The African American Many Rivers We Cross Summary
Episode 5 titled Rise of the PBS series The African Americans Many Rivers We Cross , tells the
story of black Americans fighting for their rights. In this essay I am going to talk about key events
that took place, and my thoughts about them.
We first start of in the 1940 s where black Americans pursued economic opportunity in Chicago
through the Auto Industry. Where they could be paid a steady wage job. African Americans were
given the most dangerous jobs located in the foundry. A time in the middle of World War 2, where
due to labor demand the assembly line became integrated. Where segregation ran ramped, and they
was a lot of hatred toward blacks. In 1943 a race war broke out in Detroit. White Americans rioted,
abused, and destroyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He used the media in a way that would cause people to look at the unjust acts against the African
American citizens. Like in the case of the march on Selma. Where the visual impact of the brutality
towards African Americans caused an uproar. While Malcom X was a man who truly wanted to
confront the utter hypocrisy of what the government called law. And yet still have so much
inequality towards African Americans.
Then in 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. And
though this was passed into legislation the voting process were still rigged against African
Americans. A young man James Meredith began to walk along the south to spread awareness of
the challenges African Americans faced to vote. He was shot two days into his cause. The walk
was continued by Martin Luther King, and current SNCC leader Stokely Carmichael. This was the
beginning of a decline in nonviolent protest by Martin Luther King, and a more result driven
tactics by Stokely. Stokely Carmichael s approach to the civil rights movement. He wanted the
black Americans to embrace their rights and take their freedom. He starts to influence the people
with the phrase Black Power . You find the voice of the African American people change to a more

Flawed Intelligence Is Not Easily Measured
Itzamar Torres
Instructor Camielyn West
MCWP 40
08 February 2016
Flawed Intelligence Intelligence is not easily measured; there are many factors that influence the
way we determine whether or not someone is considered intelligent , and many more to rank who is
more intelligent than others. James R. Flynn, in his piece The Sociological Imagination, and Kevin
Warwick, in his work Into the Unknown, both share a common argument: intelligenceis subjective;
therefore, social and environmental context should be considered. Both authors expand on the idea
of nature versus nurture. Flynn s main claim is that the way that intelligence is measured is flawed
which is supported by his use of sub claims and evidence, such as intelligence is dependent on
social scenarios and that Jensen measures intelligence only through Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and
Reaction Times (RTs), in order to illustrate what happens when social awareness recedes into the
background, he offers 14 specific examples that also serve as reasons (181). Warwick extends on
Flynn s argument; his main claim is that within a particular group what is regarded as intelligence
is based on a general consensus, which naturally depends on the culture and values of that society
(199). Although they extend on each others arguments, they have a particular opposing view: Flynn
believes that IQ tests could be an accurate measurement of intelligence if social context was in
taken into account; yet Warwick believes this impossible

The Winter s Tale Essay
The present paper attempts to make an analysis of William Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale, an
Elizabethan tragicomedy and Harold Pinter s The Birthday Party, a modern tragicomedy. But
these are tragicomedies with a difference. The Winter s Tale moves from tragedy in the first half
to comedy in the second half. Things end well for all the major characters although there is
suffering and sadness and the loss of lives cannot be undone. The Birthday Party, on the other hand,
is a dark comedy. There is an aura of terror, revulsion and dread throughout. And things end on a
threatening and despairing note for the major character Stanley Webber who seems to have lost his
mental faculties in the end. Research Paper: As in The Tempest and Cymbeline,... Show more

The fact that Polixenes has been his childhood friend and a guest at his palace under his
protection does not deter him from making such a merciless order. When Polixenes and Camillo
flee and escape to Bohemia, Hermione becomes the innocent target of his baseless wrath.
Leontes snatches Mamillius from her and declares shamelessly that the child she is carrying is
not his but Polixenes s: Bear the boy hence; he shall not come about her; Away with him! and let
her sport herself With that she s big with; for tis Polixenes Has made thee swell thus. (The
Winter s Tale Act II Scene I 33) His paternal feelings of affection and protection for the child are
not aroused even when Paulina puts the child at his feet and he orders Antigonus to desert the
presumably illegitimate child though the Oracle of Apollo declares that: Hermione is chaste;
Polixenes blameless; Camillo a true subject; Leontes a jealous tyrant; his innocent babe truly
begotten; and the king shall live without an heir, if that which is lost be not found. (The Winter s

Aluminum Car Research Paper
If you currently own a vehicle that has an aluminum body rather than a body that is made out of
steel, you might like certain things about it, such as the fact that aluminum is a lighter metal that
can help you enjoy better fuel efficiency. However, you might have heard that the maintenance
process of your vehicleis a little different. These are a few tips that can help you maintain the
appearance of your aluminum bodied vehicle.
Keep an Eye on the Paint Job
Minor dents and scratches might not seem like a big deal, but they can cause your vehicle to be
much more prone to corrosion. Therefore, it s important to keep an eye out for any imperfections
that might pop up and to have them repaired as soon as possible. Then, you can ensure that your
vehicle has a good protective paint job to help prevent corrosion.
Park it in a Shelter
Since aluminum isn t quite as durable as steel, your vehicle could be more prone to dents than a
vehicle that is made out of steel. Therefore, you may want to consider parking your car in a garage

However, it s even more important to ask certain questions before taking a vehicle with an
aluminum body to a body repair shop. After all, aluminum is a completely different material to
work with, so you re going to want to find a body repair professional who is accustomed to
working on vehicles like yours. Additionally, specific types of equipment have to be used with
vehicles that have aluminum bodies, and aluminum and steel don t mix. This means that if
equipment that was used on a steel vehicle is used on your vehicle, corrosion can occur. Taking
the time to do your research to find a shop that has a lot of experience in working on vehicles with
aluminum bodies is important. You can also ask questions to find out more about how the people
who run the shop take steps to prevent corrosion from being an

My Future Speech
My future. My future will make everyone eat their words. They laugh now, but at the end they
will admire me. I wasn t placed in this world to be average. I am a fearless young man. I prove
others wrong and prove myself right. At the end of the day you gotta feel some way. So why not
feel unbeatable? Why not feel untouchable? Why not feel like the best to ever do it? The
Notorious Conor McGregor. Not only have I strengthened my confidence, but also I have paved
a clear road to my future because of my parents, soccer, and my inspirations. My parents
impacted my view on life. Since I can remember, they have always wanted nothing but the best
for me. For example, I always bring back the chats with my father after my soccer games. No
matter how well, or how many goals I had scored, my dad always had comments on what I could
ve done better in my game. His expressions made me wonder if he was ever proud of me;
however, looking back I just realized my father was my biggest fan and only wanted me to
perfect my skills. I am glad he was like that because now that is how I am with my little brother.
Also, my parents never raised me as a flashy or spoiled child, and I thank them so much for that.
As a kid you can question your parents ways of educating you, but when you grow up and analyze
everything you will truly understand why they did that. For example, I would always see my idols
on television with the most advanced and beautiful soccer cleats out there. Of course they are

My fellow Christians of Berea, I am here to put your fears at rest about what the Thessalonian
Jews have been telling you: for they do not know what they speak of. Jesus is the only son of our
Lord; He is the promised Messiah whom God has sent down to save us. Jesus Christ is the truth
and the light, we are the descendants and I have the knowledge and truth of the way to the Lord.
We can all be disciples of Jesus, living through His teachings and following His way. The

