Controversial Immigration Issues
A controversial Issue I like to get your attention on is about Immigration. Immigration is an issue that
has been on all media outlets, but now is more current and pressing issue because of our current
president speech, and views on Immigration. The data I plan on using for this paper are news, social
networks, and online articles. Like any other issue their people with conflicting views when it comes
to this topic. In this paper, I would like to address both for and opposing views on this topic. Also,
how ethics plays a role in social media when discussing Immigration.
Immigration to the Americas started prior to the 19th century. The first Immigrants who came to the
Americas where slaves who were brought here against their will. America ... Show more content on

Everyone has their own set of ethical values by which they abide, and so does the people who
broadcast our news. News media coverage, articles online report how immigration poses a threat to
society, how most of the illegals are criminals. However, if fails to mention the immigrant side of the
story, and how certain events affects them, and what are their concerns. After reading, Reporting
Immigration by Stephen Franklin, it has given me some insight on how and what is told on media to
further appeal to society.
A recent event that happen was a day without Immigrants. This happen recently on February 16, 2017
during this day Immigrants across the states who chose to participate on this day didn t attend school,

rates where low. Some companies supported the workers who chose to protest, however not everyone

My Cultural Identity Essay examples
My culture identity, as I know it as is African American. My culture can be seen in food, literature,
religion, language, the community, family structure, the individual, music, dance, art, and could be
summed up as the symbolic level. Symbolic, because faith plays a major role in our daily lives
through song, prayer, praise and worship. When I m happy I rely on my faith, same as when I m sad,
for I know things will get better as they have before. There are different disciplines within the
humanities, but there is one that I feel that has influenced my cultural identity the most...music. I say
music because from the start music told my culture s history; informed others about deeds or events
that had taken place, also, music was and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
June 19th was shortened to the name Juneteenth. Those slaves started the celebration that we know
and continue today as the Juneteenth Celebration which is now celebrated all across America, and has

Now, this is what you call a celebration, each year is exciting more and more. I ve met a variety of
people, from various parts of Africa, and from many cities in the United States. I would sum it
[Juneteenth Festival] up as a huge family reunion in the park. Realizing we have more in common

possible to acquire a new culture by becoming disabled, moving to a new country or region, or by a

Cholesterol Lab Report
Abstract:
The main purpose of this experiment was to purify the steroid hormone, Cholesterol, by Bromination.
This process was achieved by the electrophilic addition reaction to a natural product (Cholesterol
dibromide). After adding the designated amount of the white powdered cholesterol and the reddish
brown solution of bromine to the Erlenmeyer flask, the mixture turned to a bright yellow color then it
was chilled in an ice water bath, allowing crystals to form. Finally, the vacuum filtration was used to
isolate the sand like white ish yellow crystals that were formed and used to measure the melting point
of cholesterol dibromide in the following lab period. The percentage yield was calculated to be 17%
and the melting point rangeof the product obtained was 100.8C 104.8C.
Procedure:
The procedure for this experiment is found in the organic chemistry I lab manual written by Zachary

Introversion In The Mid-17th Century
In the seventeen years that I ve been alive, I have relished spending my days in a very particular
manner. Alone. And that s not to say that spending time with my closest friends has never brought me
pleasure; our late nights at wrestling competitions, playing video games, just shooting the breeze are
some of my most enjoyable memories. It s just that there s something soothing about solitary reading,
quiet introspection, and exercising alone toward which I gravitate. According to my mom it s because
she didn t arrange enough playdates for me when I was a little kid. It may just be that I was born
predestined to have an inclination towards solitude, like some puritanical hermit. But regardless of the
reasons for my social preferences, what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Americans admire individuals for their attention commanding qualities. To quote Susan Cain, a former
corporate lawyer, and Tedx acknowledged authority on introversion, shyness implies submissiveness.
And in a competitive culture that reveres alpha dogs, one downmanship is probably the most damning
trait of all. THAT is why I find it so important to separate the concept of introversion from shyness: To
dispel any notion of weakness, to deny any perception of social disadvantage, and to debunk the idea
that introverts are in any way incapable of being functional members of society. After all, I m a living
contradiction to that

The Poverty Of The United States
Poverty can be defined as a condition that people suffer from due to lack of economic resources. For
being such a prosperous country, the United States possesses a persistent problem. The problem is the
poverty rate in America and how it has become a force that continuously grows. One fact that
American citizens are not aware of or do not wish to implement in their minds is that nearly 50 million
people in the United States live in poverty. Amongst the 50 million people in the United States that
live below the poverty line, over 5 million more were women than man. This phenomenon as to in
which women experience poverty at far higher rates than men is described as feminization of poverty,
a term coined by Diana Pearce in 1978 (3: Thibos). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of his main arguments was that federal welfare became so generous that it led to women
preferring unwed motherhood and indolence over getting married and obtaining jobs (315: Edin and
Lein). An associate professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, Kathryn Edin, teamed up
with Laura Lein, a senior lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin, in order to express whether the
benefits of living off the welfare program in the United States actually enabled single mothers to make
ends meet. Edin and Lein conducted a study by interviewing 379 single mothers in Boston,
Charleston, Chicago, and San Antonio and displayed their studies in Making Ends Meet: How Single
Mothers Survive on a Welfare Check . Amongst these single mothers, 214 were welfare reliant
mothers and they were the people that Edin and Lein focused on in order to test the assumption of
whether the welfare system was being abused or not. All 214 of these women and their 464 children
relied on the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), the government income transfer
program for poor families that consisted of non elders. On average these single mothers spent $213 a

November 11, 2016 Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island
Chinese immigration to the United States began in large number during the California Gold Rush.
Many people came to the country hoping to find jobs and fortune for themselves and their families
back in China. Among those immigrants many stayed in the country and others went back to China.
The point of entry for these Chinese immigrants to California between 1910 and 1940 was the Angles
Island in San Francisco. The Island was like that of the Ellis Island in New York. These islands were
the immigration detention headquarters for the immigrants waiting on their medical examinations and
immigration papers. It was also the holding ground for deportees awaiting transportation back to the
mother land.
Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island, by Him Mark Lai is a collection of
the poems that was restored from the walls and barracks of the Angles Island. The author had selected
the sixty nine poems which were classified into different categories to show the history of the
immigration. The five section are The Voyage, The Detainment, The Weak Shall Conquer, The
Westerners, Deportees, Transients. Each of these sections includes the restored poems found in the
barrack and the oral histories from peoples who spend their time in the Island, Immigration

Poverty is the state of being extremely poor, meaning having little to no money, goods or means of
support. Lacking basic living materials such as food ,clothes ,shoes, and a household. You may not be
missing all of these but could could just be barely able to afford them. Poverty is a multidimensional

and quality of life, according to the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative. The U.K.

