How Entrepreneurs Differ from Other Business Owners Essay
There has been a large amount of attention paid to the subject of entrepreneurship in the last few
years; mainly because most people have chosen to go from working for somebody else to be their
own bosses and work for their dreams. Yet, many still wonder what is entrepreneurship and what is
that sets entrepreneurs apart from other regular businessowners?
Free lance writer and expert in economic issues Jeanne Holden suggest:
There is no one definitive profile of an entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs come in various ages,
income levels, gender, and race. They differ in education and experience. But research indicates that
most successful entrepreneurs share certain personal attributes, including: creativity, dedication, ...

Then, in the middle of starting up a new business entrepreneurs need determination in order to
never give up, even when things seem harder than what they expected; this determination makes
their focus always be on achieving their goals and success. This must work in conjunction with
flexibility, because every entrepreneur must know how to adapt to the changing world and trends in
the business environment, entrepreneurs competing with already established companies must be
open for change and improvement.
After a entrepreneur has managed to establish himself as a business owner, he uses other skills
to walk toward success, these are leadership and passion. Leadership is the capacity of directing
and influencing others; an entrepreneur must also be a leader in order to run a successful business
where employees feel moved and inspired to give the best of them each day. And leadership could
not exist without passion, because that is what makes an entrepreneur feel confident about a new
idea and keeps him focus on his main goal, while also inspiring the people around him.
Self confidence is what makes an entrepreneur make the right and the smartest decision at the right
time, they have to

My Musical Theatre
Throughout my entire life I have never had any real interest in musical theatre. One time when I
was in about 5th grade, my grandfather took me, my brother and my cousin to a showing of the
Nutcracker. Let me tell you, I tried my hardest, I really tried, but I couldn t stay awake for the
entire performance. This experience I had put a bad taste in my mouth as for the next several years,
I never attended another musical theatreevent.
One day in the spring, I was going through Golden Bear Advising, and I saw that Berkeley
recommended that everyone should listen to the Hamilton soundtrack. I didn t know much about
the musical other than that a couple of my friends in my high school s theatre company listened to
it. My first thought was that it must be better than the Nutcracker, so I decided I d give it a
chance. About 15 seconds into Alexander Hamilton I remember saying out loud, hmm wow, this
bumps! My first time listening to the soundtrack, I didn t listen to it all the way through, but I
was definitely hooked I wanted to keep listening. Over the summer, whenever I d go on long car
rides, I d try to listen to the soundtrack. To be honest, before I listened to the soundtrack, I didn t
think that I would like it, simply because I wasn t a fan of musical theatre. However, I was blown
away and thoroughly the music, the way in which it was presented and the story that was told.
What sticks out to me about the soundtrack is that it kept my attention because at the end

the pleasure of following RF. RF is a 49 year old male with an admitting diagnosis of cervicalgia
cervical herniation, and a scheduled surgery for an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at C4

Upon observation of the circulating nurse, I noticed that she was very interactive and involved
in the surgery. One of the responsibilities of the circulating nurse is to retrieve any surgical
supplies that are not available in the operating room and to make or receive any calls for the
surgeon. During the surgery, I noticed the nurse call for an x ray for the surgeon, the laboratory
for biopsy samples, and the operating room floor front desk to inform them that the surgery
would be later than expected. This is her responsibility as the surgeon cannot break sterility by
touching the phone and it is easier for him to communicate through her and not leave the surgical
site. Also in the operating room, I observed the scrub nurses roles. Before the operation, the scrub
nurse opened all of the sterile packages, arranged them on the sterile field, and took count of what
was there along with the circulating nurse. The scrub nurse did this because she is sterile during
the entire procedure, and once the sterile packs are opened, the contents can only be handled by
sterile personnel. The scrub nurse also was ready and waiting at the sterile field at all times to get
the surgeon any equipment needed from the sterile field. This is helpful to the surgeon because it
enables the surgeon to stay at the surgical site and convenient for when

The Gender Struggle in A Streetcar Named Desire by...
After two world wars, the balance of power between the genders in America had completely shifted.
Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire is a harsh, yet powerful play that exposes the reality
of the gender struggle. Williams illustrates society s changing attitudes towards masculinity and
femininity through his eloquent use of dramatic devices such as characterization, dialogue, setting,
symbolism, and foreshadowing.
Stanley, the protagonist, is a symbol for society s view of the stereotypical male. He is muscular,
forceful, and dominant. Stanley s domination becomes so overwhelming that he demands absolute
control. This view of the male as a large animal is revealed in the opening of the play where
Stanley is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His statement that:
Be comfortable is my motto
is almost contradictory, considering that the character does all he can to put the other characters out
of their way, throughout the play. It is through dialogue such as this that audiences are alerted to the
fact that Stanley intrinsically fails to consider the implications his own needs and wants have on
other people. Instead he is the one in control, the only person invested with power and subsequent
command, therefore the only one taken into consideration. A final show of authority is his over
powering presence within the poker games. Here he makes powerful statements, passing
judgements on the symbolic game, and asserting dominance.
Nothing belongs on a poker table but cards, chips, and whisky.
It is he who sets such rules, allowing no other comment or opinion. Therefore, it is through using
techniques such as dialogue, stage directions, foreshadow, and character, that Tennessee Williams
foregrounds society s attitudes to masculinity within the text.
Just as a character is provided to represent the stereotypical male, one is also provided as a
representation of femininity. Stella fulfils society s preconceptions of femininity perfectly, though
from today s perspective they may be considered as misconceptions. Her character is absolutely
passive and has a largely domestic role. From her first appearance in the play, she is found in

1535 AN EMPIRICAL EXAMINATION OF THE EXPORT LED GROWTH HYPOTHESIS IN
TURKEY1 Sami TABAN*, Д°smail AKTAR** ABSTRACT The export led growth [ELG]
hypothesis postulates a causal connection between export and growth. This study investigates ELG
hypothesis using quarterly time series data for the period 1980:1 2007:2 in Turkey. The hypothesis
is tested by applying the cointegration and error correction procedures. We find an evidence to
support the hypothesis that there is a long run and short run bidirectional causality relationship
between export growth and real GDP growth in Turkey. Key Words: Export Led Growth

It is also the source of the foreign exchanges that are very scarce in most developing countries
throughout the world. With these foreign exchanges, it could import better quality inputs and
more capitals. Of course, these entirely shift the country s production possibility curve further.
The remainder of the paper is organized as following. Section 2 briefly explains what export led
growth hypothesis is about. Section 3 deals with the empirical studies. Section 4 Taban, Aktar,
2008 1537 gives the details the methodological issues and about data set. Section 5 gives the
concluding marks. 2. EXPORT LED GROWTH [ELG] HYPOTHESIS Ricardo s theory of
comparative advantage explains that countries should specialize in the production of commodities
that they are most efficient at producing in relation to other countries, and trade those
commodities with the rest of the world. It is possible to say that a country can export its
commodities and consequently raise foreign currency, with which it can import the other
commodities in need. The better a country is at producing its specialized commodities, the more
revenue it will raise from its exports and the more it will be able to procure imports. This trade
theory has given birth to a new direction for economic policy, namely the export led growth [ELG]
hypothesis (Zuniga, 2000). The ELG hypothesis postulates that export expansion is a key

Adrienne Rich s Convocation Address
In Adrienne Rich s convocation address, Claiming an Education , she utilizes antithetical
comparisons to convey her belief that, as a student, we must claim our knowledge while in school
instead of merely attending class and expecting to receive an education. (Rich 98) Rich s
comparison between being spoon fed information and actively pursuing an educationis powerful
because her idea encourages us to consider the possibilities that emerge when we decide to take
learninginto our own hands. Rich s speech has influenced me to take responsibility for myself in
not only my education, but my personal life as well. For example, now that I am away from home
and living in my own dorm room, I have to independently address needs such as

Cell Membrane Permeability
Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as
oxygen, carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across
the membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the
membrane.
Membrane structure
The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events
of the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of
the cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid
bilayer, and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar
hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in
these structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids
with saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This
leads to a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit
packing and result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the
phospholipid bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher
temperatures the cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures
they allow for flexibility.