For forty days Jesus walked this Earth after being crucified and buried, locked in a tomb with an
enormous boulder. I have been tied to Jesus being the promised Messiah through my label as an
apostle. There is a large amount of evidence that proves Jesus is the Messiah and Lord of the
universe. The evidence is shown through the following facts: It was before your eyes that Jesus
Christ was publicly exhibited as crucified! Does God supply you with the Spirit and work
miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
(Probatio, 3:1 4:31). Jesus has said that he will grant relief if you are a believer in Him. Those
who do not obey or believe will suffer punishment for eternity and will be sent away from his
glorious throne. Those who believe in the testament will have eternal life in the kingdom of
Heaven. Second, Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day and appeared to
Peter and then to the other twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one
time, most are still alive today, though others have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all
the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me (1 Corinthians 15:3 8). As
previously stated, Jesus is the Messiah, so my fellow Berea Christians, Jews and Galatians, do not

Analysis Of The Killer At Thurston High
The online documentary filmed by Frontline, The Killer at Thurston High, goes into the life of
Kip Kinkel, leading up to him killing his parents, two fellow classmates and injuring 25 more.
This film examines Kip Kinkel s life, looking for clues that lead to him committing this mass
murder. Areas that were explored such as his upbringing, social life, his hobbies, and events that
led him to seeing a psychologist for depression. All of these areas that the documentary covered
show a gradual, consistent build up in concerning behavior. This documentary shows that there
were precursors leading up to these tragic events like the Thurston High shooting and the list of
troubling behavior that can lead to this. A common focus that was brought up numerus times in
the film was how Kip had difficulty doing things, compared to his sister or other his own age.
This was mentioned when his sister was interviewed. She stated the Kip would get confused
with certain letters. He was later diagnosed with dyslexia and was held back in first grade in
school. The result from Kip being held back was began to have some resentment towards his
parents. Also, that he was different from his peer group and felt less equal due to being held
back. This was the beginning of known areas of people who commit mass murder. While in
middle school Kip began to start getting into trouble in and out of school. He was picked on in
school. This lead to him wanting to take martial art classes even

Influence Of Soccer On American Culture
The Embracement of Soccer
The rest of the world lives and breathes soccer much like Americans live and breathe football.
The world embraces soccer because soccer brings people and their countries together. Nations
throughout the world come together for 90 minutes to see what nation will prevail so much so
that soccer is said to be the unofficial universal language throughout the world. But many people
in the U.S. have never watch a full soccer game in their lifetime. This is why U.S. will never
embrace the sport of soccer because of national dominance, money, and location unlike the rest of
the world. A lack of national team dominance within the U.S. is a major problem for the sport
soccer for many reasons. The first reason is due to the American culture about being the best. The
quote you have to beat the best before you can be the best is very true for the American culture.

Major Themes Of The Mahabhira s Mahbharata
In order to explain why Yudhisthira is tested and not his four brothers, one needs to understand the
major theme of the Mahbharata. In one of the final scenes of the Mahbharta Yudhisthira proves
himself and is rewarded with life after life. The best way to understand the importance of
Yudhisthira and his dog is to first summarize the story. Then the story can be interpreted to show
why this story exemplifies the major theme of the rest of the epic.
Despite the complexity and length of the Mahabharta, it seems to have one over arching theme.

Krishna calls Arjuna to take up his arms to fight and helps him realize the answer to his question of
the morality of taking up arms against one s kin.
The thing about Dharma is that it follows your status or your duty in life. This is important to
differentiate because there is a difference between the dharma of a warrior and the dharma of a
king. While in a traditional sense, dharma simply is an individual s responsibility to fulfill their
duties. The duties of a warrior and king are vastly different and so dharma can have diverse
ramifications to its application on an individual s life. A person s dharma is what is right for that
specific person to do but what is right for them might be an affront to someone else s dharma. A
range of factors such as caste, wealth or heritage combine to determine what constitutes dharma for
an individual. A good interpretation of this is that in a general sense dharma of the Kshatirya is
somewhat hypocritical. In a general sense, one s dharmatic duty in society to condemn violence
and taking of a life. However, the specific dharma of the warrior caste demands responsibility for
the kingdom and therefore requires as a duty the destruction of enemies. The explanation of this
dilemma is given extensively in the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita.
Where Arjuna, a hero, doubts fighting his cousins before consulting Krishna. Krishna explains that
there is a higher destiny for Arjuna and to choose

Why Horses Were Used During The Civil War
After reading the Tucker diary, I became extremely interested in how animals, specifically
horses, were being used during the Civil War. In Tucker s diary there is a page where it appears
he is taking inventory of the horses with him. I noticed that one of the tallies is crossed out, and
this made me wonder what sort of ailments or battle wounds horses faced. Also, the sheer amount
of horses that are accounted for must have been expensive to buy, and I wondered the cost of
horses during this time period. Lastly, I couldn t help but contemplate what role horses played in
winning battles or the war altogether. With these thoughts in mind I began to question how the
portrayal of horses in early American literature differed from how horses were actually treated and
used in the Civil War. I came to realize that horses in The Sovereignty and Goodness of God,
Shepard Lee, and Tucker s diary were all treated in the same way that historians say they were
used. In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, horses were used as a means of food in
desperation and as an effective way to transport people from place to place. While held in
captivity with the Nipmuc, Narragansett, and Wampanoag tribes, Rowlandson was moved around
by walking with the rest of the tribe, or by being placed on the back of a horse(Rowlandson 83).
Horses were the most common mode of transportation for soldiers for soldiers during the Civil War.
Throughout the course of the war, the North used 3.4 million horses and

Persuasive Essay On Childcare
Childcare
Childcare is the starting point in your children s lives. The choices you make on childcare can
affect them greatly. It is when they will begin to meet the friends that they will grow up with as
they go through grade school. Children need this step in their lives to adjust from staying at home,
to staying with other children in a completely different surrounding. There are so many different
options for childcare now a days, it is extremely hard to say which is the most beneficial for
children. In this paper I will discuss the childcare decisions that my mother made for me, what to
consider when evaluating childcare, and compare them to some of my references and see how they
are similar and also how they differ.

help the children by encouraging them to learn the basics such as manners, colors, and social skills.
Most importantly make sure that your child will have a safe and clean environment that they can
learn and grow in. The foundation for a clean and safe environment is so very important, you
should not have to worry about the wellbeing of you child while you are away. From the book
Improving Literacy in America: Guidelines from Research the author Frederick J. Morrison states
than As a more proximal source, early childhood care and education programs are seen as potent
weapons in the effort to improve children s literacy. If you do not take the precautions and insure
that your child will have the right start off to their education then yes it more than likely will end

Ecological Crisis Has Been Associated With The...
Ecology is a scientific study and analyses of the interaction between organisms and their immediate
environment. Therefore, ecological crisis has been considered as the misunderstanding that exists
between the environment and living organism particularly, the human race. The major ecological
crisis has been associated with the environmental pollution (Westra 122). Notably, raceand ethnicity
have been considered to be significant contributing factors to the ecological crisis than the
economic income and class. Ecological crisis has since led to racismparticularly in regions occupied
by different races. For instance, the affluent black communities have been associated with high
toxic environmental waste sites than the poorer whites. This notion was pegged on the fact that
more than 60% of the black American communities had at least a toxic waste site in their
boundaries (Westra 97). The statistic explains the poor health nature and lower life expectancies
among the affected black Americans.
Ecological racism has for many years been associated with people of the color who suffer from
unsatisfactory diets, exposure to pervasive pollutants, and second rate medical care. In some cases,
the children of these classes of citizens are subjected to unhealthy old paints and bad smelling air
from diesel fumes. These environmental conditions are highly demoralizing and source of stress to
the occupants (Westra 136). The environmental breakdown has underappreciated the lives of the

had a very distant and isolated relationship with Wilfred when he was alive as they never talked

