenticate must have multiple items to authenticate whether it is something they have such as an ID card combined with something they know such as a PIN, or something they know such as their username, and something they are such as a fingerprint. This form of authentication makes it almost impossible for an unauthorized user to gain accesses, because if they are able to obtain one part of the equation, say the part that someone knows, they must also obtain the second part which is something that person has or is. Without these two separate keys, the unauthorized user won t be able to unlock the door and obtain access to the organizations information resources. Although implementing a multi factor authentication solution can be relatively expensive and time consuming. So if the organization chooses to stay with a single factor authentication system, then they need to implement a strict password policy that requires complex passwords, along ... Compare And Contrast This Is Water By David Foster Wallace There were two pieces of text I recently read, one is This is water by David Foster Wallace, and the other is Letters to a young poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. I will be discussing the contrast between these two texts and tell the audience what they were precisely thinking about. For Wallace, his passed commencement speech to share advice to people who here at a college graduation. In his speech, he delivered the reality of how a typical adult life goes. His statement also talked about decision making, and how all choices will impact our future growth. On the other hand, Rilke conveys his ideas by writing the letter to one military student named Franz Xaver Kappus. In the letter to a young poet, I mostly focused on letter eight, because he pays attention to solitude and how it is essential to be a real artist. It is only through solitude that he will learn personal truths, he told Kappus that he needs to trust his feelings and to face the difficulty. Rilke talked about solitude in letter eight. As I grow older, I gradually understand that everything will not be smooth, it is hard. There will be many things we cannot avoid, such as solitude. Nowadays, solitude has already become a regular phenomenon in our daily life. For example, when I walk on the street, I always see a person walking alone, eating alone, shopping alone, or even goes to concerts alone. The origins of transcendentalism date back to sixteenth and seventeenth century New England, when Puritanism first emerged as a call for furthering perfection of the Protestant Reform (Bremer and Webster 13). Origins of Transcendentalism The emergence of transcendentalism is largely attributed to the religious reform movement of Puritanism that began in the late sixteenth century in New England. The foundational beliefs of Puritanism paralleled with those of Calvinism, and strongly contrasts with those of the transcendentalists. For example, the Puritans emphasized theocracy based on the bible, as well as salvation, material wealth, and man s dominance over nature. Contrastingly, the transcendentalists believed in democracy based on intuition, the simplification of every day life, and man being one with nature. Unitarianism also gave rise to transcendentalism, as the Unitarian church took more of an anti Calvinist approach which appealed to the transcendentalists. The founders of transcendentalism were Unitarian intellectuals of the middle and upper classes of eastern Massachusetts, who took a strong interest in moral reform. Initially, they looked to Unitarians as teachers, however, they eventually challenged the important principles of the Unitarian church. These transcendentalists not only challenged the Unitarian doctrines that were taught at Harvard Divinity School, but they protested against the general aspects of society and intellectualism. Police brutality against minorities has specifically brought attention to this subject. Researchers have been studying racial prejudice in everyday life, police interactions with civilians, and in the courtroom. Researchers studied racial prejudice in everyday interactions. These simple interactions can help us understand how to improve the criminal justice system even before jurors step into the courtroom. Lowery, Hardin, and Sinclair (2001) wanted to know if the race of the experimenter would elicit automatic racial prejudice from participants. The results showed that when the experimenter was Black and the participants were White, there were fewer anti Black answers, meaning that there were less negative association with Black names or faces on the test they completed . Asians, on the other hand, did not hide their biases. When the anti bias instructions were received, Whites and Asians had similar results.