Analysis Of The Movie 12 Years A Slave
12 Years a Slave is a drama film about a free African American man, Solomon Northup, who was
kidnapped and sold to slavery. The movie was released in 2013 starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as
Solomon Northup, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Brad Pitt. 12 Years a Slave has earned three
Academy Awards and a Golden Globe. The movie is based off of a memoir written in 1853 by
Solomon Northup. The film is for people who are fascinated with history and enjoy dramatic
scenes. However, it is also a movie that informs viewers the behavior and acts of people during the
time of slavery. 12 Years a Slave is the journey of Solomon Northup and his survival. 12 Years a
Slave depicts the survival of Solomon Northup by trying to stay alive and not have cruelty and
death take over. The movie begins with Northup seen with his family and is content with his
life. However, two men, Brown and Hamilton, convince Northup to travel to Washington DC for
a high wage job. The two men seem legitimate in their deal, but it also foreshadows what will
happen to Northup by haunting music once all three were well acquainted with each other. Next,
Northup is chained in a dark cell with barely any light. The scene presents light snatched from his
life. Along with the light taken, his capability of moving has been restricted. He is taken to New
Orleans on a boat where he gets a new name, Platt, and sold to Ford, a plantation owner. Northup

Energy, Water, And Food
1.Abstract
Energy, water, and food are interdependent on one another. Water is the main contributor for the
production of agriculture along with other food substances. The distribution of water is reliant on
energy. Energy is used to pump water from the ground. Water is used in agricultural irrigation and
energy is used to harvest the crops for food. All three sectors are indicators of a strong society.
The relationships between these three sectors come with a cost. High amounts of energy are used to
extract water. Extraction is both monetarily and environmentally costly. Using water in irrigation
diverts river flows. Energy can be produced from rivers but diverting water to agriculture creates a
lower flow. The balance of the trade offs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Energy security is the concept that government should protect its citizens from crises that may arise
between the availability and consumption of energy. Challenges are seen in the manipulation of
power supplies because of uneven distribution to competition for energy resources.
Food security is emphasized by the access to a supply of food. Throughout history, many different
societies have struggled to maintain a sufficient supply of nutritious food for their citizens. The
limited availability of food arose from factors such as droughts, war, energy shortages.
Access to these three services is more about keeping a consistent supply to society, addressing
supply fluctuations in times of extreme situation. Addressing these securities require collaboration
among the sectors. Interdisciplinary communication in the politics of each sector can help plan for
future potential conflict. 3.Interactions Among Security Sectors
Energy, water, and food sectors work together in many ways. Water is used for the extraction of
energy supplies such as fossil fuels. It is also used in mining and processing energy supplies.
Energy is used in machinery for growing food and it is also used in the transportation of food
supplies. Agriculturally, feedstock is grown to create biofuels which generate power and electricity.
The cultivation of the amount of feedstock needed to create biofuel is

Effect Of The Witches In Macbeth
How do the witches affect the actions of Macbeth?
Macduff enters Holding Macbeth s Lifeless head. Hail King of Scotland! , Cheer the people.
How did it get to this? How did a soft hearted and honest noble like Macbeth get into this position?
The quick and easy answer is that it was the work of the three witches.
At the beginning of the play, the three witches gave Macbeth and Banquo prophecies; Macbeth will
be king, thane of Cawdor, and be thane of Glamis. They also said that Banquo s sons will be kings.
At first, Macbeth didn t think much about what the witches said until the first prophecy came true;
Macbeth was awarded Thane of Cawdor. After that Macbeth was sure that the witches were telling
the truth. He knew that he would one day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the apparitions told Macbeth to be bold, violent and laugh at men because no man born
from women would kill Macbeth. Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn the power of man,
for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth (4.1.81 83). Another one told Macbeth that he wouldn
t be defeated until Birnam Wood comes to fight him at Dunsinane Hill Be lion mettled, proud, and
take no care Who chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are. Macbeth shall never vanquish be until
Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill Shall come against him.
All these predictions made Macbeth very confident in himself. No man born from a woman
would kill him and for the woods of Great Birnam To come to Dunsinane Hill was almost
impossible, Or so he thought. He was motivated to be violent and bold in his actions. He killed
Macduff s wife and children and stayed to fight Macduff when Edward s army marched to
Dunsinane Hill with branches of Great Birnam. Since no man born of a woman could ever harm
him, Macbeth thought that he would be able to defeat Macduff. For example, when he killed
Young Siward Macbeth didn t even feel accomplished because he believed that he would never
lose a battle to a man and that he wouldn t be defeated until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane
Hill. Thou wast born of woman. But swords I Smile at, weapons laugh to scorn, Brandished by

Teenage Pregnancy
The Effects of Teenage Pregnancy
Pregnancy is beautiful; however, for a teenager it can be a philosophical event with long term
implications. Wall Wieler stated that, Teenage pregnancy is having at least one pregnancy between
the ages of 14 and 19 (inclusive) (4). Such a situation for teenagers comes with many obstacles.
Adolescence would lose the opportunity to fully enjoy their teen years. This is a once in a lifetime
experience, which would be cut short because of engaging in adult activities. There is also the
possibility of frustration, depression and confusion because the situation might be too much to
handle. In most cases, teen pregnancy will have a negative effect on the pregnant teen because it
will force them to be fully committed to the concerns and needs of the child while neglecting their
own.
In the same fashion, teen mothers would face the challenge of changing their life style to
accompany a child. Some teenagers will miss out on their education; this could mean not going
to school or potentially dropping out of school permanently to take care of their baby. According
to Huffman, Only 32 percent of teen mothers have graduated from high school that is, have
received a regular high school diploma by age 30, compared with over 84 percent of women who
delay motherhood. This figure is not surprising; the presence of a young child makes it very
difficult for teen mothers to continue their education (56). When a child drops out of school they
are prone to

The Complex Adaptive System Of A Healthcare Organization
The key to the success of a healthcare organization is defined by the many qualities and attributes
its leaders possess when overseeing patient care. Such care, whether executed at the micro, meso,
or macro level, can be beneficial to an organization, or results in the failure when change is
inappropriately addressed. A strong leader is one who can manage change, and direct care
throughout all the numerous levels of an organization by utilizing values that are a reflection of the
bureaucratic thoughts and principles, or the complex adaptive system. The complex adaptive
system is a comprehensive system that is complicated in nature and often can cause chaos and the
failure of an organization when change is not properly managed. During my professional career, I
have observed many styles of managementskills and found this to work both against an
organization and as well as, prove beneficial when handling change. The overall success of any
organization is dependent upon the quality attributes of its leaders. I believe the complex adaptive
method is a control method that forces the good employees away. A prime example of this style of
management was observed with the launching of computerizing charting.
Computers, as you are familiar with can be challenging, and as well as, they can create havoc
which can be devastating for some. Seasonal nurses are not so reluctant to give in to any changes,

The Dress Code At School
Have you ever had a problem with the dress code at your school? School that I attend has
numerous problems dealing with the dress code considering some of the students decided not to
follow it. Teachers have to take some time out of their class time to send the students to the office
for dressing inappropriately. Since students cannot follow the simple dress code, schools should
require students to wear uniforms. Few public schools in the Tennessee require students to wear
uniforms. In the current society, all you see in the schools is a dress code. In several countries,
schools require students to wear uniforms. For instance, the school that I went to in India required
uniforms too. Public schools requiring students to wear uniform will give them a sense of identity,
increase their academic performance in the school, and reduce discrimination between the students.
Frist of all, uniform gives students sense of identity; it creates a feeling of oneness and belonging
to their school. If you gather a group of people and dress them all in a mutual way, they are likely
to develop a group identity and a group ethic that has nothing to do with their personal identity or
their individual perceptions of right and wrong. All the members of that cluster will put the equal
effort in the work. What sport players, cheerleaders, and band people have in common is that they
all have their own uniform and work together as a team. A school uniformteaches students to dress
smartly and take

Political Changes In The Progressive Era
The history of the United States shows an improvement in its civilization from its origin to the
present. From the independence of the U.S. to the Civil Rights Movement. However, the biggest
change occurred during the Progressive Era; a time period where new ways of thinking started to
develop towards a more fair country. The social aspect had the biggest impact followed by political
changes and some economical. The first political change happened when the muckrakers decided
that the political parties were corrupt and people in the business industry had too much saying in
what the government did. For that reason the muckrakers decided to go against the railroads, the
primary industry that exercised power over the government (Brinkley 478). This was known as the
trust buster regulation, where monopolies were seeing as unfair and corrupt business. Even though
corruption was reduced, the muckrakers also sought to take out power from the bosses, who... Show