Investigating The Criminal Activity Of Offenders
The logic of some individuals has attempted to justify the criminal activity of offenders. Essentially,
unlawful behavior has been attributed to a number of conditions such as the offender s environment
and the nature of the adversities they have encountered. For example, it can be contended that a
lawbreaker committed an infraction because of the absence of positive adult influences present during
their childhood or that they were compelled by need in which they may have resorted to stealing as a
means of survival. Ultimately, although a degree of reason may exist to warrant an offender s actions,
they cannot evade that fact that they are predominately accountable for their misconduct. Thus, except
in the most exceptional of circumstances, the decision for individuals to violate the law is
impermissible. Burglary is one type of crime in which its severity may be minimized because physical
harm was not sustained by the victims. However, burglary can deprive victims of their sense of
security and strip them of irreplaceable possessions. Furthermore, such an outcome had materialized
when the home of Trinidad and Maria Lupercio was breached. Overall, a burglary was perpetuated at
the Lupercio residence and in Arizona; this particular case qualifies as burglary in the second degree
due to the elements of the crime.

And Setting In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
What if you could own a room, a room where whatever you thought took form? It would, of course,
not be real. But it would smell real, look real, and feel real. Would this be a room you would want?
Ray Bradbury, an author, tells of such a story using many different writing techniques. Ray Bradbury
uses setting, conflict, and foreshadowing to manipulate the plot of the story The veldt and make it
more interesting. Setting is an important part to any story whether it be fictional, sci fi ,romance, or
any story for that matter. But setting is more than just a place and a time. Setting is also how the
author saturates the story with mood and meaning. The setting for The Veldt is in a Happylife home,
where all actions are performed for them by machines. Tying shoes, cooking, all things are done for
them by machines. While this may sound like a pretty good place to live, it does have it s
shortcomings. It would give you no work ethic for starters. But in The Veldt the conflict only
surrounds the mechanical home to an extent. The conflict more pertains to a room in the known only
to the reader by the nursery . It is essentially a room where whatever you imagine comes to fruition.
The children in the story, or what the reader may deem the antagonists, have dreamt up a room of
Africa. Not the fun Africa with festivals and hotels either. The africa with lions that kill and a blazing
hot sun. This sort of setting puts across that the children in the story are very upset and are

The Representation Of Women In Politics In The United States
Women for far too long have had a hard time being taken seriously, especially in politics. Historically,
politics has been a boys club: we ve never had a female president, of the 535 seats in congress just a
little over a hundred of them are filled by female representatives and only 20% of the members of the
senate are women. Even in our modern government, we still have such an underrepresentation of
women, which poses the question: why is this? Why is it so much harder for women to be involved in
politics? Regardless of whether we are comparing men and women in media, sports, business, politics,
etc., it seems our society is often times much harsher on females than males, so we must ask our
selves: What makes us more critical of women than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the debate, specifically the section I analyzed about fitness to be president, Donald Trump acts
childish and immature. He constantly interrupts both Clinton and Wallace simply to assert his
dominance and to ensure he is being heard. There were numerous times during the debate that Clinton,
during her allotted speaking time, would be interrupted with phrases like wrong! or that s a lie and
would even speak over her, when she had been given the floor. All in all, the debate was a perfect
example of the ways in which our society oppresses the outspokenness, ideas and assertiveness of
women. It is so much harder for women to be involved in not only politics but in all other jobs
because of how much men try to silence women and ignore their contributions. The way Donald
Trump treated Hillary Clinton during this debate was a prime example as to why women talk less. He
constantly talked down to her, tried to invalidate her points and went out of his way to speak over her
and interrupt her. Cameron talks about the solutions men offer to problems that plague women s
equality and how they believe this is all it takes, If the problem is female unassertiveness, the solution
is for women to be more assertive. If the problem is that public discussions are conducted according to
men s rules rather than women s, the solution is to get more women involved. However, she, like most

Difference Between Reasonable Suspicion And Probable Cause
Chapter 5 1. Answer the Chapter Review Questions 1, 5, 7, 10 and 11. 1. Compare and contrast
reasonable suspicion and probable cause. Reasonable suspicion is a reasonable likelihood that a crime
has been, is being, or will be committed. It is a reasonable belief based on facts or circumstances and
is informed by a police officer s training and experience. Reasonable suspicion is seen as more than a
guess or hunch but is less than probable cause. Probable cause is the logical belief, supported by facts
and circumstances, which a crime has been, is being, or will be committed. The difference between the
two are the fact that probable cause has evidence or is fact based whereas reasonable suspicion is a
hunch. 5. Compare and contrast the Aguilar Spinelli test with the totality of circumstances test in
Illinois v. Gates. The Aguilar Spinelli test states that a magistrate must be informed of the reasons to
support the conclusion that such an informant is reliable and credible. The magistrate must be
informed of some of the underlying circumstances relied on by the person providing the information
which also went by the name of the two prong test. The totality of circumstances cancelled out the two

Smallpox And Vaccination Essay
The Vaccination and Eradication of Smallpox
Smallpox, a disease caused by the variola virus, has devastated humanity for many centuries. Because
of its high mortality rate, civilizations around the world sought to protect themselves from this disease.
Throughout the 1700 s, these protective methods became more sophisticated, and led up to Edward
Jenner s vaccination method in 1796. Indeed, the World Health Organization, the Center for Disease
Control and the Agency for International Development began a joint program to eradicate smallpox in
1967. It utilized methods of mass vaccination, surveillance, and containment. The endeavor was
successful, and in 1980, WHO officially declared the eradication of smallpox.

James Jurin, secretary to the Royal Society, told the English community of the age old practice in
Turkey in which women inoculated smallpox with needles. This method influenced
many practitioners to use more superficial incision methods so they could prevent their patients from
being seized with other inflammatory disorders (Razzell, 1977). Robert Sutton, a surgeon,
revolutionized this technique significantly because he would puncture the patient obliquely, between
the scarf [epidermis] and true skin [dermis] (Razzell, 1977). Furthermore, Edward Jenner noted in a
1798 publication that if the incision wounded the adipose membrane, the patient would be more likely
to contract a virulent disease. Thus, Robert Sutton s method was universally used as a model which
resulted in much lighter symptoms because the virus would only be injected between the dermal layers
(Razzell, 1977).
The inoculation practiced before 1796 is termed variolation, because the doctors would inoculate their
patients with attenuated forms of the smallpox (variola) virus. Conversely, in 1796, Edward Jenner
introduced his method of vaccination, inoculating a patient with a similar virus, cowpox.
Jenner s first encounter with cowpox, a relative of the smallpox virus, was in 1789, when a mild
eruptive fever appeared in Gloucestershire. This disease was known in the town as swinepox, pigpox,
or cowpox. Edward Jenner had the perfect opportunity to study the disease, as his younger son s nurse

