when learning how to play golf. The reason why he joins a golf tournament was that he needed the
money to save his grandmother s house. His grandmother has not pay taxes for past 10 years so she
owed $270,00 otherwise her home would be lost. Happy Gilmore is a naïve and absurd character that
struggles with anger issues but later learns how to deal with it through dumb childish humor.

expectation at the time. Women played domestic roles in which it was implied they were only useful
in the kitchen and taking care of their husbands. Throughout this time period it was more important
for women marry a man than it was to attend college and be educated. Some women had college
degrees and still chose to be housewives. At the time even secondary schools prepared young girls for
this type of role; lessons were given in cookery, household management, darning, sewing and even