John Donne And Cecile Day Lewis
Since definition of love and its representation varies person to person and in the past it has already
been represented in various ways, which leads one to presume that language is insufficient to
represent love. However, it is evident that the language has proved to be sufficient enough to not
only analyze, dissect and explain the feelings of lovefrom so many angles including biologically.
Subversions of conventions of love is not the matter of insufficiency of language but a matter of
how a poet experiences love or how a poet chooses to express those experiences.
It is mainly the poet s era and life experiences that dictate how he/she represents love. Thomas
Wyatt, John Donne and Cecile Day Lewis are good examples of how life experiences can
determine the poets divergence of traditional courtly and pastoral love. An abreast analysis of the
above poets lives and their works allow us to draw parallels between their life experiences and their
subversions of conventions of love.
Thomas Wyatt s subversion of courtly love was influenced by his intimate relation with the
women. Sir Thomas Wyatt, an English ambassador suffered from his wife s infidelity and his
mistress s marriage with his king and later her execution. Due to his position of being an
ambassador of England left him no choice but to represent love in courtly and patriarchal manner.
Wyatt was deeply affected by the infidelity of his first wife and the execution of his mistress at the
hands of the monarch. For

Toyota Crisis: Management Ignorance?
Abstract
Since the late 2009, the famous vehicle manufacture Toyota has suffered a severe crisis due to
unintended quality problems in its cars which had triggered Toyota s largest officially recalls of its
cars around the world. This crisis threatens the company s previous reputation of good quality cars,
as well as the brand image built up over time. This study aims to elaborate on the Toyota crisis in
order to understand why Toyota faces this crisis and how they deal with the crisis; and investigate
consumers perceptions of Toyota brand as the outcome of the crisis, with a focus on Swedish

CONCLUSION
Since the late 2009, the famous vehicle manufacture Toyota has suffered a severe crisis due to
unintended quality problems in its cars. This had triggered Toyota s largest officially recalls of
nearly 9 million vehicles all over the world. This crisis has threatened the company s previous
reputation of building good quality and reliable cars, as well as damaging its brand image built
up over time. The managerial decisions taken by Toyota to deal with the crisis is considered as a
key issue to retrieve the former reputation, and to recover the trust and image held by the
customers. This study aims to elaborate on the Toyota crisis in order to understand why Toyota
faces this crisis and how Toyota deals with the crisis, and investigate Swedish consumers
perceptions of Toyota brand as the outcome of the crisis. The findings indicated that:
(1) Although there were external powers such as mass media that forced Toyota working even
harder on the crisis, it was Toyota itself that asks for most of its own misfortunes when they lost
quality focus in the rapid global expansion and failed to effectively

Napoleon Bonaparte s Accomplishments
Napoleon Bonaparte, self proclaimed Emperor of France and the famous military leader often
mocked for his, allegedly, short stature and bad temper. Regardless of how he is portrayed,
Napoleon was and still is an important figure in European history. Throughout his career,
Napoleon achieved many accomplishments both on and off the battlefield, but some of his
accomplishments were much greater than others. Napoleonic Code In 1804, Napoleon created
the French Civil Code, now commonly now as the Napoleonic Code. This code was a first step in
abandoning pre French Revolutionary laws. It also provided a common law to the entire realm,

Critical Analysis Of The Raven
Within the poem The Raven written by Edgar Allen Poe, is a speaker who lives alone. The speaker
within the poem must confront the reality of his circumstances, by admitting the death of his wife
named Lenore. Throughout the poem, Edgar Allen Poe describes the vicious cyclical combat of
grief through the speaker, as he imagines faint whispering and tapping on his door. Within his
psychotic episodes, the speaker witnesses a talking raven. The ravenacts as a symbol of truth
concerning the death of Lenore. Only to leave the speaker with the inability to accept his wife s
death.
Throughout the poem, Poe emphasizes characteristics of the speaker through the setting. The

This is due to the raven, ultimately linking the internal conflict of the speaker. The relationship
between the speaker s grieving process is seen through the speaker s perspective of the raven.
Because the raven represents the death of Lenore, Poe first introduces the raven within the poem
as a sudden, and fright full event. The uncertain rustling of each purple curtain catches the
speaker off guard, as it thrill[s] [him] fill[s] [him] with fantastic terrors never felt before (13 14).
By introducing the raven in a frightful manner, Poe implies that Lenore s death was sudden and
terrifying for the speaker. So sudden and terrifying, that the speaker must still the beating of [his]
heart (15). Which explains why the speaker distracts himself with the volume[s] of forgotten lore
within the first stanza; and explains why the speaker is suddenly intrigued with [the] visitor
entreating entrance at [his] door (2,16). To comfort himself, the speaker attempts to speak to the
visitor, only to find darkness there, and nothing more (24). By leaving the speaker alone with his
thoughts, Poe is emphasizing the speaker s loneliness and hints towards the speaker s grieving
process. Although it may seem as if the speaker admits to the death of his wife long I stood there
wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before (25 26). The
speaker begins to hear

Collaborative Conferences
Parents play a pivotal role in the academic success of students. Therefore, it is important for
educators to provide frequent opportunities for collaboration with families so they can support
student learning at home. Additionally, regular communication with parents helps them understand
the educational programs in schoolso they can monitor studentprogress and advocate for their child
s needs. The majority of students enrolled at Chattahoochee Elementary School (CES) are English
language learners. Often these kinds of language barriers can interfere with the collaborative

Teens Misunderstanding of the Dangers of Cosmetic Surgery
Introdcution
Surgery is dangerous! It s causes a lot of deaths, people pop the implants, add a few things to the
surgery that was already done and even sometimes want to do the surgery themselves. People do
not really think when it comes to cosmetic surgery they just go with what sounds better on their
mind. It s most likely a really dangerous thing to do and shouldn t be done on your body.
Body Image
Teens do not understand how dangerous cosmetic surgery can really be. Before, during and after
the surgeries, many of the surgeons talk about the accidents that have happened. All surgeons agree
that cosmetic surgery, is a real risk and can be a danger to the patient. Not alot of people actually
recommend this. A girls breast implants popped, causing the saline to spill into the body, the teen
was horrified and highly recommends not getting any procedures. Teens view plastic surgeryas a
way to fit in and look acceptable to friends and peers. Adults, on the other hand, frequently see
plastic surgery as a way to stand out from the crowd.(ASPS) . To paraphrase the quote, teens just
want to fit in, but adults do not agree, they just want to stand out. That shows that most teens don t
realize the danger of surgery they are more focused on the way they look because of their self
esteem.
Self Esteem
Teens use cosmetic surgery to help with their self esteem. Most think that by getting surgery done,
they appear perfect towards others. Teens, just want to fit it in so

Examples Of The Outsiders In The Outsiders
The Outsiders Essay It s hard to be a hero when you do some bad things to get there. In the novel
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton there are two completely different sides of town. The Socs are the
rich kids who drive expensive cars and wear expensive clothes and the Greasers are considered
the bums. They don t have money and they don t get whatever they want, they also have to work
extra hard to get to where they want to be. If you are considered a greaser you are a muffin and
the Socs are the cupcakes. Everybody would prefer a cupcake over a muffin, but in this story
two boys were just trying to protect themselves and they get into some trouble while doing it so,
they hit the road. I am going to tell you about whether or not Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes. In
my opinion Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes and that is because they both ran into a burning
building to save little kids from catching on fire and dying. People don t just sprint into burning
buildings for enjoyment everyday unless it s your job and even then they don t do it for fun.
They do it because they wanted to help save lives. Ponyboy going first showed that he didn t
want to wait for the fireman to come because it was now or never. I ll get them, don t worry! I
started at a dead run for the church, and the man caught my arm. I ll get them. You kids stay out!
I jerked loose and ran on. All I could think was: We started it. We started it. We started it! (
Hinton pg. 91). Ponyboy felt bad because he knew that the cigarette him and Johnny had
smoked started it. He risked his life to save those children, Johnny too. Johnny went in after
Ponyboy. I looked around, startled. I hadn t realized Johnny had been right behind me all the
way. (Hinton pg. 91/92). When Ponyboy was getting his head shoved in a fountain and held
there by a Soc, Johnny had jumped in to save him. Johnny may have killed the Soc, but he did it
to protect himself and Ponyboy, but Johnny is a greaser so he looks guilty to the police either
way. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy. (Hinton pg. 56). I don t know if you would call
this heroic, but I think it is. The greasers stand up for each other so, if you roll with them you
better be willing to die

inform teaching for improved student learning. Whenever I begin a unit, I access NAPLAN
results to allow me to gauge my students ability and progress, and adapt my pedagogies
accordingly. I also use TORC testing and On Demand data to provide me with the information
required to ensure my students are able to understand and complete my common formative
tasks. I attempt to provide prompt, useful and constructive feedback to my students. I ask my
students to submit their work using Edmodo, where I can offer assistance and feedback outside
of class times. I present my students with an anonymous work survey using Survey Monkey,
where they have the opportunity to self assess their previous work. I did this, as I wanted to
understand how my students believed they were performing before I assessed them myself. I
gave all of my students a variety of assessment tasks and methods to give them and their parents
with evidence of what students knew and could do, and their particular strengths and weaknesses.
I was then able to report on how far students had progressed during the year, how they compared
to the relevant standards, and where the student s performance needed improvement. This also
allowed me to reflect on my performance and to seek areas where I could improve my teaching.
At all of my schools, I have kept concise, accurate notes on student progress for all classes, to