Aim
The aim of the experiment was to observe the genetic transformation and determine the
transformation efficiency of the bacteria, E.Coli.
Introduction
Injection of DNA into cells which results in the inheritance of traits contained in the DNA injected
is known as genetic transformation (Lorenz et al, 1994). Genetic transformation that occurs
naturally has resulted in evolution. The efficiency and rate of exchange of genetic material can be
increased if both organisms use the same system of genetic information storage e.g. DNA plasmid
(Johnsborg et al, 2007). The bacteria E.Coli which are used in the experiment are sensitive to
antibiotic, they do not glow and are easily transformed (Dickson, 2008). Bacteria are single
celled which increases the result of an uptake of substance, and E.Coli have circular DNA or
better known as plasmids. These plasmids can be replicated and passed on to the next
generation. The plasmids added to the colonies will be used as the medium for insertion and
expression of the foreign DNA sequence (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, No Date). A gene
carrying the GFP or Green Fluorescent Protein is used in the experiment. GFP is found naturally
in the North American jellyfish, Aequorea Victoria, and is harmless hence leading to its usage as
a tool to study gene expression in an organism as they are easily visible (Dickson, 2008). GFP
causes an organism to glow under UV light.
Escherichia Coli or E.Coli is considered as a gram negative bacteria.

The Downfall Of Enron
This is a movie or rather a documentary on the downfall of Enron which was the seventh largest
company in the United States. It took 16 years for them to rise from 10 billion dollars of assets
to 65 billion dollars of assets and had managed to go bankrupt within a period of 24 days in 2001.
This led to the question of whether Enronis amidst an expensive scandal.
Some of the economic concepts that were identified in the documentary would be as follows.
First, Enron was built on the very concept of Mark to Market Accounting . Second, through
instruments like Special Purpose Entities and an Off Balance Sheet , Enron abused these
instruments to deceive investors by hiding relevant information required for the investors. Third, a
few aspects in the movie were based on Gregory Mankiw s ten principles of Economics. People
respond to incentives, trade makes people better off, how government can improve market
outcomes are few of the principles identified in this movie. The concept of Supply and Demand was
also identified in the movie.

It was earlier mentioned that the government should not interfere with the market as it would
affect the supply and demand. The government can interfere in situations of a market failure. One
possible way market failure is the market power. Market Power is basically the ability of a single
person or rather entity to unduly influence market prices. This is the very situation of Enron. Enron
has taken control over the electricity board and has unduly influenced the market prices by
reducing the electricity supplied. This is a perfect example of a market failure. Hence, the
government should ideally interfere in order to balance the prices between the demand and supply.
This is also a principle under the ten principles of economics which talks about How Government

Fiercely The Red Sun Descending Burned His Way Among The...
Fiercely the Red Sun Descending Burned His Way Among the Heavens, was painted by Thomas
Moran in 1875 1876. The artist s use of contrast between very cool colors to very warm colors
attracts attention to the sun and it s brightness in the painting. The painting is vivid, yet
impressionistic. The brushstrokes from the water to the rocky mountains are quite thin and small,
but those of the sun are deep, rich, and intense. The brightness and intensity create a blinding and
volcanic sun that appears to be setting the clouds above it on fire. Moran uses darker, inky colors
in the water to mute the background for a moment and allow the viewer to experience the sun in
its totality. As the viewer moves away from the sun and back to the water, he may notice the waves
are fervently crashing against the mountain and against each other. The painting overall evokes an
image of war and vengeance. Thomas Moran was influenced by many artists and ideas, but the
most important works that influenced him were the epic poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
and a singular painting by J. M. W. Turner.

Turner s artwork. Though, Turner was truly an Englishman, he was known as American Turner
by many artists, and was admired as such. In 1862, Moran traveled to England to see and study
Turner s work. Upon seeing the work above, Slave Ship, created by Turner in 1840, Moran was
inspired by both the malevolence of the sun and the twist it had on the history of the painting.
J.M.W. Turner heightened the malevolence of the story by marshaling all the forces of nature a
roiling, inky sea, a livid sun, and an angry, incendiary sky creating a setting fit for the Apocalypse .
With this painting and the literature of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Moran moved to paint

Persuasive Essay On Colon Cancer
Colonoscopy: Your Colon Cancer Fighter At one time or another, you will most likely get a
colonoscopy. It s not going to be necessarily enjoyable, but it is preventing you from getting colon
cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer deaths. Furthermore, this year it s expected to claim
the lives of nearly 50,000 people in the United States. All for something that is largely preventable
if you take the right action!
Colonoscopies are the most common way to detect colon cancer. Therefor doctors recommend
regular screening tests every 10 years, but people with higher risk, such as a family history with
the disease or old age may need to go in more frequently. Normally people should begin
screenings at age 50 but people with an increased risk or signs of symptoms, should talk to their
doctor about the best plan. Consequently, most people don t think they need to go in because
they don t show any symptoms, it s money for something they probably don t even have, or they
think since no one else in their family has had it, their safe, but they re actually excuses for
something that could help save you from the grueling pains of colon cancer. For those of you, I

Karma In The Japanese Tales
In the Japanese Tales, translated by Royall Tyler, the observation that animals function as agent of
karma is valid. Aside from this motif, snakes can be portrayed with a broad range of abilities and
personalities in order to teach Buddhist values. Within these many Buddhist values are themes of
karma and lustthat teach a moral lesson, which gives snakes a paradoxical characterization. This
essay will show the complexity in characterization of snakes in order to express karmic

Essay on Space Shuttle Ethics Case Study
One of the greatest tragedies in history occurred on January 8, 1986. Shortly after it was launched,
the space shuttle Challenger exploded, killing seven astronauts, including Christa McAuliffe, a
New Hampshire schoolteacher chosen to be the first teacher in space ( Challenger Disaster, n.d.).
The explosion was caused by a failure of the O rings of the solid rocket boosters. The O rings were
unable to seat properly, causing the leaking of hot combustion gases, which burnt through the
external fuel tank. The malfunction was not any one person s or organization s fault; it was caused
by many factors including the decision to launch despite the cold weather, the poor communication

Buying A New Home Market
The choice to purchase a new home in today s market is very challenging to make after
considering the disadvantages and the advantages. The current real estate market decides that
today is the excellent time to buy a house as prices and the interest rate are still low. Sadly, many
economic signals reveal that the real estate market may not have reached the bottom yet and more
losses might be in store for the near future. The choice to buy real estate should be meticulously

In this position, buyers have a provisional advantage over sellers because buyers can demand
incentives from sellers to close the transaction or find another agreeable seller. The opportunity
cost, or whatever someone is willing to give up in exchange for what he or she wants, is
typically basic because the buyer can simply find another house that meets his or her needs. The
opportunity cost for sellers in this market are typically very high as they may waste time with
buyers who do not intend to buy their property; time is very important to sellers, but not as
important to buyers in this type of market. Sellers are typically highly motivated to sell and can
easily become desperate to sell a home quickly in a buyer s market; buyers can easily take
advantage of a seller in trouble. In a seller s market, buyers stand to lose haggling power such as
seller improvements that could help buyers with closing costs because the number of homes
available for purchase isn t as many; buyers will have limited choices of homes for sale. In this
position, sellers have a provisional advantage over buyers because sellers can demand full price,
cash only, and zero incentive to close the transaction. The opportunity cost is typically essential for
sellers in this market because they can simply wait for the right buyer to bid on convenient homes