Alcohol Addiction Is The High Risk Of Relapse
Alcoholic beverages are served in many restaurants, sold in many stores, and acceptably consumed in
many populations. Although alcohol can become a drug of abuse, not many view it that way.
According to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (2014), about 7.2% of adults in
the United States ages 18 and over have an alcohol use disorder. A variety of environmental and
genetic factors contribute to the development of alcohol addiction. The variability in the causes of
alcohol addiction generates variability in the response to treatment. However, what is common among
all alcohol addictions is the high risk of relapse. This risk is potentially caused by the lasting changes
in the brain that occur when voluntary alcohol use becomes an addiction. The neural changes that are a
result of an alcohol addiction potentially put a recovered alcoholic at high risk of relapse until these
circuits can be erased and replaced with healthier circuits. Not enough is known about the nature of
alcohol addiction to provide a clear cut way to replace addiction circuitry with healthier wiring,
however, new research on the neural mechanisms of addiction are creating a better understanding of
the effects of alcoholism. This new insight is leading to suggestions for more effective treatments. One
new treatment, called cue exposure therapy, might be a significant new development because it
addresses the neural changes caused by alcohol addiction and focuses on using conditioning to

The Lab Must Stay Clean And Sterile
Laboratories across the United States have many different ways of operating in order to collect
sufficient and precise data and make adequate conclusions. In order for a laboratory to run smoothly
and collect good data, the lab must stay clean and sterile. Through Dr. Williams section of LB 133,
Introduction to History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science, I had the opportunity to complete a two
hour non participant, unstructured, naturalistic observation at the MSU DOE Plant Research
Laboratory. After extensive research of multiple laboratories hosting studies on Michigan State
University campus, the laboratory I chose was Dr. Christoph Benning s plant lipid research laboratory
study. Benning s lab had a strong tie to the STS concept of good data.
Shortly after emailing him about observing the lab, he connected me with a graduate student name
Anastasiya. With her help, I was able to take a tour of the plant laboratory; and observe her conduct
parts of the laboratory work, as well as collect data. When I observed this lab, I did not participate at
all and did not affect the results in any way. In order to gain information, I used techniques such as
note taking, asking extensive questions, and drawing a sketch of the lab. In order to understand the
steps that were taking place, quickly I realized, that extensive note taking on everything that I could
see, smell, hear, and touch, was an adequate way to gain knowledge about the laboratory. I watched

Disney Negative Image
Some Disney Films Portray a Negative Image on Kids Lives in Today s World
I. Introduction
a. The image that Disney s films portray their stories is a very powerful product that can influence our
kids in a negative way.
b. One example of this is the film The Princess and the Frog. In this movie, we can see that an African
American girl named Tiana lived poor in the 1920 s. The plot of this story is that this poor girl wanted
to finish the dream of her father, which is to create a restaurant.
c. Like most of Disney s movies, the damsel in distress ends up marrying the prince charming,
resolving all her social and economic problems. This kind of message to a little girl can create a wrong
image of what her life should be like. Therefore, it portrays a negative influence in a young girl life.
d. THESIS STATEMENT: Disney films create a fantasy world that young audience capture as an
example of how life should be. This creates an issue, because it teaches kids that money is the solution
for all problems by selling your dignity, they also teach that hard work is not enough in order to
accomplish your dreams, and they also label the difference in social status.
II. BODY ONE
a. Disney films create a fantasy world, which misleads kids imagination of how the real world should
be lived.
b. In most of the Disney films, money is a factor to save the lives of the main characters. This was not
the exception in the film The Princess and the Frog.
1. As part of her solution, Tiana has to kiss the frog, which is a prince and in return he would give her
money to by the old mill. She ends up giving him the kiss for the money he promised.
2. Even though this scene seems harmless, this is an example of how Disney films are portraying a
negative influence on how a girl sells herself to get the money she needs.
3. The message here is that it is acceptable to sell your dignity for money in return for what you need.
4. For younger kids this can be an example of how to acquire things in life.
III. BODY TWO
a. In this film, they also teach that hard work is not enough in order to accomplish your dreams.
1. Throughout the film, Tiana is depicted to be a hard worker. She is also portrayed following the
values her parents taught her.

In the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, in it the first book in the series written by Scott. Other books
in this series include, Pretties, Specials, and Extras. This book mainly takes place in Uglyville, where
all the uglies live before they turn sixteen and become pretty. Tally, the main character, who is
perseverant and indecisive, meets two other relevant characters in the story as well that are named
Shay and David. The inciting incident that starts the conflict is when Shay runs away, in hopes of
Tally finding her and not getting the operation done. The overriding conflict, however, is whether
Tally will choose to become pretty and lose her best friend or not become pretty and stay with the
people that care about her the most. Scott Westerfeld

How Does Truman Capote Use Imagery In A Christmas Memory
In Truman Capote s short story A Christmas Memory imagery and symbolism are used by the author
to show that friendship has no age limit. Truman uses very vivid details and many different types of
figurative language to show his theme ,which is that friendship has no age. An example of symbolism
is, As if I expected to see, rather like hearts, a lost pair of kites hurrying toward heaven (6). After
getting the news of his friend s death, he goes outside and almost expects to see kites. In this example
of symbolism, the author shows us how deep a bond Buddy and his friend have by showing us a
glimpse of Buddy s mind and how his heart is going to heaven with his friend. Furthermore, the author
uses some imagery when he gives us a vivid description

¬ Task 6 (M3) With the aid of a schematic of an aircraft, explain the operation of the fuel system for
normal, pressurization and transfer modes FUEL SYSTEM OPERATION IN NORMAL MODE In
Normal Mode, the fuel supply to the engines is provided from the main fuel pumps inside the wing
storage tanks. In aircraft design, one pump is always running as main pump and the other pump is
standby or armed condition only. The standby pump will work only if the main pump fails at any time.
The fuel valves are controlled by the computer depending on the requirement or isolation of fuel
supply. All fuel probes sensor will continue provide feedback to the computer for quantity indication.
FUEL SYSTEM OPERATION IN PRESSURIZATION MODE The pressurization of each tank is also
part of the surge vent tanks which are installed at the wing tip. The main storage tanks are connected
by vent pipes to maintain the needed pressure inside the storage tanks so that it will be supplied
positively by the main pumps to the engines or APU. In case of overpressure or spillage during
refueling on ground, the fuel goes to the Surge tank at each wing tip and then, the fuel will be
discharge overboard to release the excess fuel. FUEL SYSTEM OPERATION IN TRANSFER MODE