Does it then seem unreasonable to you that those who chose to smoke, should pay higher taxes
for their health care since we know that smoking leads to a greater number of health issues? It
makes sense to me, they require the services of the health care system more than the average non
smoker would, so them paying more for this service seems only logical. It?s just not fair that
someone who tries to stay healthy by not smoking has to pay the same amount for health care as
someone who smokes excessively, not caring how it affects their health.
Large sums of tax money are funneled into covering the health care costs created by smokers.
This seems like such a waste, since all smoking related diseases are totally preventable and yet
our tax money is being used to pay for the treatment of them. This money could be used in a vast
number of other beneficial outlets. It could fund the further research of other non preventable
diseases such as cancer or AIDS, build more hospitals to care for the sick or it could go toward
the care and treatment of other patients. Therefore, if the smokers paid higher taxes they would
cover some of the health care costs they might accumulate and free up money for a variety of other
issues.
Not only would the implementation of charging smokers more taxes for their health care

Essay on Africa
Africa s Resistance to the Portuguese
The African history has been affected tremendously due to the influence of some European
countries. Portugal, who probably had the greatest impact on the continent, was not shy in
invading what they thought to be profitable circumstances. One of these areas that they profited
from was the kingdom of Kongo. Kongo was a major Bantu speaking kingdom astride the Congo
River in west central Africa, probably founded in the 14th century. It was governed by a king, the
manikongo, whose economic power was based upon trade in ivory, hides, slaves, and a shell
currency of western Africa.

By 1570 the power of the Kongo kingdom had begun to decline, and severe internal tensions had
developed. Alfonso I knowing what was going on wrote a series of papers to King Joao III of
Portugal. In these papers, Alfonso I pleaded with the king to take away all the corrupt Portuguese
from his kingdom. With false assurance from the king of Portugal, he asked to have sent those
people of religious and medical backgrounds to help modernize his kingdom. With the corruptness
still noticeable in the Kongo, Alfonso I was forced to pass a law stating that ...any white man
living in our Kingdoms and wanting to purchase goods in any way should first inform three of our
noblemen and officials of our court whom we rely upon in this matter... (57). These futile attempts
of writing letters to the king were not making any significance. The king of Portugal was money
hungry along with the majority of all his servants who worked for him down in Africa.
Some of the areas of Africa knew that letters to the king would not work alone. They were forced to
use action against the Portuguese. People known as Zimba did the military launches. Most of the
attacks were economically motivated. They were being used for the trade circuit. Zimba attacks
were successful against the Portuguese but they did not succeed in reestablishing the traditional
market for their ivory.

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Gilgamesh
In the Epic of Gilgamesh there are many notable relationships but the relationship between
Gilgamesh and Enkidu is hands down the most noteworthy. When analyzing the relationship of
Gilgamesh and Enkidu there are many factors that go into play. It is really the sole foundation of
the whole Sumerian epic and it really changes the whole personality of Gilgamesh. In order to
get a better understanding of how the two characters complement each other we have to first
break down their individual appearances and characteristics. After that is made clear then it is
more appropriate to begin to analyze their relationship which in time turns out to be a
relationship for the ages. Gilgamesh like many other mythological heroes was fortunate enough
to be made up of two parts, part man and part god. Of all of the men in his land he was the
greatest and before he met Enkidu he used that to his advantage in both positive and negative
ways. He was the most ferocious warrior and the most creative architect they had ever seen.
Before the arrival of his better half, Gilgamesh used to force hard labor upon his people, rape his
women, and selfishly indulge his appetite. With that being said you can pretty see with a clear
eye view that before Enkidu s arrival, Gilgamesh was not that easy to like. Enkidu on the other
hand is described as being a hairy chested and brawny man. He was made from clay by Aruru, who
is the goddess of creation. He was indeed created to take away all of the arrogance

The Middle East State System
Course overview
This course aims to educate students regarding the modern (post 1970) trajectory of US foreign
policy in regards the Middle East, and how such policy has influenced the Middle East state
system. Both in recent history and presently, the US role in the region has been pivotal in shaping
the regional system as well as ensuring the stability of the regional status quo. The various interests
that drive US foreign policy in the region will be examined.
The US, of course, does not implement its foreign policy in a void, and therefore gaining a
background on the regional state and non state actors that the US must grapple with is vital. The
regional dynamics which affected the US position in the region, such as the Arab Spring, also must
be accounted for in any thorough description of the formulation of US policy.
To account for these factors, the course utilizes both a chronological approach to the historical
development of US foreign policy toward the region, as well as including substantial background on
the important regional actors with which the US interacts with. Finally, it includes a select few
readings related to theoretical concepts in International Relations to provide a context for analysis
of policy. All these elements should grant students a well rounded comprehension of the various
factors which influence the Middle East state system and related US foreign policy.
Through this course, students should gain a fuller understanding of the role that the

How The Ussr Is Still Haunting Europe Essay
How the USSR is Still Haunting Europe
After twenty six years, the nations that were granted independence from the Russian Federation
are still dealing with the affects of the fallout; In particular, Russia s European neighbor, Ukraine.
In an article dated September 29th, from the Russian News Agency TASS, it gives an overview of
the recent implications of the civil war in the Donbass region. Russia and Germany are urging the
Ukrainian Government to follow the Minsk Protocol, in order to keep peace and maintain a
working relationship between all the countries listed on the agreement (TASS 2016). There has
been constant conflict in the Donbass region since the beginning of 2014, with times of cease fire,
but nothing significant. The conflict is a result of the Russian demographic in Eastern Ukraine,
wanting separation from a Western influenced Ukraine. This paper will examine the geographical
aspect of this relationship and how it has affected the conflict.
How History and Geography have Played a Role

time, they were reported to be worth $750,000 in 1952. Adjusted for inflation, as of 2016 the

Rites Of Passage In The Glass Castle
As we grow older, we develop by passing through the rites of passages. These rites are commonly
portrayed in literary works and in movies. An example of a work that contains the rites of passage
would be The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls. This book is a memoir about her life as a child
with parents who could never settle down. She worked herself from the bottom up, and continues to
strive as a published author and journalist. Although The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls, contains
many rites of passage, the three most prominent would be loss, risk taking, and achieving a goal. In
her memoir, Jeannette struggled with loss because of her familys lifestyle. As Jeanette put it, on
page 19, We were always doing the skedaddle . . . The Walls constantly moved to avoid police
and the idea of settling down. When moving, the family usually moved to remote locations,
working odd jobs for money. Another example of of loss in Jeannette s life is when her parents
threw her cat out of the car. Her mother claimed, Cat s don t like travel, on page 18. Jeannette
said, [My father] stopped the car, grabbed Quixote by the scruff of the neck, and tossed him out
the window. Her father sped up the car and drove off, leaving the cat in the dust behind them. In
addition to the lossof her cat, Jeannette s grandmother passed away. Although, Jeannette was not
very close to her grandmother, she mourned the loss of her family member. Although loss is

Career Options And Qualifications Of The Certified
Business certifications attest to the expertise and qualifications of the certified. They offer a chance
of higher pay while serving to elevate professional status with a title of distinction within a specific
field of study. While each certification has many benefits each one comes with a set of costs and
requirements. These often hefty certification requirements accompany a costly exam and expensive
study materials that can potentially set an applicant back in both time and money. Many of these
business certification fields cover broad topics such as Accounting, Financial Planning, and
Economics.
Accountants aspiring to have more career options and to move up the corporate ladder should
become a Certified Public Accountant. This certification speaks to the knowledge, credentials and
overall ability of the certified and will command the respect of employers and peers ( How
Much Does it Cost to Become a CPA? ). For those aspiring to become corporate level managers
or partners in a firm, a CPA is required due to the prestige and respect that accompanies it
(NASBA). Even minor promotions and raises are much easier with the CPA certification.
Accountants who also desire higher pay should pursue the this certification. According to the 2015
Robert Half Salary Guide, CPAs can earn between 5% and 15% more than their non credentialed
counterparts (NASBA).
To pursue this certification in Wisconsin, candidates that are ready to test should apply through the
NASBA website, which