Discussion I. Can our client satisfy the first requirement for a malicious prosecution suit that
requires that the termination of the earlier suit be in the plaintiff s favor when in our client s case

about her claim?
To meet the first element favorable termination a plaintiffcannot rely on a settlement of the case that

The judgment entered by the trial court on the motion to dismiss was reversed because a
termination must be in favor of the person against whom civil proceedings are brought.
To have an action for malicious prosecution, our client must prove that a favorable termination has
taken place. In the Colli case it establishes that a voluntary dismissal without prejudice of a will
contest is a favorable termination. In the Frey case it is stated that when a termination or dismissal
indicates in some fashion that the accused is innocent of wrongdoing it is a favorable termination.
Also a termination without a trial on the merits may be a favorable termination of litigation if the
circumstances indicate the innocence or freedom from liability of the defendant. In a case where
there is no adjunction on the merits the existence of favorable termination of the prior proceeding,

Forgiveness Found in Poetry, Drama, and Fiction

one. Remarkably, I found in each of the genres explored insightful and supportive content from each
unit that has enabled me to hone in and accept my humanity as a parent. Connecting with characters
from each genrebrought about a significant awareness and sensitivity. Regardless of geographical
location, date in time, structure of society, gender, race, or age, it is refreshingly evident in the
midst of all the contrasts there is a commonality; we are all imperfect humans. Each genre
enhanced my credence of making mistakes as we go through this journey of life, it is clear we
struggle not only as humans but more significantly, for this reader, as parents. Parents attempt do
what is felt to be right for their children with well meant intentions. Unfortunately, this sometimes
becomes more of a learning process for the parents involving mistakes for which we need
forgiveness. At times greater mercy is required when our flawed human nature is revealed by our
mistaken repetition of the mistake, which can create a greater burden adding regret. I find myself
sympathetically identifying with these characters, as they too walk the bumpy road of when your
best isn t good enough. Frequently while reading I found myself thinking or muttering I am not

Why Prostitution Should Be Legalize Prostitution
The act of engaging in sexual activity or intercourse in exchange for payment defines prostitution.
The widely known view of prostitution continues to persist along the lines of immoral, unhealthy,
violent, and discriminating. Many countries criminalize prostitution with the intentions of
eliminating the problem altogether. This, in fact, drove prostitutionunderground making the
problem even messier. No matter the view, the sex work industry will always have a demand. The
networth of prostitution outweighs America s illegal drug and gun trade combined. Therefore,
prostitution isn t going anywhere and remains one of the oldest professions in history. Many
countries have already legalized prostitution including Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Austria, and
Belgium. In doing so, these countries have the capability to maintain a proper work environment
and provide health regulations among many other things. Prostitution should be legalized to ensure
the medical safety of the prostitutes and their clients. Due to the criminalization of prostitution,
prostitutes generally have a higher risk of transferring sexually transmitted diseases. A sexually
transmitted disease, or STD, are diseases or infections that can only travel through a sexual act.
Prostitutes make money from having sex with other people and in order to become prosperous,
they must have sex with several different people. Many clients also refuse to use condoms. The
prostitute will usually be offered more money if they participate in the sexual act without the use of
a condom. Condoms are proven to be highly successful in preventing someone from contracting or
spreading an STD according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. If infected, many
prostitutes are unaware of their condition because they can t afford to visit a healthcare professional
or carry health insurance. The combination of a prostitutes tendency to exchange sexual intercourse
with multiple people and the client s refusal to use condoms opens the prostitute to a greater
possibility of transmitting an STD. Since a medical check up isn t financially an option or required
for the prostitutes, the prostitute may potentially be spreading an STD to their client unknowingly.

which class bullying cases were reported most often they said Form Four. We then did a survey in
the form to find out who has been bullied before to do stratified sampling. This was done this way
because it would not have been efficient and effective to give questionnaires to students who are not

interviews with the questionnaires. This was to ensure that the information that was collected from

The United States must make hard decisions as conflict arises between the United States and the
Soviet Union. After World War II, the US began to have conflicting views with the Soviet Union
which caused a series of proxy wars, one of them occurring in Vietnam. The Soviet Union was
trying to make Vietnam one of their satellite nations, a nation that is aligned and under the
influence of the Soviet Union, while the US wanted to stop the Soviet Union s influence on other
nations. There were differing view on whether or not the US should intervene in vietnam. An

with the deaths of many innocent Vietnamese people as long as his own selfish goal of stopping
communism was achieved. Pyle did not care about the Vietnamese people because he pushed
them aside and said that he was doing to for democracy. In the Nation Magazine s Puppets and
Patriots, they criticized the US on how it was put into a position which has become almost
habitual, the position of giving support moral, diplomatic, financial to a regime whose only
virtue is its anti communism (Puppets). Nation Magazine s purpose in writing this was to expose
the US selfish motives and is shown by their critical tone. This is significant because it shows that
the US would support poor leaders, including Diem, who had little support from the vietnamese.
This proves how Fowlers perspective was more justified because Pyle did not care about the well
being of the Vietnamese and chose to support General ThГ© even after seeing the damage that he

The case of 44 Liquormart, Inc. vs.
Rhode Island upholds the industry s commercial free speech rights by insuring that beverage alcohol
is allowed the same protection under the First Amendment as other legal products and services.
In addition, the Courts also ruled that truthful and non misleading advertising is an essential part of
the free enterprise system. Withholding this form of advertising deprives the consumers of
knowledge that is needed to make conscious and informed decisions.
Federal Regulations
Advertising hard liquor on TV is a constitutionally protected right, however, the industry must
follow strict Federal regulations. An advertisement of distilled spirits can not contain any false or
misleading statement that tends to create a misleading impression of the product to the consumer.
Furthermore, a statement in an advertisement cannot say anything bad about a competitor s
product. Provisions are made also for a statement s design that cannot contain any material that is
obscene or indecent.
Federal regulations do not permit claims of distilled spirits having curative or therapeutic qualities.
This practice was very popular in the 1800 s and early
1900 s. Traveling salespersons would often stage a show in the middle of small towns claiming a
miracle cure for various sicknesses. Most often, the cure would involve alcohol consumption
causing the consumer to become intoxicated.
This advertising was false and misleading.

The Strict Liability Theory
The Strict Liability Theory Introduction Strict Liability in simplistic terms can imply an individual
or company being liable for their deeds, conducts and outcomes that result in damages to others. A
personal complaint of injury for a strict liability case is not as a consequence of a foreplanned
action or careless deed (Boatright, 2012). The respondent s action should have triggered strict
liability and that the complainant suffered harm. In fact, one cannot understand what strict liability
in the criminal law means, in the same token understand why it is considered unorthodox and
morally dyslogistic. The respondent s responsibility and blameworthiness, or mental fault should be

Lastly, the owner knew or should have recognized the animal s specific solicitude (Alabama injury
law advisor, 2009). In a case involving a domestic animal, the owner is most certainly liable only if
he has prior knowledge that his animal has dangerous behaviors and mannerisms. The First bite rule
states that the owner is accountable for the second occasion that his animal bites somebody, but not
the first instance it bites. Aberrantly Dangerous Activity Strict liability is a certainty for all such
activities that involve more or less so substantial risk of harm in their functionality and performance.
If the respondent engages in any array of activities and fortuitously and non negligently causes harm
to the complainant, he or she is strictly liable. Must be remembered, this is subject to a few
limitations that are beyond the jurisdiction of Strict Liability Theory. Essentially, abnormally
dangerous activities include all activities related to nuclear reactors, explosives, crop spraying and
many others (CantГє, 2002). At present, for ascertaining the extent to which an activity is
abnormally dangerous, the courts focus their emphasis on the following factors. Firstly, the high
degree of risk of harm to person or property. Secondly, the attributable gravity of the damage to the
activity and whether a party responsible cannot perform the activity with complete safety.
Moreover, the limits to which the activity is