Sex Education And Public Schools Essay
In this paper I will address virginity, first sexual experiences, sex education in public schools, and
abortion. The first two topics, virginity and first sexual experiences, coming from a personal
perspective as well as some credible sources. I will also include the historical aspects of virginity, the
creation and use of the concept, and why it s in our society. The last topic is my concern for the lack of
sex education in public schools and mentioning the harm of abstinence only sex education and the
importance to provide comprehensive education for our youth for protection and lifelong sexual
satisfaction. I will also include my experience with sex education and how limited or censored topics
can be detrimental to children by second guessing their understanding of necessary and critical sexual
information.
Virginity. Anyone is familiar with the term virginity. Whichever way the word was introduced to us all
throughout our lives we have either been taught by parents or educators about the word and the
concept of virginity or we have figured it out by word of mouth among our peers. By definition,
according to a simple Google search, virginity is the state of never having had sexual intercourse or
the state of being naive, innocent, or inexperienced in a particular context. With the concept of
virginity there are myths that are deeply rooted to it that come from the historical and societal aspects
of our culture, despite the word virginity being prevalent for many

Essay on Bilingual Education in the United States
Bilingual Education in the United States
Aside from Native Americans, there are no indigenous Americans to speak of in the United States.
The U.S. is therefore a large immigrant nation whose history has grown out of its ability to bring
together people of different cultures, ethnicities, religions and backgrounds. This is why the United
States is often considered to be the world s melting pot. However, despite the fact that America is
composed of a diverse immigrant population, English is recognized as the national language of the
U.S., and it is through English that domestic affairs in the United States are conducted. Given the large
influx of immigrants from Spanish speaking nations in South America, the Caribbean, and Mexico ...

This is because rather than ostracizing large numbers of the population, the U.S. should embrace the
diversity of its people by offering assistance to non English speaking students. Therefore, although I
will argue that secondary languages such as Spanish should be taught in public schools in the U.S., I
do not believe that English should be replaced entirely by secondary languages.
Before outlining the arguments for and against bilingual education, it is first necessary to provide an
overview of the controversy over bilingual education, and its emergence as a national debate. This
controversy is basically centered on the question: Should the United States government incorporate
the teaching of different languages into the public school system or not? Although it is currently
permissible to learn secondary languages such as Spanish, French, German and Latin in public middle
schools and high schools in the U.S., such classes have traditionally been geared toward broadening
the educational experience for native English speaking students. Therefore, rather than providing
assistance to students whose native languages are not English, classes in American public schools are
taught in English, despite the fact that increasing numbers of students in some areas of the U.S. do not
speak English as their first language. In 1998, for example, (the most recent year for which statistics
were available), statistics indicated that there were some

Symbolic Ethnicity Essay
Symbolic ethnicity is a term coined by Herbert Gans. It refers to ethnicity that is individualistic in
nature and without real social cost for the individual. These symbolic identifications are essentially
leisure time activities, rooted in nuclear family traditions reinforced by voluntary enjoyable aspects of
being ethnic (Gans 424 429). Symbolic ethnicity is practiced and enjoyed by white Americans. It is a
way for descendants of white Europeans to learn about and be proud of their heritage. That is not the
case for non whites who are grouped together by the white majority making ethnic identity difficult .
This type of ethnicity is rooted in immigrants of European descent. It could be the Feast of Saint

This creates a situation where Caribbean blacks who are steeped in heritage are typically unable to
partake in their own ethnic celebrations like their white counterparts. When Caribbean blacks arrive in
America, they attempt to distance themselves from the American black (Ogbu, J.U. 425 429). When a
black group attempts to celebrate its heritage, other groups march in order to disrupt these types of
celebrations. Every time a black organization wants to march or celebrate, the KKK or other white
supremacist group alternatively marches to cause conflict. When this type of celebration does take
place, it is typically limited locally to black neighborhoods with no media coverage. Asians are treated
in a similar fashion being grouped together as one nation. There are Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese,
Korean and Cambodian to name a few. These people when assimilated into American culture become
one group, Asian, which in many cases offers no opportunity to express their own national heritage or
culture in America. Grouping of these minorities puts all blacks whether American or otherwise and
Asians under the same umbrella and therefore dealing with the same stereotypes. These images

Abstract This chapter explores and develops fast fashion in the current retailing industry and its
impacts on how the Chinese textile manufacturing industry has adjusted to remain competitive. Fast
fashion evolved at the turn of the twenty first century into a business approach characterized by fresh
fashions, shorter life cycles, and faster production, placing significant pressure for rapid delivery,
quality products, and low prices for each segment of the supply chain in a highly competitive

2006). This chapter will explore the development of dynamic capabilities of the woven cotton
piecegood supply chain in China and Hong Kong in response to the emergence of the relatively new
fast fashion retail business strategy and the consequent manufacturing adjustments along the supply
chain which improved production output and reduced production costs for the Chinese factories. In
addition, the following text will overview a qualitative research study conducted by means of in depth
interviews with eight large Chinese textile factories to gain accurate data on the changes that are
currently implemented to coincide with fast fashion s model. The data may be beneficial to buyers and
suppliers in understanding difficulties faced by both producers and retailers in the fast fashion industry
and may provide the possible changes China should make to further secure a competitive advantage in
the global textile industry. Lastly, a model will be presented, which is useful to textile industry
professionals for a better understanding of time management and costs associated with alternative
production methods. Current research in fast fashion generally does not extend toward the
manufacturing arm in China and to the reaction of the product suppliers; therefore, this work offers
unique insight into the ways in which the T C C factories prioritise, manage, and innovate to remain
competitive.

The Election Of The 2016 Presidential Election
The 2016 presidential election had been a contentious one even before the primaries began. A divide
within parties and between the public grew increasingly evident over the past year, ultimately leading
to a candidate with no prior political experience beating out a candidate with forty plus years on her
resume. Scandals plagued both campaigns, however, polls and positive media coverage stayed firmly
in Hillary Clinton s favor throughout the duration of the election process with Donald Trump even
claiming that the polls were rigged and the media was biased. While the veracity of these claims
cannot be verified, today we know that the polls were wrong and the media that all but handed the
election to Clinton were wrong as well. So how did Trump, someone many said would need a miracle
to make it to the White House, beat all the odds and his seemingly strong opponent to become
President? Though pundits are still struggling to understand it, the rise of Donald Trump shouldn t
have surprised anyone. For the pioneering German sociologist Max Weber, it would have been entirely
predictable, a classic example of the politics of charisma.
Weber posited that modern political systems are normally rational and bureaucratic. They are managed
by trained professionals who deliver public services according to a set of clear rules. They should
operate like a reliable machine, an iron cage, as Weber put it. But what if the machine breaks down?
What if securities regulators fail to

Pros And Cons Of Genetic Modification
When it comes to the topic of genetic modification, most of us will readily agree that genetic
modification should be allowed. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of
how genetic modification can be dangerous. Whereas some are convinced that people should be able
to modify their genes, others maintain that modifying genes can cause too many risks and dangers for
humanity. Genetic modification should not be allowed because it is unacceptable to change the natural
course of human life. Many scientists will say that genetic modification will advance medical
technology. They claim that modifying genes will help understand more about the human DNA and its