Summary Of Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau
To some, adventurers like Chris McCandless are young, idealistic, and resolute people with high
moral standards. They want to take everything they can out of life, and they want to experience
every facet of it. However, this isn t a view everyone shares. To others, McCandless was an
irrational kid with no experience who couldn t handle his family issues. On the other hand, Henry
David Thoreauis viewed as a calm, steady, and contemplative man with a dedicated love of
nature. Chris McCandless and Henry David Thoreau share many similarities, but they also have
defining differences. Chris was different from Thoreau because he was running from his past
whereas Thoreau wanted to go to the woods, and Chris overestimated himself whereas Thoreau
was more level headed, but they were similar in that they both didn t believe in material objects.
Chris went into the wild because he wanted to escape his past and because of his general hatred
towards prejudice against society, while Thoreau was more positively motivated to go to the
wilderness. His motivation to go to the woods was negative because he was running away from
something. Although his friends and family described him as very independent and motivated
to go against everything he was taught, his real motivation was because of his family struggles.
Chris s father, Walt, never fully divorced his ex wife, Marcia, and he still had relations with her
despite being married to Billie. When Billie found out, she was very hurt, and so were Walt and
Marcia. However, to make amends, Walt finalized the divorce with Marcia. They resolved the
problem and moved on. When Chris unearthed this truth, he was unbelievably upset, but he didn
t address it directly. Instead, he waited years to talk about it, occasionally shunning his parents
and judging them behind their backs. Chris was very self righteous, and he took every
opportunity to denounce his father even though the issue of the divorce had been resolved. He
expressed his anger in a very passive way, and because he never found real closure, his anger
accumulated. He decided to release his anger indirectly. This is why he took classes on racial
inequality, and why he was so mad about poverty in the United States. His outrage

By The 1980 S And Into Most Of The 1990 S, The Asian...
By the 1980 s and into most of the 1990 s, the Asian marketplace in its entirety could have been
seen as nothing less than a miracle. Business s were booming, and economies in the region enjoyed
a GDP growth rate nearing about 10% per year which was about 4 to 5 times the growth rate of the
US economy at the time. This began in the 80 s when foreign investments in most Asian countries
began to increase. Stable governments were luring foreign investors, with the promise of high
returns, and currencies that were tightly pinned to the US dollar that began throwing money into
the ASEAN 5 (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand). Excitement in
foreign investment greatly helps those foreign economies which... Show more content on

As the economy in Thailand began to slow, foreign confidence in it began to falter as well. Just
like many other currencies, the value of Thai currency (the Baht) had been pegged to the US
dollar in order to ensure stability. At the time, however, the robust US economy was raising the
value of the dollar, therefore the value of the baht, causing some foreign investors to believe that
it was overvalued. Investors began selling the baht in exchange for the US dollar because the
dollar s value had a more certain future. Speculators jumped on the bandwagon and began selling
their supply of baht in record amounts in order to lower its value and realize a profit. In July of
1997, Thailand s central bank devalued the baht or unpegged and lowered its value from the dollar
in an effort to stop the sudden and massive sell off in order to restore confidence in the currency.
When used in non emergency situations, devaluation of a country s currency can work to its
advantage. When Thailand devalued the baht, it was able to lower the price of Thai goods in US
dollar terms, which made making those products more competitive in foreign markets. Devaluation
also tends to attract foreign investment in the country. However, this created an emergency
situation, and devaluation of the baht only revealed the fundamental weaknesses in the Thai
economy and banking system which continued in the domino effect to other Asian countries.

Mean Square Error Essay
The design has been implemented taken into account the analysis of Mean Square Error. It has
been implemented with the help of MATLAB . Adaptive frequency domain least mean square (FD

hardware complexity, the convergence speed of the adaptive FD LMS algorithm is another
important consideration. Propose a noise power spectral density (PSD) directed adaptive FD LMS

The Acts Of The Christian Movement Essay
The story of the Acts details the growth of the Christian movement from a small group of
dedicated followers into a multi ethnic, international movement. As quoted by The Bible Project,
[Acts] is a story about Jesus leading his people by the spirit to go out into the world and invite all
nations to live under his reign (Mackie Acts Ch. 1 12. ). Traditionally this book has been called
the Acts of the Apostles because it describes the apostles deeds in spreading Jesusmessage. As Paul
and Peter journey through the ancient world they bring with them the word of God. Sinners,
gentiles, and persecutors alike are invited to join the movement and seek salvation. In Acts, Luke
details the growth of the Christian movement and attributes that growth to the power of Jesus and
his message of welcome which invites an ethnically and geographically diverse followership.
The story begins in Jerusalem where the risen Jesus Christ describes God s kingdom to his
disciples and instructs them to carry the message of His kingdom to the ends of the earth. The
disciples begin during the Festival of the Pentacost at which Jewish pilgrims from all over the
ancient world have gathered. Thousands of these pilgrims receive God s message and accept his
calling to create communities of generosity and worship. Before the disciples leave Jerusalem, they
are preaching to a mostly Jewish crowd. As such, their persuasive methods are generally geared to
the Jewish tradition. First, the disciples claim

Ethnographic Research Paper for Intercultural Communication
Background My site of investigation is a dance studio, namely Fit Dance Studio, in Kowloon Bay.
It has been, without a second thought, chosen for my ethnographic research because I have been an
active participant over there recurrently for five years on a regular basis. I have been going to the
dance classes and joining regular parties with other participants, including dance tutors and students
of different ages and backgrounds from time to time. In this regard, my ethnographic data may
sound and accurate with my understanding about the community. I acquire the data through
observational techniques and participation in the practice. Since my participation is a long process

Suet does a lot of part time job and likes flexible schedule. Suki has a fixed and packed schedule
for formal dancing job and part time tutorials. Suet joined the 2012 Sha Tin District Dance

Suet told Suki after the practice that she would like to cancel the supervision on 30th and rearrange
it to another day, without telling the reason that she would have to work. Suki then told her the
time was arranged and she was not available for other period during that week. She expressed it

Theme Of Blindness In Oedipus The King
Greek literature has been known to utilize dramatic irony, which allows the character s motives
clear to the audience although unknown to the main character itself. Sophocles introduces the
Greek tragedy Oedipus the King using this literary technique moving on to develop the concept
of blindness and sight. In fact, this text deals with the idea of blindness and sight revealed by a
character both literally and figuratively. The play introduces the Greek city state called Thebes,
which is suffering a great plague causing the state to fall apart. A prophecy has been set to recover
the plaque by which King Oedipusmust find the killer of Laius, his predecessor. Throughout the
play, Sophocles displays an overarching question of which characters are considered blind, one who
remains blind and ignorant to the truth or one who is depleted of sight embracing the certainty of
the circumstances. Based on Oedipus s motivations, character development, and interactions over
the course of the play, Sophocles develops the theme that when power and ignorance camouflage
the truth, agony and despair will follow as the truth unfolds.
In the starting of the play, Sophocles introduces Oedipus possessing great power and reputation
therefore leading him to be unaware of his truth. For example, when Oedipus interacts with
Teiresias, the blind prophet, Oedipus says,
Oh I ll let loose, I have such Fury in me now I see it all. You helped hatch the plot, you did the

Coronary Artery Disease Research Paper
Abstract
The heart is composed of four chambers, the right and left atrium and the right and left ventricles.
This important muscle is used to pump and create pressure to circulate blood throughout our
bodies2. It is important for our heart to properly function because it helps blood deliver important
nutrients and oxygen to the rest of our body. The heart is located in between the lungs (2/3 slightly
tilted to the left), in the central portion of the thorax2. The atria collect the blood versus the
ventricles which pump out the blood to the rest of the body. In order for the heart to properly
function is must also receive enough oxygen and proper electrical stimulus. The coronary arteries
are in charge of distributing adequate amounts of oxygen to the heart2. The heart s nodes help the
heart function with electrical impulses which allow the heart to contract. These are also known as
the pacemakers of the heart. Failure to properly function can result in a heart attack.
Introduction

Benefits Of Having A Circumcision
Male Circumcision s
Many years people have made the conscious decision to either circumcise their new born baby or
have the surgery themselves and remove the foreskin from the penis. However, most people make
these decisions are solely based on culture and religion rather than the need of the patient.
Although some may argue that it is a necessary act for a new born baby boy to be circumcised due
to the fact that maintaining care is much more efficient. There are other whom deem this practice
unethical and inhumanly unnecessary. That having this surgical procedure done can cause more
harm for either the baby and cause medical and physical problems in the years to come of a young
and growing man.
Benefits of having a circumcision #1
Many people thought the world have either chosen to have the surgical surgery to remove the
foreskin around the penis or have the chose for the hours old infant son. As with any surgical
procedure it is preformed to prevent future problems and improve a person s way of life. For
instance, an uncircumcised male could develop a medical condition known as phimosis.