Well obviously Bertrande and Arnaud du Tilh had intercourse since they conceived a child. Even

her bedmate with the jaded perspective expressed in the notorious masculine slur, De nuit tous

Themes in The Invisible Man by H.G Wells

how excessive greed can have unintended consequences. The main character, Griffin, goes mad

Unknown Organic Compounds
Organic Compounds contain Carbon, a versatile bonding element due to its ability to form four
stable bonds. They can be separated from mixtures and identified through Thin Layer
Chromatography (TLC). TLC is a simple, and rapid analytical technique that provides qualitative
information about a sample. It is based on the principle that different compounds will have different
attractions to the stationary and mobile phases. Typically, already characterized compounds can be
identified chemically. This allows scientists to determine if compounds have desirable structures,
and if reaction conditions of unwanted products can be altered. However, with complex compounds
that were never characterized, this process is insufficient. Instead, IR Spectroscopy is used. It
measures the vibrations of bonds, producing a spectrum of the different energies absorbed by the
molecule. By comparing the energies with standard correlation values, the identity of an unknown
compound can be determined. In this experiment, the identity of an unknown organic compound
will be determined using these methods. Procedure:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The solution was placed into a separation funnel, in which the top and bottom layers were slowly
filtered out into two different beakers. The bottom layer solution was heated until the ethyl acetate
evaporated and only the organic compound remained. Next, a TLC technique was prepared
employing silica gel as the stationary phase and 1:1 ethyl acetate hexane as the mobile phase. In
order to develop a standard, a TLC plate was spotted with benzoic acid (BA), benzophenone (BZ),
biphenyl (BI), and a mixture off the three. After incubating the plate in the chamber with the mobile
phase, it was analyzed under a UV light. Then, the Rf values for the known compounds were
calculated using the Retention Factor

Essay On Women In Romeo And Juliet
INTRODUCTION
Though women were unexceptional to men, women in diverse classes had changed conquerors.
Low class women were expected to be housewives and take care of everything to do with the
house. The expectation of working class women was a little bit different. These women were
likely to work for their husbands and benefit them run their business. They would work beside
with their husbands and then go home and take care of the house hold. Some women were
permitted to work small jobs as leather workers, fabric merchants, or as assistants to bakers. In
rare cases, the wife of a merchant would take over her husband s position and duties after he died.
This didn t put the woman on equal footing, however, women were paid much less than a man
doing the same type of job. Even a Renaissance merchant woman was expected to remain silent
unless spoken to, avoid all discussions of religion or politics, and to attend to the duties of their
husbands business and household.
Women were often in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marriages were regularly settled by the families of the bride and the groom in direction for both
sides to profit from one another. In Romeo and Juliet, the two lovers families disliked one
another, which was one of the reasons they could not be together. But, an you will not bond, I m
sorry ./ Scratch where you will, you shall not line with me. / An you be not, fall, request, go
hungry, die in the streets,/ For by my soul, I ll ne er acknowledge thee,/ Nor what is mine shall
never do thee good. (Act 3 Scene 5). This obvious quote was said by Capulet; Juliet s father. He s
basically encouraging that if Juliet refuses to marry Paris, he will completely harshness her and
have nothing to do with her from that point forward. This shows that women indeed did not have
any say back then. Even though Juliet wanted to marry Romeo; her parents refused to let her do

How Not Deal With An Identity Crisis
How Not To Deal With an Identity Crisis Identity is a common trope in most literature. One
reason this maybe is because it is a very relatable topic, as many people also struggle with their
identity. Having an identity crisis to mean many different things. It can mean struggling with
inner demons, being what other people expect and not who one is, or trying to find out where
one belongs in the world. Everyone can say that they felt like this at one time or another in their
lives. Sometimes struggling with identity can cause rash decisions with negative outcomeS.
Many people struggle with identity and deal with it in different ways including the characters in
these books. I m times people do with identity in the wrong way and try to separate themselves
into different embodiments of themselves. Typically, there is a nice and respectable side that
many people are fond of, and there is also a dark and twisted side that most people don t see.
This is the case with Dr. Jekyll. Dr. Jekyll felt that he needed to take a potion to transform
himself into something else so that he could act on his urges that would otherwise make him feel
guilty make others think less of him. Jekyll actually liked being Hyde. When I would come back
from these excursions, I was often plunged into a kind of wonder at my vicarious depravity. This
familiar that I called out of my own soul, and sent forth alone to do his good pleasure, was a being
inherently malign and villainous; his every act and

Gum Disease
How Do I Know If I Have Gum Disease?
Gum disease starts with bacteria invading the mouth. It can eventually result in tooth loss because
of the receding tissue that surrounds the teeth and loosens the teeth. Serious gum disease is
preceded by gingivitis, which can be identified by inflamed and bleeding gums. It is important to
know that gingivitis can be reversed and can heal completely by keeping up with brushing and
flossing.
The signs of gum disease are:
Bleeding gums, especially when they are irritated by brushing.
Swollen and tender gums.
Bad breath.
A bad taste in your mouth.
Receding gums.
Deep pockets forming between teeth and gums.
Loose teeth.

Cambodian Genocide Research Paper
To many Americans the Cambodian Genocide was the most unknown genocide that took place. Just
like the catastrophic event known as the Rwandan Genocide, this genocide is also not known. The
Khmer Rouge committed the same crimes. Some of their murderous methods were very similar.
During this time the Khmer Rougeput local Cambodians in prison, hospitals, and some schools to
be executed or just to stay there to slowly suffer and eventually die. The Khmer Rouge was a
ruthless party led by Pol Potthat killed many Cambodians in a gruesome fashion known as the
Cambodian Genocide, using methods such as torture and starvation, which led to execution.

Somewhere around 2 million people died by starvation, torture, or having been executed. Most
Cambodians as a child starved in house after the genocide. As a world leader President Nixon
didn t help out Cambodians with food and medical supplies because USA was at war with
Vietnam and Vietnam was allied with Cambodia. Quoted from world info, The international Red
Cross had supplied emergency rations to the refugees. (Mitchell) This organization is the only
one that aids with some supplies. With a lot of people died in Cambodia because of starvation is
not acceptable for day and past or even future generations. The Khmer Rouge tortured local
Cambodians because either they had a higher education or they were rich. The Rouge tortured the
Cambodians by working them until they died or until they caught a disease and died by that.
They liked to work them at the plantations and other crops so they could profit from them. All the
helpless men, woman, and children that did farming for a living never got to see their family
every again. Their dad, mom, brothers, or even sisters were gone forever from their lives and not a
single trace about them left for you to love. That is what some Cambodians felt when the liberation

The International Relations Theory That Best
The international relations theory that best explains Operation Provide Comfort would be the
constructivist theory. However, Turkey s involvement in the operation may also be explained
through subaltern realism. The fact that the nations that comprised the coalition, save for Turkey,
conducting Operation Provide Comfort went through the official channel of the UN shows that the
intention was to act within the norms of the international community for conducting humanitarian
interventions. Had the US decided to act unilaterally, without permission from the other states
involved or the UN, it strongly indicate that the US self interests superseded those of the global
community. Furthermore, the coalition of western powers respected Turkey s sovereignty by
keeping the refugees at the border and providing aid in refugee camps there. Respecting a nations
sovereignty, or giving reasonable cause for violating it, is an essential portion of constructivism as
it indicates that states respect the artificially implemented restraints on themselves that they have
set up. Beyond the evidence that strongly suggests that OPC was conducted in the sphere of
constructivism, there is little evidence that would support any other international relations theory.
In a constructivists perspective, the mission devolved from an international system based operation
to a more realists military intervention when it became Operation Norther Watch (to compliment
Operation Southern Watch.) This idea is