The Conquest Of New Spain Summary
Any student of history has come to recognize the fact that history is written by the victor and in lieu of
this, research becomes essential to uncover where the truth lies. The True History of the Conquest of
New Spain, so ironically named, is a personal account for historical events leading up to the conquest
of New Spain, formerly known as the City of Mexico. The author, Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of the
conquering army who composed the document well after the events took place sometime between
1552 and 1557. Though the document did provide insight in regards to the victor s perspective, it also
served as a tool to rewrite the account of the conquered people. From what we know, the author
Bernal Diaz Del Castillo, commonly referred to as Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of fortune. Coming from
a moderately poor background he embarked on several expeditions under the lead of multiple captains

obtained by Spaniards prior to arrival and knowledge gained from observation, it would be remiss had

An Insight Into Contemporary British And Indian Societies
With reference to contemporary Britain and one other society, explain ways in which the societies are
held together through common cultures but are also unequal and divided. This essay will demonstrate
some key concepts in sociology by providing an insight into how contemporary British and Indian
societies have held together through common cultures but are unequal and divided. It will explain how
shared culture, social organisation, values and norms between the two societies may help produce
stability and conformity within themselves. It will also highlight that there are systematic differences
between societies in relation to key sociological concepts. The text will demonstrate this by into
different aspects of their cultures featuring its norms and values, marriage and families, stratification
and Inequalities whilst attempting to link these to two key sociological theories. Norms are considered
to be standard, especially of social behaviour that is expected, whereas values are the Principles or
standards of behaviour of what is important in life.(OFORD: Online) Contemporary Britain has many
norms and values in contrast to Indian culture. The United Kingdom is a crowded country. People
cope with this situation by being reserved and apprehensive in public, politely ignoring strangers,
quietly minding their own business. (BYRON, 2001) Even though in British culture it is considered

Baseball And Softball Are Similar
Baseball and softball are similar, but very different in many ways. Most people think baseball and
softball are basically the exact same sports, the only difference being girls play softball, and boys play
baseball. The fact is, there are many differences as well as similarities in the two sports. Both of the
sports use a round ball, the object is to hit the ball, run around the bases, and score at home plate. In
the game of softball the baselines are only sixty feet long. Therefore, you must run super fast in order
to be safe at first base. However, baseball baselines are ninety feet long, so the infielders have more
time to get the runner out, and the runners have a longer distance to run. Softball pitchers have an
advantage because the pitching mound is so close. An elite softball pitcher can throw speeds topping
seventy miles per hour. This means a softball pitch can reach the plate in only thirty five hundredths of
a second! That is actually faster than it takes a 100 miles per hour major league fastball to reach home
plate. The baseball takes thirty eight hundredths of a second. After locating the pitch, a softball batter
only has about twenty five milliseconds to decide to swing or not. That is about fifty five percent less
time than a major league baseball player has. The game of softball can be very challenging for a batter.
However, it can be even more challenging for an infielder. When balls come off of the bat at about one
hundred miles per hour, a softball

Terracotta Warriors Research Paper
The Terracotta Warriors are thousands of individual hand crafted terracotta soldiers and horses. They
are lined up in rows, placed underground near China s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang s tomb. The
Warriors were made to accompany Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife, as he believed that they could be
animated. The Terracotta warriors are very significant to the Chinese culture as they show in great
detail, how the military was back then and the amazing craftsmanship of the ancient Chinese.
The Terracotta army was built in around 210 BCE and there are an estimated 8000 warriors, chariots
and horses, all suposedly serving Qin Shi Huang in his afterlife. The warriors were built to acompony
him so he could keep the same military power and imperial status, as he believed that the statues
would become animated after he died. He ordered the project to start at an early age of 13, even with
an estimated 700,000 workers the warriors and tomb took around 40 years to build. He believed that
they would be a safeguard and serve him to his every need. The warriors were a subsitute to human

The Castro Regime And The LGBT Community
Not only did the Castro Regime harass the LGBT community, they imprison many of the openly
homosexual people. During the decades of the 1960s which was precisely when all the new laws
against homosexuals came into being, the sexual act became taboo while the new man: was being
proclaimed and masculinity exalted(Arenas). Life for any person that practice homosexuality was
tough as a result the fear of imprisonment was their greatest concern. All homosexual acts were
deemed illegal and punishable by years in jail. By 1964, young men were even being persecuted for
having long hair and wearing tight fitting pants (New World Encyclopedia). The Castro government
continued to enforce the Public Ostentation Law following the Revolution. Throughout the 1960s and
1970s, gay men were routinely imprisoned for soliciting sex in public locations, government workers
lost their jobs because of their homosexuality, and homosexual artists were censored ( COHA).
Eventually, every gay writer and artist was parameterized. That is, they received a telegram stating
that their behavior did not fall within the political and moral parameters necessary for their jobs.
Despite all homosexual people that have been affected by the laws that were decreed by the
government, the artist and writers were often targeted by the government the most. Thus, this could be