painful and is susceptible to harboring bacteria. In addition, to bacterial infects those that are not

The Next Generation of Virtualization and Software Defined Networking (SDN)
The network infrastructure industry is evolving and following a path of first generation server
hardware to application specific servers to virtual machines. The second generation is migrating
from function specific network hardware to software based virtual functions. Now, software
defined networking (SDN) offers nearly infinite economies of scale by replacing expensive
networking hardware with software. SDN moves network control out of hardware devices onto a
software infrastructure, thus decoupling traditional hardware functions from closed proprietary
software thereby providing extensive agility to network and data center operators. One of the key
enablers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As enterprise adoption accelerates. the market for open source SDN controller solutions has gained
tremendous momentum through Linux Foundation initiatives like OpenDaylight (ODL) and Open
Networking Operating System (ONOS). In particular, OpenDaylight has emerged as the second
generation of SDN technologies led by industry luminaries like Inocybe. Inocybe is positioned as
an effective way to deploy next generation software defined solutions. In effect, Inocybe helps
CSPs, enterprises and network operators to more effectively deploy, integrate, and manage Cloud,
Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G virtual networking solutions from the data center to the edge, at
scale.
NV and SDN controller solutions create a logical connection between hardware and virtualized
infrastructure. By doing so, this enables CSPs and operators to simplify how they manage
networks and speed up the delivery of revenue generating services. In the past, CSPs and telecoms
would deploy expensive and proprietary hardware solutions from vendors like Cisco, Ericsson,
Nokia, and Huawei to stand up traditional communications networks. Now, these same
organizations can deploy software based solutions, at scale, across standardized commodity off the
shelf (COTS) hardware which in effect improves scalability at a lower cost.

Why Is Ma Rainey Important
Gertrude Ma Rainey is a pivotal figure in the history of American music. She was the first person to
ever perform blues and the first internationally known African American female blues singer. Her
music acted as inspiration for many distinguished figures during the Harlem Renaissance, and
continues to influence contemporary music and art.
A single source of blues music cannot be traced, but Ma Rainey is rightfully credited with
introducing it to the world. Hence the reason she was dubbed as The Mother of the Blues .
During an interview in the 1930s, Ma told musicologist John Work, that she heard what would
be called blues, for the first time around 1902. She was in a small town in Missouri working a
show at the time, and one morning a local girl came into the tent singing about a man whom had
left her. This new style of soulful music drew in Ma Rainey so much she later had the girl teach
her the song. Rainey performed the song as an encore in a show soon after, earning a special place
in the show, and marking the start of her career (Jas Obrecht Archive).
Gertrude Pridgett was born in 1986 to tent performers Thomas Pridgett Sr. and Ella Allen Pridgett.
Both were said to had traveled around the south performing minstrel shows, which was the most
popular form of live comedy entertainment from 1840 to the early nineteenth century
(Biography.com). Because of her parents involvement, Gertrude had always been surrounded by
show business and always had a love for singing and

  • 2. How Entrepreneurs Differ from Other Business Owners Essay There has been a large amount of attention paid to the subject of entrepreneurship in the last few years; mainly because most people have chosen to go from working for somebody else to be their own bosses and work for their dreams. Yet, many still wonder what is entrepreneurship and what is that sets entrepreneurs apart from other regular businessowners? Free lance writer and expert in economic issues Jeanne Holden suggest: There is no one definitive profile of an entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs come in various ages, income levels, gender, and race. They differ in education and experience. But research indicates that most successful entrepreneurs share certain personal attributes, including: creativity, dedication, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, in the middle of starting up a new business entrepreneurs need determination in order to never give up, even when things seem harder than what they expected; this determination makes their focus always be on achieving their goals and success. This must work in conjunction with flexibility, because every entrepreneur must know how to adapt to the changing world and trends in the business environment, entrepreneurs competing with already established companies must be open for change and improvement. After a entrepreneur has managed to establish himself as a business owner, he uses other skills to walk toward success, these are leadership and passion. Leadership is the capacity of directing and influencing others; an entrepreneur must also be a leader in order to run a successful business where employees feel moved and inspired to give the best of them each day. And leadership could not exist without passion, because that is what makes an entrepreneur feel confident about a new idea and keeps him focus on his main goal, while also inspiring the people around him. Self confidence is what makes an entrepreneur make the right and the smartest decision at the right time, they have to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Musical Theatre Throughout my entire life I have never had any real interest in musical theatre. One time when I was in about 5th grade, my grandfather took me, my brother and my cousin to a showing of the Nutcracker. Let me tell you, I tried my hardest, I really tried, but I couldn t stay awake for the entire performance. This experience I had put a bad taste in my mouth as for the next several years, I never attended another musical theatreevent. One day in the spring, I was going through Golden Bear Advising, and I saw that Berkeley recommended that everyone should listen to the Hamilton soundtrack. I didn t know much about the musical other than that a couple of my friends in my high school s theatre company listened to it. My first thought was that it must be better than the Nutcracker, so I decided I d give it a chance. About 15 seconds into Alexander Hamilton I remember saying out loud, hmm wow, this bumps! My first time listening to the soundtrack, I didn t listen to it all the way through, but I was definitely hooked I wanted to keep listening. Over the summer, whenever I d go on long car rides, I d try to listen to the soundtrack. To be honest, before I listened to the soundtrack, I didn t think that I would like it, simply because I wasn t a fan of musical theatre. However, I was blown away and thoroughly the music, the way in which it was presented and the story that was told. What sticks out to me about the soundtrack is that it kept my attention because at the end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