International Student And High Tuition Essay
Studying with those from another background other than our own provides opportunities for
greater discovery, understanding, and cooperation. International students bring a variety of ideas
and new perspectives to the classroom, aiding in the educational process for all and are an
important component to many universities campus climate. Beyond the important cultural
components they bring to campus, International students are also a source of high tuition revenue
for universities. Students are often charged multiple times the rate of tuition that in state domestic
students pay, such as the Universityof Washington, where international students pay almost three
times as much per year (Lewin, 2012). The retention and graduation rates of all students are
important to universities; however, research on international studentpersistence has largely been
missing in the literature (Andrade 2009; Andrade and Evans 2009). Interestingly enough, the
Institute of International Education (IIE) and other government agencies do not report data on
international studentpersistence rates (Evans et al, 2009). The majority of universities report their
student graduation and retention rates on their websites, with many universities including their
percentages by ethnic groups; however, very few universities identify the specific rates for the
international student population. According to the IIE, the international student population in the
United States comprises only about 3.5% of the total

The Effects Of Ozone Depletion
The ozone depletion has been well documented to negatively affect planet Earth for years. The
ozone is a thin layer of the EarthВґs atmosphere which is responsible for absorbing the sun s
harmful ultraviolet light ( What is Ozone Layer?,2017). The loss of ozone on earth will take a toll
on human health, plants and marine ecosystems, ultimately resulting in a planet that does not
support living things. Today, this manifests in climate change. It is easy for many to confuse these
two issues, although they are connected in various ways. Loss of the ozone layer is caused by
greenhouse gases such as chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs (compounds with chlorine and/or fluorine
attached to carbon), as well as , halons (similar compounds with bromine or iodine) (Jain 2015).
These chemicals can stay in the atmospherefor up to 100 years causing damage(What is Ozone
Layer?,2017). Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, contribute to global warming, which then
contributes to climate change by warming the surface and waters. These factors are resulting in a
domino effect on our environment. Climate change is classified as an abrupt increase in the Earths
temperatures typically caused by human activity (National Aeronautics Space Administration
2016). Human activities that release pollutants in our atmosphere are changing it and contributing
to global warming and ozone depletion. With all the knowledge, resources and tools invented for the
benefit of humans, one would think that these

educators because all they have to do is teach young kids how to read, write and do basic

All dressed in different colors, they performed together dancing to the beat of the songs sung.
There were two guys both dressed in white, while the girls all had on colorful outfits. This piece
kept the audience s attention because of all that was happening created an appealing visual for
people to watch. Eventually, the dancers left, leaving the A cappella group to set forward and
allowing them to perform separately. They performed a modern day song that according to the
pamphlet was released in the United Kingdom, and it turned out to be a song that was a chart
topper. The fourth performance can be described as poetry, danceand music all combined. This
section included three separate performances going onstage at the same time. There was dancing

Younge and Azuguno, and the poem part was spoken by Abla Dzifa Gomashie who moved

This piece captured the audience s attention by having separate events going onstage, so nothing
was ever still. The music dictated the pace of the dancing on stage. Eventually, once the music
picked up so did the dancing and the speaking on stage. More towards the end of the performance
both women on stage began to dance

Our Culture Is One That Is More Prone To Speak Rather Than
Our culture is one that is more prone to speak rather than listen and when we listen the majority of
us are listening to reply and not listening to understand. Listening is a vital interpersonal skill and it
supports us in the ability to communicate and interact with people. (Dean, 1997) There are many
different types of listening and in this essay I will seek to cover the many aspects to Empathetic
listening , such as, what exactly is Empathetic listening, the importance of Empathetic listening,

(Dean, 1997). Empathetic listeners must pay attention to the speaker with their entire presence and
avoid being distracted from the outside interruptions include focusing on their own response. For
Example, the listener should, lean forward, maintain close eye contact, take time to understand the
speaker s words, ask for clarification, repeat a phrase or word, and express genuine concern.
Additionally, the speaker should pay close attention to the speaker s overall communication, such
as, body language, thoughts and feelings. (Hagevik, 1999). As quoted in Hicks, 2016, The context
of the person s story is like watching a movie in black and white, listening for feeling adds the
colour. For successful empathetic listening, the listener needs to listen to understand rather than
listening to reply. (Dean, 1997). Furthermore, an empathetic listener must listen from the heart so
they can develop a real understanding for the speaker s words and emotions. (Hagevik, 1999). To
develop progression and a close relationship between the listener and the speaker Dr Rogers
believes that empathetic listening is an essential key in communication as the speaker may feel as
though someone does care about them and their issues as they are finally being heard and
understood.