  • 2. Controversial Immigration Issues A controversial Issue I like to get your attention on is about Immigration. Immigration is an issue that has been on all media outlets, but now is more current and pressing issue because of our current president speech, and views on Immigration. The data I plan on using for this paper are news, social networks, and online articles. Like any other issue their people with conflicting views when it comes to this topic. In this paper, I would like to address both for and opposing views on this topic. Also, how ethics plays a role in social media when discussing Immigration. Immigration to the Americas started prior to the 19th century. The first Immigrants who came to the Americas where slaves who were brought here against their will. America ... News media coverage, articles online report how immigration poses a threat to society, how most of the illegals are criminals. However, if fails to mention the immigrant side of the story, and how certain events affects them, and what are their concerns. After reading, Reporting Immigration by Stephen Franklin, it has given me some insight on how and what is told on media to further appeal to society. A recent event that happen was a day without Immigrants. This happen recently on February 16, 2017 during this day Immigrants across the states who chose to participate on this day didn t attend school, work, or shop. It had a huge impact on the school districts they lost money, because the attendance rates where low. • 3. My Cultural Identity Essay examples My culture identity, as I know it as is African American. My culture can be seen in food, literature, religion, language, the community, family structure, the individual, music, dance, art, and could be summed up as the symbolic level. Symbolic, because faith plays a major role in our daily lives through song, prayer, praise and worship. When I m happy I rely on my faith, same as when I m sad, for I know things will get better as they have before. There are different disciplines within the humanities, but there is one that I feel that has influenced my cultural identity the most...music. I say music because from the start music told my culture s history; informed others about deeds or events that had taken place, also, music was and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... June 19th was shortened to the name Juneteenth. Those slaves started the celebration that we know and continue today as the Juneteenth Celebration which is now celebrated all across America, and has now become the African American addendum to our national Independence Day. (Juneteenth, n.d.) Now, this is what you call a celebration, each year is exciting more and more. I ve met a variety of people, from various parts of Africa, and from many cities in the United States. I would sum it [Juneteenth Festival] up as a huge family reunion in the park. Realizing we have more in common than not, when I meet new people, I look at them as individuals. I take into consideration the concrete, the behavioral and the symbolic for they all have their place in a person being who they are. Yes, I wish others could see and gain understanding for other cultures through my eyes. For example, it is possible to acquire a new culture by becoming disabled, moving to a new country or region, or by a change in our economic status. When we think of culture this broadly we realize we all belong to many cultures at once (Community Tool Box, 2013). Who are the Lumbee? • 4. Cholesterol Lab Report Abstract: The main purpose of this experiment was to purify the steroid hormone, Cholesterol, by Bromination. This process was achieved by the electrophilic addition reaction to a natural product (Cholesterol dibromide). After adding the designated amount of the white powdered cholesterol and the reddish brown solution of bromine to the Erlenmeyer flask, the mixture turned to a bright yellow color then it was chilled in an ice water bath, allowing crystals to form. Finally, the vacuum filtration was used to isolate the sand like white ish yellow crystals that were formed and used to measure the melting point of cholesterol dibromide in the following lab period. The percentage yield was calculated to be 17% and the melting point rangeof the product obtained was 100.8C 104.8C. Procedure: The procedure for this experiment is found in the organic chemistry I lab manual written by Zachary Poulos (pages 123 134). There were no changes to the procedure. • 5. Introversion In The Mid-17th Century In the seventeen years that I ve been alive, I have relished spending my days in a very particular manner. Alone. And that s not to say that spending time with my closest friends has never brought me pleasure; our late nights at wrestling competitions, playing video games, just shooting the breeze are some of my most enjoyable memories. It s just that there s something soothing about solitary reading, quiet introspection, and exercising alone toward which I gravitate. According to my mom it s because she didn t arrange enough playdates for me when I was a little kid. It may just be that I was born predestined to have an inclination towards solitude, like some puritanical hermit. But regardless of the reasons for my social preferences, what ... Be it rappers, outspoken politicians, flamboyant actors, or any number of outgoing personas, Americans admire individuals for their attention commanding qualities. To quote Susan Cain, a former corporate lawyer, and Tedx acknowledged authority on introversion, shyness implies submissiveness. And in a competitive culture that reveres alpha dogs, one downmanship is probably the most damning trait of all. THAT is why I find it so important to separate the concept of introversion from shyness: To dispel any notion of weakness, to deny any perception of social disadvantage, and to debunk the idea that introverts are in any way incapable of being functional members of society. After all, I m a living contradiction to that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lukas Jackson, a man introduced to us by cutting the heads off parking meters, is sent to a chain gang for two years as punishment. After watching the film, and reading the reviews, it is obvious that there are several pertinent ideas that characterize the film s central theme Luke s question of his faith, his keen smile that tells all, how he is neither a hero or an anti hero, and how ironically he is a Christ like figure himself. From the very first minute in the movie, Luke has already introduced us to his famous smile. The man grins foolishly and lifts a bottle in salute (Champlin 3). This ... • 7. The Poverty Of The United States Poverty can be defined as a condition that people suffer from due to lack of economic resources. For being such a prosperous country, the United States possesses a persistent problem. The problem is the poverty rate in America and how it has become a force that continuously grows. One fact that American citizens are not aware of or do not wish to implement in their minds is that nearly 50 million people in the United States live in poverty. Amongst the 50 million people in the United States that live below the poverty line, over 5 million more were women than man. This phenomenon as to in which women experience poverty at far higher rates than men is described as feminization of poverty, a term coined by Diana Pearce in 1978 (3: Thibos). ... One of his main arguments was that federal welfare became so generous that it led to women preferring unwed motherhood and indolence over getting married and obtaining jobs (315: Edin and Lein). An associate professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, Kathryn Edin, teamed up with Laura Lein, a senior lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin, in order to express whether the benefits of living off the welfare program in the United States actually enabled single mothers to make ends meet. Edin and Lein conducted a study by interviewing 379 single mothers in Boston, Charleston, Chicago, and San Antonio and displayed their studies in Making Ends Meet: How Single Mothers Survive on a Welfare Check . Amongst these single mothers, 214 were welfare reliant mothers and they were the people that Edin and Lein focused on in order to test the assumption of whether the welfare system was being abused or not. All 214 of these women and their 464 children relied on the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), the government income transfer program for poor families that consisted of non elders. On average these single mothers spent $213 a month on housing, $262 on food, $336 on other necessary expenses, and $64 on items that were not necessarily essential. This summed up to be a total of $876 being spent on an average family of 3.17 people. Although the money they were receiving was helping them reach their goal of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Poetry And History Of Chinese Immigrants On Angel Island Ashly.E.Jose AAAS 280E John Cheng November 11, 2016 Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island Chinese immigration to the United States began in large number during the California Gold Rush. Many people came to the country hoping to find jobs and fortune for themselves and their families back in China. Among those immigrants many stayed in the country and others went back to China. The point of entry for these Chinese immigrants to California between 1910 and 1940 was the Angles Island in San Francisco. The Island was like that of the Ellis Island in New York. • 11. Investigating The Criminal Activity Of Offenders The logic of some individuals has attempted to justify the criminal activity of offenders. Essentially, unlawful behavior has been attributed to a number of conditions such as the offender s environment and the nature of the adversities they have encountered. For example, it can be contended that a lawbreaker committed an infraction because of the absence of positive adult influences present during their childhood or that they were compelled by need in which they may have resorted to stealing as a means of survival. Ultimately, although a degree of reason may exist to warrant an offender s actions, they cannot evade that fact that they are predominately accountable for their misconduct. Thus, except