RF is a 49 year old male with an admitting diagnosis of cervicalgia cervical herniation, and a scheduled surgery for an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at C4 C5 and C6 C7. According to Sharon Lewis in Medical Surgical Nursing , the cause of a cervicalgia cervical herniation is the result of natural degeneration with age or repeated stress and trauma to the spine. Upon observation of the circulating nurse, I noticed that she was very interactive and involved in the surgery. One of the responsibilities of the circulating nurse is to retrieve any surgical supplies that are not available in the operating room and to make or receive any calls for the surgeon. During the surgery, I noticed the nurse call for an x ray for the surgeon, the laboratory for biopsy samples, and the operating room floor front desk to inform them that the surgery would be later than expected. This is her responsibility as the surgeon cannot break sterility by touching the phone and it is easier for him to communicate through her and not leave the surgical site. Also in the operating room, I observed the scrub nurses roles. Before the operation, the scrub nurse opened all of the sterile packages, arranged them on the sterile field, and took count of what was there along with the circulating nurse. The scrub nurse did this because she is sterile during the entire procedure, and once the sterile packs are opened, the contents can only be handled by sterile personnel. The scrub nurse also was ready and waiting at the sterile field at all times to get the surgeon any equipment needed from the sterile field. This is helpful to the surgeon because it enables the surgeon to stay at the surgical site and convenient for when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Gender Struggle in A Streetcar Named Desire by... After two world wars, the balance of power between the genders in America had completely shifted. Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire is a harsh, yet powerful play that exposes the reality of the gender struggle. Williams illustrates society s changing attitudes towards masculinity and femininity through his eloquent use of dramatic devices such as characterization, dialogue, setting, symbolism, and foreshadowing. Stanley, the protagonist, is a symbol for society s view of the stereotypical male. He is muscular, forceful, and dominant. Stanley s domination becomes so overwhelming that he demands absolute control. This view of the male as a large animal is revealed in the opening of the play where Stanley is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His statement that: Be comfortable is my motto is almost contradictory, considering that the character does all he can to put the other characters out of their way, throughout the play. It is through dialogue such as this that audiences are alerted to the fact that Stanley intrinsically fails to consider the implications his own needs and wants have on other people. Instead he is the one in control, the only person invested with power and subsequent command, therefore the only one taken into consideration. A final show of authority is his over powering presence within the poker games. Here he makes powerful statements, passing judgements on the symbolic game, and asserting dominance. Nothing belongs on a poker table but cards, chips, and whisky. It is he who sets such rules, allowing no other comment or opinion. Therefore, it is through using techniques such as dialogue, stage directions, foreshadow, and character, that Tennessee Williams foregrounds society s attitudes to masculinity within the text. Just as a character is provided to represent the stereotypical male, one is also provided as a representation of femininity. Stella fulfils society s preconceptions of femininity perfectly, though from today s perspective they may be considered as misconceptions. Her character is absolutely passive and has a largely domestic role. From her first appearance in the play, she is found in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This study investigates ELG hypothesis using quarterly time series data for the period 1980:1 2007:2 in Turkey. The hypothesis is tested by applying the cointegration and error correction procedures. We find an evidence to support the hypothesis that there is a long run and short run bidirectional causality relationship between export growth and real GDP growth in Turkey. Section 4 Taban, Aktar, 2008 1537 gives the details the methodological issues and about data set. Section 5 gives the concluding marks. 2. EXPORT LED GROWTH [ELG] HYPOTHESIS Ricardo s theory of comparative advantage explains that countries should specialize in the production of commodities that they are most efficient at producing in relation to other countries, and trade those commodities with the rest of the world. It is possible to say that a country can export its commodities and consequently raise foreign currency, with which it can import the other commodities in need. The better a country is at producing its specialized commodities, the more revenue it will raise from its exports and the more it will be able to procure imports. This trade theory has given birth to a new direction for economic policy, namely the export led growth [ELG] hypothesis (Zuniga, 2000). • 8. Cell Membrane Permeability Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as oxygen, carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across the membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the membrane. Membrane structure The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events of the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of the cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid bilayer, and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in these structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids with saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This leads to a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit packing and result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the phospholipid bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher temperatures the cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures they allow for flexibility. The distribution of water is reliant on energy. Energy is used to pump water from the ground. Water is used in agricultural irrigation and energy is used to harvest the crops for food. All three sectors are indicators of a strong society. The relationships between these three sectors come with a cost. High amounts of energy are used to extract water. Extraction is both monetarily and environmentally costly. Using water in irrigation diverts river flows. Energy can be produced from rivers but diverting water to agriculture creates a lower flow. Energy security is the concept that government should protect its citizens from crises that may arise between the availability and consumption of energy. Challenges are seen in the manipulation of power supplies because of uneven distribution to competition for energy resources. Food security is emphasized by the access to a supply of food. Throughout history, many different societies have struggled to maintain a sufficient supply of nutritious food for their citizens. The limited availability of food arose from factors such as droughts, war, energy shortages. Access to these three services is more about keeping a consistent supply to society, addressing supply fluctuations in times of extreme situation. Addressing these securities require collaboration among the sectors. Interdisciplinary communication in the politics of each sector can help plan for future potential conflict. 3.Interactions Among Security Sectors Energy, water, and food sectors work together in many ways. Water is used for the extraction of energy supplies such as fossil fuels. It is also used in mining and processing energy supplies. • 12. Teenage Pregnancy The Effects of Teenage Pregnancy Pregnancy is beautiful; however, for a teenager it can be a philosophical event with long term implications. Wall Wieler stated that, Teenage pregnancy is having at least one pregnancy between the ages of 14 and 19 (inclusive) (4). Such a situation for teenagers comes with many obstacles. Adolescence would lose the opportunity to fully enjoy their teen years. This is a once in a lifetime experience, which would be cut short because of engaging in adult activities. There is also the possibility of frustration, depression and confusion because the situation might be too much to handle. In most cases, teen pregnancy will have a negative effect on the pregnant teen because it will force them to be fully committed to the concerns and needs of the child while neglecting their own. In the same fashion, teen mothers would face the challenge of changing their life style to accompany a child. Some teenagers will miss out on their education; this could mean not going to school or potentially dropping out of school permanently to take care of their baby. According to Huffman, Only 32 percent of teen mothers have graduated from high school that is, have received a regular high school diploma by age 30, compared with over 84 percent of women who delay motherhood. This figure is not surprising; the presence of a young child makes it very difficult for teen mothers to continue their education (56). When a child drops out of school they are prone to ... The Complex Adaptive System Of A Healthcare Organization The key to the success of a healthcare organization is defined by the many qualities and attributes its leaders possess when overseeing patient care. Such care, whether executed at the micro, meso, or macro level, can be beneficial to an organization, or results in the failure when change is inappropriately addressed. A strong leader is one who can manage change, and direct care throughout all the numerous levels of an organization by utilizing values that are a reflection of the bureaucratic thoughts and principles, or the complex adaptive system. The complex adaptive system is a comprehensive system that is complicated in nature and often can cause chaos and the failure of an organization when change is not properly managed. During my professional career, I have observed many styles of managementskills and found this to work both against an organization and as well as, prove beneficial when handling change. The overall success of any organization is dependent upon the quality attributes of its leaders. I believe the complex adaptive method is a control method that forces the good employees away. A prime example of this style of management was observed with the launching of computerizing charting. School that I attend has numerous problems dealing with the dress code considering some of the students decided not to follow it. Teachers have to take some time out of their class time to send the students to the office for dressing inappropriately. Since students cannot follow the simple dress code, schools should require students to wear uniforms. Few public schools in the Tennessee require students to wear uniforms. In the current society, all you see in the schools is a dress code. In several countries, schools require students to wear uniforms. For instance, the school that I went to in India required uniforms too. Public schools requiring students to wear uniform will give them a sense of identity, increase their academic performance in the school, and reduce discrimination between the students. Frist of all, uniform gives students sense of identity; it creates a feeling of oneness and belonging to their school. If you gather a group of people and dress them all in a mutual way, they are likely to develop a group identity and a group ethic that has nothing to do with their personal identity or their individual perceptions of right and wrong. All the members of that cluster will put the equal effort in the work. • 18. John Donne And Cecile Day Lewis Since definition of love and its representation varies person to person and in the past it has already been represented in various ways, which leads one to presume that language is insufficient to represent love. However, it is evident that the language has proved to be sufficient enough to not only analyze, dissect and explain the feelings of lovefrom so many angles including biologically. Subversions of conventions of love is not the matter of insufficiency of language but a matter of how a poet experiences love or how a poet chooses to express those experiences. It is mainly the poet s era and life experiences that dictate how he/she represents love. Thomas Wyatt, John Donne and Cecile Day Lewis are good examples of how life experiences can determine the poets divergence of traditional courtly and pastoral love. An abreast analysis of the above poets lives and their works allow us to draw parallels between their life experiences and their subversions of conventions of love. Thomas Wyatt s subversion of courtly love was influenced by his intimate relation with the women. This is a line describing a public execution from Get it Right: Privatize Executions by Arthur Miller. In his Article, Miller paints a rather disturbing picture for the audience. Miller describes a hypothetical public execution whereas the audience would consume the event similar to how we would a sporting event. • 28. Examples Of The Outsiders In The Outsiders The Outsiders Essay It s hard to be a hero when you do some bad things to get there. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. They don t have money and they don t get whatever they want, they also have to work extra hard to get to where they want to be. If you are considered a greaser you are a muffin and the Socs are the cupcakes. Everybody would prefer a cupcake over a muffin, but in this story two boys were just trying to protect themselves and they get into some trouble while doing it so, they hit the road. I am going to tell you about whether or not Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes. In my opinion Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes and that is because they both ran into a burning building to save little kids from catching on fire and dying. People don t just sprint into burning buildings for enjoyment everyday unless it s your job and even then they don t do it for fun. They do it because they wanted to help save lives. Ponyboy going first showed that he didn t want to wait for the fireman to come because it was now or never. I ll get them, don t worry! I started at a dead run for the church, and the man caught my arm. I ll get them. You kids stay out! I jerked loose and ran on. All I could think was: We started it. We started it. We started it! ( Hinton pg. 91). Ponyboy felt bad because he knew that the cigarette him and Johnny had smoked started it. He risked his life to save those children, Johnny too. Johnny went in after Ponyboy. I looked around, startled. I hadn t realized Johnny had been right behind me all the way. (Hinton pg. 91/92). When Ponyboy was getting his head shoved in a fountain and held there by a Soc, Johnny had jumped in to save him. Johnny may have killed the Soc, but he did it to protect himself and Ponyboy, but Johnny is a greaser so he looks guilty to the police either way. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy. (Hinton pg. 56). I don t know if you would call this heroic, but I think it is. The greasers stand up for each other so, if you roll with them you better be willing to die ... It makes sense to me, they require the services of the health care system more than the average non smoker would, so them paying more for this service seems only logical. It?s just not fair that someone who tries to stay healthy by not smoking has to pay the same amount for health care as someone who smokes excessively, not caring how it affects their health. Large sums of tax money are funneled into covering the health care costs created by smokers. This seems like such a waste, since all smoking related diseases are totally preventable and yet our tax money is being used to pay for the treatment of them. When analyzing the relationship of Gilgamesh and Enkidu there are many factors that go into play. It is really the sole foundation of the whole Sumerian epic and it really changes the whole personality of Gilgamesh. In order to get a better understanding of how the two characters complement each other we have to first break down their individual appearances and characteristics. After that is made clear then it is more appropriate to begin to analyze their relationship which in time turns out to be a relationship for the ages. Gilgamesh like many other mythological heroes was fortunate enough to be made up of two parts, part man and part god. Of all of the men in his land he was the greatest and before he met Enkidu he used that to his advantage in both positive and negative ways. He was the most ferocious warrior and the most creative architect they had ever seen. Before the arrival of his better half, Gilgamesh used to force hard labor upon his people, rape his women, and selfishly indulge his appetite. They offer a chance of higher pay while serving to elevate professional status with a title of distinction within a specific field of study. While each certification has many benefits each one comes with a set of costs and requirements. These often hefty certification requirements accompany a costly exam and expensive study materials that can potentially set an applicant back in both time and money. Many of these business certification fields cover broad topics such as Accounting, Financial Planning, and Economics. Accountants aspiring to have more career options and to move up the corporate ladder should become a Certified Public Accountant. • 43. Summary Of Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau To some, adventurers like Chris McCandless are young, idealistic, and resolute people with high moral standards. They want to take everything they can out of life, and they want to experience every facet of it. However, this isn t a view everyone shares. To others, McCandless was an irrational kid with no experience who couldn t handle his family issues. On the other hand, Henry David Thoreauis viewed as a calm, steady, and contemplative man with a dedicated love of nature. Chris McCandless and Henry David Thoreau share many similarities, but they also have defining differences. Chris was different from Thoreau because he was running from his past whereas Thoreau wanted to go to the woods, and Chris overestimated himself whereas Thoreau was more level headed, but they were similar in that they both didn t believe in material objects. Chris went into the wild because he wanted to escape his past and because of his general hatred towards prejudice against society, while Thoreau was more positively motivated to go to the wilderness. His motivation to go to the woods was negative because he was running away from something. Although his friends and family described him as very independent and motivated to go against everything he was taught, his real motivation was because of his family struggles. Chris s father, Walt, never fully divorced his ex wife, Marcia, and he still had relations with her despite being married to Billie. When Billie found out, she was very hurt, and so were Walt and Marcia. However, to make amends, Walt finalized the divorce with Marcia. They resolved the problem and moved on. When Chris unearthed this truth, he was unbelievably upset, but he didn t address it directly. Instead, he waited years to talk about it, occasionally shunning his parents and judging them behind their backs. Chris was very self righteous, and he took every opportunity to denounce his father even though the issue of the divorce had been resolved. He expressed his anger in a very passive way, and because he never found real closure, his anger accumulated. He decided to release his anger indirectly. This is why he took classes on racial inequality, and why he was so mad about poverty in the United States. His outrage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Business s were booming, and economies in the region enjoyed a GDP growth rate nearing about 10% per year which was about 4 to 5 times the growth rate of the US economy at the time. This began in the 80 s when foreign investments in most Asian countries began to increase. Stable governments were luring foreign investors, with the promise of high returns, and currencies that were tightly pinned to the US dollar that began throwing money into the ASEAN 5 (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand). As the economy in Thailand began to slow, foreign confidence in it began to falter as well. Just like many other currencies, the value of Thai currency (the Baht) had been pegged to the US dollar in order to ensure stability. At the time, however, the robust US economy was raising the value of the dollar, therefore the value of the baht, causing some foreign investors to believe that it was overvalued. Investors began selling the baht in exchange for the US dollar because the dollar s value had a more certain future. Speculators jumped on the bandwagon and began selling their supply of baht in record amounts in order to lower its value and realize a profit. In July of 1997, Thailand s central bank devalued the baht or unpegged and lowered its value from the dollar in an effort to stop the sudden and massive sell off in order to restore confidence in the currency. When used in non emergency situations, devaluation of a country s currency can work to its advantage. When Thailand devalued the baht, it was able to lower the price of Thai goods in US dollar terms, which made making those products more competitive in foreign markets. Devaluation also tends to attract foreign investment in the country. However, this created an emergency situation, and devaluation of the baht only revealed the fundamental weaknesses in the Thai economy and banking system which continued in the domino effect to other Asian countries. • 47. The Acts Of The Christian Movement Essay The story of the Acts details the growth of the Christian movement from a small group of dedicated followers into a multi ethnic, international movement. As quoted by The Bible Project, [Acts] is a story about Jesus leading his people by the spirit to go out into the world and invite all nations to live under his reign (Mackie Acts Ch. 1 12. ). Traditionally this book has been called the Acts of the Apostles because it describes the apostles deeds in spreading Jesusmessage. As Paul and Peter journey through the ancient world they bring with them the word of God. Sinners, gentiles, and persecutors alike are invited to join the movement and seek salvation. In Acts, Luke details the growth of the Christian movement and attributes that growth to the power of Jesus and his message of welcome which invites an ethnically and geographically diverse followership. The story begins in Jerusalem where the risen Jesus Christ describes God s kingdom to his disciples and instructs them to carry the message of His kingdom to the ends of the earth. The disciples begin during the Festival of the Pentacost at which Jewish pilgrims from all over the ancient world have gathered. Thousands of these pilgrims receive God s message and accept his calling to create communities of generosity and worship. Before the disciples leave Jerusalem, they are preaching to a mostly Jewish crowd. As such, their persuasive methods are generally geared to the Jewish tradition. First, the disciples claim ... • 52. Theme Of Blindness In Oedipus The King Greek literature has been known to utilize dramatic irony, which allows the character s motives clear to the audience although unknown to the main character itself. Sophocles introduces the Greek tragedy Oedipus the King using this literary technique moving on to develop the concept of blindness and sight. In fact, this text deals with the idea of blindness and sight revealed by a character both literally and figuratively. The play introduces the Greek city state called Thebes, which is suffering a great plague causing the state to fall apart. A prophecy has been set to recover the plaque by which King Oedipusmust find the killer of Laius, his predecessor. Throughout the play, Sophocles displays an overarching question of which characters are considered blind, one who remains blind and ignorant to the truth or one who is depleted of sight embracing the certainty of the circumstances. Based on Oedipus s motivations, character development, and interactions over the course of the play, Sophocles develops the theme that when power and ignorance camouflage the truth, agony and despair will follow as the truth unfolds. In the starting of the play, Sophocles introduces Oedipus possessing great power and reputation therefore leading him to be unaware of his truth. For example, when Oedipus interacts with Teiresias, the blind prophet, Oedipus says, Oh I ll let loose, I have such Fury in me now I see it all. • 53. Coronary Artery Disease Research Paper Abstract The heart is composed of four chambers, the right and left atrium and the right and left ventricles. This important muscle is used to pump and create pressure to circulate blood throughout our bodies2. It is important for our heart to properly function because it helps blood deliver important nutrients and oxygen to the rest of our body. The heart is located in between the lungs (2/3 slightly tilted to the left), in the central portion of the thorax2. The atria collect the blood versus the ventricles which pump out the blood to the rest of the body. In order for the heart to properly function is must also receive enough oxygen and proper electrical stimulus. The coronary arteries are in charge of distributing adequate amounts of oxygen to the heart2. The heart s nodes help the heart function with electrical impulses which allow the heart to contract. These are also known as the pacemakers of the heart. Failure to properly function can result in a heart attack. • 56. Why Is Ma Rainey Important Gertrude Ma Rainey is a pivotal figure in the history of American music. She was the first person to ever perform blues and the first internationally known African American female blues singer. Her music acted as inspiration for many distinguished figures during the Harlem Renaissance, and continues to influence contemporary music and art. A single source of blues music cannot be traced, but Ma Rainey is rightfully credited with introducing it to the world. Hence the reason she was dubbed as The Mother of the Blues . During an interview in the 1930s, Ma told musicologist John Work, that she heard what would be called blues, for the first time around 1902. She was in a small town in Missouri working a show at the time, and one morning a local girl came into the tent singing about a man whom had left her. This new style of soulful music drew in Ma Rainey so much she later had the girl teach her the song. Rainey performed the song as an encore in a show soon after, earning a special place in the show, and marking the start of her career (Jas Obrecht Archive). Gertrude Pridgett was born in 1986 to tent performers Thomas Pridgett Sr. and Ella Allen Pridgett. Both were said to had traveled around the south performing minstrel shows, which was the most popular form of live comedy entertainment from 1840 to the early nineteenth century (Biography.com).