  • 2. The African American Many Rivers We Cross Summary Episode 5 titled Rise of the PBS series The African Americans Many Rivers We Cross , tells the story of black Americans fighting for their rights. In this essay I am going to talk about key events that took place, and my thoughts about them. We first start of in the 1940 s where black Americans pursued economic opportunity in Chicago through the Auto Industry. Where they could be paid a steady wage job. African Americans were given the most dangerous jobs located in the foundry. A time in the middle of World War 2, where due to labor demand the assembly line became integrated. Where segregation ran ramped, and they was a lot of hatred toward blacks. In 1943 a race war broke out in Detroit. White Americans rioted, abused, and destroyed ... Where the visual impact of the brutality towards African Americans caused an uproar. While Malcom X was a man who truly wanted to confront the utter hypocrisy of what the government called law. And yet still have so much inequality towards African Americans. Then in 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. And though this was passed into legislation the voting process were still rigged against African Americans. A young man James Meredith began to walk along the south to spread awareness of the challenges African Americans faced to vote. He was shot two days into his cause. The walk was continued by Martin Luther King, and current SNCC leader Stokely Carmichael. This was the beginning of a decline in nonviolent protest by Martin Luther King, and a more result driven tactics by Stokely. Stokely Carmichael s approach to the civil rights movement. He wanted the black Americans to embrace their rights and take their freedom. He starts to influence the people with the phrase Black Power . You find the voice of the African American people change to a more self conscious of what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Flawed Intelligence Is Not Easily Measured Itzamar Torres Instructor Camielyn West MCWP 40 08 February 2016 Flawed Intelligence Intelligence is not easily measured; there are many factors that influence the way we determine whether or not someone is considered intelligent , and many more to rank who is more intelligent than others. James R. Flynn, in his piece The Sociological Imagination, and Kevin Warwick, in his work Into the Unknown, both share a common argument: intelligenceis subjective; therefore, social and environmental context should be considered. Both authors expand on the idea of nature versus nurture. Flynn s main claim is that the way that intelligence is measured is flawed which is supported by his use of sub claims and evidence, such as intelligence is dependent on social scenarios and that Jensen measures intelligence only through Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Reaction Times (RTs), in order to illustrate what happens when social awareness recedes into the background, he offers 14 specific examples that also serve as reasons (181). Warwick extends on Flynn s argument; his main claim is that within a particular group what is regarded as intelligence is based on a general consensus, which naturally depends on the culture and values of that society (199). Although they extend on each others arguments, they have a particular opposing view: Flynn believes that IQ tests could be an accurate measurement of intelligence if social context was in taken into account; yet Warwick believes this impossible ... • 5. The Winter s Tale Essay The present paper attempts to make an analysis of William Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale, an Elizabethan tragicomedy and Harold Pinter s The Birthday Party, a modern tragicomedy. But these are tragicomedies with a difference. The Winter s Tale moves from tragedy in the first half to comedy in the second half. Things end well for all the major characters although there is suffering and sadness and the loss of lives cannot be undone. The Birthday Party, on the other hand, is a dark comedy. There is an aura of terror, revulsion and dread throughout. And things end on a threatening and despairing note for the major character Stanley Webber who seems to have lost his mental faculties in the end. Research Paper: As in The Tempest and Cymbeline,... I am a fearless young man. I prove others wrong and prove myself right. At the end of the day you gotta feel some way. So why not feel unbeatable? Why not feel untouchable? Why not feel like the best to ever do it? The Notorious Conor McGregor. Not only have I strengthened my confidence, but also I have paved a clear road to my future because of my parents, soccer, and my inspirations. My parents impacted my view on life. Since I can remember, they have always wanted nothing but the best for me. For example, I always bring back the chats with my father after my soccer games. No matter how well, or how many goals I had scored, my dad always had comments on what I could ve done better in my game. His expressions made me wonder if he was ever proud of me; however, looking back I just realized my father was my biggest fan and only wanted me to perfect my skills. I am glad he was like that because now that is how I am with my little brother. Also, my parents never raised me as a flashy or spoiled child, and I thank them so much for that. As a kid you can question your parents ways of educating you, but when you grow up and analyze everything you will truly understand why they did that. For example, I would always see my idols on television with the most advanced and beautiful soccer cleats out there. Of course they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Fellow Christians Of Berea My fellow Christians of Berea, I am here to put your fears at rest about what the Thessalonian Jews have been telling you: for they do not know what they speak of. Jesus is the only son of our Lord; He is the promised Messiah whom God has sent down to save us. Jesus Christ is the truth and the light, we are the descendants and I have the knowledge and truth of the way to the Lord. We can all be disciples of Jesus, living through His teachings and following His way. The Thessalonian Jews know not what they do; yet they are eager to dispute my way of addressing Jesus teachings. In order to inherit God s heavenly promises we must first lead a life that God would be happy about. Serving others in a positive way in order to create peace... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For forty days Jesus walked this Earth after being crucified and buried, locked in a tomb with an enormous boulder. I have been tied to Jesus being the promised Messiah through my label as an apostle. There is a large amount of evidence that proves Jesus is the Messiah and Lord of the universe. The evidence is shown through the following facts: It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly exhibited as crucified! Does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? (Probatio, 3:1 4:31). Jesus has said that he will grant relief if you are a believer in Him. Those who do not obey or believe will suffer punishment for eternity and will be sent away from his glorious throne. Those who believe in the testament will have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Second, Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day and appeared to Peter and then to the other twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most are still alive today, though others have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me (1 Corinthians 15:3 8). Analysis Of Why Pluto Had To Go The articles Why Pluto had to go Pluto should not be a planet, and War of the Worlds argued that Pluto argued that the object in space, Pluto should be a planet. And we now know that Planet X never existed, the product of some subtle errors in some century old mathematical calculations. While the first eight planets all rule their orbits, (Gaensler 37 39.) Gaensler says in article that Pluto should not have been started as a planet because of subtle errors in some century old mathematical calculations. Krishna calls Arjuna to take up his arms to fight and helps him realize the answer to his question of the morality of taking up arms against one s kin. The thing about Dharma is that it follows your status or your duty in life. This is important to differentiate because there is a difference between the dharma of a warrior and the dharma of a king. While in a traditional sense, dharma simply is an individual s responsibility to fulfill their duties. The duties of a warrior and king are vastly different and so dharma can have diverse ramifications to its application on an individual s life. A person s dharma is what is right for that specific person to do but what is right for them might be an affront to someone else s dharma. A range of factors such as caste, wealth or heritage combine to determine what constitutes dharma for an individual. A good interpretation of this is that in a general sense dharma of the Kshatirya is somewhat hypocritical. In a general sense, one s dharmatic duty in society to condemn violence and taking of a life. However, the specific dharma of the warrior caste demands responsibility for the kingdom and therefore requires as a duty the destruction of enemies. • 17. Why Horses Were Used During The Civil War After reading the Tucker diary, I became extremely interested in how animals, specifically horses, were being used during the Civil War. In Tucker s diary there is a page where it appears he is taking inventory of the horses with him. I noticed that one of the tallies is crossed out, and this made me wonder what sort of ailments or battle wounds horses faced. Also, the sheer amount of horses that are accounted for must have been expensive to buy, and I wondered the cost of horses during this time period. Lastly, I couldn t help but contemplate what role horses played in winning battles or the war altogether. With these thoughts in mind I began to question how the portrayal of horses in early American literature differed from how horses were actually treated and used in the Civil War. I came to realize that horses in The Sovereignty and Goodness of God, Shepard Lee, and Tucker s diary were all treated in the same way that historians say they were used. In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, horses were used as a means of food in desperation and as an effective way to transport people from place to place. While held in captivity with the Nipmuc, Narragansett, and Wampanoag tribes, Rowlandson was moved around by walking with the rest of the tribe, or by being placed on the back of a horse(Rowlandson 83). Horses were the most common mode of transportation for soldiers for soldiers during the Civil War. Throughout the course of the war, the North used 3.4 million horses and ... Therefore, ecological crisis has been considered as the misunderstanding that exists between the environment and living organism particularly, the human race. The major ecological crisis has been associated with the environmental pollution (Westra 122). Notably, raceand ethnicity have been considered to be significant contributing factors to the ecological crisis than the economic income and class. Ecological crisis has since led to racismparticularly in regions occupied by different races. This notion was pegged on the fact that more than 60% of the black American communities had at least a toxic waste site in their boundaries (Westra 97). The statistic explains the poor health nature and lower life expectancies among the affected black Americans. Ecological racism has for many years been associated with people of the color who suffer from unsatisfactory diets, exposure to pervasive pollutants, and second rate medical care. • 21. How The Genetic Transformation And Determine The... Aim The aim of the experiment was to observe the genetic transformation and determine the transformation efficiency of the bacteria, E.Coli. Introduction Injection of DNA into cells which results in the inheritance of traits contained in the DNA injected is known as genetic transformation (Lorenz et al, 1994). Genetic transformation that occurs naturally has resulted in evolution. The efficiency and rate of exchange of genetic material can be increased if both organisms use the same system of genetic information storage e.g. DNA plasmid (Johnsborg et al, 2007). The bacteria E.Coli which are used in the experiment are sensitive to antibiotic, they do not glow and are easily transformed (Dickson, 2008). Bacteria are single celled which increases the result of an uptake of substance, and E.Coli have circular DNA or better known as plasmids. These plasmids can be replicated and passed on to the next generation. The plasmids added to the colonies will be used as the medium for insertion and expression of the foreign DNA sequence (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, No Date). A gene carrying the GFP or Green Fluorescent Protein is used in the experiment. GFP is found naturally in the North American jellyfish, Aequorea Victoria, and is harmless hence leading to its usage as a tool to study gene expression in an organism as they are easily visible (Dickson, 2008). GFP causes an organism to glow under UV light. Escherichia Coli or E.Coli is considered as a gram negative bacteria. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The artist s use of contrast between very cool colors to very warm colors attracts attention to the sun and it s brightness in the painting. The painting is vivid, yet impressionistic. The brushstrokes from the water to the rocky mountains are quite thin and small, but those of the sun are deep, rich, and intense. The brightness and intensity create a blinding and volcanic sun that appears to be setting the clouds above it on fire. Moran uses darker, inky colors in the water to mute the background for a moment and allow the viewer to experience the sun in its totality. As the viewer moves away from the sun and back to the water, he may notice the waves are fervently crashing against the mountain and against each other. The painting overall evokes an image of war and vengeance. • 30. Why Prostitution Should Be Legalize Prostitution The act of engaging in sexual activity or intercourse in exchange for payment defines prostitution. The widely known view of prostitution continues to persist along the lines of immoral, unhealthy, violent, and discriminating. Many countries criminalize prostitution with the intentions of eliminating the problem altogether. This, in fact, drove prostitutionunderground making the problem even messier. No matter the view, the sex work industry will always have a demand. The networth of prostitution outweighs America s illegal drug and gun trade combined. Therefore, prostitution isn t going anywhere and remains one of the oldest professions in history. Many countries have already legalized prostitution including Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Austria, and Belgium. In doing so, these countries have the capability to maintain a proper work environment and provide health regulations among many other things. Prostitution should be legalized to ensure the medical safety of the prostitutes and their clients. Due to the criminalization of prostitution, prostitutes generally have a higher risk of transferring sexually transmitted diseases. A sexually transmitted disease, or STD, are diseases or infections that can only travel through a sexual act. Prostitutes make money from having sex with other people and in order to become prosperous, they must have sex with several different people. Many clients also refuse to use condoms. The prostitute will usually be offered more money if they participate in the sexual act without the use of a condom. Condoms are proven to be highly successful in preventing someone from contracting or spreading an STD according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. If infected, many prostitutes are unaware of their condition because they can t afford to visit a healthcare professional or carry health insurance. The combination of a prostitutes tendency to exchange sexual intercourse with multiple people and the client s refusal to use condoms opens the prostitute to a greater possibility of transmitting an STD. Since a medical check up isn t financially an option or required for the prostitutes, the prostitute may potentially be spreading an STD to their client unknowingly. ... This is significant because it shows that the US would support poor leaders, including Diem, who had little support from the vietnamese. This proves how Fowlers perspective was more justified because Pyle did not care about the well being of the Vietnamese and chose to support General ThГ© even after seeing the damage that he has caused in vietnam, so that he could satisfy his own selfish needs. The case of 44 Liquormart, Inc. vs. Rhode Island upholds the industry s commercial free speech rights by insuring that beverage alcohol is allowed the same protection under the First Amendment as other legal products and services. In addition, the Courts also ruled that truthful and non misleading advertising is an essential part of the free enterprise system. Withholding this form of advertising deprives the consumers of knowledge that is needed to make conscious and informed decisions. Federal Regulations Advertising hard liquor on TV is a constitutionally protected right, however, the industry must follow strict Federal regulations. An advertisement of distilled spirits can not contain any false or misleading statement that tends to create a misleading impression of the product to the consumer. Furthermore, a statement in an advertisement cannot say anything bad about a competitor s product. Provisions are made also for a statement s design that cannot contain any material that is obscene or indecent. Federal regulations do not permit claims of distilled spirits having curative or therapeutic qualities. This practice was very popular in the 1800 s and early 1900 s. Traveling salespersons would often stage a show in the middle of small towns claiming a miracle cure for various sicknesses. Most often, the cure would involve alcohol consumption causing the consumer to become intoxicated. This advertising was false and misleading.