in the most exceptional of circumstances, the decision for individuals to violate the law is impermissible. Burglary is one type of crime in which its severity may be minimized because physical harm was not sustained by the victims. However, burglary can deprive victims of their sense of security and strip them of irreplaceable possessions. But it would smell real, look real, and feel real. Would this be a room you would want? Ray Bradbury, an author, tells of such a story using many different writing techniques. Ray Bradbury uses setting, conflict, and foreshadowing to manipulate the plot of the story The veldt and make it more interesting. Setting is an important part to any story whether it be fictional, sci fi ,romance, or any story for that matter. But setting is more than just a place and a time. Setting is also how the author saturates the story with mood and meaning. The setting for The Veldt is in a Happylife home, where all actions are performed for them by machines. Tying shoes, cooking, all things are done for them by machines. While this may sound like a pretty good place to live, it does have it s shortcomings. It would give you no work ethic for starters. But in The Veldt the conflict only surrounds the mechanical home to an extent. The conflict more pertains to a room in the known only to the reader by the nursery . It is essentially a room where whatever you imagine comes to fruition. The children in the story, or what the reader may deem the antagonists, have dreamt up a room of Africa. Not the fun Africa with festivals and hotels either. The africa with lions that kill and a blazing hot sun. This sort of setting puts across that the children in the story are very upset and are ... Historically, politics has been a boys club: we ve never had a female president, of the 535 seats in congress just a little over a hundred of them are filled by female representatives and only 20% of the members of the senate are women. Even in our modern government, we still have such an underrepresentation of women, which poses the question: why is this? Why is it so much harder for women to be involved in politics? All in all, the debate was a perfect example of the ways in which our society oppresses the outspokenness, ideas and assertiveness of women. It is so much harder for women to be involved in not only politics but in all other jobs because of how much men try to silence women and ignore their contributions. The way Donald Trump treated Hillary Clinton during this debate was a prime example as to why women talk less. He constantly talked down to her, tried to invalidate her points and went out of his way to speak over her and interrupt her. Cameron talks about the solutions men offer to problems that plague women s equality and how they believe this is all it takes, If the problem is female unassertiveness, the solution is for women to be more assertive. Compare and contrast reasonable suspicion and probable cause. Reasonable suspicion is a reasonable likelihood that a crime has been, is being, or will be committed. It is a reasonable belief based on facts or circumstances and is informed by a police officer s training and experience. Reasonable suspicion is seen as more than a guess or hunch but is less than probable cause. Probable cause is the logical belief, supported by facts and circumstances, which a crime has been, is being, or will be committed. The difference between the two are the fact that probable cause has evidence or is fact based whereas reasonable suspicion is a hunch. 5. The totality of circumstances cancelled out the two prong test with the rules suggests that there is no single deciding factor, that one must consider all the facts, the context, and conclude from the whole picture whether there is probable cause, or whether an alleged detention is really a detention, or whether a citizen acted under ... Because of its high mortality rate, civilizations around the world sought to protect themselves from this disease. Throughout the 1700 s, these protective methods became more sophisticated, and led up to Edward Jenner s vaccination method in 1796. Indeed, the World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control and the Agency for International Development began a joint program to eradicate smallpox in 1967. It utilized methods of mass vaccination, surveillance, and containment. The endeavor was successful, and in 1980, WHO officially declared the eradication of smallpox. Since 1000 B.C., the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James Jurin, secretary to the Royal Society, told the English community of the age old practice in Turkey in which women inoculated smallpox with needles. This method influenced many practitioners to use more superficial incision methods so they could prevent their patients from being seized with other inflammatory disorders (Razzell, 1977). Robert Sutton, a surgeon, revolutionized this technique significantly because he would puncture the patient obliquely, between the scarf [epidermis] and true skin [dermis] (Razzell, 1977). Furthermore, Edward Jenner noted in a 1798 publication that if the incision wounded the adipose membrane, the patient would be more likely to contract a virulent disease. Thus, Robert Sutton s method was universally used as a model which resulted in much lighter symptoms because the virus would only be injected between the dermal layers (Razzell, 1977). The inoculation practiced before 1796 is termed variolation, because the doctors would inoculate their patients with attenuated forms of the smallpox (variola) virus. Conversely, in 1796, Edward Jenner introduced his method of vaccination, inoculating a patient with a similar virus, cowpox. Jenner s first encounter with cowpox, a relative of the smallpox virus, was in 1789, when a mild eruptive fever appeared in Gloucestershire. This disease was known in the town as swinepox, pigpox, or cowpox. Edward Jenner had the perfect opportunity to study the disease, as his younger son s nurse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Alcohol Addiction Is The High Risk Of Relapse Alcoholic beverages are served in many restaurants, sold in many stores, and acceptably consumed in many populations. Although alcohol can become a drug of abuse, not many view it that way. According to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (2014), about 7.2% of adults in the United States ages 18 and over have an alcohol use disorder. A variety of environmental and genetic factors contribute to the development of alcohol addiction. The variability in the causes of alcohol addiction generates variability in the response to treatment. However, what is common among all alcohol addictions is the high risk of relapse. This risk is potentially caused by the lasting changes in the brain that occur when voluntary alcohol use becomes an addiction. The neural changes that are a result of an alcohol addiction potentially put a recovered alcoholic at high risk of relapse until these circuits can be erased and replaced with healthier circuits. Not enough is known about the nature of alcohol addiction to provide a clear cut way to replace addiction circuitry with healthier wiring, however, new research on the neural mechanisms of addiction are creating a better understanding of the effects of alcoholism. • 22. Disney Negative Image Some Disney Films Portray a Negative Image on Kids Lives in Today s World I. Introduction a. The image that Disney s films portray their stories is a very powerful product that can influence our kids in a negative way. b. One example of this is the film The Princess and the Frog. In this movie, we can see that an African American girl named Tiana lived poor in the 1920 s. The plot of this story is that this poor girl wanted to finish the dream of her father, which is to create a restaurant. c. Like most of Disney s movies, the damsel in distress ends up marrying the prince charming, resolving all her social and economic problems. This kind of message to a little girl can create a wrong image of what her life should be like. Therefore, it portrays a negative influence in a young girl life. d. THESIS STATEMENT: Disney films create a fantasy world that young audience capture as an example of how life should be. This creates an issue, because it teaches kids that money is the solution for all problems by selling your dignity, they also teach that hard work is not enough in order to accomplish your dreams, and they also label the difference in social status. II. BODY ONE a. Disney films create a fantasy world, which misleads kids imagination of how the real world should be lived. b. In most of the Disney films, money is a factor to save the lives of the main characters. This was not the exception in the film The Princess and the Frog. 1. As part of her solution, Tiana has to kiss the frog, which is a prince and in return he would give her money to by the old mill. She ends up giving him the kiss for the money he promised. 2. Even though this scene seems harmless, this is an example of how Disney films are portraying a negative influence on how a girl sells herself to get the money she needs. 3. The message here is that it is acceptable to sell your dignity for money in return for what you need. 4. For younger kids this can be an example of how to acquire things in life. III. BODY TWO a. In this film, they also teach that hard work is not enough in order to accomplish your dreams. 