The Strict Liability Theory The Strict Liability Theory Introduction Strict Liability in simplistic terms can imply an individual or company being liable for their deeds, conducts and outcomes that result in damages to others. A personal complaint of injury for a strict liability case is not as a consequence of a foreplanned action or careless deed (Boatright, 2012). The respondent s action should have triggered strict liability and that the complainant suffered harm. Lastly, the owner knew or should have recognized the animal s specific solicitude (Alabama injury law advisor, 2009). The First bite rule states that the owner is accountable for the second occasion that his animal bites somebody, but not the first instance it bites. Aberrantly Dangerous Activity Strict liability is a certainty for all such activities that involve more or less so substantial risk of harm in their functionality and performance. If the respondent engages in any array of activities and fortuitously and non negligently causes harm to the complainant, he or she is strictly liable. Must be remembered, this is subject to a few limitations that are beyond the jurisdiction of Strict Liability Theory. Essentially, abnormally dangerous activities include all activities related to nuclear reactors, explosives, crop spraying and many others (CantГє, 2002). At present, for ascertaining the extent to which an activity is abnormally dangerous, the courts focus their emphasis on the following factors. Firstly, the high degree of risk of harm to person or property. What Is The Main Point Of The Return Of Martin Guerre The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Davis a return that some may say focuses a little too much on the touch of the and skewers into a romance and that would be the perspective of Robert Finlay. Although Finlay does bring up some very key and valid points about The Return of Martin Guerre but I do feel that Davis over all in both of her argument best describes what would happen. Starters Davis is right in saying that Bertrande knew that the 1st Martin that arrived was not her husband. When she saw him she, however she recoiled in surprise. They can be separated from mixtures and identified through Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). TLC is a simple, and rapid analytical technique that provides qualitative information about a sample. It is based on the principle that different compounds will have different attractions to the stationary and mobile phases. Typically, already characterized compounds can be identified chemically. This allows scientists to determine if compounds have desirable structures, and if reaction conditions of unwanted products can be altered. However, with complex compounds that were never characterized, this process is insufficient. Instead, IR Spectroscopy is used. It measures the vibrations of bonds, producing a spectrum of the different energies absorbed by the molecule. By comparing the energies with standard correlation values, the identity of an unknown compound can be determined. In this experiment, the identity of an unknown organic compound will be determined using these methods. Procedure:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Turkey s involvement in the operation may also be explained through subaltern realism. The fact that the nations that comprised the coalition, save for Turkey, conducting Operation Provide Comfort went through the official channel of the UN shows that the intention was to act within the norms of the international community for conducting humanitarian interventions. Had the US decided to act unilaterally, without permission from the other states involved or the UN, it strongly indicate that the US self interests superseded those of the global community. Furthermore, the coalition of western powers respected Turkey s sovereignty by keeping the refugees at the border and providing aid in refugee camps there. Respecting a nations sovereignty, or giving reasonable cause for violating it, is an essential portion of constructivism as it indicates that states respect the artificially implemented restraints on themselves that they have set up. Beyond the evidence that strongly suggests that OPC was conducted in the sphere of constructivism, there is little evidence that would support any other international relations theory. • 50. The Effects Of Ozone Depletion The ozone depletion has been well documented to negatively affect planet Earth for years. The ozone is a thin layer of the EarthВґs atmosphere which is responsible for absorbing the sun s harmful ultraviolet light ( What is Ozone Layer?,2017). The loss of ozone on earth will take a toll on human health, plants and marine ecosystems, ultimately resulting in a planet that does not support living things. Today, this manifests in climate change. It is easy for many to confuse these two issues, although they are connected in various ways. Loss of the ozone layer is caused by greenhouse gases such as chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs (compounds with chlorine and/or fluorine attached to carbon), as well as , halons (similar compounds with bromine or iodine) (Jain 2015). These chemicals can stay in the atmospherefor up to 100 years causing damage(What is Ozone Layer?,2017). Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, contribute to global warming, which then contributes to climate change by warming the surface and waters. These factors are resulting in a domino effect on our environment. Climate change is classified as an abrupt increase in the Earths temperatures typically caused by human activity (National Aeronautics Space Administration 2016).