1. Throughout the film, Tiana is depicted to be a hard worker. Before outlining the arguments for and against bilingual education, it is first necessary to provide an overview of the controversy over bilingual education, and its emergence as a national debate. This controversy is basically centered on the question: Should the United States government incorporate the teaching of different languages into the public school system or not? Although it is currently permissible to learn secondary languages such as Spanish, French, German and Latin in public middle schools and high schools in the U.S., such classes have traditionally been geared toward broadening the educational experience for native English speaking students. When a black group attempts to celebrate its heritage, other groups march in order to disrupt these types of celebrations. Every time a black organization wants to march or celebrate, the KKK or other white supremacist group alternatively marches to cause conflict. When this type of celebration does take place, it is typically limited locally to black neighborhoods with no media coverage. Asians are treated in a similar fashion being grouped together as one nation. There are Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Cambodian to name a few. These people when assimilated into American culture become one group, Asian, which in many cases offers no opportunity to express their own national heritage or culture in America. Grouping of these minorities puts all blacks whether American or otherwise and Asians under the same umbrella and therefore dealing with the same stereotypes. These images ... The Emergence of the Fast Fashion Business Model and Imposed Quick Response Challenges for Chinese Fabric Manufacturers Jennie Hope Peterson, Jimmy Chang, Yiu Hing Wong, and Carl A. Lawrence Abstract This chapter explores and develops fast fashion in the current retailing industry and its impacts on how the Chinese textile manufacturing industry has adjusted to remain competitive. Fast fashion evolved at the turn of the twenty first century into a business approach characterized by fresh fashions, shorter life cycles, and faster production, placing significant pressure for rapid delivery, quality products, and low prices for each segment of the supply chain in a highly competitive environment. Manufacturers must utilize dynamic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2006). This chapter will explore the development of dynamic capabilities of the woven cotton piecegood supply chain in China and Hong Kong in response to the emergence of the relatively new fast fashion retail business strategy and the consequent manufacturing adjustments along the supply chain which improved production output and reduced production costs for the Chinese factories. In addition, the following text will overview a qualitative research study conducted by means of in depth interviews with eight large Chinese textile factories to gain accurate data on the changes that are currently implemented to coincide with fast fashion s model. The data may be beneficial to buyers and suppliers in understanding difficulties faced by both producers and retailers in the fast fashion industry and may provide the possible changes China should make to further secure a competitive advantage in the global textile industry. Lastly, a model will be presented, which is useful to textile industry professionals for a better understanding of time management and costs associated with alternative production methods. Current research in fast fashion generally does not extend toward the manufacturing arm in China and to the reaction of the product suppliers; therefore, this work offers unique insight into the ways in which the T C C factories prioritise, manage, and innovate to remain competitive. • 31. The Election Of The 2016 Presidential Election The 2016 presidential election had been a contentious one even before the primaries began. A divide within parties and between the public grew increasingly evident over the past year, ultimately leading to a candidate with no prior political experience beating out a candidate with forty plus years on her resume. Scandals plagued both campaigns, however, polls and positive media coverage stayed firmly in Hillary Clinton s favor throughout the duration of the election process with Donald Trump even claiming that the polls were rigged and the media was biased. While the veracity of these claims cannot be verified, today we know that the polls were wrong and the media that all but handed the election to Clinton were wrong as well. So how did Trump, someone many said would need a miracle to make it to the White House, beat all the odds and his seemingly strong opponent to become President? Though pundits are still struggling to understand it, the rise of Donald Trump shouldn t have surprised anyone. For the pioneering German sociologist Max Weber, it would have been entirely predictable, a classic example of the politics of charisma. Weber posited that modern political systems are normally rational and bureaucratic. They are managed by trained professionals who deliver public services according to a set of clear rules. They should operate like a reliable machine, an iron cage, as Weber put it. But what if the machine breaks down? What if securities regulators fail to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Pros And Cons Of Genetic Modification When it comes to the topic of genetic modification, most of us will readily agree that genetic modification should be allowed. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of how genetic modification can be dangerous. Whereas some are convinced that people should be able to modify their genes, others maintain that modifying genes can cause too many risks and dangers for humanity. Genetic modification should not be allowed because it is unacceptable to change the natural course of human life. Many scientists will say that genetic modification will advance medical technology. They claim that modifying genes will help understand more about the human DNA and its purpose in medicine, and reproductive technology. While modifying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In making this comment, Joe Cummins urges us to be aware that creating viruses or other pathogens are possible and it can be devastating to a person s health when their bodies are exposed to these viruses. These viruses can be spread throughout other humans and can cause a worldwide epidemic. With these new viruses being created, the human immune system may not be able to defend the body with these viruses. It will can deaths among many people throughout the ... • 33. The Conquest Of New Spain Summary Any student of history has come to recognize the fact that history is written by the victor and in lieu of this, research becomes essential to uncover where the truth lies. The True History of the Conquest of New Spain, so ironically named, is a personal account for historical events leading up to the conquest of New Spain, formerly known as the City of Mexico. The author, Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of the conquering army who composed the document well after the events took place sometime between 1552 and 1557. Though the document did provide insight in regards to the victor s perspective, it also served as a tool to rewrite the account of the conquered people. From what we know, the author Bernal Diaz Del Castillo, commonly referred to as Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of fortune. Coming from a moderately poor background he embarked on several expeditions under the lead of multiple captains to the new world hoping to make a prosperous living from the precious metals he ... This section highlights that history has created a false narrative depicting the natives as a victimized people, which they were to some extent but only in the fashion that they did not possess the same technology for warfare, immunity of communal diseases transmitted, and they were not anticipating combat. All other factors considered, the natives stood to be a potential threat. In regards to knowledge obtained by Spaniards prior to arrival and knowledge gained from observation, it would be remiss had they not prepared for battle. This argument is not to be misconstrued in approving their actions; I do recognize colonization as an evil for both the reasons employed and its damaging effects, but rather to change the narrative surrounding that of the native people. This essay will demonstrate some key concepts in sociology by providing an insight into how contemporary British and Indian societies have held together through common cultures but are unequal and divided. • 37. Baseball And Softball Are Similar Baseball and softball are similar, but very different in many ways. Most people think baseball and softball are basically the exact same sports, the only difference being girls play softball, and boys play baseball. The fact is, there are many differences as well as similarities in the two sports. Both of the sports use a round ball, the object is to hit the ball, run around the bases, and score at home plate. In the game of softball the baselines are only sixty feet long. Therefore, you must run super fast in order to be safe at first base. However, baseball baselines are ninety feet long, so the infielders have more time to get the runner out, and the runners have a longer distance to run. Softball pitchers have an advantage because the pitching mound is so close. An elite softball pitcher can throw speeds topping seventy miles per hour. This means a softball pitch can reach the plate in only thirty five hundredths of a second! That is actually faster than it takes a 100 miles per hour major league fastball to reach home plate. The baseball takes thirty eight hundredths of a second. After locating the pitch, a softball batter only has about twenty five milliseconds to decide to swing or not. That is about fifty five percent less time than a major league baseball player has. The game of softball can be very challenging for a batter. However, it can be even more challenging for an infielder. When balls come off of the bat at about one hundred miles per hour, a softball ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Warriors were made to accompany Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife, as he believed that they could be animated. The Terracotta warriors are very significant to the Chinese culture as they show in great detail, how the military was back then and the amazing craftsmanship of the ancient Chinese. The Terracotta army was built in around 210 BCE and there are an estimated 8000 warriors, chariots and horses, all suposedly serving Qin Shi Huang in his afterlife. Life for any person that practice homosexuality was tough as a result the fear of imprisonment was their greatest concern. All homosexual acts were deemed illegal and punishable by years in jail. By 1964, young men were even being persecuted for having long hair and wearing tight fitting pants (New World Encyclopedia). The Castro government continued to enforce the Public Ostentation Law following the Revolution.
